A man died in southeast Calgary after a volatile police encounter that began with reports of strange behavior and escalated when he allegedly attempted to stab someone inside a home. Officers used a conducted-energy weapon during the arrest, and after he fell into a tight space between a garage and fence, he became unresponsive despite CPR from officers until paramedics arrived. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is now investigating the use of force and the full sequence of events leading to his death.
