- 3:55Speaker 1: in England. On November tenth, nineteen eighty nine, I performed
- 4:01Speaker 1: with local youth theaters and graduated from the Royal Academy
- 4:04Speaker 1: of Dramatic Art. I was the voice of a piano
- 4:07Speaker 1: playing Gorilla and also starred as a famous singer songwriter

- 4:26Speaker 1: it was announced that the local hospital and its clinics

- 4:34Speaker 1: out to recipients of Wellcare stating that Kentucky River Medical
- 4:38Speaker 1: Center is no longer recognized as an in network provider.
- 4:43Speaker 1: With nearly half of the Breathitt County population receiving Medicaid,
- 4:47Speaker 1: the move has affected thousands of local people. The hospital

- 4:55Speaker 1: can take to have coverage to be seen locally. An
- 4:59Speaker 1: important update for patients with Wellcare. You may have received

- 5:16Speaker 1: to assure you we are working diligently to reach an
- 5:20Speaker 1: agreement with Wellcare and remain in network. You can continue
- 5:24Speaker 1: to receive care at KRMC in associated clinics as you

- 5:33Speaker 1: is not ideal for managing a chronic condition, recovering from surgery,
- 5:38Speaker 1: or caring for a family member. Keeping care available close

- 5:46Speaker 1: appointments as scheduled. If anything changes, you'll hear it from
- 5:49Speaker 1: us directly. If the Medicare portion of the plan ends
- 5:53Speaker 1: on September fifteenth, Medicare patients can change plans using open enrollment,

- 11:03Speaker 1: from being available. We are grateful to kind friends who
- 11:06Speaker 1: filled in the gaps. Thank you to Dad's neighbors on
- 11:10Speaker 1: the Ridge for faithfully visiting and checking on him. Barry
- 11:14Speaker 1: Combs and David Wright gave Dad enormous relief by providing
- 11:19Speaker 1: long care threat the years when it became challenging for
- 11:22Speaker 1: Dad to do it himself. Along with the above, God
- 11:26Speaker 1: bless all who honored our Dad by coming to his
- 11:28Speaker 1: visitation and memorial service. Dad's heart would have been deeply
- 11:32Speaker 1: touched by the friends who came, including the incredible men
- 11:35Speaker 1: who stood as honorary pallbingers. He loved you all so
- 11:39Speaker 1: much and his grateful family will never forget you. Just
- 11:43Speaker 1: move on to the Advocate columnist and first step, So
- 11:47Speaker 1: be it by Pastor Naomi. God waits, God waits to
- 11:52Speaker 1: be wanted. The man who would truly know God must
- 11:55Speaker 1: give time to him quote A w Tozer. What comes
- 12:00Speaker 1: into our mind when we think about God is the
- 12:03Speaker 1: most important thing about us. The true Christian ideal is
- 12:07Speaker 1: not to be happy, but to be holy. The Holy
- 12:10Speaker 1: Spirit never enters a person and lets them live like
- 12:13Speaker 1: the world. You can be sure of that the Lord
- 12:16Speaker 1: Jesus Christ is enough. I don't want to water down
- 12:20Speaker 1: Christianity if you do not worship God seven days a week.
- 12:23Speaker 1: You do not worship Him on one day a week.
- 12:26Speaker 1: To desire revival and at the same time, to neglect
- 12:29Speaker 1: prayer and devotion is to wish one way and walk another.
- 12:34Speaker 1: People who are crucified with Christ have three distinct marks.
- 12:37Speaker 1: They can never turn back. They no longer have plans
- 12:40Speaker 1: of their own. Modern religion focuses upon filling churches with people.
- 12:46Speaker 1: The true Gospel emphasizes filling people with God. The enemy
- 12:50Speaker 1: doesn't have to destroy your future. If he can distract
- 12:53Speaker 1: you from your present, he will convince you to compare
- 12:56Speaker 1: your life, chase someone else's calling, or keep waiting for
- 12:59Speaker 1: a better oper oportunity while the one God has already
- 13:02Speaker 1: placed in front of you goes unnoticed. But purpose isn't found.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Someday it grows in the ground beneath your feet. Today,
- 13:10Speaker 1: the conversation you are about to have, the person standing
- 13:13Speaker 1: in front of you, the work in your hands, and
- 13:16Speaker 1: the opportunity in this moment may be the very assignment
- 13:19Speaker 1: God has entrusted to you. Stop waiting for a different
- 13:23Speaker 1: season to become faithful. Before you ever achieved anything, God
- 13:29Speaker 1: chose you, before you ever provided anything. He called you.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Your identity is not built on outcomes, applause, or progress.
- 13:38Speaker 1: It is anchored in who He says you are. You
- 13:41Speaker 1: are loved without condition. You are called with intention. You
- 13:45Speaker 1: are equipped for this moment. You don't have to have
- 13:48Speaker 1: everything figured out. You just take the next step in obedience.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Even in the silence, he is working, Even in the waiting,
- 13:56Speaker 1: he is preparing. Even in the pressure, He is forming
- 14:00Speaker 1: something in you that could not be built any other way.
- 14:03Speaker 1: You are going to make it. God is faithful. Sometimes
- 14:07Speaker 1: you are so focused on where you're going that you
- 14:10Speaker 1: forget where you are. The life you are rushing through
- 14:13Speaker 1: is the life you once prayed for. The opportunities, the growth,
- 14:17Speaker 1: the strength, the relationships, and the doors God has already
- 14:21Speaker 1: opened were once the very things you were asking him for.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Don't become so consumed with tomorrow that you miss the
- 14:28Speaker 1: gift of today. Slow down, thank God for what is
- 14:32Speaker 1: in front of you, and give this moment your full attention.
- 14:36Speaker 1: One day you will look back and realize these were
- 14:38Speaker 1: the days you had been praying would come your miracle
- 14:42Speaker 1: and breakthrough. Are you? Credit Benjamin Lundquist ig Amen So
- 14:49Speaker 1: be it next. Life on the Old Dirt Road by
- 14:54Speaker 1: Bobby Thorpe Cole. In today's world we hear how Cole
- 14:59Speaker 1: keep the lights on. In my years growing up on
- 15:02Speaker 1: the old dirt road, coal did much more. Since coal, oil,
- 15:07Speaker 1: and kerosene originate from decaying plants and other items from
- 15:12Speaker 1: millions of years ago, they're one and the same. When
- 15:15Speaker 1: I was a child, coal oil lamps were used to
- 15:19Speaker 1: light our homes. Coal was used to build fires, and
- 15:23Speaker 1: many times oil was used on wood to keep it
- 15:26Speaker 1: from rotting, and on the road to keep dust down.
- 15:29Speaker 1: I remember many mornings watching Mom and Dad put in
- 15:32Speaker 1: a coal bucket or a five gallon bucket full of
- 15:35Speaker 1: coal and hands full of wood to heat the tar
- 15:39Speaker 1: paper covered house. They would use small pieces of wood
- 15:43Speaker 1: called kindling to start a small fire, then add coal
- 15:46Speaker 1: and wood on top of it. The damper on the
- 15:49Speaker 1: stove near the ashpan would control how much air would
- 15:53Speaker 1: get to the fire, which regulated the temperature. My parents
- 15:57Speaker 1: would also keep a pot of water on the heating
- 15:59Speaker 1: stove to keep the air humidified. I can remember using
- 16:03Speaker 1: the shaker at the bottom of the stove to shake
- 16:05Speaker 1: the ashes into a pan to be removed from the stove.
- 16:09Speaker 1: We would then take them outside and dump them in
- 16:11Speaker 1: the driveway or over on the creek bank. We would
- 16:14Speaker 1: also use coal and wood to start a fire in
- 16:17Speaker 1: the cookstove. Mom would make soup, beans, chicken and dumplings,
- 16:21Speaker 1: and squirrel and dumplings on the heating stove. Our bathwater
- 16:25Speaker 1: would also be heated on the heating stove and poured
- 16:28Speaker 1: into a metal washtub. I can remember Dad and my
- 16:32Speaker 1: uncles bringing home fifty five metal barrels full of used
- 16:36Speaker 1: motor oil and pour it on the road to keep
- 16:38Speaker 1: the dust down when cars and trucks traveled on it.
- 16:42Speaker 1: The oil kept the dust down for weeks. Today, many
- 16:45Speaker 1: still heat the coal furnaces, heating stoves, and kerosene heaters.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I also remember seeing people dig the coal out of
- 16:53Speaker 1: the hill with a pick and a shovel. Not only
- 16:56Speaker 1: did coal play an important role in our lives, it
- 16:59Speaker 1: also provided job from my father as a coal miner.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Cole brings back many memories of life on the old
- 17:05Speaker 1: dirt road. Next from the Councilor's Desk by Randy Cloth
- 17:11Speaker 1: LPCC and CC small steps towards a merry Heart. Let's
- 17:19Speaker 1: continue to look more closely at one important part of
- 17:22Speaker 1: emotional self care. The conversation we have within ourselves and
- 17:27Speaker 1: the actions that we engage. In the past two weeks
- 17:31Speaker 1: have explored helpful healthy self talk and our thoughts. This
- 17:36Speaker 1: week we look at helpful positive actions to deal with
- 17:39Speaker 1: the natural struggles in life with which we deal all
- 17:42Speaker 1: too often. After talking about it, praying about it, writing
- 17:47Speaker 1: about it, in other words, getting it out, then get
- 17:51Speaker 1: involved in helpful positive activities. Getting involved in relaxing activities
- 17:56Speaker 1: such as exercise, going for a walk, standing out up
- 18:00Speaker 1: to stretch, listen to music, care for your pet, read
- 18:04Speaker 1: a good book, write in a journal, eat a healthy snack,
- 18:08Speaker 1: draw a picture, doodle on paper, color a coloring page,
- 18:13Speaker 1: do some cleaning, work on a crossword puzzle, put a
- 18:17Speaker 1: puzzle together, play or learn an instrument, watch a good movie,
- 18:22Speaker 1: send a positive text or note to someone, write a story, poem,
- 18:26Speaker 1: or song. All of these, and of course many others,
- 18:30Speaker 1: can be very relaxing and provide a wonderful distraction. Proverbs
- 18:35Speaker 1: seventeen twenty two says a merry heart does good like medicine,
- 18:40Speaker 1: but a broken spirit dries the bones. Proverbs seventeen twenty two,
- 18:45Speaker 1: New King James version. Engaging enjoyable activities can be helpful
- 18:50Speaker 1: towards developing a merry heart. Explore the internet, books and
- 18:54Speaker 1: magazines for more ideas on fun activities like these. For
- 18:58Speaker 1: that matter, matter many play games and engage in Internet
- 19:02Speaker 1: and smartphone games and activities. The local library would be
- 19:06Speaker 1: a great resource for all this and more. No matter
- 19:09Speaker 1: what challenges you may be facing, keep hoping, praying, believing
- 19:13Speaker 1: and trusting, and never give up. Remember to take care
- 19:17Speaker 1: of yourself. If you or someone you know is experiencing
