- 0:06So, what does that mean?
- 0:07Think about your routines right now.
- 0:10How do they benefit you?
- 0:12And by optimizing them, you can make them work better to help you in your day to day life.
- 0:20And today I'm going to give you eight tips to help you.
- 0:22Optimize yours to make them better.
- 0:25And let's get into the episode.
- 0:30You're listening to the stop, the mind screw podcast.
- 0:32I am your host, Kathie Owen.
- 0:34I have been a certified fitness trainer and certified life coach since 2002.
- 0:40On this channel, we talk about having a growth mindset, fitness, healthy habits, entrepreneurship, and even some Reality Transurfing.
- 0:50So we as entrepreneurs, team members, coaches, solopreneurs, and just life in general often have a lot on our plate.
- 1:00And it can be challenging to stay productive and focused.
- 1:04And the very first thing we need to do is optimize our routines for efficiency.
- 1:10A great way to optimize your routines starts with making a list.
- 1:16Question number one.
- 1:17How do you structure your daily habits?
- 1:20Question number two.
- 1:22Do you plan your day in advance?
- 1:25Question number three, how can you combine new habits?
- 1:29And tasks on a daily basis.
- 1:32And question number four, can you use certain tools to help with concentration and focus?
- 1:39And question number five.
- 1:42What does a productive day look like in your mind?
- 1:48I invite you to download the mind map that goes with this episode and build off of that mind map on your own.
- 1:54Those five questions will be at the very top of the mind map.
- 1:58So what you can do with that is you can start answering those questions and building on that and on a daily basis.
- 2:04And that is one of the best ways.
- 2:06First of all, to learn something new, second of all, to teach something new and third of all, to hold yourself accountable.
- 2:15You can download that mind map at kathieowen.com/mindmap.
- 2:21Let's get into that episode.
- 2:23Number one, let's start with number one.
- 2:25And it seems like this has been number one on many different occasions.
- 2:29So it's really something to focus on and that is to set clear goals.
- 2:35Before you even begin your day, take a few minutes to set clear SMART goals for what you want to accomplish this day.
- 2:44A smart goal is specific.
- 2:46It is measurable.
- 2:48It is attainable.
- 2:49It is relevant.
- 2:51And it's on a timetable such as today.
- 2:56We must keep these SMART goals relevant for one single day.
- 3:01For example, if your big goal is to lose 15 pounds.
- 3:06A smart goal would look like this for a single day.
- 3:11A smart goal would look like this for a single day.
- 3:15Specific exercise for 30 minutes today.
- 3:19Measurable did I exercise for 30 minutes today?
- 3:23Attainable 30 minutes is the minimum time of movement for every human being.
- 3:29So it is attainable.
- 3:32Relevant 30 minutes of activity will help you maintain a healthy weight.
- 3:37And time it will happen today.
- 3:41Number two, prioritize your tasks.
- 3:44Once you have your goals in mind, it is helpful to make a list of the tasks that you need to complete to achieve them.
- 3:51Then we want to prioritize those tasks.
- 3:54Based on importance and tackle the most important tasks first.
- 4:00One of the most important things you can do for your health is get 30 minutes of movement in per day.
- 4:05This has proven to be helpful for your health, both mental and physical.
- 4:11And I'd argue.
- 4:13I would personally argue that this is the most important thing you can do in your life?
- 4:20The perfect morning routine.
- 4:22And my professional opinion is one that includes exercise.
- 4:26Research shows us that early morning exercise improves the positive neurotransmitters in your brain, like dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, and anandamide, these neuro-transmitters will help you have a healthy mindset all day long and, and who wouldn't want that?
- 4:46In a nutshell, this is prioritizing your task and ensuring your stress levels will stay low for the entire day.
- 4:55Number three, use the Pomodoro technique.
- 4:58This is a time management method that involves breaking your work into short focused intervals.
- 5:05Usually about 25 minutes with short breaks in between.
- 5:09This can help you stay focused and avoid burnout.
- 5:13This technique is helpful in ending procrastination and it will supercharge at your work day routine.
- 5:20You'll be able to dive into deep flow-based work and create your ideal distraction, free work environment.
- 5:30I invite you to research.
- 5:33Technique apps on your smartphone for the best help with this method.
- 5:38This can help you stay focused and avoid burnout.
- 5:41And to me, that is one of the healthy habits that will help you all day long.
- 5:49Number four.
- 5:50Eliminate distractions.
- 5:52Distractions can be a major productivity killer.
- 5:56And in today's world, we have distractions everywhere.
- 5:59I don't even probably need to tell you this, but it's kind of important to eliminate them as much as possible.
- 6:07Eliminating distractions might mean closing unnecessary tabs on your computer, turning off your phone or working in a quiet space.
- 6:16A simple habit of eliminating distractions may be just the thing you need to help boost your routines.
- 6:24And the good news is eliminating distractions is very good for your mental health.
- 6:31Number five take breaks.
- 6:33It is important to take regular breaks to rest and recharge.
- 6:37This too can help you stay focused and avoid burnout.
- 6:40Why not use the Pomodoro method break.
- 6:44And take a walk in nature.
- 6:46This will have so many positive effects in your life.
- 6:49For some inspiration.
- 6:51Let me share something with you about Charles Darwin's thinking path.
- 6:57So while working on his famous theory of evolution, Charles Darwin took a daily walk and this helps to exercise his mind and his body.
- 7:07And he used it to think and just to observe walking the same route each day from his house through shady woods and back along private trails, he.
- 7:18Referred to this as his thinking path.
- 7:22Our brains and minds need to be focused on something going forward.
- 7:26Not like this.
- 7:27And keeping our focus forward at this kind of level.
- 7:32So exercising and focusing forward is really good for your posture.
- 7:37A number one, and number two, it's also good for your mind because it needs that balance of sitting at a computer.
- 7:44And then taking that walk where you just walking and observing in nature and it gives you a great break.
- 7:52So I want you to be thinking about where will your walking path be?
- 7:57It will prove to be one of those good habits to get into on a regular basis.
- 8:01And benefit you for the rest of the day, every single day.
- 8:08Number six, reflect and adjust at the end of the day, take a few minutes to reflect on your progress.
- 8:15What did you accomplish today?
- 8:17What can you do differently tomorrow?
- 8:19Use this information to adjust your goals and plan for the next day, which we will discuss next.
- 8:27I absolutely loved the Pruning Shears of Revision Lecture from Neville Goddard.
- 8:32I will have a link to that in the show notes in the description below.
- 8:36And I love it for the very reason that he teaches us to reflect and adjust.
- 8:43And he teaches us to do this in a state akin to sleep, or when our brainwaves are in theta, review it completely once, then review it and rewrite the parts of your day that were not ideal.
- 8:56Perhaps you got reactive to something.
- 8:59And rewrite it in your mind, how you wish it would have happened.
- 9:03For example, let's say, um, during that day you had a meeting and you were in a state of reactivity with a fellow team member.
- 9:11And you just did not start that meeting off on the right foot.
- 9:15Well, at the end of the day, you can reflect on this and then rewrite it in the state akin to sleep.
- 9:22This method affects your subconscious mind tremendously.
- 9:27And when done often you will find the next day that others will react differently to you.
- 9:32It is extremely powerful and I invite you to try it for yourself because that's the only way you're really going to see it to believe it.
- 9:40It will be one of the very best things you can do in your life.
- 9:43I'm not kidding.
- 9:46I also like to make a gratitude list for the day and reflect on this as well.
- 9:51And this is.
- 9:53This is one of the good things about reflection and it helps build more positive vibes and is definitely one of the positive things to include in your day to day routines.
- 10:04Number seven plan your next day.
- 10:07It is always a good idea, before you end your workday, to spend a few minutes planning what you will do the next day.
- 10:14Make a to-do list and prioritize tasks.
- 10:17I'll say it again.
- 10:19I love Notion for this, but you can use Asana or any other similar app.
- 10:25Create a daily to-do list and check off what you did that day and add what needs to be done tomorrow.
- 10:32The reason I mentioned doing this in number six in reflect and adjust is that this is a part of a solid daily routine.
- 10:41It is a powerful way to make sure your routines are stable and that nothing can interfere and notion is a great app to keep a list of the things that help you stay on track and not procrastinate Procrastination is for those who do not have a solid daily routine.
- 10:59I'm going to repeat that procrastination is for those who do not have a solid daily routine and that is not you or you would not be watching this episode Or listening to it.
- 11:14Last but certainly not least is my favorite exercise.
- 11:20It is recommended that we all get at least 30 minutes of movement in our days this is one of the best things you can do to improve your mind your body and your spirit.
- 11:32Honestly and in my professional opinion exercise is the best part of your morning ritual.
- 11:39Why?
- 11:40Because exercise boosts healthy levels of brain chemicals like I mentioned earlier and will enhance your productivity and success in your day.
- 11:50Let me repeat that and I know I say that a lot but i have to repeat the things that are so so important because it not only as a reminder to myself but also as a reminder to those that I help.
- 12:02Exercise boosts healthy levels of your brain chemicals.
- 12:06And will enhance your productivity, and your success in your day.
- 12:13Now i get it early mornings may not be your thing.
- 12:16But early morning exercise is a great way to start your day.
- 12:20Honestly i'd rather be asleep at five 30 in the morning.
- 12:24But ever since i left that comfort zone of sleep far behind I find my day to be successful I am in better shape than ever. And it is worth the so-called hard work of waking up an hour earlier just to feel that energy boost that I need every single day.
- 12:47And as a certified fitness trainer for 20 plus years now and a corporate wellness director I have several blog posts on fitness and how it improves your life.
- 12:57And be sure to check them out they will be linked in the show notes and the description.
- 13:02And they are at www.kathiesfitblog.com.
- 13:06And add exercise as part of your healthier routine Now is a great time to start to.
- 13:12Yes I said now.
- 13:15Remember the key to building a productive routine is to find what works for you.
- 13:21And stick with it.
- 13:22Experiment with different techniques and strategies until you find a system that you feel comfortable with and make adjustments as needed.
- 13:30You will be among the successful people with a productive entrepreneurial routine.
- 13:37Use the tips i listed here and you will find a positive daily routine that serves you.
- 13:43And you'll find that stressful situation that you encountered before is long gone in your rear view mirror.
- 13:52Here are the eight tips that help optimize your daily routines for a great mindset.
- 13:57Number one set clear goals.
- 14:00Number two, prioritize your tasks.
- 14:03Number three use the pomodoro technique.
- 14:06Number four eliminate distractions.
- 14:09Number five take breaks.
- 14:11Number six reflect and adjust.
