- 0:57a big thank you to everyone who left some many con notes on Facebook and
- 1:02send emails regarding the recent passing of my mother in law. Really appreciated all
- 1:10your kindness and understanding. Again, thank you so much from the bottom of
- 1:15my heart. Well, we have actually too many lost episodes to go through
- 1:19of the Saint. All of the rest of the Mutual episodes of the Saint
- 1:25are missing. The Saint left Mutual after May twenty eighth of nineteen fifty and
- 1:34returned on June eleventh over NBC in the Adventures of the Saint, and this
- 1:40is where the vast majority of existing transcriptions of the Saint exist. NBC during
- 1:47this time had a great parade of mystery programs, and most of them,
- 1:51whether it's Dangerous Assignment or their reinvention of the Man called X, they're all
- 1:57in circulation, and so we are going to have a whole lot less than
- 2:05the lost episodes. So here now is the first episode of this new version
- 2:10of the Sign for NBC. The title is The Sinister State Sneeze Original Laird
- 2:16eight Again June eleventh, nineteen fifty The Adventures of the Scene, starring Vincent
- 2:39Price. The scene based on character is created by Leslie Trotters and known to
- 2:53millions from books, magazines, and motion pictures. The Robinhood of Modern Crime
- 2:58now comes to radio Holly brilliant and tell at Vincent fight the sat Excuse me?
- 3:10But is the yes you take him? I don't think so? Content
- 3:14really belongs to the bus company? Would you mind if I does anybody mind
- 3:17when Paddy Claus comes for Christmas? What I made you very pretty? And
- 3:21please do that? Oh? Thanks? But I see, go ahead.
- 3:29Yeah, you're a girl of your word. I always knee, especially on
- 3:32busses. Why I don't know. I've been a hundreds of doctors. They
- 3:37don't know. I even went to a psychoanalyst. That sounds as if it
- 3:40might have been a good idea. It wasn't. Why not After a while
- 3:45he began to sneeze too, good, Thank you you you. I rarely
- 3:52sneeze, though it's all right enough for two. The question is can do
- 3:57sneeze as cheaply as one didn't out? So you can stop right now?
- 4:01I know, because my boyfriend doesn't sneeze my tea, well perhaps if he
- 4:05practiced. His name is Breckenridge. Isn't that silly? Especially think he doesn't
- 4:10me? My name is Patty, not at all silly. And your name
- 4:13Simon, And the name of the bus is Danieve. And the name of
- 4:16the city we're in me or the city you're cuden it's Diamond Templar. Oh
- 4:23you're the stage. There's a totally unfounded rumor to that effect. But from
- 4:28what I've heard, you're not saying it all. I'm scared. We're on
- 4:32a bus. What can happen on a bus except that I didn't mean I
- 4:39was scared of you. Please get off the bus with me so that we
- 4:42can go see Breckenridge. Why he's scared too, Peggy, Please take my
- 4:46word for it. He's got nothing to be scared about. Oh, I
- 4:49didn't been scared of you. I'm well Breckonridge is a price side and that
- 4:54is a sign And he's scared. Why it's prize fight is called Benny the
- 4:58Battlers. Oh and Brecon he's afraid of Benny's the battler. No, nobody's
- 5:02afraid of Benny, not even other prize fighters. Oh, we get off
- 5:05here, Nan, Nan got okay, lady, thank you very much.
- 5:16And uh now, Peggy, what is Breckenridge afraid of? Breckenridge was in
- 5:38very nice fielding, don't you say? Did you notice all the poems in
- 5:41the lobby. Yes, Breckenridge must love Nate. Oh you guys, mister
- 5:44Breckenridge has just left town for the Upper Amazon. Breckenridge. What you're saying?
- 5:48I thought maybe it was a bill collector. Wait a minute, he
- 5:53is at bragg and Ridge. I don't need one today. Goodbye braggon Ridge.
- 5:56We are counting. It has a very fine canted humor. Simon.
- 6:01I noticed that you want to make something out of us. Reckon Ridge behind
- 6:04yourself. Sinner's going to help her? Yes, yeah, now if you
- 6:09want to help speak we're polite to him. Well, I don't mind telling
- 6:14you, mister, I'm on a spot. Why don't you stop that.
- 6:17I can't help help anyway snainth I got a boy, bennyd the Butler.
- 6:24I see Benny the Butler, one of the lousiest middle weights that ever fouled
- 6:28up up prize ring. I think I may have seen him fight once and
- 6:30knew it. If I remember correctly, he lost. That was Benny.
- 6:34Is he the spot? You're in a kind of a way. If you'll
- 6:39see my boy in a ring, then you'll know why I'm disturbed. You're
- 6:42worrying about his health. Nice, he's healthier than a horse. But there's
- 6:46something else. Saints all the big gamblers and kind of putting all that gow
- 6:50on Benny. But the night's fight at the stadium, they think he's going
- 6:54to win. This is to last. Not even a moron could think that.
- 6:59I don't know him out room, so you ain't even know, moron,
- 7:02think my boy is tangling with soldier Jones, a very fine box fighter.
- 7:08It would be an act of condescension on a soldier's pod even to let
- 7:11Benny tie his gloves from let alone fight him. So why is all heavy
- 7:15dot riding on Benny? It does be odd. Matter of fact, I'm
- 7:17betting on a soldier myself. Is that ethical? It's practical? Otherwise me
- 7:23and Benny wouldn't heat. They are two fellers who want to eat quiet Peggy.
- 7:27Anyway, is that worried me? These gamblers all betting on my boy.
- 7:30Also, the guy who was the boss of his gambling up that I
- 7:33have mainly gotten mine is a guy named mister Sweeney. Mister Sweeney. Mister
- 7:39Sweeney is a nice, quiet guy who don't look like an harmor fly,
- 7:42so he wouldn't harm no fly. But when it comes to guys who he
- 7:46is under the impression they have handed him a bad deal, then he is
- 7:48murdered. I supposing Benny the battler, don't win tonight between he could hardly
- 7:53blame you if Ben he lost the fight legitimately, mister Sweeney eat the type
- 7:57guy who was interested in what is legitimate. He likes to and bets.
- 8:00So I am on a spot. I can see that. Anybody who win't
- 8:03blank and see that. But what can you do about it? Well,
- 8:05this was my idea, Breckinridge. I mean asking Simon to come here,
- 8:09because if Simon Showdy was kind of interested in your health, Breckon Ridge,
- 8:13then maybe missus Sweeney would be afraid to do anything to you, even if
- 8:16that he loses tonight, do you say someone, well, I don't know
- 8:20what good my interest in Breckinridge's health would do him. I'm not a doctor.
- 8:22I'mon. If mister Sweeney gets really mad at Breckinridge and Benny, they
- 8:26wouldn't need any glasses. They'd be patronizing the same undertaken fight shit pung.
- 8:31But you think that Sween he might hesitate about doing anything drastic merely because I
- 8:35knew about it. I don't know, but it's possible. And why don't
- 8:39we get to lose my life? Don't be so salvish. Think of Benny
- 8:43too, all right, May and Benny's life, and I'll do what I
- 8:46can, which amounts to what Breckinridge gives Simon some tickets to the fight?
- 8:50Can you okay? Oh, thank you, but but I'm not sure I'll
- 8:54be any pretection. Don't worry, that's it. I'll do it to worrying,
- 8:56and maybe he won't do any good. But even if it doesn't,
- 9:00I want you to know that even if reckoned you're does getting murdered, don't
- 9:03say things like that. We'll still appreciated son. If you was giant through
- 9:18hexe a taxi. For a moment, I thought you were going right past
- 9:26or alone, and I felt like going right past. I don't mind getting
- 9:28friendly, just get in. Thank you. Then, as Dick Donald,
- 9:35I beg your pardon, well known traders of history, Dona dic Donald.
- 9:39You I'm not sure I know what you're talking about. The afternoon around three
- 9:43o'clock. What were you doing? Three? Why? I was riding on
- 9:46a uh? Don't stop there? You was riding on a what? Buh?
- 9:50Yeah? What's the matter? Somebody suddenly dropped that? Lets you stock
- 9:54in a bus company? No? And what's the idea riding a bus that
- 9:56I had in the cab? Iqual? If I had taken a cab,
- 9:58I wouldn't have met peg A fine reason she was following me, Louis.
- 10:01I made it easier for her by getting on a bus. There's so much
- 10:05roomier than cabs. All right, I forgive thank you Louis perfectly. All
- 10:11right? Where do you want to go? The stadium? Go on a
- 10:16place to take her? Kyle, I'm not taking a girl there. I'm
- 10:20going to see the fight, which reminds me, Louis, I've got an
- 10:22extra ticket. Would you like to join me? Who's fighting. Well,
- 10:24the main event is Soldier Jones versus Benny the baffler. That you call a
- 10:28fight. Benny's gonna get minors, not Benny Breckenriy. Huh, it might
- 10:33be fun, Louie, come on with me. Oh listen, a fight
- 10:35like that you could smell from new Joys. But all right, thanks Louis.
- 10:39I'll mention it and in the future stay off of buses. Yes,
- 10:41mother, Benny's dressing room must be up ahead. What are we going to
- 10:58do? Sympathize with him before he goes noring? Get did luck and it's
- 11:01the templar he'll need it. That's tiggy. Huh. He wait a minute,
- 11:05the door open, Benny, don't dope. We got all our doe
- 11:09riding on Soldier Jones Breckinridge. I've been thinking with what what's gonna happen to
- 11:15my career? If I keep on getting laid in the rizon all the time,
- 11:18you can always go back to your truck. Besides, the soldier has
- 11:22been making derogatory remarks you see's your night for credit, derogatory remarks about you
- 11:28personal a professional, derogatory remarks about I s think so when I get in
- 11:35that ring tonight. I am going to bat his ears off. Benny,
- 11:37listen to me. First, if you hit him, he is liable to
- 11:41get mad at you and maybe kid you. Eh. Second, if they
- 11:46should happen to pass a miracle and you should lay him away, we all
- 11:48lose that though, Benny, we gotta die for him. I don't die
- 11:54for that bum. Benny, don't answer me too quick. Think you know
- 11:56what's happening to the price of fresh meat? Come on, it sounds like
- 12:01a prolimits over. Let's go, Lily, no canda visit now. We
- 12:03better get to our seat. Unless I see you've been at the Battle of
- 12:05a happy ear Ol Street. He's in quite a spot, though, Unless
- 12:09Soldier Joanes killed him inside the ring, Sweeney is likely to kill him outside.
- 12:24Well, here it goes. We got nice seat. Anybody bleeds in
- 12:28the ring, we got dry. Queens, you're thinking of a horse ring
- 12:33looking at Benny the battle of how wrong am I? He runs night?
- 12:35Yes, he does seem to have gone on a bicycle, but how long
- 12:39can he stay on a bicycle? We're not falling off on his ears?
- 12:48Go forth, run and then he's still on that bicycle and the crowd doesn't
- 12:52like it. You must be under the impression that back way the box fighter
- 12:56is to run away, and for him it's probably the safest way. The
- 13:01soldiers catching up with him. Benny's wind is failing. Oh, the soldier
- 13:05just told it in a very pretty left that Benny's bread last. Yeah,
- 13:07Oh and a right, oh and another right. Well, Benny, the
- 13:09backlambits the temper a slack cloud on his flat seed. The bell sure saved
- 13:16him that time didn't save him, merely postpone the execution fifth round, and
- 13:26I got an idea, Benny are gonna be around for the sixth. Yeah,
- 13:28Benny seems to be looking for the nearest policeman. He's sort of wandering
- 13:31around. The soldier is like, hey, I'm goingeve that Benny just threw
- 13:35a punt of the soldier set him so yeah, but hey, the soldier
- 13:41has just throwing down. Oh this Benny lenders putting the crack of defective that
- 13:46show. Benny, and I say this in some blankness of mine, has
- 13:56just one Yeah, with the best invisible which I haven't seen. Must have
- 14:01been quite a punch. Soldier haven't moved yet. They're working over and in
- 14:05the ring come on, I think we'd better visit where we're going into the
- 14:09ring. Up we go. Okay, so you see what I've just seen?
- 14:13I beg your pardon. Breackon bright boy knocking off the soldier. I
- 14:16seen it myself, but I don't believe it yet. Hey, hey,
- 14:20I knock Tom out. Maybe I could watch my Korea with one punch.
- 14:24I am right on the campage. He ain't even got up yet. I
- 14:28think I want to take a look at him. His handlers still working over
- 14:31It's very horizontal, yes, Louis. Furthermore, I suspect he needs a
- 14:35doctor. A doctor you got a yen for medical attention or something? Correction.
- 14:39What he needs right now is a death certificate? Are pretty mop seen
- 14:56back there on that rings Ultra Jones dead, a doctor working on him?
- 14:58Cops holo. Yeah. The only thing I don't get it. I'm afraid
- 15:01I did the odor when I've been over the soldier. Oh, come on,
- 15:05in fellows, Peggy, I'm shining. Is everything wonderful? Well,
- 15:11maybe it isn't so wonderful the way you were soldiers dead? You mean in
- 15:16the clive I knocked him off. No, he didn't die as a result
- 15:20of a blow, Benny? What did he die of? Old? H
- 15:22wear Benny's gloves, the ones he wore in the ring? Oh? The
- 15:24hell? Here where I put him? Oh? Thank? What's up?
- 15:28What's the matter of? Say? Some smells funny? See? Come here,
- 15:31take a sniff of those gloves. Not too deep a sniff. Okay,
- 15:37I don't. I don't smell nothing. Maybe like a hospital. Like
- 15:39a hospital is very good. Which you're smelling is ether? Hey? Wait
- 15:43a minute, do you mean there was ether on Benny's gloves. The blow
- 15:46which apparently knocked the soldier out with a feever one barely grazed the soldier's mouth
- 15:52and nose. Therefore, what knocked him down wasn't the blow but the ether.
- 15:54He in heel, Hey are you trying to say? I put each
- 15:58on my gloves so i'd not the SOLDI out that for the moment saying anything
- 16:00about how the ether got there, Benny, What I am saying is that
- 16:03Sojah Jones got a strong dose of ether into him. Add that to the
- 16:07fact that he was strenuously exerting himself, that his heart was under his train,
- 16:11and you're totally simple. He died of ether. There's ether on your
- 16:15gloves. Benny. Hey, mister Breco, Benny, I just keep your
- 16:18mouth shut here, even to the police. Well, Benny, he looks
- 16:37so sad. When the cops put the arm on it. If they can
- 16:38make their case stick, you'll look sadder. Still, Breclick didn't look so
- 16:42happy in either. It's not hard to understand one way or another. Beggy,
- 16:47she was sneezing like a locomotive with a hiccup, and saved her from
- 16:49answering question. Yeah, all of which doesn't add up to the strange fact
- 16:52that you've instructed me to drive you for the happy hours night Glove. It
- 16:56happens to belong to a man named mister Sweeney loi, the head of the
- 17:00syndicate which bet on Benny in Tonight's Pride. Oh, mister Sweeney ought to
- 17:03be a very happy man. We're not going to watch him rejoice. What
- 17:07are we going to watch him do? Pay off? Perhaps I have been
- 17:25in classya dumps without even leaving my house. The club here is a friend
- 17:29for Queeney's real business. I imagine Stee the man at the door totus his
- 17:33office was behind the band stand. Oh, Breckon Ridge, Oh hi sight
- 17:41well, well, Breconridge counting money in large and luscious quantities, and in
- 17:47Sweeney's office. Well this is here, you mean it's nothing. It's a
- 17:51lot of nothing. I thought you were afraid of Sweeney. Well why should
- 17:56I be afraid of him? Benny won, then he may have won a
- 17:57non stop trip to the chair. Wreen, you give you that money.
- 18:02That is a private affair and the three step no respect for privacy on occasion
- 18:07recognage. If you would bet on Soljier Jones as you claimed you did,
- 18:10you'd have lost. You wouldn't have acquired any money or a suspicion of murder.
- 18:14They don't tried it. I suppose you didn't really bet on Jones to
- 18:17win. That would make you quite a likely candidate for the wired chair,
- 18:21or you won't sun you out at all. I'm saying it as bluntly as
- 18:23I can. You could have smeared that ether over Benny's gloves. Did say
- 18:30that? No? It possibly didn't realize it either. I ain't a chill
- 18:33he put the ether on Benny's gloves. Wasn't necessarily intending to kill him.
- 18:37Ether is now was fatal, but the circumstances made it so. There's a
- 18:41little too much either for one thing for another, somebody failed to allow for
- 18:44the effect of strenuous action on the soldier's heart. Look, thank you,
- 18:48you're just raising a breeze. I'm on the clear. Yeah. Would you
- 18:51like to try saying that again and making it sound convincing? This I don't
- 18:55have to take anything from you want to say, I'd have to shout either.
- 18:59You're trying to hide guilt here. I'm getting a Can I be of
- 19:03any help? Hello, mister Swainey, we've already met amused him a temper.
- 19:07I'm Louis letting him meet you both. You're saying breck and rage.
- 19:10I would say, I'm getting out of here and quick. We'll call it
- 19:14terribly upset or frightened whatever else. I wouldn't know you were out of the
- 19:18fight tonight, So I was you were one of the soldiers handled? True,
- 19:22I find an amusing to act in that capacity from time to time.
- 19:25Did you get any last tonight? I'm afraid not course, soldier. It's
- 19:30lucky he didn't bet on him, isn't it? What makes you think I
- 19:33didn't? A little bird told me. Little birds are so delicate. They
- 19:37really should be more careful. And I'll be sure to tell them that the
- 19:40next time we meet. How does it happen that you bet on Denny?
- 19:42Let's call it whimsay, Shelly, Benny didn't belong in the same ring with
- 19:45your man, but maybe the odd's interesting. We'd also put Breckenridge on the
- 19:51spotect Benny had lost. Benny didn't lose. Breckinridge therefore delivered. Let us
- 19:56say off the recon mind you that Breckinridge is delivered? Yeah, come on?
- 20:00Must you rush a ways? I don't care for the atmosphere around him.
- 20:03It's Sweeney. What's the matter with it? Like the ether on Denny's
- 20:07glove, it's mister Sweeney. It's overpowering. It's a template. I know
- 20:23you're making like a detective, but it's visiting Pegy really necessary. I dis
- 20:27assume that answer that it's bashful. It's a small house. Hey, she
- 20:33must live alone. Get the snark out of your voice. Looing either I'm
- 20:37not sure you want and you vote for me? Huh, but you see,
- 20:41Louis, Peggy may know something. Sure, only what about we better
- 20:45change the subject or ring your doorbell again? No answer? Come on,
- 20:52disappointed? No, I don't know we may still find it tonight, were
- 20:55Reckonage's apartment, possibly helping him count his money. Breckinridge and answering door about
- 21:12tonight neither. Oh, come now that we give the lad a chance to
- 21:15hide the money? Yes, unless he took it on the lamp. And
- 21:19on earth did you pick up that expression the radio? I didn't think word.
- 21:25Try another apartment. Get into the building anyway, Thank you, somebody
- 21:32the apartment is down the corridor. Yeah, that's convenience. I hate climbing
- 21:34stairs making forced conversations. I've been shot. I've been shot inside the apartment.
- 21:44Open him behind. That does breckon Ridge not very pretty at the moment
- 21:52that bullet did a jump shot in the temple revolver in his right hand,
- 21:57so wish I that's what it's supposed to be. His hands loose on the
- 22:00gun. I think that's the way it always is. After all, the
- 22:03guy is dead. Yeah, but nine turns out of ten there's a parismatic
- 22:07reaction. At the moment of death. The hand grips the gun more tightly
- 22:10instead of loosening, which means there must be a back door to this apartment
- 22:15off the kitchen problem. Yep, there it is, which explains that the
- 22:21guy's gun and gripping the gun side. So there has to be a back
- 22:22door to your pot door. The architects ought to hear about it. The
- 22:26murderer had to get out before we got in, and the murderer was here
- 22:29a moment ago. I don't get the fight. Why does the bother making
- 22:32it look like a sewer side? Look cleuly, we were supposed to think
- 22:33Breckenridge had been responsible for the soldier's death, became conscience stricken because he hadn't
- 22:38intend to kill the soldier and shot himself. But his hand was loose on
- 22:42the gun. It's just logic, all right, So logic and you went
- 22:45to school together. Breckenridge was a crook. Also, I suspect a black
- 22:49man of it. It almost saves him right, like I always say time
- 22:55about his hoist with his own patad. Hey, what is a petad?
- 23:00Derek? You've got the proper ball wrong. But you solved the king well
- 23:04for a dopha hindu, it I have? Yeah? Yeah, you said,
- 23:08well, I read that in my comic book, and that tells us
- 23:11who murdered Dojah Jones and Breckonage Oh speak for yourself. John, maybe it
- 23:15tells you, but come on, but if I know my mysteries, you're
- 23:19going to tell me not for another five minutes. I know the five minutes
- 23:36playing up, get mister templar. But maybe you could sneak in a little
- 23:38explanation now, maybe save some time later. Well, louis the problem all
- 23:42along is then who put the ether on Denny's glove? Denny Breckenridge, Peggy.
- 23:48But then you said turn about, and I knew who would really put
- 23:51the ether there? Well, never mind is dramatic force, Just just keep
- 23:55going. The person who put the ether on Denny's glove is a court.
- 23:59Yeah, I shouldn't known for a minute, fact that I thought maybe I
- 24:03was gonna find out something. But I didn't have to worry at the Hours
- 24:07nightclub. But why are we here? They don't keep corpses. You're probably
- 24:11not. Besides, you can arrest the courts. Oh but you see the
- 24:15courts looking guilty. I'm going home and beat my kids. Maybe that way
- 24:18I'll stop feeling. In Syrian, look at the joy Sist desert, of
- 24:25all the little tables covered up with their little white shrouds. Why didn't I
- 24:30shut up I've did the light showing Tweeney's office. Yeah, I wonder should
- 24:36be. So we go home, we'll knock, come in, come in
- 24:41you sounds quite friendly. Wow, well, mister Temple, good evening.
- 24:47It doesn't have any friendly game of cards with my alibi. My friends and
- 24:51I can see you alone. Mister Tweeny, very well. M had begun
- 24:53to blow me anyway, boys, get going. You've been playing cards all
- 25:02evening with him. I hope perhaps you considered it a waste of time,
- 25:04but I don't. They testified her having been here all evening. If called
- 25:10upon, they could do nothing less. But why should they be called upon
- 25:12to furnish you with an alibi? But what Breckinridge's murder? Nonsense? He
- 25:17committed suicide. How did you know? A little bird told me, the
- 25:21same one who told you about my betting on Bennick. I'm afraid that Breckinridge
- 25:26was the little bird who told me about that. He forgot to tell me
- 25:27about the murder. Though Breckinridge committed suicide, I'm not talking about Breckenridge's death.
- 25:33I'm talking about Soldier Jones. Oh, mister templar, I will readily
- 25:37admit I earned a considerable sum by his unfortunate demise. But the ether was
- 25:42on Benny's gloves, if you remember, and I was never near those gloves,
- 25:47true, all of them. Nevertheless, you are going to die for
- 25:49Jones's death. You know you're becoming unpleasant. However, you've just admitted I
- 25:55couldn't have tampered with Benny's gloves. I have, but mare I mentioned one
- 25:57word to you, turn about. All right, you've mentioned it, and
- 26:02you should be more interested because it led me to realize something. Sojia Jones
- 26:06died because there was ethersmeared all over his mouth and nose. We've all been
- 26:11assuming that the ether got there from Benny's glove. True, remember the word
- 26:14turn about, mister Sweeney the poet. The ether got onto Benny's gloves from
- 26:18Soldier Jones's face. I think the hour is late, very late for you,
- 26:23because the ether was on the soldier's face first. When Benny hit the
- 26:27soldier, he got the ether on his gloves. But it was the soldier's
- 26:30face that smearred ether on Benny's gloves, not vice versa. But how would
- 26:34the soldier get ether on his face first? From a towel used by his
- 26:38handler on him, and you were his hand in mister Sweening. Just as
- 26:41he started into the ring, you wiped his face and deposited the ether on
- 26:45his nose. His momentum carried him into the center of the ring. Then
- 26:48he took a poke at him, and that was that. It was Yeah,
- 26:52Breckinridge realized what you've done. That's why you paid him off after the
- 26:56fight. But you knew that he's black maided you for the to be your
- 27:00unpleasant life, so you murdered him. That's your guests, and you can't
- 27:03prove I got Sojiah Jones, I've got the townel. You're lying, I
- 27:07burned it. Louis will make a nice witness. Let's go chat to policemen
- 27:10about all this. No witness you're pointing, which isn't polite with a gun,
- 27:14which is insane. Yeah, very little to lose and a lot to
- 27:17gain by killing both of God, wait a minute, let's talk this over
- 27:19like chivilized. Jake. I'm sorry, I can't oblige. Therefore you shouldn't
- 27:23have bringed your head. You better get his gun. Totally a pleasure,
- 27:29and I had better take a look at the closet there. Peggy who's sneezing?
- 27:37Time? Save two? Anyway? What are you doing in that closet?
- 27:40I was, and so Peggy, so I hadn't a client it so
- 27:56maybe I could overhear a clue. I was very brave of you, Peggy.
- 28:00Well, I thought I kind of owed it to Britain Ridge. Did
- 28:03you love him very much? No, Bern he was a very friendly fellow.
- 28:07You are friendly too, Simon, also cute, and you did catch
- 28:11missus queeney. I haven't way to kiss you, Louis is Pete? Who
- 28:21you haven't knee? I kind of like this, who wants to knee?
- 28:23All right? You are you my snee? Didn't I? However, as
- 28:33Louis mentioned earlier, I am hoist by your bazard. You have been listening
- 28:45to another adventure of the Saint the robin Hood of Modern Crime, and now
- 28:51here is our star vincent Prise, Ladies and gentlemen. Our cast tonight included
- 28:56Andre Gould, Larry Dobkin, hal March, Peter Leeds, and Barney Phillips.
- 29:00This is Benson Price inviting you to join us again next week at the
- 29:04same time for another exciting adventure of the Saint. Good Night the Night script
- 29:36of the Saint was written by Louis Bitters. The music was composed and conducted
- 29:41by Ron Dexter. The Saint, based on characters created by Leslie charteris as
- 29:45a James L. Safier production and is directed by Helen Matt Linton. Price
- 29:51is soon to be seen in the Universal International Picture Curtain Call a Cactus Creek.
- 29:56All you Saints fans will be glad to know the Saint comic. Sure
- 30:00I'm saying at all news, then you're an out, Sir Doug Gourlay.
- 30:11Next Sam Sade, then Summer Symphony on MBC, Welcome back, while a
- 30:19nifty solution and a nice start over NBC. And the one thing that's interesting
- 30:25is that the character of Louis would become a recurring character on The Saint.
- 30:33And this kind of goes along with the movies where the scene would always have
- 30:37some sort of rough and tumble character as his sidekick. And Louis appears in
- 30:45several episodes throughout the rest of the season, of course, played by Lawrence
- 30:51Dopkin. All right, well, now on to some listener comments and feedback,
- 30:55and we start with Lourie, who writes be regarding episode four teen O
- 31:00one, the Saint the Case of the Blonde who Lost Her Head. I
- 31:04love this episode. Vincent Price sounded like he was laughing through a good portion
- 31:08of it, and I couldn't figure out if it was the accent of the
- 31:11butler or something else that made him giggle. I think he had a good
- 31:15deal of fun on this program, as well as in some other radio we
- 31:22Our app Extra is a Columbia Workshop episode with The Saint that you'll hear later
- 31:27on this month if you have the premium side or the app and really having
- 31:33some good times. Of course, he was in with Graucho Marx in that
- 31:37production, so comedy I guess would come kind of easy. On the other
- 31:44hand, a comment from Joel who says, Adam, I'm sorry to write
- 31:48that I'm having a hard time sticking with The Saint. The fanciful attempts at
- 31:52humor seem like the writers are working so hard to be funny that the plot
- 31:57of the story is secondary, trying to be so sophisticated and clever that the
- 32:01character comes off as cliche. I think that Pat Novak now has a rival
- 32:07for an OTR detective show that leaves me cold. One man's opinion, Well,
- 32:12thanks so much, Joe. I appreciate you always providing an honest feedback
- 32:15on how you feel about the series, and certainly not every show is for
- 32:21everyone. We also do have a comment from Joe, who writes, I've
- 32:28been listening to your program for half a year of better I really enjoy it.
- 32:31When I started listening via my phone, I downloaded a bunch of older
- 32:35episodes, not realizing how often you put new shows. So I've been playing
- 32:38catchup ever since and having a great time doing it. As of this email,
- 32:43I finished Pat Novack great stuff. I'm looking forward to catching up to
- 32:45The Saint as I really enjoy Vincent Price, but have never heard this radio
- 32:50program. Well, I hope you enjoy it when you get to it,
- 32:52Joe. All right, Well that will actually do it for today. We'll
- 32:55be back tomorrow with Crime and Peter Shane, and then next Monday join us
- 33:01for the Saint. In the meantime, send your comments to Box thirteen at
