- 0:05Speaker 1: We believe in the power of love and transformation through storytelling.
- 0:08Speaker 1: What's up, this is Big.
- 0:16Speaker 1: No, I'm just playing Big talk.
- 0:19Speaker 1: This is Story Scaling with PodcastVideoscom.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I'm Jeremiah Austin.
- 0:22Speaker 1: On this bang To my left, I have my boy, eric Howerton.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Eric Howerton, mr Howerton, where are we at today?
- 0:30Speaker 2: We are at the Mercy Catfish, corn Dogs and Cornhole event in Rogers, arkansas.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Started by.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I mean None other than Well, I don't want to say it you know, but Is that kind of you to say no it?
- 0:42Speaker 2: Other than well.
- 0:43Speaker 2: I don't want to say it you know.
- 0:44Speaker 2: No, it's okay to say you know, back in the day, I don't know, it's probably about 10 years ago, I think.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Yeah, uh, my old company white spider, we started this tournament.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Yeah and uh, what we would do is just put on a cornhole tournament, raise money for charities around the area.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Yeah and uh, we did it for a few charities consecutive years.
- 1:01Speaker 2: And then, uh, we one of the years, the last year that we were doing it, uh, we did it for mercy health foundation, you know, here in rogers, uh, helping out with the hospital needs and the kids and stuff like that, and uh, they were such big fans of it that they actually uh I mean they blew it up?
- 1:20Speaker 2: yeah, they just doubled, like the number of uh players that were out here, raised a lot of money, you know, and so about a year or so later, after that, we, we gave it to them, just gave them the entire tournament the branding everything.
- 1:31Speaker 2: So ever since then they've been, they've been rocking.
- 1:33Speaker 2: You can see in the background.
- 1:34Speaker 2: I mean they've got like 130 cornhole teams today, so that's like 260 people playing cornhole is this one of the bigger cornerhole tournaments?
- 1:43Speaker 1: I think so.
- 1:44Speaker 2: In the nation.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think it is.
- 1:46Speaker 2: I mean.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I've never seen nothing like this.
- 1:47Speaker 2: No, it's huge, it's just lined up with cornhole boards.
- 1:50Speaker 2: I've never seen nothing like this.
- 1:51Speaker 2: You probably should get some B-roll of that a little later.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I got it Because you got it.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I'm on top of it.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I it's been running.
- 2:00Speaker 2: It's been about 10 okay yeah, I've been around about 10 years now and I mean it just gets better and better.
- 2:05Speaker 1: So we get the privilege of coming out here with our setup capturing some of this.
- 2:09Speaker 1: What would you say from a organizer standpoint?
- 2:13Speaker 1: You've been on the side of putting this event together, but also now in the in the other seat and shout out to podcast videos, for you know, being a sponsor, yeah heck, yeah, hey sam, throw us one bags over here, yeah.
- 2:24Speaker 2: So what we did this year is we actually all the cornhole bags that are out there for the players.
- 2:30Speaker 2: We got their podcast videos, fire logo on the back of it, so it's the best sponsorship I think that we could have at the tournament.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:39Speaker 2: So we came up with that this year.
- 2:40Speaker 2: That's pretty nice so what's?
- 2:41Speaker 1: what do you think the benefit is is of having something like this, where you can sit down and kind of recap stories, or you know what I mean.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Like yeah, well, I mean, you know.
- 2:51Speaker 2: So these events go on all the time, from companies, I mean, you know, from, I mean, even if it was just like a staff event, yeah you know.
- 2:58Speaker 2: But to bigger events like this where the public's involved, they got sponsors and stuff.
- 3:01Speaker 2: I mean, there's just so much activity and content that's going on.
- 3:04Speaker 2: You know, and I mean part of the reason why we're even doing podcast videos is it's about capturing, recording that content, so that that way you can repurpose it later.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Because if, because, if you don't do that, you just basically all that energy from the day is just kind of dripped it off to nowhere, never to be heard from again.
- 3:23Speaker 2: But this, you know capture interviews, testimonials from people at the event about how much fun they had.
- 3:29Speaker 2: You know, get a little bit of B-roll, you can throw it in there Talking to a lot of the organizers, the sponsors.
- 3:36Speaker 2: You know, talking to a lot of the organizers, the sponsors.
- 3:41Speaker 2: So if you're putting on an event like this, you have to raise sponsorship dollars, but if you can interview them, that gives them additional value to their sponsorship versus just being here for one time at the event.
- 3:49Speaker 2: And then, of course, after the event, we can put together all these podcasts, these conversations, and then we can continue to market and keep that engagement going.
- 3:57Speaker 2: And one of my favorite things about it is for next year podcasts, these conversations, and then it can continue to market and keep that engagement going.
- 4:01Speaker 2: And one of my favorite things about it is is like for next year, you have all this content, these conversations.
- 4:06Speaker 2: You can do splice ups, other new clips and share that before the event to kind of get people interested in what's happening.
- 4:11Speaker 1: It's almost twofold right.
- 4:12Speaker 1: It's an archive that allows you to go back and relive maybe some of your most favorite moments, but also for people who are unsure of what the core tournament looks like.
- 4:23Speaker 1: You also have footage.
- 4:24Speaker 1: You have documented moments that people can look back on and be like oh shoot, I want to be a part of this, I want to get, I want to participate, I want a team in it.
- 4:33Speaker 2: You know what I mean well, I mean, you know like the reality is is because of technology and the ability to watch video, and you know 24, 7, right and anywhere, how you know, uh, about everybody's visual creatures.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Now, right, we'd rather watch a video about an event that's coming up to decide if we want to participate, sponsor, register, join, you know, um, and so you know a little, five, five seconds, 15 second social clips.
- 4:57Speaker 2: It's gonna be just enough to engage my attention.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Then I go into a landing page, watch a more complete conversation about what the tournament is, and that will help me make my decision a lot faster.
- 5:07Speaker 2: You know one other thing too, when I think about like events, podcasting is, you know, not this event specifically, but a lot of times the events we go to are like galas and things like that, where everybody's dressed in the nines right yeah.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Well, I mean, what's a better way to kind of get a professional testimony from people that are coming?
- 5:26Speaker 2: I mean you spend all this time as an event organizer to get people out to the event I mean action and then you have your focus group, All the people that are the biggest fans of your organization and what you're doing, sitting right there and if you don't find a way to capture those testimonials, you'll never have the testimonials it's about.
- 5:45Speaker 2: You know a hundred times harder if I was just to reach out as a company organization and reach out hey Ben, can you come in and do a testimonial video for me?
- 5:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that coordination, I mean it just takes, takes, you know, 10 hours to do what are the odds that this group of people will ever be in the same exact spot again?
- 6:02Speaker 2: uh, one year from now yeah, you know the same thing.
- 6:05Speaker 2: I mean, maybe some of them won't be here right.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Well, that's kind of what I'm speaking to like this same subset of people like who knows if it'll be you know?
- 6:13Speaker 2: so you almost only got I don't want to say one shot, but no, you kind of essentially yeah, I mean, if you think about our lives, right, if we don't record in the video everything we do, it's gone forever it's just a memory yeah, you know, but if we had a full-time reality show on us, we would have plenty of content to be pushing back out yeah, you know.
- 6:31Speaker 2: So I mean it's kind of the same same scenario and I mean it's really an easy thing.
- 6:34Speaker 2: You know it doesn't really cost that much to get us out here at an event.
- 6:37Speaker 2: You know we'll set up a table, you know, have a nice background, everything.
- 6:42Speaker 2: But we always like to shoot with the event behind us, you know that way.
- 6:45Speaker 2: You know, right now, as we're talking, you can kind of see activity going on behind us and see what the event's about.
- 6:50Speaker 2: You can see that people are actually here.
- 7:01Speaker 1: And then we are able to capture the audio and the video here.
- 7:01Speaker 1: I seen on your social media yesterday there's no mountain too high or valley too low that we won't go to capture your special moment, yeah.
- 7:04Speaker 2: That was.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Can you confirm that?
- 7:08Speaker 2: now we are willing to go to the extremes, to we really are, man.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I mean it's like you know we've set up as much you know packages and you know product offerings that we can, you know.
- 7:19Speaker 2: But I mean a lot of times clients will have just new ideas.
- 7:21Speaker 2: It's like, oh heck, yeah, man, because what we're doing is we're basically audio video.
- 7:26Speaker 2: You know production specialists and we try to reduce that friction.
- 7:30Speaker 2: So if there was, you know we had ideas about people you know doing wedding guest books, digital guest books for them.
- 7:38Speaker 2: You know kind of stretches on out to different things, and we're all ears, man.
- 7:49Speaker 1: You know, just trying to make this thing less friction for you to get content.
- 7:51Speaker 1: It's all about content.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Yeah, in archiving it.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Two more questions.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Is you spoke to this a second ago in 2024 marketing media.
- 7:57Speaker 1: However you want to, you know, categorize it.
- 8:00Speaker 1: How essential is video.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Oh, it's everything, yeah, I mean it's everything.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Like there's not a greater asset on the planet to communicate broadly, yeah, than video.
- 8:11Speaker 2: I mean, you can see it, you can hear it.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, it's.
- 8:15Speaker 2: It's, it's passive type energy, I don't have to put much forth too much effort.
- 8:20Speaker 2: The technology channels that are able to stream video and people having phones it all makes a lot of sense.
- 8:26Speaker 2: It's pretty obvious.
- 8:27Speaker 2: But the problem is is that, just as a consumer of that, we consume all this content but we don't think about how to actually create it, you know, but once you start thinking about how to create it, then you, you make it harder, you make it logistically more difficult, and it's really about frequency, repetition, you know.
- 8:43Speaker 2: You know quantity of getting out there, and so I mean it's the future of all forms of content, really, and the plus, not to mention, it's global, you know.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Yeah, so the world's kind of changing on us and that's what we're doing is like the hardest thing on all this is really the production side of it, because up and you know, still today, you know it requires too many hours on pre-planning and production and post-production and trying to get that out.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Then you've got distribution and marketing and you mentioned archiving.
- 9:17Speaker 2: It's a big deal, but how do you archive and organize that and then start repurposing the content that you've had before?
- 9:24Speaker 2: Putting it all together, if I had 100 videos I did this year, it still gives me about another 100 for next year with the same kind of content.
- 9:31Speaker 2: That's the hard part, right, but that's what we're here to help.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 9:36Speaker 1: People who say what is PodcastVideoscom?
- 9:40Speaker 1: We're still relatively new.
- 9:41Speaker 1: I feel like every day somebody else is creeping out about who we are, slash, what we do.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Is it a media company?
- 9:48Speaker 1: I don't do podcasting.
- 9:50Speaker 1: What's the benefit there for me?
- 9:51Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 9:53Speaker 1: What would you say to that person who has absolutely no idea?
- 9:56Speaker 1: You've got an elevator pitch.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Who are Podcastvideoscom?
- 10:00Speaker 1: Come on, baby, you've got to be ready.
- 10:05Speaker 2: It's about story scaling.
- 10:05Speaker 2: It's in our slogan.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Our job is to scale stories and we do that to reduce the friction in audio and video production.
- 10:13Speaker 2: It doesn't have to be a podcast.
- 10:15Speaker 2: I think a podcast is just one of the bigger global things that we have going on, the bigger mark on how do we reduce that friction for them to be able to create their own show and get it out.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Videos is in our name.
- 10:30Speaker 2: When you get into the video side, it could be a social influencer video to a family legacy video, to an event video.
- 10:38Speaker 2: It just keeps going on and on.
- 10:40Speaker 2: B-roll, b-roll.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Bro.
- 10:46Speaker 2: What?
- 10:50Speaker 1: You can finish it.
- 10:52Speaker 2: No, I mean, I just think that you know, if we don't, if businesses specifically don't, figure out how to quickly scale and the efficiency of video production, they're going to be hurting.
- 11:11Speaker 2: They're already hurting, they're going to be hurting even more and more.
- 11:13Speaker 2: I mean, it's the same thing that's been going on.
- 11:16Speaker 2: When you see like back when you know Facebook started and businesses were really slow to adapt to that, you know you get behind on these things and it just becomes more and more challenging to kind of get built up, yeah, but if you can get out in front of it and be the fastest, yeah.
- 11:30Speaker 2: You know it's about speed.
- 11:32Speaker 2: In this, uh, digital marketing world, whoever's first really does kind of win, and we're here to help people win us I'm bang, I'm eric.
- 11:44Speaker 1: This is podcast videos.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I call.
