--> 00:00:18,000 Welcome everybody! 6 00:00:18,000 --> 00:00:21,000 Welcome to this week's edition of "The Real Bus Show" 7 00:00:21,000 --> 00:00:25,000 Episode number 775 or December 19 of 2024 8 00:00:25,000 --> 00:00:33,000 Welcome to your 2020 Borough Wrestling Recap Special Edition of "SR-T-U" 9 00:00:33,000 --> 00:00:40,000 I am one after show, I am Jeff Bekk, going to every single week with my co-host, the lonely doctor Frank Lenn 10 00:00:40,000 --> 00:00:44,000 Dr. Trey, are you ready to look back at 2014 my friend? 11 00:00:44,000 --> 00:00:48,000 Yeah, it's crazy that we're here. 12 00:00:48,000 --> 00:00:53,000 It feels like just yesterday we were doing the war shows for the COVID era 13 00:00:53,000 --> 00:00:58,000 I didn't think that's been a few years ago now, it's like crap, it's really flown by 14 00:00:58,000 --> 00:01:05,000 I do have all my dry cleaning getting prepared for the award show day 15 00:01:05,000 --> 00:01:09,000 So all that stuff is ready to go as we get through the holiday schedule 16 00:01:09,000 --> 00:01:14,000 But yeah, looking back, being nostalgic about what a great year in professional wrestling was 17 00:01:14,000 --> 00:01:17,000 I'm pretty excited to actually sit down and talk about it 18 00:01:17,000 --> 00:01:22,000 And even Jeff, I'm even excited to hear my bowl predictions and my voice on tape 19 00:01:22,000 --> 00:01:24,000 I'm even excited for that 20 00:01:24,000 --> 00:01:27,000 Wow, this is usually the show that Dr. Trey dreads 21 00:01:27,000 --> 00:01:29,000 It was always you said, what did you call yourself? 22 00:01:29,000 --> 00:01:31,000 Like a Southern Kermit the Frog? 23 00:01:31,000 --> 00:01:33,000 I always remember that line 24 00:01:33,000 --> 00:01:34,000 As a redneck muppet 25 00:01:34,000 --> 00:01:35,000 That's what it was 26 00:01:35,000 --> 00:01:36,000 That's what it was 27 00:01:36,000 --> 00:01:37,000 As a redneck muppet, it's kind of what I sound like 28 00:01:37,000 --> 00:01:41,000 But then I hear it, my accent isn't that bad actually 29 00:01:41,000 --> 00:01:50,000 So it's just that when I get excited, my voice, because I have done more training on in the shoot job, the real life job 30 00:01:50,000 --> 00:01:52,000 I have to record myself training people 31 00:01:52,000 --> 00:01:56,000 And I'm like, yes, I'm excited, my voice gets higher pitched 32 00:01:56,000 --> 00:02:00,000 And when I'm having to defend an opinion, my voice gets higher pitched 33 00:02:00,000 --> 00:02:05,000 But when I'm relaxed and calm, man, I sound like Jeff Peck on, you know, on weed 34 00:02:05,000 --> 00:02:08,000 Just like all chill and deep and gravely 35 00:02:08,000 --> 00:02:10,000 And ladies just throwing panties at me 36 00:02:10,000 --> 00:02:14,000 You know what's wild is when you listen back to like some of the old episodes of SRT 37 00:02:14,000 --> 00:02:16,000 And like both our voices 38 00:02:16,000 --> 00:02:18,000 So, so damn different 39 00:02:18,000 --> 00:02:24,000 Because it's just, I don't know, maturity getting older, mileage from both of us 40 00:02:24,000 --> 00:02:30,000 It's wild, but this is the show where we, where we look for those that are new 41 00:02:30,000 --> 00:02:34,000 This is part of the holiday programming schedule that we do every year and a year 42 00:02:34,000 --> 00:02:37,000 So this is our rest in recap special 43 00:02:37,000 --> 00:02:43,000 On next week's show on the 26th, the day after Christmas is our 2024 SRT award show special 44 00:02:43,000 --> 00:02:45,000 That is the last episode of 2024 45 00:02:45,000 --> 00:02:53,000 And then in two weeks time on January the second it will be our 2025 wrestling preview special 46 00:02:53,000 --> 00:02:59,000 So we recap, hand out awards and look ahead for the upcoming year in the world professional wrestling 47 00:02:59,000 --> 00:03:04,000 And some of my favorite times of the year were when Dr. Trin and I get that opportunity to just kind of like sit back, relax 48 00:03:04,000 --> 00:03:09,000 Take everything all in, look back, look at the present, look forward 49 00:03:09,000 --> 00:03:11,000 And it's just a fun time of the year 50 00:03:11,000 --> 00:03:17,000 I'm excited to be here Dr. Trin to kick things off on our rest in recap special 51 00:03:17,000 --> 00:03:22,000 And you kind of like dipped your hat there a little bit in the beginning where I was going to ask you 52 00:03:22,000 --> 00:03:28,000 When we look back overall the entire scope of professional wrestling in 2024 53 00:03:28,000 --> 00:03:31,000 Give me like your overall thoughts 54 00:03:31,000 --> 00:03:35,000 And if you had to give 2024 a letter grade 55 00:03:35,000 --> 00:03:43,000 Let's throw it out there and then also compare this year 2024 to the last 14 years of covering SRT use 56 00:03:43,000 --> 00:03:50,000 So from 2010 onwards where would you rank 2024 in the world of professional wrestling 57 00:03:50,000 --> 00:03:54,000 I love that you come to me and you're like you know compare this last 14 years in off air 58 00:03:54,000 --> 00:03:59,000 We were talking baseball a little bit and I literally forgot to aim a shodah maga from the cops 59 00:03:59,000 --> 00:04:00,000 Yeah, yeah 60 00:04:00,000 --> 00:04:06,000 So yeah Dr. Trin, let's look at back in the last 14 years off the top of your head 61 00:04:06,000 --> 00:04:15,000 This year like wrestling was really really strong like it was strong across you know most borders I would say 62 00:04:15,000 --> 00:04:20,000 If you look at if you break it down into like it's a bad pun major league wrestling 63 00:04:20,000 --> 00:04:22,000 Like the top level of professional wrestling 64 00:04:22,000 --> 00:04:26,000 I thought overall between WWE, AEW, TNA 65 00:04:26,000 --> 00:04:31,000 Yeah, there are some flaws but overall I thought wrestlers were really good the triple-A tier 66 00:04:31,000 --> 00:04:38,000 Whether it's the GCWs, MLWs, that level I thought those are really strong like wrestling even down the independence 67 00:04:38,000 --> 00:04:46,000 Wrestling was really strong across the board I mean the talent's getting better 68 00:04:46,000 --> 00:04:49,000 The storylines are typically getting better 69 00:04:49,000 --> 00:05:00,000 The exposure that wrestling is getting on a national scale is getting better I mean you're seeing deals getting moved left and right to go to different streaming platforms 70 00:05:00,000 --> 00:05:04,000 And you know going to different networks and things like that to get more highs on the product 71 00:05:04,000 --> 00:05:07,000 And you only get to do that when there's demand 72 00:05:07,000 --> 00:05:14,000 If you compare to yours past you think of times when like TNA was leaving spike to go to Destation America 73 00:05:14,000 --> 00:05:23,000 And then ended up on some obscure channel that we had a hard time finding because it only was in like 40,000 homes 74 00:05:23,000 --> 00:05:29,000 You know and other places weren't able to get deals and stuff like wrestling's in a much better spot 75 00:05:29,000 --> 00:05:38,000 Like the storytelling in WWE and even the storytelling in some of the other show like programs like on the triple-A and double-A levels are really really good 76 00:05:38,000 --> 00:05:44,000 The talent and this is something I've been harping off the last seven, eight years we've seen it coming 77 00:05:44,000 --> 00:05:55,000 The talent has never been better than it is right now I mean all these shows whether it's TNA, AEW, WWE they are so deep on their respective brands 78 00:05:55,000 --> 00:06:04,000 Now mind you they have budgetary constraints but just the depth on all of these shows is just incredible to years past 79 00:06:04,000 --> 00:06:10,000 I mean we don't have Jeff gushing over a large Sullivan type person right now 80 00:06:10,000 --> 00:06:17,000 Like you see a prospect like that guy is going to be a star there's not a question about it like on some of these people 81 00:06:17,000 --> 00:06:22,000 The depth and the women's division you know across all the brands are really good 82 00:06:22,000 --> 00:06:25,000 The depth and the tag team divisions across these brands are really good 83 00:06:25,000 --> 00:06:34,000 I mean it's just amazing the depth and quality of wrestling across the world right now is probably as good as it has ever been 84 00:06:34,000 --> 00:06:39,000 And that's coming from somebody who grew up during the attitude era more so than just about anybody else 85 00:06:39,000 --> 00:06:43,000 Yeah it's been a really good year for professional wrestling 86 00:06:43,000 --> 00:06:50,000 I think it's to me if I'm giving a letter grade for this year to try, I'm giving it an A overall 87 00:06:50,000 --> 00:07:05,000 And I think when I look back at the last 14 years of SRTU in the years that we've covered I think 2024 may be the best year of professional wrestling in the 14 years of covering it here on the Storrilo Show podcast 88 00:07:05,000 --> 00:07:17,000 I just I can't think of a time when I would put on WWE raw or Smackdown even NXT this past year where I was 89 00:07:17,000 --> 00:07:30,000 You know that not everything creative is a knock out of the park but the show overall is always very good it's always very captivated and it always keeps me entertained 90 00:07:30,000 --> 00:07:36,000 We haven't had stretches where we went from one pay-per-view to another where I'm like well this has been a really bad build 91 00:07:36,000 --> 00:07:41,000 I'm not really looking forward to this match this is leaving a lot left on the table that I want to see 92 00:07:41,000 --> 00:07:46,000 I just felt like WWE was consistently good all year long 93 00:07:46,000 --> 00:07:50,000 AEW had their abs and flows and will certainly get to them here momentarily 94 00:07:50,000 --> 00:08:00,000 TNA wrestling was on the rise and then the little brands that are out there the GCW's the MLW's they had a successful year as well building upwards 95 00:08:00,000 --> 00:08:07,000 And it just felt like wrestling overall was booming and that's very exciting for guys like you and I who are a long time wrestling fans 96 00:08:07,000 --> 00:08:17,000 Because yeah we do live in nostalgia we do live in the past we're coming off a Saturday nights main event this past week and it it it just we always go back and go well it's not the attitude 97 00:08:17,000 --> 00:08:25,000 Error it's not the attitude error it's not the attitude error this time frame right now I think is something that in 10 years time 20 years time 98 00:08:25,000 --> 00:08:35,000 I as a wrestling fan look back at fondly as an era in WWE programming alone and that's really exciting that's really fun 99 00:08:35,000 --> 00:08:46,000 So professional wrestling's had a really good year overall I give it an A and I think 2024 Dr. Tray may be the best year we've ever covered in professional wrestling 100 00:08:46,000 --> 00:08:58,000 Yeah I mean I was looking back thinking about like all the times we've been covering the show and there's been a couple of good years in there but there's always something to kind of drug it down you know 101 00:08:58,000 --> 00:09:07,000 I would probably give it an A minus maybe slightly a knock less you and that's only because I feel like one of the shows kind of 102 00:09:07,000 --> 00:09:18,000 Hold some of the other stuff down a little bit I guess and then you know I always look for like is there that guy that kind of has broken out from the pack 103 00:09:18,000 --> 00:09:36,000 You know I always want that breakout star whether it was a scene during his day whether it was a Daniel Bryan during his time in WWE whether it was you know when Roman in the bloodline first found it you know first came out I don't know if anybody really broke out and separated themselves from everybody else I don't know if anybody's that must see guy 104 00:09:36,000 --> 00:09:50,000 I think there's everybody kind of helped elevate airbases game a little bit but I still feel like there's groupings together of like three or four guys who are on one level then three or four guys on this level and three or four guys on a notch down 105 00:09:50,000 --> 00:10:05,000 So I don't know if we have that breakout guy and that's usually what kind of separates a year out from me for me than anything else whether some of the attitude air was in Austin, a rock, a scene of you know whether it's a Daniel Bryan 106 00:10:05,000 --> 00:10:21,000 Roman Reigns even Cody last year kind of broke out I just don't know if there's that bankable money guy that everybody has to see but there's a lot of really really good guys that people will consistently tune into I guess 107 00:10:21,000 --> 00:10:28,000 So let's look back at WWE Dr. Trey how would we recap world wrestling entertainment in 2024 108 00:10:28,000 --> 00:10:45,000 For me I would say that it's arguably the best year I've ever watched WWE like the consistency in the storytelling the dropping of little hints from one angle that bleeds into another one down the road 109 00:10:45,000 --> 00:11:07,000 The storytelling you know the match quality has been better than it's been in years past just from top to bottom to me it was an A like it was like I said the only thing that they didn't really have is they didn't really have that breakout guy that everybody that hot guy that everybody has to see 110 00:11:07,000 --> 00:11:19,000 There was just really good consistency across all their brands I thought NXT elevated itself from last year SmackDown got a little better especially when Roman came back 111 00:11:19,000 --> 00:11:42,000 Ross been consistently good you have some great feuds tag team division was kind of struggling for a while but over the last six weeks has really picked up the women's division at time it's been a little bit meh but for the most part the NXT women's vision is kind of saved women's wrestling in WWE and then the livery of stuff has been really good 112 00:11:42,000 --> 00:12:04,000 And I as come on really strong so just from top to bottom production value throwing in some nostalgia stuff like a little bit of everything you want WWE just basically hit a home run this year I think to me like I said in the 14 to 15 years we've been covering the show I don't know if they've had a better year overall than they had this year 113 00:12:04,000 --> 00:12:11,000 Yeah there's a lot of ways you could describe this is it the beginning or in the middle of or whatever is this a dynasty 114 00:12:11,000 --> 00:12:31,000 era for WWE I know dynasties of phrase at AW likes to use but is this a dynasty that's going on in world rush entertainment because top to bottom they are another whether you describe them flawless it it's like I had to really rack my brain where you know there were periods of time and we'll talk about this in regards to AW certainly in just a little bit 115 00:12:31,000 --> 00:12:44,000 but there would be stretches of shows going into pay per view during the vidsich man creative team era where I was like yeah you know I'm not really feeling these matches I'm not really feeling the creative in it it's not getting me excited for the matches 116 00:12:44,000 --> 00:12:59,000 and the match would happen at the pay per view and then you move on and then maybe WWE would be in a decent stretch for maybe a month or two where it was pretty good and then it would fall off again like it could be one bad month two good months three bad months two good months 117 00:12:59,000 --> 00:13:16,000 like it was very very inconsistent and it was so inconsistent that it would almost become normal and natural profession of wrestling where you wouldn't get from January to December and a calendar year or good solid production good solid entertainment from your wrestling promotion that you watch 118 00:13:16,000 --> 00:13:30,000 there were going to be you know periods of time where WWE would dip a little bit there were periods of time where WWE would be on the rise and it always seemed to like coalesce with something that was going on like we would always talk about we were entering the Monday night football 119 00:13:30,000 --> 00:13:48,000 in the Monday night football era's of WWE and things to be going really really well for WWE and entering Monday night football or college football would be starting or the NBA finals world series it was it was always something that was going on that would we would give like as an excuse as to why WWE wasn't doing well 120 00:13:48,000 --> 00:14:12,000 but what they've been doing really well in 2024 is that from January to December I don't know if there's been more than a week where they haven't had good programming in all honesty like I mean if raw is is is very good Smackdown is very good NXT is very good I guess if there was a flaw in the beginning of the year it was you were seeing the build to what NXT was towards the end of 2024 121 00:14:12,000 --> 00:14:27,000 which they're coming into 2025 and they're very exciting brand right now the stuff that's going on with them you know maybe that was the flaw in the beginning of the year but as an overall product it's hard to blink and think that there was a period of time doctor 122 00:14:27,000 --> 00:14:42,000 that WWE was not good for a week or two or into a build to a pay per view I mean there are very few times that you and I sit here and we preview a PLA and we're like well yeah I like the four other matches but this one match this makes no sense 123 00:14:42,000 --> 00:14:58,000 that's why it's on the card like when did that happen it I don't think it ever did and that that's very very telling doctor try and I think it goes to show you that there is a blueprint for successful professional wrestling and you're seeing an enrolled wrestling entertainment right now 124 00:14:58,000 --> 00:15:14,000 yeah and I think one thing they've done really well and this is basically the last year and a half two years base ever since vents was kind of moved out was they are actually listening to criticism and their audience a little bit more than they have in years past 125 00:15:14,000 --> 00:15:26,000 like if you hear like you and I have critiqued the tag team division over this year that's been the one flaw is the tag team division on you know raw and Smackdown and then we've seen that adjustment play out over the past 126 00:15:26,000 --> 00:15:40,000 eight weeks ten weeks ever since you know the most of machine guns came around DIY got back together we saw the war raiders come back and just you know recently captured the tag team titles like they've made a concert effort to kind of fix something or 127 00:15:40,000 --> 00:15:50,000 or like yeah the women's division feels a little weak they shuffle that that thing ends up getting shuffled around so they are looking instead of constantly hitting their strengths 128 00:15:50,000 --> 00:16:06,000 they're also trying to fix their deficiencies in their programming as well and that's why it's coming across so good on TV it doesn't feel like it's not nearly of a roller coaster 129 00:16:06,000 --> 00:16:14,000 that has been at times where it's like oh my god it's great and then like a week later like I can't watch this it like it's not like that it's very very consistent 130 00:16:14,000 --> 00:16:22,000 you use the phrase dynasty what I'm thinking of it I'm thinking of like a of a wave like I don't think we're at the top of the wave it's not cresting yet 131 00:16:22,000 --> 00:16:36,000 but you can feel that wave surging up and like I'm expecting big things in 2025 I mean you just some of the stuff they've the rumored stuff for WrestleMania and Summer Slant some of that stuff 132 00:16:36,000 --> 00:16:48,000 like that's something the biggest stuff we've seen in a long time so it's really impressive to see not only how well they're doing but also how they're building for the long term as well 133 00:16:48,000 --> 00:16:56,000 I think one of the things that you could look at where there was an opportunity where WWE could stumble and they didn't and that was the whole rock 134 00:16:56,000 --> 00:17:04,000 Roman Reigns build towards WrestleMania where Cody was removed like that was maybe the only period of time where it was like old school WWE 135 00:17:04,000 --> 00:17:14,000 this is rain where they were going in this direction they weren't going to care what the fans thought and they were going to put that match out there and it was going to be like oh it's the same old shit 136 00:17:14,000 --> 00:17:25,000 instead they turned it around dr. Tray they saved it and I think they gave us something so much more entertaining and so much better head in the WrestleMania that got me really hyped for that show 137 00:17:25,000 --> 00:17:42,000 I think that is this shining example of like WWE in 2024 where they tried something creatively the fans were not liking it they pivoted and they put out something that was probably better than what they were originally thinking and planning and heading into that show 138 00:17:42,000 --> 00:17:50,000 I think there is no more moment than that that's like okay this is the new WWE this is the direction that they will go 139 00:17:50,000 --> 00:17:57,000 and this is why this company has the chance of being very very successful and maybe the most successful it's ever been in its entire history 140 00:17:57,000 --> 00:18:13,000 yeah I was actually listening to an interview with Sean Spears this week and one of the things that he said that's different now than maybe years past is when a person comes in they go hey so here's kind of a loose plan of what we're going to do 141 00:18:13,000 --> 00:18:34,000 we have some other things we're here we can do but we're just going to kind of see where the crowd takes us and then we'll go that way and I don't think that's ever been something they've done in years past like there was a game plan laid out we were going to it's almost like the old football days we're going to run this ball down your throat and you better stop us or not stop us but we're going straight ahead 142 00:18:34,000 --> 00:18:45,000 now it's like they're flexible they're amenable like there's ways they can kind of pivot and adjust and you know the rock Rome is those a great example but even like on stuff like you know the small scale 143 00:18:45,000 --> 00:18:54,000 the war Raiders now were the Viking Raiders nine months ago and they had the whole big Viking game and ball hall and everything else and then they you know 144 00:18:54,000 --> 00:19:14,000 Eric goes down that injury next thing you know we see Ivar on NXT and like biker clothes almost like street clothes and having matches and then they pivoted back to the war Raiders because that was when they enjoyed their success we're seeing the Motorcyle machine guns come in as the Motorcyle machine guns and not you know 145 00:19:14,000 --> 00:19:33,000 Detroit killers or you know what I'm saying Detroit super soakers yes like some random name now it's like this is what people know you as you already kind of have a brand will license it is we can make our little bit of money of it but there's no point in changing something that's not broken so like they're there 146 00:19:33,000 --> 00:19:51,000 more flexible we're seeing them work with other promotions which we have would have never seen in years past like they're actually opening up instead of being like China with the great wall wrapped around them where it's hard to get in or get out those walls have come down and they're open for business and they 147 00:19:51,000 --> 00:20:01,000 will cross boundaries that they never would have crossed before just for the good of pro wrestling and the long run the long term success of WWE as well. 148 00:20:01,000 --> 00:20:05,000 All right Dr. Trey letter grade WWE in 2024. 149 00:20:05,000 --> 00:20:15,000 I I will say in a yeah I think a is fair I want to give them an A plus I mean A plus you would be like I think that's an insane thing to say. 150 00:20:15,000 --> 00:20:37,000 I think A plus you have that Austin or rock breakout guy that just becomes the coolest thing in pop culture how about this to just because for SRT you say you know you and I always do the one to five scale and we do the point system here for paper views if we were doing our one to five scale what would you give WWE in 2024. 151 00:20:37,000 --> 00:20:50,000 4.5 like right there on the cut like to me 4.6 to 5 is a plus like anything right there in the middle is probably an A so that's where I'm at see I'm going like 4.7 out of 5. 152 00:20:50,000 --> 00:20:51,000 Okay. 153 00:20:51,000 --> 00:21:03,000 Yeah I mean I think it's been that good and I want to give it a 5 or give it like a 4.9 out of 5 but I think 4.7 for me is pretty solid so I give it 4.7 you give it 4.5. 154 00:21:03,000 --> 00:21:17,000 And then I guess going back to wrestling in general in 2024 since we gave a letter grade just to go back to that real quick before we talk about a W I think I would give professional wrestling as a whole as a whole like 4.2 out of 5. 155 00:21:17,000 --> 00:21:40,000 Yeah because I was trying to my math I was like I'd be right around a 4.1 4.2 because I said a minus so I have to be a little bit below you so like 4.1 which I sure once we start ranking some of these other promotions you'll see the discrepancy of why the number for wrestling as a whole is a little less than what WWE is. 156 00:21:40,000 --> 00:21:55,000 So let's do it let's switch gears here all the wrestling in 2024 there were high expectations for a W there was the belief that they were going to be signing a lot of free agents one we knew going into 2024 and that was will us price that was announced at full year 2023. 157 00:21:55,000 --> 00:22:16,000 The belief going in 2024 was because it's go caught up and I think at the point the beginning of the Mercedes Monet was rumored to potentially be going to a W as well as WWE and then I think is the month of January went on early stages of 2024 was quickly understood that Mercedes Monet the former Sasha Banks is going to be headed to all the wrestling. 158 00:22:16,000 --> 00:22:45,000 It has been an up and down year doctor try for all elite wrestling ebbs and flows I would say from the start of the year till about revolution it was okay it was mediocre from revolution till about all in London it was very good I thought it was a good solid show lots of good builds lots of good feuds it was people were in position that we wanted to see whether it was worth strictly with the world championship will us brown the rise as international champion. 159 00:22:45,000 --> 00:23:14,000 And then from all in to present day it has completely fallen off a cliff viewership is down creative is down the matches are still good and solid the shows are at times pulling teeth and hard to get through I mean we were talking about two three weeks ago about no longer even recapping or previewing a W paper views because it's so bad viewership has gone down. 160 00:23:14,000 --> 00:23:24,000 Dramaticly they were in the 500,000s for dynamite rampage is like 125 and I saw recent was a little over 200. 161 00:23:24,000 --> 00:23:43,000 I want to say collision has hit the threes over the last short while 300k which is which is down as well attendance has been a known problem for the most part give or take there's been some markets that they've gone in where they've had a good solid showing like at full gear New Jersey they had a good solid 162 00:23:43,000 --> 00:24:05,000 show grand slam had over 8,000 but at one point grand slam in New York City had over 20,000 people in Queens New York it has been an up and down year when I think of all the wrestling dot tray I think it all lays at the feet of the owner and the head of creative of the company and that is one Tony con there have been some stories as of late that 163 00:24:05,000 --> 00:24:24,000 I've not shed him or his company good light most notably the ray Phoenix situation there was something where I read from Brian Alvarez that people were up in arms that Tony storms return to all the wrestling when she came back at the end of dynamite after my made a 164 00:24:24,000 --> 00:24:53,000 few years to recover me to sure Kawah during dynamite they were shocked that her first match back would be on rampage on Friday and I think there was something that Alvarez said where if there was a line of 200 employees and they all said do not have her match on rampage put it on collision put on the phone week of dynamite Tony con still would have done what he wanted to do is put it on rampage and that to me was like listening and looking at a story of about Vince McMahon and if 165 00:24:53,000 --> 00:25:21,000 at some point along the way it appears outside looking in the creative all the rest of all the wrestling stop listening to the fan base and started doing stuff that makes no sense I think the Brian Danielson AW role title rain was a failure and just away for Tony con put the championship on him before he retired as a full time in a wrestler that reports out that Brian Danielson did not even want the championship 166 00:25:21,000 --> 00:25:48,000 there's been curious booking where will osprey for a good portion of the year was in line to win wrestler of the year and then since like August September they booked him not as strong I like that he's put it over his friends like Kyle Fletcher and Kyle Fletcher has a very bright future but it's like what are we doing here like osprey no world title rain in 2024 and all the wrestling is mind blowing 167 00:25:48,000 --> 00:26:16,000 mjfs return you thought it would give it a shot in the arm but he hasn't been on television all that much he's been filming movies reportedly he and Adam Cole which was the big storyline in 2023 towards the end they have now swapped positions where Adam Cole is no longer the heal he's the baby face and mjf is no longer the face and he's the heal and it's like why do I give a crap about this if they've completely reversed a year later 168 00:26:16,000 --> 00:26:45,000 none the less doctor tray it's just a disappointing year overall for all the wrestling and one it's like reaching a breaking point for me as a fan in 2025 like am I going to continue to watch the show front to back each and every week or will be something I'll just check out on YouTube for the highlights and then try to you know see the news on the wrestling websites or on X whatever it has been a confusing twist 169 00:26:45,000 --> 00:26:59,000 in twisting windy road for all the wrestling and a road that is ending this year on a very sour note for me it is been a trip for a w this year doctor tray 170 00:26:59,000 --> 00:27:28,000 yeah like I think I've been harder on eight w over the years than you have and this year I don't want to say it was my breaking point but really I right now they have been prove me wrong face with them like prove me wrong like right now I don't have a ton of interest in your product there's there's certain people I am fans of but as a product is a whole I'm not a fan of it it's it's confusing at times it doesn't make sense there's no consistency 171 00:27:28,000 --> 00:27:54,000 it's you know everything that at times would drove us nuts about the Vince McMahon air and we had that conversation last week or a week ago like has Tony con become what he said he was against and that's basically Vince McMahon and I think there are aspects of a w that remind me of you go see a movie like anchor man anchor man 172 00:27:54,000 --> 00:28:16,000 anchor man's a great example like I love the first anchor man but then the second one they basically just did over did all the good little jokes from the first movie and ran into the ground Austin powers those was the same thing I feel like at times a w has become a victim of itself like some of the stuff that they thought that made them successful early on they've over 173 00:28:16,000 --> 00:28:45,000 done it or ran into the ground and some of it is their stubbornness and their unwillingness to adapt or change but you see like for the last five years we've seen these guys get these start and stop pushes and you know they get really hot and then they're not on TV for two or three months and you know they're they're human relations talent standpoint of how they handle stuff has been atrocious the last three or four years and you start hearing these stories about how guys are like man I haven't heard you 174 00:28:45,000 --> 00:29:14,000 from the company call me in two or three months but they're paying these guys like there are just things about this company that absolutely drive me nuts when it comes to the simple stuff like taking care of your roster storytelling mapping out character arc and development and who's a baby face and who's a yield and how you don't have to shift everybody around all the time you make subtle adjustments 175 00:29:14,000 --> 00:29:26,000 and kind of the crowd dictated the in-ring work of a w has never been the issue that's one of the things that you said that is is really kind of 176 00:29:26,000 --> 00:29:43,000 and I think I know two on Milwaukee the athleticism is great but I don't know these people so why is it like that is really a big deal 177 00:29:43,000 --> 00:30:03,000 is an NBA game on my television I don't know other than one person on Oklahoma City and I think I know two on Milwaukee the athleticism is great but I don't know these people so why do I care and I think that's what the difference between WWA and W has become where yeah the athleticism and 178 00:30:03,000 --> 00:30:18,000 is fantastic but give me a reason to care about your product and I just right now I just don't care like you have to give me a reason to care and just when I think somebody's about to take off and really grab me and maybe bring me back to the product is 179 00:30:18,000 --> 00:30:24,600 all they shut them down or they book them badly or they take them off television and then 180 00:30:24,600 --> 00:30:29,220 I'm just like left hanging like all right I'm like, there are people. I love John Moxley 181 00:30:29,220 --> 00:30:35,520 I love Claudio Casigneoli Chris Jericho still a fan Chris Jericho Osprey you know Cod a 182 00:30:35,520 --> 00:30:41,000 Swerve like all these guys I got fans of and like even right now like everything these 183 00:30:41,000 --> 00:30:45,200 guys are getting involved in starts off great and then just kind of flounders and flops 184 00:30:45,200 --> 00:30:50,560 and then you're just like I'm kind of bored with it so it's it's a really really frustrating 185 00:30:50,560 --> 00:30:57,280 time to continuously go back in it's like being an abusive relationship like it comes 186 00:30:57,280 --> 00:31:00,800 with A.E.W. comes around tells me I'm pretty and how much they care about me and then 187 00:31:00,800 --> 00:31:03,960 three days later they're punching me in the eye it's it's it's frustrating. 188 00:31:03,960 --> 00:31:09,760 Yeah it's very frustrating and I think for people who enjoy A.E.W. like myself it's just 189 00:31:09,760 --> 00:31:14,440 been a rocky road where I mean there were points I mean I've been talking about for a long 190 00:31:14,440 --> 00:31:18,960 time I'm like rampages on watchable collision has points and it's like it's almost getting 191 00:31:18,960 --> 00:31:24,560 to be unwatchable and then Dynamite was the the solid show and it's like the stuff that 192 00:31:24,560 --> 00:31:30,040 they put their eggs in in the basket in the second half of 2024 is like mind blowing 193 00:31:30,040 --> 00:31:33,760 it's like why wouldn't they let Swerve keep going why wouldn't they let Osprey keep 194 00:31:33,760 --> 00:31:39,520 going why wouldn't they let hangman and Swerve keep going like why are we doing death 195 00:31:39,520 --> 00:31:44,040 writers like death writers I mean I said it during full year I'm like I just think this 196 00:31:44,040 --> 00:31:48,560 angle is completely boring I've zero interest in it and this is coming from a guy that really 197 00:31:48,560 --> 00:31:53,040 likes John Moxley like Moxley is one of my favorite guys to watch professional wrestling today 198 00:31:53,040 --> 00:31:59,640 and this angle is not for him this character is not for him it is so freaking boring it's 199 00:31:59,640 --> 00:32:06,520 not good it's it's it's been a rough rough year for A.E.W. overall on these last four or 200 00:32:06,520 --> 00:32:10,040 five months to try I mean even with some of the stuff that we would watch back in the 201 00:32:10,040 --> 00:32:18,240 day with WWE I think these last four months like from all into now maybe it's been some 202 00:32:18,240 --> 00:32:22,040 of the worst professional wrestling we've ever covered in SRT history and I'm not talking 203 00:32:22,040 --> 00:32:28,040 about the in-ring product is think as an overall product I think it's some of the most non-intertaining 204 00:32:28,040 --> 00:32:30,040 boring stuff I've seen. 205 00:32:30,040 --> 00:32:38,440 I think it would be September of 2012 when you and I were covering WWE and I remember 206 00:32:38,440 --> 00:32:44,400 these conversations like I don't know if I can watch this show and that was that that that 207 00:32:44,400 --> 00:32:50,240 was that fall that late summer early fall were like everybody on the roster got hurt like 208 00:32:50,240 --> 00:32:57,080 Orn was out or suspended for a drug violation like everybody was out and it was really really 209 00:32:57,080 --> 00:33:02,320 bad and in those times there's been times where we weren't really enjoying the product but 210 00:33:02,320 --> 00:33:09,240 this is really in the 14-15 years of doing this show only the second time that I remember 211 00:33:09,240 --> 00:33:15,120 you and I having the discussion of should we stop watching this show and that kind of 212 00:33:15,120 --> 00:33:20,720 tells you how bad it's been over the last four or five months I mean you and I sat here 213 00:33:20,720 --> 00:33:26,640 it was a week ago and we were talking about the Kyle Fletcher push and how refreshing 214 00:33:26,640 --> 00:33:33,920 and I mean the guy beat O'Cotta and Osprey in a matter of two weeks and I legitimately 215 00:33:33,920 --> 00:33:39,320 remember telling you you watch Hill they'll probably have them lose to brisco or something 216 00:33:39,320 --> 00:33:43,080 for no reason out of nowhere and they did it. 217 00:33:43,080 --> 00:33:50,280 It's like you have a man beat two of the greatest pro wrestlers in the world and his first 218 00:33:50,280 --> 00:33:52,120 loss off that is Mark briscoe. 219 00:33:52,120 --> 00:33:58,720 I'm not disrespecting Mark briscoe but in the concept of where the AEW hierarchy is he's 220 00:33:58,720 --> 00:34:00,600 not a top guy. 221 00:34:00,600 --> 00:34:05,720 Why are you having a guy lose his first match after beating O'Cotta and Osprey to a guy 222 00:34:05,720 --> 00:34:08,200 who's not a top guy? 223 00:34:08,200 --> 00:34:17,120 That's really bad booking and it's stuff like that that drive normal wrestling fans nuts 224 00:34:17,120 --> 00:34:23,440 like what they're doing with Ethan Page and XT having him lose some matches like that's 225 00:34:23,440 --> 00:34:28,600 a little more storytelling but it's not like we're not pushing Ethan to the moon and 226 00:34:28,600 --> 00:34:32,120 then have him lose a fluke match to Lucas Cristofino. 227 00:34:32,120 --> 00:34:39,480 It doesn't make sense and that's when people like UMEs start checking out on it is because 228 00:34:39,480 --> 00:34:43,760 it doesn't make sense at all to have him lose to Mark briscoe. 229 00:34:43,760 --> 00:34:47,240 The guy you're pushing the moon beats to the best of the right in the yellow smart briscoe 230 00:34:47,240 --> 00:34:54,080 that's why it drives people like me and Jeff absolutely insane what they do at times. 231 00:34:54,080 --> 00:34:57,440 Well the other thing too that I think you got to think about is long time wrestling fans 232 00:34:57,440 --> 00:35:02,520 is that I don't have any of this like deep seated loyalty to AEW. 233 00:35:02,520 --> 00:35:08,600 I've watched every show and every pay per view they've had since 2019 but with WWE I've 234 00:35:08,600 --> 00:35:14,200 been watching every show and every pay per view since 1994 and previous to that would be 235 00:35:14,200 --> 00:35:17,240 intermittently as a kid like 91 to 94. 236 00:35:17,240 --> 00:35:21,680 I would watch it in and out and then 94 was like that year where I really started watch 237 00:35:21,680 --> 00:35:27,480 professional wrestling religiously so I have this loyalty for WWE that I could they have 238 00:35:27,480 --> 00:35:31,760 a leash a very long leash where if they keep on fooling me and it's like all right well 239 00:35:31,760 --> 00:35:36,960 now if I stop watching WWE I'm not going to watch wrestling in general anymore with AEW 240 00:35:36,960 --> 00:35:43,440 it's the leash for loyalty is really small and short and it reminds me personally of how 241 00:35:43,440 --> 00:35:50,280 I treated TNA wrestling nearly 2000s from my 2002 to about 2006 I would watch TNA pretty 242 00:35:50,280 --> 00:35:56,040 regularly and then it's time went on it just dwindled and dwindled and dwindled and there's 243 00:35:56,040 --> 00:36:00,240 been times where I picked it back up like in 2020 I certainly keep an eye on it right now 244 00:36:00,240 --> 00:36:03,640 and I know they're doing good but I don't watch the show consistently I don't watch the 245 00:36:03,640 --> 00:36:10,480 show really at all I just kind of you know hear about what's going on the peripheral so it's 246 00:36:10,480 --> 00:36:16,080 like does AEW fall in that TNA gap for me and it's a possibility I don't want it to be 247 00:36:16,080 --> 00:36:21,320 because we need a good solid number two in professional wrestling and AEW performing 248 00:36:21,320 --> 00:36:28,240 really really well is good overall for professional wrestling so I am cheering them on but it's 249 00:36:28,240 --> 00:36:32,440 like Christ you guys have got to pick up up right here right now because it's like fool 250 00:36:32,440 --> 00:36:41,080 me want shame on me fool me twice maybe over Dr. Trace so rough year for 2024 rough year for 251 00:36:41,080 --> 00:36:50,280 AEW in 2024 let's give our rating on this Dr. Tray or one to five scale I guess I'll start 252 00:36:50,280 --> 00:36:56,800 with you what would you give is the numeric rating here for AEW in 2024 it's almost in 253 00:36:56,800 --> 00:36:59,920 a way it's almost like a tale to have it's got I think the first half the year there was 254 00:36:59,920 --> 00:37:09,000 it was a good product the blast half was really really bad 3.2 maybe like that's like a C like 255 00:37:09,000 --> 00:37:15,800 B minus C is that that is that where we can put us B minus C 3.2 C I was going to go 3.2 256 00:37:15,800 --> 00:37:18,240 and I was thinking that was going to be really low so I was intrigued to hear what you 257 00:37:18,240 --> 00:37:23,920 had to say but since you said 3.2 I'm on the same wavelength there I think 3.2 is very 258 00:37:23,920 --> 00:37:29,800 fair I think that's like a C minus letter grade yeah like to me I go one to five you 259 00:37:29,800 --> 00:37:35,080 look I was okay well if you went to a 3.3 it'd be the middle has a C the middle so I was 260 00:37:35,080 --> 00:37:40,200 like B minus C like it with like I said if the first half of the the first half of the year 261 00:37:40,200 --> 00:37:47,160 I would have given them a B B plus yeah man the last five months have it's been a D D minus 262 00:37:47,160 --> 00:37:52,720 like it's borderline I mean we talked about it's borderline unwatchable at times and once 263 00:37:52,720 --> 00:37:58,320 again it's not the athleticism like these guys are crazy good in the ring it's just all 264 00:37:58,320 --> 00:38:05,600 the other stuff that goes on around it has just been a nightmare the last five like four 265 00:38:05,600 --> 00:38:11,120 or five months of a W. Dr. Trev for people who are you know long time wrestling fans here 266 00:38:11,120 --> 00:38:16,800 I literally think the way you're describing it reminds me so much of TNA in the 2000s like 267 00:38:16,800 --> 00:38:22,240 in-ring stuff was really good but the creative overall it was like meh and I know you were 268 00:38:22,240 --> 00:38:26,600 always referred to as the TNA guy but that's how much that's what it reminds me of right 269 00:38:26,600 --> 00:38:34,280 now is like TNA in that mid 2000s late 2000s into 2010s range it was the Hogan Bishoff 270 00:38:34,280 --> 00:38:39,920 era of TNA that really killed it but at that point I felt like prior to it they were grasping 271 00:38:39,920 --> 00:38:46,400 for straws to find an identity yeah like in it and and I feel that way with AEW like if you 272 00:38:46,400 --> 00:38:50,320 were to tell a wrestling fan like if you like if you describe AEW somebody like what how 273 00:38:50,320 --> 00:38:57,820 would you describe AEW like it's great gymnastics it's great I don't know it's it's it's a movie 274 00:38:57,820 --> 00:39:03,320 that has all the great special effects but nobody you know is in it and the script has 275 00:39:03,320 --> 00:39:07,440 got awful what like there are people you know that's in there like you wouldn't hey 276 00:39:07,440 --> 00:39:13,040 remember Chris Jericho yeah I mean it's it's we remember when you would go to Redbox 277 00:39:13,040 --> 00:39:17,280 and you'd see a movie and it'd be Bruce Willis in the movie you're like okay no Bruce 278 00:39:17,280 --> 00:39:23,360 Willis I don't know anybody else the explosions look kind of cool but then you watch and you're 279 00:39:23,360 --> 00:39:27,960 like yeah I just wasted an hour and a half of my life uh Bruce was in it for a payday like it's 280 00:39:27,960 --> 00:39:36,800 just it's it's at times WCW in 2000 era bad that's how bad AEW is because I am old enough to 281 00:39:36,800 --> 00:39:40,080 remember that we have listeners on the show Jeff you know this we have people who listen to 282 00:39:40,080 --> 00:39:47,520 show that don't remember WCW they were born WCW and they had that that magnificent magnificent seven 283 00:39:47,520 --> 00:39:52,960 that's the new blood yeah I'm that's after new blood when you had like Rick Steiner and Rick 284 00:39:52,960 --> 00:39:58,480 Flair were in a group together like it was really really bad well it was new blood versus magnificent seven 285 00:39:58,480 --> 00:40:05,520 no it was new blood versus millionaires club oh yes you're right yes yes yes yes then after that 286 00:40:05,520 --> 00:40:11,440 the last ditch S for air last ditch group was the magnificent seven that's kind of like yeah they're 287 00:40:11,440 --> 00:40:15,520 closing up shops soon I'm not at that point AEW is not going out of business unless 288 00:40:15,520 --> 00:40:21,120 unless Shadcon decides that you know they I mean you got to deal with max you got all these deals 289 00:40:21,120 --> 00:40:27,760 going on there there's a market for it it's just you almost feel like it's just a rich kid playing 290 00:40:27,760 --> 00:40:34,240 with toys and he doesn't really care what anybody else thinks and that's the arrogance of it all is also 291 00:40:34,240 --> 00:40:38,560 frustrating I don't think there's anything more than I can say to that doctor try I think that was 292 00:40:38,560 --> 00:40:42,640 spot on I think that was perfect and it's funny that you said that because I was thinking that to 293 00:40:42,640 --> 00:40:51,520 myself when I was thinking about prepping for this show today so spot on AW in 2024 perfect way to 294 00:40:51,520 --> 00:40:57,360 wrap it up with that said so we've looked back at everything here from professional wrestling as a 295 00:40:57,360 --> 00:41:06,480 whole WWE is a whole AW is a whole in 2024 now it is time to open up the vault of SRTU we will go back to 296 00:41:06,480 --> 00:41:14,160 the first episode of 2024 it was episode number 725 on January the 4th we're going to listen back to 297 00:41:14,160 --> 00:41:18,960 our bull predictions and our WrestleMania 40 car predictions from the first show of the year 298 00:41:18,960 --> 00:41:24,560 this is something that both and I both Dr. Tray and I dread but it's time for us to do a Dr. Tray 299 00:41:24,560 --> 00:41:30,880 let me open up the vault and take a listen back to our first episode of 2024 on January the 4th episode 300 00:41:30,880 --> 00:41:43,920 of our 725 now Dr. Tray it is time to get ready for our five bull predictions for 2024 301 00:41:43,920 --> 00:41:48,880 and our WrestleMania 40 car predictions are you ready for this are you nervous are you scared 302 00:41:48,880 --> 00:41:54,560 are you excited how do you feel before we get into it so it was fun like a couple ways to go like 303 00:41:54,560 --> 00:41:59,360 Jeff Jeff brings about time that I I hate this show because I have to listen back to it I really 304 00:41:59,360 --> 00:42:05,680 hate my voice and I have sinus congestion really bad so I think my voice like I hear it echoing in 305 00:42:05,680 --> 00:42:13,040 my head which makes this even worse plus we have had almost zero success with all predictions 306 00:42:13,040 --> 00:42:17,680 for the last two years so like we're literally counting quarter points and half points just to 307 00:42:17,680 --> 00:42:22,800 give ourselves some credit so we don't get zeros so absolutely nervous and terrified but it's 308 00:42:22,800 --> 00:42:26,960 going to be fun because I always love hearing what you come up with I don't know if you think 309 00:42:26,960 --> 00:42:32,720 the same way about me but this is actually one of my favorite things we do as far as just fantasy 310 00:42:32,720 --> 00:42:39,920 booking creative just weird crap that Jeff and I come up with for our bull predictions oh yeah I 311 00:42:39,920 --> 00:42:46,160 love doing this because it's is there stuff that like on the probability of actually happening as a 312 00:42:46,160 --> 00:42:52,240 prediction isn't really high isn't in the middle is it really low like how crazy do we get how oh okay 313 00:42:52,240 --> 00:42:58,080 I could see that happen and did we get it's a really fun thing that we do here we recapped our 314 00:42:58,080 --> 00:43:05,840 bull predictions from the first show last year two weeks ago in Dr. Trey we gave the victory two and 315 00:43:05,840 --> 00:43:10,800 that one when it came to all encompassing bull predictions and WrestleMania 39 car predictions 316 00:43:11,440 --> 00:43:18,400 we will have to see how this sounds when we replay this clip on December 19th of this year the 317 00:43:18,400 --> 00:43:23,680 second last to last show of the year and recap our bull predictions and WrestleMania 40 car 318 00:43:23,680 --> 00:43:29,280 predictions on that edition of the podcast but right now we're living in the moment Dr. Trey this 319 00:43:29,280 --> 00:43:34,880 clip is is now playing during the first show of the year and the second to last show of the year 320 00:43:34,880 --> 00:43:39,840 and it's time to get to it my friend shall we begin with each of us going through our bull 321 00:43:39,840 --> 00:43:44,880 predictions one through five are we gonna do I go back and forth or we're just gonna go straight 322 00:43:44,880 --> 00:43:49,680 through I think why don't we been going straight through the last couple years and I think why don't 323 00:43:49,680 --> 00:43:53,760 we do it again you want me to go first or do you want to go first my I'm good I got all my stuff 324 00:43:53,760 --> 00:44:02,160 here so I'll start first my first bull prediction is the one non-intering storyline bull prediction 325 00:44:02,160 --> 00:44:13,520 so my first one is that the newly minted t-k-o endeavor operation buys TNA wrestling and decides to 326 00:44:13,520 --> 00:44:19,440 operate as as another traveling developmental brand similar to what A.W. did with Ring of Honor I 327 00:44:19,440 --> 00:44:24,800 can see endeavor doing the same thing with TNA and just basically one upping the Tony Khan approach 328 00:44:24,800 --> 00:44:29,760 and leaving you know Scott DeMore in charge of running the day-to-day operations but another 329 00:44:29,760 --> 00:44:36,080 avenue for W2B to kind of get some extra revenue coming in extra TV deal already in place 330 00:44:36,080 --> 00:44:42,240 and heck and never just announced that's your logo or it was announced that they're gonna start 331 00:44:42,240 --> 00:44:47,040 streaming TNA wrestling through the endeavor platform so it kind of makes sense on that level as well 332 00:44:47,040 --> 00:44:54,960 my number two bull prediction is everybody's favorite wrestler right now yours in mind included 333 00:44:54,960 --> 00:45:01,280 Swarth Strickland wins the A.W. Heavyweight Championship and the Prince not on dance will take over social 334 00:45:01,280 --> 00:45:08,640 media it is one of the most entertaining duos we've seen in quite a while Swarth is on is approaching 335 00:45:08,640 --> 00:45:15,040 another level I think he keeps making that progression and as much as I really don't want other 336 00:45:15,040 --> 00:45:19,680 managers to be successful out of just spites and biases Prince not really is entertaining with 337 00:45:19,680 --> 00:45:27,360 that dance he does coming out my number three bull prediction is that Adam Copeland turns heel 338 00:45:27,360 --> 00:45:34,080 and reunites with Christian Cage to battle FTR for the newly minted US Canadian Maple Leaf 339 00:45:34,080 --> 00:45:39,200 Brown Sugar throw in one other other title thing you want to tag team titles in A.W. I mean we have 340 00:45:39,200 --> 00:45:46,400 a surplus of belts available in A.W. but I do think edging Christian reunite at some point it 341 00:45:46,400 --> 00:45:52,960 as much as I love cheering for them I think Christian Cage has been phenomenal as a heel Adam Copeland 342 00:45:52,960 --> 00:45:57,200 hasn't played the heel in quite some time so I think those two guys getting back together 343 00:45:57,200 --> 00:46:04,560 reuniting E&C under the C&C moniker to take on FTR would be highly highly enjoyable 344 00:46:04,560 --> 00:46:12,400 my number four bull prediction is that the guns signed with W.E. and signed with Grayson Waller 345 00:46:12,400 --> 00:46:19,040 in Austin Theory 2 for D generation NXT or D generation next however you want to phrase it 346 00:46:19,040 --> 00:46:25,280 would be some kind of cool thing there but the guns are arguably one of the most entertaining duos 347 00:46:25,280 --> 00:46:31,600 on television right now along with the other members of bullet club gold I think those guys are 348 00:46:31,600 --> 00:46:37,520 perfect K.A.T.s for W.E. just like we saw with Ryan Pilman Jr. recently just a young talent 349 00:46:37,520 --> 00:46:43,760 they could bring in bold and shape and their charisma level is off the charts so I can see them being 350 00:46:43,760 --> 00:46:48,880 paired with Waller in theory who are kind of like a young Shawn Michaels in Triple H in their attitudes 351 00:46:48,880 --> 00:46:56,240 and basically reforming or foring some version of D generation next and finally my last bull 352 00:46:56,240 --> 00:47:03,280 prediction is kind of based on our award show so to speak that Dominic Mysterio will win money in 353 00:47:03,280 --> 00:47:09,600 the bank in cash in on Damien Priest who cashed in earlier on the show at Money in Bank to win the 354 00:47:09,600 --> 00:47:16,720 WWE heavyweight championship so I at this point now we're getting close to WrestleMania season 355 00:47:16,720 --> 00:47:23,120 Damien Priest still has not cashed in it doesn't look like he's got an opportunity to do so 356 00:47:23,120 --> 00:47:29,360 I can see him cashing in literally almost at the at the one year mark and then Dominic cashes in 357 00:47:29,360 --> 00:47:35,200 it or wins by the bank and then cashes in on Damien Priest to save night so those are my five 358 00:47:35,200 --> 00:47:43,920 bold predictions. That's really good man it's funny because at least two of them are very similar 359 00:47:43,920 --> 00:47:51,040 in a way or at least as a mention to mine so beginning with my first bull prediction I have 360 00:47:51,040 --> 00:47:57,280 swirfs trickling dethroning MJF and becoming the AW world champion hopefully that means MJF 361 00:47:57,280 --> 00:48:02,160 retained at world's end or this bull prediction is already shot by the time this show airs 362 00:48:02,160 --> 00:48:07,920 so both Dr. Tren and I have in swirfs trickling becoming AW world champion in 2024 with our 363 00:48:07,920 --> 00:48:14,640 bull predictions my number two is that Kosocheka Okaada signed with WWE and takes on Shinsuke Nakamura 364 00:48:14,640 --> 00:48:22,800 WrestleMania 40 my number three is that CM Punk becomes the next era or the next wave of raw 365 00:48:22,800 --> 00:48:28,960 or Smackdown performer to go to NXT where he becomes the NXT Champion helps build up Elyah Dragon 366 00:48:28,960 --> 00:48:36,560 off to eventually dethroned CM Punk and become NXT Champion again my number four similar to one of 367 00:48:36,560 --> 00:48:42,720 Dr. Tren's that Damien Priest turns babyface when the judgment day turns on him eventually cashing 368 00:48:42,720 --> 00:48:47,840 in his money the bank briefcase and becoming the WWE World Heavyweight Champion so Dr. Tren I have 369 00:48:47,840 --> 00:48:54,320 at some point somehow someway Damien Priest cashes in and becomes the WWE World Heavyweight Champion 370 00:48:54,320 --> 00:49:02,640 and then my last bull predictions is that Mercedes Monet signs with TNA wrestling and feuds with 371 00:49:02,640 --> 00:49:07,920 Trinity there's some reports out there right now that her stuff is with AW has quieted down and 372 00:49:07,920 --> 00:49:12,800 there's no more talk about creative everybody's point to WWE for her to make a return maybe the 373 00:49:12,800 --> 00:49:17,600 Royal Rumble in a couple weeks I'm saying she signs with TNA Scott Demore said that they have 374 00:49:18,000 --> 00:49:23,840 a major surprise signing for TNA wrestling and I think that's going to be Mercedes Monet so Dr. 375 00:49:23,840 --> 00:49:30,240 Tren there are our five bold predictions funny enough mentions the Swarp Strickland mentions of 376 00:49:30,240 --> 00:49:36,400 Damien Priest and at least both of ours yeah by the way if Swarp does the throne MJF I want a 377 00:49:36,400 --> 00:49:42,240 video of Jeff Pegd doing the praise not a dance I can do it I can do it it's not a hard it's not so much 378 00:49:42,240 --> 00:49:47,200 the back and forth it's more the lasso the lasso part is what I want to see fair enough I'm really 379 00:49:47,200 --> 00:49:52,400 good with the arms bobbing back and forth I'm actually doing it right now if you can hear me doing it 380 00:49:52,400 --> 00:49:58,480 if you're cracking that's my shoulders that's litter how I dance at most wrestling shows wait like 381 00:49:58,480 --> 00:50:03,200 I'm like is somebody somebody always has music playing at what a Rock a City shows where I start dancing 382 00:50:03,200 --> 00:50:08,320 and then I realize oh crap I'm dancing and people can see me I merely stop so that does happen I 383 00:50:08,320 --> 00:50:13,280 by the way I love the O'Cotta one because as I was doing in my Russell maniac hard I had a hard 384 00:50:13,280 --> 00:50:19,200 time finding something for shinskate or wrestle so that works out perfectly I really really like that 385 00:50:19,200 --> 00:50:24,960 as well so though solid job out of your prediction we didn't go I don't think we went too crazy 386 00:50:24,960 --> 00:50:33,360 like nothing is completely out of the rubber possibility but they are legitimately bold predictions 387 00:50:33,360 --> 00:50:38,400 because they are stretches of the imagination true and it there's also the part of those are the 388 00:50:38,400 --> 00:50:45,200 things that we want to see in 2024 somehow some way all right wrestle many 40 card predictions 389 00:50:45,200 --> 00:50:49,840 doctor you went first with bold predictions I will go first with wrestle many 40 card predictions 390 00:50:49,840 --> 00:50:57,600 my first match is the is that Roman Reigns defense the WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes 391 00:50:57,600 --> 00:51:04,000 who earns that right by winning the elimination chamber in Perth Australia my second match is 392 00:51:04,000 --> 00:51:09,280 Seth freaking Rawls defending the WWE World of the Way Championship against CM Punk who wins the 393 00:51:09,280 --> 00:51:15,040 Royal Rumble my third match is Gunther defending the Intercontinental Championship against Brock Lesnar 394 00:51:15,040 --> 00:51:20,480 my fourth match is Logan Paul defending the United States Championship against Kevin Owens 395 00:51:20,480 --> 00:51:26,880 my fifth match is for the women's world of the way championship is really Ripley defends against 396 00:51:26,880 --> 00:51:33,440 Becky Lynch who wins an elimination chamber match to become a number one contender my number six match 397 00:51:33,440 --> 00:51:38,240 is EO Sky versus Bailey who wins the Royal Rumble for the WWE Women's Championship 398 00:51:38,240 --> 00:51:43,520 seventh match is Finn Baller and Damien Priest defending the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship 399 00:51:43,520 --> 00:51:47,600 against the Street Proffords and Austin Thierry and Grayson Waller in a triple threat match 400 00:51:47,600 --> 00:51:55,520 I have Jay Uso versus Jimmy Uso I have Sami Zayn versus Drew McIntyre I have Shinsuke Nakamura versus 401 00:51:55,520 --> 00:52:01,520 Kazuchka O'Kada as I mentioned my bold predictions my eleventh match is Bianca Belair and Shotsi 402 00:52:01,520 --> 00:52:07,280 defending the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship against Oscar and Kyrie Sane also known as the 403 00:52:07,280 --> 00:52:14,160 Kabuki Warriors my twelfth match is Ray Mysterio Dragon Lee and Bad Bunny taking on Santos 404 00:52:14,160 --> 00:52:20,400 Escobar Dominic Mysterio and JD McDonough I have Randy Orton taking on Solus Akowa Bobby Lashley 405 00:52:20,400 --> 00:52:26,720 taking on LA Knight Alpha Academy versus DIY versus the Creed Brothers versus Imperium in a men's 406 00:52:26,720 --> 00:52:32,320 WrestleMania showcase Fatal Four-Way Tag Team match and in a women's WrestleMania showcase Fatal 407 00:52:32,320 --> 00:52:37,200 Four-Way Tag Team match I have Zoe Sarkin-Chanen Basler taking on Natalya and Tegan Nox 408 00:52:37,200 --> 00:52:43,840 taking on Canceleray and Indy Hartwell taking on Katana Chant and Caden Carter I have 16 matches 409 00:52:43,840 --> 00:52:50,560 that is my WrestleMania 40 card prediction Dr. Trey. Hello so I think we're about the same 410 00:52:50,560 --> 00:52:56,720 never matches you I was just making sure that we're kind of here so there's quite a few on your 411 00:52:56,720 --> 00:53:03,120 card that are similar to mine but then we also have quite a few differences as well so so my WrestleMania 412 00:53:03,120 --> 00:53:14,800 card I have yeah so apparently Sammy who's not happy with my WrestleMania I think Sammy just saw 413 00:53:14,800 --> 00:53:19,760 my WrestleMania card and decided it was horrible so I can't believe he kept nine jacks off the card 414 00:53:19,760 --> 00:53:30,960 I it's limit what it is right now so yeah it's right behind you dude okay so my WrestleMania card I 415 00:53:30,960 --> 00:53:37,600 have a robot arrays defending the Undisputed Championship against Cody Rhodes who also I have 416 00:53:37,600 --> 00:53:42,560 basically somehow some way getting in through a elimination chamber I have Seth Frick and Rol is 417 00:53:42,560 --> 00:53:47,040 defending the WWE heavyweight championship against CM Punk who wins the Rumble just because I think 418 00:53:47,040 --> 00:53:50,960 that's a great storytelling considering that that's when Punk left was after the Rumble 10 years 419 00:53:50,960 --> 00:53:56,720 ago he then returns and now wins it for the United States Championship I have Logan Paul defending against 420 00:53:56,720 --> 00:54:04,640 LA Knight for the I see I also the women's tag team titles I have Chelsea Green and Piper Niven 421 00:54:04,640 --> 00:54:12,560 against the Kabuki Warriors versus Alba Fier and Iladon versus Natalia and Tegan Knox I have 422 00:54:12,560 --> 00:54:17,840 AJ Styles versus Ray New York I have Finn Balor naming priest to fit into the tag team titles against 423 00:54:17,840 --> 00:54:25,520 DIY for the well I don't know the women's championship on Rol I have rear-ripply defending against Becky Lynch 424 00:54:25,520 --> 00:54:31,520 on the SmackDown side I have Eoskyte defending against Bayley who also wins the Rumble I also 425 00:54:31,520 --> 00:54:38,240 have Jade Cargill make it her entering debut at WrestleMania versus Bianca Belair Drew McIntyre versus 426 00:54:38,240 --> 00:54:46,560 Sammy Zane Kevin O'Han versus Bobby Lashley John Cena makes his return to Battlesolo Sikkoa I also 427 00:54:46,560 --> 00:54:52,080 have Gunther versus Brock Lesnar for the Intercontinental title Bobby Lashley versus Shamus Shisuke 428 00:54:52,080 --> 00:54:59,600 Nakamura versus the Miz I have a tag team gauntlet match which at the new day pretty deadly the Viking 429 00:54:59,600 --> 00:55:06,080 the Viking Raiders decrees Alfa Academy in a Periam and then I have Ray Mysterio and the rest of 430 00:55:06,080 --> 00:55:13,280 the LWO versus Santos Escobar Humberto Grewiah and Angel Garza I like it I like it Dr. Trey 431 00:55:13,280 --> 00:55:21,360 my the person I had the hardest to predict their match was actually LA night I nearly 432 00:55:21,360 --> 00:55:28,800 forgot him on my card who was yours mine was finding in a pote for Gunther like I wanted to do Brock 433 00:55:28,800 --> 00:55:33,840 like I I just don't see that being for the Intercontinental title so I kept trying to figure out a way 434 00:55:33,840 --> 00:55:42,240 to put the belt on somebody else first like Brock causes somebody to beat Gunther so that was what 435 00:55:42,240 --> 00:55:47,120 and then yeah it was the LA night Kevin Owens like who goes with who and I just think they're 436 00:55:47,120 --> 00:55:52,800 going to Kevin Owens and Logan Paul at Rumble and then LA night and Logan Paul at WrestleMania so 437 00:55:52,800 --> 00:55:57,440 that's kind of my thought my thought process anyway yeah no it makes sense it makes sense so there you 438 00:55:57,440 --> 00:56:04,480 go there is our five bold predictions and our WrestleMania 40 card predictions we will reopen 439 00:56:04,480 --> 00:56:12,000 the vault on December 19th 2024 and we will see how Dr. Trey and I did so hopefully when we go 440 00:56:12,000 --> 00:56:19,200 back into time and and listen back to these predictions and these match predictions Dr. Trey and I 441 00:56:19,200 --> 00:56:27,120 look like geniuses if not we will continue to laugh at ourselves so there is our 2024 five bold 442 00:56:27,120 --> 00:56:32,880 predictions and our WrestleMania 40 card predictions here on the first show of 2024 443 00:56:32,880 --> 00:56:44,080 all right Dr. Trey we are back here on present day December the 19th this week's edition of SRTU 444 00:56:44,080 --> 00:56:49,360 and we've just played our bold predictions and our WrestleMania 40 card predictions from the first 445 00:56:49,360 --> 00:56:56,800 show of the year back on January the 4th Episode 725 here we are 50 shows later Episode 775 446 00:56:56,800 --> 00:57:02,560 on December 19th and let's let's give out our grades here or our point system that we tend to do 447 00:57:02,560 --> 00:57:07,760 each and every year and see how we did in our bold predictions and our WrestleMania 40 card predictions 448 00:57:07,760 --> 00:57:14,560 so let's start with me and my first one was Swarth Strickland D-Froins MJF and becomes the A-W world 449 00:57:14,560 --> 00:57:20,800 champion I gave myself a half a point are we in agreement on that yep I gave you a half a point as 450 00:57:20,800 --> 00:57:25,920 well all right because it's go caught a signs with WWE and takes on shinsuke Nakamura no points 451 00:57:25,920 --> 00:57:31,360 so no reason to talk about that um CM Punk becomes the NXT Champion helps build up Illya Dragon off 452 00:57:31,360 --> 00:57:37,920 to eventually become the NXT Champion again zero points on that my fourth bold prediction Damian 453 00:57:37,920 --> 00:57:42,880 Priest turns babyface when the judgment date turns on him eventually cashes in as money in the bank 454 00:57:42,880 --> 00:57:50,400 briefcase and becomes the WWE World of War champion it didn't work in that specific way in that order 455 00:57:50,400 --> 00:57:57,200 but I gave myself a point are you is that fair yeah the only thing I knocked you on a little bit was 456 00:57:57,200 --> 00:58:01,120 the the judgment date because that just came after but I still gave you a full point because you still 457 00:58:01,120 --> 00:58:05,840 the cash in the world title and judgment date turning you just had the order a little bit wrong 458 00:58:05,840 --> 00:58:10,240 but it's a bold prediction so if the horse is a little bit off I'm fine with that I gave you a full 459 00:58:10,240 --> 00:58:14,880 point for it and then I had Mercedes Monet signs with T&A wrestling infused with Trinity that 460 00:58:14,880 --> 00:58:22,320 received no points uh Dr. Tray's bold prediction TKO group holding spies T&A wrestling and uses it 461 00:58:22,320 --> 00:58:28,080 as a developmental brand while I wish that came true it did not uh no points there 462 00:58:28,080 --> 00:58:34,480 source order I also gave myself a quarter because they are using T&A in a sense of his developmental 463 00:58:34,480 --> 00:58:41,040 because you're seeing the Tatum Pax lees in the Wendy Chuse I don't know if it's a they're not using 464 00:58:41,040 --> 00:58:48,000 as a developmental brand I think it's a partnership yeah but it's it's it's yeah I guess I was I was 465 00:58:48,000 --> 00:58:52,720 just proud that I actually saw that TKO and T&A worked together so I was just happy with that so do 466 00:58:52,720 --> 00:58:57,360 you want to give it a quarter point I gave it no points what do you want to do I'm just scraping 467 00:58:57,360 --> 00:59:01,360 by here because I this is maybe the worst year of all predictors I had so this is I was just 468 00:59:01,360 --> 00:59:06,560 to find some kind of partial credit this is like you're failing the chemistry test and you're hoping 469 00:59:06,560 --> 00:59:10,960 the teacher gives you points for getting your name right it's like extra credit uh sort of 470 00:59:10,960 --> 00:59:15,280 trickling wins the AW world championship and the Prince Nana dance takes over social media I give 471 00:59:15,280 --> 00:59:20,720 that a half a point so what the Nana dance didn't take over social media because it kind of did for 472 00:59:20,720 --> 00:59:27,120 a couple weeks I unless I'm not tapped in there I I don't think it did did it they literally had 473 00:59:27,120 --> 00:59:33,280 Nana do teaching the dance to the guys on busted open a couple weeks ago so uh but yeah I'll take 474 00:59:33,280 --> 00:59:39,680 a half a point that's fine all right Adam I think you were like wasted on this one uh Adam Copeland 475 00:59:39,680 --> 00:59:45,760 turns heel and teams with Christian Cage to battle FCR for the newly minted AW US Canadian 476 00:59:45,760 --> 00:59:52,880 Maple Leaf Brown Sugar tag team titles I give that no points yeah I got no points I would say 477 00:59:52,880 --> 00:59:57,440 if Copeland had not broken his leg uh that might still have happened but I the tag team time 478 00:59:57,440 --> 01:00:02,880 it that was just me making fun of the fact that AW has 75 titles but now WWE is catching up so 479 01:00:02,880 --> 01:00:07,840 uh I guess I can't critique AEW for having so many titles when the other brand is doing the same 480 01:00:07,840 --> 01:00:13,920 thing now uh the guns signed with WWE side with the Austin Theory and Gracial Waller informed degeneration 481 01:00:13,920 --> 01:00:19,680 next while I would have loved that I gave a no points no points as and I feel back is Austin and cold 482 01:00:19,680 --> 01:00:23,920 not even on TV right now because of one of them's hurt uh Dominic Mysterio wins money the bank 483 01:00:23,920 --> 01:00:28,720 cash is in on Damien Priest who cashed in earlier on the money the bank show to win the WWE World 484 01:00:28,720 --> 01:00:33,440 WWE Championship that would have been pretty awesome to see Dr. Trayboat unfortunately did not happen 485 01:00:33,440 --> 01:00:38,640 zero points once again yeah no I like I said this was probably my worst year I think last year I 486 01:00:38,640 --> 01:00:47,520 had like two two and a half points yeah actually uh I could look back here you last year uh all of our 487 01:00:47,520 --> 01:00:54,000 bold predictions weren't good but overall you won the bold predictions and WrestleMania 39 car 488 01:00:54,000 --> 01:01:00,320 predictions by going five and a half points and I had four yeah so like last year this is just 489 01:01:00,320 --> 01:01:07,120 like my predictions for 2024 as a whole or a trotious uh WrestleMania 40 car predictions started with 490 01:01:07,120 --> 01:01:12,000 Dr. Tray first Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes elimination chamber winner for the WWE World 491 01:01:12,000 --> 01:01:16,960 WWE Championship I gave it a half a point because Cody didn't win the elimination chamber 492 01:01:16,960 --> 01:01:23,120 okay that's fine uh Seth Freakin-Rollons vs CM Punk Royal Rumble winner 493 01:01:23,120 --> 01:01:26,240 for the World Heavyweight Championship that did not happen no points 494 01:01:26,240 --> 01:01:31,920 out Logan Paul vs LA Knight for the United States Championship didn't happen uh no points but it 495 01:01:31,920 --> 01:01:37,520 happened later in the year so yeah um Chelsea Green and Piper Niven defending the WWE Women's 496 01:01:37,520 --> 01:01:42,240 Sack Team Championship against Asuka and Kyrie Sain vs Alba Farr and Isle of Dawn vs Natalya and 497 01:01:42,240 --> 01:01:48,080 Tegan Knox did not happen AJ Styles vs Randy Orton did not happen Finn Balor and Damien Priest 498 01:01:48,080 --> 01:01:54,880 defending the industry the WWE Tag Team Championship against T.I.Y did not happen real Ripley defending 499 01:01:54,880 --> 01:01:58,960 the Women's World Championship against Becky Lynch the elimination chamber winner did happen I 500 01:01:58,960 --> 01:02:05,360 gave that one full point whoo uh Eosky defending the WWE Women's Championship against Bayley who 501 01:02:05,360 --> 01:02:11,600 was the Royal Rumble Rumble winner that did happen I gave that one point. Yeah me I got two two 502 01:02:11,600 --> 01:02:17,760 and a half uh Jade Cardgill vs Bianca Belair did not happen no points Sami Zayn vs Drew McAltar 503 01:02:17,760 --> 01:02:22,480 did not happen no points Kevin Owens vs Bobby Lashley didn't happen no points scene 504 01:02:22,480 --> 01:02:29,840 of vs Solo Osikoa no points Gunther vs Brock and a continental no points Lashley vs Shamest no points 505 01:02:29,840 --> 01:02:35,840 you had Lashley on here twice I guess he had him doing double duty that might have been a typo 506 01:02:35,840 --> 01:02:40,960 somewhere because I think I think I had only maybe I had twice I gave him uh she's getting 507 01:02:40,960 --> 01:02:45,840 out of more versus the Miz no points new day versus pretty deadly versus Viking Raiders versus 508 01:02:45,840 --> 01:02:52,160 Tree Brothers vs Alfa Academy vs Periam tag team gauntlet match did not happen uh Rae 509 01:02:52,160 --> 01:02:58,160 Mr. Dio and LWO vs Santos Escobar on Burtakury on Angel Garza I give that a half a point out to try 510 01:02:58,160 --> 01:03:05,680 I can't like I honestly I don't remember the entire Wrestlemania card so it was Rae and Andrade 511 01:03:05,680 --> 01:03:15,360 vs Santos and Dominic okay yes I had I had the two main participants Rae and Santos together so 512 01:03:15,360 --> 01:03:23,120 yeah I give you a half a point there I think that's fair um Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes elimination chamber 513 01:03:23,120 --> 01:03:28,800 winner uh that was this is my WrestleMania 40 car predictions uh I gave that a half a point 514 01:03:28,800 --> 01:03:35,120 Seth Rican Rounds vs CM Punk Rowe rumble winner uh that did not happen no points Gunther vs Brock 515 01:03:35,120 --> 01:03:40,000 and a continental championship no points Logan Paul defending United States championship against Kevin 516 01:03:40,000 --> 01:03:48,720 Owens uh that was a half a point um Rhea Ripley defending the women's world championship against 517 01:03:48,720 --> 01:03:55,440 Becky Lynch who was the elimination chamber I gave that one point EO Sky defending the WWE women's 518 01:03:55,440 --> 01:04:02,640 championship against Bayley the Royal Womble winner I gave that one point uh what else here Finn 519 01:04:02,640 --> 01:04:07,840 Baller and Damian Priest vs the Street Proffits vs Austin Thierry and Grayson Wallard for the 520 01:04:07,840 --> 01:04:15,040 industry WWE tag team championship did not happen so I gave that no points J.U.s vs Jimmy Uso 521 01:04:15,040 --> 01:04:20,720 did happen so I gave that a point Sami Zayn vs Drew McAttire no point Shinsuke Nakamura vs Kuznetz 522 01:04:20,720 --> 01:04:26,880 Gokata no points Bianca Belair and Shotzi vs Austin Curry Sane for the WWE women's tag team 523 01:04:26,880 --> 01:04:32,560 championship no points Rhea Mysterio Dragon Lee and Bad Bunny vs Santos Escobar Dominic 524 01:04:32,560 --> 01:04:37,600 Monsieur and JD McDonough I gave that no points though I probably could give it a half a point but I'm 525 01:04:37,600 --> 01:04:44,560 gonna give it no uh Orton and Solo no points Bobby Lashley no late night no points Alpha Academy and 526 01:04:44,560 --> 01:04:50,640 vs D.O.I vs the Creed Brothers vs Imperium Men's WrestleMania showcase fatal four-way tag team match 527 01:04:50,640 --> 01:04:57,280 no points Zoe Stark and Shayna Bayzler vs Natalya and Tegan Oax vs Ken Slerain Indy Hartwell vs 528 01:04:57,280 --> 01:05:03,840 the Katana chance of Kaden Carter women's WrestleMania showcase fatal four-way tag team match that did 529 01:05:03,840 --> 01:05:11,360 not happen no points um going back to the Logan Paul Kevin Owens stuff I gave that a half a point 530 01:05:11,360 --> 01:05:16,320 because that ended up being Logan Paul vs Kevin Owens and Randy Orton the United States championship 531 01:05:16,320 --> 01:05:24,720 match so overall Dr. Dre points for 2024 I got 4.5 and you got 3.5 532 01:05:26,720 --> 01:05:32,800 not bad but I mean we've done I mean obviously you just said we did better last year so well you've 533 01:05:32,800 --> 01:05:39,840 been consistent you got 4.5 last year 4.5 this year I've been consistently bad
