- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hey everyone, Andrew Curlin from the Performance Racing Network here without David Styles, but uh just me this week talking a little bit of racers odds, a little bit of a Kansas preview, race number four out of ten in the chase, and my gosh, a lot has already happened in the first three races.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Kyle Larson is our brand new points leader.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: The first time that a different driver, Chevrolet, that is, has been atop the standings all season long.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: Denny Hamlin, though, he's not far behind.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: He's only one point behind.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: Joey Logano made massive gains.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: He's plus four, minus sixteen.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: Christopher Bell is in fourth, minus seventeen.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: And we have an official race for the chase that is on.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Kansas is the first of three in a row intermediate racetracks.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: And if you ask my uh co-worker and colleague Brad Gilly, he says that this is where the championship will be decided.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: So who's good at the mile and a half and who needs improvement?
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: Well, first and foremost, a team that I see is quite good at Kansas specifically is 23-11.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: You've won races there with Bubba Wallace, they've won races there with Tyler Reddick, Kurt Bush won a race with them.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: So it's three different drivers that have found victory lane at Kansas.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Not to mention, Tyler Reddick won the race at Kansas earlier this season.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: He is a defending winner of that race.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: And for Reddick, that was a big point stay.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Scored over 70 points earlier this year.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: And when we take a look at the current point standings right now, Reddick is minus 61.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: I don't think that takes you out of this chase.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: By no means.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: I mean, he scored over 70 points in one race alone.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Now, that's also considering that the rest of the field is also going to have to make some moves, and he'll be racing many other drivers in front of him, six to be a matter of fact.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: But Kansas, I think, is a great opportunity to get Redick back in the hunt.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: When I talked to Joey Logano after his win at Bristol, that was the exact word he used.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Joey was four spots worse in the standings going into Bristol than he was leaving it.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: He left it in third and is officially in the hunt.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: I think if Rennick can win a race this weekend, he's back in the title hunt.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: And honestly, if I'm Tyler Reddick in 2311, what better race to have coming up this weekend than Kansas?
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: He also told me that uh Las Vegas and Kansas both fit into strengths.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: They learn things from each track and are adding it to their notebook for this chase.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: We'll have more information on that as we head into Vegas weekend and preview that race for the Performance Racing Network.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: But another driver that I think is excited to be going into Kansas, A, because of the momentum he has leaving Bristol, but B, because it's a good racetrack is Kyle Larson.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: He's had an unbelievable chase thus far.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: If you strip away all the bonus points and the seating that we've had in the chase, Kyle Larson has scored the most amount of points out of all 16 drivers.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: The five team has figured something out in these last three races and they are capitalizing on it.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: And going to Kansas, Larson's going for his fourth straight top 10.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: We talked about that big winless streak that he had.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: It dated back to Kansas in May of 2025.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: He has speed here and he knows how to get it done.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: If I'm Kyle Larson, I'm looking to leave this race with a bigger points lead than I found it going into it.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: The guy chasing him, too, you gotta watch that.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: Denny Hamlin is minus one point, and he has been unbelievable on the mile and a half racetracks this year.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: He's actually finished in the top ten in all of the mile and a half races that we've been to this season, and uh he's got four wins at Kansas.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: So it's safe to say Denny's really good.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: He's also the defending winner of Vegas.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: We go to Charlotte where he's always been strong.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: The Joe Gibbs cars were lights out in the Coca-Cola 600.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Obviously, they didn't get the win, but the stretch of races is going to be big if you're in a Toyota.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: I think Christopher Bell could also be a guy to take a look at as someone who will emerge out of this stretch of intermediate races in a better spot than he was going into it in terms of points.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: So this is a quick one, I know for sure, uh, when we're talking about racers odds, but wanted to share a few of my thoughts.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Uh, if I had to pick a race winner, I do like Kyle Larson.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: I mean, he's got all the momentum on his side.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: Uh, I think this chase does certain things to certain teams.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: And it's not like Cliff Daniels and Kyle Larson have forgotten how to create fast race cars and to execute well-done races.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: So that's my calling the shot right there.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Uh, if I had to pick one driver, it's gonna be fun to watch Kansas this weekend, and I think it'll set storylines up for our halfway point at Las Vegas, where we're back on the air with the Performance Racing Network.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: Looking forward to it.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Obviously, uh missing David, he's on vacation, so happy that he's enjoying it.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: And hope you guys all enjoy the Kansas coverage on the Motor Racing Network.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: We're watching it on USA Sports.
