- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: you are a man of God in a world against masculinity, willing to stand in the gap.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: An example of its good, you feel the pressure is to conform, but you're part of a growing few, rejecting your inner-passivity.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: So you can love others well.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: Stand for truth and lead on apologetically.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: The grain is not your path.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: You press four as a resolute man.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, Jens, welcome back to the Resilman Show, quick episodes, Monday through Thursday.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: I hope you get in a lot out of it, listen and then do with your family, your legacy will be rich.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: It will literally help it not because of me, not because of you necessarily, it's because you're a bang God.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: to read his word to your family and discuss it and encourage faith in your children.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's so you have something to do with that for sure, but really it's God's word of this powerful and coming from the lips of a father is rich in a big influence.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: So definitely definitely definitely do this.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: Get on it.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: If you've gotten off track, or you're just joining the show, you're just checking out this episode, go to the beginning of this series, teaching Proverbs to your family.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: It will help you.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: So this one is teaching Proverbs chapter 3, verse 21 through 26 to your family.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: And here's the title, Walking Secure and Sleeping Sweet.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: You can always use these titles as part of your promotion before you teach.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: We'll get to that in a second.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, there's always a challenge
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: that seems to teaching the family the Bible.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: And one of those is being tired, you know?
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: Let's just be honest, we work hard.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: We're providing for our families.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: We probably are serving in different places.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: So we've got to attend to our wives and attend to all the things with children and so forth.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: There's things they're doing.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: And how do you fit in, you know, teaching the Bible with everything going on?
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I would just say, it's just like anything else.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: If there's something valuable enough to you, it doesn't matter if you're tired or not for you to do it.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: And that's, I think, the motivation just has to be high enough so that you do it regardless of being tired.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of like a discipline.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: I would say, it's important to be disciplined in this area, one of the most important areas.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: You might be disciplined and working out.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: You do that even if you're tired.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: But why wouldn't we help our family work this spiritual muscles and work out in that way because of our leadership?
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: Or we're not going to do that because we're tired?
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: See, so it takes really a strong sense of purpose.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: an important supplant doing this.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: That's the encouragement.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, you guys know that I can pray from what you're about to teach.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: Read it, ask questions, and you're into no more about the Bible.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, the R when you read it, you can teach a little bit too.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm teaching you how to teach just to your family.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: Great way to teach is the A though, asking the questions.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: So, remember, when you're getting everybody's attention, you want to do that's the one you could do as simple as the A.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to read in the Bible, you get your Bible as you guys ready.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: that kind of thing.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: But you could say something like that's to with the title of this scripture or any title you want to make up for it.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: But we get to learn how to walk confidently and sleep well.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: That, you know, a lot of kids do sleep pretty well.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's something new and unique and interesting.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: So promote it and then we go into the scripture, open your Bible.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: And I encourage by the way, you know, it's not be legalistic.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: You can use your phone as a Bible.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: No problem, right?
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: That happens to me sometimes, especially from traveling.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: You
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: Bible right next to me or something like that I'm not gonna not do it because I'm on my physical Bible open up my Bible app but I think it is best if you actually have your Bible and you open up your Bible and everybody opens up the Bible's in no attack I think that is rich and shows a great example but all right first 21 through 22 my son do not lose sight of these keep sound wisdom and discretion and they will be life for your soul
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: an adornment for your neck.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: So keep wisdom and sight at all times.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: Here's an example you could use with your children.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: I learned this commercial fishing when I was 15 and 16 a skip rope take a break or sleeping down below and he put me in charge and I would be navigating the boat.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: You know it's like a 60-foot boat and up in Alaska.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: So one of the things I noticed about boats is they have a big wheel and you turn it, turns the rudder and back, but
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: the current and the waves are constantly pushing you and tossing the boat kind of back and forth and unless you're constantly adjusting with the wheel you won't be going where you want to go and one of the things that really really helps course we had radar but one of the things that really helps is to have something out there that you're looking at that is in the direction you want to go and when your vision is on that
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: And you're adjusting as the waves and the wind and everything tosses against you, it keeps you, it keeps you on tracks.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: You're kind of going like this, and that's the same thing with wisdom.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: Life is going to throw things out, you know, things are going to happen.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: Challenges are going to happen, but you need to keep your eyes on wisdom.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: A son do not lose sight of these and we've been talking about wisdom.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: Do not lose sight of gods, wisdom, no matter what waves and wind and things are pushing against you.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a great example.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to have
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: live that to use that example.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: The great one.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: And then it says, keep sound wisdom and discretion.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: They will be life for your soul.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: Life for your soul.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, you can always ask a question.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, what do you think that means?
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: Life for your soul.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: Or you can just explain it.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: Inner well being that nourishes the soul.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: It gives you vitality of life.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: And it's important.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: And then it says, and they will be life your soul in a dormant for your knack again, a dormant for your knack is like winning the Olympics to put a breath around your knack.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's winning.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's winning at life.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: Do you get children you want to win at life?
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you want to follow wisdom and to winning a read.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: But really, this is talking about as it shows on the outside when you're following after wisdom.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: And conversely, it shows on the outside when people are not following wisdom.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: And here's an unprecedented times tip.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: You could talk about with your children to keep them aware of the people around them.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: and so forth.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: Of course you're not raising people to be judgmental and a critical viewpoint, but you do want your children to make judgments about people to keep themselves safe.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: That is important.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever seen someone's eyes when they're super wayward in life?
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: Of course you can, right?
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: People are deep into sin and they're not following after God.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: Often you can see it in their eyes.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes it's just kind of a deadening in their eyes or
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: They won't even look at you in the eyes.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: There is shifty and it's because they feel uncomfortable being around people walking strong.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: And so you can see it in their eyes.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: And so, sin is ugly and it starts destroying the outside too.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: And there's more to that, right?
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: It can extend to more than just what's happening in someone's eyes and so forth.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: But to help them understand some cues.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: When someone might be dangerous and things like that is important because you can start to see it on the outside.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: Good character shows on the outside too.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: So it starts on the inside and it shows up on the outside and how people present themselves.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, verse 23, then you will walk on your way securely and your foot will not stumble.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: So when you see wisdom, it lets you choose paths well.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: It keeps you safe and it helps you to avoid the enemies' traps.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: Often, the enemy's traps come through, but other people you might be around, so you have to be careful who you're walking with, and that's peers.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: So most young people don't have their eyes on wisdom, and they veer off.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: So you have to be wise to stay on the path, not allow people to influence you to veer off, because you don't want to become inciner and one of the enemy's traps through other people.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: And your reputation matters.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: And you could talk a little bit about reputation.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: Reputation is very important, so it's very important to spend time with people.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: walking on a strong path.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: Averse 24, if you lie down, you will not be afraid.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is cool because, you know, if you think about it, our minds are most vulnerable when we're sleeping.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's important to keep our thoughts captive and we'll more awake.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: But it's very hard to do that when we're not awake.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: And so having some things we do before we go to sleep are helpful.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: And here's some things.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: So having a clear conscience and trusting God before you go to sleep, right?
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: And so maybe a prayer, maybe something to do is not just with your children have that same prayer you do every time, but to actually pray with them, ask them, what should we pray for?
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: How can I pray for you?
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: And to pray uniquely for them and with them.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: and they pray too.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: At bedtime can really be powerful for the sleep, but you can ask a question.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever struggled with sleep because something was on your mind you needed to fix?
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm sure you can relate to that.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: You have to do this.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: Things are done.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe something you said.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: You shouldn't have someone needed to apologize to you.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: Something in the marriage.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: These kinds of things as life gets more dynamic.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to have more of those possible things.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: But isn't it true if we don't have any of those things?
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: We've been quick to apologize to people.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we'd be disciplined with a life and keep it getting things done.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: We have things written down that aren't done, so they're not circling around our minds.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: These are some helpful things for you, but definitely praying before bad don't let it get them some good down without repenting is a big deal.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: You can teach your kids that, and that'll be a lifelong thing that'll help their sleep.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: Put your trust in God, but obviously there's no rest for those walking the cricket path.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: And that's really the point.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: is you don't want to be walking in cricket path because even if there's gains, even if there it looks like they're gaining worldly things because of it.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: They're not happy.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: They're not sleeping well.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: There's no sweet sleep for those walking in cricket path and they won't even understand why a lot of times.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so, and then 25 through 26 says, do not be afraid of sudden tear or
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: of the ruin of the wicked when it comes for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't say if it comes it says when it comes that one word when you could really hammer and talk about with your children so don't be afraid of some terror or a ruin of the wicked.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: When it comes, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: So when it comes, wisdom and God will keep you from your foot being caught.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't make you a promise that we're not going to experience challenges, we absolutely will.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: Challenges will come, but God doesn't promise to prevent challenges, He promises to be with us during them.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a cool little principle you could teach them.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: and how we respond and challenge what matters.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_00]: And here is this is so important.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited for you to do this with your families because one of the things that's happening to young people as they launch from the home is they're forgetting the really powerful and good lessons of being in their home and with their family.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: And you have to be the historian.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: You have to be the reminder, whether in your home, of the powerful things that have happened and how God has moved.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: and what the family has done so well.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: So stoke the fire of remembering family faithfulness as the point here.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: And here's one way you can do it in the scripture here.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: It's remind your family of a challenge and how the family responded.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: So when a challenge came, here's what happened.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: Here's how God showed up.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the decisions we made.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: And reminding them of those things are really important to anchor your family, your identity, your culture of your family,
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: and in God and the faithfulness of following God.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: All right, hey, you guys probably have heard by now that Prevenx is the sponsor of the Reslamant Show, but they're not just a sponsor, it's the vitamins of my choice.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they're literally making a massive difference.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: I unfortunately was out of my brain health recently for about seven days.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: and that really was a challenge because it has such a big impact on my clarity getting rid of brain fog, positivity, even feeling I can get more done.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I think really that with my sleep health and my multivitamin have been huge.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_00]: Those three really really powerful prevenics.com now they have a back and so thankful.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: and I'm going to make sure I get enough in time this time.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: But prevenx.com use RM15 to get the discount and it also lets them know that listeners are supporting the sponsor of the show which supports the show.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: The show wouldn't happen without a sponsor, so I'm so thankful for them.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: and it's a game changer for our entire family.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: So anyways, go to Prevenix.com to get that.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, I want to give you a couple of RM tips here from a previous episode.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'd wildly migraw what a great name.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: Wiley migraw on the show a couple of years ago.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: And he's a war vet.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: And he was the title as war vet forecast military draft lessons from combat and dangers of comfort.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: And so very fascinating episode, I think he was in his early 40s, and he is thinking about going back in the military.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: I have to check to see if he did, but that was really interesting.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: So after 20 plus years out, the call it feels called to return, he was training at the time to be a ranger.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: And he sees that as a ministry to younger troops and challenging other leaders anyways.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that was pretty cool.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: In the neat guy, and he says humility is the strongest weapon.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_00]: Humility is the strongest weapon.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: We want to be strong men.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: What's the strongest weapon we have?
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously the power of God in us, I would say, but also humility.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: The power of God helps us to be humble, and so he says combat taught him humility by confronting him with his mortality, being proud of something as different from having pride.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: and the test is whether you're in tension is for anything other than your self, and what you're doing.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that was really powerful.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: And pastivity is avoidance.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: So you talked about this, we did together.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: The conversation or action you want to dodge is usually the one to take on.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: after a short prayer, go do it.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_00]: He says, confronting his father over leaving baseball was harder than combat.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: So he had a stint in the direction, I think going towards Pro baseball, any shift of gears, and he talks about that conversation.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: So anyways, I think it's a powerful episode.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_00]: Go list do it.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's episode 24, the Result Man podcast.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: You can just type in and Google, Warbet, forecast military draft, lessons from combat, and dangers of comfort.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: You can type in why they migrae, Isaac Tolpin.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: The only thing of us together would be doing this episode.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: Very fascinating conversation.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, I hope you enjoy the show.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: You are a wrestling man.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_00]: And your influence is required during this unprecedented times.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_00]: Reveer God and fear nothing in this world, so you can better lead your family.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_00]: Make a difference and encourage others.
