- Scott Brandt: Hmm. Copy off guard as you're doing. So it's a, so it's very interesting when you think about the idea of patients and we don't have any in today's day and age. You have so many people that are like, I'm going to start doing this and then I'm going to stop after two seconds. And so it's such a. thing that people overlook the power of patience because we want everything here and now. Thank you Amazon for two day delivery and everybody getting upset when it's 15 seconds late. So welcome back to together we are stronger leadership straight, no chasers. And it is a very unique thing when we look at the business space, a lot of leaders that want to do something, they want to do something different. And as I look at podcasts, like we've talked about people want to do podcasts, but they don't realize the aspect of having to have patience and it takes time. And the issue is we have people that like to play the comparison game and compare somebody's chapter 10 to their chapter one. And so George, when you look. at the idea of patience and you look at individuals that don't really heed to the power of patience, what comes to mind in regards to people overlooking this necessary ingredient when it comes to growth and bigger things to take place? Big G: That's a great question, Scott. I'm telling you. You know, patience, you know, it's like people like say, oh, I got to pray for patience. No, you don't. See, people think patience is a weakness. It's not. And it's discipline wrapped around in faith. You got to have faith in what you do. Right. And a lot of times, just like I said, most people quit before they hit a breakthrough. Really, I mean. I made notes in this and so you know a lot of people just give up before they have the break right through and it could be it could be months, but As you take a look in business, it doesn't happen overnight see just because you own let's say let's just use subway for instance if you bought a franchise Just because you open that company say subway doesn't mean that you're be busy the day you open depends of course But you gotta market you gotta go out there and talk to people you got to have those things and you know when you go out there It doesn't happen overnight again Man, how many times you know you we get frustrated throughout this journey? I should be breaking it down. You know, it's like getting the insurance business, you know and It doesn't happen in a sense. I'm gonna make pick up the phone, make phone calls, and everything, you get frustrated, and people quit. Just like on anything else. Just like when you open a franchise business, people quit before they have that major breakthrough. And it's not, ⁓ what I mean by breakthrough is basically, all the work you're putting in, starting to see, you're starting to see what's going on. You're getting creative. or people are calling you and sometimes it just takes a while. You're not going to McDonald's in business to get a Happy Meal right away. And a lot of times people want that and people just give up and you can't. You talk to anybody who's very successful and they will tell you it takes time, you know. Scott Brandt: Mm. Big G: Every time you put something out there, you correct it, you're fixing it, you're doing everything to apply what you learn to make it happen. And a lot of times people give up before they even see anything. And people wonder why. What happened to your other business I gave up? Why? Scott Brandt: Yeah. Big G: I was getting any business, this, this, and that. They started making excuses. And then you see someone who has the same idea, been in business a little bit longer than you, and then have that massive breakthrough. And a lot of times people just give it up. Scott Brandt: Yeah, it's a, it's a very interesting thing when you start really reflecting on those different aspects. ⁓ the one thing and I'm over here right now, it's just because it's different correlations here. So the, the first thing I have to laugh is how you had talked about people are like, I'm going to pay, pray to have to receive more, ⁓ patients and all this craziness, but the Big G: Yeah. Yes. Scott Brandt: issue that a lot of people don't realize is you're going to have situations that show up that are going to give you the opportunity to develop that which you asked for. But because it doesn't show up the way we believe it should show up or our idea of this is the exact thing that's going to push and allow me to do. Big G: Thank Scott Brandt: whatever that is. And it's such a weird thing because people and I find it interesting because Christians a lot of times will do some craziness like lean on different things, but then not realize that things are showing up because really that is the true way to get to whatever you're asking for. It's the action. And sometimes the action is not enjoyable and it sucks, but it is there to really help you grow. But a lot of people don't realize that. And it's a very weird, strange thing when you really look at it. And it just baffles me because people, I think it's lack of not having an open mind. and having this picture of this is how it should be. But the, that's, that's where it comes into where you have to think that you have boundaries that kind of help you guide you and whatnot, but they can't be so constrictive that if something comes out of left field that doesn't match with whatever perspective you have, you miss out. so. That's one thing that I laugh at because you'll hear people ask and say that and you're like, well, here you go. And they're like, no, that's not it. And you're like, okay, well, what else do you need or what else do you want to match whatever this perspective that you hold? And so that's where I look at it is the power of being in the moment and being present. and actually having a open mind because if something shows up that doesn't align with you, but it's that thing that you need, you're going to miss out. And so it's a very funny thing when you really think about it and you start putting things together and then you start looking at people and how they'll ask for things and then it will show up and they're like, no, that's not it. And you're like, what are you talking about? Like you're over here scratching your head. That's what you just asked for, but no, that's not it. Okay, I don't know what else to say, but here you go. Big G: Well, know what's crazy is people get impatient. That is like the man that is key for disaster. So when being impatient, you you get these quick wins, right? Like, wow, yeah, making things happen. But when you create that, you lose the momentum to have the building of a Scott Brandt: Hmm. Mm-hmm. Big G: solid foundation that is your business. And you know when you talk about prayer and all that now let me just say this and let's go and and talk about when people pray about stuff you know Lord they have their hands out like this okay Lord I'm ready to accept. Well Lord gives you the opportunity to kick down that door to find what you're looking for. God puts you on a journey. you know, it's not that I'm disagreeing, arguing with anybody, but what I have felt and what I have seen is people get, you know, the patience for it to happen. And a lot of times God already has that door cracked and they get so impatient, they look the other way and they move on. And it's so crazy and it's like this. I asked somebody today, if you want a billion dollars, are you prepared for that money? And they're like, oh yeah, yeah, no, wouldn't. You're lying. If a billion dollars sat on your account, you wouldn't be prepared for it. See, being patient, there's a massive difference. Scott Brandt: Hmm. Hmm. You ⁓ Mm. Big G: being patient and learning and always be a student. And if you do get a coach that helps you through those things, you have to be patient through the growth. And naturally we get impatient, right? So when you go through those things, you go through that trial, that learning curve, you know, that you got to break through. And when people get instant things, it's great. Scott Brandt: Hmm. Big G: But you're not learning anything. You can't teach anybody anything. So when I asked this person today, if you got a billion dollars in your account today, what would you be prepared for? No, you're being like you want to be spending, you want to get things, you want to get going. But what happens is you lose sight of where that money came from and what you can create. And ⁓ people wouldn't be able to handle it. What's the percentage of how many lotto lottery winners win and then they go file bankruptcy because they're in worse shape than they were before they won the money. I it was like, I mean, I think at one time it was 72%. And again, when it comes to business, it's... Scott Brandt: Hmm. Yeah. Hmm. Big G: You have to, growth takes time. It's like having children. You know, you get your daughter, your son, it's a baby, it's crying, it all works. You know, they... Next you know they're snuggling with you. Next you know they're two years old and they keep growing. That patience of they teaching them. That's why you need to teach your business. Your business has to have patience to grow, to grab and to launch it. And you've got to do a good job of teaching yourself how to be better in your business and in life. Scott Brandt: Mm. Yeah, no true right now if there's value that you're gathering from this video go ahead and hit that like button if you're looking for more of these types of videos hit that subscribe button so one thing really to ask yourself as you're listening to this is there something that you are being impatient about but are you not taking action and so that's where you have to take the action Big G: Thank Scott Brandt: along with being patient. so ask yourself, what is that situation that you are probably doing reverse and it's not doing you any good. So it's very interesting in regards because action you have to take. so a lot of people, it's funny because they're like, I need to be patient. And so they have this idea that, by being patient means I also don't take action or I take very little action. And the issue that you run into that is part of the equation is creating momentum. And so for momentum to be created, you got to take action. And so be patient with the results because it does take time. but also you need to put the action in. You need to start moving forward to start creating momentum for you. It's one of those that I've shared. don't know if we've shared it here, but the quote I got this from was Omar El-Takori. And he said, it's not the best, but it's the best known. And so think about people that are like, ⁓ I've got this product. I don't need anything else. I've got all this word of mouth, but the issue though is, You are the differentiator for everything. So if you're not the best known, how do you expect to win? Because at the end of the day, you become part of an echo chamber and you sound like everybody else. And so part of getting to become the best known is the patience of understanding that it does take time. you look at nature, everything takes time. Bamboo is one of those big examples that It's three to five years before you see any movement with bamboo. And then after that, it shoots up quickly. So it's the same thing here that it takes patients. There's plenty of examples around us that showcases patients as part of the process, but you also want to take action and not just sit there because that's not going to do you any good. And so it's a, it's a very interesting thing because, ⁓ Gary V actually shared that to be the top 1 % of the U S for money earners. It's $447,000. And so he was talking about how everybody has this big dream of, want to make a million dollars. But if you think about it, that's a very small aggregate piece there. But if you want to get into the top, it's, it's a smaller number than. what people assume, but that also goes into the patients piece. so it's one of those factors that it's a testing because the thing is, if you're not the person that is meant to be in that area, you're not going to maintain. Like I put that post out there a couple of nights ago, you had commented on it. And I had talked about the fact that everybody wants to hit on self-confidence and I think the reason everybody drives on self-confidence is it's an external thing that people can see. But the driving force actually is your personal wealth or wealth, personal worth that you hold onto that's internal. And the thing is, is that's a thermostat. So if your worth doesn't match your self-confidence, your worth is actually going to drive and bring everything back. And so it's the same thing here that patience is that refining of you as a person to allow you to grow into that person that's meant to be there to do bigger and better things. But a lot of people don't realize that. And then they start freaking out and don't understand that patience is that refining piece for you as an individual. that allows you to develop and become that person that's meant to receive whatever that is that you're going after to try to obtain. Big G: Well, you know, and that's one thing that I want to add is, you know, success is built in seasons. Just like you talk about, you know, the bamboo as one of the fastest growing trees, once it sprouts, it goes how many feet? And a lot of times we get so impatient about stuff, we ruin relationships. Scott Brandt: Hmm. Big G: is because we want there. Let's say, for instance, you're calling contractors all day to get business from them. And you just you're trying to call them. Next, you know, it's once a week and next, you know, it's twice a week. And what happens is people are like, hey, listen, I know you, you know, you need the business. But, you know, it's all about timing. Right. So people, people ruin relationships because they're always constantly trying to to do something differently instead of building that relationship, know, let them know, hey, I'll give you a call in a week or so. Because people love to build relationships, especially when it comes down to giving a large order of business. They got to trust you before they just send it over to you. And at times, ⁓ patient teaches you gratitude. You know, it's something that people really overlooked. You know, when you have someone who's patient, who's understanding and looks at what you can do, what you can create, and they understand it takes time to get stuff done, those are the people you want to be around with. Because they know that it doesn't happen overnight. And sometimes God delays things not to punish you, of course, but it's to prepare you. So again, like I said today, if you got a billion dollars in your account today, how will you react to it? A majority of people will lose their minds. But first of all, it'll be exciting. Awesome, right? Wouldn't know what to do. What's the next step? Scott Brandt: Hmm. Big G: And so, you have to treat everything that you do as entrepreneurs, as business leaders, you got to treat like you're planting ⁓ acres of crops. You know, you have a great season, then you have those seasons that, you know, could have been better, but you'll learn through that. What can I done better? And I think a lot of times people want instant gratification and it's, and you don't, you don't, you don't learn anything. You don't at all. just, your lessons are, are faded and avoid. Scott Brandt: Well, I think the, the unique thing really, when you think about it, I think a lot of people embrace being impatient because that forces them not to have to go through the highs and lows. And so I think it's a little bit of the ostrich syndrome where you start your head in the sand and you just want the, the positivity. want the good things, but. On the flip side of that, you have to experience the pain, the not desirable things that people try to get away from, which if you really think about it, if you were to avoid everything that you feel is not good, the pain, the suffering, you're not going to be the ideal person to be in that spot that is going to really do big things. because they haven't refined themselves. And so that is, it comes with a little bit of the toxic positivity that you see in today's day and age where it's let's avoid all the negativity, let's avoid all the pain, the suffering, but that is the part that has to be experienced because how... Do you set yourself up for that next level, which is going to take a different person, a different skill set. And if you haven't ever faced adversity or had to overcome those pain points and the things that suck, what makes you think that you're going to survive those next levels that you desire to go to, but you're trying to avoid? all the not so pleasurable things because you just don't want to. It's a crazy thing when you see people that assume, me try to skirt and avoid everything, but still let me receive and achieve these things that I really haven't prepped myself for to really be in that moment and really be the person that needs to be who it is. to receive those things. It's a crazy thing when you think about it. Big G: Yeah, you have to go through the pay. And what I mean by paying not in a sense of. you know, pull the... pain is learning lessons, it's growth. And a lot of times people don't want that they avoid just like you said. And I, you know, even myself gone through the pain when I, when we lost the money, had to become a handyman. And you do, you know, crazy jobs, you know, you think, ⁓ man, I'm better than this. But you really get put in the spot that you have to learn next, know, and the handyman business becomes into Little construction makes you know become GC and you start working it and you understand it But again, it's a growing pain you You know, God made is perfect, but we screwed it up because we get a patient we we Think doubt in ourselves. There's a lot of there's a lot of information that we missed out because You know, we don't think about it. You know, we go react. You don't think we react right away. And I think a lot of times that, you know, we missed opportunities. You know, I know I have, you know, you get impatient, you know, why is no one called next? You know, you get flooded with business. How do you handle that? And there's times like, how do I get this done? You know, I have to hire someone else. So I got to give it out to another another Scott Brandt: Hmm. Mm. Big G: Instruction company, you know, how do I grow but when you don't go through those pains that growth You know, and I think a lot of times as owners leaders entrepreneurs Why instant we want? success so fast but how do you become a Teacher by teaching what your knowledge is all about about what you've gone through And I think a lot of times people miss that opportunity. That's why when I sit with people who are older than me, in their 70s, 80s, I listen because their knowledge is so much strength compared to what people are teaching now these days. I talked to a gentleman today, he owned an electrical company in Hawaii. his dad only had three major credit cards. And everything that they had to buy had to be shipped from all over the United States to Hawaii. Now you're talking about patients. But what he did, he growed a multi-million dollar business is because what they have learned, what he has taught, and he taught a son, a son shared with me. And he's like, yeah, I have one credit card for emergency. I got money here, money there, this, this and that. We're set for retirement. Scott Brandt: Mm. Big G: retirement and being at a young age of 55 and you don't have to worry about anything. That's awesome. But what I'm saying not to get off track, people don't want to listen to someone who's had success because they don't want to take the time. Scott Brandt: Hmm. Big G: to get it done. They don't want to wait, excuse me, five years to have success. They want it next week and that ain't going to happen. And let me tell you, it's going to catch on fire and it's going to burn. And if you don't burn six months, a year from now, you're to be out of business because you're not, you're not listening. You're not being a student of your own business. And that's what happens when your impatience kicks in. Now I got, I can, I can have people disagree, but you know, Scott Brandt: Hmm. Big G: days are different from starting the business 10 years ago or 20 years ago and you start today there's a lot of competition and you when you have that one thing that one item you're trying to build you got to open your mind to add and that's why people are successful because they add stuff to it Scott Brandt: Hmm. Well, I think that the one thing, and this is really the big thing is patience doesn't mean you're just sitting around sitting on your hands and not doing anything. ⁓ you have to take the action like we've talked about. And if you're not taking action, go back to the episode, I think it was like episode four, where we talked about the power of action and really start tying that in. so. Big G: Yes. Scott Brandt: The one thing I think we want to be mindful about though is there was a saying that it, it took me a while to really wrap my head around, but fell fast, fell forward. And so I was like, what is this? Like this makes no sense. But when you really truly think about it, that is the aspect of moving through things quickly, learning, finding those things that work, finding those things that don't work. and trying to get through it quickly because if you're scared to fail, you're not going to take you're not going to take any action because it's the caveman mind taking over of this is scary. I don't want to fail because it's bad because when I was 16 or when I was six years old, I got my paperback that had a big red F on it. So I was bad and my parents started yelling at me. It's like No, like you want to learn quickly. You want to find those mistakes to cut down your learning curve to speed up getting to that next location. And so it really truly comes down that with patience, it's not just sitting on your hands and saying, please come show. Like, no, you got to take the action because action will start opening up doors. We'll start getting you connected with people that will speed up that process for you. but it's also understanding that it doesn't happen quickly. Like if we look at anything that turns out well, it takes time. And so that's part of that patience understanding that it's gonna take time, but I can't just sit here and just sit here. You have to take the action, you have to move forward and you have to put yourself out there to learn and prep yourself for when the time comes. and what you've been asked for shows up and you're ready for it and you're not going to mess it up and screw it up. Big G: No, you won't. And what's great about it, it's your business. You learn from it. And as I sit and write and wrote before this, and I put down, replace frustration with curiosity. And take a look at the season. What taught me in the one year in business, what did my business teach me right? You gotta sit back and learn from that, right? Slow doesn't mean you're stuck. It means you're learning. And what we're doing is you're learning slow but steady and you're moving forward. People who are impatient, they're moving forward. But next you know, you take one step and you take five steps back. You're not learning anything from that. And so I think a lot of times, focus on becoming the person that can handle the blessing. Just don't get the blessing, not just go out and get it. Be ready for the blessing. Every delay you can, divine, redirect. Patience keeps you aligned, not behind. And I think a lot of times in those words, Scott Brandt: Hmm. Big G: You know, people lose the perspective of everything. Impatient cost. Let me ask you this, When you get impatient, what does it do inside you? For me, it really costs peace because I'm always thinking, like, when you are impatient about stuff, what does it do to you personally? ⁓ Scott Brandt: Hmm. Cause it causes a lack of focus. ⁓ there's been and creativity. ⁓ so the interesting thing is sometimes you have to be bored in the moment to let your brain actually clear out the crap and extract what needs to be extracted. And so that's also the fact of for me, if I'm in that mode, I'm impatient. And so. it's a not a good feeling because it's like, what else can I do? And then I'm stressing and trying to figure out what that next step is. But then it also creates a lack of clarity and then nothing is working out for my favor and I'm stuck in film like nothing's working. So for me, it's a big clarity not being there. And the lack of clarity doesn't help you out because that just fogs everything up and it's harder to get to where you're trying to go with a lack of clarity. And so that's the thing is that you can have all the clarity in the world, but if something happens and causes that smaller, not clear, not to be clear, it's kind of like the 1 % doubt and you're out. Big G: Yeah. Scott Brandt: Yeah, you can be 99 % positive and self-confidence, but that 1 % doubt is going to outweigh everything else. so 1 % doubt you're out. And so that's the same thing here of being impatient, having a lack of small clarity, and then that impacts and that hurts everything. So for me, it's one that it, it's one that that Big G: Well, the one thing I will say in business and life, remember it's not about speed. It's about staying in power. And what that breaks that down is staying really focused on what you're doing. And as an entrepreneur, leader in your business, you know, and you have a coach. don't lose it, stay in power, stay focused, take action, learn from what's going on so you can teach others. And that's what's so incredible about what we're doing is that all this is from experience that we've been through. It's nothing I read out of a book. It's all the things I've gone through. I've gone through it all. I've been impatient. I stay out of focus and I, you know, put my hair on fire in a sense and not be real coachable. You know, I didn't really listen anybody. I got this. I know it all and I'm telling you is that that's the wrong thing to do. It is you can go through that but you don't want to be in my age and reflect back. And I reflect back, not in the bad way, I reflect back and say, OK, I'm going to teach people what I've gone through and what you've gone through. And we can share it because times, you know, these days you got to be on point. And I think you got to be coachable. You got to be a student. You got to keep ears on. If you're spending hours a day on social media and it's not just podcasts, just like going through Scott Brandt: Hmm. Big G: what's going on in the world, all the hate and everything, they're going the wrong way. Pick up a book, know, call someone who's making success, you know, if you have a coach, talk to that coach and just remember being a patient is not a bad thing, but if you become patient, you will understand exactly what's going on. Because impatient will throw you in the loop. Patience will grab you and help you through the days that, you know, days are tough. So I want to correct myself. The word of the day is be impatient, not impatient. Wow. I just heard myself like, what the hell was that? Sorry about that, Scott. Scott Brandt: Hmm. Yep. So yeah, if if you're a leader like we say share this with somebody that is struggling that they're really like They don't know what's going on. So I think a lot of times being impatient is a lack of not having clarity and so If that's something that you're struggling with go back to the first episode that that was the focus of that episode is Clarity and I have to give a shout out because I signed to my grandmother this weekend And she actually shared, she's like, don't understand some of the stuff that you guys talk about, but the clarity piece has been good for her. And then the values and she's like, I've been able to reflect and she's got her own journey that she's walking on and whatnot. But she's like, yeah, I don't understand everything that you guys are talking about, but these two things were really big for me. And so the, the reason that we started with clarity is that's where everybody lacks in that area. And. Without clarity, nothing else starts falling in line. And so that is the basis foundation that you got to work on and really pull back and grab and make sure you have that clarity because that's going to help out with everything else. So that's, I'll push everybody back to that first episode because that's where people struggle. That's the big struggle piece for everybody. So appreciate you coming on. Big G: ⁓ yeah. Thank you. Scott Brandt: Honest to be here on the journey walking the journey with us growing the community I've got a shout out or the individuals that believe in what we're doing the subscribers if These are the videos that you're looking for hit that subscribe button I want to give a shout out to those that are believing in what we're doing Really giving us the feedback helping us grow the community.
