- 0:24Hey y'all, welcome to today's episode of the Final Fun podcast.
- 0:27I'm your host, Will Ernest, here today with my co-host Evan Sandra.
- 0:30Hello, y'all.
- 0:31Uh I got a packed episode tonight, so let's uh let's just get right into it.
- 0:35Uh I want to talk about first up the high limit sprint cars over at our place at our crib.
- 0:41Well, not here here, but home track.
- 0:43Yeah, we have them race around the park, you know.
- 0:45Yeah.
- 0:46Home track, Davenport Speedway, um, with the Iowa Lottery duel at Davenport.
- 0:51Aaron Ryssel had the car to beat early in the night, took the pole after demolishing the track record by over a second with a lap of just eleven point four eight five seconds.
- 1:03Then he won his heat race, started on the pole for the dash, which he also won that, and then started on a pole for the A-mane, led the first seven, you know, like, well, I think it was six laps, and then just couldn't nail down the cushion on the top side.
- 1:18Larson ended up getting on the top side and just ran over everybody else.
- 1:22Yes.
- 1:22Kept going over the cushion, and that cost him as Aaron Reitzel ends up seventh by the end of the night and sees his championship points.
- 1:28He just dwindled.
- 1:29Just a little bit.
- 1:30Not a lot, but a little bit.
- 1:31Uh, Giovanni Selzy had a good bounce back night after his top ten streak was snapped last Saturday at Butler Motor Speedway where he finished 12th.
- 1:39Selzi won his heat race before finishing fifth in the dash and ending the night in third place.
- 1:44I caught up with him in the pit area afterwards.
- 1:48I was wondering how were you able to stay so ripped and committed on the bottom when Larson just did the Larson things and just looked on the top.
- 1:55Yeah, I mean the curb was so big early.
- 1:57Um when they tilted, they really knocked it down, but um the exit of two had a bunch of grip, and the exit of four was super square.
- 2:03Um you start with that third fourth row, it's stuck on the ground and figure out where to call it.
- 2:09Especially with that.
- 2:10You get two out of the cushion and you just take off.
- 2:13Yeah, definitely.
- 2:13Clean area is key.
- 2:14Of course, I am a Giovanni Selzi fan because I love chilies.
- 2:18Who doesn't love chilies?
- 2:19Yes, love the president day margaritas and the triple dippers.
- 2:22Yes.
- 2:23Brent Marks took a second straight, second place finish, but of course, Kyle Larson did Kyle Larson things as usual.
- 2:30Larson was trading sliders with Reitzel until lap seven when Larson took control for the rest of the way.
- 2:36Uh after the last restart with 20 to go, he proceeded to lap all the way up into the top ten.
- 2:41Yeah.
- 2:42And won by 3.275 seconds.
- 2:46Sky Larson's third win of the year with Interstate Batteries, high limit racing, his twelfth career win and fifth career rotor rooter midweek series victory, which is second only to Rico Avery's eight wins.
- 2:57I've met Rico Abra.
- 2:58He's a lot smaller than I thought.
- 3:00Nice guy, nice guy.
- 3:01Which he actually ended up fourth.
- 3:03But this event, it it had everything.
- 3:05We had one of the fastest high limit qualifying sessions in history.
- 3:08You had cars that could make the bottom work or make the cushion work.
- 3:12The weather was perfect.
- 3:14Crowd was great.
- 3:15And we saw wrecks in the mains, but they weren't total wreck fests either.
- 3:19Like it wasn't crazy, but we had we had cars flipping still.
- 3:22And then the fastest car at the end of the night ended up walking away with the victory.
- 3:26And it was a lot better than two years ago when High Limited had everything set up and then it just rained.
- 3:32Kind of like one they got like just a few hot laps in and then just gone.
- 3:37Rain.
- 3:38Come back two years later, and uh it all works out.
- 3:41But I was I was pretty impressed with how well everything was put together, especially with all these new venues in such a short period of time.
- 3:48It's starting tomorrow.
- 3:49High limit will race for four nights in a row across the upper Midwest and Larson, I think, is a part of three of them, I want to say, before heading to Michigan.
- 3:59Yes.
- 4:00For NASCAR obligations, but more on that later.
- 4:03But moving on, I want to talk about IndyCar now.
- 4:06This race had so much contact and very entire strategies.
- 4:09It's like the streets of Detroit uh were like very tiny.
- 4:13Yes, very narrow.
- 4:15Mucho narrow.
- 4:16Still another dominant outcome at the end of the day, which uh you'll love to hear in the world.
- 4:21Yes, for me personally.
- 4:22Yes.
- 4:23But I really thought Will Power had a chance to write the sinking ship that he's had this whole entire season with, you know, moving to Andretti uh this past weekend.
- 4:31He qualified second, led 18 laps, but late in the race got taken out by former Penske teammate Scott McLaughlin.
- 4:37And power was not happy about it.
- 4:38I mean, not 2011 New Hampshire double bird unhappy, but Power understandably was not happy, especially with how his day was going up to that point.
- 4:48Kyle Kirkwood looked like he was screwed while staying out to lead, and then he got caught with a caution, you know, while staying out.
- 4:56Uh, so he was forced to pit while other cars stayed out.
- 4:59However, he was aided by a bunch more cautions afterwards, including when rookie Mick Schumacher and 8500 runner up David Melukas got together in turn five while battling for third place, and Kirkwood eventually got up to second at the end.
- 5:13Graham Ray Hall, meanwhile, used some insane defensive driving in the closing laps to take third for his third podium of the year.
- 5:22Yes.
- 5:22I mean, somehow, he had like no push to pass up.
- 5:26Uh, but it was Alex Pillow once again crushing the NTT IndyCar Series field.
- 5:31Just why?
- 5:32I don't know how he managed to do it.
- 5:34But he started on pull and led 71 of the 100 laps on the day on route to a 3.0584 second victory.
- 5:41Kirkwood winds up second, like we mentioned, Ray Hall third to complete the podium, and then McLaren slash Chevrolet teammates in Pato Ward and Christian Lingard completed the top five at Chevrolet's home race.
- 5:52At least their engines didn't explode.
- 5:53Yeah, at least they didn't go kaboom.
- 5:56They managed to fix and find the part.
- 5:58So hopefully Chevy can play catch-up.
- 6:00But to be fair, it is Honda in IndyCar.
- 6:02So that's a tall task.
- 6:05It's Pelow's fourth win in just eight races this year as he now has a 62-point lead over Kirkwood over a race length as Pillow looks for title number five at a record tying fourth title in a row, which is just crazy.
- 6:18But to make it even more crazy, it's Pelow's 23rd career victory in just a one in just 106 starts.
- 6:24Yeah, that is kind of crazy.
- 6:25That's a that's a 21.7 winning percentage, and he's won 12 of the last 25 races dating back to the start of 2025.
- 6:33That's a 48% winning percentage.
- 6:35I mean, that's just incredible.
- 6:37I don't know how he does it.
- 6:38I don't either.
- 6:39But our uh picks and standings, uh, I still lead now by 169 over Evan.
- 6:44You jump into second and you chop like a whole 20 points.
- 6:47Yeah.
- 6:48If your pit road strategy did not pay off, I've been in a much better position.
- 6:51Because Pelo did win.
- 6:52My pick did win this week finally.
- 6:54Yes.
- 6:55My pick actually won a race.
- 6:56Problem is for you, is I finished second behind you.
- 7:00Yeah.
- 7:00So yeah.
- 7:01Bernardo is 223 back, Stacy 227 back, uh, Haley, 269 back, Noah, 275 back, and then uh Ethan and Zayn are new part-timers.
- 7:12Yes.
- 7:13Uh Ethan's got uh 20-point advantage over Zayn uh in their first race.
- 7:18But picks-wise, uh, I picked Kirkwood as we alluded to earlier, finished second, led five laps.
- 7:24You picked Alex Pelow, dominated the race, although at the same time it was not no easy stroke.
- 7:29The party like Barber was not even close.
- 7:32Haley with Joseph Newgarden ended up 10th, which is pretty impressive considering he's got that injured foot that he's driving around on.
- 7:39Stacey with bullpower ends up 22nd, DNF hang.
- 7:42Bernardo with Scott McLaughlin ends up 19th with that running with willpower.
- 7:47And Noah with Scott Dixon, 24th, ends up DNF, part-time picks.
- 7:52Uh Ethan with Pato Award ends up fourth, solid day best Chevy in the field at Chevy's home race.
- 7:59And Zayn with Dave Malucas ends up 18th after getting into it with Mick Schumacher towards the end of the race.
- 8:05But moving on away from IndyCar finally with NHRA now, the inaugural NHRA Potomac Nationals presented by Jiggs was definitely a resounding success as we saw some competitive racing all afternoon and all weekend.
- 8:18Although no record making runs like me and NHRA on Fox broadcaster Brian Lones talked about after the last event in Chicago two weeks ago.
- 8:27What do you think we're gonna see in Maryland in a couple weeks?
- 8:30Um in Maryland, our free racetrack have been there a bunch of times.
- 8:33Uh crowd is gonna be awesome, crazy.
- 8:35They have really direct fans there.
- 8:37And Royce Miller and those guys have been working 24 hours a day getting ready for us.
- 8:41So uh if the weather does what the weather can do in Maryland, if we get some cool weather, that place is at sea level and it could look a lot like Georgia with huge route.
- 8:49But still pretty dang competitive.
- 8:51In top field, it once again came down to the two Coletta Motorsports entries of Sean Langdon and Doug Coletta, and once again Langdon prevailed, beating Coletta with a 3.762 at 334.90 miles per hour.
- 9:05If you thought that, you know, oh maybe the Coletta Motorsports cars, they're gonna be pretty widely apart.
- 9:11Now they're pretty well evenly set up as Langdon, one by two ten thousandths of a second.
- 9:18It was a crazy finish.
- 9:19For sure.
- 9:20Uh it's around one inch, uh, at 334 miles an hour.
- 9:25Just an inch, just just that much.
- 9:27Yeah.
- 9:27Just that much.
- 9:28Liter, literally this much.
- 9:29It's one of the closest top field races in NHRA history.
- 9:32Langdon's fourth win of the year, including his third top field win in a row.
- 9:36It's the first time in five years that that's happened.
- 9:39Uh 2021, Steve Torrance won at Norwalk, Denver, and Sonoma.
- 9:43Langdon was dominant all weekend, qualifying number one, winning the mission too fast, too tasty challenge on Saturday, and setting the track record with 3.718 at 338 miles per hour before picking up the event win on Sunday.
- 9:57It's Coletta Motorsports' fifth Wally through the first seven events this year.
- 10:04That's quite a bit.
- 10:05Yes.
- 10:06And it's Langon's 26th career victory as the 2013 Top Field World Champion extends his points lead to 76 points over reigning top field world champion Doug Coletta, his teammate.
- 10:17And funny car, Austin Proc finally, finally, finally got a win.
- 10:22Yes, finally got a win.
- 10:23He broke through with the mission to Vast Tutation Challenge win on Saturday, and then the event win on Sunday, taking down Jack Beckman with a 3.956, uh, 324.20 miles per hour, holding off Beckman's 3.971 at 323.5 miles per hour for Proc's 22nd career win, but his first since joining Tasca Racing and Ford.
- 10:46The struggles of Austin Proc this year, post-leaving John Force Racing, where you know, last offseason he left after winning back-to-back funny car world titles to join Tasca and Ford.
- 10:56The the struggles have been well documented.
- 10:58Yes.
- 10:59For sure.
- 10:59They D and Q'd at Gainesville before four straight first round losses after that.
- 11:03But we were in Chicago a couple weeks ago where they advanced to the semifinals.
- 11:08They were able to put it all together this weekend, which is what the rest of the funny car field hoped they would never accomplish.
- 11:13Yeah, because if when Proc gets going, he's gonna keep going.
- 11:17Proc has now cracked the top ten in funny card points, which will be the 10 in contention for the championship during the countdown, which starts after race 14 with the U.S.
- 11:25Nationals in Indianapolis.
- 11:26We are seven events done now.
- 11:29So we're halfway through the regular season.
- 11:31It seems like it's just flying by at this point for something.
- 11:33Ron caps with a semifinal finish this past weekend took the points lead from JR Todd and Leeds Todd by 16 points.
- 11:41The top five and funny car points are separated by just 55 points.
- 11:45So all of them are less than like three rounds apart.
- 11:48Very tight there.
- 11:49Um heading into Epping, New Hampshire next week, where Todd is the defending event winner in funny car.
- 11:54So something interesting there.
- 11:56In Pro Stock, it was Greg Anderson taking another victory, collecting his second win of the season and 114th career victory.
- 12:03Anderson took down KB Titan teammate and ranning Pro Stock World Champion Dallas Glenn in the final round with a 6.472 at 212.46 miles per hour.
- 12:14Anderson now holds a 10-1 final round advantage over Glenn, who had a huge starting line advantage as Anderson was trying not to replicate his 96,000th of a second red light at Chicago two weeks ago that uh threw away that victory.
- 12:30But Glenn's car ran into trouble early down the track, so that gave Anders Anderson the easy victory.
- 12:36Glenn now only leads Anderson by 11 points heading into race eight out of twenty, which as we alluded to was in Epic, New Hampshire.
- 12:43Next week is race two of three on this unofficial eastern swing.
- 12:48We got Bristol in two weeks, and in in Pro Stock Motorcycle, Angie Smith got redemption for A, for bike transmission breaking at Chicago two weeks ago, and B in honor of husband Matt Smith, who was not racing this week.
- 13:02Yeah, he was out with injury.
- 13:03Well, since injury, but gallstones.
- 13:06Yeah.
- 13:06Painful in hospital.
- 13:08But he was at the track on Sunday watching Angie Smith dominate and secure a win.
- 13:14It was it's been a while since she's won.
- 13:16But Angie beat Ryan O'Lair in the final round with a 6.683 at 201.52 miles per hour for her first win since the 2022 NHRA finals.
- 13:26It's been almost four years since her last win, but it's her fourth career win and the 200th national event win for winning in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing series.
- 13:38That deserves a golf clap.
- 13:40Yes.
- 13:41Uh Angie Smith now ranks second in pro stock motorcycle points, 26 points behind defending world champion Richard Gatson.
- 13:50But the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing series returns to action this weekend, June 5th through the 7th, with, as we mentioned, the NHRA New England Nationals presented by B Pro Auto at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire.
- 14:02Great track up there.
- 14:03Yes.
- 14:03Very nice.
- 14:03I mean, first first we were getting the Maryland crab cakes, and now we're getting lobster.
- 14:07Yes.
- 14:08But heading to Nashville now, we'll start with the truck series.
- 14:11They finally got rolling after like three hour rain delay, and uh I think the big storyline, uh, broadcast issues.
- 14:18Yes.
- 14:18I don't know what was going on there.
- 14:20I mean, for me, it's like there was absolutely no broadcast on.
- 14:23Like, I still heard the the sounds of the trucks, and I heard the sounds of like all their graphics, and I heard the outside noise, but like in terms of the broadcast, like nothing.
- 14:33Nonexistent.
- 14:35Nothing.
- 14:35Which on one hand, I didn't have to hear Jamie Little, but on the other hand, like, because it was so late at night, I fell asleep with like 60 laps to go.
- 14:44So, yeah, but just in general, like, as much as we've given so many bad things about the broadcast, and most of them they deserve, you know, not being able to hear the broadcast at all is just terrible.
- 14:58Yes, it's just it's it's just terrible.
- 15:00It's even worse than a bad broadcast because a bad broadcast is still better than no broadcast.
- 15:04Lane Riggs just took off into the lead, and I mean, he won stage one, he won stage two, just another dominant performance by Lane Riggs.
- 15:14A lot of cautions.
- 15:15Yes, I don't know what it is with the truck series, with so many cautions and just terror.
- 15:21I don't know why.
- 15:22I should call it the caution truck series.
- 15:24Yes.
- 15:24At this point, we might as well call it the caution truck series.
- 15:27Of course, after I fell asleep, I find out later that Caden Honeycutt had a battery issue, which took him out of top five contention that was not uh great, and everybody likes to hype up this truck race off of the finish, with Roger Carew leading until the white flag and then Lane Riggs got past him uh to win.
- 15:46But this truck race was not good.
- 15:48No, overall racing was not great.
- 15:50The racing was not great.
- 15:52The broadcast didn't exist, and I mean the rain didn't help.
- 15:56Yeah, I fell asleep with 60 to go, that's how bad it was.
- 16:00Was the finish cool?
- 16:01Yes.
- 16:02Was the race good?
- 16:03No.
- 16:03No, not at all.
- 16:04No, not even close.
- 16:05But Lane Riggs, first one at Nashville, third win of the year, including second in a row, and his eighth career win.
- 16:12Caruth ends up second, Chandler Smith ends up third, Ross Chast in fourth, and Tyler Ankram completing the top five are picks and standings.
- 16:20Stacy has taken back the points lead once again, uh by 16 over Bernardo, 32 over Evan.
- 16:26You fall from uh the lead back to third.
- 16:29Yeah.
- 16:29I'm 108 back, Haley's 117 back, Noah's 144 back, and then Ethan has a 18-point advantage over Zane, uh, part-time picks-wise, our picks.
- 16:42I picked Honeycut.
- 16:44He was running in the top five for most of the night, has the battery issue, ends up 27th.
- 16:48Evan, you end up with Ben Rhodes, ends up 28th.
- 16:51That's that's kind of how you your points lead went bye-bye.
- 16:54Yeah.
- 16:54Haley with Stuart Friesen, uh, solid run in six.
- 16:57Stacy took the points lead via Chandler Smith, who ends up third.
- 17:00Good bounce back after finishing 30th at Charlotte with the hitting the inside wall.
- 17:05Bernardo with Corey LaJoy ends up 22nd.
- 17:08Just bad day for the ram trucks.
- 17:10Yeah.
- 17:11Bad day for the Ram trucks.
- 17:12I thought you were typing them up at having good trucks again.
- 17:15Yeah.
- 17:15It's like they had good trucks, and it's like we were giving them uh praise, and it's like, good job, you have good ram trucks, and then there's no.
- 17:24They were practically a no-show at Nashville.
- 17:26Except for the ram trucks that ended up wrecking out of the roots.
- 17:29Noah with uh Clayton Green, just random pick, whatever.
- 17:32He he didn't really care, ends up 29th.
- 17:34Uh part-timer wise, Ethan with Christian Eckis ends up eighth, and Zayn with Daniel Henrick ends up 15th.
- 17:41So a couple solid results there.
- 17:43Moving on now to the O'Reilly series.
- 17:46At first, it looked like Jesse Love's race.
- 17:49Um, I do not agree with Jesse Love putting uh Cletus McFarlane the lap down early because at the end of stage one, or towards the end of it, he had like a six-second lead.
- 17:58Yeah.
- 17:59And Cletus was his teammate, so it's like, eh.
- 18:03I don't know if I really agree with that.
- 18:04And then Cletus had to fight for the free pass, and then he did a spinning, yeah, which really kind of kick-started his bad night.
- 18:11But then Justin Algayer ended up taking the lead at the start of stage two, and uh Love and Algayer were uh battling throughout much of stage two.
- 18:19Kyle Larson was been he was getting a head start on the dang high limit sprint car.
- 18:25He was practically drifting around turn four in Nashville because he about got wrecked, but he of course managed to save it.
- 18:31And I guess it was a prelude to him winning last night in the high limit sprint car over at Davenport Speedway.
- 18:37But the big change of this race was Jesse Love's loose wheel has to end up pitting, and that's what really uh took him out of this race.
- 18:45And he was the only other car that could really compete with Algar this weekend.
- 18:48Well, I mean, Brent Cruz went all the way from 33rd up to second and into the lead, and I think I really thought Brent Cruz was gonna win this race.
- 18:57I thought he had the car to hold off Algar, but they battled for the lead after final pit stops, and Algar took the lead with 19 to go and held on to win Justin Olgar.
- 19:09Second straight win at Nashville, his fourth win of the year, his third overall win at Nashville, and it's the 32nd career O'Reilly series victory, which breaks a tie with Jack Ingram for sixth all time in O'Reilly's wins.
- 19:22I feel like Algayer is the O'Reilly's of uh the O'Reilly's equivalent of Denny Hamlin.
- 19:26It's just he could retire.
- 19:28He probably will retire soon, but it's like it's like both of them, it's like they've never looked better.
- 19:33See on Matt Crafton before he retired.
- 19:36Yeah, pretty much.
- 19:36It depends on who you ask, though.
- 19:38Yeah.
- 19:38Depends really depends on who you ask on the whole situation.
- 19:42Brent Cruz uh in second, William Swallows in third, Sam Mayer in fourth, and Brandon Jones completes the top five.
- 19:49JGR, three cars on the top five.
- 19:51Good night for that.
- 19:52Pre-precursor to cup.
- 19:54I guess, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:56But our O'Reilly's picks and standings.
- 19:58Uh, I still lead in the O'Reilly's standings now by 131 over Stacy, 214 over Haley, 259 over Evan, 271 in Bernardo, 377 over Noah, and then Zane has a 15-point advantage over Ethan, uh, part-timer-wise.
- 20:15Uh the big reason why I still have the O'Reilly's ladies is because I picked Justin Legar, who got the win and the passive slap.
- 20:22Evan, you picked Corey Day, ends up sixth.
- 20:24Very quiet.
- 20:25Very quiet night for Corey Day.
- 20:27It's usually not a Corey Day type performance.
- 20:31Usually he's Checkers and Rickers.
- 20:33Yeah, yeah.
- 20:34Um Haley with Sammy Smith ends up 10th.
- 20:37Stacy picked Jesse Love, ends up 16th after pitting for that loose reel.
- 20:41Started on pole due to the metric, led the most laps, but just not Jesse Love's night.
- 20:46Bernardo with Sheldon Creed ends up 15th after starting towards the back.
- 20:50Noah with Brent Cruz started basically in the back, but ends up all the way to second.
- 20:54And then part-timer wise, Ethan with Taylor Gray ends up ninth.
- 20:58Zane with Carson Coppel ends up seventh.
- 21:00So just solid results there.
- 21:02Cup wise, Danny Hamlin, man, starts on poll due to the metric, immediately jumps the start.
- 21:09That was bad.
- 21:10I can't lie.
- 21:10Yeah, it wasn't even close.
- 21:12It wasn't it wasn't like Richard Spring 2024, although he should have been penalized for that.
- 21:17We don't talk about that as a True Rex fan.
- 21:19But jumps the start, gets sent to the back.
- 21:22Somehow AJ Almendinger won in a photo finish for stage one.
- 21:27I don't really know how he did that.
- 21:28It must have just been all the strategies, but it bit him later with a break rulers.
- 21:32Yeah, break roaders this weekend, kaboom.
- 21:35Yes, they went, they went kaboom.
- 21:37Suarez backed up a 600 win last week by winning stage two.
- 21:42But towards the end of this race, the big thing towards the end of this race, five lap shootout with the JGR cards, the Joe Gibbs racing cards, the Joe Gibbs racing battle that we missed out at Charlotte.
- 21:52Yes.
- 21:52That we did not get the deserved battle between JGR.
- 21:56Yes.
- 21:56Denny Hamill comes all the way back.
- 21:59Sunday Somehow manages to come all the way back after the jump start on lap one to finally prevail at Nashville after like he should have already had like three wins.
- 22:10Literally, he should have had three to four wins.
- 22:12Should have won in twenty-two before all of JGR decided let's all pit with five to go and finish like twentieth.
- 22:19Should have won in twenty-four until Austin Cinder opened up the gates of hell in that race, which ultimately led to Joey Lagano winning the championship.
- 22:28The Lagooner.
- 22:29Yes.
- 22:29And then last year had a top five car and had a winning car, but ended up third.
- 22:35Just wasn't his night last year, but it w it was somehow was this year.
- 22:38Second win of the year after Las Vegas.
- 22:40Third, I guess if we count the All-Star race, which was also on concrete.
- 22:4562nd career win, which is one away from tying the late Kyle Bush.
- 22:51Moment in silence.
- 22:52And it's the eighth win for Toyota this year through 15 events.
- 22:56Toyota continues to just dominate.
- 22:58Dominate throughout the whole year, for sure.
- 23:02Christopher Bell with a second straight second place finish.
- 23:05Chase Briscoe in third, completing the JGR one, two, three.
- 23:09Uh at least they didn't wreck each other.
- 23:11Yeah, they they've learned their mistakes.
- 23:13Yeah.
- 23:13Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
- 23:15fourth in the Cowboys tribute scheme and Shane Van Gisberger, man, fifth in another great oval star after Charlotte the previous week.
- 23:23SVG led this race.
- 23:25First career top five on Oval.
- 23:27Yes.
- 23:28I don't I mean originally he finished seventh, but then in the whole mess with Oh, we got a crash.
- 23:34Yeah.
- 23:35Average Dill Jr.
- 23:36jump scare.
- 23:37Yep.
- 23:37Big record start finish uh with Reddick, Elliott, and Blaney.
- 23:40They all finished sixth through eighth in that order.
- 23:43Hamlin in the replay after is like, oh, that's expensive.
- 23:46Yeah.
- 23:47Hamlin wins at Nashville, but at what cost?
- 23:49Yeah, at a cost.
- 23:50At a cost.
- 23:51That car is destroyed.
- 23:52Yep.
- 23:53But NASCAR heads to Michigan next week with Arca Trucks and Cub.
- 23:57O'Reilly's finally gets an off week after 16 straight weekends of racing.
- 24:01That's worse than the Cubs standings.
- 24:03I know, that is horrible.
- 24:04I can't lie.
- 24:04Yeah, but Cup picks and standings.
- 24:06I still lead the Cup standings now by 104 over Haley, 152 over Stacy, 172 over Bernardo, 185 over Evan, 280 over Noah, and then Ethan leads Zane by 27 in the part-timers picks.
- 24:22Pick our picks wise, speaking of which, I picked Denny Hamlin.
- 24:26So another win this weekend, this time on the cup side.
- 24:30I don't know how Hamlin won this race after jumping the start.
- 24:33I guess his car was that good.
- 24:34And technically, uh by one lap, I led the most laps in this race.
- 24:38And I also had the fastest lap, which I figured I'd get that.
- 24:41Evan, you picked Joey Logano, ends up 14th, literally did nothing.
- 24:45Yeah.
- 24:46Lagooner did nothing again.
- 24:47But you led a lap at some point.
- 24:49I don't I remember that.
- 24:51Yes.
- 24:51It must have been on all the pit strategy, which led to all the break rotors.
- 24:55Yes.
- 24:55Haley with Austin Cindrick started in the back, finishes in the back after getting caught up in uh another wreck, ends up 26th.
- 25:03Stacy with Ryan Blaney ends up eighth, leads 46 laps.
- 25:07Bernardo with Larson ends up 23rd, 56 laps, led the second most laps.
- 25:13Somehow Larson has not finished 22nd ever in the Cup Series.
- 25:17It's all he needs to complete the the full set.
- 25:20I mean, he was close to Watkins Lane, he was close at Nashville.
- 25:23I just I don't know how Larson manages to do it.
- 25:26And he was the cause of that mystery smoke in turn 40.
- 25:28Yeah, I was wondering what happened with the last one.
- 25:30Yeah, I was wondering what that was.
- 25:30It was Larson with, I believe, a flat tire.
- 25:32He spun to him and pit road, but no caution.
- 25:34NASCAR learning not to throw a caution.
- 25:36NASCAR did not throw a caution.
- 25:38Because they want they don't want another 2024.
- 25:40Nashville.
- 25:42We don't talk about that.
- 25:43The Lagooner.
- 25:44Noah with Chase Elliott ends up seventh, leads a few laps, and then part-timers-wise, Ethan with Reddick ends up sixth, leads 42 laps.
- 25:52Most of those due to uh right after Hamlin jumped the restart.
- 25:55Yeah.
- 25:55And then Zane with Byron ends up 30th DNF.
- 25:59William Byron needs help.
- 26:01Yeah.
- 26:01Hendrick honestly, entirely is helpful.
- 26:03Hendrick entirely needs help, but like, I mean, Bowman's kind of gotten screwed this year due to existential things.
- 26:11Elliot has two wins, so like I feel like Elliot's okay.
- 26:15I mean he doesn't have consistent speed.
- 26:18He doesn't he doesn't he doesn't have consistent speed.
- 26:21Larson, he hasn't won in over a year, but like it's not due to like a trying.
- 26:25Yeah.
- 26:26He has speed, it's just he hasn't gotten a win.
- 26:28Byron's the one who really needs some serious help.
- 26:31I mean I don't know what's going on with Byron.
- 26:32I feel like at best Byron has like an 8th to 12th place car.
- 26:36At best.
- 26:37And at worst, he ends up 30th with a wrecked race car.
- 26:40Byron needs some serious help.
- 26:43But last but not least, uh, the House Host Bar segment.
- 26:45How is Carson Hostbar?
- 26:47Uh, once again, did not run the 77 truck at Nashville.
- 26:50This time gives it to Jesse Love, who ends up wrecking the truck.
- 26:53But you know what?
- 26:54That's what happens, I guess.
- 26:55In the cup race, the pit crew somehow was not horrendous.
- 26:59They did a good job.
- 27:02I'm proud of them.
- 27:04Not not Chili's go get a triple dipper worthy, but you know what?
- 27:07You get a president of margarita.
- 27:09Yes.
- 27:10They deserve a presidente margarita for all their hard work.
- 27:13But hostbar managed to climb up and finish in 10th when it was all said and done after starting in 17th.
- 27:20He took the wrong lane.
- 27:21He's he said this, he took the wrong uh lane with the first tires.
- 27:24Stenhouse ended up taking the right lane.
- 27:26He charged all the way up to fourth, and host bar was still 10th.
- 27:29Good wreck avoidance at the end of the race.
- 27:32Got some drift style points drifting in turn one.
- 27:35But sadly, no more chilies for the cup ride this year.
- 27:38But hey, I mean, Chili's will be uh back on his late model.
- 27:42Host bar will run Wednesday and Thursday as part of the dirt late model dream at Eldora before heading to his home track at Michigan this weekend to run both trucks and cup.
- 27:53But the late model, it looks like the Intimidante scheme.
- 27:56Like the Cup ride.
- 27:57I was so happy.
- 27:59If you can't tell, I love chilies.
- 28:02Chilies, chilies, chilies.
- 28:05I love chilies.
- 28:06Who doesn't love triple dippers at chilies?
- 28:08Who doesn't love their mozzarella success?
- 28:10The things are so good.
- 28:11Yes.
- 28:11Go to triple dipper order Natural Hot Mozzarella, uh, Big Mouth bites, and honey chipotle wings.
- 28:20For for me, it's the honey chipotle mop sticks, honey chipotle tenders, and I'll get the big mouth bites with a coke zero.
- 28:27You really love the honey chipotle.
- 28:28Oh, yeah, and I also get a coke zero, but you really love honey chipotle.
- 28:31I do, that's so good.
- 28:32I split the natural hot and the honey chipotle.
- 28:34I split them both.
- 28:35And also, I I mean the crispers are good.
- 28:37The problem is the crispers, half the time they're too crispy.
- 28:41And it's like it's like if you try and air fry some chicken, but you air fry it too long.
- 28:46And it's like extra crispy.
- 28:47And it's like, I like extra crispy on a lot of things, but not not not on chilies, chicken crispers.
- 28:53That's why I get the wings.
- 28:54I get the wings boneless because I don't like boneless.
- 28:56But enough about chilies.
- 28:57I mean, I love chilies.
- 28:58We love chilies.
- 28:59We can go on a whole episode about chilies.
- 29:01We can do a whole episode about chilies.
- 29:02We really need chilies to sponsor.
- 29:04But enough about chilies.
- 29:06Finally, done with a full house weekend, and it's ironic because it was a full house weekend already, and then we just added the high limit sprint cars on top of that.
- 29:13Yes.
- 29:14But lots of action, including uh me graduating.
- 29:17I am a high school graduate.
- 29:19I'm so proud.
- 29:20Yeah.
- 29:20I am a high school graduate.
- 29:22But, anyways, continue on with another uh field weekend coming up.
- 29:26NASCAR is in Michigan, like we've mentioned.
- 29:29Uh Anthray is in Epic, New Hampshire, like we also mentioned.
- 29:32And IndyCar heads to Gateway under the lights.
- 29:35Hopefully don't have another flip.
- 29:36Hopefully, New Garden does not flip.
- 29:38Please don't flip.
- 29:39I picked him.
- 29:40Please don't flip.
- 29:42Please win like you've done five times before at Gateway in the nine years that they nine years that they've ran it.
- 29:49Yeah, hopefully we don't come back from commercial car upside down.
- 29:52Yeah.
- 29:52Please please don't, please don't flip.
- 29:56Penske needs help.
- 29:57But to be fair, Newgarden won at Phoenix.
- 30:00So yeah.
- 30:00But to be fair, also, Newgarden has broke foot.
- 30:03Yes.
- 30:03They're not good.
- 30:04But we'll preview all the action on Friday.
- 30:07But that's all we got for today's episode of Throttle Floor Podcast.
- 30:11Tune in, listen, download, watch on Spotify, podcast, YouTube, check out the chill photography and throttle for podcasts, Instagram, TikToks.
- 30:18I will have the photos on high limit sprint cars coming out later this week.
- 30:22So uh look out for those.
- 30:24But that's all we got.
- 30:26And we'll preview all of it on a Friday.
- 30:28Have a good night, y'all.
