- 0:00Speaker 1: Back with you on the next round presented by Hard
- 0:02Speaker 1: Rock Bets and Sporting State. Todd Furman joins us in
- 0:05Speaker 1: a second. I will not be the guy that says
- 0:07Speaker 1: we're already a quarter of the way through the season
- 0:09Speaker 1: after week three or any of that again this year.
- 0:11Speaker 1: But I will point out that on September 1st, which
- 0:16Speaker 1: is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Tuesday. That's when we start getting
- 0:21Speaker 1: less sunshine. I think we go back on the other
- 0:23Speaker 1: side of 7 o'clock.
- 0:24Speaker 2: We've already gotten that. I mean, it's just slowly, slowly draining.
- 0:28Speaker 2: And speaking of, you know, you always say we're a
- 0:30Speaker 2: quarter of the way through. We're sitting on the couch
- 0:32Speaker 2: last night, me and my buddy Heath, watching Rams-Chargers. And
- 0:35Speaker 2: you see it right there, 170 days until the Super Bowl.
- 0:38Speaker 2: I don't need to see that. No, I want to
- 0:39Speaker 2: feel like the Super Bowl is eight years away.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Yeah, right. On the Power, not Power Conference, but on
- 0:45Speaker 1: College Football Division I, we've got 948 games starting tomorrow.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I like the sound of that. It feels like it
- 0:53Speaker 1: could take forever to watch all that. You do not
- 0:54Speaker 1: like how much they get chopped away every weekend. Don't
- 0:57Speaker 1: say it.
- 0:57Speaker 2: I told you I'm panicked because my remote went out.
- 0:59Speaker 1: It's bad timing. Todd Furman is with us. CBS Sports
- 1:03Speaker 1: had Todd Furman on social media. Former odds maker at Caesars.
- 1:06Speaker 1: He is with us now. What is up, Furman? How
- 1:07Speaker 1: are you, buddy?
- 1:09Speaker 3: I'm doing well, gentlemen.
- 1:10Speaker 4: It was good to see college football kick off, at
- 1:12Speaker 4: least in the JV variety last night, although I watched
- 1:15Speaker 4: about two quarters of SPS games and found myself glued
- 1:18Speaker 4: to NFL preseason being a better product than what I
- 1:20Speaker 4: was intreated to.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Yeah, would agree with that, Furman, 100%. Looking at this
- 1:25Speaker 2: card tomorrow, I mean, let's start early. Last year, I
- 1:29Speaker 2: did have TCU in this game against North Carolina. North
- 1:32Speaker 2: Carolina looked pretty good on their first drive, and they
- 1:33Speaker 2: completely fell apart. Lost 48-14. To me, this game a
- 1:37Speaker 2: little more difficult to handicap. You're getting a lot of
- 1:40Speaker 2: points if you back North Carolina here. I don't know
- 1:43Speaker 2: what to expect out of Jaden Craig, TCU's quarterback.
- 1:47Speaker 4: I know what you expect out of either quarterback, honestly.
- 1:50Speaker 4: Billy Edwards looks like a lot of the robot videos
- 1:52Speaker 4: we've seen circulate on social media, at least through the
- 1:54Speaker 4: first two stops of his college career. If it's a
- 1:56Speaker 4: lower body part that breaks off midway through the second quarter,
- 1:59Speaker 4: I don't think anybody will be shocked. You mentioned Jaden
- 2:02Speaker 4: Craig taking over, the FCS transfer from Harvard, and for
- 2:05Speaker 4: all those years when Bill Belichick was at the height
- 2:07Speaker 4: of his powers, We heard about rookie quarterbacks struggling to
- 2:10Speaker 4: figure out a Bill Belichick-led defense. Will that still apply
- 2:13Speaker 4: tomorrow when we look at unfamiliar surroundings? Keeping in mind
- 2:17Speaker 4: that last year, Josh Hoover had a level of experience
- 2:19Speaker 4: when he led that TCU offense after they got themselves
- 2:22Speaker 4: down early, were able to barnstorm to that 48-14 win.
- 2:25Speaker 4: North Carolina defensively last year continued to get better week
- 2:29Speaker 4: over week. And the one thing that they did exceptionally
- 2:31Speaker 4: well under Belichick's leadership, I guess a little Belichick who
- 2:34Speaker 4: won't be with the team on medical leave, was they
- 2:37Speaker 4: were great at preventing explosive plays. And I think in
- 2:40Speaker 4: college football, if you can force the team to move
- 2:41Speaker 4: the ball methodically down the field, It's going to set
- 2:44Speaker 4: you up well, especially as an underdog catching more than
- 2:47Speaker 4: a touchdown. This game opened six and a half. We've
- 2:49Speaker 4: kind of ballooned through that key number of seven and ten.
- 2:51Speaker 4: No man's land. But the angle I want to attack, guys,
- 2:54Speaker 4: is looking to go under the total in the first half.
- 2:56Speaker 4: I think it'll be a little bit of a feeling
- 2:58Speaker 4: out process for these two teams. We've seen these games
- 3:00Speaker 4: that kick off in Europe start a little slow before
- 3:02Speaker 4: they find their sea legs, so to speak, in the
- 3:04Speaker 4: second half. I'll go under 23 and a half in
- 3:07Speaker 4: the first half between UNC and TCU. And if the
- 3:09Speaker 4: game did get to 10, I would be forced to
- 3:11Speaker 4: value bet North Carolina much to my better judgment.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Okay this is gonna scare you but that's exactly where
- 3:16Speaker 1: I was gonna go on the under because I don't
- 3:19Speaker 1: know if you've checked the forecast but when I did
- 3:21Speaker 1: yesterday it's supposed to be a sloppy sloppy track I
- 3:25Speaker 1: don't know if it'll be raining during the game but
- 3:27Speaker 1: it's possible and it's gonna be a slop a slop fest.
- 3:31Speaker 4: The rain looks to be the one part of the
- 3:33Speaker 4: variable that could be up in the air, but to
- 3:35Speaker 4: your point, Dunaway, it could be steady winds, 12 to
- 3:38Speaker 4: 15 miles an hour. And for two teams that probably
- 3:40Speaker 4: want to run the football a little bit more than
- 3:42Speaker 4: we've grown accustomed to, especially on the TCU side, let's
- 3:45Speaker 4: hope slow and methodical, and maybe we can break bread
- 3:48Speaker 4: together starting the season off with a winner where you
- 3:51Speaker 4: and I actually see the game unfolding the same way.
- 3:54Speaker 1: All right, what is the story, Furman, on this injury
- 3:56Speaker 1: report for, or excuse me, this availability report for Virginia?
- 3:59Speaker 1: 18 names, I believe, is what was on this report.
- 4:04Speaker 1: What's the story on Virginia's depth and their availability of
- 4:08Speaker 1: players for this game against NC State?
- 4:11Speaker 4: Nothing like playing these shell games early on in the season,
- 4:14Speaker 4: trying to figure out who will be out there and
- 4:15Speaker 4: who won't be out there. And week zero and week
- 4:18Speaker 4: one are some of the more difficult weeks in the
- 4:20Speaker 4: college football schedule to figure out who actually got hurt
- 4:22Speaker 4: during camp, how transparent we're going to be with what
- 4:25Speaker 4: guys could be out there. And for a Virginia team
- 4:28Speaker 4: that I think will have a target on their back
- 4:30Speaker 4: after the improbable season they put together last year, you
- 4:33Speaker 4: wonder how this game will go. We can start with
- 4:35Speaker 4: the number and where it opened, or I should say reopened,
- 4:38Speaker 4: after we knew it was going to move to Scott
- 4:40Speaker 4: Stadium from the neutral site in Brazil. Virginia in that
- 4:44Speaker 4: 4-4.5 range. Number did get as high as 6 earlier
- 4:47Speaker 4: this week. Before, there was a pretty pronounced buy that
- 4:50Speaker 4: came in from professional bettors on NC State.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Part of the reason we've driven.
- 4:53Speaker 4: The number down to four, whether that was just a
- 4:55Speaker 4: power reading that was off or the injury and player
- 4:58Speaker 4: availability report you're alluding to, hard to figure out exactly
- 5:01Speaker 4: what's contributing. But the under money, very real as well,
- 5:04Speaker 4: 53 down to 51. And one of the strengths for Virginia,
- 5:07Speaker 4: at least on paper coming into this year, was the
- 5:09Speaker 4: level of experience. that they had not just along the
- 5:12Speaker 4: offensive and defensive line, but at a number of other
- 5:14Speaker 4: key positions. The biggest change for Virginia, Chandler Morris hands
- 5:18Speaker 4: it off to Bo Pribula, the starting quarterback. So you
- 5:20Speaker 4: can make the case that NC State comes in with
- 5:23Speaker 4: a higher-ceiling quarterback in C.J. Bailey. I'm not a Dave
- 5:26Speaker 4: Doran truther by any stretch, but given all the uncertainty
- 5:30Speaker 4: and some of the player availability that you mentioned, this
- 5:33Speaker 4: is a game that I think I'd rather look to
- 5:34Speaker 4: try and bet live than get involved before it kicks
- 5:37Speaker 4: off with Virginia a four-point favorite total sitting at 51.
- 5:40Speaker 2: The bison of North Dakota State, dominant for years in
- 5:44Speaker 2: the FCS. Now they go to the FBS, and they're
- 5:46Speaker 2: hosting Jacksonville State, who was a tough out the last
- 5:50Speaker 2: couple of years. And it's a big number for them.
- 5:52Speaker 2: It's six and a half.
- 5:55Speaker 4: It is, and we saw a little bit of money
- 5:56Speaker 4: finally start to come in on North Dakota State yesterday.
- 6:00Speaker 4: This number, though, was as high as the Bison, a
- 6:02Speaker 4: 10-point favorite this offseason, which I think was a big,
- 6:05Speaker 4: big price tag. We'll see what their transition looks like
- 6:08Speaker 4: from the FCS to the FBS. But in my opinion,
- 6:11Speaker 4: they're in a much better position than the other counterpart
- 6:13Speaker 4: that's going to do that in Cal State Sacramento. North
- 6:16Speaker 4: Dakota State, interestingly enough, has lost some of their depth
- 6:19Speaker 4: pieces over the last couple of years. It's not the
- 6:22Speaker 4: same juggernaut that we grew accustomed to, but oddsmakers, they
- 6:25Speaker 4: feel a little bit differently. I mean, North Dakota State's
- 6:28Speaker 4: win total sat at 9.5, and it got bet under substantially,
- 6:32Speaker 4: sitting at 8.5 kind of across the board. Wild stat
- 6:35Speaker 4: digging into this game, guys, that North Dakota State has
- 6:37Speaker 4: had more quarterbacks drafted into the NFL over the last
- 6:40Speaker 4: decade than than Alabama. So it puts things in perspective
- 6:43Speaker 4: in terms of what they've been able to build up
- 6:45Speaker 4: there in Fargo. This number, where I think you get
- 6:48Speaker 4: the difference of opinions is trying to figure out what
- 6:51Speaker 4: home field advantage will be worth in a game like this.
- 6:54Speaker 4: Playing in a dome when you don't have any of
- 6:55Speaker 4: those real reps can be a little bit louder. I'll
- 6:58Speaker 4: credit Brad Powers, one of my college football colleagues out
- 7:00Speaker 4: there saying North Dakota State's program has gotten a little
- 7:02Speaker 4: apathetic over the years. This may be the juice they
- 7:06Speaker 4: need to get them to the next step. And I
- 7:08Speaker 4: think you're going to have to try and account for
- 7:09Speaker 4: a home field advantage that arguably may be the most
- 7:12Speaker 4: electric in all of the games that we're going to
- 7:14Speaker 4: see unfold in week zero. So it's six and a
- 7:16Speaker 4: half strong, strong lean towards North Dakota State at minus
- 7:19Speaker 4: six and a half. I'm not a buyer in Jacksonville
- 7:21Speaker 4: State who's going to have to replace a high level
- 7:23Speaker 4: of production that I just don't see on the roster
- 7:25Speaker 4: after Cam Cook left campus.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Furman. The Fargo Dome is not louder than Brothers Bar
- 7:31Speaker 1: in Jacksonville. Jacksonville State players have dealt with this. You
- 7:35Speaker 1: go to Brothers on a Thursday night, Velcro pygmies in there.
- 7:38Speaker 1: That's a loud play. They've dealt with this. Fargo Dome
- 7:41Speaker 1: is going to be nothing for Jacksonville State.
- 7:43Speaker 4: Look, I've seen a lot of conference USA games played
- 7:46Speaker 4: over the last couple of years since Jacksonville State made
- 7:49Speaker 4: its transition to the FBS. And let me tell you,
- 7:53Speaker 4: there'll be a few more bodies in attendance here than
- 7:55Speaker 4: what you'll see in Murfreesboro on a Tuesday night against
- 7:57Speaker 4: Middle Tennessee.
- 7:59Speaker 1: The 3 o'clock, 2 o'clock NBC game, 3 Eastern, 2 Central,
- 8:02Speaker 1: San Jose State, USC, I think people see San Jose State,
- 8:06Speaker 1: they're familiar with that brand, like Fresno State, San Jose State,
- 8:11Speaker 1: San Diego State. But from my research, the San Jose
- 8:14Speaker 1: State team looks pretty, pretty bad. How do you play
- 8:16Speaker 1: a game like that with that many points involved with
- 8:18Speaker 1: USC and how bad I personally believe the Spartans are?
- 8:23Speaker 4: You would be correct in your assessment. I think Kenya
- 8:25Speaker 4: Matalolo has his hands full trying to get this program
- 8:29Speaker 4: back to where it was when Brett Brennan left off
- 8:31Speaker 4: for Arizona.
- 8:32Speaker 1: You lose your.
- 8:33Speaker 4: Top receiver to Colorado in Danny Scudero. Your quarterback's position
- 8:36Speaker 4: is a little bit unsettled. And the one thing we've
- 8:38Speaker 4: seen from Lincoln Riley, he loves to beat up on
- 8:41Speaker 4: cream puffs on the schedule whenever he's given the opportunity.
- 8:45Speaker 4: You look at some of the crooked numbers the Trojans
- 8:47Speaker 4: have produced. against g6 opponents and i think this could
- 8:50Speaker 4: be more of the same usc opened as a 35
- 8:53Speaker 4: and a half point favorite we're now out to that
- 8:55Speaker 4: 39 39 and a half range totals moved from as
- 8:58Speaker 4: low as 56 out to 61 and guys i wouldn't
- 9:01Speaker 4: be surprised if usc found a way to get to
- 9:03Speaker 4: 60 themselves build a little confidence for jayden mayava and
- 9:07Speaker 4: some young inexperienced wide receivers as they look to replace
- 9:10Speaker 4: lemon and lane out there as wide receiver one and
- 9:13Speaker 4: wide receiver two so i want no part of the
- 9:15Speaker 4: underdog would lean over the total though. If San Jose
- 9:18Speaker 4: State can get seven to 10 points, I think you're
- 9:20Speaker 4: comfortably talking about this game going over the total of 61.
- 9:23Speaker 1: The nightcap on Fox nine o'clock central time actually two
- 9:26Speaker 1: college football playoff contenders Memphis is facing UNLV in Vegas
- 9:31Speaker 1: um Dan Mullen is a guy listen he's coached at
- 9:34Speaker 1: a high level and he's got a quarterback that has
- 9:36Speaker 1: played at a high level but not played well at
- 9:38Speaker 1: that high level UNLV is kind of a fascinating team
- 9:41Speaker 1: this year Furman and they're in your backyard what is
- 9:44Speaker 1: the feel for the running rebs on the football field.
- 9:47Speaker 4: You mentioned all the games being the nightcap and I
- 9:50Speaker 4: claim on social media yesterday, this is the most intriguing
- 9:53Speaker 4: for just the case that you laid out there, Brownie.
- 9:55Speaker 4: I think both these teams have aspirations of being that
- 9:58Speaker 4: G6 representative in the college football playoff. And Memphis is
- 10:02Speaker 4: going to have to prove their mettle early on, not
- 10:04Speaker 4: just this week against UNLV, but they'll follow it up
- 10:07Speaker 4: against Boise State next week. So if Memphis can come
- 10:09Speaker 4: out of those two games 2-0, I think the expectations
- 10:13Speaker 4: really get ratcheted up for Charles Huff in his first
- 10:15Speaker 4: year at the helm. UNLV on the flip side, that
- 10:17Speaker 4: was a camp battle that I think lasted a lot
- 10:20Speaker 4: longer than Rebel fans would like to see because anyone
- 10:22Speaker 4: who has watched Alex Orji attempt to throw a forward pass,
- 10:25Speaker 4: whether it's at UNLV or Michigan, has to be extremely
- 10:28Speaker 4: scared that he was able to push Jackson Arnold as
- 10:31Speaker 4: much as he was. But then you talk to Auburn
- 10:33Speaker 4: fans in your neck of the woods and they go, yeah,
- 10:34Speaker 4: we saw this coming. We saw enough of Jackson Arnold
- 10:37Speaker 4: to know exactly what UNLV is going to be getting.
- 10:39Speaker 4: So I think you're going to see both quarterbacks out there.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Been interesting to watch this number move as well. The
- 10:44Speaker 4: Rebels actually opened as a three-point favorite during the summer.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Number got as high as six, six and a half
- 10:48Speaker 4: out here. And you start to see some Memphis money
- 10:51Speaker 4: show up earlier this week. The same can be said
- 10:53Speaker 4: about the total that's been bet down from 58 and
- 10:55Speaker 4: a half down to 56. It looks like Marcus Stokes
- 10:59Speaker 4: is going to get the nod for Memphis. A little
- 11:01Speaker 4: bit of a surprise to Ohio State fans that thought
- 11:03Speaker 4: it could be Aaron Nolan. I think both these teams
- 11:06Speaker 4: are going to try and establish the run. I'm not
- 11:07Speaker 4: sure either of these head coaches has the utmost confidence
- 11:10Speaker 4: in their quarterbacks basically gripping and ripping. UNLV's defense should
- 11:14Speaker 4: be improved from the group that we saw early last
- 11:16Speaker 4: year where they were kind of in a state of flux.
- 11:18Speaker 4: I think this is a Memphis program that is actually
- 11:20Speaker 4: going to see an uptick in their overall level of
- 11:22Speaker 4: on-field production this what Charles Hoffman said of what Ryan
- 11:25Speaker 4: Silverfield couldn't do there. I like this game under the
- 11:27Speaker 4: total at 56 and a half, and I will make
- 11:30Speaker 4: a rare college football appearance in person. I'm going to
- 11:33Speaker 4: head to Allegiant stadium to see this one live tonight.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Oh, that'll be exciting. One more college game for me here.
- 11:38Speaker 4: That didn't sound authentic at all. That didn't sound authentic
- 11:41Speaker 4: at all.
- 11:43Speaker 1: That'll be very exciting. That'll be tremendously exciting to capture that.
- 11:48Speaker 1: I mean, it's a big game. I'm looking forward to it.
- 11:50Speaker 1: I plan my night around it. Hawaii is at Stanford.
- 11:54Speaker 1: And for the casual out there, they're going to think
- 11:56Speaker 1: Stanford is Stanford and Andrew Luck and those guys. They've
- 11:59Speaker 1: got a history. But Timmy Chang has done a job
- 12:02Speaker 1: on the island here. And this is a great opportunity
- 12:05Speaker 1: on this day to really showcase where he has this program.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Tell me what you think of Hawaii and Stanford.
- 12:11Speaker 4: So this is a game that I bet early on,
- 12:14Speaker 4: laid some 3.5 and 4 with Stanford, but I'll be
- 12:16Speaker 4: lying here, guys, if I sat 24-plus hours before the
- 12:19Speaker 4: game and said I was as optimistic about my position
- 12:22Speaker 4: on the game as I was when I bet it.
- 12:24Speaker 4: The main reason for that is that Stanford is dealing
- 12:27Speaker 4: with some injuries along the offensive line, cluster injuries at that,
- 12:31Speaker 4: especially at the left tackle position. They have a player,
- 12:33Speaker 4: and I'm not going to even try and butcher his name,
- 12:35Speaker 4: that was projected by some to be a fringe first-round pick.
- 12:38Speaker 4: His backup is out. If he can't go, it changes
- 12:41Speaker 4: some of what Stanford wants to do, especially in the
- 12:44Speaker 4: power run game against the Hawaii team that they were
- 12:47Speaker 4: able to wear down for long stretches last year before
- 12:49Speaker 4: a costly interception allowed Hawaii to pull off a de
- 12:52Speaker 4: facto upset, depending on where you captured the number. The
- 12:55Speaker 4: problem with Hawaii in this spot, and while I know
- 12:58Speaker 4: it's an offense that's extremely quarterback friendly, Mike Alohato is
- 13:00Speaker 4: going to put up big numbers here. I do think
- 13:02Speaker 4: the inexperience of wide receiver, losing Jackson Harris, who transferred
- 13:06Speaker 4: to LSU, and Pofeli Ashlock, who's dealing with a lower
- 13:09Speaker 4: body injury, expected to return this season, we'll see when,
- 13:12Speaker 4: can create a little bit of an issue when it
- 13:14Speaker 4: comes to getting quarterback and receiver on the same page timing-wise.
- 13:17Speaker 4: Stanford wants to run the ball. They want to bully
- 13:19Speaker 4: you in the trenches. So I still think Stanford is
- 13:22Speaker 4: worth a bet at that minus three and a half,
- 13:24Speaker 4: minus four threshold. I'm just not nearly as strong on
- 13:27Speaker 4: the Cardinal as I would have been. But I do
- 13:29Speaker 4: think getting Tavita Pritchard in there as a head coach,
- 13:31Speaker 4: Andrew Luck having his fingerprints all over this offense will
- 13:33Speaker 4: allow Stanford to start to build an identity that they've
- 13:36Speaker 4: really lacked since David Shaw lost his fastball at the
- 13:39Speaker 4: end of his Stanford coaching career.
- 13:40Speaker 2: You got bored last night and gravitated from the FCS
- 13:43Speaker 2: to preseason. I know you don't dabble in the preseason.
- 13:46Speaker 2: I've traditionally been good giving out preseason picks. I have
- 13:49Speaker 2: gotten dismembered this preseason. The Dogs 4-0 again last night.
- 13:55Speaker 2: The Dogs covering these preseason games first three weeks has
- 13:59Speaker 2: been insane. What's going on with the sportsbooks? I know
- 14:02Speaker 2: the handles aren't big, but I would assume the public
- 14:05Speaker 2: is just killing it.
- 14:07Speaker 4: I don't think you've been doing this how long. And
- 14:09Speaker 4: when the dogs win, the public's killing it. I think
- 14:11Speaker 4: you've lost your way over there, my friend. This is
- 14:15Speaker 4: typically a good thing for the house, especially given that
- 14:17Speaker 4: the Raiders have struggled. I talked to a local bookmaker
- 14:20Speaker 4: last night. He said, I'll be at your point, low
- 14:23Speaker 4: volume that people were betting the Raiders, knowing that you
- 14:25Speaker 4: were going to get Kirk Cousins for a couple of
- 14:26Speaker 4: drives and Fernando Mendoza against the 49ers backup. Like they
- 14:30Speaker 4: knew the outcome before the game kicked. What people fail
- 14:32Speaker 4: to realize in handicapping some of these games is that
- 14:34Speaker 4: if you don't have an offensive or defensive line that
- 14:36Speaker 4: can protect your second or third string quarterback, it's a
- 14:39Speaker 4: real problem. But I, much like you, have kind of
- 14:42Speaker 4: been blown away with the high level of success that
- 14:45Speaker 4: we've seen from underdogs. It's amazing what Sean McVay has
- 14:47Speaker 4: been able to do, a guy who has kind of
- 14:49Speaker 4: thrown away the preseason in the past. Last night marked
- 14:52Speaker 4: the ninth straight cover for the Rams. That we've seen
- 14:55Speaker 4: an exhibition football Ty Simpson looking the part. And so
- 14:58Speaker 4: the dynamics around a lot of this has changed. Some
- 15:01Speaker 4: of the games that we've seen move through the on
- 15:04Speaker 4: the board for tonight, you know, a little bit of
- 15:05Speaker 4: Falcons money come in with that number from three out
- 15:08Speaker 4: to four Kevin Stefanski talking about actual game prep. I'm
- 15:11Speaker 4: not sure that means a whole heck of a lot,
- 15:13Speaker 4: but I've cast dispersions enough at Brown so far to
- 15:15Speaker 4: talk about the corpse of two out there throwing passes
- 15:18Speaker 4: to NFL caliber wide receivers. We've seen a line flip
- 15:22Speaker 4: from Kansas City, went from a one point favorite Seattle
- 15:25Speaker 4: minus two and a half. And the numbers come back
- 15:27Speaker 4: with the announcement that Jalen Milrow is going to get
- 15:29Speaker 4: the lion's share of the reps. I think Seattle makes
- 15:31Speaker 4: a world of sense because I think they're the deeper roster,
- 15:33Speaker 4: even with Milrow. So it took a long look there.
- 15:36Speaker 4: And I also think the Minnesota Vikings, a little bit
- 15:38Speaker 4: of a live underdog catching the points along with the
- 15:40Speaker 4: New Orleans Saints. So I haven't been in these yet.
- 15:42Speaker 4: I typically wait, you know, real close to kickoff unless
- 15:44Speaker 4: I know a number is going to move for the preseason.
- 15:46Speaker 4: But that's kind of the games that I'm focused on.
- 15:49Speaker 4: That quartet trying to zero in and see if there's
- 15:51Speaker 4: a better two to be made tonight.
- 15:53Speaker 1: All right, Todd Furman. He is on social media, at
- 15:55Speaker 1: Todd Furman. Great follow anytime, but especially during football season.
- 15:58Speaker 1: You see him on CBS as well. And he's kind
- 16:01Speaker 1: with his time throughout the season with us on Fridays. Furman,
- 16:04Speaker 1: toe-finely meeting leather, my friend. Enjoy the weekend.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Always excited.
- 16:08Speaker 4: You guys do the same. And Dunaway, if we agree
- 16:10Speaker 4: too much on college football games this year, the NHL
- 16:12Speaker 4: season can't get here fast enough.
- 16:14Speaker 1: To salvage my bankroll, my friend. See you forever. Thank you, buddy.
- 16:19Speaker 1: I'll try to keep you in the positive in your
- 16:20Speaker 1: checking account there. He normally does. Bold predictions continue on
- 16:24Speaker 1: the other side. One is we had to break here.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Jake writes in, Texas Tech misses the college football playoffs.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Indiana misses the college football playoff. We've got to have
- 16:34Speaker 1: 12 teams now. That's right. Somebody's got to be there.
- 16:36Speaker 1: And Georgia Tech plays in the ACC championship game for
- 16:39Speaker 1: a trip to the college football playoff on the line.
- 16:41Speaker 1: That's Jake's three bowl predictions. We've given you ours already.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Get yours rolling in as well. Oh, here's one more.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Here's Zach. Zach writes in, Shane Beamer fired at the
- 16:52Speaker 1: end of October.
- 16:54Speaker 2: I'd have to pull that schedule, but, I mean, he
- 16:56Speaker 2: is your odds-on favorite in the SEC to get fired.
- 16:59Speaker 1: I think he turns it around this year, keeps his job.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Virginia will be in the ACC championship game. You sort
- 17:05Speaker 1: of like that one, right?
- 17:06Speaker 2: I do, yeah.
- 17:06Speaker 1: They can survive tomorrow. They got no players, Lance.
- 17:09Speaker 4: I know. I know.
- 17:09Speaker 1: I hear that. And here's the boldest of Zachs altogether.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Camario Taylor is a Heisman finalist. That'd be a top four.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Got to have some wins to get to be a
- 17:18Speaker 1: Heisman finalist.
- 17:19Speaker 2: I think Robert— Barry Sanders, 8-4. What was our G3?
- 17:25Speaker 3: 10-2. 9-3?
- 17:26Speaker 1: I think it was 10-2. I thought it was 7-4. No,
- 17:29Speaker 1: it was 10-2. I think they were in the Alamo Bowl, right?
- 17:34Speaker 2: I don't have any more nuts to bet, but I
- 17:36Speaker 2: would bet a left nut that they were 10 wins.
- 17:39Speaker 1: So Camario will need to win some games to go
- 17:41Speaker 1: with his wowed, wowed, athletic ability zach thank you um
- 17:46Speaker 1: also jake thank you for your bold predictions more coming
- 17:48Speaker 1: up on the other side this is the next round
- 17:50Speaker 1: presented by hard rock bets on sport and state we
- 17:53Speaker 1: continue on the next round presented by hard rock battle
- 17:57Speaker 1: sport and state i'm just going to completely pull the
- 17:59Speaker 1: uh curtain back somebody brought us breakfast and we were
- 18:03Speaker 1: all eating in the break so everyone is going to
- 18:05Speaker 1: return to the studio at a various time and all
- 18:08Speaker 1: of us are going to be finishing something we were
- 18:12Speaker 1: eating during the break.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Well, Lance was using his Yeti cup to pour water
- 18:17Speaker 3: on his hands to wash the syrup from his sandwich off.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I finally ate one of those waffle sandwiches with chicken
- 18:23Speaker 2: and waffles. Very good, but very messy.
- 18:25Speaker 1: I've had two, one every day for lunch the last
- 18:28Speaker 1: two days. Spicy filet is the way to go in it,
- 18:30Speaker 1: in my opinion. Have you already done Clay Travis Law?
- 18:33Speaker 1: We have not. No, we just got back. I had
- 18:35Speaker 1: to swallow a chicken mini so I could welcome us back.
- 18:39Speaker 1: So I can't leave you guys one second to go
- 18:41Speaker 1: to the bathroom during this new show? We cannot be unsupervised.
- 18:46Speaker 1: There's no doubt. Hey, as we return, it's our three-guarantee show.
- 18:48Speaker 1: We're getting some more guarantees. I mean, keep it professional, guys.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Come on. Come on. Shortly after Lance tells you about
- 18:55Speaker 1: our good friends at Clay Travis Law, Lance.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Hey, accidents do not wait for a good time. One
- 19:00Speaker 2: bad moment, a wreck, a fall, doctor who wasn't paying attention. Suddenly,
- 19:04Speaker 2: you're fighting an insurance company that does this every single day.
- 19:08Speaker 2: That's why Clay started Clay Travis Law, built a firm
- 19:11Speaker 2: around one idea. People deserve someone willing to pay attention,
- 19:14Speaker 2: ask the hard questions, and push back when things don't
- 19:17Speaker 2: add up. Experienced trial attorneys... who bring the fight to
- 19:20Speaker 2: corporations and insurers. Based in Nashville, trusted across the country,
- 19:25Speaker 2: they lead negotiations with honesty, determination, and southern grit. Case
- 19:29Speaker 2: evaluation free, no charge, no pressure, no hassle. Just tell
- 19:33Speaker 2: them your story. Go to claytravislaw.com or call 877-222-4444. That's claytravislaw.com.
- 19:36Speaker 2: No case is too big or too small.
- 19:42Speaker 1: So did everybody get a sandwich but me? No, no, no.
- 19:45Speaker 1: The minis are back there. Lance was the only one
- 19:47Speaker 1: who got the sandwich. Oh, okay. You want some minis?
- 19:49Speaker 1: I can read some. guarantees if you want to go
- 19:50Speaker 1: get some. Don't play the victim. No, no, no.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Maddie brought food for everyone.
- 19:54Speaker 1: She brought food for everyone. Well, I appreciate that. I'm
- 19:56Speaker 1: just not a huge mini fan. Oh, okay. The minis
- 20:00Speaker 1: are fantastic. No, this waffle. I mean, they serve that
- 20:03Speaker 1: 24 hours a day. If you'd have had the minis,
- 20:05Speaker 1: they'd all serve those waffles. I never get the minis, ever.
- 20:09Speaker 1: My daughter gets them, and she normally has, like, one left.
- 20:11Speaker 1: I really like the minis.
- 20:12Speaker 2: You know who gets the minis? Bullet and Chili.
- 20:15Speaker 1: They love them. They get everything that's left out there.
- 20:17Speaker 1: It looks like Bullet and Chili are back there eating.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Somebody brings food up here during this show, and it
- 20:21Speaker 1: gets just about. But there is some left, Jim. Well,
- 20:24Speaker 1: there was a couple of times we had, like, cookie
- 20:26Speaker 1: dough brought up here.
- 20:27Speaker 2: That was nasty.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Real Cruz Ox. Did I say that right? You know
- 20:34Speaker 1: who I'm talking about? Cruz Ox? Yeah, Cruz Ox. On
- 20:38Speaker 1: social media, his three guarantees. Bama makes the semis. I
- 20:44Speaker 1: like that. Final four. LSU misses the playoffs. And Auburn
- 20:49Speaker 1: doesn't go to a bowl game this year.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Oof. Of those three, what is the most bold? I
- 20:57Speaker 2: don't think LSU's going to the playoff. Alabama getting to
- 21:00Speaker 2: the semis would be quite the run, but I could
- 21:03Speaker 2: see it.
- 21:03Speaker 1: That's at least one win if you have a bye.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Two wins if you don't have a bye.
- 21:09Speaker 2: I think the boldest is Auburn going 5-7.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Yeah, boy, that would be highly disappointing. I was talking
- 21:15Speaker 1: to an Auburn fan on my way in yesterday for
- 21:16Speaker 1: about 20 minutes, and Alex Golish has sold him. Auburn fans,
- 21:20Speaker 1: I think, started out with Golish as cautiously optimistic. I've
- 21:24Speaker 1: been burned by Horson. I've been burned by Freeze. I'm
- 21:26Speaker 1: going to be cautiously optimistic with this guy. And more
- 21:29Speaker 1: and more Auburn fans I'm talking to, they've dropped the cautious.
- 21:32Speaker 1: He has won them over. And if he threw up
- 21:34Speaker 1: a five-win season, I think Auburn fans would be like, God,
- 21:37Speaker 1: I've been burned again.
- 21:38Speaker 2: I was talking to our friends at Crane U, and
- 21:39Speaker 2: they're kind of split. There's some Alabama, there's some Auburn.
- 21:41Speaker 2: But talking to some of the Auburn fans, very optimistic
- 21:44Speaker 2: as well. And they believe that he's saying all the
- 21:46Speaker 2: right things. And we started talking about Nick Saban could
- 21:50Speaker 2: have done anything and been successful, could have run any
- 21:52Speaker 2: Fortune 500 company. The way Golish talks is like he
- 21:56Speaker 2: is leading a corporation. He's building something. an organization. So
- 22:00Speaker 2: it sounds great on the surface. We'll see what the
- 22:02Speaker 2: results end up being, but I would be very surprised
- 22:04Speaker 2: if they were five and seven.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I've seen some very popular Auburn makes a bowl game and,
- 22:09Speaker 1: you know, slotted for the Birmingham bowl again, like six
- 22:12Speaker 1: and six in the Birmingham bowl. And I asked one
- 22:14Speaker 1: fan last night, I said, bowl game, just make a
- 22:18Speaker 1: bowl game. And I said, what if it's the Birmingham bowl?
- 22:20Speaker 1: And he's like, it's still, it's not a losing season.
- 22:23Speaker 1: I would take that. And that's how bad it has been.
- 22:26Speaker 1: It's gotten bad. Cause the Birmingham bowl, here in the state,
- 22:29Speaker 1: from Alabama fans to Auburn fans, has become sort of
- 22:32Speaker 1: an open wound. You get to go Vestavia Bowl, people.
- 22:35Speaker 1: You go bowling at Vestavia Bowl. Bradley writes in, the
- 22:38Speaker 1: Big Ten will not win the natty this year. It's
- 22:41Speaker 1: sad to say that that's become a bowl prediction. It
- 22:43Speaker 1: really is. How times have changed. Georgia or Alabama will
- 22:48Speaker 1: not be undefeated when they play each other. So both
- 22:51Speaker 1: of them lose one game before they play each other.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Wait, Georgia and Bama?
- 22:56Speaker 1: Yeah, each losing one game before them.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Oklahoma beats Georgia.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Keep going.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to pull that real quick.
- 23:02Speaker 1: The Bama loss is a bad one. Oklahoma beating Georgia
- 23:04Speaker 1: wouldn't be an awful loss. The Bama loss would be
- 23:06Speaker 1: a bad one no matter who it is. The third-string
- 23:09Speaker 1: quarterback at Alabama will play by midseason. That would be
- 23:12Speaker 1: Jet Tomiloff.
- 23:14Speaker 2: I am going to say this is not an Alabama fan.
- 23:18Speaker 1: People are high on Jet Tomlin.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Yeah, Alabama's going to be at least, I don't know
- 23:23Speaker 2: if they're going to be seven at Mississippi State, probably.
- 23:25Speaker 2: At least touchdown favorites in every one of these games
- 23:28Speaker 2: before they play Georgia.
- 23:29Speaker 1: It's been a sexy offseason pick, Mississippi State beating Alabama
- 23:32Speaker 1: for some reason.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Yeah, it really has been. Our buddy Brad Jackson, who
- 23:36Speaker 2: was there last night, he's got Mississippi State ties. He
- 23:39Speaker 2: thinks that's an 11 a.m. game over there.
- 23:41Speaker 1: It may have already been announced. You would want that,
- 23:44Speaker 1: wouldn't you?
- 23:44Speaker 2: I mean, maybe. Georgia, yeah. Oklahoma at home, that would still.
- 23:49Speaker 2: I mean, Oklahoma's going to be good. I agree, but
- 23:51Speaker 2: that would not be a great loss.
- 23:53Speaker 1: That would be bold. Caleb writes in his bold predictions.
- 23:56Speaker 1: LSU beats Ole Miss by double digits. Boy, that'd be
- 24:00Speaker 1: bad for Pistol Pete.
- 24:01Speaker 2: And we will definitely see things thrown in the field.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Caleb has Alabama going 11-1 in the regular season, Miami
- 24:08Speaker 1: missing the playoffs.
- 24:11Speaker 2: I mean, they almost did last year. I don't know
- 24:13Speaker 2: if this Miami team is going to be as good
- 24:15Speaker 2: as it was last year.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Some bold prediction. Brett is on the phones with us.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Brett from New Mexico, our truck driving friend that drives
- 24:23Speaker 1: all across America and keeps us in check in his cab. Brett,
- 24:28Speaker 1: welcome back to the show. Your bold predictions in a second.
- 24:30Speaker 1: But first of all, thanks for coming all the way
- 24:32Speaker 1: down to the kickoff party last night at Walk-On's. It
- 24:35Speaker 1: was great to see you. And for those that may
- 24:38Speaker 1: not have recognized Brett last night, what was the big
- 24:40Speaker 1: change in your life, Brett?
- 24:43Speaker 3: Besides losing a lot of weight?
- 24:45Speaker 1: No, I would say losing a lot of weight. I mean,
- 24:48Speaker 1: you've done the marriage thing before. Yeah.
- 24:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Unfortunately, too many times.
- 24:55Speaker 1: But, yeah.
- 24:57Speaker 3: It was great.
- 24:57Speaker 1: You got a great one now, though, right?
- 24:59Speaker 2: Brett's good.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Brett's good at lane changes. Always give that signal of
- 25:02Speaker 1: a lane change.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I've got a great one now, although she did
- 25:07Speaker 3: grow up in a family that loves that gaudy orange crap.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Oh, well.
- 25:12Speaker 3: But anyway, it was great catching up with you guys.
- 25:15Speaker 3: I told Lance last night, I said, it's been two
- 25:18Speaker 3: freaking years, and that's two freaking years too long.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Well, we appreciate you coming out clean-shaven, Brett. First time
- 25:26Speaker 2: I've seen that.
- 25:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Yeah. No, no. That first time we went and had
- 25:31Speaker 3: lunch over at Superior Grill, I didn't have a mustache
- 25:34Speaker 3: or beard or nothing.
- 25:35Speaker 1: We don't have Superior Grill either. That was about 75
- 25:38Speaker 1: pounds ago.
- 25:41Speaker 3: So anyway, yeah, I told Browning when I was leaving
- 25:44Speaker 3: last night, I gave him one. I gave him two,
- 25:46Speaker 3: but I'm taking one of them off the table. And
- 25:49Speaker 3: I wasn't going to call till 11 because I didn't
- 25:51Speaker 3: know what my day was going to be like over
- 25:53Speaker 3: here in Atlanta. But I've already delivered once and picked
- 25:55Speaker 3: up one and I'm headed to Nashville.
- 25:56Speaker 1: So I was like, me too.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm going from hell one to hell two. I've
- 26:02Speaker 3: got a public service announcement real quick since we are
- 26:05Speaker 3: on the sport and state to all you listeners. And
- 26:10Speaker 3: viewers that are new to the show, welcome. These guys
- 26:14Speaker 3: are great. They'll make you laugh. They'll make you scratch
- 26:16Speaker 3: your head. And Dunaway may even make you scratch your butt.
- 26:21Speaker 3: And speaking of Dunaway, okay, Jim, you know.
- 26:25Speaker 1: I love you.
- 26:26Speaker 2: There we go.
- 26:30Speaker 3: All you new people out there, this is your public
- 26:32Speaker 3: service announcement. Do not take it personal when he landmines
- 26:38Speaker 3: your team. He wears that title and that crown proudly.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Sometime between now and January, he's going to say something
- 26:48Speaker 3: and you're going to go, Oh, that's a good pick.
- 26:50Speaker 3: And then your team loses. And you're going to go,
- 26:52Speaker 3: that asshole picked my team. You'll understand why.
- 26:56Speaker 1: And your quarterback's leg is going to be in three pieces.
- 26:59Speaker 3: Whatever. You'll understand why Jimmy D is the walking landmine.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Okay. Your two-team parlay tomorrow. NC State plus the points.
- 27:09Speaker 1: North Carolina plus the points. Hammer it.
- 27:10Speaker 3: And you may hear Forrester or Brownie say on a pick, well,
- 27:15Speaker 3: that's just a reverse landmine. And he's good at that crap, too.
- 27:19Speaker 1: All right.
- 27:20Speaker 3: So here we go. My three guarantees. Auburn and Florida
- 27:26Speaker 3: will both win at least seven games this year.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Good improvement. All right.
- 27:31Speaker 3: Okay. LT cinched my third one for me in one
- 27:34Speaker 3: of his. Ohio State will indeed go nine and three,
- 27:39Speaker 3: but they will not make the playoffs.
- 27:41Speaker 2: Oh, I think they make the playoffs at nine and three.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Nope.
- 27:44Speaker 4: Nope.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Nope.
- 27:45Speaker 2: Nope.
- 27:46Speaker 3: Ain't going to happen. And the one I told Brownie
- 27:48Speaker 3: last night, the first one I told him of the
- 27:50Speaker 3: two I told him, neither Georgia nor Texas will be
- 27:55Speaker 3: in the SEC championship game.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Wow.
- 27:57Speaker 1: So two other teams.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Now that would be surprising.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:01Speaker 1: At that point, it would have to be, in my world,
- 28:04Speaker 1: Alabama and Texas A & M. Yeah, Bama A & M,
- 28:08Speaker 1: Bama Oklahoma, Bama Ole Miss. Oklahoma A & M. Oklahoma
- 28:11Speaker 1: A & M, yeah, I mean.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Y'all have not said LSU yet.
- 28:14Speaker 1: LSU and somebody. LSU and somebody, yeah.
- 28:16Speaker 3: I love you guys.
- 28:17Speaker 1: All right, Brian, thank you, buddy. Good to see you.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Dirty side down. That's right. Oh, yeah. Shiny side up,
- 28:21Speaker 1: dirty side down. All right, see you, man. All right, Morgan,
- 28:24Speaker 1: you want Morgans? I would love Morgan. Is this Morgan
- 28:26Speaker 1: from Kentucky? This is Morgan from Kentucky in the chat,
- 28:29Speaker 1: YouTube chat. um the ACC has two college football playoff
- 28:33Speaker 1: teams Louisville and Miami for Morgan you know I hate
- 28:37Speaker 1: to uh I hate to open the door for two
- 28:40Speaker 1: uh ACC two big 12s but you know there is
- 28:44Speaker 1: that there's that feeling that you could go to ACC
- 28:47Speaker 1: teams this year because of Miami's preseason reputation.
- 28:50Speaker 2: If the ACC or big 12 was to get two
- 28:52Speaker 2: in that means there is a There's some good three loss,
- 28:56Speaker 2: either Big Ten or SEC teams that are left out.
- 28:59Speaker 1: With not comparable schedules.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and I just don't think you're doing your job. Now, again,
- 29:02Speaker 2: we've got to see how this whole thing plays out.
- 29:03Speaker 2: But if we're sitting here at the end of the
- 29:05Speaker 2: year and we obviously think this 9-3 team is better
- 29:08Speaker 2: than this 11-1 ACC team, that's a problem.
- 29:11Speaker 1: But I will say this about the ACC. SMU's really good.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Louisville's good. Miami's really good. And I still think, just
- 29:20Speaker 1: because I talked to defensive coordinator Tom Allen's daughter last night,
- 29:24Speaker 1: But I think Clemson's going to be sneaky. I'm high
- 29:26Speaker 1: on Clemson.
- 29:26Speaker 2: You're leaving out. I've said it all summer. The winner
- 29:29Speaker 2: of the game tomorrow has got an inside track for
- 29:32Speaker 2: that ACC championship.
- 29:33Speaker 1: We've had a lot. We've had a lot of people.
- 29:35Speaker 1: I don't know if Brooks Alston will do it in
- 29:37Speaker 1: our next hour on the next round.
- 29:39Speaker 4: Well.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Had a lot of people bring up this NC State quarterback. C.J. Bailey.
- 29:43Speaker 4: C.J. Bailey.
- 29:44Speaker 1: And say, you guys are sleeping on C.J. Bailey. That
- 29:47Speaker 1: has been a consistent message from the college football analyst
- 29:51Speaker 1: we've had on this whole offseason. Like, there are several...
- 29:55Speaker 1: big-name programs that he could have solved their quarterback issue
- 29:58Speaker 1: if he had left NC State and hit the portal.
- 30:00Speaker 1: You know, he was really, really good. Nobody talked about
- 30:04Speaker 1: him last year. But I think Bo Prabule on the
- 30:06Speaker 1: other side coming in from Missouri, I could see him
- 30:08Speaker 1: outplay Bailey tomorrow. Prediction number two for Morgan, Indiana, 12-0,
- 30:13Speaker 1: and they go back-to-back. 12-0 regular season and back-to-back national championships.
- 30:17Speaker 2: There is.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Look, there is. That is bold, bold.
- 30:20Speaker 2: That would be 32 consecutive wins. That would be crazy.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Not enough oxygen left in the atmosphere for Kurt Signetti
- 30:26Speaker 1: at that point. If he did that, the word would
- 30:29Speaker 1: just implode.
- 30:30Speaker 2: I mean, what would we really say at that point?
- 30:32Speaker 2: I mean, are people starting to talk about this is
- 30:34Speaker 2: the next great coach in all sports?
- 30:36Speaker 1: I mean, come on. We would badly overreact. That's what
- 30:39Speaker 1: would happen. I can promise you that. And another consistent,
- 30:42Speaker 1: LSU 8-4 does not make the college football playoffs.
- 30:45Speaker 2: You see this common theme of people pulling for Texas
- 30:48Speaker 2: Tech not making the playoffs, LSU not making the playoffs.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Well, I told our LSU friend C. Stu last night,
- 30:53Speaker 1: I said, I'm not in on your LSU program anymore.
- 30:58Speaker 1: I don't like the way Kiffin left Ole Miss this
- 30:59Speaker 1: whole offseason. We'll get too much of him in Fanville now, apparently.
- 31:03Speaker 1: It's pretty funny, though. Did y'all watch the commercial? Yeah, yeah.
- 31:06Speaker 2: I was listening to Coach Neuheisel and Chris Childers on
- 31:11Speaker 2: the way in this morning, and Childers does Mad Dog Radio, too,
- 31:14Speaker 2: and he was interviewing Kiffin yesterday, and it was one
- 31:15Speaker 2: of those things. It was for Fanville. So he said
- 31:19Speaker 2: right when they went into the interview, he got an
- 31:21Speaker 2: email from the publicist saying, avoid these questions.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Oh, right as the interview started?
- 31:26Speaker 2: Right as the interview started. Now, it sounded like he
- 31:28Speaker 2: was going to ask some of the questions. I got
- 31:30Speaker 2: out of the car because I was on the phone,
- 31:31Speaker 2: and so I didn't hear the rest of it. But
- 31:33Speaker 2: it's just funny. Why would Kiffin even do these interviews
- 31:36Speaker 2: knowing that these questions are coming?
- 31:39Speaker 1: Yeah, and don't be ashamed of any question. Answer them.
- 31:42Speaker 1: I wonder what the questions were.
- 31:44Speaker 2: No, the questions not to ask were, No NFL players
- 31:47Speaker 2: coming back from the NFL. Nothing about the number five.
- 31:52Speaker 2: It was silly stuff.
- 31:53Speaker 1: I mean, the number five is not even his controversy.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Yeah, and I don't think anybody really wants to talk
- 31:58Speaker 2: about that.
- 31:58Speaker 1: I mean, if Kiffin came on this show today, I
- 32:01Speaker 1: wouldn't even think about asking him about the number five.
- 32:03Speaker 1: That's not even his controversy. Technically, Kiffin is... doing the
- 32:07Speaker 1: right thing in the number five he's honoring a promise
- 32:09Speaker 1: that Brian Kelly made to a kid and the kid's
- 32:12Speaker 1: upset he came to LSU and he was told he.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Could wear five that's the only thing he's done right.
- 32:16Speaker 1: I know this is he's actually taking the hit right
- 32:18Speaker 1: doing the right thing it's the one controversy that really
- 32:20Speaker 1: doesn't even involve.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Him hey but why I mean you think it's a
- 32:23Speaker 2: good move for Vansville to put it put him in
- 32:25Speaker 2: there I just don't think he's got good good enough personality.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Well it's a great joke and illegal lane change I
- 32:30Speaker 1: mean very good joke and he is at least recognizable
- 32:33Speaker 1: yeah The AI work is at work. I sent Forrester
- 32:39Speaker 1: an AI version early this morning. There's a well-endowed blonde
- 32:44Speaker 1: with a deep purple cut LSU t-shirt sitting in the
- 32:47Speaker 1: passenger seat in the pullover. Why did they just not
- 32:50Speaker 1: do that? He would have owned that. Sure.
- 32:52Speaker 2: It should have been Kirby getting pulled over.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Oh, Kirby getting pulled over. I don't think Kirby would
- 32:57Speaker 1: sign off on that.
- 32:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know if you'd agree with that.
- 32:59Speaker 3: But it'd be good.
- 32:59Speaker 1: That would be funny. Sir, you know how fast you
- 33:00Speaker 1: were going?
- 33:01Speaker 2: What they need to do is after a couple of
- 33:02Speaker 2: these Death Valleys, let us workshop Fansville.
- 33:05Speaker 1: That's right. We'll have you some good ones. More of
- 33:08Speaker 1: our bold predictions continue on now. Blake, here's his three.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Lincoln Riley fired. Another fairly consistent three guarantee, Lance, that
- 33:17Speaker 1: your guy Lincoln doesn't make it out of the season.
- 33:18Speaker 2: How do you guys feel? And, Dunaway, I know you
- 33:21Speaker 2: brought up what is the passion, really, for USC football.
- 33:24Speaker 2: But if he goes 9-3 and misses the college football playoff,
- 33:26Speaker 2: and he does have Maiva as a Heisman finalist, what
- 33:30Speaker 2: do you do with Lincoln Riley? That would be one
- 33:32Speaker 2: double-digit win season. His first year, that would be five
- 33:35Speaker 2: consecutive wins. Single digit.
- 33:38Speaker 1: I think your bigger question is what happened to Gary Patterson?
- 33:41Speaker 1: I mean, if they've got a Heisman Trophy winning quarterback
- 33:43Speaker 1: and they're 9-3, Gary Patterson's forgotten how to coach defense.
- 33:47Speaker 2: You say that. I could see them lose to Ohio State, Indiana,
- 33:52Speaker 2: and Oregon 23-20.
- 33:54Speaker 1: 9-3 is not bad enough for me if I'm USC
- 33:59Speaker 1: to get rid of Lincoln Riley. But if I'm a
- 34:03Speaker 1: USC booster, though, Jim, here's the counter to that. The
- 34:06Speaker 1: man's had two Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks, can't even make
- 34:09Speaker 1: the playoffs. I mean, what's the guy going to have
- 34:11Speaker 1: to do to make the playoffs? If he can't do
- 34:13Speaker 1: it with Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks, how's he going to
- 34:15Speaker 1: make it?
- 34:15Speaker 2: And then he had three at Oklahoma or two? Baker, Kyler,
- 34:18Speaker 2: was it just two?
- 34:19Speaker 1: Yeah, but at least he was making the playoffs there
- 34:21Speaker 1: in a 14 playoff. They were losing every time, but
- 34:24Speaker 1: they were making it. Alex Golish, Coach of the Year
- 34:27Speaker 1: from Blake. That would be probably— SEC Coach of the
- 34:30Speaker 1: Year is what I'm going to put. He just said
- 34:31Speaker 1: Coach of the Year. Coach of the Year is SEC.
- 34:33Speaker 2: I think they're in the playoffs if that happens. I
- 34:35Speaker 2: think you've got to win 10 games.
- 34:36Speaker 1: He might could do it at nine. It would just
- 34:38Speaker 1: be in. And I will go ahead and tell you,
- 34:41Speaker 1: in my opinion, the Coach of the Year will either
- 34:43Speaker 1: be Golding Summerall or— Golish. Or Golish. A new coach somewhere? Yeah.
- 34:53Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 34:53Speaker 2: I mean, if Venables played for the SEC Championship— Maybe.
- 34:58Speaker 2: If Sark went undefeated? If Lane Kiffin went 11-1?
- 35:05Speaker 1: Who votes on it? I mean, that's a big deal
- 35:07Speaker 1: for Kiffin. Who votes on it? BYU makes the playoffs.
- 35:11Speaker 1: That was his third one. BYU makes the playoffs.
- 35:14Speaker 2: One more.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Gates to Adventure. Gates to Adventure on YouTube. Notre Dame
- 35:20Speaker 1: catches two losses and misses the college football playoffs. If
- 35:23Speaker 1: I remember, Brett said he dropped one of his that
- 35:26Speaker 1: he told me last night. I think that was one
- 35:28Speaker 1: of his. Now, by rule, if Notre Dame is in
- 35:31Speaker 1: the college football playoff rankings at number 12 or higher,
- 35:35Speaker 1: they're automatically in the playoffs.
- 35:36Speaker 2: So you tell me, and I'm just going to go
- 35:38Speaker 2: with the obvious losses. At BYU, middle of October, at
- 35:41Speaker 2: that point, they're going into that game at 6-0. They're
- 35:44Speaker 2: already number four. They could be number one at that point.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Let's say they lose there, and then they lose two
- 35:50Speaker 2: weeks later against Miami.
- 35:52Speaker 1: BYU's in Provo too, isn't it? Yes. So road game
- 35:55Speaker 1: at BYU, who is my pick to win the Big 12,
- 36:00Speaker 1: and a loss to Miami, and you win the rest
- 36:02Speaker 1: of them, I don't think that gets you lower than 12, 10-2.
- 36:05Speaker 1: That's two quality losses.
- 36:06Speaker 2: But your problem there is SMU, if they hold on
- 36:09Speaker 2: and they're a top 25 team, would be your only
- 36:11Speaker 2: top 25 win. Yeah.
- 36:15Speaker 1: That's your problem. You don't have the wins. vandy makes
- 36:18Speaker 1: the college football playoffs so he's got notre dame out
- 36:21Speaker 1: or they have notre dame out and vandy in gates
- 36:23Speaker 1: to adventure i'll help you out here not a chance
- 36:26Speaker 1: uh uh these are bold.
- 36:27Speaker 2: Yeah blaze is gonna lead them to the playoffs blaze.
- 36:31Speaker 1: And uh the third one if you thought those are
- 36:33Speaker 1: crazy state gets eight wins mississippi state yep hell dear
- 36:36Speaker 1: old state eight wins eight wins that's some.
- 36:39Speaker 2: Bold predictions well look the the ripple effect from that
- 36:43Speaker 2: So if Mississippi State's winning eight games, there's teams that
- 36:45Speaker 2: are losing games they shouldn't be losing in the SEC.
- 36:47Speaker 1: If Andy's in the playoffs, there's more teams losing games
- 36:50Speaker 1: they shouldn't be losing. One more segment here on Sporting State.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Two hours after that on our Next Round platform on
- 36:57Speaker 1: our new link, though. So do me a favor. Set

- 37:04Speaker 1: can get two hours with us when we go live
- 37:08Speaker 1: after Sporting State. And don't forget Clay and Buck coming
- 37:11Speaker 1: up after us here on the next round presented by
- 37:13Speaker 1: Hard Rock Bets on Sport and State. Back with you
- 37:16Speaker 1: on the next round presented by Hard Rock Bets. This
- 37:19Speaker 1: is Sport and State, final segment of the show today. Interesting,
- 37:24Speaker 1: interesting that Trinidad Chambliss' Heisman campaign kicked off yesterday. There
- 37:31Speaker 1: in the Big Apple, Times Square, you can see Trinidad
- 37:35Speaker 1: Chambliss and all the monitors there at Times Square yesterday
- 37:38Speaker 1: as they kicked things off. In New York for Trinidad,
- 37:41Speaker 1: both day and night, pictures all day long. Little Ole
- 37:44Speaker 1: Miss in New York City as he starts his push
- 37:47Speaker 1: in a Heisman campaign this year. Our friends at XXXY
- 37:51Speaker 1: brings you this part of the show. That is the
- 37:54Speaker 1: company that had a tee that launched a movement. It
- 37:57Speaker 1: is founded by Jennifer Say, former national champion gymnast, former
- 38:00Speaker 1: Levi's brand president. And she walked away from that corporate job,
- 38:04Speaker 1: rather than say something she didn't believe, and started a
- 38:06Speaker 1: new brand, XXXY Athletics. It is a mission, in their words,
- 38:12Speaker 1: to empower female athletes and take a stand for fair competition.
- 38:15Speaker 1: They call it the tee that launched a national movement.
- 38:18Speaker 1: And for that reason, they are the official Nashville Balls
- 38:21Speaker 1: gear provider. Clay Travis, future WNBA franchise. XXXY has all
- 38:25Speaker 1: that apparel. The Nashville Balls merch, tees, trucker hats. It's
- 38:28Speaker 1: out now right there. If you want the shirt, that's
- 38:30Speaker 1: where you get it. This is real athletic apparel, not
- 38:33Speaker 1: just a slogan on a shirt. Performance tops, tanks, sports bras, leggings, shorts,
- 38:38Speaker 1: training sets. Hoodies, hats, graphic tees, men's and women's. It's
- 38:43Speaker 1: worn by athletes who've actually put something on the line.

- 39:00Speaker 1: predictions rolling in. We'll continue this over on the next
- 39:03Speaker 1: round channels as well. For the rest of the day,
- 39:07Speaker 1: as we always do, and I do this every year,
- 39:09Speaker 1: we have enough of these to do two shows. We
- 39:11Speaker 1: should have started yesterday. Ashley writes in, Arizona wins the
- 39:16Speaker 1: Big 12 and makes the playoffs. You're sneaky high on them.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Well, Fafita, I mean, back for a fifth year, and
- 39:21Speaker 2: he has got more experience than maybe any quarterback in
- 39:24Speaker 2: college football coming into the season. I think Arizona's going
- 39:28Speaker 2: to be good. I don't know if they're going to
- 39:29Speaker 2: be good in to win the Big 12. That is
- 39:31Speaker 2: a bold prediction.
- 39:32Speaker 1: Alabama wins the SEC championship and plays in the national
- 39:36Speaker 1: championship game.
- 39:38Speaker 2: As an Alabama fan, I take it. But that would
- 39:40Speaker 2: be great for Kalen DeBoer.
- 39:42Speaker 1: Yeah, no doubt. Indiana loses three or more regular season
- 39:45Speaker 1: games and misses the playoffs.
- 39:47Speaker 2: Another Indiana hater.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Yeah. So that's Ashley there, who on his Instagram socials,
- 39:53Speaker 1: they were very good mixologists, I think is what they're called,
- 39:57Speaker 1: mixed drinks. He posts a drink every night. Okay. Good-looking drinks.
- 40:01Speaker 1: A different drink every night? Yeah. I mean, some of
- 40:03Speaker 1: his cocktails look fantastic.
- 40:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:06Speaker 1: He gets after it. Pretty good cook, too, according to
- 40:08Speaker 1: his social there. Okay. You want some more over here? Yeah.
- 40:13Speaker 1: These are all from the YouTube chat. 17 years of this.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Can I give a shout out real quick? A guy
- 40:18Speaker 1: named Jason Green. Two nights ago, I went into walk-ons.
- 40:23Speaker 1: I was finished playing golf. There was a massive rainstorm.
- 40:26Speaker 1: Traffic was awful, so I just dove into walk-ons. I
- 40:29Speaker 1: knew it was going to be back-to-back nights, but I'm
- 40:30Speaker 1: fine with that. And went in and sat down. He
- 40:32Speaker 1: walked up and talked to me. Used to live here
- 40:34Speaker 1: in Birmingham. He now is traveling a lot through the southeast.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Listens to our show every single day. Literally said the words.
- 40:42Speaker 1: I don't want to get emotional saying this, but I
- 40:43Speaker 1: hope you understand how much your show means to people
- 40:45Speaker 1: like me. and he just stopped what he was saying.
- 40:48Speaker 1: I don't even know really where he was going with that,
- 40:50Speaker 1: but that means the world to us. So I just
- 40:51Speaker 1: want to give him a shout out. Yeah, that's awesome.
- 40:53Speaker 1: I mean, if you're traveling, sometimes it's a lonely job. Yeah,
- 40:56Speaker 1: and I know I lose sight of that a lot,
- 40:59Speaker 1: so I appreciate when you guys remind us how much
- 41:01Speaker 1: the show means to you. It's crazy that it does.
- 41:04Speaker 1: It will never stop blowing my mind, but that was cool.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Jason Green, he couldn't be at our kickoff party, but
- 41:08Speaker 1: he was at Walcones two nights ago, so shout out
- 41:10Speaker 1: to him.
- 41:10Speaker 2: I thought it was funny last night. Our buddy Brad
- 41:12Speaker 2: started talking to Clay and told Clay that you blocked
- 41:16Speaker 2: me nine years ago on Twitter, and he was like, well,
- 41:17Speaker 2: give me your handle. I'll unblock you. He was like, no,
- 41:19Speaker 2: I deserved it. I deserved it.
- 41:22Speaker 1: Damien writes in, Bama goes 8-4 or worse this year?
- 41:24Speaker 3: Oof.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Auburn wins nine or ten games, and a group of
- 41:33Speaker 1: six teams makes the college football playoff championship game. Okay, Damien.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Come on, Damien. So a group of six teams.
- 41:40Speaker 2: Damien's hit it early. Can you imagine, though, if Kalen
- 41:43Speaker 2: Abor went eight and four and Golish in year one
- 41:45Speaker 2: won more games and beat them in the Iron Bowl?
- 41:48Speaker 1: Might get him fired. That's a lot of money to pay. Damien,
- 41:51Speaker 1: the most unrealistic position here is the group of six
- 41:54Speaker 1: teams makes the college football playoff championship game. Because that's
- 41:58Speaker 1: going to be one, two, three wins to get there.
- 42:00Speaker 1: All away from home.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Impossible.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Jordan, Bama 8-4.
- 42:04Speaker 2: Did he turn off his PlayStation when he got done?
- 42:09Speaker 1: Who's that, Jordan? Jordan said this, yes. Bama 8-4. Lane
- 42:15Speaker 1: Kiffin makes the college football playoff with four NFL players.
- 42:20Speaker 1: That's interesting. And here's one for you. His third bowl prediction,
- 42:26Speaker 1: Sark fired before November. He's got Sark getting fired in October.
- 42:31Speaker 1: That would be disastrous.
- 42:33Speaker 2: I don't know how that could happen.
- 42:34Speaker 1: That would take him off the field, backsliding by Sark
- 42:38Speaker 1: for that to happen. Chad, his three. Georgia and Texas
- 42:42Speaker 1: will not win the SEC, so he's taking 14 other
- 42:46Speaker 1: teams other than Georgia and Texas. He says Notre Dame
- 42:50Speaker 1: does make the college football playoff, but they are embarrassed...
- 42:54Speaker 1: In round one. That would be interesting. Like if they are,
- 42:59Speaker 1: you know, maybe where they've got to go on the
- 43:01Speaker 1: road and went to a Big Ten or an SEC stadium. Well,
- 43:04Speaker 1: I mean, I guess you're saying that the schedule just
- 43:06Speaker 1: didn't have them ready for the competition. Yeah, that's right.
- 43:09Speaker 1: And then number three, Auburn wins one of five games
- 43:12Speaker 1: they're quote unquote not supposed to win. So I guess
- 43:15Speaker 1: the games they're not supposed to win, of course, would
- 43:16Speaker 1: be Alabama, Georgia, LSU. I mean, Florida is a toss up.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Do they play Ole Miss? They play at Tennessee. Tennessee,
- 43:25Speaker 1: I guess, would be one. Yeah, so those are the
- 43:27Speaker 1: games they're not supposed to win. All right. Jeremy Daly. Oh,
- 43:31Speaker 1: all right, Jeremy. Every day, man. Jeremy Daly. Bama in
- 43:34Speaker 1: the national championship game where they only lose to Ohio State.
- 43:39Speaker 1: Be a huge step forward for Kalen DeBoer, though. Just kidding.
- 43:41Speaker 2: That would be massive.
- 43:43Speaker 1: But, of course, those in the media would say he's
- 43:44Speaker 1: 0-2 in championship games. How did they get there, you
- 43:47Speaker 1: might ask? His second bowl prediction, Keelan Russell is a
- 43:50Speaker 1: Heisman finalist. And then he, too, has Texas 8-4 and
- 43:55Speaker 1: not making the playoffs. I tell you, the one thing
- 43:59Speaker 1: the guarantees does is it shows you kind of where
- 44:01Speaker 1: public opinion is on some coaches. Public opinion on Sark
- 44:04Speaker 1: is he cannot get this deal done.
- 44:06Speaker 2: Well, I think it's some of that, but I think
- 44:09Speaker 2: it's also the fact that people don't want Texas.
- 44:11Speaker 1: To do it. Living Tuscaloosa County says Texas does not
- 44:16Speaker 1: make the college football playoff. That's another Sark doubter. Lane
- 44:20Speaker 1: Kiffin leaves for the NFL.
- 44:24Speaker 2: I don't know if I could see that. I mean,
- 44:27Speaker 2: it was a long time ago, but his stint in
- 44:29Speaker 2: the NFL with the Raiders was awful.
- 44:32Speaker 1: I wonder if his coaching style, aside from the Raiders,
- 44:38Speaker 1: because he's matured as a coach since then and matured
- 44:41Speaker 1: as a human since then. I mean, it's still some
- 44:43Speaker 1: of the stuff Lane does that's crazy. He's more mature
- 44:46Speaker 1: probably than he was. I wonder if his coaching style
- 44:49Speaker 1: appeals to the NFL. Like, I wonder if they look
- 44:52Speaker 1: at that and like, that's the guy, that's the style
- 44:54Speaker 1: we want here.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe.
- 44:55Speaker 1: I mean, one thing, you know, he used to do
- 44:58Speaker 1: at Alabama, and I doubt he's changed it now, is,
- 45:01Speaker 1: you know, one of the criticisms he got as Alabama's
- 45:04Speaker 1: offensive coordinator in regards to preparing a quarterback for the
- 45:07Speaker 1: NFL is that Lane would frequently whistle. You could hear
- 45:10Speaker 1: it on the TV. He would whistle. The quarterback looks
- 45:13Speaker 1: at him. He would tell him the receiver to throw
- 45:14Speaker 1: it to. That's right. Here's your open guy. And while
- 45:17Speaker 1: that is great for winning college football games, it might
- 45:19Speaker 1: not be best for a quarterback's NFL development. Now, Lane
- 45:22Speaker 1: was getting paid to win college football games, so he
- 45:24Speaker 1: should have been doing that.
- 45:25Speaker 2: I do think he would love the challenge of being
- 45:27Speaker 2: able to, you know, go in and dissect an NFL defense.
- 45:31Speaker 2: But at the same time, he would be maddened by
- 45:33Speaker 2: the fact if he had a bad quarterback.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Yeah, and which generally when you get an NFL job,
- 45:38Speaker 1: you've either got a bad quarterback or you've just drafted
- 45:40Speaker 1: a quarterback, which could be a bad quarterback. Number three
- 45:43Speaker 1: from living Tuscaloosa County, Notre Dame misses the college football playoffs.
- 45:47Speaker 1: That one seems unlikely, doesn't it?
- 45:49Speaker 2: It does. I think it would take three losses.
- 45:51Speaker 1: All right. Another one, Brownies. Bold prediction. Friday, final few
- 45:54Speaker 1: minutes of the next round presented by Hard Rock Bets
- 45:57Speaker 1: here on Sporting State. Volfan. Heisman is not a quarterback.
- 46:01Speaker 1: The Heisman winner is not a quarterback from Volfan 205.
- 46:05Speaker 2: That's become bold. We saw Devontae Smith do it. We've
- 46:08Speaker 2: seen running backs do it.
- 46:09Speaker 1: You know, you would say you could see maybe Malachi
- 46:12Speaker 1: Toney do it, but then how does Mensah not win it?
- 46:13Speaker 1: Or you could see... Jeremiah Smith do it, but then
- 46:16Speaker 1: how does say it not work? Well, here's how Malachi
- 46:18Speaker 1: Toney wins it, okay? Malachi Toney wins it because he
- 46:22Speaker 1: can run a touchdown in in a running play. He
- 46:25Speaker 1: can catch a touchdown. can throw a touchdown and then
- 46:29Speaker 1: return a touchdown. So all of a sudden, if he's
- 46:32Speaker 1: scoring in four different phases of the game, that's going
- 46:34Speaker 1: to lift him above just normal wide receivers.
- 46:37Speaker 2: And going into the season, I might say he's the
- 46:39Speaker 2: second best player in college football.
- 46:40Speaker 1: Really, the only way Devontae Smith won it was Jalen
- 46:43Speaker 1: Waddell got hurt, and that's unfortunate for Waddell. But with
- 46:46Speaker 1: Waddell in there, Mac Jones would have won the Heisman
- 46:48Speaker 1: that year because he would have spread the ball out
- 46:50Speaker 1: a little bit more. But once Smith was the number one,
- 46:53Speaker 1: clear number one, he got all the catches. Off of that,
- 46:56Speaker 1: Patrick says the same thing. He says, look at Jimmy D.
- 46:58Speaker 1: A non-quarterback wins the Heisman this year, so there's another
- 47:01Speaker 1: guy with that. Auburn wins eight games, and the SEC
- 47:04Speaker 1: has two teams in the semifinals of the college football playoff.
- 47:08Speaker 1: And again, I'll say this. Sad that that's become a
- 47:11Speaker 1: bold prediction. The SEC has two of the four teams
- 47:13Speaker 1: in the semifinals.
- 47:14Speaker 2: If they've got two, one of those teams needs to
- 47:16Speaker 2: win the game.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:17Speaker 2: But nobody will remember they have two in the semifinals
- 47:20Speaker 2: if they're not playing for the national championship.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Hopefully they're playing each other, so you're guaranteed a spot
- 47:23Speaker 1: in the championship. The last two, because these are fairly
- 47:26Speaker 1: bold from Fall Fan. He's got Heisman being a non-quarterback.
- 47:31Speaker 1: Minnesota with double-digit regular season wins. Now, that is random numbers.
- 47:36Speaker 1: For Minnesota, but P.J. Fleck with double-digit regular season wins.
- 47:40Speaker 1: That puts them in the playoffs.
- 47:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I think 10-2 would put them in the playoffs.
- 47:44Speaker 2: I think they're going to be good this year. I
- 47:46Speaker 2: think it's a really interesting Week 2 game when Mississippi
- 47:48Speaker 2: State goes up to Minneapolis.
- 47:50Speaker 1: I agree. Fascinating game.
- 47:51Speaker 2: A game they have to win if they're going to
- 47:53Speaker 2: even sniff that.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Yeah, if State wins that one, that's a feather in
- 47:56Speaker 1: the SEC cap because that's lower-tier SEC, mid-tier Big Ten.
- 48:00Speaker 1: And then Volfan, 205, his last one. Texas A &
- 48:03Speaker 1: M goes 7-5. It would be a big disappointment. Well,
- 48:06Speaker 1: I mean, somebody has to go 7-5. You know what
- 48:09Speaker 1: I'm saying? Yeah, by rule, somebody's going to be there, right?
- 48:11Speaker 1: Or by math. But that would be very, very surprising.
- 48:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:15Speaker 1: I would make this point. I think his name was
- 48:18Speaker 1: Meredith last night, but maybe so many names. But he's
- 48:21Speaker 1: a guy that plays golf out at Ballantrae. He was
- 48:24Speaker 1: by our kickoff party last night. He said, you guys
- 48:27Speaker 1: always are, it seems like, are making excuses at times
- 48:30Speaker 1: for Arch Manning and then criticizing Marcel Reed. for not
- 48:36Speaker 1: winning big games at the end of the year. He goes,
- 48:38Speaker 1: look at the stats, how close Marcel and Arch are stat-wise.
- 48:43Speaker 1: And I think probably if you looked at stats, Marcel
- 48:45Speaker 1: is probably better than Arch stat-wise. Maybe we give too
- 48:49Speaker 1: much grace because of the Manning last name and criticize
- 48:52Speaker 1: Marcel a little bit. I don't know.
- 48:53Speaker 2: I was highly critical of Arch, but the way he
- 48:55Speaker 2: kind of turned the corner last year, and it went
- 48:57Speaker 2: the opposite. Arch played his best football late, by the way,
- 49:00Speaker 2: in a win against Texas A & M. and Marcel
- 49:03Speaker 2: Reed against his two top 10 teams. No touchdowns, four picks.
- 49:07Speaker 1: The reason we get on Reed is the lasting impression.
- 49:09Speaker 1: He was bad at the end of the season and
- 49:13Speaker 1: primarily in the college football playoff. Dixie Normus. Always love
- 49:17Speaker 1: hearing from Dixie. Um, Three-loss Texas team makes a run
- 49:23Speaker 1: in the college football playoff. So somehow a three-loss Texas
- 49:26Speaker 1: team gets in. An enormous run. An enormous run, yes.
- 49:29Speaker 1: Very enormous, yes. Number two, Ole Miss and A &
- 49:33Speaker 1: M both lose four-plus games. So back-to-back A & M
- 49:36Speaker 1: bad predictions. And Ole Miss in there with them. And
- 49:40Speaker 1: his third prediction, the Big Ten streak ends. Again, Jim,
- 49:42Speaker 1: as you've said many times, sad that we have to
- 49:44Speaker 1: make that a bold prediction, but that's where we are
- 49:46Speaker 1: in life. You got another one? Yeah, Keith. Texas, three
- 49:50Speaker 1: or more losses. I mean, the Sark doubt today is
- 49:53Speaker 1: incredible in this thing. It really is. Clemson wins the ACC,
- 49:57Speaker 1: Keith says.
- 49:58Speaker 2: That's amazing that's a bold prediction now, but it kind
- 50:01Speaker 2: of is.
- 50:02Speaker 1: It is. In his third bowl prediction, the national championship
- 50:05Speaker 1: game will not, will not feature Ohio State, Georgia, Texas,
- 50:10Speaker 1: or Oregon. Those four teams not in the championship. I mean,
- 50:14Speaker 1: what is.
- 50:14Speaker 2: Interesting about that is your top four seeds right now,
- 50:17Speaker 2: probably if you seeded this thing out.
- 50:18Speaker 1: You're right. Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, and who? And Oregon.
- 50:21Speaker 1: Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, and? Georgia.
- 50:24Speaker 2: You're top two from the SEC, top two from the
- 50:26Speaker 2: Big Ten.
- 50:26Speaker 1: Wow.
- 50:27Speaker 2: Wow.
- 50:28Speaker 1: With the TV rankings going. Crater at that point. Maybe
- 50:32Speaker 1: that group five team is in after all.
- 50:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:34Speaker 1: All right. You got one more?
- 50:36Speaker 4: Sure.
- 50:36Speaker 1: Okay. Give me another one. Keelan Turner. Keelan Turner. Here
- 50:38Speaker 1: we go. Maybe Keelan. I don't know. Let's call it Keelan. Keelan.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Arch is a bust and Sark's seat is now hot.
- 50:47Speaker 1: More Sark doubt. Penn State makes the college football playoffs.
- 50:52Speaker 1: And this was interesting. LSU would make the college football playoffs,
- 50:57Speaker 1: but they are ruled ineligible. Yeah. Well, I mean, that's
- 51:01Speaker 1: the courtroom standoff right now. You play a player, I
- 51:04Speaker 1: can come back and penalize not the player because that
- 51:06Speaker 1: would be a court violation, but we'll penalize the school,
- 51:09Speaker 1: the coaches, and even the college football playoff may get
- 51:12Speaker 1: involved in that. All right, that is the next round
- 51:14Speaker 1: presented by Hard Rock Bets on Sport and State. We
- 51:17Speaker 1: continue bold predictions. Keep those rolling in. on our Next
- 51:22Speaker 1: Round platform. Some of you are watching here already, so
