A 44-year-old man, Antonio Montellano, just received a 25-year sentence for the brutal murder of a Yakama Nation man in January 2025. Already under federal supervision for drug trafficking since 2012, Montellano allegedly attacked his victim during a meth-fueled argument, using a shovel even after the man fell. He then tried to cover his tracks, stole items, and fled across the border into Mexico—where U.S. and Mexican authorities worked together to bring him back.
