  Speaker 2: I don't know.
• 6:13
  Speaker 2: Are you ready?
• 6:13

• 6:37
Speaker 3: I knew that David said that.
• 6:39
Speaker 1: See, there's something worthless information you didn't know today.
• 6:41
Speaker 4: David said that he didn't have his mic on.
• 6:42
Speaker 4: We needed to know.
• 6:43
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 6:44
Speaker 2: You should know this.
• 6:45
Speaker 2: He's a fountain of that worthless information.
• 6:47
Speaker 1: Yeah Well, you're the big music man.
• 6:49
Speaker 4: You're the radio guy.
• 6:50
Speaker 1: You're the radio guy, mr Radio Music man, what I can't hear you.
• 6:55
Speaker 2: He's not that old.
• 6:56
Speaker 2: He said you are that old?
• 6:59
Speaker 1: What year were you?
• 7:00
  Speaker 4: born David 1985.
• 7:03
  Speaker 1: Are you serious?
• 7:05
  Speaker 4: You're a liar.
• 7:05
Speaker 4: Yeah, I was going to say I got kids older than you.
• 7:07
Speaker 2: You made that crap up.
• 7:08
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 7:09
Speaker 1: Yeah, he just tries to act.
• 7:10
Speaker 2: Can we get another round?
• 7:12
Speaker 4: That's exactly what we need.
• 7:16
Speaker 1: All right, Mr Morris, your turn.
• 7:17
Speaker 4: Don just for you All right.
• 7:19
Speaker 4: Just for you, this is Mr Patrick Lindquist.
• 7:23
Speaker 4: Okay, is that right?
• 7:24
Speaker 4: Yes, sir, okay he has, and I'm surprised you haven't sniffed it out yet.
• 7:30
Speaker 4: The blue, light blue, 1971 Delta 88 convertible with a white interior in it oh man.
• 7:42
Speaker 1: And I'm going to let him tell you about the rest of this car that he's had before.
• 7:44
Speaker 1: Well, why don't you ask him some specific?
• 7:45
  Speaker 4: questions.
• 7:45
Speaker 4: Mr Morris, that would be a way to go.
• 7:46
Speaker 4: I'm still addressing you there, you go.
• 7:52
Speaker 1: No, you're trying to lay your job onto him.
• 7:53
Speaker 4: So you mentioned you've had this car for a little while.
• 7:56
  Speaker 5: Yes, 40 years 40 years.
• 7:59
Speaker 5: My wife and I had our first date in that car.
• 8:02
Speaker 4: Oh, wow, wow, Put this microphone a little bit closer.
• 8:05
  Speaker 4: There you go.
• 8:07
Speaker 4: Perfect, there you go, and there you go, and he's got Hot Rod Tour stickers all over it.
• 8:12
Speaker 4: Hot Rod Tour, they've got an auto-release shirt.
• 8:14
Speaker 1: You know, I thought you looked familiar.
• 8:15
Speaker 1: I thought, oh, I've seen you somewhere.
• 8:17
Speaker 5: Yeah, I've been three times.
• 8:19
Speaker 1: So have you, yeah, yeah.
• 8:21
Speaker 1: So have you made any changes to the car?
• 8:26
Speaker 1: Is it still all stock?
• 8:29
Speaker 5: It's pretty much stock.
• 8:30
Speaker 5: It had a bench seat in it.
• 8:31
Speaker 5: I took it out and put a set of buckets in a console.
• 8:34
Speaker 5: But wait a minute.
• 8:35
Speaker 1: You just got through telling me that your wife's first date with you was in that car.
• 8:39
Speaker 5: Yes, did it have the bench seat in it then?
• 8:42
Speaker 1: Yes, and you've taken that out and replaced it with buckets.
• 8:45
Speaker 5: Yes, Because you got tired of the of the wife and didn't want to have her sit next to you.
• 8:53
Speaker 1: No, not at all I just yeah, I wouldn't say that wanted to change it, wanted I've always wanted it with bucket seats in it really yeah, well, you know they quit putting bucket seats in those cars in the late, in the early, late 60s so the car didn't come with buckets and buckets weren't available for the car, no, so you robbed some car for those buckets 62 old Starfires.
• 9:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go, Starfires and they fit Well, yeah they do now.
• 9:22
Speaker 1: They do now yeah.
• 9:23
Speaker 5: And the console had the Starfires in it.
• 9:26
Speaker 1: Did you have to modify the floor or anything?
• 9:29
Speaker 5: No, I just built brackets.
• 9:32
Speaker 4: Hey gotcha, nice it looks really nice I can imagine you're gonna have to go over there and look at it, you'll you'll appreciate it, uh how's that convertible top working?
• 9:44
Speaker 5: uh, it's got the scissor top in it and uh, there's a guy here in town that uh is that knows how to put them in.
• 9:53
Speaker 5: Yeah, but I I had it all completely rebuilt and uh, all new bushings and everything, and so I I took the frame to him and the top and he put it all back in the car that's cool because I just I just had it repainted and all the body work, uh, and a funny story uh, we found a new in the box, rear quarter panel for it a new in the box, new, old stock new, old.
• 10:26
Speaker 5: It cost me more to ship it than it cost to buy it.
• 10:33
Speaker 1: I guess there wasn't too big of a high demand for it.
• 10:34
Speaker 1: Now, was that quarter panel on the convertible different than the sedan?
• 10:39
Speaker 5: It was, but it was the guy that did the work for me.
• 10:44
Speaker 5: He was able to make it work.
• 10:46
Speaker 4: He didn't take the whole quarter panel off, he just cut out all the rust not a lot of rust, did a great job, because I was looking down the side of it and I thought it was all original sheet metal this guy, so it did have rust.
• 10:58
Speaker 1: Is it not an original houston car or?
• 11:01
  Speaker 5: uh, I'm really.
• 11:02
Speaker 5: It was uh originally sold in midland texas.
• 11:05
Speaker 5: Yeah, bird Oldsmobile Okay, and that's where I'm from.
• 11:09
Speaker 1: Okay, and it's got rust.
• 11:11
Speaker 1: Well, I guess it's not too surprising because you know rust mitigation really didn't exist back then and it depends on, you know, the high humidity and that sort of stuff.
• 11:22
Speaker 1: Once it starts, the egg will stop.
• 11:26
  Speaker 2: That's right Well.
• 11:26
Speaker 2: I mean, you get like the snow and salt and it's the angle of stop.
• 11:28
  Speaker 2: That's right Well.
• 11:29
Speaker 1: I know, but you get like the snow and salt, and salt is what.
• 11:30
  Speaker 2: Midland.
• 11:30
Speaker 2: Odessa doesn't get a lot of snow, but they do get some snow every now and then.
• 11:33
Speaker 2: A little bit but snow is not the factor, it's all the other garbage they put in there, the salts and all the the chemicals the chemicals that they put down on the road.
• 11:42
Speaker 4: That's what does the rust.
• 11:44
Speaker 5: If you look at any 71 through 76 B-bodied cars, they all rust around the back wheels.
• 11:53
Speaker 1: Yeah, Does it have that chrome strip around the wheel opening?
• 12:01
Speaker 5: A small one, it's kind of on the inside of it.
• 12:04
  Speaker 1: Gotcha.
• 12:04
Speaker 1: Yeah, it doesn't fold out to the outside of it, but it's on the inside.
• 12:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, holds moisture inside.
• 12:10
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 12:10
  Speaker 1: Holds moisture.
• 12:10
  Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, yeah.
• 12:11
Speaker 1: But it's interesting because, you know, when they designed those cars back in the day, they didn't think that way Because, if you remember correctly and I worked for a Chevrolet dealer in 1969, 69, 70, that they put window molding around.
• 12:28
Speaker 1: It trapped all of the water, yep, all of the time.
• 12:32
Speaker 1: If you washed it, set it outside in the rain didn't make any difference, it was underneath there.
• 12:37
  Speaker 3: Right.
• 12:37
Speaker 1: And that 66 Corvair that I had.
• 12:39
Speaker 1: That was its major problem was that chrome trim around the window that trapped the water in there between the window and the actual body itself and it'll eat it up.
• 12:52
Speaker 1: Yeah and I guess you when you had it repainted.
• 12:55
Speaker 1: I guess you had it all everything was fixed.
• 12:58
Speaker 5: It's all metal, no bondo that's good.
• 13:01
Speaker 2: And then they invented z bart z bart, I remember z bart does that still exist.
• 13:07
Speaker 2: Uh, it's in form.
• 13:08
Speaker 2: It's called undercoating now.
• 13:10
  Speaker 4: Yeah, there's a different name.
• 13:11
Speaker 4: I think that franchise is gone but there's a different one.
• 13:12
Speaker 4: Yeah, they probably bought them out.
• 13:14
Speaker 2: That's what they used to spray in there.
• 13:16
Speaker 4: Take the moldings off, drill holes.
• 13:18
Speaker 5: Yep and then plug it the guy that actually painted the car, when he's pretty good.
• 13:28
Speaker 4: Well, it does that, and it also helps make it quieter and heavier and heavier.
• 13:32
Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, because now they've got the mats.
• 13:35
Speaker 1: How about that motor that's in there?
• 13:37
Speaker 5: It's original 455 with 153,000 miles on it.
• 13:42
Speaker 1: And it's never been apart.
• 13:43
  Speaker 5: No.
• 13:45
Speaker 1: How cool is that.
• 13:47
  Speaker 5: I'll rephrase that.
• 13:48
Speaker 5: It's had a timing chain and gear put in it.
• 13:51
Speaker 2: Well, that's for the course.
• 13:53
Speaker 5: I took it apart when I was redoing it and I put chrome valve covers on it and you could literally eat off the inside of the engine.
• 14:01
  Speaker 2: Wow.
• 14:03
Speaker 5: And this was maybe 6,000 miles ago.
• 14:06
Speaker 5: Nice, it's really a nice car.
• 14:08
Speaker 4: Well, that comes with having it for the last 40 years and taking care of it.
• 14:11
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, 150,000 miles in 40 years is not a lot of miles.
• 14:15
Speaker 2: So what did you pay for it back 40 years ago?
• 14:19
  Speaker 5: I think I paid about $3,000.
• 14:23
Speaker 2: I was going to say that's a lot of money 40 years ago.
• 14:26
Speaker 5: I got that car.
• 14:31
Speaker 5: We had a restaurant in midland texas and we had some friends two ladies that owned that car, and they bought that car new to throw a rule paper route convertible one of them would sit in the back seat and they would fill the newspapers up to about here and then they would throw sure, and that top stayed down all the time.
• 14:49
Speaker 5: Of course, if you ever been in west texas, there's no humidity, it never rains.
• 14:55
Speaker 5: But they came in the restaurant.
• 14:58
Speaker 5: I was always teasing them, say, you know, bring it up to me sometime and let me wash it and wax it for you and I'll drive it for the weekend.
• 15:04
Speaker 5: Well, they came in one time and they said if you get a minute, come see me and see us.
• 15:07
Speaker 5: And they I sat one time and they said if you get a minute, come see me and see us.
• 15:10
Speaker 5: And I sat down with them and they pushed the keys over to me and I said does it need a wash job?
• 15:15
Speaker 5: And they said no, we want you to have that car.
• 15:18
Speaker 2: Wow, they gave it to you.
• 15:20
Speaker 3: No, they didn't give it to me.
• 15:27
Speaker 5: They told me I could pay for it any way.
• 15:29
Speaker 1: I wanted to, but they wanted me to have that car.
• 15:30
Speaker 1: Obviously, it went to the perfect owner.
• 15:33
Speaker 5: Yeah, it's been a great car.
• 15:35
Speaker 2: And that's when you met your wife.
• 15:37
Speaker 5: Not too long, a couple years after that.
• 15:39
Speaker 5: Yeah, there's a couple more between there.
• 15:44
Speaker 4: A couple of wives no, just checking, but it's got the A couple of wives no.
• 15:49
Speaker 2: Oh no, just checking Ladies.
• 15:50
Speaker 2: Okay, I got you.
• 15:52
Speaker 5: But it's got the polycast wheels on it that were an upgrade for 71 and 72.
• 15:58
  Speaker 5: Delta 88s.
• 16:00
Speaker 4: They look kind of like a honeycomb, kind of like a bigger honeycomb that were on the Pontiacs Right.
• 16:08
Speaker 1: Is it 8 lug or 5 lug, 5.
• 16:09
  Speaker 1: 5 lug.
• 16:09
Speaker 1: Yeah you on the Pontiacs Right.
• 16:10
Speaker 1: Is it an 8-lug or 5-lug?
• 16:11
  Speaker 1: 5.
• 16:11
  Speaker 1: 5-lug.
• 16:11
Speaker 2: Yeah, you think the.
• 16:14
Speaker 5: Pontiacs had the 8-lugs, I think.
• 16:17
Speaker 1: Well, it's great talking to you.
• 16:18
Speaker 5: Thank you, I appreciate it.
• 16:19

  Speaker 1: There you go.
• 20:56

• 20:58
Speaker 1: It could be a photo booth or a phone booth.
• 21:01
Speaker 1: No, I was thinking more along the lines of go to the Fox for your photos, remember Fox photo.
• 21:10
Speaker 1: Go to the Fox.
• 21:11
Speaker 2: Kathy used to be in one of those satellite places in a parking lot.
• 21:15
Speaker 1: That's where she used to be Parking lot, usually at the grocery store or something yeah, and then she went into a home furrow, was it no?
• 21:21
  Speaker 1: Handy Dan Handy.
• 21:23
Speaker 1: Dan, yeah, was it Handy Dan Handy.
• 21:25
Speaker 2: Dan, and then she went from there to Academy for 37 years, yeah.
• 21:30
  Speaker 1: Alright.
• 21:31
Speaker 2: Nice, by the way.
• 21:32
  Speaker 2: Next weekend.
• 21:33
Speaker 1: we're back in the studio, will you?
• 21:34
Speaker 2: be glad I was taking off next week.
• 21:38
Speaker 1: You know, as long as we have nice weather like this, remotes are great.
• 21:42
Speaker 1: We could just set up in the driveway.
• 21:44
Speaker 1: But I will tell you, it takes us a full two hours to get everything all set up.
• 21:48
  Speaker 1: It's a long time.
• 21:49
  Speaker 1: It's a lot of work.
• 21:51
Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's worth it.
• 21:52
Speaker 1: We just don't fold it up into a little case and just do this.
• 21:59
Speaker 1: Mars had to go out and buy a truck to haul all this stuff around.
• 22:03
Speaker 2: I thought she was coming to get us another round.
• 22:05
Speaker 1: I know Could be, I guess not.
• 22:10
Speaker 1: Okay, you want to do the racing calendar Good, you want to do auto history.
• 22:14
Speaker 2: Well, mike said, do auto history.
• 22:15
Speaker 2: I could plug it in, but it wouldn't be worth it.
• 22:17
Speaker 1: All right, well, let's do the race calendar.
• 22:19
Speaker 1: Racing Racing, sponsored by Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge.
• 22:22
  Speaker 1: Thank you.
• 22:23
Speaker 2: Texas Muscle Car Challenge.
• 22:24
Speaker 1: NASCAR Muscle Car Club.
• 22:27
  Speaker 2: Challenge.
• 22:27
Speaker 2: Thank you for that Muscle Car Club Challenge.
• 22:32
Speaker 2: All right Thanks to Joey Logano being the champion of NASCAR Penske livery.
• 22:39
Speaker 2: So good for them.
• 22:41
Speaker 1: That's the yellow car, Yellow number 22.
• 22:44
  Speaker 3: Pennzoil.
• 22:44
  Speaker 2: Pennzoil.
• 22:45
Speaker 2: Penske's won everything in every event this past year, imsa and all that.
• 22:51
Speaker 2: Does that surprise you?
• 22:52
Speaker 2: No, nhra In-N-Out Burger, nhra Finals in Pomona Well so Pomona got rained out yesterday.
• 22:59
Speaker 1: I think they got top fuel in.
• 23:01
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they got top fuel in for the first round of qualifying.
• 23:06
Speaker 1: Yeah, and we'll see how that goes.
• 23:09
Speaker 2: Weather related and you know all that good stuff.
• 23:11
Speaker 2: It might run into Monday, we don't know.
• 23:12
Speaker 2: And then the last one we have is, of course, formula One.
• 23:16
Speaker 2: They are in Las Vegas Street Circuit.
• 23:18
Speaker 2: It's the Heineken Las Vegas Grand Prix, the Heine Heineken, and I think their trophy is like a giant stein.
• 23:25
Speaker 2: I don't know, I think you might drink out of it.
• 23:28
Speaker 2: No, I'm just kidding, I made that up, but it's going on right now.
• 23:32
Speaker 2: It's in las vegas, and I thought maybe las vegas would learn a lesson from last year, because it people were not happy but they signed a multi-year contract.
• 23:39
  Speaker 1: That's their problem.
• 23:40
Speaker 2: Well, I mean the people that live around there and have to work and and everyday stuff now they close down all the streets yep, and you can't get around and there's, there's nastiness and all kinds of stuff beyond the normal las vegas stuff.
• 23:52
Speaker 4: So my wife watches all the shows and she came in there one day and told me that they were on, whoever they were talking to, good Morning America, whatever.
• 24:02
Speaker 4: Whatever they were in Las Vegas, and Visit Las Vegas took them around for a week, showing them all around about the race and all the things that were going to happen and all this other stuff.
• 24:12
Speaker 4: So they're really pushing the tourism to come to Las Vegasgas to watch this race and they lost.
• 24:17
Speaker 1: Actually they lost money you know that that as much as I like automobile racing, I would not go to that.
• 24:24
  Speaker 1: The problem.
• 24:25
Speaker 1: The problem is as a spectator and it's actually that way at the circuit of the americas it's a road course.
• 24:33
Speaker 4: You're only going to watch a couple of turns in a straightaway somewhere, and that's what I was telling her that when we went to the COTA for a couple of broadcasts, we could be on that straightaway, but that's all we could see.
• 24:45
Speaker 4: You couldn't see anything else anywhere else, and the people in the bleachers across from us, that's all they could see.
• 24:50
Speaker 4: So it's not the Indy 500.
• 24:52
Speaker 1: Oh, let's go to the Indy 500.
• 24:54
Speaker 1: I've been to the Indy 500.
• 24:55
Speaker 1: It's great Love going.
• 24:56
Speaker 1: It's great to be there in the presence of all of that.
• 25:04
Speaker 2: The problem is the best that you can do two turns and one straightaway.
• 25:07
  Speaker 1: Yep, that's it.
• 25:08
Speaker 4: One of my girls went up to Texas Motorplex and watched a NASCAR race and they got down.
• 25:15
Speaker 1: Low, wanted seats down.
• 25:16
Speaker 4: No, no, no, no and she got there and that's all they could see was the blur they couldn't see nothing right now, as a matter of fact.
• 25:22
Speaker 1: Uh, one of my first nascar races that I went to was in talladega.
• 25:27
Speaker 1: That's a two and two-thirds mile course, so you can imagine the back stretch is way over there so I got the highest seat I could get and I could see everything really you had to have binoculars to see the cars going around.
• 25:43
Speaker 1: They came by every 60 seconds or something, but still you gotta sit.
• 25:47
Speaker 1: You gotta sit a ways away to see that the biggest mistake I made one year is I went there and sat in turn four.
• 25:56
Speaker 1: Well, here they come all the way around in that 33-degree banking at Talladega and they're hauling buns Donkey.
• 26:04
Speaker 1: At this particular time they were doing over 200 miles an hour.
• 26:08
Speaker 1: Your eyes cannot see a car going by at 200 miles an hour.
• 26:14
  Speaker 1: It's a blur.
• 26:16
  Speaker 4: That's what I've heard.
• 26:16
  Speaker 4: That's what I'm always heard.
• 26:17
  Speaker 2: Michigan International Speedway.
• 26:18
Speaker 2: My brother-in-law, jerry, was a photographer in the Navy and he used to get media passes, like you all do, for different things.
• 26:25
Speaker 2: And this was back at Michigan International, where they had the holes cut in the fence for the cameraman to spin the camera as he went by.
• 26:32
Speaker 2: Now it's all electronic and all the other stuff that you do, but we were looking through one of these.
• 26:37
Speaker 2: Gordon Johncock was doing 210 miles an hour, coming at us and just blew us back.
• 26:42
Speaker 2: It was the most amazing thing you've ever seen and I'll never forget it.
• 26:45
Speaker 2: We were in the camera well at the time, watching it and taking our pictures and it was just amazing.
• 26:53
Speaker 1: No, it's too fast for the human eye to keep up with.
• 26:57
Speaker 1: When you're watching, you can see it coming at you, but it reaches a point where it turns into a blur as it goes past you.
• 27:03
Speaker 2: Then you can see it going away, but in that split second or two.
• 27:07
Speaker 1: It's like the Doppler effect, but it's in vision.
• 27:09
Speaker 1: Mr Mars, I've been holding a little feature that you have Is that what you guys are calling it To this segment At his age.
• 27:19
  Speaker 1: Wait a minute.
• 27:20
Speaker 1: Is it really the time that I'm looking at here?
• 27:23
Speaker 1: We ain't got time for this.
• 27:24
  Speaker 1: No, we don't.
• 27:25
  Speaker 1: Ain't.
• 27:25
Speaker 2: nobody got time for this, ain't got no time, but we do have time to tell you to bring a toy unwrapped, get a breakfast taco or you can donate cash Still got time.
• 27:36
Speaker 1: Beautiful day, it's Toys for Tots and Houston Children's Charity and they're taking toys and they give you a little ticket to go in there and get yourself a free breakfast taco, get you a little ticket.
• 27:46
Speaker 1: Yeah, so I've done some news headlines.
• 27:49
Speaker 1: I got a couple I want to get in this hour.
• 27:51
Speaker 1: Business review website Yelp recently bought repair pal as it explores expanding its automotive services offerings.
• 28:00
Speaker 1: The purchase price for repair pal, which provides auto repair locations and maintenance estimates, was 80 million dollars in cash.
• 28:08
Speaker 1: The deal announced november 7th, expected to close by the end of the year.
• 28:12
Speaker 1: Advance Auto Parts said it will close more than 500 stores by the middle of next year and cut some jobs under a restructuring effort as demand for vehicle parts takes a hit from fewer consumers opting to repair their own cars.
• 28:30
Speaker 1: The company posted a third-quarter net loss from continuing operations of $25.3 million, compared with a loss of $74.1 million during the same period last year.
• 28:44
Speaker 1: They're in some deep doo-doo there.
• 28:46
Speaker 4: Well, if you think about it, they're getting so complicated you've got to have a computer to even hook on to it.
• 28:52
Speaker 1: You can only sell so many batteries.
• 28:54
Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly Either that, or they want to be like Nissan.
• 28:58
Speaker 1: If I were going to buy auto parts and I've tried them all Advance Pep.
• 29:02
  Speaker 2: Boys O'Reilly.
• 29:05
Speaker 1: The one that is more professional and that I've always bought parts from.
• 29:09
Speaker 1: It used to be Hylo or Charlie's is now O'Reilly.
• 29:14
  Speaker 4: Yes.
• 29:15
Speaker 1: And I go in there.
• 29:15
Speaker 1: I can always usually find what I need, and if they don't have it, they'll have it tomorrow.
• 29:20
  Speaker 4: Right.
• 29:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, well, they used to turn brake drums.
• 29:23
Speaker 4: They had a little machine shop set up.
• 29:25
Speaker 4: They used to do all kinds of things.
• 29:27
Speaker 2: Before I bought my Buick, the guy down the street used to work on my car for me, little incidental things and car for me little incidental things, and he used to use Rock Auto.
• 29:34
Speaker 1: He used to do everything online, you know I don't have a problem with Rock Auto, except for the fact that it's good, better, best with them, and if you want to buy just the good, you're going to get some Chinese stuff.
• 29:45
Speaker 1: That doesn't necessarily work, but that's the way it's going.
• 29:49
Speaker 4: And usually whenever I'm working on something I mean flow sensor the other day for one of the kids' cars I don't want to wait two days to get it.
• 29:56
Speaker 4: You know, I'm going to go down and find whoever's got it in stock or can get it for me tomorrow, and that's who.
• 30:00
