Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, the truth about sorority life with
• 0:04
Speaker 1: your hosts, me, Gia Giudice, Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Fessler.
• 0:12
Speaker 1: Welcome back to another episode of Dirty Rush. Sorority recruitment
• 0:15
Speaker 1: is in full swing and so are the outfits. So
• 0:19
Speaker 1: today we have a panel of hand-plucked sorority girls gathered
• 0:24
Speaker 1: to rate them all from the hottest looks to the
• 0:27
  Speaker 1: hottest messes.
• 0:28
Speaker 2: Let's get into it. All right.
• 0:30
Speaker 3: I'm so excited to hear from these girls. With a
• 0:34
Speaker 3: daughter who's coming up in it, I really want to hear,
• 0:37
Speaker 3: not that you don't offer amazing advice, Gia, but I
• 0:40
Speaker 3: feel like I love bringing all these girls in.
• 0:42
  Speaker 4: Hi, Ella.
• 0:43
  Speaker 5: Hello.
• 0:45
  Speaker 6: Hello.
• 0:46
Speaker 4: Where do you go to school?
• 0:47
Speaker 5: I go to San Diego State University. So I'm a
• 0:50
  Speaker 5: junior this year.
• 0:51
Speaker 7: Well, we want to talk to you about what it
• 0:53
Speaker 7: is like to dress up to go to Rush at
• 0:56
Speaker 7: San Diego State University, please.
• 0:59
Speaker 8: Which house are you in?
• 1:00
Speaker 5: I'm in Alpha Phi.
• 1:02
Speaker 1: Well, Ella, I think I'm closest to your age, but
• 1:07
Speaker 1: I went to Rutgers University in Jersey. I don't think
• 1:10
Speaker 1: it was nearly as strict with sorority recruitment and having
• 1:14
Speaker 1: a specific itinerary to follow when it comes to outfits. yes,
• 1:19
Speaker 1: everyone needed to, you know, dress fancy and, you know,
• 1:22
Speaker 1: obviously show up as their best self.
• 1:24
Speaker 2: But what was your first.
• 1:26
Speaker 1: Impression when you went into Rush and how you had
• 1:29
  Speaker 1: to dress?
• 1:30
Speaker 5: I would say, so for my year, it was a
• 1:33
Speaker 5: little bit different because now Panhellenic has transitioned to more
• 1:38
Speaker 5: of traditional Rush rounds where they have girls wear a
• 1:41
Speaker 5: specific shirt. So the Panhellenic Rush shirt that they wear
• 1:46
Speaker 5: for starting off with either A lot of girls choose
• 1:49
Speaker 5: to wear a cute golf skirt with it, cute pair
• 1:52
Speaker 5: of denim, a denim skirt, denim shorts, just anything cute
• 1:56
Speaker 5: with the bottom. A lot of girls usually wear something short, though,
• 1:59
Speaker 5: because it's so hot in San Diego around this time. Like,
• 2:01
  Speaker 5: it's 90... It's yeah, it's 90 today here.
• 2:05
  Speaker 2: It's it's rough.
• 2:06
Speaker 1: So that's for open house round, right? Yes, that was
• 2:10
Speaker 1: the same thing for me. I had to wear a
• 2:11
Speaker 1: T-shirt and I wore jeans because it was the fall
• 2:14
Speaker 1: in Jersey. So you could get away with like wearing
• 2:16
Speaker 1: jeans or a skirt or something.
• 2:19
  Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly. I mean, it's still that's I feel like
• 2:23
Speaker 5: that is the round. The opening round is easiest because
• 2:26
Speaker 5: girls feel the less amount of stress there because they're
• 2:28
Speaker 5: all wearing the same top and they have more fluency
• 2:30
Speaker 5: with their bottoms. It was different for my.
• 2:33
  Speaker 2: PC, though.
• 2:34
Speaker 5: I'm PC24. Because we were online for that first open round.
• 2:40
  Speaker 7: Oh, yes.
• 2:41
Speaker 5: So we had not transitioned back into in-person open rounds.
• 2:45
Speaker 5: So we didn't have shirts. They just told us to
• 2:48
  Speaker 5: wear a comfortable shirt. So I wore... I wore a
• 2:51
Speaker 5: floral tank top and just, you can only see the.
• 2:55
Speaker 2: Upper half of me.
• 2:56
Speaker 5: So a lot of girls were on the zoom and
• 2:58
Speaker 5: found out this afterwards, but a lot of girls were
• 3:00
Speaker 5: on the zoom wearing a cute top and then sweatpants
• 3:02
  Speaker 5: at the bottom.
• 3:03
Speaker 2: Cause you couldn't see.
• 3:04
Speaker 8: It's like newscasters that do that.
• 3:05
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 3:06
Speaker 4: Or like me today.
• 3:08
  Speaker 2: Right.
• 3:08
Speaker 8: I was just going to say, or any of us.
• 3:12
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 3:12
Speaker 5: You could never tell, but if I stood up, I'd you,
• 3:15
  Speaker 5: I was wearing a, I remember I was wearing a
• 3:18
Speaker 5: white floral shirt. And if I stood up, I was
• 3:20
Speaker 5: wearing these bright pink sweatshirts. And if you just like
• 3:24
Speaker 5: saw me stand up, you'd think like, what's going on here?
• 3:29
Speaker 5: But yes, there's, there's a lot of fluency with the
• 3:32
Speaker 5: opening round. Every girl wears the same t-shirt going in
• 3:35
Speaker 5: and it changes every year, the design. It's always super
• 3:37
Speaker 5: cute though. Very cute. Our Panhellenic team here does a
• 3:41
Speaker 5: great job. So those girls wear those tops. And then
• 3:45
Speaker 5: we start going into the phyllo round. And that's when
• 3:48
Speaker 5: it starts to transition to essentially getting fancier as it goes.
• 3:55
Speaker 9: What did that stand for? You said phyllo?
• 3:58
  Speaker 5: Ah, sorry.
• 4:01
  Speaker 2: No, it's fine.
• 4:02
  Speaker 5: It's fine.
• 4:03
Speaker 3: You just talk to us like we are children because.
• 4:07
Speaker 2: We haven't done this.
• 4:07
Speaker 8: For a really long time.
• 4:10
Speaker 5: It's I'm so used and this is not something I had.
• 4:13
Speaker 5: I was so used to people having, you know, an
• 4:18
Speaker 5: awareness of Greek life terms. And I didn't know any
• 4:22
Speaker 5: of them when I was going through it because none
• 4:24
Speaker 5: of my family went through Rush. No one was, it
• 4:27
Speaker 5: was my first time. I didn't know anything. So when
• 4:30
Speaker 5: people were saying these things like philo.
• 4:32
  Speaker 2: I was like, what's philo?
• 4:34
  Speaker 5: What's philanthropy?
• 4:35
  Speaker 8: It's like a flaky pastry.
• 4:38
  Speaker 2: Yes.
• 4:39
Speaker 5: And then when I was told what philanthropy essentially is
• 4:41
Speaker 5: for each sorority, I was like, okay, so this is
• 4:43
Speaker 5: nothing like what I thought it was. But it's still,
• 4:48
Speaker 5: then usually for that round, girls will Which is good
• 4:52
Speaker 5: about our school is a lot of sororities will put
• 4:56
Speaker 5: up inspiration boards on social media platforms because it makes
• 5:02
Speaker 5: it way more helpful for girls because they have each
• 5:05
Speaker 5: other through it to talk about what they want to
• 5:08
Speaker 5: wear or ask if it looks like something that they
• 5:13
Speaker 5: ask if they think it's appropriate. You know, girls just
• 5:16
Speaker 5: want a little bit of validation to help feel more confident.
• 5:19
Speaker 5: But then being able to see a vision board made
• 5:22
Speaker 5: by chapters for girls, it's just so much more helpful.
• 5:26
Speaker 5: And seeing it now happen and seeing my chapter post
• 5:31
Speaker 5: them makes me happy because I can already tell if
• 5:34
Speaker 5: I was going through Rush again, it would be so
• 5:36
  Speaker 5: helpful for me.
• 5:37
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 5:37
Speaker 3: So do you feel like there's a big range? We
• 5:40
Speaker 3: were just talking about this, like how, you know, Down south,
• 5:44
Speaker 3: SEC schools are very love shack fancy and big poofy
• 5:48
Speaker 3: bows and all of that.
• 5:49
  Speaker 2: Kind of stuff.
• 5:49
Speaker 3: I feel like SDSU is probably a little more casual.
• 5:53
Speaker 3: But within SDSU, do you feel like there's a giant
• 5:58
Speaker 3: range between the sororities or are you all kind of similar?
• 6:03
  Speaker 5: I'd say there's a giant range. And from what I've
• 6:06
Speaker 5: noticed recruiting last year, a lot of girls had their
• 6:10
  Speaker 5: own individual style.
• 6:12
  Speaker 3: Yes.
• 6:13
Speaker 4: So happy to hear that.
• 6:14
Speaker 5: And it was just so cool. I would get inspiration
• 6:18
Speaker 5: off these girls. They'd wear these cute little belts or jewelry.
• 6:21
Speaker 5: And I was just like, I love this. You know,
• 6:23
Speaker 5: I like how girls are all inspired off each other.
• 6:25
Speaker 5: And if they want to wear similar outfits, that's perfectly okay.
• 6:29
Speaker 5: Whatever makes you comfortable. But when you can clearly tell
• 6:32
Speaker 5: a girl has created this perfect outfit she's confident in,
• 6:37
Speaker 5: it's just, that's what I love to see because it shows,
• 6:40
Speaker 5: you know, there's no set style here.
• 6:43
Speaker 4: Are there any brands though?
• 6:44
Speaker 7: Like, are there any brands that you think are getting
• 6:46
Speaker 7: worn more right now this year?
• 6:48
Speaker 4: Is there anything you're seeing a lot of?
• 6:50
Speaker 5: I would definitely say addicted. Addicted has been on the
• 6:54
Speaker 5: rise recently these past two to three years.
• 6:57
  Speaker 2: And that's awesome.
• 6:58
Speaker 1: I mean, addicted is very like, well priced, very, very, yeah,
• 7:04
  Speaker 1: very affordable.
• 7:05
Speaker 3: They even have them at Urban Outfitters.
• 7:06
Speaker 5: They do. Yes. I went into Urban Outfitters the other
• 7:10
Speaker 5: day and they had a nice collection too. And what
• 7:12
Speaker 5: I like about it as well is they have sales.
• 7:15
Speaker 5: It's a bunch of different styles. They have crochet clothing.
• 7:19
Speaker 5: They have... cute sparkly dresses.
• 7:21
Speaker 7: I only know about it because I see it on
• 7:24
Speaker 7: our credit card bills.
• 7:27
  Speaker 4: It just says.
• 7:27
Speaker 7: Anyway, listen, Ella, thank you so much for joining us.
• 7:35
  Speaker 2: Of course.
• 7:36
Speaker 5: Thank you so much.
• 7:37
  Speaker 2: Okay guys.
• 7:38
Speaker 7: So let's actually bring in a boutique owner. So an
• 7:41
Speaker 7: expert in this space, let's bring in Kelly.
• 7:44
  Speaker 6: Hi. Hi.
• 7:44
Speaker 3: Thank you for joining us.
• 7:47
Speaker 5: Thanks for having me.
• 7:49
Speaker 1: I think it's so smart, especially when you have a
• 7:52
Speaker 1: cute boutique on campus. My sister goes to University of
• 7:56
Speaker 1: Michigan and they have this cutest boutique. Whenever I go
• 7:59
Speaker 1: and visit her, I spend a pretty penny there because
• 8:02
Speaker 1: they do. But it's so smart because when you go
• 8:06
Speaker 1: to school and you don't have a boutique around, I
• 8:09
Speaker 1: feel like you're constantly doing online shopping. But it's nice
• 8:12
Speaker 1: to actually have a cute boutique near your campus and
• 8:16
Speaker 1: on site. that you can walk to and just have
• 8:19
  Speaker 1: the accessibility to.
• 8:21
  Speaker 2: I love it.
• 8:22
Speaker 4: So what are you selling out of Kelly? Like what's
• 8:24
Speaker 4: big for rushes here? So big for rush.
• 8:27
Speaker 9: So I don't know if everyone's aware, but like for Arizona,
• 8:30
Speaker 9: it's a very different style than the traditional rush talk
• 8:34
Speaker 9: Southern style that we all know and love. So none
• 8:39
Speaker 9: of that preppy style is really seen for Arizona and,
• 8:43
Speaker 9: We are very much more aligned with LA, New York styles.
• 8:48
Speaker 9: Very simple, seeing a lot of lace trim selling really well.
• 8:53
Speaker 9: Just these little satin dresses that have lace trim around
• 8:56
Speaker 9: the bust, colorful satin, not seeing a lot of prints.
• 9:01
Speaker 9: You'd be surprised at how no florals are selling this year.
• 9:05
  Speaker 1: Just very simple.
• 9:07
Speaker 9: Form fitting. And then the color palette is super fun.
• 9:11
Speaker 9: It's like, butter yellow, baby pink, mint, teals, and aquas.
• 9:16
Speaker 9: So it looks like a candy store.
• 9:18
  Speaker 2: It's very new.
• 9:20
  Speaker 6: Easter.
• 9:20
  Speaker 5: Easter Sunday.
• 9:21
Speaker 9: Still very hot here. So you're not really seeing any
• 9:24
Speaker 9: darker colors or anything like that.
• 9:26
  Speaker 2: Nice.
• 9:27
Speaker 3: Are there any brands that you're selling out of or
• 9:30
Speaker 3: that have been really popular?
• 9:32
Speaker 9: So we do have some more premium brands like Guzio
• 9:36
Speaker 9: and stuff. So there's like this cute little polka dot
• 9:38
Speaker 9: set that some people are buying for sisterhood, but As
• 9:43
Speaker 9: far as our brands, we sell a lot of L.A.
• 9:45
Speaker 9: brands that you don't really buy online. So they're more
• 9:47
Speaker 9: affordable for college students, $ 50 to $ 60 for a dress. Awesome.
• 9:53
Speaker 9: Some of those brands are more like Cotton Candy, Olivacious.
• 9:56
Speaker 9: You wouldn't really know. Some of them you can't actually
• 9:58
  Speaker 9: shop online.
• 9:59
  Speaker 5: They are wholesale.
• 10:00
Speaker 4: Only so they can't go to your do you have
• 10:02
  Speaker 4: a website.
• 10:03
Speaker 9: We do not because we are so slammed busy like
• 10:07
Speaker 9: i can't even keep up with inventory.
• 10:10
Speaker 8: That's great good for you good problem to have you don't.
• 10:12
Speaker 7: Even need us to push you what about heels do
• 10:15
Speaker 7: the girl i mean they have to walk so they're
• 10:16
  Speaker 7: so long.
• 10:17
Speaker 4: Are they wearing heels Yes.
• 10:19
  Speaker 5: Kitten heels.
• 10:19
Speaker 4: We have sold out.
• 10:20
Speaker 5: We have a little like a flip flop wedge.
• 10:24
Speaker 2: The flip flop wads are huge.
• 10:26
Speaker 9: Selling out like crazy.
• 10:28
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 10:28
  Speaker 7: You know, it's just, it's a, it's a strange thing.
• 10:30
Speaker 7: We're talking about how much it matters, right? What you
• 10:34
Speaker 7: wear and how great it is. If you know, you
• 10:37
Speaker 7: can actually, you know, show your style and showcase a
• 10:39
Speaker 7: little bit of who you are through your fashion. And
• 10:42
Speaker 7: is that hard? Is it not that hard? And you're
• 10:45
  Speaker 7: saying there's a U of A girl look, right? That
• 10:49
  Speaker 7: you're trying to, I guess, move towards, but it's a
• 10:53
  Speaker 7: lot of pressure.
• 10:54
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 10:55
Speaker 9: I mean, I think every young girl faces a lot
• 10:57
Speaker 9: of pressure just with the social media world. But I mean,
• 11:01
Speaker 9: our sort of shtick at our store is like, you
• 11:03
Speaker 9: feel like you're shopping with a friend. All of my
• 11:05
Speaker 9: sales associates, most of them have gone through rush themselves.
• 11:09
Speaker 9: They're active members. So these girls will come in, they're nervous.
• 11:14
Speaker 9: They look like deer in headlights.
• 11:15
  Speaker 2: I don't know what I'm doing.
• 11:16
Speaker 9: I don't know what to wear. And my girls just
• 11:18
Speaker 9: like walk them through the process. We even have like
• 11:21
Speaker 9: these big posters in our stores that say like what
• 11:24
Speaker 9: to wear for each day.
• 11:25
  Speaker 2: Oh, awesome.
• 11:28
Speaker 5: It's items that are in. So then you can go
• 11:31
Speaker 5: find it. We walk them through.
• 11:32
  Speaker 6: Okay.
• 11:32
Speaker 9: Do you have your dress this day? And then they
• 11:35
Speaker 9: try it on. They actually come out of the fitting
• 11:36
Speaker 9: room and show us. And we're like, yes, like, That's
• 11:39
Speaker 9: the one. And then even if they don't buy anything,
• 11:41
Speaker 9: they just leave feeling so much more confident, relaxed.
• 11:45
Speaker 5: You can see them relax.
• 11:47
Speaker 4: Can you dress them for like different sorority houses?
• 11:49
Speaker 7: Like if you want, you know, if you want to be,
• 11:53
Speaker 7: I don't know, a DG or like, are there different looks.
• 11:56
  Speaker 4: For different houses?
• 11:57
  Speaker 5: I wouldn't say so.
• 11:58
Speaker 9: There's just more like for the feel around, they get
• 12:00
Speaker 9: a t-shirt. So we we buy like skirts that will
• 12:04
Speaker 9: go with that t-shirt. It has a pop of red
• 12:06
Speaker 9: this year. So we have all these red.
• 12:08
Speaker 2: Skirts that are selling out.
• 12:09
Speaker 9: And then we still like, okay, now for your sisterhood look,
• 12:12
Speaker 9: this is what we'd recommend. Now for pref, there's like
• 12:14
Speaker 9: long or short and here's our recommendations.
• 12:18
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's great. You're offering a great service, not just clothing,
• 12:22
Speaker 3: but I feel like you're helping them be able to
• 12:24
Speaker 3: get through the process.
• 12:25
  Speaker 2: So good job.
• 12:28
Speaker 4: Thank you so much, Kelly.
• 12:30
  Speaker 5: Thanks so much.
• 12:46
Speaker 4: All right, you guys. So let's bring in our next
• 12:49
  Speaker 4: sorority girl.
• 12:50
  Speaker 8: Hi, Izzy.
• 12:52
  Speaker 2: Hi.
• 12:52
  Speaker 10: Hi.
• 12:53
Speaker 7: We're talking about fashion and Rush. And are you going
• 12:57
Speaker 7: through Rush? What year are you?
• 13:00
Speaker 11: I actually just graduated in May, but I went to
• 13:03
Speaker 11: the University of Georgia and I rushed there and was
• 13:06
Speaker 11: in a sorority for all four years.
• 13:08
Speaker 4: So what are the girls at University of Georgia wearing
• 13:11
  Speaker 4: for Rush?
• 13:12
Speaker 2: Mostly like springy jeans.
• 13:14
Speaker 11: Floral dresses, kind of some of the cliches with the
• 13:18
Speaker 11: ruffles and heels and all that stuff. But also you
• 13:22
Speaker 11: can totally wear like comfortable sneakers and just definitely want
• 13:25
Speaker 11: to err on the side of modest. You don't want
• 13:28
Speaker 11: to be like flashing anybody at rush, but there's no
• 13:31
Speaker 11: strict rules and it's not super crazy at all.
• 13:35
  Speaker 4: That's interesting.
• 13:35
Speaker 7: I mean, we're talking to a few people today and
• 13:38
Speaker 7: it just, it sounds like there is a different feel.
• 13:41
Speaker 4: There are different feels at different schools, right?
• 13:44
  Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
• 13:44
  Speaker 3: Right.
• 13:45
Speaker 4: So, so at Georgia, it's more, it is a little
• 13:48
Speaker 4: more florally, ruffly, modest.
• 13:52
  Speaker 9: Yeah. Yeah.
• 13:53
  Speaker 4: Southern girl.
• 13:54
Speaker 11: Anything you could just walk into a boutique in the
• 13:56
Speaker 11: summer and find something to wear there. Nothing too crazy
• 13:59
Speaker 11: and definitely not too strict. And it also depends on
• 14:03
Speaker 11: what kind of sorority you're looking for. Like each one
• 14:05
Speaker 11: kind of has a different identity and you just want
• 14:08
Speaker 11: to wear what you're comfortable in and you'll find the
• 14:11
  Speaker 11: right one.
• 14:12
  Speaker 4: I have a question.
• 14:15
Speaker 3: Do you feel like, I don't know what sorority we're
• 14:18
Speaker 3: in and you don't need to say, but is their fashion,
• 14:23
Speaker 3: would it play a part in whether or not they
• 14:26
Speaker 3: get asked back? Like if they show up in this
• 14:29
Speaker 3: outfit that is just not your style or stands out
• 14:36
Speaker 3: in a negative way or does kind of flash somebody,
• 14:40
Speaker 3: you know what I mean? Would anyone be I don't
• 14:44
Speaker 3: know what the word is, cut from the next round,
• 14:46
Speaker 3: depending on their fashion.
• 14:48
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 14:49
Speaker 11: I mean, I was in, I was in Kappa Delta,
• 14:51
Speaker 11: which has like a reputation for being a lot of
• 14:54
Speaker 11: out of state girls.
• 14:55
Speaker 2: And I am from New Jersey. I'm not super Southern
• 14:57
  Speaker 2: at all.
• 14:57
Speaker 11: Like going to Georgia in itself was kind of a
• 15:00
Speaker 11: culture shock, but I knew that I wasn't going to
• 15:04
Speaker 11: dress super Southern with the ruffles and like huge shoes
• 15:08
Speaker 11: and stuff and pretend that I was someone that I'm
• 15:10
Speaker 11: not like, I just wore, what I liked and more,
• 15:13
Speaker 11: more simple dresses and whatever I was comfortable in. And like,
• 15:18
Speaker 11: you can pick up on that when you're rushing someone
• 15:20
Speaker 11: and see if they're like being authentic or if they're
• 15:23
Speaker 11: dressing comfortably or if they're like trying to fit a
• 15:27
Speaker 11: mold to fit a certain sorority. So if you like
• 15:31
Speaker 11: wore something that we didn't like, we wouldn't, it's not
• 15:33
Speaker 11: like we're going to drop you because we don't like
• 15:35
  Speaker 11: your outfit.
• 15:35
Speaker 2: Like, yeah, it's more about personality and alignment.
• 15:39
  Speaker 9: Okay, good.
• 15:40
Speaker 7: I mean, if you walk into Rush wearing grunge and
• 15:44
Speaker 7: like your style is, you know, how's that going to
• 15:46
  Speaker 7: go over?
• 15:47
Speaker 1: And do you think designer has anything to do with it?
• 15:51
  Speaker 2: I don't think so.
• 15:51
Speaker 11: I know all those TikToks of the outfits with the
• 15:55
  Speaker 11: nice jewelry.
• 15:56
Speaker 1: Because I get it, girls at Bama. And, you know,
• 15:59
Speaker 1: some people like do show up and want to wear
• 16:03
Speaker 1: a designer bag or their jewelry. But I just remember
• 16:05
Speaker 1: when I was rushing, like, I went to Rutgers. So
• 16:08
Speaker 1: being from New Jersey, I'm sure you know.
• 16:10
Speaker 2: But I mean, no one cared about that at least.
• 16:15
Speaker 1: And listen, I'm sure you can do it if that's
• 16:18
Speaker 1: your personality and if that's what you love and if
• 16:20
Speaker 1: that's how you want to style yourself.
• 16:21
Speaker 2: I don't think anyone is going to knock you for it.
• 16:24
Speaker 1: But I also don't think it's... going to make or
• 16:26
Speaker 1: break whether you're going to be in the sorority or not.
• 16:29
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 16:30
Speaker 12: I feel like it shows like a little self-confidence if
• 16:32
Speaker 12: you are brave enough to come looking a little different.
• 16:34
Speaker 12: I do want to know, like talking about coming, looking
• 16:36
Speaker 12: a little different. I remember I came to preference with
• 16:38
Speaker 12: this exact same dress as another girl and I was
• 16:41
Speaker 12: so embarrassed. And so was she, we both ended up
• 16:44
Speaker 12: in DG together and she was one of my good friends.
• 16:46
Speaker 12: But do you remember people coming in the same dress?
• 16:50
Speaker 12: And is that like a thing, especially we just talked
• 16:52
Speaker 12: to a boutique owner and And a lot of people
• 16:54
Speaker 12: are shopping at her boutique for Rush.
• 16:57
Speaker 8: Do you think it's an issue? If two girls came
• 16:59
Speaker 8: in the same dress, would you notice?
• 17:01
Speaker 11: You might notice if they're in the same room sitting
• 17:05
Speaker 11: next to each other, but it's not like you care.
• 17:07
Speaker 11: Like there are thousands of girls going through Rush. You're
• 17:10
Speaker 11: bound to have repeat dresses sometimes. It's really not a
• 17:14
Speaker 11: big deal at all.
• 17:15
Speaker 4: So Izzy, thank you so much for joining us.
• 17:17
Speaker 2: Of course. Thanks for having me. Hi, Rachel. How are you? Good.
• 17:21
Speaker 6: How are you guys?
• 17:22
  Speaker 4: You're great.
• 17:23
  Speaker 2: Thank you.
• 17:24
Speaker 4: We're talking about rush and fashion.
• 17:27
Speaker 2: What year are you?
• 17:29
Speaker 6: Yeah. So I'm a senior, which is crazy.
• 17:32
Speaker 3: Which sorority are you in?
• 17:34
Speaker 6: I'm in Alpha Phi.
• 17:35
  Speaker 5: Okay.
• 17:36
  Speaker 3: Got it.
• 17:36
  Speaker 2: Awesome.
• 17:37
Speaker 3: We just had one of your sorority sisters talking as well.
• 17:40
  Speaker 6: Ella.
• 17:40
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 17:42
Speaker 8: And where do you go to school?
• 17:44
  Speaker 6: San Diego state.
• 17:45
Speaker 4: Well, Trista's hoping to send her daughter.
• 17:47
  Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
• 17:48
Speaker 3: My daughter is a senior in high school right now.
• 17:51
Speaker 3: And SDSU is, uh, probably her top school. And so
• 17:56
Speaker 3: when I saw that two of you from SDSU were
• 17:58
Speaker 3: coming on the pod to talk, I was.
• 17:59
Speaker 5: Like, yay, I get some inside scoop.
• 18:01
Speaker 3: Like I'm just being selfish right now, but I'm so
• 18:04
Speaker 3: excited to talk to you. We'd love to just hear
• 18:07
Speaker 3: about SDSU and if it is really strict or, you know,
• 18:13
Speaker 3: we talked to Ella about the, which I don't even
• 18:18
Speaker 3: know how to say it still.
• 18:19
  Speaker 2: Philo week? Philo?
• 18:22
Speaker 5: People say it differently.
• 18:25
  Speaker 4: That's it.
• 18:26
Speaker 3: So I'm just learning about all of these things. Haven't
• 18:29
Speaker 3: rushed for a really long time. I was an Alpha
• 18:32
Speaker 3: Chi at Indiana. So I know a lot has changed,
• 18:35
Speaker 3: but with the daughter coming up for rush next year,
• 18:38
Speaker 3: I'm trying to get info on all of the things.
• 18:42
Speaker 3: So can you just talk to us a little bit
• 18:43
Speaker 3: about SDSU Rush and about the fashion in particular and
• 18:49
Speaker 3: if it's strict or if they have any guidelines for
• 18:51
Speaker 3: you and if people follow them?
• 18:53
Speaker 6: Yeah. So in the summer, typically most of the sororities
• 18:59
Speaker 6: and the Panhellenic account on Instagram will post like outfit
• 19:02
Speaker 6: guides of what each PNM likes for them to get
• 19:06
Speaker 6: an idea of what they should be wearing to each round.
• 19:10
Speaker 6: So typically you can kind of really show your style
• 19:14
Speaker 6: either way. But they just started doing, they didn't do
• 19:17
Speaker 6: this my year, but they started doing like a Panhellenic shirt,
• 19:21
Speaker 6: which they do at a lot of Southern schools where
• 19:23
Speaker 6: you wear the Panhellenic, SDSU Panhellenic shirt the first few rounds.
• 19:28
Speaker 6: And then I'm pretty sure for like sisterhood and preference
• 19:32
Speaker 6: and those kinds of rounds, you can, you wear a dress,
• 19:35
Speaker 6: you can pick whatever dress, preferably something that, you know,
• 19:38
Speaker 6: you're comfortable in. can be yourself in and if they're
• 19:41
Speaker 6: really not super picky, but I will say like It
• 19:46
Speaker 6: is San Diego State. So California fashion definitely has its
• 19:49
Speaker 6: own own different vibe yeah a certain vibe like a
• 19:55
Speaker 6: California vibe I'm born and raised in California so I'm
• 19:59
Speaker 6: definitely like a California girl but when it comes to
• 20:02
Speaker 6: dresses it's kind of very there's a different range of
• 20:07
Speaker 6: all types of dresses that you'll see in recruitment Um,
• 20:11
Speaker 6: you could be, you could dress like a Southern belle, honestly,
• 20:14
Speaker 6: and there could still be, you know, different types of,
• 20:19
Speaker 6: all different types of, um, colors. Like, it really doesn't matter. Um,
• 20:23
Speaker 6: but I feel like a lot of girls style it
• 20:24
Speaker 6: up with, like, jewelry, um, definitely accessories. I remember for Rush,
• 20:29
Speaker 6: when I, um, was going through Rush, I had my
• 20:34
Speaker 6: nails done a certain way. So I had, like, chrome
• 20:37
Speaker 6: in my nails because I wanted them to, like, ask
• 20:39
Speaker 6: me about that or, like, I wanted, like, something to
• 20:41
Speaker 6: talk about with the girls because I was, like, terrified.
• 20:45
Speaker 6: I will say that when going into recruitment at SDSU,
• 20:48
Speaker 6: it can be very, very intimidating. I have heard that
• 20:52
Speaker 6: compared to a lot of other schools, our school can
• 20:54
Speaker 6: be very intense with.
• 20:56
  Speaker 4: Oh, really?
• 20:56
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 20:57
Speaker 4: Oh, Trista. Trista's going to, like.
• 20:59
  Speaker 3: I'm like, no!
• 21:03
  Speaker 6: Oh, no.
• 21:03
Speaker 5: Only I will say, like.
• 21:05
Speaker 6: just because San Diego State is a very social, like,
• 21:09
Speaker 6: we have a very social Greek life, so as long
• 21:11
Speaker 6: as people going through Rush, as long as you're someone
• 21:14
Speaker 6: who's sociable and, like, can talk to people, you'll be fine. Like,
• 21:17
Speaker 6: this is what I tell anyone that was, like, that
• 21:18
Speaker 6: will ask me, like, if you can talk to people
• 21:21
Speaker 6: and you can hold a conversation and, like, I don't know,
• 21:25
Speaker 6: not be, like, boring per se. Yeah, totally. You'll be
• 21:29
  Speaker 6: totally fine.
• 21:31
Speaker 3: Well, I have a follow up question for that. If
• 21:33
Speaker 3: you have like resting bitch face.
• 21:37
Speaker 5: I think a lot of people do. So I don't think.
• 21:42
  Speaker 6: I do.
• 21:42
  Speaker 5: It happens.
• 21:43
  Speaker 10: I know.
• 21:44
  Speaker 5: Me too.
• 21:44
  Speaker 6: Me too. I don't think I don't think they'll they'll
• 21:49
Speaker 6: take off like points for that.
• 21:51
  Speaker 3: Okay, good.
• 21:55
Speaker 12: So do you think that like if a girl comes
• 21:58
Speaker 12: through and she has a really unique style, do you
• 22:01
Speaker 12: think that shows like confidence and maybe you'd be more
• 22:03
Speaker 12: likely to like pass around to the next round? Or
• 22:06
Speaker 12: do you think like being kind of homogeneous and making
• 22:08
Speaker 12: sure they blend in and kind of match the style
• 22:11
Speaker 12: of your sorority is more important?
• 22:12
Speaker 6: I think being unique definitely gives like a topic of conversation.
• 22:16
Speaker 6: Like I said, how I like kind of tried to
• 22:18
Speaker 6: like put some unique stuff into my outfits when I
• 22:21
Speaker 6: was rushing because I did watch like a lot of
• 22:24
Speaker 6: advice videos before I went in. Um, but yeah, honestly,
• 22:28
Speaker 6: I don't think as my experience doing both, um, like
• 22:32
Speaker 6: being recruited and also being a recruiter, um, we don't
• 22:37
Speaker 6: really like discriminate against any type of specific outfits. Like I,
• 22:42
Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure I tried to blend in a little
• 22:44
Speaker 6: bit too, but also kind of unique pop to it.
• 22:46
Speaker 6: But I will say like the unique outfits really were like, wow,
• 22:49
Speaker 6: like we see a girl walk in and she's wearing
• 22:51
Speaker 6: like some like something we've never seen before or has
• 22:54
Speaker 6: her hair styled in a way that we're like wow
• 22:56
Speaker 6: that's that's cool yeah we'll definitely like ask them about
• 23:00
Speaker 6: that and it gives us something to talk about and
• 23:03
Speaker 6: yeah it's I love seeing unique outfits um but it
• 23:06
Speaker 6: definitely like not to um discriminate against people that dress
• 23:11
Speaker 6: like to fit in because it's definitely it can be
• 23:13
Speaker 6: like a an environment where you're like I have to
• 23:15
Speaker 6: fit in with all.
• 23:16
Speaker 8: These other girls and like it's super intimidating right yeah.
• 23:20
Speaker 6: Girls are like, I don't want to wear something that
• 23:23
Speaker 6: they may like or may not like. Honestly, the truth is,
• 23:27
Speaker 6: I think that it's great when people dress unique because
• 23:29
Speaker 6: it really shows who they are and then they will
• 23:31
Speaker 6: end up where they're supposed to be.
• 23:33
Speaker 8: I totally agree with you.
• 23:34
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 23:35
Speaker 12: What do you think about the amount of money that
• 23:38
Speaker 12: people are spending these days?
• 23:40
  Speaker 5: On their outfits.
• 23:41
Speaker 12: So like, I, there's a, like a little part of me,
• 23:43
Speaker 12: we did a podcast last week about how much people
• 23:45
Speaker 12: are spending on their dorm rooms. I think maybe we're
• 23:47
Speaker 12: losing track of why we're in college a little bit, or,
• 23:50
Speaker 12: or do you think this is like, you know, like
• 23:52
Speaker 12: a great way to show who you are and like,
• 23:54
Speaker 12: you know, have your personality come out right in the
• 23:56
Speaker 12: first couple of weeks of school?
• 23:58
  Speaker 6: That's a great question. I think that, um, since I,
• 24:01
Speaker 6: I lived in Texas for a little bit, so I
• 24:02
Speaker 6: know a lot of people that went through rush in
• 24:03
Speaker 6: the South. Um, I know a lot of people in
• 24:05
Speaker 6: sororities down like Texas in the South, compared to and
• 24:08
Speaker 6: then also here on the on the west coast. And
• 24:10
Speaker 6: I will say in the south, it's very intense when
• 24:14
Speaker 6: it comes to how much money you're spending on your outfit. Honestly,
• 24:17
Speaker 6: the more money you're spending, it seems like the better
• 24:21
Speaker 6: it is for the outfit out there. Like it's it
• 24:24
Speaker 6: seems definitely a lot more intense at San Diego State.
• 24:28
Speaker 6: Like I'm pretty sure I wore like I'm exposing myself here,
• 24:32
  Speaker 6: but I wore a dress that's like a dupe of
• 24:34
Speaker 6: like a really expensive dress because you have to buy.
• 24:37
Speaker 6: I feel like you have to buy like kind of
• 24:39
Speaker 6: a good amount because we didn't have that year. So
• 24:43
  Speaker 6: I bought a few outfits and I didn't want to
• 24:45
Speaker 6: spend like a whole lot of money on it. But
• 24:47
Speaker 6: I wanted to just look good and like feel myself.
• 24:50
Speaker 6: But honestly, yeah, I think it's a way less intense
• 24:53
Speaker 6: with how much you're spending like out here at SDSU.
• 24:56
Speaker 6: But in the South, like, it seems like a topic
• 24:58
Speaker 6: of conversation where, you know, you do the OOTDs and
• 25:02
Speaker 6: you're like, this is from here, this is from there.
• 25:04
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like, who can say the most name brands?
• 25:09
Speaker 8: Yeah, Hermes more than anybody else.
• 25:11
Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly. Like, we don't really care how much... your
• 25:16
Speaker 6: bracelet costed or how much your earrings are. We care
• 25:21
Speaker 6: like who you are.
• 25:21
Speaker 5: And I love that.
• 25:24
Speaker 8: It's such a good place for Blakeslee.
• 25:27
  Speaker 1: I'm so happy.
• 25:27
Speaker 3: I was just going to say, okay, alpha fee is
• 25:29
  Speaker 3: on the list.
• 25:33
Speaker 6: I feel like I'm very proud of my school and
• 25:34
Speaker 6: like Greek life at my school. Not to say that
• 25:37
Speaker 6: other schools are doing it wrong.
• 25:39
  Speaker 11: Right.
• 25:40
  Speaker 9: Of course.
• 25:40
Speaker 6: In some ways, school societies and some environments, it's not
• 25:46
Speaker 6: as inclusive and, like, can be very cutthroat. And, like,
• 25:50
Speaker 6: I don't think money should be a problem, like, or, like,
• 25:53
Speaker 6: a factor of whether you're going to get in the
• 25:55
  Speaker 6: sorority or not.
• 25:56
  Speaker 13: Totally.
• 25:57
  Speaker 2: It's, like, insane.
• 25:58
Speaker 6: To me but it it is the reality especially like
• 26:01
Speaker 6: Alabama or places like that where they really are like
• 26:04
Speaker 6: hmm what are you wearing like oh where's your dress
• 26:07
Speaker 6: from and then you say brand and they're like okay
• 26:10
  Speaker 6: oh like.
• 26:12
Speaker 1: Totally Okay, guys, now we have Bailey.
• 26:29
Speaker 2: Hi, Bailey. How are you?
• 26:32
  Speaker 1: Good.
• 26:32
  Speaker 8: How are you?
• 26:33
Speaker 2: Good. So where do you go to school? I go
• 26:36
Speaker 2: to Ole Miss. Oh, very fun.
• 26:39
Speaker 10: Yes, it's so fun.
• 26:41
Speaker 8: It's good to have a Down south, girl.
• 26:44
Speaker 1: Yeah, we're kind of on the topic of, you know,
• 26:48
Speaker 1: sorority rush and what the girls are wearing nowadays during,
• 26:54
Speaker 1: you know, recruitment and the rush process. I think, especially
• 26:59
Speaker 1: where it's viral on TikTok, so a lot of the
• 27:01
Speaker 1: schools down south tend to.
• 27:03
  Speaker 2: Be a little.
• 27:04
Speaker 1: I guess, focused on the name brands that they're wearing and,
• 27:09
Speaker 1: you know, a little bit more pinpointed to that for
• 27:13
Speaker 1: what they want to wear for during their rounds of Rush.
• 27:16
Speaker 1: But coming from Ole Miss, do you feel like that
• 27:21
Speaker 1: is as important and that's kind of what girls are
• 27:24
  Speaker 1: focusing on?
• 27:25
Speaker 2: Or do you think or just give us some insight
• 27:28
  Speaker 2: about that?
• 27:29
Speaker 1: That and what is like the and what girls are
• 27:32
Speaker 1: spending for their rush outfits I.
• 27:34
Speaker 13: Think people definitely like spend a lot like a lot
• 27:37
Speaker 13: of people have super nice like jewelry and like shoes
• 27:39
Speaker 13: and like clothes in general and like a lot of
• 27:42
Speaker 13: girls are wearing like similar brands like there's a lot
• 27:44
Speaker 13: of like Amanda Uprichard like Farm Rio and then obviously
• 27:48
Speaker 13: like more like designer brands like girls are wearing.
• 27:51
Speaker 10: Like Gucci shoes and, like, whatever.
• 27:53
Speaker 13: But I feel like, I mean, people definitely care a
• 27:57
Speaker 13: little bit what you're wearing just in the sense that it's, like,
• 28:00
Speaker 13: you don't want to be, like, too revealing or, like, not, like,
• 28:03
Speaker 13: fancy enough. Like, you don't want to be overly casual for, like,
• 28:06
Speaker 13: the different rounds because they get, like, progressively more fancy,
• 28:10
  Speaker 13: I guess.
• 28:10
Speaker 2: I don't know. Or, like, formal. Yeah, you dress up
• 28:13
  Speaker 2: more and more.
• 28:14
Speaker 13: Yeah, you, like, dress up more, like, the further you, like,
• 28:17
Speaker 13: get through the rounds. But I definitely say that, like,
• 28:20
Speaker 13: standing out or like having something different is honestly like
• 28:23
Speaker 13: now I feel like better than having something like nice.
• 28:26
Speaker 13: Cause so many girls are wearing like the same skirts,
• 28:29
Speaker 13: the same dresses, the same shoes.
• 28:32
Speaker 10: And like, even though they, they may cost.
• 28:34
Speaker 13: A lot more money, it's going to be a lot
• 28:35
Speaker 13: more like memorable and you get more compliments if you're
• 28:38
Speaker 13: wearing something that's like unique.
• 28:40
  Speaker 8: I love that.
• 28:40
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 28:41
Speaker 12: I feel like that, like if everybody looks the same,
• 28:43
Speaker 12: You know, a lot of us, when we dress, it
• 28:45
Speaker 12: kind of, like, reveals our personality. And so if everybody's
• 28:48
Speaker 12: dressing the same, like, are you really getting to know
• 28:51
Speaker 12: the girls that are rushing your house?
• 28:52
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 28:54
Speaker 13: But, yeah, I think a lot of girls, like, end
• 28:56
Speaker 13: up matching with even, like, actives in the house because, like,
• 28:59
Speaker 13: they also wear, like, Once you get further in the rounds, like,
• 29:02
Speaker 13: they also are wearing, like, dresses and shoes and stuff. Like,
• 29:05
Speaker 13: nice heels or, like, espadrilles or sandals or whatever.
• 29:08
Speaker 10: So, I think that it's also just.
• 29:10
  Speaker 2: Like, better.
• 29:11
Speaker 13: Like, I know for the first rounds, you wear, like,
• 29:14
Speaker 13: shorts or, like, a skirt. But, like, I've seen, like,
• 29:16
Speaker 13: more recently a lot of girls doing, like, longer skirts. Like,
• 29:19
Speaker 13: just that's something different. Or, like, a mini skirt just, like,
• 29:22
Speaker 13: versus wearing just, like, shorts or, like, a mini skirt.
• 29:25
  Speaker 6: Mm-hmm.
• 29:26
Speaker 12: Have you seen anybody like super over the top when
• 29:28
Speaker 12: they walked in? You're like, oh my gosh, what are
• 29:30
  Speaker 12: they wearing?
• 29:31
Speaker 13: I think there's definitely people who do go like really
• 29:35
Speaker 13: like formal or really like out there, like super like puffy,
• 29:39
Speaker 13: like for the first round like t-shirts and then like
• 29:42
Speaker 13: bottom like you pick your bottoms but I've seen people
• 29:45
Speaker 13: wearing like cowboy boots like really like bright like pink
• 29:49
Speaker 13: sparkly cowboy boots or just like super tall like pumps
• 29:52
Speaker 13: that like it's like really cool and unique but maybe
• 29:56
Speaker 13: not the most practical because you are walking around and
• 29:59
Speaker 13: it's like super hot out and everything so it's just
• 30:02
Speaker 13: kind of like funny but a lot of people wear
• 30:04
Speaker 13: like flip-flops and then change like right before you go
• 30:06
Speaker 13: into the house or like slippers because like it's just
• 30:09
Speaker 13: you can't be in that all day when you're like
• 30:10
Speaker 13: walking around and it's 100 degrees and humid but yeah
• 30:14
Speaker 13: people definitely are out there with their outfits.
• 30:16
Speaker 8: Which is fun I rushed in the 80s. I'm very old.
• 30:19
Speaker 12: And I remember, I still remember my feet hurting. I
• 30:22
Speaker 12: went to University of Maryland and it's a very large campus,
• 30:24
Speaker 12: probably like where you go. And I remember like dying
• 30:29
Speaker 12: and thinking, God, I can't do this again tomorrow.
• 30:31
Speaker 8: My feet are dead.
• 30:32
  Speaker 6: I know.
• 30:32
Speaker 13: There's definitely like a lot of people have like band-aids
• 30:35
Speaker 13: in their bags and like the blister like patches.
• 30:38
Speaker 10: So it's definitely just part of it.
• 30:40
Speaker 12: I love that the ballet flats are coming back. So
• 30:42
Speaker 12: maybe that's good for the future.
• 30:44
Speaker 2: They are coming back.
• 30:46
Speaker 1: Well, yeah, because you have to just put them in
• 30:47
Speaker 1: your bag and just as like a safety backup when
• 30:50
Speaker 1: you're like walking around.
• 30:51
Speaker 8: They still look cute.
• 30:52
Speaker 1: But I think that's kind of like the moral of this.
• 30:55
Speaker 1: You know, wherever you go to school, there's obviously girls
• 30:57
Speaker 1: that are going to go over the top and there's
• 30:59
Speaker 1: girls that are going to, you know, maybe not. I
• 31:02
Speaker 1: think whatever you do choose to wear, as long as
• 31:05
Speaker 1: you just, you know, portray your most authentic self while
• 31:09
Speaker 1: also being modest and also trying to, you know, Give
• 31:13
Speaker 1: your best self forward. I think that's like all you
• 31:16
Speaker 1: guys could ask for.
• 31:17
  Speaker 9: Yeah.
• 31:18
Speaker 12: Trending wise, it seems like so. Like I said, I
• 31:21
Speaker 12: went to school in the 80s. It seems like over
• 31:23
Speaker 12: the years and now here we are at 2026 where
• 31:25
Speaker 12: things are really over the top. You think that trend
• 31:28
Speaker 12: is going to continue? Because now I hear from a
• 31:30
Speaker 12: bunch of you girls that they have a T-shirt that
• 31:32
Speaker 12: they wear for at least the beginning rounds. like I
• 31:35
Speaker 12: think that kind of tones things down and it stops
• 31:38
Speaker 12: the ramping up so early in the process. Do you
• 31:40
Speaker 12: think that there's going to be a trend that maybe
• 31:44
Speaker 12: like this over the top expectation is going to be
• 31:48
Speaker 12: like tamped down a little bit?
• 31:49
Speaker 13: I think like maybe, and also especially like people who
• 31:52
Speaker 13: go to California schools, like a lot of my friends
• 31:55
Speaker 13: who go to like, or like even West Coast schools
• 31:57
Speaker 13: in general, like their rush, they wear like denim shorts
• 32:00
Speaker 13: or like even like borderline, like nicer athletic shorts, like,
• 32:05
Speaker 13: to their first days of rush with the t-shirt versus
• 32:08
Speaker 13: like going somewhere more Southern, like no one is wearing
• 32:11
Speaker 13: anything like that. Like everyone's like much more formal, like
• 32:14
Speaker 13: in a nicer mini skirt or like nice, like dressy shorts.
• 32:18
Speaker 13: So I think that it also just like depends where
• 32:20
Speaker 13: you go, but I feel like it is still really
• 32:23
  Speaker 13: important to.
• 32:24
  Speaker 10: Like look formal.
• 32:27
Speaker 13: And I feel like a lot of people like misconstrue
• 32:29
Speaker 13: that with, being expensive rather than like what actually like
• 32:34
Speaker 13: matching the formality is, if that like makes sense.
• 32:37
Speaker 1: And I think a lot of the girls that came
• 32:38
Speaker 1: on today as well were saying that a lot of
• 32:40
Speaker 1: the sororities are now posting mood boards and kind of
• 32:44
Speaker 1: just like little things so people can grab, like grab
• 32:47
Speaker 1: some ideas, see what is expected for each round.
• 32:50
Speaker 2: And I think that's super helpful as well.
• 32:52
  Speaker 10: Yeah, I'd agree.
• 32:53
  Speaker 13: Okay.
• 32:54
Speaker 12: I love the idea of the mood board because you're
• 32:56
Speaker 12: not arriving at on campus with the wrong outfits and
• 32:58
Speaker 12: it's too late at that point. I mean, I guess
• 33:00
Speaker 12: you could, you know, have things rush ordered and delivered.
• 33:03
Speaker 12: But I mean, when do you think the girls start
• 33:06
Speaker 12: shopping for their outfits? Like how soon before they are
• 33:09
Speaker 12: headed to school? When I went to school, we showed
• 33:11
Speaker 12: up with like the stuff we already owned and a comforter.
• 33:14
Speaker 12: So things are so different now.
• 33:17
Speaker 13: I think girls definitely start shopping like super early, like
• 33:21
Speaker 13: for their dorms, probably like right when they get in.
• 33:23
Speaker 13: I know people start like looking for stuff and like
• 33:26
Speaker 13: a lot of people have like monogrammed pillows or like
• 33:28
Speaker 13: monogrammed like jewelry trays, like all that stuff obviously takes
• 33:31
Speaker 13: like longer to come. And some people get like actual
• 33:34
Speaker 13: furniture for their dorm. So like obviously those things have
• 33:38
Speaker 13: longer lead times as well. But for Rush, I think
• 33:42
Speaker 13: it also just depends where you live and like where
• 33:44
Speaker 13: you're coming from. Cause I know people whose parents were
• 33:47
Speaker 13: like super involved and like their moms were like doing
• 33:49
Speaker 13: all the shopping and like, finding all the things. And
• 33:52
Speaker 13: then I know girls who did like rent the runway
• 33:54
Speaker 13: or like newly and just like had never tried it on.
• 33:57
Speaker 2: That's so smart too. Pickle or rent the runway.
• 34:00
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 34:01
Speaker 1: Or any of those rental clothing services, even for handbags
• 34:06
  Speaker 1: as well.
• 34:06
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 34:07
Speaker 2: That is so smart.
• 34:08
Speaker 13: Because you can just get everything you need and like
• 34:10
Speaker 13: not have to, I mean, a lot of this stuff
• 34:12
Speaker 13: you're not going to want to wear again or like
• 34:13
Speaker 13: you might just not have a lot of occasions to
• 34:15
Speaker 13: wear it too again.
• 34:16
  Speaker 10: So yeah, I think it's a range.
• 34:18
Speaker 2: Well, thank you so much. I really appreciate it. Thank
• 34:21
Speaker 2: you for coming on.
• 34:22
Speaker 8: Thank you. You gave us good insight. And what year
• 34:25
  Speaker 8: are you in?
• 34:25
  Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
• 34:26
  Speaker 10: A sophomore.
• 34:27
  Speaker 2: You're a sophomore.
• 34:27
  Speaker 6: Okay.
• 34:28
Speaker 8: Well, good luck this year.
• 34:29
  Speaker 10: Thank you.
• 34:32
Speaker 1: Okay. Well, that was such a great episode of Dirty Rush.
• 34:35
Speaker 1: We got a lot of insight on to how the
• 34:37
Speaker 1: girls should be dressing during Rush. Obviously, some girls, a
• 34:42
Speaker 1: bigger price range than others. But I think we also
• 34:45
Speaker 1: got some really good insight from some of the girls
• 34:48
Speaker 1: on some more realistic ways to get these outfits like
• 34:52
Speaker 1: dupes or even run the runway, which I thought was
• 34:54
Speaker 1: such a good one. But that is it for this
• 34:57
Speaker 1: week's episode of Dirty Rush. Thank you so much for
• 34:59
Speaker 1: joining us this week. Make sure you follow us on
• 35:01
