- 0:16Speaker 3: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:20Speaker 4: Ball noer for sure, definitely one of the O G
- 0:22Speaker 4: ball knowers as well in the media. But yeah, he
- 0:25Speaker 4: called it BS that Roberts Plaine claimed that the Chargers
- 0:29Speaker 4: players were confused by what the Patriots were doing defense.
- 0:32Speaker 3: So you know again called him a liar. What is
- 0:36Speaker 3: he calling bs.
- 0:37Speaker 4: That he thought that didn't do anything creative.
- 0:41Speaker 5: Or didn't tell that was my Splaine that, Yeah, I
- 0:45Speaker 5: agreed for as you said that he called Splaine a liar,
- 0:48Speaker 5: right right, Yeah, I think I think, Hey, I'm with friends.
- 0:51Speaker 4: Yeah, that's okay, you can.
- 0:52Speaker 6: Be with fingers.
- 0:53Speaker 4: Can you call him a liar somebody? I don't don't
- 0:55Speaker 4: need to argue about this, Samantha, I really don't know.
- 0:58Speaker 3: That's his opinion while he's wrong, okay, but that doesn't
- 1:02Speaker 3: make him a lie.
- 1:03Speaker 4: Well it does because the film is the film. There's
- 1:05Speaker 4: no way to interpret film differently, not not not really
- 1:09Speaker 4: Like if you know you're watch you're using.
- 1:11Speaker 3: The word liar in the wrong way. That's that's well.
- 1:14Speaker 4: I would say, Greg Cosela is now lying. I happened
- 1:17Speaker 4: to see the splaying quote before I watched the tape.
- 1:20Speaker 4: I thought that's bs. I think that's a lot of garbage.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Not the quote, but the fact that they were confused,
- 1:25Speaker 3: So anybody know.
- 1:26Speaker 6: I didn't want to like belabor it because I thought
- 1:27Speaker 6: it already had gone on too long. But when Evan
- 1:29Speaker 6: actually read the tweet, the word liar was never doo h.

- 1:43Speaker 7: It is Tuesday here at Jillette Stadium. The Patriots are
- 1:47Speaker 7: on the way to the AFC Championship. Haven't beaten a
- 1:51Speaker 7: really good team in the Uh what's the name of them?
- 1:54Speaker 3: If good? You forgot that he was about to call
- 1:57Speaker 3: them the Texas Rangers. But yeah, so, I mean here
- 2:02Speaker 3: we are going to the AFC Championship. Unbelievable. That was
- 2:06Speaker 3: a wild game. We knew the Texans had a good defense,
- 2:11Speaker 3: but the Patriots are overmatched on the front line. They
- 2:15Speaker 3: were overmatched for much of that game, and it led
- 2:18Speaker 3: to a white knucklock for most of the game.
- 2:22Speaker 4: But here we are.
- 2:23Speaker 3: It's Evan, it's Barks, it's Deuce, it's Me, it's Alex
- 2:26Speaker 3: the mats in the booth, And yeah, I mean, what
- 2:32Speaker 3: else is there to say about this game that we
- 2:34Speaker 3: just watched a lot?
- 2:35Speaker 1: I guess, unbelievable. Just you know, the Patriots defense, to me,
- 2:39Speaker 1: I got to give them flowers first, because they've just
- 2:42Speaker 1: been outstanding. I mean, and going back and grinding some
- 2:45Speaker 1: of the tape yesterday, I just I was so impressed
- 2:46Speaker 1: by both defenses. And you know, to really see the
- 2:49Speaker 1: Texans how they were builled all week as such a
- 2:52Speaker 1: good defense, and then to really see it on tape
- 2:55Speaker 1: with those guys, how they click, they get downhill, they
- 2:59Speaker 1: wrap up, they tackle with aggression. I mean, to Toal,
- 3:02Speaker 1: he sees it, he goes They're all good. I mean,
- 3:04Speaker 1: there's just no real weak links.
- 3:05Speaker 3: It's playoffs and it's defense. I mean, that's what you
- 3:08Speaker 3: need in the playoffs.
- 3:09Speaker 1: You know, playoffs. Defense wins hopefully championships.
- 3:12Speaker 3: But so luckily the Patriots have one.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Yeah, at some point, maybe the Patriots defense will get
- 3:18Speaker 4: talked about like some of these other great defenses do.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Here we go.
- 3:21Speaker 4: My guess is that that probably won't happen again because
- 3:24Speaker 4: you know, Jared's didham and that of it all. So
- 3:27Speaker 4: maybe in the Super Bowl, if they win the Super Bowl,
- 3:29Speaker 4: then we can talk about the Patriots having a good defense.
- 3:32Speaker 4: But they they've just been outstanding. I mean, they're giving
- 3:36Speaker 4: up one touchdown drive in twenty four possessions. In the playoffs,
- 3:40Speaker 4: change is a twenty seven yard touchdown drive off a
- 3:43Speaker 4: turnover by the Patriots offense, which I'm sure we'll get to,
- 3:47Speaker 4: and I just think what's so remarkable about what they've
- 3:50Speaker 4: done is they've completely flipped their formula on its head.
- 3:53Speaker 4: So during the regular season, they're playing all this soft
- 3:56Speaker 4: zone on first and second down. They're giving up a
- 3:58Speaker 4: lot of yards on first down especially, and then on
- 4:01Speaker 4: third down they were pretty good and they're getting into
- 4:03Speaker 4: some of their man coverages and being more aggressive and
- 4:06Speaker 4: that sort of thing. But it was a lot of
- 4:08Speaker 4: ben don't break, you know, don't give up the big plays,
- 4:12Speaker 4: don't get beat that way. And now in the playoffs,
- 4:15Speaker 4: first down has become an aggressive down for them. They're
- 4:18Speaker 4: playing a lot more man, they're blitzing a lot more,
- 4:20Speaker 4: and they're trying to win first down, and then on
- 4:23Speaker 4: second and third down, they're kind of winning more with
- 4:25Speaker 4: structure than with schemes, so it's totally flipped on its
- 4:28Speaker 4: head what they did in the regular season. So that
- 4:32Speaker 4: mix has really worked for this personnel because they're getting
- 4:37Speaker 4: teams into second and third and long by winning first
- 4:41Speaker 4: down consistently. So it's been really cool to see how
- 4:45Speaker 4: Zach Kor has kind of rose to this occasion and
- 4:49Speaker 4: really I think left no doubt about his standing of
- 4:53Speaker 4: the defensive coordinator of Terrell Williams doesn't return next year.
- 4:57Speaker 4: He's been terrific. The players have been terrific as well.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Yeah, uh good, good point. Do you think that this
- 5:04Speaker 3: flipping the script is something where they went into the
- 5:08Speaker 3: place saying, listen, this is what we did the regular season.
- 5:10Speaker 3: People are no, we did this. We have to do
- 5:12Speaker 3: something different so that we're not predictable. Or is it
- 5:16Speaker 3: just something that you know you would think, well, being
- 5:20Speaker 3: aggressive is something you should always do if you can
- 5:23Speaker 3: do it, if you can get away with it, So
- 5:26Speaker 3: why didn't they do it in the regular season as much?
- 5:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I think there's an element of that,
- 5:31Speaker 1: and I mean I think we saw flashes of them,
- 5:33Speaker 1: you know, sending I remember and forget what game it was,
- 5:35Speaker 1: like Carlton Davis coming on a blitz on you know,
- 5:37Speaker 1: first down and got burned everything.
- 5:39Speaker 3: You know, there's time to time. But but in terms
- 5:41Speaker 3: of percentages, Evan's right, you know, it's it's it's you know,
- 5:46Speaker 3: a wholesale change.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I think the biggest difference is, you know,
- 5:51Speaker 4: when you're going up against the cam Wards and the
- 5:53Speaker 4: Dylan Gabriels and the Spencer Rattler, right, you know, like
- 5:58Speaker 4: sending all this pressure and doing all these things on
- 6:01Speaker 4: first down, those teams are not going to be able
- 6:04Speaker 4: to sustain drives. They're not going to be able to
- 6:07Speaker 4: consistently drive the field on you time and time again
- 6:11Speaker 4: to playoffs. You know, these are better teams. They're better quarterbacks.
- 6:14Speaker 4: Although the two guys they've played haven't played like it,
- 6:17Speaker 4: they are better quarterbacks than what you've faced. And so
- 6:20Speaker 4: now I think the real sort of unearthing of this
- 6:25Speaker 4: plan of what they had in mind with this defense
- 6:27Speaker 4: is starting to come out a little bit more Like
- 6:29Speaker 4: we can get into all the first down.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Philosophy, but wouldn't a lesser quarterback like give you the
- 6:36Speaker 3: confidence to be even more aggressive and just end this
- 6:38Speaker 3: thing early.
- 6:39Speaker 4: I just think that that's it's right now, it's working.
- 6:43Speaker 4: But you're you're flying close to the sun. You know,
- 6:46Speaker 4: like if you send pressure and you get beat over
- 6:49Speaker 4: the top, it can be a seventy five yard touchdown
- 6:51Speaker 4: as easily as it can be second in tent And
- 6:53Speaker 4: when you play a game against these bad quarterbacks, like,
- 6:56Speaker 4: there's just no reason to be that aggressive, you know,
- 6:58Speaker 4: just they're going to make So we're just gonna sit
- 7:01Speaker 4: here in our coverage and we're gonna count on the
- 7:04Speaker 4: fact that cam Ward.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Is going to don't take chances if you don't have to.
- 7:09Speaker 6: To the play that Mike just talked about, and you're right,
- 7:12Speaker 6: it's one play of a whole season worth, you know,
- 7:15Speaker 6: small sample size, but that first play of the game
- 7:17Speaker 6: in New Orleans, you're playing one of the teams that
- 7:19Speaker 6: Evan's kind of describing, make them drive on you, and
- 7:23Speaker 6: you gave them a fifty yard chunk play in the
- 7:24Speaker 6: first play of the game, right, because anybody can complete one.
- 7:29Speaker 6: And I think that the philosophy for the Patriots throughout
- 7:35Speaker 6: much of the season was let's make sure they complete
- 7:37Speaker 6: eight or nine to get out and score not one
- 7:40Speaker 6: against these quarterbacks, and for the most part it worked.
- 7:43Speaker 6: Now to me, it's about the line of scrimmage. They've
- 7:46Speaker 6: been dominant upfront and it's across the board. It's like
- 7:50Speaker 6: all six or seven of those guys, they're just owning
- 7:53Speaker 6: the physicality at the line of scrimmage. They're owning the
- 7:56Speaker 6: line of scrimmage. Both games, the opponent has not been
- 7:59Speaker 6: able to run at all. And I made the comment
- 8:03Speaker 6: on the postgame show, we had made a big deal
- 8:06Speaker 6: of that fifty rushing yards thing. No one's been able
- 8:09Speaker 6: to run for fifty yards like that's like they had
- 8:13Speaker 6: seventeen yards the other day, like fourteen carries for seventeen yards.
- 8:17Speaker 6: But what he marks like this is blowing that fifty
- 8:20Speaker 6: yard thing out.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Of the water.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Do you think this would have happened dominant Milton Williams
- 8:24Speaker 3: and Spoiling hadn't come back, And I got I was
- 8:27Speaker 3: going to just highlight Mint Milton Williams.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I think he is an absolute stud and I don't
- 8:30Speaker 1: know what I expected him to be coming over from
- 8:32Speaker 1: the Eagles, but I don't know if it was this,
- 8:35Speaker 1: because he looks every bit the game wrecord that they've
- 8:38Speaker 1: needed him to be he's consistently in the backfield. I mean,
- 8:41Speaker 1: at least a couple in my head, remembering like he's
- 8:43Speaker 1: just walking the garden to the backfield and the running
- 8:45Speaker 1: back's already got to make a cut two yards deep
- 8:48Speaker 1: and then he just you know, and the rest of
- 8:49Speaker 1: the team swarms to it. I think he is if
- 8:52Speaker 1: we didn't realize it during the season, realizing now what
- 8:55Speaker 1: a key piece he is to this defense. But I
- 8:57Speaker 1: just wanted to go back real quick to the point
- 8:59Speaker 1: the boys were was what do they do this week
- 9:02Speaker 1: against Jared Stidham. Do they go back to maybe take
- 9:05Speaker 1: the foot off the gas a little bit and try
- 9:07Speaker 1: to make it to him execute, or do they do
- 9:09Speaker 1: Fret's thing and continue their playoff I watch, I.
- 9:12Speaker 4: Think they have to do what they've been doing because
- 9:14Speaker 4: I don't know how many points the Patriots are going
- 9:16Speaker 4: to score on that Broncos defense. So if I'm the Patriots,
- 9:20Speaker 4: I'm thinking maximize possessions. This might be another game where
- 9:23Speaker 4: the defense is going to have to play really well. Now,
- 9:26Speaker 4: it should be easier in theory, I guess. I mean,
- 9:29Speaker 4: I don't know, like you're talking about it before the show,
- 9:31Speaker 4: dos like how much worse? Can Jared s didn't play
- 9:33Speaker 4: than CJ. Stroud did on Sunday?
- 9:35Speaker 3: I guarantee he'll be better.
- 9:37Speaker 4: I don't guarantee that, But how much worse?
- 9:38Speaker 3: Is not going to have a twenty eight quarterback rate
- 9:41Speaker 3: he had a I mean, I don't know.
- 9:43Speaker 4: I don't know. I'm not going to guarantee he's.
- 9:45Speaker 6: Going to be able to say as a blanket statement,
- 9:47Speaker 6: I'd find it awfully hard to believe that a guy's
- 9:49Speaker 6: capable of playing as badly as Stroud did Sunday? But
- 9:52Speaker 6: how much better than that?
- 9:53Speaker 4: I think there's a difference Like Stroud through four picks,
- 9:56Speaker 4: which is awful, but like could Stidham complete like forty
- 10:00Speaker 4: percent of his passes and have absolutely no semblance of
- 10:03Speaker 4: anything positive?
- 10:04Speaker 3: Like?
- 10:04Speaker 1: But did both of those right?
- 10:06Speaker 4: But like, I don't know. I just I think the
- 10:08Speaker 4: turnovers is one thing.
- 10:10Speaker 3: But do I have to do I have to, like,
- 10:13Speaker 3: you know, give a little lesson here?
- 10:15Speaker 6: I don't know, I mean, can you can you say it?
- 10:18Speaker 3: Everyone's I know, but everyone's saying that this is getting figured?
- 10:23Speaker 3: Is you know coming in and this is a layup?
- 10:26Speaker 3: It ain't I'm telling you right now. Teams rise up,
- 10:29Speaker 3: especially good teams with good coaches, they figure it out,
- 10:33Speaker 3: they they work around it, and this is going to
- 10:35Speaker 3: be a tough game. Going to be a tough game.
- 10:39Speaker 4: I agree, but not because of Diddam. Like I, I
- 10:41Speaker 4: think the Broncos defense.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Is because they're a good team with a good coach.
- 10:44Speaker 4: They're good, They're a good defense.
- 10:46Speaker 6: I'm down on the defense, to be honest with you,
- 10:48Speaker 6: I'm down on almost everything I've seen from Denver since
- 10:53Speaker 6: they kind of got on the radar, you know, everybody
- 10:56Speaker 6: started talking about and they want a bunch of games
- 10:58Speaker 6: in a row. And I don't think they're frauds. So
- 10:59Speaker 6: before or anybody like starts making fun of me for that,
- 11:02Speaker 6: I think they're a good team. I think they're like
- 11:04Speaker 6: all the other teams, like they're all good. But defensively,
- 11:08Speaker 6: I've seen them play down the stretch maybe three or
- 11:12Speaker 6: four times, and I haven't been overly impressed. What I
- 11:15Speaker 6: was watching from Houston down the stretch and then what
- 11:18Speaker 6: I saw Sunday impress the hell out of me. I
- 11:21Speaker 6: don't look at this defense is anywhere near that caliber,
- 11:24Speaker 6: and I know the numbers indicate that they're close. I
- 11:27Speaker 6: just the one thing that I would be concerned about
- 11:29Speaker 6: with Denver, and I'm sure Evan's going to get into
- 11:32Speaker 6: all the ex's and o's far greater detail than I'd
- 11:35Speaker 6: ever want to even try. That's probably more accurate. They
- 11:40Speaker 6: get after the passer, and probably your biggest concern through
- 11:44Speaker 6: two games offensively is the inability to a protect the
- 11:49Speaker 6: passer and B have may handle the pressure with his
- 11:53Speaker 6: presence protect the ball.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Yeah, so that.
- 11:56Speaker 6: To me could be a great equalizer if Nick Benito
- 11:59Speaker 6: or someone has a couple of strip sacks. Otherwise I
- 12:02Speaker 6: think you're gonna move. I mean, Buffalo Josh Allen played
- 12:05Speaker 6: one of the worst playoff games, maybe the worst playoff
- 12:08Speaker 6: game of his career. They put thirty on the board.
- 12:10Speaker 6: They turned the ball over five times and put thirty
- 12:12Speaker 6: on them.
- 12:13Speaker 3: But in between those turnovers he was playing great.
- 12:15Speaker 6: But he was awful in the game.
- 12:17Speaker 4: For him, I think I think they it's a different
- 12:21Speaker 4: type of chance. No, No, it's a different type of challenge.
- 12:23Speaker 4: You know, like Houston wins with structure and and just talent,
- 12:27Speaker 4: flat out talent. Denver cooks it up a lot more
- 12:31Speaker 4: like Denver is uh, you know, they they're they're doing
- 12:35Speaker 4: a lot of things on tape that are are very exotic.
- 12:37Speaker 4: They're running a lot of match coverages, they're running a
- 12:40Speaker 4: lot of pressure schemes. They blitz a lot like this
- 12:43Speaker 4: is a vance. Joseph is a you know.
- 12:48Speaker 3: He is really He's one of those guys.
- 12:51Speaker 4: He's one of those guys that really cooks it up.
- 12:53Speaker 4: Whereas Houston the time of his life, Houston, you kind
- 12:57Speaker 4: of knew what you were going to get. It was
- 12:59Speaker 4: just whether not you could block the edges right like that.
- 13:02Speaker 4: It was really came down to that. Whereas with this
- 13:05Speaker 4: Broncos team, like you can go into a blender a
- 13:07Speaker 4: lot quicker, I would say against the Broncos because you're
- 13:10Speaker 4: not going to understand what you're looking at from a
- 13:12Speaker 4: schematic standpoint.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Then with Houston, it's so much on Drake to me,
- 13:16Speaker 1: and that's yes, you're looking at Stidham and what's in
- 13:19Speaker 1: front of you. But I mean, if this team legitimately
- 13:22Speaker 1: wants to have a chance to win a Super Bowl,
- 13:23Speaker 1: Drake's gonna have to be better. And I said on
- 13:25Speaker 1: the show when we take pu TV yesterday that you know,
- 13:28Speaker 1: we had some MVP type moments, but it wasn't an
- 13:31Speaker 1: MVP type performance from him, not at all. And I
- 13:34Speaker 1: wonder Tavin's point because we said last week it wasn't
- 13:37Speaker 1: a lot mentally that he was going to have to
- 13:39Speaker 1: digest with the line of scrimmage. It was just that
- 13:40Speaker 1: these guys, I just think they don't get blocked. You
- 13:43Speaker 1: got to move them.
- 13:43Speaker 3: But he cannot have him sit in the pocket. He's
- 13:46Speaker 3: got to you gotta move him around.
- 13:48Speaker 4: So I don't think the pressure was all that bad.
- 13:52Speaker 6: I thought, I kind of.
- 13:54Speaker 4: I think Campbell. I think Campbell got whooped all right,
- 13:56Speaker 4: like just putting it objectively a couple of times, and
- 14:01Speaker 4: but overall, he was only under pressure on like twenty
- 14:04Speaker 4: five percent of his dropbacks.
- 14:06Speaker 6: The way he's handling the pressure that was the right.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Side of the offensive line was fantastic. Morgan Moses pitched
- 14:12Speaker 4: a shutout on the right side on Daniel Hunter for
- 14:15Speaker 4: most of the game. So I don't think that this
- 14:18Speaker 4: was one of those games where it was like he
- 14:20Speaker 4: was under siege for four quarters. The bad plays were
- 14:24Speaker 4: just really really bad. Yeah, you know, like we had
- 14:27Speaker 4: three really bad strip sacks that just can't happen that
- 14:33Speaker 4: probably in a normal playoff game, you lose because of I.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Saw, And there's only one instance this coming to mind,
- 14:40Speaker 1: but I don't know if you saw more of it,
- 14:41Speaker 1: but I saw some return of the drift into pressure
- 14:44Speaker 1: kind of thing and drift into his guys. I think
- 14:46Speaker 1: it was one of the strip sacks. We kind of
- 14:47Speaker 1: went right into Moses right like, and his arm hit
- 14:49Speaker 1: right on his back.
- 14:50Speaker 8: You know.
- 14:51Speaker 4: I g that one was the one that was backed
- 14:53Speaker 4: up on his own goal line, and you know it,
- 14:56Speaker 4: he's super lucky that they recovered that. And that wasn't
- 14:59Speaker 4: a fumble six or setting them up at the two
- 15:02Speaker 4: yard line or something like that, which is usually well,
- 15:05Speaker 4: they scored the two yard lines, so I shouldn't say
- 15:07Speaker 4: an automatic touchdown, but usually it is. But outside of
- 15:11Speaker 4: those like two or three catastrophic plays, I actually didn't
- 15:16Speaker 4: think the offensive line played all that poorly in this game, Campbell, notwithstanding.
- 15:22Speaker 1: I mean, there are four fumbles. Those are big plays. Yeah,
- 15:26Speaker 1: But I just I go back to you're gonna get
- 15:28Speaker 1: to the super Bowl. It's not gonna be good enough
- 15:30Speaker 1: for usus whether it's the Seahawks or the Ram, especially
- 15:32Speaker 1: the Seahawks with their defense, but against the Rams, they
- 15:35Speaker 1: can score. They've got pieces, So you know, it's not
- 15:37Speaker 1: just about getting through this next round. It's about and
- 15:39Speaker 1: I said to Evan, I feel he hasn't played MVP
- 15:42Speaker 1: level sixty minutes these first two playoff games. So that
- 15:45Speaker 1: makes me think like he should be due. He should
- 15:47Speaker 1: be due for a bounce back. I know it doesn't
- 15:48Speaker 1: make sense to say, oh, you're gonna go on the
- 15:50Speaker 1: road in the ANFC Championship and all of a sudden,
- 15:52Speaker 1: you're gonna play good, But they just need more from him.
- 15:55Speaker 1: They're gonna need more for him to win this year,
- 15:57Speaker 1: to make success.
- 15:57Speaker 3: The team has had on the road this year means
- 16:00Speaker 3: anything a little bit, I do.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they have confidence, and I mean i'd
- 16:04Speaker 1: also say, though, I think Denver is Denver's defense is
- 16:06Speaker 1: probably gonna take more onto themselves that they have to
- 16:08Speaker 1: play better. They're gonna play with a little bit of
- 16:11Speaker 1: extra energy too.
- 16:11Speaker 6: I think so, and I do wonder and I guess
- 16:16Speaker 6: sixteen minutes it's gonna happen. Does Drake May you know, like,
- 16:22Speaker 6: because you're gonna scoff at this, I know you are.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Okay, here we go.
- 16:26Speaker 6: I don't think he has to do as much in
- 16:28Speaker 6: this game because I don't think they're going to have
- 16:31Speaker 6: to score.
- 16:31Speaker 1: As much in this. I like that point. I know
- 16:32Speaker 1: what you're saying.
- 16:33Speaker 6: I mean, I think you play to the fact that
- 16:35Speaker 6: jareds Didham's playing and the other two. So Greg, I know.
- 16:38Speaker 3: We've with a conservative play calling.
- 16:40Speaker 6: Well, if that's what it takes to get him to
- 16:42Speaker 6: protect the ball. Yes, And I think that there was Listen,
- 16:47Speaker 6: I don't know what was being said. Okay, it's dangerous
- 16:50Speaker 6: to like look from the press box down on the
- 16:52Speaker 6: sideline and interpret what's going on, but I kind of
- 16:55Speaker 6: felt like there was a time there in this set.
- 16:57Speaker 6: And I talked about this in the postgame show in
- 16:59Speaker 6: the second half that Mike and Josh were talking Rabel
- 17:02Speaker 6: and McDaniels, and I kind of got the impression it's like,
- 17:08Speaker 6: you know, we gotta we gotta run the ball, and
- 17:11Speaker 6: Josh is like, Mike, we can't run it. I mean,
- 17:13Speaker 6: you're watching the game. We haven't been able to run it.
- 17:15Speaker 6: We're in third and you know, second and eight, second
- 17:17Speaker 6: and nine. Every every possession. What did they have nine
- 17:20Speaker 6: to three an ounce in that game?
- 17:22Speaker 1: I think six six, So.
- 17:27Speaker 6: I see we did. So Yeah, I think that they
- 17:31Speaker 6: need to be more conservative. If May is showing any
- 17:35Speaker 6: signs of not having the ball security because I really
- 17:38Speaker 6: and this is the part you're gonna the only way
- 17:40Speaker 6: they can lose this game is to do what they've
- 17:41Speaker 6: done in these two games and put the ball on
- 17:43Speaker 6: the ground constantly. They don't see any way that they
- 17:47Speaker 6: do not have a turnover in Denver and lose this game.
- 17:50Speaker 3: I don't know, But you don't think that bo Nitz
- 17:52Speaker 3: is that great?
- 17:54Speaker 6: I don't, but he's significantly better than the guy who's
- 17:56Speaker 6: playing now do we know that?
- 17:57Speaker 9: Yes?
- 17:59Speaker 6: How because the other guy can't play for any of
- 18:02Speaker 6: the teams that he's been on.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Well, he's been like he's been behind some good quarterbacks.
- 18:06Speaker 4: Who is he behind Brian Hoyer? He backed up Brian Hoyer.
- 18:12Speaker 4: Who is he behind here like Cam Newton and Brian Hoyer? Yeah?
- 18:17Speaker 4: I know, but in Vegas because he's also I don't
- 18:20Speaker 4: want to go.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Back to the shot here.
- 18:22Speaker 3: I don't want to go back in the history of Jarrison,
- 18:24Speaker 3: but I think he fell out of the doghouse for
- 18:26Speaker 3: some off field reasons, you know, with the injury, the
- 18:30Speaker 3: wedding and all that.
- 18:31Speaker 6: Why is that trailing him? But I'm just saying, why
- 18:34Speaker 6: there's that trailing him in Vegas?
- 18:36Speaker 3: And I don't think he's had a chance in this
- 18:38Speaker 3: league to prove himself either way good or bad.
- 18:42Speaker 6: Yeah, but I think when you're in the league as
- 18:44Speaker 6: long as he has, you should have gotten a chance
- 18:46Speaker 6: to play.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Yeah, but you also get.
- 18:48Speaker 6: You if you deserved a chance to play, you would
- 18:50Speaker 6: have gotten it. My point of view, he's had career
- 18:55Speaker 6: starts in what eight years? How many years have been
- 18:58Speaker 6: in the league?
- 18:59Speaker 8: Five?
- 19:00Speaker 1: Nineteen?
- 19:01Speaker 3: Yeah, six, five or six?
- 19:04Speaker 6: What year did you get you get drafted nineteen right,
- 19:07Speaker 6: nineteen twenty one to two to three to four, twenty five?
- 19:09Speaker 6: That's seven years?
- 19:12Speaker 3: Well, yea twenty six is we don't count yet, it
- 19:14Speaker 3: hasn't happened, you know, twenty five, yeah, five and by
- 19:17Speaker 3: nineteen so that's six, right, five and one five plus
- 19:22Speaker 3: one to.
- 19:22Speaker 6: Six, nineteen, twenty twenty one, twenty two, twenty three, twenty
- 19:25Speaker 6: four to twenty five. That's seven seasons. Math Again, I'll
- 19:30Speaker 6: reiterate it, well, seven seasons, four starts at least three
- 19:34Speaker 6: teams right now.
- 19:37Speaker 4: I hear what Paul is saying to him. He's right,
- 19:40Speaker 4: But I think at the same time, I do have
- 19:42Speaker 4: respect for Sean Payton, and I think that I agree
- 19:44Speaker 4: with that that Sean Payton will have a really good
- 19:47Speaker 4: first fifteen where they're probably going to move the pocket
- 19:49Speaker 4: a bunch and get the ball out of his hands,
- 19:51Speaker 4: and she's going to get tried to try to run
- 19:53Speaker 4: the ball and they might have some earliest success in
- 19:56Speaker 4: the game.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Oh, I just I just want to ask the question now,
- 20:00Speaker 3: you know, get it out here. Now. If he comes
- 20:03Speaker 3: out and he does pretty well, is because the Patriots
- 20:06Speaker 3: defense thinks, now he did him I'm talking.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Can I see it?
- 20:10Speaker 3: I mean, well, yeah, what's pretty If he comes out
- 20:12Speaker 3: and he's like, you know, sixty five percent passing and
- 20:15Speaker 3: he's not turning the ball over many yards, I don't know.
- 20:20Speaker 4: I don't like if he looks at.
- 20:22Speaker 6: But like sixty five percent passing for like eighty yards,
- 20:25Speaker 6: yeah great. No, I'm not going to say anything about
- 20:28Speaker 6: the Patriots defense. Does he put like twenty eight points
- 20:30Speaker 6: and throw for you know, to eighty with sixty five
- 20:33Speaker 6: percent passing, then I'll say, eh, yeah, all it took
- 20:36Speaker 6: was a quarterback to not poop himself and the defense.
- 20:38Speaker 4: Look, there's a long way from a good first fifteen
- 20:41Speaker 4: to too eighty and sixty five percent passing exactly. And
- 20:45Speaker 4: now it's sort of my point was like I I
- 20:47Speaker 4: wouldn't be shocked if he comes out and plays pretty
- 20:50Speaker 4: well to start the game. Now they're going to have
- 20:52Speaker 4: plays that they've practiced all week that he's going to
- 20:54Speaker 4: feel comfortable running. It's always the challenge of once you
- 20:57Speaker 4: get out of the script, like how does it go
- 20:59Speaker 4: for there? Sure for all teams, and I don't know
- 21:02Speaker 4: if you know, the good quarterbacks will be able to
- 21:05Speaker 4: play well through four quarters. I don't know if Sidham
- 21:08Speaker 4: is going to be able to do that. But I
- 21:10Speaker 4: wouldn't be surprised if Sean Payton has something ready that
- 21:13Speaker 4: he probably would have called the same game with Bo Nicks, honestly, Like,
- 21:16Speaker 4: you know, I think there's.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Similar theff styles.
- 21:18Speaker 6: I think Stidham probably has a better arm, but I
- 21:21Speaker 6: think Knicks is the better player in terms of overall
- 21:24Speaker 6: package and obviously what he's done with games on the
- 21:29Speaker 6: line and you know, late situations. He's been really good,
- 21:31Speaker 6: right like six.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Or seven fourth quarter comebacks this year, and he's got.
- 21:35Speaker 4: Five fourth quarter comebacks, seven game winning drives. That's the
- 21:38Speaker 4: most in the league. And I think that's a big
- 21:40Speaker 4: part of it, is that intangible quality of the clutch
- 21:42Speaker 4: in that factor but Nix is more mobile and it's
- 21:47Speaker 4: not particularly close. You know, Stidham's not a statue, but
- 21:50Speaker 4: Knicks is really nimble. He can get out on the pocket.
- 21:53Speaker 4: He's more comfortable, I would say, in a lot of ways,
- 21:56Speaker 4: throwing on the move, throwing from different platforms, arming, different
- 22:00Speaker 4: things like that. That's not Jared Stidham's game. They're going
- 22:03Speaker 4: to have to get Jared Stidham to sit in the
- 22:05Speaker 4: pocket and make throws, whereas like twenty five percent of
- 22:08Speaker 4: bo Nix's throws around.
- 22:10Speaker 3: I restley don't know what Jared Stidham's game is.
- 22:12Speaker 4: Jared Stidham is a pocket quarterback. He's got a good arm.
- 22:16Speaker 4: I think that if he's cleaned, like a lot of
- 22:18Speaker 4: NFL quarterbacks, you know, he can hit throws down the field.
- 22:21Speaker 4: But it's just from his college tape, from just everything.
- 22:25Speaker 4: I watched some of his preseason last night, I you know,
- 22:28Speaker 4: went back and watched a couple of his starts in
- 22:30Speaker 4: twenty three, which we were Sean Payton still in Denver. Now,
- 22:34Speaker 4: this Broncos team now is a lot better than that
- 22:36Speaker 4: Broncos team was in terms of surrounding talent. I think
- 22:39Speaker 4: the only other thing I would add is this is
- 22:41Speaker 4: the best offensive line they've faced yet. That's what I
- 22:43Speaker 4: was buy am a country mile.
- 22:45Speaker 6: So would that prevent you I wanted to get into that.
- 22:48Speaker 6: I'm glad you opened the door. Would that cause you
- 22:51Speaker 6: to maybe rethink some of the pressure stuff that you've
- 22:54Speaker 6: been doing, because this line seems more equipped to handle
- 22:56Speaker 6: some of that stuff, whereas certainly the Charges look like
- 22:59Speaker 6: they had never seen one before four, And at times
- 23:01Speaker 6: the Texans looked pretty leaky too.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Now I think they've been kind of blitz happy in
- 23:05Speaker 1: the postseason, and I would say that might be how
- 23:07Speaker 1: you have to do it. Yeah, I think just pick.
- 23:09Speaker 6: That would go the opposite way, you know, I would say,
- 23:11Speaker 6: let him try to pick me apart. I'm gonna I'm
- 23:14Speaker 6: going to say that you protect the past it Well,
- 23:16Speaker 6: I'm going to give you that, and I'm going to
- 23:18Speaker 6: really pick and choose my spots with my pressure, and
- 23:21Speaker 6: I'm going to just rely on him not being able
- 23:23Speaker 6: to pick us apart.
- 23:24Speaker 4: I mean, if Chase On plays like he's been playing,
- 23:28Speaker 4: maybe they can still get pressure with four. I don't
- 23:32Speaker 4: know if he's going to have a picnic back there.
- 23:34Speaker 4: If you don't try to bring some extra heat on
- 23:36Speaker 4: him because it's a really good offensive line. They have
- 23:40Speaker 4: two first team All pros.
- 23:41Speaker 6: Nix was only sack twenty two times all year.
- 23:43Speaker 1: It's two.
- 23:44Speaker 6: That's a pretty low number.
- 23:45Speaker 4: Two first team All pros. You know, Garrett Brough bowls
- 23:48Speaker 4: at left tackle, miners the left guard, right guard. Now
- 23:51Speaker 4: the center's hurt, so that that's one area that you know.
- 23:55Speaker 4: They were on their third string center in overtime against
- 23:58Speaker 4: Buffalo last week. I don't know if it's going to
- 24:00Speaker 4: be the backup or the third string, but maybe if
- 24:03Speaker 4: you put Barmore or Williams right over the center and
- 24:05Speaker 4: have him rush on that guy, then you could get
- 24:07Speaker 4: some pressure with the four man rushes. But I think
- 24:10Speaker 4: you risk the fact of like him just kind of
- 24:12Speaker 4: sitting there with all day.
- 24:13Speaker 1: And we've seen some bad quarterbacks go down the field
- 24:16Speaker 1: on this defense. Not to say that they're the same
- 24:17Speaker 1: defense right now, but that I mean, I get what
- 24:19Speaker 1: Paul's saying, and I do agree with spinning the dial
- 24:22Speaker 1: a little bit. There were times I thought where they
- 24:24Speaker 1: you know, dropped everybody out rushed three last week that
- 24:27Speaker 1: you know, caught CJ. Stroud off guard. But I agree
- 24:30Speaker 1: with Evan that was the point I was going to make.
- 24:32Speaker 1: I mean, their their offensive line is really really good,
- 24:35Speaker 1: you know, but they don't really have like a go
- 24:37Speaker 1: to weapon either right now. Like you know, if I
- 24:40Speaker 1: had stid him and I felt great about my running
- 24:42Speaker 1: back JK. Dobbins. Is they activated him off of you know,
- 24:46Speaker 1: designated to return, so he might come back. But you
- 24:48Speaker 1: know what's up with Troy Franklin. He went out of
- 24:50Speaker 1: that game. He's I mean, he's a pretty reliable, dangerous
- 24:53Speaker 1: piece there in the slot. So but is he can
- 24:56Speaker 1: be able to push it downfield the court and something
- 24:58Speaker 1: and Marvin Mims and a from Little Jordan, Little Jordan Humphrey.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Jordan Humphrey.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I think that that's the one thing that
- 25:05Speaker 4: you know, just looking at the matchup, like they became
- 25:07Speaker 4: very pass heavy this year with bo Nicks their top
- 25:10Speaker 4: ten in pass right, they're top ten and drop backs
- 25:15Speaker 4: per game, I think they're like seventh or eighth in
- 25:16Speaker 4: the league and drop backs per game. So when you
- 25:19Speaker 4: look at their team, you know, they threw the ball
- 25:23Speaker 4: seventy three percent of the time against Buffalo on first
- 25:26Speaker 4: and second down last week. They're not going to be
- 25:29Speaker 4: able to do that with a backup quarterback, Like, they're
- 25:31Speaker 4: going to have to find some sort of run game
- 25:34Speaker 4: to balance it out, because if you ask Jared Sidham
- 25:36Speaker 4: to drop back fifty times on Sunday, then the Patriots
- 25:39Speaker 4: will blow them out. So, like, you have to find
- 25:42Speaker 4: a different way to do it, I think, and I
- 25:44Speaker 4: think that's the most interesting part of this matchup to me,
- 25:46Speaker 4: is like, how does can Denver find a running game
- 25:50Speaker 4: that is productive to kind of offset the fact that
- 25:53Speaker 4: they don't have a quarterback that they can drop back
- 25:56Speaker 4: like that.
- 25:56Speaker 1: I thought Tongo looked pretty good too. He looked like
- 25:59Speaker 1: the guy.
- 26:00Speaker 4: You could say a name on that defense and you
- 26:01Speaker 4: would be like, yep, that guy played right. Like literally
- 26:04Speaker 4: every single.
- 26:04Speaker 6: Offense the defense was was very impressive. And you know,
- 26:08Speaker 6: one thing to keep in mind here too, is you know,
- 26:11Speaker 6: the Patriots got fortunate with the concussion protocol last week
- 26:15Speaker 6: with Gonzo, who responded with another really solid game. Now
- 26:19Speaker 6: you have to worry about what Carlton Davis's situation is
- 26:22Speaker 6: going to be. I guess we'll probably learn a little
- 26:23Speaker 6: bit more about that tomorrow.
- 26:25Speaker 3: Yep, But it sounds like from you guys, if you're
- 26:27Speaker 3: gonna miss have a game where you're going to miss
- 26:29Speaker 3: your cornerback. This is it.
- 26:30Speaker 6: But you still I mean, I mean, I am going
- 26:32Speaker 6: to say it's still the AFC Championship game, right when
- 26:35Speaker 6: you when you take when you take your good players.
- 26:38Speaker 6: So I'm very consistent when you take your good players
- 26:40Speaker 6: out of the lineup, and it generally weakens your team.
- 26:44Speaker 6: So I say, Carlton Davis out of the lineup makes
- 26:47Speaker 6: the Patriots secondary less dangerous than it was last.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Week, for sure. And I mean I think I would
- 26:52Speaker 1: I would worry about him chucking it up to Mims
- 26:54Speaker 1: running down field. I mean, they might get to a
- 26:56Speaker 1: certain point where they're desperate, but those are some big
- 26:58Speaker 1: body guys that can who we saw last week, they
- 27:00Speaker 1: can make Playston's a good player.
- 27:02Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, he's not the most consistent, like number
- 27:06Speaker 6: one guy out there, but.
- 27:07Speaker 4: A lot of passes for a number one guy.
- 27:09Speaker 6: But he's you know, he's you know, a volume guy
- 27:12Speaker 6: who averages you know, about fourteen yards of catch. That's
- 27:16Speaker 6: pretty good numbers.
- 27:18Speaker 4: I would assume that, you know, last week, they didn't
- 27:20Speaker 4: shadow the receivers because Nico Collins didn't play in the game,
- 27:23Speaker 4: and so there's really no reason for it. I think
- 27:25Speaker 4: Gonzo's got Cortland Sutton in this game, Like I think
- 27:28Speaker 4: you have him travel with Courton Sutherland because you know
- 27:31Speaker 4: that that's really the engine of their passing game is him.
- 27:35Speaker 4: And I would also say, like Harvey out of the
- 27:37Speaker 4: backfield is sneaky good yep as a scat back, so
- 27:40Speaker 4: you have to be careful about little dump offs into
- 27:43Speaker 4: the flats, especially with a backup quarterback like those are
- 27:46Speaker 4: those are a quarterback's best friend. When you throw the ball,
- 27:48Speaker 4: you know, to your scrimmage and the guy breaks the
- 27:52Speaker 4: tackle and goes for twenty, so you know he's he's
- 27:55Speaker 4: that's on my.
- 27:56Speaker 6: Playing overtime too. Is that one that got the drive going?
- 28:00Speaker 8: Really?
- 28:00Speaker 6: He made a couple of guys miss ended up picking
- 28:02Speaker 6: up about fifteen yards and that's when then the passing
- 28:06Speaker 6: appearances came and the game was over.
- 28:08Speaker 4: Very McDermott got fired, very very.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Quickly coaching Cage.
- 28:12Speaker 1: So the red al ray all right.
- 28:15Speaker 3: Yeah McDermott out halfway now the head coach of Miami yep, yep,
- 28:22Speaker 3: Sala got hired Titans coach of the Titans. Who else got.
- 28:27Speaker 4: Hired other than Harbaughs? So far that in Atlanta, right, fans.
- 28:35Speaker 6: Yeah, I think four of those jobs are filled, but
- 28:38Speaker 6: now there's still six openings.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I kind of feel like the Titans were trying to
- 28:41Speaker 1: get like I was calling them t move Rabel, Like
- 28:43Speaker 1: they're like, let's get the let's get the Rabel kind
- 28:45Speaker 1: of guy back again.
- 28:46Speaker 4: You know, I can't believe the Bills fired McDermott and
- 28:52Speaker 4: promoted Brendan Bean like that to me is absolutely crazy.
- 28:57Speaker 4: They he literally failed up like I I like it's
- 28:59Speaker 4: his fault. Like the team, the roster is not as
- 29:02Speaker 4: good as it used to be, So I don't really
- 29:04Speaker 4: understand how the GM the first right is the one
- 29:07Speaker 4: that that survives that. But that's something. They're gonna open
- 29:12Speaker 4: a new stadium and they have no idea who the coach.
- 29:14Speaker 6: I know, Tom's really weird that they did that with
- 29:16Speaker 6: with being I would have thought that would be a package.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Joe Brady promoted.
- 29:20Speaker 4: Is that possible as possible?
- 29:21Speaker 6: It's possible. I think that would be a bad move,
- 29:23Speaker 6: but that's that's possible.
- 29:24Speaker 3: I know Tomlin said he doesn't want to coach this year,
- 29:27Speaker 3: but I got a feeling that's just posturing, like.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Okay, until the until.
- 29:31Speaker 6: The until every until every job is filled for it.
- 29:34Speaker 6: I think that's in play.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Well, what would you guys do with Josh Allen? I
- 29:37Speaker 1: just think that's interesting because I think he's had some
- 29:38Speaker 1: success with Joe Brady and they had a little bit
- 29:40Speaker 1: of a lull with what Dorsey, you know, and they
- 29:42Speaker 1: got rid of him and they brought Ready back in,
- 29:44Speaker 1: like you know, do you I mean, but you kind
- 29:47Speaker 1: of have to get a new OC, right, like you
- 29:48Speaker 1: can bring back Dah and keep the ocring David.
- 29:52Speaker 6: I wouldn't want a guy with no head coach experience
- 29:55Speaker 6: to inherit what I think is a team that's capable
- 29:58Speaker 6: of playing deep in the playoffs. I would want a
- 30:00Speaker 6: guy with more even Dable. I know it was only
- 30:03Speaker 6: what three years, three and a half years, but it
- 30:04Speaker 6: was with the Giants that to me would be more
- 30:06Speaker 6: significant than Brady. Plus I know that Allen won an
- 30:10Speaker 6: MVP with Brady, but I think he had his best
- 30:12Speaker 6: success with Dable. Yeah, so there was something there. I
- 30:15Speaker 6: think that worked with Dave Rolman. But either one of
- 30:19Speaker 6: those two guys, the more important thing for Buffalo is
- 30:22Speaker 6: going to be you have to find someone to run
- 30:24Speaker 6: the defense. Because we could talk about Josh Allen's turnovers
- 30:27Speaker 6: all you want, they can't. They every one of these
- 30:29Speaker 6: playoff games they allow thirty plus points and that's when
- 30:32Speaker 6: they go home. And they were supposed to be a
- 30:33Speaker 6: defensive oriented team, you know, with a defensive minded head coach.
- 30:37Speaker 6: I think that's probably as big a reason as any
- 30:39Speaker 6: is why ra is out of a job.
- 30:41Speaker 4: And their past defense has been great, yeah, and it
- 30:43Speaker 4: was great again this year.
- 30:44Speaker 6: They can't get pressure, especially when the games are well.
- 30:47Speaker 4: Yeah, And I think that their scheme, the way that
- 30:49Speaker 4: they you know, line up up front, run the same
- 30:54Speaker 4: front they've ran for fifteen years, and like at some
- 30:56Speaker 4: point it's like, you know, I remember guys on the
- 30:59Speaker 4: Patriots offensive line being like we're getting the four to
- 31:02Speaker 4: three over, like that's what we're getting, and it's like, yeah,
- 31:04Speaker 4: you know where the weaknesses are, you know where to
- 31:06Speaker 4: run the ball against them. Their run defense has not
- 31:08Speaker 4: been very good really at all for the last four
- 31:12Speaker 4: or five years. So I'm just surprised that they, like,
- 31:17Speaker 4: you know, Fred mentioned Tomlin like, well, do you want
- 31:20Speaker 4: like that kind of guy, like, because that's what McDermott is, like,
- 31:24Speaker 4: do you want the defensive guy, program builder, you know,
- 31:28Speaker 4: that sort of guy or do you want like the
- 31:31Speaker 4: type pants guy that's going to come in.
- 31:32Speaker 1: And really right handcuffed you out Josh to a type
- 31:35Speaker 1: pants guy, remake him.
- 31:36Speaker 4: A little bit right, right, Like, I don't know which
- 31:39Speaker 4: way you go. I mean, it's not a great coaching
- 31:42Speaker 4: carousel for the type pants guys. There's no Ben Johnson
- 31:45Speaker 4: in this group.
- 31:46Speaker 6: And I do think Dabel or Brady would be good
- 31:48Speaker 6: for Josh Allen, But I'm talking about like what's best
- 31:52Speaker 6: for the team as well.
- 31:53Speaker 1: The guy from Indiana, I don't know. I mean, well, yeah,
- 31:57Speaker 1: he doesn't want to go.
- 31:57Speaker 6: I don't think anybody could afford that.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Yeah, he says is not interested in it.
- 32:00Speaker 9: Yet.
- 32:01Speaker 6: The money, well, that contract and signs he is. Just
- 32:05Speaker 6: that contract that he signed, he just signed like major money.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I mean and regardless, the defense is going
- 32:11Speaker 1: to change. I mean, that's McDermott's defense, So that is
- 32:13Speaker 1: a given that they're going to have to reconstitute that
- 32:16Speaker 1: defense into something.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Evan's point like, they haven't do something about their personnel,
- 32:21Speaker 3: and they.
- 32:22Speaker 6: That's why they promoted the Brandon Bean thing is weird to.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Me, right, and now they might be looking for different
- 32:27Speaker 1: personnel too.
- 32:30Speaker 4: Was closed real real quick.
- 32:32Speaker 6: I was just I was reading something about this this morning,
- 32:34Speaker 6: and I had forgotten, like how many times Brandon being
- 32:39Speaker 6: got really really pissy with the media, you know, talking
- 32:44Speaker 6: about the wide receiver room pretty you know, in this
- 32:46Speaker 6: this current offseason, winding about how hard it is, you know,
- 32:50Speaker 6: cap wise, like all these things that really aren't things
- 32:53Speaker 6: anymore that other teams have been able to overcome. I
- 32:55Speaker 6: think it was one of your boys, Evan, Ben Benjamin
- 33:00Speaker 6: and Solac. He wrote a really comprehensive piece about like
- 33:04Speaker 6: kind of you know, the fall. You know, mcdermot's the
- 33:07Speaker 6: fall guy. But you can look at Bean and you
- 33:10Speaker 6: can look at Alan himself at some of these shortcomings
- 33:13Speaker 6: when it matters most, and some of the quotes from
- 33:16Speaker 6: Brandon Bean, like I forgot about some of that stuff,
- 33:20Speaker 6: and he just is one of these guys. Nothing's his fault,
- 33:23Speaker 6: you see why he stayed. He's sitting next to the
- 33:25Speaker 6: Pagoulas and he's saying, I gave him all of this
- 33:27Speaker 6: he has that we have this roster. We have that roster.
- 33:30Speaker 6: He's not doing anything with him. It's the age old thing,
- 33:33Speaker 6: the GM sitting next to the coach.
- 33:34Speaker 3: All right, eight five to five Pats five hundred is
- 33:36Speaker 3: the Hotline podcast at Patriots dot com. Sweeney in Providence
- 33:40Speaker 3: just a friendly reminder that Paul thinks c. J. Straud
- 33:43Speaker 3: is a very good quarterback.
- 33:44Speaker 4: How he knew that was coming?
- 33:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I deserve these I thought he was too, And
- 33:48Speaker 1: I honestly, I don't know where it is.
- 33:49Speaker 6: I think the Patriots deserve some credit.
- 33:51Speaker 4: Yeah, and I saw somebody like me, you know, just right.
- 33:53Speaker 1: He's still trying to get back to that level he
- 33:55Speaker 1: had as a rookie. And you know, last year I
- 33:57Speaker 1: felt like he was still good, but you know, Dell
- 34:00Speaker 1: got hurt. It felt like he was holding things together,
- 34:02Speaker 1: you know, with a thread. And I just I'm surprised
- 34:05Speaker 1: at how he's looked here, feeder and mess.
- 34:08Speaker 6: He's I mean, I can't. I don't have anything to
- 34:10Speaker 6: say on a positive nature about anything he's done in
- 34:12Speaker 6: these two playoff games. He's been awful. But I give
- 34:14Speaker 6: the Patriots defense credit for some of the stuff that
- 34:17Speaker 6: happened Sunday.
- 34:17Speaker 1: I mean, Chase was just on him so fast. It's
- 34:20Speaker 1: just forcing bad decisions.
- 34:21Speaker 4: His feeter and mess like his feet under pressure. He
- 34:24Speaker 4: throws from wonky platforms consistently. It's not even just the turnovers,
- 34:29Speaker 4: Like he's just missing flat out missing open receivers.
- 34:32Speaker 6: Turnover worthy play number for him.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Yeah, he had six, that's it.
- 34:36Speaker 4: Six.
- 34:37Speaker 6: Yeah, felt like he had six in the first quarter
- 34:40Speaker 6: and hadn't turned it over right, But you know, he's
- 34:42Speaker 6: just It was worse watching it back than it was
- 34:45Speaker 6: even live, Like, you know, missing receivers in the end
- 34:48Speaker 6: zone on that goal line sequence, he missed two, the one, three.
- 34:52Speaker 4: To the you know down underneath, and then he came
- 34:55Speaker 4: off the front side of a read a little bit
- 34:56Speaker 4: too quickly. I think he was sped up at that
- 34:58Speaker 4: point then, like you know, missing guys because his feet
- 35:02Speaker 4: aren't set properly and he's feeling the pressure come in
- 35:05Speaker 4: and his feet are all over the place. I really
- 35:08Speaker 4: like Tamika Ryans, and I think he's a great defensive coach,
- 35:10Speaker 4: but that team's going nowhere.
- 35:12Speaker 6: The quarterback, they got a lot of work to do
- 35:14Speaker 6: with him this offseason. I said it to Evan at halftime,
- 35:17Speaker 6: I'd have made the change I was thinking about it.
- 35:20Speaker 6: I would have put Davis Mills in. I don't know
- 35:22Speaker 6: what it would have mattered, because I don't think Davis
- 35:24Speaker 6: Mills is any good, but to Fred's point about Stidham,
- 35:28Speaker 6: I cannot imagine a guy playing a worse game than that.
- 35:32Speaker 6: I was as bad of a performance as I.
- 35:33Speaker 3: Was thinking that first drive, second half, they'd make the decision.
- 35:37Speaker 3: But he actually looked pretty good on that first drive.
- 35:39Speaker 1: Yeah, if you remember, I mean even at the end
- 35:41Speaker 1: of the game when they were backed up in their
- 35:42Speaker 1: own end zone and you know, I'm like, oh my god,
- 35:44Speaker 1: this is scary for these guys right now, letting the
- 35:46Speaker 1: first play of the game.
- 35:47Speaker 4: They rolled him out the first play of the game
- 35:48Speaker 4: and he misses.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Yeah, that was That was one I said to Paul
- 35:54Speaker 1: I know on the postgame show that one of the
- 35:56Speaker 1: big differences in this game was that the Patriots recovered
- 35:58Speaker 1: too of their own fumbles and they also returned.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Oh listen, that game could have turned very easily, man.
- 36:03Speaker 1: But the other thing that I think was was a
- 36:05Speaker 1: big difference was that the Patriots made three amazing catches
- 36:08Speaker 1: on touchdowns and the Texans missed like six layup catches
- 36:11Speaker 1: that you know, I'm thinking of at least one where
- 36:13Speaker 1: they got him on the back side sleeping again with
- 36:15Speaker 1: the tight end just sitting there and right through his hands. Yea,
- 36:18Speaker 1: you know, they had drops and the Patriots made the
- 36:21Speaker 1: tough catches Jonathan and Fontana.
- 36:23Speaker 3: One critique I have about the game is a lack
- 36:25Speaker 3: of play action for McDaniels. Last week, you guys talked
- 36:28Speaker 3: about getting into heavy personnel, taking play action shots deep
- 36:31Speaker 3: would have benefited the offense, and I don't remember if
- 36:34Speaker 3: we got any of that, and especially with Will Campbells
- 36:36Speaker 3: struggles in this game, more play action just made more sense.
- 36:38Speaker 1: They couldn't run the ball, though, so I don't know
- 36:41Speaker 1: if you want to turn your back.
- 36:41Speaker 4: On I thought that was the only attempted one pass
- 36:47Speaker 4: out of the six O line, and I thought they
- 36:49Speaker 4: would do more of that. I thought they would put
- 36:51Speaker 4: seven eight guys in the protection, run two man routes,
- 36:55Speaker 4: try to load up the protection, maybe move the pocket
- 36:57Speaker 4: a little bit. They did try it once and Will Anson,
- 37:00Speaker 4: Sack and Drake may got through, but it was because
- 37:02Speaker 4: the coverage was they got it on the back end.
- 37:05Speaker 4: They covered it well. But I was a little bit surprised.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Now.
- 37:10Speaker 4: I think play action is an easy crutch of just
- 37:13Speaker 4: like when things aren't going well, just call more play action,
- 37:16Speaker 4: Like it doesn't always work like that, But I thought
- 37:19Speaker 4: that in this game if you had one critique of McDaniel's,
- 37:21Speaker 4: I was surprised there weren't more you know, max protections,
- 37:25Speaker 4: move the pocket, you know, those types of things.
- 37:28Speaker 6: I would just say, like, I don't think they played
- 37:30Speaker 6: very well offensively. I don't think that the perform you know,
- 37:34Speaker 6: play calls, you know, I would I wouldn't argue with
- 37:37Speaker 6: any like what play action the email are saying more
- 37:40Speaker 6: moving in the pocket. I do think that they took
- 37:43Speaker 6: shots down the field, which I was expecting and hoping for.
- 37:46Speaker 6: And I think they did take a handful of shots
- 37:48Speaker 6: downfield and had some success with them. I think it
- 37:52Speaker 6: was a big part of the game.
- 37:54Speaker 1: But you know, like.
- 37:57Speaker 6: One of May's fumbles, the May fumble where he ended
- 37:59Speaker 6: up having to it was like a broken play. He
- 38:01Speaker 6: hands the ball to no one because he turned the
- 38:03Speaker 6: wrong way or the running back went the wrong way.
- 38:05Speaker 6: I don't know which was which. He then it's a
- 38:07Speaker 6: broken play and he sort of recklessly dives forward for
- 38:10Speaker 6: no reason and ends up fumbling. Like that's just bad
- 38:13Speaker 6: play all around. You missed your assignment. You know, maybe
- 38:17Speaker 6: two people maybe.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Like the person out of the belt and.
- 38:21Speaker 6: Just take what you know, Okay, the plays it's a
- 38:23Speaker 6: blown play, Like we don't have to make like eighteen
- 38:26Speaker 6: yards out of this. It's a blown and then you
- 38:28Speaker 6: make it bad to worse. You know, Evan talked about
- 38:32Speaker 6: some of the times in the pocket where the pressure
- 38:35Speaker 6: wasn't quote unquote that bad. One of them I think
- 38:38Speaker 6: looked like it was supposed to get me out really quick,
- 38:41Speaker 6: Like the linemen looked like they were cutting and he
- 38:43Speaker 6: ended up holding the ball. Mike, you talked about the
- 38:45Speaker 6: one when he kind of drifted himself into Morgan Moses
- 38:48Speaker 6: and they got pushed back and that led to one
- 38:50Speaker 6: of the fumbles. They just didn't play that well. Like
- 38:53Speaker 6: we can blame it on Josh, but I think that
- 38:56Speaker 6: they need to play better period.
- 38:58Speaker 4: Also not just a quarterback. Some of the pocket maneuvering
- 39:03Speaker 4: mechanics from May, some of it has reverted back to
- 39:07Speaker 4: rookie season stuff where he's drifting, where he's not cognizant
- 39:12Speaker 4: of where the pressure points are. Look when Will Anderson
- 39:15Speaker 4: comes off the blind side in like a half a second,
- 39:18Speaker 4: like there's nothing you can do about that. But you know,
- 39:21Speaker 4: I thought on the other two strip sacks, you know,
- 39:24Speaker 4: having some sense of where the pressure is and how
- 39:28Speaker 4: much time you've spent in the pocket and at some point,
- 39:30Speaker 4: like it's time to get two hands on the ball
- 39:32Speaker 4: and either take a sack or try to scuore it
- 39:35Speaker 4: out or something. But you got to protect the football.
- 39:37Speaker 4: I thought two of the three strip sacks he tried
- 39:40Speaker 4: to load up and I don't even know where he
- 39:42Speaker 4: was throwing the ball, like he was trying to throw
- 39:44Speaker 4: it down the field and he's loaded up, and Will
- 39:47Speaker 4: Anderson and Daniel Hunter are just on top of them,
- 39:50Speaker 4: and it's like, you know, those are the ones that
- 39:52Speaker 4: can't happen.
- 39:52Speaker 6: To defend Josh again. Like, so you had that drive
- 39:54Speaker 6: I want to say, late in the third quarter, which
- 39:56Speaker 6: he started off with one of those little sort of
- 39:58Speaker 6: misdirection boots get him out of the pocket, little dumped
- 40:01Speaker 6: to Austin Hooper, a nice drive started like fifteen yards.
- 40:04Speaker 6: Then I think they tried a similar concept on the
- 40:06Speaker 6: next play and it didn't work as well. Like that's
- 40:09Speaker 6: the play that Will Anderson almost took his head off,
- 40:12Speaker 6: or you know, I think it was Will Anderson. So
- 40:16Speaker 6: when you're playing against teams like that, they're good too,
- 40:21Speaker 6: so you can try a lot of different things. I mean,
- 40:24Speaker 6: Mike made I think the best point. The three touchdowns
- 40:29Speaker 6: were really well defended, and the throws were good, and
- 40:33Speaker 6: the catches were even better, and in the case of Booty's,
- 40:36Speaker 6: was one of the best catches you'll ever see. Those
- 40:40Speaker 6: Those are three dynamite catches by Diggs, Booty and I.
- 40:44Speaker 3: Don't think people elite.
- 40:46Speaker 6: I don't think people realize how good the catch that
- 40:48Speaker 6: Douglas made. That ball got tipped and he maintained his
- 40:53Speaker 6: concentration and was able to catch it and stride and score.
- 40:57Speaker 3: We talked about it on the post game show. Every
- 40:59Speaker 3: play was contested. See a defense, the defensive live, So
- 41:03Speaker 3: you got to give him their praise. The Texans their defense.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Well, and is a man amongst boys, Like I'm watching
- 41:10Speaker 1: him is just the same thing last year. I mean,
- 41:13Speaker 1: you block him for a second, he ain't. That's as
- 41:16Speaker 1: much as you're gonna get because he is like a
- 41:17Speaker 1: magnet to the ball. It's it's it's fun to watch,
- 41:20Speaker 1: I mean it really is, especially when you win. You
- 41:21Speaker 1: don't have to think about him destroying your head.
- 41:23Speaker 3: You know, to give away the ball as many times
- 41:26Speaker 3: the Patriots did and still beat them. No, it's and
- 41:28Speaker 3: that's they got just must be pretty good, all right,
- 41:32Speaker 3: A lot of blind.
- 41:33Speaker 6: The Patriots covered the fumbles right, A.
- 41:34Speaker 3: Lot of a lot of blind going uh on. In
- 41:37Speaker 3: the emails, uh Dylan writes in my favorite part of
- 41:41Speaker 3: the pu shows is when I write in, is when
- 41:44Speaker 3: I get to watch Paul pooh pooh my takes and
- 41:46Speaker 3: then Evan goes to the locker room and Paul complains
- 41:49Speaker 3: about Evan poop pooing his takes. Last week, I wrote
- 41:52Speaker 3: in saying I had no faith in Stroud and outside
- 41:54Speaker 3: of the scoreboard, I thought the defense could step up
- 41:57Speaker 3: against the Texans, and I stand by it, fully aware
- 42:00Speaker 3: that Paul will also poo poo this take as well.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Now you're wrong, right.
- 42:04Speaker 3: Every time we make an opposing QB play bad, it's
- 42:07Speaker 3: because of that QB and not because of our defense.
- 42:09Speaker 3: But that's okay. Every team needs some motivation and I'm
- 42:12Speaker 3: glad that our defense will continue to be underrated moving forward. Deuce,
- 42:17Speaker 3: not sure if it was intentional, but the most postgame interview,
- 42:20Speaker 3: but the postgame interview with Splain where you're stuck in
- 42:23Speaker 3: a reference to Splain leading them was hilarious. I whispered,
- 42:26Speaker 3: lead them, Did you know you were doing that?
- 42:28Speaker 1: I didn't.
- 42:28Speaker 3: I heard it, and I said, oh, I didn't consciously.
- 42:32Speaker 1: Do it, really, but I got credit to my subconscious
- 42:35Speaker 1: for getting it in there.
- 42:35Speaker 4: Someone else pointed out and I was like, I did, Yeah,
- 42:37Speaker 4: all right, good I heard it.
- 42:41Speaker 3: Lastly, Can you imagine if back in July after training camp,
- 42:44Speaker 3: I said to you, I hope Mac Collins went back
- 42:46Speaker 3: from injured reserve before the AFHC Championship game. That's an
- 42:49Speaker 3: important piece of the offense. It's amazing how far we've
- 42:52Speaker 3: come in six months. What an amazing season for a fan.
- 42:55Speaker 4: I hope Mac Collins is out there too. I think
- 42:58Speaker 4: that that has mattered. I'm not saying he's prime Randy Moss,
- 43:01Speaker 4: but I think, yeah, you know, his big contested body,
- 43:05Speaker 4: you know the catch radius like over the middle of
- 43:08Speaker 4: the field, especially like they haven't really been able to
- 43:10Speaker 4: hit those like deep digs and stuff like that over
- 43:12Speaker 4: the middle of the field.
- 43:13Speaker 1: You feel a little better when you're sending him to
- 43:15Speaker 1: dig out the nickel rather than you see. I mean
- 43:16Speaker 1: all effort, for sure, but when it's a guy who's
- 43:19Speaker 1: like six.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Or five, and I think Josh McDaniels is going to
- 43:22Speaker 3: be happy to have him back too, because it sounds
- 43:24Speaker 3: from what he's saying that he gives him options like
- 43:26Speaker 3: he's kind of his chess piece.
- 43:28Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, absolutely, absolutely bad. I think we've all come
- 43:31Speaker 4: to that.
- 43:31Speaker 6: I think they've really missed them in the run game
- 43:32Speaker 6: for sure.
- 43:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that he's been missed.
- 43:35Speaker 3: So like he can practice this week. Yeah, like there's
- 43:38Speaker 3: no guarantee he's gonna play though.
- 43:40Speaker 4: Poor practice.
- 43:40Speaker 1: No no, And Rabel pointed out Josh Farmer too, not
- 43:43Speaker 1: that he's an impact player.
- 43:44Speaker 4: Yeah, make sure listen.
- 43:45Speaker 3: One thing I will say about the defensive front, and
- 43:49Speaker 3: Rabel has mentioned it, like they it's heavy substitution patterns,
- 43:53Speaker 3: and I think Rabel thinks that that's really helping them.
- 43:56Speaker 3: Guys are coming off fresh, they're coming in. He's putting him,
- 44:00Speaker 3: you know, in or Core Kerra. You always say Core,
- 44:05Speaker 3: it's Core. Yeah, he's putting him in in places to succeed,
- 44:09Speaker 3: you know, like this is what he's good at, this
- 44:12Speaker 3: is the situation. And I remember like guys like Jarvis Green,
- 44:16Speaker 3: those were guys like you'd be put in a spot
- 44:19Speaker 3: that was good for him and he'd succeed. And I
- 44:22Speaker 3: think that's what's happening we're seeing.
- 44:23Speaker 4: I mean they played five guys. They played five guys
- 44:26Speaker 4: on the interior at least, and like Milton, Williams and
- 44:29Speaker 4: barn were still play a ton of snaps, you know,
- 44:31Speaker 4: Tonga and Durden were more like fifty to fifty in
- 44:34Speaker 4: this game. And Durden's been really, really good. And then
- 44:36Speaker 4: like Leonard Taylor kind of like plays like his like
- 44:39Speaker 4: ten or fifteen just to kind of spell the other guys.
- 44:42Speaker 4: But it's really those big four, you know, now Tonga's back,
- 44:44Speaker 4: you know, Barmore, Williams, Dirden, Tonga, Yeah, Ponder, Ponder plays
- 44:49Speaker 4: on the edge.
- 44:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm including the edge in the front.
- 44:52Speaker 4: Well, so that's Chase on and then on the other
- 44:54Speaker 4: side you have Ponder and Jennings and whatever's left of
- 44:57Speaker 4: Harold Landry.
- 44:57Speaker 3: I include the whole liveing, not just the interior.
- 45:00Speaker 4: Well yeah, so I guess then they play eight guyes.
- 45:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I bet I would say your point, Fred, the
- 45:05Speaker 1: the amount of energy that they asked these guys to
- 45:07Speaker 1: play with, I think, you know, you want to have
- 45:08Speaker 1: that rotation. And you know, a guy like Dirten who's
- 45:11Speaker 1: emerged and gotten some extra playing time. I mean, he's
- 45:13Speaker 1: not going to be a superstar, but when you have
- 45:15Speaker 1: some depth that you feel good. I mean, Evan said that.
- 45:17Speaker 1: What I thought is just no matter who you put
- 45:19Speaker 1: in there, they're all kind of playing together. And you know,
- 45:21Speaker 1: they don't have the superstar talent that the Texans had
- 45:24Speaker 1: last week. But when a defense all plays together and
- 45:26Speaker 1: they're all aggressive and there aren't you know, guys getting
- 45:28Speaker 1: pushed back and seams in the front, the sound football defense,
- 45:33Speaker 1: it's fun to watch. And that's what they're playing right now.
- 45:35Speaker 4: I would definitely take the Patriots interior guys over Houston's.
- 45:38Speaker 4: I mean, their edge guys are obviously a lot better,
- 45:41Speaker 4: but I think the Patriots interior defensive line is one
- 45:44Speaker 4: of the best in the league.
- 45:46Speaker 3: Let's go to Rick in Kentucky. What's up, Rick.
- 45:52Speaker 4: Hey?
- 45:52Speaker 10: Rick Hey, guys, I'm I'm pretty pretty much an overly
- 46:02Speaker 10: compassionate guy, and.
- 46:03Speaker 11: There's one person that I'm really happy for with this
- 46:07Speaker 11: year's run, and that's Mike do So because when Mike
- 46:12Speaker 11: joined the crew, things went to the crapper. If I
- 46:19Speaker 11: was would have thought, darn, am I a Mike jinking
- 46:22Speaker 11: this thing? I mean, I mean that the team was
- 46:25Speaker 11: winning games with their eyes closed since the Linked administration
- 46:30Speaker 11: and enter Mike, and then then so I'm I'm Mike,
- 46:33Speaker 11: I'm happy for you. I'm serious, I'm serious, I'm serious,
- 46:40Speaker 11: I'm serious, and I'm going to do something that, uh,
- 46:45Speaker 11: I'm going to be a hypocrite because when Patriot fans
- 46:47Speaker 11: do this it drives me crazy. I'm going to ask you, guys,
- 46:53Speaker 11: who are we rooting for if we win?
- 46:59Speaker 4: Because I'm Seattle rooting for Seattle. I want no part
- 47:04Speaker 4: of that Seahawks team.
- 47:05Speaker 3: No, So okay, so you know we'll play your game?
- 47:09Speaker 4: Thanks?
- 47:10Speaker 3: Who do we want to.
- 47:11Speaker 1: What do we want to watch? I want Seattle?
- 47:13Speaker 6: What do you two want?
- 47:16Speaker 1: I'm torn because I love Seattle.
- 47:19Speaker 4: There's nothing torn about this. I can't believe you said.
- 47:22Speaker 1: From perspective, which is that you want the Patriot a
- 47:25Speaker 1: matchup for the Patriots, and I respect.
- 47:27Speaker 6: That's what I'm saying.
- 47:28Speaker 4: So what would be easy?
- 47:29Speaker 3: I can't believe I would have said, give me the Rams.
- 47:33Speaker 3: But now with Sharbone out, he's their second best offensive player.
- 47:37Speaker 4: No he's not. Yeah, Jon and Kenneth Walker their two
- 47:41Speaker 4: best I think.
- 47:41Speaker 1: I think is I think he's better than Kenneth Walker too.
- 47:44Speaker 1: You think he's better than Kenneth Walker?
- 47:48Speaker 3: You guys watched the value to the team.
- 47:50Speaker 6: I think Sharbon a obviously not watching any of the offense.
- 47:54Speaker 6: If you're afraid of them.
- 47:55Speaker 4: I didn't say I was afraid of them, but I mean, so,
- 47:58Speaker 4: so you think Sharbon is better than ken Walker.
- 48:00Speaker 6: I think they're both running.
- 48:03Speaker 3: Offense lately.
- 48:04Speaker 6: Yes, yes, I think he's given him more more plays. Paul,
- 48:09Speaker 6: you're correct, So I mean it's an opinion, So I
- 48:14Speaker 6: think you're wrong. Has that sound.
- 48:15Speaker 4: Way more dynamic with him out?
- 48:17Speaker 3: I'm a little less, but there's there. Their offense. I mean,
- 48:21Speaker 3: their defense is ferocious. So that's why I'm scared of
- 48:25Speaker 3: the Seahawks Rams. On the other hand, I mean their offense,
- 48:31Speaker 3: the people they have on it, Like, yeah, I'm glad
- 48:35Speaker 3: that our Patriots defense is playing the way it is
- 48:37Speaker 3: right now. Because you're either team, you're gonna need like
- 48:42Speaker 3: herculean effort to be either one of those teams. Puka
- 48:46Speaker 3: Naku is the best offensive player in the league probably,
- 48:50Speaker 3: you know.
- 48:50Speaker 1: I mean last year. I watching the catches he comes
- 48:53Speaker 1: down with consistently.
- 48:54Speaker 4: I get.
- 48:55Speaker 1: I get the point of I think the Seattle's defense
- 48:57Speaker 1: is probably the best unit left in the playoff, So
- 49:00Speaker 1: I don't know if that's a stretch to say that,
- 49:02Speaker 1: and I respect Mike McDonald's on there. I also like
- 49:05Speaker 1: the Seahawks, and I have friends who and so there's
- 49:08Speaker 1: just a you know, there's the nonsense part that you
- 49:10Speaker 1: know these guys don't enjoy. But for me, I think
- 49:14Speaker 1: that's a cool rematch. I know the Rams would be
- 49:16Speaker 1: round three in the super Bowl, so he's kind of
- 49:17Speaker 1: seen that a couple of times. But i'd also think
- 49:20Speaker 1: stam donald in the super Bowl.
- 49:22Speaker 4: Well that's the we'll see, we'll see.
- 49:24Speaker 1: That's why I picked Seattle.
- 49:25Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah, I understand picking Seattle for for that reason.
- 49:30Speaker 4: I just think Seattle in all three phases, has a
- 49:33Speaker 4: chance to do what they just did to San Francisco.
- 49:35Speaker 4: On any given week, I think you're going to be
- 49:38Speaker 4: more in a in a in a fight with the Rams,
- 49:43Speaker 4: like I think that that's a game that probably comes
- 49:45Speaker 4: down to the wire. Seattle, I think has a chance
- 49:49Speaker 4: to bo race pretty much every.
- 49:50Speaker 3: Either either team. The Patriots will be the underdog, yeah
- 49:53Speaker 3: going in. Yeah, and I think it's sobbing rooting for
- 49:56Speaker 3: injuries in the NFC Championship.
- 49:58Speaker 6: As auffs, you don't want to hear this, so Seattle
- 50:02Speaker 6: and the Rams and the look aheadline are favored by
- 50:04Speaker 6: three and a half over the Patriots.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Both teams will be favored by three and halfs I were.
- 50:08Speaker 3: Saying, correct, and the Patriots of the home team.
- 50:10Speaker 4: That's a lot of It's kind of a lot of
- 50:13Speaker 4: respect for the Patriots. I'm surprised that that that's all.
- 50:17Speaker 4: It is, like a little bit Seattle is scare.
- 50:22Speaker 6: Didn't want to talk about what the lines is for
- 50:24Speaker 6: a Super Bowl. The Patriots haven't qualified for you?
- 50:26Speaker 1: Right, Well, I can't look at Drake's performances the last
- 50:30Speaker 1: two games and not think about if you were to
- 50:32Speaker 1: face that Seattle defense, of how much more you would
- 50:35Speaker 1: need out of him, and that that whole offense would
- 50:38Speaker 1: just have to pull together in a way that maybe
- 50:39Speaker 1: we have any.
- 50:42Speaker 6: Maybe I'm wrong, but I look at it exactly the
- 50:44Speaker 6: opposite way I look at Seattle doesn't make you have
- 50:47Speaker 6: to do that. The Rams probably will. The Rams will
- 50:50Speaker 6: probably make you have to keep up. The Rams defense
- 50:53Speaker 6: is not as good as Seattle. No, I don't think
- 50:55Speaker 6: anybody would argue otherwise. Seattle's defense is much better than
- 50:58Speaker 6: the Rams. But the Rams offense probably is going to
- 51:03Speaker 6: make you keep up, and that's what's going to to
- 51:07Speaker 6: me put more pressure on Drake May. Either you can play,
- 51:11Speaker 6: you know, a workman like, you know, keep it out
- 51:14Speaker 6: of harm's way kind of game and have a puncher
- 51:16Speaker 6: his chance against Seattle easily as long as you just
- 51:18Speaker 6: don't ruin the game on your own.
- 51:20Speaker 1: Maybe I'm referring more to it that you can't fumble
- 51:22Speaker 1: the four times no matter.
- 51:23Speaker 4: Which I don't. You know, it was a baseline that.
- 51:27Speaker 6: You know.
- 51:27Speaker 4: It's much like you know, for all the for all
- 51:29Speaker 4: the heat opinions, for.
- 51:30Speaker 6: All the heat I got for the c J. Stroud thing,
- 51:32Speaker 6: and bring it like I was wrong. I couldn't have
- 51:35Speaker 6: been more wrong. I said a million times, if he
- 51:39Speaker 6: fumbles five times and throws a pick again, they're going
- 51:42Speaker 6: to lose.
- 51:43Speaker 8: Now.
- 51:44Speaker 6: I didn't think he would do that again.
- 51:46Speaker 4: I did.
- 51:46Speaker 6: He did so again. If Drake May fumbles four times
- 51:51Speaker 6: and throws another pick, they're going to lose. They're probably
- 51:54Speaker 6: not going to get away with that again. But I
- 51:57Speaker 6: don't think he will because I think he's been too good.
- 51:59Speaker 1: And am I sleeping? Are people sleeping on the Rams defense?
- 52:02Speaker 6: Do?
- 52:02Speaker 4: We don't like the Rams defense? Remember them?
- 52:07Speaker 1: But it's not.
- 52:11Speaker 6: The secondary. Yeah kind of thinking different. Yeah Turner, Yeah,
- 52:21Speaker 6: guy from Everett, the rookie from Everett, Josiah Stewart's been
- 52:25Speaker 6: pretty good for them.
- 52:26Speaker 3: Yeah, Dance Daytona. What's up Dan?
- 52:30Speaker 12: Can you guys hear me?
- 52:31Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 52:31Speaker 12: Yeah, Hey, So that game was amazing. I ain't gonna lie.
- 52:36Speaker 12: Besides all the obviously the turnervers by Drake, I was
- 52:39Speaker 12: really shocked to see that.
- 52:40Speaker 11: Again.
- 52:40Speaker 12: I thought he would would have cleaned it up coming
- 52:43Speaker 12: off the Chargers, but it's kind of as I expected.
- 52:47Speaker 10: Houston.
- 52:48Speaker 12: That was a Vauntage defense Like that was crazy, like
- 52:51Speaker 12: seeing Drake under the rest and then seeing Booty and
- 52:56Speaker 12: and the digs making the catches. But to your point,
- 52:59Speaker 12: Paul and Evan and you've fred, I would not be
- 53:04Speaker 12: scared of either team's defense. The reason I say that
- 53:08Speaker 12: is because, yeah, Seattle does have a great defense. Rams
- 53:13Speaker 12: have a decent defense too. But if we're able to
- 53:16Speaker 12: play like we've been playing these last two games, we
- 53:19Speaker 12: you know it shut All these national media is up.
- 53:22Speaker 12: Like I don't know if you saw the posts from
- 53:24Speaker 12: ESPN they posted all of them picking against the Patriots.
- 53:28Speaker 1: I hadn't seen it.
- 53:30Speaker 12: Yeah, they posted that makes that makes Drake May and
- 53:35Speaker 12: Mike Rabele and the Patriots look good if if they
- 53:37Speaker 12: can show out comes February eighth, and even in against Denver.
- 53:42Speaker 12: So that's all I have to say. But I think
- 53:44Speaker 12: the Patriots could take either or. And everybody being scared
- 53:47Speaker 12: of the Sea Hawks or the Rams. I think it's ridiculous.
- 53:49Speaker 12: It's professional football.
- 53:51Speaker 6: Okay, thanks Dan Israel, I'll defend you, Fred. I don't
- 53:55Speaker 6: think people are saying they're scared, no, scre It's like, which,
- 53:59Speaker 6: you know, I think there's a reasonable.
- 54:00Speaker 3: I am scared. The team isn't scared.
- 54:02Speaker 6: No. But I don't even think like most people that
- 54:04Speaker 6: talk about this stuff when they say, like I would,
- 54:07Speaker 6: you know, I would rather play the Rams than the Seahawks,
- 54:09Speaker 6: or the Seahawks than the Rams. It's not like, oh,
- 54:11Speaker 6: I'm afraid of playing the other one. I'm you know.
- 54:15Speaker 6: And again, like the offensive performances in these two games
- 54:20Speaker 6: isn't probably going to be good enough, but they need
- 54:23Speaker 6: to play better offense.
- 54:24Speaker 3: As Christians in la Hey Christian.
- 54:29Speaker 2: Hey, you guys, Hey, you guys, hey, you guys.
- 54:31Speaker 10: You know what I am.
- 54:32Speaker 2: I'm a little bit angry today for a couple of reasons.
- 54:35Speaker 2: One is the national media and this dialogue, especially led
- 54:39Speaker 2: by this Kyle Brandt on.
- 54:41Speaker 10: Good Morning Football.
- 54:41Speaker 1: Whatever it is, what's he doing?
- 54:43Speaker 2: They have this the dialogue that the Patriots might be
- 54:46Speaker 2: the first team to make it to the super Bowl
- 54:48Speaker 2: without having played anybody or without having played a complete team.
- 54:52Speaker 2: And if we win the super Bowl, we should have
- 54:54Speaker 2: an asterbisk next to our name.
- 54:56Speaker 4: Who said that? No one said they should have an asterisk.
- 54:59Speaker 2: Kyle, Kyle Brent said that this morning.
- 55:03Speaker 6: Mike, that's Mike's friend, He'll he'll talk to him.
- 55:05Speaker 3: Kyle brand said that the Patriots should have an asterisk
- 55:08Speaker 3: next to their.
- 55:09Speaker 4: He said those exact words.
- 55:10Speaker 3: Why, well, why did he say that?
- 55:13Speaker 2: Because we haven't played a complete team yet in the playoffs.
- 55:18Speaker 4: That's our fault, that seems.
- 55:21Speaker 3: I thought going in the charges were a pretty well
- 55:23Speaker 3: rounded team, their offensive just.
- 55:25Speaker 13: Staying okay, they had the two linemen out right, yeah,
- 55:29Speaker 13: and then with the textives they had their guys out
- 55:32Speaker 13: and now Jared's didn't going to be out that that's
- 55:35Speaker 13: not something that.
- 55:36Speaker 2: We that we chose as a team. So why why
- 55:38Speaker 2: should he say that, Well we win, it should be
- 55:41Speaker 2: asked because we haven't played a complete team.
- 55:44Speaker 3: Right.
- 55:45Speaker 6: I don't you have to call him and ask him.
- 55:46Speaker 3: I guess, yeah, Kyle br I thought he was a
- 55:48Speaker 3: nice guy. He's not nice anymore.
- 55:50Speaker 4: It's not nice anymore.
- 55:51Speaker 3: In my book, he's on our list. Go get them,
- 55:54Speaker 3: Patriots fans.
- 55:56Speaker 6: You're right, Fred, We're back and you guys are Yeah.
- 56:00Speaker 6: It doesn't mean what other people's opinions. When other people
- 56:04Speaker 6: have opinions that are different than mine, they they don't
- 56:07Speaker 6: really piss me off.
- 56:10Speaker 3: Disrespect though, disrespect Christian.
- 56:14Speaker 6: What difference does it make if you can control it
- 56:16Speaker 6: that he thinks that they haven't really been like pressed
- 56:19Speaker 6: against a really well rounded team, Like what what? What
- 56:23Speaker 6: if that's his opinion, what does it have to do
- 56:25Speaker 6: with what the Patriots can control?
- 56:26Speaker 4: Fair and not. They're going to have to I mean,
- 56:29Speaker 4: they're gonna have to finish it, finish it, like they're
- 56:31Speaker 4: gonna have to win the super Bowl to shut all
- 56:32Speaker 4: these people up.
- 56:33Speaker 6: Even so, just for argument's sake, if the Patriots were
- 56:36Speaker 6: to were to win against Denver, and that's all anybody's
- 56:39Speaker 6: talking about, like you should you not go to the
- 56:42Speaker 6: super Bowl?
- 56:43Speaker 1: Like who cares? Who cares?
- 56:46Speaker 2: I've already think to the super Bowl. But you know
- 56:49Speaker 2: the fact that the national you're going.
- 56:51Speaker 1: To scold him to this morning.
- 56:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't worry about it, Christian.
- 56:57Speaker 6: That's the very essence of him.
- 56:59Speaker 3: We all we got, we all we need, we don't
- 57:02Speaker 3: need them. Thanks, thanks for the call.

- 59:10Speaker 4: and if there's any kind of.
- 59:12Speaker 2: Different way you need to prepare them given the altitude.
- 59:16Speaker 16: Other than going out there last Thursday, which wouldn't have
- 59:20Speaker 16: been an ideal situation considering we had to play last night.
- 59:24Speaker 16: But you know, I think just physiologically, you have to
- 59:27Speaker 16: be at altitude for for longer than a day or
- 59:30Speaker 16: two or three. I mean, it takes it takes time

- 59:59Speaker 16: the those aren't decisions that we've made yet.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: You elaborate some more on light.
- 1:00:03Speaker 17: It's the important team to get into the funnel after
- 1:00:05Speaker 17: the game and a great players as that come off
- 1:00:07Speaker 17: the fields.
- 1:00:09Speaker 16: Yeah, I've done this since twenty and eighteen. I just
- 1:00:13Speaker 16: you know, these guys, this is a tough game. It's
- 1:00:15Speaker 16: a physical game. It's uh, you know, they're beat up,
- 1:00:21Speaker 16: they're banged up, and I want to thank them. It's
- 1:00:25Speaker 16: a good opportunity in order to see him. May not
- 1:00:29Speaker 16: have the opportunity to go around to see each and
- 1:00:31Speaker 16: every one of them after the game, So I feel
- 1:00:34Speaker 16: like that's a good chance to to thank them and
- 1:00:37Speaker 16: be appreciative of their efforts, whether we win or lose.
- 1:00:43Speaker 9: Coach yesterday Drake by oas Here said, he's still getting
- 1:00:46Speaker 9: adjusted to your sudecast as a coach.
- 1:00:50Speaker 8: Said, he still your side chasm.
- 1:00:56Speaker 18: How do you cite that balance between being the guy
- 1:01:00Speaker 18: that place get proached but also making sure.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: You're still act.
- 1:01:07Speaker 16: Yeah, I mean I try to be as approachable as possible.
- 1:01:09Speaker 16: I try to, you know, I think the biggest thing
- 1:01:12Speaker 16: is getting out of your office. You know, whether the
- 1:01:15Speaker 16: door to your office is always open still doesn't mean
- 1:01:17Speaker 16: they want to come in and.
- 1:01:18Speaker 8: Sit down and talk.
- 1:01:20Speaker 16: So trying to find places and meet them where they're at,
- 1:01:24Speaker 16: being meeting rooms.
- 1:01:26Speaker 8: Being a cafeteria, be in the weight room, places like that.
- 1:01:30Speaker 17: Like you've talked about him before, but where have you
- 1:01:32Speaker 17: seen Kaisha Booney develop most this year?
- 1:01:36Speaker 10: Uh?
- 1:01:37Speaker 8: Probably just his versatility.
- 1:01:38Speaker 16: I think he you know, he's an easy learner, could
- 1:01:41Speaker 16: play a bunch of different spots if we asked him to.
- 1:01:46Speaker 16: But also, you know, I wasn't around Kishon before this year, right,
- 1:01:52Speaker 16: so I don't have anything to go off of.
- 1:01:54Speaker 8: I just know that he's.
- 1:01:55Speaker 16: Very unselfish, that he makes the most of his opportunities,
- 1:01:59Speaker 16: seems to be and has been highly competitive player, doesn't
- 1:02:05Speaker 16: say a whole lot and does his work, has always been.
- 1:02:09Speaker 8: Accountable, and there is.
- 1:02:12Speaker 16: Where he needs to be when he needs to be there,
- 1:02:14Speaker 16: and you notice his actions. You don't necessarily hear him,
- 1:02:19Speaker 16: and that's just his personality, but you could certainly see
- 1:02:23Speaker 16: that his identity when he plays is exactly what we
- 1:02:26Speaker 16: want with kind of key Sean.
- 1:02:28Speaker 17: He obviously, like you said, you never worked with when
- 1:02:31Speaker 17: you join a team and those players we've been there before.
- 1:02:34Speaker 17: How do you balance having an open mind about that
- 1:02:36Speaker 17: player but also getting as much information about him as
- 1:02:40Speaker 17: possible from people who were with him the past few years.
- 1:02:43Speaker 16: Yeah, I mean I think we tried to, you know,
- 1:02:46Speaker 16: listen to people that had been around some of the
- 1:02:48Speaker 16: players that we had on the roster getting here. But
- 1:02:51Speaker 16: then it's usually best to just kind of go by
- 1:02:54Speaker 16: what you see and what you experience as opposed to
- 1:02:58Speaker 16: what you hear sent fourth.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: Down to play early in the game, that touchdown to Pop.
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: What makes him a trustworthy player in a situation like that.
- 1:03:07Speaker 16: Yere, You know, I think that that just goes back
- 1:03:11Speaker 16: to training camp, goes back to the OTAs Pop. He
- 1:03:14Speaker 16: has really done a nice job and being ready to go.
- 1:03:17Speaker 16: And I know that like every other receiver, I wish
- 1:03:20Speaker 16: that they had more snaps, and they wish they had
- 1:03:22Speaker 16: more targets, and you know, by taking advantage of the
- 1:03:26Speaker 16: ones that he gets, which he has done, you know,
- 1:03:29Speaker 16: we have to continue to find ways to get him
- 1:03:30Speaker 16: to football.
- 1:03:31Speaker 8: And have them help us.
- 1:03:33Speaker 16: So I think that that's just the confidence that's been
- 1:03:35Speaker 16: built up through through training camp, in the off season.
- 1:03:38Speaker 10: Mark this morning on radio, you mentioned that you gets
- 1:03:41Speaker 10: an AUSSM work on.
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: Jared said, I'm just curious what you saw from him
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: as a quarterback when you were doing that work.
- 1:03:48Speaker 16: Well, I guess it was kind of ironic, you know,
- 1:03:50Speaker 16: just speaking with his agent, they're like, well, if you
- 1:03:52Speaker 16: don't want you're starting to get hurt hired signed jareded
- 1:03:55Speaker 16: because that was.
- 1:03:57Speaker 8: Before you know, yesterday or too days ago.
- 1:04:02Speaker 16: You know, just going back to when Josh had him
- 1:04:04Speaker 16: and playing against that. I just think he sees things
- 1:04:07Speaker 16: really well. I think he's athletic enough to extend. Like
- 1:04:09Speaker 16: we talk about a lot of quarterbacks, the accuracy. I
- 1:04:13Speaker 16: think the decision making is really decisive in the games
- 1:04:16Speaker 16: that that we went back and watched. And this is
- 1:04:19Speaker 16: even going back to when I was in Tennessee as well.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: Like your t that's a really good road record.
- 1:04:26Speaker 18: It seems like the guys like going out on the road.
- 1:04:28Speaker 15: How do you feel they do and prepare in a
- 1:04:32Speaker 15: type of challenge in a hostile environment.
- 1:04:36Speaker 16: And I just think that they really focus in on
- 1:04:39Speaker 16: on the road environment, like you said, of starting you
- 1:04:41Speaker 16: know well and not beating ourselves and trying to be
- 1:04:43Speaker 16: good at the line of scrimmage and the communication offensively
- 1:04:47Speaker 16: that's required to make sure that everybody's on the same
- 1:04:49Speaker 16: page and that the snap count is good and that
- 1:04:52Speaker 16: guys are moving when they're supposed to be moving. I
- 1:04:58Speaker 16: think we've x cut it in some critical situations when
- 1:05:02Speaker 16: we've needed to on the road, and those are things
- 1:05:04Speaker 16: that are important.
- 1:05:05Speaker 8: Why has it seem been so good this year at
- 1:05:09Speaker 8: seizing momentum and maintaining because you know what football is.
- 1:05:12Speaker 8: On basketball, there's no ten o runs. When you guys
- 1:05:14Speaker 8: have been able to get momentum, you've been able to
- 1:05:16Speaker 8: keep it on your sideline. Who's the keep into you
- 1:05:19Speaker 8: being able to do that?
- 1:05:20Speaker 16: I think the guys don't get too high or too low.
- 1:05:22Speaker 16: I mean, hopefully we can understand that we can feed
- 1:05:25Speaker 16: off each other but also pick each other up. You know,
- 1:05:30Speaker 16: the defense has been doing that a little bit lately,
- 1:05:32Speaker 16: and we have to do a better job of not
- 1:05:35Speaker 16: making it be a sudden change, but making it be
- 1:05:38Speaker 16: complimentary and when the offense is rolling, getting the ball
- 1:05:41Speaker 16: back to them quickly. But also if the situation arises
- 1:05:45Speaker 16: that we have to go out there and play defense
- 1:05:47Speaker 16: you know in a you know, short notice, that we're
- 1:05:50Speaker 16: able to do that as well, and then offensively we
- 1:05:53Speaker 16: can strength some drives together and the special teams continue
- 1:05:57Speaker 16: to try to set the table.
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: Mike, You've had to face two of the better defenses
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: in the playoffs in the.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: Chargers and Pisons.
- 1:06:06Speaker 10: Where do you fit Denvers defense in that?
- 1:06:09Speaker 16: Well, then again they'll be the best defense and we've
- 1:06:12Speaker 16: played to date because it's the next one, I mean,
- 1:06:14Speaker 16: that's just how this goes.
- 1:06:16Speaker 8: Or playing a lot of confidence.
- 1:06:18Speaker 16: They're good on the perimeter, we're really good up front
- 1:06:22Speaker 16: and the athleticism, their size, they put a lot of
- 1:06:25Speaker 16: pressure on you. So you know, that's just how this
- 1:06:28Speaker 16: thing goes. Each and every week they get tougher.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: Guy John's question, is keeping your composure of something you
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: preach and maybe rep in practice or is that more
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: about the guys that.
- 1:06:36Speaker 16: You have to Well, I mean, I think we try
- 1:06:38Speaker 16: to preach it. I mean we try to take guys
- 1:06:40Speaker 16: to the line. I mean, we can't finish longer than
- 1:06:42Speaker 16: the guy with the ball and play full tilt to
- 1:06:43Speaker 16: the tackle, and you know, we try to take them
- 1:06:45Speaker 16: to the edge and ask them to pull off and
- 1:06:49Speaker 16: and not do anything after the whistle and not be
- 1:06:52Speaker 16: the second guy in and make great decisions.
- 1:06:54Speaker 8: And sometimes that's hard. This is an emotional game.
- 1:06:56Speaker 16: But for the most part, I think we've made great
- 1:06:58Speaker 16: decisions and has been able to do that and not
- 1:07:03Speaker 16: do anything.
- 1:07:03Speaker 8: That that would affect the team after the whistle.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: And now great moments in.
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: History. We don't know where Eric is. We're not sure.
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: We're not sure where Eric is, but he's not on
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: the show today.
- 1:07:21Speaker 9: I really want to know if he knows who the
- 1:07:23Speaker 9: Patriots new quarterback is.
- 1:07:24Speaker 6: I think that's fascinating. I'm so with Megan on that.
- 1:07:27Speaker 6: I think there's at least a fifty to fifty shot
- 1:07:29Speaker 6: that he does not.
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: He hasn't heard yet. Eric's vacations are kind of like
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: the Patriots reported to camp for the public, we know,
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: like camp starts on a certain day, but for the team,
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: like there's a day before that for conditioning, and then
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: there's a day that rookie injured. Godation, Like it's not
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: just the days he's on the vacation, it's like he
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: needs a day in the front end to get ready,
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: he needs a day in the back end to reacclimate.
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: So it's a lot. It's always longer than you think
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: it is.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: It's got to get all his sweaters. Yeah, that's another
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: great moment.
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: All right back here on Patriots Unfiltered eight five to
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: five pats five hundred podcasts at Patriots dot com as
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: the email address Mark and fall River Rights. And first,
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: I'd like to express my condolences to Evan. We know
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: his feelings on a team making the conference championship game
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: and having to pick at the end of the first
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: round for the next draft. Sorry, v maybe next year
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: will be better.
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: Like that now, he doesn't like it.
- 1:08:29Speaker 6: I at least laugh when they make fun of me
- 1:08:30Speaker 6: for saying CJ. Strod is good.
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: That was good. Second, I know it's been talked about extensively,
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: but how much of a profit does Mike Rabel look
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: like when the very first thing I remember him saying
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: this year is we're going to take advantage of bad football.
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: This was goal number one, and it has defined their season.
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: I wonder if Rabel has the same aura that was
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: around Belichick when it comes to game planning, with players
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: saying we felt like we knew what was coming. That
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: could be helpful in attracting good players, and I think
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: Rabel has shown that this year. You guys heard players mention.
- 1:09:01Speaker 4: That a little bit. I think that it's more about
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: motivation with him than it is inspiration.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: Yeah, sure, motivate, you're gonna inspire it whatever.
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: It's more about inspira, is it inspira?
- 1:09:14Speaker 14: Like?
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: You know, after the game on Sunday, not that they're
- 1:09:18Speaker 4: not prepared and all that stuff, but after the game
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: on Sunday, all the players kept talking about how much
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: of Rabel was telling them, well, there's only one good
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: defense that's going to be out there on Sunday and
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: it belongs to Houston, you know, like like little things
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: like that just to kind of like get the defense
- 1:09:36Speaker 4: motivated or inspired or whatever the hell term he uses.
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: And it's touff, you know, Like I think that his
- 1:09:42Speaker 4: days as a as a player help him sort of
- 1:09:45Speaker 4: know what buttons to push in that regard, Whereas I
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: think Bill got people confident because of how prepared they were,
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: you know, And I think that there's maybe a little
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: bit of a difference there. Not again not saying that
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: they're not prepared now, but it's just he relates to
- 1:09:59Speaker 4: them a little bit more. I think on on the
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: human level. I noticed that.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: But I would imagine that Brabel has took some stuff
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: from Belichick.
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: I think pare the sort of uh details of the
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: things they can't control, whether altitude next week, you know,
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: those types of things like he was asked yesterday about
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: the altitude and he already knew how long it would
- 1:10:24Speaker 4: take to acclimate to altitude, so they already had researched
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: all of that and whether or not going out early
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: was going to be worth it or not. That's very Belichick, right,
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: like that that they know those kinds of like little
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: scientific details.
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I clocked one thing to clocked it, noticed it tracked.
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: Brabel said, I think might have been his postgame press
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: conference talking about putting him in pads last week and
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: how the players embraced that, and you know, it seemed
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: a little bit more like putting those guys in pads
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: was like a feeling out process and selling it on them,
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: where I feel like maybe with Bill it was like,
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: weren't pats today? Shut the f up?
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: You know, of course, what do you think this is
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: the physical gaming? Tyler and Georgia. With the turnover fest
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: that was this past Sunday, I don't think I've ever
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: watched a game that felt so never in doubt and
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: constantly in doubt at the same time. Fortunately, I have
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: zero concerns about this upcoming Sunday because there is absolutely
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: no way the NFL will allow the Broncos to win.
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: The Logistics of having to move the Super Bowl to
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: Denver at the last minute would be a night.
- 1:11:30Speaker 4: I didn't know which way that was good, Tyler.
- 1:11:33Speaker 6: It was very well done, but it could have gone
- 1:11:35Speaker 6: a different way. Yeah, I mean, there's no way the
- 1:11:37Speaker 6: NFL is going to let Jared's Broncos go and have
- 1:11:40Speaker 6: to have Jared Stidham play in the Super Bowl. I
- 1:11:42Speaker 6: thought he was going yeah, But I like his little
- 1:11:43Speaker 6: twist one that that was well done, playing.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: Into the front of it all. Yeah, you've got to
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: go to Denver. You're gonna do anything any traditions there.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: You've been there, what a hundred times? Probably?
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I've been. We've been there a lot. We're going
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: to get in late in the afternoon. There's a street
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: I like to walk down. It's got some nice shops.
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: If I have time, you know, yeah, pick something up.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:12:05Speaker 6: I also liked his point about the game, like I
- 1:12:09Speaker 6: felt the same way. Doubt it was never in doubt,
- 1:12:13Speaker 6: and then they would do something dumb to put it
- 1:12:15Speaker 6: right back in doubt, right, you know right.
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: And then the Patriot would take it another takeaway and
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: it's not that back now.
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: And the only way that that they could lose was
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: den Houston scoring on defense.
- 1:12:26Speaker 6: Right, and the Patriots kept giving them chances to score
- 1:12:28Speaker 6: on defense.
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: But I just had never a doubt that the Patriots defense,
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: the Patriots defense was not going to give up a
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: thirty two yard bomb to one of the Texans receivers.
- 1:12:38Speaker 4: I never thought that, No, but I fumble six was
- 1:12:41Speaker 4: definitely in play.
- 1:12:42Speaker 6: That would like, at the half, it's twenty one to ten.
- 1:12:46Speaker 6: I didn't think the game was in doubt at all,
- 1:12:48Speaker 6: to be honest, I mean I wouldn't say like full nod,
- 1:12:51Speaker 6: but like kind of what Evan said, like just don't
- 1:12:54Speaker 6: do anything stupid. And then you go out and you
- 1:12:56Speaker 6: do something stupid, you know, and it's twenty one thirteen
- 1:12:59Speaker 6: and they have a chance to go in and then
- 1:13:01Speaker 6: Woody Marx fumbles it right back and you're like, yeah,
- 1:13:04Speaker 6: it was twenty one sixteen in the fourth quarter and
- 1:13:07Speaker 6: the game technically was hanging in the balance. I never
- 1:13:10Speaker 6: really felt like it was in the balance, Yeah, because
- 1:13:13Speaker 6: I didn't think that Houston was going to be able
- 1:13:15Speaker 6: to put together scoring drives.
- 1:13:17Speaker 4: One thing I want to give Patriots fans some kudos
- 1:13:19Speaker 4: for a lot of people on Paul shows in particular,
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: I like to say that this crowd doesn't bring it.
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: And I thought that both playoff games I thought had
- 1:13:32Speaker 4: two really good crowds. I thought it was loud here.
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: I thought that they got the Texans to jump fall
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: start a couple of times. I thought that this was
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: as loud as I've heard it here in quite a
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: bit of time, and it was noticeable that I thought
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: the crowd was into it, and I thought it was
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: I'm not going to go as far as say this
- 1:13:53Speaker 4: is now Arrowhead or Seattle or anything like that, but
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: I didn't think that it was no advance of playing
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: these games at home, and I thought that the crowd
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: did its part.
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: It's the more remarkable turnarounds of the season is just
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: how bad at home they've been over the first you know,
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: last couple of years. And even that initial game los
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: into the Raiders and then lose into the Steelers. You know,
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: you lose two home games in the first three weeks
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: and then to win two playoff games. Yeah, pretty impressive.
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: I remember saying like, we got to get the home
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: field advantage back, and they're winning games back here again.
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: It's good.
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: Let's go to Pensacola. Willie. What's up, Willie? I can't
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: see the dog, Willie. Pensacola completely blocked out? No, okay, goodbye, Willie.
- 1:14:38Speaker 18: What do you think about them on ticket Master blocking
- 1:14:41Speaker 18: New England fans from buying tickets to the game.
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: Oh, I saw that. I think that's weak. Yeah, I
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: mean the fact that they have tickets available is weak,
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: but that they're not allowing people outside of those zip
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: codes to buy them. You know, whatever, you know, if
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: that's what you feel you have to do. Okay, that's
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: that's how I got around at No. Six with the
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: charge as they did the same thing. But I was
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: in California resident at the time, so I was able
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: to get those things. But you know, you've got tickets available.
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: I guess I don't know.
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: To go around.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: We'll talk about it. Look elsewhere.
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: Give me an email, Christian Chris with a T, I
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: A N.
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: What's up?
- 1:15:18Speaker 9: This is incredible. You know, just uh got to keep
- 1:15:22Speaker 9: it going. Can't stop now. Victims of their own success. Man,
- 1:15:25Speaker 9: we got to take this thing all the way. This
- 1:15:28Speaker 9: is fantastic and I just you know, I wanted to
- 1:15:31Speaker 9: call it just to really to thank ownership. We're here
- 1:15:35Speaker 9: because of Robert, and Robert made a quick decision to
- 1:15:39Speaker 9: move on last year, made a significant financial commitment. Yeah,
- 1:15:44Speaker 9: he's got the money, but a lot of owners woudn't
- 1:15:46Speaker 9: want to spend the money to do what he had
- 1:15:47Speaker 9: to do to pay off. But we had to payoff
- 1:15:50Speaker 9: to get off the coach and staff and bring in
- 1:15:52Speaker 9: Braves and then completely go out and dominate the free
- 1:15:56Speaker 9: agent market and hit a home run with that, and
- 1:15:59Speaker 9: we're here because of ownership. We really are, Like, I'm
- 1:16:02Speaker 9: so thankful to have him. We're so lucky to get Drake,
- 1:16:06Speaker 9: We're so lucky that Rabel was available. Like you look
- 1:16:09Speaker 9: at the past few weeks since the season has ended,
- 1:16:11Speaker 9: and it's been absolute chaos across the league, and I
- 1:16:16Speaker 9: just every week it's something, you know, like McDermott yesterday,
- 1:16:19Speaker 9: you know, last week, Harbaughs, it's and it's you know,
- 1:16:22Speaker 9: you just did's such a whirlwind and yeah, he's not perfect,
- 1:16:26Speaker 9: and it's but it's up six years this, you know
- 1:16:29Speaker 9: this Brady left. But this is fun. Man. I haven't
- 1:16:32Speaker 9: had this much fun in a long time. And just
- 1:16:35Speaker 9: so grateful and just got to keep it going. Got
- 1:16:38Speaker 9: to keep it going. Can't stop now, got to keep
- 1:16:40Speaker 9: it going.
- 1:16:41Speaker 3: All right, Thanks graz All right, I mean we talked
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: about it the other night. Every decision it seems they
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: made in the off season was the right one, starting
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: with the decision to move on from Mayo and on
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: to Rabel, and then Rabel and then bringing in McDaniels
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: and Stretch and you know, all these people, all the
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: free agents.
- 1:17:01Speaker 4: The agency class is unbelievable.
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: You know, just everything they've done turned to gold. Yeah,
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: and that's rare.
- 1:17:09Speaker 4: That is rare to hit on, especially to hit on
- 1:17:11Speaker 4: this many free agents and have them all be good.
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: Like if we go back to the twenty twenty one
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: spending spree, like Johnny Smith was not a good signing,
- 1:17:20Speaker 4: Nelson al was a pretty average signing, Jalen mill is
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: pretty average, you know, and some of.
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: Them worked out Henry with signing and.
- 1:17:28Speaker 6: You know, yeah, that was a good class too, But
- 1:17:30Speaker 6: this one has been almost perfect.
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean yeah, I mean even down to like
- 1:17:34Speaker 4: you know, the Tongas and you know, those types of
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: guys that weren't around, you know, big money expenditures. They've
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: hit on the big ticket items with Millon Williams, they've
- 1:17:45Speaker 4: hit on the small ticket items with guys like Tonga
- 1:17:48Speaker 4: and you know, Garrett Bradberry having a bounce back year.
- 1:17:51Speaker 4: They signed Morgan Moses, who was been the best tackle
- 1:17:56Speaker 4: from that free agency class.
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: The rivalries uniform, I would add in.
- 1:17:59Speaker 4: There great same same thing.
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: Even some of the holdover players like Kashawan Boudi career year,
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: Jalen Hawkins career year, who to keep Who did.
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: Not Chase On? Chase On spend the best player on
- 1:18:12Speaker 4: defense the first two weeks of the play.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: He priced is he is he going bye bye? Is
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: he getting Is he making himself enough money in this playoff? That?
- 1:18:18Speaker 4: Because you look at what Landry did.
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: Landry played eleven snaps and I already felt like edge
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: was a huge knee going into this offseason. And now
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: you're looking at you really might need to sign too.
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: I don't think they're going to spend a ton of
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: money this offseason, but if there's one spot to invest,
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: I would definitely look at the edge spot. And I
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: would definitely look at the safety spot. And I wonder what,
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: you know, what kind of market Chase was going to have,
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: and I wonder what kind of market Jalen Hawkins is
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: going to happen.
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: I think it's a question of a Chase On, like,
- 1:18:44Speaker 4: I guess, is this now who he's going to be?
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: I mean, he's the first round pick, so the talent
- 1:18:50Speaker 4: was in there. Did Mike Rabold?
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: Is he just and this defense is good for him?
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: Right?
- 1:18:55Speaker 4: It's a great scheme fit. Obviously Rabel is an outside linebacker.
- 1:18:59Speaker 4: You know, does he give him coaching that's pushed him
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: over the edge because this was always in there. I
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: mean it was it was as a prospect. It's why
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: he went twentieth overall in his draft. So is this
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: who he is now? Or is he hot at the
- 1:19:13Speaker 4: right time?
- 1:19:13Speaker 10: Right?
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: You know?
- 1:19:14Speaker 4: And you have to be careful by that. Now, Milton
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: Williams did was last year.
- 1:19:18Speaker 6: Mike's point on that, I agree with you, guys. That's
- 1:19:21Speaker 6: going to be important. Does what he's doing in the playoffs,
- 1:19:23Speaker 6: because I think you can make an argument that these
- 1:19:26Speaker 6: have been his two best games. That's when everybody's watching, right,
- 1:19:30Speaker 6: So has that priced him out? You know what I mean?
- 1:19:33Speaker 6: You know, not that he's had a bad year. I
- 1:19:34Speaker 6: think he's had a really solid year, but I think
- 1:19:36Speaker 6: he's been really really good in these two playoffs. And
- 1:19:39Speaker 6: then someone might look at that and say, we got
- 1:19:42Speaker 6: to get that guy.
- 1:19:42Speaker 9: Yep.
- 1:19:43Speaker 4: Let's see what he does against Garrett Bulls, you know,
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: like going up against Ursery and whatever was that tackle
- 1:19:48Speaker 4: for the Chargers like that?
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: That's not exactly disrespectful.
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: But if you do this against the first team all
- 1:19:54Speaker 4: pro on Sunday in the I don't care who's that quarterback?
- 1:19:57Speaker 4: Like if he's beaten bulls that Kyle Brant Junion then uh,
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: then you know that that's gonna go a long way.
- 1:20:04Speaker 4: And so we'll see. But I think that he's back.
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: I think that that's a guy that I would probably
- 1:20:09Speaker 4: look to keep and then probably draft a young edge
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: to pair with him to try to Yeah, you know, groom.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: Let Jennings and Ponder continue to fill out the desk.
- 1:20:19Speaker 4: Or the third and fourth guy, and yeah.
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: I just I think we get it to this end
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: of the season. It's it could be kind of like
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: the hockey thing where and Harry later had knee surgery too,
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: Like I just am waiting to hear what that actually was,
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: right and.
- 1:20:31Speaker 6: Dealing with So speaking of injuries that we may not
- 1:20:34Speaker 6: know the extent of or not, will Campbell anyone concerned
- 1:20:41Speaker 6: that maybe he's not healthy?
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: Oh, I hadn't thought about it.
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: I had thought about it. It's it's something that you
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: have to keep in the back of your mind because
- 1:20:48Speaker 4: you can't just rip the guy if he's playing on
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: one leg. Like who knows.
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: But I think the problem is is that against like
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: really good edge rushers, these are the same problems he
- 1:20:59Speaker 4: was having when he was healthy.
- 1:21:01Speaker 6: So I just bring it up. I'm not necessarily weighing
- 1:21:05Speaker 6: in either way. I'm doing that. I want to give him.
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: I want to give him the grace I do. But
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: you know, all season long, when he's played, you know,
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: that next level up in competition, he's had some of
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: the same issues, especially high side rushers, like guys getting
- 1:21:22Speaker 4: you know, around his edge with the speed and the
- 1:21:25Speaker 4: length and that ability. So I just I wish I
- 1:21:29Speaker 4: could say that that it was all that, but it's
- 1:21:31Speaker 4: kind of the same stuff that's been plaguing him.
- 1:21:34Speaker 6: Fighting to protect them with everything in our.
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: Daft got that right. Paul in the Colony wants to know.
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: Does evens still think it's too soon to play in
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: the AC Championship game? Are we setting the franchise back
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: for years to come? Like the Commanders did.
- 1:21:47Speaker 4: I really like the track of this see now, that
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: was a better one than the draft one, because what
- 1:21:52Speaker 4: people don't understand about the draft is when they're picking
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: thirtieth is my time to shine because you know who
- 1:21:58Speaker 4: the first five guys are in the draft, but you're
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: not going to know who is going to be drafted.
- 1:22:02Speaker 4: You know, once we get out of the first round,
- 1:22:05Speaker 4: most people unless you're a nerd like me, or you know,
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: no a couple names here or there. This is the
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: type of draft where people like barth or this is
- 1:22:14Speaker 4: where you need him. Don't need him to tell you
- 1:22:15Speaker 4: to draft Rake May and Will Campbell.
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: You know, Jordan thinks that the resemblance between the twenty
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: five Patriots and the one Patriots is starting to get weird.
- 1:22:25Speaker 4: A team led by a new coach.
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: Goes on a magical run to the playoffs with the
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: help of a young, up and coming quarterback, with the
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: help of a veteran defense dominating opponents. In the playoffs,
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: they win against an opponent in a snow game who
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: many in the media thought they lose to. Their next
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: opponent is an AFC rival who they historically have issues
- 1:22:42Speaker 3: beating away from home, and their potentially potential Super Bowl
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: opponent a Veterans Rams team who boasts the top offense
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: in the league, led by an experienced quarterback with two
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: top wide receivers. All the media will pick the Rams
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: and of course be wrong when the Patriots defeat them
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: to win May and Vrabel's first ring. Just like Radian,
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: Belichick didn't know one, Do I smell another dynasty?
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a fair point.
- 1:23:06Speaker 6: I don't see a lot of similarities from for one,
- 1:23:10Speaker 6: in really year, I didn't say I didn't see any.
- 1:23:14Speaker 6: I mean he just he just named like a handful
- 1:23:16Speaker 6: of that or similar but I don't I don't really
- 1:23:20Speaker 6: see a lot of Yeah, I think it's been a
- 1:23:23Speaker 6: different I mean, this has basically been an offensive driven
- 1:23:27Speaker 6: team with a quarterback who's leading the way as opposed
- 1:23:31Speaker 6: to a quarterback who just kind of came in and
- 1:23:33Speaker 6: was a game manager at the time. As much as
- 1:23:36Speaker 6: I have all the respect for Brady, he was kind
- 1:23:38Speaker 6: of leaning.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: On defense did at times when he had to.
- 1:23:40Speaker 6: He was great in the clutch. Again, another lack of
- 1:23:43Speaker 6: a similarity, like they haven't had those situations, you know,
- 1:23:48Speaker 6: And I just think it's it's really different. I think
- 1:23:54Speaker 6: it's I don't know. I gets there's some similarities. I
- 1:24:01Speaker 6: just don't see it as much as that.
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: One or this one. This one.
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I hear what you're saying. And Brady was a
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: sixth round pick versus being the third overall pick in
- 1:24:13Speaker 4: the draft, and that's a big difference too. But it's
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: a big free agent class, you know, second year quarterback,
- 1:24:21Speaker 4: Newish head coach you know, uh, great defense in the playoffs.
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: I I mean I thought about it on Sunday when
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: they would beat the Technive.
- 1:24:31Speaker 6: People have been talking about it all year, and I
- 1:24:34Speaker 6: don't think it's like not even close. Like don't get
- 1:24:37Speaker 6: me wrong, Like I understand what you know. There's a
- 1:24:39Speaker 6: lot of it was a good free agent class and
- 1:24:41Speaker 6: all that stuff, second year quarterbacks, but I don't look
- 1:24:45Speaker 6: at it as being all that similar because of the
- 1:24:47Speaker 6: style of the games, the way that this team is
- 1:24:51Speaker 6: completely offensive driven. You know, during the course of the
- 1:24:54Speaker 6: regular season. Now in the playoffs, the defense is is dominated,
- 1:24:58Speaker 6: the two deep, the two player. It's been a whole
- 1:25:01Speaker 6: different story. If it was like this all year and
- 1:25:03Speaker 6: you were kind of scuffling on offense and the defense,
- 1:25:05Speaker 6: and I would say, oh, now, I see, I see
- 1:25:07Speaker 6: a little more what you guys are talking about sticks rights.
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: In defense of Drake May I'm trying to figure out
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: why they keep saying May played terrible. Yes, he had
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: a few fumbles, but that they're leaving out the part
- 1:25:18Speaker 3: that he also threw three touchdowns. Only one other person
- 1:25:21Speaker 3: did that against that defense this year. If he doesn't
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: throw those touchdowns, we lose. Look how other quarterbacks performed
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: against that defense. Josh Allen three interceptions, no touchdowns, Pat
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: Mahome three interceptions, no touchdowns, Matt Stafford one touchdown. I
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: think they making it a big deal about May when
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: he played way better in the second half. That's when
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: good players do it. So we're winning. So he's playing
- 1:25:44Speaker 3: bad right now, just one second, he played really, really bad.
- 1:25:47Speaker 6: We're saying he can't be sloppy with the football going
- 1:25:51Speaker 6: forward as he's been in these two games. The reason
- 1:25:54Speaker 6: why you got away with it is because Will Campbell
- 1:25:56Speaker 6: keeps recovering the fumblesh You got away with it because
- 1:26:00Speaker 6: you're recovering half of the fumbles. He has six fumbles.
- 1:26:03Speaker 6: The Patriots have recovered three of them. Now you could say,
- 1:26:06Speaker 6: I mean, I think there's probably Bill Barnwell stats out
- 1:26:09Speaker 6: there to say that's that's the randomness of a fumble.
- 1:26:11Speaker 6: It's like fifty to fifty and that's probably true. But
- 1:26:15Speaker 6: all it takes is one game where you fumble four
- 1:26:17Speaker 6: times and don't recover any of them, and you go
- 1:26:19Speaker 6: home right Like, you fumble four times, you recover two
- 1:26:22Speaker 6: of them the other day.
- 1:26:23Speaker 4: Especially at strip sacks, it's hard to recover a strip
- 1:26:25Speaker 4: sack because you know the defense isn't both of them.
- 1:26:29Speaker 4: The Texans had in their hands with a guy scooping
- 1:26:33Speaker 4: it to go in and wasn't able to quite secure it.
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:26:36Speaker 6: Like, and I'm not telling you that he played poorly
- 1:26:38Speaker 6: he made three unbelievable touchdown throws or didn't care about
- 1:26:41Speaker 6: the touchdowns. The other guys you scored them, and they
- 1:26:44Speaker 6: averaged seventeen points allowed in the game and you scored
- 1:26:46Speaker 6: twenty one. Like you were basically in line to what
- 1:26:49Speaker 6: Houston has been giving up to everybody.
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: And unless a quarterback with those mistakes wouldn't have been
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: able to do what he did, they'd fold. Yeah, he
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: never lost.
- 1:26:57Speaker 4: That would I give him the most credit for it
- 1:27:00Speaker 4: didn't go in the blunder like he could have very
- 1:27:02Speaker 4: easily lost his marbles and like Stroud died frankly.
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: Frankly he did.
- 1:27:07Speaker 4: But you know, this was his worst statistical game of
- 1:27:10Speaker 4: the season by far. And LOSDPA, lowess drop back success rate,
- 1:27:14Speaker 4: lowest QBR. And I know the passer ratings, sorry, I know,
- 1:27:17Speaker 4: the passer rating is one hundred. They don't count the
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: fumbles in passer ratings, so passer rating doesn't dock him
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: for fumbles. So that's why the passer rating is still
- 1:27:26Speaker 4: really really good. Because he was three touchdowns to one pick,
- 1:27:28Speaker 4: it's still going to be pretty high. But all the
- 1:27:31Speaker 4: you know, good advanced metrics those ones count, fumbles, count
- 1:27:35Speaker 4: the five sacks, you know, count all this other stuff
- 1:27:38Speaker 4: that gets baked into all of it.
- 1:27:40Speaker 6: And I would just say, we're comparing him to himself.
- 1:27:44Speaker 6: So he set a record or whatever. He was a
- 1:27:48Speaker 6: set of Patriots record anyway for completion percentage, right, yep.
- 1:27:52Speaker 6: He hasn't been anywhere near that in the playoffs sixty games,
- 1:27:56Speaker 6: So like that's what we're talking about. We're not saying
- 1:27:59Speaker 6: like he was c. J. Stroud on Sunday who completely
- 1:28:03Speaker 6: took away any chance his team had to win. He
- 1:28:05Speaker 6: was so bad.
- 1:28:05Speaker 8: Yea.
- 1:28:06Speaker 6: And also like the whole turnover thing. I know, we
- 1:28:11Speaker 6: threw a pick, but the pick came on a hail
- 1:28:13Speaker 6: Mary in the last play of the half. So like
- 1:28:15Speaker 6: the whole five to three internal was really five to two.
- 1:28:18Speaker 6: That doesn't count, right, Like that one doesn't really count.
- 1:28:21Speaker 6: Now the Texans turned it over five times, the Patriots
- 1:28:23Speaker 6: turned it over twice.
- 1:28:25Speaker 4: That's the cool thing. Not to pump the epas tires,
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: but like e p A knows that that was a
- 1:28:29Speaker 4: hail Mary at the end of the half, what does
- 1:28:31Speaker 4: he live? So it doesn't it lives in the It
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: lives in the I got an e PA stat for you.
- 1:28:36Speaker 4: It lives in the cloud.
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: But that so they he looks like a little kid
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: looks at Santa Claus.
- 1:28:44Speaker 6: That's kind of the way I look at it, like
- 1:28:46Speaker 6: it doesn't exist.
- 1:28:48Speaker 3: That's that one the PA for this season. I would
- 1:28:51Speaker 3: like he does.
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: It doesn't even make any sense the.
- 1:28:58Speaker 4: The e p A does not dock him the pick. Okay,
- 1:29:00Speaker 4: that's all.
- 1:29:01Speaker 6: So I saw an EPA stat that was interesting. You know, again,
- 1:29:05Speaker 6: to this is not to suggest that Drake may was
- 1:29:09Speaker 6: as bad as Stroud. It wasn't even close. He wasn't
- 1:29:11Speaker 6: any we'd need as damaging to his team as Stroud was.
- 1:29:15Speaker 6: But I think Mike Giardi wrote a piece today that
- 1:29:19Speaker 6: said that that was the the third worst offensive EPA
- 1:29:24Speaker 6: in a win all year for any team regular season playoffs,
- 1:29:29Speaker 6: and the two games that were worse than that were
- 1:29:32Speaker 6: the Raiders in Week eighteen against Kansas City. And I
- 1:29:36Speaker 6: don't know if you remember, you probably don't. I'm a
- 1:29:38Speaker 6: loser and I do remember these things? What do you
- 1:29:40Speaker 6: got when the Jets beat Cleveland in that game when
- 1:29:44Speaker 6: it was the game after they traded everybody, and they
- 1:29:46Speaker 6: returned a punt and a kickoff for a touchdown. That's
- 1:29:48Speaker 6: the only reason why they won the game. They couldn't
- 1:29:50Speaker 6: move the ball the whole day just before we played them.
- 1:29:52Speaker 6: Those were the only two offensive performances in victory that
- 1:29:56Speaker 6: were worse than the Patriots on Sunday.
- 1:29:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean this was by e p A in
- 1:30:01Speaker 4: his success rate which just you know, play success rate.
- 1:30:04Speaker 4: This was the worst of his career, even worse than
- 1:30:07Speaker 4: any of the games his rookie season, which I mean
- 1:30:10Speaker 4: like that is.
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: Was a person what would Epa look like?
- 1:30:16Speaker 4: Smart, like some kid from Round Glass super Cuts haircut? Yeah, yeah,
- 1:30:22Speaker 4: I mean, you know, something like that. But you know,
- 1:30:25Speaker 4: like some people just like stats that put context like
- 1:30:28Speaker 4: into the number instead of just you know, you.
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: Stick up for you. Joseph from Texas, just a few
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: quick things I'm surprised haven't been said yet regarding Nix's injury.
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: Paul's statement that it always works out for the Patriots,
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: well doesn't need to be.
- 1:30:42Speaker 6: Said at this point, saying.
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: It to regarding the Patriots success. Fred's saying that we
- 1:30:48Speaker 3: broke the rest of the AFC East and sent them
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: into chaotic disarray.
- 1:30:51Speaker 4: That's so true.
- 1:30:51Speaker 6: We did, I think, what did I What did I
- 1:30:54Speaker 6: tell I te I text that the Patriots broke the
- 1:30:57Speaker 6: whole af You did say that, not just the ARC East.
- 1:31:00Speaker 4: A little bit of a stretch.
- 1:31:01Speaker 6: Harbaugh and Tomlin guys were there eighteen and nineteen years.
- 1:31:06Speaker 6: They're gone because of the Patriots and now McDermott.
- 1:31:09Speaker 4: Because it is gone, not because they have.
- 1:31:11Speaker 6: After an eight straight years of playoff playoff appearances and
- 1:31:15Speaker 6: wins in the playoffs six I think it's six years.
- 1:31:18Speaker 4: And also a game that hasn't won a Patriots Patriots
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: broke them.
- 1:31:21Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: And also Paul texted me said, you know, my Bears
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: did better than he thought they would.
- 1:31:27Speaker 6: I said, I got to give you Beers credit, and
- 1:31:28Speaker 6: I told him.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: Should send a video game.
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: There is a video shout out.
- 1:31:35Speaker 4: The scribes are up in the press box doing ourscribing
- 1:31:39Speaker 4: after the game on Sunday and the Bears Rams game
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: was up on the TV and everybody is you know,
- 1:31:47Speaker 4: Caleb threw that touch o at the end and everyone
- 1:31:50Speaker 4: was going crazy like, oh my god, like and then
- 1:31:52Speaker 4: you're looking up from your computer and you're like, oh
- 1:31:54Speaker 4: my god.
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: I was listening on the radio on the way home
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: and Kevin Harland was doing the call and he was.
- 1:31:59Speaker 4: Like, I hadn't seen that I wouldn't full limit.
- 1:32:02Speaker 6: Yeah, it was actually, I mean, I was pretty I
- 1:32:04Speaker 6: was actually talking to No Socks about Kevin Harland, and
- 1:32:07Speaker 6: I was kind of critical of him. But that was
- 1:32:08Speaker 6: a great call of the last play. But when he
- 1:32:11Speaker 6: was like describing that and he said he's back to
- 1:32:13Speaker 6: the forty, and I'm thinking to myself, real quickly, please.
- 1:32:17Speaker 3: Started on like the fourteen yard line.
- 1:32:18Speaker 6: I was back to the forty. I'm like, there's no
- 1:32:21Speaker 6: chance that he's Like god, it was amazing.
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: The third thing that he's surprised hadn't be said, Fred
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: would child like enthusiasm.
- 1:32:29Speaker 4: If we win this game, we go to the super Bowl.
- 1:32:31Speaker 3: But you seem a little worried about Stidham, Fred, which
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: has me worried. I'm telling you, be careful Patriots fans.
- 1:32:38Speaker 6: Paul Is, don't lose this one.
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: I mean, is Nick's getting hurt though the ultimate it
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: always works out for the Patriots. I mean, has there
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: ever been a bigger I was it always works out
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: a championship quarterback gets injured.
- 1:32:49Speaker 4: I was like going crazy in my apartment on Saturday
- 1:32:52Speaker 4: when that happened. Like I'm just sitting there watching, you know,
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: getting ready to watch the next one, by the way,
- 1:32:57Speaker 4: and Sean Payge just walks out to the post to
- 1:33:00Speaker 4: him and says, our quarterback is done for the year.
- 1:33:02Speaker 6: And I was like, Fred, it's up there. I mean,
- 1:33:09Speaker 6: I'd have to give it more thought, but this is
- 1:33:12Speaker 6: just this run has been pretty you know good for
- 1:33:15Speaker 6: some of that stuff. I was thinking myself, you know,
- 1:33:17Speaker 6: Nico Collins might not have dropped half of those passes
- 1:33:19Speaker 6: the other day.
- 1:33:20Speaker 3: I was thinking myself about like what could have been?
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: And you go back to that fateful game where the
- 1:33:26Speaker 3: Patriots won the last game of the Mayo regime, which
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: you know, don't drop them down to number three. What
- 1:33:37Speaker 3: may have been the quarterback of this.
- 1:33:39Speaker 4: I knew he was going to say it wrong draft.
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: I knew it.
- 1:33:42Speaker 6: I knew he was going to say it. I kept
- 1:33:44Speaker 6: telling him. I kept that, kept wishing that that's right.
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: I did it again.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: What does that happen? A lot? I don't either. It's
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: like a lot of.
- 1:33:51Speaker 4: People screw up I am so sorry, so sorry.
- 1:33:54Speaker 6: I don't I don't really understand, like this is the
- 1:33:57Speaker 6: most common.
- 1:33:58Speaker 3: Will Campbell the the way the Patriots.
- 1:34:01Speaker 4: It's like Paul and I were standing on the train
- 1:34:03Speaker 4: track and.
- 1:34:06Speaker 6: Because it's so common, and I don't really understand.
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: So let me ask the question.
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: So I think maybe I understand where the confusions go.
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: That year two years ago, was there a chance that
- 1:34:17Speaker 3: the Patriots could have had the first pick if something happened?
- 1:34:19Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, right, yeah, yeah, I mean like there was
- 1:34:25Speaker 4: they lost to the Commanders.
- 1:34:28Speaker 3: It wasn't so simple, yeah.
- 1:34:29Speaker 4: Because it's strength to schedule, strength the victory.
- 1:34:32Speaker 6: Like Chad Ryland, who really struggled badly that year, made
- 1:34:36Speaker 6: like a fifty six yard field goal to beat Denver,
- 1:34:39Speaker 6: and a lot of people said they went to Denver.
- 1:34:42Speaker 6: I think it cost them, like the I remember two impossible, right, yeah,
- 1:34:46Speaker 6: I think that's what a lot of people were complaining.
- 1:34:48Speaker 6: But like, yeah, they could have had Jadeen Daniels.
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: If you had to pull one thread out, it would
- 1:34:53Speaker 4: be that one. Like if they if they lose that
- 1:34:55Speaker 4: game in Denver, then maybe they would have had the
- 1:34:57Speaker 4: number two pick. I'm not totally convinced that they would
- 1:35:00Speaker 4: have taken Daniels over May, so I I.
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: Really have no idea.
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: I don't know if that would have they had the
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: first pick where they have picked Williams over all three
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: of all the other.
- 1:35:10Speaker 4: I think probably just because they probably needed to go,
- 1:35:14Speaker 4: would be.
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: In the same spot.
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: Would I pick?
- 1:35:17Speaker 6: No, No, if they had taken if they had gotten
- 1:35:18Speaker 6: the number one pick and they.
- 1:35:20Speaker 3: Had taken to bring in Josh McDaniels with them.
- 1:35:22Speaker 6: Now I'm saying, if you had Williams on this team,
- 1:35:25Speaker 6: would you be in the same spot?
- 1:35:27Speaker 3: So maybe maybe I think if you have, like I said,
- 1:35:31Speaker 3: if you have Josh McDaniels, I don't think that.
- 1:35:34Speaker 6: Everything is the same with the team.
- 1:35:36Speaker 4: I don't think Caleb would have had the regular season
- 1:35:39Speaker 4: that Drake May had. Like I don't think that he
- 1:35:41Speaker 4: would be a potential m VP.
- 1:35:43Speaker 6: I would not say, as an example, he would be
- 1:35:47Speaker 6: completing seventy two percent of his past right, But.
- 1:35:49Speaker 4: I do the kind of I do think they might
- 1:35:50Speaker 4: have won a lot of I mean, the Bears won
- 1:35:52Speaker 4: a lot of games.
- 1:35:52Speaker 6: They would have won a lot of yeah, like fourth
- 1:35:54Speaker 6: quarter comebacks. Yeah, they would have won a lot of games.
- 1:35:57Speaker 6: And I think they'd be in this sea.
- 1:35:58Speaker 4: He's a really interesting player.
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: Like I just he such a one of those never
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: dead till the clock making a guy, like even when
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: they got stopped on that fourth down, like they get
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: the ball back, he's coming again.
- 1:36:08Speaker 3: Like you can't set this guy from you. No, I
- 1:36:10Speaker 3: don't want to go down a track. But let's assume
- 1:36:12Speaker 3: that the Raiders gets the doors, all right? Is that
- 1:36:16Speaker 3: a real potent offense?
- 1:36:17Speaker 9: Now? Not yet?
- 1:36:19Speaker 6: No brock Bowers and and you know, a decent running back.
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: He could be great.
- 1:36:25Speaker 6: He could be if they had five good linemen sart
- 1:36:27Speaker 6: or something maybe. But yeah, I mean he had. He
- 1:36:29Speaker 6: had a better year than people think. I think he was.
- 1:36:34Speaker 6: I think he had more yards from scrimmage than than anybody,
- 1:36:37Speaker 6: any of the rookies, right yeah, yeah.
- 1:36:40Speaker 4: I mean i'll more than anybody else.
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: But I'm probably fair.
- 1:36:43Speaker 4: I think that would have been dooza that most of
- 1:36:47Speaker 4: the people don't feel that he's quite in that tier
- 1:36:50Speaker 4: of quarterback prospects.
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: He's going to be really good.
- 1:36:52Speaker 6: I'm not saying he's like, I'm just saying that smart.
- 1:36:56Speaker 6: I think he plays a real NFL style. I will
- 1:36:58Speaker 6: say that I think he like I don't know how
- 1:37:01Speaker 6: good he's going to be. I'm not really good at that,
- 1:37:03Speaker 6: but he seems like he throws the ball with anticipation.
- 1:37:06Speaker 6: He throws the ball before guys are open, like you
- 1:37:08Speaker 6: have to do.
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: In the awareness. He's got the measure.
- 1:37:13Speaker 4: He's gonna be the number one.
- 1:37:14Speaker 6: I'm trying to tell you what they know. He's saying.
- 1:37:18Speaker 6: He's not Andrew Luck. He's not one of these generational
- 1:37:20Speaker 6: talents college.
- 1:37:21Speaker 8: I agree with.
- 1:37:22Speaker 4: I don't know where he would have been in Drake
- 1:37:24Speaker 4: May's draft. I think that that would have been a
- 1:37:26Speaker 4: conversation if you know, I I he's that's how he
- 1:37:31Speaker 4: was the.
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: QB for Penn State or Notre Dame. People would be
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: calling him generational.
- 1:37:36Speaker 4: I mean, Indiana just won the national champion.
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: I know, but I'm still saying that he didn't have
- 1:37:41Speaker 3: that team behind getting doc because.
- 1:37:43Speaker 4: I don't know about that. I mean, that's that offensive
- 1:37:46Speaker 4: line won the Joe Moore Award. Their defense was great
- 1:37:49Speaker 4: all year. But they I think that that's just how
- 1:37:52Speaker 4: he's being. He's more like people compare him more to
- 1:37:55Speaker 4: like a Jared Goff coming out or someone like that,
- 1:37:58Speaker 4: and they're comparing him to like, you know, Caleb, Drake
- 1:38:03Speaker 4: May Jade and Daniels L.
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:38:05Speaker 4: I think he's really really good. I'm not trying to
- 1:38:07Speaker 4: say he isn't. That's just what the draft community is.
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: I think he's the kind of kid that like, he
- 1:38:13Speaker 3: hasn't even reached his potential because I think he's smart, accurate.
- 1:38:19Speaker 4: But that's how he's going to have to win the league. Yeah,
- 1:38:21Speaker 4: I don't the physical tools, I like, I don't know
- 1:38:24Speaker 4: how immense those really are. You know, he's not really
- 1:38:29Speaker 4: a runner. That's the questions that people have are are
- 1:38:33Speaker 4: more about the intangibles are off the charts, no, no
- 1:38:36Speaker 4: doubt about that. But is he you know, physically how
- 1:38:39Speaker 4: high is his ceiling as a prospect.
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: Let's go to North Carolina, Kendall. What's up, Kendall, Kendall,
- 1:38:51Speaker 3: it's a tease. Stop. Let's go to Manny in New Bedford. Hey, Manny, Hey,
- 1:38:58Speaker 3: what's going on?
- 1:38:59Speaker 10: Guys?
- 1:38:59Speaker 3: Hey? Sorry?
- 1:39:00Speaker 18: I don't want to keep beating a dead horse here.
- 1:39:02Speaker 18: And I hate to sound really harsh because I love
- 1:39:05Speaker 18: Will Campbell, but when do the excuses stop?
- 1:39:09Speaker 8: You know?
- 1:39:10Speaker 18: I remember we talked about it when we played the
- 1:39:12Speaker 18: Browns and he had a terrible game against Miles Garrett.
- 1:39:16Speaker 18: Expected Miles Garrett. It's just on a different level, right.
- 1:39:19Speaker 18: And then I remember him making a comment after we
- 1:39:22Speaker 18: played the Chargers about basing Khalil Mack. He's getting paid
- 1:39:26Speaker 18: a ton of money. I get that, great players, But
- 1:39:29Speaker 18: we drafted him fourth overaught pick. So are we like
- 1:39:32Speaker 18: worried that he's not going to live up to that
- 1:39:35Speaker 18: fourth overall pick hype. So I'm kind of just really worried.
- 1:39:38Speaker 3: About a lot of people are.
- 1:39:40Speaker 18: Yeah, but I just don't want to keep making excuses
- 1:39:44Speaker 18: for him or if he's a rookie, you know, but again,
- 1:39:47Speaker 18: we drafted you fourth overrough pick, so you need to
- 1:39:49Speaker 18: play to that expectation.
- 1:39:51Speaker 6: Yeah, I would agree with you, And I just want
- 1:39:53Speaker 6: to just defend myself a little bit. I wasn't making
- 1:39:56Speaker 6: an excuse for him when I asked if we thought
- 1:39:58Speaker 6: he was healthy. I'm simply saying he had an and
- 1:40:02Speaker 6: I think a sprained MCL came back pretty quickly from it.
- 1:40:05Speaker 6: He only missed the four weeks on ir. That's that's
- 1:40:10Speaker 6: a quick turnaround.
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: Again.
- 1:40:12Speaker 6: If I if I sounded like that was making an
- 1:40:13Speaker 6: excuse for him, I didn't mean to. I was just
- 1:40:15Speaker 6: asking asking for a friend. I don't know if it's true,
- 1:40:19Speaker 6: maybe he's not healthy.
- 1:40:20Speaker 3: I don't know if it's true, but I've heard people
- 1:40:21Speaker 3: say that they put him on IR to save him
- 1:40:23Speaker 3: from himself, like they wanted it out of the question
- 1:40:27Speaker 3: that he would come back too soon.
- 1:40:28Speaker 4: I just think that, and look at there's there's the
- 1:40:31Speaker 4: nature of the beast, and it's not going to be
- 1:40:33Speaker 4: done this way. But we told you at the time
- 1:40:36Speaker 4: that all fourth overall picks are created equal. Not every
- 1:40:40Speaker 4: single fourth overall pick is going to be Lane Johnson
- 1:40:42Speaker 4: or Joe Thomas or a Hall of Fame caliber player.
- 1:40:45Speaker 4: In that draft, he was their best option in terms
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: of day one starter at a huge, gigantic hole on
- 1:40:52Speaker 4: the team, and for the most part, I would say
- 1:40:55Speaker 4: that he's been average to above average and give them
- 1:41:00Speaker 4: exactly what they needed. When he plays Will Anderson and
- 1:41:03Speaker 4: Danielle Hunter and Miles Garrett, he gets beat and a
- 1:41:08Speaker 4: lot of guys get beat by those types of guys.
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: They do.
- 1:41:11Speaker 4: And I just I understand that he was the fourth
- 1:41:13Speaker 4: overall pick, but I think that the context of the
- 1:41:16Speaker 4: class that he was drafted fourth overall in, which has
- 1:41:19Speaker 4: not been very good by the way across the NFL,
- 1:41:23Speaker 4: is important now it's not gonna it's gonna get lost
- 1:41:26Speaker 4: in the wash with him, I'm sure. But if he's
- 1:41:30Speaker 4: you know, we always go back to Matt Light, Like
- 1:41:33Speaker 4: if he's Matt Light, who had a lot of trouble
- 1:41:36Speaker 4: with Jason Taylor, had a lot of trouble with Dwight Freeney.
- 1:41:40Speaker 4: But you know, fifteen or fourteen out of the sixteen
- 1:41:44Speaker 4: guys that he faced in the season, he did a
- 1:41:46Speaker 4: really good job against.
- 1:41:47Speaker 3: And my hope with Campbell is that he wants it
- 1:41:51Speaker 3: so bad that he's going to do everything he can
- 1:41:54Speaker 3: in the offseason to get better, and he'll he'll improve.
- 1:41:58Speaker 3: You know, this is his first year, and he'll get
- 1:42:01Speaker 3: better and he'll like, he'll be fine.
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: He'll be fine.
- 1:42:05Speaker 3: But you know, some people say, well, you can be
- 1:42:07Speaker 3: fine at left tackle or possibly an All Pro guard,
- 1:42:11Speaker 3: which would you rather do? And I go back to
- 1:42:14Speaker 3: the whole Devin mccordy thing. They drafted him as a
- 1:42:17Speaker 3: cornerback and second year they moved him into safety, and
- 1:42:21Speaker 3: he was.
- 1:42:21Speaker 6: A you know, I need my options would be at tackle.
- 1:42:25Speaker 4: I would rather him play tackle, Yeah, I.
- 1:42:27Speaker 6: Mean if I think I would if I have an option, yeah,
- 1:42:30Speaker 6: I think I can do better. At tackle and if
- 1:42:33Speaker 6: I could, then I'm feeling pretty good about him as
- 1:42:35Speaker 6: a guard and Wilson moving over also, I want.
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: Him to be tackled.
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: That's why the callers the way he is.
- 1:42:43Speaker 6: I agree with you. I think his personality has been
- 1:42:45Speaker 6: such that he's such a nice kid. We all enjoy
- 1:42:49Speaker 6: talking to him. He says kind of colorful things. It
- 1:42:51Speaker 6: seems like he's really well liked in the locker room.
- 1:42:53Speaker 6: With the Friday thing and the weather reports and stuff
- 1:42:56Speaker 6: that he's been doing, I think that's sort of have
- 1:43:00Speaker 6: bought him a lot of goodwill among the media, and
- 1:43:02Speaker 6: it wasn't until it got really glaring in these two
- 1:43:05Speaker 6: playoff games that people have finally started saying, hh, yeah,
- 1:43:09Speaker 6: he's okay. Yeah, you know, I think that never continues
- 1:43:12Speaker 6: that way. You're going to have to have a conversation about.
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: I think the conversation about them with the guard will
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: continue into the offseason and will be a point that
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: we talk about frequently. And I mean, I agree with
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: Paul's point about it depends on who's available. But you know,
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: just for me, if that did end up happening, I
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: don't look at it as oh, they whiffed on the
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: fourth overall pick, Like, did they get a good player?
- 1:43:30Speaker 4: Is he going to start for them?
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: Still? You know, I'm still okay with that.
- 1:43:33Speaker 6: But Gevin's point about that is dead on, like who'd
- 1:43:37Speaker 6: you miss? Yeah, who'd you miss?
- 1:43:39Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 1:43:39Speaker 6: Right, there's some good players. I'm sure you know, I'm
- 1:43:42Speaker 6: sure Mason Graham is going to be a good, solid player, Like,
- 1:43:45Speaker 6: I don't.
- 1:43:45Speaker 4: Think the only one that you could I don't.
- 1:43:47Speaker 6: I don't necessarily look at that as like a difference
- 1:43:49Speaker 6: making kind of player McMillan would have would have made.
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: Now, knowing what we know about Drake, that's a that's
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: a fit.
- 1:43:55Speaker 4: Yeah, but yeah, I think that, you know, it comes
- 1:43:56Speaker 4: back to now you're going to be picking let's say
- 1:44:00Speaker 4: thirty second in the draft. It's already a hollow position
- 1:44:05Speaker 4: as it is, so you're not going to be You're
- 1:44:07Speaker 4: not going to draft the starting left tackle at at
- 1:44:09Speaker 4: thirty two that's going to be better than Will Campbell?
- 1:44:11Speaker 4: Not not most likely not? So are you going?
- 1:44:14Speaker 6: I have heard good things about the tackle class there?
- 1:44:16Speaker 4: Are you going free agency? Are you going draft?
- 1:44:19Speaker 3: You know?
- 1:44:19Speaker 4: Like, how are you going to find a left tackle?
- 1:44:21Speaker 4: That's because I think that Will Campbell has been serviceable. Yeah,
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: when he goes up in competition against two of the
- 1:44:28Speaker 4: best rushers in the entire league, he got beat badly.
- 1:44:32Speaker 4: But he's been serviceable in all the other games this
- 1:44:34Speaker 4: season that he's played in. So how do you do
- 1:44:37Speaker 4: better than that? I'm not saying you can't.
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: I'm just saying how And to Friend's point, he can
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: improve too, Like you know, I mean, he'll he's always
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: going to be the size that he is. And like
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: having watched him now for whatever it is, in nineteen
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: games or eight whenever, then he was out like he's
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: not a big guy. He's going to learn that. He's
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: going to learn the tricks of the trade. Yeah, I
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: think he's going to get especially for a guy who's
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: athletic like him, and you know he'll be he'll get bad.
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: I mean, that's what kind of team. But it's just ultimately,
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: he's always going to kind of be that size and
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: you can you can get by with it, but I
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: don't want to just blanket move him. I know this
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: isn't the year to say we need an edge, and
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: we also got to find a left tackle like that.
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: I mean, we know how heart of this to get
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: that position. So I don't know if they can thread
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: the needle on it.
- 1:45:19Speaker 3: Cody writes in maybe I'm an eternal pessimist, but does
- 1:45:23Speaker 3: this seem eerily similar to Yeah, the Broncos defense is
- 1:45:26Speaker 3: really good, but no way brock Osweiler or the ghost
- 1:45:29Speaker 3: of Peyton Manning can win this game ten years later.
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: It's on my mind.
- 1:45:34Speaker 6: Yeah, listen, Yeah, I mean I just think it's a
- 1:45:36Speaker 6: whole different situation. First of all, Peyton Manning. Can we
- 1:45:39Speaker 6: not like the ghost of Peyton Manning the ghost of
- 1:45:42Speaker 6: a Hall of Fame player, Like I get it, he was,
- 1:45:45Speaker 6: you know, on his last legs and whatever brock Osweiler
- 1:45:51Speaker 6: was there was their quarterback at the time. Like if
- 1:45:55Speaker 6: even if this happened three weeks ago, I would have
- 1:45:57Speaker 6: a whole different mindset with Jared Stidham. You know, everybody
- 1:46:02Speaker 6: likes to bring out Nick Foles and Jeff Hostel where
- 1:46:04Speaker 6: those guys were playing, they had to. They replaced the
- 1:46:07Speaker 6: starting quarterback and at least got a couple of games
- 1:46:09Speaker 6: in and by the way, in both cases bad games
- 1:46:13Speaker 6: when they initially went in to replace him, because Foles
- 1:46:16Speaker 6: played the Foles played one good game and then a
- 1:46:19Speaker 6: really bad one.
- 1:46:20Speaker 4: He played the NFC Championship game against Minnesota, right.
- 1:46:23Speaker 6: Yeah, but I'm talking about in the regular season. They
- 1:46:25Speaker 6: played the last two or three games of the regular seasons,
- 1:46:27Speaker 6: both Hostetler and Foles. Yeah, so by the time they
- 1:46:31Speaker 6: got to the championship game levels they had had five
- 1:46:34Speaker 6: or six game You know, that's a big difference. Yeah,
- 1:46:37Speaker 6: this guy hasn't started a game in a long long time.
- 1:46:40Speaker 4: Nick Fole, I don't know anything about the nineteen ninety
- 1:46:43Speaker 4: Giants offense. I'm sure you could enlighten me, Paul, but
- 1:46:46Speaker 4: that Eagles offense in seventeen was loaded. I mean they
- 1:46:49Speaker 4: had an offensive first game. He played really, really well.
- 1:46:53Speaker 6: I actually looked at it a little bit.
- 1:46:55Speaker 4: On Jeffrey was on the outside, agalar lg and the
- 1:46:59Speaker 4: slot you know that was that was a good team
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: like that, zach Ertz in his prime at tight end,
- 1:47:06Speaker 4: and that offensive line was the best in that league.
- 1:47:09Speaker 6: Height Jo, And I'm not telling you you can't win
- 1:47:11Speaker 6: the game, because Fred's right. You can rally and do
- 1:47:14Speaker 6: all that kind of stuff, and your defense can do
- 1:47:17Speaker 6: what the the fifteen Broncos defense did and win the game.
- 1:47:22Speaker 6: That's what it would take. Like that, I'm like Jeff hosteler,
- 1:47:25Speaker 6: like went in and went nine for sixteen for ninety
- 1:47:28Speaker 6: seven yards, you know, thirteen for twenty three for one
- 1:47:31Speaker 6: hundred and ninety yards. That's how they won the games.
- 1:47:33Speaker 6: Twelve for twenty three. By the way, I want to
- 1:47:36Speaker 6: really point this one out, nineteen ninety twelve for twenty
- 1:47:39Speaker 6: three for one hundred and twenty three yards in a
- 1:47:41Speaker 6: touchdown and a thirteen to ten win over who the
- 1:47:45Speaker 6: New England Patriots that went one in fifteen.
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: Yeah, like he didn't lose the games for.
- 1:47:52Speaker 6: Him, So like, yes, I'm not telling you they can't
- 1:47:55Speaker 6: win the game. I'm telling you I wouldn't expect like
- 1:47:57Speaker 6: Nick Foles did in one of his games twenty four
- 1:48:00Speaker 6: thirty eight for two thirty seven and four touchdowns. Yeah,
- 1:48:03Speaker 6: if that happens, you're in trouble, right, But I wouldn't
- 1:48:08Speaker 6: expect that. I would expect more of a hosteler kind
- 1:48:10Speaker 6: of a you know, just stay out of the way,
- 1:48:14Speaker 6: don't turn it over, let's play to the defense, let's
- 1:48:16Speaker 6: do field position, and let's hopefully we don't need anything.
- 1:48:19Speaker 6: And if it's close late, then maybe we can steal it.
- 1:48:21Speaker 4: If they had a running game and if they were
- 1:48:23Speaker 4: like built that way I would feel better, or if
- 1:48:26Speaker 4: I was a Denver fan, I doubt that's what. Just
- 1:48:30Speaker 4: digging into the Broncos over the last twelve hours, I'm like,
- 1:48:34Speaker 4: they don't run the ball very well, and so like,
- 1:48:36Speaker 4: how are you going to take pressure off of Stidham
- 1:48:38Speaker 4: in this game? And how you know, how are you
- 1:48:41Speaker 4: going to expect him to not be He can't be
- 1:48:43Speaker 4: the hero, Like you can't put it all the whole
- 1:48:44Speaker 4: game on his shoulders. Other than the defense forcing five
- 1:48:47Speaker 4: turnovers or like they did last week. It just doesn't
- 1:48:50Speaker 4: feel like they have the type of offense.
- 1:48:53Speaker 3: Exter in Santa Rosa, California says, I agree with Paul,
- 1:48:56Speaker 3: there's literally no way we lose this game to Jared Stidham,
- 1:48:59Speaker 3: and he was correct and stating that the bear stink.
- 1:49:02Speaker 3: It's always nice to get a double buy in the playoffs.
- 1:49:04Speaker 3: With this week and next week off Patriots forty two
- 1:49:07Speaker 3: thirteen Patriots verus Rams in the Super Bowl, we went
- 1:49:10Speaker 3: our seventh thirty eight thirty five, that'd be awesome. I
- 1:49:13Speaker 3: hope that's right.
- 1:49:15Speaker 6: Just kind of just correct one thing. I didn't say
- 1:49:18Speaker 6: the bear stink, Yeah.
- 1:49:19Speaker 3: You kind of did.
- 1:49:20Speaker 6: No, I did take walk is the word I think
- 1:49:22Speaker 6: you used. I think the Patriots would be Chicago. I
- 1:49:25Speaker 6: said they're not that good, and you took that to
- 1:49:27Speaker 6: mean that they weren't good, yeah, And I said, but
- 1:49:31Speaker 6: like there was like yeah, there was an emphasis on that.
- 1:49:34Speaker 6: Like I think, like to Evans point Seattle, right, you
- 1:49:37Speaker 6: think Seattle is like up here, I think goes down here.
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: They're not that good, correct.
- 1:49:47Speaker 3: Like eighty five Bears are not that good.
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: I'm comparing them to like the Seahawks, not comparing them
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: that good.
- 1:49:57Speaker 6: Right, they're not carrying on rather than carrying We can
- 1:50:01Speaker 6: get to that.
- 1:50:02Speaker 4: Can I throw something out there in the last ten
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: minutes of the show that I'm glad it's buried ten
- 1:50:06Speaker 4: minutes left in the show. Drake May in the bad
- 1:50:10Speaker 4: weather and like that, like it's not supposed to be
- 1:50:16Speaker 4: like just to be nice that bad in Denver and
- 1:50:19Speaker 4: then obviously the Super Bowls in Santa Clara, where I
- 1:50:21Speaker 4: think he's gonna be, you know, fine, totally chill with
- 1:50:25Speaker 4: that environment. I don't want to like make this like
- 1:50:29Speaker 4: a Drake May is bad and bad weather thing because
- 1:50:31Speaker 4: I think and those conditions on Sunday, like I don't
- 1:50:34Speaker 4: there are not a lot of quarterbacks that I think
- 1:50:36Speaker 4: are gonna throw great when it's snowing like that, and
- 1:50:39Speaker 4: you know, the weather was just not good for either team.
- 1:50:42Speaker 4: Herbert struggled to throw the ball in the first game
- 1:50:44Speaker 4: to Stroud struggled to throw the ball, you know, so
- 1:50:47Speaker 4: like it's kind of like everybody kind of had a
- 1:50:50Speaker 4: tough time.
- 1:50:50Speaker 3: With it, you know, from our perch in the press box,
- 1:50:53Speaker 3: you know, we didn't see a lot of wind, the
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: snow wasn't sticking. It was about thirty two degrees, so
- 1:50:58Speaker 3: it wasn't frigid, but that kind of wet type of
- 1:51:03Speaker 3: snow and thirty two that it gets to your bones,
- 1:51:07Speaker 3: you know what I mean, It really soaks in, and
- 1:51:09Speaker 3: maybe the ball was more slippery than we know. There
- 1:51:12Speaker 3: was just a couple of times, I mean there are
- 1:51:15Speaker 3: offered to play and then a heavy snow, like at
- 1:51:18Speaker 3: twenty degrees, that's a dry snow, you know what I mean.
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: There are two or three throws that he flat out
- 1:51:23Speaker 3: miss but that happens every game, So I'll give it
- 1:51:25Speaker 3: to him on that. I thought there were a couple
- 1:51:28Speaker 3: a handful of them where they just like I'm just
- 1:51:31Speaker 3: so used to him just dropping these throws right in
- 1:51:33Speaker 3: the bucket. You know, he had one on Kyle Williams
- 1:51:36Speaker 3: down the left sideline. That was he had a step
- 1:51:38Speaker 3: on Lassiter And I'm just so used to Drake may
- 1:51:41Speaker 3: just putting that Now he put it right on booty.
- 1:51:44Speaker 3: So you know that throw is cinematic like that throws gorgeous,
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: but like the one of Kyle Williams, he's made it. Yeah,
- 1:51:52Speaker 3: I kind of put a little bit of on Kyle
- 1:51:54Speaker 3: Williams too. Yeah, but you know that that throw hits
- 1:51:57Speaker 3: Kyle Williams and stride that might be a touchdown.
- 1:52:00Speaker 6: Yeah, he did definitely had he had a step. We
- 1:52:02Speaker 6: were saying it live like he's got him, He's got him.
- 1:52:04Speaker 6: As the ball was coming down, was like, to me.
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: This is just one of those things that's a little
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: bit of a work in progress. And you know, he
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: hasn't had an opportunity to play in weather like this,
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: and I'm sure he's never played in a game like
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: that on Sunday. So let's get to next year and
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: you know, see if I mean, they're winning games, so
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: he's still getting confidence and experience from these games.
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: Still. I'm I'm I'm a Will Campbell guy. Okay, Okay,
- 1:52:25Speaker 3: I just get back to Will Campbell.
- 1:52:27Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: I don't know, uh, because I wasn't listening Bill. Bill's
- 1:52:32Speaker 3: in Santa Monica.
- 1:52:33Speaker 4: What's up?
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: Bill?
- 1:52:36Speaker 19: Hey guys.
- 1:52:39Speaker 4: Sonny mccains so, oh dude.
- 1:52:42Speaker 19: I was at Sonny Mclaims on Saturday. My brother called
- 1:52:45Speaker 19: and said, get on, I'll give you miles. Get on
- 1:52:48Speaker 19: a plane, flew up to Boston, then went to the game.
- 1:52:52Speaker 10: Off.
- 1:52:53Speaker 19: Oh nice, And then now I'm back in so I'm like, uh,
- 1:52:56Speaker 19: sleep depride, but very happy. So to kind of dumb
- 1:53:00Speaker 19: questions about the beginning game and about the end of
- 1:53:03Speaker 19: the game. Was that point in the beginning of game
- 1:53:05Speaker 19: where C. J. Stroud had made more completions to Patriots
- 1:53:09Speaker 19: and Drake May?
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: All right, what's the Is there a point in the
- 1:53:14Speaker 3: game where Stroud had more completions than May?
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:53:19Speaker 3: Maybe?
- 1:53:19Speaker 6: Who Was there a point in the game where Stroud
- 1:53:21Speaker 6: had thrown four picks and May it only had three completions?
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: Possibly?
- 1:53:24Speaker 6: I don't think so, but you know I wouldn't rule
- 1:53:29Speaker 6: it out.
- 1:53:29Speaker 19: Yeah, yeah, exactly. And then the other one, like I said,
- 1:53:33Speaker 19: these are trivial, Uh, Patriots last possession, right, it's third
- 1:53:37Speaker 19: and forty thirteen right at whatever the Patriots forty five.
- 1:53:42Speaker 19: My buddy was like, they should have gone for it,
- 1:53:45Speaker 19: which I think is crazy. But his argument is they
- 1:53:48Speaker 19: weren't doing anything and we could they could run out
- 1:53:51Speaker 19: the cloth where punted, and I just figured that would
- 1:53:54Speaker 19: be you know, we got a couple of minutes, but
- 1:53:55Speaker 19: that would be a good argument if you guys could
- 1:53:57Speaker 19: get into.
- 1:53:58Speaker 6: No, not really, I agree with you. Yeah, said go
- 1:54:03Speaker 6: for it there, Like, you get a twelve point lead
- 1:54:05Speaker 6: with two minutes left and you want to go for
- 1:54:07Speaker 6: it on fourth and twelve, just punted it.
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: Make them go eighty yards.
- 1:54:13Speaker 19: Yeah, I'm want to make it most of his podcast,
- 1:54:15Speaker 19: so you know, I think that's the podcast set arguments, right.
- 1:54:19Speaker 6: Yeah, Now, if you want to question some fourth down decisions,
- 1:54:21Speaker 6: I would question some of Damigo ryans is. You know
- 1:54:24Speaker 6: in the game, I thought fourth and two when they
- 1:54:27Speaker 6: kicked the field goal to make it twenty one thirteen
- 1:54:29Speaker 6: fourth and two from the seven, I want to say,
- 1:54:32Speaker 6: and then two egregious ones. Down twelve points in the
- 1:54:35Speaker 6: fourth quarter, he punted twice on fourth down. The last
- 1:54:39Speaker 6: one was completely inexcusable.
- 1:54:41Speaker 4: I think he had more faith in this defense scoring,
- 1:54:43Speaker 4: but at some point, there wasn't enough time to do it,
- 1:54:46Speaker 4: even if his defense did exactly what he wanted them
- 1:54:49Speaker 4: to do.
- 1:54:49Speaker 6: You know, I think that's kind of why the Patriots
- 1:54:52Speaker 6: had some success on that drivers because the defense is
- 1:54:54Speaker 6: like you kidding me, like we're back out here again,
- 1:54:56Speaker 6: like we got it. Like literally, they're not even trying
- 1:54:59Speaker 6: to stop them. They're just trying to take the ball away.
- 1:55:01Speaker 4: At that point, the fourth down, the fourth quarter drive
- 1:55:06Speaker 4: the Patriots started at what like they're four or something
- 1:55:09Speaker 4: like that. That was. That was some big boy running
- 1:55:12Speaker 4: like that just at that point. I agree with that
- 1:55:17Speaker 4: talk to you, but I also give a little love
- 1:55:19Speaker 4: there who They ran it right behind Big Mike three
- 1:55:24Speaker 4: or four times in a row, and he I love
- 1:55:27Speaker 4: that he him and Morgan Moses opened up holes for
- 1:55:30Speaker 4: mare Stevenson to get him off at the.
- 1:55:31Speaker 3: Hole and try to stop it.
- 1:55:33Speaker 20: That was.
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: That's what that That.
- 1:55:35Speaker 4: Is an example of when you need the run game.
- 1:55:38Speaker 4: It's theo. I know what Paul's point is that they.
- 1:55:40Speaker 6: Are, but I mean, that's what you want to shorten
- 1:55:44Speaker 6: this game now and make sure that they don't have
- 1:55:46Speaker 6: time to have two possessions, And they did exactly that.
- 1:55:51Speaker 3: Tennessee what's up, Spencer, Spencer, you've been to ed Ley's.
- 1:55:59Speaker 6: Spencer, Sir, having a hard time today?
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:56:02Speaker 3: All right? Uh, Todd's in North Carolina.
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: Hey, Todd to will be there, he's always Yeah.
- 1:56:07Speaker 3: Todd, Verizon down again? Come on, that's going on? Shoot?
- 1:56:15Speaker 4: Come on now, Drake, all right, we don't think you
- 1:56:18Speaker 4: need to worry.
- 1:56:19Speaker 3: Well, the phone line opened up and it's Kelly in Dallas.
- 1:56:21Speaker 3: What's up, Kelly? Kelvin Turner, Kelvin Kelvin Sorry, yes, all right.
- 1:56:29Speaker 21: Now I'm gonna tell y'all. I'm gonna come down there,
- 1:56:33Speaker 21: and I want to help you. I want to I
- 1:56:35Speaker 21: want to be the stitting head coach. But let me
- 1:56:37Speaker 21: tell you something about Denver.
- 1:56:39Speaker 4: Okay, ca co down.
- 1:56:41Speaker 21: Cow Boys could never beat Denver, even on when Dever
- 1:56:44Speaker 21: was bad. And Dens gonna try to jump ahead of y'all.
- 1:56:49Speaker 21: But what y'all need to do y'all need to put
- 1:56:52Speaker 21: pressure on demmer off face and defense and they line.
- 1:56:56Speaker 10: You keep put.
- 1:56:57Speaker 21: Pressure and let them not score. First, second and fourth quarter,
- 1:57:02Speaker 21: y'all have to score.
- 1:57:04Speaker 3: I like that. Shut them out three quarters. I like
- 1:57:07Speaker 3: our chances.
- 1:57:08Speaker 21: Yeah, yes, shut them out three three quarters and really
- 1:57:12Speaker 21: shut them out on fourth fourth quarters because then it's
- 1:57:16Speaker 21: a steaky team. How they beat U Buffalo that was unbelievable.
- 1:57:23Speaker 21: Then we're trying to come back on you. You have
- 1:57:25Speaker 21: to say the office down, the defense and the line,
- 1:57:29Speaker 21: and then y'all had to put screens and blazes on
- 1:57:31Speaker 21: them all fourth quarters.
- 1:57:33Speaker 3: Okay, okay, because I'm going to pass these You have
- 1:57:40Speaker 3: this in writing, because we'll pass it along the podcast
- 1:57:44Speaker 3: lost shutting the team.
- 1:57:45Speaker 21: Out, Mike, Mike, Mike Greble used to be with the
- 1:57:49Speaker 21: Tennessee Titans.
- 1:57:50Speaker 3: That's it.
- 1:57:50Speaker 21: Yeah, jel Fisher too. Jef Fisher took the Tennessee Titans
- 1:57:57Speaker 21: to the Super Bowl and they lost against a round
- 1:58:00Speaker 21: But I'm gonna tell you, Denver, the Rams you got
- 1:58:05Speaker 21: to do this to do Okay. Yeah, they would jump
- 1:58:09Speaker 21: ahead of you quickly.
- 1:58:13Speaker 4: It sounds like a blueprint to me.
- 1:58:14Speaker 3: Thanks for the call.
- 1:58:15Speaker 6: It's actually been the Patriots. They want to jump in
- 1:58:18Speaker 6: stuff and coming back.
- 1:58:22Speaker 3: In Boston. What's up, Zach?
- 1:58:23Speaker 4: Don't let him score. I've seen Denver win that game
- 1:58:26Speaker 4: twelve times this year.
- 1:58:27Speaker 3: Zach Zack in Boston?
- 1:58:30Speaker 10: Hey, how you doing all right? Hey?
- 1:58:33Speaker 9: Question for you guys.
- 1:58:34Speaker 2: Obviously, Drake had a couple of fumbles and how much
- 1:58:37Speaker 2: do you put.
- 1:58:37Speaker 9: On that on Will Campbell in the line.
- 1:58:40Speaker 12: And then also, do you really think Will Campbell is
- 1:58:42Speaker 12: one hundred percent or do you think he's.
- 1:58:44Speaker 19: Just muscling it through the playoffs?
- 1:58:47Speaker 2: Move over the blow where he's done a really good job.
- 1:58:49Speaker 11: For the time he did start.
- 1:58:51Speaker 3: I mean, listen, one one was a botch play that
- 1:58:53Speaker 3: he dove and got it punched out. That's on him.
- 1:58:55Speaker 3: And the second one the line you know, collapsed but
- 1:58:58Speaker 3: you just can't the ball there.
- 1:59:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I would say two and two. I think that
- 1:59:06Speaker 4: the one where Will Campbell had uh yeah, chip help,
- 1:59:10Speaker 4: like I kind of split the baby there a little bit,
- 1:59:13Speaker 4: like you your internal clock's got to start ticket like
- 1:59:16Speaker 4: you know, the one that Will Anderson blew by Will Campbell,
- 1:59:20Speaker 4: That one is not so I would say like two
- 1:59:24Speaker 4: and a half PFF had it at at two, you know,
- 1:59:27Speaker 4: the one backed up and then the one the punch
- 1:59:30Speaker 4: out on the scramble. I think the one with the
- 1:59:33Speaker 4: chip help like you gotta one Mississippi two Mississippi. Like
- 1:59:38Speaker 4: at some point the ball's got to come out when
- 1:59:40Speaker 4: you know who you're going up against and you're kind
- 1:59:42Speaker 4: of managing It's.
- 1:59:43Speaker 3: Last call Brandon's and Syracuse. What's up? Brandon, Hey, guys.
- 1:59:48Speaker 22: How are we doing today?
- 1:59:49Speaker 4: Good?
- 1:59:51Speaker 11: Very good?
- 1:59:52Speaker 9: So yeah, I'm.
- 1:59:53Speaker 22: From well, from Camden, New York, but I work I
- 1:59:55Speaker 22: work out of Syracuse, and I'll tell you what, being
- 1:59:57Speaker 22: a Patriots span surrounded by a bunch of Bills fans
- 2:00:00Speaker 22: is probably the greatest moment of my life right now. Uh.
- 2:00:04Speaker 22: I'm twenty six right now, So I've been I've been
- 2:00:06Speaker 22: dealing with the Patriots, had a great run for my
- 2:00:08Speaker 22: whole life. But uh, I just wanted to leave you
- 2:00:10Speaker 22: guys off with one couple a couple of things here
- 2:00:13Speaker 22: with the offensive line, I feel very confident about the
- 2:00:15Speaker 22: right side. We're really great. I'm not gonna lie. Jared
- 2:00:18Speaker 22: Wilson and Will Campbell have got me on my toes
- 2:00:22Speaker 22: the past couple of games, but I still have a
- 2:00:24Speaker 22: lot of confidence in them, and I think that Will
- 2:00:26Speaker 22: Campbell can can bounce back. And Drake Maye one hundred
- 2:00:29Speaker 22: percent confident. I think I think he can bounce back.
- 2:00:32Speaker 22: He doesn't let much break him or anything like that.
- 2:00:35Speaker 9: But go Pats.
- 2:00:36Speaker 3: I love your guys, so so Brandon. With all the
- 2:00:38Speaker 3: Bills fans up there, you know, how are their fingers
- 2:00:43Speaker 3: because that window really close shut really hard.
- 2:00:48Speaker 22: Oh yeah, they're they're no, they're sore there. Yeah, listen,
- 2:00:51Speaker 22: I delivered with Tarvana and uh, about everybody that I
- 2:00:55Speaker 22: delivered to is a is a Bills fan, and I'm
- 2:00:57Speaker 22: making know him that I'm a Pats fan. So I
- 2:01:00Speaker 22: get insights from them all the time. So it's it's great.
- 2:01:03Speaker 22: It's been great. The past couple of weeks, they've been

- 2:01:36Speaker 4: after the game and it was giving me his his
- 2:01:40Speaker 4: pitch to go and send him to Denver.
- 2:01:41Speaker 1: And I was like, why are you pitching this tonight?
- 2:01:43Speaker 3: Like he can bring a dog on a plane that's
