- 0:01Speaker 1: It's the doughnut critic.
- 0:03Speaker 2: He's here and he's brought us delicious looking things.
- 0:08Speaker 3: I want the cameras to get a shot of all
- 0:10Speaker 3: of the stuff that they brought you.
- 0:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I brought in a lot of different things.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Today, we're not highlighting one entity.
- 0:18Speaker 5: We're highlighting a way to get food from lots of
- 0:20Speaker 5: different places.
- 0:21Speaker 6: Yeah, so I'm going to teach you how to fish
- 0:23Speaker 6: for baked goods in Utah.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Okay.
- 0:26Speaker 6: So recently there was an app that just started. It's
- 0:29Speaker 6: called dozen dot app. So this app is going to
- 0:33Speaker 6: be genius because what it does there's two folds, so
- 0:37Speaker 6: us as consumers, we get to enjoy all these different
- 0:40Speaker 6: treats from homebeakers. I mean there's a lot of homebeakers
- 0:43Speaker 6: out there, but a lot of times that's so reserved
- 0:46Speaker 6: to your immediate circle, friend's family, and maybe one step out,
- 0:49Speaker 6: you know, somebody in your neighborhood.
- 0:51Speaker 4: But there's a lot of recipes.
- 0:52Speaker 6: There's a lot of good stuff out there, and if
- 0:54Speaker 6: that's not proliferated, that's not sent out to everybody, then
- 0:57Speaker 6: like you don't get to try it. This app twofold
- 1:01Speaker 6: gives us the consumers the benefit, but then it also
- 1:04Speaker 6: helps these home bakers be able to test their recipes,
- 1:07Speaker 6: send things out, and also appeal to the general population.
- 1:11Speaker 4: It's pretty cool.
- 1:12Speaker 1: So so what's the app called.
- 1:14Speaker 4: So it's called dozen Dot app.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Okay, I'm going to try to go there right now.
- 1:18Speaker 6: So it is available on Apple and Android at this point.
- 1:22Speaker 2: So tell us about what I mean. Like, I just
- 1:24Speaker 2: had this pimento spread.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Yeah, this is delicious. It's really good.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:28Speaker 6: So there's honestly, there's a lot of different versions. I've
- 1:31Speaker 6: seen some savory on there. There's some sweet. I've sent
- 1:34Speaker 6: and given you, guys, four different options from four different bakers.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Looks like more than four options.
- 1:40Speaker 4: There's a lot here.
- 1:41Speaker 6: So Bill, what you're referencing is sourdough with a Bosomic
- 1:46Speaker 6: red pepper butter, and it's available and you can order
- 1:50Speaker 6: it and you can you know, get it delivered or
- 1:52Speaker 6: pick up. It is amazing, And like I said, it's
- 1:55Speaker 6: that really good bakery inside of someone's home that you're
- 1:59Speaker 6: never going to know about until you try some of
- 2:01Speaker 6: these things out.
- 2:02Speaker 5: The bread is delicious, so that that person makes the
- 2:07Speaker 5: bread and the spread, it all.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Is one yep.
- 2:09Speaker 6: So you can you can order those packages and that's
- 2:11Speaker 6: from Madison at Alpine Oven. So that's one of those
- 2:17Speaker 6: that you can look on that app be able to
- 2:19Speaker 6: kind of like geoli locate around you.
- 2:21Speaker 4: But that's Alpine Oven.
- 2:23Speaker 3: So the cookies are from Katie's Cookie Company.
- 2:27Speaker 6: Yeah, and these are really legit. I mean, the flavors
- 2:30Speaker 6: are really potent. They're super awesome on the on the toppings.
- 2:35Speaker 6: This peanut butter cookie, Yeah, so you have a you
- 2:38Speaker 6: have a Muddy Buddy what we're You're that is what
- 2:40Speaker 6: it is.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:40Speaker 6: So it's got the peanut butter base and then it's
- 2:42Speaker 6: got the chocolate and then it's got the checks Muddy
- 2:45Speaker 6: Buddy checks on top the Yeah.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Interesting. So that is a key lime pie cookie. Yeah.
- 2:52Speaker 6: So that's got basically like almost like a gram base
- 2:55Speaker 6: to it, and then it's got the key Lime pie
- 2:57Speaker 6: on top. It's like that cheesecakeytus on top. That one
- 3:01Speaker 6: was delicious and her fried ice cream. Honestly, when I
- 3:03Speaker 6: would go to a yeah, so that one cookie over
- 3:07Speaker 6: there is a fried ice cream cookie.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Yep.
- 3:09Speaker 6: It's better than any fried ice cream that I've had
- 3:12Speaker 6: at a restaurant. I always want to do it because
- 3:14Speaker 6: I think, oh, it's gonna be good and crispy and creamy.
- 3:16Speaker 6: This cookie actually makes me want to order more fried
- 3:20Speaker 6: ice cream.
- 3:21Speaker 3: The Snickers macarons are from Oma's Kitchen.
- 3:25Speaker 6: So yeah, if you look on the app for Oma's Kitchen,
- 3:28Speaker 6: the macarons have a really good peanut butter flavor to them.
- 3:31Speaker 1: They are hard to make too, They are.
- 3:33Speaker 6: Very hard to make. But she did, but she did
- 3:37Speaker 6: a really great job. There's other flavors on there. And
- 3:40Speaker 6: the thing about these homemakers too, you kind of just
- 3:42Speaker 6: dip in. You click on their profile and then you
- 3:45Speaker 6: can see the smathering of other things that they do
- 3:47Speaker 6: on that.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Wow, but make sure you get into that raspberry roll.
- 3:51Speaker 3: So raspberry rolls are from Kay's Sweet Rolls and Breads.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Yes, these are delectable.
- 3:57Speaker 6: So if you bite into that, the raspberry flavor is
- 4:00Speaker 6: so delicious, so fresh, and I like the density of it.
- 4:04Speaker 6: I'm a density role kind of guy, and so these
- 4:08Speaker 6: really appeal to me.
- 4:10Speaker 2: And these are just this cookie.
- 4:13Speaker 4: This one you reference before the Muddy Buddy.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Bunny Buddy. It's like it weighs a half a pound.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Yeah, no, they are.
- 4:21Speaker 5: Now if somebody's listening, that's like, Hey, I'm a good
- 4:24Speaker 5: baker and I want to get my Do you know
- 4:27Speaker 5: how that they are able to be part of the app?
- 4:30Speaker 1: How does that work?
- 4:31Speaker 4: Yeah, So there is a process.
- 4:33Speaker 6: They are always looking for home bakers, and so you
- 4:36Speaker 6: go to their Instagram, you cook on that link and
- 4:39Speaker 6: then it asks if you're a home baker. Basically, if
- 4:41Speaker 6: you're a consumer, you can go on fill out a
- 4:43Speaker 6: form and then they can consider you for the app.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:46Speaker 6: Like I said, it's twofold, so us as consumers can
- 4:49Speaker 6: enjoy all these streets and then as a homebaker, like
- 4:52Speaker 6: go out and.
- 4:53Speaker 3: You weren't kidding about that Raspberry roll? Yeah, I mean
- 4:56Speaker 3: it doesn't you know. When you first look at it, you.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Go, maybe that's good.
- 5:01Speaker 4: Yeah, wow, No, the flavors are amazing, you're right.
- 5:04Speaker 1: The density, yes, that is incredible.
- 5:07Speaker 2: So you get the best thing to do is download
- 5:10Speaker 2: the app, right, yep, So.
- 5:12Speaker 6: Go to a dozen dot app and then there'll be
- 5:14Speaker 6: a link in their profile for you to go ahead
- 5:16Speaker 6: and download that and then it really is just like
- 5:19Speaker 6: searching through and it's amazing, And that's basically why they started.
- 5:22Speaker 6: So this actually comes from the previous owners of Crust Club.
- 5:26Speaker 6: I brought in Crust Club before those pies so they
- 5:30Speaker 6: partnered with one of their previous employees to bring this
- 5:33Speaker 6: app together because their thought was, there's so many things
- 5:36Speaker 6: that I want to share and put out there, and
- 5:38Speaker 6: people you know have reacted to it and think it's delicious,
- 5:41Speaker 6: So why not give them a way to do it,
- 5:43Speaker 6: put at all.
- 5:44Speaker 1: One place, make it easy to find.
- 5:46Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, it's basically like a farmer's market every day.
- 5:49Speaker 6: Instead of going to a farmer's market just on Saturday
- 5:52Speaker 6: morning and trying to figure out who's local and who's
- 5:55Speaker 6: doing something, it really is something you can open your
- 5:57Speaker 6: phone right now and be able to search through order,
- 6:00Speaker 6: get it delivered one and it's just dozen dot app
- 6:02Speaker 6: or doesn't dot app yep and wow and they'll deliver
- 6:06Speaker 6: or you can pick up.
- 6:07Speaker 1: That's great now, a great idea.
- 6:10Speaker 2: This is just to pivot to another place that we've
- 6:12Speaker 2: talked about before. My wife went to Fillings and Emotions
- 6:19Speaker 2: in their new location they move. They're in the old
- 6:21Speaker 2: Granados building on Third West there and I'm now called
- 6:26Speaker 2: and she brought back all of this stuff and she
- 6:29Speaker 2: said it's not very expensive either, and it's great variety,
- 6:33Speaker 2: and all of it was good and I've touched sight it.
- 6:35Speaker 2: I'm not calling it fillings and emotions emoltions. It's feelings
- 6:39Speaker 2: and emotions.
- 6:41Speaker 4: It truly is. No, it truly is. And that's one
- 6:43Speaker 4: of my favorites.
- 6:44Speaker 6: I had a Hilipino cheese croissant from Fillings and Emotions
- 6:47Speaker 6: or feelings and Emotions, and it was amazing. I'm actually
- 6:51Speaker 6: really excited for their their new location because it's a
- 6:54Speaker 6: little bit better. It's not tucked as much out on
- 6:56Speaker 6: Main Street, so we'll see how they do in that
- 6:59Speaker 6: space there.
- 7:00Speaker 4: But yeah, that.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Raspberry roll is, isn't it though.
- 7:03Speaker 3: It's surprising, But.
- 7:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I challenge everybody to just go on there and
- 7:07Speaker 6: to look. And I challenge you, if you're a home baker,
- 7:09Speaker 6: to go on and apply for that, because truly, I
- 7:12Speaker 6: want to taste what you have.
- 7:14Speaker 1: To after you're always looking for.
- 7:16Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm a baker myself, and so there was that
- 7:19Speaker 6: inkling in my in the back of my head that
- 7:20Speaker 6: I was like, should I try it? I mean, I'm
- 7:22Speaker 6: not going to tell you what I think would work
- 7:24Speaker 6: with in the market, because then I just let my
- 7:26Speaker 6: secrets out.
- 7:28Speaker 4: But if you do think.
- 7:29Speaker 6: You have an idea or you want to run that
- 7:32Speaker 6: idea past me, go to my Instagram Donut Critic and
- 7:36Speaker 6: I'm happy to give you a take on it. And
- 7:38Speaker 6: if you want me to try them and give you
- 7:40Speaker 6: a you know, honest opinion, I will do that.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Is chocolate covered bumblebees.
- 7:46Speaker 4: Is yes, no grasshoppers for sure.
- 7:50Speaker 5: Somebody's asking if you have a recommendation for an allergy
- 7:53Speaker 5: friendly bakery.
- 7:56Speaker 6: An allergy friendly bakery, So I mean that's death only
- 8:00Speaker 6: wide because what type of allergy first?
- 8:03Speaker 4: If it's nuts and or gluten.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Maybe, yeah, maybe we need more information.
- 8:08Speaker 6: Yeah, if you if you want to go ahead and
- 8:09Speaker 6: message me on donut Critic, I'm happy to help narrow
- 8:12Speaker 6: those down. There are gluten free, there are nut free
- 8:15Speaker 6: bakeries out there, so.
- 8:17Speaker 2: The donut critic on Instagram, yep, and just look for
- 8:20Speaker 2: that and you can communicate with you and all these
- 8:23Speaker 2: are just all of these things are really good and
- 8:26Speaker 2: they're like hidden. It's almost like you've just discovered something
- 8:30Speaker 2: that's yeah, in a way, like.
- 8:31Speaker 6: I said, I'm teaching you how to fish because like
- 8:35Speaker 6: you wouldn't know. You have friends, you have family, and
- 8:37Speaker 6: then you have maybe some neighbors that have given you
- 8:39Speaker 6: these things. But some of those old recipes from Grandma's
- 8:42Speaker 6: or people that have worked in you know places back
- 8:45Speaker 6: east or you know out west, in these restaurants and
- 8:48Speaker 6: they've developed these recipes and now they're bringing them to us.
- 8:51Speaker 6: Like that's how you discover it. It's through an app
- 8:53Speaker 6: or through a way like this.
- 8:55Speaker 3: I'm trying to find it on Apple and I'm not.
- 8:59Speaker 4: I will help you after that, but like the best
- 9:01Speaker 4: way to.
- 9:02Speaker 6: Do it is to go to their Instagram, click on
- 9:04Speaker 6: the link and then it will forward you out Their
- 9:07Speaker 6: instagram is doesn't do ye doesn't?
- 9:10Speaker 1: I went don't dot app and that site is for sale.
- 9:13Speaker 4: Yeah, it's not.
- 9:14Speaker 6: It's not on on the the internet. Doesn't dot app
- 9:18Speaker 6: because you're right. But if you go to the Okay
- 9:21Speaker 6: Instagram click from the link, then it'll get you to those.
- 9:25Speaker 1: So you got to go to Instagram, which is a
- 9:28Speaker 1: great place to go anyway because there's lots of good pictures.
- 9:31Speaker 6: And they've highlighted some of the bakers too. It's really
- 9:34Speaker 6: a fun way to go and see their stories. I
- 9:37Speaker 6: was reading them just the other day and it again,
- 9:40Speaker 6: it's just funny.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Meet the bakerfile o.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Nice.
- 9:44Speaker 6: Yeah, And some of them that you're trying to they
- 9:46Speaker 6: have small profiles. They're all, you know, people that want
- 9:50Speaker 6: to start or earn that extra money. They have a
- 9:52Speaker 6: really good recipe and then they know if they can
- 9:54Speaker 6: do it, you know, depending on what that life circumstance was.
- 9:57Speaker 6: And and that's what I think this has all been
- 9:59Speaker 6: a about for us, is me bringing in these small businesses,
- 10:04Speaker 6: being able to highlight the things that are awesome and
- 10:07Speaker 6: delicious that a lot of people aren't seeing. And so
- 10:09Speaker 6: does an app is definitely one of those things that
- 10:12Speaker 6: you can do to immediately do it.
- 10:14Speaker 5: Like here's the woman that has the key lime pie cookie.
- 10:18Speaker 5: She started baking during COVID and and trying to give
- 10:23Speaker 5: people a little love that way, and she just kept
- 10:26Speaker 5: it going.
- 10:27Speaker 1: All right, well, this is this is incredible.
- 10:29Speaker 2: It's Ben Lee, the Donut Critic. Find him on Instagram
- 10:35Speaker 2: and take advantage of.
- 10:37Speaker 4: This from this is really good.
- 10:39Speaker 6: Yeah, and if you want me to try something, let
- 10:41Speaker 6: me know. All right, Thank you very much, Ben, all Right,
