- 0:00Speaker 1: You watch your Boy came on stage. This is the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Bob Brothers Podcast. Today we are reviewing a movie that
- 0:08Speaker 1: just came out this past weekend called The End of
- 0:14Speaker 1: Oak Street starring uh Ann Hathaway and uh your Boy
- 0:21Speaker 1: from Star Wars. You and McGregor Tony Baker give us
- 0:25Speaker 1: the Bald Brothers review on the numbers Box Office Nerve.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Okay, so this movie opened, uh this past weekend. It
- 0:36Speaker 2: was released on Wait a minute, let me get that.
- 0:41Speaker 2: It was released on What the hell is this? Okay,
- 0:47Speaker 2: where's the release date? Anyway, just came out this past weekend. Okay,
- 0:51Speaker 2: budget of eighty five million dollars hikes, Yeah, eighty five million.
- 0:55Speaker 2: It's crazy, don't it.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Don't look that expensive, not at all.
- 0:59Speaker 1: He was a CJ.
- 1:00Speaker 2: It's a period piece, so you got to get clothing
- 1:03Speaker 2: and the houses and everything had to match the aesthetic
- 1:06Speaker 2: of nineteen eighty two. But still eighty five million dollar budget.
- 1:11Speaker 2: It had a twenty one million dollar domestic opening and
- 1:14Speaker 2: another twenty six million international for forty eight point nine
- 1:19Speaker 2: million dollar opening. Now, given theaters getting their cuts, marketing
- 1:26Speaker 2: and promotion, a movie usually has to earn two and
- 1:30Speaker 2: a half times it's budget. To be considered break even
- 1:34Speaker 2: point so eighty five million times two point five and
- 1:41Speaker 2: we're looking at twenty How you be doing this one
- 1:46Speaker 2: thirty to twelve a week two twelve fifty eighty five
- 1:51Speaker 2: times two point five.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Two point five? I was doing one point five twelve thirty.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Two thirteen is what they need to hit the break
- 2:00Speaker 2: even and then sliding the profitability with this opening that's
- 2:05Speaker 2: considered soft. Yeah, it's a soft it's a soft launch.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Twenty one million. I'm sure they was hoping for more.
- 2:10Speaker 2: It is Warner Brothers, and but this.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I don't I only heard about this movie because you
- 2:16Speaker 1: you told me. Yeah, I didn't hear a peep about that.
- 2:20Speaker 1: And I was like, Anne Hathaway got another movie coming
- 2:23Speaker 1: out this summer. She was just in the Odyssey a
- 2:26Speaker 1: few weeks ago.
- 2:27Speaker 3: She had Devil Wears Proud of two.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Dang, that's also this year. Hers and Dad like, I
- 2:33Speaker 1: don't know, I'm gonna get four movies out. Yeah, because
- 2:36Speaker 1: then dad still got.
- 2:37Speaker 2: She still got dude on the slates. She did the
- 2:40Speaker 2: drama Spider Man ot.
- 2:43Speaker 1: See, so Zen Day are gonna probably win the box office?
- 2:47Speaker 3: Oh yeah, they both already got. She already got.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Uh, spider Man, spider Man, I ain't doing gonna probably
- 2:54Speaker 1: man alone.
- 2:54Speaker 2: It's just yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And with this so
- 2:58Speaker 2: he said it was twenty million open, twenty one.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Million over the weekend. Yeah, domestic, forty forty eight worldwide.
- 3:06Speaker 1: You considering twenty thirty percent.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Drop off, Yeah, it's gonna drop because you know, it
- 3:10Speaker 2: got a B cinema score. Cinema scores at tally where
- 3:13Speaker 2: they talked to people that left the movie, but you
- 3:16Speaker 2: give it, you know what I'm saying. So overall it's
- 3:17Speaker 2: got like a B average, which is solid, but it's
- 3:19Speaker 2: not like word of mouth. That's not a word of
- 3:22Speaker 2: mouth grade that you want, no for long legs.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Not like an obsession thing like yeah, gotta go yeah
- 3:28Speaker 1: check out the end of Oak Street.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Yeah, And even though the critics liked it, but the
- 3:33Speaker 2: audience was.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Just like it was cool.
- 3:36Speaker 1: That's how I felt it was a good Now. The
- 3:38Speaker 1: interesting thing for me is I had heard nothing about
- 3:41Speaker 1: this movie. I didn't see a trailer. You was like,
- 3:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna check out the end of Oak Street. I
- 3:44Speaker 1: was like, oh cool, I'll check it out. Yeah, we
- 3:46Speaker 1: can talk about the podcast. I ain't seen nobody talk
- 3:49Speaker 1: about it online after that, Yeah, I only saw you.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I ain't seen not a thread a trailer. I mean
- 3:57Speaker 1: literally had no idea this movie. If you didn't text me,
- 4:00Speaker 1: I would be like, yeah, man.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Because I've been hearing good things critically before before it
- 4:06Speaker 2: came out. So I was like, they're in the old
- 4:08Speaker 2: street cam and so I thought it was gonna be,
- 4:11Speaker 2: you know, do a little bit better given that it
- 4:13Speaker 2: was up against you know, the Odyssey still doing well
- 4:15Speaker 2: and Spider Man is just a vacuum. So it was
- 4:17Speaker 2: just like it might it might you know, creep up
- 4:20Speaker 2: and be like a sleeper hit for the summer, you know,
- 4:23Speaker 2: if critics like it, and then the audience is just like,
- 4:27Speaker 2: it's cool. And then they fumbled in the In the promo,
- 4:31Speaker 2: apparently they did some AI ship with the dog, the
- 4:35Speaker 2: dog Starbuck.
- 4:36Speaker 3: They had him like he was being interviewed. They said
- 4:39Speaker 3: they didn't go over well.
- 4:40Speaker 1: So I was just like, there was such an obvious
- 4:42Speaker 1: CGI with that dog scene, and I never knowiced cg Yeah,
- 4:48Speaker 1: but when the obviously if you yeah, spoilers, mcgig spoilers,
- 4:53Speaker 1: y'all big spoils. Well, actually, before we get to there,
- 4:57Speaker 1: we should tell them what the movie is so you're
- 4:59Speaker 1: not gonna watch it break break it down.
- 5:00Speaker 3: To this movie about it.
- 5:02Speaker 2: It's a it's a family and perfect on the surface,
- 5:05Speaker 2: nuclear family in the suburbs in a random city.
- 5:10Speaker 3: They never say what city in particular.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Like anywhere USA.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Basically great family that looks perfect on the surface, but
- 5:17Speaker 2: they're having issues in their marriage and so they just
- 5:21Speaker 2: live in life. And there's been these weird anomalies going on,
- 5:26Speaker 2: like these flashes. It was just like lights and like
- 5:28Speaker 2: you know, in the middle of the night, sometimes during
- 5:31Speaker 2: the day. It's just weird things going on within the neighborhood.
- 5:34Speaker 2: And one of the neighbors like, look at this plant.
- 5:36Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. It just grew in my yard.
- 5:38Speaker 2: It wasn't here yesterday, yet this grewing today.
- 5:42Speaker 3: And so.
- 5:44Speaker 2: You know, she takes us to the library and it's
- 5:46Speaker 2: just like, yo, this looks like a plant that was
- 5:47Speaker 2: like around two hundred million years ago.
- 5:50Speaker 1: What you crazy girl for historic plant?
- 5:53Speaker 2: Yeah, And nobody's thinking, you know, none the wiser. So
- 5:57Speaker 2: and then one night, you know, there's this big lash.
- 6:00Speaker 2: It's big you know, vacuum and sound. And then when
- 6:04Speaker 2: they emerged the next day, they find that they're in
- 6:09Speaker 2: They're in Earth two hundred and fifty million years ago.
- 6:13Speaker 2: So now it's dinosaurs roaming around. Their whole neighborhood got
- 6:17Speaker 2: transported into a different era of time on Earth and
- 6:21Speaker 2: they're trapped.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Dinosaurs are just walking down your city stores, walking down.
- 6:25Speaker 1: You can't get out of the neighborhood like they quickly
- 6:27Speaker 1: tried to drive and it's like you go over here,
- 6:29Speaker 1: over a cliff, it's a chasm covered by water. Like, yeah,
- 6:33Speaker 1: you got like.
- 6:33Speaker 3: A no more road, no more.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Paved roads, it's just pure two hundred and fifty million
- 6:39Speaker 2: years ago.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Once you get to the edge of your street, Yeah,
- 6:41Speaker 3: you use chasm.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Four blocks any one way was about as far as
- 6:46Speaker 1: you could get.
- 6:47Speaker 2: That's it, and your whole shit was transported. Now it's
- 6:50Speaker 2: kind of like the Last House.
- 6:52Speaker 1: A little bit, just about to say that because the.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Power of them went out, you ain't got no power.
- 6:56Speaker 1: You just stuck in your neighborhood versus your actual So
- 7:00Speaker 1: I regig your actual neighborhood is imagine that is it? Yeah,
- 7:04Speaker 1: your subdivision is as far as you can go. And
- 7:06Speaker 1: there's t rex, birds, snakes, turtles, alligators, all the big all,
- 7:13Speaker 1: all the big night everything's big first of all.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Yeah, and they lucky it wasn't no dragonflies.
- 7:19Speaker 2: And because those were huge, big man, big swool back then,
- 7:24Speaker 2: and so so the depends just never stood a chance. Man,
- 7:29Speaker 2: you see cats in the community getting snatched up. It
- 7:31Speaker 2: was just like, so this family has to navigate on
- 7:35Speaker 2: what the hell is happening? How are we going to
- 7:38Speaker 2: survive this? And you know they still they still get
- 7:41Speaker 2: their little marital issues within this.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Can you imagine tone the family's on the verge of divorce,
- 7:47Speaker 1: the husband and wife on the verge of divorce. The
- 7:49Speaker 1: wife has written a book about leaving her husband. The
- 7:52Speaker 1: husband got laid off, been lying to the wife about it.
- 7:56Speaker 1: And they got the dinosaurs on top of marital problem.
- 7:59Speaker 1: And they still got marital problems still within.
- 8:02Speaker 2: The board and the house up to survive from big
- 8:05Speaker 2: ass dinosaurs.
- 8:06Speaker 3: They still fussing. Still, you've been drinking.
- 8:08Speaker 1: You got damn running and drinking.
- 8:11Speaker 3: You need to take a swig as well.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Just dinosaurs outside our neighbor got eaten by dinosaur birds. Yeah,
- 8:20Speaker 1: I took a swiggle whiskey two weeks ago. It's because
- 8:23Speaker 1: I was uncommondy as a man today is fully justified.
- 8:27Speaker 3: It's fully you need to get some of this hennessy.
- 8:30Speaker 2: We need to give it to the kids as well.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Might as well that we need to all be drunk
- 8:37Speaker 2: when these raptors come in here and eat us a lot. Man,
- 8:40Speaker 2: I don't want to his ship else, Man, take a swig.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Kids, kids are gonna learn today.
- 8:48Speaker 2: So the vibe in the esthetic is this will be
- 8:50Speaker 2: a nice little refresher. It's like a Steven spielberg S
- 8:54Speaker 2: type movie, you know, summer popcorn fun. How's this family
- 8:57Speaker 2: gonna get out of this? But it's a little dark
- 8:59Speaker 2: and little bit edgier than it may seem on the surface.
- 9:02Speaker 1: I thought PG thirteen movie at first.
- 9:04Speaker 3: It's not no, it's it's r o snap.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a lot of blood.
- 9:11Speaker 3: I thought them PG thirteen, it's thirteen.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Yeah, they had dinosaur sex.
- 9:18Speaker 3: They did, and dinosaurs was.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Had dinosaur long neck, dinosaur pumps pumps.
- 9:24Speaker 2: I was crying, Oh, I was not slow pumps. Can
- 9:34Speaker 2: you imagine dinosaurs just pumping on your house and they're
- 9:37Speaker 2: like the woman was gripping on the roof of the house,
- 9:43Speaker 2: just taking the pumps, just like these are big bronosaur.
- 9:51Speaker 1: These as giving out prehistoric pumps gain.
- 9:58Speaker 3: You just gotta you just gotta let them finish what
- 10:00Speaker 3: you gonna do.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Imagine in your house destroyed by bronosaurs peen.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Yet that was funny to see, though.
- 10:12Speaker 2: There was another moment was down as eating and it
- 10:14Speaker 2: was pooping at the same time. I was like, details,
- 10:17Speaker 2: because they're gonna be pooping like horses. They gonna be
- 10:20Speaker 2: dumping like.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Would horses be walking, and just do to it. I'd
- 10:23Speaker 1: be like, man, horses don't care.
- 10:25Speaker 2: They be looking at you dead not you're talking to
- 10:27Speaker 2: this is a beautiful creature. They be like, glad you
- 10:31Speaker 2: like what you see?
- 10:35Speaker 3: Dude, right there you face the city. Sw I'm glad
- 10:39Speaker 3: you're like what you see?
- 10:40Speaker 2: We're going for a ride, hop on, hop on.
- 10:48Speaker 3: But but man, like I can tell like the rider
- 10:50Speaker 3: of this movie.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Now, now we're going into the spoiler bill y'all, big spoiler.
- 10:55Speaker 2: So if you if you don't want to be spoiled up,
- 10:57Speaker 2: now's your chance to run. But if if you don't mind,
- 11:00Speaker 2: we just gonna talk about whatever.
- 11:02Speaker 3: So you I.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Wonder what the writer's relationship was with his brother, because
- 11:06Speaker 2: clearly he don't like young boys, right, because that son
- 11:13Speaker 2: character was absolute uselessness.
- 11:16Speaker 1: It was this son.
- 11:18Speaker 3: He was useless.
- 11:19Speaker 1: He had a bow and arrow for this whole movie.
- 11:24Speaker 1: He missed ninety eight point nine.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Percent of the shot and the only reason he got
- 11:29Speaker 2: the final shot is because you couldn't miss.
- 11:31Speaker 1: The thing was the snake was in the house. It
- 11:35Speaker 1: covered the whole door frame. He hit one shot. He
- 11:38Speaker 1: was one for eighty eight.
- 11:40Speaker 2: That was like being playing duck Hunt, being right on
- 11:42Speaker 2: the TV screen like boom, and it took him.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Average fire off.
- 11:47Speaker 1: And then he went out there to find the dog
- 11:50Speaker 1: and that pulled up, which I get. You know, you
- 11:52Speaker 1: don't want your dog to die. Yeah, but that pulled
- 11:54Speaker 1: the family into the I mean, honestly, didn't matter where
- 11:56Speaker 1: y'all was going, he was gonna die.
- 11:58Speaker 3: He was getting on my nerves by they got damn
- 12:00Speaker 3: dug man.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Starbuck. The Starbuck was a minute obviously was he was.
- 12:06Speaker 3: He was a throwing in the neighbor's side. Starbuck didn't listen.
- 12:10Speaker 2: The mom was like, yo, don't bring that dog out
- 12:12Speaker 2: here to this little black party. And he's like, dare
- 12:15Speaker 2: say I can bring start because start that lets you know,
- 12:17Speaker 2: Starbuck is just round for the night. So he missing
- 12:20Speaker 2: in action. You think the dinosaurs.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Got he like man starbuck man.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Then he got a little crush on the new girl,
- 12:26Speaker 2: and then his sister takes the new girl from him.
- 12:30Speaker 1: I feel like that was a little gayness.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Oh this big game, it was nick game was together. Yeah,
- 12:35Speaker 2: and so he is that happened. He gets this girl
- 12:38Speaker 2: taken by his sister.
- 12:41Speaker 1: No, man, she's the only girl left on on earth.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Basically for you, one.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Girl, one girl. Then it banness you up, eye contact
- 12:54Speaker 3: got her and you just.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Over there with your bow and arrow, like just use
- 12:58Speaker 2: his mom, mom, what we gonna do? He was the
- 13:02Speaker 2: main one saying what we're gonna do?
- 13:04Speaker 1: I love when an.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Shut the hell up.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Man, I don't know. Parents need to be like that.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Sure, when we had.
- 13:11Speaker 1: The wildfires going, Isaiah looked me dead in my eye
- 13:14Speaker 1: and was like, father, what are we gonna do? I
- 13:16Speaker 1: was like, I don't know. I ain't never been in
- 13:19Speaker 1: no wildfires.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Man.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Where we put every time you go down the street,
- 13:23Speaker 1: it's a fire.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Yeah, you go to the.
- 13:25Speaker 1: North, now it's a fire. Say I don't know. Forty
- 13:30Speaker 1: two years old, brother, ain't nobody. I never lived nowhere
- 13:33Speaker 1: with no wildfires. Your guess is as good as mine.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I would have lost my I would have lost my temper.
- 13:39Speaker 3: Her her temper lose was more than valid.
- 13:41Speaker 1: For sure, what are we going to do fresh from
- 13:44Speaker 1: that trauma? And by the way, at this point, they
- 13:48Speaker 1: all just seeing their dad get eating a lot. God
- 13:51Speaker 1: he hit the Now this part was ridiculous. He hit
- 13:54Speaker 1: the t recks of the mouth with a sledgehammer that
- 13:56Speaker 1: got knocked out like a human being.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Briefly, I was like, all right, come on, man, you
- 14:01Speaker 3: got hitting that jaw.
- 14:02Speaker 1: He got me, but come on, told you hit her
- 14:05Speaker 1: t rexx with a sledgehipman. It was like, oh, ain't
- 14:08Speaker 1: no way. You saw he basically socked the dinosaur. It
- 14:12Speaker 1: immediately got up and murdered you.
- 14:15Speaker 3: It was just a brief you you got you one.
- 14:17Speaker 1: But still the biggest They are just thinking they scared.
- 14:19Speaker 1: He was like. They was like, man got out, pulled
- 14:26Speaker 1: his leg off, blood gushion and then their dad just
- 14:30Speaker 1: gets eating and they was like, which was realistic.
- 14:34Speaker 3: And Hathaway's reaction to him didn't need bath. Let me
- 14:38Speaker 3: tell you all this.
- 14:38Speaker 2: I've said this before about this woman. She could act
- 14:42Speaker 2: her ass off and has the way Yeah love her.
- 14:44Speaker 2: When she when she witnessed her husband getting eaten. The
- 14:49Speaker 2: way she just completely shut down for a moment and
- 14:53Speaker 2: was just like just she was on You could tell
- 14:56Speaker 2: she was in shock, auto pilot, just the worst thing.
- 15:00Speaker 3: And they all saw it, and it was just like it.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Was like Spike Lee almost how Spike Lee's characters be
- 15:06Speaker 1: like frozen in time. Yeah, they didn't do that camera shot,
- 15:09Speaker 1: but the way she was walking, she was just like,
- 15:10Speaker 1: but imagine your girlfriend getting eaten alive.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Man, your wife, you've.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Been together probably fifteen years at the time. Even if
- 15:17Speaker 1: you were beefing, it's like we beefing, but I don't
- 15:20Speaker 1: want you to get eating right in the she front
- 15:23Speaker 1: row for sure, right here, and the kids got to
- 15:27Speaker 1: have to see their dad get eaten.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Oh my god. They were all there that that was
- 15:31Speaker 3: crazy part. Everybody was just and I was like.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Oh, I was so loud in Theodore Alpus had to
- 15:38Speaker 1: apologize people.
- 15:43Speaker 3: All because once he got his legs, he lost half
- 15:45Speaker 3: his leg.
- 15:46Speaker 2: I was like, all right, he's gonna be hobbling around
- 15:48Speaker 2: the rest of it.
- 15:50Speaker 3: It's not going on finished them all.
- 15:53Speaker 2: And she just had to walk away while the dinosaur
- 15:55Speaker 2: was completing the meal, for sure.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Because otherwise I'm gonna eat y'all next.
- 16:00Speaker 3: You lucky.
- 16:01Speaker 1: I'm focused on your husband. He said. He sacrificed his
- 16:05Speaker 1: life for you because she had the gun. Dinosaur ate
- 16:07Speaker 1: the gun. He's about to get murdered. She about to
- 16:11Speaker 1: get murdered. He hit the dinosaur in the cave with
- 16:13Speaker 1: a sledgehammer, and he was like he was.
- 16:17Speaker 2: A rogue, though, he said, because I hate I hate
- 16:19Speaker 2: it when they tell people to run. The dinosaur got
- 16:22Speaker 2: a pinned on the porch, like run.
- 16:24Speaker 1: You you.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Think she ain't think of that? This this whole runner
- 16:33Speaker 2: you you think she didn't think about running? Clearly she's
- 16:36Speaker 2: trapped on the porch.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Run, nigga. What she would have heard me say that
- 16:43Speaker 3: from behind the dinosaur?
- 16:45Speaker 1: What run? Tom?
- 16:47Speaker 3: And you just telling me to run?
- 16:50Speaker 1: Hey, man, shut the hell out, man, I can't go nowhere.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Now I'm pissed off. Just eat me, man, I'm pinned down.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Just eat me, man, because now I'm pissed off off.
- 17:00Speaker 3: This is how I knew she was gonna be about
- 17:02Speaker 3: that action in the movie when she when she rolled
- 17:04Speaker 3: up on uh.
- 17:05Speaker 2: The old lady that she liked Miss Cuddles, Cuddles and
- 17:09Speaker 2: puddles Huddles were funny ass last name.
- 17:15Speaker 3: But she went in there and grabbed that shot gun immediately.
- 17:17Speaker 1: OKAYU off the dead body and there you know they
- 17:20Speaker 1: see the factor in the lady.
- 17:22Speaker 3: You see pictures of her with a hunting rifle or whatever.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Oh I missed that.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I was like, okay, that's why she was nice.
- 17:27Speaker 3: She grabbed that rifle immediately.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Can you imagine being a relationship in the apocalypse. Would
- 17:32Speaker 1: you let your girl run the gun and you on sledgehammer.
- 17:35Speaker 2: And she was more skilled with the gun. Play Yeah,
- 17:38Speaker 2: if we only got one gun. Yeah, and I already
- 17:40Speaker 2: know she about that life. That's the smartest play. When
- 17:44Speaker 2: he all got to go out the window, Dug, Yes, yeah,
- 17:48Speaker 2: we the better shooter needs to have the gun. It
- 17:50Speaker 2: would be like this useless son of mine with the
- 17:53Speaker 2: guy damn bow and arrow.
- 17:54Speaker 1: I was so happy when he got beat up. He
- 17:56Speaker 1: got beat up by a bully in the middle of
- 17:58Speaker 1: her apocalypse smoke for him and beat them. I mean,
- 18:03Speaker 1: bloody Paul and.
- 18:04Speaker 2: He just laying there beat up. Dinosaur is still still out.
- 18:08Speaker 2: He gonna lay that after the beat down. Like man, Dug,
- 18:11Speaker 2: I got beat up.
- 18:13Speaker 1: It was so funny to me. I felt like an
- 18:16Speaker 1: evil person.
- 18:17Speaker 3: This boy was useless.
- 18:18Speaker 1: You can imagine, like a bully, like I don't care
- 18:20Speaker 1: if I died later on the day. I told you.
- 18:23Speaker 1: It was on site when ninety seen you broke my
- 18:25Speaker 1: brother's arm. He was wiser too.
- 18:28Speaker 3: He was hiding on the side of the house.
- 18:31Speaker 1: This is that motherfucker right there.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Hiding from t REX and he's like, nah, man, look
- 18:36Speaker 2: at the school to set the man.
- 18:37Speaker 3: You broke my brother's arm.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Brother behind with the brother, all them out.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Our parents are like, man, fuck this ship right here. Man,
- 18:46Speaker 3: come on. He didn't care nothing about that but his
- 18:49Speaker 3: broken He like, what are you doing?
- 18:52Speaker 2: He was like, man, I'm sorry, man, I just gotta
- 18:54Speaker 2: do something I can control. I can control beating this
- 18:56Speaker 2: weakling down. Because that kid was a weakling.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Yeah, he had no redeeming qualities and loving his dog.
- 19:04Speaker 1: When it was time to jumps in the portal.
- 19:07Speaker 2: And then let it mom, come on, man, this kid
- 19:13Speaker 2: was the word.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Had time to jump here were here fine? She was like, no,
- 19:18Speaker 1: do it right now. As soon as it popped open
- 19:20Speaker 1: jump he donecounted more his girlfriend that he lost, jumped
- 19:23Speaker 1: in purple jump and swoos. He lied.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Man, fuck y'all.
- 19:29Speaker 2: This boy was useless dog one to one to one too.
- 19:36Speaker 2: I'm like, whoever wrote this character was just like I
- 19:39Speaker 2: can't stand my brother. I can't stand my brother.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Also super whack to find out your your wife's been
- 19:46Speaker 1: writing a book about how much she hates this family.
- 19:49Speaker 1: She had edits and stuff. He read it too. It's like,
- 19:52Speaker 1: I read your little book.
- 19:53Speaker 3: I read your little Boy.
- 19:55Speaker 1: She's like, no, no, it was just a story.
- 19:56Speaker 3: He was like, man, ship, old lady told you that too.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Because I was listening in. She's like, she told the
- 20:05Speaker 3: old lady. She was like, no, it's not about my line.
- 20:07Speaker 3: She was like, all right, all right, man.
- 20:12Speaker 1: It's quite obvious about your life.
- 20:14Speaker 3: I've been doing this for years. What it is?
- 20:18Speaker 1: Yeah, all right to smooth jazz review. Man.
- 20:21Speaker 2: So with all that being said, I cared about the family.
- 20:26Speaker 2: I cared about the dynamic and what was going on.
- 20:28Speaker 2: I like Anne Hathaway's character. Of course, you know they
- 20:33Speaker 2: was doing some dumb ship in there, but I feel
- 20:34Speaker 2: like the dumb ship was to a minimum.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Some of the special effects was kind of just like, oh,
- 20:40Speaker 2: some tough, horribly bad.
- 20:42Speaker 1: The dog getting picked up by the bird.
- 20:44Speaker 2: They dog was getting on my goddamn nervous Starbucks. But
- 20:47Speaker 2: he came through when it was clutched, when the boy
- 20:50Speaker 2: was helpless again. And I did like the ending. I
- 20:55Speaker 2: know some people won't like the ending, but I liked it.
- 20:58Speaker 3: I liked it. I was just like, I would.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Save that for Y'all'm gonna save y'all at least one
- 21:02Speaker 2: non spoiled thing.
- 21:03Speaker 3: But I did like how they ended it.
- 21:05Speaker 1: So what happened in the ending is this.
- 21:09Speaker 2: So I will give it three to three and a
- 21:16Speaker 2: half saxophones out of five, probably three and three saxophones out.
- 21:19Speaker 1: I would say, I'll say three and a half.
- 21:22Speaker 3: I really have three and a half because I liked
- 21:24Speaker 3: it a lot more than the last house.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Oh Man off the hills of the last house, he
- 21:28Speaker 1: had three and a half. Other fun It was solid.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I went by myself right off the road. I was
- 21:34Speaker 1: a little sleepy, so I just had to have some
- 21:35Speaker 1: popcorn and raisin nets health through the day. But I
- 21:38Speaker 1: enjoyed myself. I can suspend disbelief. Everything don't have to
- 21:41Speaker 1: be perfect for medium enjoy all. I love to see
- 21:44Speaker 1: dinosaurs eating people. I'm very easily pleased. There was some
- 21:47Speaker 1: funny eat dinosaur on a trampoline, dinosaur in your pool,
- 21:50Speaker 1: snakes eating people, neighbor being funny. That guy's always funny,
- 21:54Speaker 1: that actor always that character always, but he nailed every
- 22:00Speaker 1: time time.
- 22:01Speaker 3: If it ain't broken, fix it. Why is that snake cute? Man?
- 22:03Speaker 3: I don't know this snake.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Was cute to mouth. Yeah. I wanted to see my
- 22:07Speaker 1: neighbor get eating in real life. I'll be like, imagine
- 22:09Speaker 1: beef with your neighbor and then watching it your neighbor
- 22:11Speaker 1: get eaten by dinosaur birds. I'll be like, man, this
- 22:14Speaker 1: is great. I told you stop talking about my dog.
- 22:17Speaker 1: You talk about pulling a gun on my dog. Now
- 22:19Speaker 1: dinosaurs are murdering you. This is great.
- 22:22Speaker 2: I like how Anne Hathaway was just sick of it all. Yeah,
- 22:25Speaker 2: underneath she was just bubbling. She was tired of putting
- 22:27Speaker 2: on that persona for sure, she acted really well, did you.
- 22:31Speaker 1: McGregor was like, hey, man, they paid me, brother, I
- 22:35Speaker 1: ain't gonna give you much or nothing.
- 22:36Speaker 3: He was just like, I know you take this down. Man.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Your mother don't like the pieces delivery sign.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Man. He was like, hey, no, baby, eighteen million dollars brother.
- 22:46Speaker 1: I did my thing.
- 22:47Speaker 3: I did. I did. I did what you asked me
- 22:49Speaker 3: to do.
- 22:49Speaker 1: And had the way. Yeah, she turned into performance. She
- 22:53Speaker 1: was very good. And that's a good white woman, all right.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Moving on to movie TV news. Uh, the Drop, which
- 23:03Speaker 1: is a spin off of Snowfall, trailer was released if
- 23:08Speaker 1: you did not catch it. Essentially, Wanda and Leon split
- 23:15Speaker 1: off from Franklin and they go into the music business. Yeah,
- 23:20Speaker 1: and find out that it's very similar to the drug business.
- 23:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Tone, you send it to me, man, what are your thoughts?
- 23:25Speaker 2: So I watched that trailer and I was like, oh,
- 23:27Speaker 2: this is this looks great. It still has the gritty
- 23:30Speaker 2: visual style of Snowfall, and it's set. It's a time
- 23:35Speaker 2: period so you know what I'm saying, time period piece,
- 23:38Speaker 2: if you will.
- 23:39Speaker 3: And so, so now the pivot is we often drugs.
- 23:42Speaker 2: We're going to the rap game, and the rap game,
- 23:44Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, is similar to the crack game.
- 23:48Speaker 2: And so we're going and you still got the game coaching,
- 23:50Speaker 2: you still got to still got to get the pistols out.
- 23:52Speaker 2: You're getting pistols drawn on you. So all of that
- 23:55Speaker 2: is just closely related. So I'm just like, yo, I
- 23:57Speaker 2: love this pivot.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Me too.
- 23:59Speaker 2: And you think about all the these rappers back in
- 24:00Speaker 2: the day of whether they were the rappers themselves or
- 24:04Speaker 2: the people behind the rappers who had the seedy street background.
- 24:08Speaker 3: For sure, drug.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Dealers putting the money up for death row records and like,
- 24:12Speaker 2: you know, stuff like this.
- 24:13Speaker 1: I Needa Baker's first album funded by Free Gray Rick
- 24:15Speaker 1: Ross see with drug money. Jay Z funded his rap
- 24:20Speaker 1: career drug money, drugs and rap. Early on, we was
- 24:26Speaker 1: working together and also the Mob.
- 24:29Speaker 2: The Mob had the they tentacles and everything.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Man, the Mob created the entire city of Las Vegas,
- 24:37Speaker 1: funded the entertainment industry, part funded Hollywood movie.
- 24:40Speaker 3: It was in the boxing.
- 24:41Speaker 1: They was in the all of boxing, Tough Sports, Tough Fixed,
- 24:46Speaker 1: the nineteen twenty World Series.
- 24:49Speaker 3: The Mob money was deep. They was all up in there.
- 24:53Speaker 3: So I'm loving this approach to it. It's not just
- 24:56Speaker 3: a regular spind off like Leon's the drug man. Now
- 24:58Speaker 3: nah Man, we different different.
- 25:01Speaker 1: I thought that was so smart because I obviously the
- 25:04Speaker 1: drop is also a drug term. Music can drop, but
- 25:07Speaker 1: also drugs can be dropped. You drop the cash, you
- 25:09Speaker 1: drop like all that. So I assumed it was more
- 25:13Speaker 1: drugs and I was like, okay, I like Leon and
- 25:15Speaker 1: Galban and Isaiah John great actors. So I would have
- 25:19Speaker 1: signed up for anything, but finding out it's I guess
- 25:23Speaker 1: drug adjacent, and especially at that time because you remember
- 25:28Speaker 1: death row records, bad boy like there was legit violence.
- 25:31Speaker 3: For sure, easy ruthless records.
- 25:33Speaker 2: He was a drug dealer. That's how I had the money. Then,
- 25:35Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, that's true. Yeah, so it's like, sign.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Me up, we need drugs in gospel.
- 25:41Speaker 3: Oh that would.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Be a show.
- 25:45Speaker 2: I mean some of these pastes and former pimps, former drug.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Dealers, they make the best pastors. You know what I'm saying,
- 25:51Speaker 1: Former pimps, former drug dealers, womanizers. I need my pastor
- 25:56Speaker 1: to have gone through something. You just was like I
- 25:58Speaker 1: was born to God.
- 26:00Speaker 3: I love God too perfect for me. I can't relate.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I want you to sort the little weed and did
- 26:04Speaker 1: some time.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Yeah, but I only need you're doing it mid pastor, and.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Oh you don't want the little baby on the side.
- 26:11Speaker 2: I don't want you womanizing all the women in the congregation.
- 26:14Speaker 2: And it's just like so previous woman I'm talking about
- 26:17Speaker 2: your past could be your past, but you can't be
- 26:20Speaker 2: shady in mid Could.
- 26:22Speaker 1: You forgive a pastor who you know a little side
- 26:24Speaker 1: baby on the side, but then I'm sorry, God, Sorry, God,
- 26:28Speaker 1: he gonna keep doing it now, I ain't gonna do
- 26:30Speaker 1: any But he did have one legit side baby during
- 26:33Speaker 1: the pastoral ship. But then he was like, I'm sorry, y'all.
- 26:37Speaker 2: But then it just goes back into like you're hurting.
- 26:41Speaker 2: What your goal is is spread spread the word the gospel.
- 26:44Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. He spread the words so
- 26:45Speaker 1: much that he spread the seed.
- 26:47Speaker 3: But you know what I'm saying, You're gonna lose people
- 26:49Speaker 3: that way.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Yeah, but God forgives people.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Are gonna be like, yes, why I don't rock with religion, man,
- 26:53Speaker 2: because it's cast like this.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's gonna do more harm than good. So
- 26:58Speaker 1: you're out on the side baby, yeah.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Cause I'm just like, man, you preaching all this stuff. Man,
- 27:02Speaker 2: you shady him how you live your life? And I
- 27:04Speaker 2: don't want nothing. You got to say after that, if
- 27:07Speaker 2: you in the midst of it, if it was your past,
- 27:09Speaker 2: and that hey far in the.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Past, because you have been like how far your sins
- 27:14Speaker 1: got to be removed?
- 27:16Speaker 2: I mean it could be like a few years, just
- 27:18Speaker 2: a few years now, I was out.
- 27:21Speaker 3: There dealing in drugs, and then it was just this one.
- 27:23Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, Because you can have a
- 27:25Speaker 2: hell of an epiphany one day and turn your life around.
- 27:29Speaker 2: So I give grace for that, but I can't rock
- 27:32Speaker 2: with you if you're in the midst of you know,
- 27:35Speaker 2: congregations every Sunday talking about this and then you out
- 27:39Speaker 2: here smashing all the women in.
- 27:42Speaker 3: The congregation, bro smashing, smashing dudes wives. And you know
- 27:48Speaker 3: what I'm saying.
- 27:49Speaker 1: But what the woman threw it out of him? He
- 27:51Speaker 1: just fast.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Man.
- 27:52Speaker 1: You have to be you have integrity.
- 27:54Speaker 3: You got to be stronger than that. Man. Yeah, man,
- 27:58Speaker 3: because it was like, man, shut the hell up. Man,
- 28:00Speaker 3: this shut the hell up every Sunday. Yeah, man, that's
- 28:03Speaker 3: shut the hell up. Man.
- 28:06Speaker 2: I saw you down there at the strip club last
- 28:08Speaker 2: week getting your dick suck.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Now you want to be in here talking all this, man, we.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Might as well keep it living.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Now, let's keep it real, congregation.
- 28:19Speaker 2: The passer was in here getting this dick suck at
- 28:23Speaker 2: the con at the strip.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Club Friday night. Now he in here trying to tell
- 28:29Speaker 3: y'all what's going on in the Bible. Man, This is
- 28:32Speaker 3: y'all leader. Dick sucks on Fridays and Saturday nights. Now
- 28:38Speaker 3: he in here with his rollbo.
- 28:41Speaker 1: He ain't got no draws road.
- 28:44Speaker 3: He probably probably up there, he probably got a woman
- 28:46Speaker 3: underneath the podium.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Oh god, So could you go with a Could you
- 28:51Speaker 1: go to church with a with a single pastor? If
- 28:54Speaker 1: he's just living his life as a single man.
- 28:56Speaker 3: Yeah, that's fine. But once I find out you dirty,
- 29:00Speaker 3: then it's just like.
- 29:01Speaker 1: So, what's dirty? Womanizing or like? Because there's a lot
- 29:04Speaker 1: of single passes. I don't assume all single pastors are
- 29:06Speaker 1: out here.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Let's say you, let's say you're a pastor, but you
- 29:09Speaker 2: always say, listen, y'all, I'm a work in progress. I'm
- 29:12Speaker 2: a current mess. I'll be doing this, this and this now.
- 29:16Speaker 2: This is what I struggle with today. You cool with that, yeah,
- 29:20Speaker 2: because now I was all right? You keeping it real.
- 29:23Speaker 2: You're transparent, You going through your struggles as we all do,
- 29:26Speaker 2: and even in the midst of your struggle, you still
- 29:29Speaker 2: trying to find guidance in the word, and you're trying
- 29:32Speaker 2: to figure.
- 29:32Speaker 3: It out just as we are.
- 29:34Speaker 2: So now it's like we figured it out together, and
- 29:36Speaker 2: that makes me respect you even more.
- 29:38Speaker 3: But if you're out here fronting it's a fronting.
- 29:44Speaker 1: You can deal with a lot, but you can't deal.
- 29:46Speaker 3: With nah man, the hypocrisy about what you're doing.
- 29:49Speaker 2: And man, watch y'all condemning everybody the hell and you
- 29:52Speaker 2: was out there and getting your.
- 29:53Speaker 3: Dicks up at the strip club?
- 29:56Speaker 1: Do they do that at strip clubs?
- 29:58Speaker 3: They can?
- 29:59Speaker 1: I thought it was mostly I don't know. They can
- 30:01Speaker 1: say that you pay extra, but that's now sex work. Well,
- 30:05Speaker 1: I guess stripping is sex work, so they go.
- 30:07Speaker 2: A little extra, only I don't know if they're gonna
- 30:09Speaker 2: do it in the venue with some of them, like hey, extra,
- 30:13Speaker 2: will meet me here or something.
- 30:14Speaker 3: Like wow, yeah, wow, get that money?
- 30:17Speaker 1: Man, you live and learn, all right, So I'm excited
- 30:21Speaker 1: about that. I'm definitely gonna check that out. We also
- 30:24Speaker 1: wanted to talk about Different World. Yeah. Different World trailer
- 30:31Speaker 1: just dropped. I can't tell if it's a I can't
- 30:34Speaker 1: tell if it's like bel Air, Like it's not a
- 30:37Speaker 1: single camp. I mean, it's not a multi cam at all,
- 30:41Speaker 1: but I feel like it was leaning. I don't know,
- 30:44Speaker 1: I can't tell if it's like bel Air.
- 30:46Speaker 2: It feels like it feels like the original cast members
- 30:48Speaker 2: have kids going to that school.
- 30:50Speaker 3: For sure, or are they just using those actors.
- 30:53Speaker 1: No, no, no, I think it is there. I think it
- 30:55Speaker 1: was and d Wayne's no, I mean lair in the
- 31:00Speaker 1: sense of bel air was like a dramatic version of
- 31:03Speaker 1: The Fresh. It was funny, but it didn't seem like
- 31:08Speaker 1: the original Different World was a comedy straight up. I
- 31:11Speaker 1: feel like this one is maybe more of a drama. Ye,
- 31:15Speaker 1: it seems like there's some dramatic elements to it. It
- 31:18Speaker 1: seems more like the stylization makes it feel like such
- 31:22Speaker 1: a different show than a Different World the original, which
- 31:25Speaker 1: I think for me on a reboot, I think I
- 31:28Speaker 1: need you to do something that's very different.
- 31:30Speaker 2: You gotta do something different, you gotta worked exactly why
- 31:34Speaker 2: they want a different direction.
- 31:35Speaker 1: They won a different direction, gritty color grade, and I
- 31:39Speaker 1: always feel like I always felt like the original Different
- 31:41Speaker 1: World was kind of it kind of blurred the line
- 31:45Speaker 1: between dramatic and comedy a lot.
- 31:47Speaker 2: You know what, You're right, I feel like I feel
- 31:49Speaker 2: like I've never looked at a Different World as just
- 31:51Speaker 2: a straight up comedy.
- 31:53Speaker 1: You're absolutely right. They covered I Mean Fresh, Prince covered
- 31:56Speaker 1: all the nineties.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Shows, special episodes, but it was always like, but I
- 32:00Speaker 2: felt like a different world was consistently like they had
- 32:03Speaker 2: a lot of dramatic beats and they're like just straight
- 32:05Speaker 2: serious beats in there.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Yeah, they called the lot that with colorism and stuff. Also,
- 32:10Speaker 1: uh to Sheena Arnold's daughter is in there. Really, I'm
- 32:13Speaker 1: excited to see her. I think her name is a
- 32:15Speaker 1: Lasaki or something like that. She's super funny on Instagram,
- 32:19Speaker 1: just like to Sheena Arnold, very funny. She can sing
- 32:22Speaker 1: all I remember.
- 32:23Speaker 3: I remember seeing them together one time.
- 32:26Speaker 1: She got her honest, she got her honest, and I
- 32:31Speaker 1: saw she was cast and I was like, all right,
- 32:33Speaker 1: a lot of She's actually the only actress that I
- 32:35Speaker 1: recognized that wasn't from I see Met the Man in the.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Track Met the Man. I saw Darryl Bell who played Uh.
- 32:45Speaker 2: It was Dwayne Wayne's.
- 32:46Speaker 3: Best friend Ron Ron Ron. I saw Jazzmine guy.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Yeah, Chris Summer was in there. Jada Pinkett was in
- 32:53Speaker 1: there in one scene Pinks. Yeah, Jada pink was And
- 32:57Speaker 1: I couldn't make out who the dude next to her was.
- 32:59Speaker 1: She was talking on the thing with some man but
- 33:03Speaker 1: that I kept rewinding, but I couldn't catch who it was.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Kadem Hardison, uh was with Jasmine guy. So I don't
- 33:10Speaker 1: know how much like it could be very like a
- 33:15Speaker 1: very simply the drop off day is where you see
- 33:18Speaker 1: the parents and stuff like, I could see a world
- 33:20Speaker 1: where they're in the pilot, but they're not in the show. Show.
- 33:23Speaker 1: But as far as I know, you don't like reboots.
- 33:26Speaker 2: I'm not a fan of reboots, but sometimes I'll get
- 33:29Speaker 2: credit what credit is due if a reboot is done correctly.
- 33:33Speaker 1: But that's what we need to do. Top ten reboots
- 33:35Speaker 1: that you actually liked.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Yeah, re reboot or remakes.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Reboot or remake, be cause sometimes I like a reboot.
- 33:43Speaker 1: For me, I realized a lot of reboots. I like,
- 33:46Speaker 1: I had no idea the first movie existed, Like I
- 33:48Speaker 1: did not know Ocean's eleven was a reboot.
- 33:51Speaker 2: That's a that's an example of a good one when
- 33:53Speaker 2: enough time is passed. Yeah, it's a different you know
- 33:56Speaker 2: what I'm saying, Like the Thing is a is a remake, So.
- 33:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I just found that out right now. And what time?
- 34:02Speaker 1: When was the original one? Sixty something sixty seven?
- 34:04Speaker 3: Yeah, it was like in the black and white days
- 34:06Speaker 3: fifty sixties.
- 34:07Speaker 1: When did you talking about the thing? The swim Russell
- 34:10Speaker 1: no rebook what was in that.
- 34:14Speaker 3: Kurt Russell is in the remake.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Oh, he's in the remake.
- 34:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Oh wait, the one I'm thinking of is the remake.
- 34:19Speaker 3: Well, there was another on a remake. Yeah, that's a
- 34:23Speaker 3: remake eighty two.
- 34:24Speaker 2: Then they then they did a prequel to that in
- 34:26Speaker 2: the two thousands.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Oh snap. Oh. The original thing was called A Thing
- 34:32Speaker 1: for Another World came out in nineteen fifty one. Oh
- 34:37Speaker 1: that's thirty years. That's a generation. Yeah.
- 34:39Speaker 2: So so even the Blob. The Blob had a good remake. Yeah,
- 34:43Speaker 2: and sometimes sometimes they do happen. Night of the Living
- 34:47Speaker 2: Dad had a good remake too. Tony Todd was in
- 34:50Speaker 2: the remake that man.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Yeah, some Peace Friday Kidd was a good remake with
- 34:55Speaker 1: Jackie Channing Jaden.
- 34:56Speaker 3: That was a good remake.
- 34:57Speaker 1: That was a great mate. But they switched they switched
- 34:59Speaker 1: the character. Actually they switched the race and they switched
- 35:02Speaker 1: the location.
- 35:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Usually just one is good, but that one was. And
- 35:07Speaker 1: they did another remake of that. But I didn't catch
- 35:09Speaker 1: that one that. I did a brand deal for that one,
- 35:11Speaker 1: but I actually didn't.
- 35:12Speaker 3: Watch the Yeah, that movie just kind of came and win.
- 35:14Speaker 3: I'm surprised.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Wait, West World was a remake. West World was a
- 35:18Speaker 1: movie back in the day with you Brenner. Really yeah,
- 35:23Speaker 1: I love West World. Had no idea was a remake
- 35:26Speaker 1: a movie? You know, the entire time I was a
- 35:27Speaker 1: remake either.
- 35:28Speaker 3: Yeah, Italian job too.
- 35:30Speaker 1: See that's what I'm saying. I think a big portion
- 35:32Speaker 1: of it time because if Isaiah watched, I feel like
- 35:35Speaker 1: Different World is for Isaiah and Josiah or maybe a
- 35:39Speaker 1: little younger you know you I was watching Different World,
- 35:42Speaker 1: I might have been in middle school. Was the Different
- 35:46Speaker 1: World now originally eight? Yeah, threeteen eighties?
- 35:53Speaker 3: I was four, Yeah it was.
- 35:55Speaker 2: It was the eighties, man, I would I wasn't even
- 35:58Speaker 2: in high school when that show Guest started.
- 36:00Speaker 1: When did the Cosby Show start?
- 36:02Speaker 3: Eighty four? Eighty three?
- 36:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't realize the Cosmme Show in Different World
- 36:09Speaker 1: were so close. It was only three years into the
- 36:10Speaker 1: college show. He got to spin off because Lisa left quick. Yeah,
- 36:14Speaker 1: she was so fine of me. Tone Oh my god.
- 36:16Speaker 3: You know what's funny about Lisa Bonet?
- 36:18Speaker 2: Like in eighty four, when when the Cosmme Show first
- 36:22Speaker 2: came on, I remember just watching the show blankly, like
- 36:26Speaker 2: loving the show, but I wasn't crushing on anybody, and
- 36:31Speaker 2: I was just like, yeah, it's a great show. And
- 36:33Speaker 2: then then when I when I look back now, and
- 36:38Speaker 2: I was just like, Lisa Bonet was gorgeous.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Man, oh my god.
- 36:44Speaker 2: Like because I realized I realized it did. But I
- 36:47Speaker 2: was just like, yeah, you know, that's Denise. But I
- 36:50Speaker 2: wasn't like Denise many. I was just like, god, damn,
- 36:56Speaker 2: she was looking like.
- 36:57Speaker 3: That the whole time. Man.
- 36:59Speaker 1: She was like, there was nobody in the pastor like
- 37:03Speaker 1: Lisa or Man. You're like, man, we don't got that
- 37:05Speaker 1: kind of person at school or church. Yeah, she looked like.
- 37:09Speaker 1: I was like, oh, she was like when I first
- 37:11Speaker 1: saw Eric about dude when I was in the middle school.
- 37:13Speaker 1: I was just like, I want to you can be
- 37:16Speaker 1: like this, what's happened to you?
- 37:17Speaker 3: I don't think I see some Texas she was yeah,
- 37:20Speaker 3: And I was.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Just like, okay, man, yeah, I like that. I like
- 37:25Speaker 1: I like her.
- 37:28Speaker 3: I don't know how I made it through looking at Lisa.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Bone as a kid, unscathed on the straight up, just
- 37:34Speaker 2: because I had seen her in Angel Heart as well.
- 37:36Speaker 1: I don't even know what that is.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Angel Hart is a movie that Bill Cosby did not
- 37:40Speaker 2: want her to partake in.
- 37:42Speaker 3: Really and she she did this with Mickey.
- 37:44Speaker 2: Roy, Robert de Niro's in it. She she got naked
- 37:47Speaker 2: in there too.
- 37:48Speaker 1: I was just about to say they have something to
- 37:49Speaker 1: do sexuals. That why he didn't want her out. And
- 37:52Speaker 1: Nikka was on that stuff and then was doing crime McGee.
- 37:55Speaker 1: He's basically what you was talking about with the pastor.
- 37:57Speaker 3: She was like, I'm doing it.
- 37:58Speaker 1: He's like, I'm pull your pants up while I drugged
- 38:01Speaker 1: this woman.
- 38:02Speaker 3: And I'm talking about That's what I'm saying a lot
- 38:05Speaker 3: of nerve.
- 38:06Speaker 1: Don'g Andeddy Murphy, Man, stop cussing so much because I'm
- 38:09Speaker 1: an assault I'm gonna bring up your contradiction. Man. Nineteen
- 38:13Speaker 1: ninety seven. I first saw Erica Abaddu I was fourteen
- 38:15Speaker 1: years old. I was like, man, on and on. Indeed,
- 38:19Speaker 1: when she opened that door on that man, I was like, man,
- 38:23Speaker 1: black women, I was so glad with it. It's so
- 38:26Speaker 1: funny my history. Man. I thought Sidney Crawford was God's gift.
- 38:30Speaker 1: But once I saw Halle Berry see and.
- 38:32Speaker 3: Now Wiley Barry, I can't do it. Tlly Halle. It's
- 38:37Speaker 3: like saying, Halle Barry, Hally Barry.
- 38:40Speaker 1: If you right now say that, Hey, my name is
- 38:42Speaker 1: actually pronounced Tanny. I'd be like, man, it's to I
- 38:46Speaker 1: can't as I say, Halle still sounds weird to me,
- 38:50Speaker 1: Halle halle Berry. But anyway, when I saw Halle Berry,
- 38:54Speaker 1: I was like, all right, Sidney Crawford, get the hell
- 38:56Speaker 1: on and don't you come back? And then Eric Abaud dude,
- 38:59Speaker 1: even Miss Ellie. When I first saw Missy Ellen, I
- 39:01Speaker 1: was like, man, she is beautiful and she was also talented.
- 39:06Speaker 1: I just thought that that super duper fly music video
- 39:09Speaker 1: was so dope to me. I was just like, I
- 39:10Speaker 1: love everything about her video was fire man Tom we
- 39:14Speaker 1: got to see. I'd be grateful for our age, oh
- 39:18Speaker 1: for sure, cause like hip hop and R and B
- 39:20Speaker 1: ninety six, ninety seven ninety eight, we were seeing the
- 39:24Speaker 1: best stuff ever. Yeah, debut. We watched the debut. I remember, like,
- 39:31Speaker 1: missy Ellie, it's new music, because I had heard of
- 39:33Speaker 1: her with Tim and Magoo, But the debut.
- 39:37Speaker 2: I'm always grateful that I am my age. A lot
- 39:40Speaker 2: of people be like, man, you old, you old, But
- 39:42Speaker 2: little do y'all know what I've lived through and seen
- 39:45Speaker 2: in real time.
- 39:46Speaker 1: It's great.
- 39:47Speaker 3: I've lived through.
- 39:48Speaker 2: The eras of Eric being Rock, Kim coming down, and
- 39:51Speaker 2: Snoop and Dre and Nwua and Public Enemy. I've seen
- 39:56Speaker 2: all of this in real time, Tupac's rise and fall, Biggie,
- 40:00Speaker 2: And so when people argue with me, I'll just be like,
- 40:02Speaker 2: how old are you?
- 40:03Speaker 1: We seen the Dangerous Music Video premiere premire.
- 40:06Speaker 3: I seen the Thriller premiere.
- 40:08Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 40:09Speaker 2: I've seen the Thriller premiere. I remember when Thriller got released.
- 40:15Speaker 1: You watched that.
- 40:16Speaker 3: A lot of y'all be letting YouTube videos. Nah, man,
- 40:19Speaker 3: I was there.
- 40:21Speaker 1: What year was that?
- 40:22Speaker 3: Eighty eighty two?
- 40:23Speaker 1: Eighty two was fine?
- 40:24Speaker 2: I was young, and Thriller premiere in eighty three. The
- 40:27Speaker 2: video video came out later. But man, you know what
- 40:31Speaker 2: I'm saying. I remember this Friday Night videos, the Thriller premiere,
- 40:34Speaker 2: and I was trying to watch and I got scared
- 40:36Speaker 2: halfway through and I covered covered up the rest of
- 40:39Speaker 2: the video.
- 40:40Speaker 1: What's the moment when you tapped out?
- 40:42Speaker 2: When when she she uh, when she the zombies were
- 40:47Speaker 2: coming out, she was looking around. Then she turned around
- 40:49Speaker 2: and Michael was one of them. So before the dance, Yeah,
- 40:54Speaker 2: it was just like cause when when the zombies were
- 40:57Speaker 2: coming out, I was like these they was coming out
- 41:00Speaker 2: of stuff coming out their mouth. I was just like,
- 41:05Speaker 2: and we was all in my mom's room in her bed.
- 41:08Speaker 2: It was me and my two brothers and my mom,
- 41:10Speaker 2: and I was just.
- 41:10Speaker 3: In the middle. I remember being in the middle. Specifically,
- 41:13Speaker 3: I need to be tucked in.
- 41:16Speaker 2: I need to be in the nestled in the middle
- 41:19Speaker 2: of my family. And I was just like I had
- 41:21Speaker 2: to cover just so when they was watching they was
- 41:24Speaker 2: watching the movie at the movie there, I was like,
- 41:26Speaker 2: all right, it's just a.
- 41:27Speaker 3: Movie within the movie. All right, it's just a movie
- 41:30Speaker 3: within the movie.
- 41:31Speaker 1: That's it.
- 41:32Speaker 3: It's just it's just you're tripping. Yeah, she tripping. I'm
- 41:36Speaker 3: tripping too. And then then when.
- 41:39Speaker 2: He started walking in, he started walking in, he started singing,
- 41:41Speaker 2: and they walking She like yeah, I'm like okay. The
- 41:45Speaker 2: cover started sliding down, and then they skip off.
- 41:50Speaker 3: Because he cut the song off. Then they skip off.
- 41:54Speaker 2: And then once they skipped off into the area where
- 41:56Speaker 2: the zombies started coming out, and I was just.
- 41:58Speaker 3: Like, come on, man, while they looking like this right back, y'all.
- 42:05Speaker 3: And then she was like she's looking around paying over
- 42:08Speaker 3: the m J he was.
- 42:13Speaker 2: I just listened to the rest of it. I just
- 42:16Speaker 2: listened to the right chap. I was covered up, dog.
- 42:21Speaker 1: I was.
- 42:22Speaker 3: I was sitting there looking like Charlie Brown. And then
- 42:26Speaker 3: we had that ghost costume that.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Was just sitting I was like, all right, Michael got
- 42:32Speaker 1: the face.
- 42:34Speaker 2: If he was the walk in my family's room, you
- 42:37Speaker 2: would seeing my family sitting there white.
- 42:39Speaker 3: Then's just a little heel of sheet just sitting there,
- 42:44Speaker 3: like I heard it. I heard it first time.
- 42:53Speaker 2: I was like, man, and then I watched it shortly thereafter.
- 42:56Speaker 2: But it was just that that premiere night, and it
- 42:59Speaker 2: was late on Friday night.
- 43:01Speaker 1: It was dark outside already, and.
- 43:05Speaker 2: This Michael's alive and we was in the haunted apartment
- 43:08Speaker 2: at that time. Watch out, but I'm grateful to be
- 43:13Speaker 2: alive during that whole era, like Thriller.
- 43:16Speaker 1: In real time, I remember me and my cousins watched
- 43:18Speaker 1: a scream music video. Yeah, in real time. We were like,
- 43:21Speaker 1: this is the best music video I've ever seen in
- 43:23Speaker 1: my life. It was like and then Jenny Jackson did
- 43:27Speaker 1: this and I was like, Wow, she's showing the stomach
- 43:30Speaker 1: and bro bro, which at that time in life was like.
- 43:35Speaker 3: This is edgy.
- 43:36Speaker 1: I'm seeing that. She knows I saw that because I
