Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. After ten yard line second to day free
- 0:08Speaker 1: wide receivers now in motion has Bumpus left to right,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Julius Jones a single setback map pumpfecks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line. He throws it into the end zone. Touchdown.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpus with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone our ten yard touchdown reception for Puppus and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. You're
- 0:33Speaker 1: listening to Hawk Talk Recap edition. I'm Michael Bumpus along
- 0:37Speaker 1: with the NASA chold with the Seahawks beat the forty
- 0:40Speaker 1: nine ers twenty eight to twenty one, and like we
- 0:43Speaker 1: always do, let's getting the trenches with Ray Roberts. It's
- 0:48Speaker 1: time to go inside the trenches with former Seahawk Ray Roberts.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Big Ray Hawks get the win. How are you feeling,
- 0:57Speaker 1: I'm telling pretty good man. You know, like you know
- 0:59Speaker 1: a win and as a win, as a win, as
- 1:01Speaker 1: a win. You know, some people can get like caught
- 1:03Speaker 1: up in the details of it or what it looked
- 1:05Speaker 1: like or what it should have looked like. But at
- 1:07Speaker 1: the end of the day, you got you got a
- 1:09Speaker 1: mark in the win column and not wanting the losing column. Yeah,
- 1:13Speaker 1: So this offense seems to struggle early in the game.
- 1:15Speaker 1: They went five consecutive drives when they went three. Now,
- 1:18Speaker 1: didn't really get things going until the last drive before
- 1:21Speaker 1: the half. What did you see that allowed this offense
- 1:24Speaker 1: to kind of open things up? Well early in the game,
- 1:27Speaker 1: it just didn't seem like, you know, they were quickening
- 1:30Speaker 1: on all the cylinders, like it was everyone took a
- 1:33Speaker 1: turn in kind of having a mistake, whether it was
- 1:36Speaker 1: along the offensive line or a bad throw or a
- 1:39Speaker 1: bad route or what have you. But it seems like,
- 1:42Speaker 1: you know, right before the half they got some rhythm going.
- 1:44Speaker 1: They kind of picked up the tempo a little bit. Uh,
- 1:47Speaker 1: they were able to get in the end zone and
- 1:48Speaker 1: tie to tie the game up, and uh and for
- 1:52Speaker 1: it had you had to go into the halftime feeling
- 1:54Speaker 1: good because as bad as you had played, you were
- 1:57Speaker 1: still in the game. It was a it was a time,
- 1:59Speaker 1: It was a time all game, you know. And so
- 2:01Speaker 1: like there was at one point there were five three
- 2:03Speaker 1: and ounce in a row and three of those five
- 2:05Speaker 1: three and ounce ended and sacked, So they were able
- 2:08Speaker 1: to recapture some of what they're capable of doing right
- 2:11Speaker 1: before the half, and they carried over into the second half.
- 2:14Speaker 1: So the offense finds a way to get going. They
- 2:16Speaker 1: struggle initially, but the defense it was a bimbadone break.
- 2:21Speaker 1: You look at the stats and you're gonna say, man,
- 2:22Speaker 1: this defense had a tough day, but really that wasn't
- 2:25Speaker 1: the case. What you see with the defense, well, you
- 2:27Speaker 1: know what I saw is like, uh, like I said
- 2:30Speaker 1: this before, but I remember in the preseason, we're interviewing
- 2:33Speaker 1: um Ben mc curvin and he said, we asked him about,
- 2:36Speaker 1: you know, the coverage in the secondary and he said, hey,
- 2:38Speaker 1: you know, we just all need to be a little stickier.
- 2:40Speaker 1: And it seems like, uh, yesterday that the secondary was stickier, stickier.
- 2:45Speaker 1: So you know, Diggs came up with an interception, Neil
- 2:48Speaker 1: came off the bench and was playing with a lot
- 2:50Speaker 1: of energy and and uh and being really close and
- 2:52Speaker 1: around the receivers a lot. You know, um Jamal Adams
- 2:56Speaker 1: had a big hit on Kittle and the end zone
- 2:58Speaker 1: that dislodging from the from the foot ball, so it
- 3:00Speaker 1: just seemed as if the energy was different, the stickiness
- 3:05Speaker 1: to the receivers were different, and then they were able to,
- 3:08Speaker 1: you know, even though Garoppolo was getting the ball out
- 3:10Speaker 1: fast at times, um, we were able to get you know,
- 3:14Speaker 1: some pressure on him. And then when they put in
- 3:16Speaker 1: the young guy, the offense became When they put in
- 3:18Speaker 1: Trey Lance, their offense became kind of one dimensional. So
- 3:21Speaker 1: they picked up some yards where he kind of dropped
- 3:24Speaker 1: back the pass and ran the ball, or some running
- 3:26Speaker 1: plays that had for him, but it never felt like
- 3:28Speaker 1: he was going to be a real threat to to
- 3:30Speaker 1: what we're trying to get done on the offense, I mean,
- 3:33Speaker 1: on the defense or at the end of the day.
- 3:34Speaker 1: It just seemed like they chopped up a lot of yardish,
- 3:36Speaker 1: but some empty yardish. But I felt at that point
- 3:39Speaker 1: their defense had a handle on the game and what
- 3:42Speaker 1: they were trying to get accomplished. So this segment is
- 3:45Speaker 1: called getting the trenches with Big Ray. Let's go on
- 3:48Speaker 1: the trenches, Man Rand the shells out. Jamarco Jones is out.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Sedigo boy. He had to step in. It looked like
- 3:54Speaker 1: he struggled early in the game. How did he kind
- 3:56Speaker 1: of fix things? Well, you know, it was prising the
- 4:00Speaker 1: guy who you know was out since the preseason and
- 4:03Speaker 1: just kind of working his way back off of the
- 4:06Speaker 1: injury list. And then you know, Jamarco Jones, uh, you
- 4:09Speaker 1: know has issues uh to start the game with and
- 4:12Speaker 1: can't play, and so here he is like his first
- 4:15Speaker 1: real minutes after not playing you know, the whole preseason
- 4:18Speaker 1: is in you know, live action. So early on the
- 4:21Speaker 1: very first pass play, uh, you know, gave up a sack.
- 4:24Speaker 1: But then after that he ended up playing you know,
- 4:25Speaker 1: pretty solid football and if you go buy some of
- 4:28Speaker 1: the pro football focused stuff, he was one of the
- 4:30Speaker 1: higher graded uh offensive players of the game. I think
- 4:33Speaker 1: he graded like in the you know, mid sixties or something, so,
- 4:36Speaker 1: which isn't bad for a guy that's just basically walking
- 4:39Speaker 1: out of the training room and onto the on the
- 4:41Speaker 1: football field to play you know, full speed, live football
- 4:44Speaker 1: against guys that can really get out to the quarterback.
- 4:46Speaker 1: So hopefully some of those things will start to you know,
- 4:49Speaker 1: hills themselves and we can get brand Brandon shell back.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I like Cedric and I like uh Jamarco, but shell
- 4:56Speaker 1: just has a different presence at right tackle. So hopefully
- 4:59Speaker 1: U he can be closer to getting back this week,
- 5:02Speaker 1: So the Hawses getting done on Sunday is going to
- 5:04Speaker 1: be a short week. They turn around and play the
- 5:06Speaker 1: Rams on Thursday night football at home. How do they
- 5:09Speaker 1: keep this your favorite word, momentum going going into Thursday. Yeah,
- 5:15Speaker 1: I think it's gonna be. This is gonna be a
- 5:16Speaker 1: big challenge on both sides of the ball in the interior,
- 5:20Speaker 1: you know. And and so obviously the last time we
- 5:22Speaker 1: saw the Rams and the Seahawks comment, it just did
- 5:25Speaker 1: not look pleasant at all. They were running the ball
- 5:28Speaker 1: on against the defense and then we couldn't block you know,
- 5:32Speaker 1: Aaron Donald or or a four. They were just you know,
- 5:35Speaker 1: all over the quarterback. And that was in the playoff game.
- 5:38Speaker 1: So it's gonna be a challenge, and especially on a
- 5:41Speaker 1: short week. So it's going to be important that the
- 5:43Speaker 1: offense gets into a rhythm early. You can't start with
- 5:45Speaker 1: five three and outs in three sacks to end those,
- 5:49Speaker 1: so you're gonna have to, you know, get that running game,
- 5:51Speaker 1: going to kind of settle the offense down. Take the
- 5:53Speaker 1: underneath throws when they're there, take your shots when they're there.
- 5:57Speaker 1: So it's gonna have to be a real um making
- 6:01Speaker 1: the Rams defense defend the entire field. If we get
- 6:04Speaker 1: one dimensional on offense, it's gonna be really tough sledding.
- 6:07Speaker 1: And then on defense, I really think that, you know,
- 6:10Speaker 1: the pass rush is getting better and better every week.
- 6:13Speaker 1: When when Money and Woods are in there pushing the
- 6:15Speaker 1: middle of the pocket, it allows those outside guys to
- 6:18Speaker 1: get a little bit closer to the quarterback. You know,
- 6:20Speaker 1: Daryl Taylor now has had a sack on Sunday as
- 6:23Speaker 1: three sacks and four games. Carlos Dunlaps should have had
- 6:26Speaker 1: two sacks and was held on both calls and only
- 6:29Speaker 1: got a holding call on one of them. So they're
- 6:31Speaker 1: getting they're getting closer to the quarterback. But you know,
- 6:34Speaker 1: they have some weapons over there on the rams with
- 6:37Speaker 1: Stafford been a new quarterback, the guy that has a
- 6:39Speaker 1: big arm, and McVay seems to have more confidence in
- 6:42Speaker 1: him than he had in golf. So it's going to
- 6:45Speaker 1: be a challenge for this team against that team on
- 6:48Speaker 1: the short week, because this game has always been a
- 6:51Speaker 1: really tough get for the Seahawks. Should be a good one,
- 6:56Speaker 1: but we're glad they are two and two. They can
- 6:57Speaker 1: get it done against the forty nine, and you get
- 6:59Speaker 1: it done on every Monday, Big Ray. Appreciate you man,
- 7:03Speaker 1: Thanks for having me brother. All right, next time, Okay,
- 7:07Speaker 1: let's bring in NASA Choby. Let's break this thing down.
- 7:09Speaker 1: What happened, See what happened at first? What had happened
- 7:15Speaker 1: was un hard knock. What had happened was bump. It's
- 7:20Speaker 1: a good feeling this week, Seahawks fans. You should be excited,
- 7:22Speaker 1: you should be happy. Back in the wind column. It's
- 7:25Speaker 1: been a disappointing last couple of weeks for the Seahawks,
- 7:27Speaker 1: but they bounced back back on the right track as
- 7:29Speaker 1: they beat Timpatistico forty nine Ers twenty eight to twenty one,
- 7:33Speaker 1: and honestly, bump. They just looked like a completely different
- 7:35Speaker 1: team against the forty nine ers, but kind of an
- 7:38Speaker 1: old Seahawks fashion. They didn't start that way. Seahawks give
- 7:41Speaker 1: up in eight play, seven year one yard touchdown drive
- 7:44Speaker 1: on the Niners opening possession, then went three and out
- 7:47Speaker 1: on the first five drives offensively, So m it didn't
- 7:52Speaker 1: It didn't look good early on. I know people are panicking.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I know Seahawks Twitter as it always does. It's going insane, people.
- 7:57Speaker 1: The world has fallen. We're gonna be Owen you know whatever,
- 8:00Speaker 1: but no, they got things going. Late in the second quarter.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Things hard to change a little bit. Had a great
- 8:05Speaker 1: drive six place eighty yards and do with a twelve
- 8:07Speaker 1: yard at DK Metcalf touchdown. Quandre Diggs got involved in
- 8:11Speaker 1: the interception, first one of the team this season, and
- 8:15Speaker 1: then they really got going in the third quarter. They
- 8:16Speaker 1: had back to back scoring drives. Russell Wilson had an
- 8:19Speaker 1: incredible run, still got some wiggle and then connected with
- 8:22Speaker 1: Freddy Swin and another crazy play man so that this
- 8:25Speaker 1: dude can still play. Man. It was really good to
- 8:26Speaker 1: see them get off to a good start. Man. We
- 8:29Speaker 1: saw old school Russell spinning out of a sack, finding
- 8:32Speaker 1: Freddie Swain, getting those legs going, scoring a touchdown. The
- 8:35Speaker 1: thing I liked about Russell Wilson's performance is that he
- 8:38Speaker 1: didn't force anything, even when it was when things were slow,
- 8:42Speaker 1: when you could have taken a shot you're not supposed
- 8:44Speaker 1: to take, man. He took care of the football and
- 8:47Speaker 1: made things happen, and the Hawks took advantage of some
- 8:50Speaker 1: forty nine er mistakes. The forty nine ers fumble. You
- 8:52Speaker 1: got a short field, you have to score them those situations, right,
- 8:55Speaker 1: Diggs gets an interception, changes the momentum of the game,
- 8:58Speaker 1: you get a short film, you punch for a touchdown.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Those are what good good teams do. Paul Moyer said,
- 9:03Speaker 1: He goes, man, how many teams can play this bad?
- 9:05Speaker 1: All right, give up all these yards and still win
- 9:07Speaker 1: a football game. I mean, the Hawks is fine ways
- 9:10Speaker 1: to win, and I think it comes down to that
- 9:13Speaker 1: neutral mindset that Russell's always talking about. Look, you're never down,
- 9:16Speaker 1: you're never up. Just stay in the game and you'll
- 9:19Speaker 1: be good to go. But Nights just couldn't get things
- 9:20Speaker 1: going in the second half. We saw the rookie Trey Lance.
- 9:23Speaker 1: That offense changes when he's in there. It's not that misdirection.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna take a couple of shots here. It was
- 9:29Speaker 1: like who described it the best? I think someone said
- 9:32Speaker 1: on the Seahawks it was like a high school football
- 9:34Speaker 1: offense where you just put your best athlete in the
- 9:36Speaker 1: backfield and you try to allow him to make some
- 9:39Speaker 1: plays with his feet. And again the Hawks took advantage
- 9:42Speaker 1: of that situation. Yeah, I think Trey Lance is incredibly athletic.
- 9:45Speaker 1: I think he's going to be a good quarterback in
- 9:47Speaker 1: this league. He's just clearly not ready yet, And I
- 9:49Speaker 1: mean that's getting thrown in the fire like that. Coach
- 9:52Speaker 1: Hannan talked all week in all season that Jimmy Garoppolos
- 9:55Speaker 1: are starting quarterback. He has made that very clear. And
- 9:58Speaker 1: you know, I'm sure Trey Lance isn't get the same
- 10:00Speaker 1: kind of raps that Jimmy g was getting. So getting
- 10:02Speaker 1: thrown out there is a tough thing for a rookie
- 10:04Speaker 1: like that. But he did okay, he saw he had moments.
- 10:07Speaker 1: The Seahawks helped him out with a blown coverage gifted
- 10:09Speaker 1: them a touchdown there. But looking through the staff bump,
- 10:12Speaker 1: it's crazy. The Niners had four hundred and fifty seven
- 10:15Speaker 1: toty yards, Seahawks had two thirty four. The Niners had
- 10:19Speaker 1: twenty three first down Seahawks had fourteen time and possession
- 10:22Speaker 1: was much closer this week, but the Niners still had
- 10:24Speaker 1: the edge thirty one to four. They had the ball
- 10:26Speaker 1: for thirty one minutes forty seconds to the Seahawks twenty
- 10:29Speaker 1: eight minutes and twenty seconds. But you mentioned it man turnovers.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Those two turnovers are at least I think the first
- 10:35Speaker 1: Digs interception the Seahawks and score off that. But it's
- 10:38Speaker 1: stop points and then on the fumble they turned into
- 10:40Speaker 1: a touchdown right away. So that's the thing making big plays.
- 10:43Speaker 1: We've been talking about it for a couple of weeks
- 10:45Speaker 1: all season. They need to get the football away from
- 10:47Speaker 1: the other football team, and they did that on Sunday,
- 10:49Speaker 1: and that's pretty much a big difference in the win.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Two for ten on third downs. That's still gonna kill me.
- 10:55Speaker 1: One of these days these hunks will be fifty percent
- 10:57Speaker 1: on third down. But I guess, minute you're scoring, you
- 11:00Speaker 1: do what you gotta do. I guess we have to
- 11:01Speaker 1: worry about third downs. We will take a win. Let's
- 11:04Speaker 1: break down somebody's playmakers, playmakers, playmakers. We always started the quarterback,
- 11:20Speaker 1: and Russell Wilson did not disappoint as usually went sixteen
- 11:23Speaker 1: twenty three four, one hundred forty nine yards and two touchdowns,
- 11:27Speaker 1: four carries twenty six yards and one touchdown on the ground,
- 11:30Speaker 1: and with his two touchdowns, Russell Wilson passed Vinny Testaverdi
- 11:33Speaker 1: for seventeenth place on the NFL's all time passing touchdown
- 11:37Speaker 1: list with two hundred and seventy six. Russell had a
- 11:40Speaker 1: passer rating of over one ten or higher and no
- 11:43Speaker 1: interceptions in each of the first four games played. Joined
- 11:47Speaker 1: John Hattle of nineteen seventy three in Milt Plum nineteen sixty.
- 11:51Speaker 1: For those of you that were alive, then that's the
- 11:54Speaker 1: only players in the NFL history with a rating one
- 11:56Speaker 1: ten or higher with no interceptions and the team's first
- 11:59Speaker 1: four games. Russe is doing his thing. Man slow start,
- 12:01Speaker 1: but he comes gets after it, makes the huge plays
- 12:04Speaker 1: when necessary, scramble touchdown the one Freddy Swayne. So good
- 12:07Speaker 1: to see Russell get the offense who started slow, kind
- 12:10Speaker 1: of get themself corrected. In that second half, he passed
- 12:13Speaker 1: Vinny Testaverdie Vinny played to he was like forty two
- 12:16Speaker 1: years old. Ross is like Russe is like thirty two.
- 12:20Speaker 1: So he's doing good things, all right, all right? Another playmaker,
- 12:24Speaker 1: DK metcalf had four recessions sixty five yards of one
- 12:26Speaker 1: touchdown and on that first drive, I believe he had
- 12:29Speaker 1: two catches and one of his rounds. I'm seeing the
- 12:33Speaker 1: evolution of dk metcalf a right. Every year. I feel
- 12:35Speaker 1: like he adds something to his game. I think it
- 12:37Speaker 1: was an option route that he was in the slot,
- 12:40Speaker 1: an option rather than he's one on one with maybe
- 12:42Speaker 1: the Nick or whoever was over it might be a
- 12:43Speaker 1: safety and gives him a little shake at the top
- 12:46Speaker 1: of a five yard route, goes to the inside, boom
- 12:48Speaker 1: gets the football. That's a little man route. All right,
- 12:50Speaker 1: that's that's that's a five eleven type rout and this
- 12:53Speaker 1: guy is getting done. DK Metcalf did have a couple
- 12:55Speaker 1: of drops, but he's still consistent. You know, he's still
- 12:59Speaker 1: someone you can rely on. The last couple of games,
- 13:00Speaker 1: he's shown that, look, I can help get his offense going.
- 13:03Speaker 1: It's nice to see DK do his thing. Yeah, no,
- 13:05Speaker 1: you're right. Consistency and you know, Tyler Lockett got banged
- 13:08Speaker 1: up a little bit at the end of that Vikings game.
- 13:10Speaker 1: But this is kind of what happened last year where
- 13:12Speaker 1: those guys kind of trade off who has the big games.
- 13:15Speaker 1: So Tyler came out on the season on a tear
- 13:17Speaker 1: of those first two games, been a little quieter the
- 13:19Speaker 1: last two, but the last two DK Metcalf has turned
- 13:21Speaker 1: around and started having some good football games. Let's go
- 13:24Speaker 1: to the running backs and it's it's not Chris Carson,
- 13:26Speaker 1: which is shocking. You'd always assume that number thirty two.
- 13:28Speaker 1: We know he runs that rock. But Alex Collins one.
- 13:31Speaker 1: He was one that was a huge spark in the
- 13:33Speaker 1: football game. Ten carries forty four yards in a touchdown
- 13:36Speaker 1: and two receptions for thirty four yards, and yet one
- 13:38Speaker 1: of the biggest receptions of the game. It was on
- 13:40Speaker 1: that first scoring drive. I think it was. He went
- 13:42Speaker 1: for about twenty five twenty six yards on that little
- 13:45Speaker 1: dump off, and he kind of was an energizer. Bunny
- 13:47Speaker 1: got things going running the football hard. You can tell
- 13:49Speaker 1: that he's when he's in the games. He's working. He's
- 13:52Speaker 1: in good shape. So good to see Alex Collins kind
- 13:54Speaker 1: of emerge. Is that second running back. Yep, that twenty
- 13:58Speaker 1: eight yard reception got things going. Turbo said of the
- 14:00Speaker 1: best in the postgame, show man, he just looks different.
- 14:02Speaker 1: He looked hungry. He looked like a guy who was
- 14:05Speaker 1: going to take advantage of this opportunity. Alex Collins like
- 14:08Speaker 1: to see him get it done. Quandre Diggs seven tackles,
- 14:11Speaker 1: two passes defended, one interception, and the interception he broke
- 14:15Speaker 1: it down post game nast and it was beautiful. He's like, look, man,
- 14:17Speaker 1: I watched film. This is what I do. I read
- 14:19Speaker 1: my keys. I saw one do this. I knew two
- 14:21Speaker 1: was gonna do that. I jumped on the football. The
- 14:23Speaker 1: game is easy when you study folks. The game is
- 14:25Speaker 1: easy when you prepare him. Quandre has been one of
- 14:29Speaker 1: the most consistent players on this defense, and I feel
- 14:31Speaker 1: like we don't talk about him enough. No, he does
- 14:33Speaker 1: not getting nearly love that he deserves. Quandred Diggs and
- 14:36Speaker 1: obviously outstanding football player. But you mentioned it pattern recognition.
- 14:39Speaker 1: He's doing stuff because he's in the film room. He's
- 14:41Speaker 1: putting in the work and it's really helped kind of really,
- 14:45Speaker 1: you know, balance what's going on in the secondary. There's
- 14:47Speaker 1: been a lot of movement. You started the year with
- 14:49Speaker 1: a bunch of guys on the roster that weren't in
- 14:52Speaker 1: camp with you, so it's good to see him kind
- 14:54Speaker 1: of balance out that secondary. He is the quarterback of
- 14:56Speaker 1: that defense. So good to see Quandre Diggs out there
- 14:58Speaker 1: making some place. Arby Goat b wags ten tackles, one
- 15:03Speaker 1: pass defended. Again, it's another dead opos b wags double
- 15:06Speaker 1: digit tackles. I mean, we're so fortunate to have this dude. Man,
- 15:10Speaker 1: he's an anchor on this defense. He's reliable, and it's
- 15:14Speaker 1: crazy that he can have ten tackles and it feels
- 15:17Speaker 1: like a quiet game for him, but he just shows
- 15:19Speaker 1: up and gets a job done. You know he's I
- 15:22Speaker 1: mean consistency, consistency, consien consistency, Bobby Wagner. Each and every week,
- 15:26Speaker 1: you can guarantee there's gonna be double digit tackles, will
- 15:29Speaker 1: probably have a past fan, might throw in a sack, PB,
- 15:32Speaker 1: whatever it is. Bobby Wagner is fifty four. We know
- 15:35Speaker 1: he's in me Hall of Famer anchor. That defense helped.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Good to see him doing his thing, getting this thing
- 15:39Speaker 1: turned around. Now, bum tell me about these wide receivers.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Wide receivers, like we mentioned DK four catches sixty five yards,
- 15:48Speaker 1: one touchdown on eight targets. I believe he's gonna have
- 15:51Speaker 1: look at that film and say, man, I could have
- 15:52Speaker 1: easy one hundred yards if I make a couple of catches,
- 15:55Speaker 1: But DK is gonna bounce back and do his thing.
- 15:57Speaker 1: The second leading receiver was a running back with two
- 16:00Speaker 1: catches thirty four yards. Alex Collins was the ender DRIs
- 16:04Speaker 1: of Bunny. As you mentioned, Tyler Lockett had a quiet day.
- 16:07Speaker 1: I'm just glad that this man was healthy and available
- 16:09Speaker 1: to play. He had four catches twenty four yards. Freddie Swain.
- 16:12Speaker 1: This is probably, I would say the most difficult touchdown
- 16:17Speaker 1: of his career so far. I believe last week or
- 16:19Speaker 1: a couple of weeks he had had one where they're
- 16:21Speaker 1: wide open. I comes against Tennessee, wide open, blown coverage.
- 16:24Speaker 1: He scores like a sixty five yard touchdown, but this
- 16:26Speaker 1: one was tight on the sideline in the end zone.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Had to get the toes down. Russell Wilson spinning out
- 16:31Speaker 1: of things, getting done. Nax to see Freddie uncle Will
- 16:34Speaker 1: had two for five, Chris Carson had one for one.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Let's go to the coach's corner. Nows all right in
- 16:40Speaker 1: the coaches corner. We've been talking about a little bit
- 16:42Speaker 1: throughout the podcast. Russell Wilson does only what Russell Wilson
- 16:47Speaker 1: gonna do. If this was Patrick Mahomes, it'd be all
- 16:49Speaker 1: over Sports Center, and we've been talking about how he
- 16:51Speaker 1: was the MVP. But Russell Wilson hicks up with Freddy
- 16:54Speaker 1: Swain for a thirteen yard touchdown. The in motion is
- 16:57Speaker 1: Swain from left to right, play fake look out, Rush
- 17:00Speaker 1: tries to spin out of trouble. He does looks, he
- 17:01Speaker 1: throws it nearside Richard Back Benchie catch Swaye touts down
- 17:06Speaker 1: stay hooks. I don't believe it, Russell Wilson, how did
- 17:11Speaker 1: you do that? In a huge trouble, spins away from
- 17:15Speaker 1: the defender and throws a striks Freddy Swain in the
- 17:19Speaker 1: front corner of the end zone. Russell was getting the rights,
- 17:23Speaker 1: and yet he fires a shot and the Seahawks go
- 17:26Speaker 1: on top a thirteen yard touchdown laser to Swain. All right,
- 17:32Speaker 1: Freddie Swayin goes in motion. He's on the left side
- 17:35Speaker 1: of the formation, goes in motion, showing that jet sweep
- 17:38Speaker 1: look that we've been asking to see on the top
- 17:40Speaker 1: of your screen. You got Will Disley in the slot.
- 17:42Speaker 1: You got Tyler locket tight as the number one receiver.
- 17:44Speaker 1: They run like a little crossing rub Tyler lock is
- 17:47Speaker 1: gonna go inside. It's gonna attract the safety in the
- 17:49Speaker 1: second level. Well, Dissy is gonna go outside, break inside
- 17:53Speaker 1: of the second level defender, and Freddie Swayin kind of
- 17:55Speaker 1: drifted into no man's land. You know, I think he's
- 17:57Speaker 1: kind of like, all right, I look back, let me
- 17:59Speaker 1: see what's going on, sees that his quarterback needs some help,
- 18:02Speaker 1: and then he turns it back on, gets to the
- 18:04Speaker 1: end zone has to reverse pivot out because Russell puss
- 18:07Speaker 1: where only he can get it. Only he can get
- 18:10Speaker 1: it the front pylon on the sideline in the back
- 18:12Speaker 1: of the end zone. Freddy makes a good catch, gets
- 18:15Speaker 1: the feet down, which is crucial. Nicest see Freddy sway.
- 18:19Speaker 1: He's consistently showing that he can handle that number three spot. No,
- 18:23Speaker 1: you absolutely love to see it too. And you mentioned
- 18:25Speaker 1: it talking about you know who's gonna emerge should be
- 18:27Speaker 1: that number three receiver for the football team. You mentioned it.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Freddy is a great job of just helping out his
- 18:31Speaker 1: quarterback when he realized it right away. Once the corner
- 18:34Speaker 1: blitz is on the play and then Russell dances out
- 18:36Speaker 1: of that a voice Nick Bosa, he just throws his
- 18:39Speaker 1: arm up and I just love that. I love his
- 18:41Speaker 1: reaction to the ball. Just like you said, pivoting getting
- 18:44Speaker 1: there only where Russell's gonna find him makes a hell
- 18:46Speaker 1: of a play, and that you just love to see
- 18:48Speaker 1: it because that's that's scramble drill. That's if you play
- 18:50Speaker 1: with Russell Wilson, you gotta know play breaks down, you
- 18:53Speaker 1: gotta be ready coming back to the football helping out
- 18:54Speaker 1: your quarterback. And I love to see Freddy Swayne Man.
- 18:57Speaker 1: He doesn't necessarily get a lot of targets or a
- 18:58Speaker 1: lot of love, but he's been there for his quarterback
- 19:01Speaker 1: and he's shown that Russell Wilson can trust him because
- 19:04Speaker 1: in situations like this, he makes plays. He's efficient, Fredy,
- 19:08Speaker 1: keep doing what you do, baby, all right now the
- 19:09Speaker 1: last two weeks now, so we didn't get in this formation. Well,
- 19:12Speaker 1: let's go ahead and take Disney victory formation. Let's get
- 19:15Speaker 1: it here. It comes the Seahawk offense onto the field
- 19:19Speaker 1: and the Vikings defense trudging out there knowing that one
- 19:24Speaker 1: meal down and the Seahawks are gonna wind the clock
- 19:27Speaker 1: down and win this one. It's the victory formation on
- 19:31Speaker 1: Hawk Talk. It's only been a couple of weeks, bump,
- 19:33Speaker 1: but it feels like it's been a month. Man. That's
- 19:35Speaker 1: what happens because we're so fortunate and used to the
- 19:38Speaker 1: Seahawks winning a lot of football games around here. So
- 19:41Speaker 1: we had a two week hiatus from the victory formation.
- 19:43Speaker 1: But we are back. And here's the thing, man, Russell Wilson.
- 19:47Speaker 1: It started with him the catalyst, doing Russell Wilson things,
- 19:50Speaker 1: making plays all over the field. Three touchdowns, Alex Collin
- 19:53Speaker 1: Collins providing a spark, you know, off the bench of
- 19:55Speaker 1: that second running back. So good to see him emerge.
- 19:58Speaker 1: And it's just good to see them bounce back. They
- 20:00Speaker 1: started off slow, started the game of three five or
- 20:03Speaker 1: five three and outs, were struggling offensively. It's good to
- 20:05Speaker 1: see them bounce back and kind of figure it out
- 20:08Speaker 1: and then scoring the third quarter. Remember two games in
- 20:10Speaker 1: a row we had one drive in the third quarter.
- 20:12Speaker 1: The Seahawks bounced back. They scored on multiple possessions, and
- 20:15Speaker 1: it was really good to see them get that because,
- 20:17Speaker 1: as we know, we didn't want to call it a
- 20:18Speaker 1: must win game, but it was a must win game
- 20:21Speaker 1: this early in the season, and they got done. After
- 20:24Speaker 1: the fact, we're gonna call them must win all day. Yeah,
- 20:26Speaker 1: before the fact, we're gonna share a cord it nah,
- 20:28Speaker 1: that'll be all right, Nah. That was a must win game.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Glad they gotta them then that defense man. There were
- 20:33Speaker 1: times we were frustrated a bit in this game. But
- 20:37Speaker 1: even with all the yards that they gained at one point,
- 20:40Speaker 1: even with all the yards they were getting in the
- 20:41Speaker 1: first half and the offense not moving the ball the
- 20:44Speaker 1: way we wanted to, it was still seven zero. So
- 20:47Speaker 1: that's why stats can for you. Sometimes you see you
- 20:49Speaker 1: see the rush yards, the pass yards, like Dane, what's
- 20:52Speaker 1: going on with this defense? The offense is not scored.
- 20:54Speaker 1: This feels bad, but you look at the score and
- 20:56Speaker 1: you're life, Okay, we're still in this ball game. That's
- 20:58Speaker 1: exactly what the defense did. Now they want to turnover
- 21:00Speaker 1: battle had two takeaways, no turnovers. Russell Wilson has yet
- 21:04Speaker 1: to turn the football over. If you can take care
- 21:06Speaker 1: of the football, the defense can take away the football.
- 21:09Speaker 1: It's gonna be good. Hey man, Big week coming up,
- 21:13Speaker 1: Huge week, Huge week, and we got the Rams coming
- 21:16Speaker 1: into town on short week on Thursday Night football. The
- 21:19Speaker 1: Rams are looking their wounds a little bit because they
- 21:21Speaker 1: got smacked up by the Cardinals last yesterday, So it'll
- 21:24Speaker 1: be really interesting to see it to short week. Both
- 21:26Speaker 1: teams are gonna be ready to go. It's always a
- 21:28Speaker 1: battle against the Rams. You know, it's a little a
- 21:30Speaker 1: little bad blood. You know what I'm saying to the
- 21:32Speaker 1: Seahawks from the division. Last year, put the Rams beat
- 21:35Speaker 1: the Seahawks in the playoffs. Some words exchange on social media.
- 21:39Speaker 1: So I'll be really excited to see this matchup on
- 21:41Speaker 1: Thursday night, Thursday Night Football Primetime. Baby, we know Russell
- 21:45Speaker 1: Wilson always balls out on primetime. You guys show up
- 21:48Speaker 1: and let's get it done. That was Hawk Talk recap. Addition,
- 21:51Speaker 1: the Seahawks beat the forty nine is twenty eight to
- 21:54Speaker 1: twenty one. Appreciate you guys. Second time, I'm Michael Bumpus.
- 21:57Speaker 1: That's Nasha Choby. Talk to you soon, Linda Lindend
