- Jackson: Hey everyone, welcome back. My name's Jackson. That's Davis. And this is the Mic Check Podcast. Had to switch it up a little bit. The intro's getting a little repetitive, so I figured I'd, you know, change the tone. it was off the fly to kinda thing. So you like it? You l you like that one? Davis: I don't know. I think I I think I got grown old to the or grown custom to the old Jackson: Had it down. I mean, considering like the first episode we ever filmed, I like filmed the intro ten times 'cause I didn't know what to say, but started get the hang out of it. But how's Davis: Yeah. Jackson: it going? How you doing? Davis: Good, as usual. I guess last pod we said that it would be a good weekend for Auburn fans because we got to watch a lot of good football and we wouldn't lose the week. Well, we got to watch we got to watch a lot of good football and I think we lost the bye week. Our found out today that our best player, Xavier Atkins, is suspended for the Georgia game. Not that that really matters in the outcome of that game, but I think his status on the team is up in the air. So we lost the bye week and only Auburn Jackson: You think Yeah. Davis: can do Jackson: It's I mean it's unfortunate, but like I know Golish just said it's kind of a disciplinary thing that they're trying to keep within the team, but you think suspending him for the Georgia game is kinda like I mean, they're probably not no offense, but they're Auburn's probably not gonna win that game. So you're just gonna get beat maybe by a little bit worse than you were. So like I don't know, to me it's like Davis: I get what he's trying to do. He's trying to instill a culture, but I'm I mean, I it's hard to provide a like my opinion on it when I have no idea what he did. They've kept it very under the wraps with I think they've just said f internal reasons, so I don't know what he did. He in week two he didn't start the game. I think he missed the first series for the same disciplinary reason and so whatever he got discipline for. It's obviously continued. I mean he's a he's our best player, so it would suck to see him kind of just quit, but I Jackson: Yeah, but to me it's kinda like the the Jim Harbaugh suspension a couple of years ago. Like they suspended him for the first three games against New Mexico State, Sanford, and Western Kentucky. Like it's kind of the same thing with Auburn. Like I don't think they're gonna really win the game. So if you're gonna suspend him, you may as well suspend him for the Georgia game and not like a winnable game. I think that's kind of felt the right. Davis: I agree with that. I guess I'm more so worried he just kinda quits. Jackson: Yeah. Yeah, that's true. That's true. Because it's there hasn't been a lot Davis: Takes his ball and goes home. This is what I'm a little worried about. Jackson: that's been disclosed about the whole situation. So Davis: Yeah. Jackson: we'll see. We'll see how that how that unfolds. we'll get into the Davis: Other than that, great weekend of college football. I enjoyed just sitting on my couch and not having to sulk after a Auburn loss and just got to enjoy everybody else. Jackson: Yeah, my weekend was great until Saturday night at about ten o'clock when the referee decided not to throw his flag. But we'll we'll we'll jump into that. All right, start off how we always start, winners and losers. Gonna go first. Davis: Yep. So my big winner is UCLA's playoff odds. Came off a huge win. congrats to Bob Chesney and that and that that team. So they sit at five and right now and they play Wisconsin this week. I'm gonna rattle off the rest of their schedule and you just tell me what you think. Wisconsin, Michigan State, Nevada, at Minnesota, Illinois, et Michigan, USC. Jackson: Yeah, I was actually gonna get I Davis: Yeah. Jackson: was gonna ask Millage, I thought about asking Millage to put that on the graphic. Like put a a snapshot of their remaining schedule on the graphic because it is very like Davis: Getable. Jackson: gettable. Yeah. I mean you go to Michigan, you play USC, those are gonna be tough games, but you know, there's no Ohio State on the schedule. You already took care of Oregon, there's no Indiana, so to me if you're UCLA, this is like silver lining. I mean, you you get Oregon on a Davis: Yeah. Well Jackson: down year and You're f you're undefeated through six games, so or five games, whatever it is. So Davis: Yeah. It is worth noting they did get some bad news today. Nico Imaliava is out for the season. That sucks. You know, he didn't play well against Oregon and their backup came in and actually moved the ball a little better. But that that that offense is built on the run game. it does kinda suck for for U C L A, but we'll see if they'll they're able to kinda weather that storm. Jackson: Yeah, I saw some stat that was like they were f top five in EPA per rush, but they were like a hundredth in EPA per drop back. So yes, it sucks. You get a lot of experience with Nico. he's a different style kind of quarterback, but I don't think there's gonna be a huge drop off with the backup. I mean it it is Davis: Yeah. Yeah. Jackson: what it is. They're they're a run first team and that's kinda to me when you're a run first team that opens up lanes significantly for the quarterback and makes his job a lot easier. So I'm sure down the Davis: Yeah. Jackson: road if they get into the playoffs there'll be a situation or a circumstance where the quarterback's gonna have to win the game with his arm. And Davis: Yeah. Jackson: that may be as far as they get, but still an amazing season so far for UCLA. Davis: Yep, they sit at plus one twenty odds to make the playoff, according to Bet MGM, which translates to a about a forty-five percent chance. I think I checked that right before we filmed this. I think it was even higher earlier today and yesterday, before the news of Nico being out. But regardless, if you're a UCLA fan and you and you tell them that midway through the season you'll have a forty five percent chance according to the odds makers to make the playoffs. They're taking that and running to the bank with it. Jackson: Alright, so for my winners, I'm gonna kinda group together and say them at the same time because they're kind of along the same lines. The reason why I picked these two guys. So I had Shane Beamer and Bill Belichick. These are two guys that literally last week we talked about, you know, with Beamer, we were th I said definitely like for sure he would be gone before the season's over. And I'm not fully taking that back, but I mean they go on the road. the swamp and and take care of business against Florida. Like that game was really never close. Every time you thought Florida would claw back and and fight back and get in the game, South Carolina just kept a foot on the gas and and extended the lead. So good on Shane Beamer and then Bill Belichick. We didn't really know what North Carolina was. they had the close loss to Notre Dame. That game was close until late in the game where Notre Dame ended up kind of opening things up. But I wasn't really sure what to think about North Carolina, but going on the road to pit, getting the win against the undefeated pit team is says a lot about their team and and Bill Belichick. I feel like he's kinda shifting things in that program and maybe things are starting to turn for them. So he's my he's my next big winner. Davis: Yeah. I feel like Shane Beamer has been on either side of this list at least like four times this season, whether it's a winner or a loser. Jackson: Yeah. Davis: Speaking of a a another person or team that has been on this list a lot and on both sides of it, Florida is my big big loser. Just what a dud, what a letdown. You know, you you dropped two games in a row. Three weeks ago you're sitting on top of the world, coming off of a big win, and I think we talked about their playoff odds. And then you drop two that you shouldn't have. And then you look at the schedule and you gotta face Texas this week and then Georgia in your next game. Just you had to have that one and couldn't get it done. It's been a a roller coaster of a season, jam packed into five weeks to say the least. Jackson: For my for my first big loser, I alluded to this earlier, SCC officiating, the referees, like You gotta do and I'll get into this when we do the recap in a sec, but it was bad. It was just really bad, specifically in the Bama game, maybe elsewhere too, but like I know you know how I feel. Auburn got hosed several times last year too. So Davis: Yeah. Jackson: I just think it's frustrating when the refs determine the outcome of a game. Not saying the game would have the outcome would have changed, but the I mean, there was still a lot of ball left to be played. And I just feel like Davis: Yeah. Jackson: they kind of left their mark on the game. It it just wasn't wasn't well officiated, so gotta be better. I don't know what to do about Davis: Yeah, and not only that, j just to kinda add on to the SEC refs, you also have the Big Ten refs who are kinda Jackson: Yeah. Davis: already under some scrutiny with that Michigan game in week one, but the Big Ten just announced that the two point conversion in the Oregon Nebraska game after the penalty should have been ran from the half yard line instead of the one and a half yard line and Oregon got stuffed but they got about a yard and and didn't in make it into the end zone. If it was from the half yard line, you know, I mean maybe they make it, but either way a refereeing mistake on their part. So it just feels like we have at least a a couple of these every week and it's unfortunate. but all that to say is it is time to make these referees full time employees. a lot of these guys Jackson: I agree. Davis: are accountants and and Jackson: Yeah. Selling insurance and managing Walmart Davis: D yeah. Jackson: on on weekdays and then they come out and you're refereeing a game that's like two rosters worth fifty million apiece. Like I mean, I just feel like we gotta get some better guys and like Davis: Yeah. Too much money in college football to settle for that. Jackson: Right, right. Davis: All right, for my next winner, I have the Big Twelve title race. before the season it seemed like Texas Tech would run away with this. And while, you know, Texas Tech hasn't been as good, I think that next crop of teams has been better than than expected. You have Utah, BYU, and Texas Tech are all unbeaten. then you have Houston, Arizona, Baylor and Oklahoma State all have one loss. So I think that this is gonna come down and be an interesting race down to the wire. some of these teams are better than we thought and I should be a fun one to watch. Jackson: Alright, for my next loser, I have Texas A and I think you know, you said Shane Beamer and Florida have been kind of flip flopping on the winner and loser side, but A and M's been in that loser spot for a while now and things are just not getting better. I saw Marston Davis: Yeah. We just tell Millage just to leave A and on the graphic Jackson: Yeah. Davis: and then we'll we'll fill it out everywhere else. Jackson: Leave it in on the graphic just switch which one which side they go on. We we Davis: Yeah. Jackson: alternate me one week and then Davis the next week. But yeah, no, i I mean it things aren't looking up for them. Like you get you lose what, thirty five to six or something against Missouri. Davis: Zugly. Jackson: No fight, no like nothing. Just nothing from the offense. it's unfortunate, but they're they're spiraling. You have the head coach coming after like message boards and and s and calling them out. So vibes are not high in in college station right now. Davis: No, they're not. All right, for my next loser, I'm gonna go with Texas. Texas gave away this game. really should have won it, and I know that we'll get into it more in the breakdown, but I just think that offense is not what it was supposed to be, not what they paid for it to be. I know that they're still in the like college football hunt and you know, their whole season's still ahead of them, but This isn't what it's supposed this isn't what it was supposed to look like. Jackson: No, it's not. And and yeah, we'll get into that in a second. I have a a question I wanna ask you about that whole situation, but we'll save it. We'll save it for the for the recap. Alright, first recap, Georgia twenty, Bama seventeen. I mentioned the refs earlier. This game was just a game between two really good teams. I hate officials got in between this, but they did. I think the outcome would have been possibly different. I'm not saying Bama would have won if the refs threw that flag, but Bama is driving down the field. leg game situation. Get a No call on a pass interference that I feel like everyone thought was clearly a pass interference. that ultimately ended the game. Another call was the targeting call they missed. but I think throwing all that aside, Gunnar Stockton had an amazing game. And Georgia's Davis: Yeah. Jackson: offensive line like is legit. I mean, those guys are freaking good. Bama's been pretty decent stop in the run, but I just feel like they were just gutting us at times. Now there was some pushback from the from the Alabama defense, but give a lot of credit to to their old line and Gunnar Stockton. Gunnar Stockton made some throws that like I don't know how they got through the holes they got through, but man, he Davis: Yeah. Well, one of was tipped and it was still per placed perfectly. Jackson: The last the last one to get the or the first down and then you know, we had the penalty on Dijon Lee that that ended it. But the f the th the third and seven conversion that they got, the last first down they got was that ball was insane. And then the ball that was tipped by Xavier Atkins and went through Xavier Brown's hand like I don't know. He was putting him in in some good spots. I know we had some Davis: So I got a little I got some stats to kind of back up what you took just talked about. And I know that we said it on the last week's episode coming into the game, we said a big key was gonna be how was how would Gunnar Stockton play when the pressure was gonna be on him, when he was gonna be forced to throw the ball. some of the stats that we referenced was that he was fifteen for thirty-two on passes that travel more than ten yards in the air. He was also the the beneficiary of the most yards after catch yards. I guess is that how you say it? in the league. So a lot of his production came from screen passes. And that was a big question mark that me and you had coming into this game. Well, he he silenced us. He silenced all doubters. so he finished with five completions of 15 or more air yards. far and away the most he's had in a single game all season, probably all career. Did really well, you know, pushing the ball downfield. He was nine of ten on third down for a hundred and four yards. Just absolutely s stepped up when it needed when Georgia needed it most. And I came away very, very, very impressed with Gunnar Stockton. Jackson: Yeah. No, Georgia's Georgia's a good football team. And I I don't want like me talking about their Fs. I'm not trying to take anything away from Georgia. they won the game. They they they played a great game. for the most part, they played a pretty clean game. You know, one thing I Davis: I I do wanna I do wanna call out something with with the the cleanness and this kinda goes into being lucky with the refs kind of favoring their side. they had four fumbles in that game. They recovered all four. Alabama had a fumble, Jackson: yeah I know. Davis: they recovered it. the ball bounces weird sometimes and all and Georgia was fortunate enough to recover all five fumbles. That's Jackson: Yeah, I mean i Davis: J w that's insane. Jackson: it I walk away, like as an Alabama fan, I walked away from that game and I was texting some friends and I just I don't feel any worse about our team, about Alabama after the game than I did before the game. I mean you mentioned they rec Georgia recovered five fumbles. Four of them were theirs and one of was Alabama's. And then you had the tip passes that were getting through the sneaky windows, the referees just, you know, weren't on Bama's side. So sometimes it's just You know, that's what it is. That's football. That's college football. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: And and sometimes it just doesn't go your way and and that on Saturday night it Yeah. Davis: That's literally what it came down to. Just sometimes fifty fifty goes one way and sometimes it goes your way five times, which it kinda did Yeah. Jackson: Yeah. Yeah, that's that's kind of what it felt like to me. I mean I and an another thing is, you know, Bama scored seventeen points. I didn't feel like the offense was that like stagnant. Like I I didn't when the game was over I wasn't thinking, man, the offense didn't look good, but Alabama only had three possessions in the second half. So Georgia was just able to run the ball, control the clock, and kinda Davis: Yeah. Jackson: milk the game in the second half. I mean, they had a field goal and two po Field goal and two punts in the second half. Bama did. So they just Davis: Yep. Yeah. Speaking of speaking of running the ball and kind of stepping up, Georgia was down its top two running backs. We mentioned on the pod last week that we were curious how Nate Frazier would be, looked it up and he was not on the injury list. I don't know if something happened pre-game. He was dressed out, but I don't think he played a snap. regardless, Georgia's R B three Dwight Phillips, really ran the ball well. finished with seventeen for one twenty. and that definitely made the difference. Jackson: Yep. I mean another Davis: Yeah. Jackson: stat look the Stockton was nine and ten on third down for a hundred and four yards. Like just not much you can Davis: Yeah. I mean Jackson: do. Davis: these these are two of the top three or four teams in the nation. Someone had to lose. yeah, I wouldn't I wouldn't hang your hat if you're a Bama fan, y'all probably see again at some point. Whether it's in Atlanta or wherever a playoff game's hosted. Jackson: Yeah. No, I agree. I I definitely think these are two of the top five teams i in the nation right now. So Davis: Yeah. Jackson: all right, we'll move on. Enough of my enough of my ranting. I'll I'll finally bury this one. All right, next game. UCLA, we talked about get the big win, seventeen fifteen against Oregon. Dylan Rayola looked like horrible. Davis: Whoa. Jackson: I mean I saw like a grap I don't even remember what the graphic was. It was basically Davis: Six of nineteen for forty three yards. That's two point three yards per attempt. That is that is one of the worst Jackson: It was some kind of chart with it's terrible. Davis: numbers I've ever seen. Jackson: Yeah, there was some chart I saw, I don't even know. It was like I'm not gonna s I don't know if it was like how good the quarterback was, but essentially is what it was. It was like, all right, here's where your quarterback ranked in terms of efficiency, and it was like a scattered, like a what do you call this thing? A scatter plot, a dot chart. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: And Dylan so it was like all the quarterbacks were in the middle and Dylan was like the very the lowest and the worst you could possibly get. Like there was no lower than that. It's kinda like our our little mic check chart thing where we had that thing all the way to the left, like That's where he was. Like you could not get worse than he was. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: and then another big thing, like dude you can't turn the ball over seven times against the right team and expect to win a game. Davis: Seven turnovers. They lost five fumbles. Just just incredibly poor performance on the offense. I do want to call out something that we said last week because I think we really hit the nail on the head with this preview. So one thing that we both said is mentioned that UCLA is first in rush in rush EPA per play. They're able to stay ahead of the change. I chains, I kinda acknowledged a early down EPA per play and then talked about their ability to sustain drives. So I said UCLA should be able to control the clock and sustain long drives to keep this close. Oregon should be on upset alert. That's a quote bar for bar. So UCLA had 39 minutes of time of possession. just insane. Insane. Just up and down running the ball. Didn't have, I mean, it wasn't even explosive plays. It was just constant. Run, run, run. forty-two percent success rate on early downs, which isn't even great, but it It helps when Oregon is one of twelve on four third down and of two on fourth down. Jackson: Yeah, one one of twelve on third down, seven turnovers and twenty minutes of time of possession is not a recipe to win the game. But the crazy part is the de like they were in the game. I don't know how you like if you just showed me the box score and covered up the like actual score, you would think this game was a blowout, but Davis: Yeah. Jackson: somehow, some way Oregon's defense kept him in it. So I guess props to them for for keeping the game close. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: Yeah. moving forward for Oregon, I guess it's not Riola, right? Like what what is the Dante Moore situation? Like when is is he coming back Davis: Yeah. Jackson: soon? 'Cause like they they need him back like now. Davis: Yeah, he was questionable coming into the game or like coming into the week. And then I think it was Tuesday or Wednesday that they rolled him out. I Jackson: They're three and two. Like it's not over for them Davis: Yeah. Jackson: yet, but if Dante Moore doesn't get back like yesterday, they're in some they're in some deep waters there. So Davis: Yeah. They have Nebraska this week, a very underrated team. We'll get into that later, but Jackson: Yeah. All right, we can move on. You got anything else? Davis: now I'm good to good to move on here. Jackson: Speaking of Nebraska, Indiana twenty, Nebraska seventeen. this game was kind of Not similar in a way, but like you look at the time of possession, Nebraska had almost forty minutes and Indiana had twenty minutes. Davis: Mm-hmm. Jackson: I think Nebraska it felt like they were gonna win this game for a long time and then Indiana just hit with a couple explosive plays and the game just, you know, ended. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: So yeah, I'll let you I'll let you get into your your Nebraska take. Davis: Yeah, I I I couldn't have been more wrong about this game. I I did not believe in Nebraska's offense, especially its ability to run the ball. I thought that they'd played weaker opponents and they proved me wrong. I do have some interesting stats that I that I like to read off. So Nebraska outgained Indiana three ninety to three twenty eight. Nebraska ran thirty seven more plays than Indiana. ninety three versus fifty six. Nebraska had twenty more minutes of time of possession. And and then so you say, so how did how did Indiana like how did they lose this this game? Indiana wasn't able to move the ball, they couldn't run the ball, they only had a thirty two percent success rate, which is seventh percentile, and they were also one of ten on third down. So so how like you just read that off and you say, What well what was the difference? Well it really came down to two big plays, two explosive plays, that got them back in the game. Josh Hoover was twelve of twenty two, two hundred and sixty-three and two touchdowns, with really most of that production coming from a seventy five yard touchdown to Nick Marsh on like a busted play, and then a forty four yard touchdown on like a it was like a third and one or fourth and one and a play action wide open. Outside of those two plays, which accounted for like forty percent of their offense, Indiana couldn't do anything. Nebraska, you solve those two play or those two plays go differently and it's a it's a completely different ball game. Jackson: Yeah. So you mentioned the big plays. Indiana had four Davis: Yeah, so Jackson: twenty plus yard plays of forty three yards, thirty-seven yards, seventy-five yards and forty-four yards. That accounted for two hundred out of the three hundred and twenty eight yards of offense. So well over half their offense came from explosive plays of twenty plus yards. So you know, it sucks if you're Nebraska. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: You shut down their you pretty much shut down their running attack. And I mean, you shut down the whole team. Like they had sixty five rush yards, there were one for ten on third down. Twenty minutes time possession, like Indiana couldn't do anything. And then like you mentioned, the the explosive just kinda poured off right there at the end of the game. and a you know, a little bit throughout the game and and was just kinda the difference in the in winning and losing. So they had him on the ropes, Davis: Yeah. Jackson: they couldn't get it done. Another like you mentioned the bar for bar thing about UCLA. One thing I said last week or week before, I d I just think Indiana missed on Josh Hoover. Like, I don't think he's good enough to win a game against Ohio State against a defense like that. Like he's not gonna make the Mendoza kind of throws that that Mendoza made last year that that, you know, eventually elevated Indiana all the way to the top and, you know, they won the title. But I just don't think Josh Hoover's that guy. I think against the teams they've played, he's been able to get it done. They've been able to scheme enough for him to where he doesn't really have to make a lot of decisions. But As you get into the season and start playing these tougher teams and going on the road and even playing a team like Nebraska, who's, you know, not in anyone's playoff projections, he he still struggled. So without that running that rushing attack, he he's just not I just don't think he's the guy, but yeah, that Davis: Yeah. Well they're not gonna be able to struggle and get away with a win. they face Ohio State this week. Jackson: Yeah. Yeah, I I'm excited to to get into that one 'cause I'm I'm I'm feeling confident, pretty strong on on one side of Davis: Yeah. All that to say I did come away impressed with Nebraska. I think I was sleeping on them a little bit. I could have been more wrong about this game. It was a seven point spread and I I said Indiana by two or three touchdowns. So wrong about that. Jackson: I was right there with you. So I will we'll take our L take our L and move forward. Alright, next game, LSU 34, Kentucky 35. Man. Big win for for Will Stein and Kentucky. They jump all the way to 15th in the AP poll, which is the highest that I can remember in a long, long time. So Davis: Yeah. Jackson: Kentucky is officially on the map. LSU is like I guess we'll get into that in a minute, but schedule's not looking good for LSU. thoughts, takeaways from the game? Davis: Yeah, so this is the second week in a row that Will Stein and Kentucky win in overtime on a two point conversion. I I don't know if you caught it, but it was interesting how how they did it. obviously they scored, could have kicked the extra point in overtime, decided to line up to go for two, lined up in a a heavy set in like 13 personnel, very condensed. Lane Kiffin called a timeout. And then Kentucky lines up in the same formation again. And I don't think that Kentucky had any intent to run a play. and then Kentucky called a timeout. So now that now Kentucky's showing two looks, heavy personnel, and the two point conversion. then they come out after the second timeout. So LSU's called one, Kentucky's called one. They come out not in thirteen, but in this is probably like twelve personnel, still in a tight formation. I think Kentucky knew that they were running man. shifted to five wide out of that tight formation. And as soon as they do that, you can just see all the linebackers that were playing man against tight ends and fullbacks have to cover them out wide. And it was just they ran a QB draw and it was parted like the Red Sea. It was it was beautiful to see. And I don't know, I just Jackson: So you know you know Minchie actually called us a number on that. I saw a a Will Stein interview and it was it wasn't a QB draw. Davis: So I saw that too and and so I Jackson: Was it was it wrong? Davis: rewatched it like multiple times and I I wasn't convinced that Will Stein wasn't just trying to deflect and give credit to Kenny Minchie. 'Cause it 'cause I saw that Jackson: Okay. Okay. Yeah. I mean he took off immediately. Davis: and then I looked and it looked like the it looked like the the receivers like immediately kind of pulled up and just started blocking. Like it didn't look like they were running routes. So I don't know. could be either one. Jackson: Yeah, I mean who k who cares, but still, I mean great play call if it was. Really gutsy Davis: Yeah. Yeah. Jackson: play call too, to run a QB draw out of empty and a in a two point conversion set. But yeah, Davis: Yeah. Jackson: I think I mean, this was the same time as Alabama game. I watched it on a side TV but didn't really get like the full, you know, viewer effect, if you will. LSU had two field goals from inside the ten yard line. Which is not very Link even like and I also Davis: Yeah. Well Jackson: saw that he punted on fourth and one from that like Davis: So I w I wanted to actually get into that, which was which was funny, because Jackson: Okay. Davis: that really caught my eye too. And I I was watching it live. I'm like, what is what? This is this is like this is definitely a go situation here. So Jackson: Yeah. Davis: LSU led twenty four twenty seven late in the fourth quarter, and LSU had fourth and one at the forty three on the LSU forty three. So I mean it's still in You're you're in you're not in plus territory, but it's still fourth and one. And the thing is, is even if you don't get it, like there's still enough time that you should get the ball back, even if Kentucky scores. The worst thing that can happen is if you punt the ball and then Kentucky scores and you don't have enough time back to even to even answer, which is exactly what happened. So Jackson: Yeah. Davis: fourth and one, they punted. Kentucky immediately went on to score. kicked a field goal as time expired and then it went into overtime and and we kinda already got through that. Jackson: Yeah. It it's just not very Kifin like. I mean for a go go go guy, all the analytics that that he uses in his in his schemes and especially his offense, it's just kinda surprising to see. But Davis: Yeah. Jackson: you get the two turnovers, y that's never that's never a recipe to win on the road. other Davis: Yeah. Jackson: than that the stats look pretty evenly. I mean LSU didn't run the ball as well as I thought they may, but yeah, the Davis: Yeah. Jackson: before this game In the preview, I kind of said like everything matches up for LSU to win and cover the the spread. But to me it was just a vibes thing and I think that's really what it was. I think Kentucky was not gonna let another opportunity slip away after you get the big win, the two big wins on the road against Texas AM and South Carolina. You get LSU coming into town and yeah, they they they were neck in neck with him the whole game and ended up getting the win. So Will Stein is is doing a damn good job in Kentucky and he has somehow got them in the top twenty five, ranked fifteenth nationally in his first season in Lexington, so things are looking up. Davis: Yeah. Yeah. And just to kind of go back real quick, we said it last week this game was gonna come down to LSU's defensive front versus Kentucky's O line. I took the side of LSU's, you know, their front and you took Kentucky correctly. Kentucky definitely won in the won in the trenches here. They finished with a ninety third percentile EPA per rush, which is the highest that LSU's given up all season by far. And then LSU's defense, which is known for, you know, led the SEC in sacks and and tackles for loss, they had a thirty-third percentile havoc rate, which is that tackles for loss, batted balls, sacks. So really, I mean, Kentucky's O line just completely neutralized LSU's front seven. Very impressive with Kentucky's run game. CJ Baxter finished with nineteen one twenty three and two. Kentucky's legit. Their O line's good. They completely re rebuilt it in the portal. I'm excited to see what what Will Stein can continue cooking. Jackson: Yeah, when your O line's good, it kinda opens up a lot of doors for you as a as a team. Like people get so fixated on your skill position guys, your quarterbacks, receivers, running backs. But if you don't have a good O line, like you're not gonna do anything. I mean, Davis: Yeah. Jackson: you're just not gonna be successful. So building around a core offensive line that's good, it's like your possibilities and and your chances are just kind of unlimited on who you can beat and and how far you can go as a team. So definitely Davis: Yeah. Yeah. Jackson: think they went about things the right way on putting money into a portal class and also you get a great quarterback in Kenny Minchie out of Notre Dame who, like we said in the preseason show, he almost won the the quarterback job there over CJ Carr. So very well put together roster for Wolstein in Kentucky. One thing I'm Davis: Yeah. And it and it wasn't just their offense, offensive line too. Their defensive line wreaked havoc as well. I mean, they Jackson: Yeah. Davis: finished with seven tackles for loss and and three sacks. So I know that L S U was able to put up numbers, but they had they had Sam Levitt kinda running for his life and they did struggle running the ball. L S U that is. Jackson: Yeah, so for LSU moving forward, I mean, it just it doesn't get any easier. You got Mississippi State this weekend, and I know there could be some Camaro Taylor injury news, but we'll just kinda have to wait and see on that. Mississippi State at Auburn, Bama, Texas, at Tennessee and at Arkansas. So things don't get any easier and I feel like we say that a lot about the SC C teams. so it's just you every week you get just gotta show up and play. I just think if you're L S U, you be at the beginning of the season and before the season started, you see this Kentucky game and you're circling that as like most most teams do. They're like, you know, I'm glad we have Kentucky on the schedule. I'm you know we lucked out and Davis: Yeah. Jackson: and and drew Kentucky, but Kentucky's not the same old Kentucky anymore. So yeah. We'll see. We'll see where Davis: Yeah. Five straight five straight ranked games for LSU coming up. Jackson: Oof, that's brutal. Davis: And you basically have to run the table if you wanna get in. Jackson: Yeah. yeah. yeah. Yeah. I agree. Davis: Yeah you have to run the table if you wanna like guaranteed. We haven't seen a three loss team that didn't get their third loss before conference finals get in. Jackson: Yeah. Yeah, I mean if if they ran the table and lost it. Davis: But I think I think we'll see a three loss team maybe, but they'd have to be the top three loss. Either way, you probably have to run the table. Jackson: Yeah. I mean they right. Texas twenty four. Oklahoma twenty-seven. So before on the preview show I and I think you too kind of both were like, I don't know how in the world Oklahoma's offense is gonna score any points on this Texas defense. Well, one way to score points is not on offense, and that's what they did. So like Davis: Yeah. They had one offensive touchdown. Jackson: Yeah, so I guess they found their their recipe. Like, dang, that is just crazy. But sure enough, defense special teams, it's part of the game. Davis: Yeah. I mean Yeah, w we we said it. We're like they don't have explosive plays. They don't like e like they've been turning the ball over so much. Even if they don't turn the ball over, can they move the ball? Well, they move the ball a little better than I expected. I mean, not really. I mean, yeah, still eighty three rushing Jackson: A little. Not really, a little bit. Davis: yards. but yeah, it definitely helps when you have a block punt in the end zone for a touchdown and then You pick off Arch Manning and return it and then you also have a the final interception is a costly one and it sets up the game winning field goal as time expires. So that's where your offense comes from. Which we knew that Oklahoma's defense was good, but it's just one of those games where if Texas just eliminates a couple of mistakes, they should win handedly, but didn't have it, didn't have it on Saturday. Jackson: Yeah. Penalties, turnovers, mistakes. I mean, Texas just kinda gave that game away, but that's part of it. That's part of football. Like, you know, you play offense, defense, special teams and and you gotta win all three, usually to win a game. So yeah, I don't I don't know what to think of Oklahoma going forward. Like I don't really think they're back. I just think if you don't turn it over against them and and have self inflicted wounds, then a good team should take care of business, but their defense is really good. Davis: Yeah. I mean their defense is good. We thought their defense was good. And we thought that their offense is bad and their offense is bad. yeah, I don't Jackson: So Davis: I don't know if I really changed my opinion on either one of these teams, even though Texas lost as a eight point favorite. Texas was I mean, I was low on Texas to begin with, so kind of I I know in the general sense people are now kind of lower on Texas. Th th this is who I thought they were. I just didn't foresee them having two costly turnovers and a blocked punt. Jackson: Yeah, so like I was low on Texas too. It's and I think it's because I'm a little bit lower on Arch Manning than the general well, not a little bit. I was a lot lower on Arch Manning than the general public. I saw a I don't know if it was on game day or if it was like in this on the pregame show before the game started. It was a blind resume of two quarterbacks with their stats side by side. And they were like eerily similar. And the two quarterbacks were Arch Manning and John Mateer. Davis: Yikes. Jackson: And I was like, whoa. We should have Davis: Yeah. Jackson: thought of that first. That's what the first thing I thought. But then I was Davis: Yeah. Jackson: like, dang, you know, he's really just been struggling. And I don't know, is it the scheme? Davis: Yeah. He's gotten worse each game. Jackson: He has, and this is what I was gonna ask you earlier. Do you think it's like a scheme thing? Like, do you think Arch Manning would thrive in a like a Miami offense or a even a Bama offense? Just one of those offenses that just I don't know, it kinda runs a little more smoothly and and the play calling is a little bit different. Like you would think that would be a Sark offense too, but they're just stalling. like, I don't know. Davis: I mean I mean Sarg I I think Sarg, the coach, I do have like some criticisms for, but I don't think that you can say that he's not a good play designer. He's been able Jackson: Right, I agree. Davis: to scheme far less talented quarterbacks into having better success. I mean the weapons around him are great. I just I mean, I just don't think Arts is that good. I d I just think that there's always been hype around him. And then he struggled last year. And people said that he got better on the back end, but really his passing numbers stayed relatively the same. It was the offense was being buoyed by his rushing numbers. and he's not even running the ball as much this year. his success rate has gone down every single game this year. it was at forty four against Ohio State, which really isn't that great. And it's gone forty-four, forty-three, thirty-seven, thirty-four. And so he's been inconsistent. And I know he had the explosive play to Cam Coleman on the first drive, but hadn't been able to throw the ball deep and he's just made some pretty costly turnovers. So I don't know. I mean, I guess the tools are there. Everybody says the tools are there. I've never seen the tools, but Jackson: Yeah. Davis: the name's there. Jackson: Yeah. I I just haven't seen it yet. To be honest, like I I didn't really see it when he was being recruited. I'm not like a a big I'm not big in recruiting, but from the few highlights I saw, I didn't really, you know, see all the hype of on why he was the number one recruit in the nation. Like, sure he Davis: Yeah. Jackson: may have been a good quarterback, but that's a I mean, number one recruit in the nation, that's a big that's a big label. but Davis: Yeah. Jackson: Yeah, they're gonna have to f they're gonna have to figure it out. Like when especially when you go against teams like Oklahoma and you can't just run the ball, run the ball, play action, like it's just not gonna work. And then you mentioned the Ohio State game and we talked about this. A lot of the the the comeback there was improv, like backyard Davis: Yeah. Jackson: footballs type stuff. It wasn't a calculated one, two, three, boom, you know, get the ball out to a to a receiver. It was a lot of running around and and and stuff like that works, but it doesn't work all the time. So Davis: Yeah. Jackson: Yeah. Ne need to see more from Arch and and Texas's offense. Th they put, you know, millions of dollars into it, so you'd think it'd be a little bit better, but they just have not been able to to get it going. Davis: Yeah. I guess last note here, didn't even realize it while watching the game, but first quarter, ten drives, nine of the ten drives from either team were three an ounce. And the o the only drive that wasn't was a one play touchdown to Cam Coleman. So the first quarter did not con consist of any drives more than three plays. Jackson: Yeah. i i I'm interested to see where these two teams go from here. I mean, Davis: Yeah. Jackson: I kinda have a feel for Oklahoma, but Texas I just I'm not sure. As the schedule's gonna get a little harder, it's it'll be interesting to see to see what they do going forward. I mean, this was my most confident play of the week. I made that Davis: Yeah. Jackson: pretty clear from the moment I we started covering this game. Texas A and six, Missouri twenty seven. Yeah, just just not a lot. Davis: I don't have a whole lot on this game, but I do wanna just read off a list real quick just to show how bad that A and offensive performance was. You ready for this? This is their Jackson: Mm. Davis: offensive performance against Missouri. Third percentile EPA per play, seventh percentile success rate, seventh percentile in yards per play, eleventh percent percentile in EPA per rush. They finished twenty two carries for for twenty yards. That's including the stats that twenty nine rushing yards was excluding the stats or the sacks, sorry. So just I mean, just atrocious. Jackson: Yeah, the offense was terrible. honestly, I guess I can we'll break this down when I get into the the or we'll talk about it more when I get into the plays of the week stuff. But I was a little impressed with AM's defensive backs. They were able to run with Missouri's receivers pretty well. Simmons was not able to get going like I thought he would. Davis: Mm mm. Jackson: but man, they ran all over the place. So and Missouri's defense, like we covered in the pregame show The strength of that defense is stopping the run, as you can see from the twenty nine rushing yards for Texas AM. And Marcel Reid has not shown he can throw the ball. So yeah, Missouri the c the cover here was one that I was was jumping all over from the get go. And I would have looked real dumb if A and would have came out and got this win. But yeah, didn't happen. So we can move on. Not not a not a whole. Davis: Yeah. Yeah. I do wanna call out Jamal Roberts. I know you mentioned the the running game. Jamal Roberts, preseason backup running back from Missouri, Maud Hardy's been out. I know we've talked about that, but he went for thirty four, two twenty two and two, which puts him atop the SEC rushing leaderboard. So Jackson: Yeah. Yeah, he had a day. Davis: way to step up. Way to step up, there and then Caden Lee, Missouri's wide receiver, finished with seven ninety four and one and he also is atop the SEC leaderboard in receiving yards. So that offense is very concentrated. Jackson: Yeah, we'll we'll see a big test this week and when they travel to Oxford to play Old Miss. Alright, some other notable games. we touched on the South Carolina game. UFC gets the gets the better of Penn State in the battle of the the bad vibes game. Boise State, it's a big win for them against Fresno. That's kind of we'll get into our superlative awards, but they're definitely looking like the best G six team. any other any other games you want to touch on? Davis: Yeah. Iowa blew out Washington. they started Helensky at quarterback over Hank Brown. He played well. Ole Miss, blew out Vanderbilt, needed that game. Tennessee kind of struggled against Arkansas, which was surprising. Didn't really get to catch that game. but that doesn't bode well considering Auburn struggled against Tennessee. But yeah. Other than that, I mean the the big games kinda lived up to to the hype. There's some upsets, there's some some comebacks, some overtime games. So we really got it all this this past weekend. And then next weekend we have a probably the best weekend in college football the entire year. Jackson: Yeah, there's a big November weekend too, but next weekend definitely is first or or close second. Alright, little review on the pick six. We both go three and three. we've covered pretty much everything, so I don't think we really need to get into it to it much. We both missed on Indiana. The Bama game was a coin flip that we both missed. yeah. And then that I missed Texas and and you missed L S U. So Davis: Yeah, I technically missed Oklahoma. I switched the pick off the graphic. So technic technically based Jackson: Too hard. Davis: on the graphic I had Oklahoma, but I don't know. Did anybody did anybody hear me take them? I don't know. Depends on if the graphic is right or what I said was right. So Jackson: Alright, plays of the week, Davis: updated. Jackson: you go two and one, I go one and two. Ooh. Rough. UNLV, I'll just quickly go over my losses. UNLV is I don't know what the heck to think of them. I've taken seems like a hundred times on the play of the week and they've screwed me more often than not, and then they, you know, screw me again and get the win over North Dakota State. and then AM Missouri. Honestly, I didn't think A and M's offense would be that bad. Like I knew they were bad, but I thought they would score a little bit more than six points. So And then Missouri didn't score as much as I thought. the secondary for AM's they their speed and their ability to cover the the receivers was was pretty impressive. I mean Simmons really didn't get rolling in that game. It was it was mostly the ground game, so misread Davis: Yeah. Jackson: for me on the over, but one and two, eight and nine on the season, and we'll we'll get a turnaround this week. Davis: Yeah. And then Memphis had a big win. so hit on that. Kansas had I think they had t twenty four or twenty seven. Forgot to look that up, but I think they they had nineteen by the third quarter, so they put up the most points against Utah that Utah has given up all season. So I kinda said that weird. but yeah. And then low scoring game between Tennessee and Arkansas, so gotta win there. Jackson: Yeah, I guess my one one was one miss and a blowout, so forgot to mention that. Give myself credit for the one I got. All right, Davis, you hit the upset check again. That's your second one on the year. Good job. I missed Iowa State. Davis: Yep. Yeah. Plus three ninety South Carolina over over Florida. So that one felt good. Jackson: you're carrying that carrying the weight of the upside check here. I have not found a outright winner yet, but it's coming. It's coming. Davis: Yeah. So I think we had two on the board out of the games we could choose from. South Carolina obviously won over Florida. Cal won over Virginia Tech as well. So plus Jackson: Did they? Davis: right, didn't they? Jackson: Did Did I miss that? Yeah they did. Davis: Yeah. Cal one twenty five twenty. Jackson: Yep. Another team that I've been riding all season and when I jump off the train they they start winning, so yeah. Davis: Yeah. So I g I guess for the new people, we choose an upset every week. It's gotta be a power four team getting upset and the money line has to be plus two fifty or more. if you get the outright win, you get whatever the money line total is, that's how many points you get. So I just got three hundred and ninety points this week. And then if the upset doesn't happen then you get ten points for each point that they cover by. Jackson: Alright, so the we'll move into the mid season superlative awards. you w you wanna run through these real quick? You wanna just kinda go line by line? Davis: Yeah. so for my best team, I have Georgia. Not much d needs to be said here. They have the best resume. they have the best win. They're at the AP number one team. I don't have a whole lot to add that y'all don't already know. Jackson: Yeah, same. My best team is also Georgia. I think they have, the best win of the season going on the road to Tuscaloosa and beating Alabama. They've been dominant in every game. I think the big question before this weekend was like who have they played? Well, you know, you go on the road and get a win against Alabama. That's that's pretty impressive and it kinda backed up what they've done so far in the season. So I also have Georgia as my best team. Davis: Yeah. All right. So for my most surprising team, I have UCLA. They are sitting at five and their preseason total was six and a half. So they should should top that number here in the next two weeks. Bob Chesney has his team rolling. He's completely turned it around. they really have a identity running the ball and it's working for we covered I guess I covered this in like all the segments so far, so I won't go too much more into detail. Jackson: Yeah. And then I kind of along the same lines, Kentucky. Like nobody really saw Kentucky as as a as a serious contender in in year one. I mean, they're like pushing for a playoff chance here. So I can't believe I'm saying this, but Will Stein has Kentucky moving in the right direction and somehow in the top fifteen, possibly making the culture wall playoffs. So they're definitely my most surprising team so far this season. Davis: Yeah. And it goes hand in hand with your most disappointing team, Will Stein, coming from Oregon. Jackson: Yeah, yeah. So I don't think we need to go on too much to the disappointing team. Oregon, the title favorites, Davis calling you out on this one. That was your national championship winner. Season's not over yet, but gosh, not looking good. Not looking good for Oregon. Davis: Yeah. Yeah, we're no we're we're throwing that out the door. We we've we've moved on. We we took I took UCLA for what it's worth. I gotta give myself a little credit. All right. my most disappointing team could have been Oregon, but it was another team that I was kinda high on, Texas A and this season's been a complete disaster. I know we've talked about A and a lot this season. but they are ranked number eight going in. and they're now three and three in those wins are Missouri State, Arizona State, and Arkansas. I don't know what happened to them. Marcel Reid has taken ten steps back, forgot how to throw the ball. That O line sucks. Don't know how to block. And they have like one of the most expensive rosters in college football with nothing to show for it. Just disappointing. so I'll get into my most overrated team. So funny enough, we were actually planning to do this segment last week, and my most overrated team was a little easier. It was actually Texas. Now that they've lost, I've I guess had to go into a different direction because I think that most people have kind of come down to Texas to what I have them at now. So a little harder, but I will go all miss. And I know that that kind of goes against what you think. I know that you're pretty high on all mess, but I think that their resume continues to look worse every week. at the at the time their wins over Louisville and L S U looked good, but each of those teams have kind of taken a step back. and then their loss to Florida is only looking worse as the days go by. So I I know we kind of propped up their resume at the time. I think we're we need to start reeling it back a little bit. And then I also have a lot of question marks about their defense. they're ninety-fifth in EPA per pass allowed and a hundred and sixth in EPA per rush allowed. That's asking a lot of Trinidad Chainblace to overcome it. and then I'm also have concerns about Keywan Lacey in his I know he came back from injury, but it's a shoulder issue, and I just expect him to be kind of. be banged up all year. It's a shoulder thing. Jackson: Yeah. Davis: He didn't have surgery on it. I expect it to linger. And they're they're a different team when they're not able to run the ball and when Keywon Lacy's out. So at this moment I think that they're the most overrated team right now. Jackson: Yeah, so my most overrated team is Indiana. I touched on this earlier. I think they miss with Josh Hoover. I don't think he is a Mendoza two point where you can just kinda plug and play. I I think the turnover problems are gonna come. They're gonna come back because I think you kind of saw it last weekend, they weren't able to run the ball. And I think against some of these better teams like Ohio State. he's gonna kind of some of those problems are kinda are gonna come back. So I think they're a little bit overrated and I think that'll be that'll be a little more evident after this weekend when they when they play Ohio State. Davis: Yeah. All right. For my most underrated team, this is one I think we both had UCLA this point last week. so gonna take a little credit there. But for this week I will go with Nebraska. I know they came off the loss, but actually I'm a little more impressed with them. I still think that they're underrated. I think you take away a couple of explosive plays from Indiana and they and they come away with a win there. I'm excited to see how they look going forward. Another big game against Oregon this week. Well find out. Oregon has I know the offense has struggled for them, but another test, see if they can run the ball. Jackson: Yeah. So my most underrated team is Wake Forest. Kind of Davis: I like this pick. Jackson: kind of along with Kentucky, like Wake Forest is kind of one of the bottom dwellers in not just the ACC, but the whole NCAA. I mean, they have just not been relevant really in college football in a while and and Gio Lopez has got that offense humming. Shout out James Clemens, shout out Gio Lopez. They beat Stanford fifty-seven to three. They come off a win this past weekend against NC State on the road thirty-eight to eighteen. They beat Louisville thirty to twenty-seven, and they lost a close one to Miami at home. So they are my most underrated team. I think sky's the limit for Wake Forest. Their remaining schedule is not all that difficult. They got Cal, Virginia, Merrimack, SMU, Georgia Tech, and Duke. So if the offense continues to play like it's been playing, I think Wake Forest could be Maybe a potential dark horse to to get to to Charlotte and play Miami in the SCC championship. Davis: Yeah. I like that pick. for the group of six, I took Boise State. I'm just gonna roll with them until they prove me otherwise. they're starting Madsen Maddox at quarterback who was their starting quarterback in the college football playoff, what, two years ago with Ashton Genty. So got a lot of experience there. And then their running back Dylan Riley leads college football in Russian yards. So offense has been very good. Defense has had some question marks, but I think they can kind of get it turned around. I do think it's worth noting New Mexico. They're surprising some teams. They've emerged as a major threat behind that great defense. So I think that's a a bonus team to look out for in the G six ranks. Jackson: They've also covered in every single game they've played. Fun Davis: New Mexico. Jackson: fact. Yep. Yep. Tell Davis: To not do that. Jackson: that on Twitter. Yeah, my best G six team is also Boise State. I won't I won't go much into it. I think Dave's covered most of it. I just think, you know, until they lose, they've beaten seems like they've beaten some of the like contenders that that would be challenging them for that spot. I mean they beat Western Michigan, they took care of Fresno this past weekend, so yeah, I'll ride with with the Broncos. Alright, some some player superlative awards, Davis. Well, I guess we can both start it off with Jeremiah Smith. Davis: Yeah, you g I'll let you start it off since Jackson: Yeah. Jeremiah Smith, best offensive player in college football. I don't think anyone's arguing this. This guy's been incredible. what did Arthur Smith say? tr if he's double teamed, he's open. If he's triple teamed, he's probably still open. If he's single covered, then like you better throw him the damn ball. So that's Davis: If if he's triple teamed, he's he's probably open, but someone else is definitely open or something like that. Jackson: Yeah. Something like that. He he's incredible. Jeremiah Smith, best player in college football for me and Davis. my best defensive player, I got Colin Simmons. I just think the game against Tennessee was unreal. Five sacks in one game. he's a quarterback nightmare. I mean that guy is is good. He he's really good. So he's my best defensive player. Davis: Yeah, Colin Simmons has been amazing. he leads the nation in sacks by like one and a half compared to the next closest. I wanted to shout out Xavier Gilliam, D lineman, D tackle from Tennessee. He's been an absolute game wrecker. You know, D tackles don't typically put up like box score stats, but he has twenty-two pressures and five sacks. which are tops in from D tackles. He also has ten tackles for a loss and two force fumbles. So he's just I mean he's putting up elite numbers at a position that that that typically doesn't make their impact in the box score. Jackson: Right. Davis: yeah. You w you watch Tennessee play and he's in the backfield every play. He's also for what it's worth the top PFF rated defender in college football. Jackson: Alright, best quarterback. to no surprise for anyone that listens to the show or the podcast, my best quarterback is Trinidad Chambliss. Davis, you mentioned the defense. I think he's just gonna care of the team. Like the guy's unreal. just the way he processes plays, the way he gets spotted to his receivers. yeah, the zip he's got on the ball. I gave the Mahomes comp. I still think he reminds me a lot of Mahomes. think he's gonna be a really good NFL quarterback and I think whoever gets that guy is gonna be one lucky NFL franchise. So yeah, he's my best quarterback. Davis: All right, for my best quarterback, I'll take Darien Minsa. So through five games, fifteen touchdowns, no interceptions, only twenty-one in completions. he's tenth in the league in yards per game. And most of the time Miami's blowing out teams, so he's not even passing in the second half. I'd be interested to see what his like first half pass yards per game are. but he leads college football in completion percentage. Third in pass yards per attempt, first in success rate, first in EPA per draft by I mean I can I can just run down the list. Jackson: He that guy is Davis: All right, my best true freshman, Jesse Legree. So Jeremiah Smith is second in receiving yards and second in receiving touchdowns. He trails freshman Jesse Legree. This guy is absolutely balling. He threw the first five games of his career. So he's a freshman. Through the f or sorry, through the first six games of his career, he's put up 5-136-1, 8-242, 4-100-1, 6-109-2, 5-156-3, 10-191-3. He has almost a thousand yards through six games and twelve touchdowns as a freshman. It's this is absurd. Jackson: And we can't even pick him in our fantasy 'cause he's not power four. So it's like Davis: I know. He'd be just a a cheat code. Jackson: Yeah, that guy's good. Oregon State is also covered in every game this season, so fun fact. All right, my best true freshman is Zeke Helton. O lineman for Georgia. It's kinda fresh fresh on the top of my mind. So yeah, the guy's good. There has not been a gap in in the the talent that left for the draft last year. He stepped right in, filled right in and yeah, there there has been no change that I that I'm able to notice. So he's holding his ground in the SEC and and he's he's damn good. So yeah. The guy I held my best refreshment so far. Davis: I like it. Jackson: Dude, you won. Davis: I did win. I didn't I didn't want you to see this slide. You put up your season high, one hundred and seven points across five players, but it wasn't enough on the back of Patrick Overmeyer with forty points as a tight end. He had four touchdowns. What a game. Jackson: Yeah, that hurts. That hurts because for those of you that don't know, I get my tight ends on Chat GPT. I'm just I'm not a I'm just not a tight end guy. Like I mean, I love tight ends. I just don't know a lot about random tight ends that put up a lot of numbers. And Davis just picks the guy that I pick the next week. So he's just stealing all my guys. Gosh, but all right. Davis: It's been working. Yeah. Yeah. So big big win for me. I moved to a four and two on the season. and yeah, I'm I don't wanna jinx it, but we got a a punishment where a loser has to wear the opposing team's gear. So I I won't get ahead of my skis, but I like I like being four and two right now. Jackson: Yeah, I guess you you won already, Davis it's pretty much already over, but I guess I'll I'll play this week for fun. Davis: All right, so for those that are new, we draft a quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end, flex every week. once you draft that player, you can't draft them again all season. and then when you take a player from a team, you can't take an another player from the same team. I won last week off the back of Patrick Overmeyer with a forty bomb from the tight end. So I'll draft first and I will go Gio Lopez, quarterback, wake forest. Jackson: I was I was gonna I thought about that. I really did. I I I'm trying to wait and get in a good week where they're playing at home. But I think they're playing on the road this week, so I was Davis: All right. Who you got as your quarterback? Jackson: Alright, so for my quarterback, I'm gonna take Sam Levitt. I think the Mississippi defense is a little bit not so great against the pass. I think they'll ha look to have a big bounce back week this week. So I'll take Sam Levitt. Davis: All right, for my running back, I will take Jamal Roberts, Missouri, leads the SEC in rushing yards. Just talked about how porous Old Miss's defense is. Expect a big week out of him here. Jackson: Okay. For my running back, I'm gonna go Mark Fletcher. They play Florida State this week. I think they will get ahead in that game and kinda put things on cruise control, running the ball, so I think I think Mark Fletcher can put up some points for me. Davis: Yeah. All right. For my wide receiver pick, I will take Cam Coleman. He's been having a little bit of a disappointing year. he had a bigger week Jackson: Should have come to Bama. Davis: last week. this is the week that that if he's gonna go off, it'll be this week against Florida. Florida's defense has been atrocious, especially on that back end. So look to ha look For Texas to have a get right game here and I think that Cam Coleman will be peppered early and often. Jackson: Okay. From our receiver, I'm gonna go Lottie Brooks out of Alabama. Big news came out today that Ryan Williams would be out for the Tennessee game. He's been a pretty good it's kinda been a wide receiver by committee with with the wide receiver two at Bama between him and Rico Scott. But yeah. It's going on the road against Tennessee. A good defense. I think they'll throw the ball a lot and I think he'll look his way. Davis: So for my tight end, I don't know who you took last week, but I think I'd already taken him, so I had to go off on a limb here. And who else other than Rocky Beers? What a name. I don't even know if he has a catch this season, but I like the name. Jackson: All right. Give me Jalen Thurman out of North Carolina for my tight end. Davis: Jelani? Jackson: Jalen. J. A. L. N. Davis: Huh? This guy, Jelani? Jackson: His last name's Thurman. Davis: Yeah, Jelani Thurman. Jackson: Chat CPT's wrong. Yeah, gimme g Thurman, whatever his first name is. Yeah. Davis: All right. at my flex I will take Oklahoma State's running back Caleb Hawkins. rushed for one eighty and two two weeks ago against West Virginia. I think Houston's kinda susceptible on the ground, so see if he can provide some some points. All right, here you got it, flex. Jackson: All right, at flex, give me Wayne Knight, UCLA's running back. They are feeding that man. he had twenty-two carries, one three, and a touchdown against Oregon, against Maryland, he had ten carries, a hundred yards, and a touchdown. So see if he can do it again against Wisconsin. Davis: Yeah. I thought about taking him, but Wisconsin's got a good rush rush defense, so went away from it. All right, to round it out. Jackson: Newport. Davis: Quarterback Gio Lopez for Wake Forest. They play at Cal. Then I have Missouri's running back Jamal Roberts against Ole Miss. then Cam Coleman against Florida. Rocky Beers, Oklahoma's tight end versus Kentucky, and then Caleb Hawkins, Oklahoma State's running back. going up against Houston this week. Jackson: Alright, so I got Sam Levitt, quarterback at LSU playing Mississippi State. Running back is Mark Fletcher, Miami against Florida State. Wide receiver is Lottie Brooks for Bama playing at Tennessee. Flex, Jalen Jelani, excuse me. Jelani Thurman, North Carolina playing Duke. And Flex is Wayne Knight, running back, UCLA playing Wisconsin. Davis: Yeah. We put up some points last week. Look at that. One hundred seven to one hundred ten. Our next highest was ninety eight. And the week before we were in the sixties. Jackson: Yeah, and I just I'm gonna frickin' be wearing a Orange shirt, so Kinda have a good week. I'm gonna start I'm gonna start DMing these guys. Tell them tell them I need to Davis: Yeah. Jackson: step it up, but Alright, that's gonna do it for this podcast. We'll be back Wednesday or sorry, we'll be back Thursday with a mega episode. We got a lot of games we're gonna cover Thursday, so y'all tune in for that. May do a little pick six challenge with in the comment section of of this next video, so also look out for that. But all right, Davis, appreciate it as always. See you next time. Davis: Yeah. Yeah. See ya.
