- 0:27Speaker 1: released the schedule. One of the major contentions from a
- 0:32Speaker 1: Saints perspective is they can break their five year playoff
- 0:38Speaker 1: less drought this season because you got the second easiest
- 0:42Speaker 1: schedule in the NFL according to opponents win loss percent
- 0:46Speaker 1: from a year ago. And your division isn't very good,
- 0:49Speaker 1: so you may not be awesome, but you might be
- 0:52Speaker 1: good enough in a bad division against the manageable schedule.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Basically, you might be the tallest short kid.
- 0:59Speaker 1: With the full schedule release, odds makers have put out
- 1:04Speaker 1: the lines, the early lines for every NFL game, and
- 1:09Speaker 1: we have this up at Louisiana Sports Side, and that
- 1:11Speaker 1: by the way, if you want to see it's it's
- 1:13Speaker 1: by division. And it's you could look at the points
- 1:15Speaker 1: spread for every game in the NFL this year. A
- 1:19Speaker 1: few notes. I'm going to the Saints in a second.
- 1:21Speaker 1: A few notes from the NFC South. The odds makers
- 1:27Speaker 1: are not very keen on the Panthers. Panthers remember won
- 1:29Speaker 1: the division a year ago, but playing a first play
- 1:31Speaker 1: schedule should absolutely expose Carolina this year their favorite in
- 1:35Speaker 1: three games. Carolina, your defending division champ, is favored in
- 1:40Speaker 1: three of seventeen games. And this is by far the
- 1:46Speaker 1: worst division in the NFL as far as how they
- 1:49Speaker 1: project against in non division games, the entire NFC South
- 1:56Speaker 1: are underdogs in thirty seven of the forty four non
- 1:59Speaker 1: divisional games. That's eighty four point one percent. The entire division. Bucks, Falcons, Panther,
- 2:09Speaker 1: Saints collectively are underdogs in eighty four percent of the
- 2:13Speaker 1: games against other divisions. The entire division are underdogs in
- 2:21Speaker 1: nineteen of twenty road games. By the way, the only
- 2:24Speaker 1: the only team favored in a non division road game
- 2:28Speaker 1: is Carolina is favored in Week three when they go
- 2:30Speaker 1: to Cleveland.
- 2:31Speaker 2: That's it.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Every other time an NFC soule team goes away from
- 2:35Speaker 1: home to play a non division game, they're an underdog,
- 2:37Speaker 1: which kind of leads you to where the Saints are.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I was a little surprised, candidly to see this because
- 2:46Speaker 1: the Saints win total. The projected over under is seven
- 2:50Speaker 1: and a half for New Orleans, and I kind of
- 2:54Speaker 1: like the over maybe famous last words, I get it.
- 2:59Speaker 1: And there's a lot of questions about the Saints. You
- 3:02Speaker 1: still have a young, inexperienced quarterback who's only started nine games.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Although they were good at the end of the year,
- 3:07Speaker 1: it was against lesser competition. You're replacing a lot of
- 3:10Speaker 1: veteran talent, certainly on the defensive side of the ball.
- 3:13Speaker 1: To Mario Davis out, you have questions. Are you settled
- 3:18Speaker 1: at corner? Can you be any better on the interior
- 3:20Speaker 1: your defensive line? Have you really fixed your offensive line?
- 3:22Speaker 1: What do you do at running back? You brought in
- 3:24Speaker 1: ech In, but is he gonna catch fire? I mean,
- 3:26Speaker 1: there's a lot of questions, a lot of hope, but
- 3:30Speaker 1: a lot of questions. So New Orleans is favored in
- 3:35Speaker 1: just five games, despite being they're over under seven and
- 3:40Speaker 1: a half.
- 3:40Speaker 2: They're favored just five times.
- 3:43Speaker 1: New Orleans is favored at home against the Raiders in
- 3:45Speaker 1: Week three at home against the Falcons in Week four,
- 3:50Speaker 1: their favorite at home against Cleveland in Week nine, a
- 3:55Speaker 1: week later at home against Carolina in Week ten, and
- 3:58Speaker 1: then they're favorite at home against Arizona in Week sixteen.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Every other game, New Orleans is an underdog. I candidly
- 4:15Speaker 1: the ones that surprise me the most. Weeks five and
- 4:21Speaker 1: six throw me off a little bit.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Here.
- 4:24Speaker 1: New Orleans is a home underdog against the Vikings. Now,
- 4:27Speaker 1: two years ago, the Vikings were awesome, and we know
- 4:29Speaker 1: what happened. Sam Darnold goes to Seattle, wins a Super Bowl.
- 4:33Speaker 1: JJ McCarthy steps in in year two, first year as
- 4:37Speaker 1: a starter, and the Vikings missed the playoffs. That game's
- 4:40Speaker 1: in New Orleans, and there are real questions about Minnesota
- 4:44Speaker 1: with JJ McCarthy. I like New Orleans at home now
- 4:48Speaker 1: just a point and a half, But if you get
- 4:51Speaker 1: three points or maybe in the NFL it's two for
- 4:53Speaker 1: home field advantage, that feels significant. That Minnesota is a
- 4:58Speaker 1: favorite in the Dome. And then a week later are
- 5:00Speaker 1: the Saints go to the Giants. Now I have a
- 5:03Speaker 1: ton of respect for John Harbaugh as a head coach.
- 5:07Speaker 1: The Saints beat Jackson Dart last year in the Supernome.
- 5:10Speaker 1: They'll go to New York in week six, and I'm
- 5:13Speaker 1: not so sure that the Giants are gonna be decidedly better.
- 5:17Speaker 1: But the Giants are a two and a half point
- 5:18Speaker 1: favorite over New Orleans in MetLife in week six. Those
- 5:23Speaker 1: two are the ones that really grabbed me, Like man,
- 5:25Speaker 1: I am surprised. Now there's something that's no surprise. The
- 5:28Speaker 1: Saints are a seven point dog in Week one at Detroit.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Uh.
- 5:33Speaker 1: The biggest number, The biggest UH the Saints are an
- 5:36Speaker 1: underdog is Week two at Baltimore, where it's seven and
- 5:39Speaker 1: a half. So there are seven point dog week one,
- 5:42Speaker 1: seven and a half week two. You know, you look
- 5:46Speaker 1: at some of the others. The stretch that's the toughest
- 5:50Speaker 1: is the one we've talked about. Six and a half
- 5:53Speaker 1: point dog week eleven at Chicago, six and a half
- 5:56Speaker 1: point dog Week twelve at Cincinnati, four and a half
- 5:59Speaker 1: point home dog against Green Bay in week thirteen, and
- 6:03Speaker 1: then they're two and a half point dog at Carolina,
- 6:06Speaker 1: then three and a half point dog at Tampa. That stretch,
- 6:10Speaker 1: that stretch Week eleven to fifteen is the toughest stretch
- 6:14Speaker 1: of this. You have a brutal start, right at Detroit
- 6:17Speaker 1: at Baltimore. But the toughest stretch of the year is
- 6:20Speaker 1: Week eleven to fifteen at Chicago, at Cincinnati, home against
- 6:23Speaker 1: the Packers, at Panthers at Bucks. That five game four
- 6:27Speaker 1: to five on the road, and you're an underdog in
- 6:29Speaker 1: all five. That is a That's the brutal stretch that
- 6:34Speaker 1: will sort of, I think make or break whatever New
- 6:37Speaker 1: Orleans is playing for over a manageable final three games
- 6:41Speaker 1: where you're home against the Cardinals, at the Falcons, home
- 6:44Speaker 1: against the Bucks. So you got to make Hay early.
- 6:47Speaker 1: You're gonna lose those first two very likely against Detroit
- 6:50Speaker 1: and Baltimore. But after that you have a manageable stretch Raiders, Falcons,
- 6:55Speaker 1: Vikings at Giants than Steelers in Paris. That's where you
- 6:59Speaker 1: have to make your on and then after your body
- 7:02Speaker 1: at Cleveland, Carolina. You gotta make your run in that
- 7:05Speaker 1: stretch because you know it's going to be brutal week
- 7:08Speaker 1: eleven to fifteen, and so it'll set up whatever you
- 7:12Speaker 1: might be playing for in those final three weeks. Saints
- 7:15Speaker 1: are favored five times. We mentioned they're an underdog every
- 7:18Speaker 1: week from eleven to fifteen. Biggest their favorite is the
- 7:21Speaker 1: five and a half points at home against the Cardinals
- 7:24Speaker 1: in Week sixteen, and the biggest there underdog, as we mentioned,
- 7:27Speaker 1: is Week two when they're seven and a half point
- 7:29Speaker 1: dog at Baltimore. Tyler Shuck, It's going to be a
- 7:33Speaker 1: massive year for Shuck, and whatever the Saints might achieve,
- 7:36Speaker 1: they'll do in large part based on whatever Tyler Shuck
- 7:38Speaker 1: might be able to progress year one to two. And
- 7:41Speaker 1: when he met with reporters Monday at the Saints Hall
- 7:44Speaker 1: of Fame golf tournament, he talked about how different this
- 7:47Speaker 1: offseason is as the starter whereas last year is coming
- 7:50Speaker 1: in as a rookie.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's just so much more comfortability you're
- 7:54Speaker 3: going into the Tellan's offense here. Two for being able
- 7:57Speaker 3: to kind of really focus on what we want to
- 7:58Speaker 3: focus on the sense of ver see. I think it's
- 8:00Speaker 3: the biggest thing that I've been focusing on and for
- 8:03Speaker 3: the whole unit. And then also just I think everybody
- 8:06Speaker 3: is just we're having fun, We're having fun putting in
- 8:08Speaker 3: the work, and we're really close and I think that's
- 8:11Speaker 3: the best part about it.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Then the other thing is obviously him working this offseason
- 8:19Speaker 1: with Kellen Moore as the starter. So he was asked
- 8:22Speaker 1: about from February right season any shoot balls ends to
- 8:26Speaker 1: now working with Kellen Moore.
- 8:28Speaker 3: I think it's really sit down and kind of evaluate
- 8:31Speaker 3: the film from last year and kind of tweak what
- 8:33Speaker 3: we may call certain things and then also kind of
- 8:35Speaker 3: tailor it to you know, how we're trying to attack
- 8:37Speaker 3: defenses this year. And so I was, you know, that
- 8:41Speaker 3: was really cool to see throughout this install process and
- 8:44Speaker 3: OTAs in phase.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Two is is.
- 8:46Speaker 3: I think there was a self evaluation from you know,
- 8:48Speaker 3: my part and what I can work on footwork wise
- 8:51Speaker 3: and setting the pocket, and then also for offensively and
- 8:53Speaker 3: how we can kind of get better.
- 8:54Speaker 1: There a lot of optimism, a lot of optimism.
- 8:59Speaker 2: But still a lot to prove. Year two with Tyler
- 9:02Speaker 2: Shuck
