Transcript
- 0:30None. What's up everybody, how you
- 0:50doing today? It's your boy Katie with another
- 0:53ghost called mag.com. Weekly ritual caught me eating a
- 0:56pre show jerky. Sorry about that.
- 1:00Mom always said it was rude to talk with your mouth full.
- 1:03Jim is here. That's some people already
- 1:05watching on the tube of you and the tick of the top.
- 1:08Thanks for being here. This is our weekly rocket Metal
- 1:11News Live stream, in case this is your first time here.
- 1:14Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. We've been going live a lot this
- 1:18week, a lot on the mind, a lot on the brain in the world of
- 1:21metal. And this is where we sum up all
- 1:24the stuff of the week. So thanks for watching and being
- 1:27here. Who has been here?
- 1:29Oh, shouldn't, shouldn't be, shouldn't jerky live.
- 1:34I know. What's my name?
- 1:35David Ellison. Whoa.
- 1:37Gabe from Auntie Mosby's is here.
- 1:39We are experimenting with some new stuff, some new tricks and
- 1:45tips from Stream Yard, which is done very right by us for a very
- 1:49long time. And we got an action-packed show
- 1:53for you. But in the coming weeks, you're
- 1:55going to see some different stuff develop and I'm really
- 1:58stoked on it. Seems like TikTok is still on a
- 2:03YouTube is still not working. YouTube's working, TikTok is
- 2:06working. Instagram is buggy right now
- 2:09with Stream Yard. So, you know, we'll see what
- 2:13happens. The feedback, that hunger, bring
- 2:19that feedback. How's everybody doing?
- 2:23We're into July and it's wild out here.
- 2:27What a wild year. This is half a year this has
- 2:30been in rocket metal, so let's do this thing.
- 2:35I'm going to add this guy to the stage here.
- 2:38This is our deck for the week. Boom, boom goes the dynamite
- 2:42Pensive Ki pensive Ki. Super, super glad to be here
- 2:48with you all. So much has happened in the last
- 2:50week, including the holiday weekend.
- 2:53I hope everybody's holiday weekend was good, safe and happy
- 2:59as we go through the rest of the year.
- 3:05So tons of stuff to cover. As usual, we start with the
- 3:11announcements and just a little heads up, we do accept tips.
- 3:14We are launching memberships on YouTube so everybody should be
- 3:19paying attention for that. There's going to be some special
- 3:22perks for everybody that subscribes monthly.
- 3:25We did just pass 1.4 million views on our channel, which is
- 3:30no small feat. We have been in business for 13
- 3:34years. We've been hardcore on YouTube
- 3:36for the last five. Before that we were sort of
- 3:39figuring out our where we belonged.
- 3:43And a shout out to my partner and co-owner of Ghost called
- 3:45Omar Kordy for all his amazing contributions on that.
- 3:50This is everybody's victory. You're starting to see more and
- 3:53more people do interviews for us and all the things.
- 3:57So I think if you're on TikTok, you're seeing the cool lights on
- 4:01my ceiling. I got a cool light donated to me
- 4:05for karaoke by my awesome girlfriend.
- 4:08And Lakota Cordova is here. Thanks for all the hearts.
- 4:12I really appreciate you. If you follow us, we'll follow
- 4:15you back as long as your account is not nonsense like some
- 4:19people. But yeah, you can't really tell
- 4:21from the main view. The best experience for this
- 4:23show is Facebook, YouTube and Twitch.
- 4:26Sometimes Instagram. Not today, but I also hang in
- 4:29and answer questions for y'all on YouTube.
- 4:31And so here's our little just some announcements before we do
- 4:35the tip menu. Tim Cronin, the Co founder of
- 4:39Monster Magnet died this week. He hadn't been in the band for
- 4:41many years. I had seen Monster Magnet back
- 4:44in the day with Tim on drums and bass.
- 4:46He was actually also the original vocalist and you know
- 4:53by all accounts a really great guy in the music store for a
- 4:55long time. He had ALS.
- 4:57We brought that news to you not too long ago.
- 5:00Just trying to promote your band.
- 5:02So no nonsense, bro. I appreciate you.
- 5:05Stay tuned. There's an interesting
- 5:07opportunity for your band that we do here also this week.
- 5:12This was Kevin Riddles from Angel Witch, original new wave
- 5:15of British heavy metal band, a band that Lars and James of
- 5:19Metallica kind of, you know, built their friendship on and
- 5:22and covered and and loved. And this is it was an essential
- 5:27early band in new wave of British heavy metal.
- 5:29Very sad to hear Kevin passed away.
- 5:33Celebrate a birthday this week. Corpse grinder from cannibal
- 5:37Corpse. Many other people but
- 5:39specifically George. Lot of love on this.
- 5:41I think this was our #1 short of the week in terms of new
- 5:45content. So that's kind of cool and a lot
- 5:48of people show and love which is nice.
- 5:50This is a shot again by Omar Cordy the co-owner of Goes Home.
- 5:53Pretty bad ass picture of the neck.
- 5:55Respect the neck. Everybody you mean is here
- 6:01celebrating. I'm going to start highlighting
- 6:03this. I think, you know, one of the
- 6:04things we do is a little portal toward metal history is remind
- 6:09people of stuff you might have missed.
- 6:10So celebrating album anniversaries this week included
- 6:15Metal Church, Dream Theater, Images and Words Deceased, a
- 6:21classic from them, Whitechapel, one of their better albums.
- 6:25I think you saw the Instagram today, Goat whore, constricting
- 6:31rage of the merciless that is 11 years old between the Berry to
- 6:35me, not my most favorite band, despite the Prague dude that I
- 6:38am. But you know, coma ecliptic
- 6:40pretty solid record by them and and superior has an album that's
- 6:46almost 25 years old, 24 years old this week.
- 6:49Kind of Cray. Such an impressive band.
- 6:53But here's our tip menu and here's what we do.
- 6:55I'm just going to blow this up for a SEC so everybody can
- 6:57appreciate this. You and you see me.
- 7:00You can tip us $3 for some general support.
- 7:02You can buy us a coffee on Coffee for Six.
- 7:05You can become a real one for $25.
- 7:08I talk about my real ones all the time.
- 7:09I'm sure some of them will show up.
- 7:10Gabe is here. What's up, Gabe?
- 7:13And if you're interested, Lakota Cordova Bill is here.
- 7:20Sweltering Madness is also packed by as well as Adelise.
- 7:24I think I said that correctly. Adelisi, if you want to hang
- 7:28with us, Lakota Cordova and you join us on another channel,
- 7:32preferably YouTube and tip us. I will rate your song from your
- 7:37band live during the show. Doesn't have to be this week, it
- 7:40can be next week. And again, we're launching
- 7:43memberships on YouTube, which I'll talk about in another
- 7:46second. So here's the tip menu and
- 7:49here's again what we charge for. I also do music business
- 7:52consulting calls and not only am IA professional social media
- 7:56manager, but I've worked in the music industry for 15 years and
- 8:00so I do quite a bit of music teaching and mentoring about how
- 8:05to release your albums and how to do PR by yourself if you have
- 8:08to, or how to hire a good publicist and know what that
- 8:11means and when to release your records in the year.
- 8:15So we accept cash, amp, Kofi, PayPal, Venmo, whatever you want
- 8:19to do. I'm pretty flexible there.
- 8:22I have done some consulting calls for some bands lately,
- 8:25which has been nice. And I just recently gave a
- 8:28social media management proposal to someone as well.
- 8:31So you can do it yourself. I can teach you how to do it, or
- 8:36you can pay me. Here's our Cash App if you want
- 8:40to pause, unfortunately not on TikTok, but everywhere else if
- 8:43you want to pause and Cash App us some dope.
- 8:46I appreciate you. All right, it's time for the
- 8:50features and coming soon, this part of the show will change
- 8:53slightly. Visually it'll be a lot cooler,
- 8:55but we're going to slowly transition to that.
- 8:59And again, I did not put this up on the didn't put that up on the
- 9:03screen. Here's how to support us and
- 9:05here's again the live stream menu and what we use.
- 9:09But yeah, come hang out with us over on YouTube, drop a song
- 9:15link, make a payment to us either in a super like super
- 9:18chat or one of the donation platforms.
- 9:22And you know, message me that you didn't, you paid and I'll
- 9:26see that. And then I can put your song up
- 9:28on YouTube or Spotify or wherever it is SoundCloud and
- 9:32listen to it here on the show. But again, before I actually
- 9:36jump into features, let me see if I can share this.
- 9:38Also, I want to we're going to start doing these memberships.
- 9:43So let me see if I can bust up an image file real quick.
- 9:54Where are you, Keith? He's great.
- 9:59He gives us chocolate cake. Yo, here we go.
- 10:01So if you're watching this, sorry again.
- 10:04Can you sing happy birthday for a follow?
- 10:05Is it your birthday? New York Queens 15.
- 10:08I wish you a happy birthday. I I do sing.
- 10:12I sing in a metal band, metal and hardcore band and I host
- 10:15karaoke here in San Francisco. So I love singing, but I got to
- 10:19get with the business of the show.
- 10:22Anywho, Babymetal heads. You can join the channel for 299
- 10:26a month. All those same things carry over
- 10:29to follow us or die level people at $7.00 a month basically.
- 10:34And again, I'm going to be doing members only live chats and
- 10:37streams and maybe even I'm considering the Facebook
- 10:41community privately for this. And then the classic we who are
- 10:46not as others platform for $25.00 a month.
- 10:49All the other previous platform levels and perks as well as some
- 10:53new things. So a lot of cool things are
- 10:56coming in the future from Ghost Cult.
- 10:57We're trying to bump this thing up.
- 11:00It, you know, it costs a lot of money to do this shit.
- 11:03I'm going to stop sharing that and then move on back to this.
- 11:08Hey, oh, there we go. Just a reminder, we got some
- 11:13features at the website. My partner again did this.
- 11:17Amazing. What are the top 20 metal movies
- 11:21or video games ever? There will be a Part 2, but go
- 11:26check that out. It's the one of the pin posts on
- 11:28our website, itgoescoldname.com. I think it's pretty rad.
- 11:31He did a great job and then you should check it out and comment
- 11:34if you disagree or agree with some of these.
- 11:36I think he did a great job. We did a big review of Back to
- 11:40the Beginning here on the channel Monday with a bunch of
- 11:43luminaries from a cross metal journalism and a musical artist
- 11:47I respect a great deal. And we talked all about the show
- 11:49and broke it all down. I did another live stream last
- 11:52night where I talked about who got kicked off by Sharon.
- 11:56So go check those things out on the channel when you're done
- 11:58watching here. And maybe some of them I will
- 12:00remix into clips and share them on TikTok and you know,
- 12:05Instagram and stuff. Interviews this week here on our
- 12:08YouTube, in particular at podcast.
- 12:10I talked to Mike from concept cafes coffee.
- 12:13You've seen them popping up everywhere.
- 12:15They're doing branded coffees for bands like Iceland Hills,
- 12:18brand New Motörhead, Testament in the awesome coffee can, Soul
- 12:23Fly, Shutter Channel, special collabs, beautiful packaging and
- 12:29delicious coffee. I did a taste test of the
- 12:32ministry coffee they put out last year.
- 12:35And now you can check out my full interview with Mike about
- 12:37his journey to becoming a coffee metal legend.
- 12:41Check it out. And we don't usually promote
- 12:45anything that I don't love myself personally.
- 12:48Juggernaut is here. What up, brother?
- 12:50That's a ghost cultist right there.
- 12:51Tim lead in on to say that correctly.
- 12:54One of these fucking days. Nobody says my name, right.
- 12:59I should say everybody else's name, correct?
- 13:03I should, I should not, you know, I shouldn't have to be
- 13:05corrected. I should be on point.
- 13:10Do do, do, do, do, do. All right.
- 13:14So yeah. Mike from Concept Cafes.
- 13:16Also this week, our own Tom Osman, who's the managing editor
- 13:20of Ghost Cult. He leads the reviews team.
- 13:23We reviewed 1200 albums the last two years at least, and probably
- 13:27more still this year to come. Brand new album out now in the
- 13:31company is Serpent, sludgy doom metal from Denver.
- 13:34And Tom has an incredible interview with Grant, who's the
- 13:36leader of the band. Just such a killer band.
- 13:39And Denver in general has such a killer music scene that I'm
- 13:43super stoked to, you know, help promote that.
- 13:47Also, also, just to remember, if you're a guitar nerd, we
- 13:50interviewed Joe Stump for his new Joe Stumps Tower of Babel.
- 13:55And that is also a banger that's done by my buddy Don De Lamont,
- 13:59who also has his own YouTube channel and podcast talking to
- 14:03talk with Don. He wrote a book and has a blog
- 14:05called Southeast of Heaven and you should check it out.
- 14:09Combat Ready is here. Julius has passed by.
- 14:12Don Aldo has passed by. Thank you so much for being
- 14:16here. Also, because I don't have
- 14:18enough to do, I am the Co host of the glacially musical poor to
- 14:21cast beer metal and swearing. Look at this brand new fun
- 14:24graphic that Don made. We are continuing a series,
- 14:27mostly metal, but we are continuing a series on Beastie
- 14:32Boys. We're going to do probably
- 14:34nothing but metal bands the rest of the year, but we took a
- 14:36little detour to do Beasties because, you know, one lonely
- 14:40Beastie IB, one of the greatest bands ever to do it.
- 14:43And we're really learning a lot about the group by deep diving
- 14:46these records. Vinyl community care.
- 14:49We teach you how to buy and take care of your vinyl.
- 14:52We talk about craft beer. I'm not drinking that much
- 14:55lately, but you know, Nick and Don hold it down in that
- 14:58department and yeah, just check us out and give us a sub.
- 15:02We are almost to 6000 Subs. Our ghost cult.
- 15:05We we're like a few away. So someone will be the six
- 15:08thousandth subscriber. We maybe should do a giveaway
- 15:12when we get there. And also we have a huge
- 15:15announcement and giveaway coming soon.
- 15:17So stay tuned. I kind of can't look at this
- 15:22picture every time I see Sharon Osbourne.
- 15:24I see Lady Elaine from the land of Make believe from Mr. Roger's
- 15:29neighborhood. But anyway, I appreciate Sharon
- 15:31for everything she's done for Ozzy.
- 15:33And we'll talk about Ozzy and Sharon and Black Sabbath in a
- 15:36minute. As usual, we do the news rundown
- 15:40and after we talk about the features, we talk about metal
- 15:42festivals all over the world. So this is going to be a quick
- 15:45recap of some and you know, we're just trying to get there
- 15:53and do the damn thing on Hinge Festival out of nowhere,
- 15:58supposed to take place in two weeks.
- 16:00Cancelled. Completely fucking cancelled.
- 16:04No reason why refunds will be given to everybody.
- 16:08And you know, they all these bands that would have played
- 16:14both days of the festival, the majority of them are going to
- 16:16pop up in club shows around Denver.
- 16:18But absolutely boned all the people who bought tickets and to
- 16:23a lesser extent the bands. I'm not sure why, if it was low
- 16:26ticket sales or whatever. It was the debut of this
- 16:29festival. I don't know if that kills the
- 16:31festival. Oh, thanks so much.
- 16:33Yeah, I'm very metaled out today with my death metal, with my
- 16:36obituary hat, my SOFO shirt. I've re.
- 16:40Anybody else do this where you wear the same bunch of shirts?
- 16:43Thank you, Ryan. You wear the same bunch of
- 16:45shirts for a while and then you kind of wash them all and then
- 16:47recycle with new ones. I just change the rotation.
- 16:51I do so much live streaming and videos and stuff that I just
- 16:54want to kind of look cool every day and I just I don't really
- 16:58put that much thought into it. I have a whole collection of
- 17:00hats you can't see off camera, All these trucker hats and and
- 17:04stuff that I and these douche baggy hats.
- 17:07I don't know why I love these things so much, but thanks so
- 17:10much man. I love Sofho.
- 17:11Sofho has been like one of my favorite death metal bands ever.
- 17:14I'm from New York City originally so long got the New
- 17:16York connection. Oh my God, bro Pierced from
- 17:21within for sure for the favorite Sofho record.
- 17:24I also like the BTK album quite a bit.
- 17:26You know, I appreciate what they're doing.
- 17:29I like that they're carrying on the legacy.
- 17:31You know, Frank, the tank is forever with the chop.
- 17:33But like, you know man, you know, people's lives take them
- 17:38in different directions. It's nothing personal.
- 17:39It's just kind of like, you know, as a lucrative career and
- 17:43a family to provide for and definitely always pay the bills.
- 17:45So I'm super glad that SOFO. I saw them last year and they
- 17:49were crushing, crushing it with the new singer.
- 17:53So I'm not mad. Oh Despise the Sun EP is fucking
- 17:56fresh. Yeah.
- 17:56I also wish it was a full length.
- 17:57But you know, sometimes you care for what you wish for because
- 18:00sometimes bands catch lightning in a bottle and they have 4
- 18:03great songs and not ten. So sometimes an EP, I know, like
- 18:06what is an EP in the vinyl age, in the streaming age?
- 18:09But like sometimes an EP needs to just be an EP.
- 18:14But I feel you. So I want to hinge fast, shit
- 18:16the bed. You know, we had people go in
- 18:18there to cover it for Ghost Coal.
- 18:20I'm super disappointed. I'm disappointed for them.
- 18:23They're kind of taking a beating on the travel.
- 18:25But like, you know, hopefully they maybe rebound because it
- 18:28looked like a great idea. Knock Loose and Lamacon, I can't
- 18:30believe it didn't sell better. Maybe they needed like the side
- 18:36Knock Loose than Lamb of God, two more bands at that level to
- 18:39push it over the edge like a Mastodon and a Gojira or a
- 18:43Mastodon and a Trivia. So yeah, interesting.
- 18:47But I mean, the lineup was fierce.
- 18:49I would, I would have loved to go to this.
- 18:51So obviously we've been talking a lot about Back to the
- 18:53Beginning and the Black Sabbath and Ozzie Farewell here on the
- 18:56channel on our website. We have all the set list and all
- 18:59the band configurations for the Super groups on our website, on
- 19:02the pin post, we did a big review.
- 19:04As I mentioned earlier on the channel here.
- 19:07I also did a lengthy video late last night about who got kicked
- 19:10off and why and who wasn't invited.
- 19:12That seems kind of mind blowing to me about some of the bands
- 19:15not invited. Got to be honest with you, I'm
- 19:18absolutely confused why some of these artists were not in.
- 19:26But anyway, you know, on the plus side, I know people are
- 19:29very cynical about this thing. Ben Self is here.
- 19:32Hey, Tim is here. Thanks for everybody passing by.
- 19:34Appreciate you so much. Supplication.
- 19:37Hey, so, you know, they raised like $200 million for charity,
- 19:42which is unbelievable. I know people want to be very
- 19:45cynical about a cash grab and this and that, but they really
- 19:48had their hearts in the right place and I was very pleased
- 19:51with how everything was done. And again, considering there
- 19:54were 5 million people minimum that watched this thing, not to
- 19:58mention people who bought commercial licenses for bars and
- 20:01viewing parties and things, this was wonderfully done.
- 20:04I hope there will be more. 70 tons of metal has moved.
- 20:09We talked about this last week a little bit.
- 20:11We got the early Intel that they moved their crews for 2026 from.
- 20:16Haiti to the Bahamas. There's a lot of stuff going on
- 20:20in Haiti right now, not just to mention weather and natural
- 20:23disasters and things. So maybe they felt like, hey,
- 20:28again, we should not do this thing in Haiti.
- 20:31So and they've announced a bunch of bands, which the one of the
- 20:33criticisms of a lot of folks of 70 tons of metal is that they
- 20:39often don't announce all the bands to the end.
- 20:42They probably still won't announce all the bands to the
- 20:44end, but here's a quick rundown of who is on 70 tons of metal
- 20:49this year because this is fucking Red.
- 20:52Amorphous Beast in Black, Dark Tranquility, The Heimersgard,
- 20:55Elevati, Arab Alter, Firewind, Gamma Bomb, Rosa, Harry Curie
- 21:01for the Sky, my homies in Heathen when we just interviewed
- 21:04recently. High Raise highlights Power of
- 21:06Penance, Insomnium, Camelot, Ordinogan who we interviewed
- 21:11last year, Rhapsody of Fire, Saturnist 7 Spires who we
- 21:15interviewed not too long ago, Skeletal Remains, new album out,
- 21:19Tear Violence, Win Rose, Zandria and 33 more to be announced.
- 21:24I have never gone on 70 tons of metal.
- 21:26You'd cover it a couple of times.
- 21:28I would really. And we covered Shiprocked a
- 21:30couple of times. Shout out and rest in peace to
- 21:32my dude Rihanna. But I would really love to go on
- 21:36this one of these years. I know it's kind of like a lot
- 21:39and I'm getting too old to do. I can't do you know, 72 hours of
- 21:44non-stop bands. I'm going to have to sleep, I
- 21:46have to eat, I have to take care of myself.
- 21:48I'm very open about my mental and physical health problems on
- 21:51this show. But 70 tons of metal.
- 21:53Props to them for the pivot and I love this lineup so far.
- 21:58Love, love, love. Also coming up here in the Bay
- 22:02Area in a few weeks is the Moss Wood Meltdown headline by Devo
- 22:06and Bratmobile. Very, very cool.
- 22:08This is always a good time hosted by John Waters.
- 22:11That might be half the deal. And I love this cartoon poster
- 22:14where John Waters is wearing the Devo Dome energy Dome.
- 22:19Incredible. Just a reminder again, Release
- 22:21Fest Athens is ongoing in Athens, Greece where we have a
- 22:25correspondent. We will be bringing you more
- 22:27coverage of this festival as it develops.
- 22:30But an amazing looking summer in Greece Incarceration Festival is
- 22:38next weekend. We were going to be covering it.
- 22:40We shan't it now because one of my correspondents also became.
- 22:44I'll get well soon, Corey. But Incarceration looking pretty
- 22:50top tier with Knock Loose, Slipknot, Death Punch, Lamb of
- 22:54God, Three Days Grace with the Two singers, Acid Bath,
- 22:57Dillinger Escape Plan and a bunch more looking pretty tight
- 23:01I have to say. Also coming up soon, Fire in the
- 23:06Mountains headlined by Wardruna. Big Wardruna news coming soon
- 23:09from Ghost Cult. I don't want to spoil it yet.
- 23:11The American debut of Old Man's Child, Chelsea Wolf, Converge,
- 23:16So many killer bands at the foot of the Grand Tetons on a Native
- 23:21American reservation sounds rad. I think it's going to be
- 23:25incredible. We will have some people there
- 23:28and we will get some coverage and news stories and a brief
- 23:30recap of that festival as well. And that's all the festival news
- 23:35this week will bring you more next week.
- 23:37And now it's time for some concerts and you know, the
- 23:42ongoing 9 Inch Nails tour just looks amazing.
- 23:45I cheated and looked at some of the set lists.
- 23:47They look mind blowing and I am going in less than a month to go
- 23:52see them in Oakland and I'm really excited.
- 23:55Thank you again to my girlfriend Melissa for that.
- 23:59King Diamond came down with a case of strep throat.
- 24:02I don't know if anybody hears a singer or metal vocalist.
- 24:05I am very prone to strep throat so I'm very sensitive to this.
- 24:08King had to cancel 4 shows his doctors.
- 24:11Like you cannot go out and sing with the shredded, you know,
- 24:15pins and needles, back of the vocal cord feeling there, back
- 24:18of the throat pain. He usually says he rebounds in a
- 24:21few days from this clearly and hopefully he is not virally sick
- 24:26with anything else. But he apparently performed
- 24:28today in Greece. So he took off the four shows
- 24:31and he bounced back today. But I can only imagine after 40
- 24:35something years of King Diamond and merciful fate, how hard it
- 24:39is to maintain that instrument. I look forward to someday
- 24:41interviewing King Diamond. That's on the bucket list.
- 24:43I have very few left. Metallica.
- 24:46King Diamond I don't know if I'm ever going to get there.
- 24:49I don't know if I'm ever going to get to interview Slayer.
- 24:51Andy Pallettiere is here. What's up?
- 24:53What's up? So yeah, I don't know.
- 24:57I'd love to interview the King again.
- 24:59Black Braid Tour kicking off soon.
- 25:01Black Braid 3 very anticipated here.
- 25:04Ghost Colt Black Braid 2 was the album of the year 2 years ago
- 25:07for Ghost Colt Again, A Day to Remember and Yellow Carter
- 25:11teaming up for a tour. Yellow Carter dropped a new
- 25:13single in video this week. Day to Remember Big big big like
- 25:17an entire two months plus of touring.
- 25:20Pretty, pretty solid. Again, the Adam Ramey Tribute
- 25:26Festival by Dropout Kings is taking place or Tribute Memorial
- 25:29Show is taking place July 13th this Sunday.
- 25:35Again, very sad that Adam passed away suddenly this spring.
- 25:38Very, very sad. A lot of AZ bands and people and
- 25:42metal core people in the scene coming out for that one.
- 25:46Pixel Grip new album out now. We've had an interview with them
- 25:49last year at Riot Fest and they have announced 2 legs of a tour,
- 25:54Part 1 and Part 2 of the Precipitous side tour.
- 25:58I hope I said that correctly. That is part of the name of
- 26:00their new album. If you need some sexy dance
- 26:03industrial music done by radical awesome people who I love.
- 26:07I've seen them a few times here in the Bay Area.
- 26:11Coming up next weekend, Prongs 31 years of Cleansing concert at
- 26:16Amityville Music Hall, presented by Loaded Concerts and probably
- 26:20some openers. The only North American show
- 26:23this year. I saw prong twice in the last
- 26:27couple of years and I never had a bad time.
- 26:29As you can go check out on our YouTube and podcast.
- 26:31We have many interviews with Tommy Victor or Prom.
- 26:36The Nocturnal Affairs kicking off a tour in just a couple of
- 26:39weeks supporting Wednesday 13 and Drowning Pool across
- 26:42different shows in Europe. I have an interview coming up
- 26:45with Brandon of the Nocturnal Affairs soon.
- 26:49Stay tuned. Ice Giants tour got underway
- 26:53this week, Friends of the Show, Ice Giant, Malfast and Celestial
- 26:57Wizard who also have a new album out and Troll War.
- 27:00Ice Giant got into trouble before they even pulled in to
- 27:02their first show in Wisconsin where one of their people, their
- 27:06bass player, got arrested in a store.
- 27:09Not sure why, but killer band if you like progressive power
- 27:13metal. Pretty rad band.
- 27:16I'm a huge fan. OK, In this Moment is kicking
- 27:20off their Hal Hath No Fury tour this weekend.
- 27:25So very exciting there next weekend.
- 27:27Sorry, special guest orgasm. That's the UK orgasm, not the
- 27:32thrash band orgasm. Kat Von D for some reason and
- 27:35the Pretty Wild, pretty wild news coming up again soon, but a
- 27:38very cool looking tour kicking off in Green Bay, WI.
- 27:43Ponthifer has announced that they're going to do 2 special
- 27:47performances on August 11th in LA at Exchange LA, which is a
- 27:51venue space there and they're going to debut new music that is
- 27:56yet to be released that is coming out next year, but they
- 27:59will play there basically. I'm sure with Maynard it'll be a
- 28:02complete phone free experience. So you know, so much for that.
- 28:07But I think it'll be pretty cool that they will.
- 28:13They'll do all the things. Moon Child is passing by.
- 28:17Dylan's garage is here. Nice to see you.
- 28:20Thank you. Sonata Arctica for some
- 28:23progressive power medal is going to do a brief tour of North
- 28:27America, the Clear cold Beyond world tour late September for a
- 28:32week, Toronto, Montreal, New York, Boston, Baltimore, not too
- 28:36shabby. I think it's going to be harder
- 28:39and harder for bands to come here as I've talked about it as
- 28:41it is harder and harder for bands to go overseas.
- 28:44We have more content coming soon about concerts and tickets and
- 28:47the Department of Justice investigating all of this.
- 28:50We're going to talk real soon about all this year.
- 28:55Let's see, Spirit Boxes announced Victoria.
- 28:57You know, they just played on Jimmy Kimmel Live, which was
- 29:00awesome. Periphery and Honey Revenge will
- 29:03open Spirit Boxes next leg of their Tsunami C North American
- 29:08headline tour Baronettes has announced Leg 2, Part 2 of the
- 29:13Red and Blue Tour, with Weed Eater as the special guest on
- 29:17most dates. Spoiler alert, they're playing
- 29:19San Francisco on my birthday this year.
- 29:22You can guarantee I'll be there for that.
- 29:25I will be going also. Blacktop Mojo.
- 29:28Friends of the show, friends of former interviewees multiple
- 29:32times. Their new album is out now.
- 29:33Texas Tailgate tour kicked off tomorrow in Lindale, TX.
- 29:37Kind of a local tour for them. Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska,
- 29:45Minnesota again and Kansas along with Texas so not too shabby.
- 29:50Love those guys, great band. The Dead S have a big western
- 29:55U.S. tour they just announced and they are playing here in San
- 29:58Francisco in early October. Angry Zeta is going to open for
- 30:04them from Argentina. Biohazard.
- 30:12Let the boys be boys SLAM. Biohazard has announced the
- 30:15Judgement Night 2025 tour. Have you heard of that album?
- 30:20You should. It's an amazing document of hip
- 30:22hop and rap and metal and Onyx will be in direct support of
- 30:26Biohazard. Surely they will do the Bionics
- 30:30remix of SLAM every night. Who is excited for this?
- 30:34I am this guy. I'm so pumped, so so pumped.
- 30:42Also also on the tour is New Jersey's Bayway and Swollen
- 30:46Teeth. So 2 bad ass hardcore bands as
- 30:48well as Onyx Liquid. Chris has passed by Frog music
- 30:52lover. What's up?
- 30:53What's up Sly Bunny 183? What year is this?
- 30:58Fear Factory hasn't finally announced the full routing for
- 31:02their DE Manufacturer performances. 30 years of DE
- 31:05Manufacturer this year. They're already on tour in
- 31:07Europe right now playing metal festivals and headline shows.
- 31:10Then they're going to kick off their own headline tour, sort of
- 31:14a Co headline tour of North America with Cavallera who are
- 31:17playing Chaos AD Max and Igor playing Chaos AD with their
- 31:21band. Fear Factory going to play DE
- 31:23Manufacturer at select dates when they're closing and not I
- 31:27think when they're not opening because of time.
- 31:30But I'm super excited for this. Just incredible.
- 31:35Kicking off in Flagstaff, AZ and ending with the Headbangers boat
- 31:39cruise on Halloween out of Miami.
- 31:43Not too shabby. And Florida getting like 345
- 31:46shows and the boat cruise really rad because Florida does not get
- 31:49a lot of metal cruise, you know, like metal tours.
- 31:53Just a reminder, I've had this lower down in the in the show
- 31:56here order, but this technically is an ongoing exhibition.
- 31:59So I decided to move it up higher in the show.
- 32:02Please, if you're in New York City, go to the Bronx County
- 32:05Historical Society and check out the Uptown Rumble, the history
- 32:09of heavy music in the Bronx, which includes bands that I have
- 32:12played in classics from heavy metal and and thrash metal that,
- 32:16you know, like Anthrax and Aerosmith and Kiss, but also
- 32:19like very essential underground bands from the 90s and beyond.
- 32:25And I'm from that place, so I want to help support them.
- 32:29The Sword has announced the Warp Riders 15th anniversary tour.
- 32:33You know, Sword reunited earlier this year for some dates,
- 32:37occasional festivals and things and now they're doing a full out
- 32:40tour with direct support from Rickshaw Billy's Burger Control,
- 32:46Great thrash Crossover Fun Band and Pink Fuzz Psychedelic Band.
- 32:53What else? What else, What else?
- 32:54All right, just a reminder, Death Angel has announced their
- 32:58VIP packages for their Act Three U.S. tour.
- 33:01They're also playing their annual Christmas shows here in
- 33:04the Bay Area on stage, tour, meet and greet, photo OPS, VIP,
- 33:09exclusive merch, early entry and much more.
- 33:13Go check that out at deathangel.com and their
- 33:16socials. Just a reminder one last time,
- 33:19you can tip us and support us. I'll happily check out your
- 33:22songs if you put them in on YouTube.
- 33:24It's just the easiest for me. But Twitch and YouTube is where
- 33:27I will check your music out. Drop us a tip, help us out.
- 33:30We're just trying to keep the lights on here.

- 33:34advertising and I'm pretty open about we got a brand new
- 33:37affiliate partner. Holy shit, yo, I'm so pumped.

- 33:43We consider deals all the time for affiliate partners and I've
- 33:48talked about this already and I'm so stoked now to have an
- 33:51affiliate partnership to offer you.
- 33:54And I'm going to get my my link here in the description, but
- 34:00fable beard company. You've seen me talk about them.
- 34:03I think I got this beautiful beard.
- 34:04It wasn't my accident. It was actual hard work.
- 34:07Once again, shout out to my girlfriend for originally
- 34:09gifting me with the original Fable beard stuff.
- 34:12And I got to be honest, like just magical.
- 34:15First of all, it's like expressly for geeks and nerds.
- 34:18It's all kind of Dungeons and Dragons campaign speak and lore,
- 34:23and every scent has a character and an artwork that's just
- 34:28specific to that. And the smells are really, first
- 34:31of all, it's all natural ingredients.
- 34:32So no chemicals, no talcum powder in your deodorant, no
- 34:37weird oils or stuff in your beard.
- 34:39Just all natural stuff. Beard bombs, deodorant, beard
- 34:43washes, shampoos, all kinds of men's care products that we
- 34:46need. Men, You know, we're coming into
- 34:49our own finally. It's not just guy liner anymore.
- 34:52It's real. And so I have this beautiful
- 34:54little package here I'm going to show and I'm going to put myself
- 34:57back on the screen here for a second.

- 35:03envelopes. I haven't received all and also
- 35:06sometimes boxes. So check this out.
- 35:09When you get a fabled beard product, it comes with this wax
- 35:12seal note to you. Look at how cool this shit is a
- 35:16real wax seal. What is this Game of Thrones
- 35:18House of the dragon? Holy shit yo, I'm so into this
- 35:21and I'm going to share my link in a second with everybody.
- 35:26It's a it's a Bitly dot, you know, bit dot LY back slash.
- 35:33Fable beard goes cold man, but I'll share it in the
- 35:36description. Did not have my fancy letter
- 35:41opener handy. Look at this thing they sent the
- 35:43card. Amazing Look at this guy sent
- 35:48the little card from all of us at Fable Beard, thank you for
- 35:51your incredible support this spring.

- 36:03in it. You are the Fable Army and they
- 36:07have a Facebook group and everything, so they send out
- 36:10their stuff in these little packages.
- 36:11And my favorite scent so far is the gin and it and this
- 36:17deodorant which is made with beeswax and stuff like that.
- 36:19And it's not harmful to you. I have very sensitive skin and I
- 36:23always have a hard time getting deodorant again, comes like
- 36:25every other deodorant. Stick with a plastic cover in it
- 36:28so it doesn't get wrecked. It's beeswax so you don't have
- 36:31to like grind it onto your body just like a gentle glide and
- 36:34I've been dry for days with this thing.
- 36:37Also, in addition to the fable beard deodorant, I also happen
- 36:40to have handy the same the this is the marksman scent, the gin
- 36:45scent I have at home. This is the Co wash for your
- 36:48beard. So if you are a beardo, a metal
- 36:50head, if you were they them with a beard, everybody with a beard
- 36:55and hair products can use Fable beard and they have a Co brand
- 36:59called Fable Beauty and that is also very cool stuff.

- 39:50And again, I appreciate everybody that's here.
- 39:53All right, moving on with the rest of the show.
- 39:55Let's blast through this. You know we're on Twitch.
- 39:57Thanks for following. We'll follow you back if you're
- 39:59still there. We're on all the socials
- 40:02threads. Blue sky.
- 40:04Twitter is kind of a shit hole now but I still like Twitter X
- 40:08whatever the fuck. How's everybody liking this view
- 40:15of my room here with the Northern Lights on the ceiling
- 40:18and some interestingly placed laser beam dots?
- 40:22I feel like I'm going to rush show.
- 40:24Woo. Neil was the greatest man.
- 40:28Anyway, it's time for the rest of the show.
- 40:31Let's do it. Biggest news happening, Remember
- 40:35when we had to wait in line to buy concert tickets?
- 40:38I will blow this up and we'll take advantage of this.
- 40:40I think this was pretty a pretty great time.
- 40:42I'd like to see it go back to this big story.
- 40:47Red Alert mention that Spirit Box played on Kimmel Spirit Box
- 40:53tour. You know, they're just taking
- 40:56over everything. They're clearly one of the
- 40:57rising bands out there. I talk very often on this show
- 41:00and all our shows about what are the future bands like when
- 41:04there's no more Metallica, Made in Sabbath soon now with no more
- 41:08Sabbath or Ozzy Maiden, probably next.
- 41:11Priest, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, these bands, these
- 41:14bands are not forever. Even Slipknot, so you know and
- 41:20Gloria Drummond is here Red alert y'all, the thing we've all
- 41:26been waiting for and predicting and promoting Deftones just
- 41:29before I went live dropped a brand new song.
- 41:32Have you heard it? It's pretty damn amazing.
- 41:36Big big Deftones energy Private music is the new album coming
- 41:39out in late August. Pre-orders are live right now
- 41:42and we have some very cool looking merch bundles and stuff.
- 41:45And they just dropped a brand new song and I was really just
- 41:53flabbergasted by how good it is. My Mind Is a Mountain is the
- 41:57name of the single. We've got the track list, we've
- 41:59got the artwork, this beautiful looking artwork here on the next
- 42:03slide. That photo, of course, was by
- 42:05Kim Hanson from Ghost Cult shot at Sickening World Fest.
- 42:09But I love the green and the white snake and things.
- 42:12I don't love snakes, but really cool, provocative artwork from
- 42:16Deftones and the songs of banger.
- 42:18Very white pony and self-titled Deftones of energy.
- 42:23So I'm here for all that, you know, also also big news of the
- 42:28week, Matt Cameron has stepped down from Pearl Jam after 27
- 42:32years in the band. Thanks, Chad.
- 42:34I appreciate you, pal. Elaine Project Shakes.
- 42:38Nice. Thanks so much.
- 42:42But yeah, Matt Cameron retired from Pearl Jam now.
- 42:45I don't know if this means he's kind of taking a step from
- 42:47drumming physically. Pearl Jam is yet to announce
- 42:50another drummer. On the flip side, I know that
- 42:53Soundgarden is supposed to resume work on their unfinished
- 42:56final album with Chris Cornell. And I would love to see that.
- 43:00Thanks so much, Chad. Again for all the likes and all
- 43:02that. I appreciate you.
- 43:03And if you follow us, we'll follow you back.
- 43:05But yeah, Matt Cameron, what a big surprise.
- 43:07Maybe it means because he's going to direct all his energy
- 43:10to the Soundgarden. That would be rad.
- 43:11But no news yet on who. Like this is a bloodbath year
- 43:15for drummers to get fired or quit everywhere.
- 43:19Just unbelievable. Moving on a little bit more
- 43:25unpacking of the Black Sabbath stuff.
- 43:27I don't know if you're tired of it yet.
- 43:28I'm not tired of it yet. I'm still kind of an amazement
- 43:30that this thing was even pulled off or happened.
- 43:32And so back to the beginning happened.
- 43:37And again, they raised all this money for charity and we still
- 43:41don't know who was kicked off. But you can check our video
- 43:43about this. One thing that I didn't want to
- 43:45see. I know that geezer shared this.
- 43:47What happened was you saw the lights go down on Ozzy, and then
- 43:50they cut the feed to black and ended the stream.
- 43:54But actually Ozzy stayed on stage and the rest of the
- 43:58Sabbath return. They wanted him to have his
- 44:00moment to take in the applause by himself.
- 44:02And then they came back to some kids playing in the alley
- 44:06outside my house, and the band came back on and gave Ozzy a
- 44:09cake and they all took a bow together.
- 44:11And nobody got to see this now. Maybe it was a surprise but you
- 44:15got to tell somebody so they don't cut the feed on or put you
- 44:18know like they don't cut the feed on it or maybe they could
- 44:20have videoed it and put it back in later.
- 44:22But I get it. They were like on a stream for 9
- 44:24hours. I get it can be exhausting and
- 44:27work, but Alex on fire 61 is here.
- 44:31What up? What up?
- 44:33Whoosh shit out is here. Whoo.
- 44:37Lamb of God dropped the cover of Children of the Grave.
- 44:39They performed it at the show and then it went live on
- 44:42streaming everywhere which is pretty rad.
- 44:44I hope they'll do like a professional music video from
- 44:47it. I'm sure.
- 44:48I personally liked it. I know Randy doesn't sing much
- 44:51but it was cool to hear him try to sing and then do the
- 44:55screaming. Screaming better wrap this kid
- 44:58up. And a lot of related Black
- 44:59Sabbath stuff happened. So in addition to a whole bunch
- 45:04of merch and other things being launched for charity, one of the
- 45:08shirts for Black Sabbath, the Super Not Back patch, was drawn
- 45:12and created by Allen Robert, a wife.
- 45:14Had any? You know, he's a legendary
- 45:15artist, not just for that man, but his own comic books and
- 45:19adult coloring books and everything.
- 45:21So pretty rad. Also also imagine Tom Morello
- 45:26and Adam Jones. Tom Morello from Raging as the
- 45:28Machine was the musical director of this and Adam Jones of course
- 45:31Tool played and shockingly was shown on the live stream.
- 45:34I'm still can't believe they were shown.
- 45:36But these two guys who grew up in the bedroom.
- 45:38Like, you can see a Kiss poster behind them and some kind of
- 45:41robot thing. And these guys were playing like
- 45:44in a, it's playing together, learning to play guitar together
- 45:47in high school in a small town outside of Chicago.
- 45:50And then 40 years later, here they are at the farewell Black
- 45:54Sabbath and Ozzy concert, both making major contributions.
- 45:57Pretty incredible arc for those two guys.
- 46:00And it's weird that their bands didn't work out together.
- 46:03But hey, here's Sharon Osbourne. She looks like death work, you
- 46:08know, worked over and warmed over.
- 46:10And she has announced that she's retiring.
- 46:12This is her pinnacle moment, that putting on this last
- 46:14concert for Ozzy and Sabbath is her so-called crowning
- 46:18achievement. And we still don't know who was
- 46:21officially kicked off, but I'm pretty sure it was Mötley Crüe.
- 46:25And yeah, thanks so much, Chad. I appreciate you.
- 46:27I hope so. Me too.
- 46:28We're trying to build this thing.
- 46:29We've got almost 6000 Subs on YouTube.
- 46:34So we're still still technically a small creator, but you know,
- 46:37we've got about 80,000 almost on social all the way across
- 46:40everything. So I'm pretty proud of that.
- 46:43We've been around for 13 years. We started as as a Zine and then
- 46:47I took it over and we became kind of a full-fledged website
- 46:49every day. But Sharon taking a bow, she's
- 46:52walking away. I think one of my lights went
- 46:54out here. OK, no biggie.
- 46:57Also big news this week, Foo Fighters.
- 47:00Foo Fighters started posting last weekend, some, you know,
- 47:06photographs and and things from the studio of them recording new
- 47:11music, but very grainy, shitty on purpose Instagram photos, you
- 47:17know, we'll see. Growl would have been a guy
- 47:19would have thought would have been at that Black Sabbath
- 47:22thing, but you know, he's been kind of laying low except for
- 47:25the cover of Minor Threat the band put out recently.
- 47:29Public Enemy dropped The Brand a surprise dropped the brand new
- 47:32album on July 4th, Black Sky Over the projects, apt 2025 and
- 47:38it's a banger. I listened to about half of it
- 47:39last week and I thought it was rad.
- 47:41So definitely check out the new Public Enemy album.
- 47:44Cave In, who recently released Jupiter as a 25th anniversary
- 47:49and they have had some touring canceled because Adam broke his
- 47:54arm hiking in Vermont. But Cave In has announced 2 more
- 47:57reissues this year on Relapse Records.
- 48:00They're they're label Creative Eclipses and The Sacrifice
- 48:03Poles, both in various vinyl configurations.
- 48:07I'm all into these and all in on these Cave In reissues.
- 48:12Vicious Rumors, 50 something years as a band, 45 years as one
- 48:17of the first San Francisco heavy and thrash metal bands has put
- 48:20out a new single and they have some touring coming up this
- 48:23year. Very exciting.
- 48:24Wendigo is here. What up, what up, what up.
- 48:29I feel so naked without my Instagram peeps.
- 48:32Agriculture is the self-described ecstatic black
- 48:36metal band from LA. One of the coolest bands.
- 48:38I saw them over from Baroness last year.
- 48:41They have announced their brand new album The Spiritual Sound.
- 48:44Here's the album cover and that's coming out on the
- 48:47excellent Flenser Air label here from the Bay Area.
- 48:51Blue Jean Baby is here. What up, What up Drop is A2
- 48:56music producers, guys who put out their own music and remix
- 49:00other artists. This is their charity lime green
- 49:03vinyl single of a remix by the band Oxen.
- 49:07Everybody's in a mutual admiration society for each
- 49:11other for over this and it's pretty cool.
- 49:12We shared the news on the site this week Of mice and men today
- 49:17announced a brand new album coming out soon.
- 49:19Another miracle brand new single out pre-orders out now go check
- 49:23that out. We've interviewed the band
- 49:25before We'll probably interview them again.
- 49:29Here is Dying Oath, not to be confused with Dying Wish, the
- 49:33band or the label, but Dying Oath new album out now.
- 49:36Killer man, killer man, killer killer man super into the This
- 49:42is Winona Fighter, who recently put out a new album and they're
- 49:46putting out a deluxe version of that album.
- 49:48And they released an unplugged version of their hit song.
- 49:52You look like a drunk Phoebe Bridgers Lions fan.
- 49:56What up? Lions should go all the way this
- 49:59year in football. That's just my prediction.
- 50:02We'll see. Marissa Nadler, I don't know if
- 50:11you were a big fan of dark folk and ethereal singer-songwriter
- 50:15stuff, but she's incredible and I'm a huge fan.
- 50:17And she dropped the new single this week from her upcoming new
- 50:20album. Be on the lookout from Marissa
- 50:22Nadler interview on our channels and podcasts.
- 50:28This blew my fucking mind. King Crimson is in the studio
- 50:32making a new album now. I'm going to be honest, I
- 50:35thought the band was over. Bill Rieflin died, the pandemic
- 50:39happened. They In the Court of the Crimson
- 50:42King documentary came out of which I interviewed the
- 50:44director, Toby Ames. You can see that.
- 50:46I'll link it here in the description.
- 50:48But King Crimson's in the studio making a new album.
- 50:51I don't know exactly. And we can kind of guess who's
- 50:53on the album. Jocko Josek and Tony Levin and
- 50:58Gavin Harrison. These people are regulars, but I
- 51:02don't know exactly if everyone patents the Leto, but we have to
- 51:06see who's in the band. But I'm a massive King Crimson
- 51:09fan, easily one of my top 15 bands ever.
- 51:12I love them so much. I grew up a huge fan and a lot
- 51:16of the music I have ever made is kind of King Crimson, you know,
- 51:19owes a little bit to King Crimson.
- 51:20Even when I was making hardcore advancement.
- 51:24This is moths from Puerto Rico. Their new album Septem is coming
- 51:28out in August and they dropped the new single in a video.
- 51:32This is a current photo of the band by Rafael Burgos.
- 51:37We've carried some of his photography in the past.
- 51:39Some very cool stuff on Moths. I will.
- 51:40I am going to get a new interview with Wesley who's also
- 51:44done some interviews on our YouTube or podcasts.
- 51:48This is the Pretty Wild from the UK.
- 51:51They are sort of a metal core sister duo.
- 51:55Doomsday Prophet is here. What up, what up?
- 51:57Welcome back. They dropped the new single.
- 52:00They're going on that aforementioned tour within this
- 52:02moment here in the States and more stuff coming soon.
- 52:04They've been dropping a series of singles.
- 52:06I imagine an EP or an album is forthcoming.
- 52:11This is Rain City Drive. They've got a brand new single
- 52:14out. Very killer band.
- 52:16Killer band. So definitely check them out.
- 52:20Who remembers unfolding the cassette insert to read the
- 52:23lyrics? I do.
- 52:25Let me know if you do too. And now it's time for some new
- 52:29music. Friday I am going to.
- 52:31There's so much music coming out.
- 52:33We have really a pretty packed day for 4th of July of new
- 52:36releases. But now we're into kind of like
- 52:39the post holiday summer jams. And I got to be honest, the
- 52:45summer used to be very quiet for new music, so it's very busy
- 52:50this summer. So I'm going to read the band
- 52:52name, the album, the label if they have one, and the genre.
- 52:56And you guys, you know, hopefully this will help educate
- 52:58you. Every week we create a video, we
- 53:01do a voice over and we plan this out once in advance and try to
- 53:05keep it as updated as possible. Review a lot of albums, it goes
- 53:08cold, so you can check that out. But also we promote underground
- 53:11bands specifically with this list.
- 53:13If you have a new album coming soon, not a single but an EP or
- 53:16an album, hit us in the link on YouTube for this and then you
- 53:21can get in our list. We can add you to our list.
- 53:24It's hard to do the week of, so most bands promote themselves
- 53:30after the fact. Not a good plan.
- 53:32Not a great plan as Tony Stark would say.
- 53:35Kicking off things this week, Anger on Sailpon on Redefining
- 53:39Darkness Records. Great, great label.

- 57:17Let me now put myself back in. Hey, it's me.
- 57:23Let me see if I can do something here and we're almost done with
- 57:26the show. I really appreciate you at a
- 57:27very manageable under an hour. So I appreciate you all here.
- 57:31Let's see if I can bust up the second camera angle today
- 57:35because I have it planned, but let's see.
- 57:41Oh, I might have got it. Let's see what happens.
- 57:43I'm sure what will happen here, but I'm going to give it a shot
- 57:47because I have a cool thing to share because it's time for the
- 57:53mailbag. And you know what I do in the
- 57:54mailbag? I show off stuff that I have and
- 57:58and bright and blindy here before I switch it all over
- 58:02fully and hey, it's me. Get the belly shoved here.
- 58:09Sorry about that everybody, any who there we go.
- 58:13Let's do this. I have for the mailbag this week
- 58:16this awesome book. You can swing it back to show
- 58:19you in a second. So I have this book here.
- 58:31This is Hail Murray the photography of Murray Bowles.
- 58:36For 40 years. Murray Bowles was a Bay Area
- 58:40photographer who was an just documenting the scene,
- 58:44especially the Gilman street punk scene, early thrash metal
- 58:48and crossover. So much killer stuff that Murray
- 58:50did. This book was actually sent to
- 58:52me a couple of months ago. I am trying desperately to catch
- 58:54up. I have book reviews coming on
- 58:56Guns and Roses books on Gary Holt's new book and this Hail
- 59:00Murray book. Sue, be patient, but I want to
- 59:03show the book here. I finally got the other camera
- 59:06angle open. So I want to show it to you
- 59:07guys. I'm going to put it over here
- 59:09like so so you can see the hail Murray book.
- 59:12Sorry, you guys on TikTok come over to YouTube and watch it
- 59:15here. So I've got the front cover and
- 59:17this came with a beautiful like a photograph inside, like a
- 59:22really high quality frameable photo here from the book.
- 59:26And this is Green Day at Gilman Street in 1992.
- 59:31So before Doogie, before they really made it, when they were
- 59:34still in Lookout Records. Look at this thing, man.
- 59:36This is beautiful, frameable, beautiful card stock.
- 59:41You know, I don't know if I would personally frame this, but
- 59:43I do love a lot of punk, as you can see by the Ramones banner
- 59:46over my head in the bedroom studio here.
- 59:49But just just a quick look at this beautiful Murray Bolzberg,
- 59:53man. Sorry about that microphone,
- 59:55man. Look at this.
- 59:56This is a gorgeous tabletop book if you love punk rock and you
- 59:59love live photography of bands and really a loving forward, you
- 1:00:05know, written by other people in the scene, posters and Flyers
- 1:00:09that used Murray's photos, album covers.
- 1:00:12He really shot like every single huge legendary band before they
- 1:00:17were famous. So, I mean, this is a pretty
- 1:00:20incredible book and you can buy it.
- 1:00:24From the publishing company as well as places like 1234 Go
- 1:00:28Records, which I sometimes patronize here.
- 1:00:32But this is the Hail Murray, the Bay Area photography of Murray
- 1:00:35bowls 1982 to 95 S really 13 years.
- 1:00:39Here's some of the quotes about the book.
- 1:00:41I'll turn the camera back to me so you can see me.
- 1:00:45But here's some quotes about the book that I thought were really
- 1:00:48interesting. So Larry Livermore from Lookout
- 1:00:52Records was the first label for many Bay Area punk bands,
- 1:00:55including The Green Day. Murray had a vision, and he
- 1:00:57shared it with the world. He showed us ourselves in ways
- 1:00:59we might never have seen on our own.
- 1:01:01The chronic color and maker of history.
- 1:01:03Here is Here's a good quote from Camille to Louie of the Yeasty
- 1:01:10Girls with AZ. She was a photographer.
- 1:01:12Murray was one-of-a-kind talent. He was the king of what we
- 1:01:15photographers called the Hail Murray.
- 1:01:17He would raise his camera above his head and bam, his flesh
- 1:01:20would go up and goddamn it, he would get such amazing shots of
- 1:01:24whatever flailing high decibel hubbub surrounded him.
- 1:01:27Jesse Michaels of Op Ivy, Bay Area legend Murray was a great
- 1:01:31observer, a great fan, and a great friend.
- 1:01:32Everybody who met him, he loved bands, but I think above all, he
- 1:01:35loved The Outsiders in general. This is from Last Gasp
- 1:01:37publishing. Again, hail Murray.
- 1:01:39Especially if you're a punk fan, this is indispensable and a
- 1:01:43definite bonus to your collection.
- 1:01:45And that's the show. We did it in a manageable one
- 1:01:50hour and change. Put the deck back up for one
- 1:01:53more second. Just the mailbag and there's the
- 1:01:55cover of the book and there's the final clip there of me.
- 1:02:00And you know, again, I say every week at this juncture, the show,
- 1:02:03you could take your time. You spend your time watching.
- 1:02:05There's so many creators, there's so many people.
- 1:02:08Mystery Meet is here. What up?
- 1:02:10There's so many people do in music journalism and not doing
- 1:02:13it well and doing a lot of YouTube stuff and Twitch stuff
- 1:02:16and not doing it well in my personal opinion.
- 1:02:18But I'm grateful for anyone who would take the time to hang out
- 1:02:20with us and watch. Thank you so much for being
- 1:02:23here. And as we say every week at this
- 1:02:26juncture of the show, it's a tough time in the world.
- 1:02:30So please take care of yourselves.
- 1:02:31Take care of each other. Somebody falls down the pit,
- 1:02:34pick them up. Check on your friends, check on
- 1:02:36yourself. Don't drink and drive and stay
- 1:02:39as metal as humanly possible. And as always, I'm going to
- 1:02:41dance a jig on the way out to the theme song.
- 1:02:44And we'll see you next week. Stay tuned.
- 1:02:46And goes call for more news. Peace.
