- 0:26Speaker 3: Previously in the City of Bones. And the first thing
- 0:43Speaker 3: Jamie is.
- 0:43Speaker 4: Going to think is.
- 0:46Speaker 3: I need a better costume.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Welcome in looking for a table.
- 0:51Speaker 1: No, we're looking not exactly someone a Taylor. I think Sasha.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Martin uh Mar about to go on listen meet me
- 1:03Speaker 2: at my flat in an hour. I have a lot
- 1:05Speaker 2: of work left to do. Quanta, as you are running away,
- 1:10Speaker 2: do me one more scan?
- 1:12Speaker 3: Yes?
- 1:15Speaker 1: Three?
- 1:16Speaker 2: I rolled a one. You reach out again towards this building.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Something inside you, almost involuntary response, reaches out to see
- 1:27Speaker 2: this whole space. At the very north end of this building,
- 1:32Speaker 2: there's an immense space underground. You'd maybe be the only
- 1:37Speaker 2: person in the world who could find this place without
- 1:40Speaker 2: some kind of ground penetrating radar. And there's a hidden
- 1:43Speaker 2: elevator at the end of this lab.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I just think the womb.
- 1:50Speaker 2: It can't be another vision. Has this ever happened to
- 1:53Speaker 2: any day before? You don't think so. You're too old.
- 1:56Speaker 2: You already had yours. Your head crests the surf fish
- 2:00Speaker 2: you see day countless day, drifting and hanging as though
- 2:06Speaker 2: attached to invisible strings motionless.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Many chance we can wake him up. I kick him
- 2:14Speaker 1: a little bit. Yeah, you're both humans, So if you
- 2:18Speaker 1: wanted to put some of your blood right there, sorry,
- 2:24Speaker 1: we could, Yeah, if you I like point to the
- 2:30Speaker 1: port on his back. As far as I know, human
- 2:36Speaker 1: blood goes in there.
- 2:52Speaker 2: The southeastern quadrant of New Babel, the Kansas part of
- 2:57Speaker 2: the city called Sass, is known for its bohemian atmosphere.
- 3:04Speaker 2: It's known to be the best place in the whole
- 3:06Speaker 2: city to find food, art, and sex. Jamir's house, the
- 3:11Speaker 2: mysterious gift from his grandmother, is also in Sas. It's
- 3:16Speaker 2: in one of the more southern neighborhoods called Lowtown. You
- 3:21Speaker 2: find yourself a little bit north of there on the
- 3:24Speaker 2: famed Crow Street. It is the Bourbon Street of New Babbel.
- 3:29Speaker 2: The energy is infectious and the humanity is exposed. The
- 3:34Speaker 2: three of you stand in the buzzing street outside the
- 3:38Speaker 2: bar a glass of sass. After briefly meeting with Taylor,
- 3:42Speaker 2: she told you to meet her at her flat in
- 3:44Speaker 2: an hour. Is there anything you guys want to do
- 3:48Speaker 2: on Crow Street in that time?
- 3:50Speaker 3: Jimmie would probably say, look, I will Yeah, I look
- 3:54Speaker 3: at you guys, and say, you guys wanna I mean,
- 3:57Speaker 3: wear masked. You want to patrol bit, make sure everybody's safe.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Yeah, might as well patrol for some music, art or
- 4:08Speaker 1: sex or crime? Crime? Well crime, we're talking about crime.
- 4:13Speaker 1: I think he was talking about crime. I'm looking for crime.
- 4:16Speaker 3: What's the But we got an hour, So if you
- 4:18Speaker 3: want to, you know, pop off, do what you gotta
- 4:22Speaker 3: to get don geminator or that's how that's that's.
- 4:27Speaker 1: How I do.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Yeah, phantom please, Yeah, I'm blushing a three hole punch.
- 4:37Speaker 3: I summon a flight to tart. I say, do you
- 4:40Speaker 3: need a ride to quant.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Now I'll go my own way and I cool meet you.
- 4:45Speaker 3: You guys are now.
- 4:46Speaker 5: Lightning, and I'll whoop up a kite and float up
- 4:51Speaker 5: to the roofs.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Jamr buzzes on.
- 4:54Speaker 2: I'll launch into the city sky. Are we staying in
- 4:58Speaker 2: this area kind of the row the crows hold neighborhood?
- 5:02Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 5:03Speaker 2: Awesome. Go ahead and roll a sense check or an investigate.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Check, of course, empowering with my scan, opening my senses
- 5:13Speaker 1: to feel all the feelings around me. And I rolled
- 5:16Speaker 1: two ones. That's a two.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Can I empower with some paper? Since people's paper? Hell yeah,
- 5:26Speaker 3: they're IDs and yeah, documents.
- 5:29Speaker 5: If they've got a piece of paper in their pocket,
- 5:31Speaker 5: that says don't help the crime to crime.
- 5:35Speaker 1: To my list of crimes. I'm trying to imagine. I mean,
- 5:38Speaker 1: I know that New Bible is a very different world
- 5:40Speaker 1: from ours, but like, how often do I just have
- 5:42Speaker 1: paper on or near me? Usually it's a bud.
- 5:47Speaker 3: I didn't have a notes app. I bet I would
- 5:50Speaker 3: have a Notepads are certainly people's little shadows. Yeah. I
- 5:55Speaker 3: used to absolutely have one of those milk eggs.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Crime, you know, steal stuff. I got a seven?
- 6:03Speaker 2: Hurt people, Jimmy or what did you get?
- 6:05Speaker 3: I got a three?
- 6:06Speaker 2: You guys zip around this area for about an hour,
- 6:10Speaker 2: Quanta and Rigel. You guys aren't really able to see anything.
- 6:15Speaker 2: You interact with the people of Crow's Hold, who are
- 6:17Speaker 2: just absolutely partying. It's like probably like a Wednesday night
- 6:21Speaker 2: or something weird, like they're always going crazy. Alcohol is
- 6:25Speaker 2: not supposed to be legal right now, but you get
- 6:28Speaker 2: the vibe that in crows Hold that doesn't matter.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Wait wait, alcohol is not legal after hours after seven people.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Yeah, there's like a prohibition curfew.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Yes, set, I forgot about that. I'm sorry.
- 6:40Speaker 2: No, don't be sorry after seven and on the weekends.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Yeah, we came up with that altogether. Yeah, we did
- 6:46Speaker 1: that to ourselves.
- 6:48Speaker 2: The people in the shoot obviously don't care. Yes, yes,
- 6:53Speaker 2: you're probably not doing business as a bar if you're
- 6:55Speaker 2: not serving alcohol past seven. But anyways, all the low
- 6:59Speaker 2: So you all notice that kind of quote unquote criminal
- 7:02Speaker 2: element happening, Jason, You fly over is a little bit
- 7:09Speaker 2: removed from Crow's Street, maybe a couple blocks away, but
- 7:13Speaker 2: it is a very elegant looking brothel. There are women
- 7:19Speaker 2: on the porch of this house. It's like a kind
- 7:23Speaker 2: of a big manor type house with a wrap around porch.
- 7:28Speaker 2: It's kind of weird, isolated in this part of the city,
- 7:31Speaker 2: draping across the porch there on chairs and things. But
- 7:36Speaker 2: they're not overly sensualized or sexualized. They're dressed beautifully, and
- 7:43Speaker 2: you do notice a little bit of a little bit
- 7:48Speaker 2: of a ruckus coming from inside.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll glide over, maybe to the neighboring balcony shrouded
- 7:57Speaker 1: in paper, and we'll see if I can, if I
- 7:59Speaker 1: can hemps through a window, see if I catch what's
- 8:02Speaker 1: going up.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Here's what you see. I think, I think if you're
- 8:05Speaker 2: not gonna like go in or bust in. This is
- 8:08Speaker 2: what happens, is what you see on your seven.
- 8:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not prepared to bust in to bust in
- 8:13Speaker 5: over a ruckus.
- 8:15Speaker 2: None of us are busting up over a ruckus. Yeah,
- 8:18Speaker 2: at least not. You know, it's it's a Wednesday. Yeah,
- 8:21Speaker 2: it's a Wednesday. There's a burly man who you see
- 8:25Speaker 2: marching down some stairs inside past a window, holding another
- 8:30Speaker 2: man behind. This is one of the women who is
- 8:36Speaker 2: holding her face as those who's been struck. The front
- 8:39Speaker 2: door opens up, the man is hurled out onto the street.
- 8:46Speaker 2: The burly man comes out. He says, tell your friends,
- 8:50Speaker 2: not in Sophia's house. He takes a gun and shoots
- 8:54Speaker 2: this guy through the hand.
- 9:06Speaker 5: Cool, I let all this fly. Sounds like this guy
- 9:11Speaker 5: got what he deserved. I don't know, right through the hand.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Ye.
- 9:15Speaker 5: Well, justice is done, and I glide away.
- 9:27Speaker 2: You all glide back to the apartment high rise where
- 9:31Speaker 2: you have the address.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I don't glide. I strike a few blocks away and
- 9:37Speaker 1: then do my best to just like parkour across the
- 9:42Speaker 1: roof so that I'm not drawing attention to their apartment.
- 9:45Speaker 5: Yeah, and I don't glide. I turned into a big
- 9:48Speaker 5: paper tumbleweed and just roll unfurlsed by the door. I'm
- 9:54Speaker 5: glide it.
- 9:57Speaker 1: A rule follower, someone's got a glide.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Someone's lying you all. Come just to the foyer of
- 10:05Speaker 2: this building.
- 10:07Speaker 1: No, I enter through the roof.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Did they say? What? Did they say? Which unit they
- 10:11Speaker 3: were in there on the very top?
- 10:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I entered through the roof.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I would definitely land on the roof and
- 10:16Speaker 3: try to knock on the roof access to her.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I mean Rachel high?
- 10:21Speaker 3: Yeah, is Phantom behind?
- 10:23Speaker 1: I think that's him down there down the street.
- 10:27Speaker 3: I see the tumble boll. You guys up there wave
- 10:34Speaker 3: I'll sit down a flight star? Can I control a
- 10:38Speaker 3: flight star at that distance? You know, like sending it
- 10:41Speaker 3: down to the bottom?
- 10:42Speaker 2: Ben, I think, or sorry, Jimmy, or I think this
- 10:45Speaker 2: is your first time trying to branch a power?
- 10:48Speaker 3: Oh shit, let's go right, I think, yes, I have
- 10:53Speaker 3: not tried to do that before. Yes, yeah, making like
- 10:57Speaker 3: platforms for other people, Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 11:00Speaker 1: An elevator, an elevator trying.
- 11:02Speaker 3: To send it that far away from me and then
- 11:05Speaker 3: gently pull it back, I think, And I'll leave this
- 11:08Speaker 3: up to you. So the idea behind branching power is
- 11:11Speaker 3: that you try to do something with your powers that's
- 11:13Speaker 3: a little bit outside of what you initially intended them for.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Would you say this qualifies. It doesn't have to. If
- 11:18Speaker 3: you imagined that this is something you could do, then
- 11:22Speaker 3: I imagined I could do it because it's well, I
- 11:27Speaker 3: guess I never imagine, like, what's the I have the
- 11:30Speaker 3: range of, like how many els I can move on
- 11:34Speaker 3: a flight star. I never thought about how far away
- 11:38Speaker 3: I could be from a flight star, So I have
- 11:41Speaker 3: not conceived of this in terms of like could I
- 11:46Speaker 3: send this thing down however many flights this building is
- 11:51Speaker 3: and then kind of bring it back up? Got it?
- 11:53Speaker 2: Well, then yeah, let's let's do it. This is a
- 11:55Speaker 2: branching power. So for a branching power to succeed, you
- 11:58Speaker 2: have to succeed on a tight Tannic check, then a
- 12:01Speaker 2: godly check, then an epic check. Once you've done all
- 12:04Speaker 2: of those, you get to just kind of do this
- 12:06Speaker 2: from here on out. Okay, So the first time you're
- 12:10Speaker 2: ever trying it is a Titanic check, which means I'm
- 12:12Speaker 2: rolling a D twenty and a D eight. You will
- 12:16Speaker 2: be rolling your flight star die as well. As a
- 12:20Speaker 2: skilled dye. I'm going to give you mite because you're
- 12:24Speaker 2: trying to lift someone else with it.
- 12:26Speaker 3: Oh that's my D twenty.
- 12:28Speaker 2: What are you rolling D twenty? And what D twenty
- 12:31Speaker 2: and a D four? Oh bye? Sixteen plus one is seventeen.
- 12:36Speaker 2: I rolled a twelve plus a five, which is also
- 12:39Speaker 2: seventeen in team up, that is a very near fail.
- 12:46Speaker 3: You tie you cry, Oh.
- 12:48Speaker 1: You tie you cry, tie you cry, And that's real good.
- 12:52Speaker 2: That's our new thing. So you push a flight star
- 12:58Speaker 2: down many men any flights. This is probably ten stories
- 13:02Speaker 2: at least, probably more, and it's probably more than ten stories, well,
- 13:10Speaker 2: probably more.
- 13:12Speaker 1: In this world you built, it's probably yeah, I.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Don't have to be exact perfect about it. You know,
- 13:18Speaker 2: there's some trees, there's some fucking stuff. There's building, there's
- 13:22Speaker 2: buildings and trees. God damn it, there's parks and dirt
- 13:27Speaker 2: probably probably god damn. You reach your hand, Jimmy, or
- 13:34Speaker 2: how do you do this when you when you.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Gesticulate my my hands down. As I bending over the edge,
- 13:43Speaker 3: realizing like, oh this is kind of hard. As the
- 13:46Speaker 3: flight star gets further and further away, I'm trying to
- 13:50Speaker 3: keep it from fizzling. But I'm also trying to keep
- 13:53Speaker 3: it level some kind of moving my hands as I
- 13:57Speaker 3: feel like it's going a little bit far down on
- 13:59Speaker 3: the left. I have a little bit too much up
- 14:01Speaker 3: on the right of trying to keep it level and
- 14:04Speaker 3: keep it summoned as I send it away from me,
- 14:08Speaker 3: and I'll just step.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Right on it casually. Oh sweet, flight Star.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Nice, and you do start lifting Jason up and up and.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Up, and I'm pulling back and pulling al training my hands,
- 14:21Speaker 3: pulling them to it myself as I'm leaning over the
- 14:23Speaker 3: side of this building.
- 14:25Speaker 2: It's a little rickety, Jason, but you are moving up
- 14:28Speaker 2: this building. As soon as he gets eye level with you,
- 14:31Speaker 2: Jimir the flight Star goes.
- 14:33Speaker 5: Out, I'll reach out and try and grab the ledge
- 14:37Speaker 5: just to setaty myself at the edge of the building's roof.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Yeah, roll a ready check, and Jamiir you can roll
- 14:44Speaker 2: a mite check too, to try to grab him. Oh, motherfucker,
- 14:50Speaker 2: it's ten. I also got a ten now, So together,
- 14:55Speaker 2: you guys beat my two. You grab Jason by the
- 14:57Speaker 2: wrists and haul onto the roof.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Hey, nice, flight Star. Yeah, try to kind of a
- 15:03Speaker 3: new thing there. Hey, you'll get there, Okay, let's talk
- 15:10Speaker 3: to this celebrity. I guess I feel a little on the.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Other side of the roof with her headphones on, just
- 15:16Speaker 1: like rocket, just quietly vibing out, facing away from any
- 15:22Speaker 1: of Yeah.
- 15:24Speaker 3: As we come over, right, just kind of tab quad.
- 15:26Speaker 3: You ready for the.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I'm ready to take off my headphones.
- 15:30Speaker 2: There is a beautiful ceiling window here, skylight.
- 15:35Speaker 3: Peek in, rub.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Rubbing the glass with my fists outside it was your eyeballs,
- 15:45Speaker 1: you peaking. That is also how it sounds on day. Eyeballs.
- 15:51Speaker 3: Oh sure, yeah, they're probably pretty dry. The Taylor's nectar nectar.
- 15:58Speaker 2: The Taylor looks up from her kitchen and waves and
- 16:03Speaker 2: then gestures to come on in.
- 16:05Speaker 3: We find a ladch on the side of the skylight.
- 16:08Speaker 3: I hold it open and I'll yeah, I'll if this
- 16:13Speaker 3: is just like fifteen feet, so I'll just create a
- 16:15Speaker 3: flight star for you, for all of us. It will
- 16:17Speaker 3: just fly on down.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Yeah. As you are hovering down, the Taylor starts to
- 16:22Speaker 2: kind of small clap. Oh my gosh, this is just amazing.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Look at you. Look at you guys. You're flying.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Oh my god, thank you, thank you.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Okay, okay, have a seat. This is so exciting, so important, right, important, right, yes, yes,
- 16:44Speaker 2: this actually is pretty important. You're right, Oh, I know.
- 16:47Speaker 2: I'm so excited to be a part of this. Thank you,
- 16:50Speaker 2: by the way, thank you for letting me be a
- 16:52Speaker 2: part of this. Here, sit down right here, Okay, this
- 16:55Speaker 2: is kind of how I was dreaming about it. If
- 16:57Speaker 2: the three of you would sit here my sofa and
- 17:01Speaker 2: then mohitos for the.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Night or just just water for me, I'll take one, okay,
- 17:10Speaker 1: I'm on the very edge of the couch with my
- 17:12Speaker 1: hands on my knees.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Really, the costumes are for them. I'll I'll mohito up.
- 17:17Speaker 2: All right for you, and another for you, dear, like
- 17:20Speaker 2: maybe I can do a hurricane.
- 17:22Speaker 3: I think I have grenadine, just water.
- 17:26Speaker 2: I'm okay, very well. The tailor goes off to the
- 17:31Speaker 2: kitchen and starts to it's a big, open floor flat.
- 17:35Speaker 2: It's beautiful in here, gorgeous exposed brick and faux pillars
- 17:41Speaker 2: on the walls, and she starts mixing drinks.
- 17:44Speaker 1: For you, Rachel, do you think I shouldn't?
- 17:47Speaker 3: I mean, I'm not drinking anything suspicious, so I'll make
- 17:52Speaker 3: sure it's all. I don't doubt this person, but you know,
- 17:56Speaker 3: just to be extra safe, right, not taking drinks from strangers,
- 18:01Speaker 3: you know?
- 18:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I should know, but I didn't think of that.
- 18:05Speaker 5: Jason's paper folds back. Hey, Jimmy, are you old enough
- 18:08Speaker 5: to drink? My name is Rachel. Are you old enough
- 18:12Speaker 5: to drink?
- 18:14Speaker 3: Yes?
- 18:15Speaker 4: Reallyel Rachel just glares through his through his rag at
- 18:23Speaker 4: Jason and just is like, you gotta stop.
- 18:26Speaker 1: You got so she's not in between them anymore. You're
- 18:32Speaker 1: still mad? You're still mad that I borrowed the book?
- 18:34Speaker 3: Yes I'm mad? No, well yes, also about that. I'm
- 18:39Speaker 3: more mad about you using my real fucking name out
- 18:42Speaker 3: and about man. Sure this is a secret idea. Do
- 18:45Speaker 3: you see the mask? Do you know how many Jumiirs
- 18:48Speaker 3: there are in the city? There's not a ton?
- 18:50Speaker 1: Okay, I don't know.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Sorry, well, oh yeah, yeah you should be sorry. You're
- 18:55Speaker 3: gonna get me or someone I love fucking killed? Man?
- 18:58Speaker 1: Well, I'll kill whoever, I promise. No.
- 19:01Speaker 3: That doesn't help, That doesn't help, that doesn't bring them back,
- 19:05Speaker 3: That doesn't make anything right.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Okay, Sorry, geez apology?
- 19:10Speaker 3: Uh thought about for now?
- 19:14Speaker 2: So are we doing your story first of mine?
- 19:18Speaker 3: Yours?
- 19:20Speaker 2: Oh? Wonderful? No, I can't wait, I'll tell you everything
- 19:24Speaker 2: you want to know, because this is all so exciting
- 19:27Speaker 2: and so new for me. My grandma you probably heard
- 19:30Speaker 2: about her, was a beloved performer in crows Hold. She
- 19:34Speaker 2: was like a part of this town, you know, like
- 19:38Speaker 2: like the streets a part of the town, or that
- 19:41Speaker 2: one brothel, Sophia's place is a part of the town.
- 19:43Speaker 2: It's like, if you're gonna be in crows Hold, you're
- 19:46Speaker 2: going to see the tailor, you know what I mean.
- 19:48Speaker 1: And her name we all politely not.
- 19:51Speaker 2: I'm like what And her name was Sasha, And well
- 19:56Speaker 2: before she got too old to do the job, she
- 19:59Speaker 2: kind of all that. I had an interest in the
- 20:02Speaker 2: whole show Girl Live, and so I became the tailor
- 20:07Speaker 2: when she got two, weak and weary to do the work.
- 20:12Speaker 2: The city needs me, you know, needs her, needs the
- 20:16Speaker 2: mantle tailor mantle. Yes.
- 20:19Speaker 3: Cool.
- 20:19Speaker 2: So some people, the old drunkards, mostly think that the
- 20:24Speaker 2: original tailor is still around, if you know what I mean.
- 20:28Speaker 2: But clearly I am. I'm a man, and I'm younger,
- 20:33Speaker 2: a long, livid, preternaturally so good to know. There's a
- 20:38Speaker 2: lot of magic about these days. You well, And that's
- 20:41Speaker 2: the fun part about your story. I saw you in
- 20:44Speaker 2: the papers, and I'd wondered, is that real or is
- 20:48Speaker 2: that just some crazy tabloid? But it was on the tower,
- 20:51Speaker 2: so it seems like that's real.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Yes, we're real.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Well, isn't that something? She keeps eyeing the paper phantom
- 21:00Speaker 2: and has the little flower behind his ear.
- 21:03Speaker 5: At this point that Jason has just a tiny hole
- 21:06Speaker 5: in his face mask for a straw, and it's like
- 21:09Speaker 5: chugging him a heido.
- 21:14Speaker 2: And then the other thing that I inherited from my
- 21:16Speaker 2: lovely grandma was the relationship with the crime lord here
- 21:21Speaker 2: in Sas? What the crime lord here in Sas? You
- 21:27Speaker 2: guys don't know? Oh my, are you you're new? I'm sure,
- 21:31Speaker 2: well you were just in the papers. You must be new.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we're actually very new to this.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Please say war.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Well, there's Sophia el Dante, the Russian matriarch. I make
- 21:43Speaker 2: her dresses. I guess it's not my favorite part of
- 21:46Speaker 2: the part of it all, but it pays well. And
- 21:48Speaker 2: it's like, if I don't make the dresses, she'll kill me.
- 21:51Speaker 2: So and I do great work and she is fabulous.
- 21:56Speaker 1: And she refers to herself as the crime Lord of Seas.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Oh I don't know.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Perhaps, are there any like photos floating around this apartment,
- 22:09Speaker 3: like any photos, frame photos at all?
- 22:11Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 22:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you see some art on the walls.
- 22:15Speaker 2: She is a design artist, so that I think that
- 22:19Speaker 2: there are images of beautiful design on the walls.
- 22:23Speaker 3: I guess specifically, what I'm wondering is, are there would
- 22:26Speaker 3: I recognize anyone?
- 22:28Speaker 5: Is she like well connected? Does she know anyone else
- 22:30Speaker 5: in the city that we would maybe know?
- 22:33Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Okay, totally fair.
- 22:35Speaker 2: But here's the craziest part is that you've found me
- 22:40Speaker 2: right now because not a month ago, my little lovelies,
- 22:45Speaker 2: I found a hidden room in my workshop. It was
- 22:49Speaker 2: my old grandma's workshop. I elbow, Jamir, I do not respond.
- 22:55Speaker 2: It's full of old heroes stuff.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Elbow, elbow. Hey, you're elbowing on your way to him, like.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Old old hero stuff. And I don't know, it's like
- 23:06Speaker 2: a hundred years ago. I thought all that was a myth.
- 23:08Speaker 2: But I found proto types and suit labels. I didn't
- 23:13Speaker 2: know the names at first, but I did a little
- 23:15Speaker 2: bit of research and there were things like bright Blade,
- 23:19Speaker 2: the Range War Hero I don't know, and that most
- 23:24Speaker 2: of them were incomplete and there's some interesting materials in
- 23:28Speaker 2: there that Grandma must have been using for them. I've
- 23:32Speaker 2: never heard of it, but it's a fabric that it
- 23:35Speaker 2: was labeled venium laced. Does that mean anything to you?
- 23:39Speaker 2: Would I have heard that phrase in my Superhero You
- 23:43Speaker 2: know that.
- 23:43Speaker 1: We know that Dirk and his siblings question Mark, they
- 23:47Speaker 1: were the Venom Knight.
- 23:49Speaker 2: That would be the only place you've heard that before.
- 23:52Speaker 3: We're a little familiar.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Well, anyway, that's my story. Now you go, And what
- 24:00Speaker 2: should we call me?
- 24:01Speaker 1: Like?
- 24:02Speaker 2: You guys have hero names?
- 24:03Speaker 1: What? Like? What am I? What should I be? You're
- 24:06Speaker 1: the tailor?
- 24:07Speaker 2: Yeah, that's so good because that's like who I really am,
- 24:11Speaker 2: But it's also who who my fake self is. Oh,
- 24:15Speaker 2: I can't wait. If someone really wants to know your
- 24:18Speaker 2: identity and they come to me and put me in
- 24:20Speaker 2: a basement somewhere and you have to come and save me.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Would happen to you?
- 24:27Speaker 2: You're Won't that be fun? Though?
- 24:33Speaker 3: We'll definitely kill anyone who hurts you. Oh my, I
- 24:39Speaker 3: can't promise. Well, I know who my favorite is. She
- 24:43Speaker 3: winks at Jason.
- 24:45Speaker 5: Jason like moves newspaper print around to form like a
- 24:50Speaker 5: smile on the outside.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Of his mask.
- 24:54Speaker 2: I keep saying, she they use all pronouns. Well, how
- 24:58Speaker 2: they look right now is just in no hair and makeup,
- 25:03Speaker 2: and he is generally buzzed cut and he is in
- 25:08Speaker 2: a bright like bright magenta robe and slippers that match
- 25:13Speaker 2: amazing legs crossed sitting across from you. But now, yes,
- 25:17Speaker 2: your stories or what you're willing to tell Maybe you
- 25:21Speaker 2: don't want to tell me, And that's fun too. I
- 25:23Speaker 2: could just have to guess.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Well, we at least myself and Rachel. Here A gestured
- 25:30Speaker 1: to Rachel. We don't I mean you saw.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, I notice, and that's okay. You can't be blamed.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Only some people have the gift. She looks over it.
- 25:46Speaker 5: Jason again, I make a little paper fan to hide
- 25:49Speaker 5: my face.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Yeah, and we've stumbled upon your grandmother's name. Now you
- 25:55Speaker 1: know your grandmother's name in some records from some old heroes. Yes,
- 26:01Speaker 1: and decided to come to see if someone here could
- 26:05Speaker 1: help us. Then seems like your game.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Yes, well, I've been thinking about it for the last
- 26:10Speaker 2: hour since you came to find me, and I am
- 26:13Speaker 2: so excited. It is a new challenge for me.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Well, yeah, my power comes from the stars and my
- 26:28Speaker 3: name Rigel is named after the star.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Have you thought about like star Boy or star Man?
- 26:37Speaker 3: Not seriously?
- 26:38Speaker 2: No, what about starry night? It's famous. I'm very connected
- 26:43Speaker 2: to the name, the name. I've kind of locked in right, sure,
- 26:48Speaker 2: but you could change the night to a k kind
- 26:51Speaker 2: of starry night.
- 26:54Speaker 3: These are fine ideas.
- 26:56Speaker 2: You could carry a sword. I could make you one.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Maybe I do not need a or though that does
- 27:02Speaker 3: sound fun when you say it, what I'm more in
- 27:06Speaker 3: need of and a gesture to my outfit. I need
- 27:10Speaker 3: help with this. This is not sustainable in terms of
- 27:17Speaker 3: fighting crime in this.
- 27:19Speaker 2: So Ragel, do you want a big R on your chest?
- 27:23Speaker 2: Or you have this? No? No, no R? We have
- 27:26Speaker 2: a You have a little half cape here?
- 27:30Speaker 3: Yeah? I like the I is the cape around I
- 27:36Speaker 3: kind of like like not a full cape. I was
- 27:39Speaker 3: thinking of maybe go three quarters nothing crazy, but I
- 27:45Speaker 3: do like this symbol. I know it's a little crudely drawn,
- 27:49Speaker 3: and I gesture to the seven pointed star on my
- 27:53Speaker 3: right peck and on the back of my cape.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Yes, do you wanted bigger on your chest? Store? Simply small?
- 28:02Speaker 2: There as is.
- 28:05Speaker 3: I defer to you. I'm not very knowledgeable in terms
- 28:10Speaker 3: of design.
- 28:13Speaker 2: And what about a dashing belt and maybe some big
- 28:17Speaker 2: old boots.
- 28:19Speaker 3: I like that. That sounds good. Okay, very well. And
- 28:23Speaker 3: do you, my dear, I have electricity powers? Oh yes, delicious.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I can create lightning, and I can I would
- 28:38Speaker 1: like to do a scan of Taylor to see what
- 28:42Speaker 1: they're feeling.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:44Speaker 1: I feel like in this moment, Quanta is like wanting
- 28:48Speaker 1: to show off a little bit and not thinking about
- 28:52Speaker 1: the repercussions of like doing this to somebody who she's
- 28:57Speaker 1: trying to get to know. If that makes sense.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Now, this is an average check I wrote it. Two.
- 29:03Speaker 2: You start scanning through her, and you, I think you
- 29:06Speaker 2: noticed a couple things. You notice the neurons for excitement
- 29:11Speaker 2: are going crazy. She's so excited and just can't like
- 29:14Speaker 2: stand it, but also trying to keep all that at bay. Also,
- 29:19Speaker 2: the creative part of her brain is also going crazy,
- 29:23Speaker 2: just so many ideas flowing through the creative part of
- 29:26Speaker 2: her brain.
- 29:27Speaker 1: But I also can sense the electricity that runs through
- 29:30Speaker 1: all of us. So for example, if I was in
- 29:35Speaker 1: your position, I would be feeling very overwhelmed and intimidated,
- 29:39Speaker 1: but you just seem excited.
- 29:41Speaker 2: That is fascinating. Can you sense my feelings for this
- 29:46Speaker 2: paper mache man over here?
- 29:49Speaker 1: My blushed look down?
- 29:51Speaker 2: How about it, paper man?
- 29:53Speaker 1: What uh?
- 29:56Speaker 3: I don't have sensing powers? I know, well, all of
- 30:01Speaker 3: the stuff that's on the paper in your house. Oh
- 30:04Speaker 3: now I'm gonna blush. Is there any sensitive papers that
- 30:07Speaker 3: I should be sensing?
- 30:09Speaker 5: Of course they're oh, all right, yeah, I'll do I'll
- 30:14Speaker 5: do a sense check for porn.
- 30:16Speaker 2: I don't know what about do a sense roll for paper? Oh,
- 30:22Speaker 2: twelve twelve I rolled it to again on an average check. Wow,
- 30:27Speaker 2: there's all kinds of stuff. I mean, this is someone's house,
- 30:29Speaker 2: so there's you know, deeds to anything that he owns,
- 30:35Speaker 2: to the.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Washing machine, the deed to the blendor.
- 30:37Speaker 3: You kept your washing machine warranty and you don't. You
- 30:41Speaker 3: gotta keep.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Those I like that in this world their deeds.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Ye, sorry, your washing machine, and you don't keep the
- 30:50Speaker 2: deed to your toaster.
- 30:51Speaker 1: I know there's still a tag on your mattress. Well
- 30:54Speaker 1: what am I supposed to do? I know it says
- 30:56Speaker 1: it's illegal to rip it off, but we're not gonna enform.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Is that kind of crime? You do?
- 31:01Speaker 2: Sense? A contract between her and Sophia el Danta that
- 31:06Speaker 2: is binding for her work. That's like the most sensitive thing.
- 31:10Speaker 2: But yeah, there's all kinds of fun porn and stuff. Okay,
- 31:15Speaker 2: sorry I got distracted by the paper mache.
- 31:19Speaker 1: But you the paper claud Lad, the paper clad Lad, Phantom,
- 31:24Speaker 1: paper clad Lad.
- 31:25Speaker 2: And what are you dreaming of?
- 31:27Speaker 1: Dear? Well? I go by Quanta and when I when
- 31:34Speaker 1: I am going about, everyone just kind of appears as
- 31:42Speaker 1: like like these like bright like like stars like auras halos.
- 31:52Speaker 1: And then when I focus in, I can see the
- 31:56Speaker 1: colors start to separate, like when you look at color
- 31:59Speaker 1: through a prism or something, or light through a prism,
- 32:02Speaker 1: and I can see it running through people's bodies. So
- 32:09Speaker 1: I thought it might be kind of interesting. And Quanti
- 32:13Speaker 1: gets like really small and bashful trying to say a
- 32:16Speaker 1: creative idea in front of this amazing creative person.
- 32:19Speaker 2: Kia notices this, leans forward really close to you, grabs
- 32:24Speaker 2: your hand and just says, it's okay, share your ideas.
- 32:30Speaker 2: I know you can sense my feelings, but I have
- 32:33Speaker 2: a gift of that as well. Tell me your dream
- 32:38Speaker 2: and I will make it real.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Well, I thought, maybe like kind of like a map
- 32:50Speaker 1: on my suit of what I can see, and maybe
- 32:54Speaker 1: if it's if it's possible to have it be able
- 32:57Speaker 1: to have lights that I can control.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Oh, that your power interacts with it changes the colors. Yeah, fascinating.
- 33:08Speaker 2: This will be a challenge. You'll have to leave me,
- 33:11Speaker 2: I don't know, a finger or something so that I
- 33:13Speaker 2: can test it. I'm just kidding. Now, don't leave me
- 33:17Speaker 2: a finger. That'd be crazy. But I will need to
- 33:20Speaker 2: test some things with you, all right, Not now, I
- 33:24Speaker 2: need I need time to prepare my God.
- 33:28Speaker 1: By the way, we don't have any money.
- 33:31Speaker 3: Oh, we have a little money, but not we're not rich.
- 33:37Speaker 1: I I don't. I don't have any money.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Well, let's see. I just found a bunch of new
- 33:43Speaker 2: material in my grandma's secret office. So I don't need
- 33:47Speaker 2: money for materials. But your time, My time is worth
- 33:53Speaker 2: a lot, yes, But what you do for me for
- 33:59Speaker 2: this city, I believe, like my grandma, you'll take on
- 34:05Speaker 2: the mantles and the important pillars of this community.
- 34:09Speaker 3: That's our hope.
- 34:10Speaker 1: We want to make the city better. Oh, we can
- 34:14Speaker 1: beat someone up if you want.
- 34:18Speaker 2: I'll think about it, but for now, the first.
- 34:21Speaker 1: One's on the house. Okay, perfect.
- 34:25Speaker 2: I know that my time is valuable, but I only
- 34:28Speaker 2: sing once a week. Value and scarcity, if you know
- 34:32Speaker 2: what I mean. Sure, yeah, economics. So I have thoughts.
- 34:41Speaker 2: I'm making sketches of you in my mind to dream
- 34:45Speaker 2: about tonight. It will take some time.
- 34:49Speaker 3: Of course, of course.
- 34:50Speaker 1: And thank you for even considering doing this for us.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Yes, well, I'm excited. I'm so excited. I'm excited to
- 34:59Speaker 2: see you again. I can't wait for you to me. Yeah,
- 35:04Speaker 2: let me know when you want your own suit, I'll
- 35:07Speaker 2: make some paper stuff.
- 35:09Speaker 1: I think I'm good, all right.
- 35:12Speaker 3: I like fold up my cloak into like a suit
- 35:16Speaker 3: and tie. Okay, I wish I could do that. Well,
- 35:22Speaker 3: be gone, Dede. Is that much work to do? Sure, yeah,
- 35:24Speaker 3: of course yes, I'll sell it a flight star and
- 35:28Speaker 3: hold out my arms for my compatriot Instagram.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Thank you for the drink. I set it down very
- 35:33Speaker 1: carefully on a coaster.
- 35:35Speaker 2: Come back in a week, all right, thank you. As tonight.
- 35:40Speaker 2: As you're flying up, she looks at you. Quanta moves
- 35:44Speaker 2: the drink off of the coaster onto the wood table
- 35:49Speaker 2: and then winks at you and knocks the glass off
- 35:52Speaker 2: the table and shatters on the floor. Have a little fun.
- 35:55Speaker 6: Okay, oh my god, you guys, I think I'm in
- 35:58Speaker 6: love with them.
- 36:02Speaker 3: We're on the job. As I fly up and we
- 36:08Speaker 3: opened this up.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Cluta is blushing furiously under her battle Clava.
- 36:16Speaker 6: They seem nice, so nice. Wow, well what a what
- 36:20Speaker 6: a find? That went very well and no payment is awesome.
- 36:26Speaker 6: But the connections with Russian mafia, that's alarming. Yes, I
- 36:34Speaker 6: flew by Sophia's place. Seemed legit. They shot a guy
- 36:40Speaker 6: right through the hand.
- 36:41Speaker 3: It is a what wait, yeah, so legit? What I
- 36:46Speaker 3: think he was? I think he had done something that
- 36:48Speaker 3: deserved hand shooting throughs?
- 36:52Speaker 1: Who this guy? I don't know who's the guy?
- 36:55Speaker 3: I was just there.
- 36:55Speaker 1: There was a kerfuffle. I don't know. Fine, did you involved?
- 37:01Speaker 5: I mean I said justice has served and flew away.
- 37:04Speaker 5: I think, all right, I don't know. They's nicer than
- 37:09Speaker 5: the mob that I know. They could have just killed
- 37:11Speaker 5: that guy. Yes, okay, so.
- 37:15Speaker 3: You saw a brothel shooting happened and just did it
- 37:22Speaker 3: intervene at all? I'm pretty sure the guy like hit
- 37:26Speaker 3: one of the people there, Okay, And now his hand
- 37:29Speaker 3: is all messed up, and that feels that feels right
- 37:32Speaker 3: to me.
- 37:33Speaker 1: You sound like Jason. I mean that sounds right to me.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Compartmentalization failing.
- 37:43Speaker 3: Okay, well, we we know that we have slightly different
- 37:49Speaker 3: true nords on our moral compasses. But maybe next time
- 37:54Speaker 3: we can talk about shootings we see and discuss it
- 38:00Speaker 3: if we all should uh make a joint decision on
- 38:03Speaker 3: engauge it with gunshot wound victims in the middle of
- 38:07Speaker 3: the street. Hey, you guys would be so proud. I
- 38:09Speaker 3: used restraint when I didn't attack like a hundred mobsters
- 38:13Speaker 3: that were getting ready to go to war. Wait, what
- 38:17Speaker 3: what was this? Oh yeah, I don't know. We just
- 38:19Speaker 3: haven't had that. There's not enough time in the day, guys, there's.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Not there's nothing.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Let's catch up now and we are still in down.
- 38:28Speaker 2: But before we catch up, which you guys should do,
- 38:31Speaker 2: but Quanta still has a couple of points in thread chasing.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Jamiir put zero in and he got to come along
- 38:38Speaker 2: for this bonus because because Jason gave him one to
- 38:43Speaker 2: carry him along borrowed points, Jason's other one was coming along.
- 38:50Speaker 2: So you still have two I think three, unless we've
- 38:53Speaker 2: used one. One would have been taken up in the
- 38:58Speaker 2: masked life of going along and learning about magic.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Perfect. That's great because I had an empty slot because
- 39:06Speaker 1: I had four total.
- 39:07Speaker 3: Yes, so two left. Yes, what do you want to
- 39:09Speaker 3: do first, Quanta?
- 39:10Speaker 1: I would love to follow up at Carrie's candles? Oh sure,
- 39:16Speaker 1: I think yeah? I zip strike, kaboom, what's the verb here?
- 39:22Speaker 2: Strike is good?
- 39:23Speaker 1: Strike? I strike through the city, alighting atop a building
- 39:27Speaker 1: close to Carrie's candles and sense if I can, and
- 39:32Speaker 1: we'll focus in to see if I can sense Carrie herself.
- 39:35Speaker 2: What time? Sorry did you say kind of win?
- 39:38Speaker 1: Did camp mention when he would be coming back?
- 39:41Speaker 2: He is a nighttime operator.
- 39:42Speaker 1: Then I'll go in the evening and stake out like
- 39:46Speaker 1: a building across the street and wait to see if
- 39:49Speaker 1: he returns.
- 39:50Speaker 2: Yeah, you notice, well this is the same This would
- 39:53Speaker 2: technically be the same week, so you don't see him
- 39:56Speaker 2: come back this week?
- 39:57Speaker 1: Okay. I wait until like closing time and like dance,
- 40:04Speaker 1: flip down the fire escape to the street level and
- 40:06Speaker 1: cross the street and just kind of like knock on
- 40:08Speaker 1: the window and wave at Carrie.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Her eyes go wide. She starts to panic a little bit.
- 40:15Speaker 1: No, no, I like wave, no, no, no, let me in.
- 40:17Speaker 1: It's okay.
- 40:17Speaker 2: It comes to the door and lets you in.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Hi, oh hey there, hey, it's me again.
- 40:22Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Well what do you want?
- 40:24Speaker 1: Well, the ginger snap was fantastic. I'm like looking around
- 40:28Speaker 1: to see if anyone else is in here.
- 40:29Speaker 2: No, no, it's closing eye.
- 40:31Speaker 1: I I just I wanted to give you this phone number,
- 40:35Speaker 1: and I give her the number that goes to the
- 40:38Speaker 1: phone in the basement and the in the everwing nest.
- 40:42Speaker 1: If Camp comes back, can you call this number? Okay,
- 40:46Speaker 1: and me and maybe a couple friends will come help you.
- 40:50Speaker 2: Okay. He hasn't been back yet. He's supposed to, you know,
- 40:54Speaker 2: Monday's is his Monday nights. But okay, I don't know
- 40:57Speaker 2: because you scared him off. I don't know if he'll
- 40:59Speaker 2: come back, but I'll call when he does. Okay, Okay,
- 41:03Speaker 2: are you you're okay?
- 41:04Speaker 1: Otherwise?
- 41:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm trying to scramble enough money to, you know,
- 41:08Speaker 2: for next time he comes back.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Well, you just you just let me know and if
- 41:13Speaker 1: i'm if I'm not busy, I'll be here Monday night.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, got it?
- 41:16Speaker 1: Can I take this pomegranate candle? Um?
- 41:22Speaker 2: Okay, I give her two pepple dollars. You head out
- 41:28Speaker 2: into the night with a pomegranate candle. What's the other
- 41:31Speaker 2: thread you're chasing.
- 41:33Speaker 1: This is a big one. I would love to go
- 41:36Speaker 1: where I think I saw the womb in Galileo's grave.
- 41:42Speaker 1: We're going to the womb, womb. We're going back in
- 41:45Speaker 1: the womb.
- 41:47Speaker 2: I would let both the boys come along if you
- 41:49Speaker 2: want to on this one.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Boys, you want to go to the womb, the womb.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Oh the thing Derek mentioned, Yes, I think I think
- 42:00Speaker 1: I saw it. I sensed it, saw it, sinced it.
- 42:05Speaker 1: I don't know. That sounds when we were in Galileo's grave,
- 42:10Speaker 1: when we were fleeing with my dad. Sounds nice. Let's go.
- 42:17Speaker 2: Let's you guys head up north the northernmost part of
- 42:21Speaker 2: the city. There's a neighborhood that used to be there,
- 42:25Speaker 2: used to be a campus, four blocks taken up with
- 42:29Speaker 2: amazing scientific laboratories and discovery small factories. That is all
- 42:36Speaker 2: now dilapidated and going old. You fought here before where
- 42:40Speaker 2: you found quantus, Dad. You go to that same building
- 42:43Speaker 2: that you've heard called Genesis before. It was the first
- 42:47Speaker 2: place where they found some day science that they built
- 42:51Speaker 2: off of to understand day physiology. When you were here
- 42:56Speaker 2: last time, you fought guards, You fought a man with
- 43:01Speaker 2: dragon tattoos. You fought a mysterious invisible day woman with
- 43:07Speaker 2: an electric bone, not electric but an energy bow and arrow.
- 43:11Speaker 2: As you get their, Quanta, you sense that it's empty.
- 43:16Speaker 1: No people, Okay, no one's here now, So should we
- 43:19Speaker 1: check out this building first, see what we can find quietly.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Last time we got kind of roughed up. No one's here,
- 43:28Speaker 1: but yeah, I think just in case.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Yeah, you head into this dilapidated lab and it has
- 43:36Speaker 2: been fully cleared out. It has been made to look
- 43:39Speaker 2: like nothing happened here. What figures, But Quanta, as you
- 43:45Speaker 2: are feeling sensing, seeing the electricity run, you sense again
- 43:50Speaker 2: the vast underground space.
- 43:55Speaker 1: There's something below.
- 43:57Speaker 2: And a hidden elevator in the back of warehouse wall.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Go to the wall and sense where the mechanism is
- 44:05Speaker 1: and put my hand to the wall and just give
- 44:08Speaker 1: a little, little little zap, and then the doors slide
- 44:13Speaker 1: open to reveal that elevator going down.
- 44:18Speaker 2: The elevator opens up, and Quanta, you turned the light
- 44:21Speaker 2: on in the elevator and you head down.
- 44:26Speaker 1: There was no electricity running to this place.
- 44:32Speaker 3: Now paper folds away from Jason's face. Now, what do
- 44:35Speaker 3: we think is? What do we think the wombs? What
- 44:39Speaker 3: is this.
- 44:41Speaker 1: I'm just I'm just not remembering what Dirk said about
- 44:46Speaker 1: them using people. Oh no, do you want do you
- 44:56Speaker 1: want me to go in first? And so you can
- 45:00Speaker 1: be warned if your kind is maybe there's like remains
- 45:06Speaker 1: there or something.
- 45:08Speaker 3: No, we'll, we'll, we'll go it together. Yeah, I want
- 45:11Speaker 3: to look great, great, Jason. Okay, the elevator seems to
- 45:20Speaker 3: take longer than it should. You go down, down, down,
- 45:25Speaker 3: Then the door opens the opposite way that you entered.
- 45:29Speaker 3: So if you, hey, when elevators do that, we were
- 45:32Speaker 3: facing the wrong way.
- 45:36Speaker 2: Arthur's down there.
- 45:39Speaker 1: It just dies.
- 45:41Speaker 2: Heart attack. Now it opens the other way. So if
- 45:48Speaker 2: you're thinking about the geography a little bit, this expanse
- 45:52Speaker 2: goes out under no man's land towards the wall, and
- 45:58Speaker 2: that's what it is, an expanse. The light that Quanta
- 46:04Speaker 2: has put on from the elevator feels like a drop
- 46:09Speaker 2: in the bucket of darkness. Infinite dark corners leer back
- 46:18Speaker 2: at you as you attempt to uncover a troubling past
- 46:25Speaker 2: you see just on the edge of your vision. In
- 46:30Speaker 2: the shadows, eyeless day skulls sit on conveyor belts, waiting
- 46:38Speaker 2: on mechanical arms that will never move to install their sight.
- 46:43Speaker 2: Wo headless day skeletons hang waiting for the breath of
- 46:49Speaker 2: life that will never be breathed into them. This is
- 46:54Speaker 2: the dead womb of the day, a factory of your people.
- 47:02Speaker 1: Holy shit? Is this what what my grandparents were? Holy shit? Oh?
- 47:21Speaker 1: Quanta kind of stumbles forward a little bit like around
- 47:25Speaker 1: the road.
- 47:25Speaker 5: Manifest a paper bag and handed to you thanks for
- 47:28Speaker 5: breathing or bukh.
- 47:32Speaker 1: No, I want to face this. I think I've I
- 47:39Speaker 1: think I've been shown all of them before. I think
- 47:41Speaker 1: I've seen all of them before. What when I when
- 47:47Speaker 1: I learned what I could do, I was like I
- 47:51Speaker 1: was in an ocean and there were all these day
- 47:56Speaker 1: people I didn't recognize, just kind of like these headless bodies,
- 48:01Speaker 1: just like hovering above the sea. And then all of
- 48:05Speaker 1: a sudden they had life in them and they were
- 48:07Speaker 1: pulling me down and drowning them and I think this
- 48:09Speaker 1: is them. I think, I think this is what I saw,
- 48:14Speaker 1: and yeah, it feels like drowning. So they started making
- 48:21Speaker 1: day and then just left all this is still here.
- 48:31Speaker 3: And they didn't get to finish what happened here. Let's investigate.
- 48:39Speaker 5: I'll make a couple of like paper lanterns if you
- 48:41Speaker 5: want to Quantu wants to light them up, or Ranchel
- 48:44Speaker 5: light a little piece on fire. Sure, yeah, I'll light
- 48:50Speaker 5: my fists with my magic blast energy just enough to
- 48:55Speaker 5: produce some light and hover on a flight star a
- 48:57Speaker 5: few itches off the ground.
- 49:01Speaker 3: For extra light.
- 49:02Speaker 1: You can let y'all light your lanterns on fire and
- 49:04Speaker 1: then just like barely have my whip out of my hand,
- 49:09Speaker 1: so it's like a little baby flame.
- 49:11Speaker 2: As you guys, spread some light into the shadow you
- 49:15Speaker 2: gather that you are in. You're on the factory floor,
- 49:19Speaker 2: and this seems like a fully automated factory floor. It
- 49:23Speaker 2: looks like no hands were used to create the day bodies,
- 49:28Speaker 2: but just these machines made them. And as you walk
- 49:33Speaker 2: and as you it's it's all the same. It's all
- 49:36Speaker 2: monotonous and and tedious and repetitive until you see what
- 49:43Speaker 2: might be like a command center for this place. There's
- 49:47Speaker 2: there are there are some kind of switch. There are
- 49:50Speaker 2: some switch backstairs, and the there's a a bunch of
- 49:56Speaker 2: panels of windows that are that are shoved into the earth.
- 50:00Speaker 2: When you get to an earthen wall down here.
- 50:07Speaker 1: Shall we, Oh, yeah, after you. I walk up the staircase,
- 50:15Speaker 1: are footsteps echoing through this vast space, and get to
- 50:22Speaker 1: the door and open it, and it's like the loudest
- 50:26Speaker 1: sound we've heard since coming in here.
- 50:30Speaker 2: As this sound starts you a little bit, you are
- 50:34Speaker 2: again surprised by the very first thing you see in here.
- 50:36Speaker 2: It's obvious. It's against the back wall, a little concave
- 50:49Speaker 2: dent in the wall, displayed stiffly on a mannequin, is
- 50:53Speaker 2: a gray suit with intricate white accent lines. With the
- 50:59Speaker 2: exception of the forearms and the hands, the entire body
- 51:03Speaker 2: would be covered with a gray, flexible metal mesh. Two
- 51:10Speaker 2: white belts, tarnished and worn, cross over the chest and
- 51:15Speaker 2: connect at the waist and the two shoulder epaulets. These
- 51:21Speaker 2: hold a light yet immense, shimmering white cape. And then
- 51:28Speaker 2: there's the helm pointed cheeks that fall below the chin,
- 51:34Speaker 2: connecting in a swoop under the mouth so that none
- 51:38Speaker 2: of the face would be revealed. The center dome displays
- 51:43Speaker 2: a mighty white fin that arcs from the forehead to
- 51:48Speaker 2: the nape of the neck. It is sharp and dangerous, Demir,
- 51:53Speaker 2: you recognize this form immediately from your comic books. Standing
- 51:57Speaker 2: before you is bright Blade.
- 52:20Speaker 1: I was wearing that in the memory.
- 52:24Speaker 3: This is bride Blade's costume. Yeah, like this is this
- 52:28Speaker 3: is the real bright Blade costume.
- 52:32Speaker 1: Wow?
- 52:33Speaker 2: Cool?
- 52:33Speaker 1: Why is it here?
- 52:36Speaker 3: He must have been he must have been involved in
- 52:39Speaker 3: this ship.
- 52:40Speaker 1: We got to take this back to Dirk. I just
- 52:41Speaker 1: march over and start pulling it off of the mannequin,
- 52:44Speaker 1: just unceremoniously, like shaking the mannequin out of it.
- 52:49Speaker 2: This is the first thing you see, and it's surprising.
- 52:51Speaker 2: You walk over and you start grabbing it off the
- 52:53Speaker 2: wall on the same wall. You notice as you're walking over,
- 52:58Speaker 2: or maybe the two of you notice, as Quanta is
- 53:01Speaker 2: kind of in the throes of things, there are more
- 53:03Speaker 2: indent what's the word I'm looking for? Indentations? Thank you?
- 53:08Speaker 2: There are more indentations in the wall. There are three.
- 53:12Speaker 2: Two of them are empty. They look to be the
- 53:16Speaker 2: shape of day bodies but large. The third one has
- 53:21Speaker 2: a day man in it.
- 53:23Speaker 1: Oh, it's been on his mannequin too long. Help me out,
- 53:29Speaker 1: I helbro.
- 53:30Speaker 2: Hey, you guys, get the bright Blade suit and you
- 53:34Speaker 2: have it next to each of the indentations in the wall.
- 53:40Speaker 2: There is a little slot where you see a cylindrical
- 53:46Speaker 2: tube with purple fluid in it that looks like it
- 53:51Speaker 2: would fit right in the place where you were told
- 53:56Speaker 2: to drop blood in Dirk's nape of his neck.
- 54:00Speaker 3: Huhm oh.
- 54:02Speaker 2: Underneath it says permasel.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Oh ship, there's a whole day person in here.
- 54:08Speaker 3: Hey, Jenny, Yeah, how much paper down here? Go ahead,
- 54:13Speaker 3: make a sense chick. It's gonna be four with oh,
- 54:18Speaker 3: I gotta roll. That's how this game works. This is
- 54:22Speaker 3: a is the game basic check ethan. I also rolled
- 54:25Speaker 3: a four very close fail.
- 54:27Speaker 1: Tie cry.
- 54:28Speaker 2: If you tie your cry, cry whoa, that's the game talking.
- 54:43Speaker 2: You don't sense much in here, and this is me.
- 54:46Speaker 2: I know you you have a very very close fail,
- 54:48Speaker 2: but generally you don't sense it's on a paper in here. Okay,
- 54:51Speaker 2: but there are some labels that stick out to you
- 54:55Speaker 2: that people have written on uh in not on the
- 55:00Speaker 2: back wall, but kind of on the sidewall the labels,
- 55:05Speaker 2: and when you sense those, you look over and you
- 55:07Speaker 2: see stacked up old VHS tapes. But the audio kind
- 55:15Speaker 2: in new babble in our world. By the way, I
- 55:18Speaker 2: don't know if we've ever stated this explicitly. Audio is
- 55:22Speaker 2: on big old VHS tapes.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Oh and I've got a player with me all the time.
- 55:26Speaker 2: There's also a player in the wall.
- 55:28Speaker 1: Oh that might be better than we can all. Maybe
- 55:31Speaker 1: hear it.
- 55:31Speaker 2: But they're a mess over there. They're they're disheveled and unkept.
- 55:37Speaker 2: It seems as though a lot of them are missing
- 55:40Speaker 2: from different slots. But the labels. One of them says
- 55:45Speaker 2: Venium and Project Today in the same label, and then
- 55:50Speaker 2: another label says Venim Night Project bright Blade. Another one
- 55:56Speaker 2: says and then there's a label that says The Great Hiding.
- 56:00Speaker 2: But again, a lot of these tapes you're gone, but
- 56:02Speaker 2: there are some here.
- 56:04Speaker 1: I'm going to fold up a nice meat paper box
- 56:07Speaker 1: and just start slooping them in there. Doop doop doop whatever.
- 56:11Speaker 1: We got a movie night? Yeah, I just dump Dirk
- 56:15Speaker 1: suit on top of the pile in the box. I
- 56:17Speaker 1: reinforced I may more cardboard. I walk over to this
- 56:22Speaker 1: day person in one of the recesses. Yeah, and scan,
- 56:29Speaker 1: see what I can sense?
- 56:30Speaker 2: You scan and sense immediately that there is no life
- 56:33Speaker 2: in this person. There is life in all three of
- 56:38Speaker 2: the perma cells, these glowing purple vials.
- 56:44Speaker 1: Permosel just a hunch, but you think this would power
- 56:48Speaker 1: Dirk longer than blood. Maybe permanently. I mean, that's insane,
- 56:55Speaker 1: but everything's insane. I'm always in favor of plugging things
- 56:59Speaker 1: into other things. Yeah, what we should plug that thing
- 57:04Speaker 1: into that thing. See, maybe we'll ask him. I'll take
- 57:08Speaker 1: all three and dump them on top of the suit
- 57:10Speaker 1: in the cardboard.
- 57:11Speaker 2: Box, and you look. I'll say one thing about the
- 57:15Speaker 2: appearance of this day man. He is tall like Dirk is,
- 57:18Speaker 2: but he is broader than Dirk. He is a big
- 57:22Speaker 2: old boy beefy.
- 57:24Speaker 5: Yeah, hey, Randel, do you know you don't recognize this?
- 57:30Speaker 5: This isn't like another one of those, like one of
- 57:33Speaker 5: Dirk's siblings, or like another's hero or something not that
- 57:37Speaker 5: I'm familiar with.
- 57:39Speaker 1: No, I look and see if this corpse has a port.
- 57:46Speaker 3: It does corpse port. Oh, it's got a hole like
- 57:51Speaker 3: Dirk's hole.
- 57:53Speaker 1: Blood or cell already cut my hand? Oh, Jason, it
- 58:01Speaker 1: was unrelated. It was just earlier.
- 58:05Speaker 3: Do you want to give it a little See who
- 58:10Speaker 3: were waking up for a second.
- 58:15Speaker 1: I rotate it in the recess so that we can
- 58:19Speaker 1: reach it.
- 58:20Speaker 2: As the blood drips in demr and Jason, here's what
- 58:26Speaker 2: you see. The eyes of this man lurch open just
- 58:31Speaker 2: to get space from the crowding indentation he's in. He bursts.
- 58:41Speaker 1: Lightning whip, come out of my hand and stand right
- 58:43Speaker 1: in front of him with my other hand.
- 58:44Speaker 2: Out bursts out of his little concave port in the wall.
- 58:52Speaker 1: Quanta.
- 58:53Speaker 2: Here's what you see as the blood drips in the
- 58:57Speaker 2: body wakes up, all the normal elect twal pathways that
- 59:01Speaker 2: day have that you're familiar with start to ignite. But
- 59:04Speaker 2: for a moment here you don't see person or soul,
- 59:09Speaker 2: and then a soul floods in. You feel it. You
- 59:14Speaker 2: don't know how, you don't know why, you don't even
- 59:18Speaker 2: know what it does scientifically and like electrically in someone,
- 59:22Speaker 2: but you feel the person just rush into this body.
- 59:28Speaker 2: And then Jason and jameyr what you see is as
- 59:32Speaker 2: this man is just bust out of the wall, he
- 59:36Speaker 2: starts yelling, his body is lifted up and starts glowing
- 59:44Speaker 2: okay big, and then he drops to the ground, leaving
- 59:48Speaker 2: a small crater in the earth, looks up at the
- 59:54Speaker 2: three of you and says ooh, and then passes out.
- 59:59Speaker 2: And that's where we'll end this session.
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: Alright, alright, alright.
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: Thank you. That is the first time that's happened in
