- 0:01Speaker 1: Hey, Hey, you're on there.
- 0:02Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 0:03Speaker 3: So I'm just trying to convince myself that there's nothing
- 0:06Speaker 3: wrong with me. So I was recently on a flight
- 0:11Speaker 3: and the guy sitting next to me fell asleep during
- 0:15Speaker 3: the flight. But he fell asleep with his phone open,
- 0:19Speaker 3: and I noticed that there was a text message. And
- 0:22Speaker 3: of course, you know, like I probably shouldn't have looked,
- 0:25Speaker 3: but I did. And guess what, it was a long
- 0:30Speaker 3: text that I'm pretty sure he's breaking up with his girlfriend,
- 0:34Speaker 3: or at least that's what the text seems like. But
- 0:36Speaker 3: men are such crack communicators. It was awful, and I
- 0:41Speaker 3: was I was thinking, like, okay, should I say anything?
- 0:44Speaker 3: Maybe I should just you know, just you know, keep
- 0:46Speaker 3: that to myself. But when he woke up, I I
- 0:50Speaker 3: did ask him. I said, would you mind if I
- 0:54Speaker 3: gave you a few notes? And I pointed to his
- 0:57Speaker 3: phone and he asked me, he said, did you read?
- 1:00Speaker 3: And I said a little bit, But that's a lie.
- 1:02Speaker 3: I absolutely read the entire thing. Like I said, it
- 1:04Speaker 3: was a really long text message, and I actually he
- 1:07Speaker 3: was open to it, and I helped him rewrite pretty
- 1:10Speaker 3: much the entire thing. So it was a lot nicer
- 1:13Speaker 3: and conveyed what he actually wanted to convey.
- 1:16Speaker 2: So did they break up? Or did they? Did you
- 1:18Speaker 2: save the relationship?
- 1:20Speaker 3: So they I helped him break up because I mean,
- 1:24Speaker 3: just from what he told me, you know, in the
- 1:26Speaker 3: text message and everything, I think that it definitely should
- 1:29Speaker 3: have been a breakup. But I helped him just you know,
- 1:33Speaker 3: express himself correctly. You know, he was it was kind
- 1:36Speaker 3: of just all over the place and not very nice
- 1:40Speaker 3: in a couple of the you know lines that he had.
- 1:43Speaker 3: But I basically became his breakup consultant.
- 1:45Speaker 4: You know, this could be a whole career for you,
- 1:47Speaker 4: a whole second career.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, okay, that's what I was trying to convince myself.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I didn't do anything wrong because I was coming from
- 1:54Speaker 3: a good place.
- 1:55Speaker 4: Right, No, I think so, you know, first of all,
- 1:57Speaker 4: he fell asleep breaking up. He must have not cared
- 1:59Speaker 4: that much. He took a nap.
- 2:01Speaker 5: In season two, Friends and Neighbors, John Hamm, who's the star,
- 2:05Speaker 5: his son wants to break up with his girlfriend and
- 2:08Speaker 5: he's writing a breakup text and he asks his dad
- 2:10Speaker 5: for his advice, and the dad says, here's my advice,
- 2:14Speaker 5: don't du it in person. You don't break up via text,
- 2:18Speaker 5: So that's what you should have said, Simone. You should
- 2:20Speaker 5: take his phone and thrown it across the aisle, and
- 2:22Speaker 5: should you go find her. It would be really funny
- 2:24Speaker 5: if she's actually the girl in the seat of frontmative.
- 2:27Speaker 5: But you know, you break up face to face. I think,
- 2:30Speaker 5: I don't think you break up via text. But what
- 2:32Speaker 5: do I know. I'm just a good.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Human being, that is true.
- 2:35Speaker 3: I actually didn't think about that.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Well, good luck with a new career. You're out there
- 2:39Speaker 2: doing good things.
- 2:39Speaker 5: You could also say to him, you should introduce him
- 2:41Speaker 5: to chat chyptigue. You can just copy and paste it.
- 2:44Speaker 5: Help me break up with this girl bloom. Well, thanks
- 2:47Speaker 5: for sharing the story of Simone. Have a great day.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 2:58Speaker 2: One oh four to seven Kiss FM, John Dyane Ridge,
- 3:00Speaker 2: Hi Joy, Hi, Hi, good morning. You're on the air.
- 3:04Speaker 2: How can we help you?
- 3:06Speaker 1: Oh my god, you guys. So I'm having an issue. So,
- 3:09Speaker 1: like I'm thirty and somehow just chronically single. Like my
- 3:14Speaker 1: friends call me solo cups because I'm like always by
- 3:17Speaker 1: myself when I arrive. Yeah, it's it's cute. I mean,
- 3:21Speaker 1: it's it's a vibe. Okay, But I just started dating
- 3:25Speaker 1: this guy and I actually really like him, and like
- 3:30Speaker 1: we've already hit a weird issue, like already, like very
- 3:33Speaker 1: very soon. Early on, I'm like, no, why, like why
- 3:37Speaker 1: does this keep happening to me? It's not my fault.
- 3:40Speaker 1: So I found out he literally turns his phone off
- 3:45Speaker 1: every night, like off, like when it's dead, Like why
- 3:49Speaker 1: would you do that on purpose to yourself? You know,
- 3:52Speaker 1: And he goes to sleep, not silent, not do not disturb,
- 3:56Speaker 1: just like off off. So after a second day, I
- 4:01Speaker 1: texted him and I was like, hey, had a really
- 4:03Speaker 1: great time, and then I just never heard anything, like
- 4:07Speaker 1: he didn't answer. So I'm like, oh my god, he
- 4:10Speaker 1: totally isn't into me, like what is going on?
- 4:13Speaker 4: You know?
- 4:14Speaker 1: And then like full you know, almost a day later,
- 4:18Speaker 1: like the next morning, he replies like nothing happened, you know,
- 4:22Speaker 1: and he's like, oh, my phone was off, like weird,
- 4:26Speaker 1: like er thought, you know what I mean, Like that's
- 4:29Speaker 1: just it's just weird, Like who turns their phone off?
- 4:32Speaker 1: What if there's an emergency, you know, like what if
- 4:36Speaker 1: I had to get a hold of him and ddle
- 4:37Speaker 1: of the night and he's not available, Like that is
- 4:40Speaker 1: not he That's not leading up to a good dad quick, yeah,
- 4:49Speaker 1: like fast forward, play the tape all the way through,
- 4:52Speaker 1: and like you know what if the kids at school
- 4:54Speaker 1: pick up and like dad doesn't pick up his phone,
- 4:57Speaker 1: you know. So yeah in the middle right now, Yeah,
- 5:04Speaker 1: from somewhere, I feel like about the contact. I can't
- 5:11Speaker 1: get a hold of my emergency contact. And so he
- 5:14Speaker 1: was like, what's the emergency?
- 5:16Speaker 2: You know?
- 5:18Speaker 1: And I just felt like insane because I was like, like,
- 5:23Speaker 1: do you not get the seriousness of turning your phone off?
- 5:27Speaker 1: And I don't know, just to me, it seems really extreme,
- 5:31Speaker 1: you know, because like hello, life, like you have to
- 5:34Speaker 1: be available at all times, like, you.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Know.
- 5:38Speaker 1: So he goes on and he's like, oh, I only
- 5:40Speaker 1: do it. Oh, I only leave it on. Sorry if
- 5:43Speaker 1: I'm in a serious relationship. Yeah, so like I guess
- 5:47Speaker 1: I haven't crossed the line into serious relationship territory for him.
- 5:52Speaker 1: So yeah, so like his phone is the indicator as
- 5:56Speaker 1: to whether or not I'm worth it isn't a good
- 6:00Speaker 1: sign though, Like it's not Like then then I mean
- 6:03Speaker 1: you've endgamed it to.
- 6:04Speaker 2: You're a bad dad.
- 6:05Speaker 1: But if obviously you're in a relationship to the point
- 6:08Speaker 1: where you have kids that would be a serious relationship,
- 6:10Speaker 1: and he would keep.
- 6:11Speaker 2: His phone on.
- 6:12Speaker 5: I think up until that part where he said, uh,
- 6:15Speaker 5: I only keep it on if I'm in a serious relationship,
- 6:18Speaker 5: Like everything he did up until that point, I was like, OK,
- 6:20Speaker 5: I can understand. Because to me, if you think about
- 6:22Speaker 5: this for a second, and this is what I think
- 6:24Speaker 5: about sometimes, is your phone is on twenty four hours
- 6:27Speaker 5: a day, always on. Sometimes you got to turn it
- 6:29Speaker 5: off and let it sit and just let it chill.
- 6:32Speaker 5: So I turn mine off.
- 6:33Speaker 2: I try.
- 6:33Speaker 5: I tell mysel I gonna turn off every couple days,
- 6:35Speaker 5: but I do about once every two three weeks.
- 6:37Speaker 2: You just gotta let it. It's a machine. You gotta
- 6:39Speaker 2: let it chill.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Well more than that, you are a human and you
- 6:42Speaker 4: don't need to be connected to the universe while you're sleeping.
- 6:45Speaker 4: For the most part, nothing's gonna happens an emergency.
- 6:51Speaker 2: But what you're saying is true too.
- 6:52Speaker 5: But I'm saying, like you have a car, you turn
- 6:55Speaker 5: off the car when you park it in the garage.
- 6:58Speaker 2: You just let it. You gotta let it like fit
- 7:00Speaker 2: and relax.
- 7:01Speaker 5: Now, the part where he's telling you, Hey, if I'm
- 7:03Speaker 5: in a serious relationship, I keep it on. That means
- 7:06Speaker 5: he might be trying to maybe get you to take
- 7:07Speaker 5: it to the next level too, like, hey, I just
- 7:09Speaker 5: want to let you know when I'm in a serious lady,
- 7:10Speaker 5: I've turned his on. You know now when it comes
- 7:13Speaker 5: to red flags, I thought you you telling your story.
- 7:16Speaker 5: There's a couple of times from the beginning I thought,
- 7:17Speaker 5: is this a red flag on him? But now I
- 7:19Speaker 5: think you might be the red flag because you went
- 7:21Speaker 5: all the way to you went all the way to
- 7:24Speaker 5: the pickup line to school, and you just dating.
- 7:31Speaker 4: You.
- 7:32Speaker 2: You have to think about all the options.
- 7:34Speaker 4: I think he has healthy boundaries. He's turning off his
- 7:36Speaker 4: phone so he can sleep and have a good time.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I'm going to get him a pages you can find
- 7:47Speaker 1: like a pawnshop probably.
- 7:48Speaker 4: And if you go to that next level, you're probably
- 7:50Speaker 4: gonna be with him in the middle of night. So
- 7:51Speaker 4: if you have an emergency, you just give him a
- 7:52Speaker 4: little nudge there. You don't have to call.
- 7:55Speaker 1: I'll just invite myself over to semin eight. Then that's
- 7:58Speaker 1: how we solve.
- 7:58Speaker 5: This all right, tooy, Well, thanks for sharing that. You
- 8:01Speaker 5: kind of made us laugh a lot, So thank you laughing.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Thanks a lot. Is it a red flag? Is it
- 8:08Speaker 2: not a red flag
