- 0:00Hey guys, in this video I'm talking about 5 famous women
- 0:03with autism. All that's coming up Hey guys
- 0:12welcome back to the aspy world. My name is Dan.
- 0:14I have autism, ADHD, OCD and dyslexia and I make weekly
- 0:18videos on this type of content. So if you're new around here and

- 0:27like and I follow to see more videos just like this one.
- 0:30OK guys, so I decided to The heck was that.
- 0:33OK guys, So I decided to compile a list of five of the most
- 0:36interesting autistic women who are famous in a field, but also
- 0:40on the autism spectrum. And some of these people You
- 0:43probably didn't even know We're on the spectrum, Okay guys, if
- 0:46you're new to me and everything, I also have social media handles
- 0:48on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and TikTok.
- 0:52So if you want to go and follow me on all of those channels,
- 0:54please do so now because I upload content on all of those
- 0:57platforms. Okay.
- 0:58So this is kind of a fun one for me.
- 0:59I decided that like I've done videos on people who are famous,
- 1:02who are autistic and I've done videos on famous scientists and
- 1:07stuff like that who are on the autism spectrum and actors.
- 1:09And what I wanted to do is actually do on just on females
- 1:11on the autism spectrum because to me one of the most
- 1:14interesting things is that autism is very much a, you know
- 1:18it affects everybody and anyone. For the current diagnostic
- 1:22criteria, it shows that autism is 3 times likely in males and
- 1:25it is females, which is just because of the diagnostic
- 1:27process is set up for males rather than females.
- 1:29But that's slowly becoming a thing of the past.
- 1:31But at the moment that's still kind of the current consensus.
- 1:33So having a list of famous people with an autism spectrum
- 1:37disorder is kind of like a rarity really when you think
- 1:39about it. But when you think about famous
- 1:42people who are female with autism, I think that's like
- 1:44super rare. So I wanted to do this video
- 1:46dedicated to all those awesome, inspirational, hard working,
- 1:50epic women who are on the autism spectrum and they're famous.
- 1:54And I thought you guys could find some inspiration in a bit
- 1:56of a yeah, awesome moment, right.
- 1:58So let's get into it, Okay. So the first one was kind of
- 2:00like an obvious one is Doctor Temple Grandin.
- 2:03Now, Temple Grandin is a very famous Doctor of animal
- 2:07behavioral biology, or she's an animal scientist.
- 2:11She does stuff with like livestock behavior before
- 2:13slaughter or something to do with animals and slaughter.
- 2:16But regardless of her work with her science industry, she
- 2:20actually is very famous for being a Public Advocate and
- 2:22spokesperson on autism. She's written a few books, she's
- 2:26done some TV shows, and there's a documentary or a film made
- 2:28about her as well. So she's really famous and they
- 2:31studied Temple ground in kind of like as a standard model of
- 2:34talking about autism from an autistic persons point of view
- 2:36when doing degrees or studying anything.
- 2:39So she's very much an influential person in the autism
- 2:41community just because of how you know, accessible she is on
- 2:45the actual content she's put out to date.
- 2:47Now sample Grandin has a diagnosis of autism, which I
- 2:50think is just amazing and she's such a leading prominent figure
- 2:53in the autistic community. And so I'm really, really happy
- 2:56to to to mention it in this video.
- 2:59I've never had the the pleasure of interviewing or meeting
- 3:02Doctor Grandon yet, but I think I will at one point.
- 3:04I'm going to try and invite it over to do a video or even just
- 3:07be on my podcast for me because that would be kind of cool,
- 3:09wouldn't it? So hey, if you think that would
- 3:11be interesting to have me interview Doctor Grandon, leave
- 3:14me a comment in the comment section down below.
- 3:16Right now saying, Dan, you have to interview Doctor Grandon, so
- 3:19that would be really, really cool.
- 3:20Also guys, if you're enjoying this type of video, please give
- 3:22it a thumbs up. Thumbs up means you like this
- 3:24video and if you like this video means that I can make more of
- 3:26them and that's it. It's cool.
- 3:27Okay So #2 famous woman with autism.
- 3:32This is Anne Haggerty. Now, Anne Haggerty is a very
- 3:36famous British TV personality. She's also been on things like
- 3:40I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here because her celebrity
- 3:42status. She started off doing game show
- 3:45quizzes, I think on British television.
- 3:47And then she became like the main quiz master on this TV show
- 3:50called The Chase where like, you know, audience participation,
- 3:53members from the public have to go and test their intelligence
- 3:55and intellect out against somebody who's like a super
- 3:57brainiac. Now she is the brainiac that
- 4:00sits in the chair. And she pretty much almost
- 4:02always wins. And I think it's down to the
- 4:04fact that because she has a diagnosis of autism, she's able
- 4:07to, you know, her thing is to retain information of facts on
- 4:10on all kinds of stuff. So yeah, she's just super
- 4:12inspirational. And I think Anne really sets
- 4:15the, the, you know, the bar for like, oh wow, I didn't realize
- 4:18that person was autistic because she's got really good skills.
- 4:20And she's on TV because she's putting on like this act or what
- 4:23they call masking in In typical terms, I really think Anne is
- 4:28inspirational because she's showing that she can have a very
- 4:31interesting prominent career, even in television, being in the
- 4:34public eye on the autism spectrum.
- 4:36And she's killing it. And she's female.
- 4:38So yeah, Anne, I I, I tip my hat to you for being super awesome.
- 4:42And I'd love to interview Anne as well.
- 4:43Like, at some point, I know a friend of mine interviewed her
- 4:46on his podcast. Maybe I should reach out and
- 4:47interview her as well. I mean, these are just pretty
- 4:50awesome people. I I definitely like to have, you
- 4:52know, interviews with at some point, maybe even a blog or or a
- 4:56podcast post. But yeah, super interesting and
- 4:58Haggerty. Now the next one I'm going to
- 4:59talk about #3 is an awesome singer called Susan Boyle.
- 5:03Now Susan Boyle again is a British Scottish singer and
- 5:08celebrity. Now Susan Boyle was made famous
- 5:10and discovered on the TV show Britain's Got Talent.
- 5:14Now she was quite interesting because her appearance and the
- 5:17way her personality traits were didn't really match up to the
- 5:20expectations of such a fantastic voice coming out of this woman.
- 5:23So everyone kind of looked at her to say like, OK, there's
- 5:26this woman who who looks, you know, she's she's very dated in
- 5:28her dress sense. She's very kind of reserved.
- 5:31I don't think she's going to be that good of a singer just off
- 5:33the bat because let's face it, that's how the judges look at
- 5:35people, right? And she gets on stage and bouts
- 5:37out this awesome voice. And with the song, I think I
- 5:40dream a dream from like a musical.
- 5:43Anyway, since then she became like world famous for being this
- 5:47like kick butt awesome singer and yeah just she's just
- 5:50amazing. She then later came out and said
- 5:52that she had a diagnosis of Asperger's syndrome and she
- 5:55still lives with a mother in a like a state housing property in
- 5:59the UK regardless of her income of being like in excess of like
- 6:0250,000,000 lbs. But again, Susan is
- 6:04inspirational because I feel like there are people who relate
- 6:08to Susan in a way where, you know, they, they might feel kind
- 6:12of a bit different to the the the typical person.
- 6:16They may not dress. People want them to dress, but
- 6:18they still have the ability and the skills to give to something
- 6:21so amazing. I mean, look at the career that
- 6:22Susan has done. I mean, that's inspirational and
- 6:25should be very much inspirational for people,
- 6:27especially young women on the autism spectrum who want to do
- 6:29things like performing arts or TV personalities.
- 6:32Super dope. Super awesome.
- 6:33OK, so #4 super awesome. This one is Daryl Hannah.
- 6:38Now, Daryl Hannah is an American actress.
- 6:40She is really well known for being in the movie franchise for
- 6:44Kill Bill. Now, I haven't seen those
- 6:47movies. I know it's kind of like
- 6:48sacrilegious because everyone's like you've never seen Kill
- 6:50Bill, and I even did a movie and TV course when I was in college.
- 6:55I was doing media moving image. One of the things we have to do
- 6:57is study different movies and Kill Bill was one of them.
- 6:59But because of my inability to liken or have affinity to
- 7:04certain phrases or words because of my autism spectrum disorder,
- 7:07the movie title Kill Bill isn't appealing to me because it's
- 7:10kind of like it reminds me of put your hands in the air, like
- 7:12you just don't care. I feel like there's no real
- 7:14thought into the title, so the title alone put me off the
- 7:17movie. Regardless of my inability to
- 7:19watch the film. I know that Daryl Hannah is kind
- 7:21of like one of the main people in it.
- 7:23And um, she actually has a diagnosis of autism and it's
- 7:26just absolutely like kick butt. She's out there, she's killing
- 7:29it. She's like this stunning actress
- 7:32woman, like super high up in Hollywood, killing it with all
- 7:35these movies. And I think that's awesome.
- 7:37You know, it just shows that like, no matter where you are on
- 7:39the spectrum, it doesn't matter your inability to do something,
- 7:43your ability to do great things is what really counts.
- 7:46And these women so far, I just absolutely like thrashing it.
- 7:49They're killing it. And they're showing that it's
- 7:51possible. They're showing that you don't
- 7:52have to worry about like, oh, you know, I can't talk to those
- 7:56friends. I don't fit in in that group.
- 7:57Well, don't worry about those groups, man, do you?
- 7:59And you make your own group, and then you make that group
- 8:01successful. I love it.
- 8:02God, you guys are awesome. If you agree with what I'm
- 8:04saying, please go for your thumbs up.
- 8:06Mom, I love you guys. OK, so #5 is a very dear friend
- 8:12of mine. This woman is super
- 8:14inspirational. This is Charles Davis from MTV's
- 8:17Just to Two Of Us. Now.
- 8:19Charles Davis is a TV personality and MTV show star.
- 8:23I guess she's got like five seasons out of the show just to
- 8:26two of us. She's the only remaining
- 8:28original cast member and she's killing it, dude.
- 8:31You know, you think about like, you know, MTV personalities.
- 8:34This girl is killing it. Not only she is an MTV
- 8:37personality, but she's a tattoo artist on the show.
- 8:39So she's got the artistic skill that comes from her ability to
- 8:43create amazing images. And then also is a TV
- 8:47personality presenter because she's landed this show, you
- 8:50know, on MTV and it's super awesome.
- 8:53Not only that, she also has her own private tattoo studio, which
- 8:56is super awesome, and actually have some tattoo work done from
- 8:59Shell, which is on my arm here. And I will show you that when
- 9:03it's all finished, but I'll show you a sneak peek now.
- 9:05But in terms of Charles autism, Charles actually got the autism
- 9:09diagnosis while she was filming for MTV because MTV have
- 9:13different types of people on the show, like different, you know,
- 9:16you have therapists and people making sure that everything's
- 9:18running smoothly and the health and the mental health of all the
- 9:20staff and the crew are all doing well.
- 9:22And so then they took her through a diagnostic process and
- 9:25one of the top guys in the UK diagnosed with what would have
- 9:28been known as Asperger syndrome. But in 2013 they took that of
- 9:31the diagnostic criteria and now it's just the autism spectrum
- 9:34disorder. So Shell Davis has a diagnosis
- 9:37of the autism spectrum solid and is super, super awesome.
- 9:39She also has her own YouTube channel, which I will leave in a
- 9:42link below this video. And I have done tons of video
- 9:45with Shell Davis. So if you want to check out the
- 9:47top three videos I've done with Shell, you can check them out in
- 9:50the card above. I'll leave them on the end
- 9:51screen and I'll put them in a pinned comment on this video
- 9:56that's super awesome. So if that doesn't inspire you,
- 10:00I don't know what will. These women are absolutely
- 10:02killing it. I love each and every one of
- 10:04their stories and I think that they're absolutely fantastic.
- 10:06If you have any to add to this, put it in a comment down below.
- 10:08I'd love to see more inspirational women like this on
- 10:10the spectrum. If you are new around here,
- 10:12don't forget to subscribe and I'll see you next time guys.
- 10:15Peace.
