Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Per It's media podcast. Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the
- 0:12Speaker 1: only game show where conservation always wins. I'm your host,
- 0:15Speaker 1: Spencer new Arth and today we're joined by Cal Brody Randall,
- 0:19Speaker 1: Maggie Chester, Seth Mackenzie and Hansie. This is a ten
- 0:23Speaker 1: round quiz show with questions from meat eaters four verticals
- 0:26Speaker 1: which are hunting, fishing, conservation and cooking, and there is
- 0:30Speaker 1: a prize. Meat Eater will donate five hundred dollars to
- 0:32Speaker 1: the conservation organization of the winners. Choosing and for the
- 0:36Speaker 1: start of the week. This week we're looking at player
- 0:38Speaker 1: performance in regular episodes versus guest host episodes. During a
- 0:43Speaker 1: regular round of trivia, the average player score is four
- 0:47Speaker 1: point seven to two. During a guest host round of trivia,
- 0:51Speaker 1: the average player score is three point two. That's a
- 0:54Speaker 1: difference of one point five to two points. During a
- 0:57Speaker 1: regular round of trivia, the average winning score there is
- 1:00Speaker 1: seven point three eight and during a guest host round
- 1:03Speaker 1: of trivia, the average player score is five point seven
- 1:06Speaker 1: to five. That's a difference of one point six three points.
- 1:09Speaker 1: It's safe to say the guest host rounds are significantly harder.
- 1:14Speaker 2: I've had a lot of point three eight type answers,
- 1:16Speaker 2: So that's gonna Mike Calm.
- 1:19Speaker 3: I would have guessed that there would have been a
- 1:21Speaker 3: never mind much larger differential between them.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Well, I think we had Brody and Yanni's games had
- 1:27Speaker 1: four as the winning score, and then I think yours
- 1:30Speaker 1: was eight and Steve's might have been eight something like that.
- 1:34Speaker 1: So you and Steve brought the average up cal or
- 1:36Speaker 1: excuse me, Brody and Yanni brought the average down still harder.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Though people will sometimes ask for harder rounds of Trivia,
- 1:44Speaker 1: they get it when someone else is the host. Now
- 1:48Speaker 1: here's our Infrequently Asked Questions segment. If you have a
- 1:51Speaker 1: trivia related question for our crew, send it to Trivia
- 1:54Speaker 1: at the meadeater dot com with the subject line I FAQ.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Josh Chapman wants to know. My kids enjoy playing along
- 2:01Speaker 1: every week, but they especially loved the kids episode of Trivia.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Will there be more of those coming out? The answer
- 2:07Speaker 1: is yes. We have some kids specific podcasts coming out
- 2:11Speaker 1: later this year. Hopefully in the next couple months, Trivia
- 2:15Speaker 1: will be part of that show. I think that's all
- 2:18Speaker 1: I can say for now. I've heard the pilot that
- 2:20Speaker 1: Phil has edited. I think it's one of the best
- 2:22Speaker 1: things that we're putting out as an audio product. I
- 2:24Speaker 1: am stoked on at Phil. I think it is a
- 2:27Speaker 1: lot of fun. I would listen to it even though
- 2:29Speaker 1: I'm not a kid. I don't have kids.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it's it's awesome. I mean, we did we
- 2:33Speaker 4: made a mistake. It's sort of what we usually do
- 2:35Speaker 4: around here as we talk about something like way before
- 2:37Speaker 4: we know when it's coming out. We have no set
- 2:41Speaker 4: date on when this kid's podcast is going to start,
- 2:43Speaker 4: but it'll happen eventually this year. Stay tuned, Yeah, this
- 2:45Speaker 4: year hopefully.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Good work, Phil.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Hey, Phil, I got a question for you. Hey, what's
- 2:49Speaker 2: up mentally? What's going on every time you watch Spencer
- 2:54Speaker 2: manhandle as Mike like that, He's just like constantly touching.
- 2:57Speaker 4: I mean I've talked to him about it before and
- 2:59Speaker 4: I've just kind of giving up.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Sorry, that's a fidget I fidgetalized.
- 3:04Speaker 4: I just got done editing the Brody hosted episode. Even
- 3:07Speaker 4: when you're not in the host seat, Spencer, you were
- 3:09Speaker 4: moving that thing around like you're swirling a glass of scotch.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Or something, so you would say it's it does have
- 3:15Speaker 2: an effect. Then yeah, a little bit too hard.
- 3:20Speaker 1: We're only like one hundred episodes in. Yeah, one of us.
- 3:23Speaker 1: We'll figure it out. Either either Phil will just put
- 3:25Speaker 1: up with it, or I'll solve it and not mess
- 3:28Speaker 1: with the mic anymore. It's probably not going to be
- 3:30Speaker 1: me White, you know, the apologies, philologies. Now we have
- 3:36Speaker 1: some housekeeping to get to you. In a previous game of trivia,
- 3:38Speaker 1: we had a question about the six states that the
- 3:40Speaker 1: Wolverine Foundation says has established populations of wolverines. Those states
- 3:45Speaker 1: are Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Oregon, and Alaska. And you
- 3:49Speaker 1: follow up fact to it. I said that California's last
- 3:52Speaker 1: wolverine sighting was in nineteen twenty two, but that's when
- 3:56Speaker 1: the species was extirpated, not when it had its last sighting.
- 4:00Speaker 1: California actually had a sighting in two thousand and eight
- 4:02Speaker 1: and twenty twenty three, which are the states only two
- 4:05Speaker 1: confirmed sightings in the last one hundred years. Biologists believe
- 4:09Speaker 1: those two wolverines either wandered in from Oregon to the
- 4:11Speaker 1: north or the Rocky Mountains to the east. Similar to California,
- 4:15Speaker 1: Utah has had wolverine sidings but is not considered to
- 4:18Speaker 1: be part of their current range. According to the US
- 4:21Speaker 1: Fish and Wildlife Service, there have been eight confirmed wolverine
- 4:25Speaker 1: sidings in Utah since nineteen seventy nine, with four occurring
- 4:28Speaker 1: in twenty twenty one. Biologists actually captured and collared a
- 4:32Speaker 1: mail there in twenty twenty two, so it feels like
- 4:36Speaker 1: they are expanding their range, but the Wolverine Foundation still
- 4:39Speaker 1: says that their current range is those six states.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Well yeah, I mean, come on, it's like you're lying
- 4:46Speaker 2: to your audience right now to fit your narrative. Like
- 4:50Speaker 2: fill in folks with like how biology works. Right, Like
- 4:53Speaker 2: your question was where is the established range.
- 4:57Speaker 5: According to the wolf right, not established range, established population,
- 5:02Speaker 5: established population, So sightings don't count as established populations, right, like.
- 5:10Speaker 2: We need a breeding population. However, if you also talk
- 5:15Speaker 2: to these folks, like the way that they do their
- 5:17Speaker 2: studies is not totally comprehensive, like the Sierras in California impossible, right,
- 5:27Speaker 2: but or the even the Wahsatch range like both heavily peopled,
- 5:32Speaker 2: but impossible to catalog the whole range all the time. So,
- 5:39Speaker 2: but it is absolutely wolverine range and it has all
- 5:43Speaker 2: the factors that wolverines need that the people at the
- 5:48Speaker 2: Wolverine Society would say, these things have to be met
- 5:52Speaker 2: in order to have a wolverine population. So did they
- 5:57Speaker 2: ever get extirpated from California? It's a weasel, a highly
- 6:01Speaker 2: mobile weasel. I find it very, very hard to believe
- 6:05Speaker 2: that they did.
- 6:05Speaker 1: We'll be glad that's settled. Maybe in our lifetime. Now lah,
- 6:09Speaker 1: they'll draw that part in on the map for part
- 6:12Speaker 1: of their range.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Oh, I'm just I mean, it's like again, we know
- 6:17Speaker 2: that there's this theme of your answers not being like
- 6:22Speaker 2: one hundred the answer. So I think this episode, no,
- 6:27Speaker 2: I don't want to. I'm here to argue with you.
- 6:32Speaker 2: That's the fun part.
- 6:34Speaker 1: You're fulfilling it today. Now the Shelby an extrat. Today's
- 6:37Speaker 1: round is a five, So I'm putting us on perfect
- 6:40Speaker 1: game alert. And with that, we're onto the game of trivia.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Play the drop, Phil, Look, I need to know what
- 6:48Speaker 1: I stand to win. Everything's just tend to win everything.
- 7:01Speaker 6: Game on Suckers.
- 7:04Speaker 1: We have Seth and Chester with a one dollar bet.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Is that what you said? Okay? And who wins trivia?
- 7:09Speaker 1: All right? It is the first time scores higher, got it.
- 7:13Speaker 1: It's the first time you always have put money on
- 7:15Speaker 1: a game of trivia.
- 7:16Speaker 7: This is the first time.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Okay, one dollar bet on the line, five hundred dollars
- 7:20Speaker 1: for everybody else.
- 7:21Speaker 3: No football's over. You just can't help yourself in some
- 7:23Speaker 3: other way of getting.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Your fixed exactly. Question one. The topic is conservation. In
- 7:28Speaker 1: this is multiple choice. Which of these animal classes has
- 7:32Speaker 1: the most listings on America's and Endangered Species list? Is
- 7:36Speaker 1: it fishes, amphibians, reptiles, or mammals. This is counting animals
- 7:43Speaker 1: that are listed as endangered and threatened on the US
- 7:46Speaker 1: Fish and Wildlife Service and Dangered Species List for the
- 7:49Speaker 1: United States. So the question is which of these animal
- 7:52Speaker 1: classes has the most listings on America's and Dangered Species list.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Your four choices are fishes, amphibians, reptiles, mammals. Nobody in
- 8:08Speaker 1: the room looks very confident. Cal hasn't picked up his
- 8:10Speaker 1: whiteboard yet. Which of these animal classes has the most
- 8:16Speaker 1: listings on America's endangered species list? Fishes, amphibians, reptiles, mammals.
- 8:24Speaker 8: You know, I don't like fishes. Why can't we just
- 8:26Speaker 8: say fish?
- 8:28Speaker 1: You know, the the US Fish and Wildlife Service when
- 8:31Speaker 1: they listed the categories fish, So I respected that and
- 8:35Speaker 1: went with the yes, fishes, amphibians, reptiles, mammals. Hmmm, I
- 8:48Speaker 1: think we're waiting on Calan Brody.
- 8:52Speaker 8: I thought we'd dragged this one out a little and
- 8:54Speaker 8: we could.
- 8:54Speaker 2: What are you going with the first letters?
- 9:01Speaker 5: Two different?
- 9:02Speaker 1: Which animal class has the most listings on America's Endangered
- 9:06Speaker 1: Species list? Fishes, amphibians, reptiles, mammals. It's everybody ready, cal
- 9:17Speaker 1: go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Seth saying amphibians,
- 9:22Speaker 1: Hansei saying fishes, Chester saying amphibians, Randall saying fishes, Mackenzie
- 9:28Speaker 1: saying mammals, Col saying fishes, Maggie saying amphibians, Brody saying fish.
- 9:35Speaker 1: The correct answer is fishes. About half of you got
- 9:39Speaker 1: that right, Hansei, Randall, Col Brody from cad fish. There
- 9:45Speaker 1: are one hundred and thirty nine fish listed on the
- 9:48Speaker 1: United States and Dangered Species List. That's followed by mammals
- 9:51Speaker 1: with eighty one, reptiles with fifty, and amphibians with forty three.
- 9:55Speaker 1: In total, there are seven hundred twenty six animals and
- 9:58Speaker 1: nine hundred thirty nine plants on the list. Question two
- 10:02Speaker 1: the topic is hunting This next great question comes to
- 10:05Speaker 1: us via Tim Bowles. States such as Wyoming, Illinois, Louisiana,
- 10:11Speaker 1: and New York offer this color as an alternative to
- 10:15Speaker 1: wearing hunter orange. The topic is hunting. States such as Wyoming, Illinois, Louisiana,
- 10:25Speaker 1: and New York offer this color as an alternative to
- 10:29Speaker 1: wearing hunter orange.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Amphibians are so far down on that list. Makes me
- 10:33Speaker 2: think we ran out of them before we started knowing
- 10:35Speaker 2: that they were here.
- 10:36Speaker 8: Maybe you know what, Spencer, Steve would be real happy
- 10:39Speaker 8: with the way you worded.
- 10:40Speaker 1: This question, such as he's changed, he's a new Year's
- 10:44Speaker 1: resolution twenty twenty four. You're gonna have like in questions
- 10:49Speaker 1: significantly last we're going with such as that'll make up
- 10:52Speaker 1: our grammar Nerds and Steve particularly happy. Here's the question
- 10:56Speaker 1: one more time. States such as Wyoming, Illinois, Louisiana, and
- 10:59Speaker 1: New York offered this color as an alternative to wearing
- 11:03Speaker 1: hunter orange. It's everybody ready, Maggie from Wyoming. Do you
- 11:08Speaker 1: have this one right? Maggie?
- 11:11Speaker 9: I hope so?
- 11:11Speaker 1: Okay, she hopes, so? Is everybody ready? Go ahead and
- 11:15Speaker 1: reveal your answers. We have Seth saying pink, Hansei saying red,
- 11:19Speaker 1: Chester saying red, Randall saying pink, Mackenzie saying neon yellow,
- 11:24Speaker 1: cal and Maggie and Brody saying pink. They got it.
- 11:27Speaker 1: The correct answer is pink. Other states that offer pink
- 11:32Speaker 1: as an alternative color include Wisconsin, Washington, Virginia, Minnesota, Maryland,
- 11:38Speaker 1: and Colorado. Proponents of Blaze pink say it's a way
- 11:41Speaker 1: to encourage more women to hunt, but when the topic
- 11:44Speaker 1: came up during twenty fifteen's Wisconsin legislative session, the Women's
- 11:48Speaker 1: Hunting and Sporting Association objected to the bill and called
- 11:52Speaker 1: it demeaning. For more on this subject, go to the
- 11:54Speaker 1: mediator dot com and read Sarah Keller's article called is
- 11:57Speaker 1: pink the New Orange?
- 11:58Speaker 8: How about? For more on this object, we asked the
- 12:00Speaker 8: two women in this room what they think.
- 12:03Speaker 10: I think that's bullshit. Which way, I'd never wear hot pink? Okay,
- 12:08Speaker 10: so I'm not gonna let that stop me from But
- 12:10Speaker 10: do you think I.
- 12:11Speaker 8: Would like the like line of thought that it would
- 12:15Speaker 8: encourage more women to hunt?
- 12:16Speaker 9: Is that it just seems no, it's going to be
- 12:19Speaker 9: a hard no for me.
- 12:20Speaker 6: Maybe I don't think I own an article of pink clothing,
- 12:23Speaker 6: so that might just be my opinion.
- 12:25Speaker 2: It's hot pink, hot pink.
- 12:27Speaker 6: I also don't own an article of hot pink clothing.
- 12:32Speaker 6: But to make the assumption that changing what color that
- 12:38Speaker 6: you can wear in the woods would make more women
- 12:40Speaker 6: go out there is just so absurd and like so
- 12:43Speaker 6: old fashioned, like just put your Hunter's orange on and
- 12:46Speaker 6: get out there.
- 12:48Speaker 1: About a dozen states disagree with you, though. Question three.
- 12:52Speaker 2: I want some super fun first Light knowledge. Okay, this
- 12:56Speaker 2: is something that I found fascinating deep insider when when
- 13:02Speaker 2: we were working on the women's line.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Cal you were like, what employee three at first Light
- 13:07Speaker 1: something like that.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Well, I was the first actual O. All right, Yeah.
- 13:14Speaker 2: So when we were working on the women's line, I
- 13:17Speaker 2: had rounded up basically all the women that I knew
- 13:23Speaker 2: that were guides and outfitters, and we were sending them
- 13:27Speaker 2: stuff and getting feedback from them, and then and it
- 13:31Speaker 2: was unanimous. It was like, no, we don't want any pink. However,
- 13:36Speaker 2: the buyers, like the vast majority of buyers in box
- 13:40Speaker 2: stores are male, and two of them said, you know
- 13:45Speaker 2: what you should do with this, put a little pink
- 13:48Speaker 2: on there.
- 13:50Speaker 1: So what did you guys do?
- 13:52Speaker 2: We didn't put any pink on, thank.
- 13:55Speaker 1: You question three. The topic is cooking. Eater, send this
- 14:00Speaker 1: six letter dish, which is basically Mexican beef stew, was
- 14:04Speaker 1: America's hottest taco trend in twenty twenty. Eater said, this
- 14:11Speaker 1: six letter dish, which is basically Mexican beef stew, was
- 14:15Speaker 1: America's hottest taco trend in twenty twenty. Brody is confident.
- 14:21Speaker 1: First one to come up with an answer. You have
- 14:22Speaker 1: this one right, Brody.
- 14:23Speaker 8: I think if anyone who spends any amount of time.
- 14:26Speaker 1: On in giving a hand.
- 14:29Speaker 6: One.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Okay, cal you have this one right as well.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Hold my hand, really hold.
- 14:35Speaker 1: The Randall Chester Hansei Seth side of the table is
- 14:38Speaker 1: not confident.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Has to do with the conversation that we had with
- 14:43Speaker 2: Randall earlier.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Okay, I spend a lot of time on Instagram, but
- 14:49Speaker 3: it's mostly for health and wellness and fitness trends.
- 14:53Speaker 8: Well, you know, part of health and wellness is food.
- 14:57Speaker 8: When done right.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Said This six letter dish, which is basically Mexican beef stew,
- 15:05Speaker 1: was America's hottest taco trend in twenty twenty. Maggie, you
- 15:10Speaker 1: have this one right as well, I hope so. Okay,
- 15:12Speaker 1: this corner of the table Cow, Maggie Brodie, they have
- 15:15Speaker 1: it right or other five players.
- 15:18Speaker 10: I feel like it should be more obvious.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Don't know the answer.
- 15:21Speaker 10: I'm just stumped. I'm gonna hear it and be like, yeah, exactly,
- 15:26Speaker 10: probably on the menu of chipotlet or something.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Letter dish. Oh, I don't know what you're referring to.
- 15:34Speaker 1: It seems like a hint for some folks.
- 15:36Speaker 9: That can excuse me.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Eater said this six letter dish, which is basically Mexican
- 15:42Speaker 1: beef stew, was America's hottest taco trend in twenty twenty.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Do we give up our five players who have not
- 15:50Speaker 1: come up with an answer? Ken Zie Randall, Oh, I
- 15:54Speaker 1: really don't want to give up. Okay, hottest taco, the
- 15:58Speaker 1: hottest taco trend.
- 16:00Speaker 3: Thinking taco trends and taco trends aren't coming to mind,
- 16:06Speaker 3: supply line disruptions, masks, COVID taco trend is just not huh.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I think you're running out of time.
- 16:17Speaker 9: Oh it's gonna be so.
- 16:21Speaker 2: No, it doesn't matter.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Oh, Phil says, go ahead, and a way to go.
- 16:27Speaker 1: We have Seth and Hansie and Chester and Randall and
- 16:31Speaker 1: Mackenzie without an answer with cal sang upside down Berea,
- 16:35Speaker 1: Maggie sang Beria, Brody sang Beria, and they all spelled
- 16:39Speaker 1: it right. The correct answer is Beria.
- 16:42Speaker 2: I would have never have gotten that.
- 16:43Speaker 6: They're so good. They're such good you should make them
- 16:47Speaker 6: if you haven't had no it's because the dippy sauce. Yeah.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Beria was invented in the sixteen hundreds in Mexico and
- 16:57Speaker 1: gained popularity when it started getting served out of food
- 17:00Speaker 1: trucks in California in the early two thousands. Eater says
- 17:03Speaker 1: it got national attention after a viral Instagram post in
- 17:07Speaker 1: twenty eighteen which showed someone dipping a Berea taco in
- 17:11Speaker 1: a steaming cup of consumme. If you want to learn
- 17:13Speaker 1: how to make it, then go to the medieater dot
- 17:15Speaker 1: com and read Wade Trunk's recipe called Venison Berea Tacos. Randall,
- 17:20Speaker 1: did you know that one?
- 17:22Speaker 3: I know what I mean. I'm familiar with berea. I
- 17:27Speaker 3: just did not cross my mind.
- 17:28Speaker 1: You weren't aware of that taco trend in twenty twenty.
- 17:32Speaker 8: It's still a trend still.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Yeah, that's I guess that's where it's throwing me off.
- 17:36Speaker 1: But yeah, you can go check out our recipe on that.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I like.
- 17:40Speaker 8: I like how they're able to pinpoint when it was invented.
- 17:44Speaker 3: If you'd said a six letter dish beginning with B,
- 17:47Speaker 3: I would have oh, really, quite confidently, I can say
- 17:50Speaker 3: I would agree.
- 17:51Speaker 9: I think that that would have spurred it.
- 17:52Speaker 1: It was the question four. The topic is fishing. This
- 17:55Speaker 1: next great question is via Jared Curtis. A two thousand
- 17:59Speaker 1: and eight book declared this fish, which goes by the
- 18:01Speaker 1: nickname Bunker, to be quote, the most important fish in
- 18:05Speaker 1: the sea. A two thousand and eight book declared this fish,
- 18:12Speaker 1: which goes by the nickname Bunker, to be the most
- 18:15Speaker 1: important fish in the sea. Brody and cal and Randall
- 18:21Speaker 1: know it.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Doctor Williams has an unfair advantage on this one.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Oh really tell us about it?
- 18:26Speaker 8: No, No, you need to stop talking.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Okay. A book declared this fish, which goes by the
- 18:34Speaker 1: nickname Bunker, to be the most important fish in the sea.
- 18:37Speaker 1: For those of you who have it right, Brody, Cal Randall,
- 18:41Speaker 1: do you agree that this is the most important fish
- 18:44Speaker 1: in the sea.
- 18:45Speaker 8: I think it depends on where you're at in the sea.
- 18:47Speaker 3: But I have a hard time making just large scale
- 18:52Speaker 3: pronouncements about the sea because it's so mysterious.
- 18:56Speaker 8: So did you see what cal posted about the sea?
- 18:59Speaker 8: They found and a beer bottle on the bottom of
- 19:01Speaker 8: the Marianas Trench.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Yeah, wow, kind I wonder, I wonder it was still
- 19:06Speaker 1: had the label on green glass. I wonder where that started,
- 19:10Speaker 1: Like it's drift, if it was like the rolling round
- 19:13Speaker 1: from a cottonent away, or.
- 19:15Speaker 2: I mean, if it were to go straight down. The
- 19:19Speaker 2: amount of time it takes for something to get to
- 19:21Speaker 2: the bottom.
- 19:23Speaker 8: It's like thirty five thousand feet or something like that.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Thirty seven.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Humans are so impressive. We can litter at the bottom
- 19:31Speaker 1: of the earth.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Well yeah, I mean the first time we got like, uh,
- 19:35Speaker 2: some sort of live feed down there. The first thing
- 19:37Speaker 2: that they saw was a plastic bag going by. Everybody
- 19:39Speaker 2: got real excited. They're like, oh, it's a news, it's
- 19:42Speaker 2: a plastic go.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Humans were undefeated, and now where we can put our litter.
- 19:47Speaker 1: A two thousand and eight book declared this fish, which
- 19:49Speaker 1: goes by the nickname Bunker, to be the most important
- 19:51Speaker 1: fish in the seas. Everybody ready, HANSI go ahead and
- 20:02Speaker 1: reveal your answers. We have seth saying stripe, bass, Hansie's
- 20:06Speaker 1: saying alewives, Chester saying coho salmon, Randall saying men Hayden,
- 20:13Speaker 1: Mackenzie saying grouper, cal saying men Hayden, Maggie saying sardines,
- 20:19Speaker 1: Rody saying men Hayden. The correct answer is men Hayden.
- 20:23Speaker 10: You've never even heard of that.
- 20:25Speaker 1: A two thousand and eight Bruce Franklin book called men
- 20:28Speaker 1: Hayden the Ocean's Unlikely Hero. He goes on to describe
- 20:32Speaker 1: how billions of them are ground up and turned into
- 20:34Speaker 1: animal food, fertilizer, and oil each year. Men Hayden play
- 20:38Speaker 1: an important role in marine ecosystems. Is one of the
- 20:41Speaker 1: primary food sources of bluefish, stripe, bass, sharks, whales and dolphins. Now,
- 20:46Speaker 1: what is the advantage that doctor Randall had?
- 20:49Speaker 2: Thank you so much for asking, Doctor Randall. Williams used
- 20:54Speaker 2: to work for the Tatterarios about conservation partnership and what
- 20:57Speaker 2: was TRCP doing on the you of man Hayden.
- 21:01Speaker 1: We did a lot of things.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Uh, it's a complicated issue because it's a marine fishery,
- 21:06Speaker 3: so like there's a different state. But yeah, I mean,
- 21:13Speaker 3: this reduction fishery is like blowing up a sort of
- 21:17Speaker 3: keystone forage fish that affects game fish populations. And it's
- 21:22Speaker 3: all the way up and down the Atlantic coast and
- 21:24Speaker 3: in the Gulf. And uh yeah, I've spent more time
- 21:29Speaker 3: thinking and talking and writing about Man Hayden than one
- 21:32Speaker 3: might ever want to.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Yeah, like most folks who live in Montana, are there
- 21:39Speaker 1: other names for them? Bunker, I'm just pogy.
- 21:43Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Question five the topic is wildlife. This next great question
- 21:49Speaker 1: comes to us via time Brooks name one of the
- 21:53Speaker 1: three states with coda Munday according to the National Park Service.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Some online pronunciations like Merriam Webster's Monday. Yeah, kauda Monday,
- 22:04Speaker 1: but most folks that I hear say it are code
- 22:07Speaker 1: of Monday named one of the three states that have
- 22:10Speaker 1: code of Monday according to the National Park Service.
- 22:14Speaker 11: I just recently observed what are you kidding me?
- 22:21Speaker 1: There's a little hint from about five words that Seth
- 22:25Speaker 1: got out of his mouth before Randall shut.
- 22:28Speaker 11: Him everywhere from Montana to Pennsylvania to Mackenzie.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Did that give you a hint? She's shaking her head. Yeh,
- 22:38Speaker 1: look what you did.
- 22:40Speaker 9: I mean, I don't know that's right, I don't know you're.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Telling my story.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Now, Chester, did they give you a hint? I mean, yeah,
- 22:50Speaker 1: I already already Hansei? Did that give you a hint?
- 22:53Speaker 2: Where were you?
- 22:55Speaker 1: But it also confused gave him a hint and confused him.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Wow, crazy trip to give it? I can give you.
- 23:06Speaker 2: I give you just closed there for I give you
- 23:09Speaker 2: another hint.
- 23:10Speaker 11: Okay, go ahead, where I've most recently been, where people
- 23:15Speaker 11: probably thought I was talking about, I've never observed them there?
- 23:20Speaker 1: Okay, is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 23:26Speaker 1: We have seth saying Arizona, Hansi saying Texas, Chester saying Arizona,
- 23:32Speaker 1: Randall saying Texas, Mackenzie saying Texas, cal saying Texas, Maggie
- 23:35Speaker 1: saying Arizona. Brody saying Arizona. Everybody got it. The three
- 23:39Speaker 1: states are Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. Nobody said New Mexico.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Everyone got it with Arizona or Texas.
- 23:48Speaker 10: Can somebody tell me what that is?
- 23:49Speaker 1: The National Park Service says that this animal is best
- 23:53Speaker 1: described as a long nosed raccoon. They used that long
- 23:57Speaker 1: snout to root around in soil and leaf litter for food.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Their diet is similar to a raccoon, which is to
- 24:03Speaker 1: say that they'll eat anything as omnivores. They'll dine on fruits, nuts, insects, birds, eggs, lizards, snakes, grubs,
- 24:11Speaker 1: and more.
- 24:13Speaker 2: One of the best hunt days I've ever had was
- 24:15Speaker 2: because of a quadum Monday or Rick Smith and I
- 24:18Speaker 2: were posted up on a mountain and he is just
- 24:22Speaker 2: dead to the world. Saw on logs, and I'm watching
- 24:28Speaker 2: some deer and you know, really on alert figure and
- 24:33Speaker 2: something could happen at any time. And then I looked
- 24:35Speaker 2: down this old dozer grade and the only thing that
- 24:39Speaker 2: could come to mind was I'm slapping Rick, trying to
- 24:42Speaker 2: get him to wake up, because he's an international man
- 24:44Speaker 2: of mystery. He's been around the world like nineteen times.
- 24:46Speaker 2: I'm like, Rick, Rick, raccoon, monkey, raccoony. Amazing creature, amazing creature.
- 24:53Speaker 2: I guess they get eaten a lot, like people eat
- 24:55Speaker 2: them in Central America.
- 24:57Speaker 1: What was this one doing that you watched?
- 24:59Speaker 2: Just just came cruising down the road. It was awesome.
- 25:04Speaker 2: I was when we were in Mexico.
- 25:05Speaker 11: I was glass in the hillside and I came across
- 25:07Speaker 11: just this giant, furry black spot on the hillside, Like
- 25:14Speaker 11: what in the hell is that? And then finally they
- 25:17Speaker 11: all dispersed. It was fifteen of them, like all sleeping
- 25:20Speaker 11: together in like a ball. It was crazy cool.
- 25:25Speaker 6: Yeah, my folks are down poking around in Arizona right
- 25:27Speaker 6: now and their dog, Hank, kicked up like three of
- 25:31Speaker 6: them and they sent me a video. And I've never
- 25:34Speaker 6: seen that dog look so just like baffled, like he's
- 25:37Speaker 6: a woming dog. You've never seen a raccoon, let alone
- 25:41Speaker 6: see that. It was.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Raccoon's a good video. Raccoon monkeys fell. We're halfway through
- 25:46Speaker 1: the game of trivia. Give us a scoreboard update.
- 25:49Speaker 4: Everybody's on the board thanks to Seth, probably Kenzie and
- 25:54Speaker 4: Chester with one point apiece. Seth and Hansi have two,
- 25:57Speaker 4: Maggie has three, Randall has four, and up in first
- 26:00Speaker 4: place with perfect games are Brody and col mackenzie.
- 26:04Speaker 1: What do you think you would have put for that
- 26:05Speaker 1: last question if Seth didn't give you the.
- 26:08Speaker 10: Hint, I have no. I had not heard of that before.
- 26:11Speaker 10: I was thinking Alaska. I was also thinking down south,
- 26:14Speaker 10: because there's a lot more diversity down there. Chester.
- 26:17Speaker 1: How did Randall excuse me? How did Seth confused? He
- 26:20Speaker 1: didn't really put that on me.
- 26:22Speaker 7: Threw me off a little bit. I had Arizona in
- 26:25Speaker 7: my head before he said, you know, he just recently
- 26:31Speaker 7: saw one of those, so I thought Texas. But then
- 26:34Speaker 7: uh yeah, I stuck with my thing.
- 26:37Speaker 11: Is where I recently saw them was not in any
- 26:39Speaker 11: state Mexico, oh.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Mexico, but orders several states.
- 26:45Speaker 3: I wish you had traveled to Berea, Kentucky told us
- 26:49Speaker 3: all about that spelled differently five letters, but it would
- 26:52Speaker 3: have tipped me up.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Question six. The topic is cooking. A sushi roll filled
- 27:07Speaker 1: with salmon, cream cheese and avocado is named after this
- 27:11Speaker 1: East Coast city. A sushi roll filled with salmon, cream cheese,
- 27:18Speaker 1: and avocado is named after this East Coast city.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Anything with cream cheese is not sushi. Just get that
- 27:28Speaker 2: out there.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Seth, you have this one right, I put down a
- 27:33Speaker 1: city on the Randall you have this one, right, boy?
- 27:38Speaker 1: I hope so Brody and cal also look confident. Mackenzie,
- 27:41Speaker 1: you have this one right, Meg, you have this one right.
- 27:44Speaker 1: All right.
- 27:44Speaker 2: We're gonna load it with cream cheese, We're gonna deep that,
- 27:47Speaker 2: fry it, and then we're gonna coat it in mayo sushi.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Yeah, it looks like it'll be up to Hansey and Chester.
- 27:55Speaker 1: If this is a one hundred percent or not, go
- 27:58Speaker 1: ahead and reveal your answer. We have set saying Philly,
- 28:02Speaker 1: Hansi saying Philly, Chester saying Philly. Everybody said Philly. Everybody
- 28:06Speaker 1: got it right. The correct answer is Philadelphia. This sushi
- 28:10Speaker 1: role was created during a Philadelphia culinary competition in the
- 28:14Speaker 1: nineteen eighties. Although the city is famous for its cream cheese,
- 28:17Speaker 1: that cream cheese was actually invented in New York in
- 28:21Speaker 1: eighteen seventy two. The Philadelphia namesake was just a marketing
- 28:25Speaker 1: move to capitalize on the region's reputation for good dairy products.
- 28:29Speaker 1: If you want to learn more on how to make
- 28:31Speaker 1: your own sushi, then watch Kimmy Werner's video on the
- 28:33Speaker 1: medeater dot com called how to Make Sushi.
- 28:36Speaker 2: They were going to use a can of cream of
- 28:37Speaker 2: mushroom soup, but they couldn't quite get it to stick
- 28:40Speaker 2: on there.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Question seven the topic is conservation. This is our listener
- 28:45Speaker 1: question of the Week, which was won by Keith Jordan
- 28:47Speaker 1: for sending this great question. Keith is going to get
- 28:50Speaker 1: a board game signed by the crew. If you want
- 28:52Speaker 1: a chance to win our listener question of the week.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Then send your question to Trivia at the medeater dot com.
- 28:58Speaker 1: What country is home to forty percent of the world's
- 29:01Speaker 1: tropical rainforests and ten percent of the world's biodiversity. Phil
- 29:10Speaker 1: would like to speed the game up here, here's a
- 29:13Speaker 1: question again. The topic is conservation. What country is home
- 29:17Speaker 1: to forty percent of the world's tropical rainforests and ten
- 29:21Speaker 1: percent of the world's biodiversity? Cal who has a perfect
- 29:26Speaker 1: game going? Is changing his answer? Randall just one behind them, Brody,
- 29:33Speaker 1: Are you confident in your answer?
- 29:34Speaker 8: No? Okay, I mean this is a tough one.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Randall was quick to answer. I'll tell you that maybe
- 29:43Speaker 1: he's trying to.
- 29:43Speaker 8: Get it doesn't mean he got it right.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Ran Two. Did you get this one right?
- 29:49Speaker 8: I'm trying to.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Doubt huh, Africa? Yes, there you go. What country is
- 29:57Speaker 1: home to forty percent of the world's tropical rainforest in
- 30:01Speaker 1: ten percent of the world's biodiversity? Kenzie, do you have
- 30:09Speaker 1: an answer? I think we're waiting on ye. Everybody ready,
- 30:12Speaker 1: Chester are doing a little scribbling chess? Are we changing
- 30:16Speaker 1: an answer, clarifying an answer?
- 30:21Speaker 7: Changing an answer?
- 30:22Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Seth saying Brazil,
- 30:25Speaker 1: HANSI saying Brazil. Everybody says Brazil except Maggie. Maggie says
- 30:29Speaker 1: Costa Rica. The correct answer is Brazil.
- 30:34Speaker 6: At first I heard continents and I wrote down a
- 30:37Speaker 6: continent out. I was like, that's impossible, and then I
- 30:40Speaker 6: had to think of a country, and that's a man.
- 30:43Speaker 9: My brain short circuited right there.
- 30:46Speaker 3: I initially read it as county, and I thought it
- 30:49Speaker 3: was a very difficult question.
- 30:51Speaker 8: I asked, why you decided to include the biodesert diversity
- 30:55Speaker 8: part of it.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Just a little more details, I don't know, might throw
- 30:59Speaker 1: you off. You'd have to ask the.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Keith because like Madagascar and Borneo.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Keith didn't have that detail in there. I included that detail.
- 31:08Speaker 1: It's said that Brazil is the most biodiverse place on
- 31:11Speaker 1: Earth and is home to about two hundred thousand species
- 31:14Speaker 1: of plants and animals. A twenty fifteen paper said the
- 31:17Speaker 1: country is so vast and remote that some species of
- 31:20Speaker 1: birds have gone extinct there in our lifetime, before biologists
- 31:24Speaker 1: even knew they existed. It's estimated that twenty percent of
- 31:27Speaker 1: Brazil's rainforests have been removed. Kel you were talking about
- 31:30Speaker 1: earlier about those amphibians. You're like, yeah, maybe we don't
- 31:32Speaker 1: know about all the amphibians. Well, they're admitting in the
- 31:35Speaker 1: Brazilian rainforest, which is what the Amazon rainforest, that we
- 31:38Speaker 1: don't know about everything because stuff is disappearing before we
- 31:41Speaker 1: even knew it was there.
- 31:42Speaker 2: I'd like to have that same question for and just
- 31:46Speaker 2: just for my own personal knowledge regarding Central America. Just
- 31:51Speaker 2: move her down a little bit closer to the equator.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Be interesting.
- 31:55Speaker 1: Question eight. The topic is fishing. This country artist who
- 32:00Speaker 1: should have been a cowboy purchased lucky Strike lures in
- 32:03Speaker 1: twenty twenty three. This is question eight. We still have
- 32:09Speaker 1: a couple of perfect games going.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Say pop culture question, this is.
- 32:13Speaker 1: A fishing question. This country artist who should have been
- 32:17Speaker 1: a cowboy purchased lucky Strike lures in twenty twenty three.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Cal Is this going to keep the perfect game going? Yes, Brody,
- 32:26Speaker 1: is this going to keep the perfect game going?
- 32:28Speaker 8: Because I can't think of his damn name.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Okay, I can't think of his damn name. It's a
- 32:33Speaker 1: problem question is asked for some of us. It's a
- 32:36Speaker 1: problem for others. It's a blessing. Two perfect games going
- 32:43Speaker 1: through Question eight, Country artist who should have been a cowboy,
- 32:47Speaker 1: purchased Lucky Strike lures in twenty twenty one. There is
- 32:52Speaker 1: Cal handing out hints, filling in some more lyrics for folks. Seth,
- 32:58Speaker 1: you have this one, right?
- 33:00Speaker 2: I think so?
- 33:01Speaker 1: Maybe Chester with a blankboard or musician in the room.
- 33:06Speaker 6: I've recently heard the story of why he wrote that song.
- 33:10Speaker 1: There's a hint. It's a he that we just.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 33:15Speaker 1: So we've got about ten more words of lyrics from Cal,
- 33:18Speaker 1: and we've gendered him from Maggie. This country artist who
- 33:23Speaker 1: should have been a cowboy purchased Lucky Strike lures in
- 33:27Speaker 1: twenty twenty three. Brody, how we doing over here?
- 33:29Speaker 8: Not good?
- 33:31Speaker 1: You guys got any more hints for Brody? I would
- 33:34Speaker 1: suggest you not give them.
- 33:35Speaker 9: Well, it's a good I don't think there's any hints.
- 33:37Speaker 9: I'll wait until we revealed till I tell the story.
- 33:40Speaker 1: All right, Oh my gosh, Chester, our musician and fishermen
- 33:48Speaker 1: are singing. Fisherman does not have an answer.
- 33:51Speaker 3: Songwriter, I think is you'll probably want to be known
- 33:55Speaker 3: as a.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Songwriter, songwriter, singer artist.
- 34:00Speaker 8: All Right, I'm not He's not gonna come to me.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Go ahead, reveal your answers. We have set saying Toby Keith,
- 34:08Speaker 1: saying Luke Combs god Chester without an answer, Randa saying
- 34:12Speaker 1: Toby Keith, McKenzie saying Toby Keith, cal Maggie and Brody
- 34:16Speaker 1: sang Toby Keith. They got it. The correct answer is
- 34:20Speaker 1: Toby Keith.
- 34:21Speaker 9: So here's the story.
- 34:23Speaker 6: Toby Keith was in the bar after hunting, wearing camo
- 34:26Speaker 6: with his buddies, trying to get these girls to dance
- 34:29Speaker 6: with them. Wouldn't dance with them. They were dancing with
- 34:31Speaker 6: the cowboys wearing Western shirts and whatnot. You know, his
- 34:35Speaker 6: buddy looked at him and was like, man, should have
- 34:37Speaker 6: been a cowboy.
- 34:39Speaker 9: Went home, wrote the song top the charts.
- 34:42Speaker 1: There we go nice.
- 34:44Speaker 9: Should have been a cowboy doesn't learn First Light.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Lucky Strike made the puzzling decision in their press release
- 34:53Speaker 1: to say that the company was in disarray before last
- 34:56Speaker 1: year's acquisition. Keith was quoted on their website saying Lucky
- 35:00Speaker 1: Strike needed focus and vision, and that he was there
- 35:02Speaker 1: to pick up the pieces. Part of their rebrand was
- 35:05Speaker 1: a new patriotic logo that's red, white and blue. Keith
- 35:08Speaker 1: died last week at the age of sixty two.
- 35:11Speaker 8: Well, what are some famous lures that company makes.
- 35:14Speaker 1: I'm not aware of much Lucky Strike. You know they're
- 35:16Speaker 1: like in walmarts though, like they're sold around the country,
- 35:18Speaker 1: But as far as a specific thing they've created, I
- 35:20Speaker 1: couldn't tell you. Phil. We have two questions left. Give
- 35:24Speaker 1: us a scoreboard update.
- 35:27Speaker 4: Chester, McKenzie, Hansei, Seth and Maggie are not in the
- 35:32Speaker 4: running for the win. We've got Randall with seven points
- 35:35Speaker 4: and still tied up in first place with perfect games
- 35:38Speaker 4: are Brody and cow Phil.
- 35:41Speaker 2: What do I have?
- 35:42Speaker 9: One?
- 35:42Speaker 1: Is Chester for our one dollar bet on the side?
- 35:46Speaker 2: Seth has five, Chester has three.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Oh. Chester, You'll need to get these both correct questions.
- 35:57Speaker 1: That Lucky Strike press release was really fast. That they
- 36:00Speaker 1: said the company was in disarray. Imagine if when we
- 36:02Speaker 1: bought like First Lighter, Dave Smith, this or decoys. But boy,
- 36:06Speaker 1: they were a total mess. Good thing we're here and
- 36:10Speaker 1: they kept around most of the leadership. Lucky Strike did
- 36:13Speaker 1: great press release. Question nine. The topic is hunting. This
- 36:16Speaker 1: next great question comes to is via Peter Peter Hawthorne.
- 36:20Speaker 1: The National Deer Association describes this deer condition as quote
- 36:24Speaker 1: a genetic mutation that causes patches of white hair. The
- 36:31Speaker 1: National Deer Association describes this deer condition as quote a
- 36:36Speaker 1: genetic mutation that causes patches of white hair seth or
- 36:43Speaker 1: are you gonna put away Chester with your answer?
- 36:45Speaker 7: Here?
- 36:47Speaker 10: Ah?
- 36:48Speaker 1: Yes, you get either of these last two rites. You
- 36:51Speaker 1: just win the one dollar bet. What are you gonna
- 36:53Speaker 1: spend that buck on?
- 36:56Speaker 2: I don't know. Maybe we'll go double or nothing on
- 36:59Speaker 2: every ground.
- 37:00Speaker 7: I know this too.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Yeah, it's funny that you haven't wrote down an answer.
- 37:04Speaker 7: I was weird. I was just talking to someone about
- 37:07Speaker 7: this the other day.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Really, yeah, it was maybe don't.
- 37:14Speaker 7: It was my brother in law, Todd, and he was
- 37:18Speaker 7: talking about this deer he saw in northern Wisconsin with
- 37:23Speaker 7: some white patches on it, and he was confused.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Don't give out too many.
- 37:29Speaker 7: He couldn't shoot it because he thought it might be blank.
- 37:34Speaker 7: But it wasn't, in fact not blank. It was, in
- 37:38Speaker 7: fact this word that we're looking for, and I can't
- 37:41Speaker 7: think of it.
- 37:42Speaker 1: You don't watch answer. You may have confused folks. Actually
- 37:46Speaker 1: this is a strong story.
- 37:49Speaker 6: I have.
- 37:51Speaker 8: I got a question and I can't and ask it.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Randall likes where he's sitting with. I just cannot Callum
- 37:58Speaker 1: Brodie there's another term.
- 38:01Speaker 8: Do you care to embellish on the type of answer
- 38:05Speaker 8: you're looking for?
- 38:06Speaker 1: I do not. Is everybody ready just then I'll just
- 38:11Speaker 1: argue if I'm wrong, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 38:15Speaker 1: We have Seth saying piebald, Hansei saying elbinism, Chester without
- 38:20Speaker 1: an answer, Randall saying piebald, Mackenzie saying elbinism, Cal saying
- 38:24Speaker 1: del Mesha, Maggie saying piebaldism, Brody saying piebald. The correct
- 38:31Speaker 1: answer is piebaldism or lucistic is a form of lucis.
- 38:38Speaker 2: I wrote down my original answer.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Mackenzie was cheating and saw that you wrote.
- 38:48Speaker 2: If I was cheating, I thought piebald was just the face.
- 38:53Speaker 8: Watch it's all over.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Well if it's but I think it's like a weird.
- 38:58Speaker 8: It's like a very informal term for a genetic condition.
- 39:01Speaker 2: Well, yeah, because you know a horse that is horses,
- 39:07Speaker 2: but that's what they're bred for, and they're not. They
- 39:10Speaker 2: are no longer referred to as a piebald.
- 39:12Speaker 6: Sometimes they are.
- 39:16Speaker 2: You're like, uh, it's a piebald apple losa, So.
- 39:20Speaker 6: Like paint horses, it's technically piebald doesn't. But what do
- 39:24Speaker 6: you call them paint horses? Because that's just the vocabulary
- 39:29Speaker 6: we use.
- 39:30Speaker 9: But it's like a genetic.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Deer.
- 39:36Speaker 9: I want to know more about Dalmatia. What what what's that?
- 39:40Speaker 2: I think that's a real word.
- 39:42Speaker 1: It's it's a region.
- 39:46Speaker 3: On the Adriatic.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Piebald deer will have blotches of white fur while maintaining
- 39:51Speaker 1: their normal eye, nose, and hoof color. Albino deer will
- 39:55Speaker 1: have completely white coats with pink eyes, pink noses, pink
- 39:59Speaker 1: or white hoof, and pink or white velvet. It's estimated
- 40:03Speaker 1: that about one in one thousand deer are piebald and
- 40:06Speaker 1: one in thirty thousand deer are albino.
- 40:09Speaker 6: You can read my recent article on the meadeater dot
- 40:12Speaker 6: com about it piebald elk that was recently shot in
- 40:16Speaker 6: New Mexico.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Thank you, Maggie, very good and cal. Yeah, the piebald thing.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Sometimes it's like ten percent of deer, like you'll see
- 40:23Speaker 1: some extra white around their legs. Other deer like covers
- 40:26Speaker 1: ninety percent of them they turn white, not limited to
- 40:30Speaker 1: just yeah one.
- 40:30Speaker 2: I mean that's like part of the deal. Like I
- 40:33Speaker 2: shot a dough this year that had white around her hooks,
- 40:37Speaker 2: and I wasn't taking pictures on Instagram or telling people
- 40:41Speaker 2: you know what, it sounds.
- 40:42Speaker 1: Like a you problem. Well, we have one question left.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Who is left in the game.
- 40:48Speaker 4: Calan Randall have eight points and in first place. Brody
- 40:51Speaker 4: Henderson has nine points.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Perfect game on the line for Brody Tye.
- 40:56Speaker 3: This blee hotch up better be a good ten Harrispencer inten.
- 41:01Speaker 1: The topic is woodsmanship. This climate pattern translates to little
- 41:06Speaker 1: Girl in Spanish and refers to when strong trade winds
- 41:09Speaker 1: push warm water towards Asia.
- 41:12Speaker 2: Wow.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Brody very very confident in his answer. It may close
- 41:18Speaker 1: out the perfect game for him distance himself from cal
- 41:22Speaker 1: and Randall. This climate pattern translates to little girl in
- 41:25Speaker 1: Spanish and refers to win strong trade winds push warm
- 41:29Speaker 1: water towards Asia.
- 41:30Speaker 2: We better do the tiebreaker just for fun, because this
- 41:33Speaker 2: is such a letdown. I'm not gonna lie.
- 41:35Speaker 10: It is a little anti climact.
- 41:37Speaker 1: Everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 41:41Speaker 1: set saying al Nino han, Lanina Chester saying Lanina, Randall
- 41:47Speaker 1: saying Lanina, Mackenzie saying Lanina. Everyone says Lenina. They got it.
- 41:52Speaker 1: The correct answer was Lanina. He did the male version
- 41:58Speaker 1: El Nino.
- 41:59Speaker 9: You reach is wrong on your Spanish down in Mexico.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Lanina's powers felt across North America. Typically this results in
- 42:09Speaker 1: a drought in the southern United States, heavy rain in
- 42:12Speaker 1: the Pacific Northwest, colder temps in the north, warmer temps
- 42:16Speaker 1: in the south in a more severe hurricane season. Lanina
- 42:20Speaker 1: also creates colder, more nutrient rich waters off of North
- 42:23Speaker 1: America's west coast, which is beneficial for squid and salmon.
- 42:27Speaker 1: Noah predicts will transition from El Nino to Lanina in
- 42:31Speaker 1: the summer of twenty twenty four. Brody is our winner
- 42:36Speaker 1: with the perfect game ten.
- 42:37Speaker 2: Let's get that Tyrek.
- 42:40Speaker 8: We're going let's see the tiebreaker and nf Cowwn's the
- 42:44Speaker 8: tiebreaker will split the thousand bucks between two different conservations.
- 42:48Speaker 2: That sounds like a great idea. I bet, I bet
- 42:50Speaker 2: folks on YouTube, but really be into that? Can I
- 42:53Speaker 2: play along?
- 42:55Speaker 6: I split it?
- 42:56Speaker 1: Three nine, you're gonna twist my armor. I guess we'll
- 43:00Speaker 1: do a tie breaker. We've I think we've once done
- 43:04Speaker 1: a tie breaker just for the fun of it, and
- 43:06Speaker 1: that was during the Wives and Girlfriends.
- 43:08Speaker 8: The listeners that lame question.
- 43:13Speaker 1: Ten Okay, Seth, you got the lame question wrong. Here
- 43:18Speaker 1: is the tie breaking. The topic is cooking. According to
- 43:29Speaker 1: the us DA, how many calories are in a raw
- 43:33Speaker 1: three ounce serving of wild caught channel catfish?
- 43:37Speaker 2: Phenomenal question question?
- 43:39Speaker 1: All right, do you see the difference according to the
- 43:44Speaker 1: us DA, how many calories are in a raw three
- 43:47Speaker 1: ounce serving of wild caught channel catfish?
- 43:50Speaker 2: Caw?
- 43:50Speaker 1: This could just be for real if you'd stuck with pieball.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Participate in this your questions. More fun means nothing, wouldn't
- 44:00Speaker 1: mean that dollar just the closest. This is not prices,
- 44:03Speaker 1: right a three ounce serving of right it to It's
- 44:08Speaker 1: just the measurements.
- 44:10Speaker 8: It's like if you're getting a bunch of catfish bites
- 44:13Speaker 8: for one sandwich.
- 44:15Speaker 1: It's too big for a bite. It's just like the
- 44:18Speaker 1: new standard nutritional measurements.
- 44:20Speaker 2: Do you have a prep for your answer? What it
- 44:23Speaker 2: would be like from an actual sitsolutely?
- 44:26Speaker 1: Do well? From a fish farm? I have the fish
- 44:29Speaker 1: farm difference. Write your answer to point one decimal places
- 44:34Speaker 1: that way. That way we have a winner for certainers
- 44:40Speaker 1: out there for all to see. Maggie, go ahead and participate.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Everybody ready, can we do it prices right style or
- 44:53Speaker 1: you can't go over. I don't think so. I really
- 44:55Speaker 1: dislike the prices. That's just an excuse for them to
- 44:57Speaker 1: give away less money when they do that. That's what's
- 45:00Speaker 1: one on there, Go ahead, Oh hold on, we're still
- 45:03Speaker 1: waiting on count on a dollar. You're up a dollar.
- 45:07Speaker 1: It strikes me that we could wager that, we wager that,
- 45:10Speaker 1: Oh wow, you're who is who is closer?
- 45:14Speaker 6: Sure?
- 45:14Speaker 1: Okay, okay, So Seth is won the bet with Chester,
- 45:18Speaker 1: and now it may wind up that Chester ends up
- 45:20Speaker 1: paying Hansei because Hansey is now doing a one dollar
- 45:22Speaker 1: bet with Seth as to who is closer on this tiebreaker?
- 45:25Speaker 1: Is everybody ready? Yeah, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 45:30Speaker 1: We have Seth saying ninety point one, Hansei saying ninety
- 45:34Speaker 1: point zero, Chester saying one hundred point zero, Randall saying
- 45:38Speaker 1: ninety seven point one, Mackenzie saying one, seventeen point zero,
- 45:44Speaker 1: Cal saying twenty one, Maggie saying thirty point two, Brody
- 45:48Speaker 1: saying one eighty eight point zero. The correct answer is
- 45:54Speaker 1: eighty point eight. Cat from Chester eighty point eight. I
- 46:03Speaker 1: think HANSI was the closest. He was nine point two
- 46:08Speaker 1: calories off. Brody and Cal went with the widest spectrum
- 46:13Speaker 1: in the room. They gave us the lowest highest answer.
- 46:17Speaker 8: Well, are we going to donate this money to someone?
- 46:20Speaker 2: Spencer?
- 46:21Speaker 1: Now, that is twenty calories less than a channel catfish
- 46:24Speaker 1: that came from a fish farm. So your wild caught
- 46:27Speaker 1: channel catfish has twenty fewer calories than a fish farm.
- 46:31Speaker 2: Work.
- 46:33Speaker 1: Brody has one thousand dollars to donate because of his
- 46:36Speaker 1: perfect game. Brody, where is that one thousand dollars?
- 46:39Speaker 8: We haven't dumped any money into the land Access initiative
- 46:43Speaker 8: in a while, so let's do.
- 46:44Speaker 1: That thousand dollars going to the LAI. Are we going
- 46:48Speaker 1: to have another project this year?
- 46:49Speaker 2: Cal, I'm jumping the gun a little bit here, but
- 46:53Speaker 2: it's gonna be mid to late March. Okay, is our
- 46:59Speaker 2: next auction?
- 47:01Speaker 1: Oh all right? The next auction house of audities to March.
- 47:04Speaker 8: You haven't zoned into, sorry I have, so that that
- 47:08Speaker 8: was the actual question.
- 47:09Speaker 2: Timing is going to be mid to eight March for
- 47:11Speaker 2: the fundraising efforts. But we got bills due on the
- 47:16Speaker 2: Wyoming Corner crossing case and the reason that that is
- 47:19Speaker 2: perfect for the land Access initiative is because as it's
- 47:23Speaker 2: made its way up through the federal courts, it can
- 47:26Speaker 2: have national impacts. Here, So in Wyoming alone two point
- 47:35Speaker 2: four million acres of just corner.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Locked, the most of any state in the public ground.
- 47:41Speaker 2: And then we're at like one point seven I think
- 47:45Speaker 2: in Montana one point seven million of actual like corner locked.
- 47:49Speaker 2: Where as we all know, it takes a footstep to
- 47:54Speaker 2: get from public to public without ever infringing on somebody's
- 47:58Speaker 2: private property.
- 47:59Speaker 6: Right.
- 47:59Speaker 2: So this is a clear just use of our access
- 48:04Speaker 2: money for big access impacts.
- 48:08Speaker 1: One thousand dollars going to the Meat Eater Land Access Initiative.
- 48:12Speaker 1: We have the auction House of Oddities coming up in
- 48:14Speaker 1: about a month from now. Join us next time for
- 48:17Speaker 1: more Meat Eater Trivia, the only game show where conservation
- 48:20Speaker 1: always wins,
