- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah that Uh, Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
- 0:05Speaker 2: The rex was not chasing the jeep. Murray, Murray, you there.
- 0:10Speaker 2: You love sandwiches. Huh, Let's go to uh eighty. It
- 0:14Speaker 2: was bo wow that prime time. Maybe I had a
- 0:18Speaker 2: crush on Betty Rubbell.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 1: to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan Coachman was black.
- 0:25Speaker 2: He caught them the game last night, although they won
- 0:28Speaker 2: the game.
- 0:29Speaker 1: You're listening just to gods in Company. I mean, I
- 0:33Speaker 1: can't get rid of this guy. He's pointing at me
- 0:36Speaker 1: already looking up.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Who doesn't love starting off Friday staring at two gotts.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Oh, it's the greatest. My wife.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Hates every Friday, every dayDay and Wednesday.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Taylor put it on the pole in Arizona. Is football?
- 0:58Speaker 2: Beck? Oh my god, I put a fly. I can't
- 1:04Speaker 2: believe this.
- 1:05Speaker 1: I mocked the Hall of Fame game and that was
- 1:06Speaker 1: the greatest Hall of Fame game of all time last night.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Uh huh.
- 1:09Speaker 3: So I always have the same routine, which I'm sure
- 1:13Speaker 3: most football fans do, which is, Oh, I'm excited that
- 1:16Speaker 3: football is back, and I'm gonna sit down and it's
- 1:18Speaker 3: like having Thursday night football and I'm gonna watch it,
- 1:21Speaker 3: and I end up watching one series in the night,
- 1:24Speaker 3: bail and I go watch Beachfront Bargain Hunt, because there's
- 1:27Speaker 3: just nothing compelling about it. But I had said I
- 1:30Speaker 3: want to watch it because obviously I'm a UM fan.
- 1:32Speaker 3: I want to see what Carson Beck does. And i'd
- 1:34Speaker 3: been seeing for a couple of weeks that he was
- 1:37Speaker 3: kind of lightening it up during camp. But you don't
- 1:39Speaker 3: know how that's going to translate.
- 1:41Speaker 2: And I found last night's game to be compelling as well.
- 1:45Speaker 2: I watched the whole thing.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Plus the Marlins were in a rain delay made it
- 1:49Speaker 3: easier for me to watch the football game a Carson Beck, man,
- 1:55Speaker 3: I know we've.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Done this before. I mean, Skyler Thompson in.
- 2:01Speaker 3: The preseason looked like the next Dan Marino at times.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Yes, but we.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Watched Carson Beck do it all the way to the
- 2:10Speaker 3: Natty last year for UM.
- 2:12Speaker 1: So yes, I don't think we've been watching Carson Beck
- 2:14Speaker 1: do it for nearly a decade.
- 2:15Speaker 3: I mean, I mean on the highest stage, right, if
- 2:17Speaker 3: you're doing it in the SEC and then you're going
- 2:20Speaker 3: to the uh Natty with an acc team like you're
- 2:24Speaker 3: doing something right, like and and everyone was saying the
- 2:27Speaker 3: same thing last night. He's healthy and you can see
- 2:30Speaker 3: when he's healthy, he's in command.
- 2:31Speaker 2: He threw some dimes. Man, Yeah, no doubt. Uh.
- 2:35Speaker 1: If Jacoby Pressett, if I'm him, I pack my bags.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I mean, I mean, already you're on the outs, you're
- 2:42Speaker 1: holding out here, You're I mean, what's going on here?
- 2:45Speaker 1: And now you've got Carson bag.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Just I mean, you have no expectations.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Why would you not see what you have in Carson
- 2:52Speaker 1: Beck headed into what people are saying is the best
- 2:54Speaker 1: quarterback draft in the history of the NFL draft.
- 2:56Speaker 2: I mean, I totally agree.
- 2:58Speaker 3: I honestly, I totally because whatever Arizona does, it's all
- 3:03Speaker 3: upside this season, right, they're expected to be one of the.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Worst teams, if not the worst team in the league.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Right, you called me Brissett's not going to lead you
- 3:11Speaker 3: to a super Bowl, Gardner Minshew is not going to
- 3:15Speaker 3: lead you to a super Bowl? Now, So why not
- 3:19Speaker 3: ride with Carson Beck? Who this isn't you know, a
- 3:23Speaker 3: nineteen year old kid. This is an adult. He's played
- 3:26Speaker 3: at the highest level. Yes, he see everyone always says, oh,
- 3:29Speaker 3: the SEC.
- 3:30Speaker 2: The SEC.
- 3:30Speaker 4: But that is the highest level of college football.
- 3:34Speaker 1: And to your point on his aage, to your point
- 3:36Speaker 1: on his age, this but this should be a six
- 3:38Speaker 1: or seventh season in the NFL.
- 3:39Speaker 3: I mean, this is almost his farewell retirement season. I
- 3:45Speaker 3: would absolutely ride with Carson Beck. Now listen, can he
- 3:49Speaker 3: shit the bed in Game two? Absolutely you can't. I
- 3:53Speaker 3: mean the guys he's playing against for the most part
- 3:56Speaker 3: in this game, a quarterback of his caliber should be
- 4:01Speaker 3: tearing them up.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Yes, right, he's He's probably faced tougher rushes before when
- 4:07Speaker 1: he was at Georgia. I'm not kidding.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Practice yeah, I can't practice right, So, but he was
- 4:12Speaker 3: still he was still fifteen of nineteen for one ninety
- 4:15Speaker 3: eight and a touchd at it.
- 4:16Speaker 2: More importantly for me, he just looked like he belonged.
- 4:19Speaker 5: You know.
- 4:19Speaker 3: That was like weird, Yeah, another.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Um player that the Dolphins miss out on.
- 4:27Speaker 2: What do you got, Taylor?
- 4:28Speaker 5: The two things that I wrote down from this Hall
- 4:30Speaker 5: of Fame game, HAUK. Yesterday I was saying, I'm gonna
- 4:32Speaker 5: watch every snap of this Hall of Fame game, and
- 4:35Speaker 5: everybody on the radio show laughed at me, and I
- 4:37Speaker 5: was like, the end of the games are normally better
- 4:39Speaker 5: because it's guys that are fighting for their lives for
- 4:41Speaker 5: a roster spot, trying to make it. And then you
- 4:43Speaker 5: get the Haines King walk off touchdown.
- 4:45Speaker 2: But that guy's always fighting for his life, Haines King.
- 4:47Speaker 5: I mean the two things I wrote down, Carson Beck
- 4:51Speaker 5: passes the eye test. Haines King has it?
- 4:56Speaker 2: Wrote that down?
- 4:57Speaker 3: Huh yeah, yeah, with a and a paper.
- 5:01Speaker 5: The second Haines King was leading that drive first off.
- 5:04Speaker 5: When the Cardinals scored that touchdown, I said, wait, too
- 5:07Speaker 5: much time for Haines King. And then once Haines King
- 5:10Speaker 5: led the drive, I wrote down on my notepad Haines
- 5:12Speaker 5: King it.
- 5:14Speaker 1: But I think is questioning whether you actually wrote it
- 5:17Speaker 1: down or not.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Do you have proof that you wrote it down anywhere?
- 5:19Speaker 2: I mean, oh wow, crazy.
- 5:22Speaker 4: So you watched the Hall of Fame game with a
- 5:25Speaker 4: notebook and a pen.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah.
- 5:27Speaker 3: This, by the way, because he said I was going
- 5:29Speaker 3: to watch every snap, I didn't. I thought the story
- 5:31Speaker 3: was going to end with him not watching every snap.
- 5:35Speaker 3: My right hand to God is the first I'm hearing
- 5:38Speaker 3: that Arizona did not win last night.
- 5:43Speaker 2: You missed the Haines King drive.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Uh, you are breaking news to me that I have
- 5:49Speaker 3: been in my head celebrating a Carson Back win in
- 5:53Speaker 3: his NFL debut.
- 5:55Speaker 2: This is shocking. And I go right back to Jacoby Brissett.
- 5:59Speaker 2: If I'm Arizona.
- 6:00Speaker 1: That bumm couldn't hold onto a lead, right, he left
- 6:03Speaker 1: Hayes King too much time?
- 6:04Speaker 2: I mean yeah.
- 6:06Speaker 5: Oh, and at the end of the game they were
- 6:08Speaker 5: down three and Dave Canalis had the choice kick the
- 6:13Speaker 5: field goal. We'll end this game in a tie or
- 6:16Speaker 5: two seconds left, Who really cares. Let's give Haines King
- 6:19Speaker 5: a chance to win. Haines King rushes it in. Yeah,
- 6:22Speaker 5: it's funny you mentioned Jacoby Brissett because I was actually
- 6:25Speaker 5: thinking earlier that I'm with you guys, I'm starting Carson
- 6:29Speaker 5: Beck if I'm the Cardinals. We know what we're getting
- 6:31Speaker 5: with Jacoby Brissett. The worst football game I've ever seen live.
- 6:36Speaker 5: Jacoby Brissett was one of the quarterbacks. It was when
- 6:38Speaker 5: he was on the Dolphins, and it was Dolphins Texans.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:41Speaker 5: Jacoby Brissett versus Tyrod Taylor nine combined turnovers.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Yeah, that can happen when those two matchups.
- 6:51Speaker 3: What you expect to happen did you write down in
- 6:54Speaker 3: your notebook?
- 6:54Speaker 2: Dave Kanalis balls.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Oxy This this is the origins of Weekend Observations right here.
- 7:06Speaker 2: You're writing him down in a notebook anything else?
- 7:08Speaker 1: So you just have So let's just be clear, Carson Beck,
- 7:11Speaker 1: what'd you write down for? Carson passes the eye test? Okay,
- 7:15Speaker 1: so the sniff argue too? Yes, yes, yes, it's like
- 7:18Speaker 1: I'm raising a kid. Does he pass the sniff test? Yeah,
- 7:22Speaker 1: I have a sniff test. I just I have to
- 7:24Speaker 1: see what you look like. There's no telling guys look
- 7:27Speaker 1: different in college uniforms than they do in NFL uniforms.
- 7:31Speaker 1: And sometimes they look like they belong when they're playing
- 7:34Speaker 1: in college, but it doesn't translate to the NFL. And
- 7:38Speaker 1: so I need to see what a guy looks like
- 7:40Speaker 1: in his uniform and play a couple of downs.
- 7:42Speaker 2: And that's how I do the sniff test.
- 7:44Speaker 1: And I got to tell you, Carson Beck graded out
- 7:47Speaker 1: on my sniff test as high as anyone has ever
- 7:49Speaker 1: graded out ever.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Wow. Yeah, that's crazy Because I know Stu Gott's from
- 7:53Speaker 3: working with him from years ago.
- 7:54Speaker 2: He is notoriously tough on the sniff test. He thinks
- 8:00Speaker 2: very seriously. It smells like a quarterback.
- 8:07Speaker 3: And he's like, what are you doing down there? Are
- 8:10Speaker 3: you doing Carson Becks season? Yes, I think we might
- 8:14Speaker 3: have something here.
- 8:16Speaker 1: All right, see what you have on what'd you have
- 8:19Speaker 1: on the the other Haines King?
- 8:21Speaker 2: What'd you write down for him? Haines King has it?
- 8:24Speaker 2: He does have it?
- 8:25Speaker 5: He does yeah, And the other the other note I
- 8:27Speaker 5: actually do have now that i'm.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Looking to Hockey has a win. This is shocking to me.
- 8:33Speaker 5: The other notes that I have, now that I'm looking
- 8:35Speaker 5: back at it, it's be worried.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Yes, Well, Bryce Young, I gotta tell you he is
- 8:40Speaker 1: a little too confident on the sidelines over there.
- 8:43Speaker 2: I got to you had one decent season.
- 8:45Speaker 4: Bryce.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Let's let's slow your roll a little bit because I
- 8:48Speaker 3: remember what you looked like yours one and two?
- 8:50Speaker 2: Right, Because Haines King has it right, so.
- 8:54Speaker 5: Hawk, I'm not at the point where Bryce Young should
- 8:56Speaker 5: be worried. But my other note was Kenny Pickett enough enough,
- 9:00Speaker 5: we know what Ken you Pikett is?
- 9:02Speaker 2: Yeah, pack your Becks.
- 9:04Speaker 4: He got shown up by Carson Beck in a big way.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:07Speaker 1: But Hockey love this because headed into a season, you
- 9:10Speaker 1: have no idea what the Dolphins are gonna be you
- 9:12Speaker 1: never do. But at least you love you eb and
- 9:15Speaker 1: so at least you have an alternative. If indeed Carson becks,
- 9:18Speaker 1: you could just root for Carson beck.
- 9:19Speaker 3: You don't have to root for the Cardinals. You could
- 9:21Speaker 3: just root for him. You know, well, I'm telling you
- 9:23Speaker 3: because I love Rubin Bain. Another potential miss by the Dolphins. Yes,
- 9:29Speaker 3: I love Ruben Bain, and I happen to love Baker Mayfield.
- 9:33Speaker 3: I don't have any ties to Baker Mayfield. He didn't
- 9:35Speaker 3: go to the University of Miami. I mean, I literally
- 9:37Speaker 3: have no ties to him other than I enjoy watching him.
- 9:41Speaker 3: And by the way, you know, my son went to
- 9:42Speaker 3: University of Tampa the last four years, so I've got
- 9:45Speaker 3: a little bit of a tie to Tampa. But I
- 9:47Speaker 3: can find myself rooting for the Buccaneers this season.
- 9:50Speaker 4: For Ruben Bain.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Specifically, I like Tampa Bain, Tampa bayin they're excited about him. There, Man,
- 9:57Speaker 1: this has the potential to be a Dolphins miss of
- 10:02Speaker 1: epic proportion. Rubin Bain, we saw it in college.
- 10:08Speaker 3: If it translates to the NFL, and he was sitting
- 10:12Speaker 3: there for the Dolphins to take and listen, I trust
- 10:15Speaker 3: John Eric Sullivan. He's a he's a talent coordinator type
- 10:20Speaker 3: of guy. He knows what he's looking at. That's the
- 10:22Speaker 3: big selling point. Man ruben Bain has has a chance
- 10:27Speaker 3: to be one of the great misses of all time
- 10:30Speaker 3: in Dolphins history.
- 10:32Speaker 1: So you're saying, if the Dolphins didn't take ruben Bain
- 10:34Speaker 1: because his arms were a quarter inch too short, you're
- 10:37Speaker 1: gonna be outraged if he turns out to be great.
- 10:39Speaker 3: It's such a crazy criticism, right because wasn't he playing
- 10:43Speaker 3: against full sized humans in college football?
- 10:46Speaker 2: It was like, and I don't understand. His arms are
- 10:50Speaker 2: his arms he seems to do pretty well with however,
- 10:53Speaker 2: you know, short or long his wingspan is.
- 10:57Speaker 3: If that comes out as the reason that they didn't
- 11:00Speaker 3: end up taking him, to bang my head against the wall.
- 11:04Speaker 1: They're gonna fix the team in one draft with Bayne
- 11:06Speaker 1: and Carson Beck.
- 11:08Speaker 3: I'm telling you, and I know you know we Hurricanes
- 11:11Speaker 3: fans do this all the time where it's like, oh,
- 11:13Speaker 3: I watched this guy, Dolphins should take them. Oh I
- 11:15Speaker 3: saw this guy, Dolphins should take them. More often than
- 11:18Speaker 3: not their right, but there are plenty of misses of
- 11:21Speaker 3: guys who played in our backyard for a season, two seasons,
- 11:25Speaker 3: three seasons that are right there for the taking, and
- 11:29Speaker 3: for whatever reason, they pass on them. Carson Beck in
- 11:32Speaker 3: the third round when you're kind of in need of
- 11:35Speaker 3: a quarterback. I mean, I'd rather have Carson Beck than
- 11:38Speaker 3: Quin yours right now. I think I think I'm doing
- 11:41Speaker 3: this off one little Hall of Fame game that you know,
- 11:44Speaker 3: there was a half a practice before. But Ruben bain Man,
- 11:48Speaker 3: that one still irks me a little bit. I felt like, listen,
- 11:51Speaker 3: not to overreact after a game. But Carson Beck should
- 11:54Speaker 3: never leave Canton. I mean, he's gonna be there one
- 11:56Speaker 3: he's gonna have to go back.
- 11:57Speaker 2: How about that?
- 12:00Speaker 3: Gonna need you at midfield? Oh a postgame interview, No,
- 12:02Speaker 3: we need to measure you for the jacket.
- 12:04Speaker 2: The C in Carson stands for Canton Hack.
- 12:08Speaker 5: I forget who he had on. It was either Todd
- 12:10Speaker 5: McShay or mel kiper Field Yates, one of the draft
- 12:13Speaker 5: analyst guys, and we asked them where would Reuben bain
- 12:17Speaker 5: go in the draft if his arms were just a
- 12:19Speaker 5: quarter inch longer, And they were like, he would be
- 12:21Speaker 5: the number one pick in the draft.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Maddening. It's insane. That's maddening, Like that's so cutesy.
- 12:28Speaker 3: You know, everybody who's an expert in whatever field they are,
- 12:32Speaker 3: I don't care if it's banking, radio, football, everyone's gotta
- 12:37Speaker 3: have like this little piece of knowledge that a normal
- 12:40Speaker 3: person wouldn't to justify them being an expert.
- 12:44Speaker 2: That is so cutesy.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Listen, if his arms are two feet shorter than other lineman. Okay,
- 12:52Speaker 3: I'm with you, he's probably got some sort of thing
- 12:55Speaker 3: that would put him on TLC as a good reality program.
- 12:59Speaker 3: But like you kind of saw what he did in
- 13:01Speaker 3: college and how much shorter.
- 13:04Speaker 2: How much longer would they need to be to be
- 13:06Speaker 2: the overall number one?
- 13:08Speaker 5: It was like a quarter of an inch.
- 13:09Speaker 2: I think the quarter of an inch. It's a game inches.
- 13:12Speaker 2: I mean, what are we doing here? What are we doing? So?
- 13:17Speaker 1: What happens here? If Baine turns out to be to
- 13:21Speaker 1: be great? Is there now a new measurement on arms
- 13:23Speaker 1: at the combine?
- 13:24Speaker 2: Like what happen to stop looking at someone's arms?
- 13:26Speaker 3: Look at the plays that they made during college. I
- 13:30Speaker 3: saw him get to the quarterback constantly, even when he
- 13:35Speaker 3: was double teamed. But off the field, I took a
- 13:39Speaker 3: tape measure that had not been calibrated, and I held
- 13:42Speaker 3: it to his shoulder and I think I got it
- 13:45Speaker 3: down to the tip of his finger. Man, if I
- 13:48Speaker 3: had just seen one quarter inch more of finger there,
- 13:53Speaker 3: I could recommend you taking him in the first round.
- 13:56Speaker 3: But I'm gonna have to I'm gonna have to say,
- 13:59Speaker 3: let him slide to Tampa because that quarter inch can
- 14:02Speaker 3: be the difference.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Why'd you have.
- 14:05Speaker 1: His arms two feet shorter than everyone else you would have?
- 14:10Speaker 3: Because that would be funny that I would go, you know,
- 14:13Speaker 3: I think Kuiper's onto something because when I look at
- 14:16Speaker 3: that guy, it doesn't even look like he can keep
- 14:18Speaker 3: his balance. He's tilting over like he's a booie in
- 14:21Speaker 3: the ocean. And I would go, you know, I think
- 14:23Speaker 3: Kuiper's got something there.
- 14:24Speaker 2: It's hard to argue that.
- 14:30Speaker 1: When you say you love Baker Mayfield, you've gone to
- 14:32Speaker 1: see you just like his style of play.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Yeah, and what happens is like, even especially last season,
- 14:41Speaker 3: to compare and contrast watching Tua with watching Baker. I
- 14:46Speaker 3: love betting quarterback rushing overs. It's just, you know, the
- 14:50Speaker 3: way mel Kiper has created a niche of arm length.
- 14:54Speaker 4: Yes, I enjoy quarterback rushing overs.
- 14:58Speaker 3: And Tua's all, you know, was at half yard one yard,
- 15:03Speaker 3: and I would like to bet his overs because as
- 15:04Speaker 3: much as they would tell him.
- 15:05Speaker 4: Not to scramble, he was always good for one scramble.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Right, so he would literally stumble into a yard. Yes,
- 15:11Speaker 2: I would watch.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Him though on every play there were so many opportunities
- 15:15Speaker 3: that any other quarterback in the league would have taken
- 15:17Speaker 3: off right or could have extended a play, but he
- 15:20Speaker 3: would crumple. Baker Mayfield, I mean, he makes something out
- 15:26Speaker 3: of nothing. But he's a dude that just will throw
- 15:30Speaker 3: his body to get an extra yard or two, and
- 15:33Speaker 3: then he bounces up, you know, tougher and more badass
- 15:37Speaker 3: than when.
- 15:38Speaker 2: He went down.
- 15:38Speaker 3: And there's just something about him that I find to
- 15:41Speaker 3: be really likable. It's like when I was watching Tua
- 15:44Speaker 3: last season and then I'm watching Bucks games with Baker Mayfield,
- 15:47Speaker 3: I'm like, man, if I could root for a quarterback
- 15:49Speaker 3: like that who just has a lot of the elements
- 15:52Speaker 3: that Tua didn't have last season. All that being said,
- 15:56Speaker 3: I did bet Tua as Comeback Player of the Year
- 15:59Speaker 3: at plus four thousand because I believe he's going to
- 16:03Speaker 3: have an opportunity to play the majority of Falcons games.
- 16:07Speaker 3: And I don't know if you've looked at that Falcons
- 16:09Speaker 3: offensive roster, it's really good. They're stacked, man, and so
- 16:15Speaker 3: Toua might have an opportunity. First of all, you've got
- 16:18Speaker 3: b John Robinson there, so already you've got to be
- 16:21Speaker 3: worried about a run game, which is going to help
- 16:23Speaker 3: out his throwing game. And I'm just thinking Pennix isn't healthy,
- 16:28Speaker 3: and I think two is a better quarterback than Michael
- 16:30Speaker 3: Pennox anyway. Yeah, so I took a flyer at plus
- 16:33Speaker 3: four thousand and two, a comeback Player of the Year.
- 16:35Speaker 2: I love it because you love Bakers so much? Did you?
- 16:39Speaker 1: Did you also feel disrespected by the two year, one
- 16:41Speaker 1: hundred million dollar contract the Buccaneers offered him.
- 16:44Speaker 2: I mean it's like, what do you do with that?
- 16:49Speaker 3: Because it seems like that's are pretty generous offer, right,
- 16:55Speaker 3: and a guy who does play the way that he does,
- 16:58Speaker 3: you don't know when he's gonna get injured, Like some
- 17:00Speaker 3: point it's got to catch up with you. But I
- 17:02Speaker 3: also understand his theory, which is, well, I'd rather have
- 17:07Speaker 3: three years at one hundred and fifty million dollars, and
- 17:10Speaker 3: if he's able to use that as like this motivation
- 17:15Speaker 3: to have the best season that he's ever had, like, oh,
- 17:18Speaker 3: I think I'm worth three years, you only think I'm
- 17:20Speaker 3: worth two.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Watch what I go out there and do this season.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Like he's able to internalize that and use it as
- 17:25Speaker 3: motivation and he knows that, then it's probably ahead he
- 17:28Speaker 3: played by.
- 17:29Speaker 2: It helps his game. Yeah.
- 17:30Speaker 5: Yeah, And this isn't even just a Baker Mayfield thing.
- 17:32Speaker 5: This is a thing that I'm noticing in athletes across
- 17:35Speaker 5: the board, where you have somebody like Carmelo Anthony coming
- 17:38Speaker 5: out being like, you know, when a player signs for
- 17:40Speaker 5: two hundred million dollars, they're not really signing for two
- 17:43Speaker 5: hundred million after taxes, they're probably getting like one hundred
- 17:46Speaker 5: and fifty million. It's like, Carmelo, thanks, Like, listen to
- 17:51Speaker 5: what you're saying right now.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Well, they're making it seem like, yeah, you can't really
- 17:55Speaker 3: live out one hundred and fifty million, which they're just
- 17:58Speaker 3: working in numbers that humans are not working in.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Got aged fees, I got taxes, Yeah, you still have
- 18:04Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty million dollars.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Ype.
- 18:06Speaker 3: But even if you end up with seventy five million.
- 18:09Speaker 3: What if you ended up with only sixty million. We
- 18:12Speaker 3: had this conversation on the show yesterday on the radio show,
- 18:16Speaker 3: because Norris Cole came out and said, I would rather
- 18:20Speaker 3: have the fifty million dollars that I earned in my
- 18:25Speaker 3: NBA career and two rings than two hundred million. Was
- 18:31Speaker 3: it two hundred million or four hundred million? I think
- 18:33Speaker 3: then four hundred million and no rings and no rings?
- 18:38Speaker 2: Wow?
- 18:39Speaker 3: And because you got it, it was like yeah, Crowder
- 18:41Speaker 3: was like, he's out of his fucking mind what you
- 18:46Speaker 3: could do with four hundred million?
- 18:48Speaker 2: And I'm like, but what can't you do with fifty million? Yeah?
- 18:51Speaker 2: Well you could do more with four hundred million.
- 18:53Speaker 1: I understand what Channing is saying, but fifty million dollars
- 18:55Speaker 1: means when you get to that level, it means you don't.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Have to work another day your life. It's generational wealth.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Yes, fifty million dollars, while it seems small in professional sports,
- 19:07Speaker 3: it's generational wealth. It is four hundred million. Sure, does
- 19:11Speaker 3: it give you even more leeway in life? Yeah, but
- 19:15Speaker 3: there's not a lot that you can't do with fifty
- 19:17Speaker 3: million dollars. Norse Cole went on to say It was
- 19:19Speaker 3: on a podcast, but he went on to say, hey,
- 19:21Speaker 3: I'm not living in South Beach or LA. He goes, so,
- 19:24Speaker 3: imagine what a two million dollar house in the Midwest
- 19:27Speaker 3: is versus a two million dollar house in Miami. And
- 19:30Speaker 3: he's like, and I've got those two rings forever. And
- 19:33Speaker 3: I was saying to Crowder, you know, there is value
- 19:35Speaker 3: to being on a team that goes to a fire.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Whether it's the NBA Finals like Norse cole or a
- 19:41Speaker 3: Super Bowl run or Stanley Cup run, World Series run,
- 19:44Speaker 3: There's I think an economic value in just being part
- 19:49Speaker 3: of it, right, getting to experience something that many athletes.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Don't during those runs.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Yes, did he did. He's never going to be remembered, Nope,
- 20:01Speaker 3: for being on those teams because those teams were so loaded.
- 20:04Speaker 3: But he's got two rings, and he's got fifty million.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Dollars, yes, right, and he lives in the Midwest. Yes, huck.
- 20:14Speaker 5: That made me think of a TikTok trend that I
- 20:16Speaker 5: always see where I'm scrolling through and people are showing
- 20:19Speaker 5: these houses and they're like, look at this house that
- 20:21Speaker 5: I have in Debuke, Iowa. This is what one point
- 20:24Speaker 5: five million dollars gets you in Debukee, Iowa. And I'm like, okay,
- 20:28Speaker 5: but the trade off is you live in Dubuke, Iowa.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Yeah, Norris wants to live where he's living, you know.
- 20:33Speaker 3: Yeah, No, I've always had that thought because I know
- 20:35Speaker 3: what Lorie and I paid for our apartment in downtown Boca,
- 20:40Speaker 3: and I know what that would get me in Port
- 20:43Speaker 3: Saint Lucy. Oh geez, yes, and I could live. I
- 20:46Speaker 3: could go move to Port Saint Lucy and you would
- 20:49Speaker 3: think I was a Rockefeller.
- 20:51Speaker 2: I've been thinking about going there.
- 20:52Speaker 1: I'm serious that I'm in Port Saint Lucy.
- 20:56Speaker 4: A totally different story. Yeah, if you're moving, then I'll
- 20:58Speaker 4: move with.
- 20:59Speaker 2: You without the watch.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:01Speaker 2: In fact, I was gonna say, let's leave the wives here.

- 23:32Speaker 1: Oh and yesterday, I mean it was Sports Radio Heaven,
- 23:37Speaker 1: two hours full phone lines, unbelievable calls, and the topic
- 23:43Speaker 1: was if you could erase any sports event from your memory,
- 23:48Speaker 1: from everyone's memory in the history of sports, which event
- 23:52Speaker 1: would you erase?
- 23:53Speaker 2: Oh?
- 23:54Speaker 3: Amazing, You want to know what mine is? Yeah, just
- 23:57Speaker 3: off the top of my head. Now, this obviously this
- 23:59Speaker 3: is weird because I'm a Dolphins fan now, but I
- 24:01Speaker 3: grew up in Chicago.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Yes, but if your producer came to you with an
- 24:05Speaker 1: idea like that, you would love that topic.
- 24:07Speaker 2: It's a great topic, and you could get three weeks
- 24:09Speaker 2: out of it. Ye.
- 24:11Speaker 3: I mean you literally don't have to You don't have
- 24:13Speaker 3: to contain that in one hour, Like get.
- 24:15Speaker 5: We got sixty five calls off it?
- 24:17Speaker 3: Yeah, well you get sixty five more today, sixty five
- 24:21Speaker 3: more tomorrow next day.
- 24:24Speaker 2: In fact, Lombardo is on hold right now claiming he
- 24:29Speaker 2: did that topic back in the eighties. I did that topic,
- 24:34Speaker 2: and I had fifty four shares.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Fifty four shares, Sam Snead, My god, but I would
- 24:45Speaker 3: I would erase the primetime Bears loss to the Dolphins
- 24:51Speaker 3: in the Bears perfect season.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Oh wow, that's a good one.
- 24:54Speaker 3: Was that Monday night game? Now, I was a diehard
- 24:56Speaker 3: Bears fan back then. I'm a Dolphins fan now, so
- 24:58Speaker 3: it's weird to say that, But I was a Bears fan.
- 25:02Speaker 3: The Bears were not going to lose that season. That
- 25:04Speaker 3: was the Super Bowl Shuffle season, the eighty five Bears,
- 25:07Speaker 3: and they went up against the Dolphins on Monday Night
- 25:11Speaker 3: Football in Miami and it was the worst they looked
- 25:15Speaker 3: all season. Back then, a younger Mark Hackman may have
- 25:19Speaker 3: blamed Don Shula being part of the rules committee as
- 25:23Speaker 3: to one of the reasons for the outcome. But it
- 25:27Speaker 3: was the only bad moment in the eighty five Bear season,
- 25:34Speaker 3: which is for me, the most magical sports season. I
- 25:40Speaker 3: didn't think anything in my sports life with every clips
- 25:45Speaker 3: the eighty five Bear season, right, and then I ended
- 25:48Speaker 3: up getting the well, then I ended up going well.
- 25:52Speaker 3: I ended up going to UM eighty seven to ninety one,
- 25:54Speaker 3: which wasn't so bad when it was putting to football, yes,
- 25:57Speaker 3: And then I ended up being on sport radio in
- 26:00Speaker 3: Miami during the Big Three era, which did suck. And
- 26:04Speaker 3: then all of a sudden, I'm on the Florida Panthers
- 26:08Speaker 3: flagship station when they're bringing in Matthew Chuck Brady Chuck,
- 26:13Speaker 3: Brad Marsh and I mean, like it's it's been.
- 26:16Speaker 4: It's been pretty remarkable our sports run.
- 26:19Speaker 3: But that eighty five Bear season had one negative game one.
- 26:24Speaker 4: And it was Monday night against the Dolphins.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Right, it was a Monday night Taylor Marino. It was
- 26:29Speaker 1: like Chicago was right for the taking in that game.
- 26:32Speaker 1: And Marino was fired up for that game because he
- 26:34Speaker 1: wanted because the Dolphins have the only undefeated team in
- 26:36Speaker 1: NFL history, and Marino wanted to make sure that still
- 26:40Speaker 1: was the case.
- 26:41Speaker 3: He had to protect Mercury Morris and the rest of
- 26:44Speaker 3: the guys.
- 26:44Speaker 2: So they were all there, they're toast. Yes, yeah, they
- 26:47Speaker 2: were all on the sidelines.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Tailor, imagine that the seventy two Dolphins the Bears come
- 26:51Speaker 1: strolling into the town and there's Mercury Morris and Larry
- 26:54Speaker 1: Zanka just sitting there staring at him.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Yeah, goosebumps. So you were that from your memory?
- 27:01Speaker 3: Yeah, that's probably just just off the top of my head. Yeah,
- 27:05Speaker 3: that's the one that I would take off.
- 27:06Speaker 2: All right, man, we appreciate you doing this.
- 27:09Speaker 1: I am currently getting the packing peanuts out.
- 27:14Speaker 3: Texting all my sons moving and they said everything in
- 27:20Speaker 3: the house, and I said, no, only my stuff?
- 27:22Speaker 2: Yeah, all right? What a palace on the beach? Right
- 27:25Speaker 2: of course? Yes? Is there a beach in Port Saint Lucy?
- 27:28Speaker 2: I'm Taylor? Is there? Taylor's parents live in Port Saint Lucy.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Why didn't take a shout? I'm sorry, I believe was
- 27:35Speaker 1: it your girlfriend's parents?
- 27:36Speaker 2: Yeah? Okay, is there a beach? I don't remember. There's
- 27:41Speaker 2: just spring training baseball field? Have it? We're gonna build
- 27:43Speaker 2: a manship that overlooks the Saint Lucy
- 27:46Speaker 1: Mets, the only good Mets team
