  of the hour here about while building a relationship with God

  on a day-to-day basis and talking Doug of course about

  those folks that say they've tried the God thing didn't work
• 4:34
  for them. And of course thinking about
• 4:36
  this in in in in our modern day churches that we have.

  We're not really being taught by the leaders.

  You always use this reference of you know, pastors feed my sheep
• 4:48
  pastors feed my sheep. This is a very passionate thing
• 4:51
  for you because I know you know the truth from your experience
• 4:55
  of diving deep into the word spending 14 hours a day
• 4:59
  sometimes studying God's words. So this is a very passionate and
• 5:03
  very, very heartfelt thing for you because you see what's going
• 5:07
  on out there. So when we talk about people
• 5:09
  trying the God thing, that makes sense because they haven't
• 5:13
  really been taught the correct way, as it were, how to build a
• 5:17
  relationship with God. And as it were, Satan's biggest
• 5:19
  weapon is course deception. So talk to us about that, Doug,

  about, you know, pastors feeding her sheep going the churches out
• 5:28
  there today that are are not necessarily hitting, hitting,
• 5:31
  hitting the bull's eyes. We talked about.

  Yeah, yeah. It's like, it's like my parents

  have a police in can I, they have a 5 acre property.

  Let's say the whole family died, you know, and then the property

  was was up for, for auction, you know, with, with everything.

  So my dad has 10 dogs in the kennel.

  So somebody buys it, buys the property, buys all the

  furniture, the cars, everything. It's all sold together.

  You must be a dog lover. Takes them out of the kennel,

  takes them to, you know, the dog park.

  Those dogs kill the other dogs. Can't figure it out.

  They take them to this. This guy has a farm.

  Dogs kill the goats, they kill the cattle.

  Can't figure it out. And and they failed to read the

  the booklet that came with the hounds to say, hey, this is how

  They said, no, I got it. You know how back in the day

  when you go to a certain place and there's a map?

  map. I know how to find my way.

  I know we went to Disneyland, Anaheim.

  And I remember my dad trying to say, no, I don't need the map.

  And we get lost. He thinks he has Agps in his

  mind, you know what I mean? And we, we, we try to put things

  together without reading the instructions, you know, and we

  bring things home like shelves. And no, I don't mean the

  instructions, but they don't read to say to, to see, these
• 7:07
  are hunting dogs. They're trained to fight.

  They're trained to, to, to, to fight boars, 400 LB boars that
• 7:16
  can kill them. So they're aggressive.

  If a little Chihuahua is grounding at them, they'll shake
• 7:22
  that Chihuahua and kill them because they don't, they're,
• 7:25
  they're trained to be aggressive and to fight, right, Right.

  So you can't take them with other dogs.

  You can't take them like a pet, like a Labrador.

  Sure, sure, sure. Because they're not bred for

  that point I'm making is they don't go back to the original

  reason that what they're designed to do.

  Now if we went back to our owner's manual, why we were

  created and we keep in step, we try to function in the way we

  were created will function correctly.

  But if we try to fit a a square peg into a round hole, it won't

  fit because it's not supposed to go into a round hole.

  Meaning if you're focused on the branches of I'm trying to be a

  good husband, I'm trying to be a good son, I'm trying to be a

  good neighbor. That's by works.

  That's me trying to do it and I struggle doing it.

  Like how can I change my core beliefs of what I, what my

  morals and values and character is?

  Can't do it. I, it's like, that's like what

  I'm saying. He's trying to put a square pig

  into our own home. You can't do it.

  You can't doesn't fit. You can force it in, but it it's

  not supposed to be there. Yeah, right.

  So taking that, that square peg, that round hole that's in our

  heart, you know, God has designed it that way so that

  what fills that round hole is relationship with God, knowing
• 8:53
  him through his word. And you know, Doug, going back

  to the story that you were telling about buying the house,
• 8:58
  of course. Well, if you didn't read the

  owner's manual that came with the house explaining what the
• 9:05
  dogs were for, Very similar to somebody coming into church
• 9:10
  today and then not knowing what that you know, that round hole
• 9:15
  that's in their heart, 'cause they're looking for it.

  They're coming into church and they're giving a square peg and
• 9:20
  they're not. And they're not reading and
• 9:22
  finding out for themselves what a relationship with God really
• 9:26
  is and what it looks like. And how do we do that?

  Correct. It's like exactly Kevin.

  It's not knowing what we're supposed to do.

  We're supposed to read His word every day, and the Holy Spirit
• 9:40
  helps us. He's the master tutor.
• 9:42
  Master Teacher that comes alongside us and illuminates His
• 9:47
  Word, puts feeling into His word.
• 9:50
  We know why God was so hurt and upset when the Israelites turned
• 9:55
  against him, when Solomon, who he gave wisdom and wealth to
• 10:00
  like no other, worship other gods.

  Talk about us stabbing him in the back when a man after God's
• 10:08
  own heart wanted somebody else's little lamb, somebody else's
• 10:12
  wife. David, I feel I feel the pain.

  You see, that's the Holy Spirit meeting me there and helping me
• 10:21
  understand God's word. So it's not just like just it's
• 10:24
  not like reading just a book. This is his book is living and
• 10:29
  active because the Holy Spirit helps us to understand it
• 10:33
  understand who he is and what it what happens.

  Kevin starts to change our hearts.

  We see God says to forgive the love of your enemies, love my
• 10:42
  enemies. I thought I was supposed to hate
• 10:45
  my dad said if anybody picks on me, I better beat him up and if
• 10:50
  I can't, I'm going he's going to beat me up.

  He'll give me like he didn't say beat up.
• 10:55
  He'll give me lickers. That's the that's the the
• 10:57
  coverings for to, to hide abuse now.

  Exactly. So I'm going to give you

  lickins. I'm going to beat you up.

  Can't you beat up? Because that's against the law.

  So those of that, the people out there that are listening that

  quote have tried the God thing, Doug before.

  Just like, you know, I went to church for 23 years of my life.

  After 23 years of my life, you know, shamefully, I sat in
• 11:23
  position of leadership, not qualified in any way to do that
• 11:27
  by the way, But nonetheless, I sat in those places, sat on
• 11:31
  those churches and and after 23 years, finally decided to walk
• 11:35
  away from that. Just like a lot of people, you
• 11:37
  know, we're kind of addressing here in this in their
• 11:39
  conversation today, because I was never taught how and to
• 11:45
  build a daily relationship with God, not in a Mystic sense,
• 11:50
  taking the mysticism out of out of the relationship of of what
• 11:54
  it means to have a relationship with God.
• 11:56
  And so that's what we know when it came and and met you and and
• 12:00
  sat and started learning at Christ built and and whereby
• 12:04
  starting to show up. And you know, we, I think a lot
• 12:07
  of people get disillusioned because their hearts don't
• 12:10
  change and their hearts don't heal and they, and they think,
• 12:13
  well, this God thing doesn't work for me.
• 12:16
  And they just, and then they go on to the next thing.
• 12:17
  Right, Doug, is that? Yeah, and it's for some people.
• 12:20
  Some people stay in the false churches and they're they're
• 12:23
  like cattle. And when they when they die and
• 12:26
  they see Jesus. Jesus, Hi.

  I don't know who you are. We never had a relationship, but
• 12:31
  I, but I had church activities in your name.
• 12:34
  I watched, I did children's church in your name.
• 12:36
  I never knew you. You didn't have a daily intimate
• 12:40
  relationship with me. You only call me when you need
• 12:42
  me. I'm not your I'm not your
• 12:44
  servant. You're mine.

  So they, they they missed the daily intimate relationship with
• 12:55
  God. They miss their job requirement.

  This is the this is the deal. Jesus doesn't hide it.

  He says count the cost. He said if you, if, if you're

  going to war against an army that has 25,000 men and you have
• 13:08
  10 trying to make it, try to try to make peace because you're
• 13:12
  going to lose, right? Yeah.

  You know, And he says if you're going to start building a tower
• 13:18
  and you run out of money halfway, you're going to look
• 13:20
  like a fool. Make sure you you, you know you
• 13:22
  have enough money to finish the tower.

  You know what it takes to be a Christian.

  Jesus doesn't beg people like the churches do.

  Wow. He he makes the the gate is

  narrow to enter. Why is it now you got to give up
• 13:38
  everything. But in order to do that, Kim, we
• 13:41
  have an opportunity to get to know him first.
• 13:44
  It's almost like dating your spouse to be spouse you, you get
• 13:48
  to know them and you start to love them minus the sex.

  You're supposed to minus the sex because the sex is an emotional
• 13:54
  connection that you have rose colored lenses on and you're in
• 13:58
  love. You think you're in love and 2.5

  kids later, you know I don't have anything to do in common
• 14:04
  with this person. You're divorced.

  But if you waited on the sex you would get to know their
• 14:09
  character. It's either, man, this person, I
• 14:12
  never follow this person, or never wanna live with this

  person. Yeah, 'cause how will you know
• 14:16
  when, when somebody cuts them off, you hear what they say?

  Hmm. Politics.

  You hear how they process things or they don't process anything.

  They're just kind of like brain dead.

  They just exist. So it's, it's, it's this the

  person you want to spend the rest of your life with.

  You're not supposed to get divorced.

  Right, right. That's how you find out about
• 14:36
  who they are. Same thing with God, right?

  You get to know him. And you, you say like a slave.

  They're supposed to let, they're supposed to release the slaves

  in seven years. Let them go.

  But some slaves didn't want to be released.

  Deuteronomy 15. They want to stay with their
• 14:53
  master because their master treats them like family.

  Even though they have the title slave, like our children,
• 14:59
  technically they got to listen to us so they can have the title

  slave. I'm a slave, but the master
• 15:06
  treats them like a family member.

  You have an equal. So they say I want to, I want to
• 15:11
  remain a slave. God says OK, punch a hole in
• 15:14
  your ear so I know that you willingly are staying there and
• 15:17
  you can't. That's I do that's salvation.

  You have a choice. It's up to you.

  But when you make the commitment like Jesus says, count the cost
• 15:26
  before you make it. We're not trying to fool you.

  We're not trying to trying to promise you that I'm going to
• 15:32
  give you every blessing you want and the road is going to be
• 15:35
  paved for you and you're going to I'm here at your every best.

  You caught us all. I'm not your Butler.

  Exactly, Doug. And you know, you said something

  really pointed that really just stuck out to me and that was
• 15:45
  rose colored glasses because that when I heard you, when I
• 15:51
  heard you say that, I was like, that was the churches that I
• 15:55
  went to. They presented the gospel
• 15:58
  through a rose, through rose colored glasses based on an
• 16:01
  emotional experience. And when that emotional
• 16:04
  experience ran out, then what was I left with?
• 16:08
  I was left with the same problems that I had before, with
• 16:13
  no way to fix them, no way to address them, no way to actually
• 16:18
  believe that I actually had a relationship with God because I
• 16:20
  was seeing and being presented this, the God, through a rose
• 16:25
  colored lens. That's exactly what I was being
• 16:28
  you. Know so yeah exactly see if you
• 16:31
  if you spend time with God if they even if they they gave you
• 16:35
  this rose colored lens but they connected you to God they showed
• 16:39
  you how to build a relationship with God and they gave you
• 16:43
  homework. See you ask I I told AI said if
• 16:47
  you ask 100 seniors in high school right now for the last 11
• 16:53
  years ask them if did you ever read ahead in your world history
• 16:57
  book when you didn't have to or go do extra chapters or extra
• 17:02
  homework when you didn't have to I asked how many people you
• 17:06
  think would raise their hand and it's a female's voice.
• 17:09
  It's a few to none because usually students will follow the
• 17:15
  lead of their teacher. Right.
• 17:17
  And they won't do extra at home. So thinking that taking that
• 17:22
  same wisdom. Now the pastors are teachers
• 17:26
  are. So if the pastor doesn't tell
• 17:29
  you to go home and read and spend time with God, how many
• 17:33
  people you think go home and read?
• 17:35
  Yeah. Very little.
• 17:36
  And and you have Satan stopping you from reading.
• 17:42
  Now sin keeps you from reading God's Word.

  God's word keeps you from seeing.
• 17:49
  So sitting doesn't want us to read, even if I know how
• 17:53
  valuable it is to read. One of the biggest things I
• 17:58
  struggle with is making the time to read.

  I rather clean the yard, wash the buses, and do labor work.

  Where I don't like doing anyway is read.

  And when I start reading, I love it.

  It's just getting there at times.

  Yeah, exactly. And that I experienced that

  myself, no question about that. But that's the route, that's the
• 18:21
  what connects us, that's what gives us the, that's what gives
• 18:26
  the Holy Spirit the opportunity to work in US is the truth from
• 18:31
  the word of God. Man shall not live by bread
• 18:34
  alone, but every word that proceeds out of the mouth of
• 18:36
  God. Matthew 4/4 So the life giving
• 18:39
  sustenance of God's Word, which is the truth, which is what the
• 18:43
  Holy Spirit can only work with in our lives right then.

  Right. And then when the bottom line is
• 18:48
  to make it very clear, it's my dad is very narrow.

  He's strict. It's his way or the highway.
• 18:57
  He's one of those old school guys.
• 18:59
  And as he got older, he's nicer to the grandkids, but he's

  grouchier with his his own kid. So the point I'm making is if
• 19:07
  you don't he, he's so picky and and he don't have a job.

  He's retired. So yes, my mom, he complaints
• 19:14
  about everything because when he was working, he, he, he, he
• 19:18
  complaints at work. He's not at home, but yet home
• 19:21
  you grumble about things. So living with him is very, very
• 19:26
  narrow. He's he's not going to let
• 19:29
  anybody live with him. He has to trust them and they
• 19:31
  have to be willing to do what he says.

  You cannot sit in the house during the day.

  You're out if you're a guy you're out if you're lounging
• 19:41
  around the house thinking you can watch TV that he's going to
• 19:44
  kick you to the curb. What is my point?

  Every person when you in their house to let people live there.

  There's standards, same with God, Heaven is his house.

  So only he's seen only the people that love me and want to
• 20:01
  spend every day with me and and communicate with me and build a
• 20:05
  relationship. We can live with me because

  that's where I live. So this is the choice.

  This is the time we have to choose you.

  Do we want to build a relationship with him?

  We have Jesus to to be able to to allow us to seek him and get
• 20:21
  to know Him. Yeah, exactly.

  And so and that's that that's what for me was the was the
• 20:30
  turning point in my in my in my relationship with God was
• 20:35
  knowing that I had I couldn't just have it my way.

  I which is a lot of people who we know we've talked about
• 20:42
  today, Doug in our in our program where they know the God
• 20:45
  thing hasn't worked for him because they they wanted to have
• 20:48
  as it were their own way. They've, they've come in with
• 20:50
  bad habits, with hurts in their hearts, with things that they
• 20:53
  want to carry into, you know, having a relationship with God
• 20:57
  and that, you know, that I hate to be the bearer of bad news,
• 20:59
  but that's kind of not the way it works, no.

  And, and you got to think Kevin is going to be a place where
• 21:05
  people love each other. They're thinking of others
• 21:08
  before themselves. They're not here.

  Why, why does why does Kevin get that?

  How come I don't get a hot dog too?

  It's. I'm glad Kevin has a hot dog.

  I'm good. You rejoice when other people
• 21:21
  get blessed. There's no sin, and that's why

  Satan got removed. There's no sin in heaven.

  So people you're not gonna have, we're not going to have the

  angels patrolling, right? They're not the Lord enforcement

  officers. There's a fight over there or

  not, you know, in castle three, You know what I mean?

  This really God is love and that's what we should be, what

  we will show sin came and contaminated that that's what
• 21:54
  God is going to purge when we get to heaven.

  So the people that are self-centered and selfish wanted

  their own way. They're going to go to hell with

  Satan. Satan wanted his home.

  There's a place for him. Satan's home AKA Hell or God's
• 22:11
  home AKA. Heaven.

  Exactly. Yeah.

  We choose, you know it's our choice now, knowing what we're

  telling. Them right exactly and this is

  the time now to address that look at life, not just from this
• 22:28
  Americanized culture that we got going on.

  There is a eternal perspective of life that we have to embrace
• 22:37
  and it and again, Doug, you always say it's your choice.

  And what we're here to do is we're here to give you the
• 22:43
  opportunity so you can make that choice from a educated, proper
• 22:49
  decision, not based on emotions, Mystic and all these other
• 22:52
  things that go on, but give you the grounded opportunity based
• 22:57
  on truth on how to build a relationship every single day
• 23:01
  and then make your assessment from that.
• 23:05
  Yes, and people get mistake, they make it like COVID because
• 23:08
  they don't they don't understand the word and they don't want to
• 23:12
  do their background work of sacrificing to find out.
• 23:17
  So you know what they do? They said it can't be.
• 23:20
  Yeah, it's it's by faith. They're very vague because they
• 23:24
  can't explain. That's when you don't know about
• 23:26
  something and you're trying to explain it to a 5 year old.

  They're asking you the simple questions, but are hard
• 23:31
  questions because you really don't know, right?
• 23:33
  You know, how does a brain work? What do you mean how does it
• 23:36
  work? It just works.
• 23:38
  I mean, they want to know how, and we don't really know how you
• 23:42
  know. We know it works, but we don't
• 23:43
  know the science behind. It.
• 23:45
  So we can't explain it. The pastors are supposed to know
• 23:49
  what it takes to enter the Kingdom of heaven, and they're
• 23:53
  supposed to know their job description in Ephesians 4.
• 23:56
  But they don't, so they get Mystic.

  Exactly, Doug, and what a great episode here, just sharing a

  heart with you about, you know, how to build a relationship with

  God, what it takes and addressing those folks that are

  listening out there whereby the God thing hasn't worked.
