- 0:09Speaker 1: By his stripes. We are healed. We've all heard it.
- 0:13Speaker 1: It's quoted in churches, in hospitals, and in moments of crisis.
- 0:18Speaker 1: But what does Isaiah fifty three to five actually promise?
- 0:22Speaker 1: Is it truly talking about physical healing in every situation?
- 0:26Speaker 1: If so, why do some believers experience miraculous breakthroughs while
- 0:31Speaker 1: others continue to battle chronic illness? Are we misinterpreting the
- 0:35Speaker 1: text or misunderstanding how God heals? Today? On Life TV Now,
- 0:40Speaker 1: we're taking a biblical, practical, and honest look at healing
- 0:44Speaker 1: faith and the tension between expectation and experience. Hello everybody,
- 0:57Speaker 1: and welcome back to Life TV Now, where we unpack
- 0:59Speaker 1: all all matters of truth, faith and freedom. I'm Joe
- 1:02Speaker 1: artist Horn. Today we're going to be dealing with a
- 1:05Speaker 1: passage of scripture that we believe as a panel and
- 1:07Speaker 1: as a ministry often gets misinterpreted and applied in the
- 1:12Speaker 1: wrong ways, which can lead to a lot of question
- 1:15Speaker 1: marks about those that are battling during their healing journeys.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Joining me today, she's an integrative nutrition health coach with
- 1:23Speaker 1: a Master of Science and health Education. Please welcome my
- 1:26Speaker 1: co host Jamie Woodle and here to help us navigate
- 1:34Speaker 1: some of the difficult portions of scripture. She's a credentialed,
- 1:38Speaker 1: ordained reverend with a degree in Bible and theology, a
- 1:41Speaker 1: powerful voice in Christian television. Please welcome Donna. Howell, Thank you,
- 1:46Speaker 1: Thank you, Donna. When we read the New Testament, you know,
- 1:52Speaker 1: we see Jesus with the apostles, we see miracles. We
- 1:56Speaker 1: see all kinds of the laying on of hands and transformations,
- 2:01Speaker 1: the blind, able to see the lame, able to walk,
- 2:05Speaker 1: people with leprosy healed. We see all kinds of miracles.
- 2:09Speaker 1: You say. The purpose, though, of the miracles in Christ's
- 2:12Speaker 1: day is central to how we today understand the difference
- 2:16Speaker 1: between then and now. And I guess where I'd like
- 2:18Speaker 1: to start is you have these church services where you
- 2:21Speaker 1: hear pastors and people on staff saying the words over
- 2:24Speaker 1: and over and over again by His stripes, we are healed,
- 2:28Speaker 1: and often subsequent to those words, when we don't see
- 2:32Speaker 1: instantaneous physical, spiritual restoration, It's kind of like when you're
- 2:37Speaker 1: reading in Job. In my view, when you get to
- 2:40Speaker 1: the portion of Job that again a lot of people overlook,
- 2:43Speaker 1: but it leaps off the pages to me every time
- 2:46Speaker 1: I read it. When Job describes his empty comforters. You know,
- 2:50Speaker 1: he's out in the wilderness by camp fire light, and
- 2:53Speaker 1: his friends are basically you know, they're Q and A.
- 2:56Speaker 1: They're examining all portions of his life. Job doesn't understand
- 3:00Speaker 1: God is allowing him to walk through this. And the
- 3:02Speaker 1: portion of this scripture that people often focus on is
- 3:05Speaker 1: the fact that Job was obedient no matter what God
- 3:07Speaker 1: allowed him to walk through, and we celebrate that. But
- 3:10Speaker 1: the part that always leaps out to me in equal
- 3:12Speaker 1: proportion is the fact he's describing his empty comforters. They're
- 3:16Speaker 1: basically Job, you know, could it be this? I mean,
- 3:19Speaker 1: what have you done? I mean, do you have unprofessed sin?
- 3:22Speaker 1: I imagine this is how it went. Are you hiding
- 3:24Speaker 1: something from the law, like you know, he sees everything,
- 3:27Speaker 1: So what have you done? Where's your faith? Are you
- 3:30Speaker 1: limiting God's promise that you're healing?
- 3:34Speaker 2: Right?
- 3:34Speaker 1: And so we see that done in the church today.
- 3:37Speaker 1: And I'm telling you that people I've watched with tremendous faith, Yeah,
- 3:42Speaker 1: who love the Lord with all of their hearts, they
- 3:44Speaker 1: don't have closet sins. They're not secretly watching adult entertainment
- 3:48Speaker 1: on the internet. They're not opening portals, they're not doing drugs,
- 3:51Speaker 1: they're not infidels. They literally are marching out to the
- 3:54Speaker 1: best of their ability. God's calling on their life, and
- 3:57Speaker 1: yet they're afflicted with something they have asked God. I
- 4:01Speaker 1: did this for twenty five years as a self professed
- 4:05Speaker 1: Christian and still struggled with my own health anomalies that
- 4:09Speaker 1: I still to this day have to manage with a
- 4:11Speaker 1: lot of focus and prayer, otherwise I'd be dead. Why
- 4:16Speaker 1: is that when we're told in church by His stripes
- 4:19Speaker 1: we are healed, you're to claim it. You're to stand
- 4:23Speaker 1: on that promise. Father, you promised us in your word
- 4:27Speaker 1: that we would be healed in Jesus' name. And yet,
- 4:31Speaker 1: oh so let's take a look. What have you got
- 4:33Speaker 1: in your closet? What are you doing at home? Are
- 4:36Speaker 1: you being the right parent, are you being the right employee?
- 4:39Speaker 2: Or worse, God, God has less affection for you because yeah, no,
- 4:43Speaker 2: I've heard all of the mind games.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Yeah, miracles in the New Testament, often we're not seeing
- 4:50Speaker 1: those manifest today. There's a difference between the miracles that
- 4:54Speaker 1: Jesus demonstrated then versus what we're living out today. Help
- 4:58Speaker 1: us understand this missing interpretation of scripture that I think
- 5:01Speaker 1: has has jeopardized a lot of people's understanding of faith.
- 5:05Speaker 2: He yeah, so I hope we have enough time to
- 5:08Speaker 2: come back around to how healing, and I mean miraculous
- 5:12Speaker 2: healing is absolutely being seen all around the globe today,
- 5:17Speaker 2: and I do want to put that out the very
- 5:19Speaker 2: very beginning. I want to open up the program saying,
- 5:21Speaker 2: none of us on this panel, and certainly not myself,
- 5:25Speaker 2: have any less than the ultimate complete faith in supernatural healing.
- 5:29Speaker 2: We do well, however I get seen it the supernatural,
- 5:33Speaker 2: the supernatural worldview is one hundred percent legitimate. But we're
- 5:36Speaker 2: going to come back to that first. I want to
- 5:38Speaker 2: scale back and show a few different ways that we're
- 5:40Speaker 2: getting it wrong. First of all, it does say in
- 5:43Speaker 2: the Word of God, by his stripes we are healed.
- 5:45Speaker 2: It absolutely is referring to a type of healing unfortunately
- 5:49Speaker 2: that is not physical. We see this in Isaiah fifty
- 5:53Speaker 2: three five through six. This is describing Jesus as physical
- 5:57Speaker 2: wounds right as bringing about a spiritual healing for transgressions
- 6:02Speaker 2: and for iniquities. This is actually, this is where we
- 6:07Speaker 2: get this verse, by his stripes we are healed. It's
- 6:10Speaker 2: quoting from Isaiah. So now if we look at the
- 6:13Speaker 2: New Testament, just as you asked, if we look at
- 6:15Speaker 2: the New Testament, understand the word for miracles and wonders
- 6:19Speaker 2: and a lot of that stuff that we get in
- 6:20Speaker 2: the English often comes from the Greek sem ion that
- 6:24Speaker 2: means sign. So when you look at what's happening in
- 6:27Speaker 2: the New Testament, it's not just a miracle for the
- 6:30Speaker 2: person who is receiving the relief of those symptoms or
- 6:35Speaker 2: the relief of a condition. And ultimately, to seek relief
- 6:40Speaker 2: is human, but to seek only relief is missing the mark.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Because as semion in Greek a sign, it was a
- 6:50Speaker 2: sign in the New Testament times that Jesus was who
- 6:53Speaker 2: he said he was and is who he said he is.
- 6:57Speaker 2: So ultimately it wasn't just for the benefactor. And I
- 7:01Speaker 2: think we sometimes get that wrong because we think in
- 7:04Speaker 2: terms of well, you know, the closest we sometimes get
- 7:08Speaker 2: is if you don't feel well, you can't serve well.
- 7:10Speaker 2: So I want to serve the Lord with my life
- 7:13Speaker 2: and I want these symptoms to be alleviated. All of
- 7:15Speaker 2: that is human, none of that is wrong, and nobody
- 7:18Speaker 2: should ever tell you that that is wrong, if that
- 7:21Speaker 2: is why you are seeking healing. However, the ultimate purpose
- 7:25Speaker 2: of New Testament miracles was as a sign of Jesus's divinity.
- 7:30Speaker 2: So if we switch the script a little bit in
- 7:33Speaker 2: our hearts and in our minds when we ask for
- 7:35Speaker 2: a healing, sometimes the Lord will understand our difference of
- 7:42Speaker 2: the request. If we say, Lord, if you give me
- 7:46Speaker 2: the relief I am asking for, I will run. I
- 7:49Speaker 2: will never stop running. I will take it to the streets.
- 7:53Speaker 2: I will scream your name to the high heavens. From
- 7:56Speaker 2: now unto the day that my mouth stops talking, I
- 7:59Speaker 2: will ever stop preaching about the day that you brought
- 8:03Speaker 2: relief to my body. And not just the relief as
- 8:07Speaker 2: it is, and only as it is, but that it
- 8:09Speaker 2: was a sign that you are who you say you are.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Now that brings our request into alignment with New Testament theology.
- 8:17Speaker 3: That makes sense.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Sam i am the Greek word also was the sign
- 8:25Speaker 2: of the kiss that Judas placed on the side of
- 8:27Speaker 2: Jesus's cheek. It was a sign, Oh, that's him. And
- 8:30Speaker 2: so miracles are not ultimately for the benefit of the.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Asker, you know, Donna, an example that I think we
- 8:37Speaker 1: can look at in scripture is when Paul writes in
- 8:40Speaker 1: Second Corinthians twelve eight through nine, he says, for this thing,
- 8:45Speaker 1: I besought the Lord thrice that it might depart from me,
- 8:49Speaker 1: and he said, unto me, my grace is sufficient for thee,
- 8:53Speaker 1: for my strength is made perfect in weakness, most gladly. Therefore,
- 8:57Speaker 1: will I rather glory in my infirmation tease that the
- 9:01Speaker 1: power of Christ may rest upon me. And so what
- 9:06Speaker 1: you have here is an example of Paul asking. He's
- 9:09Speaker 1: petitioning the Lord. Obviously he would like relief from whatever
- 9:13Speaker 1: it was that he was struggling with. And God's response was,
- 9:17Speaker 1: my grace is sufficient. And so Paul continues to suffer.
- 9:21Speaker 1: There's a whole theology of suffering that at some point
- 9:24Speaker 1: we're probably going to have Rob Weddell on the program
- 9:26Speaker 1: to really unpack with us, because we don't have time
- 9:30Speaker 1: today to get into that specific area of this conversation.
- 9:34Speaker 1: But God's grace is sufficient. So I, for twenty five
- 9:38Speaker 1: years asked the Lord for healing. His answer to me
- 9:41Speaker 1: would come through a methodology I would never have signed
- 9:44Speaker 1: up for. And that was many, many years of having
- 9:48Speaker 1: to completely relearn everything I thought I knew about the
- 9:52Speaker 1: food pyramid and what is genetic versus actually dietary decision
- 9:56Speaker 1: making and learning how to be a responsible person and
- 10:00Speaker 1: fueling and nourishing my body, which is again a totally
- 10:03Speaker 1: other program. But I would not be the person that
- 10:06Speaker 1: I am today if God had given me what I
- 10:10Speaker 1: really wanted in a spontaneous being being being and you're
- 10:13Speaker 1: just completely restored. I had half of my colon cut
- 10:17Speaker 1: out about a decade ago, and when I woke up
- 10:19Speaker 1: from that surgery, because I was told I would be fixed,
- 10:22Speaker 1: my opening move was like drive through restaurants. My problem's
- 10:27Speaker 1: got much worse. Do you see what I'm saying? Same
- 10:29Speaker 1: guy looking for a surgery to make him better. Well,
- 10:32Speaker 1: and sure, and you're going back to the same well,
- 10:34Speaker 1: same persons, same methodologies, same poisoning of myself, same example
- 10:39Speaker 1: for my children, that this is what normal is. Do
- 10:41Speaker 1: you see what I'm saying? And not an evangelist at
- 10:44Speaker 1: all like I am today, for God's actual medicine and
- 10:47Speaker 1: God's actual healing.
- 10:49Speaker 2: So and what you're talking about, I'm so glad that
- 10:51Speaker 2: you used Paul as an example, and I'm so glad
- 10:53Speaker 2: you used your own testimony as an example, because there
- 10:56Speaker 2: are people that would hear my opening statement about the
- 10:59Speaker 2: Greek word and go. But I am willing to run
- 11:02Speaker 2: and tell I am willing to go out there and
- 11:05Speaker 2: say the name of the man who healed me. I
- 11:07Speaker 2: am willing. Why won't he reach me? Why won't he
- 11:10Speaker 2: touch me? Listen, there is this thing called the doctrine
- 11:13Speaker 2: of suffering. We used to teach it, We used to
- 11:16Speaker 2: understand this. The scholars of yesteryear, the historians, and the
- 11:20Speaker 2: church fathers made sure that every person coming into the
- 11:23Speaker 2: church understood the doctrine of suffering. And if we were
- 11:26Speaker 2: going to completely crush it down and simplify it, it
- 11:29Speaker 2: goes like this. God uses pain, our pain to shape
- 11:33Speaker 2: believers and to reveal Christ through that pain. Ministry requires relatability,
- 11:40Speaker 2: and unfortunately, folks, perfect doesn't relate. Pain relates. So it's
- 11:46Speaker 2: hard because we're sitting here going but Lord, I would
- 11:48Speaker 2: run and tell why won't the Lord touch me? Why
- 11:51Speaker 2: won't he heal me of my symptoms? I would use
- 11:54Speaker 2: that strength and I would hit the streets because maybe,
- 11:57Speaker 2: like you, Joe, or like Paul, you know, Paul, what
- 12:00Speaker 2: if he did? Maybe God has a calling on your
- 12:04Speaker 2: life that requires you to be relatable in the area
- 12:07Speaker 2: of your suffering.
- 12:08Speaker 1: That's a tough bit of theology for a lot of
- 12:10Speaker 1: people to say, Wow, what is it about the human
- 12:16Speaker 1: condition that almost needs someone else to have suffered to
- 12:20Speaker 1: make us feel less lonely? In those moments like seriously,
- 12:24Speaker 1: I just received this diagnosis, or I just received this
- 12:27Speaker 1: terrible update, or I'm going through this terrible thing without
- 12:32Speaker 1: a savior. Really diabolical options for people begin to surface.
- 12:38Speaker 1: We're talking about people that have no eternal faith begin
- 12:40Speaker 1: to check out of this place I'm talking about on
- 12:44Speaker 1: a living one's self because of the pressure of this place.
- 12:48Speaker 1: This place can be brutal from time to time. What
- 12:52Speaker 1: is it about knowing that someone else has suffered that
- 12:57Speaker 1: or is suffering that that makes us feel comfort thinking
- 13:00Speaker 1: in a perfect world, you would think, no, I don't
- 13:03Speaker 1: want for anyone else to know what I'm going through,
- 13:06Speaker 1: because that's selfish, that's to want for them to know
- 13:09Speaker 1: how I feel. But man, that's a that's like a
- 13:12Speaker 1: warm blanket on a rainy day to have somebody reach
- 13:15Speaker 1: out and say, you know what, man, I am walking
- 13:18Speaker 1: through the same thing. I'm just as lost as you are,
- 13:21Speaker 1: or I was once like you are. And now can
- 13:24Speaker 1: tell you what I did. Yes, you know. And I
- 13:27Speaker 1: am not sitting here saying, you know, Lord, we're all
- 13:30Speaker 1: begging for demonstrations and further humility. That is not what
- 13:35Speaker 1: I'm doing. I'm just simply acknowledging that I am not
- 13:39Speaker 1: the same human that I was back in the day,
- 13:42Speaker 1: and I would have taken the bing instant restoration to
- 13:47Speaker 1: all my digestion, my hormones, my metabolic health, my pineal gland,
- 13:51Speaker 1: all of the things. I am not now a board
- 13:53Speaker 1: certified holistic health practitioner as the old man. I don't
- 13:59Speaker 1: know that I'm a child advocate. I mean, there are
- 14:02Speaker 1: things that were going on in my life in terms
- 14:05Speaker 1: of decision making that God may have just said, man,
- 14:07Speaker 1: you are not going to be ready for these other tests.
- 14:11Speaker 1: I think about losing my father, and the guy that
- 14:13Speaker 1: was eating peanut butter and drinking beer and eating popular
- 14:17Speaker 1: you know, cereals pretending to have something to do with
- 14:19Speaker 1: the fruits of the forest would not have had the team,
- 14:24Speaker 1: would not have had it man to walk through what
- 14:28Speaker 1: has been the most difficult chapter. I think I would
- 14:31Speaker 1: have folded like a video game playing fifteen year old.
- 14:35Speaker 1: That's what I think if God had just bang, and
- 14:37Speaker 1: your body's better, and now I have all my frivolities
- 14:41Speaker 1: to indulge in, and I continued the lifestyle of eating
- 14:43Speaker 1: whatever I want. This is making sense saying, by the way,
- 14:47Speaker 1: I am now a starlet of all things perfection. That
- 14:50Speaker 1: is not what I'm getting at. I'm just saying life
- 14:52Speaker 1: can wall up the thunder out of you, and sometimes
- 14:56Speaker 1: it's for the benefit of someone else, and sometimes it's
- 15:01Speaker 1: because you're not going to be ready for the next
- 15:02Speaker 1: leg of this thing, right, some of the lessons you're
- 15:05Speaker 1: walking through.
- 15:06Speaker 2: I would add to that very quickly that the Bible
- 15:08Speaker 2: is clear that we are to serve the Lord with body, soul,
- 15:11Speaker 2: and mind, and we do tend to get the spiritual
- 15:14Speaker 2: part of that aspect soul, you know, oh well, obviously
- 15:18Speaker 2: following the Lord of the soul and the mind, we
- 15:19Speaker 2: need to keep our thoughts clean and pure. But when
- 15:22Speaker 2: we get to the body, everybody just wants to just
- 15:24Speaker 2: kind of live on whatever, like you say, straight to
- 15:27Speaker 2: the drive throughs. And so there is a little bit
- 15:30Speaker 2: of the buffeting of the body that needs to be
- 15:32Speaker 2: brought back, and not the buffeting of the body.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Donna, I want to concur what you've observed. We watch
- 15:45Speaker 1: in the ministry that our family has been We'll just
- 15:48Speaker 1: say that the ministry that our family has been involved
- 15:51Speaker 1: around and in for literally decades. You know, I grew
- 15:55Speaker 1: up a pastor's kid and really came very close to
- 15:58Speaker 1: living the life of a prodigal. But I had great
- 16:01Speaker 1: parents that warriored through. My mother, bless her heart, raised
- 16:06Speaker 1: what doctor James Dobson would have called the strong willed
- 16:09Speaker 1: child at me, for absolutely sure, without mercy. I mean,
- 16:15Speaker 1: in my teenures punked her like you can't believe, and
- 16:18Speaker 1: did it when my dad wasn't around, because he would
- 16:20Speaker 1: set boundaries and she was the one that would that
- 16:23Speaker 1: would just put up with it a lot of times.
- 16:25Speaker 1: But I watched the spiritual anointed that the people that
- 16:31Speaker 1: you know without a doubt are filled with Jesus Christ.
- 16:33Speaker 1: They love the Lord with all of their heart. And
- 16:35Speaker 1: I'm telling you there's an area of this. And I've
- 16:36Speaker 1: talked with my good friends who are now naturopaths and
- 16:39Speaker 1: and these naturopathic doctors and chiropractors and so forth who
- 16:43Speaker 1: deal more with the body from a natural healing perspective.
- 16:46Speaker 1: I have said, Man, I cannot square this. How can
- 16:49Speaker 1: you be so discerning of the spirit of God that
- 16:51Speaker 1: you're in tune with him politically, you're in tune with
- 16:54Speaker 1: him geopolitically. You're watching bitcoin and the rise of digital current,
- 17:00Speaker 1: You're watching war in the Middle East, and God is
- 17:03Speaker 1: literally you're writing books that talk about theology and the
- 17:07Speaker 1: end of times, and you are spelling out friends, this
- 17:09Speaker 1: is the final hour. Here's what's going on. You're so
- 17:12Speaker 1: in touch with the spirit of God. And we will
- 17:14Speaker 1: leave a television taping with the same person and it
- 17:17Speaker 1: is a I won't name names, but it is a
- 17:21Speaker 1: diet soda pop with an extra cream pie. And it's like,
- 17:24Speaker 1: as soon as we get into the natural healing aspect
- 17:27Speaker 1: of this, we only want to entertain the spontaneous that
- 17:30Speaker 1: God provides, or the opportunity to say to someone, well,
- 17:33Speaker 1: he's allowing you to walk through this. There's never any yeah,
- 17:36Speaker 1: But there's this other thing called natural healing. It's like
- 17:39Speaker 1: they're completely completely hoodwinked by the Babylonian system in this
- 17:44Speaker 1: one area where they still pursue pharmaceuticals. They just listen
- 17:48Speaker 1: to whatever their doctor tells them, They eat whatever is
- 17:51Speaker 1: set before them, because they've bought into the narrative that
- 17:53Speaker 1: this is totally genetic, so this is totally unstoppable, or
- 17:57Speaker 1: these diseases tend to progress like this. They go home,
- 18:00Speaker 1: they begin medications, they want, their life begins to deteriorate physically,
- 18:04Speaker 1: and yet they're still in communion with God. They're talking
- 18:09Speaker 1: to him, Oh Lord, show me, show me, show me.
- 18:12Speaker 1: As they guzzle a diet soda and I'm like, how
- 18:14Speaker 1: can this one area And I know that's not really
- 18:17Speaker 1: what today's discussion is about, but how can this one
- 18:20Speaker 1: area so continue to dominate even the anointed? And that,
- 18:25Speaker 1: by the way, is one of the reasons this show exists,
- 18:27Speaker 1: is because I'm trying to wake up not only the
- 18:31Speaker 1: secularized populace, but also the body of Christ that when
- 18:34Speaker 1: you talk about spiritual healing, you cannot divorce your temple
- 18:39Speaker 1: from what you consume. You can't just say, well, that
- 18:42Speaker 1: means not to be sexually promiscuous. That's what it means
- 18:45Speaker 1: when you talk about keeping your temple undefiled. No, no, no, man,
- 18:50Speaker 1: Everything you swallow to me is a spiritual decision to
- 18:54Speaker 1: honor the body that God gave you when he created you,
- 18:58Speaker 1: and to either nourish it or to kill it. Yeah,
- 19:02Speaker 1: I think you're ignorant. My brain goes, there's no obfuscation
- 19:06Speaker 1: of the law because of your ignorance. You will live
- 19:09Speaker 1: according to God's law or you will perish much faster.
- 19:13Speaker 1: That's the beginning and the end of it. He may
- 19:15Speaker 1: have mercy on you or grace on you and give
- 19:19Speaker 1: you the healing that I once asked for, because he's
- 19:22Speaker 1: benevolent and he's wonderful, and he often views us. I
- 19:25Speaker 1: think I'm not going to speak for what God thinks internally,
- 19:28Speaker 1: but I always imagine that God views us much like children.
- 19:34Speaker 1: And there are children that you understand could have made
- 19:37Speaker 1: better decisions, but you do something for them because you're
- 19:39Speaker 1: a good father and you love them. Sometimes you need
- 19:43Speaker 1: that child to kind of walk through the decision that
- 19:46Speaker 1: he made, because no amount of telling him don't do
- 19:49Speaker 1: this thing's going to be enough. He needs to kind
- 19:51Speaker 1: of trip and then realize that's why we don't walk
- 19:53Speaker 1: through you know, the workshop, or that's why we don't.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Does this make sense of it making any sense?
- 20:00Speaker 2: And it's God honoring human agency?
- 20:05Speaker 3: Well, Donna, what would you say to our viewers who
- 20:08Speaker 3: are really struggling what encouragement. What hope can you give
- 20:11Speaker 3: them about God's presence and healing.
- 20:13Speaker 2: I don't want to be cliche, but I think I
- 20:15Speaker 2: would give the same hope that is there in the
- 20:19Speaker 2: Holy Bible, in Isaiah and in Peter. We go back
- 20:24Speaker 2: to the original meaning. We are talking about an eternal Listen,
- 20:27Speaker 2: when you're a child and you hear the word eternity
- 20:30Speaker 2: for the first time, you kind of get this linear
- 20:32Speaker 2: progression sequence in your head, and you think, you know,
- 20:35Speaker 2: when I die and I go to the good place,
- 20:36Speaker 2: that's going to be day one of the first day
- 20:38Speaker 2: of eternity, and then the next day is going to
- 20:40Speaker 2: be day two of the rest of eternity. You still
- 20:44Speaker 2: think linear timeline. You still think of the day after
- 20:46Speaker 2: that and the day after that, forever and ever and ever,
- 20:50Speaker 2: and it's almost overwhelming. Heaven and the eternal state of
- 20:54Speaker 2: the earth is outside of time. It's literally longer than
- 20:59Speaker 2: your longer concept of eternity. When you're thinking in a
- 21:04Speaker 2: linear progression of time, we will experience all of time
- 21:08Speaker 2: and no time all at the same time. We're talking
- 21:11Speaker 2: about a perfection that you will never receive in this
- 21:17Speaker 2: sin stained, hurting, painful body again and it's the promise
- 21:22Speaker 2: that we find in Isaiah, and by his stripes we
- 21:26Speaker 2: are healed. So I don't want to be cliche and
- 21:28Speaker 2: take it back to that, but listen, that's a big
- 21:31Speaker 2: healing we're talking about. It's so much greater than whatever
- 21:36Speaker 2: your physical body is going through right now, when you're
- 21:39Speaker 2: sitting there and you're in those symptoms and you're in
- 21:42Speaker 2: that pain, and trust me, it's a different day. It's
- 21:45Speaker 2: a different day, it's a different show. I have known pain.
- 21:49Speaker 2: I have known pain. I've known childbirth pain year round. Okay,
- 21:53Speaker 2: like a childbirth that never ends. I'm not kidding. I
- 21:57Speaker 2: have known pain, and I've sat in that and I've
- 22:01Speaker 2: thought it's going to be so much better than this.
- 22:03Speaker 2: On the other side. That is the promisory note that
- 22:08Speaker 2: is in this scripture. I don't mean to be flippant,
- 22:11Speaker 2: and I never want to dismiss the person who's seeking
- 22:14Speaker 2: the alleviation of the physical illness that hurt, because that
- 22:19Speaker 2: is a very real need. But what this verse is
- 22:23Speaker 2: giving us is so much better. I also want to
- 22:25Speaker 2: point out something that the Greek word behind you were healed,
- 22:31Speaker 2: which is a yami. All right, watch this that is
- 22:34Speaker 2: in the common aorist tense of the word meaning it's
- 22:38Speaker 2: past tense. It's in the past. It's not by his
- 22:43Speaker 2: stripes we are healed. It's by his stripes. Ye were
- 22:47Speaker 2: already healed your spirit. Your soul was brought into convene
- 22:53Speaker 2: with the divine in a way that in one Corinthians fifteen, folks,
- 22:57Speaker 2: when we get our divine bodies, when we get our
- 22:59Speaker 2: per affected bodies in the eternal state, and we come
- 23:03Speaker 2: to the new Earth, there will be new plants. You
- 23:06Speaker 2: know that some scholars have gone back and looked at
- 23:09Speaker 2: if the flood had never happened, and if sin, condition
- 23:11Speaker 2: and pollution, all these things had never happened. In apple,
- 23:14Speaker 2: just an apple might be the size of a pumpkin. Today,
- 23:17Speaker 2: think about the original return to Eden. You're talking about
- 23:21Speaker 2: Eden's essentials. We are looking at the return of Paradise
- 23:24Speaker 2: as God originally defined it for us. So a lot
- 23:28Speaker 2: of people right now they really want to put a
- 23:29Speaker 2: lot of promisory notes on the Bible that aren't there,
- 23:32Speaker 2: and some of them that we get is where two
- 23:35Speaker 2: or three are gathered. Yeah, you hear it, and you
- 23:38Speaker 2: have not because you ask not. Okay, it works out
- 23:42Speaker 2: conveniently that both of those verses are referring to church conflict,
- 23:47Speaker 2: conflict between believers. Okay, context of Matthew eighteen twenty, where
- 23:51Speaker 2: two or more are gathered. Starting in verse fifteen, Jesus
- 23:54Speaker 2: address conflicts between believers, not prayer requests or any kind
- 23:59Speaker 2: of healing. Then he outlines a forced a procedure to
- 24:02Speaker 2: deal with somebody who has sinned against person. Again conflict.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Then he goes on to teach forgiveness. Still not healing.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Over in James four one through four, where we see
- 24:11Speaker 2: we have not because you ask not, and people say
- 24:13Speaker 2: you have not that healing because you ask not that healing. Right, Okay,
- 24:17Speaker 2: he's talking about fighting and quarreling among themselves. He's talking
- 24:20Speaker 2: about them being driven by lusts and desires. That battle
- 24:23Speaker 2: within the church. He's talking about craving what others have
- 24:26Speaker 2: nothing about. This is of physical healing. So we take
- 24:29Speaker 2: these verses out of context. But remember this, we are
- 24:33Speaker 2: constantly shrouding the miracles from our news. We don't even
- 24:37Speaker 2: see it. We're censored, we're shadow band. People don't see
- 24:41Speaker 2: that there are miracles happening all over.
- 24:43Speaker 1: The globe, right, or they've become desensitized because it's anecdotal
- 24:47Speaker 1: or hearsay because it's not on video or whatever.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Right, well, I would like to additionally offer some hope
- 24:52Speaker 3: in that through God's medicine for a lot of the
- 24:56Speaker 3: things that we're suffering with, there are things you can
- 25:00Speaker 3: do to combat and fight against chronic disease. And a
- 25:04Speaker 3: lot of it has to do with what you are
- 25:06Speaker 3: eating and putting in your body. And I am also
- 25:08Speaker 3: guilty of being the type to pray for healing and
- 25:12Speaker 3: yet stuff my face with hostess and little debbies. I
- 25:15Speaker 3: have been there, and I just want to offer additional
- 25:19Speaker 3: hope that there are some things you can do. Go
- 25:21Speaker 3: find a holistic practitioner, get with a nutritionist, start working
- 25:26Speaker 3: on what you are putting in your body.
- 25:28Speaker 1: You know earlier when I said you will live according
- 25:31Speaker 1: to the laws of God, it's obviously an option. He
- 25:33Speaker 1: gives you free will. You can do anything that you
- 25:36Speaker 1: want to do. But when you live outside of the
- 25:40Speaker 1: laws of God. One of his laws is the way
- 25:42Speaker 1: he designed our bodies. He made them a certain way healthy,
- 25:47Speaker 1: got microbiome. He made your body in such a way
- 25:50Speaker 1: that you're supposed to nourish it with his food. One
- 25:54Speaker 1: of the consequences that you may be walking out, maybe
- 25:57Speaker 1: even in ignorance, not living according to the laws of God,
- 26:01Speaker 1: by putting things in your body that He never intended
- 26:04Speaker 1: for your body to have to cope with. Is this
- 26:06Speaker 1: making sense? Yeah, So it's not that you're facing judgment
- 26:09Speaker 1: because you ate something wrong. It's about simply retooling, talking
- 26:14Speaker 1: about get into accordance with the laws of God, and
- 26:19Speaker 1: that means what you're putting on your dinner plate. Is
- 26:21Speaker 1: this making sense? Did you guys learn something today?
- 26:29Speaker 2: Jesus Christ. It's in theology. It is called the condescension
- 26:33Speaker 2: of the nature of Christ. He literally became a human being.
- 26:38Speaker 2: It's like us becoming an aunt at the top of
- 26:40Speaker 2: an ant hill, right, something tiny compared to what we are.
- 26:44Speaker 2: He became human, and he suffered in every way that
- 26:49Speaker 2: we can suffer. He was tempted in every way that
- 26:52Speaker 2: we are tempted. The Book of Hebrews makes that clear.
- 26:55Speaker 2: And he did that so that as you were speaking
- 26:58Speaker 2: earlier about what is it about that human thing that
- 27:01Speaker 2: we need relatability? That is why the Son of God
- 27:05Speaker 2: made himself the most suffering, relatable servant to humanity.
- 27:18Speaker 1: It's beautifully said I hope that you were blessed by
- 27:21Speaker 1: today's program, And I got to tell you I am
- 27:23Speaker 1: very much looking forward to my heavenly body. If you
- 27:26Speaker 1: don't know Jesus Christ, you can fix that right now.
- 27:29Speaker 1: You can simply ask Jesus into your heart to be
- 27:32Speaker 1: the Lord and Savior of your life and find a
- 27:35Speaker 1: local church, find a local home Bible study group, find
- 27:39Speaker 1: somebody that aligns with Jesus that you know in your life.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Reach out, find that person and have them walk you
- 27:45Speaker 1: through how to get to know Jesus more, because he
- 27:49Speaker 1: is the de facto answer for all of the stuff
- 27:52Speaker 1: that this place is serving up right for everybody here
- 27:59Speaker 1: in studio. Donna Jamie, thank you so much for joining
- 28:02Speaker 1: me today. Unfortunately we're all out of time. I'm Gerard
- 28:05Speaker 1: as Horn. Keep your eyes on deep prize, which is
- 28:07Speaker 1: Jesus Christ. We'll be back.
