- 0:04Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Yes, indeed.
- 0:07Speaker 3: News there on the Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday evening.
- 0:11Speaker 3: The time is 6.15, which means it's time for.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Hey, guys. Text here from Steve. What's for tea, New Zealand?
- 0:20Speaker 2: With me, Keezy.
- 0:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Yeah. That's right. Yeah. Now you're talking. I know, right?
- 0:30Speaker 2: The segment where you text in on 3483 what you
- 0:33Speaker 2: were having for dinner and then we read it out
- 0:35Speaker 2: on the radio and you can get a $ 50 reburger voucher.
- 0:38Speaker 4: How bloody good. I can't believe no one's thought of this.
- 0:41Speaker 4: Nobody ever has done this on radio.
- 0:43Speaker 5: It's genius, Keezy.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Thank you. It's also four years old now.
- 0:47Speaker 4: Yeah, no one's getting sick of it. Nah, it's crazy.
- 0:50Speaker 5: Doesn't age.
- 0:51Speaker 6: Nah.
- 0:51Speaker 4: G'day, guys.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Russell here.
- 0:54Speaker 4: It would be like saying, oh, we've been doing the
- 0:57Speaker 4: news for four years. Exactly. You want to get rid
- 1:00Speaker 4: of it. The news always changes. So does what's on
- 1:01Speaker 4: the dinner keys.
- 1:02Speaker 2: What's dinner news, isn't it?
- 1:05Speaker 4: Russell Coots.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Russell, yeah, Coots. No, sorry, it was Crow.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Yeah, sorry.
- 1:09Speaker 3: What?
- 1:10Speaker 2: My mistake.
- 1:11Speaker 3: G'day, guys.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Russell Crow here. Dinner tonight, sausage surprise.
- 1:16Speaker 5: Well, I think that was very well timed.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Sausage surprise.
- 1:20Speaker 2: I love sausage.
- 1:20Speaker 5: I've got to be fair. I don't mind a saucy.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Do you, mate?
- 1:24Speaker 3: And a nice big thick bit of white bread, sauce
- 1:27Speaker 3: and musty.
- 1:29Speaker 4: But I don't think that's a surprise. No.
- 1:31Speaker 2: That's a sizzle. That's pretty standard. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:33Speaker 3: But I mean, I was talking in general terms about
- 1:36Speaker 3: your sausage.
- 1:37Speaker 4: The thing I don't like about this is the surprise.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Yeah. You want to know what you're getting.
- 1:41Speaker 4: I want to know what I'm getting.
- 1:43Speaker 5: Do you remember the old curried sausages?
- 1:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:46Speaker 5: Back in our day.
- 1:47Speaker 4: Yeah, curried or a deviled is a similar thing, isn't it?
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yes, yeah. Oh, slightly different.
- 1:51Speaker 5: Well, curried is a.
- 1:52Speaker 4: Foul.
- 1:53Speaker 5: Foul. No, yummy. I like a deviled.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Mama Keezy made a good... Curried sausage.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Who?
- 2:01Speaker 2: My mum, Mon. She made a really good one. Doubt it.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Hang on, man.
- 2:07Speaker 4: G'day, guys.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Trevor here.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Gilmeister. Trevor Gilmeister.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it's Trevor Gilmeister.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Trevor the Axe. Gilmeister. G'day, guys.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I'll be having beef and Guinness casserole on couscous. which
- 2:25Speaker 2: is interesting. Although the couscous is a pasta, it's.
- 2:28Speaker 4: Not as bad as a grain. I had the grain
- 2:30Speaker 4: in my mind. Yeah, I'd give that a run.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Were you thinking quinoa?
- 2:34Speaker 4: Yeah. I'll be honest with you, I'd rather have it
- 2:36Speaker 4: with a mash.
- 2:36Speaker 5: Agreed.
- 2:37Speaker 4: I'd have it with a mashed potato. Yes, I agree
- 2:39Speaker 4: with that.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Well, the kids are having baked beans for being fussy bastards. Yeah,
- 2:43Speaker 2: fussy bastards.
- 2:44Speaker 5: Yeah, good call.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Good call.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Yeah, and to be honest, baked beans are delicious.
- 2:47Speaker 3: It is.
- 2:47Speaker 5: Baked beans on toast, nothing wrong with it.
- 2:49Speaker 2: G'day, guys. Matty here. M-A-D-I.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Matty. Matty. That doesn't sound like you're pronouncing that right. G'day, guys.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Madi here.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Oh, Madi.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the one.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Madi Linsami.
- 3:02Speaker 2: That's right. Madi Linsami.
- 3:05Speaker 4: Yes, nice.
- 3:06Speaker 2: G'day, guys. Dinner tonight, chicken schnitty with some delish mashed
- 3:10Speaker 2: spuds and veggies. Cheers.
- 3:12Speaker 4: She, old Madi Linsami there, she should give some of
- 3:15Speaker 4: her spuds to old mate. What was his name?
- 3:18Speaker 2: Oh, the old, was it Trev?
- 3:20Speaker 4: Yeah, Trev Gilmeister. Old mate who's got the pie.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Yeah, totally. What about this one here? G'day there, fellas.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Delilah here.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Samson and Delilah. Jase?
- 3:33Speaker 5: That's right.
- 3:35Speaker 2: It was Samson and Delilah.
- 3:37Speaker 3: G'day, guys.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Curry pumpkin soup with a spicy pumpkin soup. Curry. Yum, delicious.
- 3:43Speaker 5: That's pretty good, actually.
- 3:44Speaker 2: But I've never thought of doing this. Garlic naan on
- 3:47Speaker 2: the side.
- 3:48Speaker 5: Yeah, why not?
- 3:49Speaker 4: That's good.
- 3:49Speaker 5: Yeah, that's really good.
- 3:50Speaker 4: I like that.
- 3:51Speaker 5: Is it creamy?
- 3:54Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 3:55Speaker 5: I'd put a cream in that.
- 3:56Speaker 4: What kind of cream?
- 3:57Speaker 5: Just cream.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Jason, can I ask you about your... Sorry to get
- 4:02Speaker 4: away from what's happening over here with you, Keezy.
- 4:04Speaker 2: It's okay, buddy.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Your toasted sandwich last night. Oh, yeah.
- 4:10Speaker 6: To.
- 4:10Speaker 5: Thick white bread. Ham on the bone. Just chopped off, obviously.
- 4:16Speaker 5: Your red onion.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Your cheese.
- 4:19Speaker 3: And then I had a little bit of the glaze
- 4:21Speaker 3: left over.
- 4:22Speaker 5: Put that on there. And some fresh chilli. Cooked it
- 4:26Speaker 5: in the fry pan.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Beautiful.
- 4:28Speaker 4: Good eating. Use the lid there to make sure you're
- 4:30Speaker 4: melting that cheese.
- 4:31Speaker 5: No, no. Just put the spatula on top of it and.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Then turn it over. Oh, so you did it on
- 4:36Speaker 2: the fry pan rather than the toasty machine.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't have a toasty machine. I don't have
- 4:39Speaker 4: a toasty machine.
- 4:40Speaker 5: It was magnificent.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Just the one?
- 4:43Speaker 3: Yes. cauliflower and cheese from, you know, because we had
- 4:48Speaker 3: that cauliflower. My wife turned that into cauliflower and cheese.
- 4:52Speaker 2: How'd she do that?
- 4:53Speaker 5: Put cheese in it.
- 4:55Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 4:59Speaker 4: Yes, indeed.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Radiohead there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon,
- 5:05Speaker 3: the time 4.39.
- 5:07Speaker 4: Fellas, I don't know if I told you this, but yesterday...
- 5:10Speaker 4: I was very busy.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Performing in a new role in a big feature film
- 5:15Speaker 2: that's coming up.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. Really?
- 5:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:18Speaker 4: That's awesome. I don't like to talk about it in
- 5:20Speaker 4: case I get fired at some point during the process.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 5:24Speaker 4: So I went out on set there, and the director
- 5:28Speaker 4: pulled me aside, and the director is also the lead
- 5:33Speaker 4: actor in this thing.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Right, okay.
- 5:34Speaker 4: So it's a very personal project. And in this particular film,
- 5:39Speaker 4: I was going to be playing the spouse of this person.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Right, so the director and lead character's spouse.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Yeah, husband, I guess you could say. And so a pivotal,
- 5:52Speaker 4: very important role. Obviously, yeah. Anyway, so I read the
- 5:56Speaker 4: script and reread it and saw my lines and everything.
- 5:58Speaker 4: You try and give yourself a little bit of a background,
- 6:00Speaker 4: what sort of a person is this? And for me,
- 6:02Speaker 4: it felt very much in the way that it was
- 6:04Speaker 4: written that I knew the kind of character that this was,
- 6:08Speaker 4: and that this person would have a certain way of speaking.
- 6:10Speaker 2: And I had it all sort of sorted out. Anyway,
- 6:12Speaker 2: got there, got to set.
- 6:14Speaker 4: We went inside into a different room just to run
- 6:17Speaker 4: the lines and just to work through it. Now, I
- 6:20Speaker 4: immediately went into my character, you know, just to give
- 6:24Speaker 4: the director a taste of what was going to happen
- 6:26Speaker 4: when we got on set. And the director immediately stopped
- 6:30Speaker 4: the proceedings and just said, oh, no, no, no. Oh,
- 6:34Speaker 4: like that.
- 6:35Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Not like that. I just want you to just be you.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Old Mogi.
- 6:44Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, okay.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Old Mogi.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:47Speaker 4: What you're doing there is, and I quote, interesting, and is,
- 6:51Speaker 4: I quote, an interesting idea, but I have no.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Interest in that.
- 6:57Speaker 5: Right, okay.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:00Speaker 4: So, you know, it can be a fairly humbling experience,
- 7:03Speaker 4: can't it?
- 7:03Speaker 2: It certainly can, yeah.
- 7:05Speaker 4: I mean, obviously honoured to be in there, Keezy, but
- 7:08Speaker 4: just straight away you're on the back foot. Your confidence
- 7:11Speaker 4: has taken a bit of a knock.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Well, I find that certainly my very short, very brief
- 7:16Speaker 2: foray into not landing any acting gigs, that the whole
- 7:20Speaker 2: industry is built around just smashing and destroying your confidence. Yes.
- 7:25Speaker 4: That's right. Or building it up.
- 7:27Speaker 5: Right.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Or smashing it again. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:30Speaker 5: That's why actors are such pieces of work.
- 7:35Speaker 4: Tell me about it.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Because they get smashed and smashed and then they break
- 7:40Speaker 3: through and they become full of themselves.
- 7:43Speaker 4: That's right.
- 7:44Speaker 2: So there's no in between.
- 7:45Speaker 4: Yeah, that's right. And that's a facade, isn't it?
- 7:48Speaker 2: Yes.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Not unlike the sets that are made for movies where
- 7:51Speaker 4: it's just the front. There's no actual, you know, if
- 7:53Speaker 4: you're walking down the street, they'll have the facade, the
- 7:55Speaker 4: face there of the building. There's nothing behind it.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. It's like when you're talking about being on
- 8:01Speaker 2: Hunt for the Wilderpeople. And you were waiting for Taika
- 8:05Speaker 2: to give you some sort of feedback and he just
- 8:06Speaker 2: said nothing.
- 8:07Speaker 4: That's right.
- 8:08Speaker 2: You're there like– that made you uncomfortable as well and
- 8:11Speaker 2: shared your confidence.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:12Speaker 2: So he's not talking to me. What's going on?
- 8:14Speaker 4: That's right. When they do talk to you, they're like,
- 8:16Speaker 4: not like that. So, well, I don't want you to
- 8:18Speaker 4: talk to me if you're going to talk to me
- 8:19Speaker 4: like that. I just want you to tell me that
- 8:22Speaker 4: I rule.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:23Speaker 4: You know?
- 8:23Speaker 2: Totally. Is that too hard?
- 8:25Speaker 3: It's always very– It's a very nerve-wracking time when you're
- 8:30Speaker 3: presenting your interpretation.
- 8:32Speaker 5: Of the character to a director. You know what I mean?
- 8:36Speaker 3: I can't say I've experienced what you've experienced, Maggie, because
- 8:39Speaker 3: it's generally the feedback's been nailed it.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Yes, that's exactly right. Right, so they looked at you
- 8:45Speaker 2: on Brokenwood and they were like, yeah, that's it.
- 8:46Speaker 5: Totally, man, totally.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Really? Yeah. Because that's not how I normally sound, of course.
- 8:51Speaker 3: But I gave Ray from Brokenwood a certain, you know,
- 8:54Speaker 3: je ne sais quoi. I polished him up a bit.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Yeah, you polished him up.
- 9:02Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, did you?
- 9:03Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. That's good stuff. And so did you change it?
- 9:08Speaker 2: Did you tweak it?
- 9:08Speaker 4: Well, what I did was I just went back to
- 9:10Speaker 4: being old Mogi. Yeah, okay. And that was essentially what
- 9:13Speaker 4: the person wanted in the first place.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Yes.
- 9:15Speaker 4: It was just, oh, I thought you'd be good. And
- 9:17Speaker 4: so it just probably imagined me just being myself, which
- 9:20Speaker 4: means no acting required, which is actually the only thing
- 9:23Speaker 4: I've ever been good at.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:24Speaker 4: I've never actually been any good at acting. I'm only
- 9:27Speaker 4: good at being myself.
- 9:29Speaker 5: Well, you're very good at being you.
- 9:30Speaker 2: And saying the words that somebody else has written.
- 9:32Speaker 4: Now, if you want them to sound exactly like me,
- 9:34Speaker 4: I can do that. Yes. Anything outside of that is
- 9:37Speaker 4: probably outside of my capabilities and capacity as an actor.
- 9:40Speaker 4: And even as I was saying it out loud to
- 9:42Speaker 4: the director, I was thinking, Jesus, this is shit. Right.
- 9:47Speaker 2: And you still won the Best Actor Award as well.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Isn't that amazing?
- 9:50Speaker 3: Oh, holy man.
- 9:51Speaker 4: Oh, God, that was amazing, wasn't it?
- 9:53Speaker 5: And rightly so.
- 9:54Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:55Speaker 4: Actually, I'll bring it in tomorrow, Keezy. You can get
- 9:57Speaker 4: a photo with that little trophy. With your award.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that'd be nice.
- 10:01Speaker 4: Okay.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Jase, could you bring your one in as well?
- 10:03Speaker 5: Yeah, sure, man. Here's Metallica.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Metallica.
- 10:09Speaker 6: Oh, g'day, mate.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Oh, hi, mate, yeah.
- 10:11Speaker 6: Look, if you want the chance to win all our
- 10:14Speaker 6: on-air competitions and stuff and get amongst the live conversation,
- 10:19Speaker 6: tune in to the Hauraki Big Show, four to seven
- 10:22Speaker 6: weekdays on Radio Hauraki and iHeartRadio.
- 10:27Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 10:30Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Foo Fighters there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this
- 10:36Speaker 3: Thursday evening. Now, fellas, we haven't really gone into detail
- 10:40Speaker 3: about your big date last night.
- 10:42Speaker 5: The two of you met.
- 10:44Speaker 3: You came up behind me in town while I was
- 10:46Speaker 3: walking home with my skull candies on because you had
- 10:49Speaker 3: a date in town, apparently.
- 10:50Speaker 4: That was quite interesting because we weren't trying to catch
- 10:52Speaker 4: you up and, in fact, I didn't even know that...
- 10:55Speaker 4: You were in front of us until I nearly tripped
- 10:57Speaker 4: over you.
- 10:57Speaker 3: Right.
- 10:58Speaker 2: You know what's funny is I thought you were intentionally
- 11:00Speaker 2: walking really fast to catch up to Jase.
- 11:02Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I was just cold.
- 11:03Speaker 2: That's just how you were cold.
- 11:04Speaker 4: I was cold, yeah.
- 11:05Speaker 2: And I'm a fast walker, Keith.
- 11:07Speaker 4: You are. I walk, I don't mess around. So, Keith,
- 11:08Speaker 4: I've just seen how you walk now, Jase, but you
- 11:11Speaker 4: left the studio about an hour before us.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Yes, that's what surprised me.
- 11:15Speaker 5: And I was like, hang about, how did that happen?
- 11:16Speaker 4: You're only about 50 metres in front of us.
- 11:18Speaker 2: But I did notice for every one stride of Mogies,
- 11:21Speaker 2: Jase did about seven. Yeah.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:23Speaker 2: And he was making that little, that normal... That noise
- 11:26Speaker 2: when Fred Flintstone's bowling.
- 11:29Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But, yeah, we hung out last night.
- 11:33Speaker 4: It was a hell of a day. Yes.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Well, as I said in the podcast, you know, in
- 11:37Speaker 3: the disclaimer, when I came in today, Keezy had all
- 11:41Speaker 3: the makings of a big night. Yes.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely.
- 11:44Speaker 5: He had the hooded eyes. He was a bit moody.
- 11:47Speaker 5: His hair was all mussed up.
- 11:50Speaker 4: Well, can I tell you, it took a bit of arranging.
- 11:53Speaker 4: We got to the venue, and our name was on
- 11:57Speaker 4: the door. It wasn't available for just anybody.
- 12:00Speaker 5: Yeah, sure.
- 12:00Speaker 2: You wouldn't have been able to go in.
- 12:01Speaker 4: You wouldn't have been able to go in. Right, okay, yeah,
- 12:03Speaker 4: no fair. So then we get in there, and I
- 12:04Speaker 4: buy Keezy, because it felt like the right thing to do,
- 12:07Speaker 4: because I.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Chose the venue.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Yeah. Bought him an espresso martini.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it was very nice.
- 12:12Speaker 4: Very nice.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Did they have a bar in there, did they? Oh, yeah.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Okay.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Keezy moved on to the Rabbit Ranch Pinot Noir.
- 12:19Speaker 2: And to be honest, I'm more of a cab-sav guy.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Very nice Pinot Noir, though.
- 12:23Speaker 4: The Rabbit Ranch is very good.
- 12:24Speaker 3: It is.
- 12:25Speaker 5: In my day, the Pinot was my favourite.
- 12:27Speaker 4: You like that?
- 12:28Speaker 5: I like a Pinot.
- 12:29Speaker 4: I had some bubbles. And then we just sort of
- 12:31Speaker 4: took a little walk around the venue because there was
- 12:34Speaker 4: a lot to take in, wasn't there, Keezy?
- 12:36Speaker 2: I was taking it all in. There was lots of
- 12:38Speaker 2: people there.
- 12:38Speaker 5: Yeah, it looked like it.
- 12:40Speaker 4: You were hoovering it up.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Yeah, well, to be honest, there was free food, hors
- 12:43Speaker 2: d'oeuvres and stuff. It was, should we say what it was, right?
- 12:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:47Speaker 2: It was a store opening. Yeah. In Queen Street, all right?
- 12:50Speaker 2: It's a concept store.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Yes. The building built, interestingly, in 1928, Keezy. That's right.
- 12:55Speaker 4: It was one of the first cantilevered buildings, so it
- 12:58Speaker 4: didn't have the brick pillars in the middle holding the
- 13:00Speaker 4: whole joint up.
- 13:01Speaker 2: It's just one long open space, probably about 50, 60
- 13:04Speaker 2: metres long.
- 13:04Speaker 5: I think I know the space you're talking about.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Nah, it's not that one.
- 13:07Speaker 4: No, definitely not that one. And anyway, then Keezy sort
- 13:10Speaker 4: of got lost in a world of video games. You
- 13:12Speaker 4: would have seen it on my Instagram story there.
- 13:17Speaker 2: That's right. So I was doing that and making those noises.
- 13:23Speaker 2: They had a simulator as well. Gran Turismo, who could
- 13:26Speaker 2: do the fastest lap of which track was it?
- 13:29Speaker 4: Suzuka.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Yeah, Suzuka. And an Aston Martin.
- 13:32Speaker 5: In Japan.
- 13:33Speaker 2: GT3. I think it is in Japan, actually, Jase.
- 13:36Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 13:37Speaker 2: And old Keezy hit the top spot.
- 13:39Speaker 4: Top spot. He won a prize. Did he? He won
- 13:42Speaker 4: a prize. So that's pretty cool. Jase hates the day
- 13:44Speaker 4: that I was good at something. He was number one.
- 13:46Speaker 4: The first lap, I've never seen somebody crash so much. Yeah.
- 13:49Speaker 4: But the second lap, he did do well, Jase. And
- 13:52Speaker 4: he won a prize, which was nice.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I won a prize.
- 13:56Speaker 5: What was the prize?
- 13:58Speaker 2: It was this little, like, thing that you put, you
- 14:00Speaker 2: plug into your computer.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:02Speaker 2: And then when you hit the buttons.
- 14:03Speaker 4: It goes.
- 14:07Speaker 2: I'm a hamstring. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyway, it was good.
- 14:12Speaker 2: It was good. And you had a cool pair of
- 14:14Speaker 2: gloves you got. Oh, I had some gloves.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I was given some gaming gloves.
- 14:17Speaker 5: Oh, how good.
- 14:18Speaker 2: For when you're gaming so you don't get blisters.
- 14:19Speaker 5: Yeah, well, because you get very sweaty when you game, eh?
- 14:23Speaker 5: You get very sweaty hands.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Sure do.
- 14:27Speaker 5: What can I ask, fellas? What time did you finish up?
- 14:30Speaker 2: Seriously, 9 p.m. I was out of there. They actually
- 14:33Speaker 2: kicked me out.
- 14:33Speaker 4: You got kicked out closing.
- 14:35Speaker 5: Were you wearing your gloves?
- 14:36Speaker 2: I was wearing my gloves. And my wife was at
- 14:39Speaker 2: an awards night, which finished at 10, so I came
- 14:41Speaker 2: to work here, sat on that desk in the middle
- 14:44Speaker 2: of the office and ate pizza and watched YouTubes.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Wearing your gloves.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Wearing my gloves.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Douche, douche.
- 14:50Speaker 6: Douche, douche.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Oh, my hamstrings.
- 14:53Speaker 5: Here's Supergrass.
- 14:54Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 14:58Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Radiohead there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this Friday afternoon.
- 15:05Speaker 3: The time is 13 minutes past 4 o'clock. Big day
- 15:10Speaker 3: on Sunday, isn't it, fellas?
- 15:11Speaker 2: Yeah, Father's Day.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:13Speaker 2: You mentioned it earlier and you were both like, what's
- 15:16Speaker 2: that about? I thought Father's Day was great.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Well, I mean, it's always, I suppose, looked upon as
- 15:21Speaker 3: a bit of a celebration of fathers all around the world.
- 15:23Speaker 2: What, Father's Day?
- 15:24Speaker 5: Yeah. You know, where.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Families come together and appreciate all the great work that
- 15:31Speaker 3: fathers do, all the stuff that they do to make
- 15:34Speaker 3: a family work.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Yeah, it sounds great.
- 15:35Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 15:36Speaker 3: First and foremost, of course, making love. to form a
- 15:41Speaker 3: family to become a father. Because, I mean, the reality
- 15:45Speaker 3: is you're not going to have a family without a
- 15:47Speaker 3: father in terms of initially.
- 15:49Speaker 4: And oftentimes, Kesey, what you'll find is a lot of
- 15:53Speaker 4: the credit will go to the mother.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Yes.
- 15:57Speaker 4: She's got nothing without the father. Right. I'm going to
- 15:59Speaker 4: be quite clear about that. Very clear.
- 16:03Speaker 5: Right, okay.
- 16:04Speaker 4: I mean, she does do, like, you know, But without
- 16:07Speaker 4: the father, no one's denying great job. And everybody's very
- 16:13Speaker 4: busy patting them on the back saying they do a
- 16:15Speaker 4: great job.
- 16:15Speaker 5: And, in fact, in that mode, Mogi, I mean, I
- 16:21Speaker 5: think they get their fair share of credit. You know
- 16:23Speaker 5: what I mean?
- 16:24Speaker 4: Could I say more than?
- 16:26Speaker 5: Yes.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Oh, too much credit.
- 16:27Speaker 4: Not too much. You can never get too much credit.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Never get too much. But it's like Love Keezy. Mm-hmm.
- 16:33Speaker 4: There's more than enough love to go around. And just
- 16:36Speaker 4: because you're giving lots of love over here doesn't mean
- 16:39Speaker 4: you can't give a little bit of love over here
- 16:41Speaker 4: as well.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Wasn't that what they're doing?
- 16:42Speaker 4: So what I'm saying is I think we deserve a
- 16:46Speaker 4: little bit more credit than what we get. Just a
- 16:50Speaker 4: little bit.
- 16:50Speaker 5: Just saying, man.
- 16:52Speaker 4: Well, hey. All I'm saying is without the father, where
- 16:56Speaker 4: would the mothers be?
- 16:57Speaker 2: Where would they be? They'd get no credit at all,
- 17:00Speaker 2: would they, Jase? None.
- 17:01Speaker 3: None.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Because there's no fathers there.
- 17:04Speaker 4: Yeah, right. So what I'm saying is, you know, maybe
- 17:08Speaker 4: we could make it a father's month. And just for
- 17:11Speaker 4: one month, a little bit of credit over here.
- 17:14Speaker 3: All right.
- 17:15Speaker 2: An entire month. I mean, it's a bit full on,
- 17:17Speaker 2: don't you think?
- 17:18Speaker 5: Well, when you think about, you know, what fathers bring
- 17:22Speaker 5: to the table.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:24Speaker 5: You know, and I'm not.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Look.
- 17:32Speaker 5: It's massive. And often it goes by the wayside.
- 17:36Speaker 2: That's right.
- 17:38Speaker 5: We don't want to draw attention to it.
- 17:40Speaker 4: I don't want or need any credit. No. Hang on.
- 17:43Speaker 4: But what I'm saying is I should be saying I
- 17:46Speaker 4: don't want or need it. Everybody else shouldn't be deciding
- 17:49Speaker 4: that I don't get it. Yeah. Right. Okay?
- 17:52Speaker 2: Okay, I think I follow you now. Yeah, yeah.
- 17:54Speaker 3: I mean, if you look at it in terms of
- 17:56Speaker 3: what fathers bring, I think a month's not unreasonable.
- 17:59Speaker 4: It's not unreasonable at all.
- 17:59Speaker 5: But I'm not going to ask for a month.
- 18:01Speaker 2: So you're not going to ask?
- 18:02Speaker 4: A month is what I should get, but I'm not
- 18:03Speaker 4: going to ask for it.
- 18:04Speaker 2: No way.
- 18:04Speaker 4: I'm going to shut up and get on with it.
- 18:05Speaker 4: I'm a father. I don't need credit. I don't want credit.
- 18:08Speaker 4: I shut up and I get on with it.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Right. And if I get a lukewarm, badly made coffee at,
- 18:16Speaker 3: Nine in the morning with a bit of soggy toast
- 18:18Speaker 3: and that's it.
- 18:19Speaker 4: A poorly scrawled card five minutes before it's shoved into
- 18:25Speaker 4: the clasp of my hand.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Right.
- 18:27Speaker 5: Then so be it, Keezy.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Couldn't be happier.
- 18:29Speaker 4: That's more than enough. That's too much.
- 18:31Speaker 5: Right.
- 18:32Speaker 2: So what are you saying? Like cancel it? Like get
- 18:34Speaker 2: rid of Father's Day?
- 18:35Speaker 4: Is that what you're saying? All I'm saying is if
- 18:36Speaker 4: somebody offered me a month, I wouldn't say no.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Right.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Okay.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Okay.
- 18:40Speaker 5: What do you love about Father's Day, New Zealand?
- 18:43Speaker 3: Text us 3483.
- 18:45Speaker 5: In the meantime, here's Rage Against the Machine.
