- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: What is happening everybody?
- 0:01[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back to another episode of the sports card C. E. O.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_02]: a forty-seveny season and a season of life in the other and naturely baseball history from one of the Cognitive Junior.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_02]: There's a drive right on the Man of Heaven.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_02]: It's amazing.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_02]: He is happy.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_02]: He hits this one hard.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_02]: He hits the line of the left.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_02]: My truck has ripped him on the ground.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_03]: What's up, guys?
- 0:45[SPEAKER_03]: Mike Trout.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_03]: Listen to the sports car.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_03]: See you with current, bubbling hand.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: the boys are in the house, Bubba Kern and Ham, and gentlemen, as we can now go ahead and say, like how awesome is the new intro to the podcast?
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: Hell yeah.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: Hell yeah.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: Who is that?
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: Who is that young fella on the introduction to the podcast?
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: Who is this Michael Trout?
- 1:15[SPEAKER_03]: Mr. Fish, Mr. Fishman.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, this is incredible, boys.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we've been working on this, or Karn, you have it, and then you dropped it, and it's like, let's go in on some for those that have been listening.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: But we've got the new intro to the podcast with the one and only Mike Trout.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: Super grateful for him to do that.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: And certainly for you guys are being a part of this whole journey as we've continued to grow.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_01]: So guys, it's just super fun to be back at it with y'all.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to go ahead and jump into this week's, you know, kind of weekly recap part of the routine here at SportsCard CEO.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to lead off this week.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: If you gentlemen, we'll we'll comply.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_03]: Please.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, sir.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: So, uh, yeah, it post cataract surgery.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: The old man's eyesight is coming in fresher than ever.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I feel like, uh, I feel like a Marvel superhero now.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like I can see at distance that I haven't been able to see it in quite some time, uh, which has been good and healthy on the personal side.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, we are kicking back up my nonprofit work this week with favorite business super pumped about that to get back into that rhythm of something that I love to do.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: And we had a massive kind of development at Hamhouse Sports, a young fellow who is a graduate student at UNC Wilmington, a local college, a podcast listener nonetheless, a fellow that we've met at shows before reached out and wanted to chat about getting involved with Hamhouse Sports.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: kind of helping us with some of the back office stuff that I'd express and challenges on.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: And so it looks like we're going to be moving in that direction.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be awesome because it's going to give a little mat some fellowship and some camaraderie with somebody else a little bit older than him.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: And it's going to be teaching the young fellow kind of the business model that we've been operating under.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: And so it's like a massive transition from Hamhouse Sports to be in, you know, kind of dad and son in the upper room thing to actually have in a little bit more functionality.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so excited because it like frees me up, you know, in a way that I haven't felt quite sometimes.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: So big changes for us and that front excited about those as far as card specific deals, not a lot of transactions.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: We had to kind of hit pause as we moved some of the finances around.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: So not a lot to note on the purchase front outside of just a few deals.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, that was just super excited to share that.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_03]: That's awesome, man.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_03]: Gary, what's up with you?
- 3:28[SPEAKER_04]: Man, I tell you, I kind of took a little bit of like a reset button myself last week.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_04]: I think I needed it just from like the car standpoint when you go as hard as we've gone this year.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_04]: I occasionally have to kind of understand yourself and know like, all right, let's just take a little break.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_04]: And so I did and focused on everything else that I needed to focus on last week, finally being home for the last two and a half weeks, I feel like I woke up this morning and I literally walked down here to do the podcast this afternoon.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, man, I feel good.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_04]: I finally feel like I'm getting things back like
- 4:01[SPEAKER_04]: under control of the home front kids are getting in a room at school footballs rolling down the line and then maybe I can start really kind of focus and back on cards the way I was and when I say I'm not focusing on them.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_04]: I'm still in the game.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_04]: I'm still checking.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_04]: I'm still night Hawking.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not
- 4:17[SPEAKER_04]: Nighthawking is late as current is, but I'm I'm kind of hanging around doing my thing, but from a personal standpoint, like I say, I feel like like I'm in a really, really good place right now and in two our listeners kind of beginning my I started a couple weeks ago, but I'm going to be gone the week of the nineteen through the twenty fifth in the mountains of New Mexico.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_04]: It's kind of right south of Colorado and doing a lot of an
- 4:42[SPEAKER_04]: It's a kind of training for that, put the weighted vest on, pulling the bow and arrow out.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, exactly.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_04]: So excited for that and just kind of getting my mind around that time of year and excited for the fall.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know about New York yet.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know about New York here a lot, but
- 4:57[SPEAKER_04]: We're getting that little bit of glimmer.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_04]: I was on the work out this morning outside and I kind of like had that taste of fall in the air and it was like, oh yeah, baby, fall baseball, footballs kicked off this last weekend for college football.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_04]: It's just exciting times in my in my house.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_03]: So I can tell you a thing or two about elk hunting if you want.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_03]: I can give you a couple tips.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_04]: I don't love it here.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_03]: And what does college football?
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: You're gonna have to indoctrinate current into this culture that we are a part of down here, Gary.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, this college game day thing that you guys watch this show.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_04]: What's the top team in your area?
- 5:36[SPEAKER_04]: Is that Syracuse, so they've a juggernaut out there?
- 5:38[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I'm a Syracuse guy, so bias, and I'll say yes, but like, I mean, yeah, I guess so, but like upstate New York and, you know, the tri-state area are like basically, they might as well be two different states, you know?
- 5:52[SPEAKER_03]: So like people don't consider the Buffalo bills in New York team.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_03]: I know they are, but they don't consider them in New York team.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_03]: You know, there's the Jess and the Giants and they put, but they play in New Jersey, but that's those are the two teams in this area.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_03]: Like if you ask most people right in the way that's like, oh, they have two teams, but no, there's three New York football teams.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't know.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I guess it's really, in my world, it's like, you know, a lot of whatever you're on the mod is, you know, I mean, there's not really like a juggernaut football team that I mean, I guess rockers is probably, you know, when they had a good stretch for a little while, but yeah, no, it's
- 6:26[SPEAKER_04]: You know football is weak when a guy says Rutgers was the judge.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you know football is weak.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, there's really not there's just not a team like there's not a New York powerhouse football team, you know, it's more of a college basketball in general.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, if you're going to look at college sport.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like you can't run or whatever.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: That's not far away, right?
- 6:46[SPEAKER_03]: Well, yeah, like the O'Con's close.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, the old Big East, the when the Big East tournament was at Madison Square Garden.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_03]: I went to that every year.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_03]: That was like that was like the best, you know, when you had you had Syracuse, UCon, Georgetown, St.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_03]: John's where they, you know, they play out of the garden for some games.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_03]: That that was those were the those are the those are the good old days and college basketball from me.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_03]: But for me, I'm we have another week left here summer.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_03]: So we're kind of we're grinding down here to the end of summer.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_03]: A little sad that it's over, but I'm also kind of looking forward to getting back into groove the things schools start up next next week.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_03]: But I kind of have that like anxiety of like having to move everything back and getting into groove again.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_03]: I'll be back in the office, which I'm looking forward to, but it's also been nice.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_03]: Card perspective wise, I've noticed Gary has been a little MIA lately.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_03]: More towards the latter part of last week, not responding as quickly and I call him back.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_03]: I know that of feeling he was up to something there, but we still
- 7:45[SPEAKER_03]: You know, we've still made a couple of purchases together.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_03]: I've been I've been buying some myself and actually been moving some more so than I then I ever have kind of been like more prone and open to.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_03]: You know, taking the money when I can on a specifically and guys that I don't really have conviction and that I don't really like, but I purchased because.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_03]: It's a big card and because I feel like I got it at a nice price, right?
- 8:11[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm not afraid to move those quickly for a significant profit.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_03]: So that's about it on my end.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to dive right in here.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: We have a little mat and back for a one minute with a little mat.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: This is our comp segment of the show.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: What is up everybody?
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's one minute with little Matt.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm glad to be back with y'all.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: I have not been on here in a while.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: The market is at the strongest place.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's ever been and there are tons of happy sellers, but no one is as happy as Big Matt right now because I got my driver's permit so that that means he doesn't have to drive me around to post office anymore.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: We get some balloons on screaming and clapping up for that.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's big news for him out sports, but
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, there's some big sales and we have to talk about the biggest sale this week, which was the obvious Jordan Kobe logo man auto that did twelve point nine million dollars.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: This morning, it was announced that collector Shawn won fifty and Kevin O'Leary from Shark Tank purchased the cards for twelve point nine million.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: That breaks the record for the highest card sale of all time.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: There were some big sales, so we have a lot to go through.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: First off, the guy that got called up, John Stingarsia, his true red did six point five K. Another guy that got called up, Samuel Basalo, his orange ten did eight K. And there's a red ending tonight, so it's going to be curious to see what that goes for.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: More of the oddest prospects right now, Kevin McGonagall, his true gold ten ten.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: Just did six thousand dollars another gold sale for the goat Mike trout Mike trout's true gold nine point five just at forty two k the highest sale this year another sale
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: Believe it or not, Sebastian Walker got a hit last night and he up his bat in average to one sixty four.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: Now we're just messing with the current but his orange nine just over fifty five hundred.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: Another sale Tyson Lewis read eleven thousand dollars crazy market and another red sale.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: Zyer hope our guy at sports card CEO his red to ten thousand dollars.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: I appreciate you watching and I hope you enjoy the rest of the podcast.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: Peace.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: Good job little Matt.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: I don't make it a haircut.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: He did.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: He did.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: He got his back to school trim.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, while he, while he tells me that, you know, I'm clapping because I don't have to go to the post office for him.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: He gets to drive my wife.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: Now I have to deal with my wife.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm very excited in the passenger seat as he's driving down the roads of one of that.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: I bet I bet any thoughts on those sales boys?
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I we definitely have a few to talk about.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'll just say this guys like this is just a side note like it happens so fast boys like I look at the little Matt turn of fifteen and jump behind the wheel of a car.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: I just you heard this growing up and you don't listen and I'm just saying it for a listeners like man those of you with little kids man embrace those moments because it does change and I both of you boys have boys that are younger than than my kids are and just embrace those those moments man because it changes fast but that said yes
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about these sales.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: Before we talk about the logo and deal, what do you guys think about Messiah's call up?
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: I know y'all we had been kind of off of him.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's found like he's getting the hypey deserves and it happened at call up, which is weird.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, why did this wait to call up?
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's been this good for the last year.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: What's the problem?
- 11:25[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I think it goes back to what we've been talking about for the last couple months.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_04]: All these guys, if you come up at call up and you have that immediate success, you're going to get the love.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_04]: And he did, you know, I mean, he showed something right off the bat.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_04]: I think he validated people right away that they look, you can kind of see the with his swing and the way he played that, wow, this guy's going to be for real.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_04]: He's got the pop.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_04]: He's got the power.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_04]: And he got a lot of hype on MLB network and everywhere else.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_04]: And so he kind of got that hype at the call any perform.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_04]: And so in my opinion, and I think the other thing is when you get a guy that kind of lost the buzz going in, they have more room to run, you know, because he was kind of, he was kind of stagnant and once he got the call, wow.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I was going to say like, I agree with that last statement.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_03]: However, I do think that before he even played the game, it seemed like he got the hype that you've been waiting on for a long time.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_03]: You saw everybody asking for him.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody talking about him.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_03]: And it was before he even took an abat, you know, which is crazy.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_03]: You just wanted those guys.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_03]: And he kind of felt it.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_03]: You felt it coming because like all this time, I felt that beside it was going to be
- 12:34[SPEAKER_03]: a better major leagueer than he was minor leagueer.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_03]: Great minor leagueer.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_03]: He was fantastic like his numbers never he was one of those guys that never really had that made those major ups and downs.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_03]: He was so consistent across the board all throughout his minor league career, but he did have that he had that hobby hype once it was announced before he even played a game.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_03]: And that doesn't happen with everyone.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, there's some sort of hype, but because his market was undervalued in our eyes, it then became what we had kind of been hoping for all along once he got to call.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we did really well with Besaya.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we've been in on Besaya for a long time, just because I grew up a, you know, carrot confam.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: We've always followed the Orioles.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_01]: We were big on
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: You know, holiday and we kind of trickled into Bessaya.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: And we got out.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_01]: We got in.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: We got out.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: We got, I mean, I think we at some point in time probably one of our most own prospects.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: I think we had our hands in three or four oranges, which is unusual for us.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_01]: We had our hands in probably six or eight golds.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: We doesn't have blues, which is unique.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_01]: And so we've owned probably eight or ten refractors.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: But like, it's the first time that I've really felt like, oh my gosh, we don't own this guy now.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and I'm bummed about it.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like,
- 13:43[SPEAKER_01]: I almost went scrambling and emotionally balked this past week because I want to have this guy's card when he's like what's in doubles in the gap?
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think if he was one of our guys and so I'm glad to see his price point be where it is.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_01]: He's a guy that I would absolutely consider buying the offseason because he could have a massive rookie year push next year.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I agree with that.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_03]: And you know, I was out of him by the time Cole came to you know, I had the super and I had a couple of oranges and I had a red that Gary and I owned together and I've had some golds and I don't have anything of them anymore.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_03]: And I did have that like crap.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_03]: I wish I wish I still had some right.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_03]: Look, I, the other day, he was never like a, I'm going to hold this guy through call up and for the rest of his career, whatever, and I made my money on him and I did well and they'll be a time to buy back in if you really, if you really want to, but speaking of that, like, kind of having that phoma when these guys are called up and you see some success, like I was kind of having that the other day with with Roman Anthony when he hit that walk off home run against the Yankees, you know, you know,
- 14:49[SPEAKER_03]: It's one of those that buy on the super at one point and I bought it at the before the the twenty twenty four season and I appreciate it and significantly throughout owning that card it was like one of those where I was like this might be a guy that I hold through call up and see where this goes you know you kind of have to pick and choose which ones of those can't hold them all and
- 15:13[SPEAKER_03]: I'm kind of, I'm kind of regretting selling that card.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, because he's a freaking stud.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_03]: And it's not, it's not even like the money left on the table, right?
- 15:22[SPEAKER_03]: Like, yeah, that obviously is part of it.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_03]: It's just feel like I picked it right.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_03]: Like it wasn't like it was a secret, but like before the twenty twenty four season, it wasn't like he was a top twenty five prospect either either, you know?
- 15:35[SPEAKER_03]: It's just more for my own sake, like knowing that I held that and had the balls to hold that through call up.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_03]: I wish I had kept that one.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I'm going to have a hot take here, Karen.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_04]: I'm happy for you that I'm your friend that you sold it, because I'm doing a hot take here right now.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_04]: You made a great decision.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_04]: Twenty two at bats.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_04]: Everybody keeps talking about Roman Anthony.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_04]: I've never seen a guy pump more for doing less than Roman Anthony.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_04]: Twenty two at bats, two seventy nine average, five homers, twenty seven RBIs, four steels.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_04]: On a full year, that's fifteen homers, seventy seven RBIs and twelve steels, batten two seventy nine.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry, hobby.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think he's a good player.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_04]: We talk about it again over and over.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_04]: His cards will be significantly down in a matter of two years from now.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_04]: I guarantee.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_04]: I'll call it if I'm wrong, pull up the tape and call it out.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_04]: But I'm telling y'all right now.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_04]: He doesn't have what we talk about on this show all the time.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_04]: Guys, and you're seeing it even happen with Jackson Merrill a little bit right now.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_04]: The buzz that was Jackson Merrill last year.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_04]: These guys, they get this buzz.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_04]: would ride the buzz, but I'm telling you right now that he doesn't have the wild factor stats in my opinion, then I'm going to hold him up over the long course to be a Bryce Harper or somebody might back because he just doesn't have those tools.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_03]: Well, it's just I can't say.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_03]: agree, but I can't say necessarily disagree, but there's something to me with somebody at his age that's coming up on a big stage like that and having significant success.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_03]: I call up when you see all these guys come on up coming up and struggling, right?
- 17:05[SPEAKER_03]: Like, yeah, pictures are going to adapt to him.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_03]: But he's going to adapt to him.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he's a hell of a ball player.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_03]: Look what I mean, he was, he's about a second round pick and he's, he's worked his way up and he's going to figure some things out also.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_03]: But having that success in a big market like that, right when you get called up to me, that says a lot about you mentally, you know, and where you can go.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_03]: And that's where I'm kind of like, if he's doing this now, what does he capable of?
- 17:32[SPEAKER_03]: I know those projections might say differently from a hobby perspective, right?
- 17:36[SPEAKER_03]: But like, he's got more power than he does, you know, four home runs right now, I think.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I mean, there's not very many guys that actually, if you look it over time, they have better seasons in their career than they do in their first second and third seasons.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_04]: You look over time.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_04]: There's very few guys that when they come up and they're hot like him, do they have their best season occasionally.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_04]: Well, somebody have one in their fourth or fifth year, but usually not.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_04]: And when you look at these guys, it's usually in those first three or four or five seasons that they kind of show you what they are and what they're going to be at least a baseline.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_04]: And I think Roman Anthony is showing us he's going to be a solid major leader and I think he's probably going to be a bubbly average.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_04]: But I don't think he's going to be this all-time superstar.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_04]: Look at Nick Kerr's and you look at what Nick Kerr's is doing in three hundred and bats.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_04]: That is the superstar.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_04]: A guy that's batting like that is a guy that I would have FOMO after.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_04]: I was looking at his stats yesterday because we had our last pick up for fantasy baseball league, I'm in yesterday.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_04]: And I couldn't believe that the guy in soda strong has played the whole season and had a pretty good season, by the way, Tyler's soda strong and Nick Kurtz has already caught him and runs.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_04]: He's already passed him and home runs and RBIs and Nick Kurtz, that's a stud.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, and he's doing it that way.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_04]: And so in my opinion, again, and I think we can all fall on that trap, and that's what I had to cycle as you know, the hobby.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_04]: Like, it's this, like, phomo that exists.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_04]: That's, but it's great.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_04]: The phomo is what helps all of us.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_04]: It's what helps everyone in this show.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's what drives the market.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_04]: And for Bessaya right now, that's what's going on with that.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, there's phomo, I think Bessaya is a great player.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_04]: But I think Roman Anthony is a great example of
- 19:14[SPEAKER_04]: in my opinion, what can happen to any of us when when we kind of look at a guy and go, wow, because he's he's getting the hype man and the hype, you know, who's, you know, who thinks hype in him as much as anything?
- 19:24[SPEAKER_04]: The people that own his cards in my opinion.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_04]: That's usually the case.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: There's always self interest, right?
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's the reality of the hobby.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: We're the, you know, the the the interesting piece about this is really as as participants in the hobby cannot decide who sports center wants to hype.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_01]: We can't, right?
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: But when you have a guy like Roman Anthony coming out of Boston, he sounds this contract like they pushed him to the front.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_01]: Undisertedly so deservedly so that's your opinion.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_01]: The point is is that's when people go, I got to go by his rookie card and this guy who was in the, you know, kind of fringe, you know, early
- 20:03[SPEAKER_01]: adopters or whatever.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_01]: There's a great book business book Malcolm Gladwell's called the tipping point.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you guys have read it, but it's just about how culture responds to ideas, brands, things, whatever.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_01]: And you have these early adopters and then when it becomes mainstream, well, that's when it gets flooded.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and that's the card hobby is you have to be somebody in that early adopter phase until it gets the pump until it gets the push.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: And again, some guys get it.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_01]: Some guys don't like you said, Bassayo was not getting it in AAA like Roman Anthony was getting it in AAA.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_01]: And then Roman Anthony, you know, they abused us what he does.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: Bassayo does what he does.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_01]: And they're both kind of getting it right now.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_01]: So that has a huge influence on the value around these cards for sure.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_04]: Why I think as far as this is concerned, as soon as we all think we haven't figured out in this hobby, we're going to find out we really don't.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_04]: Because we're talking about call ups being hot again.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_04]: Like you look at the password.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_04]: It's the same thing.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_04]: You look at Carson Williams.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_04]: And so there is this psychology of a hobby that right now, everybody wants in Bowman, there's no release out right now.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_04]: So there's not a whole lot to pick from.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_04]: There's a lack of inventory.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_04]: So we can, whenever we think you have it right, it's going to change.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_04]: because there's other things that affect the market and the time of the year is a release.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_04]: And now that all this release is kind of passed by, that's like, oh, wow, where am I going to get my next pump?
- 21:28[SPEAKER_04]: Well, that you're going to get it from the call up.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_04]: And so I think that's why call ups have gotten hot again right now because it is that first available pump available.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: So anything else within that structure, a little map mentioned that you guys want to just comment on before we jump on the big way.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_04]: I would love to, Colonel, I do what you have any comments on it before I dive in, because I've got a fairly detailed one.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_03]: No, go for it, please.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_04]: I think the big question is, and I've been talking about it for a while, is in I think it's a part big part of the meat potatoes that today's show, is this market frothy, or is it for real?
- 22:01[SPEAKER_04]: And so the card itself, so I really have a huge comment about a twelve point nine million dollar sale.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously, it's a gigantic sale, right?
- 22:08[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, there's no way to discredit the size of the sale.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_04]: But I want to look at the market as a whole, because when I look at the market, it has this field to me of the stock market overall right now.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_04]: When we went through COVID, the stock market went down.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_04]: We hit bottoms.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_04]: And then the card market, whether people are realized that or not, it's been a great card market year still is.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_04]: I opened up the car ladder out today, everything's green.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_04]: But in my opinion, when you look at the charts, we got a lot more to run.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_04]: In May of twenty two, kind of the peak of the post of like the COVID boom.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, right at the end of COVID, it was when cards hit their max on the card letter for baseball cards.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_04]: When they hit their max on that index, they hit ten thousand on the index.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, if you'll never seen this on the card letter out, you should go and check out their index's page.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_04]: They track it just like the S&P five hundred on a daily monthly basis.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_04]: It hit ten thousand in May of twenty may of twenty two.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_04]: In September of last year, baseball, whether we know it or not, hit its lowest mark since May of twenty twenty two.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_04]: You all remember last year how that felt?
- 23:11[SPEAKER_04]: It was kind of like goodness.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_04]: You couldn't buy it.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_04]: You couldn't buy any.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, man, what is going on?
- 23:17[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I was stocking up stocking up, but if you could squeak out of gain on a card, you were just ecstatic.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_04]: Well, from September of last year, it has not stopped increasing, but that increase is only at eight point nine thousand on the index compared to ten thousand in the peak.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_04]: But here's the kicker.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_04]: Well, okay, we're almost back to COVID peak numbers.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_04]: But we're three years later.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_04]: So numbers should be compounding.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_04]: Number should be increasing, like, yes, I am five hundred.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_04]: If you're looking at ten to fifteen percent returns.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_04]: So to me, with that being said, I think we've got another ten twenty thirty percent higher, which means if I'm right, that's another year or two that this market should be able to withstand.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_04]: What we're seeing so I'm bullish on that front and I'm bullish even more so there we got so many people that want to come into the baseball market right now With the success of this year people have really understood that you know what Bowman is fun Bowman is a place I can do well, so I feel very bullish going into next spring.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_04]: That's my thoughts
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: That's good stuff, dude.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_01]: Really good stuff.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: I was telling a little map of the day and looking at these indexes on Carglatter, or always helpful.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: The football market seems crazy software now.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's really interesting to me.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and when you look at that compared to like, twenty-one or whatever, twenty-two, it's definitely realistic.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_01]: So guys, talk about this.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like, there's been this longstanding debate in the hobby that Vintage is King.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_01]: Right, it was the Honest Wagner and then it was the Mickey mantle and, you know, there's the three ten mannels that are not out there.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_01]: But when you start to understand who actually holds those cards and who would be selling them and why would they be selling them?
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: Would they need to be selling them?
- 24:55[SPEAKER_01]: Is this a liquidation of an estate situation?
- 24:57[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 24:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like whatever.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_01]: And then all of a sudden, this modern basketball card pops up.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and it's a game-worn jersey of Kobe and Jordan, signed by both, and it goes at thirteen million.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, my business partner and the guy that I'd run early of insurance group with, he's asking me about it.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: Well, he's not in the card hobby, right?
- 25:19[SPEAKER_01]: And he's asking me about it.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_01]: And like regardless of of value and all that kind of stuff,
- 25:26[SPEAKER_01]: That is massive because now you have none hobby people seeing this news and starting to talk about this hobby that we are so near and dear to.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_01]: Whether or not you start to see cards emerge as a true asset class and people are holding them or whether you get new money coming in or whatever.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is a moment in time that you have to go, okay, something happened here that is super significant.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: And again, to your point, but if you look at it historical to the card hobby itself, it's not even close to the peak of twenty one twenty two, but the other point I would want to make now is I think that the buyer and the collector has gotten more savvy over the last couple of years, which is why you're seeing some of the rarity get rewarded from an appreciation standpoint, right?
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like your base chrome scenarios or your silver prisms or overpopulated stuff is flat, but the true rare low numbered stuff is being significant growth.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's really strong.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I agree.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's
- 26:31[SPEAKER_03]: You know, this kind of sale is what's going to appreciate the scarcity of the real one of ones.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_03]: You know, there's so many one of ones out there, right?
- 26:40[SPEAKER_03]: That are just one of ones because they're stamped one of one, right?
- 26:44[SPEAKER_03]: But that is a true one of one, a rare card that
- 26:47[SPEAKER_03]: does not exist anywhere else and never will.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_03]: So I think it'll just, it's not only going to bring attention in from outside of the hobby, which I think was part of the goal, so mission accomplished, but it's going to, I think we're going to see some more rare cards come surface, you know, come to light now because of that.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_04]: Guys, I don't know what it is.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe taking a couple days off.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_04]: I've come back just.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_04]: I'm a feeling just good today.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_04]: My mind is free.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_03]: No, there we go.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_04]: Clear headed.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_04]: I'm feeling good.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_04]: But looking at these charts, it just gives me a little fire up today.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_04]: Just like if you ask you as I'm doing this, friends, pull up the high end guard ladder app.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_04]: And you look at that big spike in time and know that that was COVID, right?
- 27:28[SPEAKER_04]: And so there could be people who goes, oh, it's COVID.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_04]: And it's this and that.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_04]: Well, the reality is, Matt, to your point, when COVID came, it made a change.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_04]: And you know what the change is?
- 27:38[SPEAKER_04]: It brought the nostalgia back to the front of everyone's mind and that is our generation.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_04]: The people that are in their thirties, late twenties right now to let's just call it their midge.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_04]: He's gotten nostalgia again back because everybody started talking about, hey, I pulled my old cards out.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_04]: No matter where I go, people are excited to talk about cars to stay in time.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_04]: Kids, dads, they love to talk about what's in the closet.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_04]: They're saying, hey, we're wanting to get back into it.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_04]: We want to go to a car show.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_04]: When you see that, it's kind of reminds me of Bitcoin.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_04]: I was skeptical of Bitcoin because I'm like, what am I doing?
- 28:14[SPEAKER_04]: What am I buying?
- 28:16[SPEAKER_04]: And people are skeptical of cars because it's a piece of cardboard.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_04]: But the reality is, the money is there now.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_04]: Smart people are getting in this.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_04]: Business men are getting in this.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_04]: Investors are getting in this.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_04]: Celebrities are getting in this.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_04]: Businesses are investing millions of millions of dollars in this.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_04]: And this place is that this this hobby is going nowhere.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_04]: because what COVID did was bring it front of mine.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_04]: And now when you look at our kids in fifteen or twenty years, let's say that they get distance from it.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_04]: Little Matt goes to college.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_04]: This is a phase of his life that he'll never forget.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_04]: He forgets about card for a couple years.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_04]: He gets a girlfriend.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_04]: He's going down the road.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_04]: He's doing his job.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_04]: One day he's going to sit down and go, man, I miss cards.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_04]: And I think I wanted to dip my toe back in.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_04]: And then his kids will come along.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_04]: And he's going to go, you know what?
- 29:03[SPEAKER_04]: I did carbs.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_04]: And so to me, I don't think it goes anywhere.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think that this space goes anywhere.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_04]: I think that this is brought the next generation of collector through with our children that are coming through now.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_04]: And if anything, it's a moat around this industry for a long time forward in my opinion.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_04]: Those are good thoughts.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_01]: We've talked about this.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_01]: It would be interesting if we had Mike Mayhand on
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: Before the end of the year, current, we probably should have Mike back on for kind of an update, you know?
- 29:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think it'll be super healthy and helpful just to kind of get his perspective again because, you know, they've been working on a lot of stuff and, you know, as football season gets into swing, as basketball season ramps up, you know?
- 29:44[SPEAKER_01]: This is the thing that hit me the other day too, is that you've got a Michael Jordan rookie on our shelf.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_01]: We've got a fifty-three mantle.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_01]: And I go, you know what?
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: If that fifty-three mantle,
- 29:52[SPEAKER_01]: was the only one of its kind, signed by Mickey Mantle with a piece of his jersey in it.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, it revolutionizes everything.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_01]: And so we're in uncharted waters with the type of product that is being created, you know, whether it's the color parallels or whether it's the patch autos or whatever it is, like,
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: When you have an asset that is not being recreated and there's a limited supply and an influx of demand, like, I mean, that's what drives them market.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: So it's just, it's interesting to consider and as hard as it is for me, Gary, like you said with Bitcoin, sometimes you can't touch it and you're like, this can't be real.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_01]: It can't be real that somebody's paying this much money for this asset or whatever, but yet here we are.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_01]: So it's kind of like, go ahead and get used to it, boys.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_04]: Well, and if we care as a hobby, if you guys care if I care about the hobby, then the first thing we should all do is be really ecstatic when everybody's doing well.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_04]: When the greed factor comes off and that everybody's doing well in the space because the way that this thing stays exciting and you don't lose people in the hobby is that they get absolutely crushed.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_04]: And they go, there's no way I'm coming back to that because this just wasn't, I mean, in reality, guys losing money is not fun and it never is fun.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_04]: And I don't care how much you enjoy the little cardboard and front of you, the shiny thing.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_04]: When you're losing your ass, I've been there.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_04]: I've been there with the little shiny guys.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_04]: And when the little shiny guys with an autograph are losing you lots of money, it's no longer any fun.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_04]: And so what's cool about right now, we should celebrate as a hobby.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_04]: that the little shiny guys on cardboard right now.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_04]: We're having fun with it.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_04]: And we're making money and people that are coming into the space are making our making money.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_04]: And I've seen a lot of new guys get into Bowman.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not going to call their name on the show, but they're doing well.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_04]: And that's a good thing.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: That's not a bad thing.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely super healthy.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_01]: Current you've been unusually quiet.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: I want to give you the opportunity to share any thoughts as we kind of near the mark for today's show.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_03]: No, I don't really have any thoughts, particularly on that on that sale, it's kind of like still fresh as we record here and you know, I don't want to
- 32:02[SPEAKER_03]: It comment on something that I'm not fully familiar with.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_03]: We don't know facts of everything yet.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_03]: But it's obviously a significant sale.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_03]: And I think it will have a short term and a long term effect on the direction of the hobby.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_03]: So maybe next week, I can give some more in depth thoughts to it.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_03]: But look, the market's strong in general.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_03]: And that's a good thing.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_03]: I think we should give a, I don't know if we have this on the on the schedule, but we should give a an update on our road to one hundred.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, really, that's where I was going to go to kind of close out the shows.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_01]: So as you know to our listeners, we announced last week this new endeavor this challenge to go from one thousand to one hundred thousand.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_01]: and kind of bring everybody along for that journey of what it looks like for three guys to come to agreement about buying cards selling cards and what we should do and so boys last week we did have our first acquisition and our first sale on our road to a thousand challenge and so
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have the card's handy, but little Matt, we had a friend of the show, a regular listener, who reached out, and he said, basically, hey guys, I hit these in a break, not really sure why I got in the break.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to mess with them right now, and he offered us a fair market value on two cards.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: One was a top-sfinest, Bobby Witt Auto, and the other was a true gold.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_01]: Remember the player, do you remember?
- 33:26[SPEAKER_04]: He went, and the other one was, who was the other one?
- 33:29[SPEAKER_04]: Was it, um, maybe look it up.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: So he offered both of those cards at, uh, of four hundred dollars was the total purchase value on those.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so we bought them and we talked about, you know, do we grade these or not grade these or whatever?
- 33:45[SPEAKER_01]: And we just had a situation where we were able to put those in with a lot sale of some other cards and we were able to get six hundred dollars out of those two cards.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_04]: It was brighter.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know how I can forget.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_04]: We got the freaking super fracture.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_04]: Ten, ten, and I forgot our boy, Bryce.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_03]: Same right.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_03]: That's right.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_03]: It was a thing.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_03]: What was it a gold?
- 34:02[SPEAKER_03]: There's something here.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_04]: It's a gold way, Bryce.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_04]: And it was a body wet in case, twenty, twenty, three moments.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_04]: And boys, we have to sell the show this.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_04]: We have to be honest.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_04]: Like out of the picture, you're probably kidding.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_04]: It was a sticker auto.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_04]: So hey, we do want to practice this.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: Which is why we moved this.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_04]: You know, which is why we even we bought it.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_04]: We knew at a purpose.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_01]: The reality was is you have big names.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_01]: You know the main you've got you got color aspect color all those you've got auto you know arguably one of the you know hottest guys and new product to I mean a fresher product right and so we just had the ability to move those pretty quickly like we said we put four hundred in we got six hundred out so in total right now on our road to one hundred k we're up net
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: two hundred dollars, so we're at twelve hundred total, but again, if you look at what we bought bought for four hundred dollars, we had fifty percent profit on that deal.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_04]: Well, in twenty percent of our overall amount of cash flow, and we didn't use a hundred percent.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_04]: So after a week one, you know, we're up twenty percent, a week one.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_04]: It's not a ton of money and a lot of our eyes are listeners eyes two hundred dollars.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_04]: But we're up to twenty percent and I'll tell you I think in the and it's kind of open the conversation the three of y'all.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_04]: But I think it was a good reminder to me of how hard it is when you're working off of a thousand dollars.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah and how patient you have to be like I literally came in week one and was like.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_04]: Baby, we're going to ten grand.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_04]: And on my mind, that's what I was thinking.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_04]: And the reality is when you buy these cards, you got to buy them, you got to get them shipped to you.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_04]: And in some cases, they have to go through authenticators.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_04]: And then you got to get them.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_04]: And then you got to sell them.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_04]: And then you got to get the money.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_04]: And so we are on a mission here of if we could just continue to do what we're doing at this twenty percent or more a week rate.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_04]: I think we're going to be in good shape and we've got some ideas.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_04]: I think as a group, how to get there, but I did want to tell everybody listening, especially when you got that initial budget, it is hard.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_04]: But I think we're going to be able to share to, you know, we've talked about it before different ways to sell cards.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_04]: through in this process, we're probably going to utilize all those.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_04]: We're probably going to use auction houses.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_04]: We're probably going to use Instagram.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_04]: We're probably going to use Facebook.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_04]: We're probably going to use network of people that we have in the hobby.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_04]: And we'll probably use repackers, you know, and because so I think it's good as we do this that people understand what our rhymeset was on this card.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_04]: We knew that we got them at a fair value.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_04]: We knew that there probably was some meat on the bone because he wanted to get rid of the cards.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_04]: And so we were able to get those to a re-packer and immediately free up the cash flow quick.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_04]: You know, our time in and out was much quicker.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_04]: And so I did want to mention that with re-packers because I really, as a re-packer six months ago, did really understand that game.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_04]: We probably left them maybe a little bit of meat on the bone or self because we sold it to a re-packer, but it was quicker.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_04]: It was easier and our money was back liquid faster.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_04]: And so I know you two deal with that game more than we do.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if you want to talk about that at all.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, again, this whole thing was facilitate by relationships.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: We had a relationship and existing relationship with the seller and existing relationship with the buyer and it was really just about connecting those dots and so it's why it it pays to have those relationships.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, at the beginning of this thing, we have to just find a way to build the bank roll slowly, but surely it can't try to do it all in one, you know, one stop.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_03]: So it's just keep it quick and keep it safe and efficient.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_03]: Now it's the best way to kind of build that as quickly, whether it's two hundred bucks, fifty bucks or five hundred bucks, you just gotta kind of move quickly and safely.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, for sure.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_04]: I can't tell you how frustrating it is, though, to see like a fifteen hundred dollar car right now, it'll be like salivating.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_04]: Don't got the money.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_04]: So gross.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: We had a situation.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_01]: And we basically said, guys, that's against the rules.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_01]: We can't stretch.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the work we're having to play about the rules.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to keep you guys involved.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: But with gentlemen, I know we went in to be a little bit brief on the show today.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we've got, you know, a hard stop here.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_01]: But really excited about the state of the hobby.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_01]: We've got some really cool things coming down the pipe with new episodes.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: We are constantly working on the format of the show.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm bringing some adjustments into the fall into the off season so we've been putting in some hours behind the scenes trying to get some things up and running boys as always I appreciate y'all and what we get to bring to the hobby through this podcast to our listeners who keep reaching out next show we'll definitely get some listener Q&A going on
- 38:29[SPEAKER_01]: and dive in.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_01]: We got a couple of interviews coming up.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_01]: Any final faults as we wrap up the show today, boys?
- 38:34[SPEAKER_03]: No, if I can convince you guys to do an episode later in the week, maybe we'll surprise everybody.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_03]: Little, little shocker special.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_03]: Just because we cut this one a little short and there's some other stuff to discuss and some listen to questions.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_03]: But if we do, if we don't, you know, we'll be back next week.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely, Bob, any final faults?
- 38:52[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, come visit us at our culture collision.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Matt and I will be there.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_04]: Little Matt will be there.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_04]: My kids will be there.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_04]: We'd love to see some of you guys come in.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_04]: Kern may fly as private jet and hover right over the place and drop in like Spider-Man and be right back out, but we don't know yet if he's going to grace us with his presence.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_03]: I made just FaceTime as well.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_04]: FaceTime and my little cheaper.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_04]: But go see us.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_04]: That's in September.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_04]: And I do want on this on the road to a hundred thousand.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_04]: We've heard a lot of positive feedback there.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_04]: But continue to tell us how you want to see that.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_04]: What I mean, do you want us to share this spreadsheet?
- 39:26[SPEAKER_04]: It's on our Instagram once a week kind of showing you what we've done and kind of a highlighting of that.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_04]: Give us the feedback of how you will talk about it every week.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_04]: But how do you want to see it visually?
- 39:35[SPEAKER_01]: Do you want absolutely?
- 39:36[SPEAKER_01]: Well,
- 39:37[SPEAKER_01]: gentlemen has always it is a pleasure to all of our listeners until next week.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you guys for tuning in to another episode of the SportsCard CEO.
