Transcript
- 0:00[UNKNOWN]: Thank you very much.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome to The Offices, a show covering the mighty Gulf, the NFL, pop culture, drinking culture and of course.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_02]: I show you how you're your host, Alphar T.I.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_02]: in myself.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: And we're on, this is The Offseason, with myself, Alfred R.T. Aga, and Marick Brave, who joins me every single offseason, and then he disappears, come July.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: Into the ether.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you disappear, every July, and then you return.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: As soon as the soup rolls over with, and we talk khaki, we talk football.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: We talk a lot of football on this episode, by the way, because the dolphins are making a lot of news.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: Not of the great kind, if you listen to Mike Florio, or if you listen to locally Dan Levitard, who my god, yes, that you don't watch any of this stuff, but I have to watch all of this stuff because I've conditioned myself to doing this because ever since I started in media, I was got into my head, I got to watch a lot of media to see what everybody
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: Good, God.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: Dan Levertar almost started crying yesterday.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like all they did was just cut regular.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like these cuts were expected.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like there was nothing unexpected.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: If they traded Tainland Water, yeah, that's unexpected.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: They trade a Devon HN, yeah, that would be unexpected.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: But none of the guys that they cut are unexpected and we may pitch about them trading a mink of its Patrick but you gotta understand it, correct?
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, when you looked at the guys that they cut on Monday,
- 1:46[SPEAKER_02]: How many of them really contributed much of anything last season for the Miami Dolphins?
- 1:51[SPEAKER_02]: I think Bradley Chub with his eight and a half sacks was actually the biggest contributor for the Dolphins last year, but Nick Westbrook at Keene caught 11 passes for the entire season.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_02]: Tyree Kill played three and a half games and then had that pretty gruesome knee injury.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_02]: He's trying to come back from now.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: No guarantee that he's actually
- 2:12[SPEAKER_02]: you know, even a fraction of the player that he once was 32 years old now coming back from this injury that he's dealing with for a receiver that's, you know, his game is based on speed and quickness.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_02]: That's not the type of injury at that age that you want to see for that kind of guy.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_02]: And then James Daniels played literally three snaps for the Miami Dolphins last year.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_02]: And this team still won seven games, you know what I mean?
- 2:38[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, not the type of season that we were
- 2:41[SPEAKER_02]: of the four players they cut on Monday the only one of consequence was Bradley Chobb and he's about to turn 30 years old and he had clearly lost his step himself so it wasn't like the dolphins got much worse with the cuts that they made this week you know if they trade make a Fitzpatrick that's another you know another loss in the secondary in a secondary that already you know is you know over-performing last season but it's still looking to fill plenty of holes
- 3:09[SPEAKER_02]: That's where the Miami Dolphins are right now.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_02]: They are rebuilding their retooling.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: They're trying to get younger.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_02]: They're trying to build through the draft.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: That's what, you know, John Eric Sullivan has said, since he got here in Miami, that is the Green Bay Packers way.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_02]: you can't have it both ways, right?
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: If you're going to cheer and applaud the higher of Sully, like we all did, you can't sit here in bitch when he starts to trim the fat and get a younger cheaper roster with an emphasis on maximizing draft picks, which is what would happen if the dolphins were to trade Minka.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_02]: So I think
- 3:46[SPEAKER_02]: I'm on board.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: I know you're on board Alph.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think a lot of people in the only fans, only fans discord server are on board.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody else out there in the Twitter universe who's freaking out right now.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_02]: But you know what?
- 4:00[SPEAKER_02]: Let them freak out.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_02]: If they want to, if they want to get in on this Alph, you tell them how they can do it.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's of course you got to go to our discord and to do that you got to go to discord.gg forward slash only fins You become a member there all access for four ninety nine a month.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: I put a link to every single one of our promotions of every single one of our podcasts So you can just click on the link and then join remember join on a desktop don't pay Apple their upcharges I completely agree the problem is that it's all the local opinion makers.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's the biggest show in Miami down Levitard who devoted
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: 45 minutes because I counted it because I I just started it and and I'm like okay This should go on for another 12 to 15 minutes and then I turned it off and then I went on and I checked again And it was like they're still going and it's 45 minutes later and they were still going at it The fans are just not they're not happy They think that this is more than what it is it's a step back.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: You once seven games last year You weren't good last year
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know why you would expect to improve on those seven wins this year when it's not a managed decline, it's just a natural decline due to the salary of cap space that you've got to recover from what you spent from 2023 and 2022, so yeah, I just don't get it.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: And what I don't get is that the fans
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: Especially on Twitter and in social media where we've conditioned them to understand and learn You know what is actually going on?
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: They don't care either like they're they're dancing around the campfire with The beat riders the local media the national media who has already gotten in on the act
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, I don't get it, I don't know what you make of what the fans are doing, but it's kind of annoying, right?
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I've been at this thing for what?
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: Eight years doing podcasts and...
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: I hope I've converted a lot of people, but maybe I've only converted this audience, you know?
- 6:16[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe, you know, there's a lot of people that still follow whatever the national media tells them, that's what they're going to believe in, right now everybody's down on the Miami Dolphins, that's the popular thing, you know, you were just mentioning Mike Florio and the things that he's been writing about these dolphins, the tank is on.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_02]: like we talked about what did they really lose by making the cuts that they just made you know Bradley Chub had eight and a half sacks but a lot of those sacks were just clean up duty you know i hate to say it he had clearly lost a step he didn't have the same past rushing prowess that he had had
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: in previous years and he was coming off of an an entire miss season in 2024 and now he's turning 30 years old like he's he's not magically going to return to form at least for the long haul so you know this this team is where they are but these cuts in my opinion didn't really make them all that worse you know
- 7:14[SPEAKER_02]: You weren't losing significant contributors to the season that the Dolphins had in 2025.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_02]: So you're just trying to find a way to clear some cap space, correct your books, try and get back on the right track, try to get a little bit younger.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_02]: That's what they're doing here.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_02]: You mentioned fans freaking out.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_02]: Seth Rollins has a personal trainer out in LA, who is a massive Miami Dolphins fan.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_02]: So he will often text me to try and get the pulse on on what's going on.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_02]: And man, Monday, he crashed out dude.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_02]: He was sending me text after text after text about, you know, I don't know if I can do this anymore, man.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_02]: This this team's breaking my heart and and you know, I'm seeing all these players go.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_02]: I had such high hopes for
- 7:58[SPEAKER_02]: For Mike McDaniel, it's such a high hopes for two a tangle by Loa, and I was like, listen, dude, we've been there before.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_02]: We're doing it again.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_02]: This time, hopefully we have the right decision makers in place.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a big fan of John Eric Sullivan, you know, hoping that Jeff Hathley turns out to be a fantastic coach.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's a nice mix between the the sternness,
- 8:25[SPEAKER_02]: The disciplinarian of a Brian Flores and the new school kind of mentality of a Mike McDaniel, but he's not going to let people walk all over him like Mike McDaniel did his first couple years in Miami and that obviously set a very bad tone and a bad precedent for his final two years here.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 8:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's one of those things where you just kind of have to let it play out.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_02]: Monday is just one page in one chapter of the book that is going to be the 2026 season for the Miami Dolphins.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_02]: And who knows, maybe they turn around in free agency and get a Malik Willis at quarterback.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe he turns out to be
- 9:04[SPEAKER_02]: the the next dual threat quarterback who's really set in the league on fire and if you watch his tape the last couple years in Green Bay he absolutely has the potential to be that so you never know it's never over till it's over it's never over till the fat lady sings in this fat lady ain't singing yet so I'm
- 9:25[SPEAKER_02]: I'm on board.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'm on board with all of the moves that they've made so far.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_02]: None of those were particularly surprising.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_02]: If they trade Minkum, maybe that's a little bit more surprising to me, but with John Eric Sullivan saying he needed more draft picks, trading in the aging safety, who has, you know, a little bit of a decline over the last couple years, but it's still playing high-level football, trading him for, you know,
- 9:52[SPEAKER_02]: maybe a third round pick, if you can get that forum, maybe a little bit better if you throw in a sweetener who knows, if you can get that and increase the amount of draft picks you have this year, you're well on your way to remaking this roster in GEES's image here, and I think that's a good thing.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's a good thing for the Miami Dolphins, I think everybody just needs to...
- 10:12[SPEAKER_02]: Show a little patience and I know that's kind of tough to do in this Michael wave society that we live in But if you have a little patience, I think this is gonna pan out for the good for the Miami Dolphins Yeah, by the way, a team USA in Sweden like this is a hell of a hockey game.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's going back and forth This is gonna be pretty tight
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully I get to announce a goal on the air here in the time we have left over the next big thing that they got to get done is this two of thing, and You know, uh, Florio today, you know, uh
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: for somebody that hates to as much as Mike Florio does he sure does a lot of shows about him and a lot of videos about him so do you get the sense because my god you listen to what some of these guys are saying oh my god they're going to have to attach a second round pick to to it just to get no rid of him look
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'll tell you right here.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: This is not a spoiler.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: This is a spoiler.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: This is not an opinion.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to be able to trade him.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: Once you're paying off most of that contract for this year, a lot of the things I'm going to look at to a tongue of Aloha and think it's a bargain to get them for the minimum contract as your backup or possible starter if you need them.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: So, I think two is actually going to be kind of attractive in that regard.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: Now, are you going to get a first rompick?
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely not.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: But can you get a fifth rompick or something like that for them?
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: Why not?
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: I don't get the sense that.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: what you know what these guys are saying on especially in the national media and sometimes the fans locally like in the fans locally like they're talking like you listen to them yeah i do they want the team to improve or they're just trying to destroy the team with what they're saying because
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: I don't get the sense that it's going to be that hard to trade them.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: I really don't.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: Once you're paying office to his deal, pretty much I could count maybe 20 teams that would want them as they're back up, essentially the veteran minimum.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: because it also frees up money for a lot of these teams, salary cap wise, to take on to a at the vet minimum.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I don't think it's going to be that hard to trade them.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: You thought, because it's happening soon.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: It should happen within the next two weeks.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's a quarterback driven, driven league, right?
- 12:43[SPEAKER_02]: And you don't even just need one good quarterback anymore.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_02]: You need a backup.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_02]: A quarterbacks get injured all the time.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_02]: And you want to have somebody there who can step in and be a quality replacement for you if your start-a-gets injured.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: So there are places to a Cougat traded to where he might have a chance to start.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_02]: Look at Minnesota.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_02]: As a team with JJ McCarthy kind of not panning out the way he has with a lot of those teams playing in domes obviously got the Packers out doors and the bears currently outdoors, but it looks like they'll be building a A domes stadium in the near future.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_02]: There's I don't know if you've seen this out.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: There's rumors that the Chicago Bears could be moving to Iowa
- 13:25[SPEAKER_02]: of all places.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_02]: My home state, I'll believe it when I see it.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_02]: That's absurd.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_02]: It's nowhere near, you know, Gary, Indiana, pretty close to Chicago.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_02]: Iowa's two and a half hours away, no matter which direction you're driving.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, you know, to a tongue out by Loa,
- 13:41[SPEAKER_02]: At one point was an MVP candidate in the National Football League.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_02]: At one point, he led the league in completion percentage, passing yards, you know, average yards per target.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_02]: Like he has shown that he can be a quality starter in this league.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_02]: Last year was an abysmal year for two a tongue out by Lowa, which is why the Miami Dolphins are willing to move on from him.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_02]: you know, if if need be here and it sounds like that's their preferred option.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_02]: I keep talking about to what possibly going to the LA Rams.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_02]: They have an aging starter and Matthew Stafford.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the same system.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_02]: run by Sean McVeigh, you know, run a little bit better than Mike McVeigh, and he was been running that system in Miami.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_02]: But if, if two were to go to LA, you know, playing on the west coast, playing in dome stadiums, playing in good weather, backing up, Matthew Stafford, kind of,
- 14:39[SPEAKER_02]: getting some time to get his feet back underneath him.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_02]: I think by the time Stafford retired in a year or so, two of could do good things for the Rams offense.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's a good spot.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_02]: A good landing spot if you were to get traded to a place that wasn't willing to have him be a starter right away.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_02]: But you're right.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_02]: If the Dolphins attach any sort of high
- 15:02[SPEAKER_02]: ground draft pick just to move on from to his contract something went horribly wrong and in that case if that's what other teams are asking for I just keep them I just keep them on the roster anyways because you're going to have to pay them at peace here you're going to have to pay him at peace not here I would keep them on the roster and you know I would still sign Malik Willis and then I would have to a backup and and be able to come in in case of injury knock on wood
- 15:27[SPEAKER_02]: to where they simply were able to get a hold of them.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't think there's any sense in not only pay or not paying his contract down and I do understand that'll need to be part of the deal wherever he goes.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_02]: But if your paying his contract down and attaching a second or third round pick to move on from him, that's too rich for my blood.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_02]: And in that scenario, I'm just keeping him on to Miami Dolphins and he's a break in case of emergency player for us if that's how it's going to play out.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, somebody before we go to break here, somebody put a question in the chat, and yes, I've What about Barry's reporting on the consequences of Miami paying down his contract in trade?
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: Here's what here's the the misconception that people have here There's only one way where you're just completely free of to his contract and that's if somebody trades for them and takes on the entire thing
- 16:21[SPEAKER_00]: the chances of that happening are zero.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like that's not happening.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: So there's going to be consequences no matter what.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like no matter how how how you slice it, Miami will be on the hook for pretty much all of his guarantee this year.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's just the fact.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like that gets expensed.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_00]: It will show up on their balance sheet for the at least the next two years.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like that's happening.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_00]: And the last thing I would say before we go to break here is that if you want great reporting
- 16:50[SPEAKER_00]: salary cap matters for that matter you want to follow our guy Chris Kaufman or cowcrabbs on locked on dolphins like they do the best job on the salary cap pretty much everybody else like they don't know what they're talking about all right we're gonna go to break and when we come back we're gonna talk a little Malik Willis but first these words
- 17:15[SPEAKER_00]: And we're back.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_00]: If you notice, Martin, my voice slowed down there for a little bit right there before the break.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: That was because Sweden just took a shot from the blue line that looked extremely dangerous.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_00]: Butler, you know who took it?
- 17:28[SPEAKER_00]: You know who took it?
- 17:29[SPEAKER_00]: For Sweden?
- 17:32[SPEAKER_02]: He's got to be a Panther, right?
- 17:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Florida Panther, Gustav Forsling.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: So, this is a good game.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: This is a really good game.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: Team USA is playing a lot better here in the second period.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: They're looking much more dangerous, but Sweden hasn't given it up yet.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_00]: hasn't given up that goal yet.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_00]: Malik Willis.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't get this at all, okay?
- 17:55[SPEAKER_00]: You go on Twitter and people are like, oh my god, he's, H.A.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_00]: FEELY all over again, he's a bum.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm thinking of myself, okay, if he's a bum, you draft a quarterback in 2027, like, what is the problem?
- 18:13[SPEAKER_00]: I don't get it.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: Do you have an explanation for me for why fans are so down, and essentially just buying a lottery ticket?
- 18:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'll give you an example.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: If I offered you a lottery ticket, would you take it?
- 18:34[SPEAKER_00]: Sure, and I would have offered you 50 scratch-off tickets, would you say, no, you know what, I don't feel like scratching off 50 scratch-off tickets Yeah, I don't think I can I don't think I can waste my time with with these scratch-offs.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_02]: No, man If they're free, I'm taking them, right?
- 18:50[SPEAKER_02]: You can't win if you don't play.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_00]: Well guess what?
- 18:54[SPEAKER_00]: For everybody right now, it's listening to us insane, but he's not free.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to cost you a fortune.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_00]: No, he's not
- 19:05[SPEAKER_00]: He's essentially going to be free because you have over a hundred and six million dollars in Saturday cap space slated coming to you in 2027.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_00]: You gotta spend it somehow.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: All right, you gotta spend that Saturday cap somewhere.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_00]: And if you only have a two-year commitment meeting this year and the following year, we're just likely what they're going to have, then this is a scratch-off ticket.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: And...
- 19:34[SPEAKER_00]: There is no downside here.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: You wanted a lot of swings at the plate for a quarterback?
- 19:40[SPEAKER_00]: This is how you do it.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't have a problem at all.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_00]: Going after Milly Quillus.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_00]: And by the way, I think Miami is a good sell.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_00]: You have a good left tackle, a good center, a good running back and a good ride receiver.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_00]: Not many teams, not even the really good ones have all of those things.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_00]: And then you get to add to it.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: Because that's why everybody keeps saying, oh my god, you know, roster sucks.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_00]: Well, guess what?
- 20:03[SPEAKER_00]: that's what the draft is for.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_00]: That's a free agency is for.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_00]: Although, you know, we don't know if this outfit's gonna spend a lot in free agency.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: My thinking is that they probably won't, but your thoughts on this Malik Willis thing because I don't get it.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a no-brainer at this point.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I am all in.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_02]: I am as the as the kids would say as my kids would say I am tentos in on Malik Willis, you know, watching him play for the Green Bay Packers last year in the season before.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_02]: The packers are, you know, the bears and the packers of the two teams in my area in Iowa, those are the two most popular teams.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_02]: So you see a lot of packers, games on TV, you see a lot of bears, games on TV often times bears versus packers, right?
- 20:50[SPEAKER_02]: And we saw a pretty fantastic performance from Malik Willis against the bears last season.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_02]: Malik Willis does not look like your average
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: your standard backup quarterback and I think that's where the stigma comes from alpha.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think a lot of people just hear backup quarterback and they go, okay, well, I'm not willing to take somebody else's cast off.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not willing to take somebody else's leftovers, but Malik Willis is a former, is he a second round draft pick?
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: Alpha or was he a third round draft pick?
- 21:21[SPEAKER_02]: Malik Willis?
- 21:21[SPEAKER_00]: I believe it was a second round draft pick.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_02]: I believe, yeah, second round draft pick, you know, didn't play it a major school, so it's not like fans have, you know, this, this, this catalog of games that they can, they can reach back to in, in their memories and think, oh, yeah, you know, I watch a ton of Liberty games, uh, Liberty College football games, Malik Willis went to the Titans, the Titans have been SCORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
- 21:49[SPEAKER_02]: We get one.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_00]: Larkin from the blue line.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_00]: Team USA 1, Sweden 0.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_02]: I just put the game on my phone here on my direct TV app.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_02]: So yes, I'm seeing the replay now.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_02]: There we go.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_02]: That's how we do it boys.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_02]: USA USA.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_02]: But you know, Malik Willis went to the Tennessee Titans.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_02]: They are, they've been in just the,
- 22:11[SPEAKER_02]: absolute dumpster fire of an organization for quite a while, you know, they had a couple good years with Mike Frable as the coach and then they stupidly fired him and let him go to the New England Patriots, and now he's our problem for the foreseeable future, but Malik Willis, he has a strong arm, he hasn't...
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: accurate arm, his mobility is off the charts compared to anything the Dolphins have had at the quarterback position like maybe ever in the franchise's history, and he has familiarity.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_02]: with our new decision makers.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: He was in Green Bay with John Eric Sullivan.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: He was in Green Bay with Jeff Hathley.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_02]: He ran the scout team against Jeff Hathley's defense and that's how they got to know each other and they became buddies They became friends and Jeff Hathley has a lot of respect for Malik Willis.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_02]: The dolphins have the ability to
- 23:08[SPEAKER_02]: to take a shortcut right skip to the front of the line finding a quarterback who can be your quarterback for the future is the number one priority for any organization in the National Football League and the Dolphins through their connections with Jeff Haffley and J.E.S.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_02]: Those connections with Malik Willis, they have the opportunity if they get the financials figured out.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_02]: They have the opportunity to skip to the front of a line and add in my opinion, a top-end high quality starter to this roster.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_02]: Malik Willis, not your average backup quarterback, you don't get these opportunities often in the national football league.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_02]: The Miami Dolphins,
- 23:49[SPEAKER_02]: reportedly will take a swimming right and they better swing for the fences whatever it takes to get Malik will listen south florida that's what i'm doing he is my number one target you know the dolphins have no chance at getting for nanomendosa in the draft obviously he's going to the Las Vegas Raiders there's nobody else no other quarterbacks in this draft that you would want to take it pick number eleven maybe there's some some scratch-off tickets later on a tail and green or
- 24:16[SPEAKER_02]: Cade club neck if he's your flavor, but Malik will this is the guy I want in Aquan Orange starting next season and you know Maybe the roster isn't super attractive beyond the pieces you mentioned HNW at all Patrick Paul air and brewer
- 24:32[SPEAKER_02]: But that's good enough to start with, but starting in 2027, the Miami Dolphins will have oodles of cap space, they'll have you even more draft picks, and they will continue to build this team the right way, and I want Malik Willis to be the leader of this organization, at least on the field.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_02]: I'm right there with you, I'm all in, I am all in on Malik Willis.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_02]: If they can get this done, that's a successful offseason for me, regardless of who else they do or do not sign.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_00]: All right, last thing on this and then we'll talk a little bit little wrestling and maybe a little hockey team you say by the way is is buzzing on that goal by the way It was Jack Hughes from the blue line.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_00]: Tiped in by Larkin beautiful beautiful shot from the assists from Quinn Hughes Who's a fabulous player by the way?
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: I got to watch the Minnesota wild a little bit more
- 25:20[SPEAKER_00]: Last thing, when did it go bad because I'll tell you when it went really, really bad, when they realized, you know what, this is not going to work here, and I think it's going to be a little later than normal, because if tool was still right, I think that this build has a little bit more life.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_00]: But I want to say two events.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's both Buffalo games in 2024.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_00]: He gets the concussion.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_00]: Now you realize he might have a shorter career.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_00]: He comes back from concussion.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_00]: The offense looks okay, it looks like they look like themselves.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_00]: They play a fabulous game in Buffalo.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_00]: Again, set the time, the number one seed in the AFC, and my opinion, they outplayed Buffalo.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_00]: They drive the length of the field to put those narratives to bed.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: He drives the length of the field in Buffalo to tie the game.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_00]: They lose on a 61-yard field goal.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think that was the end for this build and everything that came after words was essentially a waste of time.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_00]: What'd say you?
- 26:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, it's such a bummer, man.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_02]: It really is such a bummer.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_02]: Two a Tonga by Lowe looks so good for a couple years there.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_02]: He really did look like the future of this organization and and he was realizing the
- 26:50[SPEAKER_02]: Even prior to the Dolphins drafting him, there was the entire tank for to, you know, movement that I was certainly a part of.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_02]: I wanted him on the Miami Dolphins.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_02]: When he got drafted, I collapsed to the floor in my living room in jubilation.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_02]: I was so excited that I felt the Dolphins had the best quarterback on the roster that they had had since Dan Marino retired 20 years prior.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_02]: And here we are now, five, six years.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_02]: after that and it just didn't work out.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_02]: It didn't work out for this team due to the injuries, you know, obviously the devastating hip injury during to a senior season at Alabama and then you mentioned the concussions and those played a big part.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_02]: You know, even
- 27:34[SPEAKER_02]: look back to what Darren Waller said about to uh you know this off season where he thought two was issues were less physical and more mental you know and and who knows what was going on behind the scenes obviously there was a lot of pressure for this team to perform if Mike McDaniel wanted to keep his job and and this just uh
- 27:55[SPEAKER_02]: just didn't work out.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_02]: It didn't work out and you know, where it all went wrong, it's hard to say the concussions for Tua obviously a big deal, you know, you had that, you had that long touchdown pass to Trent Surefield in San Francisco.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_02]: And the dolphins were in first place in the F.C.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_02]: and looking like they might earn a by week and then force every other team to come to sunny south Florida when the rest of the country is dealing with wintertime and it really felt like the dolphins were in the driver's seat for winning playoff games potentially.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_02]: getting to an AFC championship game and dare I even say a Super Bowl after that and then Brock Party comes in after the Jimmy Garoppolo injury and just shreds our defense as the the Mr. irrelevant the the final pick in the draft of your prior and and to me that's kind of where things started to go downhill because it felt like we were invincible almost at that point and then to watch a
- 28:58[SPEAKER_02]: 7th round pick now he's turned out to be a pretty darn good quarterback himself, Brock Perty, but to see if 7th round pick the last pick in the draft come in and do that to our defense and and cause us to lose that game.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_02]: That's when people started losing faith.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_02]: I started losing a little faith myself.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_02]: But you know we're we're turning a new page right now.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_02]: We get an opportunity to to to move forward and and see what this team can do under new leadership and
- 29:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a position we haven't been in before Dolphins fans.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_02]: We've been in here in this position plenty of time.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_02]: So you know how it goes.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_02]: You know how it goes.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to have to we're going to have to fight through this.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to take our, take our bumps here.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_02]: But I think we're going to end up being all right on the back end of this.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_02]: And I do feel really positive about this new regime.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_02]: And I really hope it leads us to where we want to go.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_00]: yeah somebody writes in the chat a question and also a comment hypothetical different with this season that played out it will this was the two thousand twenty five started meeting last season if he's the player people believe he is i don't want a stripping down the roster wasting a year uh... if he was the quarterback last year i think they went to more games maybe so maybe they're ninety eight or maybe they win one more game
- 30:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's, you know, assuming that he's as good as as he has been for an entire season.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_00]: Because you got to remember that there was some bad football that this defense played early in the season.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_00]: There's no quarterback to beat anybody from those games.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_00]: But to the win, the Carolina game probably not, because to a play really well, and that one, to the win the New England game probably not.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_00]: But I think they're competitive and pretty much every single one of the rest of the losses that season.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_00]: So maybe not just Cincinnati game because the defense just completely fall apart in that game.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I think they win one or two more games.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_00]: And if they win one or two more games, that's eight and nine or nine and eight.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_00]: You know, if you win two more games, you have a shot at a playoffs spot.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that that's he would make them a lot better.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's move off of this.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, ticking down toward the end of the second period, it's still one nothing team USA over Sweden.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_00]: Did you see the story about TKO and first of all, let me start here.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_00]: Have you watched, are you a boxing fan, Marek?
- 31:33[SPEAKER_02]: What is when I was a little kid in Mike Tyson was not competing out in the first round every fight?
- 31:38[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you're aware that TKO owns Zufa boxing, which is run by Dana White, so essentially they're under the same umbrella as WWE, and one thing that you can say for them is their production value and the people that they've hired are absolutely top notch, but there was
- 32:08[SPEAKER_00]: and outfit or two.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_00]: Now, it would make sense if they spun off Zufa to Turkey, Alashik of Saudi Arabia, who is the entertainment director of Saudi Arabia.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that would make some sense because he's heavily involved in boxing, but it's also a rumor that TKO might spin off the WWE, which means the WWE will become Saudi-owned.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_00]: No chance that happens, right?
- 32:37[SPEAKER_02]: hope not.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_02]: I really would hope that that does not happen.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I mean, just being 100% honest, I'm not thrilled with the partnership that WWE has with with the Saudi government right now.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_02]: And we, we mentioned this last week.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like wrestling and WWE soul has been sold to the highest bidder right now.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not a big fan of it.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_02]: I really am not a big fan of it.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_02]: And it feels like.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_02]: For something that is supposed to be an art form right now.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_02]: I know people say you know Professor wrestling some people say anyways at least professor wrestling's a sport Then in this business for 22 and a half years.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_02]: I run one of four WWE ID sanctioned Wrestling schools here in Davenport Iowa in Black and Brave and
- 33:26[SPEAKER_02]: I can tell you, I'm not going to be pretentious enough to tell you that professional wrestling is a sport.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a sport.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_02]: You have to be athletic to do it, but obviously the outcomes are predetermined.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_02]: This is an art form, and I feel like an art form.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_02]: to connect to its audience, has to have some of its soul, some of its substance left.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_02]: And I feel like we're losing that with the partnership with the Saudi government right now.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_02]: And to me, it's been kind of sad to watch.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_02]: I don't enjoy it.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_02]: So if they were to go all on Saudi owned, I'd be pretty disappointed in that.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_02]: I really would.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_00]: uh... team you say just took up tripping call and team you say has a power play right now with two twenty left in the second period uh... i agree with you and i think there's always like an inflection point in the life of a lot of these companies when you wonder okay this company was on top and now they're no longer on top and this little upstart is the one who is on top
- 34:32[SPEAKER_00]: Now, you know, I'm a bit critic of AEW.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, the champ right now is MJF, right?
- 34:38[SPEAKER_00]: And MJF doesn't interview, right?
- 34:42[SPEAKER_00]: With, uh, I keep forgetting the guy's name, but he's one of these, uh, Internet and YouTube, you know, wrestling content stars.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_00]: I'll send you the link when I got a chance.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_00]: And MJF essentially is in character for an hour and 15 minutes, which is awesome, like he answers every single question in character, and I'm starting to think that that's him, like that might just be him.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, I'll, you know, I've only interacted with MJF through direct messages many, many years ago, but he is very similar to his television personality.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_00]: Was he a character in those DMs?
- 35:27[SPEAKER_02]: So when he was DMing me, he was just kind of breaking into the professional wrestling business.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_02]: He was in Chicago, my promotions, two and a half hours outside of Chicago, which isn't too far in terms of independent wrestling.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_02]: And he was begging to get on my shows, but at the time I didn't have any room for him.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_02]: So I told MJF, no, probably four or five separate times.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_02]: And now I'm kind of kicking myself.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_02]: It'd be nice to say, oh, you know, he's an alum of my organization, but
- 35:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he does hate CM Punk.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'll say that.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people do.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_00]: He called him a piece of shit on the interview.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm thinking that this just might be the inflection point.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_00]: The AEW might need.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_00]: Now, are they in competent enough where they'll blow this opportunity?
- 36:22[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_00]: But if they're smart, if they're smart,
- 36:28[SPEAKER_00]: like this could be that moment, right?
- 36:31[SPEAKER_00]: You agree?
- 36:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like this could be the moment.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_02]: I certainly think that WWE has been making some questionable decisions over the last year or so.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it's turning a lot of people off.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I think AEW provides a very easily accessible alternative.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_02]: And if
- 36:53[SPEAKER_02]: If you are going to be driving your fanbase away, and there is an alternative that you can look to, that's as easily accessible as AEW, I think you run the risk of losing a lot of your core fanbase.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_02]: Um, who doesn't want to get involved with the politics of the Saudi government and this and the other and just wants wrestling to be about wrestling and I think AEW could provide that if, you know, they kind of get their ducks in a row and get their heads on straight and start doing things, you know, a little bit better in terms of storytelling and things like that.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_02]: You got to give a reason for people to continue to tune in week after week.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_02]: And if they're able to do that, then yeah, they could, they could, they could put a serious dent in the popularity of WWE right now because it feels like they're real in a little bit.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and of course we've got WrestleMania season on the horizon over the next couple months, so they'll be in the spotlight and they have every opportunity to kind of to re-snatch the ball and make it theirs.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_02]: But we'll see if they're able to do that, but AEW is certainly in a position where
- 38:04[SPEAKER_00]: They've got a lot of goodwill with the wrestling fan base and we'll see what they deal with it By the way Powerplay over and they're taking and the second period is over and Team USA is taking a one nothing lead over Sweden into the third period So let's hope they all don't
- 38:24[SPEAKER_00]: All right, I think we came to the end of it.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_00]: Let's just hope that what they're planning on spinning off is zoo for boxing, because I think the Saudis can actually help boxing immensely, because let's face it.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_00]: Boxing is all about who has the most dollars, because whoever has the most dollars makes the best fights.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_00]: One last thing I gotta ask you is, did you see that Netflix is making the Ronda Rousey Gina Coronel fight?
- 38:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like Jesus Christ, did you see that?
- 38:50[SPEAKER_02]: I did see that.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_02]: I will be watching intently, um, I'm not ashamed to admit that when I first heard of Gina Corrano, I was like, this woman is incredibly attractive and it made me interested in the type of athletic events that she's partaking in.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_02]: Now she's kind of falling off in that world or whatever, but I'll tune in.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_02]: I'll tune in to watch her do her thing.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_02]: She's good looking gal.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, she's an absolute babe and she was a she was a pioneer like she was an absolute killer as an MMA fighter I don't have you ever saw her did you ever see her fight?
- 39:26[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_00]: She was an absolute killer as an MMA fighter.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_00]: Her issue was when she ran into a couple of wrestlers, and that could manipulate her on the ground, and you could tell that she just wasn't a depth of that.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_00]: She's a better boxer than anything else.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_00]: So maybe she'll be able to box Ronda Rossi's face off because let's face it, Ronda Rossi.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_00]: Ronda Rossi can't box even though she's insistent on trying it.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_00]: She tried it.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_00]: She's so stubborn as a fighter that she essentially ended her career getting knocked out twice by trying to stand up with the two best
- 40:15[SPEAKER_00]: in, in a holly home and in a man in Nunes, that was just stupid when she's a world-class judo practitioner.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like that's what she should do.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_00]: Now if she stands up with Gina Corono and tries to slug it out with her, she might fucking lose.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_00]: But I always thought that Gina Corrano and Ronorazi would have made just long time WWE fixtures.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_00]: They don't even have to be around too long.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_00]: Just make them special attracts and bring them out for all the big events.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 40:50[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to put a belt on them.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_00]: Right, especially Gina Corona.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_00]: Gina Corona's a nice bunch.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_00]: Gina Corona's a babe and she's she's super nice.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_00]: She's like a great great person Ronald Rossi, depending on who you talk to, is a complete bitch.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_02]: You know, so anyway, talk to a few of those people.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so anyway, this fight could go one of two ways.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_00]: She stands up with Gina Corona.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_00]: Gina Corona could be better.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_00]: She goes back to her roots, which is judo and Gina Corona does a stand a chance.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_00]: Again, it's Ronald Rossi.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_00]: But I'll be tuning in.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's a me, right?
- 41:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like that's it's a me.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yup.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'll be tuning in.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'll be able.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_00]: the offseason will be raging on at that point we can certainly talk about it on here we'll preview the fight as well yeah we'll preview the fight it's a miracle by the way the genica rhino has never never gotten into w she could earn money she's you know athletically inclined she has the the mma chops you know she's great looking i don't know why she never got into that will maybe this will be what uh... helps her kick down the door will see
- 41:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, all right, that's it.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_00]: There is no more.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_00]: We will do this again next week and as these weeks go on, we're going to become more wrestling intensive and more hockey intensive.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_00]: Next week, I will be headed toward Port St. Lucy.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_00]: Do you know what?
- 42:13[SPEAKER_00]: What's happening in Port St. Lucy?
- 42:24[SPEAKER_00]: one of my favorite teams train there.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, is this one next week?
- 42:33[SPEAKER_02]: It's gonna be hockey-related can it be?
- 42:35[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's Matt Spring Training.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, Jesus.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, boy.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_02]: That was a big fumble by me, but yes, I'm I am so excited for the start of baseball season.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_02]: I do love baseball.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, uh, one of the best things ever.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_00]: Do you have tea mobile as your carrier for for your phone?
- 42:55[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_02]: My fiance does, so she lets me have the MLB on my phone.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the MLB TV app or log-in credentials.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, what a great promotion that is, right?
- 43:07[SPEAKER_00]: That thing costs $160 this year, and you get it for free if you have T-Mobile.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_00]: That's just awesome.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_02]: And I watch every single game-off.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a complete psycho.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_00]: yeah that's uh yeah during during baseball season i usually just watch the score but uh the box scores during the week and then i watch friday saturday and sunday all the games you know because i'm usually doing something else and you know baseball season tends to coincide with the draft and you know the hockey playoffs and all that stuff so but i do watch a lot i watch plenty i do get plenty out of that mopi dot tv app
- 43:46[SPEAKER_00]: All right, that's it.
