- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Galatians four This is what I am saying.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: When young children inherit all that their father owned, they are still no different from his slaves.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: It does not matter that they own everything.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: While they are children, they must obey those who are chosen to care for them, but when they reach the age the father set, they are free.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: It is the same for us.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: We were once like children, slaves to the useless rulers of this world.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: But when the right time came, God sent his son.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: She was b a woman, his son was born from a woman and lived under the law.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: God did this so that he could buy freedom of those who were living under the law.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: God's purpose was to make us his children.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Since you are now God's children, he has sent the Spirit of His Son into your hearts.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: The Spirit cries out Abba Father, now you are not like slaves like before, you are God's children, and you will receive everything He promised His children.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: Paul's love for the Galatian believers In the past you did not know God, you were slaves to gods that weren't real.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: But now you know the one true God, really though, it is God who knows you.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: So why do you turn your back to the same kind of weak and useless rules you followed before?
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Do you want to be slaves to those things again?
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: It worries me that you follow teachings about special days, months, seasons, and years.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: I fear that my work for you has been wasted.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Brothers and sisters, I became like you, so please become like me.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: You were very good to me before.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: You know that I came to you the first time because I was sick.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: That was when I told the good news to you.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: My sickness was a burden to you, but you did not stop showing me respect or make me leave.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Instead you welcomed me as if I were an angel from God.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: You accepted me as if I were Christ Himself.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: You were very happy then.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Where is that joy now?
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: I can say without a doubt that you would have done anything to help me.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: If it had been possible, you would have taken out your own eyes and given them to me.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: Am I now your enemy because I tell you the truth?
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Those people are working hard to persuade you, but this is not good for you.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: They want to persuade you to turn against us and work hard for them.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: It is good for you to work hard, of course, if it is for something good.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: That's something you should do whether I am there or not.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: My little children, I am in pain again over you like a mother giving birth.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: I will feel this pain until people can look at you and see Christ.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: I wish I could be with you now, then maybe I could change the way I'm talking to you.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: Now I don't know what to do about you.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: The example of Hagar and Sarah Some of you want to be under the law.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Tell me, do you know what the law says?
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: The scriptures say that Abraham had two sons.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: The mother of one son was a slave woman, and the mother of the other son was a free woman.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Abraham's son from the slave woman was born in the normal human way, but the son from the free woman was born because of the promise God made to Abraham.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: This true story makes a picture for us.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: The two women are like the two agreements between God and his people.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: One agreement is the law that God made on Mount Sinai.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: The people who are under this agreement are like slaves.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: The mother named Hagar is like that agreement.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: So Hagar is like Mount Sinai in Arabia.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: She is a picture of the earthly Jewish city of Jerusalem.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: This city is a slave, and all of its people are slaves to the law.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: But the heavenly Jerusalem that is above is like the free woman who is our mother.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: The scriptures say Be happy woman, you who cannot have children, be glad you never gave birth, shout and cry with joy, you never felt those labor pains.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: The woman who is alone will have more children than the woman who has a husband.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: Isaiah fifty four verse one.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: My brothers and sisters, you are children who are born because of God's promise just as Isaac was.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: But the other son of Abraham who was born in the normal way caused trouble for the one who was born by the power of the Spirit.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: It is the same today.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: What do the scriptures say?
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: Throw out the slave woman and her son.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: The son of the free woman will receive everything his father has, but the son of the slave woman will receive nothing.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: So, my brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, we are children of the free woman.
