- 0:24Speaker 1: It is time leave your worries outside and come laugh
- 0:29Speaker 1: with us inside the treehouse. I'm Daniel Malley, along with
- 0:33Speaker 1: Trey Trenholm and Jerry called well today. It is Wednesday,
- 0:38Speaker 1: December fourth, twenty twenty four. You are inside the treehouse
- 0:44Speaker 1: and you are welcome. I have great news, guys, great
- 0:51Speaker 1: great news to start the day. Japan is giving us
- 0:58Speaker 1: new technology because they have unveiled a human washing machine.
- 1:07Speaker 2: And that what a wife's for.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Oh, should have seen that coming. We'll see you tomorrow
- 1:19Speaker 1: inside the treehouse. M hm, bad host, Dan bad Posts
- 1:31Speaker 1: should have seen that one coming, super obvious. Anyway, Japan
- 1:38Speaker 1: is throwing new technology at us. A human washing machine
- 1:42Speaker 1: is expected in twenty twenty five, not nineteen fifty five.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Tray, so a robot wife.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Okay, well then it is Japan, so that will actually
- 1:57Speaker 1: track pretty well. This is a great example of one
- 2:02Speaker 1: of the things that I live by. Okay, I have
- 2:06Speaker 1: a few tenants that I live by, one of which
- 2:08Speaker 1: is it's not just what you say, but how you
- 2:13Speaker 1: say it. I'm a firm believer in how you say things.
- 2:19Speaker 1: It's supremely important. And this is a great example of
- 2:22Speaker 1: that because there's a couple different ways to read that,
- 2:27Speaker 1: where you'd get different meaning out of it. I'll show
- 2:30Speaker 1: you a human washing machine is coming in twenty twenty five,
- 2:38Speaker 1: versus a human washing machine is coming in twenty twenty five.
- 2:45Speaker 1: A human washing machine is coming in twenty twenty five,
- 2:49Speaker 1: which leads Tray to think, well, we already have those.
- 2:52Speaker 1: They're called wives.
- 2:55Speaker 2: But this is.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Versus a human washing machine is coming in twenty twenty five.
- 3:06Speaker 1: No wife joke there, Well, I mean maybe there's still
- 3:12Speaker 1: works for.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Of a mistress joke at that point.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Happened again. I should have seen that coming. We're just started.
- 3:27Speaker 1: We can't stop the show yet. I don't care how
- 3:29Speaker 1: funny you get, Drey. I say that, but you keep punching.
- 3:34Speaker 2: All right. We might.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Never say never, but let me actually get to this
- 3:41Speaker 1: stupid story. A luxury bathwear brand in Japan is working
- 3:46Speaker 1: on a new human Sorry now I need to do
- 3:49Speaker 1: it myself, a new human washing machine to replace bathtubs.
- 3:55Speaker 1: In English. The name literally translates to human washing of
- 4:00Speaker 1: the future. It's based on a design someone came up
- 4:04Speaker 1: with over a half century ago. An early version debuted
- 4:08Speaker 1: at an expo in Japan in nineteen seventy, but this
- 4:13Speaker 1: one's more high tech. Are we just imagining this expo?
- 4:15Speaker 1: It's just a chicken address and this guy's trying to
- 4:18Speaker 1: sell it like he's Tony Stark, Like, nah, man, you're
- 4:20Speaker 1: not fooling us. The device itself looks like the cockpit
- 4:26Speaker 1: of a fighter jet and fills with water, so it's
- 4:29Speaker 1: like an enclosed tub. Oh hell no, uh huh. You
- 4:33Speaker 1: were not getting me into a capsule that fills with
- 4:37Speaker 1: water and calling it a cleaning device. No, they haven't
- 4:44Speaker 1: really revealed a ton of other details, but apparently it
- 4:47Speaker 1: uses microscopic bubbles to blast the filth off of you.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Oh good, it's an encapsulated power washer that you can't
- 4:54Speaker 1: get out of. Meanwhile, artificial intelligence tracks your vitals to
- 4:58Speaker 1: make sure you're comfortable. Water tripperture is just right. Oh good,
- 5:04Speaker 1: So now the machine knows where my threshold is and
- 5:07Speaker 1: can mess with me.
- 5:10Speaker 2: That's not at all what I I You know, thing
- 5:14Speaker 2: that was from Japan. I was just thinking a robotic
- 5:17Speaker 2: geisha with a good grip.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I think that was more of a hope on your part,
- 5:29Speaker 1: Tray than in reality. This machine will supposedly also dry
- 5:36Speaker 1: you off, and the whole process takes about fifteen minutes,
- 5:40Speaker 1: So it's faster than a nice soothe than a nice
- 5:43Speaker 1: soothing bath, but it would still be quicker to just
- 5:46Speaker 1: take a quick shower. They're unveiling the prototype at a
- 5:48Speaker 1: conference in April, with plans to eventually sell them. No
- 5:51Speaker 1: word on how much they might cost, while also keeping
- 5:55Speaker 1: in mind you could just walk through a car wash
- 5:58Speaker 1: with a with a snorkel tube who still takes baths.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I have not taken a bath in years, So I'm
- 6:10Speaker 1: with you, Katie takes him. Oh yeah, women, do I
- 6:13Speaker 1: think train's talking about men?
- 6:14Speaker 2: Well? Just I mean, it's one thing, you know, But
- 6:18Speaker 2: the idea that you're getting clean by sitting in your
- 6:20Speaker 2: own funk, that's always puzzled.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Me, puzzles everybody. But it's we've been sold that it's
- 6:28Speaker 1: relaxing and that it's good for you, and.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Well it's it's a cooozy tub all that. Yeah, it's
- 6:33Speaker 2: very nice and relaxing, but I don't I'm still if
- 6:36Speaker 2: I were going to do that, I'm still going to
- 6:37Speaker 2: take a shower to actually get clean.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Yeah, because you are soaking in there, not just in
- 6:43Speaker 1: the dirty bath water, but it's also your dirty butt water.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I get it.
- 6:48Speaker 1: You're you're protected by the soap? Are you the lies
- 6:54Speaker 1: we tell ourselves? It's kind of like for a germophobe,
- 7:02Speaker 1: it's got to be one of the worst things ever
- 7:04Speaker 1: when your significant others already in the tub and say, hey,
- 7:06Speaker 1: you want to get in with me, and you're like,
- 7:08Speaker 1: oh no, you're disgusting bathwater. But that's why. One of
- 7:13Speaker 1: the sickest things I still ever heard as far as
- 7:15Speaker 1: a pickup line is a dude telling you, chick, I
- 7:18Speaker 1: would drink your bath water. Mhm. That being said, I
- 7:26Speaker 1: do look forward to someday when I'm in a nursing
- 7:28Speaker 1: home and I get the spongebad. That's different.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Or in the tree visit us online a tree house

- 8:23Speaker 1: inside the treehouse. And we are back inside the treehouse.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I'm Dan along with Trey and Jerry. What's the movie
- 8:32Speaker 1: you guys were talking about in the break? I've this
- 8:34Speaker 1: does not sound familiar to me. I was too busy
- 8:36Speaker 1: watching really bad films to hear about this apparently good one.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Silkwood the movie.
- 8:42Speaker 2: It was Meryl Street. Yeah, an actual I want to
- 8:47Speaker 2: say it was an Academy Award winning film from the eighties,
- 8:51Speaker 2: at least I think it was nominated. Women that worked
- 8:54Speaker 2: in a nuclear reactor, nuclear facility and if there was
- 9:00Speaker 2: a leak, the decontamination process was you were stuck in
- 9:05Speaker 2: a room that was obviously had the shower heads, but
- 9:10Speaker 2: then these metal brush like steel wool brushes would scrub you.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Uh.
- 9:17Speaker 2: It's a brutal scene that I have. It's one of
- 9:19Speaker 2: those things I still remember.
- 9:21Speaker 1: So it's with them like basically naked getting brushed by
- 9:24Speaker 1: steel steel wool because of radiation.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's one at a time.
- 9:28Speaker 5: But yeah, they were they were like on brooms. They
- 9:31Speaker 5: had long wooden handle, so that everybody could stay out
- 9:34Speaker 5: of range, and everybody's in has mat suits except for
- 9:36Speaker 5: the naked person being showered. And okay, I mean you
- 9:40Speaker 5: know it's Meryl Streep naked and they're just they're really
- 9:42Speaker 5: rooting a good time there.
- 9:43Speaker 1: It's just, Yeah, I've not seen that movie, but I'm
- 9:46Speaker 1: pretty sure I saw the Skinemac Chain Heat four version
- 9:49Speaker 1: of it. At one point. I enjoyed mine. They made
- 9:54Speaker 1: They made radiation cleaning look like fun m hmm. I
- 9:58Speaker 1: think that's why the chains were a lot. Uh, speaking
- 10:07Speaker 1: of long broom type things, Trey your single, So I
- 10:11Speaker 1: don't know if you've if you've seen this with any
- 10:14Speaker 1: of your past relationships, and if you've seen Daisy Year
- 10:19Speaker 1: TWELVEA doing it, God bless her. Uh, Jerry, you live
- 10:21Speaker 1: with your girlfriend Katie, So I'm wondering maybe if if
- 10:23Speaker 1: this is gonna apply to you. So the other day
- 10:27Speaker 1: I was I was at home, sitting in the office.
- 10:30Speaker 1: I was doing some works and doing some recordings. The
- 10:32Speaker 1: door was closed and I opened the door, come out
- 10:36Speaker 1: and head towards the kitchen, and and that's when I
- 10:39Speaker 1: see my wife doing something that I've never seen before.
- 10:43Speaker 1: She had the long nozzle attachment of the vacuum cleaner,
- 10:48Speaker 1: and she was vacuuming the knobs around the cook top
- 10:53Speaker 1: range in our kitchen m hm. And our eyes met,
- 11:03Speaker 1: and I walked back into the office and closed the
- 11:05Speaker 1: door and tried to pretend that I didn't see anything
- 11:08Speaker 1: because I know, And this is where I need your help, guys.
- 11:12Speaker 1: This is because I know that if I stayed and
- 11:15Speaker 1: maintained eye contact for more than three seconds, I was
- 11:19Speaker 1: going to be tasked with doing something similar, and I
- 11:22Speaker 1: wanted know part of that detailed cleaning process. So have you, guys,
- 11:29Speaker 1: ever walked in on your significant other cleaning something so
- 11:33Speaker 1: weird you walked away and hoped that she'd forget the
- 11:35Speaker 1: whole thing and would forget having seen you at all. Uh,
- 11:46Speaker 1: Because let me be clear, I appreciate the effort wholeheartedly.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I mean, when you absolutely positively want your kitchen cleaned,
- 11:57Speaker 1: then my wife apparently knows how to do it and
- 12:00Speaker 1: was busting out the long nozzle vacuum and sucking up
- 12:02Speaker 1: the knobs, which sounds bad as I say it out loud.
- 12:07Speaker 2: I never witnessed anything that was you know, maybe turn
- 12:10Speaker 2: around and walk away. I mean, I lived with someone
- 12:13Speaker 2: who was quite anal about cleaning. I mean one of
- 12:17Speaker 2: the things like she would disassemble the vacuum cleaner weekly
- 12:23Speaker 2: to clean it.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Wow, that's actually a very good idea. It's probably healthy. Yeah,
- 12:32Speaker 1: with someone that OCD, though, Trey, Uh, if she was
- 12:36Speaker 1: that OCD, does that mean she didn't want your help
- 12:38Speaker 1: because you wouldn't do it properly? Yes, you lucky bastard.
- 12:44Speaker 2: There was nothing I would if I vacuumed, I didn't
- 12:48Speaker 2: do it slow enough or whatever. Yeah. No, she also
- 12:51Speaker 2: ironed underwear too. Wow.
- 12:57Speaker 1: That that's a that's a level that I don't understand.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:04Speaker 1: I didn't either, but but that's that was your moment.
- 13:09Speaker 1: For me, it was walking out, walking into the kitchen
- 13:12Speaker 1: seeing my wife vacuuming the stovetop range, and I thought,
- 13:17Speaker 1: I don't want any part of this. I'm going to disappear.
- 13:21Speaker 1: It was probably the same for you when you walked
- 13:23Speaker 1: into the room and saw your ex ironing underwear. You
- 13:26Speaker 1: were like, oh, I'm out.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I I well, it was one of those moments
- 13:31Speaker 2: where you normally you're like, what are you doing? And
- 13:35Speaker 2: I didn't. I did not ask because I did not
- 13:38Speaker 2: want an explanation because it was I was like, yeah,
- 13:43Speaker 2: whatever floats your boat.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Sweetie, it's like walking up It's like it's like being
- 13:47Speaker 1: on a hike in the woods and stumbling upon a bear.
- 13:52Speaker 1: It's best to just slowly back away and and just
- 13:57Speaker 1: hope it doesn't follow you.
- 14:00Speaker 5: For me, it's when a storage cavity would place whatever
- 14:06Speaker 5: in the apartment is being rearranged.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I think that. I think that's happening today
- 14:14Speaker 1: at at my house because we have like the storage
- 14:17Speaker 1: room slash laundry room, and I and I remember putting
- 14:21Speaker 1: something in there this morning and my wife gleefully saying,
- 14:26Speaker 1: this is gonna look completely different when you see it next.
- 14:29Speaker 5: Yes, chills down my spine. I'd be glad I was
- 14:34Speaker 5: going to work. And it's like we have essentially the
- 14:38Speaker 5: same stuff. You know, maybe there's one or two things
- 14:41Speaker 5: that are new, But how come this organization is better
- 14:48Speaker 5: than the last one, which was also better than the one.
- 14:53Speaker 5: I mean, it does not just three learning cabinets.
- 14:57Speaker 1: That's exactly what it is. It's not going to make
- 15:00Speaker 1: sense to you. As long as it makes sense to her,
- 15:04Speaker 1: and as long as she gives you a reorientation quarterly,
- 15:09Speaker 1: then things are going to be okay. For the most part,
- 15:11Speaker 1: unless you're me, and which case you forget the reorientation
- 15:14Speaker 1: and you're still looking for a fork from across where
- 15:17Speaker 1: it used to be and you're just lost inside your
- 15:20Speaker 1: own home.
- 15:21Speaker 2: But you probably remember the lines from Police Academy five.
- 15:25Speaker 1: When they went to Miami High Tower fought a gator
- 15:34Speaker 1: co starred Wayne Gretzky's wife.
- 15:40Speaker 2: It's a miracle you're still married.
- 15:46Speaker 1: That is really, really true.
- 15:50Speaker 6: You there. Visit us online that Treehouse on Air dot com.
- 15:57Speaker 1: It really is. That's when they went to the police
- 15:59Speaker 1: conferences in Miami.
- 16:19Speaker 4: You're in the treehouse.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Visit us online at Treehouseonair dot com.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Be sure to check out all things Treehouse at Treehouse
- 16:30Speaker 1: on air dot com, and give us a follow on
- 16:33Speaker 1: social media. Across all social media platforms, you can find
- 16:36Speaker 1: the Treehouse at Treehouse on Air. That's at Treehouse on Air.
- 16:41Speaker 1: And I'm thinking about starting up a new game and
- 16:44Speaker 1: that's called and Trey had this idea. It's very good,
- 16:47Speaker 1: very solid. I like the idea, very interactive for you.
- 16:50Speaker 2: The listener.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Where in the world is Raj Sharma. We believe he's
- 16:54Speaker 1: somewhere in Texas. We're not saying he's missing, but he's
- 17:02Speaker 1: not here inside the treehouse. So consider this a brown
- 17:06Speaker 1: alert from inside the treehouse requesting to find Raj Sharma,
- 17:12Speaker 1: who's about six to one, one hundred and ninety pounds,
- 17:15Speaker 1: forty nine years old, usually surrounded by laughter and jamison.
- 17:22Speaker 1: So if you if you see a man who matches
- 17:24Speaker 1: that description roaming around Texas, probably somewhere in the I
- 17:29Speaker 1: thirty five corridor, and he doesn't look like he's being
- 17:35Speaker 1: held up by border patrol, that's probably him. So if
- 17:38Speaker 1: you could just let us know where he is and
- 17:40Speaker 1: give him a snack too, because he's probably gonna be hungry.
- 17:43Speaker 7: And if he's on an airplane, it's okay, yeah, it is.
- 17:47Speaker 7: He's not gonna do anything wrong, it's it's fine. He
- 17:49Speaker 7: wants to get he wants to get where he's going
- 17:51Speaker 7: as well. So where in the world is Rosh Sharma.
- 17:56Speaker 1: New from inside the tree it's a brown alert, which
- 18:00Speaker 1: if he was here, he would laugh at other stuff
- 18:03Speaker 1: going on inside the treehouse today, very important things such
- 18:07Speaker 1: as Trey. You mentioned Steve Guttenberg and police Academy because
- 18:12Speaker 1: you mentioned Police Academy five. And when you mentioned Police
- 18:16Speaker 1: Academy five, were you surprised that I knew that that's
- 18:18Speaker 1: the one where they went to Miami.
- 18:22Speaker 2: I was, I was really searching for just a really
- 18:25Speaker 2: eighties esoteric reference, And yeah, I have to even had
- 18:29Speaker 2: I said three, I knew you'd knew the plot, but five,
- 18:32Speaker 2: I thought maybe you'd not. You'd they had died off
- 18:35Speaker 2: by then.
- 18:35Speaker 1: But clearly it's funny that you mentioned five because five
- 18:38Speaker 1: is one of those that when you're talking about the
- 18:41Speaker 1: fifth Belise Academy movie, and it doesn't even have Steve
- 18:44Speaker 1: Gutenberg in it. And that's the one that I've probably
- 18:48Speaker 1: seen the second most of all the Police Academy movies.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I don't know why. It just is that it says
- 18:57Speaker 1: a lot about my not necessarily taste, but just things
- 19:03Speaker 1: that I've seen because it's not it's not a great movie.
- 19:05Speaker 1: It's not a good movie.
- 19:06Speaker 2: It's bad.
- 19:06Speaker 1: It's terrible. But you're right, it's it's Police Academy five Assignment,
- 19:13Speaker 1: Miami Beach. And they got a knockoff Gutenberg in there,
- 19:17Speaker 1: but all the other cast was in there. Michael Winslow,
- 19:19Speaker 1: High Tower, like I said, fights a gator. They go
- 19:22Speaker 1: to the police conference in Miami, and yeah, it's police
- 19:26Speaker 1: Academy five.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Yeah, because the rest of the cast that they really
- 19:30Speaker 2: they kind of peaked with police academies and Gutenberg at
- 19:33Speaker 2: least had some other better roles.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Mm hmmm. Yes, he was in Lava Lancelo. That was
- 19:40Speaker 1: the the sci fi film from a handful of years ago. Wow. Yeah,
- 19:52Speaker 1: I love it in here. My weirdness is rewarded. H
- 20:00Speaker 1: And this is technically work for us, so it really
- 20:03Speaker 1: really works out for my benefit and hopefully for yours
- 20:06Speaker 1: as well. But speaking of things that you do at work,
- 20:09Speaker 1: there are some things that people say you are not
- 20:10Speaker 1: supposed to do at work, and they're very, very very
- 20:14Speaker 1: taboo things. A Harris poll asked one thousand Americans to
- 20:17Speaker 1: name the top workplace taboos. So these are things you
- 20:21Speaker 1: should never do at work? All right, you're ready for
- 20:25Speaker 1: the top five? Yes, all right. Gossiping about a colleague,
- 20:32Speaker 1: you are definitely not supposed to do that. But I
- 20:35Speaker 1: have to ask, have you guys gossiped about a colleague?
- 20:41Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 20:42Speaker 1: First, yeah, absolutely answer that. Yeah, of course we have.
- 20:44Speaker 1: We've all done that. We work in radio. Well, I
- 20:47Speaker 1: think I did that this morning. I did it about
- 20:51Speaker 1: a minute and a half ago, saying where's Raj so three
- 20:56Speaker 1: things for us. We've all gossiped at work. We're guilty
- 20:59Speaker 1: of that. Number four of the workplace taboos. These are
- 21:02Speaker 1: things you're not supposed to do at work, dating a
- 21:05Speaker 1: manager or anybody above you. I have not done that, Trey.
- 21:12Speaker 2: I have dated someone above me, yes, and a boy
- 21:16Speaker 2: who uh no, h is it?
- 21:23Speaker 5: Is it?
- 21:23Speaker 1: Somebody I know?
- 21:25Speaker 4: Maybe?
- 21:27Speaker 2: Uh? But uh? But I have never. I have never
- 21:31Speaker 2: dated anyone below me.
- 21:34Speaker 1: So you snob, well.
- 21:39Speaker 2: You know in corporate, but you know, especially in the
- 21:42Speaker 2: restaurant bar business, that happens a lot, and it doesn't
- 21:46Speaker 2: play out well.
- 21:46Speaker 1: And I've never seen it play out well in any industry.
- 21:50Speaker 1: That's why I've told people throughout my career, even when
- 21:54Speaker 1: I was young, I knew not to do that, and
- 21:56Speaker 1: I didn't, and I'm proud to say that I haven't.
- 22:00Speaker 1: So not only no one below, no one above, no
- 22:02Speaker 1: one to the side. I have laterally you have laterally, yeah,
- 22:09Speaker 1: anybody I know.
- 22:10Speaker 2: No, it's no fun.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Let's go back to you Tree. What I almost asked,
- 22:19Speaker 1: who do you date? But then I have to go
- 22:20Speaker 1: back to when we were at one O five three

- 22:25Speaker 1: probably four or five in there, but that's it, I am.
- 22:31Speaker 1: That would be lateral, that wouldn't be above you. Cour
- 22:34Speaker 1: tell me. Tell me about the candlelight dinner with you
- 22:36Speaker 1: and Pittman. Did he did he fly you in on
- 22:42Speaker 1: his jet? Did he let you sit in his lap
- 22:45Speaker 1: while he flew? Did he ask you if you like
- 22:49Speaker 1: Gladiator movies?

- 24:01Speaker 1: on Air. Thank you very much. We are back inside
- 24:06Speaker 1: the tree House now. I'm Dan, along with Trey and
- 24:09Speaker 1: Jerry called well, we actually didn't finish the things you're
- 24:15Speaker 1: not supposed to do at work. According to one thousand people.
- 24:19Speaker 1: We were all guilty of gossiping about a colleague. We've
- 24:22Speaker 1: all done that. Number four was dating a manager or
- 24:24Speaker 1: someone above you. Tray says he's done that. Jerry says
- 24:27Speaker 1: he's only done Latterally, I've done none of that because
- 24:31Speaker 1: workplace romance is a really bad idea, and that's where
- 24:36Speaker 1: that's where we ran out of steam. We're not ran
- 24:37Speaker 1: out of steam. It's actually where we found out. That's
- 24:39Speaker 1: when Trey and I heard CEO Bob Pittman had their.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Rendezvous.
- 24:47Speaker 1: I'm just glad to see that he's using that plane
- 24:49Speaker 1: for something more than just iHeart festivals. But there are
- 24:52Speaker 1: three more things that we have not touched on yet,
- 24:55Speaker 1: as far as the things you're not supposed to do
- 24:57Speaker 1: at work, and those are making any amount of alcohol.
- 25:03Speaker 1: All three of us have absolutely done that without a doubt.
- 25:09Speaker 1: People say you're not supposed to, but all three of
- 25:13Speaker 1: us have definitely done that. I'm not saying we've done
- 25:15Speaker 1: it today. I'm just saying that we've done it. Kind
- 25:18Speaker 1: of a requirement, We've done a lot of it. Jerry's right,
- 25:21Speaker 1: it's kind of a requirement in our line of work
- 25:24Speaker 1: unless you're trade in which case, you've drink so much
- 25:26Speaker 1: at work that you're full and you've stopped. Yes, which
- 25:29Speaker 1: is a hell of a feat. Number two, using drugs
- 25:33Speaker 1: at work? Wait have I? Oh, I did salvia a
- 25:45Speaker 1: couple of times, So does that count as a drug?
- 25:49Speaker 1: As a plant? Well, I think what's that tray?
- 25:55Speaker 2: So is weed? So yeah?
- 25:57Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, yeah I did drugs at work. Then again,
- 26:01Speaker 1: if you work in radio, you probably have.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Trey.
- 26:06Speaker 1: You're not really a big drug guy, so I don't
- 26:07Speaker 1: know if you've done that, we're chripching drugs. Yeah, but
- 26:11Speaker 1: what about you, Jerry?
- 26:13Speaker 5: You know, I avoided it because I was like, this
- 26:16Speaker 5: is not a good idea. But I did at one
- 26:20Speaker 5: point on a lunch break because I lived close to
- 26:23Speaker 5: where I worked, went home and had lunch and smoked
- 26:29Speaker 5: a bowl before I went back to work, and I
- 26:32Speaker 5: was like, this is fine. I'm just gonna be alphabetizing
- 26:34Speaker 5: things for the next four hours.
- 26:36Speaker 1: It'll be fine.
- 26:37Speaker 5: And I went and I got a bunch of stuff
- 26:39Speaker 5: and I came out and I did it, and I'm like,
- 26:41Speaker 5: all right, you know, I've been out here probably forty
- 26:43Speaker 5: five minutes, almost hour. I looked at my watch, it'd
- 26:45Speaker 5: have been like seven and a half minutes. I was like,
- 26:46Speaker 5: oh my god, I'm never doing this again.
- 26:49Speaker 1: No, it was absolute torture. So that's two out of
- 26:52Speaker 1: three of us have done drugs at work and number
- 26:54Speaker 1: one of the things you were absolutely positively not supposed
- 26:57Speaker 1: to do at work. That's getting drug during work hours,
- 27:01Speaker 1: which is apparently worse than just drinking at all at work.
- 27:06Speaker 1: We've all three absolutely gotten drunk at work. I don't
- 27:08Speaker 1: even need to ask you, Trey or Eugerry.
- 27:10Speaker 4: I know the answer.
- 27:13Speaker 5: And again I'm not saying we are now, but we're
- 27:17Speaker 5: also not saying that we're not exactly correct.
- 27:25Speaker 2: All right.
- 27:25Speaker 1: I'm not sure if you guys are prepared to see
- 27:27Speaker 1: when I'm about to show you, but I'm going to
- 27:29Speaker 1: show you anyway. Is this the scariest Christmas parade you
- 27:40Speaker 1: have ever seen? Is this? So if you're just listening
- 27:59Speaker 1: and not watch this show, which you can do on
- 28:01Speaker 1: Patreon dot com, slash Treehouse on air plug for the
- 28:05Speaker 1: subscription channel. It's a snowy mountain village in Austria. And
- 28:13Speaker 1: instead of it being like an AI generated video of
- 28:17Speaker 1: places you need to visit on Instagram, instead it's demonic
- 28:22Speaker 1: looking crampuses walking down the street banging on metal drums,
- 28:26Speaker 1: and a dude who's I guess is sort of like
- 28:28Speaker 1: the band leader of the Crampus March, but instead of
- 28:32Speaker 1: a twirling staff, it's a staff that's large, made of
- 28:36Speaker 1: wood and on fire. And the crampuses that are in
- 28:40Speaker 1: line behind them are an intricate handmade suits made of
- 28:47Speaker 1: various animal firs, horrific looking masks on their faces, and
- 28:52Speaker 1: long horns, all of which, of course symbolize the joy
- 28:56Speaker 1: of Christmas.
- 28:57Speaker 2: I'm going to tell you what it looks like, and
- 29:01Speaker 2: this is gonna, This is gonna. I don't know, Dan,
- 29:05Speaker 2: this movie was somewhat popular, so you may not have
- 29:06Speaker 2: seen it, but uh Ester movies, this looks like something
- 29:13Speaker 2: out of the ending scene of the movie Dragnet with
- 29:17Speaker 2: Dan Akroyd and Tom Hanks.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Oh yes, not only have I seen it, I had
- 29:22Speaker 1: the same and thought you did. Because they got the
- 29:26Speaker 1: furry leggings. The Crampus Marchers have the furry leggings like
- 29:32Speaker 1: Dan Ackroyd and Tom Hanks did in the classic Hades
- 29:37Speaker 1: film Dragnet where they do the dance as well. That's
- 29:42Speaker 1: exactly what these look like. They're like like sheep, except
- 29:44Speaker 1: it's brown instead of white on the leggings. So the
- 29:46Speaker 1: costumes on the Crampas is a brown. The leggings on
- 29:48Speaker 1: dragnet were white. You got right, I've seen that movie.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Jerry's right, he said it during a break. Whoever's listening
- 29:56Speaker 2: to this, You know, the younger ones, they are gonna
- 29:58Speaker 2: have a whole list of things they need to go.
- 30:01Speaker 1: And you know what, they should be thankful because we're
- 30:04Speaker 1: giving them a treasure trove of fun. Absolutely. So let's
- 30:09Speaker 1: go back then to the Crampus Parade twenty twenty four
- 30:13Speaker 1: in Austria. And this is apparently a thing every single
- 30:17Speaker 1: year they do. Actually I guess this would be last
- 30:20Speaker 1: year because they haven't done the one this year yet
- 30:22Speaker 1: I don't believe. Because the Crampis Parade in Austria happens
- 30:26Speaker 1: on either, according to my research, December fifth or sixth. Okay,
- 30:36Speaker 1: it is called Crampis lof or Crampus Parade often takes
- 30:41Speaker 1: place on either Saint Nicholas Eve, which is December fifth,
- 30:45Speaker 1: or Saint Nicholas Day, which is December sixth, And that's
- 30:50Speaker 1: apparently what this is. This is the Crampis Parade that
- 30:54Speaker 1: happens every year in Austria. So all these guys are
- 30:57Speaker 1: addressing these elaborate crampus looking costs whoms. They just look
- 31:00Speaker 1: like furry monsters with demon faces, huge antlers, one guy
- 31:05Speaker 1: holding a big torch and the other guys playing metal
- 31:08Speaker 1: drums as they walk down the street in an alp village.
- 31:15Speaker 1: What's that tray?
- 31:16Speaker 2: They look like if an elk banged an e walk.
- 31:22Speaker 1: It's very accurate, and and played metal drums. Here they
- 31:40Speaker 1: are walking on the street banging on a drum. Is it?
- 32:00Speaker 1: Is it just me? Or does it look like they
- 32:02Speaker 1: just got the return to office memo from the CEO?
- 32:07Speaker 4: Right?
- 32:07Speaker 1: And this is them on the commute on the way
- 32:09Speaker 1: back in. All right, I'm gonna come in, but I'm
- 32:13Speaker 1: not gonna be happy about I'm gonna put on my
- 32:15Speaker 1: crampas outfit and bang on my metal drum. Those drums
- 32:18Speaker 1: look like that. They look like cook tops.
- 32:23Speaker 5: That's It's like they went to make actual like steel
- 32:27Speaker 5: drums and then just didn't.
- 32:32Speaker 1: I have some experience with the Caribbean steel pan drums
- 32:35Speaker 1: and they don't sound anything.
- 32:36Speaker 5: Like this, No, not at all, And the guys playing
- 32:40Speaker 5: it look nothing like this either.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Right, Well, the guys playing these they do they they
- 32:45Speaker 2: they're so big. They look like they just couldn't leave
- 32:48Speaker 2: the cook top because they couldn't go with the out
- 32:50Speaker 2: without eating that long and just strapped them to their chest.
- 32:55Speaker 2: But literally they look like they're they're they're five by
- 32:57Speaker 2: five mm.
- 33:01Speaker 1: It's like the opening act for Gore. I'll say, Jerry,
- 33:10Speaker 1: I'd buy tickets to that show or VIP tickets Psilocybin.
- 33:17Speaker 6: You're listening to the Treehouse, Visit us online at treehouseonair
- 33:22Speaker 6: dot com.
- 33:23Speaker 1: That's one mush bit I think twice about.
- 33:25Speaker 4: Though you're in the Treehouse.
- 33:38Speaker 3: Visit us online at Treehouse air dot com.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Be sure to follow us on social media the handles

- 33:52Speaker 1: at Treehouse on Air. Give us a follow on social media.
- 33:55Speaker 1: I think you'll be glad you did. Back inside the
- 33:58Speaker 1: Treehouse now, I'm Daniel Malley along with you trend home
- 34:00Speaker 1: and Jerry called well, and I'm a little fascinated by
- 34:04Speaker 1: the Crampus, not just the creature itself and its origins,
- 34:11Speaker 1: but the video that we just watched of the Crampis
- 34:14Speaker 1: parade from from years ago or last year whatever, it
- 34:19Speaker 1: was because the next Crampis parade is supposed to happen
- 34:21Speaker 1: in a day or two in Austria. Apparently, the people
- 34:25Speaker 1: that take part in these parades, these costumes are very intricate,
- 34:28Speaker 1: and apparently they're handmade. So this isn't like there's not
- 34:33Speaker 1: like a Crampus store that creeps in somewhere in September
- 34:37Speaker 1: and then they just go there and buy one for
- 34:39Speaker 1: eighty bucks. They're making these things by hand, and they're
- 34:41Speaker 1: really elaborate, and they're terrifying looking. I mean, I can't
- 34:44Speaker 1: imagine children being at this parade. But and I know
- 34:48Speaker 1: there was a movie called Crampis that came out years ago.
- 34:53Speaker 1: I will admit I have not seen it, but I
- 34:56Speaker 1: also have to say it's been on my list and
- 34:58Speaker 1: for some reason, I just haven't come around to seeing
- 35:03Speaker 1: it yet. I don't know why I want to. I'm
- 35:05Speaker 1: curious about it. I did see was It Violent Night?
- 35:10Speaker 1: A couple? Was that last Christmas or the Christmas before?
- 35:13Speaker 6: That?
- 35:13Speaker 1: Was excellent film. That was the one with Chief Hopper
- 35:16Speaker 1: from Stranger Things plays a Valhalla Santa Claus. Excellent, excellent
- 35:25Speaker 1: movie that I've seen. But the Crampist movie I've not.
- 35:28Speaker 1: Do you guys know anything about the Crampus just a
- 35:32Speaker 1: little bit.
- 35:33Speaker 5: I've got some very close friends that are German and
- 35:36Speaker 5: they've told me a little bit about it well.
- 35:39Speaker 1: According to Wikipedia, the Crampis German is a horned anthropomorphic
- 35:45Speaker 1: figure who, in Central and Eastern Alpine folkloric tradition man
- 35:49Speaker 1: There's a lot of hard words to say, is said
- 35:51Speaker 1: to accompany Saint Nicholas on visits to children during the
- 35:54Speaker 1: night of December fifth, Crampus Knocked or Crampus Knight, immediately
- 36:00Speaker 1: before the feast of Saint Nicholas on December sixth. In
- 36:03Speaker 1: this tradition, Saint Nicholas rewards well behaved children with gifts,
- 36:07Speaker 1: while Crampus punishes badly behaved ones with birch rods. Although
- 36:14Speaker 1: bitch rods would be really funny as well, leave it
- 36:18Speaker 1: to the Germans to make Santa scary absolutely. The origin
- 36:24Speaker 1: of the figure is unclear. Some folklorus and anthropologists have
- 36:28Speaker 1: postulated that it may have pre Christian origins. Yeah, it
- 36:31Speaker 1: probably does. In traditional parades and in such events as
- 36:35Speaker 1: the Crampus Run, young men dressed as Crampus attempt to
- 36:39Speaker 1: scare the audience with their antics and Crampus is featured
- 36:42Speaker 1: on holiday greeting cards called Crampus Carton. I just like
- 36:46Speaker 1: the idea of a Crampus run where instead of it's
- 36:48Speaker 1: a running of the bulls and it's people running from
- 36:51Speaker 1: the bulls, I like to think it's children running from
- 36:53Speaker 1: these crampuses with their bitch rods. You better run what
- 37:07Speaker 1: Crampus is going to get you.
- 37:10Speaker 2: Somehow. I just I just feel like that the crampus
- 37:15Speaker 2: prey turns into an all day drinking affair, and then
- 37:17Speaker 2: at night there's a Crampus that's an outfit, looks more like,
- 37:20Speaker 2: you know, like assless chaps.
- 37:25Speaker 4: Yead.
- 37:26Speaker 1: And right before that in Germany he said, watch this.
- 37:28Speaker 5: Yeah, look up to my rod, my mighty mighty bitch rod.
- 37:40Speaker 1: All right, I'm really into the Crampus thing.
- 37:42Speaker 3: Now.
- 37:42Speaker 1: I like how they show up. It's like the good See.
- 37:44Speaker 1: That's one of the things that that didn't make the
- 37:47Speaker 1: leap across the Atlantic. Santa did the Saint Nicholas thing
- 37:52Speaker 1: rewarding well behaved children with gifts.
- 37:55Speaker 2: We didn't get.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Crampus in America. No, just Cole, I think you got
- 38:02Speaker 1: to bring the I think I like the crampis angle
- 38:04Speaker 1: on it. You could really you could really change some
- 38:08Speaker 1: lives of some children. Look, I mean we have heaven
- 38:13Speaker 1: and Hell. Right, we have heaven and Hell. You've got
- 38:17Speaker 1: you've got Jesus and Lucifer. You know, you've got God,
- 38:19Speaker 1: and you've got Satan. You know, in America we have
- 38:23Speaker 1: Santa Claus, but we don't have Crampis, and we I
- 38:25Speaker 1: think there's a room for him. Absolutely. I just can't
- 38:33Speaker 1: wait to see the parade go.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to see this, see the inflatable that
- 38:39Speaker 2: goes with Macy's, especially if it's assless.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Chats The New York City Crampis Parade, brought to you
- 38:52Speaker 1: by Jaegermeister.

- 39:37Speaker 1: message inside the treehouse. You can talk back to us
- 39:41Speaker 1: right here inside the Treehouse at Treehouse on air dot com.
- 39:45Speaker 1: The little microphone or the lower right hand corner allows
- 39:47Speaker 1: you to do that. Back inside the treehouse now, I'm
- 39:50Speaker 1: Daniel Malling, along with Trey Trendholme and Jerry called well,
- 39:54Speaker 1: now that we know a little more about Crampus and
- 39:56Speaker 1: how awesome of a figure he is or she, I'm
- 39:59Speaker 1: not sure if it's their female. I didn't look between
- 40:02Speaker 1: the free leggings on that video, and I'm not going
- 40:05Speaker 1: to go to Austria and ask. There is something though
- 40:10Speaker 1: that does loosely tie into Crampis I think, I think
- 40:15Speaker 1: and that is not another teen tanter? Do you guys
- 40:22Speaker 1: know what it sounds like when a teenager gets their
- 40:26Speaker 1: cell phone plan canceled at an AT and T store.
- 40:30Speaker 1: M oh my, yeah, you're about to find out a
- 40:37Speaker 1: raise play that for you again. This is this is
- 40:47Speaker 1: just the portion I can play because the rest of
- 40:49Speaker 1: it is eglative field mamrase. I mean this this girl
- 40:59Speaker 1: is like thirteen, maybe maybe fourteen. Mama's in there at
- 41:04Speaker 1: the AT and T store canceling the plan, canceling the phone,
- 41:07Speaker 1: and this kid is losing her God mind.
- 41:12Speaker 2: I mean, I would imagine if you were you know,
- 41:16Speaker 2: I'm sure there's a recording somewhere if someone getting sentenced
- 41:18Speaker 2: to the death penalty that would sound similar to this.
- 41:22Speaker 1: I've also seen people get sentenced to the death penalty
- 41:25Speaker 1: who took it better than this. Right exactly right in there,
- 41:36Speaker 1: you can kind of hear Mama say shut your ass up.
- 41:38Speaker 1: And then after that at this little clip, right after
- 41:41Speaker 1: the part that ends, I can't air the rest of
- 41:43Speaker 1: it because that's when Mama tells her to shut it up.
- 41:47Speaker 5: Sounds so yes, Jerry starts out sounding like a demonic
- 41:57Speaker 5: possession and then moves into like a jaguar roar.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Let's endalyze, mom. Now, so this is her as a teenager.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Imagine her in ten, fifteen, twenty years. I think I
- 42:27Speaker 1: think she just rocketed to the top of the crampis list.
- 42:35Speaker 1: I'd like I'd like to I'd like to see that movie, please.
- 42:40Speaker 1: I'm sure her mother would like to see that movie.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Something tells me if this kid was brought up with
- 42:46Speaker 1: believing in Crampus, she wouldn't be having a teen tantrum
- 42:49Speaker 1: like that in the cell phone store.
- 42:52Speaker 2: If I had ever done something like that, I mean,
- 42:57Speaker 2: you would hear of the screams of anger then followed
- 43:01Speaker 2: by just the wails of pain.
- 43:05Speaker 1: If you ever did anything that sounded like this, Tray,
- 43:08Speaker 1: it would be the last sound your body ever produced.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Uh huh, because your dad would have snuffed it out.
- 43:14Speaker 1: M Maybe that's what it was. We didn't need crampis.
- 43:19Speaker 1: We just had belts, yes, And in Tray's case, it
- 43:25Speaker 1: was just actually named belt. It was a belt with
- 43:27Speaker 1: the name belt on it that his dad used. God,
- 43:31Speaker 1: just imagine if imagine if one of our parents brought
- 43:34Speaker 1: out a belt that said crampus on it. You wear
- 43:39Speaker 1: the mask antlers and start doing the will stop there?
- 43:43Speaker 1: All right? Thanks to hanging out with us inside the
