Speaker 1: yard practice shots. It's a great place to chip and
• 0:16
Speaker 1: putt and practice. If you don't have time for a

• 0:23
Speaker 1: dot org, golf dot Breck dot org. On Monday, a
• 0:27
Speaker 1: lot of us woke up to the news that as
• 0:30
Speaker 1: the NFL's legal tampering period was set to begin, the
• 0:34
Speaker 1: New Orleans Saints worked out a deal with the New
• 0:36
Speaker 1: England Patriots to bring Devon Gotschaw home.
• 0:39
Speaker 2: To the Saints. And I think this is.
• 0:43
Speaker 1: A really good move, and not just because it's a
• 0:49
Speaker 1: former LSU player. I think this checks just about every
• 0:55
Speaker 1: box that you could possibly want to check for New Orleans, considering,
• 1:01
Speaker 1: you know, the state of the roster, of the salary cap, everything.
• 1:06
Speaker 1: So let's go through it here. Gotschaw is thirty years old.
• 1:13
Speaker 1: He's entering his ninth NFL season, so he's played eight years.
• 1:18
Speaker 1: He's played in one hundred and twenty games over his
• 1:23
Speaker 1: eight season and each of the last four years in
• 1:28
Speaker 1: New England as a starter. He's played in all seventeen
• 1:31
Speaker 1: games last four years, has not missed a single game
• 1:35
Speaker 1: with the New England Patriots, and he's made sixty seven
• 1:39
Speaker 1: starts of the sixty eight games he's played in in
• 1:42
Speaker 1: New England, so he has been durable.
• 1:45
Speaker 2: What did Mike d always say?
• 1:47
Speaker 1: The best ability is availability, and Devon Gotshaw has been available.
• 1:51
Speaker 2: Okay, that's one number two.
• 1:56
Speaker 1: If you're from here and you remember Gotchaw as a
• 1:59
Speaker 1: prep back athlete at Placuaman, I'll never forget this because
• 2:03
Speaker 1: it was such an unorthodox situation. But Gotschall was a
• 2:08
Speaker 1: defensive end at Placuamen and his senior year of high school,
• 2:11
Speaker 1: tore As ACL comes to LSU as a freshman, coming
• 2:17
Speaker 1: as a freshman coming off a torn ACL where he
• 2:20
Speaker 1: played defensive end, and they moved him inside to play
• 2:22
Speaker 1: defensive tackle. That was the twenty fourteen season where they
• 2:26
Speaker 1: were very thin on the interior. In twenty fourteen, the
• 2:31
Speaker 1: most experienced defensive tackle they had was a true sophomore
• 2:35
Speaker 1: in Christian Lockeacher. They were thin and inexperienced, and Gotschaw
• 2:39
Speaker 1: stepped in as a true freshman, changed positions and played
• 2:43
Speaker 1: pretty well, and then as we know, he became a
• 2:47
Speaker 1: very good interior player. Ultimately went and got drafted by
• 2:50
Speaker 1: the Dolphins in twenty seventeen, and after spending he was
• 2:54
Speaker 1: a fifth round pick. After spending four seasons in Miami,
• 2:57
Speaker 1: he goes to New England, where he spent the last
• 2:59
Speaker 1: four season and has been a very good player.
• 3:01
Speaker 2: But what's notable about Gotchyall.
• 3:03
Speaker 1: Is he ain't looked nothing like to du to sign
• 3:06
Speaker 1: with the LSU back in twenty fourteen. Devane got Yall
• 3:09
Speaker 1: right now is six' three three. Thirty, dude is.
• 3:17
  Speaker 2: My.
• 3:18
Speaker 1: Guy ain't missed many meals HE'S i mean the buffet.
• 3:21
Speaker 1: Line they see him coming and they run and high
• 3:23
Speaker 1: three point thirty And i'm not throwing. Shade but he
• 3:27
Speaker 1: has moved to be an interior zero technique. Nos and
• 3:31
Speaker 1: remember this is the other thing THAT i like about
• 3:33
Speaker 1: this a. Lot not only has he been, durable but
• 3:37
Speaker 1: With Brandon staley coming in after The saints have run
• 3:41
Speaker 1: effectively a four to three for as long As Dennis
• 3:43
Speaker 1: allen's been, here really for as Long Sean payton was.
• 3:45
Speaker 1: There Brandon staley is more of a three to four,
• 3:50
Speaker 1: base so you gotta have this zero technique, nos which
• 3:54
Speaker 1: you don't have Like Brian brasi might be able to.
• 3:57
Speaker 2: Play that probably, could BUT i.
• 4:00
Speaker 1: Don't know that that's the highest and best use Of
• 4:01
Speaker 1: Brian berzi's. Ability Colin, saunders who's twenty eight years, Old Nathan,
• 4:09
Speaker 1: shepherd who's thirty one years, old or on the. Roster monday,
• 4:14
Speaker 1: later we found The saints Extended Nathan. Sheppard he was
• 4:17
Speaker 1: set to count seven million against the cap this. Year
• 4:20
Speaker 1: so we'll see the terms of that deal when it comes,
• 4:23
Speaker 1: out but in giving him a contract extension it probably
• 4:25
Speaker 1: gives you at kap relief here in twenty twenty, five
• 4:27
Speaker 1: but it Shows sheppard will be. Back we'll see About
• 4:29
Speaker 1: Colin sanders what they do. There but this is a
• 4:33
Speaker 1: guy that fits truly a skill set that fits what
• 4:37
Speaker 1: you're trying to do defensively With Brandon. Staley so you
• 4:43
Speaker 1: get a durable guy who fits what you're looking to.
• 4:46
  Speaker 1: Do he's a two down. Lineman he's not a third
• 4:50
Speaker 1: down a third down. Lineman he's a two down run stuffing.
• 4:52
Speaker 1: Lineman remember The New Orleans saints were the second worst
• 4:56
Speaker 1: run defense in THE nfl in twenty twenty, four allowing
• 4:59
Speaker 1: one hundred forty one yards a. Game so you were
• 5:02
Speaker 1: the second worst run defense in the, league and you
• 5:04
Speaker 1: added a, big three hundred and thirty pound run stuffing
• 5:07
Speaker 1: defensive tackle who has been a durable player during his
• 5:10
Speaker 1: eight years in THE.
• 5:11
  Speaker 2: Nfl check check.
• 5:13
Speaker 1: Check, also he's, affordable and this is something that we
• 5:19
Speaker 1: have to consider it with every roster move that The
• 5:21
Speaker 1: New Orleans saints make because of their cap. Situation The
• 5:24
Speaker 1: saints traded a seventh round pick for De Von, gotchab
• 5:30
  Speaker 1: and it's not just a seventh round. Pick it's a
• 5:33
Speaker 1: twenty twenty six seventh round, pick so not even in
• 5:37
Speaker 1: this year's. Draft it's next year's. Seven so who knows
• 5:42
Speaker 1: what you may do with respect to compensatory picks or
• 5:46
Speaker 1: whatever between now and next year's draft to where you
• 5:50
Speaker 1: can make up that draft. Capital you need to make
• 5:52
Speaker 1: other trades make up that draft. Capital point being giving
• 5:55
Speaker 1: up a, seven which usually is a flyer on a guy,
• 5:58
Speaker 1: anyway for a guy that it's been a notable, starter
• 6:01
Speaker 1: a durable, starter a run stuffer in a position that
• 6:03
Speaker 1: you don't currently have field on your roster because of
• 6:06
Speaker 1: what your new defensive coordinator would like to. Do check check,
• 6:08
Speaker 1: check check. Check and then the last, thing but it's
• 6:12
Speaker 1: worth noting is that.
• 6:13
Speaker 2: It's a cool story because he's from. Here like.
• 6:15
Speaker 1: That you don't lead with, that like you don't go
• 6:17
Speaker 1: do a deal For Devon gotchab because he played At
• 6:20
Speaker 1: plaquemin and AT. Lsu the fact that he is from
• 6:24
Speaker 1: here is just a cool anecdote THAT i think adds
• 6:29
Speaker 1: more a little more emotion to, this And I'm i'm
• 6:34
Speaker 1: good with. It you, Know gotshall's a guy that played At,
• 6:39
Speaker 1: plaquimen played collegiately AT, lsu and now he's going to
• 6:42
Speaker 1: play for The. Saints and Actually gotshaw tweeted earlier today
• 6:46
Speaker 1: if you missed, it home is where the heart. Is
• 6:49
Speaker 1: excited to be coming home and playing for the Great
• 6:51
Speaker 1: state Of. Louisiana a dream come true to play in
• 6:54
Speaker 1: high school, ball college, ball now THE nfl in the same.
• 6:57
Speaker 1: State so ready for this opportunity to play in front
• 6:59
Speaker 1: of the hood At. Nation god makes no. Mistake let's
• 7:02
Speaker 1: go with a bunch Of Florida lie emojis and then
• 7:04
Speaker 1: pretty cool graphic as well that they posted For gotshaw
• 7:07
  Speaker 1: in The saints.
• 7:07
Speaker 2: UNIFORM i love. It he's fired up for.
• 7:10
Speaker 1: It there's a fan component of this where you're gonna
• 7:13
Speaker 1: get some juice out of.
• 7:14
  Speaker 2: IT i like.
• 7:15
Speaker 1: It and, LOOK i, mean we've joked for a long
• 7:19
Speaker 1: time about The saints and their lack of interest IN lsu,
• 7:22
Speaker 1: players but it's proving not to be the, case, Man,
• 7:26
Speaker 1: Tyron Matthew, Jarvis Landry, Foster. Moro last year they Brought
• 7:30
Speaker 1: Clyde Edwards eiliy in midseason they just resigned him as.
• 7:33
Speaker 1: Well and Now Devin. GOTSHAW i love, it, man it
• 7:36
Speaker 1: checks so many. BOXES i don't necessarily have a negative
• 7:39
Speaker 1: thing to say about. This and we can look At gotchaw's,
• 7:44
Speaker 1: contract which in twenty twenty five he'll carry a five
• 7:49
Speaker 1: million dollar cap, hit and in twenty twenty six that
• 7:51
Speaker 1: number seven point five. Million but very likely The saints
• 7:54
Speaker 1: are gonna do what they always. Do they're gonna restructure
• 7:57
Speaker 1: this deal to get a lower cap hit this year
• 8:00
Speaker 1: next and then kick money into future. Years it's just
• 8:02
Speaker 1: how The saints go about doing. Business so you're gonna
• 8:05
Speaker 1: add he'll probably end up this Is i'm guessing.
• 8:08
  Speaker 2: Here i'm.
• 8:09
Speaker 1: SPECULATING i don't know, this but my guess is they'll
• 8:12
Speaker 1: restructure this contract and ultimately have him this year on
• 8:18
Speaker 1: a veteran minimum salary against the, cap kicking money into future,
• 8:22
Speaker 1: years so it's going to be affordable this. Year you
• 8:26
Speaker 1: only had to give up a seven to get a
• 8:28
Speaker 1: starting caliber a future, seven to give up a starting
• 8:30
Speaker 1: caliber player who's been, durable who's a run, stuffer who
• 8:33
Speaker 1: plays a position in the defense that you need to
• 8:36
Speaker 1: add into this, ROSTER a veteran guy who's from the
• 8:39
Speaker 1: state Of, louisiana who's.
• 8:40
  Speaker 2: Excited to come.
• 8:40
Speaker 1: Home, like there's a lot of things about this that
• 8:43
Speaker 1: make a lot of. Sense And i'll give The saints
• 8:45
Speaker 1: front office, credit give him hat. TIP i think that
• 8:47
Speaker 1: this was a very prudent move for a good player
• 8:50
Speaker 1: to position. NEED i think it checks every box And
• 8:52
Speaker 1: i'm pretty excited for.
• 8:53
  Speaker 3: It.
• 8:53
Speaker 1: Man so Congrats. DEVON i got ya coming home out Of.
• 8:57
Speaker 1: Louisiana he'll play for The New Orleans, saints which is
• 8:59
Speaker 1: an awesome. Thing by the, way here Was Bill. Belichick
• 9:02
Speaker 1: this is back in twenty twenty. One this Is Bill
• 9:05
Speaker 1: belichick in twenty twenty one talking About.
• 9:07
  Speaker 2: Devon.
• 9:07
Speaker 3: Gotcha, yeah But, devan it's been a really, good good
• 9:10
Speaker 3: player FOR. Us he's shown a lot of versatility and
• 9:13
Speaker 3: playing on the, center on the guard in the two
• 9:16
Speaker 3: or three technique and then out on the offensive tackle
• 9:18
Speaker 3: in a four or five. Technique pass RUSH i think
• 9:21
Speaker 3: has really improved this year is transition being able to
• 9:24
Speaker 3: play the run and then when it's a play action.
• 9:26
Speaker 3: Passed the transition from a run technique to a pass.
• 9:29
  Speaker 2: Technique.
• 9:29
Speaker 3: Plays you, know has a lot of, strength a lot of,
• 9:31
Speaker 3: toughness runs, well it has good, quickness and again it's
• 9:34
Speaker 3: a very instinctive. Player he understands blocking schemes and blocking,
• 9:38
Speaker 3: patterns and you know it does a real good. Job,
• 9:40
Speaker 3: yeah he's been a great. Addition glad we have.
• 9:42
Speaker 1: Him It's Bill belichick and that's the great coach of all.
• 9:47
Speaker 1: Time lauding de Von, GOTCHA i mean's. Good that was
• 9:49
Speaker 1: twenty twenty, one this four years. Ago that Was december
• 9:52
Speaker 1: of twenty was about three and a half years, ago
• 9:55
Speaker 1: but still a good addition for The New Orleans. Saints
