- 0:12Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. Fans are excited. This is that Andy hart
- 0:17Speaker 1: Peu reunion right here? Do you have an answer for that? Andy?
- 0:19Speaker 1: Why don't you make yourself useful? Why don't you come
- 0:21Speaker 1: on a radio show when people are listening? Are you
- 0:23Speaker 1: just gonna loiter around Matt Morrell like a creepy you're
- 0:25Speaker 1: gonna actually jump on the show? Do you treat him
- 0:27Speaker 1: like I treat all? I already know what he's gonna say,
- 0:29Speaker 1: so I just ignore it. You're old, You're fat, you
- 0:31Speaker 1: don't want to be here. You just want to sit
- 0:33Speaker 1: at the blue line. Why are you talking about person?
- 0:35Speaker 1: You're bringing your own escorts now, it's a practice. That's
- 0:37Speaker 1: a little you want to call Aaron escorts. It's not
- 0:40Speaker 1: really my type. But if you're interested, do you ever
- 0:42Speaker 1: let her talk? Yeah? She talks whenever she has a name,
- 0:45Speaker 1: it's Alex. I know, I couldn't think of it in
- 0:47Speaker 1: that moment I had them with the nine What did
- 0:49Speaker 1: you have? H Wow? Wow, it's accurate. Fred as I've
- 0:55Speaker 1: always been since when since I left, maybe because when
- 0:57Speaker 1: I was here, you were never for the last twenty
- 0:59Speaker 1: eight years. How Patriots fans, what you think about this team?
- 1:01Speaker 1: And you know, on a state, you know place that
- 1:04Speaker 1: actually people are listening. How many times are you gonna
- 1:06Speaker 1: go to the same bad joke? It's nothing bad about it,
- 1:09Speaker 1: nothing bad. Yeah, that was the first, so funny. It's
- 1:14Speaker 1: really not a joke. Funny. The truth is sometimes painful.
- 1:17Speaker 1: It's good to have Andy back. This is Patriots Unfiltered,
- 1:21Speaker 1: fueled by Duncan. All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It
- 1:27Speaker 1: is Wednesday here at Jilest Stadium, and you never know
- 1:30Speaker 1: who's gonna pop in to Patriots Unfiltered. As we saw yesterday,
- 1:33Speaker 1: Well raucous show, but it's deuced. It's alex As Paul,
- 1:37Speaker 1: it's me, it's Matt and the booth, and we're here
- 1:39Speaker 1: until two o'clock talking Patriots. Oh no, it's the what's
- 1:42Speaker 1: what's today? Thursday? I said it's Wednesday, Holy mackerel, I
- 1:47Speaker 1: lost track of time. It's Thursday already here at Jilest Stadium,
- 1:51Speaker 1: and today's picks. Hurry um, but we got a lot
- 1:54Speaker 1: to talk about. We might delve in a little bit
- 1:57Speaker 1: to some things that are going on lost them. I
- 2:01Speaker 1: don't know. We got our Celtics, Alex, Oh, you guys
- 2:05Speaker 1: want to get into that already could count. But here's
- 2:08Speaker 1: the thing, and Alex, I was gonna talk to you
- 2:10Speaker 1: and we'll do this on here because I don't think
- 2:12Speaker 1: that like I don't think you'll get it too embarrass
- 2:15Speaker 1: or anything. But like I was just like, I like
- 2:19Speaker 1: what Alex is getting into on Twitter and all that stuff.
- 2:21Speaker 1: But if like I'm the Celtics, I'm like, why are
- 2:24Speaker 1: the people working for the Patriots getting into our business
- 2:27Speaker 1: on Twitter? You know? Because I got a call once
- 2:29Speaker 1: for criticizing the Globe on something they were saying about
- 2:33Speaker 1: the Patriots, And I got a call from from because
- 2:36Speaker 1: somebody from the Red Sox called us, like why is
- 2:39Speaker 1: Fred getting involved in this? You know? So what if
- 2:44Speaker 1: I get hired, just be careful. Well she is true, listen.
- 2:49Speaker 1: She was a runner up for the Greg Hill Show.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Such a I'm only that's my biggest accomplishment. That was
- 2:57Speaker 1: a shot at you that some soul that was that
- 3:01Speaker 1: was like if Andy was here, that's something I would
- 3:03Speaker 1: say to Andy, But I'll take it. You have to
- 3:05Speaker 1: be able to take it. I do, yeah, but I
- 3:08Speaker 1: mean to be fair kind of a quirky, quirky thing.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I don't think he should be putting the organization in
- 3:14Speaker 1: that position where oh absolutely and there like and if
- 3:19Speaker 1: I cover the team many an external outlet outside of
- 3:22Speaker 1: this job, I cover the Celtics, yea in case, in
- 3:26Speaker 1: case people are from the area don't know the head
- 3:29Speaker 1: coach of the Celtics, he's going to get suspended. The
- 3:32Speaker 1: question is for how long for having a consensual intimate
- 3:36Speaker 1: relationship with someone on a stale member? So Warowski has
- 3:40Speaker 1: reported full year and Missoula is going to step up
- 3:44Speaker 1: as the assistant's ready to go full year. Yeah, So
- 3:46Speaker 1: my thing is this and this is just again we
- 3:49Speaker 1: don't know nothing. If if it's a full year, there's
- 3:54Speaker 1: something to this right now, it wasn't they You know,
- 3:58Speaker 1: they're very if to use the word consensual, because if
- 4:01Speaker 1: it's anything less than that, he's fired, right, you know
- 4:04Speaker 1: that's for any company. If it was less than consensual,
- 4:08Speaker 1: it's not consensual. I mean, he's gonna get brought up
- 4:10Speaker 1: with it's Mat who's the guy for NBC? Matt? Wow,
- 4:18Speaker 1: can't you just say names? I don't know I don't
- 4:20Speaker 1: know names. We're being serious. I know it's good with face,
- 4:22Speaker 1: but but yeah, so they hail for the league. They
- 4:25Speaker 1: were you know, very it's very important for them to spect,
- 4:27Speaker 1: you know, to specify that it was consensual. But I
- 4:31Speaker 1: think something must have happened for sure, there's something going on.
- 4:34Speaker 1: So she's upset or somebody else was upset or I
- 4:40Speaker 1: don't know. We don't know what happened, but it's inappropriate.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Like it's not that hard, Like I don't really get this.
- 4:48Speaker 1: There's a lot of people that are sort of saying,
- 4:50Speaker 1: you know, he hadn't a fair what's the big deal, Mike,
- 4:53Speaker 1: If you think that's the only problem here, when you're
- 4:55Speaker 1: in a position of management power, yeah, you can't do it.
- 4:59Speaker 1: He's the head co each of the team. How many
- 5:00Speaker 1: people in the organization aren't under him? Right? You know Wick? Right? Right? Everybody? Stevens.
- 5:07Speaker 1: That's about if now staffer and staffer. There might be
- 5:11Speaker 1: a rule about you have to tell HR or something,
- 5:13Speaker 1: but that's not the same thing. You know, we're not
- 5:15Speaker 1: talking about you know, people who are working together all
- 5:19Speaker 1: day and they're at the same level, and they end
- 5:21Speaker 1: up we've all worked in a million different places where
- 5:23Speaker 1: there's office romances go on among you know, people of
- 5:28Speaker 1: similar but when you're at that level, go find somebody else.
- 5:31Speaker 1: The boss can't you know, the boss can't be in
- 5:34Speaker 1: those relationships with And they're like, well, what do you
- 5:36Speaker 1: want him to be on Bumble? You know when he
- 5:39Speaker 1: travels from city to city? First of all, do you
- 5:42Speaker 1: need somebody from city to city? That's and and then
- 5:46Speaker 1: he has like he's in a relationship. Yeah, that's better
- 5:49Speaker 1: than you know, subordinates. You know, so I it's but
- 5:53Speaker 1: something happens. I never thought about that, dude, when I
- 5:55Speaker 1: was traveling all those years. You could have just gone
- 5:57Speaker 1: on Bumble. Who I would have been tindering it up?
- 6:01Speaker 1: What happens in Vegas? You're just there? Right? Yeah? So anyway,
- 6:05Speaker 1: what was your dating app? Us? You recommend? So Riyah
- 6:08Speaker 1: is the dating app that all the athletes and celebrities
- 6:11Speaker 1: are on. So you have to have like you'd be
- 6:13Speaker 1: like approved to be honest, Yeah, blue checkmark, not even
- 6:18Speaker 1: just the full blue checkmark. I don't think. I don't
- 6:20Speaker 1: know full disclosure. I'm not on Riyah, but but I mean,
- 6:23Speaker 1: if you're a celebrity, do you need that? That's the
- 6:27Speaker 1: thing is, you can't put yourself in this situation. You
- 6:29Speaker 1: just went to the NBA Finals. You're now the favorite
- 6:31Speaker 1: to win the NBA Finals again. How long did it
- 6:34Speaker 1: take you to get this job as a head coach.
- 6:36Speaker 1: It's your first year. You really can't act professional with
- 6:40Speaker 1: a female staffer. And I mean it wasn't like the
- 6:43Speaker 1: language wasn't I don't even want to speke. And you're
- 6:46Speaker 1: a big Celtics fan. I'm a huge Celtics fan. That's
- 6:48Speaker 1: why I'm upset. I don't care. I'm not the morality
- 6:51Speaker 1: police on Twitter. I don't care about that. I care that,
- 6:54Speaker 1: like have some accountability. You are, like does this? I
- 6:57Speaker 1: don't know. We're in a world where the presidency, like
- 6:59Speaker 1: the doesn't mean anything and it was made a joke
- 7:02Speaker 1: of but like I missed the times where people were
- 7:04Speaker 1: accountable and they held position with professionalism and like Grace.
- 7:09Speaker 1: I don't know, and this wasn't a big deal. But
- 7:12Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah, it's yeah, I mean that that
- 7:16Speaker 1: it's the position. It's the down. The Celtics are going
- 7:20Speaker 1: into the season as favorites, literally the betting favorites to
- 7:23Speaker 1: win one of the best off seasons in the league,
- 7:26Speaker 1: and now they don't have their head coach. Yeah, and
- 7:29Speaker 1: that's the position you're putting your team in. And who
- 7:31Speaker 1: is the coach? Who is this guy that they're that
- 7:33Speaker 1: they're going to have replacing him for the Joe Mazzulo,
- 7:36Speaker 1: he's coached the summer league teams. Um coach summer league
- 7:40Speaker 1: teams for too few championships for what that's worth. But um,
- 7:43Speaker 1: he's a Rhode Island guy. Chess. They did it on
- 7:46Speaker 1: perfect Maddie asked Maddie, he was a senior when I
- 7:52Speaker 1: was a freshman. Yeah, because I know he's from Johnston. Right.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Do you give you any atomic there was a year
- 7:57Speaker 1: above me too, Oh, I don't know. Small room in facts.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Funny nice they all know each other, any other kinds
- 8:05Speaker 1: it probably knows them too. So so that's what's going
- 8:10Speaker 1: on in the sports world in Boston. It's big. It's
- 8:12Speaker 1: a huge thing. Was was just what struck me that
- 8:14Speaker 1: that was you know, that's why it's not just like, oh,
- 8:17Speaker 1: a consensual relationship between two adults. Clearly if they're willing
- 8:21Speaker 1: to suspend him in a year and enter the situation
- 8:23Speaker 1: season in this situation and and you know, I don't again,
- 8:27Speaker 1: I don't know the details, but it seems like good
- 8:30Speaker 1: for the Celtics for you know, having some principle there,
- 8:33Speaker 1: although they might their hand might have been forced for
- 8:36Speaker 1: all I know, I don't know, but yeah, it's it's
- 8:39Speaker 1: pretty harsh. Yeah, yeah, it's always tough when you're let
- 8:42Speaker 1: me right in the middle of it breaking and there's
- 8:43Speaker 1: there there. When did it break? When did they know? When?
- 8:46Speaker 1: Is this all that? You're just getting caught up right now?
- 8:48Speaker 1: I feel like on what actually happened, I mean, this
- 8:51Speaker 1: sounds like something like Rick Patino would do. I saw
- 8:55Speaker 1: Urban Meyer. Yeah, exactly right. But you know what, no
- 9:00Speaker 1: one seemed to be like, you know, there was outraged
- 9:04Speaker 1: when it happened to those kinds of guys. Is it
- 9:06Speaker 1: because everybody didn't like those guys? Probably when they had
- 9:09Speaker 1: like you know and yeah, and they were less than
- 9:12Speaker 1: this because this is actually someone on staff, someone that
- 9:17Speaker 1: works for the Celtics, right, and not to mention how
- 9:19Speaker 1: this makes female and him not married this guy him
- 9:23Speaker 1: and Nia engaged to Nia Long. From my understanding there,
- 9:29Speaker 1: I always thought it was Nia Long. I might I
- 9:32Speaker 1: might know, I might I could be wrong on that.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Uncle Fry and Nia Long. I'm learning all kinds of
- 9:37Speaker 1: stuff from Alex. She's learning me. No the Naia, I'm
- 9:39Speaker 1: not gonna it could be nia. I don't know, but
- 9:42Speaker 1: they were estranged either way. Oh okay, I did not regardless,
- 9:46Speaker 1: So he's it's a female staffer. Yeah, I know, like
- 9:49Speaker 1: that just looks bad. Women aren't are take not taken
- 9:53Speaker 1: seriously enough already in these positions, and it's just another
- 9:56Speaker 1: reason to not make these hires. So and we know
- 9:58Speaker 1: it was a female staffer because it wouldn't matter if
- 10:01Speaker 1: it wasn't, did say on the tweet. Yeah, yeah, I
- 10:07Speaker 1: mean think it doesn't matter if it's female or male
- 10:09Speaker 1: in my opinion. No, No, it's the same as long
- 10:12Speaker 1: as it's someone that works, you know, ostensibly for him. Yeah,
- 10:16Speaker 1: I had the power, I guess all of our our
- 10:18Speaker 1: training on our online modules. This is finally coming. I
- 10:21Speaker 1: mean it all seriously, we had to watch hours of
- 10:24Speaker 1: this stuff, like and now I'm sure everybody who's commenting
- 10:27Speaker 1: on it had to watch the same stuff that we did, right,
- 10:29Speaker 1: But everybody's okay with it because I don't know if
- 10:31Speaker 1: you know, we went to the final slash ship, but
- 10:33Speaker 1: we have a pretty good team. There was an immediate
- 10:36Speaker 1: knee jerk defense of it. It's a human being. Don't
- 10:40Speaker 1: you want your coach to have some accountability? Like, yeah, yeah,
- 10:44Speaker 1: it's it's the position. He's not there. It's this isn't
- 10:47Speaker 1: two staffers with an office romance. You know, I know
- 10:51Speaker 1: they happen here all the time. But again, we've all
- 10:55Speaker 1: were I worked at the Herald too. They happened there too,
- 10:57Speaker 1: But I never heard of anything with the boss And
- 11:01Speaker 1: like a reporter, right right, that's wrong, that's wrong. How
- 11:04Speaker 1: you're getting preferential treatment, You're getting assignments that everybody else wants.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Why are you getting them because you're sleeping with the
- 11:09Speaker 1: boss and maybe she wants to break up and the
- 11:12Speaker 1: boss says you can't do it, or you'll lose your job,
- 11:14Speaker 1: or you don't get an increase or whatever. It's not.
- 11:17Speaker 1: It's just that's why a simple to see, don't do it.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Just don't do it. It's pretty simple to see where
- 11:22Speaker 1: it can go wrong. Yeah, just don't the lawsuits It
- 11:26Speaker 1: opens the team up to it. Yeah, comment, just better
- 11:30Speaker 1: to have no comment. Yeah, And I you know, like
- 11:32Speaker 1: I understand the lament. Well, we spend twenty four hours
- 11:36Speaker 1: a day here. I don't get to meet anyone. Geez,
- 11:39Speaker 1: come on, please, you know you'll find that story. Yeah,
- 11:42Speaker 1: I mean you're famous, you're the coach of the Celtics.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I mean you could figure it out, you know, all
- 11:49Speaker 1: right anyway, yeah, Patriots, Yeah, Ravens. So, we had our
- 11:54Speaker 1: first practice yesterday. We had our first participation report. As expected,
- 11:59Speaker 1: Dugger was on it as did not participate even though
- 12:02Speaker 1: he was out there. Yeah, Jacoby too, Yeah, yeah, it's uh,
- 12:05Speaker 1: I mean in some of the reports, now Jacoby should
- 12:08Speaker 1: be okay, Umm, not so sure about Dougger. So yeah,
- 12:11Speaker 1: we'll see. I mean, I think he's a good piece.
- 12:13Speaker 1: When you're talking about defending Lamar Jackson of speed and
- 12:16Speaker 1: ability to play close to the line of scrimmage, tackle
- 12:18Speaker 1: like he's tack good, he's a sure tackle. Yeah, yeah,
- 12:21Speaker 1: I mean it's uh, it's it's it's it's it's going
- 12:23Speaker 1: to be a blow if he can't go. And you know,
- 12:25Speaker 1: it's interesting because you know, Jabrol Pepper's, Josh Bledsoe or
- 12:29Speaker 1: those guys you know, ready to deal with Lamar Jackson
- 12:32Speaker 1: hurt Blitzo has been hurt. Um. You know, Bill talking
- 12:35Speaker 1: a little bit about Peppers haven't really got to know him. Much.
- 12:38Speaker 1: It still seemed like he's like in the education phase
- 12:41Speaker 1: of what they're doing. So I'm not sure. I'm not
- 12:44Speaker 1: sure how they're gonna mat Pepper spent time in Cleveland,
- 12:47Speaker 1: so he might have at least some experience going against Lamar.
- 12:51Speaker 1: That's a good that's a goodar observation. You know how,
- 12:54Speaker 1: I'll tell you between the positive affirmation I got yesterday
- 12:58Speaker 1: on this show from my co workers and now that
- 13:00Speaker 1: from Deuce, you don't know what to do. I'm riding
- 13:02Speaker 1: a hot streak. Okay, it seems to me right now.
- 13:06Speaker 1: You know, I am the opposite of vocal fry right now.
- 13:09Speaker 1: It seems to me with with the Baltimore offense, this
- 13:13Speaker 1: is an offense where you can you can actually do
- 13:16Speaker 1: well or you can fail miserably because I think you
- 13:19Speaker 1: need to play really good, solid team defense. You don't
- 13:23Speaker 1: necessarily need studs on defense to compete with this guise. Yeah,
- 13:29Speaker 1: you have to be disciplined. I think that's a good word.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Did you use That's another praise for Fred. I'll expect
- 13:36Speaker 1: a little extra this week in the envelope. Um, did
- 13:39Speaker 1: you introduce his round taps? I did just before he came. Well,
- 13:43Speaker 1: that was part of my answer to you know, like
- 13:45Speaker 1: the key matchup, you know, and short of like a
- 13:48Speaker 1: specific matchup. I just said jude On against La Marvelous
- 13:51Speaker 1: because the edges I think need to you know, it's
- 13:54Speaker 1: gonna be ouch, you know, probably mac Wilson. I put
- 13:58Speaker 1: mac Wilson, you know, those kinds of guys because I
- 14:00Speaker 1: don't know who's going to be on the other side.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I know Judean is on one side. But that's exactly
- 14:05Speaker 1: what I meant when I when I wrote that it
- 14:07Speaker 1: was the discipline that it takes to not get up
- 14:09Speaker 1: field and not necessarily chase after him, but contain him
- 14:14Speaker 1: right is hard. For sixty minutes. He's waiting for you
- 14:17Speaker 1: to make one of those mistakes where you can shoot
- 14:19Speaker 1: a gap and all of a sudden he's off to
- 14:21Speaker 1: the races right, or you commit too much and the
- 14:23Speaker 1: guy's wide open over the top, you know, so he
- 14:26Speaker 1: can hit them too. There's just some mean, explosive scores.
- 14:28Speaker 1: And that's you know, one of my biggest keys to
- 14:30Speaker 1: the game is just the big plays. You know, if
- 14:31Speaker 1: you can if you can keep him kind of contained
- 14:33Speaker 1: and not give up that seventy yard seventy nine yard touchdown,
- 14:36Speaker 1: run or get beat over the top. But of course,
- 14:38Speaker 1: as I texted Paul, getting a little help on the
- 14:40Speaker 1: injury report. As we got back upstairs after yesterday's show,
- 14:43Speaker 1: Lamar not really throwing, got a elbow sleeve on DuVernay, Calais, Campbell,
- 14:49Speaker 1: and justin Houston getting veteran days off. So I mean,
- 14:51Speaker 1: you know, what's it gonna mean when we get out there.
- 14:52Speaker 1: I don't know, but um, yeah, they they are having
- 14:59Speaker 1: trouble with their pass rush. I guess Over in Baltimore
- 15:02Speaker 1: they had Jason Pierre Paul in for a free agent visit,
- 15:05Speaker 1: and Harball has come right out and said we got
- 15:07Speaker 1: to do better. Um. I mean, I think they're a
- 15:09Speaker 1: little bit of a mix of kind of like the
- 15:11Speaker 1: Patriots were, where you've got a couple of old horses
- 15:13Speaker 1: that maybe aren't quite what they used to be, and
- 15:15Speaker 1: then you've got some young guys like Queen and what's
- 15:17Speaker 1: his name, O Wayway. It's a first round draft pick.
- 15:20Speaker 1: He's been disappointing so far. He was great last year,
- 15:23Speaker 1: but I think he's off to a slow start point.
- 15:26Speaker 1: And then you have the big lead the other day,
- 15:28Speaker 1: you would think that's when you're really going to be
- 15:29Speaker 1: able to generate some pressure, and obviously they didn't, according
- 15:33Speaker 1: to Harbaugh. Y. So it's it's I think it's it's
- 15:37Speaker 1: a fascinating They're all fascinating. Every week poses different challenges,
- 15:41Speaker 1: but this is fascinating because of Lamar Jackson. You know,
- 15:44Speaker 1: he's so unique. Um not that he's the only running,
- 15:50Speaker 1: but he's so good. I mean, like Mahomes is a
- 15:52Speaker 1: good runner, but he ain't Lamar Jackson. When he runs,
- 15:55Speaker 1: I mean, there's only a handful of players in the
- 15:57Speaker 1: league where one miss step or misstown. He's fast enough
- 16:01Speaker 1: that you're you're done. You're not the best running quarterback
- 16:05Speaker 1: I think ever ever better than Michael Vick is the
- 16:11Speaker 1: only one that comes close. And I don't think he
- 16:12Speaker 1: ever had to product better than Archie Manning arch arch
- 16:17Speaker 1: or Archie specific No, that's Roger the Dodger Store. But
- 16:23Speaker 1: great scramblers. All of those guys are great scramblers. Vic
- 16:26Speaker 1: is the only one, to me is even in the category.
- 16:28Speaker 1: And I think this guy is a better pure runner.
- 16:31Speaker 1: I think he has more power than Vic did. Vic
- 16:33Speaker 1: may have been more explosive, but I mean the house
- 16:37Speaker 1: and yard seasons and what would you rather see happen.
- 16:40Speaker 1: What would you what do you think the Patriots could
- 16:42Speaker 1: live with more one of their receivers having one hundred
- 16:45Speaker 1: and fifty yards reception or Jackson rushing for a hundred yards.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I m they'd rather have. I mean, I might see
- 16:52Speaker 1: Jackson rush for a hundred I think so too, you know,
- 16:54Speaker 1: because you're not gonna he's gonna get his yard. I
- 16:56Speaker 1: think you're in trouble either way. Really, yeah, with that,
- 17:00Speaker 1: I would probably go with you, guys. I would probably
- 17:02Speaker 1: say that, you know, because if he's throwing it around,
- 17:05Speaker 1: if the receiver, if the receivers are held in check,
- 17:07Speaker 1: and it's just just Jackson, right, because if if he's
- 17:10Speaker 1: throwing one hundred and fifty yards to Rashad Bateman, he's
- 17:14Speaker 1: probably running well too. Yeah, but I think you're in trouble.
- 17:18Speaker 1: If Lamar Jackson rushes for one hundred yards too, that
- 17:20Speaker 1: means he's made a lot of place. Yeah yeah, but
- 17:23Speaker 1: I mean I think the running backs aren't impressive too.
- 17:25Speaker 1: So you know, now the bringing backs any way you
- 17:27Speaker 1: can get them to anythink any time they're hand that
- 17:30Speaker 1: he's handing the ball off or not throwing it to
- 17:32Speaker 1: Mark Andrews is probably a good thing. But like you said,
- 17:35Speaker 1: it's so unique the way his speed, the speed he's
- 17:38Speaker 1: got around him, but also, as I mentioned yesterday, the
- 17:40Speaker 1: power and the size of the tight ends, and you know,
- 17:43Speaker 1: it's all very deliberate. How Baltimore has kind of planned
- 17:45Speaker 1: this out, and you know, I mean, I don't know,
- 17:47Speaker 1: do you think they're happy with it? Do you think
- 17:49Speaker 1: that they feel like we need to not get away
- 17:52Speaker 1: from Lamar. I'm sure they'll probably sign Lamar, which Bill
- 17:54Speaker 1: talked about yesterday, But I mean, you know, is there
- 17:56Speaker 1: a tweak to it? How do they continue to evolve
- 17:58Speaker 1: because it seems like, you know, they've kind of figured
- 18:01Speaker 1: out what their plan was with Lamar and they've kind
- 18:03Speaker 1: of stuck with it for three years and it's it's
- 18:05Speaker 1: definitely been productive. I mean, he had a MVP season
- 18:07Speaker 1: two years ago. But at the same time, I think
- 18:09Speaker 1: you got to continue to evolve, and I just I
- 18:13Speaker 1: think they've evolved as a passing team. His improvement. I
- 18:16Speaker 1: don't think there's any question about this improvement. I think
- 18:19Speaker 1: that they're probably wondering, you know, what do we need
- 18:21Speaker 1: to do? Is it just getting JK. Dobbins back? And
- 18:24Speaker 1: you know, he's not healthy. I mean, he might play
- 18:26Speaker 1: this week, but he's not going to be himself probably
- 18:28Speaker 1: for a few weeks. Look at them. I read those
- 18:32Speaker 1: numbers off to you yesterday. I mean, Drake has seventeen
- 18:35Speaker 1: carries for thirty nine yards in two games. Like, they
- 18:38Speaker 1: have to find a way to get some. That was
- 18:41Speaker 1: the big thing that they did in nineteen. It was
- 18:44Speaker 1: mark Ingram. It was, you know, all these other guys
- 18:47Speaker 1: running for a hundred yards all the time and you
- 18:49Speaker 1: couldn't stop them. You know, he would if you if
- 18:52Speaker 1: you geared up to stop him, he just would hand
- 18:54Speaker 1: it off. If you did the other way around, he
- 18:56Speaker 1: would keep it. What was that first year? Was it nineteen?
- 18:59Speaker 1: The first year of the Patriots played Baltimore with Jackson? Yeah,
- 19:02Speaker 1: first lost in Baltimore, and it was just like, how
- 19:05Speaker 1: do you stop this team? I mean the Patriots looked
- 19:07Speaker 1: inept that day. There was no shot. Whether it was
- 19:11Speaker 1: the running back they you know, the tight end was
- 19:15Speaker 1: killing him. Everything was killing him that day. And even
- 19:18Speaker 1: Hollywood Brown. Yeah, you pick your poison and you just
- 19:21Speaker 1: get burned the other way. It was awful. Yeah. His numbers,
- 19:24Speaker 1: I mean his numbers against the Patriots, seventy one point
- 19:27Speaker 1: percent completion rate, I mean seven over seventy percent. I
- 19:30Speaker 1: mean three touchdowns, one interception. You know, twenty seven carries,
- 19:33Speaker 1: one hundred and sixteen rushing yards two rushing tds. So
- 19:36Speaker 1: you know, he's been a little bit a little bit
- 19:37Speaker 1: more productive. Like I guess, I mean, I guess it's
- 19:40Speaker 1: pretty balanced. Really. He's got five I think five touchdowns
- 19:43Speaker 1: five touchdowns to three passing two rushing. Oh okay, I
- 19:46Speaker 1: thought it was five passing, but um and that and
- 19:50Speaker 1: you take that. Everybody seems to like remember that game
- 19:53Speaker 1: in the Monsoon that he did not he was like
- 19:56Speaker 1: twenty four to thirty four in that game, Like he
- 19:59Speaker 1: didn't play that bad. Yeah, I mean considering the elements. Yeah.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Another part of it too is I mean they haven't
- 20:05Speaker 1: really turned the ball over that much, you know. I mean,
- 20:07Speaker 1: I think they've been pretty good with that. Um just
- 20:09Speaker 1: that one interception against the Jets for him, So you know,
- 20:12Speaker 1: they're they're they're playing pretty clean. I think the Patriots
- 20:14Speaker 1: can't really expect to you know that they're going to
- 20:17Speaker 1: give you a couple turnovers, so you're gonna have to
- 20:19Speaker 1: beat them, I think straight up, you know, it's just
- 20:22Speaker 1: a great matchup against the Patriots, just the team. You
- 20:24Speaker 1: heard it yesterday and in the day before about how
- 20:26Speaker 1: much you know these teams are similar. I think just
- 20:29Speaker 1: the philosophy overall, the toughness, and you know, we'll see
- 20:32Speaker 1: where both teams are. It's always an interesting matchup because
- 20:34Speaker 1: I do I respect them. I really think John Harbaugh
- 20:37Speaker 1: is a good coach. Um. You know, it just kind
- 20:39Speaker 1: of depends on the day and how the game starts
- 20:40Speaker 1: to unfold. You never quite know how it's going to
- 20:42Speaker 1: go against these guys. Are we mad at John Harbaugh
- 20:44Speaker 1: or anything he said last year recently? You know, I
- 20:48Speaker 1: don't know. I give him a yeah, I could probably
- 20:53Speaker 1: annoyed me, but I thought I recall him saying something
- 20:55Speaker 1: that was like mind your own business or so I
- 20:58Speaker 1: forget what it was. Yeah, is it his brother? Maybe? No,
- 21:02Speaker 1: I forget. I don't know what he Jimmy. He chirped
- 21:05Speaker 1: us about something chirped the Patriots. Yeah, last year, didn't
- 21:08Speaker 1: didn't It wasn't there something that he said? I forget.
- 21:11Speaker 1: I think you might be right, but I've I've forgotten. Well,
- 21:14Speaker 1: I'm trying to be a bigger person in letting them.
- 21:15Speaker 1: He can't be right if you forgot it, because that's
- 21:18Speaker 1: ingrained in new people, maybe one of our listeners can
- 21:21Speaker 1: remind it was something where it's like all today today.
- 21:24Speaker 1: I mean, we know in the past there have been
- 21:26Speaker 1: reasons why today, Yeah, I like, you know, complaining about
- 21:29Speaker 1: the stuff in the twenty fourteen game with the ineligible
- 21:32Speaker 1: receiver stuff. Yeah, you know that was a while ago.
- 21:34Speaker 1: But I don't it's all these guys, I mean, Bill
- 21:37Speaker 1: does the same kind of stuff. Like their football coaches.
- 21:38Speaker 1: They're competitive, they get you know, yeah, like they do.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I I just think he's he's consistently put together a
- 21:44Speaker 1: good team. I respect how they tact with Lamar Jackson,
- 21:48Speaker 1: you know. I mean I think that takes a lot.
- 21:49Speaker 1: He's one of the league's good coaches. You know. Yeah,
- 21:52Speaker 1: I don't. Yeah, yeah, And there's and there's you know,
- 21:54Speaker 1: there's a handful of them, but but he's definitely one
- 21:56Speaker 1: that that you know, gets the job done. I think, yeah,
- 21:59Speaker 1: all right, So has the line moved it all? Paul
- 22:03Speaker 1: or I think it's two and a half or three
- 22:05Speaker 1: or something like. I think that's what I've seen. Yeah,
- 22:07Speaker 1: that's what I you know, I think that's what I saw.
- 22:09Speaker 1: I heard on one of your shows that Globe this morning,
- 22:12Speaker 1: like ninety plus percent of the bets are on Baltimore.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Oh really, see, I have not gotten night I dropped
- 22:18Speaker 1: the ball. I have yet to get the Ryan Hannibal
- 22:20Speaker 1: handle update. Yeah, that's what they said. That's what he
- 22:23Speaker 1: does now with the lipshot Young Hannibal. He works for
- 22:26Speaker 1: Ye Gamblings when he get draft kings. MGM MGM. My apology.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Lip shots said, I think this morning that ninety percent.
- 22:35Speaker 1: But yes, he's on a Patriots. He's on the Patriots. Yeah,
- 22:38Speaker 1: that's that's a stunner, extending his streaked since I heard
- 22:41Speaker 1: this name for the first time, has picked the Patriots
- 22:43Speaker 1: in every single guy. I was like, I can't have
- 22:46Speaker 1: my gambling expert only pick his favorite team, right, come on,
- 22:49Speaker 1: don't I need my gambling experts to either say I'm
- 22:52Speaker 1: laying off. I'm a Patriots fan. I don't really like
- 22:55Speaker 1: them this week, which is code for I think the
- 22:57Speaker 1: other team's going to cover. But I respect it. You're
- 22:59Speaker 1: a fan of the team, so you don't ever bet
- 23:01Speaker 1: against your team. Yeah, I get it. Yeah, but never
- 23:05Speaker 1: once I heard him and he comes up with he
- 23:07Speaker 1: comes up with reasons. I'll give him credit gambling reasons
- 23:10Speaker 1: are just too because Fred and I, you know, we
- 23:17Speaker 1: were talking to these guys, were like, actually, well his
- 23:20Speaker 1: cohart Joe Murray, had you know, the record of teams
- 23:25Speaker 1: who played Pittsburgh and then the next week who play Baltimore.
- 23:32Speaker 1: It's only happened three times. They're own three, but they
- 23:36Speaker 1: are ow and three. But that's so right, Like I
- 23:39Speaker 1: care if it was like a hundred, right, like who cares?
- 23:41Speaker 1: Well if it's a hundred, that's more of a sample set. Well,
- 23:44Speaker 1: only if it happened now. Yeah, Like I heard them
- 23:47Speaker 1: talking about some things with the Pittsburgh Cleveland game tonight
- 23:50Speaker 1: in terms of like division games and this, and I
- 23:53Speaker 1: was like, they're all different players, Like this is I know,
- 23:55Speaker 1: Like you want to tell me Kirk Cousins on Monday
- 23:58Speaker 1: Night football is two and ten. That's one guy, one
- 24:02Speaker 1: player who was going to be playing in this game
- 24:04Speaker 1: as well, is two and ten on Monday Night football.
- 24:07Speaker 1: I might want to might want to fade him on
- 24:08Speaker 1: Monday Night football. Right, there's obviously something that he has,
- 24:12Speaker 1: right that's relevant, Like you know what fade means? Yeah,
- 24:16Speaker 1: like dissipated him, push back, yeah, push away? I don't
- 24:23Speaker 1: know why fade is the way follow? You follow? Is
- 24:28Speaker 1: that the word? Yeah? Oh, I didn't know that's what
- 24:30Speaker 1: That's the their their terminology, not mine. I'm not again
- 24:33Speaker 1: again A little bump. I like it? Yeah, pound me
- 24:38Speaker 1: over what it's ride. Evidently the one thing that I
- 24:43Speaker 1: heard this remind me on that the one thing I
- 24:47Speaker 1: heard heard this morning that I that I thought was
- 24:50Speaker 1: really interesting is I didn't forget the percentage I think
- 24:53Speaker 1: it was sixty nine sixty nine percent of the games
- 24:57Speaker 1: through the first two weeks under ohoh something like that. Okay,
- 25:01Speaker 1: that's snoring's down, scoring's down earlier, so not just you.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Oh Goodell's gonna have to make some rule changes. Then
- 25:07Speaker 1: Bill anticipated this and uh chess. Yeah yeah, Um, I
- 25:13Speaker 1: can take us into a new direction. Okay, I think
- 25:16Speaker 1: I think it was interesting press conference yesterday with Mac
- 25:20Speaker 1: and uh, you know, I thought Tommy Kurrant does with
- 25:21Speaker 1: Tommy Kurran does well, he went right at it, and
- 25:24Speaker 1: you know, first Max kind of sitting there waiting in
- 25:26Speaker 1: the wings and cool stuff. Hey, he complimented it and
- 25:32Speaker 1: he's like, hey, good job watching film. But this was
- 25:34Speaker 1: before that, Um, you know, Devin mccordy was getting ready
- 25:36Speaker 1: to wrap up, and Tom kind of went right into
- 25:39Speaker 1: the question of the week, and I think we've talked
- 25:41Speaker 1: about it here, was you know, is Mac plateauing? Is
- 25:44Speaker 1: Mac not progressing? I think that's been kind of like
- 25:46Speaker 1: the buzz this week, a little bit of that story.
- 25:48Speaker 1: And uh, you know, Tom kind of laid the question
- 25:50Speaker 1: out to d Mac of you know, you came in
- 25:51Speaker 1: to twenty ten, had you know, a really good season,
- 25:54Speaker 1: Angries a second team All Pro I think, like, I mean,
- 25:57Speaker 1: was you know, and then and then he and I
- 25:59Speaker 1: mean it's Tom put it's you know, the next year
- 26:00Speaker 1: you came in you kind of struggled. I'm like, well
- 26:01Speaker 1: they went to the super Bowl, but you know, but
- 26:03Speaker 1: I I the point is still apt, like he did,
- 26:05Speaker 1: you know, not play quite up to that level at
- 26:07Speaker 1: cornerback again. Um, you know, just kind of asking it
- 26:10Speaker 1: was a little bit awkward because Mack is standing right
- 26:12Speaker 1: there right and you know you could tell what the
- 26:14Speaker 1: inference was that he's he's not playing as well in
- 26:17Speaker 1: his second year. Um, so you know, T Mac answered
- 26:20Speaker 1: that and you know kind of had like a you know,
- 26:22Speaker 1: no one knows what it's like to pay quarterback, even you,
- 26:24Speaker 1: and I mean not as angry as I just made
- 26:27Speaker 1: it sound there, but um, but you know, and then
- 26:29Speaker 1: you know, kind of asked Mack a little bit too,
- 26:31Speaker 1: but not that he gave any answers, But I just, um,
- 26:34Speaker 1: you know, I thought it was interesting, Um that that's
- 26:36Speaker 1: kind of the story of this week after two games,
- 26:38Speaker 1: and you know, credit to Tom for just asking the
- 26:41Speaker 1: hard question right to face to face to those guys. Um,
- 26:44Speaker 1: you know, they didn't really give it any oxygen. But
- 26:46Speaker 1: but I think that's what's brewing right now. I just
- 26:48Speaker 1: think it's it's way too early to be able to say, oh,
- 26:52Speaker 1: Max regressing. I've heard that, I've heard it, but really, like,
- 26:57Speaker 1: you know, yeah, how was he regressing? And I get it.
- 27:00Speaker 1: I mean we you know, two games, two games, but
- 27:02Speaker 1: at the same time continuational last year, well, I think
- 27:05Speaker 1: he was. He was good last year for a rookie,
- 27:08Speaker 1: but like that, but like he wasn't that great. Where
- 27:12Speaker 1: what he's doing now is a regression from last year,
- 27:15Speaker 1: you know, so like it's kind of a shot on
- 27:17Speaker 1: last year. I get that by me saying that, but
- 27:20Speaker 1: I don't think he's any worse than he was last
- 27:24Speaker 1: year right now. Yeah, and he's more working against him
- 27:27Speaker 1: this year well considerable, And I'm not even factoring you're
- 27:30Speaker 1: at You're right, But I'm not even factoring that in.
- 27:33Speaker 1: I'm just looking at his physical play. I'm not even
- 27:36Speaker 1: looking at the mental stuff and the coaching and the
- 27:38Speaker 1: new offense and all that stuff. I'm just looking at
- 27:41Speaker 1: how does he look when he drops back and passes,
- 27:43Speaker 1: you know, other than sometimes a little skittish, which he
- 27:46Speaker 1: did last year too, I don't see much of a
- 27:48Speaker 1: difference yet. I don't see a big jump, which is
- 27:51Speaker 1: what we're hoping for, and maybe we'll see that as
- 27:54Speaker 1: the season gets a little older. But regression, I think
- 27:57Speaker 1: is a strong word. I think it's unfair. I just
- 27:59Speaker 1: think it's too small of a sample. Yeah, exactly. Yeah,
- 28:02Speaker 1: I think he hasn't played as well this year as
- 28:03Speaker 1: he did last year. But I think it's too early
- 28:05Speaker 1: to say it's been a little inaccurate. But how many
- 28:07Speaker 1: throws has he even made? I don't think he's read
- 28:09Speaker 1: the situation as well as he did last year. I
- 28:12Speaker 1: don't you know, we were talking about just the way
- 28:15Speaker 1: he looks in the pocket. I don't think he's looked
- 28:17Speaker 1: as his company. I look at it as as he
- 28:19Speaker 1: did last how does he look through the first three
- 28:21Speaker 1: games this year first three games last year. That's not it.
- 28:24Speaker 1: But that's not what you should be looking No, but
- 28:26Speaker 1: that not that's not how he progressed. I mean, like
- 28:29Speaker 1: in November, if he doesn't look as good as he
- 28:31Speaker 1: did last year, I'll say, Okay, he regressed. Yeah, you know,
- 28:34Speaker 1: but no, I get to give it a little yeah,
- 28:36Speaker 1: sample size and whatnot, but we should You shouldn't be
- 28:39Speaker 1: comparing him now to his first three games last year.
- 28:41Speaker 1: You should be comparing him now to the last three games. Well,
- 28:44Speaker 1: then then he's gotten better. He has because they did terrible.
- 28:47Speaker 1: I know, he has three games well, and in the
- 28:51Speaker 1: offense has been similarly terrible. Yeah, that like that's the thing.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Interception on the end zone against Buffalo, interception in the
- 28:59Speaker 1: end zone against in Miami. I mean exactly again, but
- 29:03Speaker 1: I agree with Fred's larger point that two games is
- 29:06Speaker 1: not enough to say he's regressed. Yeah. I don't think
- 29:09Speaker 1: he's looked good so far. But let you know, to
- 29:12Speaker 1: Fred's point, let it be like October November and was like,
- 29:14Speaker 1: you know, jeez, you know, they they played ten games.
- 29:16Speaker 1: He's really only had two really strong ones. He's regressed. Yeah,
- 29:19Speaker 1: two games. I'm not ready. I'm not ready for that.
- 29:21Speaker 1: At Alex's point, he's adjusted to the Mattip offense, so
- 29:24Speaker 1: you know, And then I go back to what I
- 29:26Speaker 1: said last year about like how Bill and you know,
- 29:29Speaker 1: treats everybody like he keeps people in a box, like
- 29:32Speaker 1: he tries to minimize mistakes and sometimes whether it's guys
- 29:36Speaker 1: rushing the passer or you know, in this case, a quarterback,
- 29:41Speaker 1: you know, he doesn't really let him loose all the time. Um,
- 29:45Speaker 1: you know, and like guys like Chandler Jones, you know,
- 29:48Speaker 1: could he have had a lot more sacks when he
- 29:50Speaker 1: was here, probably, but that's not the style of defense
- 29:53Speaker 1: that they play. That's not the job that they ask
- 29:55Speaker 1: him to do. Play to play. And I think it's
- 29:58Speaker 1: the same thing with with quarter backs. Yeah anything, And
- 30:01Speaker 1: I think Phil by the same token asked asked another
- 30:04Speaker 1: good question about the fifty fifty balls, And you know,
- 30:06Speaker 1: is that you know, like you talk about managing risk.
- 30:09Speaker 1: I mean we've seen some risk on those and are
- 30:12Speaker 1: they trying to push it? Are they trying to say
- 30:14Speaker 1: we need more explosive plays? Is that in his head
- 30:17Speaker 1: like that? You know? Is that is that what they're
- 30:20Speaker 1: trying to do, because that's what I think you talk
- 30:22Speaker 1: about changes from last year. I just there's a little
- 30:25Speaker 1: bit more pushing it down field than a little less
- 30:27Speaker 1: of taking the easy money underneath sometimes and not a lot,
- 30:30Speaker 1: But I think that's the area where where he can improve,
- 30:33Speaker 1: and you know, we'll see how it all kind of
- 30:35Speaker 1: comes together. The part. I mean, Paul and I were
- 30:37Speaker 1: talking about this morning of but I guarantee if they
- 30:40Speaker 1: scored seventeen points and didn't push it down the field
- 30:43Speaker 1: and just took the underneath stuff, people saying they could
- 30:45Speaker 1: score more down the field, I don't know. I don't think.
- 30:49Speaker 1: I honestly don't think it's been pushing it down field ball.
- 30:51Speaker 1: I think the other part is that Mike talked about
- 30:54Speaker 1: is like the willingness to just sort of throw it up. Yeah. Yeah,
- 30:58Speaker 1: Like that to me is that's a conscious effort and
- 31:01Speaker 1: a conscious decision by I don't know, give a chance
- 31:04Speaker 1: on it. If it's Belicheck, or if it's Mac himself
- 31:07Speaker 1: saying I have to do a better job, but give
- 31:08Speaker 1: him my receivers chances to make plays. I don't think
- 31:11Speaker 1: that they've thrown it down field. I mean I'm not
- 31:14Speaker 1: comparing it again to the first couple of games. I'm
- 31:16Speaker 1: comparing it to the balance of the season. Yeah, I
- 31:19Speaker 1: don't think that they've necessarily gone bombs away any more
- 31:22Speaker 1: often than they did last year. I just think that
- 31:24Speaker 1: they're doing it in a way like that. Last year,
- 31:26Speaker 1: they would take a shot, they would set it up,
- 31:28Speaker 1: the guy would pop open, and he would throw a bomb.
- 31:31Speaker 1: This year, it's just like, we don't care if we're
- 31:32Speaker 1: just we got this guy one on one over there,
- 31:34Speaker 1: we're gonna throw it up to him. They did it
- 31:36Speaker 1: to Parker in the first game. They did it to
- 31:37Speaker 1: Agalore in the second game. They did it to Agalore
- 31:40Speaker 1: in the first game down the right sideline. Then they
- 31:43Speaker 1: did it to Bone down the left sideline. But you
- 31:45Speaker 1: even said, Paul in the first game, that really wasn't
- 31:47Speaker 1: supposed to be a fifty fifty ball that Parker. No, No,
- 31:51Speaker 1: the first one was the one against Miami was absolutely
- 31:55Speaker 1: was his shirt the whole time. He gave me, actually
- 31:57Speaker 1: interfered with him the one Sunday. I don't think it
- 32:01Speaker 1: was a fifty fifty ball. I think it was a
- 32:02Speaker 1: bad throw. Okay, Yeah, what's my father? I was remembering
- 32:05Speaker 1: back to some of the training camp practices. Do you
- 32:06Speaker 1: remember that, like where they were throwing it down the
- 32:08Speaker 1: field a lot, and you were like, it feels like
- 32:10Speaker 1: they're doing this on purpose to like send a message,
- 32:12Speaker 1: you know, like local we can do now, but look
- 32:14Speaker 1: at our Shawnee New two. I mean it seems like,
- 32:17Speaker 1: you know, it's continued to be a piece and hopefully
- 32:19Speaker 1: they start to hit those ones. You know. That was
- 32:20Speaker 1: the John H. Smith play that everybody is is criticizing
- 32:23Speaker 1: Mac from missing Jacobe Myers on the third down play
- 32:27Speaker 1: was a deep over to John OU Smith. You know,
- 32:32Speaker 1: I saw that play five times in OTAs well. I mean,
- 32:37Speaker 1: what is there any harder to complete when you have pads?
- 32:39Speaker 1: Is there anything to be said about getting things on
- 32:41Speaker 1: tape early in the season, So teams have to look
- 32:44Speaker 1: at that and say, okay, they'll they'll they're willing to
- 32:46Speaker 1: do this probably part of that. Yeah, So well that
- 32:48Speaker 1: feeds into like another point that I thought was really
- 32:50Speaker 1: interesting talking with Paul this morning about you know, there's
- 32:52Speaker 1: been a lot of commentary about how simple the Patriot's
- 32:55Speaker 1: offense is, how there's no motion, there's no play action.
- 32:58Speaker 1: It's you know, by some people's terminology rudimentary. But I
- 33:02Speaker 1: feel like it's a race because other teams are studying
- 33:05Speaker 1: this now, so at some point they have to start
- 33:07Speaker 1: to add volume and make different twists and turns within
- 33:11Speaker 1: the offense. You know, can they do that at a
- 33:13Speaker 1: pace that will beat the defensive coordinators that are studying
- 33:17Speaker 1: this offense? And if it really is a rudimentary offense,
- 33:20Speaker 1: then they're gonna get a beat on it. They're going
- 33:21Speaker 1: to know exactly what to do. And when we talk
- 33:22Speaker 1: about it all the time as well, once we get
- 33:24Speaker 1: to week six, we'll know what we have. Well, then
- 33:26Speaker 1: other teams are going to know what you have too.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Are you still able to continue to push the envelope
- 33:30Speaker 1: with this offense and you know and build off of it?
- 33:32Speaker 1: Maybe they were just starting from a very simple place.
- 33:35Speaker 1: I don't love that. How hard is it to put
- 33:37Speaker 1: some play action plays in? But we'll see. I think
- 33:40Speaker 1: that's going to be a big thing of you know,
- 33:42Speaker 1: where are we at offensively in October? Are other teams
- 33:44Speaker 1: just completely aware of what they're doing and they and
- 33:47Speaker 1: they're really struggling to move the ball or are they
- 33:49Speaker 1: really starting to evolve and they're staying one step ahead
- 33:52Speaker 1: of the game and to you a point, Fred like,
- 33:53Speaker 1: if you were producing and you were scoring twenty eight
- 33:57Speaker 1: points a game, no one would care about pre snap motion,
- 33:59Speaker 1: no one would about play action, right, So they're not
- 34:02Speaker 1: doing those things. So now people are asking, well, maybe
- 34:05Speaker 1: if we add some of these elements in, we might
- 34:07Speaker 1: improve things or they get worse. I don't know it could.
- 34:11Speaker 1: I don't know how you know sending a guy in
- 34:14Speaker 1: motion is going to make you worse. But I mean,
- 34:16Speaker 1: I don't know if they just who knows what the
- 34:18Speaker 1: coaches said in the offseason to but maybe the mindset
- 34:23Speaker 1: was we're starting from scratch, you know, we're building from
- 34:27Speaker 1: the ground up with this offense. Yeah, and that was
- 34:30Speaker 1: something I talked to Evan a little bit about, where,
- 34:31Speaker 1: you know, there's such a game plan offense. It's like,
- 34:35Speaker 1: and I don't want to say they don't need a playbook,
- 34:37Speaker 1: but like, how much of the playbook is staying the
- 34:39Speaker 1: same week to week. I mean it feels like once
- 34:41Speaker 1: they get into the season, it's kind of all, right,
- 34:43Speaker 1: here are the plays we're gonna run. So maybe they did.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Maybe they are just kind of, look, let's just start
- 34:47Speaker 1: with the basics, and we're slowly going to start to
- 34:50Speaker 1: build and add to a point where by the end
- 34:52Speaker 1: of the season, we're gonna be doing RPOs, we're gonna
- 34:54Speaker 1: be doing play action, We're gonna you know, it's it's possible.
- 34:58Speaker 1: It's possible. I'm probably a little bit skeptical still that
- 35:01Speaker 1: you know that you can start from zero and go
- 35:02Speaker 1: to one hundred like that. But I don't know they
- 35:05Speaker 1: have a plan. I mean, I just I don't know
- 35:07Speaker 1: if it's gonna work. You know, I'm curious. You can't
- 35:09Speaker 1: get away from the fact that they lost an offensive
- 35:11Speaker 1: coordinator who knew this stuff, you know, yeah, like you know,
- 35:16Speaker 1: like nobody's business, and you have guys on offense now
- 35:20Speaker 1: who haven't done offense before. And maybe that was the
- 35:25Speaker 1: thing was starting from scratch here. Yeah, you know, everybody's
- 35:28Speaker 1: learning really scratch. Yeah, all right, eight five five past
- 35:32Speaker 1: five hundred is the a ticket hut line web radio
- 35:35Speaker 1: at Patriots dot com is the email address. Let's get
- 35:38Speaker 1: to the phones. We'll start with Patty and agawam, what's up, Patty?
- 35:43Speaker 1: What's up? Everyone can hear me? Okay, yeah, oh yeah,
- 35:48Speaker 1: all right, So just one quick question today, and I'm
- 35:53Speaker 1: glad that Evan brought up our pos yesterday and that's
- 35:56Speaker 1: kind of worked the direction I'm heading. I think we
- 35:59Speaker 1: see little bit of a shift to them using a
- 36:01Speaker 1: little bit more RPOs and this week's game to h
- 36:04Speaker 1: sort of get the offense go and see something works,
- 36:07Speaker 1: you know, sort of like throwing crap against the worm.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Well seeing what's six. Yeah, I mean, I think they
- 36:11Speaker 1: ran I think as five of them last weeks or so,
- 36:14Speaker 1: so I don't know. I mean, I know everybody here
- 36:16Speaker 1: is kind of pushing for it because that's what they
- 36:18Speaker 1: were good out at Alabama, and I mean even here
- 36:20Speaker 1: and Mac talk about him yesterday about Nick Saban getting
- 36:23Speaker 1: like so upset when they would run them in practice
- 36:25Speaker 1: because his defense would just be kind of be put
- 36:27Speaker 1: in no win situations. Mac was like, yeah, they're cool,
- 36:31Speaker 1: classic like MAPOs, they're cool. But I mean I think
- 36:35Speaker 1: it would be all for it. The more the more
- 36:36Speaker 1: wrinkles and stuff they can add, the better. And as
- 36:39Speaker 1: as you know, he wrote, it's he was really good
- 36:41Speaker 1: at him at Alabama. They were super effective. They're effective
- 36:43Speaker 1: in the league. Josh wasn't really into him, and I
- 36:46Speaker 1: think I think it's an easy place to continue to
- 36:48Speaker 1: build when you're running at RPO, Like what besides the quarterback,
- 36:53Speaker 1: you know, recognizing and making the right decision, Like, what
- 36:57Speaker 1: else has to really be good? Is it the offensive
- 37:00Speaker 1: line getting out of there? You know, what is it
- 37:02Speaker 1: that makes that happen? Well, David, they asked David Andrews
- 37:04Speaker 1: about him too, and uh, you know, he said, it's
- 37:07Speaker 1: it's kind of funny because you obviously have to be
- 37:08Speaker 1: careful not to get too far downfield. Um. And and
- 37:11Speaker 1: you know, David said, usually they'll they'll throw it quick enough,
- 37:14Speaker 1: but he said, uh, you know, usually they throw it
- 37:16Speaker 1: when you're making your best block. You know, so when
- 37:18Speaker 1: you're making your best run block, they feel feels like,
- 37:20Speaker 1: oh man, they're gonna throw it's not even gonna matter. Um. So,
- 37:22Speaker 1: you know, I think that's an element of it too,
- 37:24Speaker 1: But I think it's a lot on the quarterback identifying,
- 37:26Speaker 1: you know, what's going to be the right play and
- 37:29Speaker 1: what to choose. So, I mean, I think they ran
- 37:31Speaker 1: it every time on the RPOs this this week. So
- 37:34Speaker 1: we'll see if they can start to throw him maybe
- 37:36Speaker 1: a little bit, okay, Yeah, And I hope he settled
- 37:39Speaker 1: down a little bit too, because that last week's game,
- 37:42Speaker 1: he just he looked way too anty in the pocket,
- 37:44Speaker 1: you know, anything to get that guy settled down. I
- 37:47Speaker 1: think I think they'll be all right, Like Fred says,
- 37:49Speaker 1: they'll be fine. I thought he looked better in the pocket.
- 37:53Speaker 1: I wasn't. I wasn't quite as quite as like I mean,
- 37:56Speaker 1: right out of the gate. I know there were plays
- 37:57Speaker 1: where pressure came and he had to kind of dance
- 38:00Speaker 1: around a little bit. But I thought that was an improvement.
- 38:02Speaker 1: From the get go. It seemed right. You know, It's
- 38:04Speaker 1: almost like they said, the line's gonna block comfortable, Yeah,
- 38:07Speaker 1: the line's gonna block for you. We've talked to them.
- 38:10Speaker 1: They know, yeah, you worry about what you have to
- 38:14Speaker 1: do and don't worry about their job. Which going back,
- 38:17Speaker 1: I mean, that's what he did last year. It felt like,
- 38:19Speaker 1: I mean, he stepped right in and there's chaos going
- 38:20Speaker 1: around him. He seemed to be able to continue to
- 38:23Speaker 1: push the ball down the field and keep his eyes downfield.
- 38:25Speaker 1: And I think he can do it, and hopefully that
- 38:28Speaker 1: was a growing point for them to get some confidence.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Last week, Matts in Ohio, what's up, Matt hey, guys,
- 38:35Speaker 1: I'll the going good. Hey Matt Hey, Paul, I've only
- 38:39Speaker 1: got the chance of listening to you on Felger and
- 38:42Speaker 1: Matt yesterday, and thank god you were on there because
- 38:44Speaker 1: you kind of settled Felger down a little bit. But
- 38:48Speaker 1: why did you do that question? Well, I think the
- 38:51Speaker 1: question was completely unfair with m comparing mac Jones to
- 38:57Speaker 1: Jalen Hurtson and Tula, I mean, and then and then
- 39:01Speaker 1: him making the points out, Well, everybody last year said
- 39:04Speaker 1: they would have took mac Jones number one. Overall, those
- 39:07Speaker 1: are two separate groups of quarterbacks that I mean, obviously
- 39:11Speaker 1: Jalen hurts and two are going to be. Yeah. I
- 39:14Speaker 1: did correct him on that. I know what you're talking
- 39:16Speaker 1: about because he went he went from the three Alabama
- 39:19Speaker 1: quarterbacks to the five first rounders last year, which is
- 39:23Speaker 1: two Yeah, totally different sets of players. Yeah, absolutely, I
- 39:28Speaker 1: mean yeah, I mean I would still take Trevor Lawrence
- 39:30Speaker 1: over Mac Jones. But that's a different story. I mean,
- 39:33Speaker 1: but um, but but my point is, I just I
- 39:36Speaker 1: just don't understand why everybody's just, you know, calling for
- 39:39Speaker 1: Mac Jones right now. I mean, it's it's a progression.
- 39:42Speaker 1: It's the second game of the of the year. He
- 39:44Speaker 1: played better on Sunday. He's just going to get more confident.
- 39:48Speaker 1: I think he has all the tools in the world
- 39:50Speaker 1: to be able to make us contenders. I mean, the Matt,
- 39:54Speaker 1: Patricia and and Bill are going to put him in
- 39:57Speaker 1: situations to help the team, and they're not They're not
- 40:02Speaker 1: trying to make him look bad or you know, gonna
- 40:06Speaker 1: make the Patriots to lose. I mean, come on, Bill.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Bill's not stupid, and and so is so is Maphatrician.
- 40:12Speaker 1: He's not. He's not dumb as well. He might be
- 40:14Speaker 1: a defensive coach, but again he's smart. So I think
- 40:17Speaker 1: it's just we're going through some morning pains right now.
- 40:19Speaker 1: I mean, and it just happens to mac Jones just
- 40:22Speaker 1: gets the brunt of it. But I think I think
- 40:24Speaker 1: we'll be all right. I mean I'm optimistic. And uh,
- 40:28Speaker 1: I mean, what do you guys think. I mean, obviously
- 40:29Speaker 1: you think the same way. Sure. I mean, I just
- 40:32Speaker 1: don't understand why everybody's just, you know, jumping all over
- 40:35Speaker 1: him already. I mean, well, I don't think everybody's jumping
- 40:38Speaker 1: all over I think people are some people. I think
- 40:41Speaker 1: there's some people that are wondering if if he's the
- 40:43Speaker 1: guy in the future, I don't regress. I also would
- 40:46Speaker 1: disagree with that he played better Sunday than he did
- 40:48Speaker 1: in the first game. I don't think he did. I
- 40:51Speaker 1: think he was better against Miami than he was in
- 40:53Speaker 1: this game. I thought his pocket presence was better in
- 40:55Speaker 1: this game. But I don't think he threw the ball
- 40:57Speaker 1: better in this game. I think that this game offered
- 40:59Speaker 1: more or opportunities that he didn't take advantage of. You know, yeah,
- 41:04Speaker 1: I think I think there were points they left on
- 41:06Speaker 1: the table this game that I don't think there were
- 41:09Speaker 1: points they left on the me unless you want to
- 41:10Speaker 1: count the last drive. The last drive would have been
- 41:12Speaker 1: a scoring drive. If time doesn't run out at the
- 41:15Speaker 1: end of the game, they're going to score in that drive.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Maybe not points, but but I think yards. I don't think.
- 41:20Speaker 1: I don't think they drove. I don't think they drove
- 41:22Speaker 1: into scoring position very often in the game. Yeah, but
- 41:25Speaker 1: I think that was more their fault than Pittsburgh's. Yeah,
- 41:28Speaker 1: they they're not good. Well, I must say something bad thing,
- 41:34Speaker 1: all right, Thanks Matt Um, Mike's and Puerto Rico. What's up, Mike?
- 41:39Speaker 1: Good morning everybody. Hey, hey Paul, have you resolved your
- 41:45Speaker 1: flipping through Amazon back to TV problem? What you're Amazon,
- 41:51Speaker 1: you're streaming inability to change channel issue? You can't? Are
- 41:58Speaker 1: you willing to put in? You will need to do
- 42:01Speaker 1: a one dollar, a one time sixty dollars investment. No
- 42:04Speaker 1: I can pick up. I'm not willing to spend any
- 42:05Speaker 1: more money on streaming services. I have every one of
- 42:07Speaker 1: them and I'm going broke. I think he's talking about
- 42:10Speaker 1: a piece of harden. I don't want anything out like
- 42:13Speaker 1: a Roku or something. Yeah, I was a chrome can.
- 42:17Speaker 1: I would think if you do a chrome cant and
- 42:19Speaker 1: then just hit the input button and then you can
- 42:21Speaker 1: flip from the dreaming character the TV. But if that's
- 42:24Speaker 1: not what you want to do, then no, I don't
- 42:26Speaker 1: want to spend any more money to do it. Oh
- 42:28Speaker 1: I see what he's saying. I see, yeah, Yeah, that's
- 42:32Speaker 1: that's what I do. And even with no, I'll just
- 42:34Speaker 1: not watch the game, which is perfectly fine tonight, A nice,
- 42:38Speaker 1: a nice deficient matchup that I have zero interest in,
- 42:42Speaker 1: and I will not put it on. You love Jacobe Brissette. Yeah,
- 42:46Speaker 1: and won't let thing ball because if you do it
- 42:48Speaker 1: that way with there in TV, you can actually do
- 42:51Speaker 1: what's your picture and picture that you can have like
- 42:54Speaker 1: one thick screen, one wall screen and it's not bad.
- 42:57Speaker 1: How far are you? Do you use picture and picture fred?
- 43:00Speaker 1: What I don't? I don't have. I wish I could
- 43:02Speaker 1: picture pictures like the one casualty of what you don't
- 43:07Speaker 1: think picture and picture. I don't get picture and picture
- 43:10Speaker 1: on your TV. I don't. I don't think so I
- 43:12Speaker 1: have a really I don't think. I haven't used it
- 43:14Speaker 1: in twenty years. I haven't A long time ago I
- 43:18Speaker 1: had a TV that you could do split screen, do
- 43:21Speaker 1: a screen, you could have a square, you could put
- 43:23Speaker 1: different squares in different corners. It always sounded great. I
- 43:26Speaker 1: haven't used it like ago. I think Mike could probably
- 43:29Speaker 1: confirm this, like you need to go different input Like
- 43:31Speaker 1: you can't watch like one TV channel and the same
- 43:33Speaker 1: input and and blow up. So that's the problem you
- 43:36Speaker 1: need to like when am I going to be watching?
- 43:37Speaker 1: That's the problem with entering a third party app? Yeah? Yeah,
- 43:40Speaker 1: but if you But but I see what he's saying though,
- 43:42Speaker 1: if you're streaming it too, you know you're you're one
- 43:44Speaker 1: of your other inputs, then you can do it. So
- 43:47Speaker 1: I don't like. How far are you from pebody? Can
- 43:48Speaker 1: you make a trip up installation? There. I don't know. Entertainment. Yeah,
- 43:52Speaker 1: do you have a figure for it? I mean, have
- 43:54Speaker 1: you happy to take it for free? We could put
- 43:55Speaker 1: in the grotto. The grotto is where I don't have
- 43:58Speaker 1: a grotto. All right, thanks, I'm very happily married. That's
- 44:03Speaker 1: one of my favorite holdovers from the remote shows during
- 44:05Speaker 1: COVID was was Paul outside at his pool jealous? Of
- 44:09Speaker 1: course I was jealous from then. One day it was like, Paul,
- 44:15Speaker 1: where's your grotto? I don't know, I'm grottos And now
- 44:17Speaker 1: we just were like, he's a grotto up back there.
- 44:18Speaker 1: It's it's a whole thing. Got you did the shows
- 44:21Speaker 1: from her deck, all you heard was ambulances and go
- 44:25Speaker 1: back inside? What are you doing? Meg Marant of WWE
- 44:30Speaker 1: Dan's in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Hey, you probably never heard that one.
- 44:37Speaker 1: Van um So, I just have a quick question. It's
- 44:41Speaker 1: mostly for Fred feels for the league this game? Uh So,
- 44:47Speaker 1: is this the week that DeVante Parker gets more than
- 44:50Speaker 1: three catches? Is this the week against the secondary? Yes?
- 44:53Speaker 1: More than one? Yes, Patriot time. If you guys had
- 44:59Speaker 1: to pick, who do you think the breakout receiver is
- 45:00Speaker 1: going to be this week? For the Patriots. Let's see.
- 45:03Speaker 1: I mean so, in other words, it can't be Agila Myers.
- 45:07Speaker 1: They not already broke out. It's the question, really, who's
- 45:10Speaker 1: gonna have the most reception? Parker tight ends. Maybe I'm
- 45:14Speaker 1: gonna say Hunter Henry Really, yeah, are you really gonna
- 45:19Speaker 1: throw a curball one? I think that's why, Like I'm
- 45:22Speaker 1: assuming that we can't say Myers or Agil. I think
- 45:25Speaker 1: they'll be the leading receivers. Okay, one of those two
- 45:27Speaker 1: guys will be the leader, the guy who hasn't really
- 45:29Speaker 1: had a lot yet that will He's break out Henry touchdown,
- 45:32Speaker 1: Henry touched Daniel. Daniel's looking for someone really hasn't done
- 45:35Speaker 1: much yet to break out John Smith. Okay, okay, I
- 45:39Speaker 1: see you. I'm gonna go Hunter Henry. I might have
- 45:41Speaker 1: had to use him in my fantasy league. Just all right,
- 45:44Speaker 1: Dalton Schultz a little iffy. I had to make a move.
- 45:48Speaker 1: That's three moves in three weeks. I'm disgusted with myself.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Good pick, good pick. I like it. All right, Thank
- 45:53Speaker 1: you guys. All right, you're doing great work. By the way,
- 45:55Speaker 1: she needs to speak up. I'm gonna pick Parker, Okay,
- 46:00Speaker 1: I kind of want to give him a little boost
- 46:02Speaker 1: of confidence. I don't think much. I think for some
- 46:05Speaker 1: things were not his fault. Last week in particular, I agree,
- 46:09Speaker 1: I thought that Mac could have thrown him the ball
- 46:11Speaker 1: a little bit more accurately to him, all right, And um,
- 46:15Speaker 1: I think with all the talk he's in the news,
- 46:17Speaker 1: all the Beat reporters are writing about his lack of productivity,
- 46:20Speaker 1: and the Baltimore Secondary feels like an opportunity for them
- 46:23Speaker 1: to try to air it out. So it is so
- 46:25Speaker 1: funny how like the narrative comes and then everybody writes
- 46:28Speaker 1: about it. Right, It's so funny. We're off the Shanahan offense.
- 46:31Speaker 1: Now nobody's asking the Shanhan offense anymore. Now we're doing
- 46:33Speaker 1: something to only different. It's been such a unique journey
- 46:38Speaker 1: for Parker. I mean now, for the first few days
- 46:41Speaker 1: of camp, it just felt like they threw every single
- 46:43Speaker 1: ball to him, you know, like they were, like I
- 46:44Speaker 1: think Paul said, like trying to prove a point with him,
- 46:47Speaker 1: and that they're continuing to do it. I think he will.
- 46:49Speaker 1: I don't think he's ever gonna like break out break out,
- 46:52Speaker 1: but like I think he's got a good play, he's
- 46:54Speaker 1: got some use. I think Parker has been a good player.
- 46:57Speaker 1: I don't think he's ever lived up to what he
- 46:58Speaker 1: was supposed to be. But I wonder if it's not
- 47:03Speaker 1: necessarily the kind of guy that fits with what they do,
- 47:05Speaker 1: like throwing balls to a covered receiver. I don't really understand.
- 47:10Speaker 1: That seems to run counter to Bill Belichick's philosophy. All right,
- 47:15Speaker 1: we're gonna take a break. We'll be right back after this.

- 57:30Speaker 1: bridge Stone, I guess bridge Stone on Stone upgrade bridge fire.
- 57:34Speaker 1: So I got my I got my inspection yesterday. You
- 57:37Speaker 1: got through, were you? That's that's what That's what Paul
- 57:41Speaker 1: is annual physical shady, the shady gas station where come
- 57:47Speaker 1: on in? Guy even offer me a slice of pizza.
- 57:49Speaker 1: I was like, no, I'm good, I'm good. I'm good. Yeah,
- 57:52Speaker 1: all over it. No, I just because I got out
- 57:54Speaker 1: of Felder Mass yesterday and my engine light was off.
- 57:58Speaker 1: Probably the first good time, good time to start. I'm
- 58:00Speaker 1: in at least three weeks, So I said to myself,
- 58:03Speaker 1: his car like his body. I'm trying. I know, I
- 58:06Speaker 1: know what the lights on for the lights on for
- 58:09Speaker 1: the catalytic converter. That's what mine was just on too,
- 58:12Speaker 1: So it's not it doesn't affect you driving, but you know,
- 58:15Speaker 1: it is a concern about passing inspection. So um, the
- 58:19Speaker 1: light was off when I got out of felgroom. As
- 58:20Speaker 1: I said, I'm going right, good time. I'm going right
- 58:22Speaker 1: to the gas station before it comes back on. Passed.
- 58:27Speaker 1: There you go. It was up in UM and I
- 58:29Speaker 1: think starting in November. So my inspection expired in July. Yeah,
- 58:35Speaker 1: so obviously end were end of September here, I think
- 58:38Speaker 1: in November. There's a new law that if you do that,
- 58:42Speaker 1: when you go in, they still give you. So if
- 58:44Speaker 1: I went in, they go back to July. Whereas I
- 58:48Speaker 1: beat the system I got for a while with the
- 58:50Speaker 1: COVID they had, they were really lax on that, like
- 58:53Speaker 1: even even time. Yeah, they were like not even stopping
- 58:56Speaker 1: anybody anymore for you know, outdated. The one last says
- 59:00Speaker 1: they almost would never stop you for that. I haven't
- 59:04Speaker 1: stopped for that. But if you get stopped, you're going
- 59:07Speaker 1: to get nailed for it every time, like they said that,
- 59:10Speaker 1: like you'll never get away with it if you get
- 59:11Speaker 1: pulled over anything. I got pulled over once, luckily, it
- 59:14Speaker 1: was in my town, so they let me go. But
- 59:17Speaker 1: I was just driving. It was like a construction area,
- 59:19Speaker 1: so there was a cop on detail and he pulled
- 59:21Speaker 1: me over and for that, for that, and you got
- 59:23Speaker 1: pulled over for two Alexan, Yeah, well I got a
- 59:26Speaker 1: written warning. I was really lucky ticket. Yeah. But when
- 59:30Speaker 1: I went to get the inspection, they said that the
- 59:32Speaker 1: license plate was kind of peeling a little bit and
- 59:35Speaker 1: like when they put the camera on it, it wasn't registering.
- 59:38Speaker 1: So I needed to get a new license plate, which
- 59:41Speaker 1: takes like two months. Yeah, So it came and I
- 59:44Speaker 1: finally got the license plate last week. I put it
- 59:46Speaker 1: on my engine. I was like, off, it makes me
- 59:51Speaker 1: want to move to Rhode Island because they only do
- 59:53Speaker 1: it every two years. Stop. Um, this is great. But
- 59:57Speaker 1: Evan's here and he just came back from practice, and
- 59:59Speaker 1: I know he's got a hurry because he's going to
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: wolf work after this, right, I am, yeah, nice jacket
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: fitting the big gas. So Evan, what's going on out there? Well?
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: Today at practice we saw Jacobe Myers and Kyle Dugger.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: They were going through stretching for Kyle Dugger. I would say, look,
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: we were in there just for stretching, so I don't
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: want to overreact to it, but he was stretching with
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: the rest of his teammates, whereas yesterday he was stretching
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: off to the side, so maybe a little bit of
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: a positive step for him. Jacobe Myers same routine as
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: he had yesterday. The only player missing from the fifty
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: three was ray Kwon McMillan, who also wasn't there yesterday,
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: then turned out to be limited on the official report.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: So we'll see what happens. But we all know that
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: not having Jacoby on Sunday would be huge. But not
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: having Kyle Dugger for this particular matchup is also a
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: really big deal. Going back to that twenty twenty game
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: covering Mark Andrews containing Lamar Jackson, he was a centerpiece
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: of that game plan two years ago against the Ravens,
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: so not having him out there would be massive. Yeah. Agree.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: How was the mood out there? I know it was raining,
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: a little raining. Yeah, you know how everybody gets when
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: it rains. Rains on the mood. Juan Bentley told us
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: to put our umbrellas away. He was disappointed in the
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: media that we were beating babies with umbrellas as they
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: were all out there practicing in the rain. So he said, hey,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: not what the umbrellas someone us have to do our
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: own laundry, Juan. They can't just go in there and
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: throw throw it in the pile and it gets washed.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: For smaller media contingency because it's not mac today, or
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: I would say definitely smaller. There are a lot of
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: people going to greet Vents here in a couple of minutes,
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: so maybe a little bit in between the two. Yeah,
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: And usually when it rains, it's like forget it. It's
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: like us beat writers and nobody else is out there,
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: you know, sucking it up in the rain. But today
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: a little bit bigger of a crowd, I think because
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: of vents, okay, and any grousing going on. It was raining,
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: so you know, it was any comments on the Celtics
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: coaching situation plenty that I'm going to stay away from it,
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: but plenty we gave Alex Alex else went off on
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: that in there. Yeah, I would imagine, all right, Evan,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: thank you very much. Your relieved of your duties. You
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: can go check out the jacket fitting. Of course, Vince
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: going into the Patriots Hall of Fame this weekend, uh
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: here at Patriot Place. What time does that start? Four o'clock,
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: four o'clock, opened to all, open to all, anyone can
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: come and watch that. It's always a cool sight seeing
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: people fill the stairs at Patriot Place down by the hall.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: So that'll be four o'clock on Saturday. Should be a good,
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: good crowdy. I feel like Vince is one of the
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: beloved old Patriots. Yeah I had one in a while,
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: right now, Well we did we last two years ago,
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: Racy Sermani and Seymour, right yeah, last year last year. Yeah,
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: they did have it. I thought they didn't know I
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: was there. Yeah, okay, yeah, yeah, um yeah, so this
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: this should be good. And then of course at halftime
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: during the game, they'll be honoring Vince. They're honoring Vince
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: as well for the people who come to the game.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: So big Vince will four weekend here at Patriot Plays.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: Oh memories, huh big Vince? Yeah, love love which stands
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: out I think the I mean the iconic Ravens game.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: Of course that you know that that that AFC Championship game.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: But I mean I think that was a game that
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: showed just how good he was. And you know, for
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: somebody like me, who really loves defense and and you know,
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: loved early on studying and and and you know, kind
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: of figure out what they were doing for him to
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: go from like just kind of being a nose tackle
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: and in the middle of those guys um to being
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: like a movable piece along the defensive line where they
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: just started putting him everywhere, and you know, he was
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: able to I'm not the longest guy. I mean, he's
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: built like a nose tackle. But I just think I'm
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: hoping to talk to some of the guys today just
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: to hear some of the current Patriots kind of put
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: his style, his his body type playing in this role,
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: like what you know, what was different about him in perspective.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: But um, you know, I think just tearing his achilles
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: in twenty thirteen, but then, I mean I thought that
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: might be it for him. That's a major injury, especially
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: for a that that's that big. But he came back
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: and you know, really played well in twenty fourteen and
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: won that Super Bowl with them, which I thought was
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: just a great, great way to go out for him.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: What stood out against us on the phone right now
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: on the Sports Hub, Yeah, there was a very obscure
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: play and we're gonna get a chance just to give
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: a little plug here. Matt Smith and I are gonna
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: hopefully get Vince this afternoon for a podcast for our
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Pats from the Past podcast, which if we do get
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: it today, that will be up probably within a week.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: I would say one of the plays that I wanted
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: to ask him about is a little obscure. It's from
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: the two thousand and nine game in Denver. Oh. Yeah,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: when he went all the way to the sideline. Yeah,
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: there was a screen pass that he diagnosed, and you
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: just don't necessarily see nose tackles being instrumental in stopping
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: a screen pass. And it was the game in Denver.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: Josh McDaniels got under the skinner Fred Kirsch after the game.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: But I believe the Patriots fumbled the Broncos took over
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: and overtime at like the forty yard line, and they
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: didn't get into field goal range, and they didn't get
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: into field goal range largely because of back to back
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: players that Vince made in that game. And I wanted
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: to see if he remembered it. You know, he probably won't,
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: but those are the kinds of things that stuck out
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: to me just seeing you know, I know a lot
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: of people look at like him deflecting a pass and
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: picking it off against the Chargers. I think, you know,
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: he was just so athletic for a guy that size. Yep,
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: you know, and one of those and one of the
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: bridge players that kind of connected the first dynasty to
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: the second three Super Bowls, and one of the few
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: guys that kind of had a hand in both of
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: those those pieces of it. You know, he made fun
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: of me that I would tell you we were on
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: the road and we're in the hotel. So I get
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: on the hotel and I get off the elevator on
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: the you know, I go down the hallway and I realize,
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: oh man, I'm on the wrong floor. I had the
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: wrong floor. So I go back to the elevator, call
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: for it opens up. Vince's in the elevator. So I
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: get on and I pressed the button for one floor
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: because I was It's like, you're taking the elevator for
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: one floor. I'm like, I got off on the wrong floor.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: Goes oh way to light tell everybody. It was like,
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: I like, do you think really people care that I
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: use the elevator for a guy whays like three forty
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: I mean, right, he's making fun of me, like would
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: you take the stairs? Vince? I deserved it though, you know,
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: but a little ribbing. But you ever take those stairs
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: and hotels you never know if the door that you're
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: going through is gonna be unlocked and all the I
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: it wasn't a hotel. But when I was living in
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: La I went to like a movie screen and you know,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: like somebody trying to get people to come see their
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: indie movie. And so they had done this whole thing
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: at a small theater and the movie was terrible. I
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: mean just you know, I'm alone. It's, you know, part
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: of my job. You got to go to these kind
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: of things. And so they're like, okay, you know afterwards,
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: we're gonna have a reception. You know, we'll have a
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: Q and A. And like it's like it was going
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: to drag on and I'm like, screw this. I'm getting
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: out of here. So they have one of the exits
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: at the front of the building. So I'm like, I'm out,
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: go to the door, get through that door. There's one
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: exit door, and it's like I think it's alarmed, but
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: I'm like, screw it. We set off the alarm in
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: the whole place. I just I just started running. I
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: didn't want to deal with any of that stuff. I'm like,
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: oh man, I hope I didn't just ruin their whole
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: Q and A. Somebody had to get away from our movie.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: But that's what you're afraid of. Some of those doors
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: you get like, right, You're like, if I get through
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: the storem I'm gonna set off from alarm ers and
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: like the back you know, the back hallways of hotels
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: are like a maze. I mean, you can really get lost. Well,
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: I mean I just in Vegas. I think I told
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: you guys. I went into the wrong hotel and like
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: went all the way up to my room before I
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: realized I was in the wrong hotel. Oh Vegas. It
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: was like they were literally they were cleaning the room,
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: and I'm like, this isn't my room, Like what am
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: I doing? But the naked guy on the bed didn't
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: tee off, like maybe it is my room? Actually? Oh
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: whoa all right? Eight five five pats five hundred eight
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: ticket hut line eight five five pats five hundred Um.
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: So Evan was here. We got the practice update. Alex
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: Is also left. She's going to Wolf work as well. Um,
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: you know we need we got three people. Big man
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: put his jacket on. I think there's some Yeah, I'm
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: only you know seriously though, people like to know behind
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: the scenes, you know, this stuff that we have to
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: set up for, you know, microphones and you know, you
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: had a conversation with another member of the stat Chris
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: Googelos was in here talking about some of the stuff
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: behind the scenes, making sure it's shot properly, and it's not.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: I mean, it's all not all sunshine. Just roll out
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: of bed and get all the stuff done. This stuff
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: just does happen. You have an empire that you're in
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: charge of. This stuff doesn't happen. There's a lot of
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: work behind the scenes to make this right. We got
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: to get the weather machine ready for the Ravens this weekend.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: Do you think that that that's a sign that Bill
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: is maybe losing it a little bit, the fact that
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: it's raining so hard today and not Sunday. Maybe maybe
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: Ernie's just getting it warm. Maybe Bill's slipping a little bit.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: I could think it's a dry run today on the
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: French Like I'm asking am a serious question. No, I'm
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: watching this thing on TV. This guy's getting whipped on
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: TV's whip like torture the whip. Yeah, some liquorice whip Yeah,
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: orange whip up cream. Anthony and Delaware had say having
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: big Head on the show was great. You guys picked
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: up right where y'all left off. It's like he never left.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: Will he do a show where people are listening? I've tried,
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: But that guy, not Fitzy, is Eric times ten with
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: an annoying voice. Who does he do a show with him?
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: Or somebody? He says third, But generally when he's on,
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: it's Fitzy. Yeah, it must be maybe the pocket. Who
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: does he do the podcast with the show? Yeah? No,
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: he They might be another guy on there too, but
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: I think Krisheim was added to their podcast, to the podcast.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: But when he's on the radio, it's him and Fitzy.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: I hear him on the Rate on the weekends all
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: the time. I heard duson. He's a regular guest, him
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: regular guest. He is, So, my guys, my guys, two
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: o'clock in the middle of the Saturday. What else are
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: you doing? Voice? I think of a few things. As
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: Andy said yesterday, his voice and anyway, I wanted to
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: talk about Mac not an all twenty two guy, But
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: I think I know the game well. To me, it
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: seems like Mac is doing too much thinking in the pocket,
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: late on throws, inaccurate at times, and just some weird
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: times to throw deep down field. Don't get me wrong,
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: I like him being aggressive, but some of his deep
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: shots come in odd downs and times. As a cerebral quarterback,
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: he's got to use that to his advantage as much
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: as possible. Just not there right now. Probably a mix
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: of the system, slash coaches, slash confidence, and him, but
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: he still doesn't get a pass. I never fell in
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: love with Mac coming out of college. I always thought
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: he was just average slash Fine, that's fine with me
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: as a third round pick, not as the fifteenth overall. Okay, Well,
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: if you wanted him, then you know he wasn't going
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: to be available in the third round, right, I mean,
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: I know, I'm I'm kind of more with the emailer here,
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: but yeah, you have to sort of look at the
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: other way too. I mean, if you want the guy
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: his way, he was going to be available in the
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: third round. Yeah, I mean, look at the quarterbacks this
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: year too. I mean, you know, I think that was
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: one of the big debates or any of those guys.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: But if you want him, like Pittsburgh was picking a
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: first round er, maybe, but they had to go get them.
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: Joaquin from Santa Rosa, California. I hope you're doing well.
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: I had a couple of questions. One, what would be
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: key factors for the Patriots to beat the Ravens, specifically
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: on defense? That's his first question, limit, big place. Yeah,
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: that's where I start. Don't make mistakes, communication, you know,
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: play good team, good teams, sound defense, tackle, well, you
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: know all that stuff, take good aim, just make them
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: work down the field, you know. And I think that's
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: a theme against a lot of teams this year. Is
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: is going to be limited in the big plays? And yeah, yeah,
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: that's where it starts from me. Second question, could this
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: be a game where you could see Hunter Henry and
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: DeVante Park are more involved with receptions and making big
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: plays as always, keep the amazing work. Patriots Unfiltered will
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: forever be the best podcast and best source of providing
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: US Patriots fans with the best Patriots content. Well, thank you,
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: that's right. We are the world's original podcasts world. We
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: are the children. Uh yeah, I like Hunter Henry. I
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: mean Paul. Paul brought it up, and that was the
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: same way I was thinking, um, you know, trying to
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: get him matched up with some of their linebackers. Maybe
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: it's interesting because I feel like in the past, the
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: Patriots were so able to offensively dictate matchups because they
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: could go heavy, you know, and they could and then
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: the team would kind of correspond with their base defense,
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: and then you know, you might be able to flex
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: out your tight end and get them lined up on
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: a linebacker. I just don't know if they have that
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: capability as much anymore because they only really running one
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: or two personnel groupings, so I'm not sure exactly schematically
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: how they would get Hunter Henry freed up. But but
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: I like him. I don't I don't think it's been
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: I don't think all of a sudden he's bad like
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: and he's falling off a cliff. I just think it's
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: kind of been a thing of circumstance for these first
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: two games, at least for him. With Johnny, it's kind
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: of more of the same. And I'm not quite as
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: as still, you know, thinking that's going to turn around.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: Bill and DC haven't written in a while, just needed
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: a break for all the gloom and doom, all the
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: talk this summer was about what a mess the play
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: calling was going to be under Patrician judge. You folks
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: obviously know a lot more than I do. But to
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: my eye, I haven't really noticed too many glaring instances
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: where I said, Wow, that's a terrible call. Can you
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: imagine if they like squid like fifty points with how
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: people would be blaring people, Oh yeah, Like they haven't
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: scored in two games, and people are still blaring the
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: media the operation. It's not glaring that, oh it's bad,
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: it's glaring that they can't move the ball in score?
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: Is that because of the play calling or the execution?
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: I couldn't tell you, Fred, all right, I could not
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: tell you. All right, I'll tell you this. We'll repeat
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: all of the things that Mike said in the first hour.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: They're last in the league in motion, they're last in
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: the league in play action passes. Why is that? Is
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: that coaching or does Max say no, no, no, no,
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: don't put your Kobe Myers in motion? Or is it
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: the offensive coaching staff that are doing it that way?
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: It's we're building and they're not moving the ball and
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: score it's a process, Paul, right in the process. And
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: like I said, if they had been scoring a lot
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: of points in the first two games, can you imagine
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: the beaten I honestly, if you looked at the games, said, boy,
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: the play calling here is terrible. Now, I think more
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: so than normal. Yes, like like the deep ball to
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: John who Smith on third and two the other day. Yeah. Now,
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: I'm not blaming Mapetrician because I don't think that mac
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: Jones has played all that well. I think that's why
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: you're you're you're struggling. But you can't possibly look at
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: the way this is set up and think it's going well.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: It's the progress. Baby. I didn't ask you what's going
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: to happen in twenty in twenty games from now. I'm
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: asking you right now, do you think it's going well?
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: I think right now they're not going to be where
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: they need They're not where they need to be, but
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: they're gonna know. Is it going well? I'm not asking
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: you how you think it's going to unfold? Is it
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: going well? Right now? They've scored twenty four points in
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: two games. Yeah, you want more production, Okay, Yeah, that's all.
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: But I'm not blaming the play call. You can blame
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: whatever you want. I'm not telling you who you have
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: to blame. Okay, there's still the head scratching run on
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: second and ten, but that was there under Josh, and
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: there haven't been any trick plays. But aside from that,
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: it seems like Patricia is doing a pretty decent job.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: But you guys follow it a lot closer than I do.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: I like to get your take on the play calling.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: Is it better or worse than you expected? Paul? Is
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: it better or worse than you expect? It's exactly what
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: I expected. I thought they have a very average offense,
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: and they've been I guess slightly worse. Okay, the play
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: calling is I don't I count it all? Fred, I
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: like a specifically about the player. I think that they've
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: called a lot of players that I don't agree with. Okay,
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: but to the emailer's point, I'm going to defend the
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: email here a little bit. Josh called a lot of
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: plays I didn't agree with. Right, The only difference was
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: Josh scored. They haven't been uh, Kevin, Yeah, I mean,
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: I just I think if you had told me like
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: a month ago, they're gonna be last in the league.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: And like all these tricks that we're talking about, I'd
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: be like, oh, really, like like like forget about like
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: EPA and all these other Environmental Protection Agency stats that
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: everybody loves. They're they're like lasting points. Like there's like
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: one team I think that has scored less than one
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: or two teams Like that's all I care about. And again,
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: they were in the red zone once against Miami. They
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: were in the red zone twice against Pittsburgh, and one
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: of those times they took over possession in the red
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: zone to the red zone. Was fine, They're okay, yeah,
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: I mean, everybody, it's Joe Burrow the week before, right, well,
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: Joe Burrow scored more points than you did. No, but
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: like didn't they have like five turnovers again and they
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: still scored more points than you did. But that's a
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: pretty I mean, I would say that the Cincinnati offense
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: better than the Patriots off Everybody else would say they're
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: struggling like crazy right now. And they've been sacked there
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: ateen times in two games. So when they played Pittsburgh's defense,
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: they did better than then they played Dallas's defense. Those
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: are both pretty good defenses. Oh are they use Dallas?
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: Is a good defense. It's supposed to be Michael Parsons,
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: isn't he. Michael Parsons is a good player. Yes, yeah,
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: And you also didn't face Pittsburgh's defense that Cincinnati faced
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: because t J. Watt didn't play in the game. True,
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: that's very true. And do you think Miami's defense is
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: very good? Um, well, Cincinnati didn't play Miami. No, but
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: do you think Miami's defense is really good? And that's
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: why they didn't score against Miami because then the next
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: week they gave up thirty eight. Yeah. Well it's the
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: first game. It was starting from scratch here. Again, I'm
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: not I'm not like making blanket observations here. I'm just
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: telling you through two games, they haven't scored. Okay, So
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: you want to say that it's not the fault of
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: the play calling, Okay, you might be right. I don't
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: see it. It It might it might just be Mac Jones.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: I don't know what the play calls are, so I
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: don't know how you can say that I see you
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: know what the play call? You see him? I don't know.
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: All I know is that they called the pass or
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: a run, right, I don't know what the play call is.
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: You don't know how much of it is Max's decision.
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: I don't know why Mac didn't throw the ball to
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: Kobe Myers on that play, right. Maybe Ma Patricia said
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: this is gonna be there, down there. Let's we're gonna
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: take a shot. We're setting this up to John H. Smith.
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: This is why I don't get on Mac Jones from
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: missing a wide open guy and and everyone said, talked
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: about this again yesterday when we talked about it earlier.
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: Sometimes the play call is something that you you get.
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: You gotta get it, and you gotta get it out.
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: You're not the plays not designed to go through three
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: or four different progressions. Like sometimes there can be a
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: guy open on one side that you're never gonna see
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: because you're you're not supposed to see, you're not looking there.
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: And that's why I think the still shots on Twitter
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: are so misleading, very deceiving. It can be tough. I
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: mean the LJ one Mac didn't see them. I mean
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: it's just you could see the massive humanity right in
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: front of Mac and so but those are the things
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: that you don't really take into account when you get
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: the screen shot and you just look and it's like,
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: oh my gosh it, But you could be one hundred
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: percent right. This could have nothing to do with the
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: play calling. This could have everything to do with a
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: lack of execution. The plays are there and they're missing them. Yeah,
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: Kevin and Dublin. Based on what the rest of the
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: AFC East has done so far this year, particularly the
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: Dolphins in the New Jersey Jets, how has this impacted
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: your assessment of the patriots chances to get to the playoffs.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: It hasn't. What is it Miami, Miami and the Jets.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: I mean, we know Buffalo is gonna Yeah. I mean
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: they're in a league of their own. I thought that
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: they were going to be um in a battle with
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: Miami for second place, and that's I still think that. Yeah, Yeah,
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: I'm I was impressed what they did last week. I mean,
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: I wonder with Miami if they have more threats than
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: the two and if there are teams that will get
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: a beat on Hill and Waddle and be able to
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: slow them down a little bit. Um. But right now,
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: it feels like the Patriots last year. I mean, they
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: were to the second place team in the AFC East,
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: but I put Miami a little bit ahead of them.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: I mean the Patriots have to have to have to improve.
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: I think to you know, really beat the second place.
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: I mean that showed me something. I mean maybe Baltimore's
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: defense just totally collapse in that fourth quarter, but you know,
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: to come back like that, Yeah, I agree, show me something.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: I agree breakdowns are no breakdowns. They still scored twenty
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: eight in the fourth. Yeah, but espposally with aout the
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: two like talk of two and like no, no one
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: would have thought too was capable of some of the
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: throws that he made, Like it wasn't just throwing bombs
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: to wide open guys. He made something like the game
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: winning touchdown. The waddle was not an easy throw um.
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: But there's there's other things too, Like I don't know
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: what's what's gonna happen with Miami. They've really gotten man
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: handled by Buffalo and now they play this week. And
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: I'm not saying they have to win the game to
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: show that they're they're any good. But you can't go
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: out and lose like forty eight to ten, like you
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: have been to Buffalo in the recent past. They have
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: to you know, they're at home, they should play it.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: They should play a good game, and they should score
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: some points they should. And that's what's interesting to me,
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: is you know how I mean at this point, you're
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: just looking at Buffalo. I feel like the rest of
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: the league was looking at the seven Patriots when they
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: were starting out of like who can find something? Who
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: can find something? Maybe maybe Hill and Waddle have you know,
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: speed that can kind of expose some of that Buffalo defense.
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: But it's it's hard to see them holding Josh Allen
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: under thirty five points, right like that Buffalo that that
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: Miami defense man. Yeah, let's get to the a stick
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: it up line eight five five John's and Ducksburry Hey John, Hey, gentlemen,
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: how are you? Joh I don't know how if Tomorrow
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: is still there? No, No, she was not. Her name
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: is Nia. Okay, that's Alex. I will tell her. Okay.
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: There's a couple of plates. I want to make number
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: one and this is basically for Mike into uh, Paul,
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: I even seen bled so enough Josh fled? So can
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: he play free safe? Orsy More in the box guy,
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: More in the box guy. I agree with Mike. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: they gotta find somebody from mccordy because I think mccordy
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: is all done. You didn't stick a fork in him? Yeah,
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: I think they're putting. They're putting, putting Phillips a little
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: bit more on the back end. I don't know what's
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: going to happen going forward with mccordy, but I certainly
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: think this is Devan's last year. But I mean, I
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: even't really noticed him. I haven't seen any any I mean,
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: teams haven't even taken any shots down the field, which
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: to be tells me that he's probably been where we're
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: supposed to be. Yeah, and here's another point I want
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: to make to you guys. If Bill is afraid to
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: elevate Cayley to a position of importance on the offense,
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: why did he prevent them from going to the raids?
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: A good question. I don't have the answer. It is
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: a good question. Yeah, you know, I mean this said,
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: well he you know what I heard was he said
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: he's afraid of elevating him because he thought he might
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: lose him. Well, doesn't that tell you that two guys
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: he hired, that that nobody wants those two guys. Yeah,
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: I think it's a fair question. I just don't I
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: don't have the answer. I don't know why loves him
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: with one other thing before I go, I was encouraged
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: by cher Bill preth is it. Those Those are two
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: plays he made. I believe it was a third quarter
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: and second and third down where he's stone both those
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: guys nice looking tackles. Yeah, yeah, good place. Yeah thanks
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: John John. Yeah, Deuce's big, big Jabrill Pepper's fam Yeah
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: I am. I mean again, I liked what Bill said
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: about him yesterday, and that was my take was that
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: they're still getting a feel for him. He's still getting
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: a field for the defense. They don't know exactly what
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: he can do, but I think this dugger injury might
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: be the kind of thing that could really you open
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: the door for him to, you know, play more significant
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: studs probably next to Mac Wilson in some of their
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: base packages still in Seattle. Writes in Carler mentioned why
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: people are jumping all over mac Jones, and I feel
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: that mac Jones doesn't get enough credit for his part
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: in the struggles of the offense nationally. The narrative is
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: that he's a victim of the offensive coaching. I don't
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: see it that way. I wasn't one of the people
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: that were crowning Mac last year. I thought he was
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: mediocre h then as much as I do now. Even
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: during the week of this draft, I wrote in saying
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: that drafting him would be the wrong thing to do.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: Mac is an NFL backup at best, and we will
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: probably be stuck with him for the five years stretch
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: because of him being a first rounder. This guy will
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: only work on a team that will put top end
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: talent around him across the board, and Bill generally doesn't
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: go for top end talent and free agency or the draft.
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: But even then, Mac is so limited we could put
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: an All Madden team around him and he wouldn't be
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: able to throw the ball in Buffalo after October. Wow,
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: still is really down on him. Yeah, the last part
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: might not be wrong, But I mean, if you feel
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: that bad, you really think he's getting a five years
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: like he's getting four. I think he'll get four and
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: I think we'll get four for different reasons. But yeah,
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: I mean, I suppose it depends on how you look
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: at it. Some people that are on that side feel
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: like he's been given a pass, and the people that
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: are defensive of Mac feel like there's been too much
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: of that that you know, criticism of Mac. Both are
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: true and both are probably true. Yeah, there's probably been
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: a little too much. I'm with Fred what you said
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: Earl in the show about the sample size. I'm not
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: ready to make these blanket assessments based on two games.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: I don't think he's been great, but that doesn't mean
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: I don't think he can be better going forward. Craigs
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: and Charlotte. With the run, heavy offense the Ravens have
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: traditionally brought and the threat Mark Andrews presents, what kind
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: of personnel do you see the Patriots using. Do you
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: expect heavier linebackers to stop the run or lighter linebackers
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: to contain Lamar? Is this a big game for our safeties?
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: And how big of a deal is it if Dugger
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: can't go? Yeah, I think it's a big deal. I
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: think it's a big deal. I think Dugger's a concerned
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: He's one of the better tacklers back there. If they
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: if you had to choose between heavier or lighter, what
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: would you choose? Lighter? Lighter? I mean, I think, like
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: I just said, I think Kyle Dugger and Peppers as
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: you're kind of like inside linebackers and you can use
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: you know, they've been putting Bentley on the edge, So
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: you know, maybe you put Bentley on the edge a
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: little bit obviously, like Paul said, you got chewed on.
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: Dietrich wise is a little bit more of a hand
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: down defensive end. He can play the other side, But
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: I just think it's about that second level. If you
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: can get those you know, those kind of dugger mac
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: Wilson got some speed on the second level to you know,
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: Chase Lamar around that that's probably probably the best. But
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: I don't know how fast Peppers is, Like, I mean,
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: he's always been kind of a linebacker type safety, So
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: you know, where does his speed rank. I'm not sure.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: I put it up there with with with what Dugger
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: can do and the experienced Duggers had. So it does
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: feel like this is a this is a bummer that
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: Dugger can't go, Like as Evan was saying, that he's
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: he's really ideally suited for this kind of game they'll play. Um,
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: I think that the only team that I can even
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: think of that I would opt for the heavier defensive
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: personnel is Tennessee. Yeah, like if you're gonna and Bentley, yeah,
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: I mean, if if you're gonna see twenty five or
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: thirty carriers with Derek Henry. You better have some some
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: big boys out there to combat that. Even maybe more
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: Carl Davis in a game like that too. But you know,
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: Buffalo is really good. Um, but I get you know
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: the way they went after uh Henry, you know, shooting
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: for his legs. Yes, and not all big guys, small
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: guys just shooting for you know, good observation got it
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: to you gave me a complimentary. I'm going to return
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: the favorite. I mean, they were really effectively low tackle.
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: I mean, I I'm plann't believe it took people this
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: long to realize you can't tackle that guy up around
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: his shoulders, right. Um, yeah, Buffalo, Uh, they're tough. Tough.
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: Travis is in Watertown, Connecticut. Listening to this week's shows.
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: There's a lot of love for Jacobey Myers, and I
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: feel like rightfully so. I can still picture one of
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: his first catches as a rookie. Went up for a
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: ball and as soon as he caught it, raised his
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: hands up higher so the defender couldn't knock it out.
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: I just thought it was a very smart play for
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: someone who was still learning the position relative to other
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: pros in the league. I'm hoping he could be retained
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: moving forward, because he's exactly the type of guy the
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: Patriots reward, someone who earned his spot through hard work
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: and following the program. Yeah, he's a guy that it
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: wouldn't stun me if you heard that they extended him
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: during the season. Yep, totally, you know, because I don't
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: think he's going to break the bank. No, Um, he's
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: a guy that they should be able to retain if
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: they want to retain him. Yeah, and I wouldn't be surprised. Now.
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: The other part of that is like the whole Garadi
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: thing like that. Maybe they don't like that, Maybe he
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: doesn't like the fact that he feels that way. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: I think this is a good question too. Do you
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: think there's any chance they make an effort to retain Nelson?
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: I would doubt it. I would doubt it because I mean,
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: he played pretty good Buzz week. He did, but that's
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: just one week. Yeah. And I also think he's a
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: little older. Yeah, I mean he's not quite like a
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: one for one with Thornton, but his cap his cap
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: hit right now is like fourteen point eight million something like. Yeah,
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: and he's out. You think it's going down. Well, I
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: mean this is but I mean, like, if you want
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: to retain him, do you think he's going to take
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: less to stay like you might take less if you're
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: on the open market, you don't have any options. Yeah,
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: I just my my concern is, how do you how
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: do you upgrade on him? You know, like how how
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: does that happen? I mean it's tough to go in
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: with Scut Parker and and Myers. I wouldn't be surprised
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: if Parker's not back either, But Taekwon Thornton has got
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: to be a big part of what you're going to
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: do next year. I can't imagine the scenario that they
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: don't think of that. That him. He's got to be
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: a big part. Jack and and Abba says that Jabrill
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: Peppers ran a four four six at combo. All right,
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: that's pretty good. Thank you for sharing that with me
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: eight years or so. Of course, Lamar Jackson runs like
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: a four one or something crazy like that. But no,
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: but that's something that was also how many years ago
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: he says he was safe twenty seventeen. JA Peppers safety. Yeah,
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: what I say, linebackers difference. But he's a first round pick.
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: I mean it was the first round safety. And I
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: don't I don't doubt that he ran well as a
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: first round safety. But that's a long time ago and
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: more acls ago, and like back when he had this
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: original as no, well you know what I'm saying. I know,
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: I think he's a good athlete. I'm not suggested that
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: he can't run. But I used to care what I
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: don't really care what you ran. It was a ten,
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: not a forty. But you know, but that's pretty good
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: for a ten. Yeah, you know it doesn't take the stairs?
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: Lease and Malvern? Who who doesn't take the stairs? When
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: you were got off at one floor? Well for that thing,
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: well that was that's a hotel. But when I come
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: to work, I take up to three. I used to
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: tell you banished me to division. You don't don't just
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: walk up. How do you like your new digs? It's fine.
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: It's really cold down there, can I tell you? And
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: I'm never cold? Is that right? It's very cold? Well
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: the equipment do you think that's why they keep it cold?
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: Is that why Matt it is? Yeah? Ump the ac
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: in there. I went down and visited Paul today, had
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: some had some had some things to share with them.
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: That's excited. Yeah, Mike, after ignoring me for the better
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: part of two weeks, I gotta get I have to
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: be down a couple of times. You got to get
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: it into you. It used to be so easy. I
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: get it in for a little bit. I get my things.
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: You always and you always sad. And I came to
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: you know, established, I got to re establish change it up.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: You know. I saw something about Kendrick Bourne's explosiveness and
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: I was like, Mike was triggered a right, Mike, he
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: actually ran a four three two at the combine. Uh
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: Leason malvern Uk. I love your show insight into the
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: Patriots team. I think, like yourselves, I'm concerned that this
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: year is going to be difficult if Mac isn't able
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: to make the year two progression. I have two questions.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: If Mack has shown the same form as he did
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: in this preseason in his rookie year preseason, would you
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: have started him over Cam or any of the other quarterbacks.
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: If you're asking me, the answer is yes, But the
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: better question would be would Bill. Would that have been
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: enough for Bill? Yeah? Yeah, I mean I don't think
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: Bill is just worried about preseason performances. Yeah, fans are.
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: That's what I also think, Like to the point of
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: the email, like I'm really coming around on nine wins,
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: like I just I know they haven't looked great. I
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: know they don't have any explosiveness, but it just feels
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: like it's gonna be just like last season, where they're
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: gonna they're gonna get, you know, a nice little run
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: of day. Even if they dropped this one and dropped
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: next week. I think, well, they're you know, it's they're
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: gonna be. They're gonna they're gonna get those few games
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: they need. I don't know thet's take the playoffs, but
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: so far there on, you know, like when you have
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: a mental picture of the schedule, so far one and
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: one is where I had it. So see U on
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: the NFL show over here, he listed what he thought
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: were the worst three teams in the NFL this year.
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: It was the Jets, Cowboys, and Patriots. I can't believe this.
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: Do you have an opinion? I don't think they're one
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: of the worst three teams. Oman is a giant, right,
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: so he hates the Cowboys, right, so, and I could
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: see him plus with dak Out. Yeah, he's talking about
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: with dak Out, and he's obviously talking about the Patriots
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: offense the first two weeks. I don't think the Patriots
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: are one of the worst three teams. I don't either know,
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: having missed two dynasties due to chasing girls beer and
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: not being married with kids. I feel like we are
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: back where I started when I began my love for
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: the Patriots, and they were often the second best team. Well,
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: I hope I wish we were just the second best
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: team now. I think he means when he was watching
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: the game. All right, Oh, I don't know exactly what
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: he means, don't I don't. Yeah, I mean full disclosure.
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: I'm speculating. It's like Jaws, you kind of have to
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: take put your own thing into it. It's it's a
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: little bit nebulous, like to this piano wire should go
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: tell me, but business again, this was no boat accident.
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: Anything that drives me to read it, Ryan Saint Louis.
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: I know there's been a lot of Mac Jones talk um.
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: He calls a max about how how his uh the
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: talks about how his reeds are a little off, and
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: how he looks a little more confused compared to last year.
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: Do you think this is because he was on a
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: leash last year and was being told exactly what to do,
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: but this year he has more freedom to make decisions.
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: But he's just not seeing things could be right. And
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: that's another reason why I'm not willing to say everything
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: has been great with the coaches, because these all these
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: are all things that you and I cannot possibly know. Well.
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: The only thing I know is that there was going
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: to be a drop off post Josh McDaniels. That's the
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: only thing I know for sure is that without that
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: guy who you know, I don't want to say holding
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: his hand because that you know, sounds worse than it,
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: But it really could have been everything. And he could
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: have been far more instrumental in Max's performance last year
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: than we'll ever know, and right now, if he's not
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: getting the same kind of attention, that could have a
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: far bigger impact on his performance than we'll ever know.
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: Right Let's see Trent from Sylvan Rights in in my
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: humble opinion, the play calling doesn't seem a lot different
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: than last year's play calling, and it definitely isn't holding
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: me offense back. Not that I'm wishing failure on him
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: or hoping for his return. But if the over under
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: his thirty five regular season games under McDaniels is back
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: coaching the Patriots, would you take the over or under?
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: Or do you think he will ever come back? I
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: don't think I think it's and I don't think he's
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: going to be a short term guy in the Las
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: Vegas either. Yeah, a week two, shine is off McDaniels.
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: They lost two games, so now he's I mean the
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: same thing. There was some funny, there was some funny tweets.
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: I'm not picking on the like that was the actual
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: huge I mean, I get it, you know, like, you know,
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: so we have him back by week seven, that's like,
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: I get it. That's funny. But like if you legitimately
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: think he's gonna be gone in you know, a season,
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: in two seasons, yeah, I mean I think you'd have
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: to do something like, yeah, he made a dooka something.
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: I was just gonna say, to be out of a
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: job in two years or to be honest, his family
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: is just like we ain't liveing in Vegas. Oh okay,
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: that's that's a different that's a difference. That was a
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: conversation I had constantly, like walking through Vegas with various
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: people like could you ever live here with your family?
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: But that's another thing though, Like if it's that reason
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: and he resigns, then he can't go to the Patriots now.
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: And I hate the other contract. You have to work
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: out some kind of arrangement, I think, and I should
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: come here as an offensive advisor. I would go somewhere else,
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: like if I was him, Like I just I feel
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: like you. I don't think you could do that. Coven
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: gonna go back to the well a third time. I
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: have a hard time seeing it. Yeah, I mean you
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: could make a trade, but I think the Raiders would
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: still have him under contract. As my point, could he
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: come with Davante Adams? We probably not. DA would Bill
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: want Davante Adams is too good? Too good? Brandon writes
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: in do you think when Thornton gets back that we'll
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: have a poor man's Hill and Wattle due with Aghalore
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: and Thornton. I like our wide receiver room with them
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: and Myers and Bourne. What are your thoughts on that
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: it can't hurt? I don't. I don't know how exactly
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: they're going to put together, but I think he's an
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: intriguing player with the exact stuff that they need in
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: terms of speed and even some size. I just want
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: to see him back, Yeah, I see. I would love
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: to see him back and not see them sending him
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: into the center of the line to like be the
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: lee block. And that's the like, I know, what's easy
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: to say after the guy gets hurt, but like you
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: look at Tyreek Hill, when you look at that guy
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: and you think that's the same thing, Like he might
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: be every bit as fast as Tyreek Hill, but he's
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: like half the size. Yeah, and I'm not talking height. Yeah,
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: it's it's it's the it's the quickness. I mean, it's
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: like a fire hydrant against that. I don't want to
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: say the foul thing, but the thickness, like Tyreek Hill
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: is stacked. Yeah, Like he can go over the middle.
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: And I mean he's been hurt a lot too, but
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: he can withstand some punishment over the middle. Tak, that's
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: not an accident that he got hurt. He is little. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: well he's the I mean, I I think, I mean,
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: everyone's gonna jump down my throat about this, but like
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: he's the non he's a non freak. Randy Moss. That's
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: like the style of him. He's long speed, He's got
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: a little bit of you know, shimmy, but he's long
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: and fast and tall. Um, you know he's not that
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: he's not Randy Moss, but you know that's kind of
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: a little bit shorter and not as fast. But that's
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: the style I think of what he could kind of
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: bring to the offense. I want to get him back
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: and see if we can figure out how he can
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: be implemented. As like Evan said, if at first he's
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: just running windsprints, yeah, fine, just give him something to
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: think about. Give the defense is something to think about,
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: you know. Um, was there a question yesterday from practice
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: who was wearing number seventeen? Yes, there was Triskan viz
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: kayaneos Okay is the kicker, right, So the question that
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: Wan has is Nick Folk on the hot seat? I
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: don't think so. But maybe he's dealing with something physically
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: that we don't know about. Yeah, they I mean they
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: had Viskyanyol around all offseason and you know, so I
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: don't know. I always think it's good insurance to have
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: another kicker around or somebody in the in the wings.
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: So but we'll see, we'll see. I mean, obviously Nick
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: folks with sixteen guys in the practice squad, why not?
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: You don't need sixteen you know, potential backups, So yeah,
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: put one over there. I don't think it. Matt, like,
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: do you manage a kicker like his legs as wraps
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: his number of kicks he does? Like? That could be
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: too Maybe you just want to get your kicking in
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: and practice so you want someone else doing it. That
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: could be too Jus machines. No, but I mean if
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: you want to have live field goal at the end
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: of practice or something like that and you want someone
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: actually kicking him, yeah, could be um who knows, who knows?
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: Let's see Dave and Bethlehem writes in has the injury
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: this is off topic? Has the injury to Trey Lance
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: lowered the contract value of mobile quarterbacks? No? No, no,
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: it's I mean. I mean, I think anytime you hear
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: anybody talk about Josh Allen right now, it's like, oh
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: my god, he's amazing, but he's gonna get hurt sometimes.
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: But let me just let me just say unequivocally, if
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: Trey Lance had played for two years and been really good,
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: do you think he'd be worth less? He's never played.
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: That's why his value is down. Yeah, because he's never played.
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson just signed after missing a whole year for
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: extraordinarily controversial reasons, two hundred and thirty three million guaranteed.
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: How did his value get impacted by mobile quarterbacks? Yeah?
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: All right, are you ready? I was kind of seeing
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: how long you were gonna go for We got stop?
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: Oh for good, we gotta stop. It's time. It's that
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: time a week. I know there's only three of us here,
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: but we gotta hurry. We gotta We've really gotta hurry.
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: Three of us. Was gonna say, we really don't have
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: to hunt, we have to hurt, we don't have to
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: what happened last week? Last week, Fred Kersh did a
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: nice job of bouncing back after the most pathetic performance
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: history of the of the contest. Fred went eleven and
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: five to win the week, followed by Alex at ten
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: and six, Mike at nine and seven, and Paul eight
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: and eight. All right with the spread Mike nine and
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: seven thoughts, Alex eight and eight, Paul and Fred seven
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: and nine. So season standings are as follows. There's only
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: three of us that have done both weeks. Uh so
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: it's Paul eighteen, thirteen and one, Mike fifteen, sixteen and one,
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: Fred thirteen, eighteen and one, with the spread, Paul seventeen
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: and fifteen, Mike sixteen and sixteen, Fred eleven and twenty one.
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: I got the making up. I got the making up.
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: It's a process, you know. Yeah. All right, So I
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: noticed in the Globe today. I always like to see
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: how the experts, the true experts, the ones that write
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: for the Globe, how they're doing with the spread as
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: compared to us. And they only have them listed as
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: having thirty one games. Attention to detail, no attention to
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: detail there, they only had thirty one games. They don't
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: and only Ben Voland is over five hundred. He's like me,
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: He's like, I think he was seventeen seventeen, fourteen and
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: one something like that, yeah, or sixteen fourteen and one. Yeah,
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: he was a game better than me. But they have
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: a tie, which we didn't have any ties, and they're
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: missing a game, so I don't know exactly that, but
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: he's the only one over five hundred that won't that
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: won't last. All right. We'll start tonight eight fifteen on
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: Prime Video. The one and one Steelers are at the
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: one and one Browns in Cleveland, Cleveland by four and
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: a half, four and a half. This is this is
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: a tough one. I just don't know which team I
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: like less. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go with Cleveland
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: to win at home, and I'm gonna take the points
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: for Pittsburgh and assume it's a close, low scoring struggle.
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Cleveland both ways. I think they bounced
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: back from that debacle. I still think Nick Jubb is
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: taking far too much heat for scoring a touchdown to
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: give him a two school a lead in the last
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: two minutes of the game. But I'm gonna go with
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: the Browns, but not to cover. On the other hand,
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: I'm I'm I got a feeling in Pittsburgh they're not
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: gonna be too worried if they don't win a lot
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: of games this year. I'm not saying they're tanking. No,
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: they gotta get Kenny Pickett in them if they're gonna
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: do that. This is like the prolog this season is
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: going to be like, oh, Kenny Pickett came in and
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: like we're just under I understand wheels right now. I
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: understand sticking with Rubisky because you think that he gives
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: you a better chance to win games. Now, I think
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: he probably does. But if you think like Fred's talking,
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: you gotta change. You gotta get him some some experience
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: and not worried about the results. I think the end
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: of the season will be exciting for them. They'll feel
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: like they found something with Pickett. He'll play, okay, okay, yeah,
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: all right. Um So I'm gonna take Browns to win
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: and not cover, and I will try to get Alex's
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: picks off air. Uh. Sunday at one, the one and
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: one Saints are at the oh and two Panthers, New
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: Orleans by three. Just to let you guys know, a
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: lot of home dogs this week, Home dogs by three.
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: Jamis Winston, Carolina. I'm gonna take New Orleans on the road,
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: and I will I will lay the points to against Carolina. Yeah,
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: I'm gonna do that too. Um. I don't know. I
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: think New Orleans is in trouble with the quarterback situation.
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: He's banged up bad, four broken bones in his back.
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: Can't do any more damage though, so so says the
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: medical get more broken. I'll take New Orleans, but I
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: don't feel great about it. I'm gonna go with the
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: Panthers from the upset to win this game. Sunday at one,
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: the O one and one Texans are at the one
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: and one Bears Chicago by two and a half. Alright,
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: so where do we got Davis Mills, two rookie quarters,
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: two second second year guys, Buddy Rex burkehead back in
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: the picture there with Houston. Good for him. Ah did
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: you man? This is a tough one again, but I'm
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: gonna go. I'm gonna go with the Texans. Sorry, yeah, sorry,
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: put me down for the Texans. I'm gonna take the
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: Texans to Chicago. They're so afraid of their offensive line
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: they won't even to let Justin Fields throw the ball. Yeah. Boy,
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: you know you talk about people being down on Mac Jones.
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: People are down on Justin Fields. Oh I haven't seen
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: that at all. Oh no, no, he doesn't throw. He's
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: attempted like twenty passes. Yeah, and people are saying he stinks. No,
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: it's because of the offensive line they were afraid. I'm
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: just saying what I heard. I'm just I'm just telling
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: you what I've telling you what I heard. I haven't
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: watched a game, so I don't even have an opinion.
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: Hearsay argument. I mean, I think last week he was
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: like seven for eight in the fourth quarter, like it
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: was ridiculous with that offensive line. But I'm gonna take
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: out he's gonna get killed. Yeah, I'm gonna. I'm gonna
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: take the Texans as well. Sunday at one, the two
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: and O Chiefs are at the oh one and one
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: Colts Kansas City by six and a half Indianapolis. I
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: kind of I don't want to say I had high
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: hopes for them, but I thought it would be better
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: than its Look, I did too. Rising I'm back on
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: my train of just picking Kansas City, and I'm gonna
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: pick him again and lay the points. I guess what
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: a team like Atlanta is willing to give up their quarterback?
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: You should think, why are they willing to give them up? Yeah?
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: Because they need a new quarterback, I know, but they
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: have to. They're in total rebuilding to the studs. I'll
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: take Kansas City, but I will take the points at home.
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: I'll take six and a half at home. I will
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: go KC both ways. Sunday at one, the two and
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: old Bills are at the two and Old Dolphins were
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: a big AFC's Division matchup, Bills by six and a half. Wow.
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: Uh yeah, I'm going with Buffalo. I can't. I can't
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: pick against those guys the way they're playing right now.
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: I just would love to see if a team's able
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: to find something that they can get on them on
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: either side of the ball, just you know, some kind
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: of success push scorn points consistently moving the ball or
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: maybe forcing a punt. You know that's it continues to
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: be a punted plenty of times. The other night, I
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: will take Buffalo. But again I'll take six and a
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: half at home. Yeah, until further notice, I gotta go
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: with the Bills both ways. I mean, I think red
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: Ass McDermott has an advantage over the red Ass still
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: a definitely. He just read all over, so you just
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: assume as Ass is red pumpa smurf no Um. Sunday
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: at one the one and one Lions are at the
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: one and one. Vikings Vikings by five and a half. God.
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: I hate the Vikings. I hate picking them. I hate
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: thinking about it. Told you last week I went an
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: abusive relationship with the king and they did it. They
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: did it to me again. They screw you. Everyone always
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: do it. I'm gonna take Minnesota to win, but I'm
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: gonna take the points for Detroit. IM and Ross Saint
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: Brown just is putting on a clinic here over the
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: last whatever, however many games crazy. They gets eight games
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: with eight or more receptions, eighth straight. I'm gonna do
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: the same thing. I'll take Minnesota, but I will take
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: the points were Minnesota and the points, So I'm going
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: the same way. UH Sunday at one UH is the
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: O and two Bengals at the one and one Jets
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: Bengals by five and a half. Bengals have an at
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: home se Jets. Yep, that's what I mean. Yeah, I'm
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: gonna take I'm gonna take the man, but just to
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: put up some points with fat out. You know what,
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: I don't think it matters. I think Cincinnati gets on
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: track this week and I will lay the points. I
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: am going to do the same thing. I think um
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: take out the last two minutes of that meltdowning. You know,
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: it's pretty average offensively for the Jets. I'll take Cincinnati.
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: I will take Cinci, but I'll take those points. I'm
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: gonna take those points. I'm on New Jersey Sunday at
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: one oh and two Raiders at the Owen two Titans,
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: Raiders by one and a half. Raiders by one and
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: a half. Man, Tennessee couldn't really do anything. It feels
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: like they're trending downward. I think Josh gets the win.
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: I will take them and uh and lay them. Yeah,
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: I will take Vegas as well. I think they are
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: the better team. But yeah, either one of them has
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: been very impressive. Somebody has to get it off the
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: schneide that in this game, but that doesn't mean they
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: deserve to. I'm gonna go with the Raiders as well,
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: but it's this to me, this is a pick them basically.
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: What were the points? One and a half? Yeah? Uh.
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: Sunday at one two and o Eagles at the one
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: and one Commanders Philly by six and a half. Man,
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: I like, I'm picking a lot of road dogs today.
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: Favorites favorites. I'm sorry, thank you for correcting me on that,
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: um and I gotta do it again here. I'm gonna
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: take Philadelphia. I'll lay those points as well. Yes, I
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: will take Philadelphia, but I will take the points to
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: keep it close Philly coming off a Monday night game.
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: Never No, Paul is correct in his pick, and I
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: will pick the same way. Uh NFC East early early
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: division game, It'll be closer than you think. Um. Now
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: we're gonna skip over the Patriots at one o'clock and
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: we're gonna move to the later afternoon games. Four oh five,
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: one and one, Aguars at the one and one charges,
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: the Lack by seven, Lack by seven. Uh yeah, Jacksonville
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: is okay. Um, But I think I'm gonna take the
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: Chargers and I'm gonna I'm gonna lay the points. I
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: think they have a nice output. Yeah. I thought about
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: taking the points, but I'm not going to. I think
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: the Lack puts together, you know, ten days off, they
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: put together a good offensive performance. Yeah, I will kind
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: of gain they lost last year by the way. Yeah,
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: I will take the points because I think Trevor Lawrence
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: is going to show people that he was is a
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: good quarterback this. I think he's been okay. He wasn't
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: great in the opener, but he was really good in
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: the second game. Um, I think he's been all right.
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: I think he's gonna benefit from having an NFL coach.
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: I root for the guy, I really do. I mean,
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: I could care for anybody who gets so badly mismanaged
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: that he did last year. Feel for the kid, and
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: he hasn't complained. A guy who didn't even have enough
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: respect for the for the process to go home with
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: his team like that, to me was unbelievable. Um, so
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: I'll take those points. Uh. Four twenty five have the
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: one and one Rams at the Cardinals one and one,
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: the lar by three and a half, three and a hey,
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: oh man, I'm tempted again. You know what, I'm gonna
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: take the Rams. I'm gonna take the Rams, and I'm
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: gonna lay the points me too. I think the Rams
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: have really controlled this matchup in division under Kyler Murray. Yep,
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: we're all in lockstep there. Four twenty five, oh and
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: two Falcons at the one and one Seahawks. Seahawks by
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: one and a half. Poof another another gross one here.
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm gonna take Seattle. I'll lay the points. Yeah,
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Atlanta. I don't know why this is
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: a team that never finds a way to win, but
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: I just think Seattle stinks. Yeah, I know, but they
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: both do. I know, and bad team. You take the
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: home team. You're right, So you're absolutely right. I'm taking
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: I'm going by Paul's rule, I'm taking the seahawk. You
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: are right, that's probably why I'll lose that game. Four
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: twenty five one in one, Packers at the two and
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: oh Buccaneers of the week by weeks. Tom Brady was
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: at practice on Wednesday. He must really want it. So
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: despite report game, I think he doesn't want to lose
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: to Aaron Rodgers. I just think you want to go home. Well,
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: that could be, but I think I heard the report
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: that during that eleven day hiatus that he was in
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: New York with his the oldest son. There's that Jack
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: chat fifteenth birthday party with bridget No. Good for him, Yeah,
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: good for him. You know we talk about maybe, but
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: doesn't that make sense of something that could have been
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: arranged ahead of time? Like you know how they said
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: that was the big thing at the time. Is Tampa
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: knew about this right that he was going? Right? Fifteen
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: is a big birthday, Paul, Well, I'm just saying maybe
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: he just said I don't I want to be there
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: for his birthday. I'm gonna miss some time. Now, he
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: didn't miss eleven days because of that. No, but that
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: might have been one of the things Dad brings you.
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: Good for him, Good for Tom. He's Tom Brady can
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: do what the hell he wants. What's the line? Uh,
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: Tampa by one and a half, one and a half.
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: Uh Tom horrific. I'm gonna take Tampa Bay at home.
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: I will. I will lay that point and a half.
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: That's what I will be rooting for. But I'm gonna
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: take green Bay. Paul's instincts so the same as mine.
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: I'm going with green Bay this game. Also, then he
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: might have a letdown the next week. Um, perfect chess
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: and step ahead. So now we go to eight twenty
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: Sunday night. Um, the one and one forty nine Ers
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: are at the one and one Broncos San fran by
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: one and a half. It feels like a small line
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: to me. I mean, I know it's Denver. Yeah, that
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: never happens. Guy, Yeah, all right, I'm wrong, But I'm
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: gonna but Denver home. That always happens. Correct, I'm gonna
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: take I'm gonna take San Francisco. I will take Denver
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: to win the game. Out right. I'm gonna go with
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: the forty nine ers. The Jimmy train keeps on chugging. Yeah,
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: Moving over to Sunday eight fifty. Uh, the one and
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: one Cowboys are at the two and oh Giants. Giants
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: by one and a half. Wow, Giants by one and a
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: a half. The scheme will not scratch my itch on
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: Monday night. Uh, I don't know. I'm gonna take Dable
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: on the Giants. I guess I'm gonna lay that that
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: point and a half. I'm with Deuce. I think the
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: Giants um playing well, not great, but the schedule has
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: been favorable and they're taking advantage. I'll take the Giants. Yeah,
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: I'll go with the Giants as well. The Dable lad Giants.
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: Good for Brian Dable. Good for Brian Dable, one of
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: the real good guys. I like him all right. Now
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: we move back to Sunday at one right here at
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: the stadium, the one and one Ravens visit the one
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: and one Patriots one o'clock season O home opener for
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: the Patriots. Ravens, I'm sorry by two and a half,
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: two and alf, I'm gonna continue my trend. I'm feeling
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: some Patriots positivity. I didn't I picked against them this week.
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: I think the Ravens are better than they showed last week.
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: Their defense I'm not sure the Patriots can take advantage
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: of that secondary even if they were. But regardless, a
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: lot of respect for Lamar, but I think somehow the
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: Patriots are going to pull it out. I'm gonna take
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: the Pats twenty seven to twenty four. Yeah. I like
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: Baltimore in this game. I just think this is shaping
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: up as mid to high twenties and I'm not sure
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: the Patriots are ready to get there. And for that reason,
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Baltimore twenty seven sixteen. They clean up
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: the issues they had in the fourth quarter against Miami
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: in the secondary. They don't allow those chunk plays and
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: I think that's the difference. Yeah. Yeah, I'm gonna take
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: those points. But I'm taking the Ravens to win. Twenty
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: four twenty two. Yeah, I wish I could get three.
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: Can I get three? Poll? Good? Buy them online? Probably,
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: I'll give you three. No, twenty four twenty two is
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: my score. I'll let you buy the half a point.
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: How did they get to twenty two? Oh? It's crazy.
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: You know, crazy things happen, it's all they do. So yes, folks,
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: I did pick against the Patriots, but it's a close game.
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: I was Solarly. I'm not gonna lie. It was a
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: little taken up the process. Yes, it's a process, all right.
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: Stay tuned for the Playbook with John Rooks. And it
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: is Thursday, So the pregame show on Sunday ten five correct,
