- 0:16Speaker 1: Live from the Raising Kine Studio.
- 0:19Speaker 3: It's off the bench.
- 0:33Speaker 4: All right, Welcome back in now number three of o TV.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Here live from the Raising Kine Studio. Very excited for
- 0:38Speaker 4: our next conversation. We're now going to be joined by
- 0:41Speaker 4: New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shuck here on the show.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Tyler Man, we truly appreciate the time. Hope you're doing well.
- 0:48Speaker 5: Appreciate you guys.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Man.
- 0:50Speaker 5: Excited to be here with you.
- 0:51Speaker 4: All right. So we've got a couple of questions off
- 0:53Speaker 4: the top before we get to all the boring football stuff.
- 0:56Speaker 4: And it's kind of just the way the show goes here.
- 0:58Speaker 4: So since you've been drafted, we've been trying to figure
- 1:01Speaker 4: out which tagline kind of that we want to throw
- 1:05Speaker 4: to your name. And we've got a couple of options
- 1:07Speaker 4: and I want you to choose the best one. Okay,
- 1:10Speaker 4: So we've got Shuck, if you buck, We've got if
- 1:14Speaker 4: you don't give a damn, we don't give a shuck.
- 1:16Speaker 4: We've also got get shucked up, get shucked up. So
- 1:19Speaker 4: of those three options, which one should we go with?
- 1:23Speaker 4: For Tyler shuck man?
- 1:25Speaker 5: What was that third one?
- 1:26Speaker 4: You broke up a little bit, get shucked up, get
- 1:28Speaker 4: shucked up?
- 1:30Speaker 3: Okay, or you could choose your own real you.
- 1:33Speaker 4: Could choose you. I just feel like, you know, that's
- 1:34Speaker 4: the three that we've been trying to, uh, you know,
- 1:37Speaker 4: throw out there and see which one sticks.
- 1:39Speaker 5: I think, I think I think around and find out
- 1:43Speaker 5: that I liked that, and I like the second one.
- 1:48Speaker 4: You buck. Oh yeah, shuck if you buck? Okay, all right,
- 1:51Speaker 4: that's uh, that's the laundra So that one wins. All right,
- 1:54Speaker 4: well done, well.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Done, Tyler. What's up? Man?
- 1:56Speaker 6: Smack Flan. We like me and Jake like to ask
- 1:59Speaker 6: kind of the young bucks. A lot of question here.
- 2:01Speaker 6: This one specific question to get a vibe check from
- 2:04Speaker 6: you on your football movie knowledge, and we want to
- 2:07Speaker 6: know have you ever seen the movie Varsity Blues?
- 2:12Speaker 5: Varsity Blues? Oh my gosh, I haven't seen that movie
- 2:16Speaker 5: since that was probably I don't know, middle school, so
- 2:20Speaker 5: I couldn't.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Give you anything, but.
- 2:23Speaker 5: I've seen it. Yeah, all right, I'm not like I'm
- 2:26Speaker 5: not like, I'm not like a remember that I couldn't
- 2:30Speaker 5: quote the whole thing. Okay, I don't fucking like, don't
- 2:32Speaker 5: don't quote me on anything right now. As far as like, hey,
- 2:36Speaker 5: what's what did the what did this guy say?
- 2:39Speaker 4: No? No, no, you've seen it.
- 2:40Speaker 3: That's all that win.
- 2:43Speaker 5: I just remember the guy the cowboy hat in the
- 2:46Speaker 5: in the cutoff t it's like a small Texas town.
- 2:50Speaker 5: That's the majority of the plot that I got to live.
- 2:53Speaker 4: You're doing better than most people have ever done in
- 2:56Speaker 4: that question, Tyler. So well done.
- 2:57Speaker 6: Yeah, very well, Tyler. Look, so, since you've been to
- 3:02Speaker 6: New Orleans, obviously, what a wild ride the first year was.
- 3:05Speaker 6: But let's talk about it before we get kind of
- 3:07Speaker 6: the football. Let's just talk about your experience here in
- 3:09Speaker 6: Louisiana in general. There's like, I don't think you should
- 3:12Speaker 6: write a book basically on how to go to a
- 3:16Speaker 6: team and totally immerse yourself in the culture and really
- 3:20Speaker 6: just gain the favor of the fan base. Everything from
- 3:23Speaker 6: going out to local restaurants, to to Marty grawl to
- 3:26Speaker 6: even this past weekend with with the bananas. I saw
- 3:28Speaker 6: that touchdown pass and the dance, Like, well done, But
- 3:31Speaker 6: how has your first year just in the state of
- 3:34Speaker 6: Louisiana been for you?
- 3:36Speaker 5: I mean, it's been such a bussing because you come
- 3:39Speaker 5: here and you don't really know much about a lot
- 3:42Speaker 5: of the culture is a lot of them, you know,
- 3:44Speaker 5: what goes on, the music, what's important to people. And
- 3:46Speaker 5: I think it was, you know, what helped me out
- 3:48Speaker 5: throughout my college career was going to different places, meeting
- 3:51Speaker 5: new people, having to really kind of be genuine and
- 3:53Speaker 5: earn everybody to respect. But you can't do that, you know,
- 3:56Speaker 5: right away. It's got to go come naturally through time.
- 3:59Speaker 5: And and I still have to do that. You know,
- 4:01Speaker 5: I've only played half a season, you know. If that
- 4:03Speaker 5: so my mindset is, you know, we got so much
- 4:06Speaker 5: more to go. And but yeah, I loved it here.
- 4:09Speaker 5: I think it's like the people here are what make it,
- 4:11Speaker 5: you know. I think that's why everyone stays here. I
- 4:13Speaker 5: think everyone I've talked to you either from here or
- 4:15Speaker 5: you moved here, and you have it left and it's
- 4:18Speaker 5: such a cool kind of environment to be in. So
- 4:21Speaker 5: I'm just excited to kind of continue to continue to
- 4:23Speaker 5: grow and see what we can do.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Tyler kind of walk us through last year and you
- 4:27Speaker 4: and I we caught up over on NFL radio, you know,
- 4:30Speaker 4: during training camp and you're still in a position battle
- 4:33Speaker 4: and it was a three person battle at that time.
- 4:36Speaker 4: And you know, like you mentioned, like you played half
- 4:38Speaker 4: a season, you sat behind spencer and then when it
- 4:40Speaker 4: was your turn, you go in and certainly elevated the
- 4:42Speaker 4: play of those around you. But for you, like when
- 4:44Speaker 4: you're sitting there and you're waiting for your turn, what
- 4:47Speaker 4: was your process to make sure that you were ready
- 4:49Speaker 4: when your number was called?
- 4:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I wanted to treat it, you know, every day
- 4:54Speaker 5: the same. And my process I was really intentional about
- 4:57Speaker 5: not you know, making it bigger than it was. Whenever
- 5:00Speaker 5: I got my opportunity, I wanted to make sure my
- 5:01Speaker 5: process was dials from my preparation standpoint. When when I
- 5:04Speaker 5: got into practice, I was treating the scout team. I
- 5:06Speaker 5: was treating every single rep like I was in the game,
- 5:08Speaker 5: and and it made the game a little bit, you
- 5:10Speaker 5: know a little bit slower over time, and I'm still
- 5:13Speaker 5: gonna make mistakes, and I made a bunch of mistakes,
- 5:16Speaker 5: and but I feel like for me, I feel like
- 5:18Speaker 5: I can continue to learn and I want to keep
- 5:20Speaker 5: that same mindset. And yeah, I mean whenever you whenever
- 5:23Speaker 5: I first talked to you last you know, you're still
- 5:25Speaker 5: just trying to remember the playbook and learn the plays.
- 5:27Speaker 5: It's a brand new offense for everybody and a lot
- 5:29Speaker 5: of unknown so you kind of have to give yourself
- 5:32Speaker 5: some grace and understand it's you know, how how do
- 5:35Speaker 5: you get to where you want to go in the
- 5:37Speaker 5: long run. And you know, talking to Drew Brees was
- 5:39Speaker 5: was was really big for me because he he had
- 5:42Speaker 5: a unique experience in San Diego before he even got
- 5:45Speaker 5: to the stats and he wasn't even Drew Brees as
- 5:47Speaker 5: we know in Love that first year or the second year,
- 5:50Speaker 5: and and and it was I think a culmination of overtime.
- 5:53Speaker 5: And it's really cool to kind of I think we
- 5:56Speaker 5: put a lot of pressure on young players and draft
- 5:59Speaker 5: hit and free agent signees and all these guys, and
- 6:03Speaker 5: I think over time, you really want to have that
- 6:05Speaker 5: long term investment. I think the coaches understood that. And
- 6:09Speaker 5: for my job is just kind of continue to grow
- 6:12Speaker 5: and keep doing it.
- 6:14Speaker 6: Let's talk about how you kind of grew as a
- 6:17Speaker 6: quarterback and you learn, like a lot of times you
- 6:19Speaker 6: go into a situation there's always like a much older
- 6:23Speaker 6: veteran quarterback that you can kind of pick the brain
- 6:25Speaker 6: of and learn from. Well, you didn't really have that.
- 6:27Speaker 6: You had Spencer Rattlers Bear who's a second year guy.
- 6:30Speaker 6: But you do have experienced coaches around you that have
- 6:33Speaker 6: played the position. Yes, Scott Tolzen as a quarterback coach,
- 6:36Speaker 6: a former teammate of mine. You got Kella Moore that's
- 6:37Speaker 6: played a long time. So, like, how was just the
- 6:40Speaker 6: quarterback room and just your exposure to the experience and
- 6:44Speaker 6: and how do you think you once you got there,
- 6:47Speaker 6: how quickly did you kind of get to like, all right,
- 6:49Speaker 6: this is the NFL. It's a little bit different, but
- 6:51Speaker 6: you get caught up to speed to the NFL game.
- 6:54Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it was really once I started getting
- 6:57Speaker 5: to the preseason games and kind of got into practices
- 7:00Speaker 5: and playing. You know, obviously, coming into the Saints it
- 7:04Speaker 5: was just kind of a three way quarterback battle. So
- 7:07Speaker 5: those reps are split into thirds, and it kind of
- 7:09Speaker 5: it takes a little bit whenever you you know, there's
- 7:12Speaker 5: nothing like getting actual reps to go out and continue
- 7:14Speaker 5: to learn and get better with. And but for me
- 7:17Speaker 5: it was great because those guys are awesome, Like it
- 7:19Speaker 5: was such a fun experience to be able to compete
- 7:22Speaker 5: with them continually throughout the season, you know, back up
- 7:24Speaker 5: and learn from Spencer, you know, have those roles switch
- 7:27Speaker 5: and just without that dynamic worked was really great. So
- 7:31Speaker 5: it's definitely not an easy situation if you look at
- 7:33Speaker 5: it from the outside, but it made it worth it
- 7:35Speaker 5: and a lot of fun when when when whenever you're
- 7:38Speaker 5: kind of going through a season that is not necessarily
- 7:41Speaker 5: a super Bowl run and what we wanted to look like,
- 7:42Speaker 5: but how we can kind of shift our folks and
- 7:45Speaker 5: continually getting better and how how we can climb in
- 7:48Speaker 5: that aspect, And I was really grateful for those guys.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Did you have a hit?
- 7:53Speaker 6: Did you ever have like whether it's practice or game,
- 7:55Speaker 6: did you ever have like a welcome to the NFL
- 7:57Speaker 6: type moment? Like I remember my my rookie year. It
- 8:00Speaker 6: was in an Ota practice, Charles Woodson picked me off
- 8:02Speaker 6: three times. He was because he wasn't there like he
- 8:05Speaker 6: was supposed to be as a curl flood defender. He
- 8:07Speaker 6: was like reading my eyes and he was reading the
- 8:09Speaker 6: I was like, it's not supposed to be there. If
- 8:10Speaker 6: he picked me off, I was like this is a
- 8:11Speaker 6: little bit different game than I'm used to. Did you
- 8:13Speaker 6: ever have like that type of welcome to the NFL moment?
- 8:17Speaker 5: Yeah, I think in practice there was definitely an aspect
- 8:21Speaker 5: of like, okay, I do definitely it's like a one,
- 8:25Speaker 5: A two.
- 8:25Speaker 3: A read.
- 8:26Speaker 5: You know, there's not really you don't have you barely
- 8:28Speaker 5: have three seconds of throw. So it was I remember
- 8:30Speaker 5: like having Chase and Kim Jordan just in scout team,
- 8:34Speaker 5: like do you got you better know what you're going
- 8:35Speaker 5: with the ball free snaw because he can't get caught
- 8:38Speaker 5: with it in your hands that much. And that was
- 8:40Speaker 5: a practice one. And then in the NFL, I think
- 8:41Speaker 5: my first start against the Rams, one of their elite
- 8:45Speaker 5: pass rushers came off the edge Scott Free and just
- 8:48Speaker 5: clocked me right in the right in the jaw, And
- 8:51Speaker 5: it was it was pretty rough because I I got
- 8:54Speaker 5: up a little woozy, but it was I couldn't feel
- 8:57Speaker 5: my jaw for a little bit. That was that was
- 9:00Speaker 5: that was not fun. But I was like, all right,
- 9:03Speaker 5: these guys. It was kind of like, all right, you
- 9:05Speaker 5: better know what you're doing. But it was good over time,
- 9:08Speaker 5: just to kind of to get your feet wet and
- 9:10Speaker 5: get thrown it as far that way.
- 9:12Speaker 4: I catching up with New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler shuck
- 9:15Speaker 4: Hero on No TV. You're right about that. It's like
- 9:17Speaker 4: one of those situations like it almost has to happen.
- 9:20Speaker 4: I've told Matt Mian before. We're playing against the Cowboys
- 9:23Speaker 4: in the preseason. I'm starting out wide and I'm motioning
- 9:26Speaker 4: in and we got like thirty ISO called and I'm
- 9:28Speaker 4: the fullback and so I'm trying to find who the
- 9:30Speaker 4: mic backer is and I'm motioning in and I'm blocking
- 9:33Speaker 4: for Ladani and Thomlinson, so like, I can't screw this
- 9:35Speaker 4: up as a rookie, right And I'm motioning in and
- 9:38Speaker 4: I see Zach Thomas is the linebacker that I have
- 9:41Speaker 4: to block, who has a gold jacket now? And I'm like,
- 9:44Speaker 4: first play, Tyler, first play in my NFL career, And
- 9:46Speaker 4: I'm like, okay, well, there's no easing into this, which
- 9:49Speaker 4: I'm sure after your jaw stopped hurting and you can
- 9:52Speaker 4: kind of think about that play. That's kind of what
- 9:53Speaker 4: you thought, like, all right, now we're here. Now I
- 9:55Speaker 4: kind of know what to expect.
- 9:57Speaker 5: Mm hmm, yeah. I mean you always you always want
- 9:59Speaker 5: to get off especially coming in earlier in the game.
- 10:03Speaker 5: That's why I was remember going against the Bucks. At first,
- 10:06Speaker 5: I was like, man, I remember watching these guys in
- 10:08Speaker 5: the Super Bowl and Vita Bay and all these guys.
- 10:10Speaker 5: I'm like, screw that, I'm gonna go rip it. And
- 10:13Speaker 5: it was just kind of it was cool to kind
- 10:16Speaker 5: of ship that focus. But yeah, like, like like I
- 10:18Speaker 5: said before, you know, I think we kind of understood
- 10:22Speaker 5: what we're capable of and what we kind of need
- 10:23Speaker 5: to change and shift to get to where we want
- 10:25Speaker 5: to go.
- 10:27Speaker 4: That was something that we've been talking about over the
- 10:28Speaker 4: last you know, a week or so since free agency open.
- 10:31Speaker 4: The New Orleans Saints have done a really nice job
- 10:33Speaker 4: of adding to the offensive side of the football, right
- 10:36Speaker 4: I mean, Travis ah Chan, David Edwards, Noah Fant. I mean,
- 10:39Speaker 4: these are players that are certainly going to be a
- 10:41Speaker 4: big part of the offense and some time free agents
- 10:44Speaker 4: here early in the free agent process. I know, for you,
- 10:47Speaker 4: as a young quarterback, you can appreciate the front office
- 10:50Speaker 4: going out there and adding pieces to try to help
- 10:52Speaker 4: that out of the football.
- 10:54Speaker 5: Yeah, I think, you know, it's obviously really encouraging for
- 10:58Speaker 5: me because those guys are elite players and getting to
- 11:01Speaker 5: know them as humans too, And it's been really cool
- 11:04Speaker 5: because you kind of see their vision. You see the
- 11:06Speaker 5: front offices playing, and you know, you love, love what
- 11:09Speaker 5: they're doing, and you know, my job is to continue
- 11:11Speaker 5: to get better and be the best quarterback I can
- 11:14Speaker 5: be for the team and for those guys that are
- 11:16Speaker 5: coming in and and want to win and want to
- 11:18Speaker 5: want to contribute. So, uh, I know, we got a
- 11:21Speaker 5: long way to go till football season comes. But I
- 11:24Speaker 5: think the exciting part is is that the plan that
- 11:26Speaker 5: we have in play is the process that we're kind
- 11:28Speaker 5: of going through to get there, and and it's going
- 11:30Speaker 5: to be a process. I don't think, you know, it's
- 11:32Speaker 5: going to be an immediate you know, oh my goodness,
- 11:35Speaker 5: like first you know, half of the season, first game, whatever,
- 11:38Speaker 5: it's going to be like we we figured it out.
- 11:40Speaker 5: And I think it's That's kind of the thing I
- 11:42Speaker 5: learned last year is that, you know, the Patriots and
- 11:45Speaker 5: and the Seahawks were kind of counted out a little
- 11:48Speaker 5: bit in the beginning of the season. A lot of those
- 11:50Speaker 5: teams are how do you kind of stay in the fight.
- 11:52Speaker 5: So I think that's kind of our mission going forward.
- 11:55Speaker 5: To see how we can kind of keep them better.
- 11:57Speaker 6: Tell me about a little bit about your offense that
- 11:59Speaker 6: you're right there now, I know you have a different
- 12:02Speaker 6: Kelling Moore is not the offensive querrey as your head coach,
- 12:04Speaker 6: of course, but I mean it is. It is probably
- 12:06Speaker 6: mostly his offense. So, like, tell me about the offense.
- 12:10Speaker 6: How how comfortable were you from a terminology standpoint, from
- 12:13Speaker 6: a footwork standpoint, Like what are the things that you
- 12:15Speaker 6: are asked to do?
- 12:16Speaker 3: Is it? Uh?
- 12:17Speaker 6: Do you have a lot of freedom in pre snap checks?
- 12:21Speaker 6: Audibles do you have do you control the past protections?
- 12:25Speaker 6: Like what kind of what kind of influence does a
- 12:27Speaker 6: quarterback have each and every play in this Kellingmore offense?
- 12:31Speaker 5: Yeah, No, Kellon calls it so is his offense. He
- 12:34Speaker 5: calls it as well, he builds it. And I think
- 12:35Speaker 5: you know, for me, it was it's a brand new
- 12:37Speaker 5: Whenever you learn a new offense, everyone you know has
- 12:39Speaker 5: their own unique language and you're kind of coming into
- 12:41Speaker 5: it last year. But I think the exciting part is
- 12:44Speaker 5: is having that year under your belt of like you're
- 12:46Speaker 5: not having to think twice about what what the play
- 12:50Speaker 5: is and what what we're trying to get done here?
- 12:51Speaker 5: And you kind of start to build a bigger picture
- 12:53Speaker 5: of you know what we like certain stuff against certain looks.
- 12:56Speaker 5: And I think that's the constant battle as a quarterback
- 12:59Speaker 5: is how how much do you put on somebody's plate?
- 13:01Speaker 5: How how much do you just let him play fast
- 13:03Speaker 5: you try and get in the right play. And that's
- 13:06Speaker 5: what we're trying to constantly figure out and my job
- 13:08Speaker 5: to continue to grow and get better with. But you know,
- 13:10Speaker 5: I think they've done a really good job of putting
- 13:12Speaker 5: a lot on my plate and give me, you know,
- 13:14Speaker 5: the keys to the car a little bit. But also
- 13:16Speaker 5: there's certain times the NFL defenses are so good that
- 13:20Speaker 5: you know, you sometimes you got to go out there
- 13:21Speaker 5: and and run it and rep it and have some
- 13:23Speaker 5: peer progression stuff. But I've really enjoyed just kind of
- 13:27Speaker 5: having that role, and I think they've done a good
- 13:29Speaker 5: job of enabling a lot of guys and myself included,
- 13:33Speaker 5: just to step up into that leadership role. And that's
- 13:35Speaker 5: something I really want to continue to do, is is
- 13:38Speaker 5: master that and you know, master the offense, all.
- 13:41Speaker 4: Right, Tyler. So I have been on Mardigralf floats with
- 13:45Speaker 4: a lot of different quarterbacks. The guy sitting to my left,
- 13:47Speaker 4: Matt Flynn, Bobby Abart, Drew Brees. I saw video of you.
- 13:52Speaker 4: There's something about you quarterbacks that when you get on
- 13:55Speaker 4: a mardigolf float, it's like you think people are going
- 13:57Speaker 4: to question I think your arm talent if you don't
- 13:59Speaker 4: throw them the as fast as you possibly can. Was
- 14:02Speaker 4: that your mindset, because let me tell you something. This
- 14:04Speaker 4: guy to my left, he was throwing two seam fastballs
- 14:07Speaker 4: to everybody the entire parade. TI I mean, never let up.
- 14:11Speaker 4: I think it's a quarterback thing.
- 14:13Speaker 5: I don't know. I mean it was that and I
- 14:14Speaker 5: had probably a few too many beers.
- 14:19Speaker 3: The problem.
- 14:20Speaker 5: I had the phone footballs and everyone's screaming at you.
- 14:23Speaker 5: I'm like, all right then, like if you want it, wow,
- 14:27Speaker 5: then I don't know. I mean, it was such a
- 14:30Speaker 5: great time. I mean I hardly remember that moment, but
- 14:32Speaker 5: it was. It was. It was just an unbelievable experience.
- 14:36Speaker 5: My favorite part was just like how many people were
- 14:39Speaker 5: just coming to the streets, coming together to just have
- 14:41Speaker 5: like a good time and celebrate and for I mean,
- 14:45Speaker 5: I was like, man, this is just to do it
- 14:47Speaker 5: every year. This is amazing. I can't I can't believe,
- 14:50Speaker 5: you know, hopefully when you have some some future team
- 14:53Speaker 5: success down the line and you know what that could
- 14:55Speaker 5: potentially look like. But yeah, I definitely have to maybe
- 14:59Speaker 5: get all the flow with with Matt Point and the
- 15:00Speaker 5: guys and see see if we can take a few
- 15:02Speaker 5: heads off.
- 15:03Speaker 6: That's right, I'm watching you do it here. We just
- 15:05Speaker 6: showed the clip of you on that float, a little
- 15:07Speaker 6: shouldery on your mechanics with the bees. Just got to
- 15:09Speaker 6: let you know that little shouldery. Maybe it was a
- 15:11Speaker 6: Piers talk. Uh, let me let me ask you this.
- 15:16Speaker 6: So the what are you looking forward to most going
- 15:19Speaker 6: into your second year? Like that's that's always kind of
- 15:21Speaker 6: the year that we we look at quarterbacks like there's
- 15:24Speaker 6: a there's usually a big jump because you kind of
- 15:26Speaker 6: go from what you just said, like with an offense,
- 15:28Speaker 6: you're trying to learn the terminology. It's more memorization at
- 15:31Speaker 6: that point rather than like knowing the language fluently of
- 15:34Speaker 6: an offense. So you've got to be fired up to
- 15:36Speaker 6: be kind of in going into your second year in
- 15:38Speaker 6: the system. But just from anything from personnel standpoint, the
- 15:41Speaker 6: moves they made in the free agency, or just getting
- 15:44Speaker 6: back into practice, Like what are you most excited about
- 15:46Speaker 6: going into your second year.
- 15:49Speaker 5: I'm really just excited to kind of get back with
- 15:51Speaker 5: all the guys and and like you said, kind of
- 15:53Speaker 5: you know, know what it looks like from the standpoint
- 15:56Speaker 5: of how can anything continuor to kind of grow in
- 15:58Speaker 5: the offense, what do you want to change? And then
- 16:00Speaker 5: for me, you know, like going into it, you don't
- 16:02Speaker 5: even know what an NFL practice looks like, or what
- 16:06Speaker 5: the reps are going to do look like, or what
- 16:08Speaker 5: I mean, let alone where you even park at the
- 16:10Speaker 5: stadium or where your locker is, and it's just like
- 16:12Speaker 5: there's so much where you're kind of like, oh, man,
- 16:15Speaker 5: I don't I don't know. And then you kind of
- 16:17Speaker 5: start getting your rhythm and you start getting a routine.
- 16:19Speaker 5: And I think that was the biggest thing for me
- 16:21Speaker 5: was having that routine set. And now kind of going
- 16:24Speaker 5: into this offseason, I really wanted to be intentional and
- 16:27Speaker 5: have a plan about, you know, my process of getting better,
- 16:30Speaker 5: because you know that included staying here in New Orleans
- 16:33Speaker 5: and doing everything I can to to be here and
- 16:37Speaker 5: be around all the guys.
- 16:39Speaker 4: All right there he is Saints quarterback Tyler shut good
- 16:42Speaker 4: enough to join us here on OTV Tyler before we
- 16:44Speaker 4: let you go, Congratulations also becoming a dad. That is awesome, man,
- 16:49Speaker 4: I know you were super fired up for that. There's literally,
- 16:52Speaker 4: as I was telling you the other day, there's not
- 16:53Speaker 4: a better feeling in the world. So congratulations on a
- 16:56Speaker 4: healthy baby. Looks like mom is healthy as well. We
- 16:59Speaker 4: saw the pictures at the Savannah Banana's game that looked awesome,
- 17:02Speaker 4: and so congratulations brother.
- 17:04Speaker 5: Appreciate you guys. No, it's been awesome. She and Mom
- 17:07Speaker 5: has been killing it.
- 17:08Speaker 3: You know.
- 17:08Speaker 5: I can't do some of those fun evests without without
- 17:11Speaker 5: her kind of taking the load as much as you
- 17:13Speaker 5: guys know his father. So it's been it's been great.
- 17:16Speaker 5: It's kind of been nice being in the off season
- 17:18Speaker 5: as well, kind of get to see at least be
- 17:21Speaker 5: up for a lot of those night stuff. I'm sure
- 17:23Speaker 5: my wife would disagree with you as far as hold
- 17:25Speaker 5: much time up because she's probably up a little bit more.
- 17:27Speaker 4: But that's all right.
- 17:28Speaker 5: It's been good though.
- 17:29Speaker 4: I appreciate you guys absolutely, man. Hey, look forward to
- 17:32Speaker 4: seeing you down there for for training camp for sure.
- 17:35Speaker 4: Best luck and everything, man, best luck in the upcoming season.
- 17:37Speaker 4: We'll catch up again soon.
- 17:39Speaker 5: Awesome. Thank you guys.
- 17:40Speaker 4: All right, thank you Saints quarterback Tyler Shuck good enough
- 17:43Speaker 4: to join us here again on OTB Quarterbacks and I'm
- 17:49Speaker 4: sitting there, can't help yourself.
- 17:51Speaker 6: Hey, good for Tyler though taking taking a little bit
- 17:54Speaker 6: of credit for the late night stuff with the babies.
- 17:56Speaker 6: Got to gotta take a little credit.
- 17:59Speaker 4: You can't take it all because we know we would
- 18:03Speaker 4: have called you out. We had called you out. Now,
- 18:04Speaker 4: I really appreciate that, and look full disclosure, like he
- 18:08Speaker 4: has been great about coming on. We had a couple
- 18:10Speaker 4: of different times it was scheduled and he had things
- 18:12Speaker 4: pop up up, like having a child. So we certainly
- 18:15Speaker 4: appreciate he's been great to work with and looking forward
- 18:18Speaker 4: to going down to New Orleans. It's gonna be one
- 18:20Speaker 4: of our training camp stops and so look forward to
- 18:23Speaker 4: kind of just being there and now being his team.
- 18:26Speaker 6: Yeah, it's so important taking every wrap instead of a
- 18:29Speaker 6: third of the raps.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Right.
- 18:30Speaker 6: Yeah, And like I said, there's a memorization thing when
- 18:33Speaker 6: you learn new offenses, Like it's a memorized thing.
- 18:36Speaker 3: It's like you learning like.
- 18:38Speaker 6: Learning a different language, Like okay, that is what this
- 18:41Speaker 6: word means in the language that I know better. Like,
- 18:43Speaker 6: so it's once you learn you're fluent in it. Man,
- 18:47Speaker 6: the jump for him, I can't wait to see it
- 18:50Speaker 6: and dude, what a guy. Yep, bro, dude.
- 18:55Speaker 4: I liked that he was not running away from our
- 18:58Speaker 4: dumb questions. No, nope, he was all I felt bad.
- 19:02Speaker 4: He's like, man, I've seen it, but I can't like
- 19:04Speaker 4: really quit her Andy. Then we're like, no, no, no, no, no,
- 19:05Speaker 4: you've seen the movie and all you have to do
- 19:08Speaker 4: is perfect and a logic. Congratulations Shuck. If you buck
- 19:12Speaker 4: that's the one that you've been on on day one, yep,
- 19:15Speaker 4: and schuck around and find out.
- 19:17Speaker 2: But he came up with that one. We're somebody.
- 19:19Speaker 7: He probably heard it somewhere, but yeah, I like that
- 19:21Speaker 7: one to shuck around and find out.
- 19:23Speaker 4: That's good. All right, we're gonna take a break kind
- 19:26Speaker 4: of recap you know what we just talked about with
- 19:27Speaker 4: Tyler Shuck and a couple other things as we get
- 19:30Speaker 4: ready to close out today somewhat because we went twenty
- 19:34Speaker 4: minutes with Tyler Shuck, so we appreciate his time there.
- 19:37Speaker 4: More OTV when we come back laughing, the raised can studio.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 19:41Speaker 4: All right, go to Joey C. Opi JC, gcopnet dot
- 19:45Speaker 4: com op gcop net dot com. Yeah, you know me
- 19:49Speaker 4: go to Gulf Coast Office Products, the leader in office technology. Right,
- 19:54Speaker 4: if you need a document, you need it now. You
- 19:56Speaker 4: don't need it ten minutes from now, you don't need it.
- 19:58Speaker 4: Twenty minutes from now, you certainly don't need it tomorrow.
- 20:00Speaker 4: You need it right now. And so the best part
- 20:03Speaker 4: about gcop is like they're massive, right, they are a
- 20:06Speaker 4: huge company, multiple locations, but you get the customer service.
- 20:10Speaker 4: I'm a mom and pop, Like that's the best part
- 20:12Speaker 4: about it. So all the latest technology, you got it,
- 20:15Speaker 4: but the customer service of who I call is who
- 20:17Speaker 4: fixes the issue, you get that as well. It's truly
- 20:20Speaker 4: the best of both worlds. Gcop net dot Com.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Golf Coast Office Products.
- 20:23Speaker 6: Yeah, their technology is the best, and they're shipping technology
- 20:26Speaker 6: and printers and copiers and scanners all over the country.
- 20:28Speaker 6: But they are Louisiana born right here, and what sets
- 20:31Speaker 6: them apart from everybody else it's not only their tech,
- 20:33Speaker 6: it's their award winning local service team. Because when your
- 20:35Speaker 6: office goes down, the worst thing that can happen is
- 20:38Speaker 6: you got to get on the phone and wait hours
- 20:39Speaker 6: before it gets back up and running Golf Coast Office Products,
- 20:42Speaker 6: Get you back gcop net dot.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Com Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, presented by Hoodzental.
- 21:11Speaker 4: The kind of Girl and you good pool and it
- 21:19Speaker 4: just went in a long time.
- 21:22Speaker 2: This came from your pop, so people forget about Brandy.
- 21:25Speaker 4: This came from your dad.
- 21:26Speaker 2: This one okay, this was all me right here.
- 21:30Speaker 4: Katie has fallen into like a Brandy monica, like, oh,
- 21:33Speaker 4: start playing them a little bit? Well, yeah that. It
- 21:35Speaker 4: starts with that, and then it goes to like their
- 21:37Speaker 4: individual hits and so it's always a good pool. Well done.
- 21:42Speaker 4: What a ship.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Or who she?
- 21:45Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah Brandy yeah r J Yeah,
- 21:49Speaker 4: made made famous with Kim Kardashian, Yes on the comeback tour.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Yeah, come back to her.
- 21:55Speaker 4: Yeah for sure. I'm glad that you.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Got Yeah, I got it. What what were you saying?
- 22:03Speaker 4: What a show?
- 22:04Speaker 2: That's what you were saying.
- 22:06Speaker 8: I was just telling Aladay in the whole way. He's like,
- 22:09Speaker 8: there's the show. Then I was like, well, a.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Couple of things have happened, A couple of things almost
- 22:13Speaker 3: nearly died. Why did even I forgot about dog Die?
- 22:16Speaker 4: Kashmulk got emotional, which was incredible. We didn't even get
- 22:19Speaker 4: a chance to talk about that. Talking about Flage. Uh
- 22:23Speaker 4: if you Buck had you know, choice word to say,
- 22:26Speaker 4: which we shaped bomb means you're comfortable.
- 22:29Speaker 6: Little bit of a shuck bomb, you know, which is awesome.
- 22:32Speaker 6: And he just kept rolling with it, totally natural. He's
- 22:35Speaker 6: seen Varsity Blues, Thank you, we got one. We got
- 22:39Speaker 6: a keeper, and he nailed the Cowboy.
- 22:42Speaker 7: He did.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Cowboy.
- 22:44Speaker 4: I felt bad that, like he thought we were like
- 22:46Speaker 4: going to quiz and we're like.
- 22:47Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, no, Bro. You answered solidified, Yeah,
- 22:51Speaker 3: you nailed it.
- 22:53Speaker 4: He did text me and say best questions I've ever had.
- 22:57Speaker 6: He also said that he had so many beers he
- 22:59Speaker 6: barely remembers on the you want to ingratiate yourself to
- 23:03Speaker 6: a community.
- 23:05Speaker 3: To a state, my guy.
- 23:07Speaker 6: That was so endearing, Like, let's just go ahead and
- 23:10Speaker 6: sign him at a let's seven eight year, one billion
- 23:12Speaker 6: dollar contract, give him.
- 23:14Speaker 2: A billy billion billion, give him a billy why not.
- 23:18Speaker 7: I do love the Coach Kimilkey thing though, because you
- 23:21Speaker 7: can just see, like throughout the years how much love
- 23:24Speaker 7: her and Flage have for each other, and she's like
- 23:27Speaker 7: she's totally right. The program in the school in general,
- 23:31Speaker 7: is gonna miss Flage Like she is a staple for
- 23:33Speaker 7: LS women's basketball as big as Angel Reese was for
- 23:37Speaker 7: whatever reason, Like whether you loved or hated Angel Reese,
- 23:40Speaker 7: she was still.
- 23:42Speaker 3: Ye, she was a brand brand.
- 23:45Speaker 2: It's just straight up lovable.
- 23:47Speaker 4: In the the game. To your point, too, is is
- 23:51Speaker 4: big right now and they're finally getting like some love.
- 23:55Speaker 8: Right Well, it's it's her. It's her first four year player.
- 23:57Speaker 8: Yeah in lu is a freshman on the national championship team.
- 24:01Speaker 8: So this is this Kemp's first four year blake.
- 24:04Speaker 4: Like y'all probably didn't have it, Like basketball is down
- 24:07Speaker 4: bad when y'all were in school.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Oh so when you're nicky Fargus years were bleak.
- 24:12Speaker 4: So like even to so Flynn and I like we
- 24:14Speaker 4: were spoiled. They went to the Final four every year
- 24:16Speaker 4: we were in school. So like if Simona Gass Sylvia Fowls,
- 24:21Speaker 4: they were incredible like statues obviously like someone's one of
- 24:25Speaker 4: the best to ever do it. But like for Flage
- 24:27Speaker 4: to stay four years, like she's in that realm for me,
- 24:31Speaker 4: Like she might not end up with the individual awards,
- 24:33Speaker 4: but like what she's meant to this program, what she's
- 24:36Speaker 4: done for this program, Uh, to stay here when very
- 24:40Speaker 4: easily you can you know, hey, I'm gonna put myself
- 24:42Speaker 4: in the portal. I'm gonna see what the market said.
- 24:44Speaker 4: Like never did that. And you could just like for
- 24:47Speaker 4: a coach to get that emotional that you know typically
- 24:49Speaker 4: doesn't get emotional, you know, Coach Maulki, like she's pretty
- 24:53Speaker 4: you know, straightforward, you can tell what that player means
- 24:56Speaker 4: to this program.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Yeah, but you.
- 24:58Speaker 7: Can also like just the way she coaches and like
- 25:00Speaker 7: how passionate she gets. People can call it angry and
- 25:04Speaker 7: like screaming or whatever, but like that's just passion, you know.
- 25:07Speaker 7: And she has like that same passion for her players,
- 25:09Speaker 7: and she very clearly had it for Flage the entire
- 25:13Speaker 7: time she was here. When they won the Natty, they
- 25:16Speaker 7: like jumped into each other's arms, Like.
- 25:20Speaker 4: She demands a lot from Flage as well, which is
- 25:22Speaker 4: like the ultimate leadership.
- 25:23Speaker 6: Yes, when she was talking about her and emotional about
- 25:29Speaker 6: her being her last game and what she's meant and
- 25:32Speaker 6: I hope people heard that, and she said, I hope
- 25:34Speaker 6: you'll repost this, and what about going and watching that moment,
- 25:40Speaker 6: I was sitting there and I'm like, man, right, there's
- 25:45Speaker 6: nothing that I can I can do here, we can
- 25:48Speaker 6: do here for like to follow up this in like
- 25:50Speaker 6: a like in a way that is I want you
- 25:55Speaker 6: to like expand on that because like you just said
- 25:59Speaker 6: it perfectly, you know what I mean. So it's like
- 26:02Speaker 6: that was that was that was that was awesome right
- 26:05Speaker 6: up time.
- 26:06Speaker 4: Huh.
- 26:06Speaker 3: She went back to again.
- 26:09Speaker 4: As somebody and you and I have been a part
- 26:11Speaker 4: of multiple teams. We've had multiple head coaches. Uh go
- 26:14Speaker 4: from Nick Saban to less miles from me, North Turner
- 26:17Speaker 4: and John Fox and you could go the same ones
- 26:19Speaker 4: with you know, Mike McCarthy what he meant to you,
- 26:21Speaker 4: lest Nick whatever, Like we know that that doesn't just happen.
- 26:28Speaker 4: Like there's trials, there's tribulations, there's things you've gone through
- 26:31Speaker 4: together to get to that point to have that kind
- 26:35Speaker 4: of love for your player or for your coach, and
- 26:40Speaker 4: not every player coach relationship is like that doesn't mean
- 26:43Speaker 4: you don't like the person. Like I saw John Fox
- 26:46Speaker 4: at the combine, Hey Foxy, what's up? Brother's quick conversation?
- 26:49Speaker 4: Like me and nor we talk all the time. Ye
- 26:51Speaker 4: like me and coach Saban. If I seem like a
- 26:53Speaker 4: man changed my life when and say hello, I named
- 26:55Speaker 4: Memphis Miles after coach Miles. Like, so every relationship is
- 26:58Speaker 4: going to be a little bit different, but like it's
- 27:00Speaker 4: very cool to hear a legend like Kim Molk talk
- 27:03Speaker 4: about another legendary player and what they mean to each other.
- 27:06Speaker 6: And it's not even like the you know, the on
- 27:10Speaker 6: the court performance. I don't think that why Kimulchi feels
- 27:15Speaker 6: that way about it. It probably has a lot to do
- 27:17Speaker 6: with it, but the respect that they have for each other, certainly,
- 27:21Speaker 6: But think about this day and age with college athletics.
- 27:23Speaker 3: Yeah, how many people.
- 27:25Speaker 6: Are staying an entire career, Like she said it two
- 27:30Speaker 6: months ago, She's like, it's hard to I have to.
- 27:33Speaker 6: My timing of teaching my student athletes is different. Like
- 27:39Speaker 6: used to I could, I could take my time and
- 27:42Speaker 6: build it slowly, but most of the times only get
- 27:44Speaker 6: only get girls for a year, maybe two years. But
- 27:46Speaker 6: like for one person to be such a big impact
- 27:49Speaker 6: on your program the university and be such a shining
- 27:54Speaker 6: light for that and do it in such a a
- 27:56Speaker 6: in a great way, like a lot of people shine
- 27:58Speaker 6: a light, but it's not the best site. This has
- 28:01Speaker 6: all been positive and like a a great example of
- 28:06Speaker 6: how to like positively build your brand and be like
- 28:09Speaker 6: the face of a program of a program, and so like, yeah,
- 28:14Speaker 6: there's gonna be some extra emotion when that coach talks
- 28:16Speaker 6: about that, because it's different. What she did is different
- 28:20Speaker 6: than what most people are doing in college athletics now,
- 28:23Speaker 6: which is which is a special thing.
- 28:25Speaker 3: So go, celebrator, go.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Buy some tickets and buy some tickets.
- 28:30Speaker 4: And I think I think fans will.
- 28:32Speaker 8: Yeah, they were gonna anyway.
- 28:35Speaker 3: For sure.
- 28:37Speaker 4: People get so excited to go watch this team play.
- 28:40Speaker 4: So and I know Friday at five, like coach said,
- 28:46Speaker 4: unfortunately at the timing of that, it's not easy certainly
- 28:48Speaker 4: to get there for tip. So try to get there
- 28:51Speaker 4: when you can. But like she said, Sunday, there's no excuse.
- 28:55Speaker 3: Let's remember one.
- 28:57Speaker 4: Don't talk about fight club.
- 28:58Speaker 3: No excuses. Play like a champion. Be there.
- 29:02Speaker 4: I thought were number one, talk about it's for number
- 29:05Speaker 4: one in Whiting Crashers.
- 29:07Speaker 3: True.
- 29:10Speaker 4: And if you're wondering, like why we don't have baseball
- 29:12Speaker 4: on Sunday, remember it's a Thursday Friday Saturday, Thursday Friday
- 29:16Speaker 4: Saturday series with Oklahoma.
- 29:17Speaker 3: So that's Sunday that.
- 29:18Speaker 4: So so Sunday, you're not gonna have an excuse like,
- 29:22Speaker 4: go be in the pback, go be in the number,
- 29:25Speaker 4: and coach can't put her cart before the horse. The weekend,
- 29:30Speaker 4: you're fifty one and a half point favorite, they're gonna
- 29:32Speaker 4: play on Sunday, So I.
- 29:34Speaker 3: Know, I appreciate She's like, we're fortunate enough to play
- 29:36Speaker 3: on Sunday.
- 29:36Speaker 4: It's like support, Oh my gosh, what Marler just texted me?
- 29:42Speaker 3: What they said? That's rule number seventy six. Idiot?
- 29:46Speaker 4: Yeah, that wrong?
- 29:50Speaker 3: Whatever nerd nerd.
- 29:57Speaker 4: Oh you heard you just heard him. All right, we'll
- 29:59Speaker 4: take a break. But awesome show. It's been a lot
- 30:03Speaker 4: of fun man outside of doc like almost dying. It
- 30:05Speaker 4: just added to the lore of the show. But that
- 30:07Speaker 4: was the perfect of that. It was boo, it was.
- 30:09Speaker 4: It threw us off real.
- 30:10Speaker 3: I don't know what to expects around here through us off.
- 30:12Speaker 4: Ever, all right, we'll take a break. More ot B.
- 30:15Speaker 4: Of course, our Wednesday show is also brought to you
- 30:16Speaker 4: by Hood Dental Care, Hoodentalcare dot com, Hoodentalcare dot Com.
- 30:21Speaker 8: More.
- 30:21Speaker 4: When we jump back here on one of four five, ESPN.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Batters off the bench.

- 32:27Speaker 6: All right, Well, is there another artist that you feel
- 32:29Speaker 6: the same about you doing their original band than their

- 32:50Speaker 6: What I didn't really realize recently was Crazy Train is
- 32:54Speaker 6: not like Sad.
- 32:54Speaker 3: It's just Ouzzy.
- 32:55Speaker 8: So I wasn't just played in this the Victoria the
- 32:58Speaker 8: other day. I think Ozzie's best hits are without Black Sabbath.
- 33:01Speaker 7: I strongly disagree.
- 33:07Speaker 4: They're both really good. Yeah, just like Beyonce just.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Thought it is a good pope.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Not a big deal. I just don't know that new music.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 33:24Speaker 6: Paul McCartney had a good album or I had a
- 33:27Speaker 6: couple of nice little songs. Obviously theaters away from the Yetles.
- 33:34Speaker 3: I mean, you're not gonna top that.
- 33:36Speaker 8: You're not gonna top even if even if McCartney had
- 33:39Speaker 8: a great solo career, it's not.
- 33:45Speaker 4: The greatest man of all time who.
- 33:51Speaker 6: Beatles? No, No, I say great. I mean it might
- 33:56Speaker 6: not be the best for you. But what they did
- 34:00Speaker 6: at the time they did it was absolutely great.
- 34:04Speaker 4: Yeah, them, the Rolling Stones, Elvis, like that time period, Like.
- 34:07Speaker 6: Just think about like creating music Like now, creating music's
- 34:10Speaker 6: different because there's only so many notes out there and
- 34:12Speaker 6: there's only so many ways you can play the notes.
- 34:14Speaker 3: But like they were just like inventing that stuff.
- 34:22Speaker 4: It was a great video game.
- 34:28Speaker 6: I was talking about. I got corrected on the wedding
- 34:30Speaker 6: crasher rules. Does anybody here remember what rule number one
- 34:36Speaker 6: is and wedding crashers?

- 35:24Speaker 4: Are we Chris Cornell on Sound Garden or audio Slave?
- 35:28Speaker 7: That's a tough but I don't know, Like that is
- 35:33Speaker 7: really hard for me because audio Slave, Yeah, Timple the
- 35:36Speaker 7: Dog is great too, but like that's a tough one
- 35:38Speaker 7: for me.
- 35:39Speaker 2: But I think I'm gonna go Soundguarden.
- 35:41Speaker 4: Of that was awesome, Like that's like too good, too popular.
- 35:44Speaker 4: Audio Slave like was pre game for me. So it's
- 35:47Speaker 4: never going to be Shadow of the Sun.
- 35:50Speaker 7: I mean our open for Hour one is Audio Sleeve.
