[upbeat rock music] Oh, good evening, e- everybody, or good afternoon, or good morning if you choose to- Whenever you're listening...
0:22
listen to this in the AM part of the day. Greetings and salutations to you. It is Full Spectrum Cycling- [laughs]... show number 175. Yeah. That's a nice firm number. Three quarters of the way- To 200... to two.
0:37
Well- Oh, I was gonna link up with that- We, we-... or for that one B, but- Is it? Yeah, it is... all right, whatever. [clears throat] All right, so today's an experimental show. Ooh-ah. [laughs] [clattering] Oops. Whoa.
0:47
Sorry about that. What are you doing? Is that mail? What, are you sending mail somewhere? N- no, it appears someone's in my house, and I'm gonna guess it's James. Ah. [laughs] What's he doing in your house?
0:58
Working on my house. Can you, can you tell him, uh, hey, what's up? So I, if you... So we're testing, uh, for doing a live show, uh, some different gear than we normally use, and, uh,
1:13
I'm trying to get Tony to sit a little closer to the mic. I mean, it's- Hi... you don't have to- No... just a scooch, just a little bit. [microphone thudding] Yeah. Oops. There you go. There you go.
1:21
[microphone thudding] We're doing things differently here today. Hi. So- Hi... I dunno, can we- Like a roadie... it's Friday.
1:26
Like you're, if you're randomly just going, "Yes, I'm gonna be talking to you," like here, and this is the distance, and the comfort level. Hello. Yeah. How are you? Yeah. I have a question for you, perchance. Hi there.
1:36
So it's Friday. Friday. It's, it's 10:00 AM, or a little after 10. Can we tell what we're doing yet, or is it still too early? Tony Burger. Uh, it's too early. Stop playing with your phone. It's too early?
1:49
I'm trying to build a house here, guys. I'm sorry. [laughs] Things happen. So we can't say anything at 10 o'clock on Friday morning, huh? We are not allowed to say anything about the podcast, the, this- Oh, Lord.
2:01
[laughs] Well, that's fucking stupid. Hey, look, a blue car. [laughs] Where are my keys? We're not allowed to say anything about the bonus checkpoint [paper rustling] until the start, there we go, until the start of the
2:15
River West 24 at noon on [clears throat] Friday. And even then, all it's gonna be is the name of our podcast. You have to show up, get your manifest, find out when our podcast is.
2:29
Hint, really freaking early in the morning. Hint, sunrise. Hint, gonna be fun. Then you'll know when the hell this is happening. So how do they know where it is? Is it gonna be on the sheet? Uh, sorta. Okay.
2:42
Well, I'm not the one setting this up, so. This is really fun, you guys. This is- All right... you know? Okay. I notice in, in recent, in recent years, there has been kind of a little puzzle factor to
2:52
locations and/or guessing what the hell you're gonna be doing. Years ago, there was the origami checkpoint. You had to find the, um, Bone Shaker team to get your origami sheet of paper.
3:06
So they kept doing laps- [laughs]... and you had to find them- [laughs]... which was an awesome idea. Yeah, I liked that.
3:11
And then they gave you a sheet of what to make in origami and the piece of paper, and you had to bring it back to them. So you had to find them a second time- Damn... to get your bonus for it. That's genius.
3:23
I love stuff like that. [laughs] Yeah, yeah, that makes you have to really work for it. Right. Right on. Hey, so you know what? Last week, last week we didn't do this. This week we're gonna do this.
3:32
I'm pushing a button over here. Mm, mm, mm. I'm pushing a button right here. I push the button. Hey, welcome to the radio program. Caller, who do we have on the line? What's happening, y'all? It's Big Sexy. Big.
3:43
Big Sexy. Y- you have, you heard us talk- Um-... talking about the River West 24 already, which is coming up this- Yeah... coming weekend. Now, I was on my way, and I got a little sidetracked. Uh-oh.
3:58
It was like, um, Han Solo talking, I was talking to, I was, Han Solo talking to Jabba the Hutt.
4:04
[laughs] Um, no, but, uh, I was l- literally, I w- I spent the night at my sister's a week ago, um, and I was gonna head towards Milwaukee, and my brother called me and said, "Dude, I, I, I, I, I kinda want you to come back and help me move the rest of the way."
4:20
And I go, "All right, cool." 'Cause he had sent me to Milwaukee, like, "Oh, have your fucking fun in Milwaukee." I'm like, "Okay, I will."
4:28
[laughs] And then he called me, "Yeah, yeah, why don't you, why don't you come on back?" I'm like, "Oh, okay, I will." So, um, I'm really bummed that I'm not gonna make it,
4:37
but, um, next week my brother is, is giving me a ride up to Merrill, Wisconsin. Now, I can ride to Merrill, Wisconsin perfectly fine, but my brother's never been to Merrill.
4:48
I've lived in Merrill, you know, and stuff like that, and he's never met my friends there. So we're gonna drive up there, and we're gonna have a good time. It's gonna be my birthday on Friday.
4:59
Um, not this Friday, but next Friday. Um- Be-... and we're gonna have a good time. It's not belated. What is an early- And I'm thinking I wanna... Oh, well, I'm sorry. Go ahead, guys.
5:07
I was gonna say, what's an early w- birthday wish? Not belated. Happy early birthday. Happy early birthday. That's it. Well, th- well, thank you very much. I'm gonna be 45,
5:18
and if I live, if I live for, uh, one, two, three, if I live three months past my 45th birthday, outlive my father. So- Oh. Wow. It's quite the accomplishment if you can, uh, manage to make it.
5:32
Uh, and I, and, you know, I don't, I, I don't have any... I mean, of course my dad didn't know when [laughs] when that shit was happening either, so. Right.
5:39
Anyway, um, but what I was gonna, um, try, try to, um, pull a, pull a couple of strings here and say, uh, Labor Day weekend or something like that, if, uh, y'all wanna, y- y'all wanna meet, uh, some, somewhere outside of Milwaukee, I'll ro- roll into town and hit the Bremen Cafe and the Bremen, uh, Neighborhood Garden, and-
6:02
And, uh, maybe jump on the podcast on a Wednesday and- Yeah... hang out for the, you know, some of that. That sounds like a good plan. I... Something, there's a lot of stuff going on on Labor Day weekend.
6:11
What am I not remembering that I should be remembering? The unions. Yeah, I, I, the, uh, there's, I mean, there's a lot of stuff going on that weekend around here, so be a good time to be here too. Right.
6:22
There's al- it's always a good time to be in Milwaukee, as far as I can tell. When, when the Brewers are gonna be head, the Brewers are gonna be heading to the playoffs. Yeah, well, that's pretty- I, I don't know.
6:33
[laughs]... pretty much a given this year, I think. Yeah.
6:38
No, but, um, I, look, me and my brother have, have been, have been getting along pretty well and, and we're getting ready to, to have, like, a hell week this week by trying to get all of his stuff moved out of his apartment,
6:51
and then he's gonna get me a ride out to Maryland. And then I, um, it's a hop, skip, and a jump to Milwaukee as far as, well, as far as I'm concerned, because I, I ride from New Orleans to Cape Cod, you know-
7:04
Absolutely... no big whoop. Right, right. So Mar- Maryland to Milwaukee is nothing. I was through there not that long ago when I went to the Thorogood outlet store and grabbed some boots. Boots. You, you went where?
7:17
To the Thorogood Boot Company outlet store, 'cause they make the boots right there in Maryland. Oh, yeah, yeah. Very nice boots. Yeah. I was be- I was being encouraged to work for them. I'm like, "I don't know."
7:28
[laughs] Work? But, yeah, anyway, um- Then I can't ride my bike across the country.
7:32
[laughs] But, but anyway, but I, I definitely, um, still have a Milwaukee, uh, a Milwaukee visit, um, in my sights, but it's just not gonna be for Riverwest 24, which I really wanted to go to. I mean,
7:50
I mean, I, I really wanted to ride bikes and make out with that girl. What was her name again? [laughs] Annie. [laughs] Annie, that's it. That's it, yeah.
7:58
I wanted to ride bikes and make out with her, go on to Breman and drink whiskey with Jimmy Coyote and,
8:05
you know, I mean, and, and I wanted, and I wanted to experience Riverwest 24 for what it was supposed to be before, like, before the pandemic and all that. But, you know, best just wasn't in the cards this year.
8:18
Well, they'll be doing it again, so I think you got a- Mm-hmm... opportunity down the road again if you wanna take it. Absolutely.
8:26
And, um, uh, we'll, we'll talk about, maybe I'll text message you or something like that around, around, uh,
8:32
uh, when it's getting closer to Labor Day weekend, 'cause I wouldn't mind, you know, dropping down there for a minute. Um, my people in Maryland might be ready for a break from me by then.
8:42
[laughs] [laughs] But, uh, [laughs] but I'm, I'm, uh, I'm seriously contemplating, um, spending the winter in Maryland, so we'll have to see how everything goes.
8:54
I mean, like, like I said, I, I, ooh, I got to, like, October, you know, maybe October 1st I really would have to pull the rip cord and say, "Okay, I, if I'm heading south, I gotta head south fucking now." Yep. You know?
9:07
Where there, there's that deadline.
9:09
But if everything's going well, I think, you know, the, the best part about having Heather with me is, like, I can, eh, yeah, we're not getting along and this isn't working out, okay, I'm gonna get on my bike and ride.
9:19
Mm-hmm. But I can't do that in January in Wisconsin, so. [laughs] Well, you can, it's just gonna suck. Yeah, especially up that way. Right. Of course.
9:29
We have- I mean, I've, I've done some pretty stupid shit on my tricycle, but if that, riding it in January in Wisconsin, no. It's just not gonna- [laughs]... ain't gonna fucking happen.
9:37
Well, we, uh, we didn't get- But anyway... much snow down here at all last year at all. Right. It was chilly, but it, we didn't get... I think we got, like, 11 inches for the whole year- Yeah, it was nothing...
9:45
or something ridiculous like that. I mean, northern Wis- Wow... northern Wisconsin got a lot more, but, uh, it was a very non-snowy year here last season. Yeah. I think the snow was afraid of COVID, just stayed away.
9:56
[laughs] Snowvid. Well, I just remember that, that winter, that winter storm that, um, chased me out of, um, out of Hammond, uh, Louisiana.
10:07
And I spent Mardi Gras Day in Slidell, Louisiana, which was the first place I've spent Mardi Gras Day in 22 years, the first place I spent Mardi Gras Day that was not New Orleans proper. Huh. And
10:20
the, the wind was so bad coming off the Gulf, uh, coming from the north. It was blowing the Gulf of Mexico back to Mexico. It w- I've never seen that, where the, the waves weren't coming in.
10:33
It was getting the, the, the ocean was getting blown back. Wow. Huh. That's how bad the wind was. And it was just cutting you like a knife. It was so cold.
10:42
And I, and I can only imagine, like, central Wisconsin's gonna be worse than that in January, so. [laughs] All right, man. Well, keep in touch about the potential for Labor Day, and we'll fill you in on- Yeah...
10:53
Riverwest 24 stuff. We're gonna have a lot of content from that- Oh... that thing. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. So, you know, probably listen up- Great... down the, down the road a little bit, we'll have some,
11:03
some, uh, recaps and some other things from people that have been on the show before, so. We're going to, uh- Right on, yeah. Yeah. Um,
11:13
the, the, the goal, the goal would be to get, to get down there, party with y'all, and, uh, grab and jump on the podcast on Wednesday, and then, uh, probably head back up to Maryland, get a job.
11:25
[laughs] I'm like- Well, check out Thorogood. I think they-... I'm gonna have to work... pay reasonably well there. Yeah.
11:31
You know, and, uh, I'll, I'll tell you what, I've got a, um, couple potential jobs already in Maryland, so.
11:37
I know, I just, I just tell the person right away, I'm like, "Hey, look, I'm gonna be in Milwaukee on Labor Day weekend, so, uh, [laughs] just letting you know." All right, man. Well, it's good to hear from you.
11:48
We're gonna, we're gonna- Oh, yeah, it's good to hear... it's good to hear you guys' voice too. Um, uh, I will be in contact, and, uh, we'll talk to you guys very soon. Have a lot of fun this weekend for me, please.
11:58
Okay. Will do. All right, Big Zach, say peace. Peace. Peace to Big Zach. Send me videos. Send me videos and stuff. Okay. We'll see. That sounds like a good idea. All right. Bye-bye Espe- especially with Annie.
12:09
[laughs] Especially with Annie. I'm sure she'll be around. All right, later. All right. Take it easy, yeah. Peace. All right, Big Sexy out. [cowbell] Oh, it's- Oh, geez. We're already at the top of the hill.
12:22
[laughs] Fuck me. JK's, uh, violently opening the show beer. Well, I'm trying to overcompensate for the amazing amount of, uh, noise bleed happening- Well these, yeah, so-...
12:33
with everything that's tapping and hitting- Yeah, right. So, okay... and breathing and- Well the- Like, my beard is hitting the can- Yeah... and [laughs] making like a, just a little bit of a crck noise.
12:43
Yeah, so we're, I mean, we're, we're- So what are we testing here? Beta. We're, we're trying to- Beta, beta, beta... we're trying to figure out- Feed me...
12:48
a setup that's gonna work well outside, and w- it, we, we gotta do it without AC power too, I think. Um, and we're also gonna be doing it with people who have, are not professional microphone users. Right.
13:01
So I'm trying to come up with a setup that allows people to be a little bit more comfortable sitting instead of having the mic right in their mug and, you know. Headphones and shit like that.
13:11
So, so instead, our normal mics are dynamic mics, which is what you might find in a radio studio. Ha-ha. [laughs] And the- Fabulous... and the mics that JK and, uh, Tony are currently using...
13:22
By the way, JK and Tony are here in the studio. Oh, yeah. We are. Hi. Hi. My name's Sven. Hi, Sven. You might, you probably knew that already. That's why I had to ring cowbells and- Yes. So the-...
13:30
fly up a beer on the ground... the, the mics they're using are condenser mics, which tend to pull in a lot more noise, including, like, the airplane outside or- Yeah. I was like, damn. They're m- [laughs]
13:43
Or th- this, like- Why your nostrils? Why are you snorting? I'm s- [sniffs] Yeah. Or, or the sound of a, of a beard hitting a, a beer can. Yeah. Right. Wow. Right. Yeah. That is impressive.
13:55
[laughs] So they're more s- yeah. They're more sensitive- I kept hearing it, and I was like, Jesus Christ... bigger, bigger ranges of, uh, of s- of sounds, uh, not really close to the mic.
14:05
Anyway, so you, you'll probably hear a little more background noise. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. But that's okay, because we're gonna be outside and we're gonna have a bunch of people. Um, today's show beer is brought to you by JK.
14:15
Yeah. But, and I like how it, the, the beer sounds opening. This looks gorgeous. Yeah. It's- Condenser microphones. What is it? What is it? What is it? Where is it? It is, uh- Brew Free or Die.
14:29
A blood orange IPA from the 21st Amendment Brewery. My- 7%. Wow. Blood orange. My, uh, my knowledge of the Constitution isn't that great. [laughs] I just saw the 21 and then I- I don't know what the 21st Amendment is.
14:45
[laughs] I c- I, I see- Hopefully it's, you know- Is it the one they-... you have the right to drink beer... most likely... it's not the one they just repealed or anything like that? Or they want to invoke, I don't know.
14:53
[laughs] Yeah. Or, uh- On previous, uh- Yeah. So-... executives... when you haven't, uh, done any, any constitutional study for 35 years, I've just forgot about it. Yeah. Um- Since it's not everyday use for me. Exactly.
15:05
As I'm going slowly talking about it. It's not a bad beer at all. Yeah. I, um, I went into the beer cave over at, uh, uh, Downer Wine & Spirits, and they really have a, a nice little craft cooler there. Yeah.
15:23
For sure. They're- I kinda, I kinda got, I, k- you kinda lose yourself a little bit. It's like, oh, I could make a case for about... So there definitely is a slight orange tinge at the f- at the finish of the beer.
15:36
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Whatever we were drinking beforehand I liked too. Mm-hmm. Tony, Tony brought some, uh, enlightened- Yeah. I think that-... some single hop pale ale. I don't know. Yeah. That's- It's, it's good...
15:46
I think he makes good beers, man. I think that that one has to kind of get off my taste buds. Even if you have to drink it when there's people. Yeah. We should have some crackers and cheese. Yeah.
15:53
It's the Pepsi challenge, you know. We need the, the- I like the cracker and cheese idea. What are you doing, man? 21st Amendment was the repealing of the prohibition. Oh, well that makes more sense- Oh...
16:03
than anything else. Yeah. So, yeah. It was gonna bug me, 'cause I see the 21 and then I, but I keep hearing about the 25th Amendment. That's the one- I don't wanna bring into politics too much.
16:14
That's the one where the crazy people get kicked out of the White House? Well, yeah. [laughs] And it, see... [laughs] Yeah. I'm, I'm, I'm not even gonna look.
16:23
I'm, I, I look, I can see the soapbox and I don't wanna go on it. [laughs] Kick it away before I even step on it. Oh. See? The, the, the orange man is coming here twice n- next month, so.
16:35
Hey, yeah, well I've seen the, the shit on, uh... Oh, they bought out the, some [laughs] fucking billboards. Yes. Right? They're everywhere. And those are, they're ominous and k- Milwaukee loves Trump. Um, no we don't.
16:46
No, no. Well- I mean, if we're turning it, it's turning it- Some people do... turning it how they live. Yeah. See what they, uh- You know, it's like, oh wait, that was there all the time.
16:54
[laughs] They, they took out the quotes. Milwaukee likes, quote, unquote, "To kick the shit outta Trump." Quote, unquote. Unquote. You dumb quote. You bastard. So- I started my quote and I didn't unquote, whatever.
17:08
[laughs] See? That's like, yeah, yeah. All right. So, uh, I don't know. We didn't... W- so it, we're, let's see the stem. We got the stem here, and, um- Ah, it's disappointing... and so two things about this stem.
17:21
It's a Thompson Elite. Uh, it's the old 25.4, so probably, I don't know how old it is. It's gotta be seven, eight years old probably. Listen to that. [rattling sound] I like it.
17:32
Uh, and somebody over-torqued it or something, Tony. That's me. And, uh, broke the faceplate on it.
17:38
And I called our fine friends at Thompson, and they informed me that, A, they have not made this faceplate since [rattling sound] 2020. And I thought- This is two fucking years ago... well, I thought that- Sorry...
17:49
maybe they had a machine shop, and they had a CAD file, and they could fire it up and make some more faceplates. This can't be the only one that's broken. Right.
17:58
The other thing that's funny about this stem is it has a one-inch adapter inside, and Tony said last time he saw the stem, "Well, I've never seen that before."
18:05
[laughs] It's a Thompson stem with a tw- with a, uh, one-inch adapter. [laughs] And I go, "It's your stem, Tony." [laughs] I have no idea what I used it on. [laughs] I have no idea what I used it on.
18:15
So I don't know, maybe somebody has a broken Thompson stem and still has a faceplate that's good. I think- Yeah... we could probably- If you do, send it to me... yeah, send the faceplate here so Tony- Yeah...
18:22
has a stem that works. It takes a village, everybody. It's a, it's a Thompson part number 40504, 25.4 millimeter. This is a 15 degree by 90 stem. Teamwork makes the dream work, everybody. Yeah. Come on.
18:40
Likewise, if you have a faceplate that's good and you need the back whole stem part- [laughs]... 'cause you broke it- You're right... maybe Tony will send that to you. Yeah, I'll send that to you.
18:48
We'll probably take a picture of that. Maybe we'll put that in the show notes somehow or another. Uh, what else? Hey, I th- I had this in the show notes for last week, but I didn't, I didn't talk about it. There's a
19:02
Digital Warfare Records, uh, website out there that has Joe Buck yourself, whom I love to see live, and Anti-Scene, who I'm kinda curious about, and God Damn Gallows, which- Ah. Oh...
19:15
they have some, they have some really cool old posters from old shows that, uh, those folks were at. So if you are into the scene, maybe you wanna be seeing that. Check it out.
19:26
Digital, it, uh, it's, it's a link in the show notes. Apparently it's a myShopify item, m- however they have it mapped, but the thing is in the show notes if you wanna check that out. Yeah.
19:35
On, uh, Monday, I ran over to Lake Park for, uh, R&B Cadets, and I saw this guy walking around, and he had, like a, kind of a, like a gas shirt or whatever.
19:46
And I look, and he just kinda sl- slung it over his shoulder, and it was Jake Orvis patch. Huge Jake Orvis patch. Member of God Damn Gallows. True that. And it, it was just, it was awesome. [laughs] It was just like...
19:58
So yeah, I, I d- had to take a picture, I mean, without imposing. It was, yeah, kind of sly. But- Their Halloween show at X-Ray Arcade was- Ah... super, super kickass. Missed that one. That was a very good one.
20:09
Uh, if you check my Flickr, maybe I'll put a... I should put a link in the show notes. Wait, I took a bunch of pictures- Mm...
20:15
and was right at, either in front or on the side of the stage, and they, in their glory, it was great. Jake was wearing his concrete, the work boots from the day with his steel toes and- [laughs]...
20:28
but had the masks on and stuff. It was cool. I g- some, some good shots from that show. Awesome, awesome stuff. Uh, interesting, I guess, our, one of our favorite $3 hamburger on Saturday- Hamburger...
20:41
joints is gone now. Klinger's has been sold, and- And now look what it's gonna be. I know. It'll have hamburger-flavored popcorns. They have 20 different flavors- Butterburger-flavored popcorns...
20:50
pop- It's, it's a popcorn- And if they don't have one yet-... store... trademark, JK Living, AKA Michael Jones. [laughs] Yeah. I just, I- [laughs] I'm putting it here first. Okay. I mean, I know it's...
20:59
They must be doing well if they could afford to buy that place, and the company, popcorn comp- company started in 2014, and they have- I th-... 20 different popcorns. Sold at- I think she's killing it.
21:11
Uh, d- is that what sold it at Morphic? I believe so. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's- Lush, Lush Popcorn... Lush Popcorn. Yeah, it's at Morphic or something.
21:16
And they're gonna have some froofy drinks and stuff and whatnot, so let's see what happens with it. I'm not saying I'm gonna give up on the whole thing yet, but I don't like when my $3 hamburgers- [laughs]...
21:27
are no longer available. [laughs] Right. Ah. For popcorn? But- Right. I'm not eating popcorn... there was the, uh, fact-finding mission of the, uh, seasoning blend for- Yes. I found some too... for home replication. Yes.
21:40
I have found some too. [laughs] Molly's got it in the cart. Nice. Amazing. I'm very excited to try it- Yeah... because I think that is the key to... Well, that and an incredibly well-seasoned griddle. Yeah.
21:52
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Although, as you said, other guys make that burger at Klinger's, and it was not the same. So I'm not sure- Right... it was the griddle or- Yeah, it-... the skill or the seasoning. They... What was...
22:03
Yeah. The seasoning, I think, was more liberally applied when Frank was making the burgers. Oh, Frank is the best, man. Yeah.
22:09
He still does, I'm sure, but- It's like, yeah, it's what, are you gonna be, oh, you wanna be healthier? No. Yeah. No, no, no, no, no. Not for three bucks I'm not. No, exactly. Mm-mm.
22:17
I don't think they have a grill where he's working now. Mm-mm. [laughs] Yeah. That's sad. But, you know, the next time I, or the first time I go there and he's working, you gotta ask him for a Furburger.
22:30
[laughs] Furburger. [laughs] Is he the one? Well, you know what they got, you know what they got right next door Furburgers? In the dog park. Oh. Oh, you're silly. [laughs] Silly pants. Uh, air show this past weekend.
22:40
Did anybody- Right. Crazy... attend the air show? Uh, it scared the shit out of me while I was working on the floor one day- [laughs]... so I promptly gave it the finger. No. I went down to- It's stupid...
22:50
I went down to the North Point, uh, water tower area just 'cause of the vantage point. Right. And whatever. It's just military propaganda, you guys. Yeah. What are you doing? I know. It's not- I know. Whatever.
23:02
I'm not paying shit. Yeah. I'm not going down there. I'm not showing up. I'm not giving up. You are paying shit because you're paying your taxes, and that's what's fueling these useless vehicles. Well, whatever.
23:10
I'm not paying extra. Okay. I'm bringing my own goddamn beer. Yeah, we, we crossed a subject here that you did not wanna cross. I'm just saying- Well, hey...
23:16
they're the, well, first of all- If they're, if they're, if they're gonna invade my ear space with all this other bullshit, I might as well, like, wa- like, watch it instead of being taken a, you know, by surprise.
23:24
So these were the Blue Angels in case everybody wants to know what we're talking about. With a woman this year, I found out. And also, they're blue and yellow.
23:32
I was thinking, "Why don't we just send them to Ukraine 'cause they're already painted the right colors?" Good call. Right? Uh, obviously- And at the speed they were going, it would be what? 20 minutes? Right?
23:41
[laughs] Um, I watched both practices, and then, uh, Saturday at the top of the hill. Yeah. And I was disappointed that the whole top of the bluff on, on Terrace had the...
23:51
It's so overgrown that you can't see anything down below the bluff anymore. It's been- Oh, yeah... it has not been c-... the weed up, there's so many invasive species in there. Yeah. Let's talk about that for a while.
24:04
[laughs] Um, and I'm just glad that everybody's dog is not crying anymore, 'cause there's a bunch of whiners about that stuff and- And hu- yeah, and humans Even me. Ugh. My dog was so pissed. God. Well, you know what?
24:16
It's one day. It's two days and it's- Actually, it's four days... it's actually four days- [laughs] Total fucking bullshit And now you don't want fireworks either probably. I, my dog hates fireworks. Um- Party pooper...
24:26
I'm, I'm- Take your dog to the fireworks, get him used to it. I don't know. [laughs] That's not how it works. Yeah. [laughs] But in other more- It is not how it works...
24:32
more gl- glorious, fun news, there was, um, a, just a happenstance meeting after that aforementioned, uh, show I went to on Monday. I was like, "Oh, shit."
24:45
They end at 8:00, like prompt, and I was like, "Well, that sucks. I thought- Yeah... they were gonna bleed over at least to like 8:30 or something like that.
24:53
Since, uh, since my dinner didn't end till 8:30, I wasn't gonna get there in time to be in a half an hour past when they stopped playing. [laughs] Well, yeah, and I'm like, I don't know, and I had another beer left.
25:04
[laughs] And I'm like I'm trying to piece this out just perfectly, so I came back to Bremen. And all of a sudden this crew of like, I don't know, 10, 15, 20 younger guys and girls, um, with like all these vests.
25:23
And they were, um, riding from Chicago. I think they li- they were lily padding like Chicago to some- somewhere, uh, uh, northern Illinois and then I think Lake Geneva, now they were in Milwaukee out to Mantwok- Okay...
25:39
to jump on the ferry and then do some shit over across Michigan. The Lake to Lake Crew. Mm. Was this, this was bicyclists or motor- Yeah, bi- bicyclists Motorcyclists. Oh, cool, cool. Bicyclists.
25:53
So they were, you know, and they're just like trying to [laughs] it was like shift change at, at, uh, Bremen- Bremen... 'cause they were looking for food. They were just like, "Oh, uh," you know.
26:02
I mean, you see Bremen Cafe, you're assuming a cafe. They, they got pizza. Well, you know, it depends on who's working it. Apparently some people don't wanna- Make you pizza... make pizzas. They always make me pizza.
26:13
Well... They love you, Greg. That's true. I don't know. They just said, you know, "Oh, we'll be on our own." Go to Nissen Dormats right down the block. Right. Well, it was, you know, it was like approaching 9:00-ish.
26:25
Oh, at night? Yeah, there's- Yeah, and there wasn't a lot of choices. Where it tracks. Well, I, I gave them to Corazon and- Yeah... I don't know, I, I said Corazon or Wonderland in that zone. Well, 10, 10 PM. Yeah.
26:36
And I think they ended up at Wonder Boy, but I don't know. It was in- Yeah, I think-... it was intriguing. I mean, they don't seem to have- Yeah...
26:42
I, I talked to them about, uh, they didn't really have like a social media presence, which is kinda cool, so it's like- Yeah. Their, their own- This, this group of cyclists? Yeah. Their own little gang and whatever.
26:56
I got a card and a- They're probably a club, not a gang... I got a card and a patch. Were they like Bike Black Ribbon kinda gang, or were they- Kinda... more of a- Yeah... were they riding tall bikes and jousting?
27:07
No, no. [laughs] Not, not, not that, no. They were just, I don't know. They were just all on kinda, it, like younger us's. Ah. Spea- [laughs]
27:18
speaking of, uh- I don't know how, there's no other real descriptor of, of that, going like, "Oh, let's-" Speaking of Wonder Boy, um, my n- Is that another line? I'm just gonna...
27:29
My neighbor Sean pointed out the fact that, um, Fartbar and Wonder Boy close Burleigh during the Riverwest 24. So therefore it's going to kinda like
27:42
give you a reason to turn onto Fratney because of Humboldt being all screwed up. Okay.
27:49
So when you do checkpoint two and you're coming back up Fratney, you can just turn right and there won't be any problem with, you know, people not knowing the route, et cetera, and continuing on.
27:59
I think my route is gonna be good. I like your route. My route will be good. Matter of fact, I got beer tonight and you know what's really fun to do? Practice lap? Ride up Humboldt in the gravel side,
28:13
'cause that's what I took all- Oh... the way up Humboldt. I passed a lot of cars. I think people are gonna use that. And I laughed hysterically.
28:20
I don't, it's, I, it was supposed to be paved and switched over by now- Yeah, it was, but it ain't... but it's just not gonna happen. Yeah. Not unless they get busy tomorrow. Well, yeah.
28:28
And you ne- nah, that would be amazing if they were- Yeah, they can't. [laughs] Yeah. I mean, well, the last time that they like, they resurfaced it, that was pretty impressive. Mm-hmm.
28:38
'Cause that was at the fucking zero hour. Mm-hmm. This is more than resurfacing. This is rebuilding. Oh, I know. I understand. This is like the Romans have come and made a new road bed and all that. Yeah, right.
28:48
Uh, so then, you know, Riverwest 24 tonight and, uh, tomorrow. And then also Warsaw 24- Warsaw... tomorrow and Sunday. So got a lot of stuff going on. Get out there and ride your bike, I guess.
29:01
Yeah, I'm gonna take my- If-... uh, a long,
29:04
a couple long turns depending on the timing of what's playing over at that Brady Street Downhome Festival that has me on the same- There's some great bands- And even later, like, uh- Which aggravates me- Yeah...
29:18
because I really would like to see them too. Also Kinger's Party. Yeah. Yeah. [laughs] Which is- That's incidental... right in that zone. What, what, well, shit, what is it?
29:28
Like every other year there's some sort of fucking calamity. Fracas, I like to call it. A kerfuffle. You wanna get there about 7:00 PM and get your tickets early for the knockdown drag outs- Oh, fuck no...
29:40
between friends who have become inebriated. [laughs] So nice. Dude, it is- It's good stuff... it's exhausting. Are they friends again in the morning? They are, aren't they? They're antagonistic friends, yeah. Mm.
29:50
To- totally. No, don't. Just like every Wisconsin, you know, person has some- Well, I know 5:30 is, uh, Cactus Brothers on one of the stages.
29:58
I gotta figure out which one that is, so I wanna peek a bit of that And then burn off, like, whatever lappage I wanna do. All right. At first I was thinking 24 laps in 24 hours would be a
30:11
fair test of- Be right in that hundo zone for miles... but then I thought about it more [laughs] and I think I'll just do half of that. [laughs] I just- 'Cause I'm only half as good as I think I am. [laughs] Only...
30:22
[laughs] I'm taking a play off my own playbook from one night. Come on, man. Had to go against, uh, or Kenny Nielsen had, I can't remember, I think it was 26 laps, and
30:35
that's- You- Like, he's, like, this is, that's all I wanted to get to. JK, you could bust out 24 laps in like- And-... three hours. I could. Wow. But then- 100 miles in three hours. He's- I don't think, I don't think-...
30:45
a star. They're nice. No, a lap is four miles. Right. So 24 laps would be- Less than 100 miles... 100 miles, give or take. Like s- four miles less. But why? [laughs] Or whatever. And then I'd be so tired. There you go.
30:59
I'd be so tired, and then I wouldn't be having fun. It's ma- it's mathematics, Tony... you know?
31:03
I mean, the, the balance between actually doing it and having fun doing it, not like, "Oh, damn it, I'm behind the pace and blah, blah, blah." Have you ever tried an ecto bike? [phone alarm] Oh, shit. Tony's dinking.
31:16
Sorry, I'm dinking. All right. Anyway, it's time to- Oh, that's not gonna change anything, putting it by your crotch. [laughs] It's, it's, it's time to mosey out of here anyway. Thank you. Thank you, everybody.
31:25
Uh, please enjoy the River West 24. Please- Don't be a jerk... please enjoy the fact that Big Sexy will be here on, in Labor Day rather than the 24, which may be a good thing, or who knows?
31:37
Anyway, next week, I don't know, we're gonna have a whole bunch of more stuff to throw up on the old interwebs. Until then, hey, bye now. Bye-bye. Bye. [upbeat music] You're
