  Speaker 1: been writing. My dad takes me a copy of a

  Speaker 1: book that me and my classmates and it was so

  Speaker 1: ironic and he put me on my birthday and a

  Speaker 1: few years ago. But I have been writing poetry since

  Speaker 1: I can remember I was of college. Have loved for
• 0:39
  Speaker 1: what graceful to and maya hand too, and I just
• 0:43
  Speaker 1: loved to just give thoughts and what it is. I
• 0:46
  Speaker 1: also tech poetry literally to my children that I belonged
• 0:51
  Speaker 1: to teach them about what lovely is the product of
• 0:56
  Speaker 1: writing and learning because a lot of times a lot
• 0:59
  Speaker 1: of a take out of the curriculum that's really fast.

  Speaker 1: But I try to, you know, intrivute the children to

  Speaker 1: share your songs to When it's their birthday, I meet
• 1:10
  Speaker 1: them and I tell them right down her, right down

  Speaker 1: your song because one something and that I have the words.

  Speaker 1: I actually have a woman coming up Tritre that I'm

  Speaker 1: really I would have called for her and her food,

  Speaker 1: So I do feel like that's all bread and you know,

  Speaker 1: and I try to do a loving way and in

  Speaker 1: the way that riches other people that they can understand

  Speaker 2: Wow, that that's amazing because I too, I got to

  Speaker 2: dabble in poetry. Never realized that something that I would

  Speaker 2: be doing. Never never thought that I would be a poet,

  Speaker 2: nor author, nor doing a lot of the things that
• 2:08
  Speaker 2: I'm doing. But life, life happened, and experiences and just
• 2:14
  Speaker 2: going through a lot of the things that I went
• 2:16
  Speaker 2: through on this journey. It allowed me to be able
• 2:19
  Speaker 2: to share through words, and God opened up for me
• 2:21
  Speaker 2: to be able to become an author and doing that,
• 2:25
  Speaker 2: I was asked to do a poem. Never wrote a
• 2:28
  Speaker 2: poem before. I was just obedient that she asked me
• 2:31
  Speaker 2: to write a poem. I did a It was titled
• 2:35
  Speaker 2: The Victorious Victorious Woman, and she wanted it to be
• 2:40
  Speaker 2: around Proverbs thirty one. So I wrote that she loved it,
• 2:44
  Speaker 2: and it's just like ever since then, I have been
• 2:49
  Speaker 2: writing poetry. I think probably have about fifteen books. Never
• 2:57
  Speaker 2: thought that that that would be something that I would
• 2:59
  Speaker 2: be doing. Never thought I would be a nor be
• 3:03
  Speaker 2: on a podcast. So God is he he funny to
• 3:13
  Speaker 2: share with others.

  Speaker 1: Look like your magazine. You allow us, me and others

  Speaker 1: to share in your poetry magazine. And it was like,

  Speaker 1: I never doing something like that. I'm so honored. I

  Speaker 1: think my magazine everywhere I go on my bus, and
• 3:26
  Speaker 1: I was in this book right here, in this magazine
• 3:28
  Speaker 1: right here. Not your poetry money, you know. So you

  Speaker 1: have opened the door for because you never thought what

  Speaker 1: your purpose was gonna be, and you thought maybe it
• 3:38
  Speaker 1: was just you, but you have opened the others and
• 3:42
  Speaker 1: we appreciate you, and I thank you.

  Speaker 2: I'm just thankful to be in a place to be

  Speaker 2: trust the process and align those things to aligne because

  Speaker 1: Hard to talk about myself. I'm going on a very

  Speaker 1: shine tell you a little bit about myself. I know,
• 5:07
  Speaker 1: the mother of seven children, one minor, grandmother of three
• 5:11
  Speaker 1: and a half green and half children. Feel it just
• 5:17
  Speaker 1: talk about purpose? I want to just couldn't incorporate that
• 5:19
  Speaker 1: into everything that I do. Have to talk show, everything
• 5:23
  Speaker 1: doing show, and I have a podcast and just see
• 5:26
  Speaker 1: what I saw on the talk show. I talk about everything,
• 5:30
  Speaker 1: but I've focused a lot on domestic violence and defiles.
• 5:35
  Speaker 1: I have a survivor of the two I started writing.
• 5:40
  Speaker 1: I have eight term titles available. I have a lot
• 5:43
  Speaker 1: of strong projects, whether it features me in or on.

  Speaker 1: At least fifteen magazines and publications like go are two
• 5:51
  Speaker 1: anthologies want to come out in September. It's the writing.

  Speaker 1: It originally started when I was probably about six fifty
• 6:00
  Speaker 1: three now, my brother, my parents and got separating, and
• 6:04
  Speaker 1: whoos were tough, like tough. We believed that it's a
• 6:08
  Speaker 1: really bad neighborhood. I started fighting, had never had a
• 6:11
  Speaker 1: fight before neighbors the bathroom. My brother he heard a
• 6:16
  Speaker 1: lot of fight that I had in school that day,
• 6:19
  Speaker 1: and so we getting me a journal. I want you
• 6:21
  Speaker 1: to take this journal where everything go and everything that
• 6:26
  Speaker 1: you put here on this paper is between you, this
• 6:30
  Speaker 1: pin and the sheep. And so I started generally at
• 6:34
  Speaker 1: that time at fifty three, your journals. And I think
• 6:39
  Speaker 1: that the writing has pushed me a long way. When
• 6:43
  Speaker 1: I was in the violent relationship, I was still journally
• 6:47
  Speaker 1: more than ever, and the writing just put me right
• 6:53
  Speaker 1: into the right in front of people talking about domestic
• 6:57
  Speaker 1: wizers and echolist and I think of the echoless relationship, it's.

  Speaker 3: Just it just people.

  Speaker 4: And I love that.

  Speaker 1: My skill, my calling is to fire people and to
• 7:17
  Speaker 1: call the people openly about what I.

  Speaker 2: Wow. I see that we have something in common. I

  Speaker 2: am also a survivor of domestic violence. This year will

  Speaker 2: be May seven, six will be eleven years and I'm

  Speaker 2: grateful that I am able to share that story too.

  Speaker 2: earlier for those that may not know what those questions are.

  Speaker 2: Chiming in those questions that I asked earlier was what's

  Speaker 2: one experience in your life that felt painful in the moment,

  Speaker 2: but looking back you can now see that it was
• 8:35
  Speaker 2: necessary for your growth? The second question is how has

  Speaker 2: your personal journey twist, turns and all shape you into
• 8:44
  Speaker 2: the person you are today. So I'm going to open
• 8:48
  Speaker 2: up the floor and see who would like to on
• 8:51
  Speaker 2: that first question, What's one experience in your life that
• 8:56
  Speaker 2: felt painful in the moment, but looking back you now
• 9:00
  Speaker 2: see that it was necessary for your growth? Who want
• 9:05
  Speaker 2: to chime in first?

  Speaker 4: I think got hurt.
• 9:12
  Speaker 1: That's so I think for me. For me, the most
• 9:20
  Speaker 1: painful experience that I had was with my last nay ask.
• 9:27
  Speaker 1: I gotta needed to send that I was I was diable.

  Speaker 1: I was in a wheel chair and on the HOSGAL
• 9:34
  Speaker 1: for seven years and he had to take care of me,
• 9:38
  Speaker 1: and then one thing to feel like, I don't want
• 9:40
  Speaker 1: to take care of you anymore. He wanted to go
• 9:43
  Speaker 1: to work. He left our cars repole. I was in
• 9:47
  Speaker 1: a situation that I was mentally, emotionally and financially appeasednother
• 9:56
  Speaker 1: typical never got typical. So that's why I never looked
• 10:00
  Speaker 1: said it as beauty. But when this man decided not
• 10:05
  Speaker 1: to help me anymore, he told me to my face,
• 10:08
  Speaker 1: I want to leave you. I was with the hospital,
• 10:11
  Speaker 1: you know, with songs playing life and something in my
• 10:14
  Speaker 1: mouth and took out an infection, and I was just like,
• 10:18
  Speaker 1: you tell your life you want to leave her while
• 10:20
  Speaker 1: she's in the house for her life. I had to
• 10:24
  Speaker 1: at that moment fail like I got to do something
• 10:27
  Speaker 1: about this, and I told all I want to commem
• 10:31
  Speaker 1: I don't want to die being donated for complications and badating.
• 10:35
  Speaker 1: I don't want to asude me in over Bay, I
• 10:37
  Speaker 1: don't want to die being on this occygen and helping
• 10:42
  Speaker 1: and so that their moment changed my life. I had
• 10:46
  Speaker 1: to change my mind at place. I had to do
• 10:49
  Speaker 1: my relationship back to God, you know, be cooler to
• 10:53
  Speaker 1: him and being he guided me. You know, I want
• 10:56
  Speaker 1: to grove with details because he guided me and to
• 10:59
  Speaker 1: work with. I was well over four hundred but right
• 11:02
  Speaker 1: now that has got me down under three hundred pounds.
• 11:06
  Speaker 1: I am no longer on hospital, kind of no longer
• 11:08
  Speaker 1: interviewel chair. Matter of fact, I'm met with now. I
• 11:12
  Speaker 1: just stepped outside in my car so that I can
• 11:14
  Speaker 1: see this interview because it was next consented for me
• 11:20
  Speaker 1: to go through. The food is through so that I
• 11:23
  Speaker 1: can help doing somebody else, even it's just my wave
• 11:27
  Speaker 1: block journey. I haven't no idea of how many lives
• 11:30
  Speaker 1: we're gonna be touched by watching the video as I
• 11:34
  Speaker 1: self explore and learn more about tea shows and my
• 11:39
  Speaker 1: journey that I was taking in my knaw journey, and
• 11:42
  Speaker 1: I feel people on the tap. I want to be,
• 11:44
  Speaker 1: but I'm not realizing to be from miss believe my
• 11:48
  Speaker 1: feels not kill radic alive now blown in that pain
• 11:54
  Speaker 1: and from that pain, and then I can understand what
• 11:57
  Speaker 1: other women are going through and what they're talking about,
• 12:00
  Speaker 1: you know, because a lot of us are shamed and
• 12:03
  Speaker 1: you don't see. And this is the first time publicly
• 12:06
  Speaker 1: that I've said this. My family you know and close,
• 12:10
  Speaker 1: but I've really seen out now because I didn't want
• 12:12
  Speaker 1: him to do understand or shame or whatever. You know,
• 12:17
  Speaker 1: you're trying to protect him. No, I have to protect you.
• 12:21
  Speaker 1: I see if I've seen this tea, now you know
• 12:24
  Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So this is really I really wanted
• 12:27
  Speaker 1: to tie me in on this because it wasn't necessarily
• 12:31
  Speaker 1: and sometimes when we exercised why me or and I
• 12:34
  Speaker 1: been asking that reason when I was just saved, I'm like,
• 12:36
  Speaker 1: I serve you, I serve your people. Why am I
• 12:39
  Speaker 1: going through this? And if I said you have to
• 12:42
  Speaker 1: trust me, you have to trust me, not something everything.
• 12:46
  Speaker 1: And that was part of my humans and my journey
• 12:48
  Speaker 1: to trust God. And as I began to see him
• 12:51
  Speaker 1: take a off of you, now why it could be
• 12:54
  Speaker 1: for you, I got stronger and strong in each day
• 12:59
  Speaker 1: and I think, God, A.

  Speaker 2: Wow, that that that's powerful, That that is powerful because

  Speaker 2: I definitely have watched your journey and I've seen I've
• 13:14
  Speaker 2: seen what you have been going through. I've seen the pictures,
• 13:19
  Speaker 2: and I'm grateful, grateful for your transparency because you're letting
• 13:25
  Speaker 2: other people know that if you trust him and if
• 13:30
  Speaker 2: you're willing to put the work in, there can be transformation,
• 13:36
  Speaker 2: and you know, you you can conquer those things that
• 13:40
  Speaker 2: you you think that you know meant you no good
• 13:43
  Speaker 2: or came to harm you, because that's what we often
• 13:46
  Speaker 2: think that those sat blacks in those roadblocks, it comes
• 13:52
  Speaker 2: to hinder us when sometimes they're there to elevate us.
• 13:57
  Speaker 2: They're there to help us at stepping stones to walk
• 14:00
  Speaker 2: into our destiny, because if we did not have that setback,
• 14:04
  Speaker 2: and we did not have that detour, we may be
• 14:07
  Speaker 2: complacent and we may be stuck where we are. You know.

  Speaker 2: I hear people often say I'm glad I don't look
• 14:16
  Speaker 2: like what I've been through, but I beg to differ
• 14:18
  Speaker 2: because I'm glad I look like this because it lets
• 14:22
  Speaker 2: you know that you can go through and not have
• 14:25
  Speaker 2: to look a mess. God him, Yeah, so I don't.
• 14:29
  Speaker 2: I don't. I don't say I'm glad I don't look
• 14:31
  Speaker 2: like what I've been through because it was necessary, it
• 14:35
  Speaker 2: was necessary to get me where I am today. So
• 14:38
  Speaker 2: I take every trial, every tribulation, every every setback as
• 14:42
  Speaker 2: an opportunity to see God glorified and to see Him
• 14:47
  Speaker 2: help me to align with my destiny. So I stopped
• 14:51
  Speaker 2: giving me all that credit because he don't get no creasy,
• 14:55
  Speaker 2: he don't get no credit. So, yeah, that's sad. I

  Speaker 1: Yeah, what happened of the tragedy whatever as it being

  Speaker 1: a part of God larger for your life. I'm not

  Speaker 1: there yet. I truly am not, and I'm not gonna

  Speaker 1: sit here and you know and which you know, it's
• 15:37
  Speaker 1: my Bible versus and I am a Christian. I don't
• 15:40
  Speaker 1: thank God. You know, I spent time in the world,
• 15:44
  Speaker 1: but I'm still struggling because it wasn't you know, it's
• 15:48
  Speaker 1: just me. It wasn't me.
• 15:49
  Speaker 3: It wasn't that I was in a.
• 15:50
  Speaker 1: Coccident that I you know, I had too broken lives.

  Speaker 1: So I went to a practice. It wasn't me. It
• 15:56
  Speaker 1: was my son. It was my son. My son, and

  Speaker 1: my son did nothing to deserve this. I would rather
• 16:07
  Speaker 1: be the one in a psychiatric hospital right now instead
• 16:11
  Speaker 1: of pens. I would rather through time in prison instead
• 16:16
  Speaker 1: of pm' was twenty two years old, a person would
• 16:20
  Speaker 1: mental illness in the life of another young man. I
• 16:24
  Speaker 1: live with it. I feel responsible. And then as much
• 16:28
  Speaker 1: as I can say God has brought me through the fire,
• 16:33
  Speaker 1: I'm it was gorged. So I just gray that someday,
• 16:38
  Speaker 1: one day I can say what you say and he
• 16:42
  Speaker 1: liberated from that. But I'm not there yet.
• 16:45
  Speaker 2: And he will and and I just want to share
• 16:48
  Speaker 2: a little bit of someone's testimony that I wrongfully incarcerated
• 16:53
  Speaker 2: for over thirty five years. In less than in less
• 16:58
  Speaker 2: than fifteen days, this man is getting ready to walk free.
• 17:01
  Speaker 2: He's getting ready to walk free, you know. And he's
• 17:04
  Speaker 2: had to live with being falsely and wrongfully incarcerated for
• 17:10
  Speaker 2: thirty five years. But he gets a chance to be
• 17:14
  Speaker 2: to be redeemed, and he gets a chance to come
• 17:17
  Speaker 2: back out here and to rectify what that and to
• 17:23
  Speaker 2: clear his name, and he gives a second chance. That
• 17:26
  Speaker 2: that So we can hope, and we can pray, and
• 17:29
  Speaker 2: we can believe that your baby gets a chance or
• 17:33
  Speaker 2: or something opens up. You know, just know that nothing
• 17:37
  Speaker 2: happens by accident. There's no happening stance, there's no coincident
• 17:41
  Speaker 2: that everything happens for a reason. There was a reason
• 17:44
  Speaker 2: why you were invited to be a part of this.
• 17:47
  Speaker 2: I didn't know why I was laing to even invite you.
• 17:50
  Speaker 2: But maybe there's something that he wants you to get
• 17:54
  Speaker 2: from the rest of the guests here tonight that you
• 17:56
  Speaker 2: can pull off and that one day you'll be able

  Speaker 2: to be where they are. So just keep pressing, Just

  Speaker 2: keep pressing, Just keep pressing. Know that set backs and

  Speaker 2: and and detours it is not always to hinder you.

  Speaker 2: That they're there there. There may be a bigger lesson,

  Speaker 2: I think, but we have to continue the process, and

  Speaker 2: we have to continue to go through I see some
• 18:27
  Speaker 2: of your lives. I see you interacting with your mom,

  Speaker 2: and I see the things that you're doing. Keep doing

  Speaker 2: those things. Keep on into the community like you're doing,
• 18:36
  Speaker 2: Keep doing the things that that that that that will
• 18:39
  Speaker 2: help others. Because that that you do for someone else,
• 18:43
  Speaker 2: God is gonna do it for you. He's not a
• 18:45
  Speaker 2: man that he should lie. His word is not gonna
• 18:48
  Speaker 2: return to him. Boy, you keep keeping on and watch
• 18:52
  Speaker 2: what he do for you. Sister Doors, I want you

  Speaker 2: experience in your life that has felt painful in the moment,

  Speaker 1: That's come. I was relationship and I feel like and

  Speaker 1: first I felt punished while I was there. I felt

  Speaker 1: cursed and I love asking God why, but I was
• 19:35
  Speaker 1: blaming myself and felt anyway. I felt like I had
• 19:38
  Speaker 1: done thinks about I had, but I felt like I
• 19:41
  Speaker 1: was the problem. But I was the reason and that
• 19:44
  Speaker 1: came from the being. But I was being used. I
• 19:49
  Speaker 1: was being used to inspire others. This could be a
• 19:51
  Speaker 1: lot time to get to that. Now I've been gone
• 19:55
  Speaker 1: and I want to say twenty. I mean twenty own
• 19:58
  Speaker 1: Colt for the other books. Long time ago, A long
• 20:02
  Speaker 1: time to get to this place. And it took for
• 20:04
  Speaker 1: others to kill me. Even yesterday I was talking to
• 20:08
  Speaker 1: somebody because for others to tell them that listen you
• 20:11
  Speaker 1: and fire it easy to talk to people want to hear.

  Speaker 1: And so I know that that's what my purpose is.

  Speaker 1: I don't get out is I don't question it. And

  Speaker 1: I know that I'm affecting other people and that's important
• 20:24
  Speaker 1: to me. And when I was in the situation, I
• 20:27
  Speaker 1: always wanted to help other people while I was there.

  Speaker 1: And that's plased while I was in the this place
• 20:33
  Speaker 1: and I'm like, Okay, well this is over, then I'm
• 20:35
  Speaker 1: gonna help other peoples. I had to be strong for
• 20:39
  Speaker 1: people while I was in the situation because I had children,
• 20:42
  Speaker 1: and now that the kills of our adults, and I'm
• 20:46
  Speaker 1: an adult because at the time I need to feel
• 20:48
  Speaker 1: like I feel like I still have to protect the people,
• 20:53
  Speaker 1: to be straw for other people, and I know that
• 20:56
  Speaker 1: that is my purpose.

  Speaker 1: What was done to me has hurt my heart and

  Speaker 1: people around me wonder what happened was my books now.

  Speaker 1: My book was called The Heart of Producing the Truth,

  Speaker 1: and that was the first book I ever.

  Speaker 4: Wrote, and it told of my story how I was

  Speaker 4: fighting at my poetry.
