Latest / The Next Round / The Next Round: NFL MVP Picks, College Football Upset Alerts & Is LSU the New No. 1? | Hour 2
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Back to college football in our next segment. We're going
- 0:04Speaker 1: to talk a little NFL here since the season starts
- 0:06Speaker 1: tomorrow night. But the AP poll comes out in an hour. Brooke,
- 0:09Speaker 1: will you check that for me, Brooks, at some point?
- 0:12Speaker 1: Not for the on-air here. Just let me know next
- 0:14Speaker 1: commercial break. But I think it's 11 Central, 12 Eastern.
- 0:17Speaker 1: We go with the new AP poll today, the first
- 0:20Speaker 1: in-season one. We'll look for the major reaction on LSU.
- 0:24Speaker 1: That'll be the big storyline. We'll get to that.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Scott sent out the video of me yesterday saying, I
- 0:29Speaker 2: think LSU should.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Be number one.
- 0:31Speaker 2: And some guy I don't know, don't follow, responded to
- 0:33Speaker 2: me last night during the game. And I was on
- 0:35Speaker 2: social media. He's like, I cannot believe you would jump
- 0:39Speaker 2: all those teams to have LSU number one. He goes,
- 0:41Speaker 2: what did those teams do to lose their spot? And
- 0:43Speaker 2: I was like, I mean, I don't look at it
- 0:45Speaker 2: that way. And he goes, I mean, I could see
- 0:46Speaker 2: you having them two or three, but not number one.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I'm like, so you're.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Okay with me jumping all the teams up to number two?
- 0:52Speaker 2: You can jump seven, but not eight. But my God,
- 0:54Speaker 2: do not jump on Ohio State, whatever you do.
- 0:56Speaker 1: New England and Seattle starts the NFL season tomorrow night.
- 0:59Speaker 1: San Francisco, the Niners and the Rams in Australia. I
- 1:04Speaker 1: can't believe, I would hate to have a division game
- 1:07Speaker 1: week one. You know what I'm saying? Those games are
- 1:10Speaker 1: so important. I'd hate to have those week ones. And
- 1:14Speaker 1: you'd really hate to have one in Australia. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Who lost the home game for that, San Francisco or
- 1:18Speaker 1: you guys? The Rams. The Rams, yeah. That's what sucks
- 1:21Speaker 1: even more.
- 1:21Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:21Speaker 4: But, you know, I mean, outside of, well, I guess
- 1:24Speaker 4: the NFL will take care of it monetarily. But I'm
- 1:26Speaker 4: just saying the Rams, it has become a joke when
- 1:29Speaker 4: San Francisco plays them so far.
- 1:30Speaker 1: That's true. And how their fans take over so far. Yeah,
- 1:33Speaker 1: it's probably better for you all. Just looking at some
- 1:35Speaker 1: division games before we get into the talk here, and
- 1:37Speaker 1: I'll tell you about our friends at Hard Rock Bets.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Niners and Rams, that's a division game. You get Packers
- 1:45Speaker 1: and Vikings. Packers, Vikings. You get Commanders and Eagles. You
- 1:49Speaker 1: get Cowboys, Giants. And Monday night, you get Broncos and Chiefs.
- 1:54Speaker 1: So just a quick overglance of some pretty big. I mean, Broncos, Chiefs,
- 1:59Speaker 1: and Niners, Rams. Those are division-changing games.
- 2:04Speaker 2: If you've got to do it, would you rather get
- 2:07Speaker 2: the road game out of the way or play it
- 2:08Speaker 2: at home? If you've got to do it in week one,
- 2:11Speaker 2: would you rather say, let me just go and get
- 2:12Speaker 2: the road game.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Out of the way? Probably. I think I'd rather have
- 2:16Speaker 1: the home game later in the year when it might
- 2:18Speaker 1: be even more impactful. Hey, and by the way, Bills
- 2:20Speaker 1: at Texans could have major home field advantage implications down
- 2:25Speaker 1: the road.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Yeah, best early window game on Sunday is Bills-Texans. That's
- 2:29Speaker 2: a fantastic game for week one.
- 2:30Speaker 1: So some really interesting week one games. And then there's
- 2:34Speaker 1: the Dolphins and Raiders.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Dunaway was like, Brent, I think y'all got to– this
- 2:38Speaker 2: may be your best shot of the season. I was like, Dunaway,
- 2:40Speaker 2: we're three-and-a-half-point underdogs. And he's right. It's probably our best
- 2:43Speaker 2: shot of the season.
- 2:44Speaker 4: You know, the survivor pools have gotten so big, especially
- 2:47Speaker 4: in Las Vegas, with the millions and millions of dollars
- 2:49Speaker 4: you can win on these payouts. I mean, they're really
- 2:52Speaker 4: big with our friends at Hard Rock Bet, I'm about
- 2:53Speaker 4: to tell you about. Yeah, you guys have done it before, though,
- 2:55Speaker 4: but you can only use one team once. And so
- 2:57Speaker 4: when you start to break down teams like– Not that
- 3:00Speaker 4: you would go that direction. I would assume everybody is
- 3:02Speaker 4: going to have the Chargers.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Over the Cardinals. Chargers are your play week one. I've
- 3:07Speaker 2: found in the survivor pools, you try to outthink it. Oh,
- 3:10Speaker 2: this is the only time I can pick this team.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Go obvious. I don't know how you play it, but
- 3:14Speaker 2: I think you go obvious.
- 3:15Speaker 1: I win obvious, and obvious doesn't win all the time.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I say you don't go obvious, and I've told you already.
- 3:22Speaker 1: My play would be Bengals over the Bucs, Tampa Bay
- 3:25Speaker 1: in Cincinnati to start the season. The Bengals are four-point
- 3:28Speaker 1: favorite at Hard Rock. And the Bengals are healthy. This
- 3:31Speaker 1: is when they're healthy. By the time you get to
- 3:32Speaker 1: week three or four, you don't know who you got,
- 3:34Speaker 1: what you got. Bengals healthy to start the season. Pretty
- 3:37Speaker 1: good team when they're healthy. That's where I would go,
- 3:39Speaker 1: but do it however you want to. Our friends at
- 3:41Speaker 1: Hard Rock bet they've got the survivor pool for you.
- 3:46Speaker 1: If you are in the state of Florida, make sure
- 3:47Speaker 1: you're taking advantage of the NFL Survivor Contest. Pick one
- 3:50Speaker 1: team to win each week. Last standing survivors share the
- 3:54Speaker 1: $ 2 million prize. Best place to get more information and
- 3:57Speaker 1: to sign up is right there at hardrock.bet backslash clay.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Hardrock.bet backslash clay. Hardrock Bet is available in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan,
- 4:10Speaker 1: New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia. So go check them
- 4:13Speaker 1: out right now, hardrock.bet backslash clay. All right, MVP in
- 4:19Speaker 1: the NFL before we get back to college football. Last
- 4:22Speaker 1: year it was who? Matthew Stafford. All right. The year
- 4:26Speaker 1: before that, was it Josh Allen? The year before that
- 4:29Speaker 1: was Josh Allen. Okay. How deep can you go? Yeah.
- 4:32Speaker 1: How many years back? Yeah. At some point. Lamar Jackson
- 4:36Speaker 1: before that. Who was the last non-quarterback? The last non-quarterback, 2012,
- 4:39Speaker 1: Adrian Peterson. We've got to go all the way to
- 4:42Speaker 1: 2012 for last 19. 18 of the last 19 have
- 4:44Speaker 1: been quarterbacks. Okay. Give me some odds, and then I
- 4:48Speaker 1: want us to pick our MVP. Your favorite currently is
- 4:54Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson. Really? I say that. It should be... No,
- 4:58Speaker 1: it's Josh Allen. I'm looking at Josh Allen. Josh Allen's 5-1. Okay.
- 5:02Speaker 4: Yeah, and then we've got, right behind him, Joe Burrow
- 5:06Speaker 4: and Justin Herberger, each 10-1. Lamar Jackson, 11-1. Drake May, 12-1.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Matthew Stafford, 13-1. Dak Prescott, 14-1.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Now, this is voted on, right? So, Matthew Stafford going
- 5:20Speaker 1: back-to-back would be... It's voted on by Football Writers Association.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Is that right?
- 5:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:26Speaker 1: I mean... How often does back-to-back MVPs happen? It's rare.
- 5:30Speaker 4: Well, I mean, we just had it with Lamar Jackson.
- 5:32Speaker 4: But with all that said, yeah, I mean, for Matthew
- 5:35Speaker 4: Stafford at 37 years old, it would be really, really difficult. Anyway,
- 5:38Speaker 4: he's 13-1. Dak, a lot of people are taking a
- 5:40Speaker 4: flyer on him at 14-1. It's not a bad play.
- 5:42Speaker 4: People are high on the Cowboys this year. Yeah, we've
- 5:45Speaker 4: seen the progression under Ben Johnson of Caleb Williams getting
- 5:48Speaker 4: to an NFC Divisional game last year.
- 5:50Speaker 1: He's 15-1.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Pat Mahomes coming back from the injury. This will be
- 5:55Speaker 4: a trendy pick because when's the last time you could
- 5:57Speaker 4: get him at 17-1?
- 5:58Speaker 1: Right.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Then you've got two guys neck and neck, Brock Purdy
- 6:02Speaker 4: and Trevor Lawrence, both 18-1. Jalen Hurts is 19-1. Just
- 6:07Speaker 4: a couple more. Jordan Love, 22-1. Jerry Goff, 25-1. And
- 6:11Speaker 4: Bo Nix and both Sam Darnold and Jaden Daniels.
- 6:14Speaker 1: All 30-1. So they're giving you quarterback, quarterback, quarterback. If
- 6:18Speaker 1: you had to pick the MVP... I'm going to say
- 6:22Speaker 1: we go back to 2012. First time, non-quarterback. Don't say it.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Jameer Gibbs. What? He's my number one pick in fantasy.
- 6:34Speaker 1: I can't keep it between the lines with you. If
- 6:36Speaker 1: he goes around. If I had said Matthew Stafford or
- 6:40Speaker 1: if I had said Miles Garrett. Hey, this is the
- 6:42Speaker 1: first time I've done the fantasy thing.
- 6:44Speaker 4: I did say last week that Gibbs, I was going
- 6:47Speaker 4: easily number one on Gibbs.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Yeah, but I do believe Gibbs– Gives you a chance
- 6:51Speaker 1: because he has a quarterback who is long odds, and
- 6:54Speaker 1: it would be him running the ball but short passes
- 6:57Speaker 1: out of the background, turning those into big plays. Lions
- 7:00Speaker 1: having a special year. I'll go Gibbs as my MVP.
- 7:04Speaker 1: And I apologize. Is he the highest– is he the
- 7:07Speaker 1: best odds of a non-quarterback? Yes. He's the best odds
- 7:09Speaker 1: of a non-quarterback. Yeah, 45-1, which is still a massive payoff.
- 7:13Speaker 4: I think that– I mean, you're just taking a flyer because–
- 7:17Speaker 4: You would have to have really such a balance between
- 7:20Speaker 4: these other elite quarterbacks.
- 7:21Speaker 1: And then Gibbs is a touchdown machine.
- 7:23Speaker 4: But, you know, if he had 25 to 30 touchdowns,
- 7:26Speaker 4: which is possible. But, I mean, just to put it
- 7:28Speaker 4: in perspective, two years ago, Saquon had 2,005 rushing yards,
- 7:34Speaker 4: and he was third.
- 7:36Speaker 1: In MVP voting. Which is insane. And they won the
- 7:38Speaker 1: Super Bowl. Yeah, took the Eagles. Basically, the Eagles rode
- 7:41Speaker 1: him to the Super Bowl. That's right. And that's insane,
- 7:43Speaker 1: and I think we've learned a lesson as writers.
- 7:46Speaker 4: It's one of the favorites, but I do think Mike McDaniels,
- 7:50Speaker 4: I think that the offense is going to be better
- 7:54Speaker 4: With the Chargers, and I think Justin Herbert is finally
- 7:56Speaker 4: going to have his breakthrough year.
- 7:57Speaker 1: So he's the guy? I'm going to go Justin Herbert.
- 7:59Speaker 1: When do they vote on this? I think end of
- 8:01Speaker 1: the regular season. Because I asked, you know, Herbert's postseason. Yeah,
- 8:04Speaker 1: it's the end of the regular season. It's the end
- 8:06Speaker 1: of the regular season, okay.
- 8:08Speaker 2: I think sneaky good team. I picked them to win
- 8:11Speaker 2: their division the other day when we did it. And
- 8:15Speaker 2: they're going to win the division because this guy is
- 8:17Speaker 2: finally going to stay healthy and have another career year
- 8:18Speaker 2: as Joe Burrow. I'd take Joe Burrow as Cincinnati. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati.
- 8:24Speaker 2: So Gibbs, Herbert, Joe Burrow. It's interesting to watch the MVP.
- 8:33Speaker 2: What really is interesting as well is the fact that
- 8:38Speaker 2: the Giants really putting some Harbaugh fingerprints on that. They
- 8:44Speaker 2: released Darius Slayton yesterday, which surprised.
- 8:47Speaker 1: A lot of people.
- 8:48Speaker 2: That Slayton went out there. The former Auburn wide receiver
- 8:50Speaker 2: who's played up there. Gosh, it seems like he's been
- 8:53Speaker 2: a giant.
- 8:54Speaker 1: For eight years. I would say eight years just off
- 8:57Speaker 1: the top of my head. A late release. And I
- 9:01Speaker 1: don't know if he's been picked up yet by somebody.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Seems like the Titans could use him. But we'll see
- 9:07Speaker 1: if Slayton gets picked up. And then here's another thing
- 9:10Speaker 1: that happened yesterday in the NFL. They extended Roger Goodell.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Through 2031.
- 9:16Speaker 4: I haven't seen what he makes recently, but three or
- 9:20Speaker 4: four years ago it was $ 38 million. I'm going to
- 9:21Speaker 4: say he's up to $ 45 million.
- 9:24Speaker 1: I'll Google that.
- 9:25Speaker 5: I'm just guessing.
- 9:28Speaker 1: The owners love this guy. And this is who makes
- 9:31Speaker 1: the vote. $ 64 million, Lance. A year?
- 9:34Speaker 6: Yep.
- 9:35Speaker 1: That's impossible.
- 9:35Speaker 2: NFL commissioner from the robot, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell earns
- 9:39Speaker 2: an estimated annual compensation of around $ 64 million.
- 9:42Speaker 1: That is impossible.
- 9:43Speaker 4: It's crazy where we are on the economy. And a
- 9:46Speaker 4: lot of people, I mean, to be able to make
- 9:49Speaker 4: that jump from $ 38 million just a few years ago.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Well, but I would say, I mean, what do you
- 9:56Speaker 2: think the overall value of the NFL is in billions?
- 10:01Speaker 4: Oh, I can't even put it... I mean, because if
- 10:04Speaker 4: you start to look, the average franchise is worth.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I mean, just, yeah.
- 10:09Speaker 4: So, like, I don't know how you even equate that.
- 10:12Speaker 4: With all that said, though, I've said this before. They
- 10:14Speaker 4: might love him, but there's a lot of people that.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Could do his job. There are, but he's the one
- 10:18Speaker 1: doing it. And my point was going to be. I mean,
- 10:21Speaker 1: but you're paying me $ 64 million a year. What are
- 10:24Speaker 1: you doing?
- 10:25Speaker 2: The National Football League is the most valuable sports economy
- 10:28Speaker 2: in the world. The average franchise is worth a $ 9.
- 10:31Speaker 1: 3 billion. Yeah. So they give him, basically each franchise
- 10:34Speaker 1: gives him $ 2 million a year. That's basically what it is.
- 10:37Speaker 1: That's not that crazy.
- 10:39Speaker 2: And combined team value, the NFL franchises were worth collectively
- 10:43Speaker 2: near $ 300 billion. So if you found a Fortune 500
- 10:47Speaker 2: company that was worth $ 300 billion, do you think their
- 10:49Speaker 2: CEOs make it $ 64 million?
- 10:51Speaker 1: I would say probably.
- 10:52Speaker 4: Put it in perspective, Goldman Sachs, their CEO, David Solomon,
- 10:57Speaker 4: $ 119 million a year.
- 11:00Speaker 1: That's Goldman Sachs?
- 11:01Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Okay. Okay. You're winning me over. I'd way rather have...
- 11:07Speaker 1: Net worth for Roger Goodell is $ 300 million. So he's
- 11:10Speaker 1: getting to a position where when he wraps this up
- 11:14Speaker 1: in 2031— He's going to be fine.
- 11:16Speaker 4: If he shuts it down— He will not be in
- 11:17Speaker 4: line for government cheese. I used to love government cheese.
- 11:22Speaker 1: When he shuts it down in 2031, do you buy
- 11:25Speaker 1: a franchise at that point? Do you buy in to— No,
- 11:28Speaker 1: he probably— My ass would be out of the game completely,
- 11:31Speaker 1: wouldn't you? I wouldn't want anything to do with it.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I might get Sunday ticket.
- 11:35Speaker 4: He literally, he has seen how the sausage is made
- 11:39Speaker 4: and I probably wouldn't want anything to do with it.
- 11:41Speaker 1: I don't know where Goodell came from before.
- 11:43Speaker 2: He was an attorney with the league. If I remember correctly,
- 11:47Speaker 2: he was just a league attorney.
- 11:49Speaker 4: Began at 82 as a intern in the league office
- 11:51Speaker 4: under Pete Roselle.
- 11:52Speaker 1: He's a lifer. Roselle is the longest serving commissioner, 30 years.
- 11:56Speaker 1: What would Goodell be at in, How many years would
- 11:59Speaker 1: he have been doing this? Is he going to pass Roselle?
- 12:02Speaker 1: I think he will eventually. I don't know if he
- 12:03Speaker 1: does it in 2031. But the owners love him. The
- 12:06Speaker 1: league is doing nothing but exploding. I know, Lance, you've
- 12:10Speaker 1: always said anybody, you know, a thousand people can do
- 12:13Speaker 1: that job. Not anybody, yeah.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Well, a thousand people can do that job. But, I mean,
- 12:17Speaker 2: most of the– he's got to navigate a few things.
- 12:19Speaker 2: And most of the stuff he's navigated, the league has
- 12:21Speaker 2: prospered with. So, I mean, he's not a likable– people
- 12:26Speaker 2: like to hate him.
- 12:27Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 12:28Speaker 1: But that's not why the owners are paying him. Yeah,
- 12:30Speaker 1: I'm not a big fan, but he's done a good
- 12:32Speaker 1: job with it. Yeah, he's done a good job. It
- 12:33Speaker 1: feels like your perception turned a little bit more positive
- 12:36Speaker 1: during the pandemic. Yeah. That he kept things afloat. They
- 12:40Speaker 1: didn't miss one game. It was remarkable.
- 12:43Speaker 2: I mean, they ought to write books about that. The
- 12:46Speaker 2: fact that they were able to navigate that whole thing
- 12:48Speaker 2: and not miss one singular game. Now, they played some
- 12:50Speaker 2: Wednesday afternoon random games, but they didn't miss one. I mean,
- 12:55Speaker 2: that's pretty crazy.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Okay, so he's been the commissioner since 2006. So, I mean,
- 13:00Speaker 1: he's got a while to eclipse that. Yeah, so he
- 13:02Speaker 1: may not catch. Yeah, he'd need another contract extension to
- 13:06Speaker 1: even get to Roselle. Well, he'll be a billionaire by
- 13:08Speaker 1: that point.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Yeah, if I'm at $ 64 million a year, 2031, I mean,
- 13:10Speaker 2: just in this contract extension, I'm going to make somewhere
- 13:15Speaker 2: in the neighborhood of, you know, a quarter of a
- 13:16Speaker 2: billion dollars.
- 13:17Speaker 4: Oh, and I bet he's, you know, making 12% of
- 13:19Speaker 4: his money.
- 13:20Speaker 1: He can double his net worth in four or five years.
- 13:23Speaker 1: So that's half a billion. I mean, why would you
- 13:25Speaker 1: not just walk?
- 13:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I mean, he's not that young anymore either. No. So
- 13:32Speaker 1: I just, I, I think he's done a really good job.
- 13:35Speaker 4: I mean, my ass is old and I was in
- 13:37Speaker 4: fifth grade when he started as an intern.
- 13:38Speaker 1: So he's 67. Yeah. Yeah. So yes. He looks pretty good.
- 13:43Speaker 1: He's older than Kyle Whittingham. Whittingham, 66.
- 13:47Speaker 2: And remarkably, Goodell looks way younger with the crap he's
- 13:50Speaker 2: got to deal with every day.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Yeah, he was born in 1959. Goodell was.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Like if you were born in 1990, you're about to
- 13:57Speaker 1: be 50. You're coming up on 50. Yeah. Jim, that
- 14:02Speaker 1: is not correct. Is it not? No.
- 14:04Speaker 4: No.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Not even close, actually. I was born in 76, and
- 14:06Speaker 1: I just turned 50.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Well, you're 36 if you were born in 90. Well,
- 14:09Speaker 4: I mean, you're chasing down 50.
- 14:11Speaker 1: You're almost there. I mean, my gosh. When were you born, Tyler? 99.
- 14:16Speaker 4: 99? 14 years away. You're chasing down 40, man. Dunaway's
- 14:21Speaker 4: pulling through Hattiesburg.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Man, we're almost in Dallas. Almost in Dallas. A few
- 14:27Speaker 1: more turns. Well, I mean, at that point, you only
- 14:29Speaker 1: turn right, and then you drive, and you get there.
- 14:31Speaker 1: That's true.
- 14:32Speaker 3: On I-10.
- 14:33Speaker 1: All right, one thing before we get out of here
- 14:36Speaker 1: and get to our next break and then our upset
- 14:38Speaker 1: alerts in our next segment. Hope you enjoyed it. It's
- 14:40Speaker 1: the first time you did it last week. We've got
- 14:42Speaker 1: upset alerts coming. It'll be a battle the rest of
- 14:46Speaker 1: the year on who's the best at picking upsets. Did
- 14:48Speaker 1: anybody get it right outside? I know you did. Next segment.
- 14:52Speaker 1: I'm sure there's a scoreboard. Arian Carter in college football
- 14:57Speaker 1: plays for Tennessee. He will make his debut– of the
- 15:01Speaker 1: season this week on the road at Georgia Tech because
- 15:04Speaker 1: he was suspended because he paid $ 427 or his agent
- 15:09Speaker 1: gave him $ 427 for a flight to a training session
- 15:15Speaker 1: leading into the NFL camp, NFL draft last year. He
- 15:19Speaker 1: decided after he got injured that he wasn't going to
- 15:22Speaker 1: stay in the draft. So he went back to college.
- 15:25Speaker 1: and offered to repay the $ 427 and all that, but
- 15:28Speaker 1: they still ruled him ineligible for two games. They cut
- 15:31Speaker 1: that down to a one-game suspension, the NCAA, much to
- 15:35Speaker 1: Tennessee's protest and Arian Carter's protest, because of $ 427 he
- 15:40Speaker 1: did not play last week. He'll make his debut. Arian
- 15:43Speaker 1: Carter yesterday said that he will donate $ 427 to Cancer
- 15:48Speaker 1: Research Every time he makes a tackle this year, sort
- 15:57Speaker 1: of thumbing his nose back at the NCAA and doing
- 16:01Speaker 1: some good out of it, $ 427 for every tackle. Not
- 16:06Speaker 1: every sack, not tackle for loss. Every tackle he makes,
- 16:09Speaker 1: $ 427 to cancer research.
- 16:12Speaker 4: You know, there was probably a time where somebody doing
- 16:16Speaker 4: what we did back on the old terrestrial radio in
- 16:18Speaker 4: the early.
- 16:19Speaker 1: 90s was like, oh, my gosh.
- 16:21Speaker 4: This comes out to Ray Lewis is making $ 427 a tackle.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, it's true. Now here's a college kid. Donating that, yeah.
- 16:30Speaker 1: And by the way, Clay Travis of Sport and State,
- 16:33Speaker 1: always there to jump into a headline, said that he
- 16:38Speaker 1: will match the $ 427 all season long of Arian Carter
- 16:43Speaker 1: of Tennessee. But I thought that was pretty cool. No,
- 16:45Speaker 1: that's very cool. A big middle finger to the NCAA,
- 16:48Speaker 1: and it's going to go to cancer research. So good job.
- 16:51Speaker 1: arian carter who's on upset alert for this week two
- 16:55Speaker 1: of college football when we come back on the next
- 16:58Speaker 1: round presented by hard rock bets on sport and state
- 17:01Speaker 1: forester and brooks are telling me one central on the
- 17:05Speaker 1: ap poll release is that right.
- 17:07Speaker 7: Forester that is correct that is what the ap themselves
- 17:11Speaker 7: say i would think they wouldn't know.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Yeah Power outage last night, pushing that game later. Maybe
- 17:17Speaker 1: they added a couple hours onto it. Maybe that chick
- 17:20Speaker 1: put the wrong team in again.
- 17:23Speaker 8: I think that's usually what time it's released on Sundays
- 17:27Speaker 8: and will be the rest of the season moving forward.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Okay. It's what it was last year. All right. Sorry, Jim.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Jim's so disappointed. He's very dejected.
- 17:37Speaker 6: I know.
- 17:37Speaker 1: I wanted a live update at the top of the
- 17:39Speaker 1: hour here of the new poll. I wanted to see
- 17:41Speaker 1: the LSU overreaction. I've seen a lot of people saying
- 17:45Speaker 1: LSU's number one in my power rankings. LSU, I would have.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Them number one. So there will be an overreaction. They
- 17:50Speaker 2: got zero first place votes. I don't know who will
- 17:53Speaker 2: lose the first place votes. It'll probably be across the board.
- 17:55Speaker 8: We can go mystery fifth hour and just live react
- 17:57Speaker 8: to it if you want to.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I have this thing called a golf tee time.
- 18:00Speaker 1: I'm going to pass on that one right there. All right.
- 18:03Speaker 1: I thought we were making a show here. We're... I'm sorry,
- 18:09Speaker 1: we probably have a movie to go to or something too, right?
- 18:12Speaker 6: I actually don't.
- 18:13Speaker 1: I've seen everything already. I take care of that after hours.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Is there a mystery box being released at one o'clock
- 18:19Speaker 1: or something? Nah, we don't open those anymore. All right,
- 18:22Speaker 1: so let's do our upset alert after. Tell us about
- 18:27Speaker 1: Clay Travis' flaw and we'll get into our upset alert here.
- 18:29Speaker 4: Yeah, look, bad things happen. Accidents don't wait for the
- 18:33Speaker 4: right time. That's why our man Clay Travis decided to
- 18:36Speaker 4: go out and start the Clay Travis Law.
- 18:40Speaker 1: He built a firm around one idea.
- 18:41Speaker 4: People deserve someone willing to pay attention, ask those hard
- 18:44Speaker 4: questions and push back when things don't add up. Experienced
- 18:47Speaker 4: trial attorneys who bring the fight to corporations and insurers.
- 18:50Speaker 4: Based in Nashville, trusted across the country, they lead negotiations
- 18:54Speaker 4: with honesty, determination, and some southern grit. Car and truck wrecks,
- 18:58Speaker 4: rideshare accidents, product liability, medical malpractice. If you were wrong,
- 19:03Speaker 4: they want to hear about it. Here's what they promise.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Honesty.
- 19:05Speaker 4: They're not going to sugarcoat your case. Case evaluation is free.
- 19:08Speaker 4: No charge, no pressure, no hassle. Just tell them your story.
- 19:11Speaker 4: Go to ClayTravisLaw.com or call 877-222-4444. That's ClayTravisLaw.com. No case
- 19:19Speaker 4: is too big or too small.
- 19:20Speaker 1: All right. Upset alert. Do we need to do the
- 19:24Speaker 1: open before we look at standings or changing the costumes
- 19:28Speaker 1: or anything? Forrester, tell me how you want to do this.
- 19:30Speaker 1: You want to go open first? There we go.
- 19:31Speaker 7: There's your animation.
- 19:32Speaker 1: There it is. I like the animation. Anybody get a siren?
- 19:35Speaker 1: Do we have a siren anymore? No siren from Tyler.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Is that not a siren? Damn, we had like seven
- 19:41Speaker 1: or eight sirens at one point. At Brown's we'll do. Yeah.
- 19:48Speaker 6: Can we get a siren for next week? I'll get
- 19:51Speaker 6: one for next week. All the ones we used to
- 19:54Speaker 6: use were attached to different sponsors. So I actually can't
- 19:58Speaker 6: play those.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Okay. Unless you just want to get free promo.
- 20:01Speaker 8: Brown's sounds like when the ambulance just got to the
- 20:03Speaker 8: hospital and it's starting to slow down.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Yeah. It sounds like the way the Siren would have
- 20:08Speaker 1: sounded less on Tallahassee without the proper amount of power.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Let's do, do you have any AI?
- 20:16Speaker 6: I've got a gunshot sound effect for some reason.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Does that work for you? Any AI pictures or do
- 20:21Speaker 1: we just go straight to a standing?
- 20:24Speaker 7: How do you want to do this, Jim?
- 20:25Speaker 1: Let's go standings. Let's go to the standings last week.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Jim wants to see his name at the top. One
- 20:30Speaker 1: correct answer last week in our upset. Is that it?
- 20:33Speaker 1: We only got one? Just one. And an outright winner. Yeah,
- 20:36Speaker 1: and it was an outright winner. I watched a lot
- 20:38Speaker 1: of that game. It was not a fluke. Yeah, I
- 20:39Speaker 1: think that's the largest week one lead. No, I don't
- 20:42Speaker 1: know if that's true or not. Oh, I'd say it was.
- 20:44Speaker 1: There's the lead. 18 and a half to 0-0-0-0. You
- 20:49Speaker 1: get five points for just a cover. You get five
- 20:52Speaker 1: points plus... the spread if you get the outright win,
- 20:56Speaker 1: which Tulsa did end up beating Oklahoma State for the
- 21:00Speaker 1: second straight year. Drew Messermaker, were y'all surprised that his
- 21:05Speaker 1: average yards was less than five? Yeah, I thought that
- 21:10Speaker 1: was going to be much more down the field passing.
- 21:12Speaker 4: You know, if you watch that game, though, problem is
- 21:15Speaker 4: Jacob Sexton, your left tackle gets hurt on the first drive.
- 21:19Speaker 4: And then he was under duress the entire time. Now,
- 21:21Speaker 4: they only ended up giving up four sacks, but he
- 21:23Speaker 4: turned it over a couple of times. Two bad picks.
- 21:27Speaker 4: Caleb Hawkins, who was a 1,400-yard guy, had 79 carries.
- 21:31Speaker 4: There was no explosion with the offense, but I really
- 21:34Speaker 4: do believe that the left tackle, that should not be
- 21:37Speaker 4: the difference in getting beat by Tulsa.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Right. But it did seem to throw that offense out
- 21:42Speaker 1: of whack.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:44Speaker 1: I'll go last. Let's go Brooks first. This week's upset alert.
- 21:48Speaker 1: You saw the rules. Got to be at least four
- 21:49Speaker 1: and a half. I wasn't able to pick my number
- 21:53Speaker 1: one choice because it only got to four. Oh, here
- 21:56Speaker 1: we go. Surprised you didn't change the rules on that. No, no, no.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I texted you guys because we move it so there's
- 22:02Speaker 1: no pushes. We move it a half, and I never
- 22:04Speaker 1: know how to move the half. Well, I mean, if
- 22:07Speaker 1: it was four, you'd move it to four and a half. Yeah,
- 22:10Speaker 1: I didn't want to be accused of cheating.
- 22:12Speaker 8: I saw the same game. I think I had the
- 22:14Speaker 8: same idea as you did, Jim, and I avoided it
- 22:16Speaker 8: for the exact same reason.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Oh, so you all both had Purdue. Correct. That's where
- 22:21Speaker 1: I was going to go. I was going to go Purdue.
- 22:23Speaker 1: It's winter now. Wake rolls. Go ahead and write that down.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Purdue plus four and a half is the way I
- 22:30Speaker 1: was going to go. The way I was going to go.
- 22:32Speaker 1: I was with you, Brooks. I got some intel from
- 22:34Speaker 1: that Purdue camp, West Lafayette. tells me best camp they've
- 22:38Speaker 1: ever had. Really? At Purdue? Yep. That's a high bar.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Low bar all the way up. All right. Give me
- 22:43Speaker 1: your upset alert.
- 22:44Speaker 8: I'm going to go with Arizona State plus 14.5. Didn't
- 22:50Speaker 8: like really anything on the board this week. I do
- 22:52Speaker 8: think Arizona State covers, though. So I'm going to go
- 22:55Speaker 8: with they play on the road at Texas A & M,
- 22:58Speaker 8: 11 a.m.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Kickoff.
- 23:00Speaker 8: I liked what Cutter Bowley did week one, six touchdowns
- 23:02Speaker 8: over 300 yards passing, 70-7 win. for Dillingham and the
- 23:08Speaker 8: Sun Devils. I think that game will play within that number,
- 23:11Speaker 8: and I think maybe Arizona State can pull out an
- 23:14Speaker 8: upset and give me some more points, but I definitely
- 23:16Speaker 8: think Arizona State covers.
- 23:18Speaker 1: All right. Arizona State with the cover there, and they're
- 23:23Speaker 1: at Texas A & M 11 a.m. on ABC, so
- 23:26Speaker 1: that's one of the marquee games this week. Let's go
- 23:29Speaker 1: to Forrester next. Forrester, coming off a loser last week
- 23:34Speaker 1: for you. Who did you think Who'd you blow last week?
- 23:37Speaker 1: Who was, uh... Whoa! Who'd you blow last week, Forrester? Easy,
- 23:41Speaker 1: big fella. Private questions rolling out on a Tuesday morning. Easy,
- 23:44Speaker 1: big fella. Who was your loser last week, Forrester? Much better, Jim.
- 23:49Speaker 7: I had the Youngstown State Penguins last week.
- 23:54Speaker 1: You know, it was close for a little while. Okay,
- 23:57Speaker 1: give me your upset alert this week, Forrester.
- 23:59Speaker 7: Okay. Georgia Tech looked really good first week, right?
- 24:04Speaker 1: No, just the opposite. All right.
- 24:07Speaker 7: Well, you know, we're going to give him a shot
- 24:10Speaker 7: this week against the Vols. We're going to Bobby Dodd Stadium.
- 24:15Speaker 7: We're having some artistic differences in our AI. I wanted
- 24:18Speaker 7: him to sting Smokey there.
- 24:20Speaker 1: That's what I got on his butt.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Oh, Smokey's so sad. He's so sad.
- 24:26Speaker 7: And then swagged out Brent T. He's going to be,
- 24:30Speaker 7: you know, flexing the medallion there.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:34Speaker 7: Give me Georgia Tech plus 12.5 over the walls.
- 24:36Speaker 1: So good. I mean, watch this action right here. I'm
- 24:39Speaker 1: not even sure we can put this on our platform. Yeah,
- 24:41Speaker 1: look at him. Woo! Woo! Smokey seems to really like that.
- 24:46Speaker 1: The first one was okay. That's the worst magic act
- 24:48Speaker 1: of all time, how you make the baton disappear. Boy,
- 24:51Speaker 1: Smokey gets sad. But the best part is the redneck gangster. Yeah.
- 24:55Speaker 1: If he was a little more tan, he might be Pitbull.
- 24:57Speaker 1: That's true. Georgia Tech plus 12 and a half. 12
- 25:04Speaker 1: and a half is a big number. That's a big overreaction.
- 25:06Speaker 7: It could be another play for a cover.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Okay. All right, Lance, let's go to yours next so
- 25:12Speaker 1: everyone else can get in costume.
- 25:13Speaker 3: Lance.
- 25:14Speaker 1: What is your pick?
- 25:15Speaker 4: Hey, look, Arkansas State, I really thought that outside of
- 25:19Speaker 4: the stupid four turnovers, they had the better quarterback, and
- 25:21Speaker 4: he turned it over four times, the Trey Owens kid.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Anyway, terrible pick. I said I would not do this
- 25:27Speaker 1: after watching this game two years.
- 25:29Speaker 4: Ago because I was all over this team in Provo
- 25:32Speaker 4: against BYU, and my man Noah Fafita was 26 of 52,
- 25:38Speaker 4: three picks. They turned it over four times. They got
- 25:40Speaker 4: beat by 22, but I'm going back at it. I
- 25:43Speaker 4: think BYU is the better team, but I like Arizona
- 25:46Speaker 4: in this spot. They turned it over three times against
- 25:48Speaker 4: Lumberjacks in a 35-7 win. By the way, this is
- 25:52Speaker 4: the 1950s Wildcat. There's some detail in that drawing.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Yeah, very well done, Lance. Yeah, and this is a
- 25:59Speaker 1: Lance drawing, too. Yeah. He did not take his homework.
- 26:04Speaker 1: He didn't take it home this year. You outsourced the
- 26:07Speaker 1: old Rebel last year. Oh, yeah, the Rebel I did.
- 26:11Speaker 1: The Rebel. Hats off. So Arizona now, you're saying that
- 26:15Speaker 1: they go into Provo. It's seven and a half. I
- 26:17Speaker 1: think BYU is the better team.
- 26:19Speaker 4: If I was doing a lean right now, I think
- 26:21Speaker 4: BYU or Utah is.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Going to win the Big 12.
- 26:25Speaker 4: But I think Noel Fafita, with this experience, he can't
- 26:27Speaker 4: pull a Kevin Jennings and turn it over like he
- 26:29Speaker 4: did last time he was in Provo. But if they
- 26:31Speaker 4: play clean football, this is going to be a game
- 26:33Speaker 4: that will go to the wire. I think it is
- 26:34Speaker 4: one of the more underrated games that nobody is talking about,
- 26:38Speaker 4: 230 Fox. Again, BYU, better team. But Fafita makes some plays,
- 26:43Speaker 4: and they keep it within the 7.5.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Yeah, good 230 window, Alabama, Kentucky, Arkansas, Arizona, BYU, and
- 26:50Speaker 1: Mississippi State, Minnesota. Three really good TV games right there.
- 26:54Speaker 1: All right. The guy has... Oh, there's Brown. Where'd the
- 26:58Speaker 1: Brown go? It's the Brown Bandit who's back. What's up, fellas?
- 27:02Speaker 7: Hey, man.
- 27:02Speaker 1: It was a tough one last week. Well, you always
- 27:04Speaker 1: let the public win week one, right?
- 27:06Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, you got to throw Vegas off the scent.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Boy, did I.
- 27:09Speaker 2: I was not aware there was going to be a
- 27:10Speaker 2: rain delay, first of all. Secondly, I had the wrong
- 27:14Speaker 2: mask last week. We found my mask. So I am back.
- 27:16Speaker 1: I don't want to make excuses. I want to know
- 27:18Speaker 1: where the other mask came from. Yeah, that's a good question.
- 27:22Speaker 1: What we do up here at night is our business.
- 27:24Speaker 1: You don't take stuff personally, though.
- 27:26Speaker 8: I do not.
- 27:26Speaker 4: I'm talking about you would never pay to have like
- 27:28Speaker 4: the Clemson staff. Like I hit on those guys?
- 27:32Speaker 7: No!
- 27:33Speaker 1: No, no, no. I'll tell you why. I think the
- 27:36Speaker 1: mask came out of Scott's little adventure box that he
- 27:39Speaker 1: keeps up here. Okay.
- 27:41Speaker 7: Wow, you are throwing all sorts of stuff around about me.
- 27:45Speaker 1: The adventure box. I haven't seen this adventure box. Baby,
- 27:51Speaker 1: pull out the adventure box.
- 27:52Speaker 6: That's behind the paywall.
- 27:53Speaker 1: If I forget lunch, is there a snack in there?
- 27:57Speaker 1: It depends. Only one way to find out. There might
- 28:00Speaker 1: be something edible in there, Lance. It depends. Baby, pull
- 28:03Speaker 1: out the adventure box. The anniversary's Thursday. Nobody has an
- 28:07Speaker 1: adventure box at home. An adventure box. I think it's
- 28:10Speaker 1: just called the top drawer. That's where he keeps people
- 28:13Speaker 1: he hates. All right. Back to it.
- 28:20Speaker 2: The reason I wouldn't put out a hit on the
- 28:22Speaker 2: Clemson staff, Lance, is what I give you idiots here
- 28:25Speaker 2: on the show is just a public pick.
- 28:27Speaker 1: On my paid service. So you're giving us losers now? Well, no.
- 28:32Speaker 1: I won last year, if you will remember, Jim. Five outright.
- 28:36Speaker 2: So what I gave on my paid service, and it
- 28:38Speaker 2: is only available to people with a net worth of
- 28:40Speaker 2: $ 50 million or more.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Is three games last week. So Roger Goodell can get them.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Roger Goodell is in. I'm not saying I give him
- 28:46Speaker 2: picks or I don't, but he could. I gave him
- 28:50Speaker 2: three games last week. I said, whatever you do, whatever
- 28:53Speaker 2: you do, take the UMass Moneyline on Thursday night.
- 28:57Speaker 1: The outright winner. Yeah, that was a nice play. Take
- 29:00Speaker 1: the Tulsa Moneyline on Saturday. I gave you that one,
- 29:03Speaker 1: but yeah, outright winner. Take all of those.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Take everything you make from that and put it all
- 29:08Speaker 2: on the Western Michigan Moneyline. And when that Hail Mary
- 29:13Speaker 2: fell short, I turned the TV off and we started
- 29:15Speaker 2: to party. And my wife was like, Bandit, are you
- 29:18Speaker 2: not going to watch this? I was like, it's not
- 29:20Speaker 2: like the Big Ten has a clock nobody can see.
- 29:22Speaker 2: They're going to add another play.
- 29:23Speaker 5: To the game.
- 29:23Speaker 1: What kind of party do y'all do? Oh, man, did
- 29:25Speaker 1: we blow it out. Was she in her wedding dress?
- 29:28Speaker 1: She was from the Adventure Box. In the passenger seat
- 29:31Speaker 1: of the Trans Am when she called you Bandit? Bandit.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Very old joke. You call a frauder. Very old joke.
- 29:39Speaker 1: But that was prime Sally Field. That was her best. Bandit.
- 29:43Speaker 2: I was watching the show on my way in on
- 29:45Speaker 2: the private jet, and you guys were talking about, you
- 29:48Speaker 2: think Pittsburgh's good?
- 29:50Speaker 1: And the ACC? I'm not eliminating them. Yeah, I think
- 29:52Speaker 1: Pittsburgh's pretty good.
- 29:53Speaker 2: You can eliminate them after Saturday because look who's coming
- 29:57Speaker 2: to town.
- 29:58Speaker 1: The old Knights of Central Florida. It's Iron Man. Iron Man.
- 30:01Speaker 2: The Knights of Central Florida coming to town.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Order more black marker.
- 30:05Speaker 2: And thank you, Lance. Oh, that was Jim copying Lance.
- 30:08Speaker 2: And seven and a half is the number here. Pitt's
- 30:11Speaker 2: so good. How are they only giving seven and a
- 30:13Speaker 2: half to Central Florida? That doesn't make sense. Give me
- 30:16Speaker 2: the Knights of Central Florida.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Where's the gold?
- 30:22Speaker 2: We don't have a gold, Scott. We've got a brown
- 30:24Speaker 2: that kind of looks gold, but I have found that the.
- 30:26Speaker 1: More you color it with, the worse it gets. Gold
- 30:28Speaker 1: and maize up here are really tough. Yeah, it's really,
- 30:30Speaker 1: really tough. Seven and a half, not finished yet. Seven
- 30:33Speaker 1: and a half. I know you're itching to make your pick. Well,
- 30:35Speaker 1: they're waiting for a winner. Seven.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Seven and a half points there at Akershire Stadium in
- 30:41Speaker 2: front of 20,000 of the most vocal Pitt fans you
- 30:44Speaker 2: can find.
- 30:45Speaker 1: But guess what, Tyler? We don't need up! We don't
- 30:49Speaker 1: need up! UCF, the Canites win straight up. If you
- 30:52Speaker 1: had tickets, would you skip the game and go to the...
- 30:54Speaker 1: If it were in my backyard. What is the place
- 30:56Speaker 1: with fries on the sandwich? Primaniti Brothers. Primanti Brothers. Thank you, Scott.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Primanti Brothers, yes. Ate the sandwich. A bit overrated, in
- 31:05Speaker 1: my opinion. What'd you think, Scott?
- 31:06Speaker 7: Uh, there's a lot going on.
- 31:08Speaker 2: A bit overrated in my opinion, but, uh, I say
- 31:11Speaker 2: all that to say central Florida, seven and a half.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Uh, very good. Very good. Okay. So for me, uh,
- 31:17Speaker 1: Purdue was my number one play, but, but, uh, I'll
- 31:20Speaker 1: go to my number two play. Uh, last time Nico
- 31:25Speaker 1: Amelieva had good back-to-back games. Um, yeah, think about it.
- 31:29Speaker 1: It takes a while. Good game winning on the road
- 31:32Speaker 1: at Cal. Now they're at the Rose Bowl where there
- 31:34Speaker 1: will be zero atmosphere. San Diego State coming to town.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Sean Lewis' team rebuilding the defense, but they've got a
- 31:41Speaker 1: running back that is legit. I'm going to take 11.5
- 31:45Speaker 1: this week, and I'm going to ride with San Diego State.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Notice how I saved the markers. I didn't color them
- 31:52Speaker 1: all the way in. Yeah, thank you. 11.5, San Diego
- 31:57Speaker 1: State to win it outright against UCLA.
- 32:02Speaker 4: I was very impressed with what Bob Chesney was able
- 32:05Speaker 4: to do as far as them running the football and
- 32:07Speaker 4: not making Nico do a lot.
- 32:09Speaker 1: That was a physical UCLA team. I mean, Nico went
- 32:12Speaker 1: out hurt.
- 32:13Speaker 2: And you do wonder, even though he came back in
- 32:15Speaker 2: to basically hand it off and take knees, which I
- 32:18Speaker 2: don't know if you guys are surprised by that. Yep.
- 32:21Speaker 2: They said it was only a cramp, but it looked
- 32:22Speaker 2: much worse than a cramp. And you wonder if that
- 32:25Speaker 2: lingers with him a little bit, too, Jim.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Portland State, who San Diego State beat last week 53-20.
- 32:31Speaker 1: I think Sean Lewis does a good job. San Diego
- 32:34Speaker 1: State was one of those fringe 5-6 G6 teams that
- 32:39Speaker 1: you would start thinking about maybe wiggling their way into
- 32:42Speaker 1: a playoff discussion. They would need a big win this
- 32:45Speaker 1: week against UCLA to get that motor running there. I
- 32:49Speaker 1: like San Diego State to come out of nowhere and
- 32:51Speaker 1: beat UCLA, and that's our upset alert. So we've got
- 32:54Speaker 1: Arizona State. We've got Georgia Tech. We've got UCF, we've
- 32:59Speaker 1: got Arizona, and we've got San Diego State putting all
- 33:03Speaker 1: the teams they're playing on upset alert here. Which one
- 33:06Speaker 1: do you like the most other than yours? Other than mine?
- 33:13Speaker 4: I don't really like any of them.
- 33:15Speaker 1: I don't. I'm just being honest with you.
- 33:18Speaker 4: I think UCLA is going to pop San Diego State.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Of course, I thought the other last week, so who knows.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Tyler is spot on.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Arizona stole Tom from the Cowboy Tom from Tommy Jerry,
- 33:28Speaker 2: didn't they?
- 33:28Speaker 6: Yep, I saw somebody in the chat say, it kind
- 33:31Speaker 6: of looks like Tom and Jerry.
- 33:32Speaker 1: And then I.
- 33:33Speaker 6: Remembered this episode where Tom uses his revolver to light
- 33:37Speaker 6: up a cigarette and impress the girl cat.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Always smoking back then. And the smoke spells out howdy
- 33:43Speaker 1: when he blows it out. But let me ask you,
- 33:46Speaker 1: which came first, that Tom and Jerry? That's a good question.
- 33:48Speaker 1: That Tom and Jerry is pretty old. Yeah, I think
- 33:50Speaker 1: this is the 50s logo. Yeah, Tom and Jerry may
- 33:53Speaker 1: have stole.
- 33:55Speaker 6: If that's a 50s logo, then Tom and Jerry came later.
- 33:57Speaker 1: That's right.
- 33:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 33:58Speaker 1: I mean, pull Arizona logos. I'm pretty sure this one's
- 34:01Speaker 1: from the 50s. I like that logo. I'd use it more.
- 34:04Speaker 1: I mean, we got the boots with the Spurs on it. Yeah,
- 34:08Speaker 1: I like a lot of old school logos. Yeah, I
- 34:09Speaker 1: do too. Boots with the Spurs.
- 34:11Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:12Speaker 1: I wanted to do that terrible cat right there. Oh,
- 34:14Speaker 1: that would have taken forever. Meth cat. 50 to 70
- 34:17Speaker 1: is the one you just drew.
- 34:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:18Speaker 2: And then we've got the one that just stole copper
- 34:20Speaker 2: from the air conditioner from 71.
- 34:22Speaker 1: I mean, you know he did something. There's a felony
- 34:26Speaker 1: on his sheet. That is the man that knows the
- 34:27Speaker 1: price of copper. There is no doubt. In 1981-89, Arizona
- 34:31Speaker 1: just says, we're going to be the AFC. Is that when.
- 34:34Speaker 8: Did Tucson turn into– I feel like it's known for
- 34:38Speaker 8: math out there, right?
- 34:39Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 34:40Speaker 6: I think the Arizona cat, the second one, is cousins
- 34:43Speaker 6: with the Clemson Tiger.
- 34:44Speaker 1: The myth tiger? Yeah.
- 34:46Speaker 4: Brooks, I went to– I'll never forget this. I went
- 34:48Speaker 4: to the first club I ever went to in Tucson.
- 34:51Speaker 4: There was a shooting the night I was there.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 34:53Speaker 8: They have just the head logo of the second cat,
- 34:57Speaker 8: and it looks even more stoned.
- 34:59Speaker 1: It probably wasn't shooting at somebody. They were probably just
- 35:02Speaker 1: lighting cigarettes like Tom and Jerry. That's our upset alert
- 35:06Speaker 1: here on the next round, presented by Hard Rock Bets
- 35:09Speaker 1: on Sporting State. A lot more coming up right here
- 35:11Speaker 1: on The Big Show. All right, final segment of our
- 35:14Speaker 1: Sporting State part of the day on the next round,
- 35:18Speaker 1: presented by Hard Rock Bets. Before Brownie tells us about XXXY,
- 35:23Speaker 1: some of you were interested in hearing John Summerall chew
- 35:27Speaker 1: some butt about his defense after we talked with Jeff
- 35:32Speaker 1: Collins earlier, who just loved Summerall's approach to coaching. Here's
- 35:37Speaker 1: John Summerall postgame after Florida's big win over FAU, but
- 35:42Speaker 1: it wasn't good enough for Summerall.
- 35:44Speaker 3: Yeah, early on with them, we couldn't keep pace. Our
- 35:47Speaker 3: defense was atrocious at times. quite honestly. We had a
- 35:52Speaker 3: hard time keeping pace with them. It was that way,
- 35:56Speaker 3: in my opinion. I'll watch this play. I'm really a
- 35:58Speaker 3: little bit frustrated with how we play defensively at times.
- 36:02Speaker 3: I don't think we're as good as we think we are.
- 36:03Speaker 3: I think we've got some guys who feel like we've
- 36:07Speaker 3: arrived in some spots and that'll be addressed. We've got
- 36:12Speaker 3: a lot of room to grow on defense. If it
- 36:16Speaker 3: doesn't happen real fast, we're going to get embarrassed and
- 36:18Speaker 3: exposed pretty handedly in some spots because that wasn't a
- 36:22Speaker 3: great performance by us.
- 36:24Speaker 1: They get Campbell this week, so we will know nothing
- 36:27Speaker 1: about this team before they come to Jordan-Hare Stadium in
- 36:29Speaker 1: week three. I thought Philo was better than advertised.
- 36:32Speaker 4: Back to what Jeff Collins was talking about, Buster Faulkner.
- 36:35Speaker 4: You saw the difference between him and George Godsey, the
- 36:38Speaker 4: guy calling plays for the Redneck Gangster the other night.
- 36:41Speaker 4: It was night and day, but the defense was leaky.
- 36:44Speaker 4: Florida Atlantic is improved, but 11-22 on third downs, 396
- 36:46Speaker 4: total yards. But Florida did not punt.
- 36:52Speaker 2: And I brought that up to Staples yesterday, and he
- 36:55Speaker 2: said probably back to the Mullen era, you'd have to
- 36:57Speaker 2: go to find a game where they didn't punt. I
- 37:00Speaker 2: did not know Buster Faulkner was quite that well-regarded. As
- 37:05Speaker 2: Jeff Collins literally saying, he's doing stuff nobody else is
- 37:08Speaker 2: doing in the league. So that's interesting to me.
- 37:10Speaker 1: We'll see if that's positive or negative. Yeah, I flipped by.
- 37:13Speaker 2: It's interesting that everybody's saying that about Buster Faulkner because.
- 37:17Speaker 1: We all respect Cole, right? Cole Kublik and his opinions. Absolutely.
- 37:21Speaker 2: I doubt you guys watch very much at all of
- 37:23Speaker 2: the Arkansas-North Alabama game, but Arkansas didn't exactly blow their
- 37:27Speaker 2: doors off.
- 37:28Speaker 1: So I flipped over just to see how bad it looked.
- 37:31Speaker 1: I mean, 31-14. Yeah.
- 37:33Speaker 2: And typical Arkansas, eight penalties, three turnovers. So I flipped
- 37:36Speaker 2: over just to see how bad it looked. And it
- 37:39Speaker 2: was fairly late in the game, so Cole was filling
- 37:41Speaker 2: time with Dave Neal. And Cole said this phrase, if
- 37:45Speaker 2: Florida gets good quarterback play from Aaron Filo, they will
- 37:49Speaker 2: be hell on wheels with that offense. So That was
- 37:52Speaker 2: the phrase he used. He was talking about Jaden Ball.
- 37:54Speaker 2: He was talking about their offensive line, all those things.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Ball was terrific.
- 37:57Speaker 2: And he said, I don't know what Philo's going to
- 37:59Speaker 2: do in that system, but if they get the play
- 38:00Speaker 2: I think they can on him, that offense will be
- 38:02Speaker 2: hell on wheels.
- 38:02Speaker 1: And guess who we didn't see on Saturday? Eric Singleton. Yeah.
- 38:06Speaker 1: I can, man. I just... Yet. Yet. I keep saying
- 38:10Speaker 1: that about him. I'm just saying that's another one. 66
- 38:11Speaker 1: points without Singleton. Yeah, never punted. So, interesting. Ball, 14,
- 38:16Speaker 1: carries 163 touchdowns, limited action against Florida Atlantic. limited action
- 38:21Speaker 1: against Campbell, and then we'll see what they have when
- 38:23Speaker 1: they come play Auburn in week three. Before you tell
- 38:27Speaker 1: us about XXXY, a little breaking-ish news, developing news in college?
- 38:33Speaker 2: Well, it's in the SEC lawsuit, and this is being
- 38:35Speaker 2: played up as a big deal. But the SEC, don't forget,
- 38:38Speaker 2: now that the games have started, we're not going to
- 38:40Speaker 2: spend a ton of time talking about it on the
- 38:41Speaker 2: show because we've got games to talk about. But the
- 38:43Speaker 2: SEC did request the federal judge here in Birmingham to
- 38:46Speaker 2: add to their lawsuit that the SEC does have the
- 38:52Speaker 2: leeway to expel LSU from the league. They want that
- 38:55Speaker 2: spelled out in the lawsuit that that is part of
- 38:57Speaker 2: the SEC powers that LSU could be expelled from the league.
- 39:01Speaker 2: I don't think it's ever going to come to that,
- 39:02Speaker 2: but it is interesting when you see a college conference
- 39:06Speaker 2: asking a judge to make sure that everybody involved in
- 39:09Speaker 2: this lawsuit knows they have the right to expel that
- 39:11Speaker 2: team from the league. And I don't know if you
- 39:13Speaker 2: guys saw Feinbaum, what he said. I know Clay retweeted it.
- 39:16Speaker 2: It was on the SEC Network. And Clay's point was,
- 39:20Speaker 2: rarely do you see a conference network go this hard
- 39:22Speaker 2: in on one of their coaches or teams. But for
- 39:26Speaker 2: Paul to talk about on the SEC Nation show, live
- 39:29Speaker 2: from the Auburn.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Bay Area, game.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Where are the adults around lane kiffin because he's not
- 39:34Speaker 2: one why is nobody stepping in and stopping lane kiffin
- 39:37Speaker 2: where's your school president where's your athletic director they are
- 39:39Speaker 2: mia and then for paul to say right now 15
- 39:43Speaker 2: of the 16 schools would expel them from the conference
- 39:45Speaker 2: if there was a vote um that was I mean,
- 39:49Speaker 2: I would find that hard to believe, but, you know,
- 39:51Speaker 2: Paul's well-connected.
- 39:53Speaker 1: You know Lane loves this. That's if they were playing
- 39:57Speaker 1: the NFL players, what they haven't done yet. Tell us
- 40:00Speaker 1: about XXXY, and then, Tyler, give me Cut11 instead.
- 40:05Speaker 2: XXXY, founded by Jennifer Say, she's a former national champion gymnast,
- 40:10Speaker 2: And she's also a former Levi's brand president. And she
- 40:13Speaker 2: walked away from that corporate job rather than to say
- 40:16Speaker 2: something she didn't believe in. And when she walked away,
- 40:18Speaker 2: she started XXXY Athletics. Here is their mission and their words.
- 40:22Speaker 2: Empower female athletes to take a stand for fair competition.
- 40:26Speaker 2: So they launched a movement. It's a tee that launched
- 40:28Speaker 2: a movement, a T-shirt that launched a movement. Real athletic apparel,
- 40:32Speaker 2: not just some slogan on a shirt. They've got performance tops.
- 40:35Speaker 2: They've got tanks. They've got sports bras, leggings, shorts, training sets, hoodies, hats,
- 40:41Speaker 2: graphic tees. They've got men's clothing. They've got women's clothing.
- 40:44Speaker 2: They've got Nashville Balls clothing. Clay Travis Future WNBA Franchise,
- 40:48Speaker 2: official provider there of Nashville Balls merch. You can get 20%
- 40:54Speaker 2: off your first order. When you sign up, you get
- 40:55Speaker 2: free shipping over $ 100. And here is the website, xxxyathletics.com.
- 41:00Speaker 2: That is xx-xyathletics.com.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Here's Lane Kiffin yesterday on what Paul Feinbaum had to
- 41:08Speaker 1: say about the 15 other schools that would vote to
- 41:13Speaker 1: expel LSU. I like Paul. I really do.
- 41:17Speaker 5: And he knows that he said something one time to
- 41:19Speaker 5: me about like, or he said something about me being
- 41:22Speaker 5: like the ex-atex and you respond back or something. I
- 41:26Speaker 5: don't think of Paul like that. They have a job
- 41:28Speaker 5: to do. And I understand. Those things used to make
- 41:31Speaker 5: me mad and upset. And then I realized, okay, they
- 41:33Speaker 5: have a job to do, especially when two people go
- 41:35Speaker 5: on a show. Usually they've got to take opposite sides.
- 41:37Speaker 5: And it's just, Paul's sick. And really, if you study
- 41:40Speaker 5: over time, if Paul's on you, you probably have been
- 41:44Speaker 5: doing really well or you're about to do really well.
- 41:47Speaker 5: Because I always remember, Paul, every other year at Alabama,
- 41:50Speaker 5: it was Saban's done, the dynasty's over.
- 41:53Speaker 1: He can't coach.
- 41:54Speaker 5: He can't keep up anymore with tempo offense. And so
- 41:57Speaker 5: Paul would kill him every other year. And then he'd
- 41:59Speaker 5: go in a national championship. So when Paul does it,
- 42:02Speaker 5: I like it because it usually means something good is
- 42:04Speaker 5: about to happen. But he is the definition of rat poison.
- 42:09Speaker 5: He sent me today his own thing where he said
- 42:13Speaker 5: about we're the hottest place to go and every recruit
- 42:16Speaker 5: should want to come here and everything. And so I
- 42:18Speaker 5: responded back to him like, thanks for the rat poison
- 42:20Speaker 5: because that's what your players read. And then all of
- 42:23Speaker 5: a sudden they think, okay, we've arrived.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Okay, that's Lane Kippen. He's playing with the media, though.
- 42:33Speaker 1: I do not buy that that was leaked locker room
- 42:37Speaker 1: halftime speech of Lane Kiffin. Oh, I think it was leaked. Oh, no,
- 42:42Speaker 1: it was 100% orchestrated. No, that's what I'm saying.
- 42:46Speaker 6: No.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. It wasn't. Yeah, there's no way. It was
- 42:50Speaker 1: recorded intentionally that way.
- 42:53Speaker 2: And.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Wanted to be put out by Lane Kiffin. He is
- 42:56Speaker 1: so hokey. It's propaganda for us. And by the way,
- 43:00Speaker 1: I didn't find it all that impressive. If that's what
- 43:04Speaker 1: he's releasing, I was like.
- 43:07Speaker 4: And he wants to show this hard-ass side of him. Yeah, 100%.
- 43:11Speaker 4: He leaked it out. That's the thing. Villains have got
- 43:15Speaker 4: to have an edge. He's too awkward to have an edge.
- 43:19Speaker 4: There's no swagger when it comes to Lane Kiffin.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it almost.
- 43:24Speaker 2: Felt like he was reading a script let's drop as
- 43:25Speaker 2: many f-bombs as you can drop yeah they don't really
- 43:28Speaker 2: have to make sense just drop them in there every
- 43:29Speaker 2: now and then and I the whole speech didn't really
- 43:32Speaker 2: make a lot of sense I didn't think it was
- 43:34Speaker 2: all that impressive but I did not but it was
- 43:36Speaker 2: we're unanimous that Lane was behind I would I I
- 43:39Speaker 2: would bet an enormous amount of money on that.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Yeah. Wouldn't it surprise me if Knox was recording, you
- 43:44Speaker 1: know what I mean? Or one of his friends. Well,
- 43:47Speaker 1: and they're putting down on the shoes. Yeah, exactly.
- 43:50Speaker 2: And you notice a lot of shoes that would be
- 43:52Speaker 2: so easy to know who recorded that.
- 43:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 43:54Speaker 1: And if it were, like, I will say this.
- 43:56Speaker 2: If somebody recorded secretly a Nick Saban locker room and
- 44:00Speaker 2: sent it out, and it was that easy to track down,
- 44:02Speaker 2: how quickly is that guy out of a job?
- 44:03Speaker 1: Gone.
- 44:04Speaker 8: Gone.
- 44:04Speaker 1: You never hear from him again. Last night he was fired.
- 44:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Never hear from him again.
- 44:07Speaker 3: Yep.
- 44:08Speaker 1: I would say this, too. Lane likes that getting out there,
- 44:13Speaker 1: but I agree with 100% what Jeff said earlier, that
- 44:17Speaker 1: he is pouring fire on we're the villains. You heard
- 44:20Speaker 1: him say that to his players. Oh, yeah, he said
- 44:22Speaker 1: it in the speech. Yeah, but he's doing that with
- 44:25Speaker 1: his fan base as well, and that works, man. When
- 44:29Speaker 1: you're winning at a place like LSU, you pour fire
- 44:33Speaker 1: on a fan base that is that volatile anyway. That works, man.
- 44:38Speaker 1: It turns up the notch 100%. Yeah, I'm sure the
- 44:41Speaker 1: LSU fans today are eating this up. I mean, you
- 44:45Speaker 1: guys watched it. You watched game day. I mean, they
- 44:49Speaker 1: are right now, but if they start losing.
- 44:52Speaker 2: Right now, LSU fans probably don't think they're going to
- 44:54Speaker 2: lose one this year after Saturday night. I mean, they
- 44:56Speaker 2: are drunk on that outcome Saturday night.
- 44:59Speaker 1: So I want to ask this question. I'll give you
- 45:02Speaker 1: time to think about it. LT, I'll let Brown go first.
- 45:06Speaker 1: After one week of games, we've seen everybody on the
- 45:09Speaker 1: field at least one game. What team do you feel
- 45:14Speaker 1: like you're walking out on a limb with right now?
- 45:17Speaker 1: You're walking on thin ice with that you're starting to
- 45:20Speaker 1: really believe in that may end up making you look. Now,
- 45:25Speaker 1: maybe you weren't believing in until you saw him. Or
- 45:27Speaker 1: maybe you were, and you're walking out on a limb
- 45:30Speaker 1: on them right now that that limb may end up breaking.
- 45:33Speaker 2: So when you say believe in, it doesn't necessarily have
- 45:35Speaker 2: to be national championship. You're just saying this team's better
- 45:38Speaker 2: than I thought.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Yeah. And that team for me is state. And they
- 45:40Speaker 1: go to Minnesota this weekend. Mississippi State. Yeah, Mississippi State.
- 45:44Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 45:45Speaker 1: They go to Minnesota this weekend. Who else am I
- 45:48Speaker 1: talking about? We have a lot of states.
- 45:50Speaker 2: Everybody just says state. They mean Mississippi State around here.
- 45:52Speaker 2: But okay, Mississippi State. They go to Minnesota this weekend.
- 45:56Speaker 2: I'm trying to take you national, Brad.
- 45:57Speaker 1: Thank you, buddy.
- 45:58Speaker 2: There's a whole league of states. I find that to
- 46:01Speaker 2: be a– yeah, that is true.
- 46:02Speaker 1: It's a Pac-12 team. Pac-State. I find that to be
- 46:06Speaker 1: one of the more fascinating games of the weekend, honestly.
- 46:07Speaker 5: Me too.
- 46:08Speaker 2: I know name brand people won't get fired up about
- 46:11Speaker 2: Mississippi State at Minnesota. But that is a game in
- 46:14Speaker 2: years past, regardless of how good Minnesota was, State goes
- 46:17Speaker 2: up there and loses.
- 46:18Speaker 1: If Jeff Levy can take them up there, beat a
- 46:20Speaker 1: Big Ten team on the road, a mid-tier Big Ten
- 46:23Speaker 1: team at best, I'll grant you that, but they go
- 46:25Speaker 1: beat them on the road and go 2-0, yeah, I mean,
- 46:29Speaker 1: I think State has shown me something. LT, do you
- 46:31Speaker 1: have one right now?
- 46:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, for me, I thought they were a
- 46:35Speaker 4: nine-win team before the year. I thought they were a
- 46:37Speaker 4: borderline playoff team, but USC.
- 46:39Speaker 3: USC.
- 46:40Speaker 4: Watching USC week one, what they did in the fourth quarter,
- 46:44Speaker 4: Luke Weaver and San Jose State going up and down
- 46:46Speaker 4: the field, but it was against a bunch of threes.
- 46:48Speaker 4: Last week, they wanted to show something a little bit
- 46:51Speaker 4: more defensively under Gary Patterson, and they completely dominated Fresno State.
- 46:56Speaker 4: I felt bad for the Fresno State quarterback. I didn't
- 46:58Speaker 4: think he'd make it through the game. Now, we will
- 47:00Speaker 4: not know about USC for two more weeks.
- 47:03Speaker 1: My fear is.
- 47:04Speaker 4: 15 true freshmen playing. And they've already got a Malachi
- 47:08Speaker 4: Toney and Trent Mosley. Just watch the kid play. A
- 47:11Speaker 4: true freshman wide receiver that can do absolutely everything. Maheva
- 47:15Speaker 4: is next level good. You've got two running backs in
- 47:18Speaker 4: Wayman Jordan and King Miller that are really good. That
- 47:20Speaker 4: defensive line attacks. Gary Patterson knows what he's doing. And USC,
- 47:24Speaker 4: if these freshmen come together, you guys have got to
- 47:26Speaker 4: help me. I can't remember the last time we had
- 47:28Speaker 4: a national championship contender or let's even go playoff contender
- 47:32Speaker 4: with that many contributing freshmen. Because Nick Saban and Kirby
- 47:35Speaker 4: Smart have always done it, but it's like eight to
- 47:37Speaker 4: ten maybe, and they're not big roles.
- 47:39Speaker 1: These are big roles. With a portal, you'll.
- 47:41Speaker 2: Probably never see it again. I mean, this is, I think,
- 47:43Speaker 2: pretty unique for a team. If they're able to do it.
- 47:46Speaker 2: Trent Mosley is legit.
- 47:47Speaker 1: He's like, he reminds me of when we first saw
- 47:49Speaker 1: Zechariah Branch in that offense. You're like, oh. He's not
- 47:54Speaker 1: quite Jeremiah Smith, but he's a guy that you're like. No,
- 47:56Speaker 1: he's Malachi Toney. I'm telling you. This guy could go
- 47:59Speaker 1: right now.
- 47:59Speaker 4: Yeah, his explosion, the ability to make guys miss. He
- 48:05Speaker 4: does it on special teams. He's got great hands. He's
- 48:08Speaker 4: just going to be incredible. I would not be surprised
- 48:11Speaker 4: at all if he is a second-team All-American this year
- 48:14Speaker 4: because first team's already done.
- 48:16Speaker 1: Yeah, with Malachi, Tony, and Jeremiah Smith. Listen, I know
- 48:19Speaker 1: it was Furman, but I thought Faison Brandon looked really good,
- 48:23Speaker 1: and I just felt like that team at Tennessee was
- 48:26Speaker 1: only missing with all the other parts they have was
- 48:30Speaker 1: only missing because that's a pretty good defensive football team,
- 48:33Speaker 1: Tennessee is. I felt like they were only missing– quarterback
- 48:37Speaker 1: play a quarterback play to get him back in the
- 48:41Speaker 1: playoff discussion and i think this guy will know more
- 48:45Speaker 1: after the road trip to georgia tech but i think
- 48:46Speaker 1: this guy could be legit and tennessee could be a
- 48:50Speaker 1: sneaky playoff contender in the sec so i was thinking
- 48:52Speaker 1: about what chase daniel said and it made me think
- 48:56Speaker 1: who in the sec were you disappointed in at quarterback
- 48:59Speaker 1: this week byron bro who still threw for 300-plus yards
- 49:03Speaker 1: and scored the game-winning touchdown. But it was the turnovers.
- 49:06Speaker 2: I don't disagree with you, but my point is it's
- 49:08Speaker 2: not like he threw for 150 yards and three turnovers.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it wasn't Bryce Underwood. Yeah, it was 300 yards,
- 49:13Speaker 1: and he still scored the game winner on his but
- 49:15Speaker 1: they only had 17 points i get it i get
- 49:18Speaker 1: it and but i'm not saying they were empty yards
- 49:20Speaker 1: and i am not i guess i am saying they
- 49:22Speaker 1: kind of are i'm not arguing with you about it
- 49:24Speaker 1: i'm just saying if that's the word if that's the
- 49:26Speaker 1: one you're disappointed in think about that for a second
- 49:29Speaker 1: but but i And I thought it would be a
- 49:32Speaker 1: little bit different with Byron.
- 49:33Speaker 4: But if we listed our top 10 SEC quarterbacks, I
- 49:35Speaker 4: don't think anybody would.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Not that it matters. It's only one weekend and they're 1-0.
- 49:39Speaker 1: And I don't disagree.
- 49:39Speaker 2: But I'm saying if that was the one that disappointed you,
- 49:42Speaker 2: if that performance was the only one you could say,
- 49:44Speaker 2: think about what you're saying there. That in the entire SEC,
- 49:47Speaker 2: you're saying 15 of 16 performed at least to what
- 49:50Speaker 2: I thought they would, if not better. I mean, that's
- 49:53Speaker 2: pretty remarkable. And back to Faison Brandon.
- 49:55Speaker 4: I mean, we don't know a lot because it was
- 49:57Speaker 4: the Paladins of Furman, but still, they went 638 total yards.
- 50:02Speaker 4: I think they've identified who their alpha is going to
- 50:04Speaker 4: be as far as the wide receiver at Mike Matthews.
- 50:07Speaker 4: You know you can run it with Deshaun Bishop. The
- 50:09Speaker 4: defense is going to be good under Knoll. So Tennessee,
- 50:12Speaker 4: you don't need a letdown. I know Forrester believes there's
- 50:15Speaker 4: going to be a letdown over in Bobby Dodd this weekend.
- 50:17Speaker 4: Kennesaw State is a– an upcoming program but not one
- 50:22Speaker 4: that they're going to have a problem with but in
- 50:24Speaker 4: three weeks they've got you guys tell me the last
- 50:26Speaker 4: time a game was this massive in Neyland they've got
- 50:29Speaker 4: Texas rolling in yeah and if Texas beats Ohio State
- 50:32Speaker 4: this week.
- 50:32Speaker 2: Yeah this is as big a game as they've had
- 50:34Speaker 2: since they beat Alabama up.
- 50:35Speaker 4: There yeah I mean could that be a game day
- 50:37Speaker 4: oh yeah I don't know I don't know September 26th why.
- 50:40Speaker 1: Not let the let the fun begin I would tell
- 50:43Speaker 1: you um with um It's an early game. What now?
- 50:47Speaker 2: I was just telling him that's an early game. He
- 50:49Speaker 2: was asking if that could be game day. If it matters,
- 50:51Speaker 2: that's an 11 o'clock kick.
- 50:53Speaker 1: Texas and Tennessee. Technically, if that is. God, that sucks
- 50:56Speaker 1: for Tennessee. You could roll that game out, but it
- 50:57Speaker 1: seems like there's other big games that day. Is that Bama-Georgia?
- 51:00Speaker 1: USC and Oregon, Oklahoma-Georgia. My gosh. That's a good day
- 51:05Speaker 1: all of a sudden. Ole Miss at Florida. Oh, that's
- 51:07Speaker 1: September 26th. That's the number one, number two day. Iowa
- 51:12Speaker 1: at Michigan. I don't know if that'll be worth it.
- 51:15Speaker 1: That's a really good game. Iowa, Michigan did not fire
- 51:17Speaker 1: me up like the rest of the team. By the way,
- 51:18Speaker 1: all the AP voters who will climb out on the
- 51:20Speaker 1: limb with LSU today, LSU more rushing yards against Clemson,
- 51:24Speaker 1: 309 yards than they had against Ole Miss, Texas A & M, Alabama,
- 51:27Speaker 1: and Oklahoma combined last year.
- 51:29Speaker 3: Wow.
- 51:30Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 51:30Speaker 1: That's pretty amazing. Yeah. 261 combined in those four games
- 51:35Speaker 1: in the SEC. Uh, they ran out there and, uh,
- 51:38Speaker 1: ran the football against Clemson. We'll jump into some Alabama-Auburn
- 51:42Speaker 1: discussion and a lot more college football when we come back.
- 51:46Speaker 1: Brock Huard joins the show coming up in hour number four,
- 51:51Speaker 1: the second hour of our local next round show. Thanks
- 51:55Speaker 1: for being with us today on the next round presented
- 51:57Speaker 1: by Hard Rock Bets right here on Sporting States.
