- 0:02Speaker 1: All right, thanks again Gene Watson, our MLB insider joining
- 0:06Speaker 1: us here on the program. I want to go back
- 0:09Speaker 1: there's one other baseball and I want to go back
- 0:10Speaker 1: to it before we jump back into football. And that's
- 0:12Speaker 1: this thing that I had to get Jane's thoughts on this,
- 0:16Speaker 1: this new Vegas stadium that is in the planning stages
- 0:21Speaker 1: for the A's. Again, this came out today because there's
- 0:26Speaker 1: been a lot of questions about, you know, when the
- 0:28Speaker 1: A's were leaving Oakland, and all we really knew for
- 0:31Speaker 1: sure was that there was a plan where they were
- 0:33Speaker 1: talking about a planning to be in Las Vegas, and
- 0:35Speaker 1: then we're going to play at least two seasons, probably
- 0:38Speaker 1: three in Sacramento and by the way, share the dates
- 0:43Speaker 1: with the ball club with the river Cats there, who
- 0:46Speaker 1: have the first call on dates there in Pacific Coast
- 0:50Speaker 1: League scheduling. So the A's are kind of, you know,
- 0:53Speaker 1: taking the back seat off of that deal. But it
- 0:56Speaker 1: did become official today that the owner, John Fisher and
- 0:59Speaker 1: the family says it's going to invest one million dollars
- 1:04Speaker 1: into the construction of this ballpark in Vegas, and US
- 1:08Speaker 1: Bank and Goldman Sachs will offer a three hundred million
- 1:11Speaker 1: dollars loan. According to club executive Sandy Dean, it was
- 1:14Speaker 1: the Las Vegas Stadium Authority Board had a special meeting
- 1:18Speaker 1: and he appeared before that.
- 1:20Speaker 2: He said that four letters, I guess the letters of credit,
- 1:22Speaker 2: things like that, will be.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Presented at the December December fifth authority meeting, asserting construction
- 1:31Speaker 1: details and that financing will be in place. Final approvals
- 1:35Speaker 1: are expected to be made at that meeting to allow
- 1:37Speaker 1: construction of a one point five billion dollars thirty three
- 1:42Speaker 1: thousand seat domed ballpark. They said, just thirty three thousand.
- 1:46Speaker 1: You know, some of these newer ballparks are not built cavernously.
- 1:51Speaker 1: They've figured in thirty five to forty thousand.
- 1:53Speaker 2: This is plenty.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I think PNC Park, which is one of my favorites
- 1:55Speaker 1: in Pittsburgh's thirty seven thousand, you know, Family's thirty fourth.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Of course that's an older ballpark. But even some of
- 2:01Speaker 1: the newer ballparks are not over about forty thousand. The
- 2:05Speaker 1: Rangers Ballpark Globe Life will seat fifty They can cram
- 2:10Speaker 1: it in there like for a World Series game last year.
- 2:13Speaker 1: But anyway, Sandy Dean, who as we mentioned, is the
- 2:19Speaker 1: club executive told said today told the board, we feel
- 2:24Speaker 1: like we're on the right path and it will become
- 2:25Speaker 1: clear in the months ahead. Construction is expected to begin
- 2:29Speaker 1: in the spring, with a targeted opening before the twenty
- 2:32Speaker 1: twenty eight season. As much as three hundred and eighty
- 2:35Speaker 1: million in public funding will go into building this stadium.
- 2:37Speaker 1: It's going to be on the strip where Tropic Cannon,
- 2:40Speaker 1: where the recently demolished Tropic Canna stood.
- 2:43Speaker 2: They stayed at the Tropic Cannon before hotel.
- 2:47Speaker 1: That's the Long Horn Basketball team already had their plans
- 2:51Speaker 1: for a different hotel before the demolition of that. Since
- 2:54Speaker 1: Texas will be out there Sunday night, the A's are
- 2:57Speaker 1: going to have to play at least the next three
- 3:03Speaker 1: seasons in West Sacramento, California. Twenty five, twenty six, and
- 3:07Speaker 1: twenty seven, the team did announce. How about this, The
- 3:11Speaker 1: team announced it's going to play sixty six to oh
- 3:14Speaker 1: sixty of its eighty one home games next season at night.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Eleven of the day games will be held in April
- 3:21Speaker 1: and May. Why you ask it's hot in Sacramento, it's Inland.
- 3:27Speaker 1: It's not right here on the coach. You don't get
- 3:29Speaker 1: that that marine layer. You don't get that cool ocean breeze.
- 3:32Speaker 1: You see, they're hoping to mitigate concerns about playing in
- 3:36Speaker 1: the extreme heat. The city experienced its hottest twenty day
- 3:41Speaker 1: stretch on record earlier this summer. Temperatures averaged one oh
- 3:46Speaker 1: three point eight from June twenty third to July twelfth.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Question Professor, Yeah, so they're concerned about heat, but they're
- 3:54Speaker 3: moving to the desert in Vegas.
- 3:55Speaker 2: How's that work?
- 3:56Speaker 1: Well, it's good. Well, yeah, it's a dumb it's a done.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Which is an outdoor ballpark at Sacramento that they're dealing with. Hey,
- 4:04Speaker 1: well look at Phoenix. You know they play it. They
- 4:07Speaker 1: play it. What's the name of the ballpark? They're Chase Field.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I thought the d Backs play.
- 4:12Speaker 3: I thought you're going to say they're playing all these
- 4:13Speaker 3: night games because they know people are gonna want to
- 4:15Speaker 3: watch them primetime. People are gonna want to watch that
- 4:17Speaker 3: seven oh five first pitch.
- 4:19Speaker 2: We're talking about the A's that think anybody wants to
- 4:21Speaker 2: see them in prime time? All right?
- 4:23Speaker 1: Uh, and you heard Gene Watsons are going to play
- 4:25Speaker 1: on natural grass in Sacramento, So they're going to do that.
- 4:28Speaker 1: The sixty night home games would tie the sixty eight
- 4:34Speaker 1: Athletics the first year in Oakland for the most in
- 4:37Speaker 1: a season in franchise history. And they're going to share
- 4:41Speaker 1: Sutter Health Park with the Triple A of the Giants.
- 4:45Speaker 1: The Sacramento river Cats, Major League Baseball Minor League Baseball
- 4:49Speaker 1: have worked together to ensure that Boat teams will not
- 4:51Speaker 1: play at home on the same day.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Well, yeah, that's probably a good idea.
- 4:54Speaker 1: So they're done after fifty seven years in Oakland, and
- 4:57Speaker 1: we knew they would be done after fifty seven years.
- 5:00Speaker 1: So now it looks like they've got a plan anyway
- 5:03Speaker 1: to be put in place for the coming days in
- 5:07Speaker 1: Sacramento and then on in the Las Vegas.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Can I tell you my genius plan with the A's,
- 5:11Speaker 3: You have a genius plan. I have a genius plan.
- 5:13Speaker 3: You know how retro stuff is really popular. People like
- 5:16Speaker 3: the stuff from twenty thirty years ago, a vintage. I'm
- 5:19Speaker 3: gonna go buy all the stuff that goes on clearance,
- 5:21Speaker 3: all the A's Oakland Athletics gear that's on clearance. I'm
- 5:25Speaker 3: gonna buy it all up, put it in boxes, make
- 5:27Speaker 3: sure that the moths don't get to it, and then
- 5:30Speaker 3: in twenty years.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I'm gonna pop it out. My kids are gonna love it. Yeah, yeah, sure,
- 5:33Speaker 2: there's the way to do it.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Our man, Mike Hardball Heart said, the A sold out
- 5:36Speaker 1: their season tickets for Sacramento today, So that's that's already done.
- 5:40Speaker 1: So the fans are excited about that, all right. So
- 5:46Speaker 1: there's that, all right. A couple of NFL notes. All right,
- 5:48Speaker 1: So the Texans play tonight. They're playing the Jets. You're,
- 5:53Speaker 1: by nature of Vikings fan, right, I am? Sadly?
- 5:56Speaker 2: Do you feel what that Ramas went over the Vikings
- 5:58Speaker 2: last week?
- 5:58Speaker 3: I think if they don't, if they call a face mask,
- 6:01Speaker 3: where another win in the column?
- 6:02Speaker 1: I kill?
- 6:03Speaker 2: You're not?
- 6:03Speaker 3: Oh yes we are.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Okay, all right, let's play your game for a moment, cowboy. Yeah,
- 6:09Speaker 1: if they call the face mask, the score is still
- 6:12Speaker 1: twenty eight twenty Los Angeles. The ball was moved out
- 6:15Speaker 1: to the twenty yard line, their own twenty yard line,
- 6:20Speaker 1: where they've got to go eighty yards in a minute
- 6:22Speaker 1: and fifteen seconds with no timeouts, score a touchdown, and
- 6:26Speaker 1: get a two point conversion just to tie it.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Where do you find a win out of all of that?
- 6:31Speaker 3: Who's the best receiver?
- 6:32Speaker 2: In football, Justin Jefferson.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Yeah, and they clamm down on him after the first half.
- 6:36Speaker 3: And here's what I'm saying.
- 6:37Speaker 2: I think I got him on my fantasy Jamie's going.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Oh, he's great. He sells jerseys if you give him
- 6:44Speaker 3: that opportunity to make a play.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Think about this.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Last year they were down thirty three to zero to
- 6:49Speaker 3: the Indiapolis Colts, who brought them back. Justin Jefferson, I'm
- 6:53Speaker 3: telling you, in that situation, if they can get that
- 6:55Speaker 3: call momentums on our side, I know a lot of
- 6:57Speaker 3: people don't believe in Uncle Moe.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Yeah, because they're eighty yards away a minute fifteen to
- 7:01Speaker 1: go with no timeouts.
- 7:02Speaker 2: This is why. And they hadn't scored a touchdown since
- 7:04Speaker 2: the second quarter.
- 7:05Speaker 3: My bread lime, my Thanksgiving is better than everybody else is.
- 7:07Speaker 3: I am my Uncle bo In. I bring Uncle momentum in.
- 7:10Speaker 3: You do that, we win that game. If they call
- 7:12Speaker 3: that face mask round.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Okay, they're gonna go eighty yards in a minute in
- 7:17Speaker 1: seventy five seconds with no timeouts when they had not
- 7:19Speaker 1: even scored a touchdown since the second quarter. They're gonna
- 7:22Speaker 1: get a touchdown and the two pointer to tie it,
- 7:26Speaker 1: and then win it in overtime.
- 7:27Speaker 2: That's your point.
- 7:27Speaker 3: We'll never know because we have three blind mice.
- 7:30Speaker 2: I guess we'll never know.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Okay, we'll be back the wrap of the hour here
