- 0:00Speaker 1: I believe everything is going.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Are you rolling on the quick Time? Donald?
- 0:04Speaker 1: No, I record on the Zoom? Still brody?
- 0:07Speaker 2: Oh you go old school since the beginning.
- 0:10Speaker 1: You know, since we started this bad Boy, I try
- 0:13Speaker 1: to keep it old school for all of the heads
- 0:16Speaker 1: out there. You know what I'm saying, For all you
- 0:17Speaker 1: old school heads out there, I keep it old school.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I don't. I don't subscribe to the quick Time. I don't.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I don't do that. I stick with the Zoom. I
- 0:27Speaker 1: have to. I have to travel with the zoom. Yeah,
- 0:30Speaker 1: you know I do. I have upgraded to the Sony camera.
- 0:34Speaker 1: But you know, looks good. And you talk about your stuff.
- 0:38Speaker 2: I don't want to talk about that ship. I don't
- 0:40Speaker 2: want to talk about how much I miss you, how much.
- 0:42Speaker 2: It's how long it's been since we've gathered.
- 0:45Speaker 3: It's been a year.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I don't know what it's going to air. But it's
- 0:48Speaker 2: January seventh, listeners. We haven't been together in a very
- 0:52Speaker 2: long time.
- 0:53Speaker 1: It's been a minute. I'm still sober.
- 0:57Speaker 2: I know, let's talk about this. Donald and I are
- 0:59Speaker 2: doing dry January. I started early. I think I started
- 1:05Speaker 2: the twenty seventh, So.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I started the thirtieth.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Okay, so and you're also off weed still, dude, I'm
- 1:14Speaker 2: so proud of you. How long for your weed?
- 1:17Speaker 1: Over a month? Now?
- 1:18Speaker 2: Underous applause? Daniel, that's the worst applause indeed, and an audience.
- 1:23Speaker 2: I just want to clarify. I'm not to each their own.
- 1:25Speaker 2: You love weed, you love weed, But my friend Donald
- 1:28Speaker 2: was smoking a fuck ton of weed, and I don't
- 1:31Speaker 2: think that I think doctors would agree that the amount
- 1:34Speaker 2: of weed he was smoking was not good for him.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I don't know you said, you said say that, but
- 1:39Speaker 1: the Surgeon General.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Is supposed to smoke weed morning to night. Bro.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I you know, I don't know all of that. That's
- 1:45Speaker 1: not what freaked me out about the surgeon General. What
- 1:48Speaker 1: the surgeon General said about alcohol is what freaked me out.
- 1:52Speaker 2: I'm also well, yeah, but yet you also stopped weed.
- 1:55Speaker 2: So what was your impact? What was your catalyst for that?
- 1:58Speaker 1: I was just doing it too much, and I wasn't
- 1:59Speaker 1: very present with my wife, and I wasn't present with
- 2:01Speaker 1: my children, and you know, I thought it was I
- 2:05Speaker 1: thought it was time. But I'll tell you, man, stopping
- 2:08Speaker 1: the weed threw me down. This this uh, what's the
- 2:13Speaker 1: what's the word I'm looking for? Paranoia, spiral. And I
- 2:20Speaker 1: went to the doctor and I freaking every blood test
- 2:26Speaker 1: I could possibly get.
- 2:27Speaker 2: All these things you got in your head about your
- 2:30Speaker 2: health after you got off.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Oh absolutely, because I started coughing all of these things.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I went to the doctor and took that blood test.
- 2:37Speaker 1: You can only take it when you're fifty. I forget
- 2:41Speaker 1: the name of it, but it tests for over fifty
- 2:43Speaker 1: types of cancer too. Yeah, and I did it, and
- 2:49Speaker 1: I'm cancer free. I'm here to report and say.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I still think you're saying like you beat cancer.
- 2:55Speaker 1: No. I mean, but no. Man, Like the way I
- 2:59Speaker 1: felt after the was out of my was trying to
- 3:03Speaker 1: leave my system. You know, it doesn't want to leave,
- 3:05Speaker 1: It's it wants to stay. It's like, what are you
- 3:08Speaker 1: doing you?
- 3:08Speaker 2: Yeah, well, dude, you were in serious withdrawal. I mean
- 3:10Speaker 2: you you were a morning to night smoker. How long
- 3:12Speaker 2: did did you feel withdrawal symptoms?
- 3:15Speaker 1: I still feel it now. It's it's you know, it's
- 3:18Speaker 1: a month and a half in and you know the
- 3:22Speaker 1: cravings have started back up. You know. I work out
- 3:26Speaker 1: at a gym and sometimes these cats come in. It's
- 3:29Speaker 1: a private gym, and sometimes these cats come in smelling
- 3:32Speaker 1: like loud, and that shit is like, oh, you smell
- 3:36Speaker 1: so good. But I know I don't want to do
- 3:38Speaker 1: that shit anymore, you know what I mean. And then
- 3:41Speaker 1: you know, since my birthday, all of this alcohol has
- 3:44Speaker 1: been in the house and it's you know, walking by
- 3:47Speaker 1: it and looking at it is is a bit torturous.
- 3:50Speaker 1: But I'm not going to throw it out because it's
- 3:52Speaker 1: so much money and I paid for it, and I
- 3:54Speaker 1: don't necessarily intend to ever drink again, like I don't
- 3:57Speaker 1: want to drink again, especially after with the after what
- 4:00Speaker 1: the surgeon General said. But you know, I have a
- 4:03Speaker 1: fear of not death, but just not being here for
- 4:06Speaker 1: my children, and so because of that.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Well, dude, I only am happy for you. I really
- 4:12Speaker 2: am happy for you because I know, I know you
- 4:14Speaker 2: and I love you, and I know that smoking weed
- 4:18Speaker 2: is something you've been relying on for a long time.
- 4:22Speaker 2: And I know how you're not the only morning to
- 4:25Speaker 2: evening smoker. I know, I know how hard it is
- 4:27Speaker 2: for people to kick it. Yeah, so I applaud you
- 4:30Speaker 2: for doing it. And then and then, you know, the
- 4:33Speaker 2: logical thing would be like, all right, I'll just I'll
- 4:35Speaker 2: just drink at night instead, and then you you're at
- 4:38Speaker 2: least auditioning giving that up too, So.
- 4:40Speaker 1: That's I'm not auditioning. I just don't want to drink anymore,
- 4:43Speaker 1: bro like after hearing about cancer, and you know, even
- 4:48Speaker 1: the foods we eat and stuff like that, like everything is.
- 4:51Speaker 1: You know, I'm a fifty year old man, and you
- 4:54Speaker 1: hate to say, yeah, man, like I have most of
- 4:57Speaker 1: my years most of the you know, I don't think
- 5:01Speaker 1: I'll live another fifty years. You know, it would be
- 5:03Speaker 1: great if I did, but the chances of doing that
- 5:05Speaker 1: are slim.
- 5:06Speaker 3: You know.
- 5:06Speaker 2: I lost my aunt recently. Sorry, I loved very much,
- 5:12Speaker 2: and she was I believe eighty five, and my dad
- 5:16Speaker 2: made it to eighty four, and I just he was
- 5:18Speaker 2: she was his sister, and I couldn't help but think like, wow,
- 5:23Speaker 2: so I've got like my family's trending towards the mid eighties. Yeah,
- 5:28Speaker 2: which means I've got thirty five ish left. I mean,
- 5:31Speaker 2: I hope I get more, but thirty five ish years left.
- 5:33Speaker 2: It's a crazy thing to think about. Like when you
- 5:37Speaker 2: get to be our age fifty, I'm going turn fifteen
- 5:40Speaker 2: in April. You started thinking about like, well, well, how
- 5:43Speaker 2: many do I got left? And then my aunt passed away.
- 5:46Speaker 2: She had a long, full life, and it was an
- 5:49Speaker 2: amazing person. But you can't help but think like, oh, God,
- 5:54Speaker 2: looks like my family's uh, my family's making it to
- 5:57Speaker 2: mid eighties.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Yeah, man, And nobody gets out of this alive. That's
- 6:02Speaker 1: the truth.
- 6:03Speaker 3: But life.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good body.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Put it on his shirt. Life. No one gets out alive.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Yeah, real talk.
- 6:11Speaker 2: But yeah, I'm trying to dry. January, I was in
- 6:14Speaker 2: New York. I'm having so much fun with the Lawrences
- 6:17Speaker 2: and with Andrew Watt and with Josh Raiden, and we
- 6:20Speaker 2: had a blast. I saw a bunch of great shows.
- 6:22Speaker 2: I highly recommend maybe Happy Ending with Darren Chris to people.
- 6:26Speaker 2: That show was fantastic anyway. But yeah, I came back
- 6:31Speaker 2: and I think I just get every year I find
- 6:34Speaker 2: myself surprised by it. But I think I get a
- 6:36Speaker 2: little Sorry, we're not really doing a comedy podcast yet.
- 6:38Speaker 2: We will, But I get a little bit of seasonal
- 6:40Speaker 2: depression around the end of December when it's like dark
- 6:45Speaker 2: where I live. It's like dark at four fifteen, and
- 6:50Speaker 2: I don't know, I just get down on the dumps
- 6:52Speaker 2: and so I just I always know when I get
- 6:55Speaker 2: to that place, I know all the things I can
- 6:57Speaker 2: throw at it, you know, I know how to throw
- 7:00Speaker 2: the kitchen sink at that melancholia. And for me, it's
- 7:03Speaker 2: I have to stop drinking. I have to start working
- 7:05Speaker 2: out more. I have to start eating right. And if
- 7:07Speaker 2: I do all these things, if I do and I meditate,
- 7:10Speaker 2: I I adopted a dog, which is I have officially
- 7:14Speaker 2: foster failed and adopting this wonderful dog, which is a
- 7:17Speaker 2: huge source of serotonin. So I know if I throw
- 7:20Speaker 2: the you know I saw on a cold bunch, all
- 7:22Speaker 2: these things that helped me, I, little by little can
- 7:26Speaker 2: get out of it. But I started feeling those those feelings.
- 7:29Speaker 1: You know, it's really easy to fall into that. It's
- 7:33Speaker 1: so easy to fall into that, especially at our age,
- 7:35Speaker 1: because you no longer feel invincible. You know, when we
- 7:38Speaker 1: were kids. When I was a kid, there's nothing you
- 7:41Speaker 1: could tell I was right too. I was pretty invincible
- 7:44Speaker 1: as a youth, you know what I mean, Like the
- 7:46Speaker 1: shit I did to my body and was able to
- 7:48Speaker 1: wake up the next morning and be like, you know
- 7:52Speaker 1: what I mean. Like, but as time goes on, you
- 7:55Speaker 1: realize that's them days are behind you. Now, it's about
- 7:59Speaker 1: you know, it's it's nature, not nurture. But you know,
- 8:02Speaker 1: I'm gonna try and nurture this ship as much as
- 8:04Speaker 1: I can.
- 8:05Speaker 2: You are nurturing yourself if you start taking actions that
- 8:09Speaker 2: are like, all right, what's gonna help me live the longest?
- 8:12Speaker 2: How do I know? There's so many podcasts and books
- 8:15Speaker 2: out there about like what should you be doing? If
- 8:17Speaker 2: you if you really do want to maximize your time?
- 8:20Speaker 2: What you should what should you be doing?
- 8:22Speaker 1: But it could all end? It could all end in
- 8:24Speaker 1: the next couple of minutes, you know what I mean.
- 8:25Speaker 1: That's how life is bro It could the freaking Earth
- 8:29Speaker 1: could get hit by a rock, or you know what
- 8:32Speaker 1: I mean.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Or you just have one of those mysterious things like
- 8:36Speaker 2: what happened to John Ritter, Like you just fucking don't know,
- 8:39Speaker 2: you just have like right, all of a sudden, bam,
- 8:41Speaker 2: you didn't know you had that gone. We should probably
- 8:45Speaker 2: just be more chipper for the people because it is
- 8:47Speaker 2: the new year, right Daniel. Daniel's here, Joel is having
- 8:50Speaker 2: Uh it's a very wind and some of the power
- 8:55Speaker 2: lines are down, and I think Joel has a power
- 8:57Speaker 2: line issue, right Daniel. Correct, we didn't.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Talk about Jersey like Jersey had UFOs and ship have
- 9:04Speaker 1: a lot to go out.
- 9:05Speaker 2: We can talk about that with Johnny. Because Johnny's a
- 9:07Speaker 2: Jersey boy, he'll be interested in that subject. Daniel, how
- 9:10Speaker 2: are you. How is your break? Your beer is very full?
- 9:13Speaker 2: Thank you, very very full. You know, me and the
- 9:15Speaker 2: wife spent the time we had off moving. We moved
- 9:19Speaker 2: from Queen's to Brooklyn, so now Brooklyn Nights, and we
- 9:23Speaker 2: like the area very much. We're very happy here. You
- 9:25Speaker 2: look like a Brooklyn Knight, thank you. Yeah, but we're
- 9:28Speaker 2: very happy here. We really like the area and it's
- 9:31Speaker 2: been it's been very kind to us as family here.
- 9:33Speaker 2: It's been nice. But I will say, you know, I
- 9:35Speaker 2: took the last three weeks of the year off intending
- 9:37Speaker 2: to relax, but then it was spent entirely packing boxes,
- 9:42Speaker 2: unpacking boxes, you know, setting up you know, facilities and whatnot.
- 9:46Speaker 2: So we had if we had a little bit of
- 9:48Speaker 2: time off, but not maybe as much as I would
- 9:49Speaker 2: have I would have liked. But happy to be here. Well,
- 9:52Speaker 2: congrats on your new place, thank you very much. John
- 9:55Speaker 2: To begin, we have so many topics to talk about.
- 9:58Speaker 2: We have to talk about how you've been gated, keeping doci.
- 10:01Speaker 1: From nobody has been gatekeeping DOCI.
- 10:03Speaker 2: I just learned the expression gatekeeping and I love it.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I have a lot I want to overuse it.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Well, if you think I'm gatekeeping DOCI, I don't want
- 10:10Speaker 1: you to think I'm gatekeeping Leangelo Ball Jello Ball's new
- 10:15Speaker 1: song is fire. Oh my gosh, it is fine. LeVar
- 10:21Speaker 1: Ball three.
- 10:22Speaker 2: For three Dan three for three subjects. I know the object, Daniel,
- 10:28Speaker 2: did you know about DOCI? I am familiar with DOCI.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Doci with two eyes. What do you mean if you're
- 10:35Speaker 2: like me and you're not hip, uh, if you're out
- 10:39Speaker 2: of the loop, you need to check out this young lady.
- 10:42Speaker 2: She is fantastic. D O E c H.
- 10:46Speaker 3: I I.
- 10:48Speaker 1: That is correct.
- 10:49Speaker 2: I know, I'm I know, I'm the last person to
- 10:51Speaker 2: say this, but she reminds me of Lauren Hill No
- 10:53Speaker 2: and that she can rap, she can sing, she's writing
- 10:55Speaker 2: it all. She's beautiful, she's fucking so talented.
- 10:59Speaker 1: She's extreme talented.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Her video that.
- 11:01Speaker 1: I sent you, she told her record label I'm going
- 11:07Speaker 1: to go away and write a record, and they were like,
- 11:09Speaker 1: well what do you have? She's like, on this date,
- 11:12Speaker 1: I'm going to drop a record. They were like, well,
- 11:13Speaker 1: what do you have? She was like, I have nothing,
- 11:16Speaker 1: but I'm going to go do it. And she went
- 11:18Speaker 1: away and did it, came back with it.
- 11:21Speaker 2: But I mean, I'm just blown away. I've been watching.
- 11:24Speaker 2: I went down a rabbit hole watching her little her
- 11:26Speaker 2: tiny desk thing, and her desk.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Was pretty good. Man, desk was fire dude.
- 11:32Speaker 2: And her music video do you remember the name of
- 11:34Speaker 2: the song that I sent you donald with like a
- 11:36Speaker 2: sitcom set, Yeah, Deniala's River.
- 11:40Speaker 1: That's a bunch of artists. That's a bunch of artists
- 11:43Speaker 1: on that though.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Like her music, yeah, or audience, go watch this music
- 11:50Speaker 2: video for Denial of the River. It is so innovative.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Kudos to the directors who I don't know who. I
- 11:56Speaker 2: assume it's their idea or it's her idea or both.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I don't know, but I thought it was so innovative
- 12:01Speaker 2: and cool. I was just smiling through the whole thing,
- 12:04Speaker 2: being like, Wow, what a talent, What an exciting new talent.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Very impressive. She's not very she's not new either. She's
- 12:12Speaker 1: been around for it.
- 12:13Speaker 2: But didn't she young? How old is she? Early twenties?
- 12:15Speaker 1: I don't know that, Dane.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Can you look a look? And I'm curious It reminded
- 12:20Speaker 2: me of Donald Glover, like when he came out with
- 12:23Speaker 2: This is America, but.
- 12:25Speaker 1: He had been around. That's the same thing Donald Glover had.
- 12:28Speaker 1: I stay woke, niggas creeping.
- 12:33Speaker 2: She's twenty six, twenty six. Well, I'm young and very
- 12:37Speaker 2: talented and exciting. All right, that's one topic.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Do you want to LiAngelo? Ball has dropped fire and
- 12:44Speaker 1: here it is for your listening pleasure.
- 12:46Speaker 2: I don't know who Leander and Ball.
- 12:56Speaker 1: I'm kind of fucking we heh okayeloet, Oh my god, Okay.
- 13:04Speaker 1: So he is a basketball player who his father, LaVar Ball,
- 13:10Speaker 1: was saying how his boys are the next stars in
- 13:14Speaker 1: the NBA. And one of them is the top, is
- 13:18Speaker 1: the number one All Star vote getter for guards this year.
- 13:23Speaker 1: The other one just made a comeback to the NBA
- 13:26Speaker 1: after being out for over a year. And now Leangelo,
- 13:30Speaker 1: who didn't make the who made the NBA but kind
- 13:33Speaker 1: of fell off in the NBA, made a record that's
- 13:38Speaker 1: so fire. You play that ship in the gym and
- 13:41Speaker 1: everybody's freaking dancing.
- 13:43Speaker 3: Wow.
- 13:44Speaker 2: It's so he came out of nowhere with a with
- 13:46Speaker 2: a with an album, and he's a basketball player.
- 13:48Speaker 1: And he's a basketball player. But the record is fire.
- 13:52Speaker 1: I think I slept LeVar three for three boy three
- 13:56Speaker 1: for three?
- 13:57Speaker 2: What is three for three mean?
- 13:59Speaker 1: He predict that they would all be stars, and he
- 14:03Speaker 1: was right three for three okay, And and he predicted
- 14:08Speaker 1: it when they were babies too, like when they were
- 14:10Speaker 1: you know one was.
- 14:11Speaker 2: You know one did o' donald. He manifested that.
- 14:13Speaker 1: He did matter, but he did it in such like
- 14:15Speaker 1: the most like craziest way. He was going on television saying,
- 14:22Speaker 1: my boy's gonna be this and my boy's gonna be that.
- 14:24Speaker 1: And people were like, slow your roll, bro, you don't
- 14:27Speaker 1: know what's gonna happen. And he was like, no, they're
- 14:29Speaker 1: gonna be better than such and such and bettter in
- 14:32Speaker 1: and so far three for three on his boys. All right,
- 14:36Speaker 1: if you're going to bet on anybody, I mean, I'm
- 14:39Speaker 1: a bet on my kids. But if you're going to
- 14:41Speaker 1: bet on anybody, that's the right bet.
- 14:43Speaker 2: I guess, well, make sure your kids are also learning
- 14:46Speaker 2: to wrap in addition to learning to be pro athletes.
- 14:49Speaker 1: It's part of the It is a part of the culture.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Now, did you watch I know you didn't watch the episode,
- 14:56Speaker 2: but I was on the show Bookie episode four. This yeah, Rocco,
- 15:02Speaker 2: not inspired by your son. But audience, check out the
- 15:06Speaker 2: show Bookie. It's really funny show. I'm a fan of
- 15:09Speaker 2: the show, and so I told Chuck Lori that and
- 15:12Speaker 2: then he wrote me this part and it's really funny. Donald.
- 15:14Speaker 2: I know you didn't watch the episode, but you watched
- 15:15Speaker 2: the clip I sent you. Of course, did you laugh?
- 15:18Speaker 1: I did? How was I?
- 15:24Speaker 2: That was fun right?
- 15:25Speaker 1: That's pretty impressive, dude. First of all, it's impressive that
- 15:29Speaker 1: Chuck Laurie jumped from multi cam to single cam.
- 15:35Speaker 2: That show is very funny. I don't. I mean, I
- 15:37Speaker 2: don't follow football, I don't follow betting, but I genuinely
- 15:40Speaker 2: liked the show. And you know, Sebastian Monascalco I find
- 15:44Speaker 2: him hilarious. Daniell you ever watch that show? I haven't yet,
- 15:47Speaker 2: but I see it's on Max, so I'll definitely give
- 15:49Speaker 2: it a look. All right, well check it out. You
- 15:50Speaker 2: can start with season two, episode four, and that will
- 15:53Speaker 2: make you love that one. Is Johnny here yet?
- 15:57Speaker 3: No? He is not? All right?
- 15:58Speaker 2: Good? I want to talk about the off because audience,
- 16:01Speaker 2: I have to admit something to you. I had seen
- 16:04Speaker 2: episodes of the Office in my life, but I've never
- 16:07Speaker 2: done a full watch of the series in a row,
- 16:11Speaker 2: and I told you I was having some melancholia, and
- 16:14Speaker 2: I thought, you know what everyone always says, this is
- 16:16Speaker 2: one of the funniest shows of all time. I'm gonna
- 16:19Speaker 2: this will pair nicely with my seasonal depression. And I
- 16:23Speaker 2: cannot tell you how fucking funny that show is. I
- 16:27Speaker 2: know I'm late to the party, everybody again. I had
- 16:30Speaker 2: seen episodes, but I had never done a full watch,
- 16:32Speaker 2: and I'm now I'm in season six, and it is
- 16:35Speaker 2: one of the funniest shows of all time.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Did you laugh when they do the Emperor talking to Anakin? Shit,
- 16:42Speaker 1: don't do it, Michael, and he has the hood over
- 16:45Speaker 1: his head.
- 16:45Speaker 2: I haven't gotten that yet.
- 16:46Speaker 1: That must be a Halloween episode.
- 16:48Speaker 2: Well I must be after where I am because I'm
- 16:50Speaker 2: in season six, not all the way to finish yet.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I think it might be earlier than that. But anyway,
- 16:56Speaker 1: that shit is fun.
- 16:57Speaker 2: I don't want it to be over.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Did you see the episode where Where Where? Where? Uh where?
- 17:02Speaker 1: Dwight comes in dressed as Jim.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Yes?
- 17:07Speaker 1: Did you watch the the the end credits when the
- 17:11Speaker 1: credits are rolling and he's doing Jim yeah, I mean,
- 17:14Speaker 1: looks that shit had me rolling too. Did you watch
- 17:17Speaker 1: the one where Oscar is thrown out of the closeted.
- 17:21Speaker 2: A witch hunt? That episode, and it's one of the
- 17:24Speaker 2: funniest fucking episodes in television I've ever seen. That episode
- 17:29Speaker 2: is one of the funniest episodes of television I've ever seen.
- 17:32Speaker 2: And I can't believe, By the way, when I'm done,
- 17:34Speaker 2: I'm gonna go watch these gag reels because the I
- 17:38Speaker 2: cannot believe that these actors are managed to not laugh.
- 17:41Speaker 2: I'm sure they laugh all the time, but they managed
- 17:43Speaker 2: to when Steve Carrell is doing his thing, and these
- 17:46Speaker 2: and these people all have their straight faces. I just
- 17:49Speaker 2: don't know. If I could do it, I would be biting.
- 17:51Speaker 2: I mean, we obviously you stapping with you, we stapping
- 17:53Speaker 2: on scrubs when it was bad. I would bite the
- 17:55Speaker 2: inside of my cheek. But I'm watching Steve Carrell and
- 17:58Speaker 2: I'm going I would not be able to not be
- 18:01Speaker 2: laughing through this. He's so I mean, obviously, the whole cast.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Everybody's brilliant. Everybody's brilliant. Everyone has their moment to shine. Everything.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Creed says, Creed is.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Like there, Creed is a freaking assassin.
- 18:10Speaker 2: But Creed is like their fucking Rob Maschio the time.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Yeause he got one line in episode and without fail,
- 18:17Speaker 2: I laugh every time.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:21Speaker 2: I just watched an episode work called Murder Work where
- 18:24Speaker 2: they're where they're playing a murder mystery game and Creed
- 18:27Speaker 2: gets to work late, and when he arrives at work,
- 18:31Speaker 2: he says to Michael, sorry, I'm late, and Michael in
- 18:33Speaker 2: character is playing the murder game when he goes, there
- 18:36Speaker 2: has been a murder and we suspect you, and Creed goes, okay,
- 18:41Speaker 2: let me just put my things down and I'll be back,
- 18:43Speaker 2: and then you see him run to his car, and
- 18:50Speaker 2: I feel like we should do a rewatch of the office.
- 18:52Speaker 1: That's where you know what we said that early on?
- 18:55Speaker 2: I know that now I kind of want to do it.
- 18:56Speaker 2: I wish I had done. We should try it, listen.
- 18:59Speaker 2: We could audition and do like three episodes and see
- 19:03Speaker 2: if we enjoy it.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Because I've been audience, I've been sending Donald clips. Some
- 19:09Speaker 2: of them are like Chris shit, I can't believe they
- 19:11Speaker 2: did on television, and these episodes are still up on television.
- 19:14Speaker 2: But I will send Donald like video clips of what
- 19:18Speaker 2: I've been watching, and I'm like just laughing, like, oh
- 19:21Speaker 2: my god, I know what some of you are listening,
- 19:23Speaker 2: going like yeah, bro, we know The Office is funny.
- 19:25Speaker 2: But I feel like those of you out there who
- 19:27Speaker 2: are listening because you love Scrubs, and obviously Donald and
- 19:30Speaker 2: I can't have that kind of relationship with the show
- 19:32Speaker 2: because we're in it, but I feel that with watching
- 19:34Speaker 2: The Office now, where I'm like, I'm so invested in
- 19:37Speaker 2: these people. Love I love this family. They're so bizarre.
- 19:42Speaker 2: But I'm sad to know I'm on season six and
- 19:45Speaker 2: it's gonna have an end, and I know there's a
- 19:47Speaker 2: reboot happening. I know there's a reboot happening, but it
- 19:50Speaker 2: doesn't have the cast. I wish the cast was. I
- 19:52Speaker 2: wish they were doing it. I think it goes to eight,
- 19:57Speaker 2: but Correl's not on seven and eight. And I'm not
- 19:59Speaker 2: going to be a hater. I'm going to be open
- 20:00Speaker 2: to seven and eight. But I can't imagine the show
- 20:02Speaker 2: without Growl because to me, he's He's it's all about him.
- 20:08Speaker 1: He's hilarious when the dude asks him, when the HR
- 20:14Speaker 1: company comes in and they're asking him, all of these questions,
- 20:17Speaker 1: and they're trying to catch him out there and he's
- 20:19Speaker 1: doing his best not to fall off, and they're like,
- 20:22Speaker 1: what are Michael, what are the mountains? And he's he's
- 20:27Speaker 1: holding it in and he goes they rest upon me
- 20:31Speaker 1: Lady's chest.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Oh my god. The fact that when we were talking
- 20:40Speaker 2: to Brian Baumgartner, I, you know again, I had seen
- 20:43Speaker 2: maybe a dozen episodes, But now I wish I could
- 20:46Speaker 2: have him back. I have so many more questions now
- 20:48Speaker 2: that I've fucking binge the whole thing. But man, that
- 20:51Speaker 2: guy is so funny and every single character actor on
- 20:55Speaker 2: that show has a moment to shine. And and I'm
- 20:59Speaker 2: so invested in Jim and Pam. I literally when Jim proposed,
- 21:03Speaker 2: I literally clutched my pearls. I was so caught off hard.
- 21:06Speaker 2: I was like, that's how invested it I was in
- 21:08Speaker 2: the show.
- 21:09Speaker 3: I was like.
- 21:09Speaker 2: And then when they went to when they got married,
- 21:11Speaker 2: and I when they did the little thing with Niagara Falls,
- 21:13Speaker 2: I had like tears in my eyes. I was so invested.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Anyway, Amy Adams early on Amy Adams on.
- 21:19Speaker 2: The show, Amy Adams, there's so many funny, so many funny, uh,
- 21:24Speaker 2: guest stars and it's just a brilliant show. I think,
- 21:27Speaker 2: I'm now I'm going to go back, and you know,
- 21:29Speaker 2: it's funny. I never I never really watched the other
- 21:32Speaker 2: shows that people that love Scrubs would say are in
- 21:35Speaker 2: the spirit of Scrubs, like Community Again, I've seen episodes,
- 21:39Speaker 2: never the whole thing, Parks and rec I've seen episodes,
- 21:41Speaker 2: never the whole thing. But now I'm kind of inspired
- 21:43Speaker 2: and just start watching these shows because we've always heard
- 21:47Speaker 2: you and I like, you know, people that love Scrubs
- 21:50Speaker 2: often like these shows, and and you know, I just
- 21:53Speaker 2: never got around to like sitting and binging them, and
- 21:55Speaker 2: now I am.
- 21:57Speaker 1: That's the question though, the reason why these shows were
- 22:00Speaker 1: so great though, Also it's not just the It's not
- 22:03Speaker 1: just the actors on the show. The writing was so
- 22:05Speaker 1: cutting edge, you know, Grubbs writing was so cutting edge,
- 22:08Speaker 1: and this day and time, you know, you don't really
- 22:12Speaker 1: see this type of writing anymore. You don't see this edgy, edgy.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Well, you can't really be as edgy as as as
- 22:20Speaker 2: Scrubbs was and as The Office was any anymore. Obviously,
- 22:24Speaker 2: on I don't know what do you what are you
- 22:26Speaker 2: saying now? And you're saying you can I don't think
- 22:27Speaker 2: you can be Uh, what are you saying? I think
- 22:31Speaker 2: I think it's it. It feels like it's like a
- 22:33Speaker 2: different kind of edge now, you know, I look at
- 22:36Speaker 2: a lot of like animated shows these days, like, you know,
- 22:38Speaker 2: the kind of edge that like Rick and Morty does
- 22:40Speaker 2: is like it is its own kind of edgy in
- 22:42Speaker 2: a very I don't know edgy way. I think there
- 22:47Speaker 2: were racy There were racy jokes on the office. Larry
- 22:52Speaker 2: Wilmore was one of the head writers. I assume that
- 22:54Speaker 2: he was writing a lot of them. Uh they're hilarious.
- 23:00Speaker 2: I mean, Donald, you agree they're hilarious. But but now
- 23:03Speaker 2: some of them you go, oh, you couldn't. You could
- 23:05Speaker 2: definitely couldn't put that on a TV show, even if
- 23:07Speaker 2: for Larry Wilmore, you can't put that on a TV
- 23:08Speaker 2: show Now. I think the times change and people change
- 23:11Speaker 2: with them.
- 23:12Speaker 1: I do miss some of the edginess, And I know
- 23:14Speaker 1: I could get in trouble for saying that.
- 23:17Speaker 2: In trouble for saying you miss some edgy jokes. I mean,
- 23:19Speaker 2: you fucking Delirious is your favorite comedy special of all time?
- 23:23Speaker 1: It is one of my favorites, and raw that one
- 23:26Speaker 1: and Raw and Raw has some stuff where you know,
- 23:29Speaker 1: you can't tell that joke anymore.
- 23:30Speaker 2: No, not even Eddy could tell those jokes anymore.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Eddie would be like, no, I ain't saying that shit.
- 23:35Speaker 1: You crazy.
- 23:36Speaker 2: We want to announce we're going to have the director
- 23:40Speaker 2: of the year, one of the directors of the year,
- 23:42Speaker 2: John Chu and the editor of my friend Myron Kirstein
- 23:47Speaker 2: of Wicked on the show. That's a big get for us.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Donald, that's a huge git. Holy shit, I can't believe
- 23:52Speaker 1: we did it well. You did it, But I'm gonna
- 23:55Speaker 1: say we did it well. You can say.
- 23:57Speaker 2: You know, you and I have been talking about, you know,
- 24:00Speaker 2: getting guests that are that are were people we really admire.
- 24:04Speaker 2: We have been doing that obviously, but continuing to pursue people,
- 24:08Speaker 2: doesn't matter who they are, if they're a doctor, if
- 24:11Speaker 2: they're a sex therapist, or if they're a director we like,
- 24:13Speaker 2: but just trying to get people that we are really
- 24:15Speaker 2: interested in. And we are both very interested in John
- 24:19Speaker 2: chew and and and what a fantastic job he did
- 24:22Speaker 2: on Wicked.
- 24:23Speaker 1: What's his next movie that he's doing.
- 24:26Speaker 2: I know I read it by the way I read
- 24:27Speaker 2: that he's going to do Joseph, which you and I
- 24:29Speaker 2: really are too old for. But we need to audition
- 24:32Speaker 2: for him when he's on the show.
- 24:33Speaker 1: He's going to do technicolored dreamcro Yes, I don't know
- 24:38Speaker 1: if that's not his next that's not the next one.
- 24:40Speaker 1: There's something else that I've read that's like pretty exciting.
- 24:44Speaker 1: I don't know if it's a musical or not, but
- 24:46Speaker 1: if it is.
- 24:47Speaker 3: He does him.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Well, he's La La Land too, that would be awesome.
- 24:52Speaker 2: No, he's not. I think he's got a lot of
- 24:53Speaker 2: kids under five or something, which is insane to to
- 25:00Speaker 2: do what he did and have that many young children.
- 25:03Speaker 2: I mean, obviously it goes without saying they must have
- 25:06Speaker 2: help he and his wife, but to take on an
- 25:08Speaker 2: undertaking of the scale of wicked and have like, I
- 25:12Speaker 2: don't know what it is, Danel, Maybe you can look
- 25:13Speaker 2: it up. He's got like four kids under five or
- 25:15Speaker 2: something like that. Look it up.
- 25:20Speaker 1: I was disappointed at the Golden Globes, but I was
- 25:22Speaker 1: also very happy.
- 25:24Speaker 2: With what disappointed you.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Well, I wanted I wanted Arianna and Cynthia to win,
- 25:30Speaker 1: but the people who won I was very happy for. Like,
- 25:33Speaker 1: I was very happy that Demi Moore won. I was saying,
- 25:36Speaker 1: very happy that she won, you know what I mean,
- 25:39Speaker 1: And I.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Was very movie. Did you see the substance?
- 25:42Speaker 1: I did. I have not seen the substance.
- 25:44Speaker 2: I think you like it.
- 25:45Speaker 1: You got to see the sub but not just that.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I was very happy that Zoe Saldan won. Also, you
- 25:52Speaker 1: know what I mean That that was I was very
- 25:55Speaker 1: happy about that.
- 25:56Speaker 2: I saw that movie Emelia Perez, and she is wonderful
- 26:00Speaker 2: in it. She's a very very good actress and I'm
- 26:03Speaker 2: happy for her. And her speech was lovely. And by
- 26:07Speaker 2: the way, I don't think you'd like a million pairs
- 26:10Speaker 2: knowing you, but I think you will love the substance.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Well, yeah, man, I think I would like Amelia.
- 26:20Speaker 2: I don't like it.
- 26:21Speaker 1: It is a musical, and it is it's subtit what's
- 26:26Speaker 1: it's subtitled? And so i'd have to stand really close
- 26:29Speaker 1: to the screen so I could read the stand close.
- 26:33Speaker 2: I just saw you.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's to read. Man.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Oh, then why didn't you get why didn't you also
- 26:41Speaker 2: get that's next? So you went to the doctor and
- 26:45Speaker 2: only got one pair of classes.
- 26:47Speaker 1: When you know, I went to the doctor and I
- 26:50Speaker 1: didn't go to the doctor. My wife was like, you
- 26:51Speaker 1: need readers because I was all readers.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Yeah, Oh, why don't you go to the ophthalmologist, my.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Friend, that's the next step.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Especially since you're checking in on all your.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Health, that's the next step.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Those glasses are cool. You got those readers though.
- 27:04Speaker 1: I like them.
- 27:05Speaker 2: What else can we talk about? Before we were waiting
- 27:08Speaker 2: for the legendary Johnny ce McGinley to join us, talk
- 27:10Speaker 2: about all things Johnny C. What else have you been
- 27:14Speaker 2: watching that you liked?
- 27:15Speaker 1: Skeleton Crew?
- 27:16Speaker 2: Skeleton Crew? Okay, it's that's a kid's Disney show, right.
- 27:20Speaker 1: It's a it's a Star Wars show that stars Jude
- 27:24Speaker 1: Law and a bunch of kids, and it is. I mean,
- 27:28Speaker 1: they don't need I'm gonna be me personally. I feel
- 27:32Speaker 1: like they've now found the stars of the next generation
- 27:35Speaker 1: for Star Wars. We don't need to worry about Ray Skywalker.
- 27:39Speaker 1: We don't need to worry about Finn or Poe, Damnren.
- 27:42Speaker 1: They can be in the background. Now, let's follow these
- 27:45Speaker 1: four kids on their adventure after whatever this show is,
- 27:49Speaker 1: it's supposed to tie into, you know, this grand movie
- 27:53Speaker 1: that's coming out later on that John Favareau and Dave
- 27:57Speaker 1: Filoni are putting together where they explain how Palpatine returns
- 28:02Speaker 1: in the in the later start in the Star Wars
- 28:06Speaker 1: sequel trilogy. Uh, but I think they found four really
- 28:10Speaker 1: good people to follow into the future and we don't
- 28:15Speaker 1: need to. It has nothing to do with Luke Skywalker.
- 28:18Speaker 1: It has nothing to do with you know, any of that.
- 28:21Speaker 1: These kids are so good and so smart and they're
- 28:25Speaker 1: playing this so well that I think this is the
- 28:29Speaker 1: future of Star Wars. I would stick to this instead
- 28:31Speaker 1: of trying to figure out how to you know, piece
- 28:35Speaker 1: together all of the you know, this puzzle that you know,
- 28:40Speaker 1: Ryan Johnson and JJ Abrams created when they decided to
- 28:44Speaker 1: you know, retcon some shit and you know, kill certain
- 28:48Speaker 1: people and stuff like that.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Like are they are they building another big Star Wars movie?
- 28:53Speaker 2: They must be, right, Like who's who's who's developing the
- 28:56Speaker 2: next like big Star Wars movie that can continue from
- 28:59Speaker 2: what jaj did.
- 29:00Speaker 1: It's Dave Filoney that's doing it. Dave is a he's
- 29:03Speaker 1: a master of Star Wars.
- 29:05Speaker 2: He's he's gonna he has the rains now for the
- 29:08Speaker 2: next big Star Wars movie.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Yeah, him and and fav and.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Who will be in it? From the from the cast.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Will it be that I don't that driver Adam Drivers
- 29:21Speaker 1: in Star Wars?
- 29:24Speaker 2: Is he's kylo Ren?
- 29:26Speaker 3: Right?
- 29:26Speaker 1: Oh that's right. Why did I not know that he's dead?
- 29:30Speaker 1: He's dead though, Wait, let's go.
- 29:31Speaker 2: But you were off weed and you didn't know Adam
- 29:33Speaker 2: Driver was in Star Wars.
- 29:34Speaker 1: I didn't know who Adam Driver was for a hot second, like,
- 29:37Speaker 1: who the fuck is Adam Driver?
- 29:38Speaker 2: That must be like a weed remnant like this just
- 29:40Speaker 2: like firing off in your brain for like this is
- 29:44Speaker 2: like your religion and I'm like, is Jesus in it?
- 29:46Speaker 2: And You're like, who's Jesus?
- 29:47Speaker 1: Yeah, dude? For like for like three weeks, I still
- 29:51Speaker 1: felt high, and every now and then I still get that.
- 29:55Speaker 2: I'm going to tell you that Adam Driver is in
- 29:57Speaker 2: Star Wars, right, he doesn't spoiler.
- 30:01Speaker 1: No, it's not a spoiler. He dies in the Rise of.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Skyp spoiler you Skywalker at my house?
- 30:07Speaker 1: What are you talking about?
- 30:09Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 30:10Speaker 2: Do you want to let my baby?
- 30:11Speaker 1: Yeah? I do want to see your babby.
- 30:13Speaker 2: She's eighty pounds. I gotta use both.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Oh, God, don't hurt your back, fat, don't get that Hernia. Hey, baby,
- 30:24Speaker 1: this is Penny.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Penny and say hi to the audience. Look at those eyes.
- 30:29Speaker 1: She's beautiful.
- 30:32Speaker 2: I love her. Okay, baby eighty pounds. Yeah, it's officially
- 30:40Speaker 2: a foster failed Donald.
- 30:42Speaker 1: If you did it, I'm gonna let it. I knew you.
- 30:44Speaker 1: I knew that's what it was gonna be.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Everyone did. Everyone on my Instagram was like, there's no
- 30:49Speaker 2: way you're giving this dog up.
- 30:52Speaker 1: I've made some really good Star Wars stuff. In my
- 30:56Speaker 1: animation room. I put my motion and control camera to
- 31:01Speaker 1: the test and it's doing its thing.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Really, you've got it figured out.
- 31:06Speaker 1: No, I have people come over to help me out.
- 31:08Speaker 1: I have.
- 31:08Speaker 2: But they're educating you. They're teaching you.
- 31:11Speaker 1: They are teaching me, and I am being educated. It's hard, man,
- 31:14Speaker 1: it's not I you know. I got into stop motion
- 31:18Speaker 1: animation because of my love of special effects and the
- 31:21Speaker 1: behind the scenes stuff that you see in your movies
- 31:24Speaker 1: like the Marvel movies and the Star Wars movies and
- 31:28Speaker 1: stuff like that. That's since a kid. If I didn't
- 31:31Speaker 1: become an actor, I probably would have went into that
- 31:34Speaker 1: and doing it as an older man, it's challenging. It's
- 31:40Speaker 1: very challenging to retain all of the knowledge that if
- 31:45Speaker 1: I was a young man, and I was learning it,
- 31:48Speaker 1: I would be able to breeze through.
- 31:50Speaker 2: But it probably helps to not be high when they're
- 31:54Speaker 2: teaching you.
- 31:55Speaker 1: Well, I'm not high anymore, you know.
- 31:57Speaker 2: I'm saying like, it probably helps your education to not
- 32:00Speaker 2: be like, you know, under the influence.
- 32:04Speaker 1: You want to hear something. So the stuff that I
- 32:06Speaker 1: learned when I was high, I've completely forgot. So it's like,
- 32:11Speaker 1: it's like, all right, how do I remember that? Like
- 32:15Speaker 1: I turned on all of my equipment because I had
- 32:17Speaker 1: it set up for this motion control shot for the
- 32:20Speaker 1: short that I'm working on, and we at the last,
- 32:25Speaker 1: at our last meeting or our last shoot, they set
- 32:28Speaker 1: the table back up so I can animate again, and
- 32:32Speaker 1: me trying to figure out how to move the motion
- 32:34Speaker 1: control rig has become you know, it has to be centered,
- 32:38Speaker 1: it needs to be zeroed. Like, there's so many things,
- 32:40Speaker 1: and I forgot all of it because when I learned it,
- 32:42Speaker 1: I was stoned to the bone. Wow, and now I'm sober.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Kids not even once kids. Shit, that sounds tasty.
- 32:57Speaker 2: Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to trigger you. I'm sorry.
- 33:01Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 33:03Speaker 1: I'm good. Though, I'm good. I don't want to do
- 33:06Speaker 1: it anymore.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Well, how your wife must be happy that you're trying
- 33:10Speaker 2: new things.
- 33:11Speaker 1: Well, she was, that's the crazy thing. Once, once I
- 33:13Speaker 1: got off of it, she was like, motherfucker, don't you
- 33:17Speaker 1: got something to animate now? Or you know, like because
- 33:20Speaker 1: I'm all of her, all her her more, And she's like,
- 33:24Speaker 1: ain't the Knicks playing or something? She can't take it.
- 33:31Speaker 2: She's like, you're giving her too much attention.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Too much attention.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Yeah, you need a lot of attention.
- 33:38Speaker 1: I do.
- 33:39Speaker 2: I love attention when I'm dating someone. I like lots
- 33:42Speaker 2: of attention to. But I give lots of attention.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Yes, so do I I like.
- 33:46Speaker 2: But your wife is like, get the funk away from me,
- 33:49Speaker 2: Go to your hobby.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Yeah, wife, you guys don't watch the same thing.
- 33:53Speaker 2: She doesn't cuddle you. You guys don't watch the same
- 33:56Speaker 2: thing either, right, No, how are your basketball teams doing?
- 34:00Speaker 1: The Knicks word doing good? They just lost three in
- 34:03Speaker 1: a row to.
- 34:04Speaker 2: You know, Bill Lawrence has some floor seats for the Lakers. Bullshit,
- 34:10Speaker 2: we haven't been invited yet.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Does he go? Does he use him?
- 34:15Speaker 2: Yes? I don't think he has every game, but he's
- 34:17Speaker 2: got lots of games.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Bill. If you're not using your tickets, hook, he doesn't.
- 34:21Speaker 2: See this show anymore, so it's fine.
- 34:24Speaker 1: He claims it's his podcast.
- 34:26Speaker 2: He claimed it's his podcast, but I don't think he
- 34:28Speaker 2: listens to it. And if he did, if he does,
- 34:32Speaker 2: Bill Donald and I would like to use your floor
- 34:34Speaker 2: seats for the Lakers.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Please, let's take a break.
- 34:37Speaker 2: We'll be right back after these fine words.
- 34:47Speaker 4: Here's some stories you're not show. We made about a
- 34:53Speaker 4: bunch of the storyt so yea here, yea.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Here hey man, Hello ladies and gentlemen, the legendary Johnny
- 35:15Speaker 2: c McGinley.
- 35:16Speaker 1: What's happening, star?
- 35:18Speaker 2: How are you?
- 35:18Speaker 3: Donald? Hellozachi?
- 35:20Speaker 2: Good to see you, sir.
- 35:24Speaker 3: I'm coming to you. I know this won't be for
- 35:26Speaker 3: a week or two. Where the Pacific Palisades are on
- 35:28Speaker 3: fire again. I get the fuck.
- 35:31Speaker 1: I can see the fire from my house. Man, this
- 35:33Speaker 1: ship is for real right now. Man, at the top
- 35:36Speaker 1: of the hill.
- 35:36Speaker 3: It's just go down there.
- 35:38Speaker 2: I'm really in the Palisades now. The last time Johnny
- 35:41Speaker 2: you were, you were dealing with the fire. We were
- 35:44Speaker 2: trying to audience. We were trying to have Johnny on
- 35:46Speaker 2: a few weeks ago before the holiday and then but
- 35:49Speaker 2: Malibu was having crazy fires.
- 35:52Speaker 3: Well it was raging here last night that wind. Did
- 35:54Speaker 3: you guys feel the wind in town?
- 35:56Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 35:56Speaker 3: Absolutely, Well, we don't live near each other, but on
- 36:00Speaker 3: the other side of the hill you must have been
- 36:02Speaker 3: feeling funnel through there.
- 36:04Speaker 1: It is amazing how powerful the wind is right now.
- 36:08Speaker 1: I've never seen a palm tree bend that much and
- 36:13Speaker 1: still like it looks like they're about to snap. That's
- 36:16Speaker 1: how much they're bending. Eighty miles per hour wind outside right.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Now, Johnny, Can you get fire insurance in Malibu? Still?
- 36:25Speaker 3: Some people can, some people can't. It's just randomly canceled
- 36:29Speaker 3: on you. And we still have it, but a lot
- 36:33Speaker 3: of my neighbors do not, and a whole lot you
- 36:35Speaker 3: can do about it.
- 36:36Speaker 2: You're completely gambling with your biggest investment. It's crazy.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Yes, I think if the fire what's in vogue is
- 36:45Speaker 3: if your fire insurance is taken away from you, people
- 36:48Speaker 3: start their own fund independent of that and tag it
- 36:53Speaker 3: specifically for replacement expenses. If you're in a position to
- 36:58Speaker 3: be able to do that, which is oh.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Of your Well, not everybody, I mean, I know everyone
- 37:02Speaker 2: assumes everyone in Malibu is wealthy because it's a very
- 37:05Speaker 2: expensive place to live, but I'm sure not everyone is,
- 37:09Speaker 2: of course, so how does they what do they do?
- 37:11Speaker 2: They just they're kind of gambling with their I mean,
- 37:14Speaker 2: the fires are so common, or the threat of fire
- 37:17Speaker 2: is so common. You know. I went went to Sean
- 37:20Speaker 2: Penn's house, who is your neighbor, once and he has
- 37:23Speaker 2: this incredible rig that is a pump and the intake
- 37:30Speaker 2: goes into your swimming pool. I know you know this
- 37:32Speaker 2: because you've been to his house, you're his friend. But
- 37:35Speaker 2: and then and then donald it then becomes a pump
- 37:37Speaker 2: that you can put out, put out your house by
- 37:41Speaker 2: pumping your pool water all over your house.
- 37:44Speaker 1: That's smart, that's smart.
- 37:45Speaker 2: You guys have honey, you need to get one of those. No,
- 37:47Speaker 2: you don't have a pool pool.
- 37:49Speaker 3: But I'm speaking to you today because I've spent the
- 37:51Speaker 3: last couple of weeks installing a generator.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Yes, I have the most important Yeah, yeah, I want to.
- 37:57Speaker 3: I want to get the factor right now is through
- 38:00Speaker 3: the roof?
- 38:01Speaker 2: Why because the powers out or no?
- 38:03Speaker 3: Oh yeah, power has pronounced since nine o'clock this morning.
- 38:06Speaker 2: So you you have, so it's powers. What percentage of
- 38:08Speaker 2: your house?
- 38:09Speaker 3: Well, I have the ice machine is off, the hothouse
- 38:13Speaker 3: is off, the shack is off all the all the
- 38:18Speaker 3: all the all the all your luxe.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Trappings are off.
- 38:24Speaker 3: Off. So there's a light to Are you gonna.
- 38:27Speaker 2: Be able to survive without your golf simulator and your
- 38:30Speaker 2: sauna ice plunge.
- 38:32Speaker 3: That's a good question.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Check now.
- 38:35Speaker 3: I'm gonna I'm gonna breathe.
- 38:37Speaker 2: By the way, I have one of those. And I
- 38:38Speaker 2: always feel bad because the power where I live goes
- 38:41Speaker 2: out often and and then the thing fire. Yeah, up
- 38:44Speaker 2: in the Hollywood Hills, Yeah, power goes out a bunch,
- 38:47Speaker 2: and but it kicks on and it's loud, and I'm
- 38:51Speaker 2: the only and I'm the only house lit up on
- 38:54Speaker 2: the block, and I feel I feel like a jerk
- 38:57Speaker 2: because I'm no one else has any power, but I'm
- 39:02Speaker 2: like fully lit up and making noise.
- 39:05Speaker 3: You know, it's this whole area where I live, and
- 39:08Speaker 3: Zaki is familiar. Donald, You've given me the cold shoulder
- 39:11Speaker 3: coming over. But this whole area is buzzing with generators
- 39:15Speaker 3: right now.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, I'm surprised nobody has the solar generator you gotta.
- 39:20Speaker 3: You're gonna have to find out how much that pulls.
- 39:22Speaker 2: A lot of sun. You need a lot of sun.
- 39:24Speaker 2: You might not have the sun So.
- 39:26Speaker 3: In other words, the ten thousand watt thing that I bought,
- 39:30Speaker 3: Uh is a big Honda beast.
- 39:33Speaker 2: And is off the brand.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it runs out gasol, runs off the gasoline.
- 39:40Speaker 2: No, Oh it does.
- 39:41Speaker 3: Mine runs on gasoline.
- 39:42Speaker 2: Oh, mine runs off the gas line.
- 39:45Speaker 3: Yes, you're very fancy.
- 39:46Speaker 1: You are very fancy.
- 39:48Speaker 2: Mine runs off the gas line.
- 39:49Speaker 1: And then if the cuts off the gas.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Oh A very good question, Donald, because if there's an earthquake.
- 39:55Speaker 2: We live in Los Angeles, the gas lines, Uh, they
- 39:59Speaker 2: have a earthquake protection thing that shuts the gas line off. Well,
- 40:04Speaker 2: then if you were smart enough to get a propane
- 40:07Speaker 2: backup tank, yeah, it will run off propane for X
- 40:11Speaker 2: amount of hours, depending on how much you're pulling on.
- 40:13Speaker 3: You know, when you talk to me this way, I
- 40:15Speaker 3: find you to be a sexy motherfucker.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Really you like this generator talk?
- 40:19Speaker 3: Dude?
- 40:19Speaker 1: I like this yourself. Shit.
- 40:22Speaker 2: I don't know if the audience is bored, but I
- 40:23Speaker 2: am so interested in house generators.
- 40:27Speaker 3: Any do it yourself hardware projects?
- 40:30Speaker 2: You got me, Well, I didn't do it myself. You
- 40:33Speaker 2: probably actually did some work. I have to confess that
- 40:37Speaker 2: I would not know how to do the work, but
- 40:39Speaker 2: I but I, but I did have a I do have.
- 40:40Speaker 1: A sex Johnny, you installed your generator.
- 40:44Speaker 3: I ran onto it under the house.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:47Speaker 3: I did bring an electrician to rewire some of the board.
- 40:51Speaker 3: But that, of course. The deal is when you come
- 40:54Speaker 3: here as a vendor to do it project, I get
- 40:57Speaker 3: to help. Really, otherwise you can't come. I did that
- 41:00Speaker 3: with my contractory. I was going to put together a
- 41:02Speaker 3: big ass pergola, and I got the instructions. I was like,
- 41:05Speaker 3: I cannot do this alone.
- 41:07Speaker 2: This is this is I don't want the audience to
- 41:09Speaker 2: think like it's not like IKEA, like it was meant
- 41:12Speaker 2: to be put together by someone who knows what they're doing. Sure,
- 41:15Speaker 2: but I said to him, because he's my friend now,
- 41:17Speaker 2: I said I'd like to do it with you. And
- 41:19Speaker 2: he was like, he looked at me, like you're not
- 41:21Speaker 2: going to really do this. You're going to spend a
- 41:23Speaker 2: half hour and then get bored. Because it was like
- 41:25Speaker 2: a it was like a full day project. Absolutely, And
- 41:28Speaker 2: I helped him. I helped him and he taught me
- 41:30Speaker 2: a bunch of things and I had the best time.
- 41:32Speaker 3: And I liked that idea too, And it's been that
- 41:36Speaker 3: way all the way through. I was kind of the
- 41:38Speaker 3: co contractor in this house, because it's no different than
- 41:42Speaker 3: producing a film. You marshal men every morning, whatever their
- 41:47Speaker 3: specialty is, you marshal them in the right direction. And
- 41:50Speaker 3: I reserved the right to ask questions and help.
- 41:53Speaker 2: Yeah, but I can.
- 41:54Speaker 3: Take a phillip screwdrivers as well as the next guy.
- 41:57Speaker 3: Come on, give me a break.
- 41:58Speaker 2: Well, I felt like it was a was like it
- 42:00Speaker 2: was like taking our class, because I think that's great.
- 42:03Speaker 2: There were lots of things I didn't know, and he
- 42:05Speaker 2: was and he's the nicest guy.
- 42:06Speaker 3: And I know nothing but learn.
- 42:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 42:10Speaker 3: I like that.
- 42:11Speaker 1: It seems like you know a lot more than most
- 42:13Speaker 1: people do. Most people wouldn't dare try to set up
- 42:16Speaker 1: their own generator to their house.
- 42:19Speaker 3: Like but like we we'd lay the cement pad with
- 42:22Speaker 3: some rebar in it to put the uh. I've laid
- 42:25Speaker 3: tons of cement and that is that's comfortable to me.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Right then, I like for a little while, and I
- 42:32Speaker 3: love laying pipe. You're going seventy thirty.
- 42:38Speaker 1: I do. He's not lying, though, Johnny.
- 42:41Speaker 3: I do like to lay that, like to lay pipe.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Let's take a break.
- 42:45Speaker 2: We'll be right back after these fine words that Johnny,
- 42:55Speaker 2: how are you? How are things audiences should know about
- 42:58Speaker 2: Johnny C's podcast, asked Johnny tell them about your podcast
- 43:04Speaker 2: how they find it? It's Connective Tissue is the title.
- 43:08Speaker 2: I love it, you get some of the most incredible guests.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Just pitch it a little bit to our audience who
- 43:14Speaker 2: love you and might not know about your podcast.
- 43:16Speaker 3: Connective Tissue is an exploration of storytellers looking at storytelling.
- 43:23Speaker 3: It's that narrow Zachie came on, you were astonishing, Thank you.
- 43:27Speaker 3: And it's half an acting class, half a production class.
- 43:32Speaker 3: It's half how people became storytellers, what the tipping point was,
- 43:39Speaker 3: What is storytelling to them? How does doubt creep in?
- 43:44Speaker 3: Why are you doing it? Why be a storyteller? What
- 43:48Speaker 3: was the influences for the storytellers? And it's that narrow
- 43:52Speaker 3: a lane. I don't care about people's diets or who
- 43:54Speaker 3: they just broke up with. It's really about storytellers exploring storytelling.
- 43:59Speaker 3: And from Sean Penn to Zach Braff, to Randall Wallace
- 44:05Speaker 3: to Brian Hagelin, Keith, David Rory Kennedy, I've had on,
- 44:10Speaker 3: including Zackie, some of the most articulate people who can
- 44:13Speaker 3: explore storytelling that you can't turn it off. Have you
- 44:18Speaker 3: had them? Have you had an hour?
- 44:19Speaker 2: Didn't you have David Mammon?
- 44:21Speaker 3: No, David has not been on yet.
- 44:23Speaker 2: Okay, what about Oliver Stone.
- 44:25Speaker 3: Oliver, that's a big get.
- 44:29Speaker 2: But you've gotten some guts, dude. I was scrolling. I
- 44:31Speaker 2: haven't listened all of them. I listened to a bunch,
- 44:32Speaker 2: but I was scrolling your guests. And obviously because you're
- 44:35Speaker 2: beloved and have so many connections, but you've got some
- 44:38Speaker 2: amazing guests.
- 44:39Speaker 3: Eric Bogosian came on, and yes, that's whoy I was thinking.
- 44:43Speaker 2: I was thinking of Bogosian, and I.
- 44:44Speaker 3: Also Keith David coming on and being on the mount
- 44:47Speaker 3: rushmore of voiceover artists, and to have Keith explore what
- 44:51Speaker 3: he does when he's voicing those astonishing documentaries. He and
- 44:55Speaker 3: Peter Coyote, that's it. It's Peter Coyote and he does
- 44:59Speaker 3: the you the Proud, the Marines man.
- 45:03Speaker 1: He's freaking got a contract with the government. That's how amazing.
- 45:06Speaker 2: He said.
- 45:08Speaker 3: He's the man. He's also a dear friend of mine
- 45:10Speaker 3: and we've done a few together.
- 45:12Speaker 2: You got to get Oliver, dude, just because I know
- 45:14Speaker 2: it's a hard get and he's tricky, But I just
- 45:16Speaker 2: feel like everyone would want to tune in to hear
- 45:19Speaker 2: you and Oliver tell Platoon stories and Wall Street stories.
- 45:22Speaker 3: And Oliver is a different cat man. I don't know
- 45:25Speaker 3: how many stories he wants to talk about them.
- 45:30Speaker 1: Well, some of the stories that you told us about
- 45:32Speaker 1: working with him are amazing, dude, And and.
- 45:35Speaker 3: But that's me telling it. Oliver's Oliver's different. Oliver's a
- 45:38Speaker 3: different cat man. He is, in fact, the smartest guy
- 45:41Speaker 3: in the room. He doesn't suffer fools, and I'm not
- 45:45Speaker 3: sure if he would be interested in breaking down storytelling.
- 45:49Speaker 2: It's a great idea you should try, just because like,
- 45:52Speaker 2: I feel like he loves you and he would, you know,
- 45:55Speaker 2: I feel like Oliver Stone's not saying yes to most people,
- 45:58Speaker 2: but he might say yes to you.
- 46:00Speaker 3: You it's a great idea.
- 46:01Speaker 2: Donald and I are trying to you know, now, then
- 46:03Speaker 2: this we're in this new incarnation where we're having guests
- 46:06Speaker 2: on and trying to reach out to people that we
- 46:09Speaker 2: just find interesting. And for us, it could be anywhere
- 46:12Speaker 2: from a sex therapist to.
- 46:14Speaker 3: Uh, I heard the sex therapist.
- 46:15Speaker 2: Yeah, you've heard him too. We did two different ones.
- 46:18Speaker 3: I heard her. I heard the first and the second,
- 46:20Speaker 3: and what did your think?
- 46:21Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 46:22Speaker 3: Mate, Donald, so uncomfortable and where the line was that
- 46:26Speaker 3: you were allowed to go? And I'm listening, I'm going like,
- 46:28Speaker 3: is he gonna is he going to jump on this?
- 46:30Speaker 3: Is he going to jump on this? And you didn't
- 46:32Speaker 3: you exercise more restraint and more decorum than I've ever
- 46:37Speaker 3: I don't think I did.
- 46:38Speaker 1: I think they edited out a lot of the ship
- 46:41Speaker 1: that I said.
- 46:41Speaker 3: Oh, well you I thought you were on un behavior.
- 46:45Speaker 2: I think you are good behavior. The thing about the
- 46:46Speaker 2: sex therapist that's amazing is she she she her whole
- 46:50Speaker 2: thing is like, don't censor yourself, ask me anything you
- 46:53Speaker 2: want to ask me, no matter.
- 46:54Speaker 3: But her partner wasn't her partner on with her?
- 46:56Speaker 2: I don't know her husband, her husband doesn't whether.
- 46:58Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's liberating to be able to talk to
- 47:01Speaker 3: her with her husband on. It's quite It seemed to
- 47:03Speaker 3: liberate you guys.
- 47:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:05Speaker 2: So many of these issues are so taboo. Still people go,
- 47:08Speaker 2: I don't know how I want to ask this question,
- 47:09Speaker 2: but I'm embarrassed. I mean even even us, who are
- 47:12Speaker 2: or even what do I say? Even we even.
- 47:15Speaker 1: Us, even the two of us.
- 47:17Speaker 2: Even the two of us who are us two who
- 47:19Speaker 2: are pretty unfiltered, uncensored. I think she's wonderful because she
- 47:26Speaker 2: has this attitude of like, don't censor yourself, ask me anything,
- 47:29Speaker 2: anything that's on your mind.
- 47:30Speaker 3: Well as far as things being taboo, we now I
- 47:33Speaker 3: haven't been on this set yet, this given set, but
- 47:37Speaker 3: there are now intimacy coordinators on sets, and exactly you
- 47:41Speaker 3: just will you explain what that is?
- 47:43Speaker 2: Well, for those of you who don't know if you're
- 47:45Speaker 2: going to do a sex scene or anything involving nudity,
- 47:48Speaker 2: there's now a position on set to protect everyone, the
- 47:52Speaker 2: people not involved, the crew, the you know, particularly the
- 47:56Speaker 2: people who are involved, so that there isn't this known
- 48:00Speaker 2: territory of how is this going to go? I directed
- 48:03Speaker 2: a couple of scenes now with an intimacy corner, and
- 48:05Speaker 2: you did yeah. And the way it works is I
- 48:08Speaker 2: go to the intimacy corner and she says, what do
- 48:10Speaker 2: you expect this scene to be? And I said, okay,
- 48:13Speaker 2: I want. For example, in a Good Person, there's a
- 48:15Speaker 2: scene where a young man is making out with a
- 48:19Speaker 2: girl who's intoxicated and he's on the verge of he
- 48:25Speaker 2: is already crossing a line, so she says, what do
- 48:27Speaker 2: you what do you want this to be? Well, I
- 48:28Speaker 2: wanted to be X Y and Z and I picture
- 48:30Speaker 2: this and maybe he grabs her in this way and
- 48:33Speaker 2: as detailed as possible. She then goes to the two
- 48:36Speaker 2: actors and says, this is what the director has in mind,
- 48:39Speaker 2: to each of them separately, and what do you have
- 48:42Speaker 2: any problem with that? They She then comes back to
- 48:45Speaker 2: me and says, here's what they are okay with, here's
- 48:48Speaker 2: what you know. And then and then together on set
- 48:51Speaker 2: when you're choreographing it, she is there and she is
- 48:55Speaker 2: sort of being the liaison, if you will, because this
- 48:58Speaker 2: is after, you know, decades of people feeling uncomfortable, so
- 49:04Speaker 2: that is a new.
- 49:05Speaker 3: And did it did the scene worked in your in
- 49:07Speaker 3: your film? But did it work? Did the mechanics of
- 49:10Speaker 3: it work on the day?
- 49:12Speaker 2: Yeah? It was all great. I think it, you know,
- 49:15Speaker 2: I think it protects everyone. Some people, you know, don't
- 49:19Speaker 2: don't like it. Have been voiced not liking the system
- 49:22Speaker 2: and saying, oh, come on.
- 49:23Speaker 3: Has it robbed spontaneity in the frame?
- 49:26Speaker 1: Yeah, you can't. You got to stick to what you
- 49:29Speaker 1: I've had it. I've had an intimatecy coordinator twice. Oh
- 49:32Speaker 1: you have yes, you have to stick to what you
- 49:35Speaker 1: guys discussed.
- 49:37Speaker 3: What if what if something is sparking for the two
- 49:40Speaker 3: of us and for Bob and Susan, and all of
- 49:44Speaker 3: a sudden, Susan is is is on a on a
- 49:48Speaker 3: train of thought and a train of behavior that Bob
- 49:52Speaker 3: it wasn't in the blueprint for Bob and now spontanated
- 49:55Speaker 3: the frame.
- 49:57Speaker 1: What about that?
- 49:57Speaker 2: I think it's about communication. I think that Susan and
- 50:00Speaker 2: could say like.
- 50:01Speaker 1: Hey, you know it's all right if you do this, Yeah,
- 50:06Speaker 1: you can.
- 50:06Speaker 2: Grab my breast or this is hot. Why don't we
- 50:08Speaker 2: do when we do another take? If it's okay with you,
- 50:11Speaker 2: grab my I'm just pulling this on my au grab
- 50:13Speaker 2: my breast and and then and I think it's just
- 50:15Speaker 2: about like everything's fine as long as there's communication and
- 50:21Speaker 2: people don't feel I think in the past, here's an example,
- 50:24Speaker 2: women were feeling like they were being pushed to do
- 50:28Speaker 2: things that they hadn't signed on to do, and and
- 50:31Speaker 2: then they were being pushed to do so in front
- 50:33Speaker 2: of the crew and in front of everyone they weren't
- 50:35Speaker 2: and they weren't feeling safe or they're feeling pressured, and
- 50:39Speaker 2: the goal I think is to is to eliminate anybody
- 50:42Speaker 2: feeling uncomfortable or pressured into something they didn't sign up for.
- 50:46Speaker 3: I think, in an SAT context, your your sex therapist
- 50:52Speaker 3: is to couples as a intimacy coordinator is to actors.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's that's right. It's about like, hey,
- 51:01Speaker 2: we never talked about this. Yeah, there's probably some breakthroughs
- 51:06Speaker 2: for us to have if we had honest talks about sex,
- 51:09Speaker 2: because people stereotypically in the past haven't like sat down
- 51:13Speaker 2: and talked about what they like and what they don't like.
- 51:16Speaker 3: And it might allow one of the two people participating
- 51:19Speaker 3: in an intimacy coordinator's coordination to put their duke's down,
- 51:25Speaker 3: whether the guy has apprehension or the woman has apprehension,
- 51:29Speaker 3: maybe you could lighten your burden there because of this
- 51:32Speaker 3: third party. I don't know. I haven't been on that
- 51:34Speaker 3: set yet.
- 51:35Speaker 1: I will say, as I've gotten older, I don't necessarily
- 51:38Speaker 1: like doing sex scenes and stuff like that. I mean,
- 51:40Speaker 1: I dose that, I just I don't like it feels.
- 51:45Speaker 1: It feels weird, you know what I mean. It feels
- 51:46Speaker 1: weird to have all these people with cameras and everything
- 51:49Speaker 1: on you. And I remember, I remember when the intimacy
- 51:58Speaker 1: coordinator came in and they were like, we want to
- 52:00Speaker 1: make sure we get a shot of you, not not
- 52:04Speaker 1: a physical shot of it, but we want to show
- 52:07Speaker 1: that you have now penetrated her. And I was like,
- 52:10Speaker 1: oh my god Jesus, yeah exactly and uh and so then.
- 52:17Speaker 2: You sort of had to act out that you were
- 52:19Speaker 2: going inside of her.
- 52:20Speaker 1: That I was going in.
- 52:21Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, did you do that? Did you do that? Well?
- 52:25Speaker 1: I think I.
- 52:25Speaker 2: Show us, show us what it would look like.
- 52:27Speaker 1: No, but but it was just I just remember it.
- 52:36Speaker 2: I had to do that once too, in the last kiss.
- 52:38Speaker 1: It feels weird, you know what I mean, It feels
- 52:41Speaker 1: it's weird just to think about, you know, how I
- 52:45Speaker 1: do it? Is it necessarily how the intimacy coordinator or
- 52:49Speaker 1: the other person sees it. And so now you're acting
- 52:52Speaker 1: like you know what I mean, you're it feels fake
- 52:56Speaker 1: kind of like I don't mind an intimacy coordinator. You
- 53:00Speaker 1: it makes me feel safe, but you know, clear to set,
- 53:03Speaker 1: I just want the camera guy there.
- 53:05Speaker 2: Well, part of it is, like, you know, making sure
- 53:09Speaker 2: the intimacy coordinator is also there to like, make sure
- 53:12Speaker 2: there's no need for this to be going to everyone's
- 53:15Speaker 2: monitors and phones.
- 53:18Speaker 3: You know, Uh, there was there an intimacy coordinator on Scrubs,
- 53:22Speaker 3: so now no, No, I didn't know if maybe there was,
- 53:26Speaker 3: and I wasn't aware of it.
- 53:28Speaker 2: No, we were just doing.
- 53:30Speaker 1: That was that was the wild West Man, and you
- 53:32Speaker 1: and Judy were, and you and Sarah Zachie, you guys
- 53:35Speaker 1: were wildly intimate.
- 53:37Speaker 2: I know that Pete's episode. Me and Sarah, we were
- 53:40Speaker 2: just like I couldn't believe even when we shot it.
- 53:42Speaker 2: I was like, they're gonna put this on network TV
- 53:45Speaker 2: like we were. We were that felt at the time
- 53:48Speaker 2: very uh, very r rated for for for primetime television.
- 53:53Speaker 3: But also d D and Judy were macin and yeah,
- 53:57Speaker 3: I felt really safe all the time.
- 54:00Speaker 2: But don't you put his tongue in her mouth?
- 54:02Speaker 1: Very early on, No, she put her tongue in my mouth,
- 54:05Speaker 1: and I made the mistake of saying, oh, she slipped
- 54:08Speaker 1: me the tongue and it again. I never got it again.
- 54:11Speaker 2: And that was that was That was like first season
- 54:15Speaker 2: you were like, oh, first it was pilot episode, bro, Yeah,
- 54:21Speaker 2: and then eight years later you never got tongue again.
- 54:23Speaker 1: No, true, Yeah, but I felt so safe with Judy.
- 54:27Speaker 1: Judy and I. I don't know if she felt the
- 54:29Speaker 1: same way with me, but Judy and I we had
- 54:32Speaker 1: a lot of sex scenes together. Oh, I never felt
- 54:35Speaker 1: like it never felt like, you know, either one of
- 54:39Speaker 1: us was out of control or either I can't speak
- 54:42Speaker 1: for her, but it never felt like. I never felt
- 54:46Speaker 1: I never felt conscious of my weight, you know, I
- 54:48Speaker 1: never felt there's all of these things that come into play.
- 54:52Speaker 1: I felt safe with Judy. I think that's the ultimate
- 54:55Speaker 1: form of chemistry, is when you can feel safe no
- 54:58Speaker 1: matter what, like whether we were kissing, whether we were talking,
- 55:01Speaker 1: if I had scenes with Judy, I knew I was good.
- 55:03Speaker 3: You know, did you guys give yourself a mandate for
- 55:07Speaker 3: your course correction or or your pivot with with fake doctors?
- 55:14Speaker 3: You really mean, boil it down to here's what we're
- 55:17Speaker 3: going to do now.
- 55:19Speaker 2: I think it really just became we want to talk
- 55:22Speaker 2: to people we find interesting. I mean, I know that's
- 55:24Speaker 2: that's not very narrow like, it's the opposite of what
- 55:27Speaker 2: you're saying. You have a very very specific niche that's
- 55:29Speaker 2: the that's the mandate for your own podcast. I think
- 55:32Speaker 2: for Donald and I was like, obviously, we prefer people
- 55:37Speaker 2: that make us laugh because you know, for the most part,
- 55:40Speaker 2: not every episode, but for the most part it's a
- 55:41Speaker 2: comedy podcast, so we like people that are that have
- 55:44Speaker 2: a sense of humor. But you know, we we we
- 55:49Speaker 2: have you know, we had the Surgeon General on that
- 55:51Speaker 2: wasn't a laugh riot, but he was fascinating. And we
- 55:55Speaker 2: had Professor Scott Galloway on it wasn't a laugh riot,
- 55:58Speaker 2: but he's fast, fantastic. How was a good one? Right?
- 56:00Speaker 3: It was great.
- 56:01Speaker 2: So I just think that people that we go, it
- 56:03Speaker 2: doesn't matter if you're an actor. We're not limited to
- 56:06Speaker 2: famous people or actors, but just people that we go.
- 56:09Speaker 2: I want to talk to that person. I think that's
- 56:11Speaker 2: the goal is.
- 56:11Speaker 3: I did the same thing with I opened up the
- 56:15Speaker 3: aperture a little bit with storytellers, and I had on
- 56:19Speaker 3: a real estate guy here in Malibu who has sold
- 56:22Speaker 3: eight billion dollars in residential real estate.
- 56:25Speaker 2: I know that guy's name.
- 56:26Speaker 3: What is his name, I'll tell you in a second.
- 56:29Speaker 3: And what he did that was so interesting is because
- 56:32Speaker 3: of course a house comes with a story, and which
- 56:36Speaker 3: realtor is telling that story in a way that resonates
- 56:41Speaker 3: for this buyer more than the other guy told it.
- 56:45Speaker 3: And I'm going to do the same thing with a
- 56:48Speaker 3: venture capitalist. I'm going to do it with a doula.
- 56:50Speaker 3: Because you're picking this doula to birth your child, which
- 56:54Speaker 3: has to be the most important event in your life.
- 56:56Speaker 3: Why'd you pick her? And what story did she tell
- 57:00Speaker 3: you about her experience? How did how did her story
- 57:05Speaker 3: calm you? And go? Oh? I want that person here
- 57:08Speaker 3: with me in the bottom of the ninth when the
- 57:11Speaker 3: bases are jacked. I want her coming into the pool,
- 57:14Speaker 3: into the birthing tub with me. What story is she telling? Uh?
- 57:20Speaker 3: His name is Chris Cortazo, Yes, Chris. What Chris said?
- 57:25Speaker 3: What was so interesting? Because I kept trying to There's
- 57:27Speaker 3: no gotcha in connective tissue, and so it allows storytellers
- 57:31Speaker 3: to lower their dukes. I don't want to, I don't
- 57:33Speaker 3: wanna ambush you. I really want to know, as Zachi,
- 57:37Speaker 3: you were so unbelievably articulate when you came on. I
- 57:40Speaker 3: really want to know specifically your relationship to storytelling and
- 57:45Speaker 3: what Chris finally, instead of telling I call it the
- 57:47Speaker 3: first date face. You know, sometimes we tell people what
- 57:50Speaker 3: we think they want to hear. And I'm not interested
- 57:53Speaker 3: in that. I really want to dig into storytelling as
- 57:56Speaker 3: I did with you, Zachi. And when when Chris, when
- 58:00Speaker 3: it was stripped away with Chris Cartaso this real estate savant,
- 58:06Speaker 3: I said, well, but what's different about you? And he goes,
- 58:09Speaker 3: I'm really nice, which is the exact opposite of what
- 58:13Speaker 3: you associate with realtors who will slit each other's throats
- 58:17Speaker 3: euphemistically to get a commission. And Chris was like, no.
- 58:23Speaker 2: But he what he did was brilliant. I watched it happen,
- 58:26Speaker 2: and there's a there's an area of Malibu that's that
- 58:29Speaker 2: he little by little, he sort of bought all of it.
- 58:33Speaker 2: I mean yeah, obviously off of his success. And then
- 58:35Speaker 2: once he owned all of it, he just said, all right,
- 58:38Speaker 2: this neighborhood is now this much more money, and and
- 58:43Speaker 2: it was. I mean, I mean, it's only a move
- 58:45Speaker 2: of power realtor could make. But you know, it's pretty
- 58:50Speaker 2: impressive what he accomplished.
- 58:52Speaker 3: But that's a part of his vision with the story
- 58:54Speaker 3: he was telling. That's what I mean. There's connective tissue
- 58:57Speaker 3: back to the story you're telling, and your capacity said,
- 59:00Speaker 3: he is a storyteller to communicate your story, and so
- 59:05Speaker 3: from Chris to this Duela I'm going to have on.
- 59:09Speaker 3: It's really interesting to open up the scope of storytellers. Now,
- 59:12Speaker 3: you can't just have random Bob or Sue on if
- 59:16Speaker 3: they're not capable of articulating. So there is quite a
- 59:21Speaker 3: bit of discretion I need to exercise with who I'm
- 59:25Speaker 3: inviting on. If someone is shrugging and I don't know,
- 59:29Speaker 3: I mean, you know, and all this bullshit, that doesn't work.
- 59:33Speaker 3: I need someone who has capacity to articulate what their
- 59:36Speaker 3: journey is.
- 59:37Speaker 2: So you should have Bill Lawrence on.
- 59:39Speaker 3: It's a hard get.
- 59:41Speaker 2: You know, he's quite busy.
- 59:42Speaker 3: She's a little busy. You know.
- 59:44Speaker 2: It's funny. I was Bill a lot this holiday, and
- 59:49Speaker 2: I can't really understand how he manages to do all
- 59:52Speaker 2: that he's doing. Not only does he have his family
- 59:55Speaker 2: that he's obviously so involved in and such a good dad,
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: but he's got like six shows going, and I just
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: it's hard enough to fathom being a showrunner of one show.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: And granted, he's got an amazing staff and an amazing
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: team and lots of other incredible writers helping him and producers,
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: our friend Randall being one of them, But man, I
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: just it's hard to I watch it. My point is
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: I watch it from the sidelines, and I'm like, fucking hell,
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: Like one of those things would stress me out. You're
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: talking about six things, yes, Donald.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: Does he do does he do them all at the
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: same time? Or does he spread it out? That's the question.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: They're spread out. But for example multiple right now currently,
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: just as an example, the Shrinking writers Room is going,
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: and Shrinking's about to go into production. The writer's room
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: for the new Corell show is going, and that's going
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: to soon go into production. So there are multiple and
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: then and then the other ones are like you know,
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: you know, the Bad Monkey Season two is happening, but
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: that's a little bit far out. But he's got to
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: get writers writing those scripts. So it's they all.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: Overlap, plus the Ted Lasso reboot, yes, plus the Ted
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: Last Possible Scrubs reboot, plus the Possible Scrubs.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: Reboot and more. That's five or six. Yeah, and then
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: he's got other stuff that's happening too. But it's it's
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't know how i'd sleep at night,
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: let alone, let alone managing to find time for family
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: and also your own recreation because you don't want to
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: get so busy that your whole life is only working.
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: It seems that on the drama side, Taylor Taylor Sheridan
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: is of is cut from the same cloth as Bill
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: in how prodigiously spread out he is?
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: Do you watch those shows? John?
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: Still love them?
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: Really? I'm going to get on the Yellowstone train. I've
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: not joined.
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: Yellow Starting is good, but the guy's gotten better and
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: better at his job. Landman with the Billy Bob Thornton,
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: I hear, yeah, I'm gonna write that Lionis is as
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: good as a Lioness and land Man is that?
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: What is that the one with her and Nicole Kidman?
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: Yes, and they're both great.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: Okay, I've been hearing this about Lioness and land Man.
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: Lioness she goes under cover, right, and she's like an
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: undercover ages.
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: Yes, it's it's it's special Ops. It's missus mister and
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: Missus Smith meets Special Ops. Mister and Missus Smith. When
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: when Brad and Angelina and Joe Lee did it, it
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: was a little tongue in cheek. Lioness is not this
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: is the end of the world. This is desperately serious.
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: I like that, But she she's.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: Trying to manage two teenage girls, a teenage girl and
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: a younger one, and a marriage and being the head
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: of a special ops group that is playing for real
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: and it's fricking great.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: Let's take a break.
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: We'll be right back after these fine words. Zach, Johnny,
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: did you did you watch The Golden Globes? Do you
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: have any favorite movies this year?
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: I don't have favorite movies as much as I have
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: favorite TV shows.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: You're a TV guy.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: What else are you watching?
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: The guy the Michael Fassbender, who I'm endlessly fascinated by.
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: Did you hear the Fastbender story?
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: Doing a remake of a French uh undercover thing called
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: the Agency? He's freaking great.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: Did you hear we don't need We went to Yes,
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: we do. We went to Vegas and.
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: Quick version because he heard the story.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: We went to Vegas and Michael Fastbender mistook young Zach
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: Braff young for Dak Shephard and his way of mistaking.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: He goes, he came up to Zach and goes, I
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: fucking love you. You're so amazing. Everything you do is great,
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: and I love chips.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: Yeah he loves chips.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: Well, say Zachy, Well, first I was the one that
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: said it. I was like, Doug, no, you're thinking to
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: somebody else.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: But then Donald tried Donald being a sweet friend, trying
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: to big up me. He was like, no, this is
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: Zach Braff. He made gardens guard person. Well, Donald starts
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: up listing my credits.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: And this he tried to walk away from us, like,
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: oh my bad. I was like, no, motherfucker, you're not.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: Definitely, it's definitely one of the cringiest moments of my
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: twenty twenty four especially because my my heart's sword, because
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: I love him and respect him so much as a
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: as a thespian, and he was he was talking to
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: me as though I would talk to you know, scor
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: and he was like, he was like what you do
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: no one can do. And I'm thank you. I mean,
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: he had like his hand on my chest and I
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: would just glowing from the inside. And then he said,
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: I mean chips, and I was like, oh my god.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: A So then I texted Dak Shepherd Johnny and I
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: was like, it is important for you to know how
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: much Michael Fassbender loves chips, because this compliment should not
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: be wasted on.
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: That was a righteous thing for you to do.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I was like, Bro, you need to know that
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: this is clearly a movie that means a lot to him.
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: I can also recommend the girl Kira Knightley Hell, I
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: love her.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: Yeah, she has something doves blackdoves, black, doves black.
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: She's freaking great. And the guy who was James Bond's
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: new gadget guy for a second, Ben's name Ben. He's something. Yeah,
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: he's a really handsome guy and he's great.
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: Daniel. You there, we looked that up. Ben.
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: He's such a good actor.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: Yeah he is. That's a good show. I watched that.
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: One, and you can binge the whole thing. So yes,
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: I am afraid this year I've been enjoying TV shows
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: more than movies.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: To tell you the truth, all right, I gotta ask
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: you both this question now.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: Okay, what was gonna happens?
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: Right now? Okay, come down as of right now? Gohad
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: if it was a movie or a television show that
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: was offered up, go ahead, what are you going to take? No,
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: they're both equally they're both equally impressive. You're going to
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: go TV shows?
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: What the TV show is going to mean? Not? The
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: TV show is going to mean more work of doing
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: the thing. You love. Yes, Daniel Ben with Shaw Ben,
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: thank you. He's a phenomenal actor.
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: That guy can throw.
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I fucking love that guy. He was.
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: He was Daniel Craig's new cue magic guy. That's it. Yeah, THQ.
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: And he was great. He was so glib and he
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: was great. He was really good and nominal in the
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: Cure Knightly Thing.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: He was really good in Mary Pott Mary Poppins reboot too.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: He was actually played the dad in it, and he
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: was I saw that. Yeah, I was the one person.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: I was the one person. But he was very dramatic
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: in it, and he had the dramatic role in the
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: movie and he did. He did a great job.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: Johnny Donald, may I have a question now? Yeah, go ahead, okay,
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: thank you Johnny. As one of New Jersey's most beloved sons,
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: what are your thoughts on New Jersey being infiltrated an
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: attack by drones and you have aliens?
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: Dude, what the fuck is going on?
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: I have had more contradicting reports on this, and it's
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: kind of fabulous to think that it is contact, isn't it.
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: Yes, I believe so.
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: It's easy to be cynical so quick, but it would
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: be really great if they picked the Garden State.
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: Yes, a touch point. It makes sense.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: MH.
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: It told it, thmas Alva Edison was in there, Alan Old,
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: Zach Braff, Johnny Jack Nicholson.
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: Well, listen the world. Many people don't know this, but
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: cinema itself began in West Orange, New Jersey. And there's
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: a museum, and there's a museum there where Edison invented
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: the film camera, and there's a there's a thing called
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: the Black Mariah. I know this because not because of
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: film school, because I, as a child, I was taken there,
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: which was a room, a large room mini the first
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: sound stage, if you will, not a sound stage, the
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: first the first room you filmed in. And it was
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: on a circular track with a retractable ceiling, and it
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: would spin to find the sun wherever the sun was.
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: You could rotate the room on the Black Mariah. You
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: can look this up on the.
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: Google and fucking date u Zuki you talk like this.
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: I would generators.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: I would date you.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: I gotta find really a really nice woman version of
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: Johnny c I would date it would.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: What is that Kim Peel sketch where they're boxers and
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: they're talking at their on the other day and they're
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: talking about the fight right before I'm talking yeah, and uh.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: One guy goes, all I'm saying, is we getting a ring.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: It's gonna be bam boom, I'm gonna knock you out.
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: And then the other guy kind of doesn't Mike Tyson talking.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: He's like, listen, the only thing that's gonna happen is
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: I'm gonna get in that ring and I'm gonna fuck
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: you in the ass. He's like what he goes, He goes, yeah, man,
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: he likes to get all in people's heads. He said, no, no, no,
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: I'm not talking about getting in your head. I'm talking
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: about getting in your asshole. I'm gonna I'm gonna love you.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: I'm gonna we're gonna go out on dates and we're
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: gonna i'm gonna take you out and we're just when
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: we're gonna get a couple that holds hands all the
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: time and just when we get comfortable, and everybody's like
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: looking at us, like, oh, there's such a sweet couple.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: They look like they go and do great things together.
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: I'm gonna take you home and I'm gonna enjoy fucking you. Yes,
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: you know what the you know what.
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: The problem we send the old storytellers like Donald is
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: I'm going to go watch this and it's not going
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: to be half as good.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: We'll send when we get off the phone. It's hilarious.
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: It makes you so sad that Jordan Peele seemingly doesn't
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: want to do sketch comedy ever again, because he was
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: one of the greats to ever do it. And it's
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: the funniest fucking sketch.
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: Hold on.
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: All than I do these days is send each other
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: on d MS back and forth, key and peel sketches.
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: Oh well, put me in I want I want to
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: be circled into as much as I should know.
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: On that front, they were brilliant and and uh and
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: on Instagram they sort of like cut them down, like
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: just like a minute a minute of the sketch. So
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: it's the funniest part.
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: Did you guys make We do it different than than resolutions.
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: We do intentions. We New Year's intentions. We have a
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: bonfire down at the beach and tiny one since they're
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: not in vogue, and then you write down your intention
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: on a little piece of paper and then you throw
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: it in the bonfire. Did you guys make any intentions
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: for twenty twenty five.
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: No, but we can right now in front of hundreds
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: of thousands of people, Donald's go.
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: I just want to get my health in check, my
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: family's health in check, you know what I mean. Like,
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: that's the that's the goal. I've already stopped drinking, I've
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: stopped smoking marijuana. I've you know, going to the gym.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: I'm going to the gym every day now. I'm trying
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: to get that. You know, I don't know if I'll
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: get a six pack again, but I'm going to try
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: not get.
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: If we do a scream boot, I think you should
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: be thin.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: You know, you never know. There's a lot, there's a
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: rabbit hole of things that could be in the way
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: of that. Like as far as you know, lactose intolerant
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: and sillyac does the all of these things, Julia, not
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: what's the where you where you're allergic to gluten? What's that?
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: That's that's siliac. But you you would know if you
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: have celiac, you have it. There's a test for it.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: You just might not. You might be gluten sensitive, but
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: that's not going to inhibit your ability.
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: But that's a good intention for twenty twenty five.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: I just want to get my health in check. I
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: know I can't I know I can't nurture it because
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: it's nature ultimately at the end of the day. But
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: I want to do my best to keep my family
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: and myself in good health. That's my intention for twenty
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: twenty five.
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: What about you, Jackie.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: I would like to to find love and all right
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: on and start a family. If it's not too late
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: for me. It might be too late for to sorrow family,
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: I don't know, but if it's not too late, I'd
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: like to have a family, start a family.
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: What do you mean too late? Do you mean because
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: you have do you do you have obstacles between your
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: ears or what do you mean?
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: I just mean I'm forty nine years old, and I
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: know there's plenty of people who have children up until
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: they die. But I just mean, you know, I'm in
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: a place now where I'm like, I'm not sure. I'm
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: on the fence if if I'm going to be someone
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: that has children or not. I feel like I could
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: be swayed either way depending on whom I fall in
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: love with and what and what she wants. I feel
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: like I could. I always thought I would definitely definitively
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: have children. But now I feel like I've reached a
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: place in an age where I'm like, I don't, I
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: don't know it could it could fall either way, but
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: I but I would like. I like the daydream of
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: the idea of having a child.
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: Donald, Did you know even early on, did you always
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: know you were going to be a father, that you
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: were going to be a papa Bear?
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: No, I had no clue. I didn't. I was I
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: I you know, No, I had no clue. But once
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: it happened and I experienced it, it became It's really gratifying. It's,
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: you know, watching yourself grow again. It really is like
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: a time machine.
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: You get to see you got better at it as
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: things have progressed.
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: No, I think I think I'm still learning. I think
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: the mistakes that I made in the past I'm not
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: going to make again. But I'm definitely.
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: Think that qualifies as as learning and growing and getting
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: better at it if you were to quantify it.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: But I could fuck these kids up. I could fuck
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: up rock or a wild or two. I'm sure of it.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: You know, I don't want.
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: Those against everything that you're about.
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: I don't think you're going to do that. Dude, you're
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: a really good dad. And also Casey keeps you on
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: the right track.
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, that's one thing that I did that I'm
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: very proud of, is that I chose the right person finally,
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: you know, I found the right one that you know,
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: I was married before. I dated a bunch of chicks
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: and all of that stuff. Chicks, I dated a bunch
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: of women and all of that stuff. But at the
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: end of the day, I found the right one and
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: and I know it. Zach.
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: I love you, Zach. I love you, like Zach was.
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: Just saying when he was leaning into And this is
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: the connective tissue, is Casey. It's a two way street man.
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: It's it's a two pronged front. It ain't a solo act,
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: otherwise you crash and burn. And for you, Zachi, to
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: know that you're going to lean into someone else with
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: Zach and whoever this other person is, that's at least
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: you got the blueprint down.
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I'm trying to put it. I'm trying to
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: manifest it and find my partner, my person.
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: The person that you can accept and the person that
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: accepts you is the when it happens you can't fight it, though,
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: you got to let it go, you know what I mean?
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: Like, well, you can in fact fight it.
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: But then you're fucking You're sabotaging yourself.
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: Of course, but people do that every day.
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: That's true.
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: I do that. That is true, Johnny. What about you?
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: What intention did you set for twenty twenty five?
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: I took about four years off here very much on purpose,
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: because I didn't like the sniveling, pedophile and Hitler leaders
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: and this kind of stereotype that white middle aged men
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: now are occupying in scripts, and so I turn everything
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: down for the last three or four years because they
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: didn't want to perpetuate whatever that stigma is. And also,
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: now white middle edged men are stupid, and if you
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: put me in front of a lens and say this,
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: this face is stupid, it's bad casting. And so you
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: get sent these things. And I didn't want to participate
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: in that storytelling, and so I didn't. And so I
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: got to be here for three or four years and
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: help with really some foundational value structuring with the two
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: girls and continue with MAXI, and everybody's in good shape.
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: And so I was bold enough to say, I'm going
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: to work my ass off this year as a storyteller,
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: not that I'm going to take time off as parenting,
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: but I am going to work fourteen and sixteen hour
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: days again.
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: Doesn't that and I'm good with it? Oh, I was
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: want to say, doesn't that scare you? Because that kind
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: of scares me now, Like I don't want to miss
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: I want to work. Also, I definitely want to get
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: out there and make shit happen. But I really enjoyed
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: since COVID, I really enjoyed being present and home with
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: my wife and children, you know what I mean?
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: And yeah, and Daddy, mom, I drive everybody. I'm Daddy
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: the driver. And what's great about being Daddy the driver?
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: And there's a this is a two pronged participation response
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: to you, Donald, what's great about being Daddy the drivers?
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: People chat in the back uh to their friends because
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: I'll drive their friends A B. There's no one else
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: on the planet you're safe for driving with me because nothing,
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: nothing is going to fucking happen and c unfortunately around here.
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: And d I'm sure you're you got to be arriving
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: at this pretty soon. I can hear a shot clock
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: ticking to when the girls get their licenses and they're
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: going to be the fuck out of here, just like
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: I was when Zaki and I in Jersey, when you
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: got your license, you were the fuck out. And that's
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: going to happen around here. And they're not going to
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: rely on me as much for simply getting them from
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: transporting them for a to B and so I relish
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: that responsibility. That is not a burden to me. It
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: never has been. Uh. And so when there's four or five,
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: you're back there and you're all chatty Kathy's I'm listening
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: to every goddamn syllable and it's fantastic. But I know
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: people are going to get their licenses here in a
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: minute or two and I'm not going to be needed
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: as much. And that makes me really sad.
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it makes me sad to know that I got
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: about eight years until they're definitely going to fucking bounce.
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: They're out, bounce, stare out.
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: It's in our DNA, It's it's in our back East
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: DNA when you can bounce about. These kids are not
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: going to be the I'm not casting this versions, but
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: there's a disproportionate number of young people who move back
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: into their people, their their parents' houses, and I get
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: the socioeconomics of it. These two.
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: Yah, yeah, I know the two I got right now.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: They pieces I can already tell. I can already tell.
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: My daughter's like she's ready to go now.
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: It's ridiculous, man, And so yes, that's the one thing
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: that scares me is I want to work, and I
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: want to work really, I want. I still want to
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: fulfill the dreams that I've had ever since I was
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: a kid. I still want to pursue this craft to
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: the fullest. But I don't want to miss out on
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: the stuff that I've experienced in the last four years.
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: The things that I've experienced in the last four years
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: have been so amazing, watching Rocko play basketball, wild to
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: getting into dance, you know what I mean. Like, there's
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: just so many things, you know, being there for my
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: other children when they needed me, you know what I mean.
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: There's so many other things that that I got to experience,
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: and I don't want to miss out on future stuff.
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: But I do want to work. I want to work
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: more more than anything.
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: Right now, I'm choosing to believe will be in a
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: position to find some modicum of balance. Whatever that looks like.
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: I don't know, but I'm choosing to believe that, given
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: our experienced position, we'll be able to exercise some decision making,
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: that we'll be able to integrate both work and participating
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: as a parent into the equation, don't.
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: You I hope so Zach said something that really hit
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: home for me. He was like, you know, I don't
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: I haven't given up on life. This is like, I'm
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: not don't quote, this isn't what he exactly said. I'm paraphrasing, obviously,
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: but I don't want to spend the next few years
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: being a workaholic, you know what I mean. I do
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: want to work, but I don't want to be so
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: stuck in my job that I'm missing everything that's coming
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: and that passes in front of me.
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's also my place where I feel like
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: I've been since I was, you know, graduated college to
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: now solely focused on on work and uh and and
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: haven't yet had a chance to have a family. And
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: so I'm in a different sort of slightly different priority
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: list than you guys, because you guys have made beautiful
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: families and I don't know, my mine's a little my
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: life's a little backwards that way, but it's the same.
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: It's the same conversation, Bro, you don't want to miss it.
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: Is the same conversation.
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: I just hope that I can find someone who is
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: down to make babies with me. Uh, Donald, would you
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: be willing to bear my children?
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: It'll be an ass baby.
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: I would love to get an ass baby in you.
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: For for the uninformed, what I think I know what
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: an ass baby is. What is an ass baby?
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: An ass baby is a fantasy creature that can grow
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: in Donald's asshole. I would grow in I would ejaculate
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: in his rectum, and mysteriously, our baby would grow, even
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: though he does not have a uterus in there. Something
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: would happen. Some magic magic is involved.
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: This is my first introduction to the concept of the as.
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: Yeah, Donald and I would make.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: That's the first explanation of ass forever.
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: Yes, that is what you're gonna have. Donald. If I
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: don't find a wife in the next five years, I
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: would like to tick you up on your offer to
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: have enough.
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: I didn't offer. I didn't offer my ass. I just
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: warned you that if there were to be a baby,
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: if you.
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: Don't want my penis inside you, we could do a
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: We could do Uh what do you call it? IVF
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: where we just in vitro into your butthole with my
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: seamen with like with a turkey baster. And on that note,
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: I think we should wrap up. Johnny, we love you,
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: so good to see you. Check out Johnny's podcast Connected Tissues,
