- 0:13This is the Sports Shot Ship with Wayne Candy. You may began, I'm
- 0:19Jackie comes comes, it comes along. Is it just I'm a doing Yeah,
- 0:33I'm gonna go on the way you made Vegan. Welcome, Welcome,
- 0:38Welcome. You're listening to the Sports Shop show. I'm the Sports Shop Wayne
- 0:43Candy. Good morning to you out there and listening. Land Glad to be
- 0:48here with you this morning. It's a little chill in the air getting cool.
- 0:53Uh so uh start pulling out those lightweight jackets and get ready for some
- 1:00fall weather. Bad producers stopped moving around. You had time to do that
- 1:03earlier in the show. You ever those people that get antsy right when things
- 1:07start. We've been here for forty five minutes. Knock that stuff out beforehand.
- 1:14The bad producing the building, Anchie Gregg in the building. Our man
- 1:18Big Kenny was in an auto accident this morning. We're hoping that he is
- 1:23okay. He couldn't make it in showed us the picture. Someone hit him
- 1:29from behind. From what he showed us in the picture said, his neck,
- 1:34his back and his wrists. What's funny? Nothing, I'm listening to
- 1:41you. Were you not just laughing through? No, I'm smiling. Okay,
- 1:45what are you smiling at? Just because of your voice and the sound.
- 1:49I'm just smiling. I'm being serious. I'm smiling. I'm listening.
- 1:53You're smiling at me reading off a person's health issues at the car accident.
- 2:00What are you smiling about? He's fine, now, he's fine. He's
- 2:02mean at the moment. How do you know that he went to the doctor.
- 2:08You've seen him since then? No, I haven't seen him, but
- 2:12I mean just from the text, you know, So that made you smile
- 2:15that, Hey, if he's talking, I see the car, he's up,
- 2:19he's alert. You saw him talking, well the text messages, you
- 2:23saw him walking, so you didn't see any of that. You just I
- 2:29don't know what keep the voor text going, You got the vortext. We'll
- 2:37figure it out. Because it's gonna be one of them kind of shows I
- 2:39can see. I was trying to figure out that me uh, the bad
- 2:43producer and commanding Greg ever done a show just the three of us without Big
- 2:51Kenny. So this should be a very big time experience. Uh. The
- 2:54bad producer is already enlightened me that the National Emergency Service warning that went out
- 3:06yesterday. Him and Commanche said that the world around them felt like it was
- 3:12some kind of way of triggering anthrax or COVID if you heard it. I
- 3:21don't know what movie are y'all watching, like some stuff on Apple TV I
- 3:24missed? Is there some shows where you can you can create COVID through a
- 3:30twob what's going on? Command? You tell me, tell me what's the
- 3:34what's the issue? Sir? It might be like that movie Contagion. Uh.
- 3:40And but with the emergency broadcast alert, that is what would trigger you
- 3:46know, those those reactions because you know, people who got the vaccine and
- 3:52people think they put a chip in the in the vaccine in the needle,
- 3:55which is physically impossible, but some people still believe it. So like,
- 4:00oh, on this day at two pm, that's going to trigger like everyone's
- 4:04going to you know, their head's gonna swell or you know, one hand
- 4:10grows larger than the other. And where do people base these ideas from.
- 4:15That's why when I said earlier when we were before the show, what television
- 4:20show? What book, what magazine, what fantasy? Where there are nanites
- 4:27in the COVID that they gave us some COVID shots to have nan nights that
- 4:31at some point when they choose to, it's gonna make you just do Don't
- 4:38we do destructive stuff already? Do we really need nannites to tell us if
- 4:42we need anything? We need nanites in the COVID shot that make us be
- 4:46better? People don't need us to be any worse? Correct, where's the
- 4:50money in that? But really, evil or you got to have the destructive
- 4:59stuff? God damn money for there? Can't start off with the care And
- 5:02where are all these people with these mad are they like the what's the guy
- 5:06that was on Austin Powers the billion dollars doctor Evil? Yeah, we're We're
- 5:13there some mountain somewhere in the mountains over there, aluminum foil hats and it's
- 5:19cloaked so we can't see it. I'm telling you that they're over there off
- 5:27Memorial Drive, Memorial Parkway in seventy eight, going on in that rock well
- 5:34tonight. Make sure you go by there because it's a great time to go
- 5:38by and see if they over at Stone Mountain because Thursday night football action tonight,
- 5:42the Bears versus the red Skins. Excuse me, oh, excuse me,
- 5:47The Bears versus the Commanders. I keep getting them, call them the
- 5:51Commodore, the Bears versus the Commanders, the Washington Commanders, the Chicago Bears.
- 5:58That game is tonight, Thursday Night football, which is already a sluggish
- 6:02game. Remember from the sports shock I have been speaking on Thursday night games
- 6:10are not something that are going to be enjoyed. Ever, you as a
- 6:18player Thursday, especially if you're anywhere past about year five, you're just getting
- 6:28around to feeling like you can play on Sunday. So imagine trying to do
- 6:33Thursday's practice is you're finally kind of working through the aches of Sunday. So
- 6:42it is just one of those things where you're just gonna get what a person
- 6:46has. Guys that have injuries that they would be able to play if the
- 6:50game was on Sunday. I can't say this enough. Sometimes these next three
- 6:56days is when you could come back. So you have one or two guys
- 6:59out each and every Thursday Night game that if the game was on Sunday,
- 7:04if you're in the concussion protocol on a Sunday game, you won't be able
- 7:10to play by Thursday, because that is when they go around. Thursday afternoon
- 7:15is when they check you. So it's just a lot of sides to that
- 7:19Thursday night game. I'm hoping at some point they phase it out. I
- 7:25know it's a big money maker, but regardless, I mean, these two
- 7:29teams. The Bears haven't won a game, have they? No? Four,
- 7:31They're the only one to four team in the league because Denver beat them.
- 7:38I think else someone else hasn't won a game. Please look that up.
- 7:43But I know last Sunday it was the Battle of the Windless and that
- 7:46was Denver versus Chicago. And then I know Carolina's also Carolina. Okay,
- 7:54so only two teams. There was a battle of the win lists last week.
- 7:58Whoever they lost to? Who the Carolina News to last week? But
- 8:01anyway, the Vikings. Okay, So what now you're looking tonight at O
- 8:07and four Bears, at the two and two Commanders, Yes, two and
- 8:16two Commanders Dursday Night football. Wasn't there a rumbling about? There's there when
- 8:22you mentioned Redskins, and I mean there are people, there's some tribes that
- 8:26have sent some letters to them, and there's been some rumblings about Magic Johnson,
- 8:31who said that they want to try to look at changing the name anyway.
- 8:33So if you do, I'll tell anybody if you call them that you've
- 8:37been around a long time. Don't worry about it. Well, Magic Johnson
- 8:41and the new group said that they may address the name. I don't know
- 8:45that the name Commander. I think it was just something that the pass owner,
- 8:50Danner Schnyder, had to find a name. He was tired of the
- 8:52controversy. He had controversy from other parts of his life dealing with the team
- 9:00that he needed to move on. I remember we were talking and I always
- 9:03said I would have just left it at the Washington football team. To me,
- 9:07it was better than the Commanders. But the new owner, Greg,
- 9:11do you have a name that they might be thinking of moving to. Well,
- 9:16like you said, there was a story that there was a Native American
- 9:20group that once it changed back to the Redskins, and I think they filed
- 9:26a lawsuit. Yes, and there have been I think some other groups,
- 9:31some other Native American groups that are fine with the name. But it's just
- 9:37interesting now that that is louder than before. With the with Daniel Snyder was
- 9:46the owner where it was louder that people wanted the name to change. So
- 9:50it's just interesting that has flipped now that the name has actually changed. And
- 9:54I think some of that with Daniel Snyder was just that when people own something.
- 10:00At his defiance, I seem to fester people wanting to make him change
- 10:07the name when you look at it from you know, like because you're being
- 10:11defiant. Now I'm gonna jump on even worse. If he maybe showed some
- 10:16humbleness, maybe it would have faded away. I laugh all the time at
- 10:20the NBA players, who, as we know, make millions and millions.
- 10:26Some of these guys by the time they finished their careers could easily have at
- 10:31least gross the billion dollars. And then you hear they own something, but
- 10:37they thought that their owners be called governors. But it's like the most hypocritical
- 10:46thing. But you own this, and you own that, and this is
- 10:52across the board, but you didn't want the I couldn't figure out the difference.
- 10:56It makes me laugh each time I read a story that this play owns
- 11:00this, but he didn't want the owner of the Clippers or the Golden State
- 11:05Warriors to say that they owned their team. They wanted them to be called
- 11:09a board of Governors. But we have a big show for you today.
- 11:13As we said, Big Kenny is out today. He was in a car
- 11:18accident, so our prayers go to him. But we're gonna try to make
- 11:20it as funny and in entertaining as we can. Travis Kelce tired of the
- 11:26Taylor Swift conversation. Jay z and Troy Igman. They really look alike.
- 11:33Nil in Utah, you get a truck, You get a truck. Everybody
- 11:39will be getting a truck. And Drew Holliday in Boston. Wow, now
- 11:45you talking about I don't know, Milwaukee. Maybe you created your own worst
- 11:50enemy sending Drew Holliday to Portland, Portland, sending him to Boston. Now
- 11:56he's there with Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum, so makes them a strong,
- 12:01strong team. We'll be back with more to Sports Jock Show right after it.

- 15:13that has taken their game to the next level. Welcome back to the show.
- 15:39I'm the sport Shock Wayne Candy. Good morning to you. Remember Thursday
- 15:43Night Football Chicago versus the Commanders tonight on Prime. If you are interested in
- 15:54high school football, you want to see the future, tune in tomorrow night
- 16:00on GPBC and hear me calling the game between East Kyle Weeda Indians who are
- 16:08seven eight, they're five and one taking on the Carrollton Trojans who are seven
- 16:15a as well, and they are five and one. I say, if
- 16:18you want to see the future. Carrollton has a quarterback named Julian Lewis.
- 16:23They referred to him as Juju. He's only a sound more. He has
- 16:30already committed to go to USC to play with Lincoln Riley out there. I
- 16:37called a game for him last year as the freshman, best freshman quarterback I've
- 16:41ever seen. Possibly he was even in my whole season last year, best
- 16:48quarterback I've seen. But he is the number one prospect for his class coming
- 16:53out in twenty twenty six. But he's already committed the USC witch. Remember
- 17:00when they make these commitments, it is just them and the team's more of
- 17:04a verbal thing, there is no actual And we'll talk about it lately when
- 17:10I talk about N I L and Georgia just ratified that in the state of
- 17:15Georgia that the high school players can profit through NIL. I think they join
- 17:22about about thirty states already have this rule. In Georgia just getting late to
- 17:26the party. But someone like a Juju Lewis definitely will take advantage and we
- 17:33will see how this goes. I talk about the correlation between now declaring early
- 17:38and how the NIL and that could be working for families and young players as
- 17:45well. Travis kelce Taylor Swift, even Travis Kelcey agreed with me as I
- 17:52brought to the air on Monday that the coverage that television is giving their romance
- 18:00or whatever you want to call it, friendship and has been overdone. He
- 18:07needs the NFL to calm down. In his words, they're overdoing it with
- 18:14the coverage. Taylor Swift has made the last two Chiefs games, one of
- 18:18them in Arrowhead. This last game on Sunday was in New York, and
- 18:26the televisions can't get enough of it, to the point that we pointed out
- 18:30that even when Travis Kelsey was not making plays, it seemed like they had
- 18:37dedicated one camera to consistently keep an eye on anything, any movement that Taylor
- 18:45Swift made, any friends, anytime that she had popcorn or hugged someone,
- 18:52they were referred to her regardless of who made the play. And even someone
- 19:00like a Travis Kelsey who seems to love the spotlight, can see how that's
- 19:04just a little too much. And we felt like that here on the show,
- 19:07or at least I did, that it was more of that than it
- 19:12was about the game. So to see him come out and make a statement
- 19:18where he says the NFL needs to calm down because they're overdoing the coverage just
- 19:22supported it. Comanchi's greg was enlightening me bad producer that he even saw where
- 19:30the NFL was trying to justify or defend, Yeah, their position of showing
- 19:41Taylor Swift and Travis all the time, even reporting if they left together or
- 19:47what they left in the car. Greg He was saying that maybe it was
- 19:52along the lines of NFL defending saying what pop culture? It's a pop culture
- 19:57moment. Yeah, they said that refrequently change our bios and profile imagery.
- 20:03This is on their Twitter x account based on what's happening in and around our
- 20:10games as well as culturally. The Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey news has been
- 20:15a pop cultural moment we've leaned into in real time as it's an intersection of
- 20:19sport and entertainment. Can I go to the vortex? No, You're the
- 20:26only vortex. That sound is only for you. So but I'm saying,
- 20:30you know, I want to equate this like this is my analogy, Like
- 20:34for years, I want to Geuitar Center, and when you go in there,
- 20:41it always had to be an actual musician. We had to know how
- 20:45to play what instrument you were talking about if you want to sell. I'm
- 20:48thinking now you're going like places like Guitar Center they just got bodies. They
- 20:52just need bodies. I'm thinking the NFL in their social media department, are
- 20:56they hiring people that like football, that un staying it grew up like I
- 21:00want to be around football, or they're just hiring bodies, because that answer
- 21:07to that question is just like a answer to someone that's just there that's not
- 21:11understanding what the NFL is really in what football is about to me. So
- 21:15I'm lost on that whole Taylor Swift thing as far as that the coverage to
- 21:22the point that I'm I told someone if if Usher would announced that he was
- 21:30doing the Super Bowl about a month ago, man, they would have figured
- 21:33out some kind of way to get tailor into the Super Bowl performance because it's
- 21:37just going that much that they see that everybody's just like oh man, and
- 21:41they can see the capitalism on it at its best, as we always say,
- 21:45at its finest. Well, we discussed that overall, it seems that
- 21:52the bodies of sports have definitely and even when you go to the venues as
- 21:59you some of you may know, I go to I'm an avid Hawk fan.
- 22:03I go down to the Hawk games a lot. I have season tickets
- 22:06down there, and most of it that they bring to you is a lot
- 22:12of show. Is very little about the Hawks. It's more about the show
- 22:22of the game. The music, selection. They're trying to like a La
- 22:27Laker. They always trying to point out who's in the audience, even the
- 22:33halftime most of the games, is some kind of famous person they're trying to
- 22:38do as a halftime show or in their Budweiser or Modello seats or whatever sponsor
- 22:47to the book, Miller like seats. Well, I'm saying it changes.
- 22:51It changes every year from a sponsor, so over the years it's been different
- 22:56people in those seats, to the point that if the Hawks didn't come back
- 23:02out on the floor, you might not know that it was a Hawk game.
- 23:06You might think you were just at some kind of circus. And it's
- 23:10all about the entertainment. So it's the same thing with the producing of the
- 23:14shows. It seems that whoever is directing the show, producing the show and
- 23:19the Shadows are making sure that it centers where we at Greg as the youngest
- 23:26of the cast, but he's old enough. It was more centered around sports.
- 23:32But this is part of that explosion, bad producer, I said with
- 23:34something like a coach Sanders deon Sanders, the networks are milking it to the
- 23:45most. They're giving you. Though you used to have to wait till the
- 23:52game to even know what celebrity was coming to the game. Now they'll give
- 24:00you a report of who's supposed to be at the Colorado game. We've seen
- 24:03before forty eight hours before, don't they do that. Now they'll tell you,
- 24:07at least for the Colorado game, they had a list of who was
- 24:10going to be at the game. Yes, I'd never seen that before,
- 24:12and I hadn't either until this year where they're giving you. It used to
- 24:17be you waited and then half the people you saw you just happened to notice
- 24:22that was in the crowd and they might show you one or two. Now
- 24:26you watch a Colorado game, before the team even runs out, there's somebody
- 24:30down there, a spotter looking for famous faces. And that's what they have
- 24:38created. It's the entertainment, a lot of it, like you're saying,
- 24:41could be the social media aspect. It's all about more entertainment and the game
- 24:48just happened to go along. Well, the coach say, they do it
- 24:51for clicks in life, we do it for winns. So it But Travis
- 24:59Kelsey says the NFL needs to calm down, and that's what I'm saying.
- 25:03It's okay, Travis ketch a ball, Travis Score. Sure you can pan
- 25:08over to Taylor, but when the other tighty end is doing it, that
- 25:12has nothing to do with Travis Kelsey. Hey, when Russell get back right,
- 25:15y'all better be panning the Sierra on every play too. Not really,
- 25:22We'll be back more to Sports Jock Show right O the days don't go Alwayne
- 25:38Board of the Sports John Shill with Wayne Gambidia's coming up next. Attention home

- 26:44talk about something exciting, life insurance. Three quarters of Americans believe that coverage
- 26:48represents a critical piece of financial security, yet only forty nine percent actually have
- 26:53life insurance. When I was twenty five, me and my wife were just
- 26:56getting started with our family and thought we live forever life insurance. Well,
- 27:00what's the last thing on my mind? What about you? Will you be
- 27:03leaving benefits or bills? When I was forty, with a kid in college
- 27:06and bills piling up, I was worried how my family was survived without me.
- 27:08That's when I'm in an appointment with the insurance informant. Information gives you
- 27:12power, and life insurance gives your family security no matter what stage of life
- 27:17you're in. Now that I'm older, I don't worry about whether I leave
- 27:19my family with bills or benefits. The answer is easy, whether you're twenty
- 27:22five or fifty, whether you earn a little or a lot, all you
- 27:26need is the insurance informant to help you build a foundation of security, because
- 27:30without you, your family will have two options, benefits or bills. Which
- 27:34legacy will you leave behind? Log on today benefits or bills dot com.
- 27:40That's benefits or bills dot com. And now back to the sports job.
- 27:48Wayne Gandy in the radzo Y, Yeah, welcome back to this sport shock
- 28:21Shawe. I'm the sport shock wing Candy. Good morning commands you, Greg
- 28:26bad producer in the building. This morning, we were rolling into basically the
- 28:32first weekend of October Baseball Major League Baseball. All four series that are the
- 28:40best of three got swept and we're moving on to already the Braves. We'll
- 28:47be taking on the Phillies here in Atlanta. On Saturday, I was looking
- 28:52at the weather and the one thing I've always said with uh, the October,
- 28:59even though has become the famous month of winning a World Series, I
- 29:04wonder if Baseball really ever considers moving up two or three weeks to maybe let
- 29:12the World Series end in that first week of October before that cold weather comes.
- 29:21Because I was looking in the Braves game by time based on they haven't
- 29:25set the time, but if it's a seven o'clock game, it could be
- 29:30even here in Atlanta around forty five fifty degrees on Saturday, and that's here.
- 29:40And I know a lot of places have indoor places, but we saw
- 29:42a couple of years ago, even with the Yankees, where people were trying
- 29:47to pitch cold. And when you talk about weather with baseball, it's just
- 29:52not something you sprinkled in really as something like football. You know, in
- 29:57football, you're hoping to if you're Buffalo, to get a home playoff game
- 30:03against the Dolphins in January. But in baseball, you really do want to
- 30:10see baseball and temperature friendly for the players and the fans. So I always
- 30:17wondered, do they think about maybe moving up, say two weeks, so
- 30:22most of the playoffs would be more in that warmer climate. It's been great
- 30:26weather here. It's finally gonna get a little cool, and now you got
- 30:30to try to play a baseball game. They got they still have apparently haven't
- 30:33still have a lot of tickets. I was ear hustling some parents. Last
- 30:36night I was as I was umpire, and I've heard them saying, oh,
- 30:40how many tickets should we buy? We should get this for the game.
- 30:41So apparently there's tickets still available if you want to see a playoff game.
- 30:45But you know it's the first round, which Atlanta. We won't get
- 30:48too hype until they get to the finals. Then the tickets will get hard
- 30:52to get and then prices go up. But well, also with the when
- 30:56you talk about as we talked about, this is the time football is king,
- 31:00so to say what football is, what it's king, meaning that at
- 31:07this time of the year, that's where people's focus go. And with Friday
- 31:11night, as I said, with high school being so huge, and that's
- 31:14when most parents are dealing with their children, and then you roll into Saturday,
- 31:18where it's so huge. Your dollar only has so far it can pull.
- 31:26So it would be hard to make the Carrollton East Cowee the game tomorrow.
- 31:32And then if you're a Georgia Bulldog fan or you know, and make
- 31:36their game Saturday and then get back to town to spend another dollar to try
- 31:40to get to the break. It's just a hard time. And with football
- 31:44a lot of time, those things are already ce minute. It's you know,
- 31:48I'm already scheduled to do the Georgia Bulldog game. Believe me, I
- 31:53missed it. I missed a game last week because of a wedding. Yah.
- 32:00Yeah, I was so mad. I was telling everybody. I even
- 32:04told the people at the wedding. You know, I could have been at
- 32:06the Georgia again. Do you think they said the expansion of the of the
- 32:13playoffs like they this was the wild Card round. I think it's the second
- 32:17or third year that they've done that. So now they're trying with trying to
- 32:21expand it and try to keep the same schedule. I mean, that's why
- 32:24things are later. But do you think they would I don't know, like
- 32:30roll it back as far as like, Okay, we're not going to have
- 32:32fourteen playoff teams. We're going to go back to twelve or you have ten
- 32:37or something like that. Do you think they could roll it back that way
- 32:40so the playoffs are shorter or that if they move the schedule back, then
- 32:45they end earlier in October. I really think the easiest thing is just to
- 32:51move the season up two weeks, cut spring training to be like mid March
- 32:55to mid mar What am I trying to start April first? But what about
- 33:00the weather? Rather know it's colder wind. I would rather have colder temperatures
- 33:07at the beginning and have the championship and the World Series and more of climate
- 33:16friendly. I want to see a baseball game or in seventy degrees or I
- 33:22don't want to see my pitcher trying to overcome the forty two degree temperature.
- 33:29It's all I'm saying. So whatever would pull them up well, Even the
- 33:32college teams on the northern half of the United States, they play most of
- 33:37their first few games in March and April in Florida. They schedule down south
- 33:43more than of those games they travel. Then they go back and play most
- 33:45of their home games later on in the season. So it's a possibility that
- 33:49they could schedule most of the games in different regions than because you know,
- 33:53it's colder in Chicago, New York, on that upper end of Ohio.
- 33:58But I really think they should cut some of the games back in my opinion,
- 34:00if you want to get that, I mean, they play one hundred
- 34:04and eighty two games one sixty two, so what give me twenty two games
- 34:09back? Go to one forty I don't need them to cut That's what I'm
- 34:14saying. That's a whole nother revenue to try to get me to tell you
- 34:17to go and lose twenty games or revenue. I would just rather try let's
- 34:24move it up fourteen days and see what we get. And that would be
- 34:29interesting because I've read that the fan attendance went up at least thirty percent over
- 34:37the course of the year. So you want to have that interest when football
- 34:43season starts at least, you know, well, I want to see what
- 34:45the numbers are after the postseason, but you had a lot of fans that
- 34:49are going to the games, so you want to have that interest in the
- 34:52playoffs as well. That if we still and you still get to kind of
- 34:55you still get to keep the kind of idea that the championship is one in
- 35:01October. It would just be that it would be like mid October be playing
- 35:07the World Series. Unstill the Halloween October second year, somebody was finishing up
- 35:14like around the third or fourth election day in that kind of situation. Once
- 35:19again, tragedy on campus. Morgan State University is postponing its homecoming football game
- 35:25this weekend after five people were injured on campus shooting. Two gunmen open fire
- 35:36on the Baltimore campus, hitting four men and a woman who were between the
- 35:43ages of eighteen and twenty two. They were supposed to have a home game
- 35:50against Stony Brook this Saturday, but they've canceled the game. Had to be
- 36:00very hard for them to do that. You know, homecoming, especially for
- 36:06colleges is a big thing, and even bigger for HBCUs. It's like more
- 36:12like a family reunion when you go to HBCU homecoming and nobody checks the weather
- 36:20more than people going tob SeeU HBCU homecoming weekend because they want to make sure
- 36:24the weather's good and they're going to have a good time. So other events,
- 36:30not just homecoming, but the Morgan State volleyball match was canceled, the
- 36:36homecoming parade, different things like that, the PEP rally, all of this
- 36:40due to the shooting, and rightfully so, giving the respect and giving law
- 36:46enforcement the ability to kind of adjust and see make sure nothing else is coming
- 36:52after this. But another tragedy on campus. Guys, I know watching the
- 37:00Virginia player it was Virginia player, right, Yeah, the one that did
- 37:06make it in that first game or second game of the season for them,
- 37:10he finally played. I'm not going to try to remember his name and make
- 37:15a mistake, but I do remember watching him come out to play. He
- 37:17was running back and just to see him go through all that and make it
- 37:22back to the field after their shooting last year, but on campus, Morgan
- 37:27State University homecoming has been postponed. And when I saw these stories last night,
- 37:32that's why I sent you guys. I know y'all was like, where
- 37:35is that coming from. I told my crew, hey, leave the guns
- 37:38and stuff wherever they are, don't bring them, can't use them. And
- 37:45this was centered around As I was doing research for the show, I ran
- 37:49upon this Morgan State shooting. I watched that a parent in Orlando at a
- 37:55youth football game Pop Warner game his gun at the parents next to them because
- 38:04he didn't like that their son was out playing his son. So at some
- 38:14point in that conversation and I kept and what hit me was so he had
- 38:19taken his gun into the stadium because they were sitting in the seats. So
- 38:27that's why I was thinking, you know, and we'll come back and talk
- 38:30about it. Because there was also the eleven year old who got in the
- 38:34car and shot the two thirteen year olds. But more to Sports Shock Show

- 41:14Shock show. I'm in this sport Shock Wing Candy, Good morning to you.
- 41:16Glad to be here on this Thursday. Come on you Greg Bad producer,
- 41:22both in the building with me. Big Kenny, if you're listening,
- 41:25get well soon, sir. Car accident this morning where he was hit from
- 41:32behind, says minor injuries, but you know, at Big Kenny's age fifty
- 41:40six, you never know what those injuries could be. We hope he will
- 41:45be okay. We left talking about Morgan State. They postponed their homecoming because
- 41:51of a shooting on campus. I was talking about an Orlando man who was
- 41:55arrested for allegedly flashing a gun doing his son's youth football game at the arguing
- 42:00with parents in the stands who said their son was better than his. This
- 42:07happened last Saturday down at Leesburg High School in the Orlando, Florida area Pop
- 42:15Warner football game. And also last week the eleven year old who shot two
- 42:22of his teammates. We both were thirteen. That shooting was said to be
- 42:29due over fighting over a bag of potato chips. Where you see the young
- 42:35man, I couldn't tell he ran to it the car was that was the
- 42:40gun at any of you read the story? I know I was trying to
- 42:43look at the video. Maybe yeah, you knew where the gun was in
- 42:46the car and he grabbed a gun. So and that's the thing I know.
- 42:52Bad producer is a gun advocate in his whole thing. Yes, remembered
- 42:57it all that. You're over talking me though, I'm sorry I was.
- 43:00I was trying to give you your do and you speaking. Oh okay,
- 43:02I thought he was asking me what you No, you did not think I
- 43:06asked that because I didn't ask a question. You just wanted to get that
- 43:09in there. As I said, the Bad producer hisself as a gun advocate.
- 43:17But it seems that as much as people want to be four guns,
- 43:22everybody is going for a gun. I like that everybody's in the four gun.
- 43:32So when these gun advocates said, is that, well, the mentality
- 43:37of our society is back to the wild West. Shoot first, shoot second,
- 43:43shoot third. Things that we used to manifest, maybe into some yelling
- 43:51and a fistfight, has now end up with a man sitting in the stands
- 43:54my son better than your son. Keep talking. I'm gonna pull my gun
- 44:00a bag of chips. We're all been eleving. Nobody ran to get the
- 44:05gun. First of all, we didn't know where the gun was, if
- 44:08there was a gun. A lot of us was blind to even the fact
- 44:12that our parents might even have a gun. Is that not that something like
- 44:19we didn't know. You might ask them now or when you found out it
- 44:22was eventually, or you might have stumbled upunned it as a kid just looking
- 44:27around the house. But the idea of having a gun in the house.
- 44:30Parents used to really keep safeguarded, whether it was locked away or they put
- 44:36it in someplace where you would never really think to look in your mom's black
- 44:44pumps box that was in the back well, you know, it was nothing
- 44:49like that. Now, kids, you're walking around with the gun under the
- 44:52seat in your car. Your eleven year old remembers that's where it is,
- 44:54and his first thought is to reenact some episode of Power. That's it.
- 45:05That's the sentiment. I'm gonna reenact what I saw. What was the other
- 45:08show Snowfall? Snowfall? They run the gun, get it, une and
- 45:13shoot. That's not how we handle a bag of chips. Maybe a little
- 45:19fistfight. Maybe if they're both attacking you, maybe try to find a stick
- 45:22or a rock. He was even with a crowd of people. He could
- 45:27have just ran to another group of adults, but he chose to remember where
- 45:30his parents or whoever car that was he got into, grab a gun,
- 45:35shoot his two friends that was on the team that probably at some point was
- 45:39his friend, or at least enough that they played on the same team.
- 45:45So that's why I said, people that are four guns don't see that people.
- 45:47That's what people are going. They run in two guns. They we
- 45:52think gun play is something that is first thought now, not second, not
- 46:00third. And in all these cases is why I triggered last night, like,
- 46:02man, you know what, I never said, Hey, just don't
- 46:06bring it at all. It's because if there's no gun here, COMANCHI,
- 46:10then I don't have to worry about a shooting. You can get it with
- 46:15your yetie cup. If you get mad, you can try to pick up
- 46:22one of these weights, but you won't be able to shoot because there's no
- 46:24gun to shoot kill you. Hear them right, You see how he likes
- 46:31to. That's that vortex where he misses the point trying to like I didn't.
- 46:36That's why I pointed those things out. Those things could hurt, but
- 46:40you got to go get them. They got to carry him. It's more
- 46:43likely that you can survive somebody throwing it yettie cup at you, then a
- 46:50hollow point. Do I have that wrong? Unfortunate? Unfortunately, it's right.
- 46:57It's the mentality is like some people would rather in the situation that way
- 47:06with the gun rather than fight or anything, because they embarrassment of possibly losing
- 47:13that fight or being humiliated is worse. Then it's worse than death. It's
- 47:21a it's a weird mentality that some kids this age have. Yeah, it's
- 47:25unfortunate that the people that these young people that's out here have this mentality that
- 47:31has that not just young people. Well, unfortunately, like I musta stick
- 47:36stay by this, and I'm gonna say it always people kill people, not
- 47:38guns, And it's all about proper training and putting your things together. I
- 47:45have a safe box. We're not talking about you, we're not talking about
- 47:51the bad producer. But if it's one bad producer and it's thirty other people
- 47:57that's doing it the wrong way, then what does it do to have one
- 48:01good, bad producer that knows how to have a gun safely put away in
- 48:06thirty that don't I think that it's more on the number of people more safety,
- 48:09no more than it is the reckless ones. And well I just gave
- 48:13you three stories. I mean I understand that one of them flashing a gun
- 48:17in a stadium, the other one shooting and sore. Where are your where
- 48:22are your advocates? These are over like small, These are small reasons.
- 48:25A bag of potato chips, as my son, is better than your son
- 48:31had a football game. We'll be back with more the Sports Shock Show right
- 48:37after this. Don't Go Awayne Born of the Sports John Show with Wayne Gandia's
- 48:59coming up next. Is it physical or is it mental? Maybe it's both.

- 51:13center Cord on sports News Gossip blah blah blah blah blah. Welcome back to
- 51:52the show. I'm the Sports Shop. Queene cant He, Good morning to
- 51:57you. It seems that Lebron James call for NBA players, some of the
- 52:04bigger name players, some of the older players. Really, when you think
- 52:07about it, some of the older players to step in and consider the Olympics
- 52:14next summer. In the media days since NBA has went back to training camp,
- 52:19you have players like Steph Curry now Kevin Durant, Lebron, those guys
- 52:25leading the way of possibly participating next summer in trying to bring the goal back
- 52:35to the US in the twenty twenty four Olympics that are in Paris. So
- 52:38it seems once Lebron James put up the back signal that he got some of
- 52:45his older and I think the thing with Lebron doing it not just because he
- 52:51has been the focal point of the NBA for the last twenty years, I
- 52:57mean basically his whole career. I think he removed that excuse for Katie and
- 53:04Steph and some of them guys of being thirty four or thirty five. You
- 53:07know, le Bron's going he's thirty nine. So it will be good to
- 53:14see if these guys do participate. But they shouldn't have to when you think
- 53:20about it, to me, they shouldn't have to participate. We have enough
- 53:24talent. I think that, as we talked about when they were playing in
- 53:30the World Cup, that it just seems that there is a segment because there
- 53:36was no Jason Tatum on that team. There was no Jalen Brown on that
- 53:39team. Some of those guys that are in that twenty six to thirty range
- 53:45in the NBA, we're not on that team. So if that just gets
- 53:49those guys interested, we have enough talent not to need the old g Trey
- 53:54Young's and the should have been playing with Anthony Edwards. You guys, that's
- 54:01your You guys are now the actual face of the NBA that's supposedly taking it
- 54:07to the next level as Lebron and Stephan them as they go in their thirties.
- 54:10You and it right there. You are. You are the ones.
- 54:13And it seems like that like Trey and a couple of other guys, they
- 54:17there, it's no big deal to them. It's like we were talking about,
- 54:22it's like no one really cares to play for we were talking about the
- 54:24USA the other day. It's like where's your with the Roder Cup. It's
- 54:29like pay me money or you're taking away from my time or before these guys.
- 54:35Really the contracts they were getting before uh and the people that were participating
- 54:38in the Olympics, there's nowhere compared to what you got now. But you
- 54:43know the big thing now is they say, well, the time and vacation,
- 54:46you don't get to spend that time once the season go down. They
- 54:49have to do all this training and and and that's put a de terrior toward
- 54:54them coming out. Well, how much of that you think, Greg bad
- 54:58producer? Is also that the difference between Saya Lebron and KD. Steph.
- 55:05Those guys they were like that last group of young men who came in the
- 55:08league and had to give homage to the old heads that were already in the
- 55:15league. Since Lebron, they've kind of gotten rid of the whole rookie hazing
- 55:23kind of mentality, to where like a Trey Young doesn't see himself as a
- 55:30youngster. He sees himself I've already arrived. I'm already with those big names.
- 55:38I didn't have to come to the Hawks and be self servient to some
- 55:45ten year vet that taught me that kind of humility. That's in a way
- 55:52that's kind of been legislated out of the league. Having those older veterans where
- 55:55you have a lot, you have a lot of teams where the oldest guy
- 55:59on the team is twenty eight. And that's what and once we talk about
- 56:02it later, that's where the n I ls are gonna go wrong, and
- 56:06that's where we're gonna have problems as it gets younger. Oh, I been
- 56:09making money, so you know, we'll talk about that later. But I'm
- 56:13just saying that that mentality, like you said, Trey, Oh, I'm
- 56:15already famous. I was. You see me in the NCAA tournament. Everybody
- 56:20talked Kobe to daughter and talking about me. So that why is that Dez
- 56:24Bryant for your He stands with me because I just remember how defiant he was
- 56:30about when he was a rookie and how he was not gonna pay for this
- 56:32and he was not gonna remember when he got to the Cowboys. And now
- 56:37he made that big old uh idea And now he's on Survivor. Now he's
- 56:43doing TV show Survivor and stuff. Oh, yes, he's on one of
- 56:47those one of those type of shows. Now now he's got to do that
- 56:50survival less shows that he's on. I got the name. I'm not using
- 56:54his other guys than dead. I just remember him most famously because he was
- 56:59acting like nobody had ever done what he was talking about. And you're hearing
- 57:04those stories, not like I saw a story the other day with Sean Merriman
- 57:07about he was he when he was a rookie went out to the rookie dinner
- 57:10and teammates ran up the bill and he didn't he was not he wasn't expecting
- 57:15it. But it's it's one of those it's seemed to be one of those
- 57:21things that would happen to players, but they don't want to They want to
- 57:24avoid that now because they're only seeing it as them being humiliated or anything like
- 57:31that. I was also want to say humility. Humility is great. I
- 57:36mean even even from a young age to an old age, humility is great.
- 57:42See it that way. But I think because I said, and I
- 57:45listen to funny supports out how they set him up your rookie year and you
- 57:50showed up. They were walking out the door, So I mean I would
- 57:53be like, man, well, and it's a it's a situation where uh,
- 57:58the Michael Jordan's Magic Johnson and the Dream Team set a bar that seemed
- 58:05to resonate that the next generation of stars felt that they had to meet up
- 58:10to, and then the generation after them felt like they had to meet up
- 58:15to. And that's why I'm saying the young twenty eight and down now don't
- 58:22seem like they have to try to live up to because in little particulars of
- 58:28going through those processes or even here's your team from day one kind of mentality.
- 58:35I always say that when I watch football games and you've already made the
- 58:39rookie quarterback the captain of the team, how could that be possible? How
- 58:45could the rookie quarterback have the sea patch? How really could he have it
- 58:50in his first two years? What was showing to be a leader? What
- 58:54would he have done other than And that's the part. Yeah, speech would
- 59:00you get to give me to motivate me? If I'm year ten and year
- 59:04year one, that would have been that you've been through the trials and trip
- 59:07relations. I won a national championship. Yeah, I'm a mother. How
- 59:15about that? You hadn't won nothing? Right now? I'm here. That's
- 59:19why I was drafted second. And we'll be back to Sports Shock Show right

- 1:02:09You may gig so far comes that comes to mind? Is it just I'm
- 1:02:24doing? Yeah, I'm gonna go on the way you made began. Welcome
- 1:02:30back to the show. I'm in the Sports Shock Wayne Candy, Good morning
- 1:02:32today. You hope you are having a great morning. Uh it is Thursday,
- 1:02:38command you Greg Big Kenny is out. I had an accident on his
- 1:02:43way to the studio today and the bad producer is in the building as well.
- 1:02:49Thursday Night Football the Chicago Bears oh and four taking on the two and
- 1:02:53two Washington Commanders Tomorrow. Nighthigh school football a glimpse of the future. Juju
- 1:03:04Lewis Carrollton Trojans taking on the East Colweed Indians. Both teams are five and
- 1:03:12one. Both have a lot of talent. As I talked about with Juju
- 1:03:15Lewis, He's a tenth grader. He's the number one rated tenth grader in
- 1:03:20the country. He throws the ball to the number one rated tight end who's
- 1:03:24on his team. He's headed Alabama, young man named Caleb Odum. You
- 1:03:30get to catch him as well. He's going to Alabama at least today.
- 1:03:36Remember after the chap Travis Hunter stunt. We have to wait until the last
- 1:03:42day now, until the ink is dry, as they say in these situations.
- 1:03:47And that's all from the NIL infusion into college and now into high school
- 1:03:54in most sports. On Wednesday, the Utah Nil deal hit the Utes as
- 1:04:04they call themselves. Utah has decided with their NIL group to gift all eighty
- 1:04:15five scholarship football players a dodge Ram fifteen hundred. All dodge Ram fifteen hundred.
- 1:04:29Now, this is where it's going to consistently. As I said,
- 1:04:32go back when all this started, and I told you the water was just
- 1:04:39barely moving, it's going to get worse. It's going to basically be pay
- 1:04:47to play. That's all it's going to be. By the time I get
- 1:04:58sixty, which is not far off. I imagine that basically college football will
- 1:05:04be some kind of semi pro entity and not be connected to college really in
- 1:05:13any way as far as the educational profile. Think. So, as I
- 1:05:19just stated, I wouldn't have said it if I wasn't stating it that college
- 1:05:26won't be anything. When you talk about the angel Rees's and the Olivia Dunns
- 1:05:30and people like that already saying that they are just going to go online classes,
- 1:05:39you're stepping towards where basically, yes, I play for Georgia Tech.
- 1:05:45I'm not on education. I just got paid to come here. That's where
- 1:05:50we're headed. If I'm angel Reees, I just basically play for the LSU
- 1:05:56Tigers. Whether I graduate, whether whatever, and all that, whether I
- 1:06:02pass class, nobody is even caring or asking that question anymore. What I'm
- 1:06:09majoring in. All that stuff has fell to the wayside. The Utah ups
- 1:06:14out there now they're collective groups, is arranging that. And they're gonna give
- 1:06:21all eighty five scholarship players a Dodge Ram twenty twenty four fifteen hundred truck.
- 1:06:30As I stated Comandi Bad Producer. When this first came out, I can't
- 1:06:35say it enough. The water was barely moving. The big wigs are just
- 1:06:43waiting for places like Utah to make this move. And when I say the
- 1:06:48big wigs, I'm talking about sponsors like Nike Phil Knight, who is an
- 1:06:55Oregon fanatic. What do you think his next deal those kind of deals are
- 1:07:00going to be to come to Oregon. Some of these other places that have
- 1:07:09super boosters, big name company boosters that they're actually heads and CEOs actually go
- 1:07:17even with someone like a Jerry Jones who's in Arkansas, played at Arkansas,
- 1:07:23has always consistently brought arkansaw down as much as he could to play in games
- 1:07:29in his own stadium. If you don't think he's going to try to funnel
- 1:07:34some big, huge deals that will draw people to Arkansas, it's going to
- 1:07:42just le basically be that and That's why I mentioned earlier in the show.
- 1:07:45If you was listening and I was talking about the young man Juju Lewis who
- 1:07:49plays for Carrollton. I'm doing this game for GPB tomorrow night at seven point
- 1:07:54thirty. He has already committed the USC. Now is it coincidence that the
- 1:08:02Carrollton Trojans quarterback is going to the USC Trojans football team. I don't know.
- 1:08:11I didn't I didn't want to ask the coach. Does he already have
- 1:08:14a tattoo? Does he have a Trojan tattoo? But I didn't go there,
- 1:08:18so he's just carry over or the biggest thing because with nil deals now
- 1:08:25basically I can start a bidding war similar to Travis Hunter. Travis Hunter sold
- 1:08:32us that he was going to Jackson State, but basically Dion Sanders, with
- 1:08:36the use of Barstools Sports, was able to give in an unofficial way,
- 1:08:44Travis Hunter a million dollars. That's what they signed him to do. Barstools
- 1:08:51don't don't have a don't have a ellapse in memory, that was what was
- 1:08:57reported. So basically, Florida, if they doesn't have a million dollars to
- 1:09:01give you, I figured out how to get you here to come to Jackson
- 1:09:06State and still make top level nil money. And now Travis Hunter is in
- 1:09:15Colorado. Hope to get him back on the field for the Buffalo soon.
- 1:09:18Exciting player, two way player. I would like when he does come back,
- 1:09:23though, prime one hundred percent defense, about forty percent offense. That
- 1:09:28all cut down on a lot of hits with him. It was it was
- 1:09:32running at about one hundred one hundred. Let's get it to one hundred percent
- 1:09:36cornerback and forty percent receiver. You know, get him where once we crossed
- 1:09:44the fifty you go in it's third offense. It's thirty states. That would
- 1:09:48Georgia be in the last state that just added the nil for high schools?
- 1:09:53Yes, Man, if I was a parent now at this with a child,
- 1:09:57and I was telling him, like, I have two cousins right now
- 1:10:00they're playing D one football. But I remember when this first started, I
- 1:10:03would say, man, if you're it's gonna go crazy to parents level as
- 1:10:09far as I'll go to that local dealership if you were here, Hey,
- 1:10:13I need a car. My son's the star. I need a car to
- 1:10:15get it. We can get to the game to see it. It's gonna
- 1:10:16come to that point. But I'm just looking like states. Like if I
- 1:10:20had a kid that was child that was good, and he was in Alabama,
- 1:10:24the state of South Carolina, I would be moving either North Carolina or
- 1:10:27Georgia. Well, so it's based on where you feel like. Uh,
- 1:10:30the young quarterback for the Beuford team moved, He's going to Georgia. He
- 1:10:35will sow. Him and his family moved from the Arizona West Coast area to
- 1:10:42Beuford, Georgia for his senior year. Danny was Rovot. Wasn't Danny Ravola
- 1:10:47or something like that, but anyway, yes, he did move from California.
- 1:10:51So, and it's just his third high school. A lot of people
- 1:10:54made up and see that's what we're gonna run into sports job. I'm serious,
- 1:10:59this yummy. This is his third high school. So a lot of
- 1:11:01people I said, yeah, he wanted to get acclimated to the Georgia weather.
- 1:11:05He wanted to be here. He's probably gonna go in December. But
- 1:11:09a lot of people looking at it, these kids are gonna be bouncing around
- 1:11:12too, and just like they're getting into portal. Well, it puts his
- 1:11:15family already in the community. His younger brother is also there. He's a
- 1:11:21sophomore. He'll probably take over as the starter next year. But his family,
- 1:11:25as you know, Buford, Georgia and Athens, Georgia is about an
- 1:11:30hour away from each other. ID I would expect even someone like a Juju
- 1:11:35to move to California out of Carrollton if he's going to go to USC for
- 1:11:42the NIL deals he could get by going to Matta whatever. That day,
- 1:11:47it was like one of the St. John Bosco. It's one of the
- 1:11:50top football programs in one country. Why wouldn't I just go ahead and move
- 1:11:56next year for my junior year. Didn't think of it like that. To
- 1:11:59where I'm going I can get my NIL deals up, especially in states that
- 1:12:02allow you to move in and go wherever you want to go. Some states
- 1:12:09don't have that freedom as of yet to Georgia, where you can go without
- 1:12:15moving in different politics. Some have free will that I can choose year to
- 1:12:19year what high school I want to go to. And that's what took me
- 1:12:23back when I was saying education, the g PA, what I graduated in,
- 1:12:28what I'm going to college for. For the athlete, that's not it's
- 1:12:32what is your ni L deal and your GPA is whatever it is, it
- 1:12:42doesn't matter anymore because all I know is you got three million dollar nil deal
- 1:12:47and you're eligible to be on the team. What where what you're studying?
- 1:12:54I don't really care about Commandie. It's getting that way. Ads need to
- 1:13:00up the pay up for the referees and officials. Also. All this money
- 1:13:03going around, so we got to get our pay up too. If you
- 1:13:05want us to call themies hire these athletes with these deals. Now you want
- 1:13:10our game? Well you say that now until they tell you got to be
- 1:13:13in some real shape. Oh hey, look right now, right now with
- 1:13:17the lax rules, they let you referee out of shape. We'll be back
- 1:13:24with the Sports Shops Show right after this. Don't go a Wayne board of

- 1:14:47exciting. Life insurance. Three quarters of Americans believe that coverage represents a critical
- 1:14:53piece of financial security, yet only forty nine percent actually have life insurance.
- 1:14:57When I was twenty five, me and my wife are just getting started with
- 1:15:00our family and thought we live forever life insurance. What's the last thing on
- 1:15:02my mind? What about you? Will you be leaving benefits or bills?
- 1:15:06When I was forty with a kid in college and bills piling up. I
- 1:15:10was worried how my family will survive without me. That's what I'm in an
- 1:15:13appointment with the insurance informant. Information gives you power and life insurance gives your
- 1:15:16family security no matter what stage of life you're in. Now that I'm older,
- 1:15:20I don't worry about whether I leave my family with bills or benefits.
- 1:15:24The answer is easy, whether you're twenty five or fifty, whether you earn
- 1:15:27a little or a lot, all you need is the insurance informant to help
- 1:15:30you build a foundation of security, because without you, your family will have

- 1:16:04the sports. John Wayne Yandy, Goat, go Goat, Goat, Goat
- 1:16:14show. This Shuverarday, We're gonna pull It's Shuverday. We're gonna siplet like
- 1:16:19it's Shuverday and you know we don't give up because that's your birthday. Welcome
- 1:16:26back to the Sports Shock Show. We've reached the birthday segment of today going
- 1:16:31into the weekend as well. The Hall of Famer Charles Woodson forty seven,
- 1:16:35the Great Priest Holmes can't speaking of a great Kansas City chief Players is fifty
- 1:16:41years old. Joy peihar from the view And now I know why Joy has
- 1:16:47those kind of coming. She's from the old school. She's eighty one years
- 1:16:50old. So now I can really just kind of release ninety percent of what
- 1:16:55she's saying. She's from a different No, no, no, no,
- 1:16:58no, not not as though I'm wrong or right, but I'm saying she's
- 1:17:00from a different generation of speaking your mind. You start talking about eighty one
- 1:17:05year old. Basically our parents they were cut from a different cloth. They
- 1:17:11would not buy bottled water. We're talking about that generation. You couldn't sell
- 1:17:15them. Paper towels, rolling paper towels growing up for us, last one
- 1:17:20roll last a whole month because you did things. You dry things with rags,
- 1:17:27you used picked up spills. You didn't use paper towels like that.
- 1:17:30You use cloth. Things that you could resh and use and things like that.
- 1:17:33So when you're from that different mindset, that generation, it is a
- 1:17:38little stiffer, a little more rigid. And now with Costco buying thirty packs
- 1:17:42of paper towels and got them ready to go, right, just a different
- 1:17:45mindset. But she's eighty one years old, Mookie Bets who at one point
- 1:17:49people was talking about MVP for about five minutes about, Yeah, there's a
- 1:17:56boy named a Coon Do thirty one years old. Is Mookie bet Tony Braxton
- 1:18:01is fifty six. Vladimir Putin seventy one, someone who threw me off a
- 1:18:06little bit. I had to actually google because I was thinking he's always seemed
- 1:18:11such like an older man relative to me, and only find out he's twenty
- 1:18:15four months older. Simon Colwell, the producer, the American American Idol guy,
- 1:18:23Simon four. Man, he older than that. He gotta be.
- 1:18:27They said, fifty four years old. Man, I know, Randy,
- 1:18:30he was like sixty five years ago. Started well, maybe he and Paul
- 1:18:36Abdoul was enough. She and her sixty So you know, well, y'all
- 1:18:42are welcome to google it. Sammy was fifty four years old this weekend.
- 1:18:45Man that's he, that's I just said. It had me sitting there like,
- 1:18:48am I looking at this right? What was you saying about birth certificates
- 1:18:51last week? Because he was born in England and it's probably a ten year
- 1:18:57later. Tony Dundree sixty eight, Falcons tight end receiver, Kyle Pitts twenty
- 1:19:03three. Trevor Lawrence, the quarterback for the Jags, is twenty four.
- 1:19:09Hall of Famer, Richard Seymour forty four. Barry Switzer, the Oklahoma and
- 1:19:15Sooners coach and Cowboys coach as well, is eighty six. Mario Lemieux,
- 1:19:21the great Pittsburgh Penguin fifty eight, Grant Hill, the Hall of Famer is
- 1:19:26fifty one. Jesse Palmer, you always see him on college football scoreboard.
- 1:19:31He's forty five. Jess Jesse Eisenberg, the actor is forty. Who else
- 1:19:38do we have here? Kate Winslett. Winslet is forty eight clock as Katy
- 1:19:44would say. And Travis Kelsey, as we started to show off talking about
- 1:19:48him, is thirty four years old. Simon Cayle, Okay, this says
- 1:19:56he's sixty four. So maybe I saw it wrong. I could have one
- 1:20:00of the thing I said said fifty four, but he's sixty four. Now
- 1:20:03that sounds about right, Greg. That's why I said, look it up.
- 1:20:05Now I can breathe because I because you had going off. That's why
- 1:20:11he had me worried. Man, did I not start the segment like,
- 1:20:14did I get it wrong? I say, I need to go get my
- 1:20:16bus certificate out of England and go back ten years. Okay, I'm glad
- 1:20:23you. I love to be corrected. I don't like to walk around wrong.
- 1:20:27I was sitting there thinking, Man, I'm gonna age bad in the
- 1:20:30next twenty four months because Simon, it looked like I need to be calling
- 1:20:34him uncle Simon. Yeah, buddy, just was just with through. He
- 1:20:39looked like the American ile started twenty years ago. He looked fifty four then,
- 1:20:44so he might be that's what that's I'm with, Greg, because I'm
- 1:20:47like, when you said fifty fifty four, I'm like he was fifty four
- 1:20:51when they started with Fantasia. On the NFL Legend Hall of Famer, Troy
- 1:20:58Aikman of the Dallas Cowboys has finally addressed his look alike. People have been
- 1:21:03going online referring to Troy Aikman as the White jay Z which I think may
- 1:21:12be somewhat racist, but that's what he says. He says that people be'sly
- 1:21:18with the AI. I guess they send him pictures where they kind of put
- 1:21:23the two faces together. They can messh it or a couple of those.
- 1:21:27There's a screen shot in which that the one that's the most commonly used.
- 1:21:30It was him doing a game and they just put it right next to jay
- 1:21:34Z. And and when you saw that, would you say that Troy Aikman
- 1:21:41looks like jay Z or jay Z. Well, Troy's older than jay Z.
- 1:21:47Yeah, he's older, maybe about two three years because jay Z's only
- 1:21:51maybe about fifty four, right, I think maybe he's like two three years
- 1:21:55older than Yeah, he's like fifty four fifty five. It's it's close,
- 1:22:00but the screens I was like it was someone taking a picture of their TV,
- 1:22:03so it could be a little distorted, but it's close enough to where
- 1:22:08like you would think I was even to the point that's folk they got.
- 1:22:12Man. These people are photo shopping and adding the eyes because that joy trying
- 1:22:17to make it look jay Z. You're finding the picture where they're making the
- 1:22:20almost exact face and then making it scene. But they're saying that he is
- 1:22:26the white jay Z. I know on the show before we have said that
- 1:22:31who we look like like? Have you ever seen someone or someone ever told
- 1:22:38you you look like someone famous? I was. I used to be told
- 1:22:43all the time, and I used to thought it was funny. And when
- 1:22:45I would be with the especially when I'll be around Jesse, we'll be playing.
- 1:22:48Everybody thought I looked like Jamal Anderson. They'd be like, because I
- 1:22:51had one lady, I was with this Jamal Anderson, Jamal and running back.
- 1:22:57Okay, that's what we have, a couple of dirty sorry, he
- 1:23:00said, you know, that's like a lot of the dirty bird Jamal.
- 1:23:05At the time, I was skinny then, and there you saying one lady
- 1:23:09one. I said, quit acting like you don't. You don't want to
- 1:23:12talk to us, and we your biggest friend, And I said, what
- 1:23:14is this lady talking about? Okay, we'll come back from break command you.
- 1:23:17I'll give you a little minute here to think about someone you think you
- 1:23:19look like, or somebody that you think has always been told by someone that
- 1:23:26you look like as well. We'll be back with more of the show right

- 1:26:05players lounge on The Sports Jack Show with Wayne Gandy. Welcome back to the
- 1:26:39show. I'm the sports Shock Wayne kN t command you Greg, bad producer
- 1:26:44in the building with me to a day. We were talking as we went
- 1:26:47to break that a lot of people making the parody that NFL legend Troickman looks
- 1:26:56like what they are referring to us, the White jay Z and the bad
- 1:27:00Producer command she Greg both and myself. We're trying to figure out people.
- 1:27:05The bad Producer says, people has referenced him to looking like Jamal Dirty Bird
- 1:27:13Anderson of the Falcons from back in the day. Do who do you think
- 1:27:17you look like? Me? Bad Producer? Has there ever been somebody you
- 1:27:21saw that you looked like? Man? I will be probably scared if I
- 1:27:27see somebody look like me. I mean, I didn't know if some famous
- 1:27:31person you saw and then they reminded you. You thought, okay, I
- 1:27:34see myself or but you said? Jamal answered comand you Greg? What about
- 1:27:40you? I get actor named Cedric Yarborough. If you've ever watched Reno nine
- 1:27:46one one, yeah, played Deputy Jones no, what is it called Reno
- 1:27:55Reno. It's like a parody of Cops. It's funny. Do you do
- 1:28:01you think you look like Cedric Yarborough a little bit? Or for those who
- 1:28:06haven't seen that, if you have, you've seen Black Dynamite, Yeah,
- 1:28:12yeah, no, I can't say that I have. Okay, well,
- 1:28:16yeah, a lot of movies, a lot of TV dynam Was that at
- 1:28:26the theaters? Yeah? That made for a short time is at the theater?
- 1:28:30It's an independent movie, but it was like a it's like a parody
- 1:28:33of black exploitation movies with Michael J. White. Okay, I know Michael
- 1:28:39J. White. Yeah, so he he wrote and directed it, and
- 1:28:42it's a parody of all those kinds of movies. And Cedric is in that,
- 1:28:45yes, okay, okay, I have to check those out to see
- 1:28:49if I'm oh, that's coming to you Greg doing an extra But he's probably
- 1:28:53more known for Reno nine one one stuff? And as a TV show?
- 1:28:57Is that a movie? That's a TV show? They've made a couple of
- 1:28:59movies, but it was primarily a TV show. Okay, and myself,
- 1:29:02people have always referred to and I could see okay, Okay, I've seen
- 1:29:10that guy in a couple of different roles, Cedric y'all bro but I'll still
- 1:29:13look at the renal nine funny. It's hilarious. It's funny, hilarious.
- 1:29:19I was always said that I look like Grandmama Larry Johnson, the basketball player
- 1:29:27the gold without the gold tooth in his mouth. And even when I met
- 1:29:30Larry, we both chuckled over that maybe we got a distant cousin relationship going
- 1:29:39on. Uh And I think I don't know if it was just kind of
- 1:29:42the build as well, because Larry is Johnson built like he played defensive end.
- 1:29:50I mean both y'all went six seven. I was six five, he
- 1:29:54might be six six. I don't know that he was six seven like an
- 1:29:57in seven for the whole this for a while, I thought, but that,
- 1:30:01I mean, I guess, hey just put the gold to in the
- 1:30:08way. We know the difference by the by the haircut. He had the
- 1:30:11park in the middle in the middle on the side. Because it's different and
- 1:30:15the boys from Texas not different from the floods, They're gonna move a little
- 1:30:20faster. On this past Sunday, our man Deshaun watching the quarterback of the
- 1:30:27Cleveland Cavaliers. Stories and reports are coming out that Dashawan decided just not to
- 1:30:31play, even going as far as says he knows his body, but he
- 1:30:36was medically cleared. And we talked about the Sean on Monday when we were
- 1:30:43talking about that game, and I said that Shawn was standing over there had
- 1:30:47this look like a nothing's really wrong, like he wasn't standing over there like,
- 1:30:54and me and Greg talked about I missed the whole injury. Like you
- 1:31:00said, he was standing over I don't remember. And I saw some of
- 1:31:02the game the week before and I was like, I don't remember Deshaun Watson
- 1:31:06getting hurt. Medically they from the report I read, he was cleared.
- 1:31:13He decided that they didn't know him like he knows him. And now I
- 1:31:16know I want to play. So yes, the great Nick Chubb is out.
- 1:31:23They sent the little young Thompson Robinson and that's his last thing. I
- 1:31:27don't know his first name. He's a rookie in Doge Thompson Robinson and he's
- 1:31:31a rookie. But Deshaun watching. And the thing with that is my question
- 1:31:38would be with DeShawn, like if they medically cleared you and you still I
- 1:31:42wonder why you didn't at least suit up to be the second quarterback. Yeah,
- 1:31:48to be like you know, I don't know. It just seems very
- 1:31:53let your team down for a team that has come and tried to weather the
- 1:31:57storm with you in a lot of different diferent ways. Not just guarantee,
- 1:32:01not beyond the money I'm saying, to be able to decide we're going to
- 1:32:04go through this ridicule with you. Also seemed like it would at least got
- 1:32:10you to suit up. And I don't know if he warmed up to even
- 1:32:15see whether he could go or not, but Deshaun Watson did not. There's
- 1:32:19no footage or anything about him warming up or anything that just basically said that
- 1:32:24he was cleared. Now, through your fifteen years, have you ever somebody
- 1:32:29that was on the list was not injured, no known injury, just said
- 1:32:33hey, I'm not playing today. I've had some guys that, throughout my
- 1:32:38career I knew were the kind of players that can only play healthy. Some
- 1:32:50guys do not know how to play and manage an injury, and I,
- 1:33:01particularly if I was a GM, it's one of those things. And I'm
- 1:33:05just using I don't know, Reggie Bush so I can't. And I'm not
- 1:33:12criticizing Reggie Bush, but Reggie Bush from outside. Look, I'm just giving
- 1:33:15a name because some of the guys I would mention people wouldn't know. I'm
- 1:33:18just using the name of someone of note. Reggie Bush seemed like he was
- 1:33:24always one of those players that whatever was nagging him distracted him so he couldn't
- 1:33:33really focus. And it's a thing to play with. Injury. It's something
- 1:33:36that you have to navigate. I played with a lot people. Oh man,
- 1:33:42you never missed a game. That don't mean I wasn't hurt. It
- 1:33:45don't mean it's something underneath these paths is not wrapped up and sewed up and
- 1:33:49shot up. But some people, and that's that old adage. If you
- 1:33:54ever played sports and the coach comes over there, are you hurt? Are
- 1:33:58you injured? Because those are two different things. If you hurt, we
- 1:34:02got to get y'all. If you you know, if you just injured,
- 1:34:05those two different things. Injury means we need to call the cart out and
- 1:34:10get you off the field. Hurt means that we need to go over here,
- 1:34:13slap you around a little bit, and get back in the game.
- 1:34:15So but with the Shun I didn't see in the previous game. And then
- 1:34:21that's what I was wondering that even he didn't look like he had even warmed
- 1:34:26up. He looked like he had got out of his Bugatti, which I
- 1:34:30don't know why he got a Bougatti in Cleveland with them terrible roads and ladies
- 1:34:39and gentlemen. We're just making that up. I don't know the man got
- 1:34:42a Bugatti. He make enough money to have one, but I'm just messing
- 1:34:45around with him. But he looked like he had just got out of his
- 1:34:49car, went to the locker room, changed into the Cleveland brown warm up
- 1:34:54sideline stuff, and went out onto the field. And that might just be
- 1:35:00because I played, and I know what that look looks like different than I
- 1:35:03got here early for some practice team. Look, they said he threw on
- 1:35:10the field before the game, and then well this is the article before that
- 1:35:15said the decision was made to make him inactive, but apparently he was.
- 1:35:21My clear, My whole thing is with this with Deshun in this situation here,
- 1:35:27Like you say, it's just tough that like where where's your teammates gonna
- 1:35:32be like, dude, you wasn't injured now you're gonna say it's like little
- 1:35:35boy crying wolf when you really injured, We're gonna be suspect. Now we're
- 1:35:41really gonna be like, are you as we were saying with the basketball guys,
- 1:35:45does this generation really do that? Because it seems that the idea of
- 1:35:50being cal Ripkin Jr. To this generation is so far fetched about showing up
- 1:35:58when for the bell to ring that that's not And I don't know, a
- 1:36:02lot of guys are making business decisions. A lot of guys are rather miss
- 1:36:09a game or two thinking they could come back. So I don't know that
- 1:36:13this generation of the new athlete even is under the pressure of necessarily especially the
- 1:36:21way they are even being trained, like you know, so much practice and
- 1:36:26so much they with the padded cap on top of the helmet kind of thing
- 1:36:33at practice, Like so you're gonna put on a helmet and you're also gonna
- 1:36:38put some padding around it out of practice that you can't really hit at.
- 1:36:42Like, I don't get what all that is about, but that's kind of
- 1:36:45how they have been trained. One note to the Stellers. They're saying that
- 1:36:49Kenny Pickett, the quarterback possibly will be able to go on Sunday Stealers,
- 1:36:56Mike Tumblin. Look part of that part where you say you need some changes.
- 1:37:00Kenny Pickett wasn't getting the job done. I think before you put him
- 1:37:04Mic out there, I think I would just take a look at Mitch Trubisky,
- 1:37:10see if Mitch really just a backup or maybe he has something to deal
- 1:37:14up. But I don't. I think this makes it easy for the stiller
- 1:37:16to sit Kenny Pickett if he is even halfway banged up, because he wasn't
- 1:37:25getting the job done anyway, here's a chance. Hey, Mitch, if
- 1:37:29you're ever gonna be all starter, you got better start acting like Baker Mayfield
- 1:37:33out here, Baker Mayfield down in Tampa, showing that he has a little
- 1:37:38starter in him, a little, little, little, last little bit.
- 1:37:41It ain't like the greatest thing on work, but he's not back to the
- 1:37:44backup role right now. So what do you have before we go? No,
- 1:37:47I was just gonna tell the people from cal Edwin Ripkins junior baseball player
- 1:37:53two thousand, six hundred and thirty two straight baseball games without missing a game.
- 1:37:59And we're talking about one hundred six two game seasons. That's a lot.

- 1:40:30between a lock on, say you can see a sports jaint, I'll say,
- 1:40:45even Canny, welcome back to the Sport Shock Show. I'm in the
- 1:40:49Sports Shock Wayne Candy, Good morning to you. The w n B a
- 1:40:55UH is set for their finals, the New York Liberty and the Las Vegas
- 1:41:00Aces. I want to say they kick off Sunday, as I have been
- 1:41:02saying with the WNBA, they have a strange. I guess they have settled
- 1:41:09in on the mindset that their fan is their fan, because to do anything
- 1:41:15on Sunday, start or finish seems a little out of pocket as far as
- 1:41:23competing with the Shield. NFL. They wrapped up both of their conference finals,
- 1:41:29maybe like Sunday or Monday, so you would think they might start,
- 1:41:34like, yes, last night, all right, I mean, excuse me
- 1:41:36tonight or Friday to get a couple of days in before an NFL Sunday.
- 1:41:44So but they might be under the idea that they feel like their crowd is.
- 1:41:50But I know in viewership I would watch, but I won't see it
- 1:41:55on a Sunday. But if you told me they started the night, it
- 1:41:58would catch my eye over the Chicago Bear Washington Commander game. And I'm okay
- 1:42:04honestly saying that it would really catch my But they are set to announce an
- 1:42:10expansion team, one of the first expansion teams in about fifteen sixteen years.
- 1:42:15They are going to put a team out in the San Francisco Bay area.
- 1:42:19I guess that hot bed of what Golden State Warriors has done is going to
- 1:42:25infuse with the WNBA. So we will see how that go the NCAA to
- 1:42:32advocate for stricter sports gambling regulations. They're trying to protect the athletes. That's
- 1:42:40the thing with the NIL that's the thing with all these leagues. As we've
- 1:42:44seen with college and pro players being indicted and suspended for gambling on teams and
- 1:42:59their sport. Couple of uh and incidents have been where they actually bet on
- 1:43:04the team that they are playing for. So n C double A is advocating
- 1:43:10to try to curtail that and protect the athletes from And I don't know how
- 1:43:15they're gonna do it. I didn't it didn't read to say really how they're
- 1:43:18going to implement it. But it's a good thing because you know, gambling
- 1:43:26is hard on a lot of people, and you get into it and next
- 1:43:30thing you know, people fall on hard times or you know, it's like
- 1:43:32we just said, Utah giving out trucks. So if I'm at Utah State,
- 1:43:38they ain't giving out trucks, maybe I would bet against my team.
- 1:43:42I'm gonna get me a dodge ram too. I'm just gonna get it from
- 1:43:45throwing this game today. So it sounds far fest, but it's just that
- 1:43:51easy. Well to the to the pro athletes and the college athletes. Stay
- 1:43:55off your phones for one thing. That's how you're getting caught up with placing
- 1:43:59your bets on these You can't stay off your phone and you're on the half
- 1:44:01talking about on the betting sites. Call. You can't stay off your phone
- 1:44:04at fifty four. So how is a nineteen year old I'm telling you had
- 1:44:10one in the crib. They don't. You don't see me on the betting
- 1:44:12sites on my phone. You was thirty five before you had a cell phone.
- 1:44:15Listen, you don't see me on the bedting site. You do not
- 1:44:19see me on the betting sites with my phone. I'm gonna call my bookie
- 1:44:24or I'm gonna go to the casino. It's so it's so easy to like
- 1:44:28access, but that's how you're getting caught up. They need that easy access.
- 1:44:31But bad producer. They're not getting caught up because of easy access.
- 1:44:34They're getting caught up because from the day they was pushed here. If you're
- 1:44:39twenty, you've been pushed into a society that advocates gambling. I'm saying that's
- 1:44:46not if they want to gamble, but do it where you won't be That's
- 1:44:49not how they have been that's not how the gambling Come on TV. I'm
- 1:44:56old school. You don't let everybody, That is my point. You're not
- 1:45:00just saying old school, you don't let nobody. This is n C double
- 1:45:02A. That mean the people they're trying to protect barely twenty two now at
- 1:45:08most, their whole life has been fed gamble gamble. Gamble gamble is not
- 1:45:14being seen as a sin to them. It's not have been sold in by
- 1:45:17fire and brimstone from the pool pit. That's how it was sold to us.
- 1:45:23To them, it's been how many lot of tricky mommy and daddy sending
- 1:45:27you in there for some scratch offs. Hey, go get me this boy,
- 1:45:30give me five and the fourteen and the seven and get yourself a lot.
- 1:45:34Can't bomb now unless you eighteen. Gotta show your ID now us two
- 1:45:38week when we were you talking about you can't go by You can't and not
- 1:45:41even in this what are you talking about? You can't even if I if
- 1:45:45I go to Bad Producer, Illinois, town of twelve hundred, that store
- 1:45:51shop own or let anybody come in there, you ain't checking no ID.
- 1:45:55That's that's willing little boy Willy send him down here for some tickets as this
- 1:46:00dude is talking about. That's how that's Willie boy, you know Willie sin
- 1:46:05Little Willie ever wins put him take pack of cigarettes? Du I bet he
- 1:46:12do? And bad producer Illinois. Somebody going to jail. No, it
- 1:46:16must be unincorporated. They know who it's not, the little kid buying the
- 1:46:21cigarettes. I thought you said you was from a small town. But you
- 1:46:28say they will do not play that. You better say. Okay, okay,
- 1:46:31I'm telling you how it working in real America. In those little towns
- 1:46:38you ride through and it's say population eighteen hundred and twenty towns are unincorporated.
- 1:46:43Them unincorporated places. They ain't living by no law that you're talking about.
- 1:46:46You're driving when you're fourteen. I know I'm stayed in on incorporated. The
- 1:46:51little spot we got now is in an unincorporated But what I'm telling you that
- 1:47:00sound good? It sounds good. The end of Cuba also is banning recruits
- 1:47:11that come on non official visits from photo shoots at their school. Now the
- 1:47:16parents when they come on unofficial visits can take pictures. The kids can take
- 1:47:20them themselves, but the school doing photo shoots with nine on nine official recruiting
- 1:47:29trips have been shut down, and I'm quite sure they have a great reason
- 1:47:33why. And it's a difference between a none official and official. If you're
- 1:47:38on your official recruiting trip, you they give you a little photo shoot where
- 1:47:43they and this is always where they make you look like you've been there.
- 1:47:45Sometimes they put you in the gear, take you to the stadium, take
- 1:47:49your whole bunch of pictures so you can start getting that feeling that you are
- 1:47:54at this school. But when you go down in a non official way,
- 1:47:57they have canceled those photo shoots. And we'll be back. What a sports
- 1:48:00shock show right after this, Don't Go Away, or of the Sports Jock
- 1:48:09Show with Wayne Dambidius coming up next. And now let's talk about something exciting,
- 1:48:14life insurance. Three quarters of Americans believe that coverage represents a critical piece
- 1:48:17of financial security, yet only forty nine percent actually have life insurance. When
- 1:48:23I was twenty five, me and my wife were just getting started with our
- 1:48:26family and thought we lived forever life insurance. What's the last thing on my
- 1:48:29mind? What about you? Will you be leaving benefits or bills? When
- 1:48:32I was forty with a kid in college and bills piling up. I was
- 1:48:34worried how my family will survive without me. That's when I'm in an appointment
- 1:48:38with the insurance informant. Information gives you power and life. Insurance gives your
- 1:48:42family security no matter what stage of life you're in. Now that I'm older,
- 1:48:45I don't worry about whether I leave my family with bills or benefits.

- 1:50:16now back to the Sports John Wayne Gandy. Now it's time for the school
- 1:50:24board when we put a spin on light and sports and how they intermingle on
- 1:50:30the Sports Jack Show with Wayne Gandy. Some laces clicking, Welcome back to
- 1:51:10this What Shock Show. I'm this what Shock, Wayne Candy. The World
- 1:51:14Cup twenty thirty to be played on three continents. That's three continents and in
- 1:51:21six countries, the three continents of South America, Europe and Africa. Not
- 1:51:27its twenty thirty, so we're talking about seven years away. Three continents and
- 1:51:31six countries should be exciting. How they lap all that together. It's a
- 1:51:38big international sport and if it's successful, I'm quite sure you will continue to
- 1:51:44see this go on as a trend. I still got to salute Utah the
- 1:51:50utes if you missed it. Their nil correalition is powering together to give all
- 1:51:59eighty five scholars ship players a RAM fifteen hundred. So moms and dads,
- 1:52:06especially on that West coast area, if your kids come into house today with
- 1:52:13the Utah shirt on, you'll know why they want that RAM. Now I
- 1:52:16got to figure out is it only only your vehicle while you're there? Yeah?
- 1:52:24Or do you get to leave with it? Because it could be set
- 1:52:27up like the coaches a lot of you don't know, and a lot of
- 1:52:30the major colleges, the head coach, the official position. Coaches a lot
- 1:52:40of times get vehicles to drive from the dealerships. But and those are the
- 1:52:45ones that they try to sell you a year later, two years later,
- 1:52:48after the lease that the company has let the Kirby Smart when fleet they got
- 1:52:55fleet management fleets is what they do, what they set them up. So
- 1:52:58Kirby Smart, as long as he is the coach at Georgia, whatever deal
- 1:53:03him, and typically for the head coach, they will give him and his
- 1:53:08wife a vehicle to drive and they let them drive it for so many miles
- 1:53:14and then they go get the new one. But it'd be interesting you have
- 1:53:17the information either they get to keep the car, or do they only when
- 1:53:20they're while they're there? Only while they're the least is in when a player's
- 1:53:25eligibility expires or they choose to transfer. Okay, but the collective also covers
- 1:53:31the insurance on it. But it sounded like a Sugar Night record deal,
- 1:53:34like long as you you signed to death row, we put everything in our
- 1:53:39name is out you leave. Well, they're gonna have to build a bigger
- 1:53:41parking lot if everybody driving, because typically in college, like maybe of the
- 1:53:46players have a vehicle. Yeah, in college is when I you know,
- 1:53:53and if they live on campus. In old school, the fresh the freshman
- 1:53:56a lot of times it wouldn't even be allowed at some schools to so they're
- 1:54:00gonna have to have they gonna have a full because I'm giving eighty five players,
- 1:54:03so everybody's needed parking space. Yeah, what about that rule? Because
- 1:54:08I know a lot of young guy, young guys that went to school for
- 1:54:12they wouldn't allow to take this car the first year, So that stuff they've
- 1:54:15gotten rid of. Got rid of that, okay, because you even have
- 1:54:18like remember the old rule where you couldn't even bring your pet. Now they
- 1:54:21let you some schools let you take your pet to school. They used to
- 1:54:25not let allow that either. My school they had it where it wasn't a
- 1:54:29rule that freshmen couldn't have cars, but it was more discouraged. But there's
- 1:54:33been so much parking added, and it's probably got these other places where there's
- 1:54:38more, so much more parking that that that doesn't matter. Well, go
- 1:54:42ahead, I was gonna move on to JUNI. I was just gonna say
- 1:54:45that the reason why possibly because they want you to be get acclimated and stay
- 1:54:48on campus from ripping and running and there and your parents really worrying about you.
- 1:54:53But yeah, that's all. NBA TV. Today, Dallas Mavericks will
- 1:54:57be playing Minnesota Templewolves in a preseason game. So preseason kicks off today for
- 1:55:02Dallas and Minnesota. I was thinking of Drew Holiday. Drew Holliday was a
- 1:55:09couple of days ago, was of Milwaukee Buck with Jannis and Chris Middleton.
- 1:55:14They traded him to Portland and basically swapped and brought Damon Lillard in. Even
- 1:55:20when Portland traded for them, they said that they were not officially they were
- 1:55:27not bringing him in the play Drew Holiday, so they traded him to Boston.
- 1:55:30I looked at that trade, and I say this with Boston because you
- 1:55:36thought some of what would be lacking was that Marcus Smart in the off season,
- 1:55:45Boston got Marcus Smart out of there their star point guard. Now to
- 1:55:49replace him with a Drew Holliday, it puts Boston right back in the mix
- 1:55:56as far as contenders, and through Holliday mixed in with Jason Tatum and Jalen
- 1:56:02Brown, you still have a Howford, you still have the White kid.
- 1:56:08I think he's Derek White there. So giving them Drew Holiday and who's a
- 1:56:14defensive minded, still thirty three leader, big shot hitter, two way player,
- 1:56:19puts them back in the mix as well. So Boston as a Lakers
- 1:56:25right where they started. You know how we feel about Boston. I'm just
- 1:56:30saying they're going to be on this show. Since we were just a neutral
- 1:56:33party and we just talked general, we talk about how what the Lakers and
- 1:56:40True Holiday have going it means nothing. And I don't even know that the
- 1:56:45Laker Celtic thing. Even the Celtics team to have more beef with Memphis or
- 1:56:53other teams last year than they did with the Lakers. They just played a
- 1:56:56Lakers the Nuggets. You ever noticed that the Lakers and the Celtic explaining they
- 1:57:00just play. It's not it's not what we gotta get it back. It's
- 1:57:09not what all Lebron and Taco Tuesday Jyalen Brown all up in his kitchen.
- 1:57:15It's not the old Larry Bird and Larry Bird Magic Johnson rivaly. We grew
- 1:57:23up on that. But it's like Pittsburgh and the Cowboys. It's not the
- 1:57:28same rivalry Washington and Dallas at all. It's not that kind of rivalry in
- 1:57:32between those teams. New rivalries have formed. Uh, the Celtics seem to
- 1:57:36have more beef with the Hawks than they do. Well, okay, you
- 1:57:42sound like you're trying to do they have more than the Lakers. You're not
- 1:57:45trying to sound like a Celtic fan. Then I hope you're still with the
- 1:57:47Hawks now you're saying they sounded good. I was pointing out that Marcus Smart
- 1:57:53was a key member to their success, and I was wondering how they were
- 1:57:57going to replace that. They replaced it equally bringing in Drew Holiday. So
- 1:58:02as much as you might think they might dip down, they actually creamed up,
- 1:58:09maybe even cream rise to the top. Yeah, so I'm just because
- 1:58:14Marcus Smart was a two way player. Drew Holliday is a two way player,
- 1:58:16and I think than Marcus Smart could be. And that's that was my
- 1:58:23whole point. That gifted the Bucks, have gifted them just what they needed
- 1:58:28to still compete for a title. Enough, and we are in the ocean.
- 1:58:34The truth is he will throw your in the ocean. It's time to
- 1:58:40wrap things up on the Sports June Show with Wayney Well, you're the sounds
- 1:59:13of ocean. It gives us what y'all testa minute to Vin would like to
- 1:59:15thank you for tuning in to today's show. Bit Kenny, get healthy,
- 1:59:19gets well soon. We'll check on you a little later. Car accident this
- 1:59:25morning for my man Big Kenny comanchi, Greg Bad producer, thank you for
- 1:59:30your contributions today. The NFL is considering discipline against Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal and
- 1:59:41Adams for his actions towards an independent concussion doctor appointed by the league. Basically,
- 1:59:49the NFL is saying that Jamal Adams should not have been cursing out the
- 1:59:54doctor for telling him he can't go back in the game. Yes, should
- 2:00:01if you've never been there, then you never know. One of the only
- 2:00:06times I've ever cried is the game where the doctor told me he was not
- 2:00:12going to let me play. I went out, I warmed up. It
- 2:00:15was the first game in almost twenty four years of football that I had ever
- 2:00:21missed. And when the doctor told me and I tried, I tried to
- 2:00:27fake it that my knee was okay, I took more pain, and when
- 2:00:32he told me, I'm not going to sign off that you could play,
- 2:00:35it was emotional. I was mad at everybody. Tears came of anger that
- 2:00:40you were taking away what I wanted to do. Well. Imagine Jamal Adams,
- 2:00:44who has been one of the top safeties, missed the whole season last
- 2:00:47year basically because of injury, and now you're trying to tell him that because
- 2:00:54he can't count to one from two, he can't go back in the game.
- 2:01:00He mad, he big mad, It's an emotional game. Now he
- 2:01:05got to the locker room and choked the man in the stall. Then,
- 2:01:09yeah, but in the moment, in the heat of the bat on the
- 2:01:12field, he wasn't trying to hear that. You asked him if it was
- 2:01:16Sunday, he said it was Thursday. But in his mind he met Sunday,
- 2:01:23so NFL relaxedopped trying to playcate to the TV and society. Man was
- 2:01:30just mad, let it go, if the doctor let it go, let
- 2:01:33it go. But for that NFL threatening suspension because the man emotional that he
- 2:01:40can't go back in the game, walk up like I'm gonna go save him.
- 2:01:51Mike d if you're not, if you've never been there, commnsial,
- 2:01:55you never been there. But from the Sports Shock Show, as we always
- 2:02:00say on Thursday, we hope you have a great weekend and we'll see you
- 2:02:02in the future. Peace,
