- 0:00Most people simply live their lives and carry out whatever
- 0:04feeling, mood or impetus may be impacting them at the moment.
- 0:10They become that movement, whether it is happiness and joy,
- 0:15hunger, anger, annoy, fatigue or some concentrated state of mind,
- 0:22etcetera. Their awareness, their conscious
- 0:26existence, is totally wrapped up in those movements of energy, in
- 0:30their being. Few are those who feel a degree
- 0:34of separation such that they can actually observe these changes
- 0:38of moods with conscious awareness and recognize the
- 0:42causal links, the situational causes and their reactions.
- 0:48The spiritual aspirant, as he advances in the yogic process,
- 0:52begins to achieve this observational separateness, and
- 0:56as he does so, he begins to develop the ability to recognize
- 1:00patterns, antecedents to specific responses and
- 1:04reactions, and thereby to both anticipate and respond more
- 1:09definitively and consciously to whatever energetic mood comes
- 1:14upon him. He may still experience all of
- 1:18the same things, but he has at least a part of his being that
- 1:22is not totally involved and which can begin to exert its
- 1:26influence and its focus to change the result over time,
- 1:31whether to overcome a particular habit or pattern or to redirect
- 1:36the energy and attention in the direction of the spiritual
- 1:39quest. Of particular value is the
- 1:43tuning of the consciousness to the spiritual force and opening
- 1:48up the being to its action and influence.
- 1:51This is the power that can offset all the small negative
- 1:55actions that take place as part of the normal human life.
- 2:01The mother writes quote, but one must first be clear and sincere
- 2:06enough to see the conflict within oneself.
- 2:10Usually one doesn't pay any attention to these things.
- 2:13One goes from 1 extreme to the other.
- 2:16You see, you can say, to put it in a very simple words, one day
- 2:22I am good, the next day I am bad.
- 2:25And this seems quite natural. Or even sometimes for one hour
- 2:30you are good, and the next hour you are wicked.
- 2:33Or else sometimes the whole day through 1 is good, and suddenly
- 2:38one becomes wicked for a minute, very wicked, all the more wicked
- 2:43as one was good. Only one doesn't observe it.
- 2:48Thoughts cross one's mind, Violent, bad, hateful things
- 2:53like that. Usually one pays no attention to
- 2:56it, but this is what must be caught.
- 3:00As soon as it manifests, you must catch it like this.
- 3:04Mother makes a movement with a very firm grip, and then hold
- 3:09it, hold it up to the light and say no, I don't want you, I
- 3:15don't want you. I have nothing to do with this.
- 3:19You are going to get out of here and you won't return after a
- 3:25silence. And this is something, an
- 3:29experience that one can have daily, or almost.
- 3:33When one has those movements of great enthusiasm, great
- 3:37aspiration, when one suddenly becomes conscious of the divine
- 3:41goal, the urge towards the divine, the desire to take part
- 3:46in the divine work. When one comes out of oneself in
- 3:49a great joy and great force. And then a few hours later one
- 3:56is miserable for a tiny little thing one indulges in, so petty,
- 4:01so narrow, so commonplace. A self interestedness has such a
- 4:06dull desire and all the rest has evaporated as if it did not
- 4:12exist. One is quite accustomed to
- 4:15contradictions. 1 doesn't pay attention to this.
- 4:19And that is why all these things live comfortably together as
- 4:22neighbors. One must first discover them and
- 4:25prevent them from intermingling in one's consciousness.
- 4:29Decide between them. Separate the shadow from the
- 4:32light. Later one can get rid of the
- 4:36shadow. End Quote.
