- Robin Axline: Hey everybody, welcome to Petty Ununbothered. My name is Robyn, I'm a creative multi-hyphenate improviser and I'm ready for all the randomness that you didn't know you needed. ⁓ let's give a welcome to my co-host. Tita Lors: I'm Lora, T. The Lors, and I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist. I be bringing you the professional insights, allegedly. Robin Axline: Yes, all right. So let's get started. First of all, I just want to say that I'm happy to host this as a ⁓ first run at our show. It's going to be exciting. It's going to get a little crazy sometimes, I think. And we're going to be talking about pettiness, ⁓ petty but satisfying, but also get into the real feels whenever that arises. And so the first thing... Tita Lors: Probably. ⁓ Mm. Mm-hmm. Robin Axline: I would like to bring up is Lora, what is a petty thing you did this week? Tita Lors: ⁓ no. now I know how you felt earlier. ⁓ Robin Axline: Just like something could be really small. Tita Lors: I know, I'm trying to think, what's the pettiest thing I did this week? You know, I out kids day, every day. Mostly a toddler who's really mean. Yeah. And she wakes up, my second born, all ⁓ parents of second borns, they know that ones, they wake up and they choose violence every day. Every ⁓ day. ⁓ Robin Axline: you. ⁓ ⁓ Tita Lors: Yeah, so it's probably going to relate to them somehow. Let me think. Hmm. So is this petty? I feel like a lot of my petty stuff that I do is just subtly petty. ⁓ Like I... Gosh. ⁓ Maybe I'm a bad parent, but... ⁓ I know, seriously. Okay. So they've been fighting a lot of two girls and they're fighting a lot. And because the little one, again, chooses violence every day, she will punch. Robin Axline: Hmm Spit it out! You just let him have at it. Tita Lors: the bigger one, but also the bigger one will then scratch her. And so my maybe petty thing that I did this week is like, okay, what do you want me to do about this? is yeah, yeah, like, yeah, okay. Figure it out. Do it like a five year old and a three year old. Robin Axline: Hey. Mm. Tita Lors: Figure it out between the two of you. You woke me up really early this morning and you both chose violence this morning. So I'm just like, work it out between the two of you and see, I wanna see what happens. Which, who's gonna win this time? Who's, ⁓ you know, if it gets bloody, I'll intervene. But for now. Robin Axline: ⁓ okay. Ha. Tita Lors: I'm really curious. Is my big one, will she actually defend herself? What's gonna happen here? I should have. I really should have. Yeah, you know, Ryan wasn't here, so I couldn't have, but ⁓ I really think we should start placing bets on them and just being like, what happens this time? Who's gonna win? You're crying. But also, who started it? What happened right before that? Robin Axline: Did you like, ⁓ play some bets and... Yeah. For reals. Hmm. Yeah. Right. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Hey, that sounds kind of fun, in a way. Make ⁓ lemonade out of lemons. Tita Lors: Tell me more and then we'll see. Whose side am I on? ⁓ What am I doing? What are we? Yeah, seriously. It just becomes entertaining at that point that I'm not mad anymore. Robin Axline: Yeah, for reals. That's cool. Yeah, I honestly, that just reminded me, I have three brothers and I think my parents just really just let them have out at most of the time. And if somebody like knocks out a tooth or something, it's like, well, that's life. So there's only so much you can do. Tita Lors: Yeah. Mm-hmm. You Uh-huh. Yeah, seriously. No, really, there really is. Like I understand so much now. And I actually, never thought I would say this to my kids, but the whole, ⁓ well, why do I have to do that? Because I said so. Like, I don't have any other explanation. Yeah. Robin Axline: It's such a trope, but it still, yeah, still reigns true. ⁓ Tita Lors: Yeah, right? And as a kid, was so annoying to hear that. like, because I said so, wasn't a good enough reason. ⁓ But also the reason you want your window down when it's freezing cold outside, there's really no reason for that. So put your damn window up. Robin Axline: Yeah. ⁓ man, that's crazy. Tita Lors: Goodness. Yeah. Is that petty too? just being a parent? Yeah. What's the pettiest thing you did this week? Robin Axline: ⁓ Well, you could be. Yeah, that's fair. ⁓ Shoot. I don't know how petty this is, but I'll just... This was actually yesterday. trains are just a mess right now because of the blizzard ⁓ in New York City, but ⁓ I was on a train ⁓ it basically announced... Tita Lors: Hahaha Mm-hmm. Robin Axline: it's stopping at the station and everybody has to get off the train. So I was like, of course I had plans. And so this was not ideal. I go up, I look for the bus because on the announcement they're like, well, you could take the bus. Okay. So everybody's looking for the bus, figuring out which one. then this woman, this Tita Lors: Huh! Robin Axline: I don't know what it is, but I feel like I attract lost people in New York. just literally attach themselves to me and figure it out for me. Help. I've literally called Ubers for people. I've walked people to places. I've... No. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. ⁓ my gosh. It's cause you're so kind. Like you have such a kindness to you. Like you, you know, if, I was lost in New York, I'd be like, she looks like she won't murder me. And she might actually tell me where to go. Yes. I would also, I know seriously. I would definitely have walked up to you too. Robin Axline: Ha ha, fair. Wow, so much trust. you But yeah, so this woman just like attaches herself, she like grabs my arm and stuff and she's like, like, I just don't know what to do. And I'm like, ⁓ no, like not this again, because it's so common for me. then ⁓ I'm like, all right, in my head, I'm like, I have to get back. I was supposed to meet somebody for lunch. And so I was like really on a time thing. Tita Lors: Whoa. ⁓ ⁓ huh. Robin Axline: I was like, all right, ⁓ well, this is the bus stop and, you know, my phone says this, I'm trying to be nice, but then I also like not like, she's not going to keep up with me to get to the bus stop for one, not two. So I kind of like look around and there's like one guy that looks kind of like he would be fine. Like not, she wouldn't be in danger or something. And I'm like, yeah. So I'm just kind of like, ⁓ it looks like that guy's, Tita Lors: Yeah. He's not gonna murder her either. Robin Axline: doing the bus thing too, which he was because I saw him on the train. So I was like, ⁓ okay, well, I think we're all going to the same place. And then I just kind of look and she starts walking towards him and I just like dip. And I was like, I don't know, I don't know if that's petty, but for me, I was like, you know, this is kind of like for me, like almost getting back at like all these times where I've like made myself late to something to like. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Robin Axline: do something extra. And this time I was like, you know what? No, I'm not gonna. So I, but I did like, at least I gave her an alternative. So I'd say I'd say that's my pettiness for the week. Tita Lors: other people. See ya! Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I mean, like, like in the first episode that we just recorded, right? The question was, is it petty or is it just appropriate boundaries? ⁓ Right? So I think, I think that would fall under appropriate boundaries, for sure. Like, you can't always be making yourself late just because other people like me are lost. Robin Axline: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. ⁓ my gosh. Yeah. ⁓ man. Yeah, thanks. So... ⁓ Tita Lors: Yeah, good question. Robin Axline: One of my biggest passions, I would say, is ⁓ pop culture. I feel like I like to kind of follow trends and that sort of thing. So I'm going to share you one thing, a segment I've kind of whipped up for now. I would say it's called a pettiness corner. And mostly has to do with like pop culture or celebrities. And we'll see where it goes. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Thank you. Love it. Mm-hmm. Yeah! Okay. Robin Axline: But I'm going to try this out. So this one was inspired by the... much needed Hilary Duff Renaissance that we are witnessing in the year of our Lord 2026. Tita Lors: Yeah, she is. Yeah, she it's like, I know a lot of the moms are like, yes, you can have a kid that you can have a career, take a step back and focus on your family and have children and then come back and be just as badass as you were when you first started your career to like not that she ever actually left left. She did take a step back. But like now she's she is Robin Axline: Yeah. Left. She's like full force, like, doing the media circuit. ⁓ Tita Lors: back baby. Mm-hmm. And she looks amazing! Yes. Robin Axline: Truly, truly, like whoever or whatever she's, yeah, whatever it is. ⁓ Tita Lors: Yeah, whatever your regimen. Yeah, I need you to drop the ⁓ regimen that you have there so the rest of us moms can, you if we so choose, if we maybe want to, can get on that track. Robin Axline: Yeah, seriously. so mad props to her for getting back out there and what's wild is she hasn't had much of a music career, I would say, since, I don't know, early or mid aughts, something like that. I mean, sounds right, because she's done more acting, but yeah. So, okay, I admit. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Robin Axline: I fully listened to her newest album. And like, there's a couple that just run on repeat in my head, like, I can't even help it. Like, Earworms, if you will. ⁓ And some of the songs, some of the songs are like pretty petty too, I would say. Like, it kind of brings up some, like, hot goss. Like, she's got, apparently, it hasn't totally come out, but... Tita Lors: Like... ⁓ my goodness. ⁓ okay. What are the wrecks? Give the wrecks. Ooh. Uh-huh. Robin Axline: some kind of beef with her sister where they're estranged, which sounds interesting but also sad. And there's like a song about it. It's like, we don't talk or something. Yeah, anyway, it's not even like a genre that I'm that into, but I think the Mwenni Elomi is like, all right, let's see what's going on. So here's what came up is a question. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. ⁓ yeah. ⁓ god. Yeah. Robin Axline: Do you think it's supportive or do you think it's extra when your partner claps back online for something that is like a you issue? I call this one when husbands enter the group chat. Cause ⁓ basically like if something like it's like your battle, but then like your partner or whoever it is, like Tita Lors: Okay. Yeah. Robin Axline: takes the keyboard and fights for you kind of thing. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah, okay. So I'm gonna bring this down to I'm not a superstar person. ⁓ Like an actual group chat, right? So if... Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Would I find that supportive? I think it would depend. It might depend on like what the fight is about and how aggressive he comes at it because... Robin Axline: Yeah. Or like any... it could even be IRL. But... Or extra. . Tita Lors: It could be extra if right like if he's being like overly aggressive and it's unnecessary maybe but if if he's being like mindfully supportive and like, you know, then yeah, it's hard to say it could it could go both ways. I feel like I'm like I'm thinking about our two husbands and I'm like Robin Axline: Mm-hmm. True. Oh, yeah. Tita Lors: Yeah, I feel like Ryan tends to go into things more brute force and I feel like Ian is a lot calmer. Robin Axline: Yeah, yeah, I mean, for the most part, yeah, I've had some situations where he knew like, I was having a hard time dealing with it. So he was like, here, let me do it. And it might've been like a little too intense, but, and I was like, I don't know. I mean, like turned out fine, but at the time it kind of stressed me out that he got so intense trying to like fight for my honor kind of thing. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Yeah. much. huh. Uh huh. Oh, uh huh. Yeah, yeah, right. So it could like depend, I guess. But I want to hear maybe we'll have like a verdict at the end of what you love it. Robin Axline: Yeah, so I have a story to share. ⁓ So this is back to the Hilary Duff of it all. So this story kind of piqued my interest. It felt a bit petty. ⁓ It starts out with Ashley Tisdale. I don't know if you... she was like Sweet Life of Zack and Cody Disney Channel. ⁓ yes, of course, right? Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Yes! ⁓ She's ⁓ Sharpay from High School Musical. Yes! Robin Axline: Nice. So she apparently was like in this mom group with celebrities. Like, I don't know, they like were matching outfits and took all these like pictures together and it was like Mandy Moore, Hilary Duff, I don't know, a bunch of those types. And I guess it got Mean Girl Toxic and Ashley Tisdale got all like, thought they're picking on her. And so she wrote this. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Wow. Mm-hmm. Robin Axline: big article for the magazine The Cut and she called it break- ⁓ this is the title breaking up with my toxic mom group. ⁓ Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. ⁓ my gosh! It's like, okay, immediately the millennial in me goes to Facebook. No, not even Facebook, Myspace. Were you ever on Myspace? Yeah, right? Like, you would know there was drama in the friend group when somebody wasn't in the top eight anymore. Robin Axline: Oh, 100%. Mm hmm. Uh huh. Top eight. You Tita Lors: Right? I feel, yeah, she like deleted herself from the top eight or replaced her entire top eight. Like, yikes. And then she, she made that very, very, cause my space was very public about who your friends were. Robin Axline: ⁓ yeah, it was a big deal. I mean Tom was like there but you Yeah. Tita Lors: Yeah, I know. Yeah, he was always your friend. Yeah, but like, you knew when there was beef, you knew when people broke up, you knew when... Yeah, crazy. All right, continue. Yes. Robin Axline: So much drama. Even your music could change, you know? But I'm sure this will come up again and again, but yeah. ⁓ boy. Yeah, so back to the story. Basically, things went sideways, obviously, when this article came out. And one of the members of the mom group, she like took to IG. Tita Lors: ⁓ my gosh, yes! Yeah! Yeah! You Robin Axline: and posted some Cardi B video that threw some shade at her that was clearly a subtweet vibe. so then on top of that, Hilary Duff's husband somehow gets sucked into the lore. His name is Matthew Coma. He's an indie musician and producer. He makes some pretty good music, but Tita Lors: ⁓ no. Okay. Robin Axline: Anywho, he fully escalates this and goes on IG and posts an old paparazzi photo of Ashley looking bad. Like she has like no glam, no makeup, no hair. And she has like a face that's like, I'm not having it, like, get away from me. And he puts it on IG. Tita Lors: What the? That's just rude. Mm-hmm. Yeah. ⁓ my gosh. Yeah. No caption. Robin Axline: And it's like, with no ⁓ context. Just like, yeah, so like an unflattering picture. Tita Lors: That's so rude. ⁓ Robin Axline: So then I'm just like, what the f- this is a crazy weird story. So then Ashley's husband sees that and he takes to Instagram, of course. Again, with like no context, name is like Christopher Fringe. Yeah, Christopher Fringe is his name. But he does like this cryptic IG post where it's like an image and it's in his stories actually and it says Tita Lors: Uh-huh. Defend her honor, damn it. Robin Axline: It's your choice to focus. no, it was it was it it. ⁓ no, it was your choice whether or not to engage. So it's like, OK, all right, then the this is so crazy. Hillary Duff's husband goes back on IG and he's like makes a fake magazine cover of the cut where the article was from, and he's like sitting in a chair like this. Tita Lors: Okay. ⁓ Mm-hmm. Robin Axline: ⁓ hand under his chin and the caption on the magazine says, mom group tell all through a father's eyes. When you're the most clearly, clearly that he would like go on Photoshop and make this. ⁓ but it's like a mom group tell all through a father's eyes. When you're the most self-obsessed tone deaf person on earth, other moms tend to shift focus to their actual toddlers. Tita Lors: Uh-huh. He has time. Yes! Yes! Robin Axline: And that's it. So it's like really clear that it's not like ⁓ it couldn't be misinterpreted, I guess. ⁓ Yeah, he's like all in at that point. And then I didn't really. Tita Lors: Uh-huh. Yeah, uh-huh. Direct shots or shots fired or like, what's the term? ⁓ my gosh, brain work. Right, but he's like directly firing at her. You know it. Robin Axline: know that much about it until there was a Call Her Daddy ⁓ interview with Hilary Tuff. And she's like, kind of gives her a side of the drama. And basically all I took from it was like, man, grown men, subtweeting about a mom group is just like, It's like, you know, like a old story, like a boyfriend jumps in on an argument and then makes everything worse. I just... Tita Lors: haha Yeah Mm-hmm. ⁓ my gosh. Robin Axline: I don't know, I felt like this was pretty damn petty. Right. Yeah, he probably didn't do it. Yeah. Tita Lors: Yeah, especially that last post like you had I I'm still stuck on like how much time it had to have taken for you to create that post for you to like Take the picture and ⁓ use Canva or whatever. It that you used Photoshop Yeah, right like send that to somebody to have them do it make it happen and then like that long ass title, like all of the things to create that you had times are on your hat. Like you really thought this out. Yeah, seriously. Did Hillary, yeah, sorry, question. Did Hillary Duff find it supportive? Robin Axline: It's pretty wild. So. ⁓ no, no, go ahead. You know, I really couldn't- she was like very neutral about it. I couldn't really like get a vibe check. Like, I don't know, like I think she was just kind of like recounting it like, well, this is what happens. I mean, I don't know, it's hard. Because who knows, maybe they were mean girls and... Yeah. Tita Lors: Uh-huh. Mm-hmm. Man, yeah. Yeah, maybe. It's hard to get like to put a verdict, I guess, out there because part of my decision making on this would have been whether or not the moms, the wives themselves found it supportive. And if they were okay with it, because then it would have been like, well, yeah, you know your wife. So, you know, if she wants you to be her knight in shining armor, then do it. Fuck it. Robin Axline: Yeah. ⁓ Tita Lors: Right like that would have made me laugh. I would have cackled the cackle. I would have cackled if because Ryan doesn't post anything so if he had posted something like that I cackle I would have been like Yeah, first of all, I think I got it. The second of all, what the fuck? did you find the time to do this? Robin Axline: Like, dude, what's going on? man. Yeah. No, no, no, I literally. All right. So to wrap this story up, I've decided that I want to do petty levels with these types of stories that I bring. So. Tita Lors: Yeah, sorry I interrupted you. What were you gonna say earlier? Okay ⁓ Robin Axline: And just to make it fun, like, it's a scale from one to ten, right? And just throwing it out there, I want to do the scale based on something in the story. Like, kind of related. So I've decided after reviewing the story, I'm going to give this a six. And the six is going to be the... Tita Lors: Okay. Okay. Mm-hmm. Okay. Robin Axline: Disney Channel commercial breaks involving when a kid draws the mouse ears. I don't know if you're familiar with that, but the kid would have a wand and then draw the mouse ears and then that would be during the commercial break. So I'm going to give it six mouse ears. Tita Lors: No, yeah, I am. I'm seeing it happen. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Oh, I see what you're saying. I'm like, wait, I'm sure when I review the tapes, it's just going to be my brain processing. Okay. Six mouse ears, levels of pettiness. Hmm. How petty do I... Yeah. No. I mean, okay. I'm thinking so Sharpay's character was very petty. Robin Axline: No. And you can think of something else too. It doesn't have to be my same one. Lizzie McGuire? Tita Lors: right. So on a scale, I guess, let's see. What was the name of Hillary Duff's character? Yes, Lizzie McGuire. on it, because I feel like Lizzie McGuire had no pettiness in her. She was very just like, she's, I'm just a girl. Right? Yeah, like, her friend Miranda was more like the, you know, more the one who'd be like, let's go do something about it. Right? Yeah. And she was so on a scale from Lizzie McGuire to Ashley Tisdale. Robin Axline: Yeah, I'd say for the most part. For what I even remember. Fair, yeah. I love that. Tita Lors: I'm going so from zero hmm who would be in I would say that this is a try to think of another Disney character Have you ever watched Twitch's? Robin Axline: Can't say I have. It's all good. Tita Lors: ⁓ no! ⁓ Okay, okay, okay. Let me think. Xenon. Have you ever watched Xenon? Okay, okay. Yes! Literally all of them. Yes, I say that to my girls all the time. And they're just like, why are you saying that? Robin Axline: Yeah, of course. of course. And Xenon is equal. Zetus Lepidus. Zoom, zoom, zoom. Make my heart go boom, boom, boom. Yeah, your girls are probably like, what is going on? Tita Lors: What kind of language is this? I will indoctrinate you children, don't you worry, it's gonna happen. Thank you. I would say, what was the name of the mean girl in that movie? Robin Axline: Nice. Good mom. ⁓ man, I... Seriously, I've drawn a blank. People in their cars are screaming right now. We're gonna get so much hate mail. Tita Lors: her. Me too! Okay, hold on. I know! Okay, okay, I'm gonna look it up because I can't, I can't take it. Okay, Margie! Who? Yeah, by the she's like a therapist now and I am, ⁓ yeah, she's really, really Okay, subtle. I'm Robin Axline: Yeah, ⁓ ⁓ ⁓ ⁓ Tita Lors: from California, so in LA and everybody has met a movie star, right? I'm so sidetracking ADHD. So I went to work at this place and, or work or volunteer, volunteering. I was volunteering at a hospital and I like ran into this person and I was like, God, you look so familiar. And I just kissed and I would like see her every time I went to volunteer and I was like, has anyone ever told you? She goes, yes, I am. Robin Axline: Ha ha Tita Lors: it that's their me her she is I we are and I was like oh wow okay try not to be starstruck try not to be starstruck try not to like ask a million and one questions why aren't you doing it anymore blah blah blah blah blah um but I was like hi you're here really really kind really nice like and at least to me I like how old was I maybe like early ⁓ 20s, and she was nice to me, and that whole interaction didn't feel or or anything. It was very much just like, yes, that's me. But I could tell was like, can we move on ⁓ from this? ⁓ Yes, and I was like, yes, of course, naturally. ⁓ Let me continue. You continue with your life, I will continue. ⁓ Robin Axline: Wow, Wow. Hey. Tita Lors: with mine and not be so damn like star strong. Yeah, no, and then actually the place that I ended up working after I got my masters and all that stuff. I think I ended up working at another place that she worked at too afterwards. I was like, I swear I'm not stalking you. We weren't there at the same time, but she ended up. Robin Axline: Yeah, totally. No, mean, that happens. That's awesome. ⁓ wow, small world. Yeah. Tita Lors: I know, seriously, I was like, sorry, I'm so sorry, I'm not stalking you. I'm just ending up in the same place as you're ending up somehow, I don't know. But yeah, okay, anyways, Margie, sorry, circling back. Yes, yes, yes, circling back. So on a scale from Lizzie McGuire to Sharpay, I give this a Margie. Robin Axline: Pretty cool. All right. So, ⁓ so how are we going to rate this? Mmm, snaps. Okay. Tita Lors: Yes, because it's just petty enough. She would do like vindictive-ish type of things like to get back at Zenon, or not get back at Zenon, but like to jab at Zenon and stuff like that, but it wouldn't be like... Robin Axline: ⁓ yeah. Well, we're on a one to ten as Margie though. numbers. Mm-hmm. Okay. Yeah. Sounds about right. Tita Lors: horrible. Like no one's gonna die. Good, okay. Yeah, I think in the middle, like, I probably agree with you, like a six-ish. Yeah, right? No one, it's just petty enough, no one's gonna die, no one's actually getting hurt, hurt. Your feelings are getting hurt, but you can go to therapy, figure that out there. It'll be okay. Yeah, right? Robin Axline: Yeah. Right, so everybody like take a chill pill. Pretty much. Yeah, touch grass. Yep. So, okay. So after that, I just want to do like a call to action regarding this for all of our dear listeners. Tita Lors: Yes, seriously, Go outside and touch grass or something. It'll be fine. Yeah. Yes. Robin Axline: Basically, alright, I have a couple ideas. If your partner has ever made a situation better or way worse by getting involved, let us know. That's the first one. ⁓ Now I'm thinking, here's the other one. Are you team ride or die defend your partner publicly or are you team please log off and let me handle it? Tita Lors: Uh-huh. Mm-hmm. Yeah. ⁓ Robin Axline: So like defend me or that kind of thing or just like trust that your partner's got it. ⁓ man on the spot. I would say the majority of my feelings towards that would... I like the ride or die of it all but truly I f- Tita Lors: Uh-huh. know this is a call to action, I want to know what your answer is. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Robin Axline: I'm more in the camp of let me handle it. Because it's like, I know what I need. I'm not going to rely on a partner to decide, like... Even if they want to help really bad, I just err on the side of, let me do it. I appreciate your support. You got my back, I got your back, but we're good. What about you? Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think I am on the, ⁓ like ride or die, but like on the side. And let me have like, want like, yeah, support me, but from over there and let me be the front spokesperson for what I'm doing because I'm pretty sure I've got it. And if I need your help, then shit's really bad. Yeah, like shit has hit the fan. Robin Axline: Yeah, okay. Yeah. huh. Right? ⁓ Fair, fair. Let's ⁓ huh. Cool. That's a great answer. ⁓ So yeah, I think that about wraps it up for today. I would. ⁓ Tita Lors: ⁓ huh. Yeah. Okay. Robin Axline: Just to remind everybody to stay petty and keep listening. We got more good episodes coming up. Tita Lors: Yeah.
