- 0:57Speaker 2: To concus, All right, let's go. Feels like a Friday.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I have to remind myself that it is still just Thursday,
- 1:39Speaker 2: the eleventh. Wow Man, week is ticking by, though. We're
- 1:44Speaker 2: looking at uh, you know, you have to admit, I
- 1:47Speaker 2: slept through the storms last night, but I understand. Uh.
- 1:52Speaker 2: There was some some lightning, some thunder, some winds, and
- 1:56Speaker 2: some some pretty good rain and a couple of roads
- 1:59Speaker 2: have been washed out in Vermont. Posted up the link
- 2:04Speaker 2: this morning to that story up on the aired out page.
- 2:08Speaker 2: We're looking at spache fog this morning. Otherwise it can
- 2:12Speaker 2: be mostly cloudy, highs around eighty eight. But when that
- 2:14Speaker 2: sun breaks through this afternoon, you're gonna want to kind
- 2:17Speaker 2: of have your sunglasses on standby. You're gonna need them.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yesterday it was so humid. Looks like clouds this evening,
- 2:27Speaker 2: a little damp maybe after midnight, down about sixty six
- 2:32Speaker 2: for the low, and then Friday tomorrow looks ninety one
- 2:36Speaker 2: with partly sunny skies, and the rest of the weekend
- 2:40Speaker 2: looks great. Sunshine on Saturday eighty three degrees will be
- 2:45Speaker 2: at the ball field at Recreation Field in Montpellier catching
- 2:49Speaker 2: the Mountaineers. Can't wait kids getting free if they're wearing
- 2:54Speaker 2: a jersey. So if you have any kid who has
- 2:58Speaker 2: any jersey from any team, I don't care what sport
- 3:01Speaker 2: it is, could be hockey, doesn't doesn't matter. Bring him
- 3:04Speaker 2: Saturday to the Mountaineers game and they're gonna get in
- 3:08Speaker 2: free and they're gonna be recognized on the field. It's
- 3:10Speaker 2: gonna be fantastic. I can't wait. What was the other thing?
- 3:16Speaker 2: Birthdays today? Sonia Spaulding on the birthday list today. I
- 3:21Speaker 2: think there's a few others here, Vern Poland, Happy birthday,

- 3:54Speaker 3: I'm good hanging in there.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Dan roya guy that is born I'm raised here in something.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Fromnt born in San Juan Puerto Rico. Yes, my dad
- 4:04Speaker 3: was in the air Force.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Wow.
- 4:05Speaker 4: And then we lived in uh Washington for a little while,
- 4:08Speaker 4: but mostly raised here.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, everybody and their brother knows heugh yeah yeah yeah,
- 4:17Speaker 2: I'm serious.
- 4:18Speaker 3: I know. Yeah.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I was like Dan Roy is going to be on
- 4:21Speaker 2: the air with me front Oh my god, his brother
- 4:23Speaker 2: and sister, a lot of I mean everybody.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Yes, working in San ramont I think is yeah. You know,
- 4:29Speaker 4: you get to know a lot of people that way.
- 4:30Speaker 2: And you're up at Ato two Honta.
- 4:32Speaker 1: No.
- 4:32Speaker 4: I actually am at airport parking wash right now in Williston.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Oh wow, what a place.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been awesome. Yeah, I love it.
- 4:39Speaker 4: People Uh take people to the airport and back. They're
- 4:42Speaker 4: always happy because they're either going on vacation coming back
- 4:44Speaker 4: from vacation.
- 4:44Speaker 3: And you get to drive a bunch of cars.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Yes, so I got to drive this cool Uh never
- 4:48Speaker 4: driven a Toyota Camper from nineteen ninety nine that was
- 4:51Speaker 4: imported from Japan.
- 4:53Speaker 2: So seriously awesome.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Yeah, wow, guy dropped off He's going on to a
- 4:58Speaker 4: concert somewhere, so he left it with to park while
- 5:00Speaker 4: he goes wow on his trip. So it was like cool,
- 5:03Speaker 4: you mind if I take some pictures of it and
- 5:04Speaker 4: he's like no, go aheads.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Well, listen, man, we're gonna be talking about cars today.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Plenty at cars. Yeah, look look at these great car
- 5:12Speaker 2: clubs that are that are just coming out here. Upper
- 5:16Speaker 2: Valley Cars and Coffee yep, out of the Connecticut River Valley. Incredible. Yeah,
- 5:22Speaker 2: Tuesday or yeah, I think it was Tuesday. We had
- 5:26Speaker 2: eight oh two meets.
- 5:27Speaker 4: Yes, I've been to their shows too. Since I'm working
- 5:30Speaker 4: in Williston. I worked usually till six pm, so their
- 5:33Speaker 4: their meets usually start between I think their new times
- 5:36Speaker 4: are at six thirty, so that works awesome. And I'll
- 5:39Speaker 4: tell you it's it's a great, great show. I really
- 5:42Speaker 4: enjoyed myself there. Those people were very friendly. It was
- 5:45Speaker 4: everybody was very respectful as far as doing what they
- 5:48Speaker 4: needed to do. Yeah, Friday not doing what they needed
- 5:50Speaker 4: to do. Yeah, Friday nights, every Friday night as long
- 5:52Speaker 4: as I think last week it was canceled because of
- 5:54Speaker 4: the rain.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:55Speaker 3: And then but they gave you plenty.
- 5:56Speaker 4: Of heads up, said hey, we're you know if it's
- 5:59Speaker 4: and I think like tomorrow and it starts at six thirty,
- 6:01Speaker 4: and it's kind of weather dependent, but we'll keep an
- 6:03Speaker 4: eye on the weather and if it's I think it's
- 6:05Speaker 4: supposed to be good.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Partial.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and they're they're bringing a big thing to thunder Road.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Now yeah, I just seeing some of that.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's so awesome. Man. You safe to say
- 6:18Speaker 2: that you're a car not you're Are you a gearhead?
- 6:22Speaker 2: Or are you just a car not?
- 6:23Speaker 3: That's a car not.
- 6:24Speaker 4: I have no mechanical ability for whatsoever. So don't ask
- 6:26Speaker 4: me to fix your car please.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I think I remember you saying that the last time
- 6:29Speaker 2: you were in here. Yeah, you and I are exactly alike.
- 6:33Speaker 2: I wouldn't know a wrench if someone hit me across
- 6:36Speaker 2: the head with one. Love to drive it exactly, yeah,
- 6:40Speaker 2: love to look at it, love.
- 6:42Speaker 3: To clean it.
- 6:44Speaker 2: But yeah, making tweaks to it, somebody else is doing that.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Yeah, that's not breaks. It's not my fault.
- 6:48Speaker 2: What we're going to talk about cars and Caffeine Central
- 6:52Speaker 2: for Mount Carson Caffeine right here, and we're going to
- 6:54Speaker 2: talk about what's coming up this weekend and so much more.
- 6:58Speaker 2: But first off, what do you have for a car?
- 7:01Speaker 4: The twenty sixteen Ford Focus RS was a limited run.
- 7:06Speaker 4: They did a sixteen to eighteen. So I got the
- 7:08Speaker 4: very first model year okay, bought it brand new ten
- 7:11Speaker 4: years ago.
- 7:12Speaker 2: What'd you do to it or what did you have
- 7:14Speaker 2: done to it?
- 7:15Speaker 4: I mean, I've tinted the windows. It's pretty much stock.
- 7:19Speaker 4: I've tinted the windows, put a short throw shift kit
- 7:21Speaker 4: in it, put the IRS center caps on it. There
- 7:23Speaker 4: were some gel and lays where the RS albums were.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Looks like somebody lowered it down. No, no, no, okay,
- 7:28Speaker 2: really it's low enough with these roads. Yeah, no kidding you.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Where is this car in January, February, March, April, so.
- 7:38Speaker 4: No, from no, usually November till April. It's in my
- 7:43Speaker 4: garage buttoned up, buttoned up because of the salt.
- 7:46Speaker 2: You know.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Yeah, it would it would eat that car up. Sure, yeah,
- 7:49Speaker 3: that's you know. I had one lady the other day.
- 7:51Speaker 4: I was at Walmart and she's like walking a by
- 7:54Speaker 4: and I heard her say something. She's that's one sexy
- 7:57Speaker 4: bleep focus and I'm like, okay, thanks, So I even
- 8:00Speaker 4: have tenure and night. The other day I was at
- 8:02Speaker 4: the mall too, and I had the window down. I
- 8:03Speaker 4: heard just kids say hey, nice car, and he was
- 8:05Speaker 4: probably like thirteen years old.
- 8:06Speaker 3: With his dad.
- 8:07Speaker 4: Yeah, He's like, nice car, and I'm like thanks. He goes,
- 8:08Speaker 4: can you rev it up? Because I had already started.
- 8:10Speaker 4: I reaved it up for him. He's like, oh, that
- 8:12Speaker 4: sounds nice thing so much. So, you know, it's just
- 8:14Speaker 4: getting the luck. Still ten years later, still getting the
- 8:18Speaker 4: looks from it. But I'm not going to commit any
- 8:19Speaker 4: crimes announce because I won't get away with everybody knows me.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Yeah, right, And we won't mention what color.
- 8:27Speaker 3: It is blue nitrous blue.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I was gonna say coppalt.
- 8:31Speaker 4: Nope, nitrous blue. It's a quad code. It's got lots
- 8:34Speaker 4: of flake in it. And that's my license plate is
- 8:36Speaker 4: actually the color. But it also has the RS in
- 8:39Speaker 4: the plate, so it has the make of the car
- 8:41Speaker 4: or the name of the car on the license plate.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Anything else, any other cars for you.
- 8:45Speaker 4: I have a Toyota Corolla se Okay, it's a manual,
- 8:49Speaker 4: transmits my winter Beater twenty twenty two.
- 8:52Speaker 3: But that's a manual too, So yeah, that's good, good mileage.
- 8:55Speaker 4: For now that I'm commuting from Williamstown to Williston, so
- 8:58Speaker 4: it gets pretty decent mileage.
- 9:00Speaker 2: A couple of years ago, I bought my little girl
- 9:03Speaker 2: her first truck, seventy six Ford F one hundred. Oh yeah,
- 9:09Speaker 2: and it's beautiful. It's just beautiful. Everything's original in it.
- 9:14Speaker 2: The motor's got seventy two thousand miles on it. And
- 9:21Speaker 2: I figure, if she can drive that thing three on
- 9:26Speaker 2: the tree, everything's manual breaks, drum brakes, manual steering.
- 9:31Speaker 4: Yeah, don't parallel park, she'd take a rest in between.
- 9:37Speaker 2: I know, if she can drive that thing, literally, she
- 9:41Speaker 2: could drive anything.
- 9:43Speaker 4: Yeah, And it's too bad the manuals are going away.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Really, I know, isn't it though? Yeah, I wonder why
- 9:50Speaker 2: why is that?
- 9:51Speaker 3: That's that's too.
- 9:52Speaker 4: Bad because everything's computers now. Yeah, you know, your car
- 9:55Speaker 4: basically is a rolling computer these days. So it used
- 9:59Speaker 4: to be the manual got better fuel economy than the standard,
- 10:03Speaker 4: and then the automatics. But now everything is with a computer,
- 10:07Speaker 4: so everything mates better. So it's the field economy is better.
- 10:10Speaker 2: And I think, I don't know, still, hell of a
- 10:12Speaker 2: lot easier getting out of a snowbank. I think.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Anyway, you can't text while you're shifting. This is true.
- 10:18Speaker 2: This is true. Man, tell me about Central Vermont cars
- 10:22Speaker 2: and caffeine.
- 10:23Speaker 4: So basically it's the same group as Carson Coffee was
- 10:28Speaker 4: we just rebranded after last year because we things kind
- 10:31Speaker 4: of got shifted around where we were at cars and
- 10:33Speaker 4: Creamies for a while, and we were over in Northfield
- 10:35Speaker 4: and just didn't seem to catch on as well as
- 10:39Speaker 4: the Cars and Coffee did. So over the winter we
- 10:43Speaker 4: kind of rebranded. I got together with Thomas and Ethan
- 10:46Speaker 4: and Camilla and we all decided, hey, we need to
- 10:50Speaker 4: everybody likes that we were like the meats. Everybody's great,
- 10:54Speaker 4: So we kind of rebranded everything and this spring we
- 10:57Speaker 4: all over Messenger actually, but it was still greatmmunication was awesome.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Drew Drew Lamb as well here with us still he
- 11:03Speaker 4: started it, he did, Yeah, yep, and he kind of
- 11:06Speaker 4: passed it along to me and I kind of feel
- 11:07Speaker 4: like I kind of let it down a little bit.
- 11:09Speaker 3: But we're on the we're on the rebound. So yeah.
- 11:13Speaker 4: But yeah, we we got together over the spring and
- 11:15Speaker 4: kind of got the facts together and first meet was awesome,
- 11:19Speaker 4: even though it was a cold, kind of cloudy day.
- 11:21Speaker 2: But there was the Mother's Day, right, yeah, I think
- 11:25Speaker 2: it was.
- 11:25Speaker 3: I think it was.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Yeah. Aspen Dental.
- 11:28Speaker 4: Aspen Dental still let us use their spots and now
- 11:31Speaker 4: where instead of Sundays, we're actually doing on Saturdays unless
- 11:34Speaker 4: there's a special event like the one you mentioned coming
- 11:36Speaker 4: up this weekend at the Berlin Hilton Rehab. They're doing
- 11:39Speaker 4: the the cars and cough the cars and creamy caffeine there.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Wow, because the folks up there just love it to
- 11:47Speaker 4: see them come out and just like they can you
- 11:50Speaker 4: can hear him talking. I remember I had a car
- 11:52Speaker 4: of that color or they just they just like to
- 11:54Speaker 4: look at it.
- 11:54Speaker 3: It gets them out. It's it's just awesome.
- 11:57Speaker 4: So and again we want to get together with Bear
- 12:00Speaker 4: Gardens too, I know we talked about that, so we're
- 12:02Speaker 4: going to try to get that arranged before the end
- 12:04Speaker 4: of the year.
- 12:05Speaker 2: So I was at one a couple of years ago
- 12:08Speaker 2: at Barry Gardens and I think you and I were chatting.
- 12:11Speaker 2: I think it was Central from my Custom Classics that
- 12:14Speaker 2: did it. But man, it's like when people come out
- 12:19Speaker 2: and it doesn't matter if they're walking, or if they're
- 12:21Speaker 2: walking with a walker, or if they're in a wheelchair. Yeah, definitely,
- 12:25Speaker 2: there's something that goes on neurologically where they're reawakened when
- 12:33Speaker 2: they see these cars.
- 12:34Speaker 4: Yeah, they especially the older cars right, because they are
- 12:36Speaker 4: probably cars they used to have. You know, they didn't
- 12:38Speaker 4: have the newer cars like we do. But they like
- 12:40Speaker 4: the colors because the color some of them are retro
- 12:42Speaker 4: but they've.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Had the old car.
- 12:44Speaker 4: So like you said, it probably awakens memory for them
- 12:47Speaker 4: that yeh want to remember.
- 12:48Speaker 3: So that's great.
- 12:49Speaker 2: I had a friend there who and I might get
- 12:52Speaker 2: this wrong, but at that particular one, I think he
- 12:57Speaker 2: had a thirty six four Peyton could be and there
- 13:05Speaker 2: were a couple of people that just freaked out about that.
- 13:09Speaker 2: That was Those were the cars that were on the road. Yeah,
- 13:14Speaker 2: before World War two, way before World War two. It's amazing.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it gets them to and they get out.
- 13:20Speaker 4: You know, probably a lot of them don't sure, don't
- 13:23Speaker 4: have a lot of social you know.
- 13:24Speaker 3: I've seen them in the wheelchairs. I've seen them, so
- 13:26Speaker 3: you know.
- 13:26Speaker 4: They're not out and about. So just to get them
- 13:29Speaker 4: out for the hour or two hours they're out there, Yeah,
- 13:33Speaker 4: it's just it's great.
- 13:34Speaker 2: We do put in a little bit of a memo
- 13:38Speaker 2: here and a request to Mother Nature, hoping that she's
- 13:42Speaker 2: watching and listening this morning, please cooperate, yes, please please.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Shaking that snow globe enough.
- 13:50Speaker 4: This winter that we put up with, so we can
- 13:52Speaker 4: we can get a reward of seven some nice weekends exactly.
- 13:57Speaker 2: So usually central for month cars and caffeine is the
- 14:02Speaker 2: second Saturday of the month, correct aspendental. For the folks
- 14:07Speaker 2: that may not be familiar with the area, this is
- 14:10Speaker 2: right on route three oh two, right by Price Shopper. Yeah, yeah, okay,
- 14:15Speaker 2: So the easiest way is get off at exit seven
- 14:19Speaker 2: seven yep, head down to three to oh two, make
- 14:23Speaker 2: a right at the light, Make it right at the light.
- 14:25Speaker 2: You'll see us and you'll yeah, you can't miss it.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Starts at what time?
- 14:32Speaker 4: Nine goes nine to noon, all right, depending, so you know,
- 14:36Speaker 4: if you can get there, you know, eight thirty quarter
- 14:38Speaker 4: nine or so, get a good spot, you know, get
- 14:42Speaker 4: all set up and there's some really cool cars in there.
- 14:45Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I mean we've had people come down from
- 14:48Speaker 4: I think it was a year before last we had
- 14:50Speaker 4: somebody come down from the museum up in Saint Johnsbury
- 14:54Speaker 4: and they brought down a Honda and Evolvo. And the
- 14:57Speaker 4: Honda was one that was only available Japan. It was
- 15:00Speaker 4: I forget the name of it, but it was like
- 15:02Speaker 4: a little you remember the CRX. Yeah, So it's kind
- 15:05Speaker 4: of or the del Soul, so it was kind of
- 15:06Speaker 4: a newer version of that. And they even let some
- 15:10Speaker 4: of the guys drive it down the road. Some of
- 15:12Speaker 4: the members of the group drive the really and this
- 15:15Speaker 4: old seventies vol though that they had and they said
- 15:18Speaker 4: they had just heard about it and they wanted to
- 15:19Speaker 4: go out for a ride.
- 15:20Speaker 3: So they end up showing up. So you just never
- 15:22Speaker 3: know what's what's going to show up.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Isn't it amazing? It's like I always have this conversation
- 15:28Speaker 2: with folks, But isn't it incredible how cars back then
- 15:34Speaker 2: that there was this this mentality. It was the culture
- 15:39Speaker 2: of let's make stuff that's going to last forever, whether
- 15:46Speaker 2: it's a mixer for your kitchen, whether it's an appliance
- 15:53Speaker 2: or a car. Everything about those cars back then was
- 15:58Speaker 2: was made with such quality, simplistic. You tap on on
- 16:05Speaker 2: that trunk and you know there's some some steel there,
- 16:10Speaker 2: and it's not the cheap grade steel. It's good grade
- 16:15Speaker 2: steel now and it's thick.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Do you see the old Volvo that was down by
- 16:21Speaker 2: Central Vermont Armored thing? The other day? I went down
- 16:24Speaker 2: there and I got to show you the video that
- 16:27Speaker 2: I took uh just so cool, man. I love seeing stuff.
- 16:31Speaker 4: Like this that some guy at a new uh he
- 16:34Speaker 4: bought an older Ford I think it was back in
- 16:36Speaker 4: the sixties and we are just like admiring the body
- 16:38Speaker 4: lines on how this big body line just went down
- 16:41Speaker 4: in front, you know, the whole back of the car
- 16:43Speaker 4: and then it just disappeared into the into the quarter panel,
- 16:46Speaker 4: and you know, it's just it's neat just to look
- 16:48Speaker 4: at that kind of stuff. They just were designed, I know,
- 16:50Speaker 4: trying to figure out what why did they put this
- 16:52Speaker 4: cap on the back of this though? Right like where
- 16:54Speaker 4: this line started on the quarter panel and went down,
- 16:56Speaker 4: but they had to put a cap on it, but
- 16:58Speaker 4: probably just wasn't any way to mold it to finish it,
- 17:00Speaker 4: so they just built there was this chrome cap that
- 17:02Speaker 4: they had gone.
- 17:03Speaker 2: It's it's fascinating. And when you stop and think, dan
- 17:06Speaker 2: about what's hiding out in some of the barns in
- 17:12Speaker 2: this state, just in Vermont alone, what's hiding out in there?
- 17:17Speaker 2: What hasn't what's got dust on it? Yeah, it's an
- 17:21Speaker 2: inch thick.
- 17:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I see a lot of these, some of these cars, now,
- 17:23Speaker 4: like where do these even come from? Some of these
- 17:26Speaker 4: older cars are some guy driving around he's got a
- 17:28Speaker 4: Lincoln Mark sick Mark five, the blue and white one.
- 17:32Speaker 4: I think that was the Cardier edition or whatever it was,
- 17:34Speaker 4: But like, where did that come from? Starting and driving
- 17:36Speaker 4: around Las summer and I seen it once this year
- 17:38Speaker 4: so far. Yeah, I haven't seen him at Cars and
- 17:40Speaker 4: Coffee with it, but that'd be great if he brought it.
- 17:42Speaker 3: But it's just kind of like where did where did
- 17:44Speaker 3: that come from?
- 17:44Speaker 2: If you're just joining us, Dan Roya from Central Vermont's
- 17:50Speaker 2: Cars in Caffeine, which has been around for a couple
- 17:53Speaker 2: of years now, having a kind of a laid back
- 17:56Speaker 2: conversation here with us this morning, we're going to be
- 17:58Speaker 2: promoting a little bit more of what's happening on Sunday.
- 18:01Speaker 2: But I have to ask you. Have you been to
- 18:03Speaker 2: Brian Bolin's museum at Post Mills. He's the hot air balloonist.
- 18:11Speaker 3: I have to do that.
- 18:12Speaker 2: You got to get in there, man. The museums open
- 18:16Speaker 2: all the time. It's basically a gargantuan barn and it
- 18:20Speaker 2: is just filled with stuff and there's a lot of
- 18:25Speaker 2: old cars. You know, it was it was not long
- 18:29Speaker 2: ago I was snowshoeing through a field and there were
- 18:37Speaker 2: a bunch of old cars and I had to go
- 18:40Speaker 2: check him out, and one of them was just amazing
- 18:46Speaker 2: to see this an old Ario speedwagon. Have you seen
- 18:53Speaker 2: anything like that before? Unreal, man, Some of the stuff
- 18:59Speaker 2: that you find and some of the things that could
- 19:03Speaker 2: be preserved. I have a friend who when he was
- 19:07Speaker 2: a teenager, I think he was like thirteen. He'll be
- 19:10Speaker 2: on the air and he's been to some of these
- 19:12Speaker 2: car shows and he's going to come back on the
- 19:13Speaker 2: air with me soon. I think when he was like thirteen,
- 19:17Speaker 2: he was absolutely dead set that he was going to
- 19:22Speaker 2: find a sixty seven Beetle convertible, which I think there
- 19:28Speaker 2: were only like four thousand made in the world. And
- 19:32Speaker 2: he looked for a long time. This is a long
- 19:35Speaker 2: time ago, man, But he finally found it and it
- 19:39Speaker 2: was rotted like, had trees and bushes growing up through
- 19:45Speaker 2: the middle of it. Found it out in the middle
- 19:46Speaker 2: of a field and it was a sixty seven and
- 19:49Speaker 2: it was a convertible. And he spent an un goodly
- 19:54Speaker 2: amount of money restoring this thing and it has won
- 19:58Speaker 2: blue ribbons. Oh nice, at some of the v W shows.
- 20:02Speaker 2: There's one down in Connecticut near Burlington there. I can't
- 20:06Speaker 2: think of where it is Route four. Yeah, and it's
- 20:13Speaker 2: every year. It's a big one. But I mean when
- 20:16Speaker 2: when you when you love something that much, it's priority. Yeah,
- 20:22Speaker 2: for some of us, it's animals, for some of its
- 20:26Speaker 2: If some of us it's our homes or whatever. Maybe
- 20:29Speaker 2: a boat.
- 20:30Speaker 4: But oh you got he had a dream and he
- 20:33Speaker 4: he made it happen.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Car people, Yeah, car people are just they're nuts.
- 20:39Speaker 3: We are.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yes you are speaking of which let's talk about
- 20:44Speaker 2: Richard Scary.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Yeah, we were just talking about that was the tell
- 20:47Speaker 3: me about this now.
- 20:48Speaker 4: So as a kid, I always liked to it was
- 20:50Speaker 4: the called cars and Trucks and things that go. Like
- 20:53Speaker 4: last year I had a copy of it.
- 20:54Speaker 3: I wish I brought it.
- 20:56Speaker 4: I just bought the fiftieth anniversary edition of that book.
- 20:59Speaker 4: But at a kid, I used to take it out
- 21:01Speaker 4: of the library every time it was available and just
- 21:03Speaker 4: go through it and trace cars out of it and
- 21:06Speaker 4: just and my dad was a mechanic too, so I
- 21:09Speaker 4: think that is that's part of why the car stuff
- 21:12Speaker 4: is in my blood. But it's just you know, I've
- 21:14Speaker 4: always been I used to collect car brochures from the dealerships.
- 21:17Speaker 4: Every every fall I go around getting the new ones.
- 21:20Speaker 4: Some would be mad, some would be all right with it.
- 21:22Speaker 2: But dude, that is so awesome. Where did you find that?
- 21:27Speaker 4: The Richard scarys atieth anniversary? When I found at Barnes
- 21:31Speaker 4: and Nobles in Burlington. But it's got like some of
- 21:34Speaker 4: his earlier sketches that they put in there, and there's
- 21:36Speaker 4: a poster and all that stuff. So I actually took
- 21:38Speaker 4: my copy to the Aldrich Library and had them sleave
- 21:41Speaker 4: it for me, so they'll protect that cover because it's
- 21:44Speaker 4: real light to begin with.
- 21:45Speaker 2: So I want to show everybody what this, what this
- 21:49Speaker 2: looks like.
- 21:50Speaker 4: There's one on we just were looking up this morning.
- 21:52Speaker 4: There was one going for eight hundred and fifty dollars
- 21:55Speaker 4: right now for the book. Like, wow, yeah, that's awesome.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Kids love it. You know, there's a you search for Goldbug.
- 22:04Speaker 4: And you know when you were talking about that Beatle convertible,
- 22:06Speaker 4: that's the main characters in the car, the Pig family,
- 22:10Speaker 4: they drive a red Beetle convertible.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the the car that follows all through the
- 22:15Speaker 3: whole story.
- 22:16Speaker 2: So fascinating. And my same friend and I've I've got
- 22:22Speaker 2: his red it is red.
- 22:24Speaker 4: He's gonna have to get that book done because that's
- 22:26Speaker 4: the character in that book, is the red Beetle.
- 22:29Speaker 2: I wonder if he he may already have it. I'm
- 22:32Speaker 2: gonna find I'm gonna find out that. I'm gonna find
- 22:34Speaker 2: out as soon as we get off the air.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Because he's gonna need that, because I'm.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Hoping he's got he's got a twenty eight Ford pickup.
- 22:41Speaker 2: He's got, uh, he's got this beetle. He's got so
- 22:45Speaker 2: many but in a couple of old old Fords Model a's,
- 22:50Speaker 2: and he joins all the Model A clubs and he
- 22:53Speaker 2: rebuilds him in Nicole, the whole nine yards he just got.
- 22:59Speaker 2: I think it's a ninety four Lotus.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Oh yeah, nice? Is it in a spree?
- 23:11Speaker 2: It's very sporty, so it's got to be like a wedge. Yes, yes,
- 23:19Speaker 2: I think.
- 23:21Speaker 3: His butt is.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Like eight inches off of the pavement. I mean it's ridiculous.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, try and get out of it.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Right. I got in it and it took me fifteen
- 23:33Speaker 2: minutes to get out. Yeah right, I needed a hoire lift. Yeah.
- 23:36Speaker 2: I mean, and it's the seats are all everything's carbon fiber.
- 23:40Speaker 2: You're there's no cushion there on those seats. You're sitting
- 23:43Speaker 2: on something. This is not made for road trips.
- 23:48Speaker 3: My husband hates my seats in my car as it is,
- 23:50Speaker 3: the Racil seats. He doesn't like them.
- 23:52Speaker 2: What what are they like?
- 23:53Speaker 3: Well?
- 23:54Speaker 4: The seat, I don't know what that? Oh? They you
- 23:58Speaker 4: know they there. I love the seats they hold you in,
- 24:01Speaker 4: especially you know you're doing those corners.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Did you have that put in?
- 24:04Speaker 3: No, that was a factory.
- 24:05Speaker 2: That's really okay, that.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Was part of all that.
- 24:08Speaker 4: The RS pack you could get mine come with the
- 24:11Speaker 4: leather and cloth. But I think if you got the
- 24:13Speaker 4: RS two package, which was a step above, it came
- 24:15Speaker 4: with the heaated's jeering me and all that, but you
- 24:16Speaker 4: had the sway kind of seats.
- 24:18Speaker 3: But okay, I like mine as it is.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Do you ever get to, uh to any of the
- 24:23Speaker 2: Mini Cooper events? I mean, they had a big one
- 24:26Speaker 2: that came through Vermont. They're touring all over America.
- 24:29Speaker 4: Yes, I haven't been to an actual event. I've been
- 24:32Speaker 4: to the I mean I go to the antique car
- 24:34Speaker 4: show and then I've been to the what's the one,
- 24:38Speaker 4: the British Invasion.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I've been to that one once.
- 24:42Speaker 2: See do you go to the Stow one, I mean
- 24:44Speaker 2: the Waterbury one used to be in Stow. Yes, yes,
- 24:47Speaker 2: go down to the flea market. Oh, listen, if you're
- 24:51Speaker 2: making a really big mistake, if you plan on doing
- 24:55Speaker 2: something like that for an hour or so, oh.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Ya, don't yeah, don't don't do that. You go there.
- 25:00Speaker 4: I get there Saturday morning around eight o'clock and by
- 25:04Speaker 4: the time I've looked around at the cars and then
- 25:07Speaker 4: march down through the flea market, it's probably five six o'clock.
- 25:11Speaker 3: But time I'm out of there, I know.
- 25:14Speaker 2: It's crazy, isn't it a lighter wallet in the heavier bag?
- 25:16Speaker 2: You know? Yeah. So I'm showing on the monitor right now,
- 25:20Speaker 2: Central Vermont Cars and Caffeine every second Saturday the month
- 25:25Speaker 2: running through October, weather permitting, weather permitting, no charge to
- 25:30Speaker 2: get in. This is right at the Aspendental parking lot.
- 25:34Speaker 2: But we say every second Saturday of the month. But
- 25:39Speaker 2: this coming Sunday.
- 25:41Speaker 3: It's a special event.
- 25:42Speaker 4: So at Berlin Helthcarea say, the nursing homes can't, at
- 25:45Speaker 4: least this particular one can't do a Saturday event so Sunday,
- 25:49Speaker 4: so we we'll adjust our schedule to work with them
- 25:51Speaker 4: because we want to see the excited people coming out
- 25:54Speaker 4: and looking at the cars.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Wow, it's so cool, so cool. And then when's the
- 25:59Speaker 2: next Sunday, which is the second Sunday of the month,
- 26:03Speaker 2: and Saturday. I'm second Saturday.
- 26:05Speaker 4: Yeah, so it would be what July. Don't have a
- 26:09Speaker 4: calendar r in front of me. Okay, so the second son,
- 26:12Speaker 4: second Saturday in July.
- 26:13Speaker 2: I think that's the the the eleventh. I think it's
- 26:18Speaker 2: the eleventh. We already threw halfway through June. Dude, I
- 26:23Speaker 2: don't even get me started.
- 26:24Speaker 3: I know, are the eleventh? How is that working?
- 26:27Speaker 2: But look at these great people that are that are
- 26:30Speaker 2: behind Central from Mott Carson Caffeine. You got Ethan, you
- 26:33Speaker 2: got Thomas Drew Lamb of course who started it. He's
- 26:36Speaker 2: still connected even though he's in Missouri. Camilla. She does
- 26:41Speaker 2: a lot of foot photosophy.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Yeah, she does photography.
- 26:44Speaker 4: And she's she's the one that she's the one that
- 26:46Speaker 4: really got this, uh this weekend's.
- 26:49Speaker 3: Event together for us. So she's she's phenomenal. She's really
- 26:52Speaker 3: great to have. She's she's great.
- 26:54Speaker 2: What do people do if they want to get involved,
- 26:58Speaker 2: if they want to, if they're passionate about this.
- 27:00Speaker 4: They can reach they can reach out to any of
- 27:02Speaker 4: us and just say, hey, I'd like to help out
- 27:05Speaker 4: and get things organized, or you know, if anybody wants
- 27:08Speaker 4: to us to come visit them at a nursing. I know,
- 27:10Speaker 4: like Barry Gardens wants us to come there. So I
- 27:12Speaker 4: just you know, have somebody get in contact or I
- 27:14Speaker 4: just need to contact name that we can get a
- 27:16Speaker 4: hold of. I'd be kind of cool to have if
- 27:19Speaker 4: we could at one of the events to have you know,
- 27:22Speaker 4: when I went to someone in Burlington a few years
- 27:24Speaker 4: ago before they got canceled there, but and some of
- 27:27Speaker 4: the police would come and they would just you know,
- 27:28Speaker 4: they'd park their their cars in line like they were
- 27:31Speaker 4: at the cars and Coffee, and they would walk around
- 27:33Speaker 4: talk to people and they would let us. They would
- 27:36Speaker 4: let people sit in the cruiser and stuff. So I'd
- 27:38Speaker 4: love to.
- 27:38Speaker 3: See some of that.
- 27:39Speaker 4: If Berlin or the state police or anybody about that
- 27:42Speaker 4: that we could get in contact with, would you know,
- 27:44Speaker 4: have a little bit of time some Saturday morning just
- 27:46Speaker 4: to come down and hang out. Bring some fire trucks.
- 27:48Speaker 4: We'd love that ambulance So we don't care bring anything, But.
- 27:51Speaker 2: What about what about vendors. Do you need someone in
- 27:54Speaker 2: there too?
- 27:55Speaker 3: We have a vendor.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Is there gonna be coffee? A coffee vendor.
- 27:59Speaker 4: It's the guy that I'm drawing a blank on the name,
- 28:03Speaker 4: but he does. He's down by the resource the drink
- 28:07Speaker 4: he does the drinks, the fizzy drinks. Res Yep, he's
- 28:12Speaker 4: been doing ours. He's been vending for us.
- 28:14Speaker 2: All right. Very cool. You know, I can't help but
- 28:19Speaker 2: mention this, you know, speaking of nursing homes and assisted
- 28:24Speaker 2: living homes, Mayo Healthcare right in the heart of Northfield.
- 28:31Speaker 2: They've got one coming up on Friday, June nineteenth, which
- 28:36Speaker 2: is a week from tomorrow, says right here, celebrate Dad's
- 28:40Speaker 2: cool cars and community. Bring your pride and joy, classics,
- 28:45Speaker 2: hot rods, antiques, any cool cars that you would like
- 28:49Speaker 2: to share with our residents, and I'll show it right here.
- 28:54Speaker 3: You know what time is that?
- 28:57Speaker 2: I believe eleven o'clock, yes, eleven two, Yeah, on Friday
- 29:03Speaker 2: the nineteenth. And you know I was, I was saying
- 29:08Speaker 2: on the air, I think Tuesday that, you know, I
- 29:13Speaker 2: just I want to bring Lily's truck.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I'd love that, Dan.
- 29:23Speaker 2: It's so expensive to drive this thing.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Oh, no, tell me about it.
- 29:29Speaker 2: I just I just filled. I just filled it up
- 29:31Speaker 2: with ninety one. I don't know what I was thinking
- 29:33Speaker 2: putting ninety one in it, but I did. God, buddy,
- 29:36Speaker 2: it's ninety bucks.
- 29:38Speaker 4: Yeah, so the focus runs on ninety one. I can't
- 29:40Speaker 4: put anything in less.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Oh really?
- 29:43Speaker 3: Yeah, so I feel you're pain So.
- 29:47Speaker 2: I think it was I don't know, seventeen gallons or
- 29:49Speaker 2: something like that.
- 29:50Speaker 3: But it's crazy, dude.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it's drinking it, yeah, chugging it.
- 29:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:56Speaker 4: So I've been not driving it as much I've been
- 29:58Speaker 4: you know, I'm not doing as a daily commuter back
- 30:00Speaker 4: and forth to Willison.
- 30:01Speaker 3: I've been driving it a couple of times because it's
- 30:03Speaker 3: fun to drive.
- 30:04Speaker 4: Yeah, of course you can't afford it to Yeah, you know,
- 30:07Speaker 4: I think it's Uh so I'm forty five miles each way,
- 30:11Speaker 4: so you're a little over one hundred miles each time.
- 30:14Speaker 3: So two trips of Burlington, I'm back. I'm ready having
- 30:16Speaker 3: to fill it against you. Yeah right, well with this one,
- 30:18Speaker 3: I can you know, I can go almost a week. Yeah,
- 30:20Speaker 3: with the corollas and you don't have to put the
- 30:22Speaker 3: premium in.
- 30:23Speaker 2: So friend of mine has a has an old Ford
- 30:27Speaker 2: and he just trailers it to some of these shows.
- 30:31Speaker 3: You know what's fun.
- 30:33Speaker 4: What's fun too at the shows is like when you know,
- 30:35Speaker 4: you bring your daughter's truck and the people's reactions when
- 30:38Speaker 4: they see the vehicle pull in like something they haven't
- 30:40Speaker 4: seen before or just amazed, and then everybody flocks that
- 30:44Speaker 4: one particular vehicle when it pulls in.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Yeah you know that.
- 30:46Speaker 4: Yeah, it just gets attention and then everybody dissipates. But
- 30:49Speaker 4: that first, that first time it pulls in and everybody's
- 30:52Speaker 4: just amazed at it.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Well that blocks and then yeah, that happened over at
- 30:57Speaker 2: one of your shows that aspendental. I can't remember then
- 31:00Speaker 2: with the guy it was an old what was I
- 31:04Speaker 2: think it was a Chevy. It was blue. It's a
- 31:07Speaker 2: brilliant blue. I can't remember where he comes out of
- 31:11Speaker 2: peach him maybe, but man, was he head turning when
- 31:15Speaker 2: that thing pulled in. Holy crap. And you know there's
- 31:20Speaker 2: there's also a couple of let's say this too, Dan.
- 31:23Speaker 2: There's also some folks that they've got some classics that
- 31:28Speaker 2: are really really rough and weathered.
- 31:34Speaker 3: They bring them, bring them.
- 31:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean we had one year a kid brought
- 31:38Speaker 4: a It was a twenty fifteen Focus st and I
- 31:44Speaker 4: don't know what happened to it, but the bumper was
- 31:46Speaker 4: in the back seat and he got there and he
- 31:48Speaker 4: just sent the bumper on the ground in front of
- 31:50Speaker 4: the car when he got there. It was just like,
- 31:51Speaker 4: you know, it's just we people have some works and projects,
- 31:55Speaker 4: you know, works in progress.
- 31:56Speaker 3: Excuse me, so bring them. You know, we love to
- 31:58Speaker 3: see everything, even if.
- 32:01Speaker 2: It's dusty, even if it's dirty, even if it's really
- 32:04Speaker 2: in rough shape.
- 32:05Speaker 4: Yeah, like I said, Evan Shangra with the you know,
- 32:07Speaker 4: he's got all his old tractor trailer trucks over in Williamstown.
- 32:11Speaker 3: Bring them on down.
- 32:11Speaker 4: I you know, I usually I messaged him, and it's
- 32:14Speaker 4: usually on a weekend that he's got something already going on.
- 32:17Speaker 3: But you know, I take people. Bring him down. We'd
- 32:19Speaker 3: love to see him. People would love to see those
- 32:21Speaker 3: old trucks.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Evan's a great dude, Yeah he is.
- 32:23Speaker 4: Yeah, and they don't his trucks are so they sound great.
- 32:26Speaker 4: There he's gone by my house. I got a couple
- 32:28Speaker 4: of years ago, I got a picture. I was out
- 32:29Speaker 4: getting a picture of the sunset and he drove by
- 32:31Speaker 4: and I got a beautiful picture with the truck in
- 32:33Speaker 4: the sunset really by Yeah, so.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Wow, yeah you ever it was one time and I
- 32:39Speaker 2: can't remember if it was Central from on Cars and
- 32:43Speaker 2: Caffeine or not, but I drove by. I think it
- 32:47Speaker 2: was Aspondental and it was like an old camper.
- 32:51Speaker 4: Really, guy with the old GMC's the hot wheels Palm Beach, Yes, yeah,
- 32:55Speaker 4: the GMC and he had he brought that one and
- 32:57Speaker 4: that was an It had been an old motorcycle transporter
- 33:00Speaker 4: and the back actually folded up and it still was working.
- 33:03Speaker 3: He still had that part work.
- 33:04Speaker 2: So that was your show.
- 33:05Speaker 3: That was our show.
- 33:06Speaker 4: Yeah, that was probably three years ago. I haven't seen
- 33:09Speaker 4: it Sunds, but that was really cool to see it
- 33:11Speaker 4: because I didn't even know you could. I mean they
- 33:13Speaker 4: customize that to get the back to fold up like
- 33:15Speaker 4: that so they could put motorcycles in it.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Yeah, to haul them around. If you had some some teslas.
- 33:20Speaker 2: I think you've had a.
- 33:21Speaker 3: Couple of Oh yeah, we had the cyber truck.
- 33:24Speaker 2: He had the cyber truck. Guy from Burlington, right.
- 33:27Speaker 4: He used to live in bury but he moved Okay
- 33:29Speaker 4: because he had he had a couple of teslas when
- 33:32Speaker 4: we first started. He had I think he had a
- 33:34Speaker 4: model ass and then he upgraded to the cyber truck.
- 33:37Speaker 2: And yeah, but then when I was chatting with him,
- 33:39Speaker 2: he was telling me he was on like a six
- 33:41Speaker 2: year wait list to get that thing.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Yeah, and now look, I know, flow up.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Don't get me started. Yeah, but it was pretty cool
- 33:50Speaker 2: to get in and see that thing.
- 33:52Speaker 4: Yeah, we actually want to come through the car wash
- 33:54Speaker 4: the other day. Really, you could run one of those
- 33:56Speaker 4: through a drive car wash because with the park and
- 34:00Speaker 4: wash also has so it has the car wash. It
- 34:02Speaker 4: runs full time along with the you know when the
- 34:04Speaker 4: parking the cars if you're going on a trip to

- 40:09Speaker 4: I think it was uh for an accident, whether because
- 40:13Speaker 4: remember you had attended in or shelted in, so if
- 40:15Speaker 4: you had an accid you could probably smack your head
- 40:17Speaker 4: on the edge of it. Because they always came to
- 40:19Speaker 4: a point. That's probably why they don't care.
