- 0:04Speaker 1: NFL Power Rankings is a production of the NFL in
- 0:07Speaker 1: partnership with I Heart Radio. Previously on Power Rankings. If
- 0:19Speaker 1: the Dobbins beat the Bills, yes, oh my god, might
- 0:24Speaker 1: be number one in the Power ranking. Stop it. That's
- 0:27Speaker 1: not happening. But I'm saying that is. It's gonna be
- 0:29Speaker 1: very hard for anyone who does an exercise like this.
- 0:32Speaker 1: And you know there is only one power rankings. It's
- 0:36Speaker 1: these are the Power Rankings, and everybody else just stopped
- 0:39Speaker 1: at a certain point. But they haven't yet. Um, the
- 0:42Speaker 1: Dolins has got to be good. They're doing it. You know,
- 0:45Speaker 1: I didn't need to. I wasn't going to say that,
- 0:47Speaker 1: but it is adorable. It's adorable. I know, I love it.
- 0:49Speaker 1: That's great. Um, you are the authority. Though any authority
- 0:53Speaker 1: has been little, we're still doing it. Well. Well, well
- 1:04Speaker 1: look what happened. The Dolphins actually beat the Bills. But
- 1:08Speaker 1: did Dan keep his word? Welcome in Everybody to Power
- 1:11Speaker 1: Rankings week for edition. Now Dan Answers is gallivanting across
- 1:16Speaker 1: London right now. I'm Colleen Wolf. I'm holding it down
- 1:19Speaker 1: in l a And I did what any best friend
- 1:23Speaker 1: would do. I booked his arch enemy to come in
- 1:27Speaker 1: and judge his entire list. Daniel Jeremiah. Welcome to the show.
- 1:31Speaker 1: And before we get into this, for anyone who is
- 1:34Speaker 1: not familiar with the Dan hands is Daniel Jeremiah relationship dynamic.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Let me help you out. Here we go joining us
- 1:41Speaker 1: the man of the hour. His name is not barried,
- 1:44Speaker 1: but he is a wholesome assassin. It's Dane Aeremiah. I
- 1:47Speaker 1: reached out to you and I privately texted if you
- 1:50Speaker 1: could join us today. I didn't get a response. This
- 1:53Speaker 1: is a this is a highlight for me. It's a
- 1:54Speaker 1: thrill for me to be here with three of my
- 1:56Speaker 1: best friends and Dan Hans. If I text you about
- 1:59Speaker 1: Fernando Tattoos Jr. It's like dot dot dot answer. Yeah,
- 2:03Speaker 1: it's like, hey, man, can you give a sex seven
- 2:04Speaker 1: minutes for the show. It's like and he's like, I'm
- 2:08Speaker 1: really busy. Let me get back to you see if
- 2:10Speaker 1: I can do it. He never even got back. Yeah,
- 2:12Speaker 1: it's funny. If any of you guys would have reached
- 2:14Speaker 1: out to me, would boom done? And now he can happen.
- 2:17Speaker 1: He's just sitting here watching Kickers and Hunters. By the way,
- 2:21Speaker 1: so you guys set the scene for the folks. You're
- 2:23Speaker 1: listening here, both of them? How much large your what's
- 2:28Speaker 1: your time? My time? Listen, Let's stay on Let's stay
- 2:31Speaker 1: on task here. I've had some cool experiences in life,
- 2:34Speaker 1: you know. You You've worked with different teams, you around
- 2:36Speaker 1: Hall of famers like has he knew some great coaches
- 2:38Speaker 1: like Andy Reid, but they'd be sitting in here with
- 2:40Speaker 1: three studs like you guys. Is great, you know. And
- 2:43Speaker 1: Dan's a nice guy. He really is, well, Daniel Jeremiah,
- 2:49Speaker 1: You're a gym. Dan would not have a burned book
- 2:51Speaker 1: without you. We are we are in. I am in
- 2:54Speaker 1: the Chris Wesseling podcast studio. And if you were watching
- 2:57Speaker 1: the video version, you saw Chris Westling there with the
- 3:00Speaker 1: heroes in Indianapolis at the combine and DJ your relation
- 3:04Speaker 1: chip um, the blood feud runs pretty deep with Dan. Yeah.
- 3:09Speaker 1: You know a lot of people when they get contracts
- 3:10Speaker 1: and they get them redone, they put in special perks
- 3:13Speaker 1: and maybe that's a wardrobe budget, maybe that's flying first
- 3:16Speaker 1: class on the road. Mine is I will only appear
- 3:19Speaker 1: on a Dan Hanzo show if he's out of the country.
- 3:22Speaker 1: So that's what I actually have in the letter of
- 3:24Speaker 1: my contract. So he goes overseas and and and here
- 3:27Speaker 1: we are. Well, we didn't tell Dan yet, so I'm
- 3:30Speaker 1: sure he's somewhere declaring ventions on you. I don't think
- 3:34Speaker 1: he knows, you know, So FROs Dan, this is great.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I hope you're ready to buckle up. We have a
- 3:41Speaker 1: lot to go through here, and it's great because you
- 3:44Speaker 1: didn't make this list, so you can go through and
- 3:46Speaker 1: say whatever you want about it. I love that aspect.
- 3:49Speaker 1: So let's go through the top five, starting right now.
- 3:52Speaker 1: There's a new number one, and it is the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Makes me a little nervous. They're up two spots, with
- 3:57Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills down one at number two. Then we got
- 4:00Speaker 1: the Dolphins at three, up five spots in the rankings,
- 4:04Speaker 1: Packers at four of one, and then the Chiefs down
- 4:07Speaker 1: three at five. But we're gonna start with the Eagles.
- 4:11Speaker 1: They're peaking too early. DJ, This makes me nervous. I
- 4:14Speaker 1: don't like it. Do you think they are the number
- 4:16Speaker 1: one team in the entire NFL? Well, look, they're playing
- 4:20Speaker 1: great right now, Colleen, be excited about that. I think
- 4:22Speaker 1: defensively that game against the Lions early on, and you're like, oh, gosh,
- 4:25Speaker 1: they gotta figure that out. And now you're starting to
- 4:27Speaker 1: see the defense come along. Gali. They set Carson Wentz
- 4:30Speaker 1: nine times in that game. I would just push back
- 4:32Speaker 1: on Dan's list in this regard. I think if they
- 4:34Speaker 1: were to play the Buffalo Bills on a neutral field tomorrow,
- 4:37Speaker 1: I think Dan, in his heart of hearts, would know
- 4:39Speaker 1: that the Buffalo Bills would be favored in that game
- 4:42Speaker 1: and he would probably pick the Buffalo Bills to win
- 4:44Speaker 1: that game. So in that case, they probably shouldn't be
- 4:47Speaker 1: number one on his power rankings. All right, that's fair.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I am totally with you not having them in the
- 4:52Speaker 1: top spot. I've been trying to like temper expectations around here.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Everybody chill out. It's a long season. But Jalen Hurts
- 4:59Speaker 1: He's been surprising so far, at least for me, the
- 5:03Speaker 1: step that he has taken. Now he through forty yards,
- 5:06Speaker 1: three touchdowns, no interceptions, and DJ I think they have
- 5:10Speaker 1: two number one wide receivers, am I right? Yeah? And
- 5:14Speaker 1: they compliment each other. I mean they're like polar opposites
- 5:17Speaker 1: physically when you look at him with Davante Smith and A. J.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Brown and just kind of stylistically how they play, but
- 5:22Speaker 1: then you're throwing Goddard, who's one of the best tight
- 5:24Speaker 1: ends in the NFL right now. I mean, Jale Hurt's
- 5:26Speaker 1: got a lot of weapons to play with. And you're right, Collegen,
- 5:29Speaker 1: he is. He is throwing the ball accurately, he's making
- 5:31Speaker 1: good decisions. And then you added his legs on top
- 5:34Speaker 1: of that. It's made this offense fun to watch. Plus
- 5:37Speaker 1: it speaking of fun to watch, I know that this
- 5:39Speaker 1: might be a little petty, but that Eagles defense was
- 5:41Speaker 1: all over Carson. Wentz sacked him a career high nine
- 5:45Speaker 1: times in that game against Washington. Yeah, Carson probably gonna
- 5:50Speaker 1: want to get the ball a little quicker. He was
- 5:51Speaker 1: holding it forever. The Eagles got interior pocket push and
- 5:54Speaker 1: then coming off the ages they were able to finish.
- 5:56Speaker 1: So a nice sign for their pass us to get
- 5:59Speaker 1: them heated up a little bit. We know where they
- 6:00Speaker 1: are in the second area of some good players there
- 6:02Speaker 1: as well. So good signs over roll for the Eagles
- 6:05Speaker 1: both sides of the ball. Okay, So you were saying
- 6:07Speaker 1: that if the Eagles played the Bills, the Bills would
- 6:10Speaker 1: probably win. Correct um, But yeah, would you agree with
- 6:14Speaker 1: I mean, look, you're you're Eagles fan, Colleen, But if
- 6:16Speaker 1: they were to pay in terms of the expectation and who, yeah,
- 6:21Speaker 1: the expectation of who would win that game, if they
- 6:23Speaker 1: were to play both teams healthy tomorrow, neutral field, I
- 6:26Speaker 1: think everybody would pick the Bills. Well, d Day, you
- 6:28Speaker 1: know me pretty well by now. I like to set
- 6:30Speaker 1: the bar extremely low. I've talked about it on this
- 6:32Speaker 1: program before. My expectations are on the ground, so then
- 6:35Speaker 1: I'm never disappointed. But do you think that the Eagles
- 6:38Speaker 1: are the best team in the NFC? NFC I can
- 6:42Speaker 1: get with I'll go with you. I'll go with you
- 6:44Speaker 1: on that NFC right now, they're they're playing the best. Okay, alright, fair,
- 6:47Speaker 1: let's go though to the next team. Because last week
- 6:50Speaker 1: you heard at the top of the show, Dan Hans
- 6:52Speaker 1: has said that if the Dolphins beat the Bills that
- 6:54Speaker 1: he would have to put them at number one. He
- 6:56Speaker 1: did not do that. I wish you weren't a liar, Dan,
- 6:58Speaker 1: But here we are right now, Dolphins are number three. Yeah,
- 7:03Speaker 1: I mean, he's not a man of his word. Spoiler alert.
- 7:06Speaker 1: I mean, raise your hand if you're not shocked by that, Okay,
- 7:09Speaker 1: that would be me. But the Miami Dolphins. What they
- 7:13Speaker 1: did in that game. Their defense was on the field
- 7:14Speaker 1: the whole game, Colleen. They're out there for like ninety
- 7:16Speaker 1: plays and they just hung in there. With the most
- 7:19Speaker 1: explosive offense in the in the Buffalo Bills, they competed.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I think Javon Holland's really want to kind of the
- 7:25Speaker 1: bright young stars in this league. You saw him blitzing
- 7:27Speaker 1: when they went with their cover zero looks. You saw
- 7:30Speaker 1: his range in the back half where they were when
- 7:31Speaker 1: they were in a two shell. And then you look
- 7:34Speaker 1: offensively too, was making not just kind of the lay
- 7:37Speaker 1: up throws. He made some pinpoint tight window throws in
- 7:40Speaker 1: this game. Didn't have a lot of opportunities, but he
- 7:43Speaker 1: maximized him in a big way. Um you look. I
- 7:46Speaker 1: I still feel like in the long run, the Buffalo
- 7:48Speaker 1: Bills are the class of of the a f C
- 7:51Speaker 1: and of this division. But tip your captain the Miami Dolphins.
- 7:53Speaker 1: That's a big win the Bills. They were dealing with
- 7:56Speaker 1: a lot of First of all, I want to know
- 7:57Speaker 1: if Ken Dorsey is okay, somebody should check on him
- 7:59Speaker 1: for sure. But in terms of time of possession, they
- 8:02Speaker 1: doubled The Bills did the time of possession on the
- 8:04Speaker 1: field compared to the Dolphins. They got ninety plays off
- 8:08Speaker 1: in ninety degrees humidity. I'm a little worried about that defense.
- 8:13Speaker 1: The Bills are the Dolphins defense on a short week
- 8:16Speaker 1: playing the Bengals Thursday night football. Should that be a
- 8:19Speaker 1: concern considering this is a long season, the Dolphins are
- 8:22Speaker 1: on a tear, and now they're going in a primetime game. Yeah,
- 8:27Speaker 1: I mean, look, that's that's a that's a tall order
- 8:30Speaker 1: coming up, and that's a Bengals team will get to
- 8:32Speaker 1: in a little bit. That's starting to figure things out
- 8:34Speaker 1: now after a slow start. So yeah, that's a that's
- 8:37Speaker 1: game you've gotta be ready for. If your the Miami Dolphins.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I will go back to Ken Dorsey real quick, though.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I haven't seen somebody that upset since Handis woke up
- 8:45Speaker 1: in the morning and one of his two T shirts
- 8:47Speaker 1: that he wears was dirty. That is another level of
- 8:50Speaker 1: anger that we saw up there in the booth. Well,
- 8:52Speaker 1: that's exactly how he's going to react when he finds
- 8:53Speaker 1: out that you're on the show. That's all right, he's
- 8:55Speaker 1: over in London. He can deal with it and go
- 8:57Speaker 1: to a pub. You can get a Scotch egg, you
- 8:59Speaker 1: can do the whole deal. Um. But with the Dolphins,
- 9:03Speaker 1: when you see Tyreek Jalen Waddle to a tongue of Valoa,
- 9:07Speaker 1: did you expect to us to take this step this year,
- 9:10Speaker 1: this quickly in the year, I don't know, to this level,
- 9:16Speaker 1: you know, I thought you would definitely see the best
- 9:18Speaker 1: version of two. I think people forget about the injury
- 9:20Speaker 1: he arrived in the NFL with. I think he's further
- 9:22Speaker 1: removed from that. Um, that was a big injury. So
- 9:24Speaker 1: for him to be healthier and then for him to
- 9:26Speaker 1: have a track team around, and we saw that at Alabama.
- 9:29Speaker 1: You know, he had big time speed weapons at Alabama.
- 9:31Speaker 1: All those whiteouts now playing in the NFL, you're looking
- 9:34Speaker 1: at one of them here in Waddle was his teammate.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Once again, he played really well because he's a point guard,
- 9:39Speaker 1: he's a distributor, and this is now a scheme that
- 9:42Speaker 1: fits him. This is a position group on the outside
- 9:45Speaker 1: that matches his skill set. So not surprised he's playing well.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Maybe a little surprise that it's it's at this elite
- 9:51Speaker 1: level thus far through three weeks. Okay, so the Dolphins
- 9:54Speaker 1: ranked at number three I mentioned Tyreek Hill. Let's go
- 9:57Speaker 1: to his former team, the Chiefs now at five. They
- 10:00Speaker 1: lost the game to the Colts seventeen. There were a
- 10:04Speaker 1: lot of his stakes on special teams. But how do
- 10:06Speaker 1: you feel about the Chiefs with the number five ranking? Yeah,
- 10:11Speaker 1: I think that's probably about right. Um, you know, I
- 10:13Speaker 1: don't think they've figured it all out yet, this kind
- 10:16Speaker 1: of new brand of football that they're playing minus Tyreek Kill. Um,
- 10:19Speaker 1: you know they're adjusting and you read still kind of
- 10:21Speaker 1: figuring this thing out. I have full confidence he's going
- 10:24Speaker 1: to figure it out going forward. But they're not as vertical,
- 10:27Speaker 1: they're not quite as dynamic and explosive as we've seen
- 10:30Speaker 1: in years past. You see, Mahomes has been just a
- 10:33Speaker 1: little bit off that Charger game, or the chance for
- 10:35Speaker 1: several turnovers in that game, the Chargers couldn't catch them in.
- 10:38Speaker 1: So they haven't found their footing yet. Offensively, I'm confident
- 10:42Speaker 1: they will probably pretty soon. Defensively though, probably, and they've
- 10:45Speaker 1: gotten younger, they've gotten faster, and I think they're much
- 10:48Speaker 1: better on the defensive side of the ball. So I
- 10:50Speaker 1: think they're more balanced team and I think the best
- 10:53Speaker 1: is yet to come from the Chiefs, So I think
- 10:55Speaker 1: five is a good spot for them. Nick Bolton looked
- 10:57Speaker 1: great on the defensive side of the ball for the Chiefs,
- 11:00Speaker 1: unbelievable nine tackles, two sacks, had a great play on
- 11:04Speaker 1: Jonathan taylor Um in the fourth quarters a little later
- 11:07Speaker 1: in the game. But special teams feels like that could
- 11:10Speaker 1: be an issue. Is that something that is correctable? I mean,
- 11:14Speaker 1: you look at what happened. They had the miskicks, they
- 11:16Speaker 1: had the fumbled punt, they had the fake field goal
- 11:19Speaker 1: attempt that just completely failed. That was what did you
- 11:23Speaker 1: think of that? And Andy Reid's decision to pull that
- 11:25Speaker 1: move well, and he's never going to coach scared um.
- 11:29Speaker 1: That's that's what you love about and I think that's
- 11:31Speaker 1: why guys love playing for him. He's always kind of
- 11:32Speaker 1: in that attack mode and being aggressive in all three phases.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I'm not going to get carried away with with that.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Faster their game. They'll get that scored away. They're gonna
- 11:40Speaker 1: get healthier, and special teams first and foremost that will
- 11:42Speaker 1: help them. But uh now, I mean Andy Reid, You've
- 11:45Speaker 1: you've known him forever, Colleen, going back to all those
- 11:47Speaker 1: years in Philly, all these years in Kansas City. The
- 11:50Speaker 1: first part of the season, they're gonna they're gonna kind
- 11:52Speaker 1: of figure out what their formula is and then they're
- 11:54Speaker 1: gonna get hot and they're gonna get rolling. That's true.
- 11:56Speaker 1: So they have the Bucks Sunday Night Football coming up
- 11:59Speaker 1: this week. Let's take a look now at the less
- 12:01Speaker 1: the next few teams. We've got teams six through ten.
- 12:04Speaker 1: The Rams they stand pat at six. We got the
- 12:07Speaker 1: Ravens up three spots at seven, the Bucks down four
- 12:10Speaker 1: at eight, the Vikings plus one at nine, and then
- 12:13Speaker 1: the Bengals sitting there at number ten, up to spots. So, uh,
- 12:19Speaker 1: when we look at the Ravens, remember when Lamar was
- 12:22Speaker 1: just a runner. I mean that feels like it was
- 12:24Speaker 1: a decade ago at this point. So there are the
- 12:26Speaker 1: Ravens at number seven this week. Yeah, and you know,
- 12:31Speaker 1: when you watch the tape of that game, the things
- 12:33Speaker 1: that got me fired up about Lamar number one is
- 12:35Speaker 1: there throwing it in the red zone, especially down the
- 12:37Speaker 1: tight red zone. That's how they're cashing in drives and
- 12:40Speaker 1: they're getting sevens, not threes because of the quickness with
- 12:44Speaker 1: which he's making decisions. The threat of him as a
- 12:46Speaker 1: runner is always evident that's going to have an impact
- 12:49Speaker 1: on the game, about to be able to cash those
- 12:51Speaker 1: in with sevens. And then in the run game, his
- 12:53Speaker 1: explosive runs, we're all off a variation of his own read,
- 12:56Speaker 1: some of them outside, some of them inside, kind of
- 12:58Speaker 1: those power reads inside, and they were getting huge chunks
- 13:01Speaker 1: and he doesn't take hits. I was telling Bucky this
- 13:03Speaker 1: the other day, colleague. You watch Lamar Jackson run in
- 13:06Speaker 1: the middle of the field. Every other quarterback gets hit.
- 13:10Speaker 1: He doesn't. It's like watching the bob sled. He is
- 13:12Speaker 1: literally sprinting and then he just jumps in the bobsled
- 13:15Speaker 1: and just falls back and then he doesn't get hit.
- 13:18Speaker 1: It's a technique that the rest of the league needs
- 13:20Speaker 1: to acquire because it's not the slide, it's it's a
- 13:23Speaker 1: bob sled technique. I've never seen anything like it. Now
- 13:25Speaker 1: everyone is going to have to start copycatting that. I
- 13:27Speaker 1: get it, Lamar. He's so athletic, he's such a good runner.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Now we're seeing him take that next step in the
- 13:34Speaker 1: passing game too. He leads the league and passing touchdowns
- 13:37Speaker 1: pass a rating. But the rest of the run game, though,
- 13:40Speaker 1: on the ground, the Ravens. They're they're really putting a
- 13:43Speaker 1: lot on Lamar. Isn't too much. I mean you really
- 13:46Speaker 1: shouldn't have your quarterback be you're leading rusher. Yeah, I
- 13:50Speaker 1: mean you want more there. But to me, again, I
- 13:53Speaker 1: just go back to the damage. Okay, you running the
- 13:55Speaker 1: ball a lot. What kind of hits is he taken?
- 13:57Speaker 1: What kind of damage has he taken? And he's the
- 13:59Speaker 1: best I've ever seen at it in terms of avoiding
- 14:01Speaker 1: big hits. So when you can use him that way
- 14:04Speaker 1: and get a big chunk place and you're not you're
- 14:06Speaker 1: not taking any shots, I don't see why they would
- 14:08Speaker 1: slow down until they get the rest of this run
- 14:11Speaker 1: game cranked up. So uh, you know, I wouldn't change
- 14:14Speaker 1: it to me. That formula that they used in that game,
- 14:16Speaker 1: I think that's their formula they're gonna have to use
- 14:18Speaker 1: going forward until they get these backs cranked up. And
- 14:21Speaker 1: speaking of the passing game with Lamar, they lost Marquis
- 14:24Speaker 1: Brown obviously, but Devin Duvernet and some other of these
- 14:28Speaker 1: wide receivers they're stepping up. Yeah, you know they catch
- 14:32Speaker 1: a ball. Well, when you look at what Bateman did
- 14:35Speaker 1: the previous week, and then you look at Duverney. They've
- 14:37Speaker 1: got guys kind of a varying skill set. I don't
- 14:39Speaker 1: know there's a true number one in the mix, but
- 14:42Speaker 1: it's a nice combination of some speed down the field,
- 14:45Speaker 1: um and some fields, some instincts and feel when you're
- 14:47Speaker 1: working underneath. See do Rene catching the touchdown right there.
- 14:50Speaker 1: So again, not not the ald name team on the outside,
- 14:54Speaker 1: but Lamar Jackson is elevating the play of everybody around him. Yep.
- 14:57Speaker 1: So the Ravens defense, they came through uh in this
- 15:01Speaker 1: game to beat the Patriots. So now the Ravens they
- 15:03Speaker 1: faced the Bills on Sunday at one o'clock. The Bills,
- 15:06Speaker 1: I should mention that they were without in that game
- 15:09Speaker 1: against the Dolphins, four of their DBS, two of their
- 15:11Speaker 1: defensive tackles. They lost another cornerback during the game, so
- 15:16Speaker 1: we'll see health wise how they are. But we go
- 15:19Speaker 1: to just outside the top ten, and I want to
- 15:21Speaker 1: talk about the Niners because that game that we saw
- 15:24Speaker 1: this week, it was, um a little bit of a
- 15:27Speaker 1: chore to watch. Look, I I understand people love defense
- 15:31Speaker 1: and you know, defensive battles. That's not me. I'm here
- 15:34Speaker 1: for the offense. I'm here for the touchdowns. I'm here
- 15:36Speaker 1: for dbs getting burned and juked and the whole thing.
- 15:39Speaker 1: But the Niners right now at eleven, they were nine
- 15:43Speaker 1: last week. You have a lot of injuries now on
- 15:47Speaker 1: the offensive line as well, Trent Williams with the high
- 15:50Speaker 1: ankles rain. I mean, that's the blind side of Jimmy
- 15:53Speaker 1: g So what do you feel, how do you feel
- 15:55Speaker 1: the trajectory of this team is with them at eleven. Well,
- 16:01Speaker 1: I'm a full disclosure. I picked them to go to
- 16:03Speaker 1: the super Bowl before the season started, so I was
- 16:04Speaker 1: kind of banking on the upside of this team, and
- 16:07Speaker 1: I just feel like there's a stealing with Jimmy. Look,
- 16:10Speaker 1: Jimmy might have a little bit higher floor than Trey Lance.
- 16:12Speaker 1: And I think some people were you know, you heard
- 16:14Speaker 1: the hot takes, right, Oh, this is the best thing
- 16:16Speaker 1: that happened to the Niners because of what we've seen
- 16:18Speaker 1: from Trey Lance in a couple of preseason games. Look,
- 16:21Speaker 1: the reason they drafted Trey Lance and the reason why
- 16:23Speaker 1: they committed to him going forward. They were going to
- 16:26Speaker 1: weather the storm as he kind of grew and developed
- 16:29Speaker 1: and kind of live with some of those mistakes because
- 16:31Speaker 1: they knew the upside and the ceiling that he would
- 16:34Speaker 1: bring in terms of being able to create plays with
- 16:36Speaker 1: his legs, create explosive plays down the field with his arm.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Jimmy's not going to give you that. He's he's a
- 16:42Speaker 1: very very low ceiling quarterback. Maybe a high floor if
- 16:45Speaker 1: that gets you excited, But to win a championship, um,
- 16:48Speaker 1: I just don't think they're good enough at that position. Now,
- 16:50Speaker 1: you had sprinkling all these injuries that they've been dealing
- 16:53Speaker 1: with as well. Yeah, I don't feel great about that pick.
- 16:56Speaker 1: I could do over. I'm sorry. I'm sorry to hear that.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I'm sure Dan Hansis is somewhere feeling great that you
- 17:00Speaker 1: were hurting in that way. But Jimmy G. He kind
- 17:02Speaker 1: of played by the way. Can we back up? Go ahead?
- 17:05Speaker 1: Can we put a QR code? Can we put a
- 17:07Speaker 1: QR code on the screen and you can just scan
- 17:10Speaker 1: it and get Dan's real time reaction as watching. That's
- 17:14Speaker 1: what I want. I would love that. We're going to
- 17:16Speaker 1: effort it see if we can get it by the
- 17:18Speaker 1: end of the show. But I do want to know
- 17:20Speaker 1: Jimmy G. We've seen him in the past. We know
- 17:24Speaker 1: sort of where his floor and his ceiling are, at
- 17:26Speaker 1: least we think we do. But how much of his
- 17:29Speaker 1: play can be contributed to the fact that he really
- 17:33Speaker 1: hasn't played at all? Is any of this rust? Is
- 17:35Speaker 1: that the fact that he hasn't been getting reps. He
- 17:37Speaker 1: just started practicing with the team. He didn't have a preseason. Yeah,
- 17:41Speaker 1: I see now, scan QR code right there. I want
- 17:44Speaker 1: to read his power rankings. I want to see That's
- 17:47Speaker 1: what I want. Yes, I want to see Dan, not
- 17:50Speaker 1: his list. Uh yeah, exactly. No, He's got to get
- 17:55Speaker 1: a little bit better. That's a fair point. You know,
- 17:56Speaker 1: he didn't get a lot of reps, didn't get any
- 17:58Speaker 1: reps really a training camp, and kind of thrust into
- 18:00Speaker 1: this role. But I'm also a firm believer at this
- 18:02Speaker 1: point in time, you kind of are who you are.
- 18:04Speaker 1: God bless Dan Orlovsky. By the way, how happy was
- 18:06Speaker 1: he that it wasn't quite as egregious? I'm still giving
- 18:13Speaker 1: Dan a hard time. He's a good buddy. I mean,
- 18:14Speaker 1: because Dan was a good three ft out of the
- 18:17Speaker 1: back of the end zone. This was just a you
- 18:18Speaker 1: know this this is barely yeah, but eight inches. It's
- 18:23Speaker 1: tough on the white, that's not It's tough when you
- 18:26Speaker 1: just kind of lose your your your track. You don't
- 18:29Speaker 1: know where you are on the field, you don't know
- 18:30Speaker 1: where your train of thought is. I mean, I understand that,
- 18:33Speaker 1: but yeah, you gotta you gotta be a little bit
- 18:35Speaker 1: more aware than that. So the Niners, they have the
- 18:39Speaker 1: Rams coming up Monday Night football. UM, let's take a
- 18:42Speaker 1: look now at some of these other teams eleven through fifteen.
- 18:44Speaker 1: We just talked about the Niners. At eleven, we got
- 18:47Speaker 1: the Titans. They shot up the board, up eight spots.
- 18:51Speaker 1: They're at number twelve. Now, the Cowboys at thirteen, also
- 18:54Speaker 1: up eight spots, the Broncos at fourteen, up three, and
- 18:57Speaker 1: then the Chargers. I'm sorry, DJ, the Chargers down eight
- 19:01Speaker 1: months at fifteen. So the Chargers, Um, why can't they
- 19:09Speaker 1: have nice things? I every year I do this with
- 19:12Speaker 1: the Colts, and I do this with the Chargers, and
- 19:14Speaker 1: I'm always like, this is it. This is the Chargers year.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I understand. Justin Herbert he got hurt on that Thursday
- 19:21Speaker 1: night game, his ribs, they were bruised. But this was
- 19:24Speaker 1: a game where they had so many injuries DJ, Like
- 19:28Speaker 1: they lost Rashawn Slater for the whole season. Joey Bosa
- 19:32Speaker 1: had a groin injury wide receiver Jalen Guiton. He was
- 19:35Speaker 1: eventually carded off. I mean, this was this was rough
- 19:37Speaker 1: to watch, and I'm sure for you calling the game
- 19:40Speaker 1: just as much. Yeah. I looked over at Money, Uh,
- 19:45Speaker 1: he's doing the play by play and I said, a
- 19:47Speaker 1: little bit before half we go to commercial and I said, Matt,
- 19:49Speaker 1: you realize there without five Pro Bowl players right now.
- 19:53Speaker 1: You didn't have Keenan Allen to start the game, Pro
- 19:55Speaker 1: Bowl receiver. You didn't have Corey Lindsley, All Pro center.
- 19:57Speaker 1: You didn't have j C. Jackson out there. So that's three.
- 20:01Speaker 1: That's three to start the game at all. Before halftime,
- 20:03Speaker 1: you lose your all Pro tackle for the season and
- 20:05Speaker 1: Joey Bosa probably for a significant stretch with a growing injury.
- 20:09Speaker 1: So five key guys. Oh, by the way, your quarterbacks
- 20:12Speaker 1: out there with with the cartilage issue and his ribs.
- 20:15Speaker 1: So look, you know, the Jags are a much improved team.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I don't want to take anything away from them. I'm
- 20:20Speaker 1: sure we'll talk about them as we go along here. Um,
- 20:22Speaker 1: you know, they're an exciting they're an exciting young team,
- 20:25Speaker 1: and I think they've really hit on these young picks.
- 20:27Speaker 1: But you look out there and I'm like, yeah, they
- 20:29Speaker 1: beat the Chargers, but it didn't really feel like the Chargers.
- 20:31Speaker 1: I mean, you have a lot of key guys missing
- 20:33Speaker 1: in that game. I think justin trying to feel himself
- 20:36Speaker 1: out a little bit, you know, a little bit cautious
- 20:38Speaker 1: maybe early on um and then you saw him get
- 20:41Speaker 1: a little more comfortable late in the game. Afortunately the
- 20:43Speaker 1: game was out of reach and you saw kind of
- 20:45Speaker 1: a typical, ridiculous Herbert throw down the field. But that
- 20:49Speaker 1: was actually the play guy and got hurt. So even
- 20:50Speaker 1: a good thing ends up being a bad thing on
- 20:52Speaker 1: that one. Yeah, there's just so much talent not on
- 20:54Speaker 1: the field. What out Keenan Allen, he's still dealing with
- 20:58Speaker 1: the hamstring. You have no J. C. Jackson, Corey Lindsley
- 21:01Speaker 1: the center. I mean, this is just so much attrition
- 21:04Speaker 1: to deal with. And their record one and two, the
- 21:07Speaker 1: only win that they have is against the only three Raiders. Yeah,
- 21:13Speaker 1: it's it's true. They get Kansas City all they can
- 21:15Speaker 1: handle in that game on Thursday night. They got a
- 21:18Speaker 1: little bit extra time, which I think probably you know,
- 21:20Speaker 1: benefited Herbert, giving him a chance to play in this ballgame.
- 21:24Speaker 1: But yeah, you come out against a Jacksonville team that's
- 21:26Speaker 1: young and hungry and physical and uh and kind of
- 21:29Speaker 1: just got beat up. I mean, there's no other way
- 21:30Speaker 1: to put it. I mean, Jacksonville was just a more
- 21:32Speaker 1: physical team on both sides. So, you know, the good
- 21:34Speaker 1: news for the Chargers, you know, they're gonna have to
- 21:36Speaker 1: navigate around Slater. That's a huge loss for them. That's
- 21:38Speaker 1: a big drop off from him to the next man up.
- 21:41Speaker 1: But hopefully you're gonna get Keenan Allen back. You know,
- 21:43Speaker 1: Donald Palm hasn't played yet this year. Hopefully they'll get
- 21:46Speaker 1: him in the mix. They're gonna have weapons, you know,
- 21:48Speaker 1: with Mike Williams and you're seeing DeAndre Carter. They've they've
- 21:51Speaker 1: got weapons. Colleen, it's just a matter of can they
- 21:54Speaker 1: hold up long enough upfront for Justin to be able
- 21:57Speaker 1: to capitalize on that. Well, that's the thing. How much
- 21:59Speaker 1: will that injury hurt them going forward? Because even coming
- 22:02Speaker 1: into the season, the offensive line was the big is
- 22:04Speaker 1: question mark. If you would have told me, um, you know,
- 22:10Speaker 1: who are the players that you can't afford to lose
- 22:13Speaker 1: if you're the Chargers, I would start obviously with Herbert
- 22:15Speaker 1: would be number one. I would probably say Derwin James
- 22:18Speaker 1: would be number two for all that he does for
- 22:20Speaker 1: that defense and you can't replace him. And I always
- 22:22Speaker 1: said Slater number three. I mean, this is the best
- 22:25Speaker 1: young left tackle in the NFL. It allows you to
- 22:27Speaker 1: help the right side with Trey Pipkins. You can help
- 22:30Speaker 1: with tied into a back because later you can leave
- 22:33Speaker 1: him one on one all game long. Now you're in
- 22:35Speaker 1: a situation where you're gonna have to side to side
- 22:38Speaker 1: week to week. Who am I going to help? And
- 22:40Speaker 1: am I gonna keep guys in? I'm gonna keep it
- 22:42Speaker 1: tight in? Am I gonna keep it back in? But
- 22:43Speaker 1: I've got to now kind of support both of these edges.
- 22:46Speaker 1: So that's gonna be uh, it's gonna be a challenge
- 22:49Speaker 1: for Joe Lombardi as he designs a game plan weekend
- 22:51Speaker 1: and week out, because man, when you when you're struggling
- 22:54Speaker 1: a little bit on both sides, somebody's gonna be one
- 22:56Speaker 1: on one. You're gonna have one on one matchup and
- 22:58Speaker 1: and nothing else you can do about it. So the Chargers,
- 23:01Speaker 1: they are sliding down the rankings, down eight spots at
- 23:05Speaker 1: that fifteen spot, and now they have the Texans coming up. Um,
- 23:08Speaker 1: so DJ gonna let you go grab a drink. You
- 23:11Speaker 1: can send a mean tweet too, hands us whatever you
- 23:13Speaker 1: gotta do to get ready for the second half of
- 23:14Speaker 1: the show. We're gonna take a quick break here. But
- 23:17Speaker 1: next I don't follow him, I don't follow good. I'm
- 23:21Speaker 1: glad the team's creeping up in the ranking. Z're not
- 23:25Speaker 1: gonna want to sleep on them, including Jacksonville. Are you
- 23:28Speaker 1: for real? That's next? H e J. Let's get into
- 23:42Speaker 1: power Moves presented by Energizer. It's the biggest risers of
- 23:46Speaker 1: the week, the teams that will not be denied. So
- 23:50Speaker 1: we have the Jaguars shooting up ten spots on the list.
- 23:54Speaker 1: The Titans are up eight, the Cowboys also up eight,
- 23:57Speaker 1: and then the Dolphins and the Browns both up five
- 23:59Speaker 1: spots after big Week three games. But the Jaguars, though,
- 24:04Speaker 1: that is the team that is everyone is talking about
- 24:07Speaker 1: at this point and they're now eighteen in the rankings.
- 24:10Speaker 1: A huge jump this week. What did you see? Because
- 24:13Speaker 1: I saw Doug Peterson really getting in a groove with
- 24:16Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence. That was a career game for him. Yeah,
- 24:20Speaker 1: and that's you know, kind of what they call him
- 24:22Speaker 1: the game. I was telling money that dougged us such
- 24:24Speaker 1: a good job of getting a quarterback comfortable at the
- 24:26Speaker 1: start of a game. He's gonna get you a quick out,
- 24:28Speaker 1: he's gonna get you a screen to get you very comfortable,
- 24:31Speaker 1: and then he's gonna expand the offense as the game
- 24:33Speaker 1: goes along, and you're seeing Trevor Lawrence kind of be
- 24:37Speaker 1: that guy that I and everyone else anticipated he would
- 24:40Speaker 1: be coming out of Clemson. He's confident, he's big, he's strong,
- 24:43Speaker 1: he's athletic. They can design movement in the offense with him.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Then he's able to create when you get some pocket pressure,
- 24:50Speaker 1: which he did for a couple of big plays. He's
- 24:52Speaker 1: just a totally different guy than what we saw it
- 24:55Speaker 1: last year. He's confident, so excited about him and his development.
- 24:59Speaker 1: I think you can look on the defensive side of
- 25:01Speaker 1: the ball and give Trent Balki a lot of credit.
- 25:02Speaker 1: I mean, they went out and nailed this draft. Trayvon
- 25:05Speaker 1: Walker has been outstanding. Devin Lloyd I thought was their
- 25:08Speaker 1: best defensive player in that game. The rookie at a
- 25:11Speaker 1: utah is just rangey and athletic. Here he is with
- 25:13Speaker 1: a pick on a ball off Sony Michelle's hands, which
- 25:17Speaker 1: is another question maybe about Austin Necklor not playing enough,
- 25:19Speaker 1: But we've already passed on the Chargers, so I won't
- 25:21Speaker 1: go back there. Um, But this is this is a
- 25:24Speaker 1: team on the defensive side of the ball that's very big,
- 25:26Speaker 1: very rangey, very athletic. The Jags and Trevor Lawrence. Right now,
- 25:30Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence just looks so comfortable, so confident. I think
- 25:35Speaker 1: that Doug Peterson was sort of the anecdote that they needed,
- 25:39Speaker 1: especially after last year. But how long will we see
- 25:42Speaker 1: this from the Jags? This is something that you think
- 25:45Speaker 1: is going to continue the rest of the season, because
- 25:47Speaker 1: they do have Philly coming up this week and Doug
- 25:49Speaker 1: Peterson is returning right after Carson Wentz returned. This was
- 25:52Speaker 1: back to back weeks. Now, yeah, that's gonna be a
- 25:55Speaker 1: fun one. That might be the game I'm looking forward
- 25:56Speaker 1: to more than any other this week, just to see
- 25:58Speaker 1: how those two stack up against one another. I think
- 26:01Speaker 1: what they're doing defensively is a hundred percent sustainable. Um,
- 26:04Speaker 1: I really believe in Trevor Lawrence. I just think the
- 26:07Speaker 1: offensive line wise, they played well in that game. But
- 26:10Speaker 1: to me, the sum is greater than the individual parts.
- 26:12Speaker 1: And I think there's going to be games where they
- 26:15Speaker 1: get exposed a little bit up front if they can't
- 26:17Speaker 1: run the ball effectively. So, yes, they are much improved. Yes,
- 26:21Speaker 1: I think they have a chance to be a five team.
- 26:23Speaker 1: I really do. But I think there's gonna be some
- 26:25Speaker 1: weeks where you're gonna see some leakage upfront with that
- 26:27Speaker 1: offensive line. But you look in that division right now, Colleen,
- 26:31Speaker 1: and I mean, does anybody blow you away? Scary in
- 26:35Speaker 1: that division if you're Jacksonville. I don't think so. No,
- 26:37Speaker 1: not at all. So the Jags they are now at eighteen,
- 26:40Speaker 1: and the rankings they snapped at eighteen game road losing
- 26:43Speaker 1: streak against the Chargers. Again, sorry Salt Lune. There, DJ
- 26:48Speaker 1: will move on. Now. We have teen, sixteen through twenty
- 26:51Speaker 1: two here and the Lions they are They have not
- 26:55Speaker 1: moved at all. They remain unchanged at sixteen. The Browns
- 26:58Speaker 1: at seventeen, up five spots. We just mentioned the Jags
- 27:00Speaker 1: up ten at eighteen. We got the Saints sliding back
- 27:04Speaker 1: six spots at nineteen, the Cardinals at twenty they're also
- 27:06Speaker 1: down six. The Raiders another team down six spots, in
- 27:09Speaker 1: the rankings at one and then the Giants coming in
- 27:13Speaker 1: at down three spots after the Monday night game against
- 27:19Speaker 1: the Cowboys. So the Lions, though, yes, they are the
- 27:22Speaker 1: same as last week, but DJ Dan and I sort
- 27:25Speaker 1: of have this soft spot for Dan Campbell and the
- 27:28Speaker 1: Lions after Hard Knocks. I'm sure we're not the only ones,
- 27:31Speaker 1: but after doing the podcast and doing all of these
- 27:33Speaker 1: deep dives, like Jared Golf, he's not that bad. Do
- 27:37Speaker 1: you agree? What have you seen from this offense? Well,
- 27:41Speaker 1: first of all, I was so excited when I heard
- 27:43Speaker 1: there would be a Hard Knocks podcast and I heard
- 27:45Speaker 1: you were going to be involved in it, and I
- 27:47Speaker 1: was like, I'm in, count me in. And I was like,
- 27:48Speaker 1: oh my gosh, they've got hands this with her, but
- 27:51Speaker 1: episodes because of a little bit, but just to your part,
- 27:56Speaker 1: just to your part, and then fast forward like a
- 27:58Speaker 1: little like fifteen or thirty second fast forward button. Usually
- 28:02Speaker 1: have to push it multiple times, who's damn you know,
- 28:04Speaker 1: on and on and on. Yeah, oh my gosh. Yeah,
- 28:08Speaker 1: but I'm I'm look, I'm I'm buying. I'm buying Dan
- 28:11Speaker 1: Campbell and the Lions and what they're doing. It's the
- 28:13Speaker 1: most improved offense in the league. I think you've seen
- 28:15Speaker 1: the investment in the offensive line, what they've done over
- 28:19Speaker 1: the last few years. Now, you're getting a chance to
- 28:21Speaker 1: have two things that every team wants with their offensive line.
- 28:24Speaker 1: You get a chance to have some talent with some
- 28:26Speaker 1: first round guys in their pens, Will being kind of
- 28:28Speaker 1: the leader of the bunch. You're seeing talent and then
- 28:30Speaker 1: you're seeing continuity. They've got a chance to play with
- 28:32Speaker 1: each other for a few years now, they're getting comfortable
- 28:34Speaker 1: with the communication has been good. Jared Goff is you know,
- 28:37Speaker 1: if I was going to use kind of the one
- 28:39Speaker 1: word evaluation for Jared Goff, he's competent, Like he's just
- 28:42Speaker 1: he's a competent quarterback. Is the outstanding I don't think so,
- 28:45Speaker 1: But I think he's plenty competent. You put him behind
- 28:47Speaker 1: a good offensive line, you've got a big time running back,
- 28:50Speaker 1: and you've got some guys that have some quickness and
- 28:52Speaker 1: can uncover like I'm Arons st Brown, and you've got
- 28:55Speaker 1: a creative system. So I love what they've done offensively.
- 28:59Speaker 1: It's the most improved offense in the league, and they
- 29:01Speaker 1: play really really hard on defense. They're still missing pieces
- 29:04Speaker 1: and need to add as we go forward, which they will.
- 29:07Speaker 1: But I've never been this optimistic about the Lions. It's
- 29:10Speaker 1: been a long time since you can get excited about
- 29:12Speaker 1: the direction of Detroit Lions. Most improved offense in the league. Wow,
- 29:17Speaker 1: I love that Ben Johnson. I think he's been doing
- 29:19Speaker 1: a really good job just having creativity with the play calls.
- 29:22Speaker 1: That offensive line looks better. Jamal Williams, he had those
- 29:25Speaker 1: two big rushing touchdowns in the game. But I was
- 29:29Speaker 1: really curious and Dan Campbell. I love the fact that
- 29:31Speaker 1: he was so transparent about not going forward on fourth down,
- 29:35Speaker 1: saying that you know, he regrets not going forward, that
- 29:37Speaker 1: he messed up there, kind of owning up to that.
- 29:40Speaker 1: But I was just so so flu mixed by the
- 29:44Speaker 1: fact that he didn't go for it on fourth down
- 29:46Speaker 1: after trusting his team the entire game. He went for
- 29:49Speaker 1: it what like six times and I think converted on
- 29:52Speaker 1: four other times, and then when it mattered most, he
- 29:55Speaker 1: decided Nat What did you think of that? Well, first
- 29:59Speaker 1: of all, isn't it nice to be able to use
- 30:01Speaker 1: big words when Dan's not here and actually somebody understands
- 30:04Speaker 1: what you're saying very quick? Yeah, that was out of character.
- 30:12Speaker 1: That's not that's not who they are, and that's one
- 30:14Speaker 1: thing you're always trying to find as an identity. I
- 30:16Speaker 1: love the fact that he just he just owned up
- 30:18Speaker 1: to it. It was I got a mistake. How many
- 30:20Speaker 1: how many coaches you know try and talk around things
- 30:23Speaker 1: and defend themselves. I'm all for accountability, and I think you,
- 30:26Speaker 1: well made a mistake. Won't happen again. That's not who
- 30:29Speaker 1: we are. It's not who I am. And I love
- 30:31Speaker 1: that about Dan Campbell. Be authentic, be honest. He's nothing
- 30:34Speaker 1: if not that. How could you not love Dan Campbell?
- 30:37Speaker 1: Dan Campbell and the Lions. They have the Seahawks coming
- 30:40Speaker 1: up Sunday at one pm Eastern DJ. Now, let's go
- 30:42Speaker 1: to the biggest drops since week one. It is the
- 30:45Speaker 1: power failure. We're not mad, We're just disappointed at this point. Well,
- 30:48Speaker 1: some of us are mad out there in the streets.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Expectations were high for these teams and the output was
- 30:54Speaker 1: just very low. The cults, my cults, I just I
- 30:59Speaker 1: loved them so much. At the beginning of the season,
- 31:01Speaker 1: I went to training camp. I was drinking all of
- 31:03Speaker 1: the cool aid. Everything that they said. I was like, Yes,
- 31:06Speaker 1: I'm buying it. I'll buy more. I have, I put
- 31:08Speaker 1: everything on my credit cards. I'm so much dead now.
- 31:11Speaker 1: The Cults done eleven spots. The Raiders, same thing, the
- 31:14Speaker 1: only windless team in the entire league. Down ten spots.
- 31:19Speaker 1: The Niners losing Trey Lance and they have lost their
- 31:22Speaker 1: footing in the power ranking. Down eight spots. The Broncos
- 31:25Speaker 1: down six. I don't know what's going on with that offense.
- 31:28Speaker 1: We saw a little bit of a flash at the
- 31:30Speaker 1: end of that game for the Broncos, but they still
- 31:32Speaker 1: need to figure some things out. Your Chargers also down six.
- 31:36Speaker 1: The Saints, the Patriots, the Panthers also down six as well.
- 31:40Speaker 1: So let me ask you most disappointing team through three weeks.
- 31:47Speaker 1: First of all, this is actually the soundtrack to Mark
- 31:50Speaker 1: sess there watching the Browns for the last thirty years,
- 31:53Speaker 1: every Browns game that's on, because he's not a fan anymore.
- 31:57Speaker 1: He has disowned the team. I know what I'm going.
- 31:59Speaker 1: I'm going. I'm going back to the previous thirty years
- 32:02Speaker 1: of his consistence, where it was living and dying. With
- 32:05Speaker 1: every single game he's escaped, he's been able to escape
- 32:08Speaker 1: that going forward. We're happy for him. Mostly the pointing teams,
- 32:11Speaker 1: the Raiders. They don't have a win, Like, I don't
- 32:13Speaker 1: know who else you could pick when you go all
- 32:16Speaker 1: in in the off season like they did. You make
- 32:17Speaker 1: the trade for Davante Adams, you pay Chandler Jones all
- 32:20Speaker 1: that money, you resigned some of your key guys. Max
- 32:23Speaker 1: Crosby included, you've gotta be you gotta be excited about
- 32:27Speaker 1: this season. And Josh McDaniels comes in and all the
- 32:29Speaker 1: hope and the hype, and you're three weeks in you
- 32:31Speaker 1: don't have a win. You're the only team in the
- 32:33Speaker 1: league that doesn't have a win. I don't know how
- 32:35Speaker 1: it gets more disappointing than that. I know. And Davante Adams,
- 32:39Speaker 1: this was supposed to be the perfect connection with their
- 32:42Speaker 1: car and the missing piece for the offense, and we
- 32:45Speaker 1: just have not seen them put it all together. I'm
- 32:48Speaker 1: really sad about it. Like this is not a segment
- 32:51Speaker 1: to hate on the Raiders, Like I'm waiting for them
- 32:53Speaker 1: to show up and get it done. Let's go. Like
- 32:56Speaker 1: this is a team that we spent an entire offseason.
- 32:58Speaker 1: How many months? How many segments did you do talking
- 33:01Speaker 1: about this Raiders team in the ceiling and how things
- 33:04Speaker 1: gonna be different with Josh McDaniels now. And I don't
- 33:07Speaker 1: want this to be the same old Raiders. Like last
- 33:11Speaker 1: year we saw what they could potentially do. I want
- 33:14Speaker 1: to them to build on that. I need more from that, Like,
- 33:17Speaker 1: let's go, right. I don't know why I'm so upset
- 33:19Speaker 1: about that. Yeah, I mean it's the music. Well, it's
- 33:23Speaker 1: the first of all, it's the it's the music. The
- 33:25Speaker 1: music and the lack of air conditioning, those are the
- 33:27Speaker 1: two big reasons. But look, last year, this team had
- 33:31Speaker 1: so much adversity, um, and look, give Mike Mayock Rich
- 33:35Speaker 1: Pisac a lot of credit. They navigated around tremendous adversity
- 33:39Speaker 1: on and off the field, stuff that no other teams
- 33:41Speaker 1: had to deal with, and they found a way to
- 33:43Speaker 1: get hot at the end of the season and get
- 33:45Speaker 1: into the tournament. Gave the Bengals a heck of a
- 33:47Speaker 1: game in the playoffs. Uh, Bengals go on and go
- 33:50Speaker 1: to the Super Bowl. So last year, coming off that success,
- 33:53Speaker 1: you have a new group coming in there, but the
- 33:54Speaker 1: expectation was you're going to build upon that, and they've
- 33:57Speaker 1: come backwards. So um, look seventeen games. Colleen it's a
- 34:00Speaker 1: long season. They've got time to kind of figure this
- 34:03Speaker 1: thing out. The division. You know, for all the hype
- 34:05Speaker 1: and the excitement about this a f C West has
- 34:08Speaker 1: been underwhelming through the first three weeks of the season.
- 34:11Speaker 1: So the division hasn't run away from them, but they
- 34:13Speaker 1: need to figure it out pretty quick. Yeah, dj I
- 34:15Speaker 1: started the show by calling Dan hansis a liar. I
- 34:17Speaker 1: feel like a liar after talking so much about the
- 34:20Speaker 1: a f C West being such a powerhouse, such an
- 34:23Speaker 1: insane division. Like my god, I I mean, we're all
- 34:27Speaker 1: eating crow and that's fine. We will continue to do
- 34:30Speaker 1: that until these teams show up and turn around. So
- 34:46Speaker 1: we got teens through seven here, let's take a look
- 34:49Speaker 1: at that. The Cults they're up three spots after getting
- 34:53Speaker 1: the win this week over the Chiefs. They're at twenty three,
- 34:55Speaker 1: the Patriots at twenty four dealing with the mac Jones
- 34:58Speaker 1: injury though, now Falcons at five, the Steelers at then
- 35:03Speaker 1: the Bears at seven. Then we have teams twenty eight
- 35:08Speaker 1: through thirty two. The Seahawks down four spots, the Panthers
- 35:11Speaker 1: up to at nine. We've got the Commanders at thirty,
- 35:14Speaker 1: the Jets at thirty one, and then the last team
- 35:18Speaker 1: in the rankings they have not moved it is the
- 35:21Speaker 1: Houston Texans at three. All right, DJ, let's do this now.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Let's get to best of the rest. We've been talking
- 35:29Speaker 1: for about I don't know, thirty three minutes at this point.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Now feels like we've only talked about like eight teams.
- 35:35Speaker 1: So let's get to some of the other guys. Little
- 35:37Speaker 1: rapid fire, A couple of tops are going to throw
- 35:39Speaker 1: your way with thirty seconds on the clock, starting with
- 35:41Speaker 1: the Swan, here we go. Who is Dan too high
- 35:44Speaker 1: on this week? We know it's not you. Yeah, exactly
- 35:48Speaker 1: that seven. And I'm gonna go Bengals because the Cincinnati Bengals. Look,
- 35:52Speaker 1: they went at the Jets. The Jets, you know, we're
- 35:54Speaker 1: not a great football team. At this point in time,
- 35:56Speaker 1: I still thought there was pressure on Burrow. He did
- 35:58Speaker 1: a night's job navigating around that. The Jets end up
- 36:01Speaker 1: busting some coverage and he's able to capitalize on that.
- 36:04Speaker 1: So look, the Bengals, I think I feel better about them,
- 36:07Speaker 1: but I think they're a little bit high on this
- 36:09Speaker 1: list based on what they've accomplished thus far this season
- 36:11Speaker 1: and based on that offensive line. Alright, perfect timing there.
- 36:14Speaker 1: You really have your timing down. Great job. They have
- 36:17Speaker 1: the Dolphins on a short week. As we talked about
- 36:19Speaker 1: earlier Thursday night football, How about this one. Should the
- 36:22Speaker 1: Niners and Broncos be punished for their Sunday night football performances? Well,
- 36:27Speaker 1: we've been punished, Okay, We've punished for having watched some
- 36:31Speaker 1: bad football. Um so look the forty Niners and the Broncos.
- 36:36Speaker 1: They're playing ugly. It's an ugly game. It's tough on
- 36:38Speaker 1: the eyes. But you know, I don't know, can you
- 36:41Speaker 1: be punished? I don't. I don't really weigh primetime game
- 36:44Speaker 1: versus a you know, one o'clock game or four o'clock
- 36:46Speaker 1: Eastern games. So I'm not gonna I'm not gonna punish
- 36:49Speaker 1: them for doing this on national TV. But gosh, we're
- 36:54Speaker 1: the losers. We truly are. I'm sorry. Sure like defense
- 36:58Speaker 1: is great, they win championships, but they don't win primetime
- 37:01Speaker 1: Sunday night football games. Um. Well, sometimes also this late
- 37:06Speaker 1: if we're if we're gonna be honest and and and
- 37:09Speaker 1: I'll have it. Yeah. Actually I actually flipped that game
- 37:16Speaker 1: off and watched a little bit of a gingerbread baking
- 37:20Speaker 1: Challenge Show. They literally are making these humongous, elaborate gingerbread houses,
- 37:26Speaker 1: and they're very serious about it. But I'm telling you,
- 37:29Speaker 1: I love football as much as anybody on this planet.
- 37:32Speaker 1: But at one point time I had the choice between
- 37:35Speaker 1: finishing that game and watching a gingerbread house contest, and
- 37:38Speaker 1: I chose the gingerbread house contest. It's Christmas is like
- 37:42Speaker 1: like three months away, but you still chose the gingerbread
- 37:45Speaker 1: making contests. I didn't even know that was a thing.
- 37:47Speaker 1: I expect now you to be an expert. So let's uh,
- 37:51Speaker 1: let's see what you got. Okay, you're gonna have to
- 37:52Speaker 1: bring them on next time Dan's out of the country. Okay,
- 37:57Speaker 1: all right, how about this one thirty seconds on the
- 37:59Speaker 1: clocks to the Bills we number one if they beat
- 38:01Speaker 1: the Ravens this week, because you know the Eagles, they
- 38:04Speaker 1: play the Jags. I don't know where the scale is
- 38:06Speaker 1: for that will kind of curve we're grading on. Go ahead. Well, look,
- 38:10Speaker 1: look we talked about the Jags, that Jags are better.
- 38:12Speaker 1: That would be a great win for the Eagles if
- 38:14Speaker 1: they take care of the Jags. But I still feel
- 38:16Speaker 1: like the Bills are the best team in football. I
- 38:18Speaker 1: need to get healthier, but I would feel like a
- 38:20Speaker 1: win over the Ravens, a quality opponent. The resume the
- 38:24Speaker 1: Bills would have would be more impressive than the Eagles resume.
- 38:27Speaker 1: So I would even with the loss, even with the
- 38:29Speaker 1: Eagles undefeated, I think if they win this week at
- 38:32Speaker 1: the Ravens, uh, even Dan would have to make the
- 38:35Speaker 1: right decision there and put the Bills back. Don't do
- 38:38Speaker 1: the right thing. I know it. I mean, especially after
- 38:41Speaker 1: he's going to get a lot of heat this week
- 38:43Speaker 1: from Dolphins fans. We know it. Finally, last question, what
- 38:46Speaker 1: are your A t N Power rankings? Feel free to
- 38:49Speaker 1: count me if you're struggling for a top spot, that's fine,
- 38:52Speaker 1: will allow it. Yeah, yeah, Look, you've never told me this,
- 38:56Speaker 1: but I can read between the lines. I know you've
- 38:58Speaker 1: been forced to be on that show. So I'm gonna
- 39:00Speaker 1: include in that ranking. So I'm gonna go. I'm gonna
- 39:03Speaker 1: go calleen them one. I know Eric is no longer there,
- 39:07Speaker 1: but she's still number two Lifetime Achievement Award. I'm gonna
- 39:11Speaker 1: go Cessler number three. He's just a nice he's just
- 39:15Speaker 1: a likable human being. I have nothing bad to say
- 39:17Speaker 1: about Mark Sessler. Rosenthal is going to be number four. Um,
- 39:24Speaker 1: nothing really to say about him. Number five, I'm gonna
- 39:26Speaker 1: go Dan, So Dan is going to be in last place.
- 39:29Speaker 1: The only reason I have him at number five is
- 39:32Speaker 1: because there aren't six people, So that's the reason why
- 39:36Speaker 1: I have him at Uh yeah, he's he's been there standing.
- 39:39Speaker 1: Pat has not moved in the rankings, just remains unchanged
- 39:42Speaker 1: in that last spot for DJ Okay DJ great stuff
- 39:47Speaker 1: so far. I want you to know I have some
- 39:49Speaker 1: things I'm going to rank. Dan isn't the only one
- 39:51Speaker 1: ranking things around here. These are my own. It's some
- 39:53Speaker 1: of my favorite things from the weekend. I think you'll
- 39:55Speaker 1: like them too. So starting with number three, it's really
- 39:59Speaker 1: tough to not include Ken Dorsey freaking out because I
- 40:02Speaker 1: did love that, because that's how I felt when I
- 40:05Speaker 1: didn't get the London assignment again this year. But that's okay,
- 40:07Speaker 1: we're not gonna talk about that because I'm mature, I'm professional.
- 40:10Speaker 1: We're gonna go with the butt punt at number three.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Thomas Morstead. He didn't have much room to operate. They
- 40:17Speaker 1: kind of put baby in a box there, and his
- 40:19Speaker 1: personal protector, Trent Shurefield backed up there at the wrong time,
- 40:23Speaker 1: resulting in a safety. So we're really thinking about Surefield today.
- 40:26Speaker 1: I'm really hoping that he's in a safe space at
- 40:28Speaker 1: this point. Yeah. I mean, he's done a lot of
- 40:31Speaker 1: lungeones in his life because that thing really rickrec he's
- 40:36Speaker 1: in great shape. Well that's all we'll say about that.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Let's go to number two. This was also this is
- 40:41Speaker 1: fantastic Michael Irvin flying by blind on game day warning
- 40:47Speaker 1: he forgot his glasses before g d M and um.
- 40:50Speaker 1: If you're watching this program right now, you will see
- 40:54Speaker 1: that Michael Irvin is staring at his notes, his rundown,
- 40:59Speaker 1: whatever is on that paper, and it's like two centimeters
- 41:02Speaker 1: away from his face. He really struggled, but he went
- 41:07Speaker 1: through and he got it done. Should we tell her
- 41:10Speaker 1: about LASI though, DJ? Does he know about it? No? No, no, no, no,
- 41:16Speaker 1: no no. I want this to happen every week. This
- 41:19Speaker 1: is that's that's entertainment. It was a magic moment. I
- 41:22Speaker 1: truly loved it. Finally, my number one spot, Tom Brady's
- 41:26Speaker 1: Tom Brady shirt. His pregame white tea, featured this high
- 41:30Speaker 1: school photo of himself with the with the phrase greatness
- 41:34Speaker 1: Last forever. And you know what doesn't last forever, it's
- 41:37Speaker 1: the play clock, especially when you're trying to get a
- 41:39Speaker 1: two point conversion the way that he was freaking out
- 41:43Speaker 1: at Todd Bowls, Like, listen, time out don't last forever either.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Come on, you can't make more magically appear at the
- 41:50Speaker 1: end of the game. But Brady, he's onto something. I mean,
- 41:54Speaker 1: greatness lasting forever because photos, um like this definitely lasts forever.
- 42:00Speaker 1: DJ I found one of you, um younger, your younger self.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Let's do this. This is my favorite. Let's see where
- 42:07Speaker 1: you are here and greatness, it lasts forever. Look at that. Yeah,
- 42:13Speaker 1: you shaved your head and it's uh was that the
- 42:16Speaker 1: last time you shaved your head? Well, I'm headed in
- 42:20Speaker 1: that direction, collegn. But it's not a volunteer situation anymore.
- 42:24Speaker 1: So I was a precursor to my future life. Well,
- 42:27Speaker 1: there's always plugs. People are getting the plug game. I heard.
- 42:30Speaker 1: We won't go there though. How about this what I'm
- 42:36Speaker 1: out on plugs? I heard? I heard a little hesitation
- 42:40Speaker 1: there maybe here here it looks great. What are you
- 42:42Speaker 1: talking about? Um? How about Dan? We got one? I
- 42:46Speaker 1: went digging shout out to his best friend. And this
- 42:51Speaker 1: is a young Dan Hanss. We'll definitely tweet this out
- 42:54Speaker 1: if you are just listening to the podcast version, DJ,
- 42:58Speaker 1: can you describe this photo for us? Yeah, you have
- 43:02Speaker 1: Dan is adorable young kid. I would say it's probably
- 43:06Speaker 1: a D level haircut that he's rocking run home. It's
- 43:09Speaker 1: a little uneven, the collars popped up on one side. Um,
- 43:14Speaker 1: he's got some tennis shoes on that are probably four
- 43:16Speaker 1: sizes too big with the tongue that touches his kneecap,
- 43:20Speaker 1: that's how big the tongue is on these shoes. And
- 43:23Speaker 1: the shoelaces he actually took from his father's shoes, because
- 43:26Speaker 1: the shoelaces are clearly about six sizes too big because
- 43:31Speaker 1: they might be tripled on it and there's still a
- 43:34Speaker 1: lot of string left. Those those sneakers had a good run.
- 43:37Speaker 1: I'll say that they look like they had been through
- 43:40Speaker 1: a lot, but they are pretty amazing now. Um, of course,
- 43:43Speaker 1: if I'm gonna throw you guys out there, I'll do
- 43:45Speaker 1: one better. I will forever be haunted by my decision making.
- 43:49Speaker 1: And um, this is me in I don't know if
- 43:52Speaker 1: it's eighth grade or my freshman year. But this is
- 43:55Speaker 1: greatness and it does last forever. So butterfly clips they're
- 44:00Speaker 1: back d j um and if you get hair plugs,
- 44:02Speaker 1: you could also do this with your hair. So it
- 44:04Speaker 1: is something to think about. That's that's literally, that's literally
- 44:07Speaker 1: the only motivation I would have to ever do that
- 44:09Speaker 1: would be to pull that look off there. And for
- 44:13Speaker 1: those for those that can't can't see it's really, um
- 44:17Speaker 1: it's really something. It's kind of it's a little bit
- 44:20Speaker 1: of an ode to justin Timberlake. Maybe I think where
- 44:25Speaker 1: else we could go. I look a little like justin
- 44:27Speaker 1: Timberlake for sure. I looked like I also just dumped
- 44:31Speaker 1: the son in in my hair, so it's like a
- 44:33Speaker 1: grassy golden situation. Um. So yeah, I decided that I'm
- 44:38Speaker 1: just going to wear this. I'm gonna now a T
- 44:41Speaker 1: shirt my own that has my face on it. Greatness
- 44:44Speaker 1: Last Forever, DJ, Thank you so much inspired that. Um,
- 44:50Speaker 1: I know, my my my only hope is that, my
- 44:53Speaker 1: only hope is that you know Dan. I don't know
- 44:55Speaker 1: what where else is he gonna go? Is he gonna
- 44:57Speaker 1: are they gonna send him to Germany? I mean maybe
- 44:59Speaker 1: I was trying to get him out of the country.
- 45:00Speaker 1: I think that we could put that request in so
- 45:02Speaker 1: then once again we will be reunited. I did to
- 45:05Speaker 1: do a little Power Rankings. You, my friend, are the greatest.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Thank you again for stopping by. We will be back
- 45:10Speaker 1: next week for another edition of Power Rankings when Dan
- 45:13Speaker 1: is back in the country, and if he doesn't return,
- 45:15Speaker 1: it's going to be DJ back again later. Gang NFL
