- Lucas: Hey everyone, welcome back to Learn Cantonese with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 138! Can you believe it? Lucas: I know, we've come a long way. Last time we talked about big and small, remember? Luna: Yeah, 好大 and 好細. But today, we're going to the clinic again, right? Lucas: Right. We covered symptoms before, like 我頭痛 and 我發燒. But today we're focusing on describing pain more specifically. Luna: Oh, that's useful. So if I have a headache, I can say 我頭痛. But what if my tooth hurts? Lucas: Great question. Let's start with the basic pattern. In Cantonese, you say 'my body part hurts' by putting 痛 at the end. So 頭 is head, 頭痛 is headache. Luna: So 我頭痛 means 'I have a headache.' Can you say it slowly? Lucas: Sure. 我頭痛. 我...頭...痛. Luna: 我頭痛. How was that? Lucas: Perfect. Now, for tooth, it's 牙. So toothache is 牙痛. Say it with me: 我牙痛. Luna: 我牙痛. That sounds a bit like 'ngaa tung'. Lucas: Exactly. What about stomach? 肚. So stomachache is 肚痛. So 我肚痛. Luna: 我肚痛. Okay, I can feel that one. What about back pain? I sit at a desk all day. Lucas: Back is 腰. So 腰痛. 我腰痛. Luna: 我腰痛. That's a good one. So if I'm at the clinic, I can point and say 呢度痛 — 'it hurts here.' Lucas: Exactly. 呢度痛 is super useful. You can point to any spot and say that. Let's practice all five phrases together. Luna: Okay, let me try them all: 我頭痛, 我牙痛, 我肚痛, 我腰痛, 呢度痛. Lucas: That was excellent, Luna. You've got them all down. Luna: I can already imagine using these. 'Doctor, 我頭痛 and 我腰痛.' Lucas: Right. And they'll ask you more questions. But these phrases will get you started. Now let's put them in a little scene. Luna: Okay, you be the doctor, I'm the patient. Lucas: Alright. 你邊度唔舒服? Luna: 我頭痛 and 我肚痛. Lucas: 好, 我幫你檢查下. Great, that worked perfectly. Luna: I love that I can actually say what's wrong now. Luna: Okay, hit me. Lucas: I have a headache. Luna: 我頭痛. Lucas: I have a stomachache. Luna: 我肚痛. Lucas: I have a toothache. Luna: 我牙痛. Lucas: It hurts here. Luna: 呢度痛. Lucas: Perfect. You're ready for the clinic. Luna: Thanks, Lucas. And thanks to all our listeners. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time. Lucas: Yeah, practice these phrases, and soon you'll be describing pain like a pro. Take care, everyone!
