- 0:45Samantha Pruitts: Well, hello, beautiful humans.
- 0:47Samantha Pruitts: Coach Sam here today going solo.
- 0:50Samantha Pruitts: Miss my girl Polly, but I got a few things to say.
- 0:54Samantha Pruitts: And actually, what I want to do is a little Earth School microlearning episode.
- 1:00Samantha Pruitts: Something that Coach Polly and I have been talking about a lot lately.
- 1:05Samantha Pruitts: Building the muscle of self-compassion.
- 1:10Samantha Pruitts: Indeed, it's a muscle.
- 1:12Samantha Pruitts: It takes practice.
- 1:13Samantha Pruitts: It needs to be built.
- 1:15Samantha Pruitts: Building the muscle of self-compassion.
- 1:18Samantha Pruitts: So today I'm going to give you three steps to begin again.
- 1:25Samantha Pruitts: Yes, that's right.
- 1:27Samantha Pruitts: To begin again.
- 1:29Samantha Pruitts: When you fall back into your old habit of beating yourself up or just simply not giving yourself enough grace to really evolve yourself with self-compassion, I want to give you three steps.
- 1:43Samantha Pruitts: Okay, you knew from the beginning it wasn't going to be that simple, right?
- 1:47Samantha Pruitts: Okay, let's dig in.
- 1:51Samantha Pruitts: Step one.
- 1:54Samantha Pruitts: Remember where you came from.
- 1:58Samantha Pruitts: Do you know the odds of you being born are actually one in 400 trillion?
- 2:06Samantha Pruitts: That's right.
- 2:08Samantha Pruitts: T trillion.
- 2:10Samantha Pruitts: One in four hundred trillion.
- 2:12Samantha Pruitts: You, my friend, are the miraculous result of your parents' meeting, the incredible tenacity and resiliency of one egg and one sperm coming into contact at the exact right time.
- 2:28Samantha Pruitts: Your mother's health and the health of your environment being good enough to facilitate you actually surviving and being born.
- 2:37Samantha Pruitts: That is wild.
- 2:39Samantha Pruitts: So your mother carried you inside her, and on some cellular level, she is inside you now.
- 2:49Samantha Pruitts: Your father helped to contribute to your existence and your DNA, as did all the ancestors, whether they raised you or not.
- 3:00Samantha Pruitts: And truly, any human who helped to raise you from an infant into an adult, no matter how imperfect, kept you alive and contributed to you becoming.
- 3:13Samantha Pruitts: All of these different humans helped you survive by showing you life tools and teaching you how to use them, or by not giving you life tools and therefore making it mandatory that you develop these fierce tools and skills yourself and become who you are today.
- 3:34Samantha Pruitts: Congratulations! It's no small feat.
- 3:39Samantha Pruitts: So we all came here from someone's, somewhere, and no matter the circumstances, it's an absolute miracle that we are each alive.
- 3:50Samantha Pruitts: And therefore, we should remember that every day we stay alive, we are still just learning how to do this incredibly challenging, complicated, and messy thing called living.
- 4:04Samantha Pruitts: Keep it real, folks.
- 4:07Samantha Pruitts: Number two, become your own soulmate.
- 4:13Samantha Pruitts: You all have seemingly unlimited love for others, but not enough love for yourself.
- 4:19Samantha Pruitts: Soulmating starts with you first.
- 4:22Samantha Pruitts: Self-love.
- 4:25Samantha Pruitts: So pay attention and keep relearning how to speak to yourself like your best friend, your little brother, your little sister, or the love of your life.
- 4:36Samantha Pruitts: Spoiler alert, you are the love of your life.
- 4:40Samantha Pruitts: Write love letters to yourself if this is a hard one for you.
- 4:44Samantha Pruitts: That's a project I've been on lately, thanks to uh author Elizabeth Gilbert.
- 4:49Samantha Pruitts: I write a nightly love letter to myself.
- 4:52Samantha Pruitts: Sometimes it's a couple paragraphs, sometimes it's a sentence, sometimes it's a page.
- 4:57Samantha Pruitts: Dear Sam, I think this is a great exercise for everybody, and I cannot rave enough about it.
- 5:08Samantha Pruitts: Consider writing a love letter to yourself, either once or every damn day if you need to.
- 5:13Samantha Pruitts: Acknowledge and give thanks to your body for all it has been through and how every day it keeps showing up for you.
- 5:24Samantha Pruitts: Your body is the most resilient, wise, and committed partner you have on this crazy ass ride called life.
- 5:33Samantha Pruitts: You might actually want to send your body some flowers and a box of chocolates right now.
- 5:38Samantha Pruitts: And then stop throwing punches.
- 5:43Samantha Pruitts: No one deserves to be beaten.
- 5:45Samantha Pruitts: No one.
- 5:46Samantha Pruitts: Stop throwing punches.
- 5:48Samantha Pruitts: Work to acknowledge your regrets and say that you're sorry to yourself.
- 5:53Samantha Pruitts: Fully express any regrets you hold with speech or in writing so you can forgive yourself.
- 6:01Samantha Pruitts: You've gotta release them out of your mind, out of your heart, and out of your body.
- 6:07Samantha Pruitts: They are serving no purpose whatsoever, but indeed they are holding you back from liberation.
- 6:14Samantha Pruitts: Number three, heal open wounds and work on those scars.
- 6:22Samantha Pruitts: Wounds bleed and they get infected.
- 6:25Samantha Pruitts: Scars become thick, hard, and they immobilize areas of the body and the heart.
- 6:32Samantha Pruitts: Heal open wounds by shifting your thoughts, your talk, and your actions away from re-injury and into resolution.
- 6:44Samantha Pruitts: Healing looks different for all of us.
- 6:47Samantha Pruitts: There are so many different types of therapies out there these days.
- 6:52Samantha Pruitts: Endless amounts of opportunity for body work and energy work.
- 6:57Samantha Pruitts: Massive pivots and resets are available for you, change agents.
- 7:02Samantha Pruitts: Explore all the ways.
- 7:04Samantha Pruitts: Really examine what is absolutely possible for you to heal.
- 7:11Samantha Pruitts: There are endless solutions.
- 7:13Samantha Pruitts: I believe you really do know what I'm talking about.
- 7:16Samantha Pruitts: I mean, I'm not talking about what you see online.
- 7:18Samantha Pruitts: I'm talking about really think about it.
- 7:21Samantha Pruitts: And then pick the one that feels right for you.
- 7:25Samantha Pruitts: By either resolving the issue or just letting go, you can move on and make space for change, fresh body, heart, and mind tissue to grow.
- 7:38Samantha Pruitts: Lastly, once the wound scars over, get mobile.
- 7:44Samantha Pruitts: Move your heart and the connected tissue of your life so that they don't become hardened, calcified, rigid, and block future energy, relationships, and opportunities from coming to you.
- 8:00Samantha Pruitts: Okay, my beautiful humans.
- 8:03Samantha Pruitts: Three ways I dropped in your ear today.
- 8:07Samantha Pruitts: Three ways to begin again when you are learning or relearning or practicing or simply growing the muscle of self-compassion.
- 8:17Samantha Pruitts: I am so excited and I really hope that some of these words vibrated and resonated within you.
- 8:26Samantha Pruitts: If self-compassion is really tough for you, reach out to us.
- 8:30Samantha Pruitts: We're here to help.
- 8:32Samantha Pruitts: Meanwhile, I'll see you next week.
- 8:35Samantha Pruitts: And what you need to remember is how your life feels is more important than how it looks.
- 8:42Samantha Pruitts: See you next time.
