Ep. 180. Spooky Marvel Characters for the Halloween · Vigilante Vibes Podcast

• 0:11
Hello Marvel fans, comic geeks, and all the nerds in between.
• 0:14
I am Megan with vigilante vibes and I am here on this fine
• 0:18
Halloween to talk to you about Marvel's creepiest and spookiest
• 0:24
characters that you may have heard of, that you may not have
• 0:27
heard of just to get into the Halloween spirit.
• 0:29
So for start off this list, I want to talk about Hallows Eve.
• 0:34
She doesn't get talked about enough, but she is very much a
• 0:38
Halloween character created by Erica Schultz.
• 0:42
She is, she's debuted in Spider man #14 and she's a fun
• 0:48
character. I really liked her in the Blood
• 0:50
Hunt events that happened last year.
• 0:54
Couldn't have been this year, last year, last year, Hallows
• 0:57
Eve. That's the new identity of
• 0:59
Janine Godbee, the longtime loyal girlfriend of Ben Riley.
• 1:04
She's been through so much in her life.
• 1:06
She's been a villain. She's been a village of Atlante.
• 1:08
  She's very, she's a very fun character.
• 1:10
So I'd like to see more of her. And I'm actually kind of bummed
• 1:13
we haven't for Halloween. What can you do, though?
• 1:17
So the next one, Ghost Rider. We all know Ghost Rider.
• 1:21
At least you know something about Ghost Rider.
• 1:23
You know that he made a deal with the devil to save his dad,
• 1:28
then his dad ended up dying anyways, so now he is Ghost
• 1:32
Rider. He has a flaming skull and a
• 1:35
pendant stare that makes Ghost Riders target feel every bit of
• 1:39
pain they've ever inflicted onto others.
• 1:41
And this is one hero that no one wants to see coming.
• 1:46
And I love, I love ghost Rider, I love Frick, I love Ghost
• 1:49
rider. I want to see Charlie Hunnam as
• 1:51
Ghost Rider so bad. Next One Next One Sleepwalker, A
• 1:56
being from the Mindscape dimension, Sleepwalker was
• 2:00
tasked with protecting sentient creatures while they slept from
• 2:04
other beings that would try to enter them through their dreams.
• 2:08
After being trapped inside the mind of a college student by one
• 2:11
of his foes, Sleepwalker decided to use his powers to fight evil
• 2:16
on Earth. Now, when Rick Sheridan sleeps,
• 2:19
the Sleepwalker rises. While the appearance of the
• 2:23
Sleepwalker creates fear and innocent people, he has no
• 2:26
desire to hurt them, only to protect them from the darkness
• 2:29
of the world. I really got to make a character
• 2:31
breakdown video of him because he is.
• 2:33
He's a creepy dude. The next one, son of Satan,
• 2:37
Damien Hellstrom. He may not look creepy, but I
• 2:41
can promise you the son of Satan is very creepy.
• 2:44
Hellstrom was created by his father to bring about the
• 2:47
destruction of mankind, but he chose instead to fight against
• 2:51
his lineage and protect humanity from the demons of hell.
• 2:55
When dressed in everyday clothing, you wouldn't really
• 2:57
think that Damon was anything more than just some regular guy.
• 3:01
However, when he removes a shirt, a giant pentagram
• 3:04
birthmark goes across his chest so you'd know the next one.
• 3:09
Morbius. Do I have to go into detail
• 3:13
about Morbius? I mean, born with a rare blood
• 3:18
condition, Morbius attempted to use the DNA of a vampire bat to
• 3:21
create a cure, but instead inflicted himself with the
• 3:25
  bloodthirsty traits of the supernatural.
• 3:27
Vampirism. We've all seen the movie this.
• 3:33
To be fair, he's he's a fun comic character.
• 3:36
The movie was a disaster. Blade.
• 3:40
We all know Blade. That is my next one.
• 3:44
When Tara Brooks began to suffer complications while giving birth
• 3:47
of doctors called in. The doctor was in actuality the
• 3:52
vampire Deacon Frost, who fed on Tara as she gave life to her
• 3:56
child. Tara's child Eric would grow up
• 4:00
without a mother and a deep hatred for vampires.
• 4:04
The vampire enzymes that Deacon Frost transferred into Tara as
• 4:08
he fed on her affected Eric, making him immune to vampire
• 4:11
bites and hypnosis. When Blade was bitten by
• 4:14
Morbius, he gained superhuman strength, stamina, speed,
• 4:19
agility, heightened senses, and a rapid healing factor.
• 4:23
So he is a very cool character if you don't know.
• 4:26
Another one I thought would be fun to throw in there.
• 4:28
  Venom. He's a creepy character.
• 4:31
  He's a weirdo. I like it.
• 4:33
One that I feel like doesn't get talked about too much is Man
• 4:36
Thing. While working to create recreate
• 4:40
the Super soldier serum to that gave birth to Captain America,
• 4:43
Doctor Ted Salas was attacked by agents of AIM.
• 4:47
Hoping that his serum would help him, Doctor Salas injected his
• 4:52
work into himself, but he ended up crashing his car into a
• 4:55
swamp. In the swamp, Doctor Salas's
• 4:58
body transformed into a large lumbering green plant, like
• 5:01
being with large red eyes. Now known as the Man Thing, the
• 5:05
tragic Dr. prefers to be left alone in his swamp, but will
• 5:10
come out to fight those who threaten the world when needed.
• 5:14
I last saw this beautiful character in GAIL Simone's
• 5:18
Uncanny X-Men. If you have not checked that
• 5:21
out, 100% do it. It's such a good run.
• 5:25
So the next one, and we're, we're getting pretty close to
• 5:28
the end of the list here, Man Wolf, a NASA astronaut and son
• 5:33
of Daily Bugle publisher J Jonah Jameson.
• 5:36
John Jonah Jameson was sent on the top secret mission to the
• 5:39
moon where he discovered a red gem.
• 5:42
By the time he returned to Earth, John had become obsessed
• 5:45
with the gem and with the help of his friend, stole it from the
• 5:48
NASA lab. John turned the gem into a
• 5:51
Pennant and wore it around his neck because that seems like the
• 5:53
right thing to do on the night of a full moon.
• 5:56
When the light of the Earth's natural satellite hit the
• 5:59
pendant, John turned into Man Wolf.
• 6:02
Now John haunts the streets of Manhattan when the moon was
• 6:06
full. He searches for a way to undo
• 6:08
the curse that had been put upon him.
• 6:11
He has learned to control the Man Wolf form and uses it to
• 6:13
help the heroes when the moon is full.
• 6:16
So that's Man Wolf. If you didn't know, Jay, John
• 6:19
Jameson has a son. Now you do.
• 6:22
So my last one that, I mean, he's not a Halloween character,
• 6:27
but I just love him. So Moon Knight, we all know
• 6:31
about Moon Knight. His disassociative personality
• 6:34
  disorder. Well, his disassociative
• 6:37
identity disorder, sorry. Mark Spector was on a mission in
• 6:43
Egypt when he was mortally wounded trying to save others.
• 6:46
The dying Mark was placed under an idol of Konshu who spoke to
• 6:51
Mark's spirits. It was all very dramatic.
• 6:53
Konshu promised to save Mark's life if Mark agreed to become a
• 6:56
servant. Mark agreed and upon returning
• 6:59
to New York, designed the Moon Knight persona.
• 7:04
Under the guidance of Konshu, Moon Knight takes on cases of
• 7:08
the paranormal that no other hero can make sense of.
• 7:11
While he will work with other heroes if necessary, Moon Knight
• 7:15
prefers to go at it alone, wearing a bright white costume.
• 7:18
So they'll see me coming. But also he has a bait comic run
• 7:24
going on right now, Moon Night Fist of Con Shoe by Jed McKay
• 7:28
that if you haven't checked out like it was made for Moon night
• 7:31
fans, It's fantastic. I'm really digging it.
• 7:35
I think we're on last week was the 13th issue.
• 7:40
  So there's a it's it's already got a healthy amount going into
• 7:43
it. So yeah, check all that out.
• 7:47
Those are my Halloween those who I or who I think of when I think
• 7:53
  of Halloween. I I don't know.
• 7:55
There's so many characters in the Marvel Universe.
• 7:57
I just I just picked the ones I like.
• 8:00
So if you have any characters that all of us should be
• 8:03
checking out this spooky time of the year Halloween, let me know
• 8:07
in the comments. With that being said, be sure to
• 8:10
like and subscribe and have a marvelous day.
