The Blockage and The Betrayal: How a Sewer Problem Uncovered the Murder of Ghufraan in Sudan
Ghofran, a successful Sudanese cosmetologist, endured a two-year engagement with Aref, an abusive and possessive man. After she ended the relationship, Aref threatened her life and, on Ramadan 26, 2024, lured her to his home, strangled her with an iron chain, and mutilated her body with a knife. He then hid her remains in his septic tank. Aref and his sister were eventually arrested, and legal proceedings are ongoing.
